What is golden ear app? * All in one lossless music player: FLAC+APE+WAV+WavPack+AIFF+ALAC

Golden Ear Comments & Reviews 2026
Zero functionality for 96khz. Get the Onkyo Hi Fi player for iPhone instead. Works for iPad with the $10 hd upgrade and outputs 196khz from iPad or iPhone to my external Geek 1000 dac. You have to search in iPhone only apple App Store to find it, doesn't show up in iPad apps. Removing Golden Ear from my devices. No developer response ever. Wasted $8. I am disappointed to report that this app does not play 24bit 96khz aiff or wav files on my IPad 4. No sound from the speakers or headphone or USB ports using apple camera control kit. I've installed it twice. No response from my feedback to the developer. Be aware that there is no recourse or refund other than the developer for an app that does not function. At this point, I'm out eight bucks. If he contacts me I'll repost here and let you know. As of this point, don't throw your good money after mine.
easy to use. Does it have an Android version?
Best lossless music player I ever used!. I can enjoy the fantastic lossless music from my iPhone now!
Great app. The only downside of this app is there's no equalizer so icant tweek my music
No gapless playback, no support. There are short pauses between each track despite the description specifically stating that playback is seamless. As anyone else that listens to FLAC files, I am looking for as close to perfect playback as possible & this app is useless for that. I sent an email to the developer's support link, but have received no reply. Charging what they do for the app yet delivering one that does not perform as advertised is inexcusable.
Perfect. Lyric support is the most important feature of this app and makes me prefer this one instead of others. Folder management is pretty good also. Worths every penny. It also gets improvements frequently.
Good purchase. Good app! No frills flac player, gets the job done with a simple but nice interface. Only bug I've experienced so far was the app pausing the music every time I would switch to another app (I.e. Safari) but it was fixed once I restarted my iPad.
waw. Sounds very good , but I would do it in iphone. >\\\<
Sittriphon. Great app music
Fantastic app. Golden Ear is by far the best music app I have found for the iPhone. High resolution, lossless audio support? Look no further. The app is stable and hasn't given me any trouble over the year I have used it. Consistent updates make it better and better. Latest update for iPhone 6+ gives you the option of adding music to a que which is think is a game changer. Thank you for making a great music app that brings the lossless iPod to iPhone!
Doesn't work. developer fixed the crashing issue, everything works good now, just hoping for a more organized approach soon!! =)
Good player!. This app is hack of player, but please improve the user interface so that users can create nested folders! With a primitive UI like this, my classical music is going to mixed with jazz, and my Beethoven is going to meet Nora Jones...
Lovin it. Loving the ability to play FLAC files on my iPhone. I only wish the interface was more like the stock player.
Good, but need a few changes. This app never failed me, it read ALL the formats of lossless audio files that I found. I was worry about some weird format bc im an entry-lv audiophile :P. But I just dropped it in the folder without worrying about the formats at all. But here come the downside, there is no Search button in the list, I had to find the song manual and its painful searching for one out of hundreds. Also, the interface couldve been better. Also, this is important: sometime it freeze for a while when I change the songs. Even I turned off all apps. It still happened sometime, just sometime, not too often.
I put some .wav files on there and it crashed it over and over c ok for flack. I put wav files on there and it crashed over and over. Ok for FLAC.
reasonable price. between flac player and golden ears i absolutely chose this. 5.99$ is better than 9.99$. although 5.99$ is expensive too.
could be a lot better. I mean it does what It says it does but the menu is very hard to navigate and not intuitive at all. this app's menu system needs to be thoroughly re done. I can't believe I payed 8$ for this app.
Great flac player but...... Really needs to support adding files through file app. No one really plugs in devices anymore ;) and CarPlay support
Need a way to play sequentially in album folder. Need a way to play sequentially in album folder without adding files to queue. Play fro here function is only available inside queue. This is a pain.
Decent ape/flac/cue player. First need urgent upgrade to iPhone 5. Much room to improve friendly UI, better signs. Do like the feature of pulling music files directly from computer to app and recognize cue sheet. Come on to make it more perfect!
Great!. This is the only audiophile app I've tried that is worth having on the ipad. The interface is simple, fairly attractive, and makes managing files easy. Files can be transferred either wirelessly or through iTunes with a usb cable; transferring wirelessly is preferred as it will allow you to keep folders and the whole file structure intact. Doesn't have a huge number of extra features that you will never use, and it does what it advertises to do---play music--- exceptionally well unlike many of the feature rich apps. There is no equalizer, but who cares? I've used a few other "audiophile" apps, and I like Goldenear the most. Flac player is nice, but is only able to play FLAC, which makes it unusable for me. Caprico has the worst interface I've ever seen, is prone to crashing, and the volume does not get loud enough. Tuneshell is made for the iPhone and not the iPad. Equalizer pro is no longer in development. Caprico does handle album art better but that is a minor point.
