Wants me to pay again. Unable to access the locked content. It’s telling me I need to pay again. Logged into my account from a web browser and my RW+ account is good for almost a full year. Emailed MAZ and they only emailed me instructions on how to log in but never addressed the actual issue of blocking paying customers from accessing the content.

Doesn’t work. I am unable to turn a page on the new issue. Have tried on 2 different iPads and my phone without any success

Unable to log into the app. I’m an RW subscriber and can only access content via web browser. The app doesn’t recognize my login info and reinstalling the app does not solve the problem.

Run Fast. I love this platform, I am usually not the type of person to read to much. But Runner’s world really gave me the motivation to read what I love. If you are into running I highly recommend Runners World.

Worst Magazine App...Ever. I am so sick of this app. No matter how I change the settings, on both the app and my iPad, the app continuously un-downloads the magazines I want stored on my tablet. My iPad can only access the internet via WiFi, so it’s incredibly important to have these downloaded. Moreover, yesterday when I went to use some of the strength-training exercises at the gym, I could not open the app at ALL because it wasn’t connected to WiFi. I could understand this if anyone ever read a magazine on their phone for fun, but no one does that, so it doesn’t make sense that this isn’t optimized for tablet users. The “new” reading format is a serious downgrade from the simple PDF format of before. When it comes to turning something analog into digital, it truly is best to keep it as simple as possible. Take a look at how books are digitalized. Copy that. Keep it simple. Please.

App freezes, CS non existent. This app for both Runners World and Bicycling Magazine used to be good. But for the last six plus months I’ve had issues with pages freezing, magazines not downloading fully. Have written to their app support almost monthly with no response. Not a thing. Apple, are you paying attention, hold these app developers to task regarding quality of apps. Do not subscribe to magazines using this app. Beware!

Can't read the magazine. I have had this app for a long time and it was fine especially after they fixed the offline issue. However, this past month the app stopped working. I just repaid the $20 subscription but now when I try and open the most recent issue the app always crashes. I have tried restarting my iPad, checking for updates, deleting and redownloading the app but it keeps crashing. That was a waste of $20....

App crashes constantly. I have had constant issues with this app crashing while trying to read the magazine. Has been an ongoing problem through multiple updates. I find the only way I can get it to not crash is by switching to the pdf version of the magazine.

Can’t download nor read magazines. I can’t download nor read issue any longer. This is the 2nd month this has happened. Hopefully, they fix it soon. Otherwise, it was a waste of a magazine subscription.

Unfair for existing subscribers. I have an Ipad existing subscription but everything disappeared and I also lost all my downloaded previous issues. I tried to upload all again to no avail. Runner’s should have honored the subscriptions that have not expired yet, and THEN change its rules. Unfair and unprofessional.

App doesn't work. Same issues as everyone on here. App freezes every time I try to download an issue. Haven't been able to download anything in 6+ months, so not sure where my $20/year is going. If you call iTunes directly, they will refund you. Don't bother calling Rodale or anyone at Runner's World. They are completely worthless and not helpful and don't seem to care at all about keeping subscribers.

How the heck do you download issue?. The updated app instructions indicate that there should be a star that you select to download an entire issue to read offline. The stars only appear for individual articles inside of an issue. I shouldn't have to download each article individually. *Update* as of July 14, they've fixed the offline magazine glitch

App no longer allows viewing. I have subscribed continuously to RW since 2007 and hav enjoyed improvements in the publication (links within the articles, neat page transitions, the ability to ‘star’ my fav articles, and of course, fabulous running support). I used to look FORWARD to each new issue. In the past 3-4 years I hav been unable to read the mag but didn’t cancel my script until today. I was holding out hope that they would fix the App problems, but I’m done! I’ve deleted and reloaded the app more than thrice, thinking that doing them at different times I might catch an ‘update’ that fixes the App problems. No go, my zines show they are in the cloud but the cover images never populate and calling in did not work. I got the runaround on more than 3 occasions. I am sorry to say goodbye but I am done wasting my money on something I can’t even enjoy. I have 3 years worth of zines that I haven’t been able to even see the covers let alone READ. Goodbye RW.

Help!. I’m subscribed- and sign in. I can’t access anything except emails and the first page or 2 of online articles. I’ve tried reaching out to customer service - but it requires an account number, which I don’t have because I haven’t received a magazine yet, which is WHY I’m trying to reach customer service.

Weird. Great information but bad digital subscription deployment.

App freezes...... Why has this app not been fixed? Nearly every comment in the last 6 months says the same thing—buggy, slow to respond, and now can’t get the app to work without freezing or even download a copy of the magazine. I wrote the developer a week ago to avoid this public berating, but no response. I really enjoy the magazine and prefer digital content, but if the app doesn’t get fixed, I might revert back to print or just forgo my subscription all together. And yes, this also happens with the Bicycling App. FIX IT!! After all, isn’t that what part of my subscription goes to?!?

