Real review. I downloaded and tried this app Downloaded the pc helper portion The idea is great but the execution is flimsy You must have wifi for this app to work I dont know how close you have to be to your computer Its easy to use You simply find a movie on your computer or harddrive and play it I have a decent computer and buffering one movie takes a good majority of your cpu power The quality of the movies are okay at best, thats where the negativity comes from Unless you want to spend and entire day "converting" or "uploading" your entire movie collection to the computer app helper then youre going to just find a movie and click play and itll buffer as you go The problem is the movie video quality CONSTANTLY glitches out as it buffers The movie itself doesnt stop or pause (with mine at least) the video just frequently will pause to lag behind while the sound plays smoothly Also on the free version a bunch of your screen is cut off and filled with advertisement This app is cool but could be a hell of alot better

Seems insecure .... This app seems like a great idea -- stream video from your computer to your ios device. However, after installing the "VLC Streamer Helper" and connecting to my computer with my ipad2 I found that my entire hard drive was exposed. Am I correct? Does this effectively mean that anyone with this application on their ipad/ipod -- who has access to my wifi connection -- will have the ability to traverse the entire contents of my hard drive? I uninstalled the application due to this, but if they could create some kind of access to control to limit which directories are accessible it would be a great application.

Useful. The most consistently useful of the streaming apps I have tried to access content on my computer from my iOS devices. I had to move the cache off my boot SSD though, as it was filling the disk and choking performance on the computer. It wasn't instantly obvious that this was the problem.

5 Stars - Works as Advertised. Great piece of software that does this one thing very well. Clean interface, flawless function, and exceptional customer service (that you will never need).

I Got robbed.. I purchased this app in 2017 when it was a ONE time payment of $2.99 now they went into subscription mode and my purchase got erased from the App Store. It is now as if I had never paid anything. I get adds now unless I subscribe. I contacted support hobbyist software, sent them a copy of my receipt and they did not respond. Not sure if it’s them or Apple but it’s bad just wiping clean a purchase.

Garbage. I paid for the full version, and it just kept getting worse every update. Now it doesn’t even work. Save yourself the hassle

Not great. Banner ad blocks subtitles. I have no problem with ads but you can’t even watch something with subtitles. Also can’t fast forward more than a couple of minutes at a time.

Buffering. Please wait...... I had high hopes for the return of VLC to the App Store but this unfortunately doesn't work as fast as some of the competition...namely StreamToMe and Air Video both of which I use on the regular. It takes a while longer for playback to begin and the buffering seems to throw off the ability to properly seek to a specific point in the video. I guess seeking would work once an entire video has been converted but in the words of a prominent modern day celebrity "ain't nobody got time for dat!". Tweaking needed guys and gals 😐

Five minutes are up!. I usually give a new app 5 minutes to see if it works for me. If good, I buy the priced version on the same day. First, this company wants my email address so's they can send me some help stuff and oh yes, you should get a helper file. Strike one. Next, in order to remove an auxiliary window one has to tap somewhere off the aux window. No close button. Clumsy interface, this. Strike two. Next I entered the name and net-address of my iMac and tried to connect VLC to the iMac. I got a Firewall Problem? message. Wow, all my other iPad apps that talk to my computer just log on. Strike three. More than 5 minutes are up. Removed from iPad and iTunes.

Doesn’t work.. Pc program says it works with windows xp yet when installing on windows 7 it says I need to install net framework. I’m not ruining my machine with that.

VLC (torrent user must have). Love this app. I have a huge collection of anime on my computer that I would love to watching the big screen. Now I can with this with. Once the show starts on my iPhone or iPad I can stream it to my flat screen via apple tv and sit comfortably in my recliner instead of in my computer chair. Love it love it love it. Works great, best interface and ease of use. No it's not affiliated with VLC, but not as confusing as others tend to rate it as. Run the helper app on the host computer and your off, set your folder for conversion to ample size for more than one video stream if need. It also will all you to choose other network shares from within the host, just know your speed will be based from network transfer and recoding, as well as playing back transfer speed. Other apps charged more, didn't work, or allowed only a view of locked amount view time. Only thing I would add is 3G connection and allow stream over Internet , if it does, than I have not set up for that yet

Any problems with this app are on your end. This is the most simple and useful app of its kind. I wish the people who made it were in charge of other stuff...like the government or something. Everything you want and nothing you don't.

Works Great!. Does exactly what it says it will do. I'm not sure how you could give this a bad review. It literally will stream 4gb pro res files from my computer. Incredible. - Has a great interface with a very nice file browser. - Lets you adjust quality based on your connection speed.

