Effective program. This program works, but you have to actually do it consistently. Don’t skip runs.

Can't have it all, I guess. -------------- May 30, 2017 I PURCHASED, with MONEY, your "Get Running" app. I still use it and really enjoy it.....BUT.....I am now getting a warning message that the developer has to update the app to run on future versions of Apple iOS. Ummmm, should I worry??!! This app has not been touched/updated in 4 years (since 2013)!!!??!!

Amazing. This app got me motivated an excited to run! What a wonderful app! Better than any other one! Really works and is easy because it doesn't require a wifi or data connection!

Best Running App Ever. If you are starting from zero, this is the absolute best app for you. No kidding, I’ve had it for years. And I’ve used it to (re)start running multiple times. It’s simple, nothing fancy, just do that they tell you to do, and take your time! Trust me. Just download the app!

Restarting our running. I have used this app before to get started running and it was great then. I now find myself needing to restart again. This program is perfect for me. It steps you up at great intervals, and you can always repeat a week if you feel you need more practice before you move on. Highly recommend!

Get running. I did this app a few years ago. In no time I was running my first 5K, I lost weight and was toned up. I had a few difficult years ( emotional times with great losses ) and fell away from running. I am back at it with this app starting from week 1 I set a bucket list of 5K runs from Michigan to Minnesota to Florida. I am going to be 65 and I know I can do the 5K. Who knows maybe 10K.

Best running app. I have had this app since 2014. I’ve redone it several times and I always enjoy the challenge. It has never let me down

I never write reviews. BUT I LOVE THIS APP SO MUCH. It was exactly what I needed to start a running routine without letting myself down by burning out. The incremental buildup of endurance has rekindle my love of exercise, but also helped me develop greater discipline mentally. Also the nice British lady is very encouraging :)

The BEST c25k program!!!. I keep coming back to the app over and over again. It is truly the best program to jump start anyone running.

It Works!. This app took me from couch to running a full 30 minutes. I run on the treadmill and had tried other big name apps. This one is so simple to use. The coach is soothing and the screen design tells you exactly where you are. I cannot recommend it enough.

Got me running again :-). Great app. I’m not a natural runner, and have been out of it for years. I’d try to fire up, pull a muscle and quit. Repeat every year. Get running!. I used to live this app, but it no longer works. I have tried all the fixes and I can’t make to work. I am wondering if there is a problem with the app. Looks like I will have to find another running. So sad I like to english accent of the couch!

Awesome. Love the app, it is non-intrusive and it will pause my podcasts instead of talking over them when it gives 30 and 10 second warnings.

This app I bought almost 9 years ago and it changed my life forever. my first week day 1 on 1st feb 2012. That day I never thought I would even run 5 minutes ever. Kept on doing it week after week (in 19F temperature too). Completed 5k in 9 weeks. It really works. voice prompt are very well done.

It works!. So easy! Just follow the instructions and in no time you will be running 30 minutes straight.

Outstanding way to enter the running world. If you are looking for a way to ease into running - this program is certainly that! Excellent guidance, pace, timing and growth. Highly recommend for the beginner who has put off running in the past or has tried and failed because they were too aggressive and/or found themselves with an related to poor training.

Love this app. Everything about this app is great. I can listen to my music and run and a pleasant voice prompts me all the way. The timing of the reminders is just exactly right. When I feel like I can’t go on it comes on and encourages me to keep going. Love the interface. Simple is great! Thanks for this app!

Best running app for music!. I love this app for running! I can put on my favorite cardio playlist and the nice British lady (I’ve named her Pippa) tells me exactly what to do to meet my goals. Music fades in and out seamlessly whenever Pippa challenges me. Best of all worlds...I listen to my music and someone challenges me to run. Brilliant!

Love it!!. I downloaded this app 8 yrs ago. It got me to my first 5k, and motivated me to run half marathons. I have since not run as often as I should, I have downloaded many apps but always go back to this one when I need to get myself back to three miles. The calm, encouraging tones, the manageable expectations make it easy and amazing. I never even realize I am running as far as I am!

Best starting running app. I have tried multiple programs to start running. C25k, etc. this is the only app that got me there. They start you out at a perfect pace. Increase the time in a way that isn’t too much. If you are looking to start running, this is the app you need.

All the stuff you need and none of the stuff you don’t. No extra crap like Fitbit integration or calorie counting. Just voice cues for when to start and stop running, with simple customization options.

My favorite running app!. I love it and have used it many times over the years. I tend to run for a while and then get lazy and stop for a long period of time. So then I go back to this app. I’ve completed the training twice and I quit it once. It’s still amazes me that it’s so hard to run for a short period of time when I start the training but by the end I’m running a 5k non-stop!

Please make apple watch version!!!. I love this app, I have used it mostly in the gym...now there are watches for outdoor running. Please make an apple watch version!! I am willing to pay anything..this is my fav running app!

Disappointed. I enjoy the training aspect of the program but the fact that it doesn’t retain any record of history is a deal breaker. It would be nice to be able to check your runs when they finish without having to use an additional app. Update it please.

Simple and effective. Over many years I’ve used this to correct for back sliding on fitness. Gets me there every time.

My absolute favorite. This is THE BEST app to use to start running. My only complaint is that it is not available for my watch and is not updated. I fear that it will at some point not be useable for my iPhone. Please keep it current!

Makes 1/2 hour of running nonstop doable - Even for the out-of-shape!. I’m on my 2nd time through this 8 wk running app. The first time was four years ago before having my youngest child. That time I went from completely sedentary to running a 5k 3x a week. I’m two weeks in this time and can already tell it’s working again. Each run I have a little more to give for a little bit longer. I may never be fast, but I know I’ll end this 8 weeks able to run the full half hour without stopping.

Best simple running app. This app got me from not running to running a half an hour non stop. There something great and encouraging about the voice. Maybe it's the British accent. Not a lot of talking in between, just enough to keep you motivated.

Love this app, am I an Anglophile?. There’s something about the coach’s soothing British voice that makes me smile, even when I feel like giving up. That said, sometimes I get excited or hopeful when she starts speaking, only to be disappointed that I have 45 seconds MORE of exertion 🙂. Other than that, I’ve used this app a couple times over the last few years to get back into cardio health after pregnancy and general laziness. I’ve even used the interval prompts for things like jumping rope, kettle ball swings and other calistenthics as a workout when I can’t run.

Works Really Well. I started off looking at apps like C2K5 and 5K Runner, but am pleased with this one. It is not as flashy or featured packed as some others but the simplicity is one of the reasons why it works so well. Voice prompts are great and well timed and the week by week pacing is just right. My only request, so far, is that I wish there was an Apple Watch app. I’d really like to do quick visual checks of my progress in each run without getting my phone out, unlocking it, opening the app etc. A glance at my wrist would be much more convenient. 🙏🏻

Great for the beginner. I downloaded this app based off a friends recommendation and I love it! I never thought I’d enjoy running so much. The segments are manageable with plenty of time to recover during the walking sections. I was concerned my heart rate wouldn’t enjoy running but this program seems well designs to build up the cardio. The voice over is calming and encouraging. She speaks just enough at the right times and even turns down the volume of my music when she is talking. I’m about to start week three and I’m looking forward to it.

