Must-have for any birder. BirdsEye is critical for any birder, and particularly state and county listers and guides. I recommend this app to everyone. Only complaint is that species maps don’t always match up to recent sightings on the actual eBird website... sometimes this can be extremely annoying.

Handy but needs update. This app is a useful tool for bird funding but is badly out of date. It does not include eBird taxonomy updates and doesn't seem to properly sync with my eBird life list. Questions posted to their support forum go unanswered. I know this is not a big moneymaker but if they're charging $20/year they should make periodic updates.

Great app for birders. I especially like the fact that it will show me recent sitings near your current location. Very useful when traveling. Field guide can be nice if not as sophisticated as some apps but I find the location parts most valuable.

Poor follow through on app bug. I had high hopes for this app. The concept is great. However, on a trip to South America I found that when doing a smart search and selecting yellow as a search criteria, no species were exhibited. I reported this the the developers and was informed that it was a problem in the software. This was back in December. After returning to the U.S., I found that the same issue was present when using the app in the Northwest. After communicating with the developers, I was told the problem was being worked on and that they would let me know when is was resolved. That was over a month ago, and I have received no update since then, and to the best of my knowledge, the problem still exists.

Drives me crazy. Generally like this app but it is so buggy I can’t use it half the time. Paid for world birds but rarely can I get it. It helps to close all other apps on the phone but doesn’t solve it. No support. Have sent multiple requests for help through app. No response. Makes me sad. General capabilities are good if you can get it to work.

Buggy abandonware. Last update was over 3 years ago, and it shows. The app is buggy, not accurate, looks dated, and costs too much when you take into account it has been this long between updates. The eBird app does MOST of what this app does for FREE…and does those things correctly. After using it for a bit, I find this app’s workflows to be very unintuitive. And there are way too many un-ending spinners. It seems to always want to download sightings, rather than simply updating them…and this process takes a minute or two every few times you open the app. For $60/year, I need to see the developer cares about the app with regular updates and customer support responses rather than just sitting back and collecting royalties.

Tech issues after membership purchase. After spending $14 dollars on the North American membership and the Eastern North American package (I should’ve just gotten the membership, whoops), I ran into a frustrating number of tech issues. I was only able to solve them by reading through the support FAQ, which is an annoying amount of work for such an expensive app. First, the app kept telling me that I was viewing a “free preview”, which wasn’t true. Also, I couldn’t click on the buttons on the bottom of the page because of the green banner advertising other memberships for purchase. After reading the support FAQ, I had to change my iPhone app settings and then “restore purchases” in the app itself. I had no issues downloading data for offline use, although it took about 10 minutes. I’ll update this review as I get to use the app more in the field.

Does things the eBird app doesn’t and mostly works well. I’ve used this app since before the eBird app came out. I still find it essential for searching eBird observations that are county-specific and rare & notable observations throughout a large area. The eBird app only allows a 30-mile radius so it’s frustrating when you are planning a road trip and you’re not within 30 miles of your destination. Also, BirdsEye shows checklist comments which is essential for access and specific location of target birds. The app has been quite slow to load in the last few months but still works if you are patient. In short, this is a very useful app that i hope will continue b being updated and improved and i plan to keep using.

Cool tool. This app conveniently pulls together all of the eBird information you would want, allowing you to review what has been seen in the field recently so that you can prepare an outing. You can connect to eBird so that your life list is uploaded which allows the app to present your needs list for a given area. Multiple field photos are great as well as the songs and calls making it a great tool to assist with difficult identification. Love this app!

Full time wanderer. I have lived in a tiny camper for over 4 years and wander this gorgeous country full time often camping off grid. I follow the birds. Everywhere I go I use this app to find the birds in the area and plan my birding. It lets me know what birds I’ve not seen or what is notable or rare in the area. It uses EBird and my life list to figure it all out. I recommend it to birders I meet all the time.

Awesome tool. This app has been developed with the border in mind, and it’s the best way I know to enter observations to eBird. I even use it over eBird a computer interface when I’m home! Viewing eBird lists is broken. First of all, the ability to view eBird lists when looking at the reported birds near me, is completely broken. It used to work fine but no longer does. For such a pricey app as this (you have to pay monthly as a subscriber just in order to use the app within your region - which is another expense), I expect the functionality of viewing eBird reports to be near flawless! Please please fix this major issue. I'll reevaluate my rating when fixed.