Useful. I really like vlc, all their products on pc and tablet alike. That said, this is great for streaming if you have wifi ( I use it quite often). You can have your digital collection on your computer (which we do on our htpc) and have the option of viewing any of the collection on iPad without taking up the space. Few dislikes: If you don't have a speedy connection, this wont work for you The ads, and badgering to upgrade...this is intentional of course as there is no benefit to the creator if not. The picture often pixelates (once per 5 minutes or so). Still fine enough that I use it and find it useful.

Great app but not working since update. One of my favorite apps on my iPad. Allows me to access my entire library. Since I assume the last update however, my iPad can't find my computer. Not sure what is up.

When it works, it's great. The helper app crashes and fails to transcode most video files. And by most, I mean it only worked on 4 of about 20 that I tried. Also it puts a grey bar across the top of the screen during playback. Sometimes the iPad app fails to see computers until you force a restart of the app. Sometimes when clicking a movie to play, the App will close to desktop and will crash every time you try to run it until you kill it in memory. When choosing a file to watch, sometimes it doesn't wait for you to select the quality. Other times, select the quality and clicking watch doesn't do anything until you kill the app in memory. But when it works, it's great. Definitely try before you buy. All this testing was done on ipad2 with a win7 pc running the helper app.

Pretty Good. This app is OK in my book. It is pretty simple for an above basic user to use without any intructions, and easy for a basic PC user to use with a little help. Security with this app is verified, you can set a password so only you can access your PC with it to watch movies, and you can even choose the quality you wish to view them. Maybe you have high speed connection and want to watch a high res video on your iPod/iPad/iPhone, just choose taht option. Or maybe you want the lowest and fastes speed for a low speed connection, choose taht option. It is very simple to use. I love this app, but two things make it a 3-star rating; 1: Did not automatically detect my computer and 2: SOmetimes to exit a screen you must close the app, there is no back button. For issue "1", you can just easily enter your IP address of your computer manually, super easy. And for "2", not much of a big deal. Overall, I love this app and will for sure be useing it. I am very picky about apps, and this one passes to be on my iPod Touch. I'm Dominic, and I reccomend this app

Ads during videos, can't skip. Ads are displayed through whole video. Unlike all other video players that let's users skip to any parts of the video not yet buffered and start buffering from the part the user skipped to, this player only allows the user to skip to parts that have finished buffering. This means for long videos, if you want to watch from the 60 minute mark for example, you have to wait several minutes before you can skip directly to that part.

Unable to try app. It immediately pops up with advertisements for the full version. Subscribing to either monthly or Annually. Closing the advertisement only results in it opening up again. What’s the point in having this version, if it requires you to get the full version?

Amazing. I can't believe what you can do with this app. I might even be able to stream over the Internet, though that makes me nervous for potential cracking. I'm amazed you can pick movies to stream from your device and they will play before transcoding completes. It is rather rough around the edges so be prepared for that. There can be challenges with getting the conversions to work. You may have to use Handbrake to get a movie that it can then transcode (thus two conversions)

excellent program, sometimes no sound. excellent program, can't believe it's free. The ads are little and unobtrusive. I would like that the program has the option to select automatically the quality of the stream based on the original file settings ( trying to make the less conversion ). The only bad thing its that sometimes sound doesn't come up. I think its codec related problem. Byessss

VLCStreamer. Can’t add password to srt stream in mobile app

Great video streamer!. After trying other video streamers, I tried this one. I've been happy with this one for over a year! I'm using a clunky, late 2007 MacBook - once the videos are processed on the MacBook, which can be done at my convenience, VLC Streamer plays them as we'll as if not better than the MacBook!

Thank you for this app!. While the automatic connection doesn’t always work, this is such a useful app for me! I’m certainly glad you made it and I hope it continues to survive. Particularly, it’s great to be able to watch my DVD’s on my iPad. I also appreciate that there was careful effort put into writing the various instructions on the site.

Awesome App. Wow! This an excellent app. Now I watch all my vids via this app on my iPad2 directly streaming from my laptops and desktop computers including vids on flash drives connected to my comp. Wish there was an option to not display the recent vids but it's not a big deal, just an esthetic consideration.

Works great A+++++. Works good enough ,quality is very pleasing wile streaming to the iPad via wifi ,the only thing you've got to have a very powerful computer an I7 processor recommended because your computer has to convert al your streaming files in real time ....wish there was a easier way something like team-viewer but still this up will give you a better overall experience You got to have an internet speed of 18 Mbps or better in order to have HD quality rendering

Useless with out wifi. Worked ok while on wifi. Will not work with out the household wifi to connect to. I need a movie streamer that works over the internet without wifi.

