Aurora Forecast. Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Fair. You cannot zoom in on the map to choose a location. If I could choose a location I could check 100 miles north of me and drive there. But the map is so wide I cannot pinpoint a location I want to check.

Settings. Paid for pro, still no way to monitor a location different than mine. There is no “more>settings”

Not accurate at all. The nowcast regularly shows zero percent chance of visibility in my area. Then, in the morning, we find out we missed seeing Northern Lights again.

Things offered. If you are going to charge for it, why do you offer it like it might be free. Or better, why isn’t there a free version for everything?

Super vague!. I paid for a 'one view' pic for the north and south pole. I get notifications at least once a day saying 'You MAY be able to see' but when I click on the app it says NO CHANCE OF VIEWING FROM MY AREA. There is nothing in settings to adjust, I feel like this app was a 6th grade project from 5 years ago. Sorry, but it is just that bad. Wish I had not paid for it.

New not always better.. For someone who has used this App for years and on a weekly basis, the new format is appalling. Why hog up valyBle screen space with a map of your location. Why disable the ability to spin and rotate the planet. Lastly, I did not appreciate my older version getting hijacked by this newer and inferior version.

More complicated then it has to be. More complicated then it has to be

Not what i thought. I had believed this app to provide alerts when i might see the northern lights in my location. I get frequent alerts that they might be visible only to learn that there is a 0 percent chance in my location

AURORA NOW. If you love the Aurora (north or south) You’ll gonna enjoy this easy to understand APP❣️ Even MORE amazing since the upgrade of the app❣️ Now everything reachable by way of 1 page Quick reference guide. And you can set your choice of when to be notified.

Keeps notifying me of a Kp index above 5. The app keeps saying there’s an expected kp index above 5 but every time I check the app, it never shows that. Has happened several times over the past few months. Not sure what I even paid for at this point

Did not alert. I purchased in app notifications. Last night, we had kp7 last but there were no notifications whatsoever.

An okay app. The app has a fair number of features but I’m pretty tired of it telling me in its bright blue banner that I have a 255% chance of seeing an Aurora at noon in Southern New Hampshire. It’s probabilities are never correct.

Great 3D earth image with aurora. This is my favorite of all the Aurora Borealis apps I have. It is easy to find out exactly where you need to be to see the Northern Lights. There is a globe of the earth with an aurora overlay.

Northern lights. I don’t like that it doesn’t tell you the time when the northern lights are out

Handy and full of information. This is a handy app that keeps a lot of useful information right at your fingertips. I especially appreciate the Aurora Nowcast globe. That alone is a clever tool for visualizing the aurorae.

Best Aurora Forecasting app. I give photography tours of Iceland and this is my main app for determining the Aurora strength.

Junk. While watching the Northern Lights last night, this piece of junk said “0% chance of see aurora in your area”

Awesome. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thanks to everyone involved in its creation.

Great app, but they stealth removed the alerts to make you pay. They should have grandfathered people rather than removing a feature and putting it behind a paywall. Also you cannot zoom in on maps to be precise to your area

Beautifully done. Worth buying the upgrade

So wonderful. I can place myself anywhere in the world and see the probably of seeing an Aurora.

Works but.... This so works and looks great on my iPhone. I loaded it on my apple watch but it does not provide any information. The screen has empty spots where the information is supposed to go. I tried to email the developer through the iPhone app but the email function didn't work. There some good things about this app but it needs to fix these problems.

Nice but significant flaws. The prediction feature is never correct. Always shows activity over Europe, no matter the time of day.

Love it but question devs. Ok hi AWSOME app but now there’s like red orange and yellow colors is that just for today or a new update

Doesn’t work. The app started to not function properly this week. The only thing that shows up are the ovation pictures and nothing else. I hope a new the app gets updated soon since it’s Aurora season.

Outstanding Aurora Prediction Tool. Wow, I'm impressed. This app is a science lesson on Auroral and solar activity and provides a ton of useful information. I'm most interested in knowing ahead of time when to head outside to see an Aurora but I also want to learn more about solar activity. Thanks for a great app!

Not useful. This app relies in KP predictions which are rubbish. It also omits Bz from the real-time data which is the single most useful piece of info when forecasting short-term Aurora potential.

