Fun with a flaw. Nice little story for kids, fun interactivity. The misspelling of the word "tea" on page 2 is not acceptable, though. Books for kids just learning to read should be sure to have correct spelling. Other than that, great app!

Ads are a nuisance, poor grammar. For anyone thinking about downloading this app, it is a collection of books, one of which is free (the Christmas tale). As interactive stories go, it's okay. I'd say for a freebie it's pretty good, EXCEPT that there are ads on every page. Not only is it distracting, but I'm concerned that my 3-year old will accidentally sign me up for a credit card. I'm more concerned that he'll throw a screaming fit when he touches the ad and the story disappears for a webpage of a sponsor. In my experience I've not encountered ads in a free children's app. As for the quality of the writing, there are grammatical errors that are easy to spot, and a real clinker that has Santa riding his "sledge" across the night sky....I kid you not, it actually says "sledge." And lest you think it's only a typo, the narrator actually reads "sledge" out loud in a very proper English accent! Hilarious! If this is the quality I can expect from the other stories, there's no way I am buying any of them. And, because of the ads on every page of the free sample book, I'm deleting this app. "Lady bug's bookshelf" is a similar app, but the free book is ad-free, and the other stories are charming and well written.

There are books and then there are experiences.... Absolutely loved this!! Kids and parents will LOVE this. Please create more for other holidays. Winner!

fun. downloaded the iphone and ipad versions and both are great. the big screen is more fun but nice how it is still interesting for kids on the iPhone 'small' screen. I loved it and have to admit it was fun to read.

Very cute and lots of interaction. Really cute and fun for children to hit all the items on the page to see what they do. Would like to see a little longer story in the future. I could see these really taking off as a pay item as a library of them builds. Great job!

Good app when it works :(. Most of the time this app won't load. I'll hear sound but no picture. I have to open and close it several times before it loads correctly. Think I might just delete it instead of messing with it. Too bad.

Disappointing Update. This app was very good when it was a free app. Now the developers have changed the way the app functions. For those of you with older children, it's not so much a problem, but for those of us with 2 year olds, it has made it problematic to use. I don't mind the developers wanting to make some money, I would gladly pay for the app in it's previous incarnation, but now when you open the app, it presents you with a intro of characters while it loads up it's new library bookshelf-life store interface. Once that opens, you need to touch the book that you want to read amongst all the others that are for sale (it is at the top of the bookshelf). This isn't very helpful for small children who tend to touch many places on the screen. I'm sure in time he would learn, but I've downgraded the app back to the previous version in order to avoid this new change. Also, if your child accidentally touches the home button and you return to the story, you need to start all over from the beginning load up screen. Not a very good update at all.

Wow. This is one of the amazing interactive book i ever saw, sever cool interaction in every page, my 4.5 years old son just love it, he wants to read it again before bedtime.

Don't update. I Just deleted all of this developer's apps from my iPad and iPhone. I will never purchase nor download anything from this developer again. I understand that developers need to use ads to generate income and have no problem with that practice. But not disclosing that each page will have a very obtrusive banner ad and that the user will have the developer's catalog of books pretty much shoved into his or her face before being able to read the story are tactics that reek of the developer's contempt for its customers.

Deluxe Story. great fun app for kids of all ages. The Tee misspelling one reviewer referred to, that another reviewer could not find, is on the second page when you select the tea cup on the stool next to Santa.

Kids loved it!. Great free app. My kids loved it. The color is great and the words light up as they are being read which is great for beginning readers.

It used to be cool. Not sure what's wrong, but the section that allows you to record your voice by either Santa or Mrs Claus... No longer works. My son absolutely loves that part. But since it no longer works... Not so much. We've tried deleting an downloading again and it didn't fix.

It's hard to punish a dev with a bad review when an app is free.. Fact is, this app is a very nice effort for the younger children, but the real fact is, only the very young will stand for it more than once or twice. I downloaded it, read it, TWICE, and deleted it after writing this review. For me, I need space on my app list. Only room for 220 of the best , most worthy to keep apps. In short, I cannot say anything bad, except that it is very limited in usefulness.

Very cool.... My kids enjoyed the book as it read to them...very interactive and fun. Could have been a little longer tho. To the person who stated page 2 had the word "tea" mis-spelled...I am not sure what book you were writing a review on but this book didn't have the word "tea" on any page in this book.

Christmas Tale. Don't upgrade this app if you have the original free version with no ads!! We upgraded our original version and now have an annoying ad banner across the bottom pages of the book. Kids keep hitting the banner and jumping to ads. Terrible. Too bad because this was one of our favorite books to read. Deleting it now.

