Bad compiler.. First off, for the others looking at the reviews, If you want something to program on, just use Apple ][js. Its on the internet. Now for a message directed to the developer. Before you put in a lazy, automated message, I would like you to explain how in the world you think that the "pay before you use" thing works. Hell, Winzip lets you use their program for free; EVEN IF IT PROMPTS YOU TO BUY. Why not do that instead?

Pro Apple Basics Con No trial period. I really like how your program supports the classic Apple Basics. Why require the user to purchase compiles right off the bat? How do I know if I like the interpreter or not? I think it’s a great way to have money coming in. Maybe the first five or six tries are free.

Bait & Switch. The "free" category is false advertising. It is not free. You must pay to compile.

Bugs. IF C >= BV(n) THEN B(n) = B(n) + 1:C = C - BV(n) This should only execute the second statement if condition is met, but it always executed it.

For a dollar... I'll save your dollar. The reference for its commands is lacking severely. You get a list to various basic dialects.. not a specific document created for THIS compiler. It has no program output. It only runs in the compiler. I am going to request a refund from apple. Not a happy buyer... even for a dollar.

Input. Input statement does not allow you to input with the keyboard.

An interesting way to rip people off.... ... By selling them a car and telling them they can drive it twice... Then they have to buy more trips. Seriously, I got this app because I wanted to relive some of the fun I had playing in the BASIC programming language in the 70's and 80's. Not this one. It let me do two "compiles" before telling me I needed to buy more. Hahaha. Anyone that programs knows that sometimes you have to "run" a program hundreds if not thousands of times as you tweak and adjust it. Stay away from this app. You're just renting the privilege of using it a couple times.

Ron DiGiovanni. Understand how this works. For 2 bucks you become a captive member of the Dmitry Kovba society. The app is a service which lets you tie into Mr. Kovba's computer via the internet. When you write a program in Dartmouth Basic, you upload it into Dmity's server. Then when you want to run the program you have to go back to Kovba's computer, each and every blessed time. As a result, each simple run of a simple program is shockingly slow. In addition, if you write something brilliant and/or useful, it instantly becomes Dmitry's property. In other words, although it would be very easy to write a Dartmouth Basic app which could be completely downloaded into an iPhone or iPod, which would allow the user to operate independently and completely free of tether, this is definitely not the case here. There are other problems with Dmity's software itself. For example, if you want to write a simple program involving trignometric functions, the software does not recognize angular measurement in degrees. Everything has to be converted to radian measurement. Pretty tacky. If we all resist the temptation to waste 2 bucks, sooner or later someone will come by with a real Dartmouth Basic app. Ron DiGiovanni Easton, PA

Go elsewhere. I wrote programs years ago, on the Mac and Apple IIe, in basic. The first 10-line program I wrote with this app timed out after about 5 seconds of compiling. Look elsewhere if you want an app that allows Basic programming. One star, in my opinion, is too much. As for trying to report the problem through apple, you CAN'T. The page they bring up contains nothing but your receipt. Shame on you MegaKey & Dmitry Koyba.

Unreliable. This is nothing like BASIC compiler. Very very bad.

Don't bother.. Only allows one free compilation. Not worth the time.

Retired. Pretty good. Love the reference page. However, ? not translated as PRINT, can't add new lines out of sequence and error message "the program exceeded time limit" pops up instead of "missing closing " in print statement" Guess I learned too many bad habits using Commodore 64 basic!

one compile limit. worthless with just one compile - not enough for evaluation. Also it's not like everyone is using basic nowadays.

Terrible!. 1 compile before require additional purchase? This stinks! Can't evaluate value with one compile. Would give zero stars but this system won't let me.

Don’t waste your time. This app simply does not work. Support is useless.

Stay away. You can download for free but must pay $.99 to do compiles. Even if you pay , it's hard to use. You have to use line numbers and the help file is useless. Put in cloud and when downloaded it wanted me to pay to compile again even after I payed for unlimited compiles. Don't get taken

Compilations. I purchased unlimited compilations yet I try a simple 3 line program and it still says I need to purchase more. Something isn’t working. It could probably be fixed?

Terrible. Doesn't handle the most basic of BASIC commands.

Bait and switch. Purports to be a free app, but is totally unusable without paying inside the app. Worthless and a huge waste of time, as I had already typed in my programming before hitting the paywall.

Not worth it!!. So you are paying for your program to be compiled in the internet and must not take too long to run!

Garbage - don’t waste your time. So apparently you need to buy a number of compilations before it will let you compile and run ANYTHING, because the “free” app lets you compile ZERO times before you have to pay I can’t imagine how many potential purchases didn’t occur, because you can’t even test the apps function ONCE before it asks you for money - I wouldn’t mind paying for the something that I knew would actually work, but the developer doesn’t seem to understand the basics of marketing their own product Their loss I guess…

Absolute Rubbish! NOT WORTH 1 STAR!. Don't waste your money like I did! They don't tell you that you need to be connected to the Internet; and you cannot run an UNcompiled program. YOU HAVE TO COMPILE IT to run it! If you are lucky! (Mine timed out each time with an 8 line program!) If you make an error programming it doesn't tell you where or what the error is! - just says ! Good luck!

Not free, so expect to pay $1.29. Great if you don't want to actually compile and run the code you have written. Lame effort mate, all your effort to write a great program is wasted because you wasted my time. Sorry. Try making it free and maybe charge for a manual or something, or awesome code samples, or tutorials....