Very very very good!. Nine weeks ago I really was incapable of running more than a couple of minutes. Thanks to this App I now run 30 minutes three times a week and feel great. It does exactly as it promises - couch to 5 k. In my case I consider this to be a miracle since I'm already 57 years old. if I can do it then surely anyone can . I highly recommend this App to any couch potatoes wanting to run. It is well structured, works well with music playing on your iPod, and motivates you. You will experience a minor amount of discomfort when you go into the transitional period during weeks 5,6 and 7, but stick with it and your efforts will be rewarded. The information provided on running is also really useful.

Get this app!!. Like any exercise, this does require willpower, but the app is great. It got me through that scary "I'm not going to be any good at running" thinking process. It breaks you in gently and before you know it, you're running for longer amounts of time and it really is a great confidence boost as each week goes by and you beat your last goals. Just a tip though, create a playlist for your workout before you do it so you don't have to fuss about with skipping songs. Enjoy!!

Great app. Helped me get back into running twice after two surgeries. I’d recommend building up to walking on alternate days for 45 mins over several months and then maybe daily for a couple of weeks before starting the program. Don’t feel bad if you end up needing to repeat the week 1 program for a couple of weeks either. At least you’re still going!

Almost there!. Love this app... Certainly keeps me motivated and committed to the runs. I had another version with an annoying American voice, find this one much easier to listen to. I just wish I could access my music from the get running page, but as the runs got longer I just left the screen open on iTunes. Looking forward to 5pm!

You can do it. Amazing amazing amazing! This took me from a couch to 5k runner one step at a time. It helped me build confidence and made me fall in love with running! Wonderful app.

Great app!. As a non runner, this app makes it so easy to get started in running. The couch to 5km program is a realistic program and this app takes all the guess work out of timing yourself. Just plug in a run when it says and walk when it says. I love the prompts too "only 15 more seconds of running to go!". She is so encouraging! I also like the you can tick off your runs as you go and see that you are on track. Great app.

Best running app for a beginner by far. By far the best, least complicated app I have tried. With the best results. Just motivational enough, achievable progressions and no fuss. I have completed it in the past but was injured (unrelated to running) and unable to run for a couple of years. This app is old school now but I’ve tried others and they don’t work for me. I’m using it to get back into running. Have just competed week 3 and remembering again how much I love running!

Best app on my iPhone!. I would never run for the life of me until I decided on doing something new this year, for a new years resolution. I had heard about apps that assisted in personal training and stumbled across this one and have loved every second of it since I downloaded it. Totally worth the money. Love listening to my music or audiobooks while the app is running in the background. I am now nearing the end of week 6 and wishing you guys would make a 5-10k app. I don't want to get the other one I like this format. Please make a 5-10k, please! :D

Great Running App. For 51 years I have never been able to run for more than a few meters without stopping. I was not sporty at school and always tried to avoid sports carnivals. So it is with utter amazement that I can now run for 30 minutes continuously. This is an amazing app. It has changed my hubby and my lives. My hubby used to suffer badly from shin splints but thanks to the pace of the app can now run 30 minutes continuously too. I have now started my 15 year old daughter too! If you think you can't - read the introductory info - it tells you how to start walking for 30 mins first. We were already walkers so we skipped this. Great app! Thank you.

Love This App. Switched from other running app to this one and I love it. As I am nearing the end of the training sessions, it would be great if GET RUNNING was able to be adapted so that the runner could choose to go longer, i.e. the ability to add an extra five minutes on ad infinitum. That means that the app will adapt as the runner adapts his/her fitness regime ... The longer you want to run, the longer the cues and timer goes. Can you please think about this? The other C25K app has the ability to do this, but I much prefer the whole setup of GET RUNNING. Thank you again from a devoted runner :-)

Great App. I have been using this app for about 3 months (repeated a few weeks after holidays etc) and can now run 4km. It does not track distance but the calm female voice gives you clear instructions for your timed intervals. I like how each day is different once you reach 6 weeks, for example, you might run 20 mins straight one day or 8 & 5 min intervals the next. You can also listen to music or a podcast and the app pauses or lowers the volume depending on your settings.

Awesome App!. Had a knee reconstruction last year after a major knee injury at netball. Never thought I would have that awesome feeling of fitness again. I am so excited to be running. So far each progression in the program hasn't pushed me too hard but I can really feel my leg strength and cardio fitness returning. I have never really been a runner before but now I actually crave my next session. Great app and well thought out!

It’s always my starting point. Every time I’ve fallen off with my fitness or life has gotten in the way, this app has been the thing to get me back on track. I used it after my first baby, after I recovered from a broken ankle, and after my second baby. The prompts are gentle and encouraging, the runs are achievable and if you are able to stick roughly to the schedule, you’ll see great improvement in your running distance. Love it.

Best fitness start up app ever. Hi to all overweight under exercising people. Download this app NOW. It is the motivational fitness app I know of. It encourages you, guides you and helps you start to run, pain free. I was 97kg my ideal weight should be 70kgs. After 3 months of diet and walking I couldn't get under 85kgs, so I started this program. Now down to 80 Kgs after 3 weeks. I repeated week 1. I am 55 years old and ran many many miles when I was younger and thought to start again would hard and painful " no pain no gain " goodbye....

Love it - favorite app!!!. After years of trying and failing to get back into regular exercise, this app has been life-changing! Now, rather than attempting a run and either feeling horrible for getting puffed or overdoing it and being sore for days after, this app has given me clear and achievable goals that challenge me - from baby steps to the full 5k! I found that after a few sessions my fitness and overall energy had improved dramatically, as had my mood: the voice encouragement is so motivational and I find I just can't wait to achieve my next run!! Great for beginners!. A great app for people who want to start running, but do it slowly and without a great risk of injury. A lovely woman's voice plays over your own choice of music and gives you encouragement and guidance during your exercise. I like that the emphasis is not necessarily on the distance you are covering, but more about training your body to run for greater lengths of time - sure the speed and distance comes later! Would highly recommend to those who want to be able to run, but don't think you can. The steps are logical and well paced. The website also has a great forum for runners to share their experiences and ask questions.

Great app. Have used this app a couple of times to train up for 5k and absolutely love it. The nuanced workout stages work very well. Only thing missing is Apple Watch app. Please make a stand alone watch version to make my life complete!

Voice to music volume works well. Voice coach to music volume contrast levels work way better than other running apps I’ve used. Instructions don’t get lost in the music.

Love it!!. I used to be the girl that everyone would say "you!? Running!? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life", people even made bets that I would give up after the first week but here I am, just finished week 5 with a 20 minute run yesterday, wanting to tell you, that you should get this app. It's so easy to start and as long as you keep up with her you'll be able to do it! Great App - just wish so much they would make an Apple Watch version. This is my favourite running app by far and I’ve used it for years. Unfortunately I don’t find myself using it much anymore because I run with my Apple Watch rather than lugging around my phone. It makes me so sad that there isn’t a version of it for my watch. Please, please make a watch version!