Wish forecast was based on geo location.. Getting alerts for possible aurora viewing opportunities hours before sunset in my location renders the use of this app utterly pointless.

Not working. Only thing working correctly on this app anymore is the “UPGRADE NOW” button. The aurora prediction goes from 300+% visible to a constant “UPDATING NOW” notification. Have deleted this app then reloaded it all to no avail. Now deleting it and leaving it deleted. Giving one star-only because we are not given the option of giving none at all.

Error driven. What would be a robust app is rife with problems. The maps don’t agree with each other on data. The app will report a 225% chance of seeing the Aurora when it is really 0%. App needs debugging. Eagerly awaiting an update.

Update 5.0. The new update is horrible I loved this app until today. It was one of my favorites for the past 5 years. The entire platform has been changed. It lost most of its cool maps and features. The location finder does not work anymore. All around this update ruined the app for me. Not impressed.

Consistent quality information. This is my go to for daily status reports on solar activity and viewing opportunities on my solar telescope. Good data , well presented. Only complaint is the lack of support documentation to explain all the solar spectral views . Additional information would be helpful to new viewers

How to use and what is this? It’s vague and uses jargon. NOT a user friendly, only shows a map and green color over. No forecast. Shows the sun but then didn’t load the details. I am thinking of deleting app. Also be great if we could put comments and photos when we see the northern lights and what’s time and location etc it says proton flux sun winds solar density; umm what does that mean. Not even a key, or note about what I’d be looking for.

Don’t DO!. I have cancelled my subscription twice and yet they still charge me and it didn’t even alert me when the Aurora happened though I had alerts on notifications! NOT A GOOD APP! Don’t buy!

Aurora map app used in Alaska. I enjoy the photos of the sun and the forecasts of the solar activity, living at the 59th latitude North here in Alaska it is enjoyable to see the aurora borealis/northern lights on clear crisp nights that we have. Looking at my phone app helps keep me in the warm cabin and gives me the heads up on when to go outside to enjoy the green serpents that slither across the dark sky , Niffelhime bro

Not for novice. I have been looking for apps to track the auroras. My big issue is there is no help or FAQ section. I don’t know the colors or how to interpret the graphs. I really want to learn but this one is not it unless I missed a section.

Junk. Insanely expensive subscription required to view anything.. Ridiculous. NOAA provides better aurora forecasts completely free. But, this app wants $20 per month. This Apple app subscription nonsense is out of control.

Can’t get notifications to turn on. Please help. I’ve updated the app yet I still cannot turn on the notifications. When I pick what level to notify me, it says “Failed” with any selection I make. The notifications button is toggled on and I gave the app permission to alert. So I don’t know how to fix this.

Poor experience. The app gave a zero percent chance to see the lights last night and an hour later they were here. Tonight the app gave a zero percent chance while I was looking at them.

Excellent resource!. This! If you are a naturalist or just a science nerd, this will give you everything you need to see the lights! Just one thing, please add a glossary of terms used!!

Latest Sun update.. See, there you go developer cadre. Much better with the Sun again. Now, leave it alone, perfect the way it is. I have bought, used and deleted all other Aurora apps, except this one. Long time user in Alaska, thank you. 🙃

Great Ap. I highly recommend this ap.

Time zone is incorrect!. After cross-checking with other information sources, I think the time zone for the forecast is incorrect, which make the results misleading.

What am I looking at?. Wish there was some sort of explanation of what I’m looking at. Downloaded for my trip to Iceland, hoping to see the aurora so I downloaded this app but have absolutely no idea what I’m looking at, what any of the data means or how to use it. I checked settings and there is no user manual. That would be pretty helpful.

Need custom entry of location. Please allow custom entry of location! When charging so much for service, this feature should be provided!

Used to love this app. Used and loved so many features on this app but now it only crashes and won't open at all. Any chance there will be an update?

Crashing today. On two ipads it crashes now and now won't open. I like the app and have used it for a while. I did a hard reboot, and deleted then reinstalled. Still crashes. Need it for a big storm tonite.

Confusing/Not user friendly. Cannot figure out how to change my location. Gives me info for Africa.

No good. 2 nights ago the best Northern Lights in 20 years and this APP said 2% chance of seeing it in my area. The local news said to watch for them but relied on the app and missed an amazing show.