A lot of bugs, app not maintained. There are alot of bugs lately. Nothing seems to be working.

One of the BEST practical Apps for iPhone and iPad. The original installation had a few complications, however persistence prevails ! The original issue may have been caused by a firewall, however by using the helper guide that accompanies the product as well as online searching some of the messages (changing a few setting in VLC itself) it worked !!!!! Now I can go room to room with the iPad and have a moving entertainment system to connect to any LCD screen ! Totally awesome ! Your installation may be far smoother than mine as I do have a dynamic firewall. Defenitly worth the download and the purchase.

Porn advertisements.. I have been using this app to play some on line class lectures at higher speed. Unfortunately the app will randomly launch ads that stop your video playback or your audio playback and cover the screen with unwanted advertisements. The thing that finally drove me to leaving a bad review on here was that I literally had a full screen ad of a topless woman show up this morning . This has to stop. My children could have been using this app. Or I could've been streaming a perfectly innocent cartoon for them and then all of a sudden you got a naked woman in their face. Not only do the ads completely interrupt the audio/video that you are streaming, but they also automatically start your entire video or audio from the beginning and you have to waste time finding where you left off.

Invasive ads. I understand the need to monetize via ads. I really do. I tried to watch one minute of a sample video uploaded on my Dropbox just to give a try, living -disgusted- with an ad bar that takes 20% of my iPad Air 2. Then switching back to the videos list a fullscreen ad of 10 seconds popped out. I'm an user of VLC since 2001 and I know well its power. I would prefer a demo version with cutted features, limited time usage or whatever, and I will probably consider buying the full version. These ads-everwhere pratices do not push me to try then buy the full version, it just pushed me in hurry to remove it from my device. I really can't stand invasive ads. This is a turndown. Deleting and looking for other solutions.

Why?. I like this app. But, 1. Why would I want to be able to sit at home and watch this from my iPad. When I can watch it from my laptop just as easily and I could hook my laptop up to a tv. 2. Why should it be just at home that I can watch any movie that I have. Why can it not play over any wifi connection as long as my computer was up and running. 3. Is there a way that if I wanted to download the movie or show to my pad and watch it through this app that I could. And if so how do I do that?

Garbage app. This app is absolute trash, no where near as good as the official VLC app. It requires processing of all. Ideas before it will let you watch them which takes a long time and worst of all, many are converted into very low quality files, even when quality settings are on high. VLC official app does not require conversion, it just streams files. Unfortunately there is a bug in the streaming feature so I was forced to download this trash until they fix it, but omg this app is HORRIBLE. iPhone 6s Plus

Top Notch. I was using an app that you had to manually add the videos, this app you can just pull them off of the computer or device as you please. I think this is the only app I bought the full version of because I plan on using it a lot... I mean a lot! In bed with the iPad and don't have to get up to add another movie ever agin!

Love the app. I love the app I can watch my favorite movies and shows on the go... how about now that IOS 11 is out.. where is the PIP update?

Amazing. Does exactly what it says it will do. I love this app, and no wonder it VLC. And that should be enough righ there! If you have movies on your pc and dont want to go to all the trouble to convert them and put them on your iPad where they take up space, then this is a must get. You will not be disappointed!

Awesome. What more could you ask for really?. Had a little bit of a setup problem with windows firewall blocking me out, however when fixed, I found this program to be very powerful! Best little utility there is! In free version is ad supported, however, still great! A feature it could use: ability to delete files from computer if desired.

Solid app. The way it works is you download a program on your desktop, drag and drop the movies you want to stream to your IPhone, it converts the movies very quickly in iPhone compatible format. Then you use your app to choose the movies you want to stream. No bugs, no issues, fast setup, very reliable. Free version shows a ad at the bottom of your movie. I think the $2 to remove them on the full version is worth it.

Works well - wish the server had more options. Works well. The server streams well, and the player can start showing the video pretty quickly. It is a bit annoying that if you leave a video, it doesn't resume from the same place, but you gave to start from the beginning again. Also, I have an iPad, and I wish it would offer the videos in the full resolution my iPad supports, rather than maxing out at 640 pixels per line.

