Solar System for iPad Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Freezes constantly. So this freezes constantly, and I mean constantly. It doesn't run for more than visualizing one or two planets. I have deleted and reloaded it multiple times without a fix. When it does work, it is completely silent, even the song. I assume they're supposed be some sound here. I'm not running it on old machine, this is an iPad Pro. As others have mentioned, there is been no new content added for probably 10 months (judging from the dull yellow/brown fuzzball they use as a model for Pluto). This wasn't exactly cheap as apps go, certainly not in the same league as Elements for quality. I would get my money back if I can figure out how.

Great imagery. Full of opinion.. Basically. This app has great presentation. But when you dig in the writing is a long winded diatribe on the 'settled science' of global warming. Boring! I would have bought Al Gores crap if I wanted to hear that. Get a brain and write some original Fiction!

Solar System for Every iPad except iPad 1. Is there anyway that Apple can stop pushing an upgrade on me that my iPad refuses to handle? I don't have iOS 6... Can't run the upgrade for Solar System. Even still, it won't leave the App Store upgrades section...

iPad 1. The developer abandoned iPad 1 users. I've deleted this app, and will not purchase another app from this company.

Why would you do this??!!. I'm kind of upset that this app no longer works on the iPad 1. I spent a lot of money on this and am pretty peeved that it no longer works.

No support for iPad I. I have 230 apps on my venerable iPad I. Many of them astronomy apps. Only 4 developers out of 230 apps have chosen to abandon the original iPad. None of those are astronomy apps. Like other reviewers, I paid fair money for your app, with the reasonable expectation that you would continue to support it. it is disappointing to find that you have abandoned that platform so quickly. Will you do the same with today's latest iPad in a couple of years?

Updated App Crashes Making the Previous Experience Horrible. This was a cool app until the most recent IOS6 update. Now the app doesn't work on my iPad2 3G + wifi. Even after updating the app it still crashes. Hopeful a fix is in the works or this app could be deleted soon.

Needs major update!!. I’ve had this app since it came out and they are horrible!! For updating data. Better apps for wayyy cheaper. Look at Pluto!!

Use to be a great app now a big waste of money. Please make this work for iPad 1. I loved the app before and now it won't work because of the decision to not let iPads update.

top space app. best app in the category of science or space. file size is large but totally worth it. hours of fun.

Amazing but where’s Eris and makemake. Cool but where’s eris and makemake I guess there in Oort Cloud

Solar System is truly out of this world!. What an incredible experience! As an amateur Astonomer I am completely thrilled with the awesome photos and background information. We are using this app in our Astronomy group workshops and tossing those old fashioned star charts that simply put folks to sleep.

Solar System Review. This book is an example of a superior ebook and can be useful to everyone. The rating would have been 5 star except for inclusion of warnings about "man-made global warming" which are not supported by scientific facts, even those within the book itself.

This is the future of textbooks. Hopefully, this app represents the future of interactive books. The only annoyance I've noticed is that you must have a network connection to bring up information on solar system bodies. Otherwise, the app crashes on my iPad 2. Other than that, I highly recommend this work of art!

iPad 1 update. We love this app! I am a pre school teacher and use this app when we have our solar system week. I wish I could update with the new info. Other than that it is a great and informative app!

Disappointed with new update. I am disappointed that the writers of this app have chosen to abandon the ipad 1 with the new update. Please reconsider. I have enjoyed this app greatly, traveling and learing about our solar system.

Absolutely beautiful!. The app is beautifully done. Informative and elegant. Please note that those giving one star are disappointed that the app no longer works with the iPad 1. It works beautifully with later iPads, though. Very cool.

Pretty awesome. Needs some work, but it is purely awesome

Great app... It crashes frequently throughout my experience.. Very good detail, enhanced graphics, I love it! But I can't work the kinks on the crashing problem.

Needs imagery update. I like this app. It’s really nice, the layout is wonderful, it’s easy to use. I was so excited when I finally saw an update for this app. However, none of the imagery was updated. Pluto is still pre-New Horizon’s picture. We have so many beautiful images of Jupiter now with the Juno spacecraft as well as many other bodies in our solar system. For the price, this app should be updated regularly to keep up with the information. Wanted to use it for teaching but unfortunately I can get better images off the web. Would give it five stars if there is a major imagery update.