Good. This app got me into running which I have NEVER been able to do. It would be good if they could pepper the run with some interesting facts, helpful tips etc, it really just helps you break up the run so you don't give up after 5 minutes. Also around week 5 I have to have a week break because I was eating like crazy and finding the runs impossible. After the break I can now run 25 mins with no problem.

Get this app. I love this app and have already recommended it to many people. Best training - makes it so easy and you notice your ability building. You don't have to think, just listen and do as you're told! Brilliant. I've used this app to get running a few times, and it's always brilliant. I wish this group made other ones of interval training and a 10k on me because this is the best running/coaching app around.

Favourite running app. Gently encouraging, human voice. I’m prone to injury but this style of building my is brilliant for minimising injury.

Great for beginners. Very good app. I had always hated exercise to the point where I simply just refused to do it. And this app has truly changed how I feel about exercise - it is simple to use with great encouragement along the way, plus works perfectly even if you're playing music. It is incredibly user friendly, as well as beginner runner friendly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to attempt to get their fitness levels up.

I can now run over 4.5km. This app really works if you stick to it. I struggled a lot in the beginning, I was in alot pain, out if breath and felt very dizzy but after repeating it I found all that started to disappear. If I found a level to hard, I simply repeated the week. I've never been a natural runner but today I just finishes my 9th week and can now comfortable run over 4.5km. So proud of myself :)

This is very good and can be re used. A very smart application. One of the reviews on this application is false. You can run and restart this 5km program as often as you like. It is simple to reset and is the greatest value app I have seen (and I have lots of them on my iPhone). I have done a lot of exercise in my life but at the moment I have become a couch potato and its time this stopped. I had a birthday last week and went looking for a running program that would softly get me out of the house and get my cardio going. This app is great. I highly recommend it. They should actually build a gift voucher option into it so you can walk up to needy people and give them a new lease on life.

Really works!. This app is great. It takes the thinking out of increasing your fitness. I found the idea of running 30 mins daunting, but now I've finished week 5 and I'm running 20 mins. The coaching is great, with a pleasant voice, and I like that I can play my music in the background. This app is very easy to use and well worth the cost - heaps cheaper than personal training fees! Fantastic, motivational, addictive!. I've tried running before and would run blindly until my lungs were about to burst. Not enjoyable and made me believe I was never going to be a regular runner! Now I'm at Week 6 and I love it! This app is seriously addictive; I now look forward to each challenge every time. I completed the non-stop 20 minute run on schedule in Week 5 which I'm very proud of! I never thought I would finish it but it's a brilliant feeling when you stick at it and push through that comfort barrier. Amazing! Get it.

I love running now!. I tried other Couch to 5km apps before settling on this one. I love the voice overs a d how they break the run up. I also like that I can opt to repeat previous rubs if I've had a hectic week and not been able to keep to the schedule. I look forward to running with this app after thinking for years I wasn't the type for long distance running. Try it and you won't regret it.

Awesome!! Has changed my life!. I haven't done any exercise since I had my beautiful girls 4 years ago. This has been the perfect program that gradually challenges and encourages you to keep improving, whilst enjoying your own music. The 30min length of program is also ideal for a busy mum trying to squeeze in a workout. I never thought I would be running 20mins straight after only 5 weeks!!

Excellent app in every way. This is an extraordinarily well-designed, smart, and user-friendly app that really did get me running for 30 minutes in 9 weeks. I am 62 years old and gave up running in my 20s because of knee injuries. Using GetRunning has worked so well: no injuries (thanks to the brilliantly thought-out pacing of the program) and I can't stop boring everyone with the details of my achievement. I'm recommending this to everyone I know. I'll keep running but, gee, I'm gonna miss Claire. What a brilliant choice of voice-over artist!

Exactly what I needed. Well-paced and encouraging for the rank beginner, like me. I strung out the program a bit, but I was running longer than the goals by week 6. Week 7 and 8, I ran over 45 minutes each run. More important, it's taught me to look forward to my runs. I've always hated running, and now I can't wait for the next one! The absence of distance tracking is not a realproblem; the program focuses you on time. I am curious about the distances, and I'll move to another app now. But this one did its job well. Perfect for its purpose.

Great motivator!. I had just started trying to run and was finding it hard to push myself, so I downloaded this App. As a beginner, it was fabulous! It runs in the background so you can have your music on while you look at the image of how far you have to go. The voice prompts and encouragement are really helpful. Knowing that I have something to work to helps so much and I'm so proud of myself when I've achieved another level! 100% worth buying!

Week 3 and still loving it. I've loved this app since I started a couple of weeks ago but thought I'd wait a bit to check I stuck with it before writing a review. It's really supportive and straight forward, and although it sometimes doesn't feel like I'm improving because I don't get as puffed when I run now, I must be getting fitter because I'm running for longer distances. It therefore has been successful in incrementally increasing my running stints without me noticing. I'm using it to train for a 5km fun run and all is on track so far. Only possible suggestion would be to have a GPS system so I would actually know how far I'm running, as everything is measured by time and not distance.

Love the voice!. She has the perfect voice, such a nice pitch and tone, very encouraging and comforting. The only thing I would say is that, having injured myself a few times, you need to do each week 3 times over before moving on to the next week as per my health professionals, especially if starting from a base fitness of a complete couch potato to prevent injury. Also, I struggled with the jump from 20 mins to 25 mins in the last weeks, I needed something in between, like 23 mins. Otherwise, love this app!

Best fitness app!. I used to be really fit and years on the couch neglecting my fitness meant I could barely run 1 minute without gasping for breath. I would push myself thinking I could run like I used to and then give up out of frustration. Get running changed all that by gradually bringing my fitness back up step by step. I now really look forward to my runs and being able to meet the challenges that the app sets. Brilliant brilliant brilliant app. Awesome job!!!!

Safely healhtier and fitter. This app really works for me. I am overweight and out of shape and really need to find a simple practical way to get some cardio vascular fitness without all the preaching and rah rah. This app is just so well thought out and executed that doing it is very easy. I have my chosen music playing in the background and the prompts let me know how much time it is before the next change happens. And I can and do pause the program where I need to so I am not running uphill and taking me into overexertion that I am not ready for. Well done. This can and will help so many people slowly but steadily and safely become fitter and healthier.

Amazing. I am over 60. Since January, I first lost 15kg by walking 10,000 steps per day, reducing portion sizes and cutting in-betweens. Then I started "Get Running". Week 1 Day 1 was the hardest day. Since then the programme has been well paced but not easy. I have now completed the nine week programme and on my third 30min run (read jog) I broke 7min/km (average) for the first time. I have also lost a further 8kg - I am still a bit overweight. The app is beautifully simple. If you are looking for lots of stats look elsewhere or wear a watch. Like others I found the voice encouraging. A year ago I would never have imagined I'd be able to jog for 30min without a rest. If I can do it, anyone can. Simply incredible!

Close to being a perfect App!. Absolutely fantastic App. Very well thought out. It works perfectly with music in the background and provides great encouragement along the way without going over the top. It is just like having a running buddy or coach with you all the way! Well worth the price, especially if you think how much it could cost you in physio bills if you overdo your running before your body is ready for it.