Doesn’t work on iPad. Been a subscriber for years and got a new iPad. The app is useless and can’t access the content that I paid for. Even tried deleting and downloading app again a few times.

App won’t load issues; developer won’t respond. App won’t load issues; developer won’t respond. Ridiculous. I’ve been waiting a month for response from the developer. App used to work fine but has not displayed issues for 6 months.

App doesn’t allow access to the magazine. This app is powered by a third party company ‘MAZ’. It won’t allow logins 98% of the time. When it does, it kicks out a server error. In looking at the other Hearst magazines that use the MAZ platform, this is a common issue and has been for some time. There doesn’t appear to be an easy way to contact support to resolve this issue. I fear canceling will be my path forward, which is a shame since I love Runner’s World and don’t want a print subscription.

Won’t download issues nor restore previously downloaded magazines. The app just freezes and nothing get downloaded. It won’t restore previously downloaded issues either. I have annual subscription that can’t be used so I wouldn’t use this app !

Not allowing View unless I pay again. I paid for a plus subscription and now have to pay again to use the app. Should be free with a subscription. Also sent messages to Maz several times and no response after weeks. I paid $60 per year for plus and have to pay an additional $5per month to use the app despite the subscription indicating RW plus includes print and digital.

App won’t download issues. Not sure what happened but my app will no longer pull up issues or download for offline reading. The app dies before any download progress is made. I am paying for a subscription I cannot actually use. Please let me know where I can get a refund. My iPad software is up to date and I’ve deleted+reinstalled the app twice. I would not recommend this app or subscription.

Doesn’t save your place. The app has improved since its previous version that was so bad I cancelled my subscription. But it seems like it would be a simple thing to open back up to the page I left off reading. Instead mag is closed and then you have to find your place again.

Works fine. Not sure why there are negative reviews. You can read any Runners World issue you want (I think). I scrolled back a many years and stopped cause it just kept going and going and going. Plenty of running articles... I doubt I’d ever get thru that many, but good to know I have the option. Note: 4 stars instead of 5 cause when in PDF view the bottom is cut off slightly. You can still read it all (especially if you use text view) but it’s just slightly annoying to me it gets cut off in that view.

Faulty App. Wont let me log into my account, saying my subscription has expired. But I still have full access to my Runners World+ subscription on my computer. So I know its just the app.

Crash. Dude! Fix this, or give me my money back. Cover is great and all, but I kinda wanted to read the issue. Hard when the app crashes every 10 seconds.

App either failed to load, show any content, or allow me to access my library. Unreliable at best. Unable to access content for weeks if not months.

Worst subscription app ever. I have been a long time subscriber but suddenly all my issues stopped. App says I have an active subscription but can’t find me email, etc. Tried to reset my account but never received the email to do so. Emailed customer service and never got a response. Seriously this is the worst service experience I have encountered.

What Thanks?. I have been a member for the past 8 months, now you say you haven’t heard of my email and the magazines I have at home, have running time on them. What’s next? Are you guys Not going to send me to rest of my two year issues?!!?

Freezing. App continues to freeze. This has been going on for a while. Please fix so I can read an article all the way through with out having to restart the app after reading every paragraph.

App became buggy. This app used to work great and I liked the articles—super motivating! However, now there is no article feed on my app and it just gives me the option to download the latest magazine for $5.99. There’s no place where I can log in to my Runner’s world+ subscription. So now I just use the website on my internet app to read the articles and have to log in each time. There’s no point in having the app at all :(

Too good!!. Awesome experience.....almost as if reading the magazine. No bugs.

App constantly blanks out. I have a 1 year old iPad and this app always seems to blank everything out. I cannot download, I cannot even see the covers. I have tried reloading the app and it doesn’t help. To the point of dropping my subscription.

App not usable. I liked the content of the magazine, but I can no longer actually see it, as the app does not function properly on my iPad. It won’t download the magazine, and the developer Maz, has not responded to inquiries for help. I’ve canceled my subscription until I can actually read it.

Didn’t let me sign in. Refused to let me sign in. I even went online and changed my password, and it still didn’t work. Would love if this would get fixed.

Apple, Great; RW, not so much.. I have been a subscriber to Runner’s World on and off for many, many years. The past few years, I have subscribed and enjoyed the magazine through iTunes. Since Hearst purchased the magazine, the app has been glitchy. It now freezes and will not open. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail. I phoned RW and they referred me first to a website, then to Apple. Their support phone line didn’t even try to help. Apple support said that all they could do was confirm my subscription. You can’t really expect Apple support to know the ins and outs of each of millions of apps, so that makes sense. When I told Apple that RW had not helped but had referred me to them, Apple support offered me a refund. So, I received great support from Apple. Kudos to Apple! But, Runner’s World, or more rightly, Hearst, doesn’t seem to give a hoot.

