Sunrizer synth App Description & Overview

What is sunrizer synth app? "This really is the synth that keeps on giving! Inspiration and intuition truly blend together in this musical instrument." Alan Parsons

Sunrizer Synth is a virtual analog synthesizer that takes the definition of iOS synthesizer to the next level.
Thanks to carefully designed architecture and heavy usage of coprocessor it blurs the boundaries between iOS and hardware synthesizers.
Sunrizer was built to perform and works perfectly with any MIDI keyboard or sequencer. A lot of research has been done in order to achieve unique character, warmth and clarity.

Sunrizer synth Comments & Reviews 2026

Worth EVERY penny. Of all the iPad synths, this on is in the top tier. You won’t be disappointed.

Keyboard size. Hey Thank you for fixing the scaling issue on iPad Pro 11”. There are empty spaces on either side now but they are fine. Can you increase the size of keys for Large setting as the keys are still too narrow for human fingers? Please see GarageBand keyboard sizes which are most ideal. Also, the keyboard should be locked from scrolling by default at launch. Keyboards are locked in all other apps by default and it is the expected behavior. Cheers!

I hear a lot of hype. About synths on the app palace. And it’s a whole bunch of the same thing with different presets and ways of going about the synthesis. A lot of the same thing in different packages. This one is unto itself. It’s everything I want in a synthesizer. Not a sampler. I want a synth. This thing is as complicated or simple as you make it. It really is a very special synth. Enjoy it.

Thank you!. this is one of my all time favorite IOS synths. I am so happy to be able to also use it on my desktop Mac now as well! I came to look and see what other software you make so I can consider investing in that as well!

One of the most versatile music apps. I own almost all music apps, but there is no track l work on without Sunrizer’s unique sound. The possibilities are limited by only your imagination. It is priceless from all points of view, a treasure to enjoy for ever.

Issues with AudioCopy. I am having issues recording my patterns into AudioCopy. I am able to set it to record and it records the way file. But when I click on AudioCopy all it does is tell me that is copied to the general pasteboard. When I launch AudioCopy no trace of recorded file is found. How do I work this issue out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sunrizer doesn’t load as an inter app on my iMPC so I am running it standalone and just trying to copy out.

My all-time favorite still delivers!. It’s been a while since I’ve used any iOS synths with all this hardware laying around. But I just picked up my iPad to check out something on the App Store when I noticed Sunrizer had an update available. I’m happy to see BeepStreet supporting this app since I purchased it in 2012. The sound quality, layout, touch response, and everything as a whole is superb. I bond with this synth every time I use it. Not many soft-synths make me feel a connection like Sunrizer does. When I feel that connection, I can easily lose track of time... and that’s the sign of a great synth!

Still tops!. Let me start out by saying this was one of my first iOS synth app purchases back in 2012. Over the years this app still is in my top ten of ‘must have’ apps for audio production. I own at least 100 or more audio apps, own ten iOS devices, and have been beta testing apps since 2012 so I would like to think I know a little bit about audio apps (or most apps in general). IMHO- Beepstreat makes some of the best apps in town. This app still gets the support and attention it deserves. I am not just a fangirl but a user of this app who after all these years still uses it on the weekly. It is not everyday that an app this good is very affordable, updated, sounds great, is easy to use, and solid.

Perfect. This is by far my favorite iOS synth. It’s just SO well laid out and sounds so good, I keep coming back to it. It seriously has so many features packed into a really usable interface, it feels like a nord keyboard, on steroids, on an iPad, emulating a jp-8000 I am planning to buy zeeon, (the devs new synth app) but I hope he maintains this one, because I’ll never stop using it.

Easy to take for granted…. Since Sunrizer has been around for such a long time, it’s easy to overlook just how nice it sounds. Flexible, powerful, with a host of free presets, it truly remains one of the best synths available on iOS.

The JP-8000 never sounded this good. Nor did it have as many features. Easy recommend for any fan of Rolands now legendary synth.

Some of the best patch sounds in the App Store. This app has some of the thickest and lushest sounds you’ll get in the App Store. As an owner of an actual JP-8000, this synth is reminiscent of those sound patches. It’s easy to start buying too much stuff but if you’re quality over quantity, this synth should still make your cut.

LIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. Incredible tool for incredible sound. The supersaw emulator is exactly what I’ve been searching for. A must have for any serious musician’s toolbox.

User guide is pretty much useless.. There is no explanation on how to clear MIDI assignments. Furthermore, the user guide apparently refers to an older version that does not have a PREFS button anywhere, but this button is mentioned in the user guide. It has some nice features, but it is really not worth the $9.99 it costs.

Limiting range. Why can I not play notes above Bb6?

Can be calibrated. First off, great sounding instrument. No problems at all. The icing on the cake? The tuning can be calibrated so your not forced to use 440. I write music @ A = 432 because it sounds better to me. Warmer, and less harsh than 440. It has become difficult to find synths that will allow calibration. They seem to do everything except that. So thank you thank you thank you! 😁 Tip: If you would like to play with 432 tuning simply turn the fine tuning knob to -32.

Stunning.. This app is incredible.

Best VA Synth I have heard in a while.. If you liked Roland's JP-8000, you will love this app. This app has much the same style and feel of that classic synth. And it is even better now with AUv3 support!!! It is amazing this synth is as rich and warm as it is for a Virtual Analog (VA) app that it is. The controls are very responsive and the sliding keyboard is a brilliant idea, and it is very straight forward to program. Ok I admit the apeggiator is a little odd, but then again I have yet you come across an apeggiator on any hardware or software synth that is naturally intuitive to program. Unless you just hate warm subtractive synthesis, you will be happy with this app.

Simply awesome synth. Have had this app on my iPad for quite a while but with the recent upgrade this is by far one of my favs has so much character and auv3 all I can say this is a must have synth hands down wow

Sounds great but UI needs work. I’d give it 5 stars, but it cuts off a bit of the top and bottom of my 11” iPad Pro (2020) screen. Should be something easy to fix.

Definite Definition of how a synth Should be made, unparalleled. This synth gives me joy that people fails to provide. Creative execution, hardworking and dedication and passionate commitment to reach perfection made it incomparable. Should I write more!

You loose!. If you don’t get this app YOU LOOSE! It’s quite simply in my FAVORITE top three of I the panoply of synth apps I own…hands down. The richness of sounds; the flexibility of parameters and the ease of use puts it beyond comparison to any other.

Beautiful Sounds!. This has been my go to synth when tracking on GarageBand for iPad. Easy plug and play because it is a true AU plug-in; none of this inter-app audio stuff. The presets are amazing and lots to choose from. The sound is incredible; very pure or even very retro. You won’t be disappointed!

The Best. Superior sound quality that can emulate a variety of classic analog synths as well as morphing textures never before experienced by Earthlings' ears. Very expressive with loads of adjustment levers, sliders, knobs and switches available on the main screen plus a plethora of deeper editing screens that are quite easy to navigate with dedicated buttons located across the top of the main menu. Instant gratification via tons of free presets and the developer continues to update with amazing effects and options. It's quite easy to find a desired sound defined by category, manipulate to taste and save to a new folder. This just might replace a set list (if I can ever get all those confounded lyrics memorized). Only a couple of nitpicks at this time: 1) The slide option for the onscreen keyboard being a tad clunky and jittery, but a mute point if one is using hardware controller keyboards as most would for serious studio work. Once a key is triggered on the screen, sometimes you must lift up and touch again with the intention to slide. Yet during semi-quick runs the keyboard often slides a bit, hindering accurate notes. Perhaps I just need more practice. Sure would be nice to have octave switch buttons. 2) No velocity available over MIDI? However the on-screen keyboard does simulate it with the loudest notes triggered when keys are touched closest to the player, softer as the keys are touched closer to the virtual pivot-point. I have tried nearly every iOS synth and this one edges out several others that are narrowed down to my favorites folder mostly because of the immense variety of sounds from the mega lush morphing pads to intense over-the-top distorted leads, plus the speaker melting hugeness capable with this engine; not to mention the ease of further sound manipulation with the well placed and complete set of modulation interfaces. Many hardware synths are jealous of Sunrizer.