Fantastic app. I needed to get fit but don't have much free time so thought running could be an option. I was apprehensive about starting but this app leads you through so well. I like that I can play music and the app coach talks through it, that it pushes me with each run but that the runs are achievable, and that the app coach gives enough instruction without going overboard. Thanks to this app I'm fitter and weight is just falling off! 5 star app!!

Can't believe I did it.... This is a seriously great app. I had done no exercise for over 10 years so at 38 years old I decided it was time. This app took me from walking to running over 5km in 30min. I took it slow over about 4 months and re-run a few of the weeks when it got too hard. I still can't believe I can cruise through 5km. This has turned me into a runner. I now have my sights set on 10km! Give it a go...

Turned me into a runner. This app really works. I was a complete sedentary person, but completed the program (took way longer than 9 weeks) and three years later am still running every week. Never would have thought that would be me! It's a really motivating system. Looking back after a couple years of running and that first 20 minute run is still one of the hardest things I've ever done. Persevere and it is worth it!

Love it!. Love how Im no longer focusing on my watch to time myself! it lets me just throw on a playlist as go! Time flies - and I feel so good afterwards! The motivation is great and its nice having the plan laid out to follow - having the dates come automatically really helps me keep at it and feel accountable. I'm amazed how far I've come in just a month! Get off the couch and try it - that 30 minute TV show isn't near as good for your heart, health, and happiness :)

Amazing App. I downloaded this app because of the reviews. I wanted to get running but the options for apps were overwhelming. This one earned every single star. It has a user friendly interface and a well set up program that lets me adapt it to my needs (I'm a shift worker so I cannot always run at a set time). I highly recommend it to everyone!

Best C25K App Ever. Love this app - one of the cool features is that you can go back and re-run past weeks at any point, so if you need to re-start or just need to re-do a week, you can. For the GPS, get the Nike Running app (it's free -- tracks your GPS, miles, and notes on the run) Unfortunately, they don't plan a 5k-10kapp :(

Wow. I am not a runner. I am not athletic. I have never stuck to ANY workout program I have started. EVER. I have just finished my 5th week. I could not be prouder of myself and am so thankful for this app. It was the only c25k app I have tried but I have never regretted it. I feel good, I never feel like I was pushed "too far too fast", and the coach is motivating without being annoying. Just the right amount of encouragement. I love that I can play my own music, change my music, run other apps at the same time (I also run the Map My Run app). I also wasn't ready to move up to week 4, reran week 3 with No issues. If you aren't sure if this app is what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed!!

Just what it took to get me running!. A more complex app would have put me off. Now, this one has just the right amount of prodding and gives me the info I need when I need: when to run and when to walk/stop. I just wish the timer would not stop when I go back to a different app (to switch music for instance).

Needs a mute. There's these new things out called PodCasts. People listen to them. Your app is great, but it needs an option for no prompts. It's really annoying to have the voice over talk for a full minute right over a punchline in a podcast.

I can run!. Being a walker (aka non-runner) i find this app is challenging but the gradual increase in difficultly is allowing me to progress. The coaching is encouraging but not annoying and the settings available are great. Thanks!

This app delivers. It just works. Brilliantly.. Up front: I have no affiliation with anybody involved with this app. I bought it on a whim, started with the coach's prompts to do 1-minute jogs (spaced apart with 90-second walks), took to the program like a fish to water and -- nine weeks/levels later -- I have completed my 30-minute running target this week, no problem at all. It just works -- beginning to end. It's amazing what the human body can do with this well-thought-out quality of coaching and encouragement. I had never thought myself a runner, and this app proved me happily wrong. Sure, the program starts easily -- walk/trot, walk/trot... But keep going and your strength, enthusiasm and enjoyment builds in steady increments -- with lots of off-days to recover. It's just the right blend of activity and rest to make you say, "Yeah, I can do this," and discover that you can ... reach the goal of a half-hour run in just over two months of steadily-increasing, confidence-building exercise. It worked a charm, and you can use the app while easily playing your own music (I like to listen to comedy/talk podcasts -- but you might prefer rhythmic music). At regular intervals, with the app's super-encouraging and professional human voice cuts in with encouraging updates on your time and -- joy of joys -- when you get to slow to a walk, stretch and go home, head held high. It was just what I needed. Get the app and get off the couch. Later, sitting back down on that couch -- after a wonderfully-guided run -- will feel like a reward for a good job done. Got me off the couch. I really was a couch potato. I thought I hated running. I'm in week six of the program and have been so successful I've signed up to run my first 5k next month. I look forward to my morning runs and am so proud every time I've finished. The pacing is perfect! It's just challenging enough to keep me working but I've never had to stop and walk when I'm supposed to be running. The trainer gives just the right amount of encouragement that I need on each run. I have never been a self-motivator when it comes to working out so, knowing I just have to start the app and go has saved me a lot of stress. This app is for EVERYONE!. I've read the reviews and the forums for this app and have seen countless stories about those who literally are going from couch to 5k... However I started using this app simply to add to my workout plan! I'm only about 5lbs from my target weight and just want to tone up. Taught me to run!. This app is fantastic! I have never, ever been able to run. It didn't matter if I was in shape or not, I've just never been a runner. When I first bought this app I was overweight and could not run for more than one minute at a time without feeling completely winded and tired. I started following the app, and the voice-over encouragement was really helpful. It's great that it tells you when you're halfway through, how much longer to expect to go, and encourages you to push through when you might be tired. Even me, a chunky monkey, is now a runner!. This app did it. I've tried other apps before; printed out running schedules, bought books, listened to podcasts. I would shuffle for a little bit - a few days, maybe a few weeks - then I would slack off and before you know it, I was cemented to the couch again. This app did it! It is easy to understand at a glance, easy to use and the paced bits of encouragement really do help. I am into my 4th week and am starting to lose weight. Great, right? That's not the best point - the best part is that you actually enjoy yourself as you go through the run/walk intervals. Well, the first week is more work than fun, but beyond that initial shock of getting your body used to moving on a regular basis, the running is really cool. You feel proud of yourself. As a fat woman looking to let her inner thinness out, that's a major stepping achievement. I heartily recommend this app.

I love this app! (sorry this is so long). Since I was a kid I have never been able to run. About a year ago I decided I needed to lose weight and started working out but never had the stamina to get very far. After a check up with my doctor I found out that I have exercise induced asthma! I was put on an inhaler and 5 weeks ago I got this crazy idea that I wanted to run. I didn't think I would get far but I figured what the heck. A friend told me about this app so I gave it a try. I just finished week 5 run 1 today and was able to run 5 minutes at a time! I never thought in million years that was possible! And I would never have been able to do it without this app! I can't wait to get to the end and be able to run for half an hour straight! And to top it all off I have already lost 15 pounds :)

Great for people who think they can't run!. I had tried to establish a running routine on my own with no success several times in the past year--kept quitting, didn't run at all for weeks (months!) at a time, never able to run for more than a mile, frequent shin splints, side pains, out of breath constantly, just in terrible shape! At the time I purchased this app two months ago, I was thirty pounds overweight, couldn't run more than 5 minutes at a time, and was ready to give up. I followed the program religiously from day one (including rest days and stretching) and am now running 3-3.5 miles in 30 minutes 3-4 times a week PLUS I've lost nearly fifteen pounds. First official 5k is this Thursday!! Brilliant!! If want to run but think you simply can't, get this app NOW!