Terrible App. This is one of the worst apps. Each time there is a new issue some type of glitch happens. This time we could not advance pages. The cover came up but can’t turn a page. Something different every time there is a new issue. The only way we have found to fix these issues is to delete the app, download it again from the App Store and hope that fixes the problem. I guess Hearst is fine with a lousy app so long as the political agenda gets published.

Worst app ever. Every month the login doesn’t work. Customer service takes weeks to sort it and it’s incredibly hard to cancel subscription. The BBB should investigate this company.

SAD TO SAY GOODBYE. Today is a sad day for me, being a Runner’s World reader since the eighties, it’s time to not renew my subscription. I can’t open the magazines even I had paid till tomorrow. This app doesn’t work. I sent emails and I didn’t receive any answer. Sad that Runner’s World had changed so much and don’t pay attention to their loyal customers. Reinaldo Daes.

I like that content can be unlocked without subscription. I love being able to buy certain magazines without subscription but I wish the older issues were less expensive than brand new issues.

Junk. Same issues as everyone else. Can’t login. It’s probably intentional so you just subscribe again. Very upsetting considering I enjoy the magazine but this is ridiculous.

Subscription. I spent 30$ or whatever for full access and I’ve received one magazine. I’ve tried to log in to the app but it says my password or email is wrong which is impossible! I’m a little annoyed because I love Runner’sWorld I’ll see where this goes and update when anything new happens.

When do magazines release on here?. I love the app, but I seen the November/December issue for sale on Barnes and Nobles but it’s not on here yet? If anything magazines should be popping up on here first.

No stars for you. (I had to put one, zero not an option). Please fix this app. Will not down load new magazines. Freezes on ones that have been downloaded. Will terminate my subscription until I learn that this app has been repaired!!! I feel I’ve been patient. Now I’m beginning to feel ripped off! P. S. I don’t write many reviews. Please take the complaints constructively

MN runner girl. I enjoy the wide range of information provided in your articles…keep it up!

What is $1.99 Subscription?. I subscribed to the $1.99 subscription ...and still could not read the articles posted on my Facebook or in the App...(obviously the magazines required the $5.99 subscription...) When I emailed RW about what is included in the $1.99 subscription, there was no reply... Very Disappointed....

Lack of customer service. I signed up for the app, hard copy magazine and other perks. The app continually asks me to activate my subscription and when I follow steps in the FAQ section it doesn’t work. I have repeatedly reached out to the email provided with no response

Crashing. I paid a 1 year subscription for this app and it will not let me download or read anything. Crashes when I try to submit an email from settings. This is almost like a theft. I have tried removing the app reinstalling. I have the latest iPad OS. When will you fix this?

Stinks. I wish I could give the app zero stars. The App doesn't remember my subscription information and locks me out. I have been locked out of my subscription twice this year. Technical support has been slow to respond and their suggestions the second time did not solve the problem. I am still locked out. So I can’t read anything.

Not impressed. Why do I need Facebook to have this app? I don’t use Facebook. Got the app and did a subscription yet cannot log in unless I have facebook? Your content better be better than your logic. Already unimpressed.

Looks great. Love the magazine in this format, looks better than paper. Have had problems in the past when downloading new issues, but not recently..recommend it

Worst interface for magazines I've ever seen. Despite an update, it has to be the worst magazine interface on iPad ever. Navigation is slow and doesn't allow for a tiled view. Navigation within the magazines themselves is also slow and clunky. I had running guides that I had purchased through the app before the big change that are no longer visible. I would give this negative stars if I could. If there is no change in the next month, I will be cancelling my subscription. Why would your company have changed to something that works so poorly that it is almost laughable?

Great mag. Reasonable subscription price. Timing was perfect for discontinuing my printed subscription and going digital. Just wish the accounts linked so I wouldn't be bothered with printed renewal notices anymore.

Garbage app. Crashes daily. Worst app interface ever. And it’s always been like that. Garbage

Good, but no landscape format. My only gripe is that you can't turn in landscape reading format. Besides that, a great mag to read on the iPad.

Great magazine. I don't subscribe so I can't really comment regarding the subscription service but the app itself is quite nice. I like the fact that it stays in portrait view so it feels as though your reading a page from an actual magazine.

Way better than the print version. Good use of multimedia. Well laid out. I would give it 5 strs if I could bookmark and annotate, but that may be an Apple restriction, I am not sure. Competitive price.