Crashes. Crashes on iPad 4 as soon as you open it

Tech. Many reviews are disappointed about the lack of iPad 1 support. The problem is that Apple should never have brought out and advertised the iPad 1 the way they did. [Not including the memory, etc. at the time was a sign, as it does make a difference.] The iPad 2 is really what the iPad 1 should be, and probably will be the one to last the longest in future updates for various apps. Though with the retina display etc, it to will have seen its days. The problem is not as much the developers of the app, for what it is they are delivering, but the makers of the tech and what they choose to release and how it is advertised/perception of capabilities.

Disappointing imagery. However great the data in this app the imagery is so 10 years ago. Poorly spent money.

Great app.... ...but would like to see an update with new discoveries and updated pictures tied to Pluto and Ceres.

Informative and Beautiful. Really worth the money because it is intuitive, very attractive graphics and packed with information.

5 stars all the way. This is one of the best iPad apps, hands down. Superb information and imagery. Worth every penny. All of the less than 5-star reviews clearly don't understand what this is supposed to be. It's amazing and a masterpiece.

Very disappointed. I am VERY disappointed with the fact that I spend $10 on this and can't even get any more future updates for it because I am on an iPad 1.

Seriously. Don't update something I bought that I actually can't update!

The concept is awesome but it needs a lot of work, it's just v1.0.0. I think it needs an update now, it's been almost 2 years…you guys have had enough time to enhance the app. You are not featured anymore in any apple event or anything, other apps have surpassed you in being the focus of attention. The app is very good, I love the Orrery, it's just awesome, it's the best part of the app. You get to see the solar system spin from every angle as the planet you selected also spins around the sun. However, ipad retina came out….you owe a retina update as you owe The elements a major overhaul and all your other apps. I think you already updated Barefoot atlas for retina…although the drawings are still not-retina. Please update the graphics and resolution. I would like the planets to spin as they normally do in their explanation page. You can then touch them to stop them, move them around zoom in and out and then just do a quick flick so that they go back to spinning at their normal pace. That would be cool. The same way that in The Elements you don't keep the Nitrogen still, the vase is evaporating and fuming. I think that would be a good addition.

Could be nice if it worked. Hard to judge if this app is any good since it fails on starting. It is basic that an app should at least run. Touch Press usually does good work (such as Elements) but to release an app that can't even run on a 64GB iPad with iOS 7.0.3 doesn't say much. Hopefully they will fix this problem soon.

Won't let me open Uranus…. It might make me close inside Uranus, but now it won't let me open it!

Five Stars Once Updated. Please update w/modern Ceres, Pluto, and Charon images...not to mention Pluto's other newly discovered moons (yes we know it's classified as a dwarf planet). Everything else is quite enjoyable. Thank you!

Superb interaction. Seeing the planets and their moons in orbit is awesome. It brings it all the planets into perspective for young and old alike. There is a lot of information on all the planets. Great app.

Worthless. This app worked fine before the latest upgrade. Now it won't even open. The upgrade reaches about 20% then freezes permanently. Reinstalling the app won't work either.

Amazing Solar System reference, But needs recent data. Allows you to view the bodies of our Solar System, with pages of text and images, with an incredible Solar System model in 3D that can be expanded, shrunk, sped up and slowed down. Every bit as good as the author's reference on The Elements — However, data in the App (recent images of Pluto come to mind) really need updating.

Needs update. Pluto and Ceres updates needed. Info is rather limited in general. Visually pleasing though. If it wasn't on sale and I purchased... I'd be somewhat disappointed.

Just amazing. This app is amazing. The picture quality and interactive elements, the information, it can keep you glued to it for hours at a stretch. I have to admit, I was a bit leery about buying this. It's not cheap, and the only reviews up at the time of my purchase were complaints about it no longer being useable on the iPad 1. I took the leap, and I'm glad I did. Yeah, I'm a big old space nerd, but I really don't think that's a prerequisite for enjoying this app. It's gorgeous, it's fun, it teaches. I'm long past school age, but I can't imagine a better tool towards getting the kinder interested in space, to give that little nudge towards really enjoying astronomy class in school. This really is worth every penny.