Aurora app. Pretty worthless. Last night this area was lit up with Northern Lights yet not a Peep from my app. Still showed zero chance. During the day it might say chances are becoming high. Maybe even 6.0. And yet all night long still showing zero chance. It’s much more accurate for me to just watch the local news and weather for alerts.

App. My review on this app it does not work and only takes up space

Crashes. No good - fix please

Great app. This app is great but it has stopped working pleas fix it

Needs an update. Great app but it's been crashing lately - please fix!

Aurora Fcast Best Free App. This is the most comprehensive reporting app you will find. It includes geometric activity, auroral predictions, Kp outlook, A index, radio flux, solar activities, solar winds and proton flux. For a small fee you can receive alert notifications (great if you live in the area). By all means install this app if you are traveling and want to increase your chances of seeing the Lights. jhw00 November 2017

Aurora. Disappointing now that’s it’s been updated. All the information is set for the northern hemisphere. I live in Australia and it tells me I have a 0% chance of seeing the northern lights. I guess in that respect it’s accurate. I also appreciate that I can change my favourite location. However this doesn’t help when the information provided is only for the northern hemisphere

Nearly a great app. This app is very good easy to interpret but it’s fatal flaw is when you go into the forecast it doesn’t show where the location is set to or where the forecast is for

Northern lights. The perfect tool for preparing for the northern lights Just need more clear skies and fine weather

This app doesn't work at all!. Please fix....

Ee. E

Sends alerts when disabled.. The app sends notifications even with alerts disabled.

Limited for Southern Hemisphere users. Doesn't give much information for Southern Hemisphere users. It would probably be great if I lived in Europe though. But from what I have seen so far I would definitely give it 5 stars if it had Southern Hemisphere functionality

Not aware of location. I'm getting aurora alerts during the day. The app is using location services so should know when it's day or night.

Nice Interface, Handy App.. Handy little program for a quick check using the push notification. Has an issue where it keeps sending pushes when it is fluctuating. Would be 5 Star if it also pushes on Kp. Would be 6 Star if it only pushed when the moon phase was right as well...

App Crash. Version 4.0.7 crashes

Front page issue. The front page of the app gives a % chance of seeing the “Northern Lights” at my location. Since my location is Hobart Tasmania (aka down under, down under) this will presumably always be zero. Or perhaps it’s mislabeled and should say “chance of visible Aurora”?

Southern Hemisphere. Needs alerts for the Southern Hemisphere not just Northern ones.

Hemisphere select button needs work. nice layout but its not clear if north or south hemisphere selected as the buttons are black and white - tap to enable? Red - green pr better still a check box would be obvious.

Southern hemisphere. Very good resources but can only get notifications of Northern Hemisphere Aurora activities. Need only the Southern Hemisphere activities notification, please but can not change it.

Waste of money. Told me there was a low chance of seeing aurora consistently despite them being out and bright. Not worth it.

Don't Do The January 2017 Update. Don't update, I just did and now the app won't open. I tried deleting and reinstalling, but that did not help either. Crashy crashy. Unfortunate because it was good before that.

Update Ruins App. The latest version 5.0 changes the interface considerably and ruins what was an excellent app. The map is useless and leaves you staring at the equator where there is no aurora, not at your home location. The POES images of the oval do not update. And the percentage estimate of aurora visibility is of questionable value and takes up too much screen real estate. I used to recommend this app; I can’t now. What are the programmers thinking? Implementing a poorly designed interface that doesn’t work.

not accurate. said my location has a 2% chance yet they are in full bloom at my friends house 20 min away. deleted, waste of time.

Could be great.... Seems like a nice enough app, I appreciate the ability to set different thresholds to receive notifications for - but someone needs to add a feature that mutes these during daylight hours. I can’t imagine it’d be that difficult, but man is it annoying being bombarded by notifications at 9am saying you may see northern lights in a few hours 😂

Useless app. I paid the $1.99 to get notifications of when there is a visible aurora in my area. I have not received any notifications but my sister-in-law who lives 5 mins from me has seen the aurora twice. Biggest waste of money.

Paid for the app. Paid for the app so I could get notifications, but when I try to set the parameters it just alerts me that it “x failed”. Disappointed.