More issues over time. There are as many great things about this app as there are bad things. I’ve been paying for the world subscription for several years, yet sometimes when I try to pull up a species account it states that I need to subscribe. Many of the species have top-notch photos, while others have lower quality photos. When you dig into things a bit, one of the reasons for this becomes apparent - a handful of photographers screw with the ratings so excellent photos that are not theirs are scored lower. This is most apparent with many of the Australian species - the same 2-3 photographers are represented across many of the species from this continent. While the information available in this app is robust, loading time is an issue. For example, when one attempts to load a checklist via a species featured in the rare birds section, it can take up to a minute to load the checklist. It’s been like this for at least two years. And no, this isn’t an issue with my phone - I’ve replicated this issue on other phones. Next, getting any sort of response from people who run the app is impossible. I’ve never gotten a response from them (although if BirdsEye has the same owner it had 10 years, this is not surprising). Lastly, each year there seems to be fewer and fewer updates to the app. In fact, I don’t think there have been any in 2021. And in past couple of weeks more things have stopped working on the app.

Horrible user experience. Very painful user experience. When I try to view a bird it’s says you need a subscription. You can’t use the app without paying apparently. I purchased a subscription and then I need to download 15,000+ files. So I start downloading but if the phone goes to sleep the download stops and I get a download error. So I plug the phone in and keep it awake by tapping the screen and watch 1000’s of files slowly download. After 30 minutes the download finishes. Then I try to view a bird’s info and it tells me to download again. So I try to download again and it tells me I’ve already downloaded. No documentation other than a pitch to pay for a subscription. No troubleshooting guide. The contact support link is broken so there is no way to get assistance and no way to figure what I did wrong. So I delete the the download and try again. Same problem. I’ve been trying to get this to work for hours now. It’s just $3 so it’s not really worth the trouble to try to get a refund. I would rather have not spent so much time trying to get this to work. There are other apps that do work and don’t charge monthly fees. Try Audubon Birds or Merlin Bird ID. You will need to download bird packs for those but it only takes a few seconds to download. I strongly recommend you don’t pay for this app when there are much better free alternatives.

Very Helpful. I really enjoy the App. It has helped me find birds I wouldn’t have without it. It was especially helpful in planning trips - until the “Browse By Location” stopped being updated about a month ago. I really used that function a lot. I hope it is fixed soon.

A few quibbles away from 5 stars. This app has been my essential go-to since I got it when it was available only for iPhone and only $20, one-time. We are a birding family and all use/love it. Some search features could use improvement, and the occasional crashes and bugs are a bit annoying. Otherwise, it would be 5 stars for me.

Essential birding app. This is one of the apps that every birder should have. It tells you which birds to expect at any given time of year in any given area, which is amazingly helpful. The photos and audio files are all excellent quality. For beginners, this app will allow you to easily scroll through the birds in your area, allowing you to potentially identify the bird without flipping through a field guide. More experienced birders will love the frequency bars showing when to expect each bird throughout the year, and the audio files for each species. This app does not give detailed descriptions of birds (such as behaviors and habitat), so it does not replace more in-depth field guides. But for actual usefulness while birding, this app is essential.

Sometimes useful but too slow and zero support. Conceptually a great resource but not so good in practice. I’ve subscribed to the world version for several years. Seems to have issues detecting that my phone has moved to a new location (new country or state). Wish there was some way to access the actual eBird checklists that are being mapped. Too frequently a dot on a map doesn’t provide enough information.

Great app. I really like this app, particularly the life list. I was able to add, one species at a time, my entire life list which is currently at 615. It took a couple days of work but now I have an easy to access list and the app will notify me of nearby species observed that I still need on my list. This alone is worth the price.

Great app. I have about 4 birding apps on my phone, but this is my go to app time and time again. Favorite feature is being able to easily see what "notable" species have been seen nearby and from there link to a map to see/navigate to location!

Excited for app, support is meh. I was really excited to get this app. I got a subscription on their site but it’s never transferred or whatever. I’ve emailed several times from the website and support in the app and haven’t heard back. If I could just get that sorted, I’d be one happy camper….will update review if we ever get this sorted. It’s been over two weeks at this point :-/

Great app especially if you’re birding in a new area!. I refer to this app frequently to see what birds are showing up or leaving here locally or when I travel, I can find the hotspots with recent bird sightings AND get directions to those locations. It has some other helpful bird id features, but not as robust as some other digital “field guides” like Sibley’s or iBird Pro.