Solar System out of this world. Great graphics and depth of information and organization. Fantastic app - it's what interactive publications should be like for the iPad. Nice work!

Do not download this app!!!!. I paid for this app and loved using it, especially with my kids. Now they won't support us suckers with the iPad1. That's a lousy way to treat customers. Don't become a sucker, find another app that offers continued updates and respect for paying customers.

BEST of the BEST!!!!. I have decided this app and your BAREFOOT ATLAS are the VERY BEST apps available, and I own about 800 apps. GORGEOUS graphics, and the best Solar System app I own. I own about ten. I will buy anything historical or geographical you develop. I hope you will develop a comparable app on American and world history. PERFECTION!!!

Nice, but needs an update. For the price, this app really needs new content. I would expect information and imagery from New Horizons, Rosetta, Dawn, and possibly Juno. The lack of new content at a $10 price point makes me feel ripped off. That said, I found the layout great. With more up to date content, this would be an easy 5 stars.

Needs An Update. I like this app, but it’s in severe need of an update.

Disappointing. I expected so much more for the price. The experience of this app is very similar to a glossy DK science book. There are very few animations and interactive activities. I am a teacher and considered this app for my classroom, but I will not use it because it is little more than a glowing encyclopedia. I do not consider this to be harnessing the power of technology in the classroom, except for perhaps the wow factor involved with holding an iPad. Students need to engage with the concepts, not be passive receptacles. The power of the iPad is in the ability to have dynamic content, not just a book that you press a button to turn the page.

Majestic. I will attempt to describe how phenomenal this app is! It is gorgeous, extremely user intuitive, and hard to put down. I am a homeschool mom, so I am constantly looking for educational information that captures students and draws them in. This app is a win from beginning to end. Well done!

Usually great but now crashing. Crashes on iPad mini. Tried restarting as instructed in the update but that didn't help.

Bad Update. No longer opens. Please fix, great app when you can open it.

Do Not Download!. The latest upgrade to this app only supports Apple IOS 6. If you choose to keep your device running on Apple IOS 5.1.1, this app will not allow you to upgrade and it will not function at its full potential. This developer has chosen to abandon everyone with an iPad 1 and everyone that has chosen to stay away from Apple's IOS 6.

So, no more updates to content? - Way behind. I like the interface for walking students through research methods. It's cleaner / faster than a full up 3D interface on the iPad and a big screen. But if you're not going to keep up with the rapidly changing local universe...

Used to work great!. Excellent book prior to last update, now it won't even open on my iPad 2. Please fix these crashes!!

Beautiful. Still my favourite app.

Solar System Problems. This app now crashes since the latest upgrade for IOS 7. Needs bug correction as useless on IPad 2 now.

App crashes. Can't open the app as it crashes on startup. After paying $15 I'm disappointed it doesn't work. Try explaining that to your seven year old who wants to learn about the solar system and was very excited to be using the app. Not happy.

Exits on launch. This is a great resource, but has a nasty bug right now. Hopefully they will fix it soon. I reinstalled this app fresh onto my new iPad mini and it crashes immediately upon launch.

Solar System. If you have Elements then this is better. If you have this get Elements. If you have any affinity with chemistry or astronomy you will love both of these apps. The graphics and data included will blow your mind or maybe even expand it. I would have paid double for both of them.

Great ebook but can't update anymore = poor. Purchased this a while ago, however disappointed that I need iOS 6.x now to view the updated content.. Not everyone can / wants to update to latest the iOS for various reasons and having an app that is purely dependent on ios 6 doesn't make sense - particularly as it is still buggy (maps, battery life and wifi inconsistencies). While I agree it is hard to develop across multiple versions and platforms, it should be at a minimum the current version and the prior major version ie 5.1.1. Other than that, it is a great informational resource..