The worst app. I deleted this horrible app it kept freezing and left a bug on phone I would not recommend it to anyone it has billions of pop up ads and always saids u will have the best game if u get full version but will be a rude awakening if full version is bought 3.99 for the absolute worst game don't be ripped off buy this horrid game!

Don't Update!!!. I am an English teacher for toddlers. I used this book every day in my lessons around Christmas time last year and the kids loved it! I was very pleased with this app. I would have gladly paid for it, but it was free! I recommended it to my fellow teachers and those with iPhones or iPads downloaded it and used it in their classes as well. This morning I updated this app (two new pages they advertised - Yay!) and when I turned it on there was a long intro with other books to buy, which will surely waste time every time I open this app in my lesson. Worse than that, there is a big fat advertisement bar right in the middle at the bottom of the screen! I can't remove it, and it says I have to pay for the ad-free option. This irritates me, but as I said I like the app so I will gladly pay for the ad-free version... except that when I click on the bar to pay for the upgrade, the app crashes EVERY TIME. You have turned an awesome app into a dud. Shame on you. For those of you using the old version, DON'T UPDATE!!!

Don't buy it or anything by this. I purchased the .99 cent version of this book so that it won't display ads. My special needs son is really into books on the iPad lately. Well now every time he clicks on this book to read it, it brings up all of the other books this app developer sells and gives you the option to buy those too. What a waste! My son does not know how to navigate through the crap and ads to get to the app that we actually paid for. I'm ticked and I'd like the developer to fix this! Waste of money.

Terrible update!. My kids used to love this. Today an "update" downloaded. Now it shows up in a collection of stories, which is really just a big ad to try to sell more. Also, the story itself is filled with ads that are placed horribly so the kids are always launching the ads when trying to navigate the story. Awful decision!

Ads are annoying!!. When we first downloaded this app sometime last year it was free and didn't have any ads which was great for our then 1 year old. Somewhere along the way they introduced big ads at the bottom which our son hits EVERY SINGLE TIME now. Ads in a kids book are stupid and I refuse to pay to remove the ads now (the book isn't that good anyway).

Good app, gone bad with ads!. My 2 year old loved this app, now she keeps clicking on the ads on the bottom instead of objects on the screen. When she accidentally clicks an ad, it automatically brings up Safari. Then, she wants to see the story again. When I click back to the story, it starts over again!!! This is bad!

Thumbs down. Hate the new updated version. There is no longer a Read It Myself option on the first screen. And when you open the app it goes to a list of the seller's books and then you have to hit the one you want. My two year old used to be able to do this all on her own on the original version. Big disappointment.

just in time. I just love this book, my son wants to read again and again , the interactions are vey good and intuitive. Can wait for the next book.

Christmas tale. The book and illustrations are wonderful. My grandchildren love the book but your new version keeps showing books for sale and for non readers its too tempting to hit keys and they get frustrated when they can't open new books. The old version was much cleaner and easier to use for toddlers. Get rid of the ads which even show up on the paid versions of the book!

Have to pay again?. My toddler loves this book. She has played with it regularly since last Christmas when i purchased it. You can imagine how disappointed i was when after i downloaded the recent update, i had advertising content. To remove the ads, i have to pay again. Very poor customer relations management. I would have rated this a 4 otherwise. Buyers beware!

Best eBook. All eBooks should be like this!!! This book has the best feature set from all the books I found so far. Where can I get more?

Deleted after recent "update". That book was ok for being free. And we went through it couple times a week. But after recent "update", which did nothing but filled it with giant ADs that cover 1/3 of the page, I have deleted it from my device. I'm sure that all the people who downloaded the recent update felt tricked. I don't like that business approach and will never buy anything from this developer. This book is way too lame for being a paid application, the graphic is very primitive and rough.

Awesome app. This app is awesome I really don't care about ads and they never pop up for me. You have to think about it's a great offer and it's free and of course it's totally awesome

Good stuff. The price is tough to argue with. I do wish "tea" was spelled right on page 2 though. With kids learning to read, I'd rather not show them "cookies and tee"... Otherwise very good.

Annoying, but you may like it. I agreed with most of the one-star reviewers. Pictures are okay, the female reader with the British accent is an attempt to "class it up," although she comes across as condescending. Free, with ads, but as anyone with small children knows, every other tap by the 2-year old is on the ad. Certainly can't complain about the ads in a free app, but this one ain't for me... (btw, fix that word "deers." Supposed to rhyme with "cheer," and in English, the plural is the same as the singular form!) ...Deleted

Don't like the update. I got this app back in November and at that time the story was free. Which was why I got this app in the first place. I enjoy Christmas and like to read stories to my kids. But now you have to pay for the story. That's so wrong. It's the same story they had before but now it's $1.99. If I had known that it wasn't free anymore than I wouldn't have gotten the app. I don't mind paying for apps but to take away a full story that was free last month is just wrong and greedy.

