Best Visualizer Hands Down But Still Not Perfect. I was a HUGE fan of Milkdrops visualizer for Winamp for almost 10 years. After extensive searches I found this was the best visualizer out there. In fact, that was the entire reason why I kept the obsolete Winamp program. Thanks to Project M I have been able to use the plugin for iTunes on the Mac. I recently downloaded the app to my iPad and I love it. Good visuals (bright, vibrant, active) and great selection of presets (over 250) although some appear to be very similar. Regardless, it's a preset list long enough to get you through your most exhausting "nights". The visuals response to music isn't perfect, but it is better than any other program I've used (some presets better than others). I would say the only shortcomings I've found is I have both the AV cable and AppleTV and It will not play through either, so I can't get it on my TV. I also wish I could just play music from the Apple Music app (or Pandora app, or Sirius app) and use the ProjectM app to convert it to visuals but you must add the songs to ProjectM's playlist. Not a big deal but it s something I think they can do away with soon. Finally, I really like the feature of touching the screen and causing the visualizer to react but I wish we could get it to do more then just change colors. All, in all this is a great visualizer app. I just hope they are not done perfecting it yet.

Thanks for update, still crashes on iPad Air 3. I had to fight Apple for an hour to get a refund on this $3 app that was non functional just a month ago, so I’m glad to see it’s been updated to work on modern iPads. But now that I’ve paid for it a second time, I’m disappointed that it crashes whenever I tap the settings button. But I guess that’s an improvement over not opening at all. Still waiting for when this app simply works.

Awesome app. I spent much more money for OSX visualizers to use in conjunction with my turntables and this app beats them all for much less money. I just mirror my iPhone to my Apple TV and it works wonderfully. There are a lot of great visual effects. The responsiveness is great as well. Really happy to find an app like this that suits my needs.

Widescreen Delight. This is the one to get. Includes total support for AirPlay Mirroring, and properly visualizes songs (unlike most apps which only respond to microphone input). Plus, it's got a tiny file size so you can save storage space for more important stuff...like uh, music.

Milkdrop on the iPad!. I had been hoping that the best music visualizer I have ever known would finally debut for the iPad and now it's here! There is no other visualization program in its league on the iPad...if you are in the market for a viz program, don't waste anymore time looking. And indeed, the TV output option is an added bonus. missing compatibility. I loved milkdrop for Winamp back in the day, and this app has some great visuals. Unfortunately it does not work with iTunes Match. I use iTunes Match rather than load all of my music on my iPad to save space, since I have more music than will fit on my iPad. If the dev can add support for iTunes Match, it would be a 5 star app. without the support, it's a waste of $ for me. I wish I had known that the app was not compatible with iTunes Match before buying. Hopefully support comes soon.

in a word: TRIPPY!!!. CAUTION! HABIT FORMING! (it's that good!) If you like random dancing visuals to watch while listening to your favorite music GET THIS APP! You can play from your library ON YOUR DEVICE while this app is running (it is a player) and let it cycle through its many many many colorful and beautiful patterns. Turns an iPad into a light show! I may be a bit biased but I recommend late 60's & 70's tunes!! No extra stimulant required! ;-D Go on. Get it! This one IS worth it!

Attention. Attention!!!!!! This is an awesome app I would have given 5 stars BUT when you use the app on microphone mode the in-app media setting pop up A TON of time it takes you out of the game, please change that so the ITunes media player is the media player for the game and move all other settings to the iPad stock setting app that way there is no reason to cause the in-app setting pop ups menus! Wonderful app. If you enjoy a colorful music show with your tunes, this is the app for you. I have had this app for some time and it is worth every penny. I am able to load my own music and use airplay on the tv to turn the room into the perfect atmosphere for entertainment or just a fun way to listen to music. I have had no problems and this is one of my top ten apps. Get this app you will love it.!!!!!