Solar System spectacular. An excellent app. The view of the planets orbiting the sun is great. What I would love is to be able to see the actual planetary positions relative to earth at the current date and at specified future dates. Should be possible. How about it? Guy1

Disappointed. Is my money not as good as the people with newer iPads? You have abandoned people with iPad1, a good developer makes sure apps are backwards compatible because people have paid for your app. I used to think you were one of the good ones, this has left me disappointed..

Super informative and perfectly functional. I was a little hesitant to spend the $15-$20 that this app cost given the single and bad review at that of the newest version... But it showed promise and i went all in with hopes for the best - hopes that materialised upon opening the app. I have it installed on the ipad air. I feel this point is inportant to note as it seems from other reviews that older ipads may not be so happy to run this app. All i can say is: if you have the newest ipad - do not hesitate to buy this - at the price of a book, this is well worth it with the beautiful, animated 3d models and accompanying information. Must have for ipad air.

I love it!. Definitely worth the money!

Completly agree with manu00 and guy33, but.... I'd give both of these apps six stars if it were possible. I realise hardware constraints may make this a problem, but would it be possible to see all moons, the asteroid belt and the outer belt, all at the same time? It'd give a great perspective of our solar system. You have the power to focus on one planet and therefore its moons; it'd be cool if you could just see all moons all the time. Can you also add the orbits of humea, makemake and eris?

Solar system for iPad. My 7 year old son enjoys this app. It gives a good perspective on spatial awareness.

Consistantly crashes in iPad 3, iOS6. The new version of the app consistantly crashes on my 3rd gen iPad running iOS 6.01, which is sad considering this update was supposed to add functionality on that very platform.

Pretty cool app. Definite must for astronomy fans. Good selection of photos and facts. Price point is a touch high but worth it in my view.

Overall, a good buy.. This app is very informative and interactive. I got it for my kids but think I enjoy it more than they do. My only grievance is with Pluto. After all the hype and spectacular wonders we recently saw with the little planet that could, it is not reflected in this app. Please do an update for this and other items recently discovered.

Great app.. Although more expensive than other space apps, its worth the money. Just one thing needed is retina display support.

Good but ridiculously overpriced. This is a good app, but there is nothing overly spectacular about it that it warrants such a hefty price tag. I bought it during a time of extreme boredom. I think $2.99 is a reasonable price for this. And to the gentleman who calls himself 'bigcloits', to think that it's ridiculous for people to complain about the price itself is ridiculous. You can't compare an app to a book. Digital media is always significantly cheaper to produce than physical media. Printing a million copies of a book is bound to be more expensive than distributing a billion digital copies of any software. Of course I'm not taking into consideration marketing, Apple's cut, etc. Furthermore, you have to be in line with your competition and stay within a certain acceptable range that people are willing to pay. Needless to say, a company will (and should) generally charge the maximum amount of money that the general population are willing to pay, without taking advantage of them, so I feel that if they charged $2.99, they would sell far more copies and make more money. I have no doubt that they are using a certain strategy, and that is to charge a large amount and squeeze maximum profits out of the people who are willing to pay this amount, and no doubt when people stop buying, the price will drop, sometimes gradually, sometimes all the way, to target the next group of people. It's not a bad strategy I suppose. I would probably do the same. Just my opinion.

Too expensive for what it is. A nice app but overpriced. I expected a lot more for the price. This is more a short book than an app.

Does not load in iOS 6 3rd gen iPad. Absolutely terrible update to what was previously a good book/application.

Outstanding!. I am most grateful to the creators of this most enjoyable form of education about our home turf. Very well presented astronomical facts.

French title english version. Why do you put a french name for an app that do not have a french version. I'm really mad and I d'ont feel I should pay for that.

Update worked after power-cycle. On my ipad2, running ios6, with more that 4 gigs free, the update suspended at about ten percent done. Thought it was dead, but then I turned ipad off and on again and the update finished. App is good, but I wish the update process was less dramatic.

Book format of the future!. I am not new to Mac, using Mac since I was in high school in 80s, I got ipad mini few days ago, my first ipad, I have to admit that I am late to the party, this book is like a gift to any cosmology lover, it's book format of the new beginning , new era of tablets, whole new way of looking & understanding the things around us, I really admire the people, who thought and execute the idea so brilliantly. I will buy rest of the books too, even though they are not my subject of interest, I have ipad mini , using iOS 6.1, no problem to report. I have a suggestion for you, stop reading my review...just buy it, you will enjoy.