Thank U. After all these years it’s nice to see this synth is not abandoned

The Best. This one is the most useful synth out there. I had a project running in AUM that maxed out my iPad regularly. I bought Sunrizer and switched out the synth I had previously used and the DSP percentage went down to 37 percent. Also, Sunrizer sounds better in that spot. I win. If you tweak sounds, this is for you. If you’re like me and you just use presets, this is for you. Being an audio unit makes it even better. Pass up the others and buy this one first.

My Go-to Synth - please add compressor. I am a professional keyboardist using multiple virtual Synths and sampler for my gigs. Sunrizer is my go to synth....and the one I keep finding myself using first before other synth apps. It creates atmospheric patches like no other. The only flaw I find and one that I hope can be amended is the lack of a compressor. Sunrizer is very sensitive to volume, and any sounds that go into the yellow zone on the amp begin to distort at levels where other iOS synths do not. A compressor would easily resolve this as it does in other high quality synth apps. Other than that, I love Sunrizer.

Almost perfect. This is the best-sounding iOS synth, period. I’ve tried others, and some of them sound great, but they disappoint in crucial areas. The sheer, unfathomable greatness of sound and ease of programmability punch so much higher than the “trance genre” stigma of this versatile poly synth. The amp ADSR is rock solid, unlike many other iOS synths (free and paid alike). Take your favorite iOS softsynth, make a saw-based slow string patch with a slow attack and run it through its paces and you’ll see what I mean. For the ugly: in GarageBand, when you attempt to add a second Sunrizer AUv3 track, the first one kerplodes. The note data stays in tact, and GarageBand tries to play it, but the track is horridly glitchy and broken-sounding. And the devs don’t answer emails of paying customers. Know this before you pull the trigger.

Fantastic synth. Needs update.. No longer works on audiobus3 :(

AUv3 update brings Sunrizer back front and center. There’s still nothing else I’ve found quite like the JP8000 emulation on offer in Sunrizer. It’s so _good_ - fun to play with and invent and with so many free presets available from amazing artists, if you don’t want to explore the full depth of sound/patch design available in Sunrizer, it’s very easy to just pick up something that sounds _great_ and go play. Updating to AUv3 is a huge step forward for Sunrizer too - it’s so much better for the current state of the art in iOS music workflows than Inter-app Audio that there’s no comparison. I cannot wait to quit writing this text and get back to playing, so I will leave you with: If you like making music on your iOS device and you don’t already have Sunrizer, there is no reason not to drop some cash on it right now. Cheers!

Great with program, changes. A lot of app don’t let you control patch changes with outboard midi. This is a very underrated app.

Just Incredible !. I very rarely write reviews …( no time ) but gees I got to give credit where credit is due . This is probably one of the best 5 synths for the iPad bar none. GET IT, YOU WONT REGRET IT ! ;)

Just learning but so far it’s nothing short of amazing. Just started using this synth app today and I have to say that this absolutely blows away every other synth app for the IPad. I own 10 hardware synths and the sounds on this truly rival my Minilogue XD, Roland FA and Microfreak to name a few. I’ll update this review with more of a user realization but right now I am just blown away by the sounds and deep, deep arpeggiator.

One of the Best synths around. Too much to say about this synth so I will make it simple. GO GET IT NOW.

Love roland’s jp8000?. Then you will reaaaally love this app! I know I do! And it’s an AUv3

A Classic iOS Synth that Keeps Up with the Times. Hard to believe Sunrizer came out way back in 2012. It’s been kept beautifully up to date since then, and still sounds like a million bucks. The supersaw alone is worth the price of admission

One of the greats!. Bought this when it came out, and have used it on nearly everything I’ve done since. Great presets, GUI, and sounds have allowed it to remain my go-to synth for years. Kudos to Mr. Jacek for creating the most useful synth I’ve ever owned for iOS - and I have ton of them!

Still a must have for those moving and DEEPLY expressive sounds!. Sunrizer is probably the best name anyone could have named this synth! The warm overtones, harmonics and filtering move the sound from one side of the earth to the other, with the warmth yet brightness of each note! I love the RANDOMIZER option! It puts together a preset that no one has likely ever heard, and gives you a perfect jumping off point to start tweaking each parameter to morph between 2 full presets A/B allowing you the control between them with the mod wheel! Still one of the best!

Buggy on garage band. Great adaptation of a classic synth but super buggy on garage band. Has trouble scrolling through banks (kind of freezes up) some sounds don’t play back accurately after recording in midi.

Among the best. Sounds great - nice to see the recent update. 5 star app all the way!

Sounds to create Filmlesssoundtracks. I am a “soundaholic”. This one iOS synth has sounds that I can only describe as being magical. Magic is what writing Filmlesssoundtracks is all about. A fantastic synth at a fraction price, with professional sounds that are truly unique and special. Five stars without a 2nd thought.

One of the first still one of the best. Even after I've bought every 20-30 "pro" synth on the App Store I still find myself opening Sunrizer when I'm looking for inspiration. Just got the latest Beep Street Synth would love to see some in-app purchase upgrades to Sunrizer. This synth is fantastic and I know many other iOS musicians who would agree with me. Please continue development on this terrific app!!!

Closest JP8080 emulation and more. Enough to make Armin proud, this synth is so good. The sound is big and inspirational. Love it. The LPK25 wireless is a great companion. Make music. Have fun

OK I SEE YALL. Good look w/ the update. Now I can use his as an audio unit in beat maker 3

The best synth out there. I am kind of a synth app fanatic. I own over 40 of them. Sunrizer blows them all away. I find myself always coming back to this one.

Incredible!. I put this right up there with Spire, Serum, Massive X.

The iPad version is unbelievable, iPhone version isn’t.. Of all the iOS synths I own, this is my very favorite synth, PERIOD! I can’t give it higher praise. The depth and complexity of the tones takes me to new levels of inspiration & creativity. It’s on the WOW FACTOR level to hear it. Today I purchased the iPhone version, and it is NOT a duplicate of this version. What I do on the iPad version is take a patch that I like and start playing with every parameter, and am rarely unsatisfied with the changes. With the iPhone version I can’t get any patch modified or stock to sound 1/10 as good as the iPad version. I hope the developers can do their magic on the iPhone version to get it to be more like its big brother.

Great synth, especially with AUv3 update!!!. I have had Sunrizer for several years now, and have long been very impressed with its capabilities and sound quality. Extremely flexible and useful arpeggiator and sequencer. AND, a long time coming and finally included in the newest update, Sunrizer is AUv3!

Better than my jp8080. Bought this when it first came out and still using it years later. Just one of the best, most versatile and fun iOS synths there is. Great job beepstreet

Still among the best!. I kinda lost this synth in the morass of effects, synths, sequencers, DAWs, drones etc. I came across it again during some desktop organizing and WOW, it hit me as only something spellbinding and new can do! I forgot what a beautiful synth this is. It’s warm, deep and powerful - nice to rediscover an old friend!