App poor, and magazine now bi-monthly!. App keeps crashing or thinking its in airplane mode. IPad and iPhone app the same even when i am on 600MB/s wi-fi. Plus going in to the main magazine selection only has white backgrounds even when the app does connect. Not really user friendly to select which issue you want. Magazine also used to be monthly, but now its closer to bi-monthly. I bought a subscription thinking it was 12 issues, but what i am getting this year is more like 6. They have just come out with issue 5 for the year at the start of September.

Toujours satisfait. J ai cette application depuis un an et je suis toujours satisfaite, les revues mensuels sont notifiés et je n ai connu aucun bogue . Les extra vidéo sont super!

If u r a runner this is a great app. Great app

New format?. I'm not a fan of the new e-magazine format. I may be old school, but I was very happy when it emulated the print version. I miss "thumbing" through; I actually miss the ad's; and I miss the table of contents with descriptions of the articles.

Enjoy Magazine Content But Platform Is Problematic. Too many download issues. May go back to paper version.

Not a good experience so far. I love runners world. But this app takes forever to download, it's slow, inconsistent, and I'm not happy at all. Hoping that things will improve.

Assez satisfaite. Préférée sur iPad.

Good information. Unlike some I really like the layout on the iPad , although the information is the same as the print version that's is exactly what I wanted. I also like the hot links that bring me to the web for additional information. Keep up the good work Runners World.

Problem with Download. There is a problem downloading thevDecember issues after the recent update.

Cannot download. No iPad content. But to make matters worse, I cannot download the latest version - keeps coming up as an error. Please sort out these bugs - I have paid my subscription I should be able to access my magazine.

Awful. Awful. I paid for a year subscription but can't get access to the current issue. I have followed all the instructions to restore purchases but the instructions seem to be for an older version of the app. Customer service have yet to get back to me. What a waste of money.

Not great. Over priced and underweight, nothing more than a scan of the print version, save your dollars buy something made for the iPad.

Subscription. Too bad there is no iPad specific content. It would also be nice if I could register my print version instead of paying twice. It would be nice to have either option available.

Nothing Special.. Honestly, the magazine is alright but nothing special. Too bad there isn't any iPad content. At $15 (for the year) it didn't break the bank, but I strongly doubt I'll renew.

App problem. Cannot download the app?

Finally on iPhone. Happy to be able to read Runner's World on the iPhone.

Magazine. I love this magazine but I don't really like how long it takes to download...

Good magazine terrible app. The text quality for this magazine on the iPad is really lousy. They need to take advantage of the iPad screen and make it pleasant to read.

App review. I like this app, but I wish you could turn to a certain page, rather than having to go page by page. I also which is wasn't just in portrait mode, I prefer landscape for reading.

Very bad. The app is aléas bugging.

Be careful. The App is ok but I REALLY don't like the way the subscription renews (a whole year) and is non cancellable. That is just wrong!

Terrible Interface. I'm not sure they could have come up with a worse interface if they tried. The text mode doesn't allow zooming. The review of winter shoes in the December issue would be useful if it had hot links to the individual reviews. PDF view is offered, but has not links from the table of contents, and when you switch from text to PDF it sends you back to the cover page, regardless of where you were in the issue. This will be the last issue I buy until this is fixed. Absolutely terrible.

Love it!. Pros: available immediately, same as print issue, hot links, saves trees Cons: stuck in portrait mode (only reason I gave it 4 stars not 5) Unlike some other reviews, I have never had an issue with downloading or restoring purchases. Will renew my subscription!

What's free about this app?. Why does this show as a "Free" app when there is absolutely nothing free about it. The only thing on the app is Magazine and other purchases.

Very nice. Rodale has done a great job of porting their pubs to ebooks.

Unable to restore subscription. I love getting my issue of Runner's World ahead of print subscribers. However, I docked the rating because I am currently unable to restore my purchases and have no magazines on my iPad. I deleted the app and reinstalled the app and I am STILL UNABLE to download my previous issues. I e-mailed iTunes and called Runner's World and they both kept telling me to contact each other and sent me on a wild goose chase! Fix your app!

Runners world. Love this magazine on my iPad

Love it!!. Love this magazine on this platform. Love the fact I can tag favorite articles...will never buy in paper form again.

Hate the new version of the app. The changes are horrid! Magazine returns to cover page every time you leave the app, so you have to keep hunting for where you left off. The "text version" which is unattractive is the default....it's just a mess. Don't know how anyone imagines this is an improvement.

Won’t work with subscription.. Itonemailbox

Can't even open app. I'm a previous subscriber and I was hoping to catch back up with one of my favorite magazines, but I can't even get the app to open! Every time I try to download an issue, the app crashes and refuses to reopen. I sent an email to customer support and was told to delete the app, download again and check for updates. Which was the first thing I did before contacting customer support. Since I responded with that information, however, I've received no response. I'm extremely disappointed and I would love a refund for my subscription. Do not bother downloading this app. Subscribe through the Nook app so you have a chance of actually being able to open and read the magazine.