Visualizations are awesome if the app was functional.. This app is able to give the Winamp visualizer a run for it's money which why I made this purchase. That being said, I am very disappointed with this visualizer. The iPad/iPhone music player is able to play audio tracks from music videos and a large selection of my music are music videos. The music player in the visualizer can't play the audio tracks from the music videos. On top of that the music player in the visualizer doesn't recognize which audio tracks are from music videos and which ones are not. Every time you add a track to the playlist in the visualizer if it's an audio track from a video it crashes. I would have to memorize which music files are video and which one are not. Screw that. Useless. I want my money back.

Really want to use the app but it keeps crashing. This app is what I’ve been looking for in a visualizer because it brings me back to when I was a kid watching the windows xp music player when my dad would play music. I want to play my music on the app but every time I pick a song to add it, when I press the “done” button to add the song, the app crashes, it also crashes if I just press the play button. I really want to use the app so please respond and hopefully we could work this out :)

Beautiful visuals. I'm giving this app five stars as the best music visualizer I found. I wish there were a bit more interactivity between the music and visual, as the music's effect is very subtle. Sometimes you're not sure if it interacting at all. But this fault is made up for by first class lightshow visuals. If you like lightshows, you will not be disappointed by this app. They are stunning, creative and non-repetitive. I projected this app onto my ceiling with a projector box and it's fascinating to watch. Many kudos to the author. If you're out to buy one lightshow app, this should be it.

Seems broken. It doesn’t seem to work anymore. Hitting play does nothing and if I try to select songs from my music library nothing happens. Looks cool tho.

Need to add cloud support. From a visual standpoint this is the best visualizer for the iPad. Milkdrop is the best I have ever seen on PC so I was glad to find this app. Even is interactive when you touch the screen. More fingers = more shapes. The one draw back is the lack of support for music stored on cloud with iTunes Match. I have 5000+ songs in my library and will not use up my storage just to store them all on my iPad. Need to add support for the cloud stored music and this app will deserve 5 stars.

Amazing. I loved milk drop on Winamp, so I'm really happy to see it on iOS devices. I'm curious, could you add the ability to download our own presets and put them in a folder so only our favorites can play in a loop? I also wonder if the visualizations could react to the default music app that plays in the background, although the microphone option already works pretty close to that. Thank you for making this.

please update-till limited to "music" playlist" on lynne ,no radio. I love the visuals but I do not keep that many tunes on my iPad ,I stream soma fm and other podcasts . There is no way to have Project M work with my music choices as far as I can see it will not react to anything besides "music"app playlists .I tried having it pick up live mic but as soon as I activate project M my streaming podcast goes silent . Kind of sad as it is a beautiful looking visualizer ,but what’s the point if I am SO limited to just music app lYlist?

Great App, Great Developer!. ProjectM is definitely my favorite visualizers on the iPhone now! (I've tried a couple others). There's a TON of presets and the developer is awesome! I emailed him with a few concerns and the next update addressed every single one of them. So if you like music or visualizers don't hesitate to buy this app!

Needs update. Can’t load any new songs. Tapping the settings icon crashes app. Pressing play crashes app. Pressing next song crashes app. Please fix the bugs, this is an amazing app and I want to be able to enjoy it…

Needs to be updated. This is potentially amazing. Way better than any other music visualizer I can find on here, by far. There are so many different visualizations to pick from, and it’s compatible with AirPlay. However it doesn’t work properly. I can’t get it to function for more than one song. It needs to be updated, and unfortunately it looks like the support website has not been updated in years. Im pretty disappointed.

Awesome app, but.... I wish this would work for iTunes radio, pandora, or similar music streaming services without have to use the microphone feature to get it to work with another device that is streaming/playing online music. Other than that i would give 5 stars. I will continue to patiently wait for this feature, like i have for the past year that i have had this app in the purchased list.

The Visual preset menu not working!. I have the Iphone XR and purchased the pro version. Unfortunately the visual preset drop down button doesnt work, makes the app basically useless. Please fix ASAP!

Far Out. Love this app. I write psychedelic music and it plays my songs from iTunes with no issues while displaying visual eye candy. I am using an iPad Pro so that might help with it functioning smoothly. Recommend for a trip party or a good ole rave for a light show while hooked up to a big screen blasting tunes.