Sunriser Synth 👌. At first I was hesitant to buy this, then I discovered that this app has everything. Sunriser synth is the closest thing you get to being a real DJ, Producer, artist or musician! This app is for you.

a solid go to synth!. love the new look and presets. excellent synth!

Love the new update!. Quality!

Great textured sounds. This app has the best synth sound of about a dozen apps that I have, rich and textured.

Du riser. So easy to use and very addictive and educational and I just love some of those sounds

Almost great. More modulation options would make this a 5 star synth. But its still very useable!

Time to sell the hardware synths, and the computer :). Great synth. Sounds fantastic. Looking forward to trying it with the alesis io dock and external midi sequencers and controllers.

A gorgeous-sounding synth. A lot of great sounding presets and a beautifully smooth sound.

Far out. This is the best sounding app of any kind in the music creation genre...the sounds hold you like a warm hug...

Awesome. Most comprehensive synth app so far. Everything right there on one screen. Good job.

Superb. I agree wholeheartedly with the reviewer who said "this thing sounds expensive" - spot on! Beautifully detailed sounds, rumbling bass, so many sonic possibilities - at such a modest price! I'm posting this review after using it for several months - wanted to say thanks for the most recent update. Very useful and generous, to boot.

Seriously Good. I have quite a few of the earlier synths but this takes things to a new level. Great interface and very user friendly.

Wow midi cool. A pleasurable synth to use - set it up with a M-Audio oxygen 25 = epic wide synth very professional textures - if only ims20 had midi learn life could be as warm as this amazing app. Love it - don't hesitate give up your cash right now !!!!

Amazing. Interface looks amazing, sounds fantastic.

Wonderful iOS synth. Some great sounds here and love the interface. Developer is also very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

Really great synth, homage to JP8000. I am a former JP8000 owner, and while Sunrizer is not 100% the same, it is close and more importantly very good. I don't like most of the presets, but it has a great feature: specific templates for classic sounds. You have to be careful not to overload the output, just turn the overall mix slider down if that happens. The filter isn'nt the greatest at extreme values, but this is similar to the original JP8000, so as imperfect as that is, it gives it its character!

Wow.. What a great synth. Serious sounds and effects for anyone's live arsenal or studio work. Love it

It's about time.... The is the 1st synth I've got for the iPad the I wanted to hook up to record into my DAW. Well there is the ims20 but this is more immediate and the A B thing with the mod wheel is brilliant! Much like NI's Razor. There should be more synths like this out there... For the iPad.

Ugly Duck. My favourite iPad virtual analogue synth - intuitively easy to use, everything tweakable on one big panel, gorgeous presets, lots of options in a remarkably compact package ... And it _was_ beautiful too, in two-tone brushed steel midnight blue, with a stunning illusion of 3D ... but this upgrade (for want of a better term) is a GIANT step backwards to a flat, ugly, and visually dissonant interface that spoils the whole user experience. YUK.

Still my favourite iOS synth. This was the first proper iOS synth I bought. Since then I have purchased a few others, and while they are all fantastic, I still keep coming back to Sunrizer. It's easy to use, it sounds amazing, and it's super flexible. Beepstreet makes quality products. Love them.

Gorgeous!. The guys at Beep Street have truly delivered with Horizon. The SuperSaw emulation is unbelievably close to the JP-8000 I have sitting next to my iPad right now. The filters are also very warm and usable. This app is giving the iMS-20 app a run for it's money as my ultimate iPad synthesizer. In the last few hours I've made sounds from lush to nasty and all very usable. The fact it also launches on sale made it an easy buy.

Brilliant!. This is a seriously awesome synth, I have yet to fault it and it creates some brilliant sounds. I don't have a VST version for my computer but I can still drive it just like a VST via studiomux, so that doesn't matter!

Please go back an update. Folks...please go back to the previous update / version...as the latest bug fixes / update has changed my saved presets out of recognition and introduced clicks and otherunwanted noises..

Quality app. Easily my favorite keyboard synth type app, if your questioning whether to get it or not, get it, it's great. Cheers.

This is a lovely synth. iOS synths are cheap compared with synths for other platforms so it’s easy to end up with loads. Don’t do that - just get a few great ones and learn them thoroughly. And make sure Sunrizer is one of them. It's a seriously lovely synth with a huge range of sounds. Great for EDM and soundtracks, IMO.

Please update. I like Sunrizer a lot but since Cubasis became 2.0 I have had trouble loading it and can only use standalone. An AU port would be great. I would even pay for this. Midi control of the morph wheel would be a bonus along with new patches. Please Beepstreet. Btw love Zeeon!

Impressive. Can't put this thing down! Great, useable patches. This is the first ios synth actually worth midi-ing to my rig. Supersaw is gorgeous. Can't wait to see what the updates bring.

Fantastic, works with USB midi. This is an amazing synth and it works with my Yamaha PSR S500. Just plugged in the USB midi from the keyboard into the camera connection USB adapter and I was able to play the keyboard directly to the synth, added speakers (either Bluetooth or through the headphone connection) to boost the sound to a great level. This is a very affordable synth without a doubt.

Huge sounds. I’ve had Sunrizer installed since my iPad 2 and it is always a great go to synth for getting big, complex sounds. Awesome functionality with the arp and step editor, preset patches are great to use or tweak to make your own. The layout is also great with everything within easy reach and intuitive.

Great synth but not finished. I am an electronic music producer and been working as a synth sound designer for many years. Great synth, nice supersaw sound compare to my JP8080 and Virus. But I think this app is not finished. I would like to talk about some issues: 1. Pops & clicks. I hear this often, randomly even I got enough memory left. 2. Filter acts strange - Why I hear no sound with Cutoff fully open with Resonance fully closed in LP mode? Why Resonance is muting sound? 3. You need to extend GUI for Effect & ARP, for example make another main page and move the FX control, ARP with step sequencer to there. 4. When you press INIT button, PLEASE PUT IT TO SAWTOOTH WAVEFORM AND MUTE FX TOO. This is like a standard in patch design. I know your supersaw emulation is good but please, follow the standard. Otherwise this is just another toy for musician wannabes who never completes a song. Cheers

$100's just a few years ago for this!. You would have had to pay hundreds for something like this just a few years back! Amazing sounds for an iPad app, presets are pretty good and very useful appregiator (almost like a sequencer).

Possibly the most accessible iOS synth. My favourite IOS synth; keep coming back to it, happy that updates have extended the functionality. Only gripes are: the Arp editor is not as accessible as say the likes of steppolyarp and the randomise button is buried..

Best synth app ever, but still needs.... i can't fault this app, never have been able to fault it, but a synth i would love to have, and there'd be other like me, a synth of the punchy Pizzicato sound found on Faithless - Insomnia, and countless other dance released in history. That would be cooler than cool.

Needs keyboard stack. I'll admit to never having used an analogue synth before, but, I like producing little tunes, and I was getting sick of garagebands lack of options when It came to sounds. So I went looking for a great synth app. I found it. This is awesome. One thing though: I don't have a keyboard to plug this into (only an old piano) but I would kill for a double keyboard (similar to the one on GarageBand)

Where's the inter-app audio?. I love the lay-out, the sound quality and functionality, but my main draw to buying this app was the inter-app connectivity that is advertised in the description. I feel a bit jipped as this seems to be false advertisement. Please fix and I will give this app 5 stars :) UPDATE; where's the metronome? The more i try to use this piece of kit, the more problems i encounter and there hasn't been an update since i bought this thing almost a year ago. Im starting to think this was just a GIANT cash grab for the company. Just lost yet another star. Please fix, what could be an amazing 5 star synth.

