A little slow when loading Gatherer text, but A++++. As a judge, I love this app! It's very slow when loading the Gatherer text, and I REALLY REALLY wish that I could bookmark certain rules, for quick & easy access. Otherwise, amazing & useful so! keep it up!

Extensive and highly useful. The one thing I wish worked differently almost every time I use it would be the “text” card search. It would be nice if it would match individual terms separately instead of as a whole phrase. Even considering that,I would buy it again.

Very helpful. I’ve been playing Magic for a little over a month now, and this guide has helped me better understand this very very complex card game. The biggest weakness of this guide possesses, for me at least, is being new to this game and not knowing where to find the hundred percent clarification on every rule in the game. I’m glad I bought this though, worth recommending for sure.

My go to!. I’ve been playing mtg since the Return to Ravnica block and shortly after getting involved with the game I’ve always wanted to know how interactions worked with cards. This app has been a life saver when it comes to complicated scenarios. Having the rulings and the literal rule book at the touch of a finger is so useful. I keep this with me whenever I go to events and even casual games of Commander(because that’s where it’s really needed). Love the content and it’s so worth the price[just like mtg trades!]

Best Magic Rules & Lookup app Ever. This is the best source for judges and casual players & store owners. I can't even begin to explain how useful it is to be able to do keyword & phrase search both cards and comp rules. I have used this app since it was originally made and have purchased it for every account I own and for my business. Updates come the second there is a new set or rules change.

Best MTG resource I've seen or used. This app is great. It has many features that other apps do not have. I recently became a MTG judge and use this app constantly whilst studying and still use it daily. Despite the great things about the app, there are some small quality of life upgrades I would like to see. First, I would like to see more advanced search options; specifically the ability to filter by color, type, cmc, etc. I love how i can search the text and rulings, but sometimes I just want to browse blue cards with cmc 2. Second, I would like to be able to see how many tickets a card is worth on average on MTGO. Lastly, I would like to know whether or not a card is included on the reserved list in addition to its format legalities at the bottom of the relevant card's information page. In conclusion, this app is a top-rate app for all involved with MTG, the information is presented in a manner which makes it easily accessible and understood to both brand new players and experienced players. I have recommended this app to friends and will continue to do so.

Best MTG iOS App. What more to say? For all your non-life counter/game tracking needs, it doesn’t get better than MTG Guide. Its most useful features I’ve found to be the comp. rules and the Gatherer rules, which together cover nearly any rules or interaction questions you might have, even when you’re playing Ice Cauldron aggro. The only shortcomings of MTG Guide is with its card search feature. It’s not that it isn’t powerful, accurate, or comprehensive: it’s somewhat limited with the search criteria available. Further, if the search turns up many hits, the results list is truncated after a certain number of entries. The above issues are annoying but not frustrating, and they don’t diminish the overall utility of this app. It’s always up to date with the latest set releases, bannings, and rules changes. It even has art for each printing of a card and its associated monetary value. If you’re at all a “serious” MTG player (liberally interpreted), you should strongly consider getting this app, unless you’re a level infinity judge. If you were I’d guess you’d just planeswalk or something whenever someone had a rules question.

Great app. This app is a great aide when I’m judging - having quick access to all the rules docs and oracle text is a really helpful. It’s easier to use than any others I’ve seen. Highly recommend to anyone judging, or who wants to have quick access to the rules documents.

Best MtG Rules & Judging App. TL;DR: Buy this app and MtG Trades (Same developer). Best money I've ever spent. Are you a judge? You need this app. It is the best tool I've ever used hands down. Are you the friend group's unofficial judge? This app is your best friend. It has everything you could want on more. If this app could do pairings I honest think this would be an all in one tournament tool. Unfortunately it only has every rulebook, tons of errata and reference materials, and a bunch of helpful tools for anyone who has ever judged in any capacity.

Card Interface. Would love to be able to swipe through the card database without having to back out of the card details to the card index. Also, the expansion’s card image always open at the top with the details following would be ideal.

Excellent organization!. This app is fantastic. Always has the latest sets ASAP, sets are organized chronologically by block, and if a card has been reprinted you can look at one version and get access to all versions. Pricing (including foils!) is from TCGPlayer and is separate for each printing. I only wish I could sort each set by price :)

Needs Gatherer Style Filtering. Almost perfect. Simple searching for cards while offline is amazing. The searchable rule book is also great as well. Still needs a better filtering system. Currently can't filter by color or types. Also doesn't support multiple filters. I.E. like Gatherer.