Sweet App, Please Correct the Spelling!. As noted by others, please correctly spell "tea" on the second page. Currently, it is misspelled as t-e-e. I tried to contact developers via the Developer Web Site and App Support links at the left, but both require FLASH, which everyone should know by now is not supported on the iPad. Pretty funny. Otherwise, great app. Make the fix and we look forward to new titles.

Love, love, love it!. My son 2 year old son loves story time. This app allows my son to interact with the story. The special effects were fun and he enjoyed them. I even let him turn the pages by himself! Overall, I think this app is perfect for him.

Great experience. Great little free app. My son's favorite at the moment. The navigation is great. When you have a 2-year old that wants to touch everything, it always annoys me when the page flips by accident. But that problem doesn't exist in this book, because of the arrows on the sides. Looking forward to the next app.

Sinister?. There was an ad at the bottom of the screen for a horror movie called "Sinster." It showed a woman running her hand along a bloody wall and a scary monster face in he blood. My 3 yr old will be upset that I'm removing the app, but this type of ad is terribly inappropriate and would cause nightmares.

Awesome. I love this app because I do not have to read it to my little sister I just have it read to her and she loves this story because you can interact with it.

Get This App!. It's amazing what you stumble upon whilst searching for something else. This interactive storybook is adorable and will please your child or your inner child on many levels. Kudos to the developers!

Great tools!. I think this is very useful for kids that are learning English. It not only has pictures, also reads story out. My kids love it.

Not to bad, and it's free. OK, so this app is free, and you have to give it high marks on that point. It has the basic graphics and interactions I like to see in a lot of books. For instance the christmas present on the first page starts to swing back and forth when you tilt your iPad Most of the interactions are canned, so you can click on a spot and some sort of interaction happens. Unfortunately, most of them are just a single behavior and not really interactive - but hey again this is free. As an adult I think the book is pretty good. The reason for my 3 rating instead of a 4 is that my kids really show no interest in this book at all. Given a choice they would choose many other books.

Spelling mistake. 'tea' is spelt incorrectly on page 2. Not good when a 6yo points out spelling mistakes....

Rubbish..... Ads Ads and more Ads. I deleted after about ten seconds... One free book which has ads constantly on the screen and arrow buttons conveniently placed right beside the ads, one millimeter too close and your into ads and god knows what the kids will be looking at. Don't bother!!

What the hell?. I would say its a great product except that the first thing my kids notice on the page is the ad for Playboy then clicked on it.

We will not use this app. The graphics and audio is of low quality. Our kids started reading/listening to the story but lost quickly interest: the quality of the graphics and the audio quality is simply not there. Sorry

Great app, buts the ads are incredibly inappropriate. I am surprised an app for children contains explicit ads. I realize free apps have ads but shouldn't they be age appropriate? Very graphic and nasty ads accompany this app. Bummer. Love the storybooks but we will wait to see if the ads are managed better before using this.

Annoying ads. Downloaded the original free app. It was great. There were no ads with the original but after an update, the ads appeared! Now the ads are just annoying and takes away from this otherwise good app.

Beware Grammatical Errors. My kids, ages 3 and 5, love the interactivity of TabTales, but there are errors in each book. For example, Santa drives a "sledge" in this book. In general, fun and interactive, but the writing is sub-par.

Awful interface. Hard to complain because it's free. Nice drawings, nice storyteller voice. But usability is atrocious. For instance you cannot turn pages. Menu is nearly unfindable. Etc. It appears they never looked at how other apps behave.

Santa adds bad call. The book is cute but the adds r in the way. If u buy it to remove the adds u only get 1 reading without adds. What a rip - off !!!

Spelling. It is completely unacceptable to spell words wrong in a children's book. When you tap the mug on page two, the narrator announces that it is tea, but the word that appears is misspelled "tee"! This needs to be fixed immediately.

Super Santa book. My 3 yr old loves this book and has come to me four times today to watch it.

Ruined by Latest Update. Paid for ad free version but the length and intrusiveness of the introduction is/was a mistake. Takes too long to get to the story. My kid can't get to the story without clicking links which lead him out of the app. Doesn't even bother with it anymore.

BAH Humbug. This does not even rate a one. The keyboard comes out while the story is reading. I for one am through with these Xmas apps that must not of been tested B4 release. Not too mention the number of ads that you have too fight your way through.

We love this app. My kids love this app & how it interacts with them. My 2 year old is actually learning site words from this app! Great choice!!
