Good App. I like this app, it has a lot of useful phrases, and words. I'm considering buying the full blown version. It gives you a good idea of the proper pronunciation, which you can't get with a book.

Very helpful!. Really helps with pronunciation and basic phrases. You can also just play the phrase to Thai speakers if you can't get it right. Love that it works without any connection

Font is small. No education on alphabet. It’s a really good list of phrases but as a foreigner it’s really hard to read the Thai letters in such a small font. It would be great to have a section dedicated to the alphabet and vowel or tone sandhi

This is great!!! Chan-chob-ka!. It's helping with basic pronunciation and the fact it has a gender switch thing it helps when learning to use ka or krap properly. I know this will help those who will be traveling to Thailand :) or wanting to learn a little thai.

Very cool. I think this app is really great! Only thing is that I wish it had versions for women because I know that some words are different such as the ending is -Kha and not -Krap, and when saying 'I' for women it is Dichan and for men is Pom

Great app.. Being able to see the phonetic pronunciations alongside the translation and while hearing a native speaker pronounce it is very helpful. Good selection of words & phrases for travelers.

Good to brush up on Thai. Not a bad app to brush up on my Thai. For those of you using this app. All the words and phrases are from a male perspective. For women, you'll have to learn to say the words and phrases from the female perspective.

Excellent starter for visitors. The audio is indispensable and generally. I only wish it was a little slower to help me to understand the more difficult pronunciations more easily. Great app, though.

Not bad. Not a five star ap for one reason. Everything is spoken as if your a female saying it. If I want to learn to say these phrases it would be nice to hear a male voice and the correct male words

Highly recommend. I love this app for learning Thai. They use native Thai speakers who enunciate clearly. The option to save to favorites and reorder favorites is a helpful tool. I highly recommend this app.

Great App. I'm Thai and I think it's an useful app :-) I like this app!!

Unresolved gender bias. I overall like the app structure and I appreciate the usage notes on some expressions, but I'm disappointed they show no concern about gender bias (that is, things are said differently by men and women) even thou they make a remark about it on the "Tips" section. All the expressions are presented as if said by a man, there's no note and no audio for how it would be when said by a woman. Ideally, there should be an option in settings for choosing the learner gender. As it is, I consider this app useless for me because it'd be teaching me wrong.

Mainly Speaking. As a Thai native speaker, the pronunciation is accurate. The tips on certain sentence is also correct. However, this app is mainly for speaking. It has done a great job. There are Thai written letters beneath the English word, but it does not teach you anything about writing. Overall, great app for helping on speaking for beginners and basic phrases.

Great and Answer. This app is Great!!! The answer to the statement above is: if you look at the top right corner you will see a regular face meaning male version. But if you tap it it'll be a face with pigtails meaning female version.

Great App for the price. Many Learn Thai Apps are overpriced and poorly designed. Thus far, this I the best values Learn Thai App. And the slow button (turtle) is very useful.

Best Thai App. This app is great for learning Thai. It's very helpful and buying the upgrade if definitely worth it! Anyone who wants to learn Thai should get this app!

Traveling thailand. I am in thailand now. Most books and online apps convert the words to how you would say it from an English speaker. Thais don't speak this way. This is the most proper way with a extensive list. Add how to memorize reading the letters and I'll be extremely thrilled! Thank you!

Annoying ad. It is really hard to use the app because ads popups almost every moment. It is very annoying and confusing. I was going to purchase it but now I’m not sure.

Most useful app yet. Used this app when we decided to spend 3 weeks in Thailand. Great elementary language skills.

Basic tool don't go w/0. Easy to use and very helpful. Would you be able to move there and start a new life probably not but hey might just want to feel comfortable on an extended vacation or get to know your local Thai eatery better. Have fun and good luck!

App review. For a free app this one is wonderful. I don't think you even need to buy the advanced part as most of the common phrases are given to you for free. In addition when u click on a phrase you can hear the pronunciation

Best app if traveling to Thailand. I got this app to prepare for my trip to Thailand. I used it frequently (works smoothly and offline) and really appreciated the Favorites feature. Don't miss that the settings must be adjusted if you are a man or woman as the phrasing is different. Highly recommended!

It's ok. It's an easy app to use, the lady speaks clearly, but as some have mentioned earlier, it would be nice to hear the guy versions, since there are different words guys have to use. Also a lot of the phonetics are not spelled out for the whole phrase or just wrong. I wish there where more phrases and words and grammar rules in the pro version, enough to where you could hold proper conversations. This app has potential, it's just very limited right now.