Great magazine. Great app.. Update: The last couple issues of Runner's World have been really stable on my iPad. I really appreciated the Boston Marathon oral history in the May, 2014 issue - an iPad exclusive. Original review: I love Runner's World, and I'm thrilled to be able to read it on my iPad. In fact, I finally broke down and got a subscription as a present to myself. There's just the right mix of informational and inspirational articles to keep my interest, and photos of amazing runs and runners to make me incredibly jealous. The app does tend to crash a lot, though. In fact, it consistently crashes in the ad section if the current issue. I really wish they would straighten these kinds of problems out, because I love reading and re-reading every issue.

Don't listen to the 1 stars. First off, most of the complaints about the app aren't about the app itself but that fact that current subscribers of the print edition are not getting the iPad edition included for free. The app is just a conduit the iPad edition. The magazine is great and now that I can get without killing a tree even better. So to all the whiners who gave this a 1 star rating for being cheapskates relax. Rodale publishing never promised digital + print editions for one price. This a great mag and I have almost always had a subscription.

Love all the extra content. I've had the app downloaded for a while, but only recently had my subscription transferred from physical magazine to iPad. I only wish I had done it sooner. Everything I love about the magazine is still there, but now all of the extras are at my fingertips. I do find it annoying that it seems to want you to view the different content in a certain orientation, but I guess I'll get used to that. I'm just glad customer service was able to transfer my membership without any trouble.

Bait and switch. Presented as a free app leading you to believe that you would at least have the opportunity to read an edition or two to decide about subscribing. Download the app and all you get is the opportunity to pay a rather stiff price to see anything. I dropped my print subscription many years ago when Rodale acquired the magazine and morphed it from a serious running publication to a diet, weight control, and chick magazine. I was hoping to be able to read a recent issue to see if it had more relevance to my interests. Unfortunately, I was not able to accomplish this. This app is disappointing and misleading.

Needs improvement. Of course I love the content but the glitchiness and long time it takes to download each issue is very annoying. I don't understand where my October issue went...just disappeared, and it took so long to download the December issue I gave up on it. Wish it had a bookmark that would re-open where you left off. Also...how annoying that with my iPad in my square stand, I can't read anything because it is in the horizontal view and doesn't switch to vertical view. Give me back my paper.

Horrible new format, hard to navigate. This new look is boggy and slow to respond to finger swipes. There is a noticeable lag when going to a new page or just scrolling through one page. As far as readability there isn't much positive to say. I like the clean look, but there isn't much to anchor my eyes as I move around each page. The narrower columns of the previous look were easier to read (and yes, I know that is because they are just like the print magazine). Runner's World could incorporate a similar design to what Outside magazine uses - it retains the look and feel of a print magazine, but allows you to scroll through articles without sacrificing readability. It looks familiar, but manages to keep a lot of information on the page without looking cluttered (no more continued on page ## anymore!). Everything looks so spaced out now with the new design, and with the small type it is harder to read. I'll check out the print edition - but if this redesign extends to that as well, I'm cancelling my subscription. Sorry, Runner's World.

Cant get past Cover of May 18 issue. Crashes soon after opening. Reset iPad doesn't help. I only use this device for this mag.

Excellent Running Resource! 🌟. The Runners World App is stunning!!

Runners World Portrait View Only. Overall the use of this app is great. I like being able to electronically view/carry all the subscriptions I've ordered along with the ability to buy past subscriptions. It would be nice if you could read the publication in landscape as well as portrait. Also, if you have a digital subscription it would be a plus to be able to read from a PC screen as well via maybe a web portal.

Worse than Nook Version. No preview on PDF version, unlike Nook and how it was previously on iOS. Offline reading is broken, you can't tell when the entire magazine is downloaded or even IF its downloaded, and the PDF version always starts from page one even if the last page you were reading was 60 pages in. And when you turn a page, it takes an age to render. The article view is not a replacement for the prior experience. It might work on the iPhone but the iPad version is much much worse. Somehow an app that has been great since 2011 has been completely borked. Nice one.

Top and bottom of magazine are clipped. The navigation clips the magazine.

1 thing app needs before I subscribe. I downloaded a sample of the latest issue and the good news and bad news is that it is just a digital copy of the magazine. The good news is that you are getting exactly what print subscribers read, nothing more, nothing less. The bad news is that they are trying to fit the actual page content on to the iPad screen. The print is extremely small and you must zoom in to read articles. Runners world should take a look at how Men's Health magazine is formatted. It is built for the iPad with interactive features and much easier reading experience.