Birding made easy!. I use this to find out when a favorite bird is back in the area, and to sanity check my own observations. I'm new to west coast birding, and this has helped locate quite a few life birds for me. Very impressive interface makes it easy to use. Hope it's maintained for the long run!

Great painting and photo combination. This is my go to app for bird info. It is an encyclopedia of bird info, with range maps, descriptions, detailed ID features, search capabilities, sounds, etc., etc. The unique feature is having both paintings (with key features identified) and photos. A more complete set of photos would be useful—for some species there are redundant photos of adult males but no photos of juveniles or nonbreeding plumages.

Great tool. I use & enjoy frequently even though I am unable to bird as much as previously. If I want to know if the Cedar Waxwings are still in my area in spring I go to Birdseye where I can see chart of recent sightings in date order. I also love Daily Bird app for seeing birds I may or may not ever see as well as remembering birds I have seen & enjoyed in the past. Brings back many great memories.

Bird’s Eye. As an amateur birder, I really appreciate Birdseye. He helps me know what birds are in the area, and when seasonal birds are here or gone. One thing I wish it would do, and perhaps it does but I just don’t understand it, is when I see the scales of the number of birds around, I wish it would help me understand how many birds that really represents, rather than just a relative number. I’m not sure how to do this but that would be my wish.

Wonderful app that I use around the world. You really need to buy the paid version to appreciate this app as well as use eBird. We use it constantly when birding often without a field guide. It’s ability to customize search to an eBird hotspot, showing birds seen in a limited area, a limited timeframe is invaluable. You can even have it tell you what birds you are missing on your life list that have recently been seen. I’ve been using the app for a couple of years now and I’m still discovering useful things that you can do with it. Highly recommended by me at least. My only complaint is that it does not have family sharing for the purchase options. Apparently each person in the family must purchase a license to use it.

Helps id-ty-crashes repeatedly and hard nav. Ty for developing app to help Id and list birds seen in Peru. Workflow from id to listing on ebird within app is non-intuitive, repetitive and a long process. Could you please improve this UX? Contact me if you want to observe my UX and issues. Also, when does my list data synchronize to ebird lifelist? I added birds to my ebird list within this app, but they did not appear when I logged into my ebird lifelist. Indispensable. This is my go to app whenever I plan any trip, even non-birding trips. I use the “browse by location” to check out what is around in the nearest CBC, and then search for a location if I find a bird I’m interested in finding.

BirdsEye works fantastically!. Newest successful experience with this profoundly useful and elegant app: I was attending a meeting at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (someone had to go!). As I always do on such trips, I looked to see if there were any nearby opportunities to see new birds. I hadn't been to Wyoming for decades, so there were several, and at one site only 29 minutes away by car someone had reported a Great Grey Owl to eBird just 5 days before. After the meetings were over I went to the location, Upper Turpin Meadows, and while I didn't find an owl my first visit, in the afternoon, I did find one the next morning. Life Bird. Thank you BirdsEye!

Excellent App. I love that this app is free. I also love that anywhere I go, I can see what bird species have been seen recently, plus how often. I have NOT experienced the downloading and other frustrations that other reviews have mentioned. I enjoy this resource.

Shouldn’t have paid.. I’ve been using the free version for years, but decided to pay thinking there was more content available. Nothing seems to have changed at all. I bought the world subscription, but still can’t even add Bat Falcon to my life list. I also added a bird to my life list by mistake, but I can’t delete it. I will continue to use the App for looking at rare birds, but will not be renewing. Is there an upgrade forthcoming?

Quality of a Paid App, but Free. I’ve used dozens of bird apps through their and my lifespan. The overwhelming majority of apps I liked costed money, and only a few that were free had the same value as a paid app. Birds Eye, by far, is my favorite bird app of 7+ years along with eBird. Don’t bother with the paid apps, everything is inside of this well-designed, well-executed free app.

Almost good!. I want so bad to like this app, but it’s so frustrating! After an hour of downloading data, I go into the field and nothing is available. I pay for multiple packs, but the birds in those packs aren’t available to view. Just too frustrating for too many reasons… and support isn’t helpful.

Great resource but has ‘hang ups’. This has been one of my favorite apps for some time. Information, photos and maps are fantastic. Though performance has improved, it still hangs up and needs to be restarted when switching views of ‘Daily Bird’ pictures and information. Please fix that so I can rate this 5*!

Fantastic!. I’ve been using BirdsEye for a few years now. Paid for the world membership. Definitely worth the investment. Keep my life list on my IPad and my year list on my iPhone. I love that the membership allows each device it’s own information. Highly recommend this app.