The Arp editor alone is worth the price of entry. Can do some pretty amazing things with it, i've not seen anything quite like it before -- though that could be my own ignorance :)

The synth. I can paid a lot the get a synth with this sound, a few years ago I will not believe you if you tell me I can get this for 10$ Very nice sound and nice preset but everything you need to create great sound is there.

Amazing!. I normally try to be at least a little articulate in reviews. Forget it - this is just flippin' amazing! The included patches, awesome. The depth of programming capability, awesome. The feature set, awesome. The interface and usability, awesome. If I had to ask for one thing, because who doesn't love it when the app store tells you you've got updates - it'd be for a more robust effects section - maybe a nice verb in there. But believe you me, you won't be wanting for ways to sculpt your sounds!

Really well done!. As good or better than any professional quality synth. You won't be disappointed. Worth more than it cost. Buy it now.

Very cool.. New bank is great too!

Clean & beautiful...& that's just the U.I.. Lovely synth, BeepStreet you do the iPad proud again. Awesome sounds & great flexibility with a spot-on price IMHO. Very smooth on my iPad 1, no crashes, looking forward to more greatness from you.

Nicely done!. Good all around synthesizer with a solid arpeggiator and clean sound engine. Great FM and effects too!

Nice synth!. Some sounds got me inspired right away. Nice work. Plays well with Genome.

Worth every penny. ... and then some. Sounds so good, great editing, love it!

Inter app audio?. I thought this app was supposed to have inter-app audio? How am I supposed to open this in my recording apps it's not showing up? I've tried this with beatmaker2 Audioshare and GarageBand with no luck. Besides that it's a great sounding synth audiobus works

The Bomb. What a beautiful synth app, was one the first that I ever purchased but still love the warm sounds it produce, would like to see developers add AU support. Would recommend to any iOS musician, a must get App.

Great App, great sound.. You can get some very rich sounds out of this synth. Works great with a midi controller and a camera connection kit. The recent updates have some awesome features..I'm especially liking the new quick sequence button. 5 stars here. The only, very very slight issue I have is that I wish the keyboard lock button wasn't located on top of one of the keys...it can be a little picky sometimes locking and unlocking the keyboard on the fly. Using a keyboard controller makes this a moot point though. Love it.

Super bon!. Excellent synth! Le son est suffisament de qualité pour une utilisation studio. Une meilleur interface de modulation live comme 1 ou 2 XY modulation pad serait une addition qui mériterait une note de 5.

This synth is amazing. An absolute steal at this price, sounds like hardware

Great app. I own 9-10 iPad synths but this is my go-to synth. Easy to use and buckets of fun.

Good but crashy. Sounds awesome, but the app crashes a lot. Especially when using Osc sync. Even some of the presets unmodified will crash the app... Hope this gets fixed. Great app tho!!!

Excellent Synth!. Sounds Great! Reminiscent of a Roland JP 8000. Regular updates have kept this gem a very useful synth.

One of the Best!. I've been using the iPad for production for almost 2 years now. I've purchased almost all of the major named and acclaimed iOS soft synths and Sunrizer is the one that I always seem to gravitate to. Nice sounds, ranging from sweet pads to nearly basses and synths. Easy interface and stellar appregiator!

Excellent, but..... I like the old look better. Still a 5 star app

Great sound. Still needs more creative playability though. Look at what you can do with Animoog and Samplewiz. Sunrizer still doesn't take much advantage of the fact that it's running on a multitouch tablet. But gorgeous sound and killer presence.

Awesome!. The presets are amazing. Thick and rich sounds with terrific arpeggiators.

Awesome. Sounds great and the price is really good.....just get it ,u wont be dissapointed im sure!

Love the arpegiator. The arp edit is one of the best features of this great synth apart from the clean sound and really usable interface. Love it.

So Pro sounding it's not even funny.. This synth app is one of the few that is working really well with core midi. The sounds are thick and rich. The whole experience is tactile and realistic. I love this synth and you won't be disappointed. The synth is fat and like a synth worth thousands of dollars. This is simply a must have if your developing modern music tracks. Ie. techno, trance, hip hop, ambient you name it it's here. 5+ stars for this great synth.

Impressive. I bought a few synths for my iPad mini, but this one is above all my expectations. Very easy to use, the interface is clear, uncluttered, you can modify sounds without too much of a learning curve. I simply love it. I can also use it (like most iPad compatible synths) with a real keyboard just with the camera connection, and I added a powered USB hub just in case... I never get tired of playing with this little marvel : ) P.A. Quebec City

A must have synth for your IOS collection!. This synth has rich textures and a host of very usuable sounds At your fingertips. What are you waiting for?

Fantastic. One of the best iOS synths...I really love this, coming from a full pc daw environment it is refreshing to see something that has so much life..the filters really do have that fat sound...

This is it !. I just got this soft synth and I cannot stop playing it. Each patch is so well programmed and you have a lot of instant inspiration pressing almost any key. It is fast, responsive and very tweakable....and more important: it really sounds fat. Tired of testing dozens of cheesy-sounding soft synths for the iPad ? Look no further.... This is the real deal. I totally agree with another user who has tried them all (NI, Arturia, real hardware synths, etc). This is as close as you will get to sound very pro with a minimum setup, but just using your iPad instead (you would probably want to play it with a usb midi controller and teh camera connection kit though). Of course it doesn't make any sense to compary this app with Omnisphere or Alchemy, etc. but believe me: this sounds very, very good !! Long live to this team of developers and I am looking forward to get more patches for this baby ! :-)

Nice.....but make amp attack longer?. Great sounds but would love it even more if I could set a longer amp attack time.

Simply my go to.. Title says it all.

Awesome. Just like the real thing. Reminds me of a Roland JP8000. The keyboard actually responds to chords the way it should without latency. The sound is very realistic, full and rich with lots of modulation possibilities and a great arpeggiator. This is my favorite iPad synth!

Amazing!. Very "Jupiterish" and really intuitive interface! I'm impressed!

Fantastic sounds. I am extremely impressed with the sounds I am working with here. So, so good. Plugged into a cheapo m-audio controller, a bit of fantastically easy to organize midi mapping, and away we go. A favorite app, for sure.

Wasted Time. Created a piece, recording it, connected the ipad to itunes to get the file and it wasn’t there. When are these guys going to give the option to save to icloud files instead of dinosaur iTunes?

Magnifico. Today's update is astoundingly good.

Stunning synth. Words can not describe how good this softsynth is. If you have any interest in music creation you have to have this.

Très bon synth. Je vous le recommand

One of the very best. You cannot go wrong adding this to your collection. Versatile with quick/easy/versatile control methods. Easy midi mapping. Plenty of options for spicing up your sound. A few things I would like to see are au support, Link support. I discovered today that it supports scala files. Unfortunately the keyboard shifts up one semitones so that C is C#. Wish S&H LFO was true s&h (it always triggers at same position currently). Wish there were more options for LFO offset type, single-shot of saw modding pitch detunes since LFO starts plus pitch, but ends minus pitch. Still 5 stars, my requests are minuscule technicalities. The synth overall is amazing and can do a lot!!