Great App !. I'm surprised this App isn't more popular than the other similar training Apps. I tried the top selling "Couch to 5k" App before I purchased this one, and I can say this one is much nicer to use. The continuous female voice remiders are very helpful, encouraging almost, I didn't think they would make a difference on my run, but they do. I also like how it alerts you of a halfway point in your run in case you are running outside and how it pauses your music when reminders are played instead of playing them over your music, which makes them hard to hear and understand. Overall a simple to use and well developed app. I highly recommend it over the others, I am very happy with it.

Very Helpful and Reliable. I am 55 yrs old and have never been a runner. This app has been so helpful in getting me off the couch! I am using it on a treadmill so far and have completed the first 3 weeks of runs, amazed at my ability to increase the length of my runs each week. During week 1 I thought, "piece of cake". In week 2 I was impressed by my ability to extend each run by 50% and still feel great. Week 3 scared me - I was not able to finish the entire run or maintain my 5MPH speed. I was really disappointed that I may not be able to reach my goal of running a 5K. But when I did the 2nd run in week 3, I was able to complete both runs and maintain my speed! It really boosted my confidence, although I'm still intimidated by the increasing running times. I've never been able to run a 5K before, but I have hope for the first time ever. I plan to stick with it, even if I have to repeat a week to get there! I love this app because I can listen to my iPod while running the app, which overrides the music with training with time updates. I like the nice British voice, much more enjoyable than the obnoxious trainers on my Wii Fit Active :)

Best C25K app.. I bought this on a whim about a year ago after first hearing about the C25K program, and I'm so glad I did. It has been invaluable. I'm only on week 4 thus far, but this app is great - it's attractive, functional, and customizable. I love that you can repeat weeks and that you can play whatever music. Really, ANYONE can do this program. It's not easy (especially for a fat former couch potato like myself) but it's doable, and it makes you feel like you've accomplished something each and every run. Tip! Turn the coaching to "just activity changes". When I'm just getting over huffing and puffing and getting in the "zone", it's really distracting to hear how many minutes I have left. If you're like me, this might make it easier for you.

Great app!. This app gives you 9 weeks of alternating between walking and running. It allows music to be played in the background and has a pleasant female voice alerting you to when you can run or walk again. The program consists of a 5 minute walking warm up and cool down and then gradually increasing the amount you run with less walking as the weeks progress. She lets you know how much more you have to go at the halfway point during a running period as well as 10 seconds to go. She lets you know when you are halfway through your workout so you know if you need to turn around. Her prompts and encouragements have been timely and when I needed them. Knowing I only had 10 seconds left encouraged me to keep going. This app is totally worth it!

Changed my life!. I was never a runner, and I never imagined I would be. I didn't even have any interest in becoming a runner. I was nearly 300 lbs, and began riding my bike to work to try to lose some weight. But living in Minnesota, I would hibernate in the winter, gaining back any weight I had managed to lose during the all-too-short summer. The first bike ride to work of a new summer felt like it was going to kill me. So in October of 2009, I decided I would run on a treadmill over the winter to maintain some amount of cardio capabilities. It was definitely difficult at first, but this application kept me motivated. Somewhere along the way, something magical happened: I actually learned to like running. Even to love it. Nearly 2 years later now, I am 174 lbs ( in my ideal weight range). I am now up to1.5 hours of continuous running, and have a completely different life than I would have without this app. Since I now run much longer than the .5 hour top end on this app, I do not use the app anymore, but I do miss it every time I run. Such a fantastic app! If you want better physical fitness in your life, this app WILL help! Give it a chance, stick with it, and it will pay huge dividends!

so far, awesome!. I am in poor physical shape (haven't exercised regularly in years...appx 190lbs, 5'5") and decided to buy this app and a pair of good running shoes. my first run (8 one-minute long runs) was difficult half way through, but I finished.. and every one since then has been doable, if not easy! I just started week 3..which includes 3 minute runs... I was so scared I wouldn't be able to do it, but it wasn't hard!!! I can't believe that in two short weeks I went from huffing and puffing after running 60 seconds, to running for 3 minutes with relative ease. Get the app, it makes the "couch to 5k" program very easy to manage and you can play your music (iPod,pandora) in the background. Do it do it do it!

Love this app!. Just did W4 D3 today! Unbelievable that I can run! Love the prompts! So encouraging. What makes this C25K app stand out above the rest is that I can listen to my own music or podcasts or audio books and the prompts to run or walk play on top!!!! Also like the tweet function! At first I had it turned off but as I gained confidence in my ability to really do this I decided to turn it back on. Now, after every run it tweets to my twitter account which in turn retweets to my FB page! the encouragement and support I receive from the posts pushes me to keep going! Thinking of going from the couch to being a runner??? Then you need this app!!!! Update - W7D2 - Still amazed!! Now running 25 minutes at a time. A great app!. I've been a cyclist for a long time, but as I've gotten older I find it harder to fit long rides into my schedule. I could really stand to lose about 30 lbs, and even though I've always hated running, I decided it would be easier to get a few 1/2 hour runs each week than a couple of multi-hour rides. My first run was aimless and clueless, and it HURT! I had NO idea how to go about it. Then I thought "wait a minute! I have an iPhone!". A quick search later, and I had downloaded "Get Running". I LOVE it! I just finished my second run of week five, and I've lost 12 lbs. I'm starting to see how MAYBE, POSSIBLY a person might actually get to where they ENJOY running. I'm not there yet, but I intend to stick with it. Five weeks ago I didn't know if I would be able to. This app has made all the difference!

This app is amazing. It will help all you beginners and intermediates run for 30 continuous minutes. This app is wonderful. It gives you coaching and motivation to get off your behind and out the door. the prompting really helps for a person who has the desire.. but needs a kick in the pants to get it done. The program is smooth... gradually increasing your running times while still giving you resting times to recover. It is one of the most polished apps I've had from the app store.. and I will only pay money for apps that rock. this one certainly does. As for some other reviews... which complain about distances being measured incorrectly... I'm sorry but this program is not about distances. this app does not measure your distances.. nor does it purport to. The main goal of this app is to get you from not running at all.. to running 30 continuous minutes in just 9 weeks. It accomplishes this goal with flying colours. It manages not only your own program -- but can also be configured to keep the programs of multiple runners within the app. each week you are set a new standard and you can redo any run that you feel you need to. Do not be deterred, if you have the desire to become a real runner.. this is the app to get you from no running.. to running easily for 30 minutes. It is worth every penny. I have recommended it to to no less than 5 other friends who also use it and have seen great results. You cannot go wrong with it. trolls not withstanding.