Criticisms justified?. I need to the app, as I am to birding, in the last year. I generally like the app and have found it useful, but it can be frustrating to use, especially when it forgets that I’ve already purchased packages. If, as Danny Sloan right in his review two years ago, a few photographers are manipulating the rating so that possibly better photographs than their own are used for certain birds, this is a problem. Is also a problem if the developer is unresponsive to help requests, as some reviewers complain. I have not tested this, but, as it has been my experience with many apps, I find the reviews that mention this to me credible. Lastly, if the app is not regularly updated as it should be to be kept current, that’s really unacceptable for a paid app.

Best mobile app for finding birds.. This app is excellent. I haven’t had any of the other problems that I’ve seen in other comments. No download issues, it’s been completely free for me to use. I LOVE that it shows the time of year that each species occurs in your location. This is app is intuitive and full of great information for beginners to lifelong birders. Comparison: I don’t like how the list funtion works for tracking birds you have seen. It seems that lists are tied to EBird hotspot locations only, so I could not, for example, make a backyard list for this app. I don’t mind This however, because I only use eBird for list making anyways. The Audubon app also has custom list making ability, so this downside to this app does not impact my use of it. Audubon app also shows birds around you, but it doesn’t include all hotspots, so this app holds more information. Other apps with this level of functionality are not free. You can get all this information on the ebird website, but this app is the best option when you aren’t using a laptop. 10 our of 10 in my book.

I love this app. Anytime my family has a trip planned I use this app to discover what new life birds I’ll be able to see. And, when we are there and unfamiliar with local birding sites, this app show us where we need to go to see target species. As the title says, I love this app.

Offline Improvement. I need a reliable way to have access to my favorite locations while I am far from internet or cell signal, and I have not been able to do that with BirdsEye. I hope they will develop a way to access photos and calls while offline.

No support. I used to like this app. Somewhere along the way I became unable to log on to it, yet it has so much of my important information. When I try to login with my prior login information, I am told that if I give my email address I will be sent the ability to change my password, but I have tried numerous times and never receive an email. I’ve complained to customer support repeatedly and no one gets back to me. So now I’m traveling in South America without the photos and information and favorite place tags and everything else I was planning to use for this trip. I highly recommend NOT purchasing this app until it is clear that you won’t lose all of your data and not be able to reach customer support

Great data, photos, locations. Birdseye shows me which species have been seen locally, allowing me to quick check photos, on those hard to ID ducks, sparrows or warblers. Then it let’s me know which birds have been seen locally, that are not YET in my life list AND it provides great map with specific hotspots, so I can head out to find the birds. I use this app everyday.

Love it but…. It’s become very buggy in the past year. Most annoyingly,It now tells me I have a new Internet connection, even though I have full bars and all the other apps I have no problem connecting. Also,When I try to “ select a life or year list” either nothing happens or it goes to the select language screen. Developers, please fix!

Simply indispensable. I use this App almost daily - I check out the hotspots within 50 miles to see what is moving in, moving out and currently present as well as searching for rarities. On trips, I track our progress against good birding sites along our route. It is an excellent tool that can significantly enhance your birding experience.

Must-have for traveling birders. I use this app almost daily for finding birds near my home as well as the best hotspots while traveling. I highly recommend the paid version. You can search by species or location.

An excellent and essential birding tool. I have had the $2.99/month subscription for at least 2 years now and just love this app. It’s the only app on my phone that I pay for and am happy to pay for. The audio files are such a great resource. Love this app

Real World information. This app provides timely information by location based on actual sightings by real birders. The sightings are vetted by expert birders to provide the most accurate information. What could be better?

Best bird app ever!. Birdseye is indispensable! The best thing is that it shows which birds have been seen IN THE AREA where you are visiting, and provides a bar graph of the number of sightings by month. So you can quickly narrow down which are the likely species that you have seen. It is crowd-sourced and linked to EBird (both from Cornell). The app also includes photos of the birds, but does NOT contain descriptions of the birds—its only weakness. But use Birdseye in combination with one of the apps (like Audubon) that provide descriptions. Also, Birdseye works all over the world, not just in North America. An amazing app that has revolutionized birding!

Great!!. I have used this app on many of my trips including North America, Europe, India, Belize, Thailand, Taiwan and Turkey. My latest trip to Thailand I used it to find birding locations everywhere we went! It works great. It’s the first thing I look at before I go on a trip. Some times I will also add to it from the internet or get a book, or an app for the area I’m headed. Thanks so much for this app!