Boring. There's nothing really wrong with the app I suppose. It plays shows, it may be nice for some to be able to select the bandwidth and resolution. Here's where the problem comes in. It brings nothing new to the table. It does the same thing Airvideo, Cinexplayer, and Zumocast do and offers nothing unique like those players do. In a sea of these type of programs its presented itself as the new minnow in a fleet of sharks. I'd give it one star, but its not a faulty program, its functional, it does what it says it does. Its just boring and not something I'd expect from VLC. Addendum: I did run into a minor issue with the PC software. I downloaded it, installed itand started conversion of my first movie. After a short time, I stopped running the program and server, however, it did not remove itself from my active programs and had to be forced shut. Very disappointing.

Killed by 1.62. Looks like the April 25th update from 1.61 to 1.62 killed the playback feature of the app - making it useless like the author states in the description. I give it 5 stars anyway because it's FREE and I'm sure it'll work this week sometime. Keep up the good work.

mkv files not working. this is a really wonderful app. it works flawlessy with avi files. However with mkv files it plays the video but there is no sound. Not on the iphone nor on the tv. i have tried with different videos but with the same result. if you could fix this, it would really be a wonderful app. Thank you.

good implementation but could be better. this is a free good movie player for ipad. only a few problems, one of which is to drop a frame every 3 to 4 secs when playing. I tried with every possible bitrate and resolution but the results are same. and it is veeery annoying once you know it'll tick you every few seconds. dont pay for the non-free version unless this bug has been fixed

Great. Hi guys, this is a great app, i'm using the free version though,,,! here your computer acts as Server and the Mobile VLC streamer acts as a client ,,, the only thing you need is to leave your PC turned ON with some movies you like- that's it, even if it is locked , you can still access the drives...! I have only 4 stars because, it is not working for my iPhone 5 LTE connection, works fine with wifi, and I have to check whether both the devices should be in the same network/ connected over same wifi like air mouse- wireless mouse software,,, means when you are traveling, you are in another institution/office network/ wifi hotspots and can still access your drive. Hope there will be an update which can be used over 4G or LTE too.!

Great when it works. There was an update last week, since the update which was the only change app no longer works. On remote computers all firewalls are off and even when they are not all tests pass however cannot connect to remote computers

Best stream player I used. I've been using VLC stream for half a year. It's very easy to use, stream videos very fast, and simple interface. Overall, stream video quality is fairly good, very little lag unless you're streaming high resolution video with explosion all the time. You can also add video through your phone, which is very convenience for computer set up on second floor.

Stream breaks. If streaming from internet addresses every time phone rings or you leave/connect to a WiFi it stops streaming and have to completely kill and restart app even if you don’t answer call.

VLC Streamer is a terrific app!. This app is fabulous! It was easy to set up with the helper app on our PC and now we have total access to the video library on our server (videos are located on a mounted drive). The picture quality is great on our iPhones and iPad (and anything we have started to watch is visible from all three devices). We will definitely upgrade to the full version.

Paid for the full version. Even when I paid for the full version—I got his advertising—-I emailed him—2 days later advertising is gone—-after over a week —-advertising is back on…what does it take to get what you paid for?

Best App I own!. Have been trying to get an app like this for ages! AirPlay failed to work for me after much effort and came across this. Had an issue at first with buffering, but i sent an email and got an immediate reply to try switching off bluetooth (this info is actually provided with the app, I found out) and the problem was solved! Really easy to use streaming from my computer! Great app and great support!

Disappointed. I never thought I would be writing a negative review about VLC Streamer and I've been using it for over 2 years. I have waited patiently version after version for about 6 months now for a fix the the repeated network issues. I have changed router, phone and computer with no improvement and every other device and app I use works perfectly. I think I am going to have to reevaluate how I stream media in my home.

Poor. Good concept but really lacks a vital feature that all vlc players should have; the ability to play mkv with audio. Movie does not start from where you left off even if you were navigating within app. Ads pop up while you playing the video. Isnt having ads on the bottom enough ?

Very handy app.. The app does what it says, its simple to setup and even saves your movies on your iPod when its done streaming, so you can watch whenever you want. Definitely worth it.

Audio/Video sync issues. Great app but does suffer from audio/video sync issues when you pause or adjust screen format for videos downloaded onto your device

Poor video quality. Works and plays anything but the quality of the video is terrible. And it keeps buffering. Air play has much better quality but on the other hand cannot play most of my avis.

Great app but needs work. Didn't have problems before but the app crashes when it tries to load ads. A way to fix this is to delete and download the app again

Very handy. Only problem is the intrusiveness of some of the ads, especially Candy Crush ones which open themselves in the App Store, which resets the stream.

Not happy.. The app I had to install on my Mac made it run extremely slowly and charging it fully was going to take 20 hours, when it usually takes 20 minutes. I wasn't happy at all. It also refused to show me the movies I had streamed. Nothing against the creators, obviously other people have been happy with it. Definitely not buying the full version.