Hmm. FLAC Player is a much better app. No dock controls on Golden Ear, it's hard to change the volume on this one (on FLAC Player is just like the iPhone) I had some problems playing FLAC files, they skipped a bit, I have not experienced any skips with FLAC player, which I use every single day (all my music collection is FLAC) It is nice to search by artist or albums, and the shuffle feature is something very useful. Nice interface, nicer than FLAC player's, bur still I'd recommend FLAC player anytime. Also, that icon?? What were the developers thinking? An angel?? Very lame.
nice player. It would be better if there is a faceid or a passwd lock~o(〃'▽'〃)o
Nice App. I really like this app. I only wish I could adjust the font size for displaying lyrics from an lrc file.
Nice update!. Love the new UI design
Best FLAC/APE Player Out There. The FLAC Player app has really frustrated me: It often freezes my iTunes when I copy files to it, it doesn't have a "Shuffle All" option, and you can't delete individual files within a folder. So I decided to try Golden Ears. I've only been using it for a few hours, but already I'm very impressed. I copied many files over, and not once did it freeze. The app organizes songs by artist and album, and has a list of all files in case some of your files are not tagged. There's a "Shuffle" mode, which will either shuffle all songs by an artist or within an album (if you picked a song from the Artist or Album list) or all songs on the app (if you pick a song from the "Show All" list). You can delete individual files from the app in iTunes. It also has a "lock" button in case you want to keep your screen active but not let the volume or scrubbing bar get moved accidentally. Best of all, it seems to play APE files without any problems. This is an amazing achievement, because so few portable music players are able to play APE files at all, or without freezing up. The only problem I've noticed so far is that it will freeze briefly (up to a few seconds) when I unlock my Touch/iPhone (from the blank sleep screen). It also skips briefly sometimes when switching songs if a song is currently playing. Also, I wish it had the ability to make custom playlists, to rate songs, and to delete songs from the player. But these are minor faults in light of the stability of the program and its ability to shuffle, play APE, and display album art. It seems well worth the $6 introductory price. Well done, Chaoji Li!
Really wanted it to work. Organization, not good, play back ok (until songs cut out and skips to the next track). Which happens often. Use of album info, not good cover art gets selected to wrong album, even after naming everything the same for the album. To bad, DELETED APP.
Please add Dlna support.. Good player, but without dlna, nas, meda renderer control (play to.. function) it's useless :(
Supports cue files, very battery friendly. Plays all lossless formats, can play 24bit files, supports cue files. Sound quality is just stellar. Very important to me - very battery friendly, does not drain battery much.
Cool And Great. Simple but Cool and Works Great ::.
Simple UI, perfect performance. Worth it's price.
EQ. It's really interesting to know about EQ on a Golden Ear app in future updates!
good app doing what it's designed for. if you have many flac or ape files accompanied with cue like I do. this is probably the app for you. One thing I like most about this app is that it allows you to create folders so you separate songs by albums or artist as you like.
Broken on iphone6. crash city…. can on;y listen to one song at a time…. unable to play albums…. I love this app but something bad happened with the update
dsf文件不能播放. can't play .dsf files, thank you!
Simple, Perfect. This is the only app I found that will consistently play all of my lossless music without unneeded bells and whistles. Just a pure audio player, and a very good one at that
Great program.... Been a long time user of Golden Ear... Was hoping you would, at some point, provide an equalizer function... similar to foobar2000. Thx for a great program. Sent from my iPhone
居然不支持CUE文件open in. 如题。 其它app里的cue文件不支持用这个软件打开!
Fantastic app for the audiophile. Only docking the one star because I wish it supported CarPlay. Other than that, it does what it should: play FLACs.
EQ. Love this app, but they need to add a EQ.
Good app.

Brilliant Music app for HiDef / Bit Rate files. A Must if you would like to listen to high resolution music files. great sound and plays just about all std file types w/ high bit rate. Made for anyone who wants to listen to MORE THAN the highly compressed mp3 files from the iTunes store.
Best app for audiophiles. This is the best app I've purchased, it supports all lossless formats as well as simultaneously displaying lyrics, an essential app for audiophiles. Specially if you have an a5 processor. You have precious headphones and awesome flac music, why not buy this app, it's only the price of some chewing gums. Totally recommended. update: plz fix the crashing bug!!!! and bring back old way to add songs to playlists, also thats the major reason of crashing, everytime i switch playlists my app crashed, i think its the result if havin duplicates songs and they collide. doesnt happen when i hide the songs i haven't added.