MTG card searching made easy. This is literally the best MTG app on the market, updated regularly, performs very well, easy to use; what more could you want from something you paid for? Worth every cent!

My Go-To. Update 2: Still waiting for filters! Also how about giving us the ability to click on a card & get full screen images. Every time I use the app to search a card up for somebody, be it price, text, or rules, they always try to zoom the picture in, which obviously they can’t. (iPhone 7+). Also how about moving cards to the top, followed by text-description, then rulings. Another suggestion - Give us the option to choose settings “always display card art” “display original/newest card art/current filter art” *********************** Update: App is still good, it still needs search filters, and I’m still salty it doesn’t have them! MTG Trades & this app should probably be 1 & the same app. They are very similar & it seems this app trades off the list management for rules. I own both & use this one 99% of the time. Price wise, both apps in one @ this price point is good. This price on each, not so much. I do feel it’s one of the better MTG apps for card & rule searches. ************************ I've been using this app since I came back to MTG, sometime during Theros. This is my goto. Quick & easy card search, TCG prices, viewing different sets & art and information on which formats the card is approved or banned in. Very helpful. Only wish we had 2 improvements. 1) Searching with filters. 2) displaying full-screen image of the card art, maybe even ability to further zoom in.

A Judge’s Best Friend. This app is a fantastic tool for judges new or seasoned. The card database is comprehensive and frequently updated, the rules are easy to read and search, there’s no unnecessary UI to manage. Perfect for judges who are trying to make fast rulings. The draft script with timers is just the icing on the cake. As a new judge this app has improved my draft running abilities greatly. Cannot recommend enough!

Better than the Official. I tried Toolbox and this app is better 1000%!!! I absolutely love this app and its counterpart (Trades). Between the two of them, I have easily the best card search and easy access to prices. A+++ and I cannot recommend this app enough!

Phenomenal Resource. I use this app all of the time and am always great full I spent the money for it. There aren’t many OS updates but when they are made the entire experience is improved.

An Outstanding App. It’s pretty much what I use when referring to rules or when I need some clarification on a card in a time of need. Strongly recommend this app as it also updates on a regular basis.

Card search is lame. The ruling aspects of this app are good. But for the price you pay for this app the search interface of this app is sad. You're limited to a simple word search on text card name or ruling only. There is no way to select by manna type or card type or cost, etc. not to mention there is scant information on the final list of cards that result from the search. This prevents the app from being a more complete magic the gathering tool.

Wow. This is much more useful than I originally thought. There are so many rules that I never realized. I thought it was just the rules but the list of cards and what expansion they come from is an added bonus. It also looks like they update it every so often so that’s cool. Get this if you are into MTG.

Best App. I’ve used this app for over 3 years now and it is so helpful for deckbuilding and card pricing. Not to mention when ever someone says they can’t remember what a card is but they can remember key words. Searching by text is so insanely nice.

Best MTG Rules App On iOS. MTG Guide has a snappy, no-frills UI that makes navigation fast and easy whether you are looking for oracle text or an infraction. It includes a card database with the expected oracle text as well as rulings, printings, and legality. It also includes the expected Comp Rules, MTR, and IPG (including JAR). The Comp Rules are nicely hyperlinked with section references and the built-in search functions let you not only search for matches within the rules text but also do a glossary match that can quickly let you find important sections and related concepts. All of the documents can be easily navigated between via the bottom menu, and your location in a document is not lost as you swap between them making it easy to check complicated interactions. Finally, there are included basic Draft timers and deck-check tools. Overall, this app has everything you need to take judge calls or refresh yourself on ropes without becoming bogged down in excess “features”, information, or graphics. The one area that I would love to see more added would be via the integration of the annotated versions of the IPG and MTR as those can be useful references to have on hand; although I am unsure as to whether the authors of those permit reproduction in an app such as this.

Fantastic App. Extraordinarily convenient to find whatever mtg card you’re looking for with a very easy-to-use search function. However, I hope in future updates they can add the following features: Language patches for different language printings of cards. Ability to search by converted mana cost, which is very helpful when you remember what card does but don’t remember its name.

Perfect app for rules and judging!. Every feature and layout is perfect for quick and flawless performance as a judging aid and research tool for Magic: the Gathering. This specific app is actually a reason I continue to use iOS devices!