Good start. The app looks pretty good and has good content, but I will mention that while it says "No annoying pop ups or ads", 5 seconds into opening the app with internet connection launched me into a video ad. No problem with it, comes with the territory, but I definitely wouldn't market this as ad free.

Just made my first trip to Thailand. App was useful and will probably upgrade if business takes me back to the land of smiles soon

Great!. This app is perfect for vacationers in Thailand. No wifi or Internet is necessary for use, and it has many helpful phrases.

Basically un-useable. I’m in Thailand for a short trip and wanted to pickup a few phrases. I have found this app not useful. I get add pop ups when I try to do ANYTHING like go to settings or home. Longer phrases are cutoff so I can’t read them. Don’t recommend.

It's a great place to start learning. It would have been nice to have a few more phrases, like "too expensive" (paeng) or "this is fun" (sanuk)... But overall it works great! The only thing to watch out for is that the phrases in this app are for female speakers. Men use the phrase "khrap" not "ka".

Awesome. I thought it was gonna be really bad but its actually quite good in some sense it works with school and assignments and doing things like helping your teachers and stuff like that it's really good.:)

Excellent for travellers. I have moved to Thailand and downloaded many apps to learn the language but this is the best free one by far. It is very helpful to have the spoken words as many taxi drivers and market stall owners can't read the text, and you need to get the tone right for them to understand you.

Best Thai learning app. I hv trial a few Thai learning app, this is by far the easiest to use and useful. Learn it write it down on a paper and u will learn the common word and speak very basic Thai Love this app :)

Needs tone markers!!. It has everything a thai learner needs - BUT as a tonal language, there needs to be tone markers for users.

Not bad for traveling. Learn Thai is not meant for a person who really want to learn thai but for one preparing a short trip to the country. As usual a phrase book will help you get by and maybe impress your tour guide by saying a few sentences, but when it comes to real conversation it is pretty useless. Having said that the interface is easy and quick so it is definitely worth having in your smart phone while in thailand. Enjoy!

Great!!. So easy to use! Has the basics of the language and perfect for travellers but I'm thinking of upgrading to the pro version as I live in Thailand and want a more comprehensive vocab. Only thing I'd watch is that the app teaches very formal language, so I'd just be careful when using the sentences in Thailand. A lot of the formality is dropped.

Pom pood tai dai nid noi krap. which means "I can speak Thai a little". I found this app the night before I flew to bangkok for the first time ever. I spent 1 week there and no one would believe it was my first time in Thailand. My 8 year old son and I have learnt about 30 phrases each and can count from 1 to 30. Khob Kuhn krap, BRILLIANT APP!!

Bangkok, thailand. I feel/think colors & numbers are the most important & should be at the top of the list followed by greetings & directions. Numbers colors, directions, & greetings should be free. Parts of language/speech more advanced/complex/ (req. expert) should be charged/paid for.

Excellent resource - LOVE the premium extras!. USA citizen (Feb 2015 review). I love languages and I love this app. This is an excellent resource! I played around with the free version of Learn Thai off & on for about a year. I had some interaction with Thai speakers and tried learning phrases with them and from the app. This was an effective supplemental tool. Once I shifted my focus from learning Spanish to a more concerted effort towards Thai, I began to use this app more. One day I decided to "go for it" and paid the $5 for the upgrade. I was thrilled with all the additional categories it unlocked and with the number of words/phrases it made available within categories I'd been using. There are many things I value about the Learn Thai app, but the highest praise I have is for the dedicated male/female mode. In the upper right corner is a girl icon that serves as a toggle switch that, when touched, changes the icon to a boy. In effect, this switches the gender specific pronouns (phom/chan) & polite endings (ka/krap) within each phrase accordingly. This has been extremely helpful. I normally recommend PIMSLEUR language CDs to people looking for basic-advanced resources. While I still hold Pimsleur in high regard as a highly effective audio learning only method, the gendered parts of speech fail me in Pimsleur. As a basic Thai learner it feels confusing. By contrast, with the Learn Thai app, the gender-correct, polite manner is clearly delineated and is easily grasped. Very user-friendly, plenty of vocab within each category, and I really enjoy the auto play option--especially when I'm learning #'s. An overall great resource and worth paying a few dollars to upgrade. Since I used the free version SO much, I considered this money well-spent. But for those who are just dabbling, go for the free one. There's still plenty there to get you excited. 👍. Thank you Codegent. Happy Multi-Lingualism!!!