Enjoyable, user friendly, inspirational. I was a First time reader of this magazine, when I subscribed. My year subscription is almost over and will be resubscribing. This magazine got me out there running as a novice, and although I may be far from pro I have made great ground from their inspiration. The app itself is easy to use, once in awhile laggy, but that may be the Internet or iPad. I have had no issues in the 10 months of purchase, so I hope you all the best and happy running. Magazine well done, app well done, 4 stars because as for most magazines a lot of advertising and marketing. They need a few more articles and info per magazine for the quantity of ads they push.

The other Mags get it, why don. I'm a long-time print subscriber but on principal alone I will not pay twice for your content to display on my iPad. Time, Fortune & Money, all have similar iPad apps that are made available to the print subscribers at no additional cost. Time was stubborn at first but they wised up. You should do the same. You should want your customers to embrace this type of technology. What you are likely to find is that your customers will become even more "sticky". Currently all you're really doing is creating "bad will" with your base and showing your back-side a bit. Start 2012 off right and make it available to your print subscribers at no additional cost. Good things will come back to you.

Slow Delivery. UPDATE - 31 January 2015: March 2015 edition available on file sharing sites. I wonder how long before it's available on the iPad app.... I have had an iPad subscription for over 2 years. Today is the 14th of December and I noticed that I am able to download a PDF version of January's edition from file sharing sites as far back as 10 December. But January's iPad magazine still isn't available. Even the Running Times iPad magazine was available 2 days ago, and they are notorious for delivering late. My advice to potential Runners World customers is to check your local library first. The Zinio app paired with a decent library will get you Runners World and The Running Times for free every month.

Cancelling.. This format change for the Rodale publications was a horrible idea. The previous version was awesome and I really looked forward to it. It also had video and audio content and was interactive. This low-res PDF thing is a joke. It reminds me of my high school yearbook. Why would I pay for this? The only thing that looks not-wonky in the magazine are the ads, because at least those look like a scan. I feel like I've waited long enough for a fix on this awful format, so I'm cancelling. It is unpleasant to use this app. I don't know what Rodale was thinking.

Very decent price, but Need to add links.... You need to add links to pages that you can just tap on and have it take you to either the page in the magazine that has more info about that topic or takes you to a website. Other than that, I love the app....beautiful interface and very decent price on yearly subscription (I just now discovered this magazine, so I was never a print subscriber anyway)

Very good digital content. Not being a print subscriber I don't have any of the issues that others have regarding pricing and such. I'm only evaluating the digital version itself. With that, it's a really well designed app, easy to use table of contents, and otherwise basically just like reading the magazine on the iPad. If anyone subscribes to GQ on the iPad, it's an identical setup. The downside is that, unlike GQ, it does not allow for landscape reading, which would be nice when I'm using my smart cover and reading as I eat breakfast, which I like to do. The second downside, like GQ, is that it doesn't allow for background downloading. The issues aren't that big so this second one isn't a huge deal, but it would be nice to begin a download and then switch to another app in the meantime. But all-in-all a very good app, four stars.

No support. No sharing.. The issues, when downloaded, look great. You cannot share a page with a friend if not also a subscriber but often the same information is available online. It makes no sense. As a reader for over 20 years, I love the magazine and reading without generating waste is a big plus. However, there is no email letting you know the new issue is available for download. The issue is available online later than the print edition. I was unable to download the latest issue and got a stock email that did not solve the problem a week later. A week is 1/4 of the shelf life of a monthly magazine.

Landscaped view is GONE! Why?. Ok, I don't mind having to use the old app for the prior months I already purchased... I noticed that the new reader app is a completely different UI, vey similar to the Readers Digest reader app... But, why is the landscaped view gone? Moreover, it appears that some of the interaction functionality is gone too... I'm happy about the subscription app as I canceled the paper subscription last year. However, I'm disappointed for what's missing, lacking and otherwise the oversight of not porting over prior purchased months! Lastly, I have bought EVERY iPad issue... So, why not reward me (and others) by crediting me a little... I would have really felt appreciated if RW would have given 3 or 6 months... ANYWAY RW, BRING BACK LANDSCAPED VIEW!!

Decent Mag. Horrible implementation.. No horizontal format? Really?? These guys seriously need to read some other digital mags (GQ, Wired, etc.) and see how this is supposed to be done. Reading an iPad mag with only a vertical format that requires you to rotate the iPad to view spreads (only in one direction by the way) is just ridiculous. And on top of that they don't offer this for free if you subscribe to the print mag (as I understand from other postings) is just insulting. Glad I only bought one issue to test this before buying a subscription. My advice, pass on this until they catch up to everyone else. Just a waste of money for now.