Works great for me... A wee problem when I changed the default play directory to another one to get it off my C drive wouldn't recognise the port for some reason - but a reboot fixed that. Not sure if there is a limit on how many "recent movies" get stored in the streaming directory. If it is not limited I'd like the ability to remove movies via my IPad so I don;t end up with Gigs and Gigs of duplicated movies. However overall - it's working like a charm and you can't beat the price.

Best app ever perfect. These guys are unbelievable can they do anything wrong they just keep coming with the good stuff every time.

Best Streamer yet. I use this app every day with my iPhone and iPad. Works fast and perfectly every time and streams all the common formats!

On iPhone it is a tiny bit sticky. What I mean by that is its a tiny bit stops every few seconds for tiny milliseconds while I'm watching smallville. It isn't smooth enough. Maybe a different type of setting would help. I originally got this app to stream tv shows to my iPad mini (I've ordered it). I hope it's more smooth on ipad

Great. Best app so far! I tried several video apps and none worked. This worked straight up! No messing around.

Frustrating and over complicated. No clear instructions, had no idea what I was doing. Also requires you to install a program on your computer. Frustratingly annoying and problematic to set up, definitely not worth it. If you could just drag and drop videos straight into app from itunes it would be so much better.

Does what it says. As it says there is an application you need to run on your PC. This was easy for me to install , however windows did not ask me to add it to the firewall exceptions, this could trip some people up.

Don't download! Doesn't work!. As specified in the description. Just in case you miss it. There is currently a major bug and the app does not work at all. I hope there is a fix soon! As I can't wait to use this app. Good luck fixing it guys. Look forward to it!

Fantastic. Does everything it's supposed to. Only issue I have is wifi connection drops out sometimes and have to exit movie to get it to reload.

VCL Streamer. A great little app. Works beautifully for streaming movies in a number of different formats. Easy to setup and use. Can recommend it.

Don't update. I got this app about 3 mouths ago and it was epic ran well but when I finely restarted my PC and did the updates that's where everything has goon wrong I can not watch anything now it just keeps loading and loading I can not watch anything I will rerate this app when they fix this but please fix it ASAP

Impressed. Great app - I hate importing videos into iTunes. I find I need to restart the app every time I use it lest videos refuse to play however. Being a solid PC user for the past 17 yrs, this was naturally one of the first apps that I went searching for. It'll always beat Windoze media player hands down.

Need a pc, bit useless 10,000 miles from home. Sounded like a good idea, wanted to see the avi file my daughter had from a sports camera, downloaded the app, then discovered that i had to connect my ipad to a pc in order to use it. Not much help when i am in canada and mypc is in australia....

VLC for my iPad... GREAT. This app is great. The setup is the trickiest part but extremely simple if you know how to read (takes 5 minutes). I know most people want super quick and super simple but unless you take the time to allow your iPad access to your computer this won't work. Don't complain if you're too lazy to do that. What's great is now I don't bother wasting time trying to convert my video library and add to iTunes because this app will do it on the fly and stream real-time. It also will output in 720p HD which is great if I want to connect it to my HD tv. Just remember it will only be able to handle the real-time conversion and playback according to your computer systems capability. If you don't meet the requirements you'll end up waiting for conversions to happen and it will interrupt your playback experience. The good thing is you can put it on to render and comeback later to watch if that is the case. Now my computers are free to use and my AppleTV gets a little break more often. Great work.

Poor. For a media streamer, why does this not stream music? Video function is good but also needs another application for the computer which is not mentioned in description, which vipre antivirus says is as bad site, I downloaded anyways and it seems ok but app is definitely a let down.

Streamerific. It's definitely the best app for doing streaming of any content to your iPad. Now I can have my home movies (in pretty much any format) on a desktop and I can sit in bed watching movies streaming to my iPad. Now I just need a stand for my iPad.

Works absolutely fine. I suspect the previous person either had an old model phone or didn't set their network up properly. Haven't found a movie I haven't been able to play yet.

Recent problems. I agree with below reviewers. The app was great, until some recent update that rendered this app unusable. Can't watch anything, it just keeps loading. I hope this will get resolved. 3 stars. 5 (past versions) + 1 (recent) / 2 = 3

Constant adds really distracting. Pointless software.... The adds make the movies unwatchable. Get the paid version or don't bother getting it at all... Plus even the conversion chews your PC resources as much as any other video converter.... You may as well just convert the video to H264 Mpeg4 and watch it with home sharing in iTunes. Kind of pointless in that respect. Doing it through video in iTunes is free plus then you have it on home sharing to watch on Apple TV and don't have to pay for the VLC app twice.