Doesn't even open anymore. After the new update, the app can't stay open for more than 2 seconds before crashing, come up with a fix please.

Love it. Gets info and displays it really well. Does all I want it to. I don't use Push with any of them. The notifications are rarely useful, always late, and don't allow for prep. The forecast function has been really good to me and the ability to display the info with local time makes me so happy

Please update ovation photo source. Thanks a lot.

Inaccurate. Right now Friday 10 April 2015 the app says for the next 4 nights it will be Kp 5,5,5,4 but in fact the other forecasts say 2,1,2,2 so this app never updates itself correctly. This is the second time that I'm getting fake Kp numbers, please fix this bug!!!!

Terrible changes!. It was a great app before they “improved”. Now it’s crAp! And every update makes it even worse!

Other one was better.. I don’t like the optics of the world view. It was better before. I live in Vancouver Canada on the west coast and I go to northern Saskatchewan in the summer. I like to check what it is like in both places. And I can’t see that. Like I could before. Very disappointing.

not accurate at all.. not accurate at all. always says don’t have chance to have aurora but actually 50% chance on KP8 on that night. coverage area is always wrong!

Missing. Miss the rotating earth showing the location since prior to purchasing the program.

Horrible App. Absolutely in accurate with its information; horrible app 👎🏻

Need to subscribe to get alerts. If you want alerts for northern lights in your area, go with the Aurora app instead

New version. Still crash

Not worth the money. It only allows kp indext above 5. It did not tell you that in advance.

Alerts require a subscription and seem to be sent arbitrarily. Alerts seem to bear no relationship to your location or the data shown in the app itself. The app is otherwise quite good.

Why did it change. App was much better prior to the update. Very likely it will be removed from my devices now

New update is horrible. It doesn’t even pick up on my location. So what good is it if it doesn’t know where I am? I am Deleting it and looking for a new better app.

Just want to let the Devs know. The app is crashing after last IOS update on iPhone 7. Great app wouldn't post if it wasnt!

Simplify. Just tell / show me if the is northern lights or not , way too much information

Very disappointed. Missed the biggest aurora in Banff Canada last weekend thanks to the app (showed activity of 4 instead of 7) and never updated to represent the change. One another time I missed a decent activity trusting the app... Maybe it is good for a moderate conference and the north? I am done. Now I am pretty disappointed and just deleted it to avoid the bitter aftertaste when I watch others photos from the activities I missed.

Waste of money.. What else do you want to know? It says it all!!

aurora map seems broken. aurora map seems to not be updating, the nowcast still works though

Terriblr. This was a good appz, but lately it is so bad. It’s paid and you should get something for your money. Free appz Are better.

Not recommended. Doesn’t work most of the time. Either shows 200% of seeing or 0%. Map never loads properly

Northern resident. We use this app on a regular basis and find it works well. Often when the app indicated there will be activity there is in fact activity. :)

Great App. Great app

After the update i can't open it. Keeps crashing. After the update i can't open it. Keeps crashing

Please fix!. Please fix it. It won't open since the update. Keeps crashing. Great app before the "fix", handy

Great!. I love how you can still use the app and find out detailed information without being forced to have to spend money on it to have it function.

Not Happy.. I paid the in app purchase for the alerts. Sad to say. I am NOT getting any. This is very frustrating. I have contacted the developer both by email and a Facebook message to no avail. Do I contact Apple for a refund? A shame, it looks so promising.

Good app. This is very useful, given the fact that I love to watch the aurora. One thing is that I don’t like how you have to pay to get notified every time the aurora is good in your area. That part is rather annoying.

Crashing issue. After iOS10 update, this app will crash as long as u open it.

Nice app. Update - I hadn’t used this app in some time. Stared using it again and I can say you do get notifications. In fact sometimes a bit too many when things are active. I like the watch app too, however, you do need to pick on the complication to have it update sometimes. Old review- The app works well as a reference tool, lots of good info there. I sprang for the notifications, and I have yet to ever receive one. Recently contacted them about it, waiting on a response still.

Very broken!. This app doesn’t agree with any other Aurora and solar weather tracking. It seems stuck at some fixed location and date. Certainly not worth paying a subscription for, save your money. There’s better apps that don’t constantly want feeding money.