Best visualizer app. I have had this for a while the graphics are stunning and linked well with the music A few songs (actually all music from certain artist) would only play at a fast speed, they fixed it! Thanks Now I feel comfortable recommending this to anyone

Great app, not prerecorded videos. This app isn't a fake that shows you a video, it actually generates in front of your face. Works flawlessly awesome! Also doesn't require the mic to work. The only thing that needs improvement is compatibility with older ios versions. 4.2.1 please?

Good, but I am waiting for the update. In general a very good app, and I was pleased by the variety of possible visualizers (something I didn't expect to find). When using it on my iPhone, however, I regularly become aware of several bugs, such as navigation between songs being iffy and assembled playlists not being recognized (that is, one sometimes sees 'Playlist empty' even after songs have been added). Also, one specific song always plays at double the speed, which is puzzling. In any event, I'm sure these issues will be cleaned up in future versions, which I will be happy to download.

Still needs improvements. Overall the best psychedelic acid visual program on the market. Needs lots of features:gestures effects,cross fader mixer and link to audiobus. Still haves glitches,freezes and some D pixelated with box like pixels when I touch the screen.

Buyer Beware: only plays local files. Excitedly bought this just to be disappointed by the fact that when it is in the foreground, it silences your music app then only allows you to play from a playlist of local files.

This is dank. Yo it doesn't crash, it only crashes when the music you select has been imported to iTunes or put into your music library that you haven't payed for. So basically if you got your music on your device from anything else than iTunes that will cause it to crash, I don't know the details of why it does but yeah there's your answer. I rate this app a 5 star

I’ve been trying to find a decent visualizer for quite a long time and I’ve heard so many great things about this one, so I downloaded it and it won’t play my music through Apple Music. I’m very disappointed and I wish the developers would continue updating this amazing visualizer.

Better than the original milkdrop!. By far the best music visualization app!!! I absolutely loved the original milkdrop for Winamp and it's awesome to now have this available on iOS. Two suggestions: - make it available for appletv. It just isn't smooth enough to play via AirPlay. When it is available, it would be great if it also supported input from the microphone. - favorites list: users should be able to select their favorite visualizations, disabling the others and only cycling through the favorites. Great work on this!

Milk drop!!!!!!!!!!!. This app has made my year! I have been in love with Milkdrop 2 for what seems like a lifetime. To finally have this available on my iPad, not to mention being able to display it on my HD television in my living room is like a dream come true. Keep up the good work my friends!!!!

Not mad just disappointed. I can’t add music, for some reason every time I add a song and hit done it starts playing but it says playlist is empty. Then when I go to add songs again it doesn’t even show that it was added. It’s super frustrating because I was super excited about this as many others are. Please fix.

Like the app / nothing but potential but..... There is one thing more nagging than all the rest. Because of the visualizers inability to attach with cloud music, u are limited to music that's actually on the device which fine I understand. I have another visualizer called Carmen. When u open Carmen it immediately looks for all the tracks that can can be played with the visualizer. Although projectm is lightyears ahead as far as graphics, why I have to go find and pick All the compatible tracks out of my 7000 song catalog is stupid. By the way these compatible songs change all the time so u see where this becomes worrisome. Fix this and u get 5 stars

Will not work on iPod touch. This app works fine on my iPhone but it will not work on the iPod touch. The only workaround is if you choose the Select Music option FIRST. If you hit play first without manually selecting a song, or if you choose a visualization style first, the app will not work correctly. Why not list this as an incompatible device in the app description so people feel informed before buying it. Either that or release an update to address the problem.

FINALLY. I've been searching ever since iOS 3 for a music visualizer that could stack up to winamps visualizer from back in the day. I've tried just about all of them and none delivered. I was always frustrated and disappointed. I hesititated to spend $2.99 for this but out of extreme frustration I did it and I'm so glad I did! This is EXACTLY what I've been wanting for YEARS on my iphone. Loading music in is a bit quirky but that's ok, I'll take it compared to what everything else on the App Store is offering. Thank you SOOOO much!