No customer support. First: this is one my most used apps. I use it almost every day and I pay for the annual membership and have recommended it for years to anyone who would listen. That said, recently this app has stopped working for me. I have done my due diligence with research as well as deleting and reinstalling. I’m having the same issue on multiple devices. I’ve sent so many requests for support through different channels and all have gone unanswered. I’m so disappointed to not have any means of customer support and sad to not have this app available when I’m out birdwatching.

Great way to record birds. How easy to record sightings and have them entered in eBird. No more download-edit-upload sessions, so more time for birds!

A great resource for identifying target species. Yes, a great resource for identifying target species when one visits a new area. Tho the eBird app is more appropriate for submitting data and maintaining one's own bird lists.

Birdy helper. Love this app, hope it continues to expand its bird library, really helpful planner when heading off to bird and easy to use out on the field as a quick reference tool. Thanks.

No Support- Money Grab. Do not pay anything for this app. It doesn’t work. And I can’t find how to cancel subscription. 😡

Brilliant App. This is great for seeing what species have been reported on eBird recently & over longer periods. It helps find new species & improve the chances of identifying others you are not 100% sure of especially if they have been reported nearby. It can however show birds that were recorded but found to be incorrect & changed on eBird. If this could be incorporated into the App it would be even better. If you are after rare species I would recommend purchasing the subscription especially useful for the months when travelling overseas.

Can it get better?. Every time I use this app I am astounded by its utility and how it helps my birding. A truly excellent app! I am currently in a new location and have been helped not only to find birds and birding hotspots, but also the directions how to get there.

Could be better. I don't like the way it works on my iPad. It should turn when you tilt the screen.

Good, useful, helpful. I got this app when I first started birding with any degree of seriousness. It has proved terrifically useful, helpful and most often spot/on in helping me do it better. Well worth the cost and the renewal costs.

Could use an update on features. The smart search feature could use improving, needs more criteria. Also, noticed you can't set different parameters between notable and rare species in the rare bird alerts section. Hope an update soon, wondering when since it's been over a year since 2015, especially when you're paying a monthly membership.

Incredible. Photographs are invaluable aid to identification. Songs and calls are beautiful. Locator is awesome. This is absolutely worth the money. The best app I have purchased by far. I love it almost as much as I love birds.

Very good app.. Usefull application about birds

Invaluable!. Wow! I bought this app within 5 minutes of hearing about it, and have not regretted it in the least. Many of the major hotspots show recent activity, and the fact that the app lists birds that have been seen in an area within the last 3 years is extremely valuable -- if the bird was there before, it might be there again. With descriptions of the habitat type the bird prefers, quality recordings of their calls, and a "life list" built right in that can be used to narrow down recent sightings of birds you have *not* seen yet, I'd be willing to say this has become the most useful app on my iPhone, and if you are a birder, it could very well be on yours too. I still love it!. The app works even better since a few months with faster update of recent sightings. The only problem is when you click to the map view of a species it is not all the reports that are displayed when you compare to eBird data. Keep you your good work Gilbert Bouchard

Great app - even with an itouch. Took this app on a vacation to Florida. Used it in my hotel room to load up local sightings of birds I was interested in, as well as birding hot spots. With the information loaded, I used my gps to navigate to these locations. I was able to visit numerous hot spots that I otherwise wouldn't have known about. I also found the elusive scrub jay I was seeking. Lastly, it saved me from wasting efforts pursuing species that just weren't being seen in the area. Definitely improved my birding vacation experiences and added to my life list

Can't download offline content - Horrible App. This app is a nice idea but downloads for offline content take forever (hours) and even if you go through the process and finally get everything, you'll have to do it more than once. You'll be out in the field looking something up and suddenly be directed back to the membership page to download it AGAIN. Awful execution, developers, not worth your time or money.

My favourite app but could do more. Despite being my most expensive app, it is also my favourite. I use it on trips all over the world and it helps to know what is around, to target and find species I have never seen and to make identifications by narrowing the options and showing images. It is also a great tool for just getting into interesting areas of high diversity - more useful than hotspots as it can more quickly indicate the habitats and specialties for a site. IMO, there is one addition that would make this app so much better and give it 5 stars. I would like to be able to access data for one month as is now available or to access all available data for the given area being sampled. Many places I visit have little eBird activity and being able to tap the database for all records would vastly improve the bird finding potential of the app. I find I have to search the eBird website for taxa of interest when I am in sparsely birded areas and this is tedious and defeats the purpose of BirdsEye. If this is an issue with server time and app performance, it could be limited to a certain number of records (a threshold could be set where it won’t pick up all data if this is limiting). However, being able to toggle this on and off would be amazing. Users would be aware that searches are slower if searching the entire database and likely use this sparingly.