Still crash. Still crash!!!

Great tool.. Works great, got most of it figured out now. Works good for "now"!!!

Won't Load. Jan. 31, 2017 For last two days your app will not load. Fix it!! Has been reliable till now...what's happening.

Update gave me an excuse to delete. I used to use this app for the Auronowcast as well. Now that it is gone I have no use for it and no interest in the ridiculously priced subscription service.

Question for you on the phone with the doctor about the pain. The only way I could do that was if you wanted me too I could come and pick up your car

No Way. No way

Decent, but not quite polished. To mention first: I understand that “forecasting” Aurora is extremely difficult, and far less accurate than predicting rain or snow. With that, this app is overall decent, but missing a couple things that would really complete it. First, the app doesn’t seem to consider local weather or daylight hours when sending alerts. I will see an alert saying that there is a higher chance of seeing Aurora in the next couple of hours, only for the sky to be completely overcast and approaching solar noon! Secondly, I am not sure where the app is sourcing the data from. I am assuming the NOAA OVATION Aurora model, but it would be great to confirm that and possibly even add in forecasting from other sources (the University of Alberta, local to where I live, runs an “AuroraWatch” prediction site). I know there are other European-based agencies and departments that run models. They don’t all have to be an option, but if there was a mechanism to request inclusion and then work on integrating the top requests it would be awesome. For inspiration, I really like the way Windy not only lets you pick which primary weather forecasting model you use, but allows you to compare the different predictions to one another quickly.

Take back the update. This newest update looks awful. It may seem more user friendly to new users but it didn’t take long to understand the app before and now it’s just tacky.

0% chance of seeing lights. I’ve been watching the lights for an hour and the app keeps telling me 0% chance of seeing them. Other apps all say I have a good chance of seeing them based on their calculations

Waste of time. Confusing and boring if you don’t pay lots of money

Don't buy notifications. The notifications comes up very often with the alert you requested, but it is usually 5-10 days late. I want to be notified BEFORE, not after. A waste of money. It also seems to be bad at updating within the app. Just use the website. Update: still have yet to fix the notify feature.

Impressive app. Recommend. Needs more.. I thoroughly enjoy the app and it's very informative. The detailed analysis and predictions are scientific and graphically detailed. I only wish there was in-app details regarding what I was reading. The common person doesn't know what the Kp index or AIA 304 is without further research elsewhere. I recommend.

Great app!!! Push alert is definitely worth it. I downloaded this app with the push alert for my Iceland trip. It was right on with the alert. As a result, I was able to catch the aurora at just the right time. I had the alert set for 4 (out of 10) and within 10 minutes of the alert, the aurora exploded over our heads in a dancing curtain of green, purple, red, and pink. If you are going to be in a place where seeing the Northern Lights is possible, I highly recommend this app with the push alert.

Still a problem with alerts. The recent update did not fix the alert issue. I got 3 false alerts before dawn this morning, waking me up. I have the alert level set at a Kp of 8. Each alert said the Kp was 8 or higher but when I opened the app the Kp was a 2. When this is properly fixed I will give this app a better rating. It has potential, I think.

Aurora Forecast. Overall, a nice app. Recent update fixed the "cancel" button glitch. It would still be nice if there was a little explanation of what the numbers represent on the different graphs and how they effect viewing.

Not free. Appears free with “in app” purchases but requires payment. Should be upfront & be a pay app to begin with.

"Tours Ad" So I am not paying.. I buy paid apps, but not paid apps with ads. Your Aurora Tours is an AD. Why would anyone spend thousands of $ to go on a trip and pick their tour guide from an in app ad? I bet you have been compensated for those ads. If I pay for alerts I expect the ads removed. If I go on a trip to see the aurora I will do my own research, not pick them from an in app ad.

5.x Upgrade Stinks. I agree with the others that this latest major upgrade ruined this app! I’ll be looking for a replacement soon unless the developer re-improves this app.

Does Not Consider Overcast Skies. This is super obvious to an end user and NOT factored in for forecast observation opportunities. Duh. Please fix.

Favorite App Ever!!!. Awesome app. when it is kept updated by you and the designers. I use to have to keep going to NASA's website to get the same info and imaging. Now I can quickly check when I'm out taking a midnight walk. Love this App!