Thank you Get Running!. I am not a runner nor had I ever thought I'd become one. GetRunning has been a tremendous help in getting me back on a healthier track. I quit smoking almost a year ago and the weight soon followed. As part if my New Years Resolution I bought this app and thought I'd give it a go. Fabulous! It's not intimidating nor preachy nor over zealous. It is perfect for the beginning runner and after three weeks I'm starting to lose weight (people are noticing), the running is getting easier and I've already signed up for my first 5k after umpteen years. CHANGED MY LIFE!!. I have always been a fairly active, moderately fit person, but when it came to running, I couldn't make it three minutes! This ap paces you so that it's challenging, but never impossible! Even when you think you can't, you can! The training really gets you ready. It took me 14 weeks instead of 9, but I never would have thought I could call myself a runner. I don't need a gym membership and I don't need to waste 30 minutes of time driving there and back! Now, I love running! I have better self-esteem, more energy, a better outlook and I'm so proud of myself! I tell everyone what a difference this ap makes! I could never have run for 30 minutes without it. This ap alone made the purchase of my iPhone worth it...seriously! Thank you to those of you that made it!

Ran my first 5k!!!. I’m not one to write reviews, but this app was so outstanding, so life changing, that I had to take the time to share my thoughts. I am 61 years young. 6 months ago I thought I would die after running for only 60 seconds. But this cheerful British voice encouraged me to run just a few seconds more and to my surprise and pride, I completed my first “run.” Feeling a bit fearful of exercise, I was able to repeat weeks and use the app more slowly until I felt comfortable moving to the next level. And gradually, week by week, I lost my fear of exercise, as I began to see my very real improvement, and I began to look forward to each run. Last weekend I ran my first 5k - and RAN the entire 3.1 miles, never breaking my stride. Tears were streaming down my face as I crossed the finish line and a medal was placed around my neck. And I used the app throughout the race, feeling comforted and encouraged by the prompts that kept reminding me that there was just a little bit more to run and that I could do it. 6 months ago I was huffing and puffing after 60 seconds of running. Last weekend I was breathing comfortably and able to talk after 3.1 miles of continuous running. When I turned 60 I thought I was looking at the end of my life. Thanks to this app I am in my best shape ever, and feel like I’m just getting started. I tried many other running apps before settling on this one. The timing of the prompts were perfect and worked seamlessly with my music. The voice began to feel like a dear friend, with just the right mix of friendliness and encouragement. I would never have gotten this far without it. On to 10k!! To the developer - where’s your app for that? And... thank you for giving me my life back. Very grateful. 🙏♥️🙏

Really gets the job done!. This app is fantastic. It syncs well with my music (I love how the music fades out while the trainer speaks), and she only gives the information you need. When I'm tired and running, I just want to hear how much longer I have to run, not an automated voice telling me I did a good job... And the creators of this app completely get that. The week to week programs are realistic and allow you to really feel a sense of accomplishment. I like the built in warm up and cool down period, too. I've recommended this app to three others and they, too, have purchased it and love it. I'm in an all-women's running group and most of us use this app. I hope there is a follow up app for 10k's, and half marathons at some point, if there isn't already. Nice job!

OMG I just ran for 20 MIN!. I've tried for *years* to stick with a running program long enough to build up my endurance beyond a 2 minute run. This app is the first thing that has worked. "Sheila" (as we call her) is very encouraging, and the scheduled graduated interval training gives you a way to gauge your progress, and lets you know that you are actually making progress. I've had to repeat weeks on several occasions when I couldn't complete a run or just didn't feel ready to move up (I'm very out of shape), but I made sure that I never moved "back" in weeks, only forward, and it worked out, and I'm so excited to have completed week 5 this morning. I've never run continuously for 20 minutes in my life -- until this morning :) From a technical standpoint, I've had no problems with this app. No crashing, it works great, and is easy to use. And I'm so very glad I found it. --Holly

Lifestyle Changing App. I don't write many reviews, but this app is fantastic. I've been considering running for some time, but hadn't done any real cardio work in a decade. I tried a couple free running apps and was just about ready to give up when I bought this one. 6 weeks later, the improvement in my cardio is nothing short of amazing. There's no secret formula to the running program, but this app lets you put on your music and takes you through the days/weeks effortlessly. If you want to get in shape or start running but feel like you're too far gone or don't know where to start, this app will guide you through and make it as painless as possible. The only downside is it doesn't give you your total distance/calories burned/etc. (if that's important to you), but I run RunKeeper alongside it and they make a great pair. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

It helped me return to running.... I am just about to begin my final run of the ninth and last week of the Get Running program. This app gently brought me back, after at least 12 years, to running. By running, I mean running for as least 30 minutes, and for at least 2 miles. I am already able to comfortably run longer than 30 minutes, and farther than 2 miles. This is an achievement that I was not able accomplish in all those 12 years before using this app. I'm sure it is not the most intelligent tool available, but it does what it does competently. I will not, as personal rule, give more than four stars, as there is always room for improvement. However, I can say it is my opinion that this app has earned each of those stars. I would recommend this app to anyone who either wants to get started running, or has been away from it for a long time as I had. I'm going out to graduate - I am now a runner.

fantastic implementation. very good execution. simple, straightforward, effective. just press one button and you're running. keep your music playing in the background, fades in and out automatically when the app needs to tell you something. I got this app so that I could build up my distances gradually. currently on week 3 with no knee pain at all. thanks! **follow up 9/12** a couple years later, I can say that this app changed my life. running is now a real passion for me. I usually do 20-30 miles a week. getting started with running also led me to taking better care of my diet. I'm down about 50 pounds from where I started. thank you, get running for sending me on my way to a healthier, happier life!

Week 5 jumps run times unrealistically!. I really have liked this app for the most part, but something I find common to many apps like this is that they progress reasonably for about the first four weeks, and then jump running times unrealistically, even when you have absolutely been keeping up and working it faithfully. Example: Week Five, Day 1 has 5 min warm up walk / 5 min run / 3 min walk / 5 min run / 3 min walk / 5 min run / 5 min cool down. Week FIve, Day 2 goes to 5 min warm up walk / 8 min run / 3 min walk / 8 min run / 5 min cool down. And then Week Five, Day 3 has a 5 min warm up walk, / 20 straight minutes of running / and a 5 min cool down walk. That's a HUGE jump in one week. And frankly, it makes me feel like quitting. I thought the point was to gradulally build up your endurance and skill. Debating about switching to a different app, or just parking on Week Three and living there. . . Are there ANY apps out there that really are suitable for middle-aged, non-athletic people who are working at liking exercise and being healthier? Thanks for a good first four weeks anyway. :-/

PERFECT TRAINER!. I seriously could not ask for more in a running app! This app seriously changed my life! It is the perfect trainer for someone that has been sitting and is out of shape to get back into shape quickly but steadily without gettin overwhelmed! Each run is perfectly spaced on this app unlike most other apps I never felt like I needed to redo a week/run I felt the next run would be a challenge but always could handle it! Perfect in every way! Love how it tells you to turn around half way, love the voice, love the encouraging words from a non digital voice!! Something about this app is amazing five of my friends are now using it! I would love the next 5-10k version of this same format! I'm using one now and let's say no where near as good as this app was. LOVE THIS APP!!