Covers the basics and then some. Has all the classic synth bits -- and you could play with them happily for hours. But just under the surface is a nice effect section, sophisticated arps, and so much more. One of my first iPad synth apps and still one of my favorites. If I had to single out a flaw, it would be that you can't drag the keyboard while playing after an initial note... But if you are trying to get that much range you really owe it to yourself to get some hardware anyway :-)

I love this synth but sustain pedal support is STILL broken. This synth app has absolutely fantastic features and sounds. The presets are wonderful and I love the fact that you can get more banks from the web. I thought the current release was going to remove it's one glaring flaw, lack of support for a sustain pedal. I am running IOS 5.0 and the sustain pedal (CC 64) does NOT work. Not only does it not work, but unlike previous versions where it was just ignored, it now minimizes the app and puts you back to the iPad home screen. I just don't get it. It seems like such an easy thing to support especially given there is a hold button that does the same thing. If you want to play this synth with an external keyboard you have to take your hands off the keys and also be right on top of the iPad to sustain a note or an arpeggio. Totally unnatural. The arpeggiator is an incredible tool once you learn how to use it. It has support for gliding between notes but it should also include the ability to accent notes. That is a wish list item for me but not one I would have taken any stars off the app for. As much as I love this app, the continued lack of sustain pedal support despite pleas to the developer makes me take a full star off. If not for that flaw this would be a full five stars from me.

One of the best.... I've been using Sunrzer since its release on iPad back when it was called Horizon. I was blown away. It was really the first synth I'd ever used and honestly I'd always found them confusing. This was very easy for me to start learning with and it's sounds are so good that no matter how many synths get released for the iPad that I fall in love with, I keep coming back to my first. It's just so good. I haven't had any stuck note issues but I usually play in real time using a midi controller. Apparently no one else is having these issues either since it was a single review making this complaint. I did run Cream Mobile arpeggiator into Sunrizer without issue. BTW, it sounded great and was a lot of fun. Sunrizer is awesome.

Wow!!!!. Up to this point I had been underwhelmed by iOS synths. Beepstreet's iSequence HD and Apple Garageband were the only music software I spent any time with because they work. And now I have the next horse for the stale. This thing is AWESOME!!!! Thick, juicy, blippy, trippy, tweakable patches that rock right out of the gate! Only had it a few weeks and already they have released another bank of patches that are downloadable and FREE! I now have 3 banks of some of the best analog sounding stuff available. Thanks Beepstreet

The best sounding synth I've used in iOS. These guys did it right! The sounds are phenomenal the Blade Runner patch alone takes me back to 1982 and Vangelis pounding out the tracks for the movie! The interface is spotless, though I do agree about having the panic button rearranged or possibly even giving the user the ability to configure in a drag and drop manner, the interface to their liking. I own nano studio, synthtopia, Mixtikl, sunvox, xenon, seline, argon.... I could continue on but you get my point. This is the cleanest, best sounding app of them all! And so far, the most stable.

Limiting range. Why can I not play notes above Bb6?

Rather disappointed. Buggy.. I can’t really hear the raved “warmth” of this synth, at least not in the presets that come with it, they all sound pretty harsh and digital to my ear. Since it’s an old app, maybe it was simply surpassed by other apps? Some presets sounds have slight click/pop at the beginning of the sound when playing polyphony (for example “Sensoramic” preset) and tweaking attack in the amp and filter envelopes does not cure it. A bug where initializing the synth (by choosing “Init” from Synth Tools menu) incorrectly displays the mode when it was loaded after a preset which was in ARP mode. It states that the preset is in POLY mode but it plays an ARP, you need to cycle through the modes to correct it. Completely unreliable and frustrating “chord” function. It takes multiple attempts to store the chord, sometimes the previously stored chord is not updated. Frustrating that the chord gets assigned to one of the keys used when creating it, but it’s kinda random which one. For example, if you press keys C, E and G it will (when you’re lucky!) assign this C Major chord at the C pitch to either C, E or G key! ***Update*** the Chord function works but chords need to be programmed in a way that is NOT described in the manual, otherwise it will not work: follow the steps in the user manual for the chords creation BUT then when you are holding the “Chord” button while depressing keyboard keys to be used in the chord you want to store, FIRST release the “Chord” button THEN the keyboard keys. If you release the keyboard keys before releasing the “Chord” key, the chord will not be stored properly. This is not described in the manual (or maybe developer is not aware of this quirk). No clear indication of LFO assignments. Many synthesizers such as Factory, Helm, etc, provide a visual representation of which parameter is controlled by LFO. In Sunrizer not only is there no such indication but on top of it the names of the parameters are not consistent across the synth. For example, the Filter has a parameter and its knob labeled “Cutoff” but that parameter is named “FLT 1 Freq” in the LFO section, which makes it confusing. More sloppy labeling : “>” is a math symbol, should not be used as anything else, especially in a context of talking about values, frequencies, etc. For example, in the Synth Tools menu one of the tools is labeled as “LFO 1 freq > LFO 2 freq” which is confusing as it should mean “LFO 1 freq is greater than LF0 2 freq”, meanwhile what it means in this app is that LFO 1 freq is supposed to be equal to LFO 2 freq. Well, the sign for this has been “=“ since very long time ago! More confusion and inconsistent labeling, this time it’s even described in the manual: “ When SuperSaw is selected, - Width/Sub knob controls the depth of detune, - Mix/PWM knob controls the volume level of detuned sound.” Except there is no knob labeled “width/sub”. If the knobs control those parameters with this oscillator type, why isn’t it clearly indicated in the knobs’ labels? It should be possible to type in exact values of parameters, sometimes it is critical to dial in exact number, which is not possible by turning the knobs, they are not precise enough. No arrows outside on the panel for quick presets browsing, have to dive into the menu. The pull down menu does not disappear automatically when you touch parameters section, lots of unnecessary touches just to close the menu. The arp controls look promising. Cool BMP input method, it’s very quick to adjust, I’m surprised it’s not used by other apps.

Crashes my FL Studio. This IAA Crashes my FL Studio mobile EVERYTIME. Not getting my monies worth at all so far

Best synth so far!. I've learned to not expect too much from audio apps on the iPad, I understand why some are so limited. But this synth really surprised me. So many features and the sound is amazing. It may be better than any soft synth I use in Logic Pro on my desktop. It would be nice to have more presets and I'm guessing they will come in future updates but then again, I just end up making my own patches anyway. I haven't used all the features yet so this review might be premature but even if nothing else ended up working im still glad I bought the synth. Keep up the good work, devs! I'll be looking for future releases.

Warm sounds and endless possibilities. Sunrizer for iPad is one of the more widely appreciated synthesizers, and for good reason. The app really everything you could want out of a full-featured synth: full compatibility (AudioBus, Virtual MIDI, export options); a beautiful and accessible user interface that puts almost every relevant control on the main screen; and warm, musical sounds that range from classic synth to modern ambience. There are other great synths for iPad, ranging from the freeware Alchemy to other full-featured competitors like Magellan, Arctic ProSynth, and Thor. But one subtle advantage to using Sunrizer is the sheer amount of first-party and user-generated preset content there is. I loaded up the app and there were literally 5 or 6 banks available immediately for download. Other users can create and export their own as well. For relatively new users, presets are a great way to get started before you start twisting knobs and changing oscillators. Finally, Sunrizer just looks and feel authentic and professional from the moment you load it up. There's little touches that I appreciate, like the always-visible output gauge and constant access to the attack/release/sustain/decay sliders. There's nothing wrong with owning more than one synth, but if you had to own only one, this might be it.

My 'home' synth. Sunrizer is the synth app I keep coming back to. There are plenty of far out presets for those who like that, but there are a number of more simple ones that I find more musical. And I'm able to adapt them to create my own church organ sounds, brassy tones and others. Interface is straightforward, full polyphony, works great with my external MIDI controller (88 key electric), and the manual is helpful without being intimidating. Great app for people who want to play music, not just fiddle with knobs.