Would be nice. Hey guys! Wish i could love this app as i am a huge fan of milkdrop and projectM… but unfortunately this app seems to be abandoned and does not work on iOS 16. Features i observed to not work - Next, previous and play/pause button does not work and causes app to crash Suggested add ons - ability to use system, internal audio as a input source, as not to rely on only Apple Music, or a microphone. Repository for common milk, drop presets, and or projectM presets. It’s unfortunate because this app has so much potential! Unfortunately, I had to request a refund and I hope that Apple will give me that…

Outstanding. I love my new iPad mini, and you guys have really brought it to life. I can't believe the variety of visualizations you have amassed. Really beautiful and mesmerizing. I'm still seeing new ones. So cool. Suggestions: - Am I missing a place where it indicates which visualization is being played? I want to learn the names of my favorites. - Can you enable playlists to be added all at once, and not require each track to be added individually? - I think it'd be cool if there were a "Music Video" setting where projectM selected a set of 3 or 4 visualizations to display during the course of song, going back and forth between them at random. Can't wait to show this app to friends.

Doesn’t work with ios 12.1.1. Pressing the settings icon causes a crash. Will not load or open any media files - the window opens, then immediately closes. This app was last updated to support ios 8 and iPhone 6, three years ago! Tried deleting and re-installing 4 times, no change. Will try for a refund from Apple, as there appears to be no way to contact the developer. App should be removed from the store!

Great visualizations. Love the graphics. It’s very reminiscent of the R4 Winamp plug-in. Love it. Tracks will not play though the app though.

Amended review- now works with iOS 14 devices. The visualizations are great and remind me of WinAmp’s MilkDrop vis. You can interact with the visualizations as well by placing your finger on the screen and moving it around- this is something you can’t do on PC with MilkDrop. Since the creator came up with an update, this now works in my iOS 14 devices. Great job! EDIT: Have to remove 1 star due to the fact that when you try to go into settings, it minimizes to the home screen instead. This needs to be addressed.

Buy it right now, but. Milkdrop is back in my life now thanks to this app, thank you I would pay for the next version but fix the issues on this version! Skips song when opening other apps is not something that should happen come on fix it, it ruins my flow. This is my most uses app i can spend hours staring at its pure beauty anywhere!

Like winamp on ios. Winamp is one of my top media players on pc because of the visualizations. But ever since i got windows 7 they crash the player. So it is nice having milkdrop visuals for music on something. My only critic is one preset seems broken. It froze while playing a song. But i hit random and all others seem fine. And hell i was not expecting that many presets without paying for extras. So i love this media player out of all i have tried yet. And i have tried 15 or more.

Amazing. Even tho the iTunes Match option is broken currently this app is amazing. So happy to have milk drop in my phone and with AirPlay screen share its on my appletv. So many different preset options. Love this. Please fix the iTunes Match problem

Refund. Requesting to be contacted regarding a refund. When you click on settings it just kicks me out of the app. Complete waste of money and will be contacting consumer for fair trade if I don't receive a reply. I Cant stand these rip off applications that don't work.

Brilliant on the IPad Pro 12.9 screen. I paid and downloaded this, expecting to be disappointed as I have been with others! WOW! This behaves as if it has just been made for the 12.9 screen and not out years ago for smaller screens. It's amazing! I'm in love! Broken in iOS 12. Won't load songs, can't hear the mic, crashes when pressing settings menu.

Can this get 0 stars?. Just purchased this in the hope I’d be able to use it with Spotify, or at least iTunes which it states it is compatible with. Not only does the app not connect to neither music service, but it barely works in general. On the times it does not crash, the app won’t let me access the help or settings tab as it will crash immediately and if I try to view my iTunes library through the app, the screen turns white then again crashes. Otherwise everything else works although still being useless without music. I’ve tried entering the app with music playing although it automatically pauses music when the app is opened and you cannot play music without leaving the app. Not only did I lose money on this purchase but I also lost loads of time trying to figure out if it was just my mistake that the app wouldn’t work. I’ve tried this with an IPad Air device running the latest IOS as well as an IPhone 6S device running the previous and current IOS. Don’t understand how this has a high rating...

Gorgeous. With the latest update, the visualisations look stunning on the iPhone 5 screen.