If this doesn. A nearly perfect ebook/app hybrid for the iPad, from the same publisher that did The Elements. Hundreds of amazing photos, good writing, dozens of moon and planet globes to spin and zoom in on, fascinating interactive animations of the solar system. Printed books cannot hold a candle to this. Totally dazzling. Complaints about price are ridiculous. I've paid three times as much for books that offered a tenth as much. I guess there might be room in this ol' world for people who don't really care about astronomy, but only just barely. This stuff is actually out there people, and it's stunning, and this has got to be the most interesting way I've ever known to experience it short of flying out there yourself. It's not IMAX, but it is in your lap and you can touch it. Wow. And it is quite well-written. Not just eye candy. However, despite my enthusiasm, I did knock one star off because the writing is a bit weak in places, in my opinion, and doesn't go quite deep enough. P.S. It just blows my mind that there are people who think iPads are just a fad. They are not in touch with their childlike sense of wonder. Not liking THIS is ... tragic.

Love this app!. I think this app is amazing but I have a few bugs to report. When you press the data button for Wolfram-Alpha on the Kuiper Belt page. It would be better if you added Black Holes, Quasars, and Stars

Please add IOS 5 support. If you had been following the press you would have realized iOS 6 is a step backwards, not forward. Thanks!

Great. Great interface, and great content. Lots of facts and information that the layman would not know. It is helping me to better understand the wonders of the place we live. I personally think it is a steal for what you get, this book in a store would be four times the price and would not have the interactive features. I look forward to learn more as I read on, and to come back often as a reference.

this app alone is worth purchasing an Ipad to experience. Truly impressed - great interactive experience and allows you to appreciate the solar system in a way you could never do with a traditional book. Controlling the perspective & view and speed of the orbits of planets/moons is a amazing. Anyone who loves astronomy & wants to learn more buy this - also great way to introduce to children

Solar System. Very cool app. Excellent quality graphics and LOTS of info. A little pricey, but...

Solar System for iPad.. Absolutely stunning. Positively first rate and worth every penny. I have a working knowledge of astronomy but this app has only served to enrich and increase that knowledge a lot. The author and the developers deserve an award. Worthy of a television project like Cosmos. I am so glad it will take a long while to get through it. I wonder if it will be augmented or receive additions. Thanks for this. An iPad classic not likely to be topped.

One of my favorites. Whether your knowledge of astronomy is beginner or advanced you will enjoy this app. It's worth the premium price and I hope they make one for other fields of astronomy outside the solar system. Would be awesome to have a galactic version that let you explore the milky way and also had multimedia and info on other nearby galaxies.

Great app. Great app...lots of info

Great app. Just one thing I would add to make it even better. It would be nice if it had the remote bottom to view it on Apple TV

It's awesome but…. This app is cool, has great graphics and it has a lot of information but the price is too high

Was good. This app was 5 stars for me. But now I'm only giving it a 2.. It didn't need a net connection before. But now for the wolf gram info it does. If I buy and download a app I want it to work where ever. Not need the net. I would just use safari if I wanted to look this up online. To bad, it was one of my fav apps....

Exactly what I needed!. I have fallen in love with this app. It is very informative and the graphics are very good. I was looking for app that had everything scientists know about the Solar system, I found it! Keep up the good work and I hope to see some cool new feature.

A solid, if somewhat clunky effort. I've spent an hour with this lavish electronic picture book, and I'm largely impressed. It's got a surprising amount of depth, the photos are lovely, and the science is unassailable. What's missing are the user experience niceties that would make it truly feel like an iPad app. You can't swipe from page to page; instead you have to use awkward forward and back buttons. Every time you move from section to section, the entire iPad's screen blacks out for up to a full second; the first time it happened, I assumed the app had crashed. Arrows appear within text blocks, looking clickable, but they seem to serve no purpose. And the typos, ugh. I've already found a couple, and as I said, I've only spent an hour exploring. It doesn't inspire confidence that the app was thoroughly proofed. Add a bit more fluidity and polish -- and especially, get rid of the distracting flashes to black every time users change sections -- and this could be a five-star app.