So irritating it's unbearable and unwatchable. The good: by far the easiest installation on the PC and subsequent use on the iPad of any home video streaming app for the iPad out there. The bad: the free version is the most annoying free app ever. The banner at the bottom is so intrusive and irritating that it makes the video unwatchable. And it's so infuriating that the last thing one wants to do is pay a single cent to the author for the banner-free version.

Works a treat. Using this in place of Airvideo (which doesn't work with my Synology). Set up in no time, works a treat.

Buggy, ripped off. Purchased the full version in the bundle, the next day the app ceased to recognize and pair with my PC. After trying to pair extensively, I deleted the app to try and reinstall, however it is asking me to pay again! Don’t buy!

Why subscribe?. Why would you pay an ongoing fee to subscribe when VLC Streamer Pro does exactly the same thing, and it is ~$5 AUD one off payment? And from what I can see it is made by the same company…

Could be great.... Hey, here's an app that works, does pretty much what it says. What more could you want? Easy. Put a price on it and don't trick people into downloading it and then hit them with ads for things they will never use, and, this is the important bit, pay for. I would have happily paid for this app, but there are others that do the same job and put their cost upfront. Need to do much better.

Solid. Great Video Playing App that is simple to use and plays most video formats. I haven't had an issue with any of the versions since I got the App years ago.

Buffering…. Buffering… Buffering…. I have 100Mbps down, 40Mbps up, am using the same wifi connection at home on the same network and every time the video takes over a minute to start playing and it keeps stopping to buffer constantly. I’m only using 1080p quality and it’s still slower than a Monday at work with a hangover. Won’t be subbing, will find a different app for my streaming. App deleted.

Didn't work. Installed the helper app on my PC (which also installed .net!) and tried to stream videos to my 4S without success. Did all the troubleshooting steps but it was all too much hassle. You need to be a network geek to get this working, and I'm not. Oh, and it converts all videos first before streaming them. This means you can't just stream a folder of videos as they are; you need to specify each video individually first and WAIT for them to be converted. Waste of time.

Perfect!!. Can't see others can't get it to work, pretty easy set up... Install the app and another one on the pc/Mac tadaaa ^^ enjoy !! :)

Excellent - great result. Works perfectly for what I needed. Simple browse of computers folders from iPad and select file. Watch video on iPad. Simple. Will copy file to iPad too if you want. Now looking for similar photo app.

Audio playlist bug. Create playlist button does not work in audio section and edit a song name/ title does not work in ios 16 on iphone pro max :( hopefully we have a fix soon.

Impressed. Great app - I hate importing videos into iTunes. I find I need to restart the app every time I use it lest videos refuse to play however.

utterly unusable without appropriate backend. If one has Linux as desktop (helper PC) this software is completely useless.

Want my money back. Used to work, but stopped working a few weeks back. ipad can't discover my laptop anymore, so now it's a useless app I paid for!!!

Not recommended. When using this app from an iPad 2, my MacBook pro overheated and the fan was running so intense in my MacBook that it bothered me, so i stop watching the movie. Plus, there is a grey bar on top of the video and annoying advertising in the bottom. The quality is very poor greyer and blurry, that that the advertisement looks more eye soar because it's brighter than the actual movie. I have never gave this poor review for an app than this one. I would recommend other apps that does the same thing but will not harm computer to overheat. Overall, this app is one of the worst. Why? Because of advertisement, grey bar, laptop overheating, slow buffer even with side-by-side laptop and iPad not recommended if your going to use this on another room because it may cause your laptop to overheat and cause a fire, and buffer system it only downloads a few minutes, so if something happens with the connection between your laptop and iPad, it will pause. 1 star out of 5, worst experience watching a movie in avi format.

Movies fail to bounce from iPad to Apple TV. Normally If would check the support forums when I have a problem with an app, but I wouldn't in the case of VLC streamer. Its forum requires that my email address becomes available to other forum users.

So bad. Not only does the free version have an ad that can't be turned off even after tapping and seemingly supporting via ads but then this app absolutely bogarts the PC CPU to work. Theres better paid apps compared to this and I wouldn't risk purchasing if the free version is this bad.