AirPlay Broken. I mainly purchased this for the AirPlay function which doesn't work on either my iPhone 4S or iPad 3. If I turn on AirPlay mirroring then launch the app, it crashes immediately. If I launch the app first, AirPlay is not available in the multitasking tray. Fix that and it will add a couple of stars.

Dose not run on new iPad. This app doesn't run on the new iPad with latest iOS 5.1.1 Please fix it and update ASAP .. ProjectM and milkdrop are the best Can't wait to see it on the retina display!

Best App of it's Type. Best iOS music visualiser there is, hands down. My only improvement would be to make the menu hide/show harder to hit by accident, like a double two finger tap or have it customisable.

Broken in IOS 14.5 - Should be fixed or removed!. I was looking for a simple tool to put some visuals to some music and read an App review which noted this App was very good and inexpensive. I got on my iPad, paid and installed it. Excited to use it only to find it doesn’t work. The App crashes when you go to settings, the menu doesn’t work and it won’t even load a playlist. Pretty poor and retrospectively looking at the ratings I note someone experienced the same issue a few years back. It should be fixed and a working version made available to those who have paid for the App, or, removed

Awesome visualiser for iOS. Are they still supporting this app or has it just fallen by the wayside? App states its compatible with '.milk' preset files. How do you add them to the app? I've been waiting for something like this. It's awesome for parties, I just AirPlay it to my TV.

Really. Bad, I want a refund. Crashes all the time and I am running IPad Pro with the latest update and 64 g of memory. Shuffle mode is a joke and you can’t play the music you want now. I am really disappointed by this stupid project M for: Merde. Scammers.

Not bad. Needs improvement. Not really impressed with interface music sensitivity, which doesn't seem to work that well. Audiogasm is much more reactionary to music and sounds, but doesn't look as good.

Can't select music, only shuffle. Beautiful app, works great in shuffle mode, but really annoying that it crashes EVERY time you try to select what you want to hear. Please fix this!

Doesn't play images on AirPlay. It air plays your music but not the image on your iPad to your tv. Why?!? Waste of money

Mic sensitivity?. Any chance we could get an adjustment for microphone sensitivity? It only seems to pick up really loud music right now.

Wonderful Fantastic Upgrade! It works again!. I’ve tried the others but they don’t measure up to ProjectM. For a while it would not open on my iPad IOS version and now it does! Spent many hours looking for something equivalent but IMHO none measures up to ProjectM! Thanks to the developers of this dynamic App! I’m reluctant to do any IOS Update now. Don’t want to see this app stop working again. I’m sure we wouldn’t mind paying a little bit for more IOS support. I’d love to have this on my iPhone 8!

Love it!!!. This app is worth every penny! What a variety and some amazing styles! Just wish that when I find one I liked I could find out the name of it so I could re-find it easily. Other than that it is amazing!

Phenomenal!. Exactly like Geiss and Milkdrop from back in the 90's and early 2000's. I use the new iPad (iPad 3) and the frame rate and resolution are perfect. Flows really nicely between presets, just like the old Winamp plugins. Thank you for this awesome trip!

iOS 12 broke HD video output.. I was using this program in a live context. I was very disappointed to see this and would not have updated my iPad had I known. Please, please fix this app for IOS 12. When I open settings it crashes immediately.

Does not work with iTunes Match !!!. I keep my music in the iTunes cloud, this app does not recognize this! Please fix this problem soon, it's a waste otherwise. No airplay, no iTunes Match this was the only reason I purchased this so I could use this on my home big screen, what a bummer.

No Apple Music support. Since there's no Apple Music support and the app doesn't allow music playing in a background app it doesn't work for my purposes. If they modified it to allow playing music from another app I'd rate it higher.

Neato!. Cool to have this on iOS, fluid on first gen iPad. I like the fact you can touch the viz and create your own motion trails. Would love to see the addition of picking up system audio and microphone as input sources.

Pretty good, but.... Could probably use a microphone sensitivity adjustment. Doesn't seem to be quite as responsive as it should be. If I stick the iPod right next to a speaker it might help, but that's inconvenient. Otherwise, nice work...