Great App!. I spent a few days going back & forth about which c25k app to get. Despite not having the GPS, I purchased Get Running because it had the better reviews. I'm so glad I did. It works perfectly. I'm starting week 4 and I love it. It builds you up gradually so you're not intimidated or overwhelmed. I can't wait for each run and I'm so proud each time I run for a longer period of time. I use this with the Nike + GPS app that I already owned, so I'm still getting location & pace information. The two apps work great together. I canceled my unused $30/month gym membership & am so happy to be running outside. Get Running works perfectly & is well worth the couple of dollars. If you're torn, I promise that you won't be disappointed with Get Running!

Great for beginning runners or those getting back into running after a long break!. This is a great app! Slowly builds your endurance. I am on week 5 & just ran 3 5 minute runs. Feel great not too tired. I have a tendency to start running with a bang but then i fizzle out bc i am either too sore or too tired. I am neither now & know that i will b able to do a 5k soon. I like the voice & her encouraging words. Just the right amount of energy - not annoying like other fitness apps. If you r or were a strong runner this is not your app. Great for new runners or people getting back into running but were never strong. It is slow at first so if you work out regularly you will have to do other things as this will not b enough.

Great app, no complaints. I read reviews of other apps before I bought this one and the number of positive reviews blew me away. I have never run before in my life, but I was getting bored with yoga/pilates and I have a great running trail one block away. I had no excuses and when I heard about C25K, I decided to try it. By the second run, I was hooked. I look forward to running, which I never expected. Buy this, you won't be disappointed! To address the complaints about music not working, as it says in the information when you buy it, you start your music first and then push run. You double-touch the home symbol to access your music while in the application.

Love this!. This is exactly what I was looking for. I just got back into running after a 2-3 year break and wanted to use the method of walk/jog intervals. I was doing it manually for 2 weeks which is a real pain to keep watching the watch. I stumbled on hearing about this app and now I get voice prompts to do the same thing - LOVE it! I wished for something like this but never imagined someone went beyond "wishing" and wrote an app for it! I've had to do the reset method once (delete app from phone, sync, then re-sync it back on). I do look forward to upcoming features of being able to manipulate the past workouts (reset/start over). I would also love to see a feature for selecting the dates (instead of opening with today's date). And, maybe one day, be able to create your own workout lengths - I run for 45 min and just start this over at the 5 min cool down. This may go beyond the original intent of this app though!

Love it, but could use an edit. I really love this app for the most part. It has helped me lose a bunch of weight and feel really strong because I've gradually worked up to being able to do something I never could've done a few weeks ago. There is one thing I would change, and one concern. I would change it so that you can set it so it actually pauses your Music or Podcasts, rather than just talking over it. Because it doesn't pause it, you can't really listen to a podcast without having to rewind it every time she speaks. The concern I have is that one of the weeks jumps ahead endurance-wise. It goes from interval running to a 20 minute straight run, back to interval running. I was able to do this, but I know that seeing a 20 minute run could really discourage other people who maybe need to build up more before they can run for that kind of time.

I'm a runner! (Thanks to this app!). First heard about this app from Charlie Brooker's write-up in the Guardian. I've never run. Always thought people who did were just built differently. Never wanted to. Never thought I could. Now I can and I do! If you're as unfamiliar with running as I was, the first few weeks will be difficult but you can do it. Keep at it. Those heavy, clumsy legs will start to feel springy and agile. After a little while enjoyment sets in. Then surprise when you find you *can* run your first 20 min. session (when perhaps previously you thought you couldn't run further than to the end of the block - on a good day). Before you know it you'll find yourself feeling cranky if you're not keeping up with a regular routine. Just invest in a good pair of shoes and get some advice on stride and technique before you start. This app changed my life. Can't recommend it more.

OMG!!. I used running to quit smoking. The first several times (I went out without this app)I came back hating running. Although I stuck with the no smoking, I avoided running because everytime I went out, I came back feeling like crap. My lungs would feel like they were on fire. I now know its because I didnt know how to properly run. Id just start and wouldnt stop until I was keeled over trying to breathe. Id walk home beat. Then I found this app. I didnt know what to expect. I was going to give it one last try. The first time I went out, July 2010, I turned on the Ipod, then this app. A sexy voice with a british accent came through the music and coached me through my run. Telling me when to run and when to walk. At first, I felt that it was a little too easy, but half way through, she would inspire me, It started to get hard, but she would tell me (your half way done!) and I wouldnt stop. (I didnt want to disappoint her :P) By the time I got home, I felt great! Energized and didnt feel beat. I actually couldnt wait for the next run. In fact, I now look forward to hearing that inspiring voice and I dont think I could ever run with out her. For real. This is the best thing that happened to me. Still smoke free!

My iPhone is my workout machine!. This app is wonderful. I'm six weeks in to the program and have lost over 20 pounds mostly due to this app. I love the interface. I like seeing where I am in the workout, quickly and easily. I like how the voice pauses my music to tell me what to do next so I don't miss anything in my podcasts. I love the implementation of the Couch to 5k program. The only thing I don't like is that I'm going to outlive this app in a few weeks and I really want more! All I could really ask for is a) More workout programs to either help maintain a regular running schedule or move on to longer runs and b) Distance to help me know how far I've run rather than just how long.

Life changing - it was a miracle!. This has been life changing. I hated hated hated hated running before this. I've tried everything. My doctors have told me that I need to start running to build up my bone density, otherwise I'll have problems later in life, and still, I couldn't get myself to commit to a running schedule, deterred by the extreme discomfort I felt when running. I would see other runners - people who could run 5k, half marathons, etc and I simply believed that they were of a different species. I have now completed the program and can easily run for 30 minutes. The routines and designed to build up your endurance slowly. You get pushed slightly but not so much that you feel you are too close to your pain threshold. The voice prompts are encouraging but not patronizing, and you feel yourself progressing with each run, which makes it easy to feel motivated. Technically, the program is simple, user friendly, and flexible enough to work easily with other programs (ie. playing music, etc). I've lost 5 kilos, feel really energized, empowered, happier and excited about doing exercise. Thank you get running!

You have to try it!!. I have always disliked running! Even when I was in my best shape, I just didn't care for it. My husband & I decided to try this app because of the great reviews. We are In Week 6, and our 10 year old daughter is doing it with us. (My husband and daughter are already in good shape) We LOVE it!!!!! It is definitely taking me from very very little physical activity,due to health problems, to running! The first week I thought there was no way I could make it to week 2! But to my surprise I did. And now in week 6 I am amazed at the transformation! The slight increases by the week are just right making you push yourself just beyond what you thought you could do. We are going to run a 5k as a family the week after we complete the training program. I never thought that was a possibility for me. Anyone who is considering this app, please do it for yourself!! It is the best 2.99 I have ever spent :-) it feels great to accomplish something like this!! Enjoy :-)

Excellent. I am only in my 4th week but it has been great. The change in effort from week to week has been manageable for a non active user. Don't try to push just complete each cycles requests and you will be able to go further by the week. I have a tendency to overdo it right away and get injured quickly. This time I am just go to plug away til enough base is built up. I will have to say sometimes I wish there was a little less prompting but it does have a variable in the settings page I could change. I was a little hesitant til I can run a little further. Nice app. If you are an info junkie, this isn't the app for you. If you want a simple program to get off the couch and get going, it is great!