Good Stuff. This is actually my first paid app, and so far I can say it's the best 5 bucks I have spent in a while. I have been making music for almost 10 years and although I'm no master or consider myself a pro, I have some experience. The app was really fun to play around with and easy to just jump in a play. I can see making some good stuff with this. Every preset was just so customizable that I would get lost playing this thing for hours. Sounds good enough that I would seriously consider using this and an iPad in a live setting. Latency was good, so far. Very responsive. My only gripe is how you move the keyboard, could result in some missed notes. But it is what it is. Overall very fun, easy, worthwhile app. -----one quick edit----- On the last update, the messaging stated that the newest update would include support for sustain....well on akai lkp25 when I hit the sustain button the app immediately crashes. This didn't happen on the previous version and I hope it will be fixed soon. The app is definitely still usable but I'm dropping it to 4 stars.

Thanks for AU support. You guys rock!

Even Better. I have tried almost all of the synths on the app store and only a handful are even decent. Of those there are less than five that I actually use to make music with. Sunrizer is one of those few( the others being Animoog, Addictive Synth, and iMS-20). I think that Sunrizer has probably the best sound for chord work of any iOS synth and sounds as good as or better than a lot of soft synths. If you are on the fence just buy it. you won't be disappointed. Edit: with the new update this thing has gotten even better. I am 18 tracks into a new project and this has been used on at least 10 of those in some fashion. You can't beat what Sunrizer can do for this price.

Fantastic in Every respect No other synth application like this one!. I have downloaded almost every synth application for the ipad. This application is lightyears beyond anything else out there. The sounds that can be produced are almost beyond comprehension. The developers have nailed the sound of classic Roland JP8000. The functionality is fantastic, MIDI works great with my Roland UM1. All other synths in the ap store pail in compression. If you want a real synth, you will buy this one.

Love roland’s jp8000?. Then you will reaaaally love this app! I know I do! And it’s an AUv3

The current king of iOS synths. The sounds on this app are spectacular. Most of the presets (and the programmers were very generous in providing a lot of them) sound REALLY expensive...like the type you'd get only by spending a lot of money on high end soft synths or even more money on high end hardware synths. My Korg R3, which I really like, almost sounds antiseptic next to some of the rich sounding patches in Sunrizer. The arpeggiator is additionally one of the best I've seen, being deep, flexible and intuitive. The developer is also really responsive to his customers and has already implemented many suggestions and bug fixes. The latest update fixes the MIDI bugs in the prior version, making this truly is a performance worthy synth app. Just plug in a USB MIDI keyboard with the camera connection kit and this synth can easily replace among the best hardware VA synths.

Shortcut to great sounds, esp. Roland & CS-80. I have tried most of the synth apps that are currently available for iOS. This is the one I end up using on almost every track. I've thought about why, and it comes down to two things: sound quality and interface. Sunrizer sounds expensive and it fits most of its controls on one screen, so that you can see what a patch is doing and how the elements fit together. It's an app that rewards and encourages tweaking, and the result is I've made more patches for this synth than any other. There are already a lot of enthusiastic reviews for this app, but let me mention one feature that's easily overlooked. We're used to the modulation wheel controlling one or two parameters at a time (usually a filter). With Sunrizer, the modulation wheel can move smoothly between a whole group of parameters (called "morph groups"): not just filter frequencies, but LFO depth and frequency, oscillator detuning -- just about anything that's a knob. For example, let's say you want to make the end of a phrase more emphatic. With the morph groups feature, you can increase the filter resonance AND widen the pad AND slow down the vibrato AND make the vibrato more intense, all with one motion. It's very easy to set up and, in performance, opens up a highway for expressiveness. New features are added, but the interface can still fit on one page. This makes Sunrizer one of the easiest synth apps to program and learn from. For Vangelis-style patches, be sure to download the web bank titled "CFA Vintage Electronica Virtual Analogue" by Constantin Aliferis. Sunrizer looks like a Roland, but can also do a convincing CS-80. The default "Blade Runner" patch is one of the best I've heard on any platform. It can also do the Twin Peaks pad from "Laura Palmer's Theme." Works fine on iPad 2 with OS 6.x and 7.1.

Great Synth. I had heard that this was a great synth from reviews around the web. I had also seen it retain it's credibility after its name change, which in the app ecosystem I believe that can be difficult. I managed to snag this app while it was on sale which gave me the opportunity to tell you now that it is worth the full price ($9.99). There are a few tiny things that I would change from a usability stand point, but no deal breakers. This is a great synth. There are a few banks of sounds available for download, and they all sound great. Plenty to get your started. From there you've got loads of to tweak, as you might expect from many other great synths. I've had the app for about 4 days now and I have been able to invest enough time to make and save some of my own sounds and I am loving them. Final conclusion? Add this synth to your arsenal! :)

Fantastic synth. Needs update.. No longer works on audiobus3 :(

Instant Classic. Firstly, that 'panic' button needs to be RED. I need to find it right away, and it needs to work through any other window. Here's why: Upon playing this for the first time, from the first note, i could tell it was immediately a gorgeous sounding instrument. I got so excited that i starting banging out chords while having the preset window open, changing banks on the fly, listening to all of them. It got stuck on a note somewhere, and added the loudest saw wave you could imagine. Yikes. I looked for the panic button (looked?) and when i pressed it Nothing happened. I had to close the preset window first. My Ears. Fix please and you'll go straight to the top with this one.

Thank you! Best iOS Synth I've had yet!. This is a great synth. I got it last night and have been glued to it since. Great sound and programability. One thing I'd like to ask for and hope future updates will support is Midi clock sync to external beat clock for the arp and LFOs (sorry if it's already in there I haven't found it yet). All in all the sound is rich and fat! The presets really show what this synth is about and what's possible with it! I highly suggest you jump on this for the $4.99 price now! And for those think this might not be a "real" review... it is. Thank you again for such a great product! Please implement MIDI Beat Clock Sync!!! =)

Good but needs better touch response. Update: it appears my problem with touch response is an iOS 5 issue. Multitouch works great under iOS 4 so I've updated my rating to 5-stars. Hopefully these issues are fully resolved by the public release of iOS 5 but this app deserves full stars based on its performance. The presets in this app are plentiful and unbelievably good. The arpeggiator is very well done. Overall this app is one of the best synths that I've come across in the app store. The only thing that I would mark it down for is the crappy multi-touch response. Once a key is pressed other keys can't be pressed with releasing the first key. Chords often don't register unless they keys are pressed at exactly the same time. Knobs and wheels often aren't tweak-able if you're already holding down a key. Not always, but the experience seems very inconsistent. Once this is fixed this app will be insanely great.

PDF users guide available. If you click on the "app support" button below the app icon it will take you to their website and there you can find a PDF users manual you can download and open on your iPad. That is a good start to understanding this app a little better. Like the previous reviewer stated there are a lot of features to familiarize yourself with and it would be nice if they would include this user guide in the app itself for people who can't download PDFs for some reason. The sounds this app offers are beyond enchantment.

Freakin awesome. As an iOS developer and a keyboard player in a band, I can say this app is insanely great. It rivals or surpasses any VI in my normal rig, and that's comparing it favorably with Vanguard, Pro53, Absynth, etc. Yes, it sounds that good. But I think over-all it's better, because the control dials are multi-touch, and the interface is very straight-forward and easy to use. I would call it perfect if it had a drum machine like iMS-20 but if that drum machine could easily be changed from the main keyboard view, so you can keep playing while going to the next drum patch. I'd also like to see the accelerometer be able to control things, maybe when a certain button is held down.

Ableton Live LINK. PLEASE!