They had me at the Björk launch track.. Awesome app.

Love it!. Amazing app!!!!!!

A W E S O M E !. If you own an iPad and live on planet Earth... it's a must have!

If Encarta and Wikipedia grew up and had an attractive but simple-minded child. Is this how content that we'd get from Wikipedia would be formatted if it was a paid service? I can not understand the glowing reviews. I really believe they must be from new computer users who missed the first wave of multimedia science content, and I don't mean to be insulting. I paid full retail for this app and do you know what it is at the core? Encarta, maybe Wikipedia? The imagery is of good quality in some places but I expected so much more for what I paid. I promise to come back and eat crow if I am wrong - after a glut of similar apps come out that copy this style. But after experiencing this app for plenty long enough to make an intelligent comment, I can tell you that this is below the level of a grabby ebook and above the level, barely, of Encarta in terms of overall contemporary quality. Also have to wonder if the folks coming on here giving 5 star reviews have just never seen the amount of free content and images that we have access to (by way of tax dollars) from NASA's Web sites and the documentaries that have come out in recent years like The Universe. I wanted to love this. I can't fathom why someone would though, especially given what we already have access to and what I said regarding the Encarta + Wikipedia angle. We've just been down this path so many times before. I feel like my intelligence is being insulted when I am shown the same renderings of Jupiter that have been around for years, literally, and expected to say 'wow' as my eyes glaze over and I hand over 13 dollars. Good luck. AA

Fantastic! Should become part of good educator's toolbox.. This app and "The Elements" are why people should buy iPads. The sense of wonder and delight cannot be stressed enough. Until you actually get the opportunity to try one out for yourself, you truly have no idea just how amazing, interesting and engaging they are. Written in a very accessible manner with a good sense of humor throughout, the information and presentation are top-notch. Do you and any student you know a favor. Buy these apps and be prepared to learn amazing stuff you may never have known in a wonderful and fantastic way.

Bonus trampoline vids.. Five stars...worth the money alone for the chick jumping on the trampoline.

Korean please... please surport Korean language.

Crashes. Crashes on ipad 4.

Wonderful Animations. This app works very well with the IPad and my only complaint is I want more to look at. I really hope "The Universe" is soon to follow. Maybe an add-on that adds a couple hundred more photos and animations. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone interested in astronomy.

Really cool. My wife just said, "I feel like we live in a sci-fi movie now." Very cool. Missing one star only because like some previous reviews I do wish there was some more written content. A fascinating visual 21st century coffee table book but not a fully flushed out text.

Solar System. This is the most awesome app I've downloaded. Comprehensive, beautiful graphics, quality sound, well-organized and just all-around impressive. Well worth the small amount paid. Unbelievable.

Very disappointing..... Refund, please?

Amazing. This app is simply breathtaking. In addition to learning a lot about the solar system, I found this to be delightfully mesmerizing. Keep up the superb work.

This book is so dense it reminds me of a white dwarf. This book has so many wonderful and engaging layers. First there are the great planetary models, the texts is engaging nod fun to read, then, you get supplemental galleries, and the interactive orrery. One of my favorite parts is when you get to peel back the layers of Jupiter. It is so beautiful and intuitive. Well done TouchPress! I hear you have some exciting new titles in the works. I can't wait to see what you do next!

Breathtaking and Worth Every Penny. Being very picky about all elements in an app like this - science, quality and quantity of information and informative, up-to-date graphics - this program hit on every single cylinder. An amazing visual teaching tool for old and young alike. Great wow factor.

Unhappy. Money spent and well worth it; not working with original iPad is downright indignant. This is horrible. FIX IT.

Pure Astronomical Fun. Worth every penny. Full of things to do and see.

Solar System for iPad. What an awesome app. I was hesitate in purchasing it for this price, but it is very informative. It not only showcases the unique power of the iPad's touch interface, but it demonstrates the beauty of our Solar System and all the discoveries that have been made through robotic and man spaceflights. A great app for any student of astronomy. I highly recommend it for the scientist or just those of you who are curious on what else is out there in the solar system.