This app was the best thing that has ever happened to me (no exaggeration). I have always wanted to be a runner but never knew how or where to start. I can't say enough good things about this program!. I love how it builds up and helps you gain stamina. I never thought I would ENJOY running! You can listen to your music while running which is a HUGE deal for me. When it notifies you it pauses your music (with an amazing british womens voice lol) and then resumes. I have had no issues with it so far! I am on week 4 and going strong! If your looking to make a step towards becoming more healthy or bettering your life then you need this app in your life! If you don't believe me then go read all of the wonderful reviews! My only small little bitty complaint is that there are no music toggles on the screen. I have to exit the app in order to skip to the next song but that's just me being nitpicky :-)

Best C25K app on the iPhone. I own all three C25K apps available in iTunes at the moment, and this is my favorite. The prompts letting you know when you are halfway done running each segment (halfway!), and then when you are 30 seconds from the end, etc., is the killer feature. The other apps only tell you when to start and stop running, and give you a single overall halfway point. Its countdown clock is also clearer. My only complaint is that it does not seem to allow you to repeat days in a week. They really need to fix that because sometimes you are not yet ready to move on after the three days of training. I switch to one of the other apps if I need to repeat a day or two. But I always miss the features of this app when I do. Great app. Hope they plan to develop one for moving from the 5K to the 10K.

Worked awesome for me. I signed up for a 5K that was about 10 weeks away and started doing a couch to 5K program when a friend mentioned she had used an app. I looked at a bunch and picked this one and paid for the full 9 weeks based on reviews. I found it easy to use and a lot easier than constantly figuring out how many more minutes of running I had issuing the treadmill clock. Also on the days that I ran outdoors it was exactly what I needed so I didn't have to track the time on my watch or cell phone. The app worked well with my music running in the background with one glitch (in my opinion). If I started running and then started the music it would pause the time on my app. If I started the music first there were no problems. Just something to keep in mind.

The "New Me" App. I have never been able to run beyond the end of my driveway without being totally winded . Even after some regular exercise at the gym running was beyond my abilities. I'm starting week 5 and I already feel like I've developed new "powers" - I see the progression in my fitness level, it's an amazing feeling both physically and mentally. The app itself is very simple and well thought out. The voice that prompts over my own music is pleasant and encouraging and it's helpful to hear when you're halfway done with a run or in the last 30 seconds. Since I run in the neighborhood I also like to hear when the entire workout is halfway done so I can head back toward home. Update Aug. 2011- I now consider myself a "runner" and run several times per week and have extended my distance quite a bit. I recently restarted the program from the beginning with my 8yr old son to build his ability and confidence. He loves it and we're both enjoying the time together. I can't wait to see him run his first 5k!

Best App to get you running. Simple, yet effective

Perfect and fun!. I am very active.... Swim, bike, hike, tennis... But I want to be able to run 5k's. Until I tried this program everything about running was a drag. I hated the sheer boredom of it, the shortness of breath, the timing of everything - stopwatches, record keeping to map my progress etc. And then I found GET RUNNING! I love everything about it! I love the voice, all the little extra prompts and encouragement, the record keeping, and best of all the way you can listen to books or music while using the program. I have used the program in Central Park, California beaches and Backroads of Massachusetts. Looking forward to every run. REALLY HOPE THAT THERE WILL SOON BE A 10K PROGRAM. I will buy it!

If I can do this, you can do this!. I just finished the first 20 minute run of my life. In the rain. I started this app completely out of shape and without any kind of exercise routine in place. I just finished week five and can't imagine stopping now. I stick to the program exactly, I don't skip even if it is lousy weather and I give my body the two days of rest that they advocate. The voice recordings coaching me on telling me how much time I have left are really motivating and not at all obnoxious. I highly highly recommend this app. I have no doubt that I will make it all the way to the 5K finish line when that time comes! If I (the former chubby kid who was always in last place for every school run) can do this... You can, too!

I Consider Myself A Runner Now. I decided I wanted to make some basic changes in my health and hunted for an app to help me do so! I came across this app and as far as I'm concerned, it worked for me! I'm not affraid to say "I'm gonna go for a run this morning" because I know I can actually, physically do so now! * It is easy to use, it synced with my twitter and my facebook (though not simultaneously, so I had to choose one or the other, which was of no bother to me really) so I could keep the updates flowing with my progress and I was... off and running! * Simple and to the point. No extra crap bogging me down and this app is just that for me. I've used it and completed the course with the different running drills. Each week I would look at the times for my runs and walks and question my abilities but each week I was never more amazed and stoked that I completed it!! The prompts make it easy to keep your times for the runs/walks and it lets you know how many minutes you've gone/have left when you're getting closer to the goal for that session. So overall, I set out to learn to run and I did. One of the BEST apps I've paid for ... and what's a whole .99 cents when we're talking about our health? Sure beats that huge monthly gym fee, just get outside and breathe in some fresh air!

Amazing!. If I could give this app 10 stars, I would! It has changed my life and is honestly the best 3 bucks I have ever spent. When I began the program a year ago, I was quite out of shape and not very athletic. I simply kept with the runs three days a week and slowly I improved. I am now running 7 miles, four times a week with ease! I run track and cross country too, and I love it. Not to mention, I lost weight and gained muscle tone. Again, before this app I never exercised, I was not athletic at all. I believe it can turn anybody into a runner and an athlete! I recommend it to all my friends, and many of them have also had success with it. Buy this app and see where you are 5 weeks, 9 weeks, a year from now. I promise, you will not be sorry!

Simply: it works. I am 40 years old, and I have never been a runner. I had asthma as a child, so I wasn't even particularly active. As an adult, I discovered swing dancing. I love it, but I can never really dance more than 1 song at a time. I get winded. A couple that I know recommended Get Running. I am so grateful. One of the things I like is that I can re-run weeks that I find challenging before I move on. I'm at Week 4 now even though I've been running the program since before Christmas. I recommend it as a great way to introduce a cardio program. I have found myself more happy, energized and confident. Even though I still can't dance all night long, every song, I no longer have to sit out a dance because I'm sucking wind.

I cannot believe it.... I'm nearly on Week 5. At this time 5 weeks ago I would've said you're crazy if you thought I could make it this far. No it's not easy but nothing ever worth having is. Yes your shins and calves will burn. It comes at a price...you will be faster and stronger than ever before. I literally cried upon finishing this week's run. Me? A runner? Me? A person who can run 16 minutes and will sooner run a 5K? Yes! And you can too. This app is worth it's weight in gold and the best out there. The woman's soothing Aussie voice is lovely and she's encouraging in a real way. The setup is seamless and there's also a message board for others who can relate to this victory. It's there...it can be yours...now go get it!!!