Confusing and Irritating. There isn't any way to check the CURRENT Kp index. It's kind of cool to see what happened last week, but that was....last week. I missed a possible display. I should have checked the date I guess. I assumed the one at the top would be today. I think the the GPS might be off too, it shows I'm in Wisconsin and I'm in northern Minnesota.

aurora. you can't get aurora alerts w/o subscription

This App is horrible!!. Don’t waste your time or money. It’s worthless ! Less than 1 star.

Poor Mapping. Map not expandable. Unable to expand to verify current location. Current shown location labeled incorrectly example, current location of “Duluth Minnesota is shown on map as St Louis Minnesota”

This App Is Great!. Ive been following the GI of Alaska for 3 years since I saw my first solar magnetic storm in Oslo, Norway harbour. I had their original app but I like this way better. I don't like that the pics of the solar magnetic zone levels are not available to see if the strength will been seen in my location. Hopefully in an update! :-)

Cool app but incorrect info. Due to a solar flare, the aurora borealis was able to be seen farther south in the United State than the app stated.

Crashes. Right now it’s totally useless. The app crashes every time I try to check the globe to see where the Aurora might be visible.

Nice, but.... I really like the UI of this app and appears to be accurate. The only downfall for this is app that's killing me is the notifications seem to be nonexistent. I've checked, everything is on and active yet I haven't had one. I'm not checking this app often, so when I wake up and hear about the spectacular show it's a bummer I missed it. Hope an update is on the horizon.

Powerful tool. This app is very useful for tracking and forecasting auroras. I bought the alarm feature and find it very helpful, as I'm not always using the app, so the alerts grab my attention. I love the summary information and maps, they help me identify the intensity and the maps help show where I'm likely to be able to see it. Keep up the good work!

Great App, miss the maps!. With the new version they got rid of the easy to read maps that showed you the limit of visibility in your area. The NOAA map is fine but you can't zoom in so it leaves me guessing if it's close to Anchorage (home). I like the additional scientific detail, though. Not a fan of the forecast page where the first date that shows up is a week ahead and you have to scroll down to see today's forecast. It is also not clear if that forecast is general aurora activity or specific to my area. I miss the last version :/ but overall a great app that takes advantage of UAFs awesome resources. Thanks guys!

Paid part of this app is a -5 star. I paid the $1.99 for the aural push notifications. They claimed their app was updated and working fine in the updates section. So far I've received 5 push notifications for aural activity above a 5. I double checked on the actual app it was at a 1 and quiet. I decided to check some websites to make sure and all said aural activity was at a 1 as well. I have it set for the correct hemisphere. I even tried to troubleshoot online to fix it. Don't pay the $1.99 it's a pain. I now have to wait for them to fix it in a update I hope in the near future. I ended up turning the push notifications off. Fix it please, I would love to be awoken to some actual aurora. Not fake push notifications. 👎👎 Fix and I'll edit my review to be a positive.

A mazing. A mazing

Awesome free app!. Must have for night photographers. More science info than you will probably need but easy like your 5. Would recommend to anyone looking to chase auroras.

Awesome APP. Keeps me informed ALWAYS !!!

Solid, lacks content. Hasn't crashed or had any technical bugs, which is more than one can say for a lot of apps with similar features. Still, it would be nice if it had sat. Images of current cloud cover and moon phase, both impacting viewability.

This is terrible. Can’t set it to the site I want. It makes no sense. There is no forecast.

Huge improvement. Well done. Love the new Nowcast feature. The overall look and functionality of the app is much improved with a cleaner layout and additional information. Happy aurora hunting!

Very impressive. I just downloaded this from the AppStore. Really cool! Very technical (read: business-like) interface, but great content. Excellent graphics where it counts. ***** Have not tried the alerts add-on yet.

Crap in the sky. The best app ever created to waste time. How do I cancel

Amazing app. Truly amazing app

Problems. I have been having such problems with my app it won't load all the way even when I am connected to wifi and I have tried turning it off and back on and still won't work for me. When it did work I loved it but I don't know why such problems now

Massive improvement. This app is really slick with tons of information and beautiful animations. I can't wait to see how the alert system works...I guess I have to wait for kp of 6. Great job devs.