Crappy Horrible App!!!. The author must be getting pennies on 1 dollar forcing them to run dozens of worthless crap commercials to earn. Extorting viewer to buy real version. Cannot pause a movie for even 2 minutes. On un- pause movie crashes. Then on movie restart-you guessed it more crap commercials before movie starts. Sound is out on movies most of time forcing yet more restarts & forcing viewer to view more crappy commercials. Very POOR App!!! If I could give this app ZERO stars, that's even too much.

Needs a computer running? That's so 2000. Used VLC for years on my PC. Wanted to stream movies to my tv, but you need to have a PC on and running, with a 'helper' file installed on it. It won't recognize my NAS hard drive on my network. Sorry VLC, think I'll stick with Infuse for now.

Works gooder. Worked as advertised out of the box. iPhone 6 and windows 10 pc hooked up like a champ. Get the app pay for the full version and enjoy.

Keep crashing when select Local Network. The good: if you upload your movies inside the app it works most of the time and can read numerous codec. The bad: app keeps crashing (in 99.99% of the time) when select Local Network. It works 2-3 times since i installed it otherwise crash crash crash! I googled it and i dont find any solution.

explain me. I install free version ,transfer one movie via itune and try it ,perfect work great so i buy the full version and now IMPOSSIBLE to put movie via itune they force me to use helper and even with its extremely long to transfert movie and really hard to use so can you tell why the full version cannot be easy to use with itune as the free version...

iPhone 5s and i5 new computer. I've an iPhone 5s and an i5 computer. The buffering aspect hangs every 4 minutes. I just gave up.

Rarely works. I have to keep restarting the computer to get the program to work, very frustrating. If it ever starts working is usually drops out after 10 mins. Also you have to start the movie at the beginning, for example if you want to start a movie 1 hour in, you have to wait until the entire hour loads

Wow!. Very easy. Now I can watch videos on my phone that I already have (not in iPhone friendly version). Good for keeping children occupied.

Horrible.. Takes forever to upload and if your more than 5 feet from your computer it will freeze every 15 seconds.

Great for a free app. Couldn't ask for more except maybe the ability to not lose my place - ie no multitasking.

As advertised. Very happy with it.. Haven't tried too many different formats yet but so far it works great! There are a few minor bugs but I'm not paying anything for it so I'm more than happy dealing with them. Can't wait to watch this software evolve!!

Worked perfectly. Worked perfectly until a few days ago. Now the app on the Mac after installation doesn't open. Was great when it worked.

Scanning for hours.... I like the idea behind this app but it doesn't work properly... I cant just watch movies anytime, takes me hours to even see my computer on the app, it's just scanning for ever i was planning on getting the full version bit not anymore unless things changes...

Great for streaming while at home!. All video files from your desktop or laptop at your fingertips from anywhere in the house.

Great app!. Great app and easy to install!! Brings your movie collection anywhere your ipad can go! Just don't forget to install the server on your desktop/server and the client program on your iPad.

Rejected like security risk. We have a custom made security watch program in my work network that allows stuff that more people are not permited in other companies. But VLC was refused because the program can not be isolated to specific areas when running. Is a bad security risk for any system.

Works as advetised. It is working so well I'm probably going to buy the paid version.

Works great. I use this to stream Divx movies stored on my network drive, and watch them on my iPad. It does a great job on sound and video. And it plays music files stored on my network drive as well. Very pleased with the app.

Awesome app. I don't know what other people are complaining about. This app works perfectly for me. Setup is easy and quick. Just have to put a movie and keep it for some time to load. Highly recommended.

Perfect!. Long time VLC user here. This is a great and EASY way to take advantage of the awesomeness that is VLC! If you can't get is to work get a new wifi router because the one you bought at circuit city just isn't making the cut any more...

Liked it so much I bought it. If you have the need to stream from a home Media center, this is an option worth checking out. Its simple, clean and the paid version offers much more functionality. I primarily use it to stream recorded TV from my windows media center to an iphone or ipad. So far its been fantastic. There have been a few hiccups but they are fixed fairly quickly as long as they are reported on their support channel. Would recommend

Great App Could Be Better. I really like this app but it could be better. I occasionally get buffering when playing videos. But that issue could have something to do with Internet speed. I also like that you can set a password to limit browseable directories. Overall this app is a must have.

Convert and copy, not really streaming.. This program simply converts your video file into several hundred .TS files, then copies it over your wifi in small chunks. The conversion process takes a long time, and doubles the amount of file space your video takes up. If that's what it's going to do, I'd rather use handbrake to convert more efficiently. If I'm converting anyways, then I didn't really need VLCstreamer in the first place.

Amazing player, but some connectivity issues. I have a very fast internet connection, but even streaming the normal rez videos takes a while, and my ipod (5th gen) loses connection with my computer more often than i'd like.