Meh. Navigation is a bit sloppy if you've zoomed in on a page...sometimes it is way too quick to flip you to the next page before you are ready, other times I can't force it to next page if I want to unless I zoom all the way back out. I wish there were an option to rotate to landscape mode, even if it showed a half page at a time...as a nod toward accessibility. My biggest frustration, as others have voiced, is waiting as long as a week after the print version is available...and even then to sometimes have trouble downloading for a day or two...ugh! It could at least cost less than its print counterpart for that trouble. Great content and inspiring articles, though!

Why????. You took a perfectly serviceable app and set it back by about 10 years!!! Forget that I can't remove old issues any more, how about just letting me see the magazine in its print format? When your shoe guide says "see the chart to the right" and I CAN'T SEE THE CHART TO THE RIGHT or even figure out to which graphic it's referring, that is not helpful!! Plus, why are the paragraphs numbered?? It's like your showing us the magazine in draft format before it goes to print. While you're fixing this one, please fix Women's Health, too, or you'll be losing a subscriber of both magazines.

Doesn’t work. This app is terrible. How do I get my money back?

Good app. I do like to crispness of the image. It's excellent quality. I agree with the other reviewer that it would be great if you had links to other sites which would demonstrate an exercise or open a window with more in depth information, like my wife's Shape magazine. Then it would justify for me charging more for an online subscription than for the paper subscription, even though online is more pure profit for the publisher.

Terrible new update. I've subscribed digitally for awhile, and this new version is god-awful. You no longer read a version that looks like the print copy--it's a dumbed-down, unformatted series of article clips. You lose all the benefits and aesthetics of the print version, and it's actually harder to read now. And you can read the article in PDF view, but it's still not set up like the magazine--it's just a pdf of each page. And why in the world, when you're reading an article and want to switch to PDF view, does it take you to the beginning of the magazine?! And there's no quick table of contents for that version, so you have to swipe slowly through each page back to where you were. It's functionally the worst way to do it. I feel like this update is a solution in search of a problem. Runner's World took a great product and split it into two versions, both of which are terrible. Nice job, RW.

Cannot access the content. Even though I subscribed I cannot access the content on the app.

I like reading on iPad better!. To the people who don't like that their print subscription doesn't get them the iPad subscription - you do get a refund if you cancel the print subscription. In my case, I got enough of a refund to pay for a year's worth of the iPad edition. I like reading on the iPad, but it would be nice to be able to switch to landscape mode so that I could view the 2-page photos all at once. But other than that, I am very pleased that I transferred from print to iPad.

Great magazine but app needs improvement. I have subscribed to Runner's World for many years. I love it. It's one of the few magazines that I read cover to cover. It's great to be able to get rid of my paper copy and read this on my iPad. Would like to see a few improvements: 1) landscape view (for those articles that are written the entire width of the page - so I don't have to drill down to see them & then move the page back and forth with my finger); 2) ability to email a page to myself (in particular the recipes); 3) ability to click on an article and have a text view only of the article (also would like to be able to adjust the text size). Last, the app freezes up about half of the time. Content is still awesome, but would like to see bugs worked out.

Overall I love this magazine.. It does load slowly on my iPad. But it is worth the wait. This is the only health magazine I read now and have used it as my primer for running and all that goes with it. I love the the continuous flow of information on food, exercises needed, shoe studies along with recommendations which really work out well. It also has articles that are just fun to read.

A combined subscription, please!. I have been a Runner's World subscriber for a decade and read each issue from cover to cover. When I first red that there would be an iPad app for the magazine, I was thrilled; until I learned that I would have to pay for two subscriptions. A couple of months ago, after downloading Newstand, I noticed that the description of the Runner's World app noted that in November, print subscribers would be able to download the eversion as part of their subscription. I immediately downloaded the app and now................I'm waiting.

Fabulous magazine for iPad. Runner's World is a great magazine, and the app is even better. I love the links to videos. Some magazine's don't make the jump to iPad very well, but Runner's World sure has! The magazine loads fast- I've never had and problems. The images are clear and the text easy to read. I highly recommend this app! Also, those having problems with subscriptions need to troubleshoot. Try 'restoring previous purchases' if your subscription suddenly isn't recognized and the app prompts you to repurchase. That always works for me with other magazines.

3 stars until I actually use the app. I will wait until my paper subscription runs out until buying the electronic subscription. Until then, middle of the road seems the most fair. Here are some points: + Can easily keep information as long as I want, and not take up a lot of space. + No magazine piling up inside the house, which I would eventually have to throw away. Also saves trees. + Better opportunity for advertisers and businesses because some of the products can get to a point where they can be purchased directly from the electronic version - Lost opportunity in that I'm waiting until my paper subscription runs out. - Should be included with paper subscription, since the paper version costs more. - I can't share the e-magazine with another person without them using my ipad.

Log in is bugged. What kind of crap app is this

Doesn’t work for Runner’sWorld+ Subscribers. This is a buggy app and will not allow current Runner’sWorld+ subscription holders to access content. Pretty disappointing...