Exceptional. This app is most definitely one of the most flexible synths out there. You get some fantastic sounds ranging from new modular synths to old favorites like the Juno and Prophet. The latest update however has complicated things and it takes more work to hassle with half the patches that are detuned and for some reason the sounds have gotten buggy. I wish I could take back the most recent update, yet this does not discourage me from using the app. I've been using this through some Neve mic pres....and well it's pretty unbelievable, definitely a keeper!

Absolutely the best!!!. I have downloaded several synthesizer apps, and none comes close to what you can do with this one. It also has the richest sound and, I didn' t count them all, but at least 70 preset sounds. It has delay, chorus, distortion; and it has many ways to configure LFO to filter, amp, etc. Many types of filters and filter1+ FIlter2 etc, and a comprehensive programmable arpeggiator. It is almost a complete sequence which I haven't figured out how to use. I don't see a manual for it, which should be included for the arpeggiator. I will have to do trial and error to figure it out. It has polyphony and mono to create rich layered mono tones. I am really blown away with what it can do, and the quality of the sound. It has a terrific sound engine and simple layout. A lot of functions are layed out at the top of the app. in the form of buttons wich opens a window with items to select. The possibilities are endless. It is well worth the 4.99 I paid for it, and I am sure they could charge much more for what it does and how rich it sounds. Kudos to the develper!!!

Works with Akai MPK25!. The full size MPK, not the mini. The mini may work but I tried the full size. It required the use of a powered USB hub. Sunrizer has a learn mode that made setup a snap. Click Learn, Click the parameter in Sunrizer you want to change, tweak the physical control on your controller that you want to modify that parameter. It's super easy. It also sounds Great! And it can export audio. Can't be beat for the price and capability by anything else on the App Store.

Great VA synth. I would strongly recommend this synth. Its loaded with options, the filters sound very smooth (despite some clipping at high resonance levels), and overall is a very powerful audio tool. With all the various filter, arp, and even sequencer options, you can get just about any synth sound you can imagine out of this app and with low latency to boot. I notice no lag when using this app in conjunction with an Alesis I/O dock and an Oxygen 8 midi controller.

Enough. This is in some ways a really good, good-sounding synthesizer. Why, then, the crappy “rating” (whatever those don’t mean)? I’ve reached the point of disgust with music apps that change my preset names and change my actual settings. The name change here is the imposition of capitalization where the developer wants to see it. The setting changes happen while I configure patches, fighting the interface to get where I want to go. The GUI here, as in many synthesizers, pushes the user toward settings the developer prefers - or, more correctly, away from setting the developer would prefer we did not use. In many cases, such fractional note or frequency or MIDI or, more typically (and uselessly), such frowned-upon percentage values are available through the GUI, though they are a battle to find. In this app, as in most music apps, we cannot type in the value we want to use. No, we fiddle with the GUI. This is fine for fooling around, but if you know what you are looking for, the battle is not amusing. What is worse is that after battling the interface to achieve a setting, the app very often promptly loses that setting, replacing it either immediately or after a restart with values the developer, Apple, or someone else prefers. For the user paying for the device and the software, what becomes plain is that what the user wants to do with an app is only acceptable so long as that usage falls within some unspoken set of limits on what characters can appear in what combinations in a given app. I have heard the theory that floating-point processing is to blame for supposedly minor settings changes, because of rounding. Well, no. Floating-point processing is historically tied to surveillance and spying, but the changes this processing produces tend to be consistent and, indeed, minor. The changes in settings (and sometimes text) we see in App Store software like - for many increasingly annoying years - Sunrizer are not minor and they are not inaudible. And the changes vary from developer to developer, with a few commonalities more more related to certain ranges of ANSI/Unicode values than to number-rounding errors. It may be the settings changes devolve to Apple and nation-state surveillance practices. Or they could be one of the sad DRM things Apple and other tech companies do to appease the copyright lobby and to make themselves feel better about software cracking. Whatever - it makes little difference to me right now where all the blame belongs. But then the infuriating jumpiness of the GUI displays, in which getting a desired value can be a nasty business, still falls squarely on Beep Street, as do the crashes I get if I battle with a preset for too long. This is on a current-OS, not-old pad using OLD software. The funny thing is, I like this developer, and left a rating review in response to the current update. Then I went to edit some patches. I struggled, as usual, then crashed - despite nothing else being on at all and frequent saving - again as usual. I want to like this app. Alas, in practice I do not - and the reasons are in the front of my mind once again.

Just stunning. Okay, I have a lot more synth apps on my iPad than I know what to do with, and I'll be honest - I don't always know what I'm doing with them, either. But that's part of the fun, that sense of exploration, alongside a sense that you're getting the hang of something, and I can also tell this is an app with a lot of attention to detail, with the depth for an expert and the immediate gratification for a novice. The help page is also great, succinct and to the point. Definitely a synth worth getting. I'd put it at the top of my list, alongside nlog.

My first iOS synth. I bought this nifty app years ago and it is a very capable 2-OSC app. It has a well established patch collection that will keep you busy for a long time. Or if you like to make you own sounds this will be one of the easiest ways to make a sound. Very intuitive and simple to follow. One of it's biggest features is the arpeggiator. One of the best ones I have used, practice using it and you'll be rewarded with beautiful arps.

Incredible. Sunrizer has been for a long time, and continues to be an essential app for any iOS musician/composer I could possibly imagine. The new formant 2 is super fat and rich for very aggressive bass sounds, and softer pad sounds become super complex with both formant and formant 2. I might just be a bit too soon to ask for this but, Please bring the formant 2 to Sunrizer for iPhone, it's a super great filter. I fallback on Sunrizer so much because it's so reliable and stable (never crashes or glitches compared to many other synths), I would buy Sunrizer for Mac in a heartbeat. The option of using all my Sunrizer patches in my Renoise projects would be huge. Also thank you so much for being one of the awesome developers who continue supporting iOS 5... it really makes my life easier when my apps work on all my devices. I plan on leaving iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2 for the foreseeable future (so I can continue running the apps that have apparently died due to lack of updates).

Must have, easy, simple synth. MIDI Learn feature is the best in iPad synths. Not the most fully featured synth in iPad but one of the top four along with Thor, Magellan, Casini... Would include iMS20 if that one supported multiple MIDI Channels but it doesn't. Sunrizer has the very best MIDI Learn feature than any other synth in iPad. A piece of cake to hook it up to something like a LaunchControl. The provided patches are OK. Not as cool as Thor's or Magellan's. I don't like having to press the Lock keyboard scrolling button every time I launch the app.

Top of the Game!. As good as Nave, Magellan, Alchemy, you name it. A breeze to use. Interface looks a ibt complicated, but isn't too difficult to figure out with some time. The Presets are great, so if you don't care to dive into manipulating sounds, it will work as is, right out of the 8-bit! John-3:16, he's got some great reviews. I'm not sure what he is smoking on a couple of app reviews though? Multi-Track DAW, so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive DAW's in the app store. Did you happen to notice the price on it? It's got a crud ton of features for the price and is easy as pie to use. And gives quick easy results. You can't seriously bump AmpKit or StompBox up more than JamUp? They don't even come close to comparing. AmpKit, maybe..... WIth the addition of BIAS, the tones in JamUp are second to none, not even the real deal steel flesh and blood pedals. Even before BIAS JamUps tones were in-freakin-credible. With BIAS, you can do thing only dreamed about 20 years ago.

Best sounding synth out there!. You added the Click! 5 stars! Horizon is a great sounding synth with it's own distinct sound. The interface of Horizon is clean, easy to access, easy to program. Really nice Arp presets and easy to modify patterns. Overall well worth the money and overall a great release, showing that IOs is really becoming a great platform for synthesis in general. The one thing that would get it the 5th star would be a audible "click" when recording.