Great so far except.... When I open up the preset menu, I can't click on any. It lets me sometimes but once I scroll down a bit, it inhibits me from choosing any. Also there are times when it is unresponsive to the music.

Pretty Disappointed. Sweet graphics, but apparently this app isn't compatible with iTunes Match. None of my playlists were shown when selecting music to play. Hopefully they can fix that. Otherwise I just waisted my money.

Awesome. Works great on my iPad Air. Milkdrop has always been the best visualizer and it's really cool to see what's being done with it.

Project M. This is a very cool app , love to listen to my 70's music ,watching these great visual actions and colors interact .One of my top five apps and I have 150 apps !

Spin and zoom?. Please update so I can switch the controls to spin and zoom instead of the color lines used to do that on my Samsung only disappointment with this app on iOS

Needs iPhone 8 support. I had a lot of fun using this app on my 5S, but when I tried to use it on my iPhone 8, it crashed when I tried to open it. It's a great app, but it needs an update.

Please! Please! If you could... ..make this possible to cast! AirPlay and ChromeCast would be amazing with this. Hands down best visualizer on the market. I have had this for some time now and it still impresses me with its visuals and syncing to music.

I love the visualizer, and the team, but the app is useless for streamers. Please update the settings to be able to interface with output streams from other apps. I stream everything. I should be able to enjoy the app and listen to my library remotely. I will change my rating to a 5 if this is addressed.

Awesome.... This app brings me back to the days of Winamp and Milkdrop, the visuals add a new dimension to my music. With this app I want to listen to my favorite songs all over again, with a good pair of headphones it's like you're floating in space. Highly recommended.

Great. Problems switching between music and ProjectM didn't remember playlist I selected and while running ProjectM the songs played in high speed

Issues. I am having issues with this app. When I click on select music the app closed. I really have enjoyed this app and would like to know how to fix this. Paid $2.99 for this app wouldn't expect issues. I deleted and reinstalled the app and still won't work.

Projects. Displays changing colorful displays but has almost no sensitivity to music playing, i.e. display is essentially independent of any music playing. No way to adjust this sensitivity. I was expecting display to change responsive (in some way) to music:

Fix Minuit issue ! Please. Love the app but would love it even more if it would play my music better. Some if my songs are played in fast forward or in slow down. Some songs get speeded up in a "chipmunk " voice rather then it regular. And vise versa but only some songs. I don't know why.

Combine w Audio app. This should be able to be used with any other music app or anything else playing audio on your iPad. Like djay pro. When starting ProjectM all audio stops. Regardless of the music app being used.

Won't play music!. I press play, nothing happens! What's up?! I select music, nothing happens! Is this not compatible with iTunes Match? When I play a song from the iOS Music app and then try to skip forward a song within the visualizer app it just freezes up. So far it's junk to me. Waste of money. Running iOS 8.1.1 on iPhone 6. Please fix. With all the positive reviews I know this must be capable of working.

Broken. Had this app on an iPhone 6 and loved it. I recently upgraded to an XS and it doesn’t work at all, the music button won’t register and the settings button makes it crash.

No iPhone 5 support. I love this app but it's pretty annoying to pay 3 dollars for an app that doesn't support the iPhone 5 months after its release. I hope the developers update this soon and then it will be a 5 star app.

Best Visualizer that no longer works. Best visualizer i’ve come across, too bad it no longer works on the new software.

App not working well. Looks interesting, but does not appear to work completely on my 3rd generation touch. Can only select a few presets, and even this is inconsistent. No real ways to adjust settings. Very sparse help in the app. Am I missing something? If an update fixes these, I'll be happy to update my review, but as it stands now, it looks promising, but needs work.

Great!. Been lookin for a while for something like this. Now how can we get the video from the app to my HDTV? Same with sound... I stream from slacker or pandora... Those two features are key!

Great !!. This is my first music visualizer app and it is crazy cool. smooth to the touch and i just live that touch response it puts in the visualizer . I get lost for hours .no issues crashing or anything . iPhone 5

It's great. I LOVE THIS APP I bought this years ago and they're still making free updates. Trippy windows media player type app for visualization! Works great.