STUNNING -absolute&completely. When I bought my itouch 4yrs ago I splurged on MYWeather app. I think it cost $12.00. I buy costly apps in the beginning to get a fill for the magic possessed by these devices. I was giddy then like I am now. It's not possible for other companies to improve on this device. The effortless touchscreen input & response is flawless & this app will give u an idea of it's POWER. If ur lucky enough to get an iPad -just buy this app . And you will understand my praise. I work for no one I'm just a customer & the opinions expressed in this review are all MINE.

Wow. Amazing app. I love The Elements and now, The Solar System.

Awesome. Thank you for all the info you put together i enjoyed learning about it :P

Do not update. The recent update will crash on ipad 3

Upgrade. Please modify to work on iPad 1!!!!

Great learning experience. This is a great source for learning at any age, I love the interactive illustration and the overall experience, this app is worth every penny.

Could be better. Was enjoying the app until I ran into the global warming hysterics buried in the info about Venus and Earth.

It's okay, could be better. I like it but this is more like an introductory space app for 5th graders, wish it appealed more to at least the 12th grade level. My dislike: the terrible music included. Sounds like a bad high school band, and not appropriate for the content. How about some Brian Eno?

Splendid. Fascinating! The illustrations, photographs, videos, and the interactive animated model of the solar system provide a captivating look at our world. This app demonstrates that an ebook can be much more than a book read on a screen and be a powerful and entertaining education medium. Everyone will enjoy this app. I am looking forward to future titles. Well worth the modest cost.

Disappointing. The graphics and general effects are outstanding, but I was expecting something on par with the depth of knowledge, striking 3-D photography, and the surprising humor found in this publisher's unparalleled first iPad book: The Elements. The orrery is fascinating, but I didn't feel I learned as much as I had hoped.

Good content, poor UI, overpriced. Title sums it up. The interface is somewhat un-iPad like.

Suffers to be compared. Nice looking, nothing really to deplore, excepting a price too expensive compared to other similar apps... Take a look at Solar Walk for example... Even if less detailed I think I prefer this last one : more intuitive and simple interface, real 3D with red-blue glasses, etc... For less than three bucks.

If you are curious about your world.... You will love this. As a teacher of young children, and as an adult who never outgrew the wonder and "magic" that seems to be everywhere...this book is absolutely wonderful. With pictures to can manipulate...diagrams that come to life...and concepts once too complex to convey to anyone easily--whether young or old--this book is a grand gift. It is set up somewhat similarly to Elements...another astonishing book available on iTunes...and though it might not be quite as extensive, it is at least as fascinating and fun to explore. The diversity of media this book includes is clearly there with purpose, and each of the diagrams or sequences are clearly selected not mere to wow you, but to truly assist in conveying meaning and conceptual understanding. Take for example the case of the moon's effect on tides. Instead of merely explaining it, you are given a three dimensional representation that shows the moon orbiting the earth...with exaggerated effects on the oceans shown. These kinds of innovative inclusions are found through this book. My highest recommendation goes to this effort and I can only hope more like it might be on the way. To the publisher...please know in advance that I would gladly pay more for expansions to this, or toward other books which perhaps delve deeper. In the mean time, what you've presented here, already, is truly wonderful. Thank you. Mark Morgan

Needs lots of work. Love the idea, the ani ated solar system is very cool. But, hello did the app developers even sit down for 5 minutes and actually interact with it? My main peeve so far is that in the orrery you have a slider which most of the time doesn't care that you are trying to move the slider. It is hit or miss trying to slide it with any kind of accuracy, and why exactly doesn't it START at 1 second = 1 second? An input field for the time scale would have been nice since you can drag the slider to a given value, but when you take your finger away it is so twitchy that it bounces to a higher or slower scale. Clearly the developers have a lack of atention to detail which is astounding given the price of the app. Even more amazing considering the math involved in it. Please fix this.

Crashes on iPad 3. The update won't run on my iPad 3.