BirdsEye Takes Major Step Back. I purchased an earlier version of BirdsEye. When I downloaded the newest version, the one available here, I found I had lost functionality. To get back the Hotspot data I use regularly, I must pay $4.99 per month. I believe this is a major ripoff, since I paid already for features now removed. I enjoyed an elegant organization of ebird data, and now it's gone. I protest. I hate. Mild mannered birder gets mad! This is just an awful direction for this formerly wonderful app. 1 Star means 'I hate it'.

Birdseye. My Favourite bird app.

App Not Working. I purchased the app through their website, using PayPal to pay with my credit card. My purchase is not recognized on the app, I have sent 3 email requests for assistance and completed all the help suggestions found online. Nothing is working and my requests for assistance are ignored, including a request for a refund for a product that I cannot access.

Impressive but tricky. I have the e-bird apps for North America, South America (paid) and the World (paid). How do I sync these with the world app, so that I can get an accurate number of bird sightings, to keep track of my numbers. Probably, I have to go onto my laptop, but that is annoying as I should be able to sync across my devices and across my different apps. If you sell an app, then make it useable without the need for a laptop. Your new picture id format does not work on my Apple devices. You can't crop the downloaded photo so can't progress to the next step in the progress. Hopefully that will be fixed as you can't bring your laptop into the field.

Great Birding Log. Love the fact that I can create a list as I go, contribute to bird data for the benefit of the birds and other birders. I would give it a 5 if it was integrated within the EBird application so I didn’t have to open two apps. Brilliant App, I love it

Limited. This app has potential with some great features, but the bird list is so limited it’s not very useful in North America. I could not find in the app common birds like the black-capped chickadee, mourning dove, cedar waxwing, and others. Perhaps the paid version gives access to more birds, but the free version is simply not worth it when so many birds are missing.

Not a good option!. I made the mistake of purchasing the world membership for 1 year as we are travelling for the next year but the app is awful. It is not user friendly at all; once you purchase a membership you need to download the info to have offline (as expected) but the file is HUGE - it takes HOURS to download and even then when I would try to use it; the app would tell me it needs to download more. On a solid wifi connect I let it download for 3hrs and it still wasn’t complete. I am disappointed I wasted the money for the year membership and wish I could get my purchase back, especially since I will be deleting the app.

Great for birders. Love it. I plan outings with it. Great help in finding good birding sites. I can't find it to add on my new iPad.

Continues to get better!. I like the fact that there is still the need for data, sounds & photos for some species. It gives us all the opportunity to contribute and be citizen scientists.

Excellent birding tool!. This has been really handy - both for narrowing down what bird I'm looking at, and for getting an idea what I might see before I go out. It's made identification easier, and it's fantastic for up-to-date info on the birds in an area. Great stuff!

A very useful app.. I live in an area well-populated by birders so lots of information to be had on this app. Navigation is simple and one just has to remember that, as it is based on ebird reports, that it's not going to be 100% accurate in terms of sighting reports.

Wish I could get a refund. I can find more accurate information online for free. A big disappointment...

Fantastic birding tool. Great app! Use it all the time for birding; especially useful in more populated areas. It can sometimes be slow to load sightings or hotspots on map view. This version is the same as the pre-membership one.

Great app. This app is very helpful and I use it to keep track of my current annual sightings and to keep track of what i still need for the year. Great app for what it does.

DeDe. This is a great app BUT it needs to be available on iPad. The screen on iPhone when you request the map doesn't show the whole screen and won't move so you can see much of anything.

Frustrating. Every third or fourth time I open the app ( paid version) it needs to update. Not helpful when you’re in the field waiting for this to complete

Good app. A good app for seeing what birds have been documented in your vicinity or at a chosen site recently. Subscriptions seem a bad deal. Including expected as well as birds seen at a given sight would be an improvement. This would be particularly useful for sites with few birders.

Developer no longer supports the app. Paid for a world membership but not able to access the membership in the phone app. Made multiple attempts to contact support and did not receive any response. Also the website doesn’t show any content after 2021.