Fantastic app for card references and rulings. Fantastic app for looking up the oracle text of cards and looking up rulings. The only thing I wish it would tell you is whether or not a card is on the Reserved List when you look it up.

Worth the Money. This program is cheap, is kept up to date in an extremely timely manner, is full of information, works and is constantly improved. What more can you ask for in a program?

Best Mtg App Ever (user since ‘14). I’ve been using this app for years on and off, even when I haven’t been actively playing magic, and I’m still very satisfied with it. For each card, they show the average price for it on tcgplayer, including the different printings and variants for each card. They have every card to date, and actively update the database when the newest sets and secret lair drops are released. Under each card they have the oracle text and its legality across multiple formats. It also has the rule book included! This app is a great time killer, and it runs a lot more smooth than tcgplayer’s app. I would highly recommend this app to any magic player. You need it!

Excellent Reference App. While I was studying to become a judge, and while judging, I have found this app to be a powerful resource for oracle wordings, rulings, and rules guidance. It’s very helpful to have a card and rules database stored locally instead of needing to access a website or API.

Great for on-the-go reference!. I really like this app, and it provides a great way to look through the various cards in each set and quickly see which cards have specific rulings. The apps is updated on a regular basis with the latest Oracle updates and card rulings, and it’s my go-to app to use as a reference while waiting for pre-releases to start at my LGS. My only complaint is that you can’t limit searches to within a single set or format, it appears to be an all-or-nothing search through the entire card database. It would also be nice if there was a way to filter out cards that are marked as having specific rulings when it’s just the generic rulings text for a mechanic specific to that set. I’m definitely more interested in knowing which cards have errata or extra information. Overall it’s a great app, though, and I highly recommend it!

A must-have for any MTG player!. Love this app. I use it all the time. Being able to search the rules is tremendously helpful, along with getting to read all the rulings on individual cards.

THE app you need for Magic rules.. If you have a friend who likes to play foreign cards in their commander deck (I am that friend) or just like to figure out the answers to complex rules interaction there is no better app out there. Sometimes you just can’t remember quite what a card does and you’ll have to look it up. This app is perfect.

As a Magic Judge, this is the App I use. I’m a Magic judge, and this is my go to app for rules, Oracle text and card rulings. It keeps all of the cards, the comprehensive rules and tournament guidelines all in one place and searchable. If this is what I’m using when judging events, why aren’t you using it? The database is updated frequently and is always up to date.

Every serious MTG player needs this. This app contains everything you need to know about competitive Magic is a easy to use format.

Thorough. All the rules. All the cards. Updates with each release. Search all cards, or a specific expansion. Search title or rules text. I like to browse for cards with a lot of card specific rulings.

Always updated. The database and app are constantly kept up to date. I have used it for years and it has never been out of date. The info on the newest sets are ALWAYS available before they are released.

My go to pricing app. Mostly all positive thoughts on this app. Simple, links right over to tcg or even the companion rules app easily. There’s not much more to want. Really just two things. The ability to actually copy the card photo to paste it in a note or text would be very helpful. Like you can select it, and you can choose copy, but it’s not on your clipboard. Secondly, filters. Or at least the ability to search for a card name while in a specific set. Put those features in and it’s 5 stars.

Best Magic App for Rules and Judges. Easy access to all cards, errata, rulings, comprehensive rules, and everything. You name it, this app has it. It’s not there for collating your collection or deck building, but for those interested in the nuts and bolts and details of the game, there’s nothing like it!

Solid purchase. App is quick, streamlined. Updates come within 24 hrs of WOTC document updates (which is a HUGE advantage over similar apps). Missing features. Brawl is missing as a format, ability to search or sort by any criteria other than card name or oracle text absent. No support for multiple windows or slide over in iPad OS, no ability to favorite cards or formats or sets. Zero response or acknowledgement from the developer about even considering any of these features

Exactly what every MtG player needs. I’ve been using this app for at least a year and it has never failed to provide me with information quickly without needing to connect to the internet (with the exception of updates). I’m impressed that the updates come whenever there is a new product from WOC. The search “text” option is nice to search for cards with particular abilities. The rules section helps clarify actions during play. Overall, a nice reference during games and for building decks.

Use this more than any other Magic app!. Whether you’re a judge, an aspiring judge, or just a player, this app is the most useful I’ve found. It contains all the current Oracle text and has a great search function for the rules and is updated regularly! Best purchase I’ve made!