Brilliant. I love it, don't know why there aren't any positive reviews. I'm a professional musician, I can see my lyrics with the chords while my high quality backing music plays. Underrated and best kept secret, other apps are asking much more $. Would like rotating screen in next version, with more visible lines in the text . I love it, thank u!! (mikegant@hotmail)
Awesome. One of essential Softwares for lossless music lovers, works generally awesome for IOS 5 and if u are A5 processor, gotta be perfect. One blemish, however, it would be a step-forward if it could support lyric sync, hopefully see it in the future update
Very best app. Support flac and ape, easy to use, quick responds, long time using without mobile heat. Very good app for audiophiles!

It does the job.. Works as advertised. Hope to see many improvements and new features in the future as the app doesn't come cheap ;)
Wish it could play flac file without cue. It plays .flac files as long as you have a .cue file for that album or song. I have lots of albums with no cue files so this app is disappointing. The player will not open if you have just one song that doesn't include a specific .cue file. The organizing of the files could be better, there is no search option. You have to keep scrolling, and there is no separation of songs or albums unless your .cue file states that their is multiple songs in one .flac file. In which case it shows a slight indent in the song title (hard to notice if you have lots of songs to sort though. This app has a lot of potential if there was a search, but mostly lost my rating because of the lack of support of .flac files without .cue file.
简单,实用,没有多余的功能. 这种播放器才是真正把手机变成音乐播放器最好的工具,
Not ready for prime time. Just got worse after iOS 12.1, songs skipping frequently. Stuttering like an old 45 record player. Copy from Golden Ear using file sharing fails on iOS 11.4. Cannot import songs from the iCloud file folder. You have to email them to yourself and import it into the inbox. You can’t search your playlists only Artist list. Shuffle groups songs by the same artist, it does not shuffle the way most music apps do. Does not backup to iCloud even though it claims to in settings. The biggest problem with music apps on iOS is they are seldom updated leaving the user with only one option to buy another one.
A Possibly Stellar Application Ruined By Fatal Flaws. This is a stylish, well made (in the core features) application for listening to music save but a couple things that utterly ruin it as an application. Plays flac files (and other formats like mp3 files), this is great, and was my key need for a player on my iPod, to save time loading it up. What's horrible about this app and breaks it: 1. Random playback is utterly broken. It randomly plays a song alright, song to song, yet somehow, shockingly, bafflingly, instead of using Apple's own inbuilt player mechanism (I would think they could do, I may be wrong), or coding a decent one of their own, the Golden Ear developers have coded a random/shuffle song option where it does not remember what songs have been played before it in a collection/playlist. So you have say, 50 songs, play a song, randomly shuffles to the next new song, and then after that song, the player will not remember that the 2 previous songs have already been played and should therefore be excluded from the random songs selection going forward, and may well play either of them again. This is shockingly and bafflingly broken. I can't understand how other people haven't mentioned it yet, maybe they just haven't noticed it yet, it took me awhile to notice it. I'm not just whining, scenario where this annoys me in my life: I take my ipod with playlist and plug it in to my work radio, I keep most of my files at home stored as flacs, so I was happy to have this solution instead of constantly converting files for my ipod, but it's no solution at all since when I try to put on a "playlist for the day" half the songs keep coming up again and again. Thanks for making me waste my money on your app Golden Ear devs. 2. The 2nd glaring issue, as if the first one wasn't bad enough, is that the app will randomly cut off some songs early in the last 10 seconds or so to jump to the next song. I'm not imagining that, it can sometimes take awhile to notice, perhaps an hour or more of listening (as it doesn't happen with every song, or most, fortunately), but it absolutely does happen, I've verified it multiple times with multiple identical files between my PC player (Winamp) and different sessions with Golden Ear on my iPod. So, other than these 2 issues, there are a lot of amazing features, I'd say a darn near perfect, slick looking music app. So close to perfection, but so drastically ruined by bad coding and testing that the app is unusable for me in the (very normal) context I'd expect to use it in, which forces me to give it a 1 star review. If both of these issues are fixed in a future update, I will gladly update my review to a 5 star review, or a 4 star review if they simply fixed the random playback memory issue, as the app is now though it is just a waste of money.
Cheating!. It can't play any *.dts files. I just bought it minutes ago, how can I get refund?
Will this support DTS ?. If so,that will be great.
Indispensable. Avec les mises à jour cette application est une incontournable pour tout ceux ou toute celle qui veulent profiter de leur musique préféré.
Great app. Over the last few years I used Foobar2000 to create more than 6000 lossless wave and cue files which this program plays very well on my Monster Turbo Copper headphones. Only beef I have is that album cover art must be renamed.