I am a novice sooo..... I do love this app. I got it to be able to play guitar through Midi Guitar (an incredible app) and the presets on this are great. I did get Sunrizer, Alchemy and Nave. I cant tell you which I like more. This app is easy enough to understand and has nice documentation. Like I said I am a novice. I love the ability to pick favorites. So far this has done great with Midi Guitar, by hooking up my guitar to the ipad and into my amp. (I use audiobus also with it, and cubasis). I like Alchemy but its more of a huge set of presets as far as I can see, with some setting adjustments). Nave is great app also. I seems to be my most versatile app. Out of the three I got, I cant say I like one over the other. Sunrizers interface is outstanding, its easy enough to understand, and simple for me, a novice. yet it seems to have quite a bit to it. I love the presets and the app does awesome. Nave seems incredible also, I like the ability to turn text into sound. Very neat. /editing the visual sound wave is nice also. It is a great app. I love it. Alchemy seems to be mainly presets with some editing ability. It is great for the guitar sense its all done for you but it will get costly if I get all the addons. Wish it has a bundle option, but for me.. A guitar player that wanted to hook my strat up to my Dr. Z amp through my ipad and play midi, it was cool... Audiobus, Midi Guitar, Cubasis, Sunrizer, Nave and Alchemy. all good stuff. I have paid for many guitar apps, From Ampkit, Jamup, Meteor, Cubasis, Garageband, Audiobus, Stompbox, and the list goes on. Multitrak DAW was a slight disappointment, but all the others were well worth it. Wont replace my pedals, and tube amps but for what it is it all is very impressive.

Finally a decent iOS synth!. OK... HERES THE DEAL. I own a REAL Roland JP8000. This synth sounds nothing like it, and the synth engine is completely different. That being said, this is a fantastic synth and probably the first quality one out for iOS. This is a very basic synth that is great for most types of music. Being based on the real hardware JP8000, this should suffice for people making dance/trance/industrial/dub step, whatever.... But it is equally great for rock or whatever else you might want to do. Definitely buy a USB keyboard to use this with, and also a nice pair of headphones/monitors. It will make the synth much more fun to play with. IT SOUNDS AWESOME!

Very Nice! (use Borat accent). I've been playing around with this synth for a couple weeks now and have no complaints. Unfortunately, I don't have access to an external MIDI controller at this time, so I haven't been able to test out the external controllability quite yet. I'm hoping it won't be laggy, as I've read a few reviews that mentioned the possibility. I really like the fact that the arpeggiator offers up to 256 steps. Although there's no swing automation, I've been able to achieve sorta a swing feel by maxing out the resolution (32d notes) and using almost all 256 steps. The arpeggiator may not be limitless, but if you get creative, you can come up with some pretty funky shat. (I shouldn't be focusing on the arpeggiator - it's the quality synthesizer that gets my 5 stars)

Introduced by Drambo. Turned into a true believer by Sunrizer. A beautiful synth.

A Solid, Great-Sounding Synth. Sound-5/5. Sunrizer sounds fantastic. Its main strength is variety. This synth can do everything from thick basses to lush pads to squirming arps to nasty leads. Personally, I find myself mainly using Sunrizer for arps and leads, but it is quite versatile. Ships with a ton of presets, some of which are quite usable. Appearance- 4/5. Sunrizer is more function than form. The visuals mimic a standard analog hardware synth. There are no impressive visual flourishes, which makes for an uncluttered if unremarkable experience. This synth is to be heard and not seen. Interface-4/5. If you are familiar with synthesis, you will be able to get into Sunrizer right away. As stated above, it simply mimics an analogue hardware synth. The function of all the knobs and sliders are immediately apparent. The general flow of the Sunrizer is quite intuitive. Almost everything is immediately accessible on one screen, so you don't have to waste a lot of time menu-delving. Key range only comes in 3 varieties: small, medium, and large. Knobs are easy to control. The arpeggiator is a little difficult to get the hang of, but a little effort and experimentation there pays off. Useability-5/5. Sunrizer is my favorite iPad synth for sound design. When I need to get a sound from my mind to my ears, I go to Sunrizer. It's a synth that gets out of the way. The arpeggiator is not exactly intuitive, but once you get the hang of it, is a cool step sequencer. I use it all the time. Overall: 4.5/5. Sunrizer isn't exactly groundbreaking; it doesn't make especially innovative use of the touchscreen system. What it is is a great sounding synth that is fun to play and easy to program. It's a solid, workhorse instrument. As a result, I have probably used Sunrizer more than any other iPad synth. Well worth 10 times its price.

Beautiful synth. For being "just" a subtractive VA style synth, this thing is really powerful. From lush, deep pads and synth-strings to drippy rubbery acid lines and everything in between. Great effects with both delay and reverb and a few others. Of special note, the programmable arpeggiator is freaking awesome, makes it more like a mini sequencer with (seemingly?) unlimited steps and flexibility to hold, glide, transpose, etc. Not only that, but it also has a well functional phrase recorder that can be used in conjunction with the arp. Equally awesome is the fact that all of this can be accessed from one screen. No page flipping hassles. Programming this synth is actually fun and easy. The workflow is great. I know a lot of other iOS synths get more hype and are very powerful in their own regard, but if I had to be stuck with just one, this would be it.

The Best Sounding Synth. There is a deep, sympathetic richness to this synth which most others lack. It just sounds like I paid over a grand for some hardware synth, when, in truth, I only paid less than ten bucks. The sound bank is very extensive and there are plenty of parameters for creating your own sounds. I really can't praise this synth enough. I have paid far more for others that simply do not compare to this one. Buy this one first!

Much Love. It’s simply the best!

Best synth i ever used. I'v owned lots. Dave smith, moog, Korg, Roland and so on. Cost to much and took up to much space and did not play well with others. Ipad2 is now my only production gear and Sunrizer my main go to synth. Being able to use it seamlessly with Beatmaker 2 is what makes this thing a winner. iPad has plugins and Sunrizer is the best one. Thick sounds are no problem and bass to rip your speakers apart. I know because I just killed some Makie's using Sunrizer. Presets are ok but the sounds you can make are insane. Save them under a bank you create and manage. Record and export as a sample for BM2 after your arrangement is complete. Sunrizer is the best synth when used with Beatmaker. Stop thinking and buy it or just use your iOS device to surf the web and leave the track making to the Pro's.

Stunning.. This app is incredible.

One of the best synths I've used. I love Sunrizer. It was one of the first iPad apps I bought, when I was skeptical of how good the available apps would be. As it happens, it has remained the most well-thought-out, satisfying, and reliable app that I've bought. If you're familiar with subtractive synthesis, it's very powerful and easy to use. It's arpeggio/step-sequencer seemed a bit daunting at first but it is a very effective compositional tool and not nearly as hard to use as I first expected. If I could change/improve anything about Sunrizer, it would be to add the ability to have more than one sound going at once. Like, in addition to the morph wheel, having voice selector buttons that let you change between different patches while the others continue to play, like Performance mode on a Nord Lead.

Was My Favorite Synth App - Now Useless!. I have using this app since it was first introduced. It was a favorite of mine and of clients in my recording studio. After update to version 3.2 it crashes on launch. Reboot of iPad and fresh download of app is no help. I am running a 64GB iPad 1st generation that is capped at iOS 5.1.1. Need provision for users of 1st generation devices to continue under most recent compatible version of the app. Have submitted same issue to Beep Street (twice) with no response, therefor this review. The 3.3 update has restored this app to operation and added some great new features. Great job BeepStreet!