Best MTG companion app. This app is the best way to search for any magic card, Oracle text, rulings, etc that you could think of. It also has a draft caller and lifepad, but I mainly use it to look things up. Very easy interface where you can limit your search to particular sets. So worth the cost.

Always improving. I like that the cards now have a market price rather than just pulling from tcg player prices. You can’t find a better app for pricing or rulings. This app has continuous updates so you always know the updated rulings, bannings/unbannings and newest cards as soon as they come out. Best App for Judges Easily. This app is awesome, particularly for judges. It has complete offline oracle with FAQ entries, searchable by set (including promos like duel decks), name, text, collector number etc so it is easy to look up foreign cards. It has full MTR and IPG, database updates are incredibly fast as new sets come out. The interface is intuitive and the developer has been incredibly supportive and receptive of feedback. The comp rules is fully searchable and hyperlinked. It has all the reference resources we need when judging tournaments.

Finally! IMO the BEST MTG app. I've been looking for something like this for ages! There are other rules apps out there, but this one has a great search function and EVERYTHING is in one spot! No using 3 apps to check some rule on a card, then looking up misc card rulings... then some timing trick... IMO best MTG rules app out there!

A brilliant resource. I don't know how they do it, but they keep updating and keeping all of we Magic enthusiasts up to date on rulings, interactions and Oracle updates. No judge, no high level player and no collector should be without this guide. Addendum: apparently they achieve this standard of excellence through consistent hard work. Having never achieved this myself as a devotee of laziness, I am in awe.

Best MTG resource, and I've bought many. I get updates on the current products available to purchase through this apps version updates faster than I do online. Uncluttered, fast, smooth, does exactly what it needs to. I use this in mobile more than I use Gatherer. Still looking for an app that lets me do Advanced Searches better than Gatherer in a browser, but until then, I've never looked for another.

Invaluable resource. I always play with my iPod at my side now - for the TCG Deck Builder, but primarily for this app. Very, very helpful for clarifying ambiguities in card or rules text. It's helped resolve a lot of discussions about what certain cards are supposed to do in unique situations. Best of all, the entire rules database is at your fingertips, with or without an internet connection. An invaluable resource for serious Magic players!

In addition, it doesn't require an internet connection to get card ruilings. Very handy when you're playing somewhere without wi-fi. To those complaining about the lack of artwork. It's there, just tap on a set when you're looking at a card. (does require internet though)

The only one. We can't say there are many alternatives on the AppStore, but there is a reason for that: this app has it all. Smooth, great design by iOS standards, it is functional and easy to find anything in the CR, the MTR or just offline Gatherer info on any card ever printed (besides the art that needs Internet connection). What an app. Highly recommended, well worth the money.

Works great for rules lookup, needs card graphics. Overall this app is great. Works well for looking up a keyword during play and the rules search helps you find relevant sections quickly. The way the rules are linked from the glossary is particularly neat. It desperately needs the card art for the card reference though. Lots of other apps offer that (orcish librarian does it and is free with ads) and I find it a lot less pleasing to browse cards without some graphics. I'm sure there must be intellectual property issues but since the other apps exist I would urge mtg guide to get art ASAP. It would let me switch to only one iOS app for all my mtg needs.

Perfect Magic App. Mtg Guide has everything any magic player needs, from the casual player who wants to see the art or know the price of that rare judge promo to the high level judge who needs the exact wording of the madness mechanic in seconds. The search engine for ruling is powerful, the card and document databases are always up to date. It has always improved through the years and support is almost live if you have questions. I can't believe that I paid so little money so long ago to get all that.

Best App on iOS for any Magic Judge. This app has almost everything a Judge would need. With a full offline card database (including Oracle text), CR, MTR, IPG/JAR (in an easy to reference format), and even a Decklist counter, this app is worth every penny spent. The documents are even updated live through the app.

Rare symbols. There should be a system to display how rare a card is example: common or uncommon, rare or mythic. This is the only negative reaction I had towards this app. Besides that I believe it's the best mtg app on the marketplace.

Great app. Great app, best way for me all to look at cards. I just wish I could see cards in a set rarity inside the app. Maybe some look up kind of command so i can try to find cards for a deck. Like if i wanted red 1 drops can i see all of those.

Awesome app for judging.. I use this app every event I judge. My only criticism is that there's no way to hide Gatherer rulings, which I can't let players see when I show them Oracle text at Comp REL.