Quick access to nearby birds!. My favorite part of this app is the super fast access to nearby birds and where/when they were seen. It's very helpful! Plus you can edit and maintain your life list.

Needs more tech support. Great app design. super useful for birding. But there are tons of bugs now that weren’t a problem previously. “Nearby “ button no longer works and sometimes lists you’ve paid for don’t populate. But if these bugs are fixed it’s a 5 star app

Birders should download this app.. I use this any time that I’m traveling or looking for a new spot to go birding. It seems to consolidate eBird checklists very well and show you hotspots in new areas. I would highly recommend for birders who love to travel or listers looking for new birds.

Quick and easy navigation for every bird reported to ebird Great reporting on notable birds seen within your chosen radius Instantly compiled the locations and sighting dates of birds that are not on your list. To my knowledge contains every bird currently recognized. Paired with a field guide or Merlin Bird ID, and ebird you have just about every resource to track, identify, study, and report every bird in much of the world. Happy birding my friend

Very Helpful Ap. I always use this to verify a bird. If my identification does not agree I then will go to Merlin and the Audubon ap for help. I have seen rare birds in an area; therefore , I will report it.

Birdseye. Very good with some limitations You can’t set a location- only uses your current one When looking up an individual bird there seems to be no way to look at individual EBird reports of the latest sightings

No support. I have paid for subscriptions for years. When it came time to review it sat In pending for a week. I contacted PayPal and asked for refund since multiple attempts to contact developers by email and phone went unanswered. I really loved this product but cannot recommend since they have no support.

Works on only 1 device. Couldn’t download info on my phone so I could access my lists offline. Only works on my iPad. I have a subscription. Should work🙁

Valuable tool. I use several bird apps and this is one I always have with me for several reasons. 1 . the 'near me' function narrows the selection of birds when in unfamiliar places. 2. The frequency by month gives a lot of information at a glance. 3. Worldwide coverage in one app is great. On the 'can do better ' front 1. Many birds have incomplete info. Other apps have more detailed pix and descriptions 2. You need an internet connection to get value from the app. Downloading 'near me' information would be a big plus.

Great App. Very easy to use. I have upgraded to different parts of the world and the app comes in very handy for abundance reports and current sightings.

Good app. I enjoy using this app to see what is nearby and to keep up with my lists. I do use it occasionally to help with identification. The downside to this app is that it seems to really drain my battery. But that may be because I often use it in conjunction with ebird.

Excellent tool for birders. In my home town or when I travel this app is extremely useful to scan hotspots and look for birds I haven't seen yet.

Sort-of works. If you want to see what species are nearby, this does the trick. But eBird explore does it as well or better. If you, say, have an upcoming trip and want to see what species are near that location, or any other more complex search, you are out of luck.

A must have for any birder!. I have owned this app since it first came out and find it indispensable. It is well supported with many improvements. Bugs are quickly fixed. This is a first rate app!

Nice but don’t purchase do monthly. Nice app but I constantly have to download it, I purchased it rather than monthly charge and it’s constantly showing up that my subscription has run out. I have to contact tech support and get it updated not just one time, every couple of months very frustrating

An Essential Ap that we use every time. Can’t imagine not having this ap! It tells me what birds we might see in an area. If we can’t identify a bird, I often relook at the Birdseye Ap to see if we’ve overlooked a species. Easy to use!

Birdseye. This is a very good app to help you find the birds in your area. You can move the area to find birds in different areas. This is my go to app when I am leading trips

Still not sure about this one. I’ve had it at least three years. Once it transported the list to eBird. I keep hoping these apps can work together, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ll likely end up canceling this one, as eBird and Merlin take care of my needs.

Excellent bird location source. I use this app almost daily to determine what birds are reported in my area. Excellent format and information. I also like the rare bird sightings for locating unusual birds.

Disappointed with Service. I bought Birdseye a long time ago for $20 and used it with great admiration to its capabilities. However, the app got deleted on my phone and upon redownload, it said I needed to pay a membership fee every month to get all the birds I used to have. I love this app. Anytime my family has a trip planned I use this app to discover what new life birds I’ll be able to see. And, when we are there and unfamiliar with local birding sites, this app show us where we need to go to see target species. As the title says, I love this app.

Must have. I find this app indispensable when traveling to a new area where I am unfamiliar with the common and on common species. It is like talking to a local birder and hearing his local knowledge.

Still the best. I got a bit confused by the update, but once I browsed around a bit, I realized it was much improved, even though it was already a solid app.