Needs more features. The app needs a bookmarking or a highlighting feature so that the user can quickly turn to the page with pertinent information as u can with a print copy. I accept the large number of ads in a print version, which is understandably how the publisher subsidizes the cost of the magzn however the higher price of digital subscription does warrant less in ur face advertisement.

Worst update ever-not renewing my subscription. Before the update, I rated Runner's World 5 stars, because the App worked like a charm. After the update, I will have to cancel my subscription because everything that used to work is broken now: - The app doesn't remember where I stopped reading, so I am always starting at the beginning of the issue. - All my favorite articles I saved over the last couple of years (!) are gone! Can you imagine my frustration? - The intro says that you can favorite articles. I don't even see this option (I have an iPad Air 2), so no, it's not my device! - The app freezed up on me 3 times in the last 10 minutes. Every time I reopen the app, you guessed it right, I have to start reading on page 1 again. Why oh why did you have to make a new app? I have a guess here: The publisher got a cutthroat quote from another supplier to make the app for half the yearly cost. The publisher thought, oh good, we can save money! And they ditched an app that was working perfectly fine and did what it was supposed to do for an utter mess. Thank you Rodale for caring for your readers. I can't believe this is happening with such a reputable publication as Runner's World. Update: Oh, you have to be logged in with Facebook to save favorite articles! How reader friendly! Please restore the old app ASAP! I wrote my first review in early December and nothing has changed, I won't be renewing my subscription.

More double charging from Rodale. I should have known that, since this is a Rodale publication, I will have to pay twice to get the digital version of this magazine that we already subscribe to. This is the same situation with Men's Health. Time Magazine, ESPN Magazine, Better Homes, Southern Living, and all the other print magazines that my family subscribes to allow me to access the digital version at no extra cost. When Rodale's tag line was "Where Health Meets Green," I thought that the "Green" referred to the environment. But I guess it refers to Money. Come on, Rodale. Show those of us who are already your loyal print customers that you're not just another greedy Wall Street corporation. Quit trying to double charge print subscribers.

Digital version fine, a couple suggestions (Update). I'm not interested in having a print subscription so the digital only subscription works well for me. Overall, I have no complaints. The digital edition is faithful to the print version. I like the links to additional content as well. That said, what would make the digital edition perfect for me would be to have the ability to bookmark articles for future reference. Additionally, the ability to share articles on Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest would be great. Update: These features have been added, so I've added a star to my rating.

Subscribers can’t log in. Same as others have noted. I have an RW+ subscription but the app doesn’t recognize my credentials.

Not Good. Why did this app stop working. I can access my subscription.

You're Digital issue pricing is an insult. I came here like many others to look into getting a digital issue either as a supplement or alternative to your print edition. After seeing that you not only charge more for your digital edition than you do for your print version, but you also charge print subscribers an addition fee instead of including it in your pricing plan when you do this for your other periodicals I am now reconsidering any subscription all together. Perhaps when you can pull your digital head out of your digital forth point of contact and get in touch with the people that make up the community that have an interest in your writing I will re-evaluate giving you money.

Can’t tell what this is. No index or dates.. just random stuff interspersed with ads.

Update was a downgrade. I really enjoyed the previous version of this app, and I love the magazine itself, but this version is painful. I loathe seeing the same words in plain text underneath the text that is on graphics -- it's clunky, and unnecessary, and makes me feel like I'm "not reading everything" when I skim over it (silly, but annoying.) The new table of contents doesn't feel like a magazine. And a couple times the app closed down, and I lost my place. I'm not sure what problems this update was trying to solve, but I find it much less enjoyable. I want the feel of a magazine without the clutter of having tons of paper in my home. If I want to just read articles, I would go to Runner's World's website.

Please, restore old vesion!. The new app is terribly clunky, especially when one lives in a region with slow internet connection.I enjoyed the simplicity of the old version. Now, it takes too long to load, it loses my place when I close out, I HATE the text only version (the whole point of the digital version is to feel like you are reading the actual magazine, but reducing waste). Before, once downloaded, the magazine was there for easy perusal or revision. Now, it has to download every time I go back to an old issue. Please restore the old app!

Why is current issue a pdf?. Prior issues are apps

Do you think we are idiots?. Nice that you ignore your MOST LOYAL print subscribers ... I have paid for a print subscription since November 2004 and ordered many of the books you release because I always thought this was a great publication ... and now, you really want to try and charge me to view it on my iPad! I am so upset that for the first time ever I am considering canceling my print subscription and never buying a thing from you EVER AGAIN! If all magazines did this and it was common, it would be understandable, but when many top magazines make them available for FREE, you need to reconsider how you treat your, ahem, CUSTOMERS!

Digital Subscribers Beware. This app is not working with my digital subscription.