Best app in the Apple ecosystem. This is the best app out there for video. The ONLY improvement I could suggest is making it work over the data network rather than wi-fi only. Love it!!

Great app with great support!. Had problems installing this app at first. Almost gave up but decided to contact Hobbyist via their forum. Their customer support is outstanding. Their technichian logged into my computer remotely and fixed the problem right up! App works great. Couldnt be more pleased!!

removed it. Could not see my computer without installing another application VLC streamer on my computer. After which ti could see my computer, however failed the testing. Only support after that is shut off your fire wall. Which I Did and still failed test ing in step two. So REMOVE software from PC and will sync my phone and remove APP next

Does as promised well, simply. Very handy for classes since I can take Vids for laptop to study, notate. Then review on phone/pad during crunch time. It's smooth, intuitive and reliable. Upgraded version gives you no ads and expanded features. Thanks!

Very slow so far.... I've been waiting for this function for years and was excited to find it. However so far I'm a little bummed cuz it's very slow. I have a 45mbps connection so I don't think it's on my end. I've been waiting an hour to get my movie processed. It's kinda buggy too. Idk maybe it's not set up right.

Great app but with bugs. This is an amazing app! It plays mkv videos on the iPad! Only problem is it glitches way too often. I would definitely buy the full app if the bugs were fixed

Understand the ads, they are just too annoying to watch anything. I'm really disappointed on the developer. The app before was better, had less intrusive ads and was less annoying to work with. The ads in highlighted letter force you to buy the app because it is almost impossible to watch anything with those ads. Please fix it or don't creat VLC streamer free, just make a ad free version.

Works great but.... I would suggest spending the $2 to get paid version. Yeah it's pretty annoying, but the functionality is there. Anyway I think the developer deserves the two dollars to eliminate the annoyance and let him pay his rent.

VLC DOES IT AGAIN!. Fantastic ability to handle various formats and stream/ upload. Does depend on connection speed, quality settings, etc. but works as described. Free version is great thank you! Payed has some extra features, if ya like. Bravo! Thanks for your work :)

IPad Video Playback Fails. Sorry guys, the concept is great but the streamer simply doesn't work on iPad. Constant errors that VLC cannot play my content. I've taken a look at the logs and the app may be sending a null file name to the server. I'll be happy to up the ranking when this streamer plays out of the box. (Installed another app and it worked within 5 mins.)

Highly recommend. This is an excellent app! I could not play .wav recordings on my iPhone, so I was looking for a tool to be able to do that. Works great.

Never worked. I've had this app on my ipad for a couple of years now and it has connected to my computer exactly never. I've gone through all the help files but it just never finds my computer. ( Manual or auto) I've been able to find other apps that do what I want (mostly find and connect to my computer) so I just use those. I kept the app hoping it would eventually update and work but no such luck. Guess I will finally get rid of it.

Keeps crashing. It either doesn't have a sound after commercials came up at the beginning, or it crushes in the middle of the show and results in the whole rebooting of my iPad. I use the app in case of very important situations where I need my child to not bother me for the 10 min of her short show, but of course that fails.

Vlc. This is my far the best app I have purchased on the iPhone 4s already had vlc on my pc this is so awesome and easy to use

Love it!!. It's made by VLC. What more do you need to know? No issues with PC portion of the pair. First use seemed a little quirky (only because I don't read instructions...haha) but super easy to use.

Update fixed pixelating. Perfect for my use, easy to use, had a problem with tiling in the middle of my show, but the latest update fixed that. Happy to recommend it.

Very convenient. Great app! I can fold my laundry and watch any movie on my iPad. You get a "buffering" glitch every now and then, but for the most part it works great. You can watch any movie you have on your computer.

Works as advertised.. Had no problem setting this up. Going to buy the full version next time I have more spending money.

What's the point of this app?. "vlc streamer app" works ok, but what's the point if I'm at home and my computer and big screen are right in front of me? maybe its good keeping kids busy w movies while i use my computer. (Hide the bad movies.) but I don't have any kids. So I have no use for this app. Unless it worked off 3G...

Get it. Iv been using vlc player for years and its always been my favorite player. I havnt been using streamer that long but iv liked it so far if you like vlc player youl like the streamer.

Works good. I like it so far. I will probably buy the full version after playing around with it some more. One thing I noticed so far is that it crashes every time I tap see movie settings.

99% of what I wanted. It is what was missing from iOS. The only complaint I have is that the slider knob (fast-forward) is too tiny to grab using an iPod touch.