Latest Update is Buggy. This is the best Aurora app by far but, unfortunately, the latest update includes bugs. There is a very noticeable delay when opening the app now and when I get an Aurora alert, the app just crashes. The updated time zones where a great addition (thank you) but please fix these bugs.

Fix the Alerts, and I’ll re-rate the app.. Bought the in-app purchase for aurora alerts, but its completely broken. Have it set for 7, and I’m getting multiple notification every hour but the forecast is actually for Kp of 2. Several things need fixing 1) Only notify when the Kp actually reaches the specified level. 2) Only notify once, not all the damned time. 3) Add settings to disable notifications during certain hours. App looks good, is promising but doesn’t fulfill the one task I bought it for.

Cool idea but not accurate. When it says you have a 255% chance of seeing the northern lights on a cloudy night at 2kp you begin to question...

NorthernLights. Beautiful viewable

Could Use Improvements. The Push Notifications are too much. I currently have it set at 9 of 10 and I get alerts constantly. I'd say I get at least 15-20 alerts every day. I'd like to be notified when there is a significant auroral event, not multiple times every day. Where I live, the Northern Lights are only visible occasionally, so seeing such high numbers every single night essentially renders them meaningless to me. Also, I receive daytime alerts. There should, at the very least, be an option to turn alerts off during the day without having to switch the Push Notifications on and off every night. The app already knows my location and displays it on a map. Maybe, in the future, this could become more integrated into the app. I do like that it also lists the daily forecast using UAF data. I find I usually have more success using that to predict my chances of seeing the lights on any given night than if I just go by the NOAA POES data alone. This app looks great and shows promise, but it needs to improve its practicality. Like I said, tweaking the Push Notifications to exclude alerts during daylight and twilight hours based on current location would dramatically improve its usefulness.

Works, but not that useful. This app works fine, but it needs some more analytics to be worth paying for the notifications. All it seems to do is format the online data. Yeah it's easy to look at, but simple additions like interfacing with a weather forecast and location services would make it really to tell whether or not you'll be able to see the lights at your current location. I think that would definitely be worth paying for.

Fix the alerts. As mentioned by others, the alerts are not accurate. Getting alerts that the K index is 7 , when it is actually 3. Considering that you have to pay extra for the alerts, this is unacceptable. Please fix.

Non intuitive. I am a newbie to trying to understand good timing for aurora austrealis. This app was of almost no use but they do a good job of trying to get me to upgrade.

Alerts broken. I bought the push alerts yesterday and got 10 false alerts since then. I had the threshold set to 7 and even in the app the level wasn't anything close to that. From the other reviews it looks like this has been a problem for a long time. I hope this gets fixed soon, otherwise I wasted my money.

Great for Night Photography. One of the best apps for Aurora alerts. The update is unreal, just a brilliant peace of design and function. It's award worthy and the team listens to users feature requests! Now only if we weren't headed into solar minimum. :-/

Ok but not super. Updates are delayed at least by 2 hours even on wifi (30 Mbps bandwidth). Maps would be nice. Right for the price, which is free. I don't think I'd pay for the app. In order to be a paid app it would need a serious overhaul and way more features.

Not working. This app has stopped working

K d. B w,

Great, but doesn't match its own source material. When I open up the Geophysical Institute's website, the forecast is exactly 24 hours off from this app, which leads me to believe the app is faulty. Makes me wonder if any of the other features are off as well. Otherwise, pretty neat app.

Super easy!!. It's a really easy and useful app to watch aurora!! In fact this app had 1-2 bugs about notification. But when I asked to fix them, developers made the new version immediately. Their quick response is really awesome!

Cool app but reliable?. My only feedback is I’m not sure how trustworthy a ”NORTHERN lights” app can be that misspells the word Northern (on the Aurora Nowcast they spell it “Nothern”). Aggravating!

Mystery data. I live in Alaska and follow aurora predictions and measurements all of the time, and I'm confuse about the data being presented here. Currently the "activity level" claims to be 5, but this can't be the "wing Kp" value because that's down around 1-2 at the moment. Also the current data time listed is 2:08pm, but it's 6:08pm in Anchorage. Is this data really 4 hours old? At the moment this is doing me no good at all.

Ugh. What does any of this even mean? I’m not a meteorologist