Every day. This works for finding bird sightings and rare birds in whatever area I am in. I have not had any of the tech issues. Keep up the great work!

Doesn’t respond, or update.. I have sent between 6-10 emails with no response. Only some birds show up, others don’t, even when you search the species. I have reloaded, and reinstalled numerous times, but still don’t get all the alerts. I don’t believe this company is still in business, as they refuse to respond, or patch the app.

Essential travel birding. I use this whenever I travel to pinpoint the most productive birding opportunities. It has helped me see new species and make the most my time. Great companion app to Merlin

Zero support. I paid for a subscription on the website because the person who told me about the app recommended I do it that way. Unfortunately it is never migrated over onto my mobile app. In spite of the fact that I’ve written to support at least three times. I would probably love this app if I could use it in the field but since I can’t I’m giving it a one rating and if I could I’d give it a zero.

Great App!. Easy to use. Love the "browse by location" feature when traveling. It makes it quick and easy to find some great birds when passing through an area.

Great resource. I find myself using this more and more. Finding locations to visit in unfamiliar territory is so much easier than searching the Internet. And now that I have linked it to my ebird account I can contribute my sightings to the community.

Useful app, but.... Tech Support doesn’t always fix the problem. I have reported the same issue 3 times (a feature that used to work fine), snd got assurances that it will be fixed right away. Well, they pushed through an app update, and the problem was not fixed...still. The app is otherwise useful

Tiny flaws in a great app. Use it every day. Species list does not perfectly sync with Ebird. Nicer if it worked with Google Maps. Otherwise, let’s me know where and when the birds I need are.

Less useful than it used to be. Hasn’t been updated in forever, still tries to convince me that Collared Pranticoles in Africa or close and local birds to Colorado. They’ve never really gotten the bugs worked out and I’ve had this app for many years. Are used to rely on it very heavily, but now I find it more of a burden than an attribute.

Great tool to find bird "needs". We are working to increase the number of birds on our ABA North American list and this is a fabulous app for locating hot spots and birds. Was unsure about paying for the access but have been happy as its aided in finding several life birds near where we have been.

Great Bird App. I am a new user of this app and am having so much fun identifying birds and learning about the birds in my area. Highly recommend this app to bird lovers or to those wanting to learn more about birds.

Stopped working properly. I’ve had this app for a long time and noticed it wasn’t loading some of my regional lists. I tried to delete and re-load thinking the issue was on my end and now I can’t get it to work at all. I paid for another year subscription back in Feb and based on other reviews it sounds like I might just be out on that cost.

Doesn't recognize paid membership. I have paid world membership for 3 years, annually. The latest renewal was automatically charged to my credit card on Nov 7, 2021. But the App doesn't recognize it, and restore membership doesn't work either. Repeated emails to support is not answered either. The subscription bought nothing but frustration.

Required App. Loaded with useful information in an easy to use format. Everyone from hardcore birders to backyard enthusiasts will benefit from this app.

Update Suggestion. I think it'd be cool if there'd be a way to search for sightings in recent days rather than weeks. Also, if we could see specific notes for any species rather than just notable/rare species.

Trip planning necessity. This app would have 5 stars if it weren't for random crashes that occur. I will say, it has improved in this area since I got it two years ago. I use this app exclusively to plan any out of town trips I go on. Hot spots I have never heard of are found by searching my life (or year) needs. My favorite discovery using this app was Big Morango Canyon in Southern California. I picked up four lifers there, which is a big deal for this California local. If I had to buy this app again, I definitely would.

Subscription? No thanks.... We have a very diverse bird population in our area and I was excited to see that this app interfaces with the eBird project. After downloading, the first two species I typed in were only included in the subscription service. Needless to say I immediately lost interest in using the app. In addition, the app could use a facelift. Looks like a first generation iPhone app.

Can’t bird without it. If you travel a lot birding or do county birding it is an essential tool. My only complaint is there is no communications when the app is down. When EBird is down they let you know why.

Great birding app!. Very helpful in deciding which hotspot to visit, since you can filter by recent sightings, and also easily determine which of those birds you have not seen yet (assuming you are entering your sightings into eBird, like I am). Love this app!

Great. Great app. Use it a lot especially when traveling. Rare bird information is great. EXCEPT would be very helpful to have State or general location as first bits of where bird was seen. Often have to open and go through several pages just to see where it was see

So good. I literally use it everyday for quick peeks at what’s being seen within 100 miles of me. This app has caused me to cancel my day and hit the road multiple times.
