Was perfect, but now.... Now, suddenly A piece of useless crap. Displays the sun at your feet,Obviously a quirk but renders this APP completely useless. Was recently completely embarrassed at a wedding as I "whipped out my handy app"... Yeah/not so much....Time to hunt for another and spread the word about this one

Doesn’t work on iPhone SE. Simply doesn’t work. AR never shows up. Would like a refund, or some kind patch.

Needs Polish. I'm a photographer, and I hope this comes in hand. Should be able to select any date of the year and any location. Currently limited to North, South Pole, and current location. Also lacks the polish that'd you expect from a $10 app. I'd pay $3.99 for this app. Got 3 stars for being over priced for the feature set.

Great app.. Author has been extremely dedicated to fixing issues. The sun alignment is fixed and is as accurate as the iPhone compass can get. (I would not base a lone hike in the deep woods with the only iPhone compass to guide me :-) ) If you had issues with accuracy in prior releases, please re-download. It should be working fine now! But its a great app and does exactly what I need. I look forward to using it today to estimate where the sun will be for photos. Would love to see an addition to show moon position as well in a future release. Other apps keep them as a separate app. Thanks

Needs More Features for the Price. It's great at what it does, but it's a one trick pony. I'd like to see the ability to enter in a date manually. Also, it should indicate the Golden Hour, not just say where the sun will be when.

App hasn’t worked in months!!. I bought this app months ago and for the first month or so it worked perfectly. Then all of a sudden it hasn’t worked at all. I’ve waited for months and have done multiple updates for this and my phone and it still doesn’t work. It won’t let me contact anyone to resolve this situation. so I basically paid $10 for an app that no longer works. Do not waste your time with this app.

Needs work. Potentially a very useful app, but needs improvement. "Time line" seems to be consistently about 1:30 earlier than actual time. Sun postions on screen do not coincide with actual sun position at a given time. And yes, I did calibrate before using the app.

Just Great.. I've never written a review for an app but I just had to for Sun Scout. Its a absolute must have for a photographer. Works great!

not accurate at all. i tried it and blew my sunrise and sunset shot completely, waste of money

WORKS, BUT ONLY FOR DATES OF THEIR CHOOSING. Their website FAQ says: "Does Sun Scout let me see the sun for days other than today? Absolutely. You can tell Sun Scout the date in the year that you are interested in. You can't yet set a specific custom date, but we expect to add this as a feature provided there is demand." SO, I'm confused…You CAN tell it the date you're interested in (HOW?), BUT YOU CANNOT YET SET A SPECIFIC DATE. ???? And: $9.99 is WAY too expensive and they say you should calibrate it every day.

Death by iOS 9. Great app in iOS 8. iOS 9 makes the sun just spin and never stop and tell you where it actually is. I hope it gets fixed!!

App not working anymore. The app is not working anymore, I’ve tried to calibrate it several times but will not show any sun direction. Also there is to app support or contact info.

Very inaccurate when needed most. I could have really used this two days ago, but it insisted the sun was nowhere near the bright glowing object in the sky. It eventually got close enough to take an amusing screenshot showing a very wrong track. Google maps and another GPS app had me located perfectly, BTW, so it wasn't GPS error, just a bad app.

Death by OS9. This app was outstanding in all respects on my old iPhone 5. Since that phone died and I switched to a 6, the app is a complete joke. Nothing about it works; time to throw it away. Sad-- this app kept us from making some costly mistakes on video and photo shoots back in the days when it worked. Can anyone recommend an alternative?

WOW!!!! INCREDIBLE APP!!!!!. Just point your camera in the direction indicated by the big arrow. The rest explains itself. This should win a gajillion awards for usability and simplicity. I love it!!!!

Loved this app until iOS 9 killed it. Too bad it isn't getting updated any longer...

Keeps spinning. Every time I use this app it just spins and spins. My compass on my phone works perfect but the sun in this app just spins in circles every time. Sorry. I’m sure it works for others but it never works for me going to try to get a refund

Love this app. I have relied on Sun Scout for my landscape business and appreciate the update for IOS 13. It is a great tool!

very cool. A specific application of augmented reality that works really, really well. Super smooth, fast and very useful if you want to know where the sun will be coming from at any given time. You can point your iPhone anywhere and see exactly where the sun will be, and even see where it will be at different times of the year. I've been using this for apartment hunting (to see where the sun will come in during the course of the day), and it's surprisingly accurate and intuitive. This seems perfect for photographers, campers, or anyone who needs to chase or avoid the sun!!

New version 1.2 works. I've wanted this app for 17 years. Thank you.

Seems to be working now on iOS 9 and iPhone 6S. So excited to have this working again. It's the easiest app I've found for scouting for future date and sun location. Great for time lapse sunrise and sunset, but also excellent for scouting filming locations and impact of sun for time of day.

Please please fix for ios9. This was one of the greatest photo apps around. Please fix so it works with iOS9.

happy filmmaker !!!. this app has come in handy more then once this week alone. While working on a feature film called "fairhaven" the gaffer and i ( key Grip) needed to find out where and when the sun would be for a scene .... well after i pulled out my Sun scout app. everyone started downloading it !!! It is well worth it

Not Accurate At All – And Developer has Abandoned this App. There needs to be some sort of calibration setting to help make it accurate. Even with location services and Precise Location enabled, the detection of the sun is way off. This is more of a ballpark estimate than it is anything concrete / accurate. I would have hope that this would be fixed / improved upon, but it looks like the last update was over two years ago; so I think the developer has given up on this app. Save your money.

WOW!. I've had every sort of system for doing what this app does and I've checked it's accuracy against those methods, this is the real deal.

OS 9 killed it. This app has been a great help in the past but after updating my iPhone to 6s from my old 5 , the app will not work . Should I delete it & reinstall? Will I be charged again?

Neat but needs work. Works nice but has too many shortcomings for what it costs. Other apps do similar. NEEDS the option to enter any date/time I want and enter locations other than useless north or south pole. Adding the moon should also happen As is it's too expensive.

Video Production MUST HAVE!. Wow! A photographer friend showed me the app and I had to get it. This is such a great tool. I go on site at a new location and need to know when and where the sun will be. Now I do, no guessing! Which I usually messed up. Well worth the price! Awesome App!

Horrifically Overpriced And Limited. For $9.99 this app is severely over priced for the extremely limited functionality it offers. You cannot check specific dates. It only offers today and then its own selections; next month, next week etc. Very poor. Also the locations selection is a joke. It will either allow current location, or, get this; north pole, south pole and the equator! Okay! Next time I find myself at the South Pole I will whip out my iPhone and be glad I spent 10 bucks on such a useless app.

Used to love it but now it crashes. As a camera man in TV, this became an incredibly useful app for me. However, now every time I open it, it just freezes and I have to force a shut down of my phone. Very frustrating.

Love it's simplicity, want more. I love the on-screen overlay, GREAT for identifying sun obstructions throughout the day! Great app, and I find it invaluable for setting up a day's shoot. However, I am confounded by not being able to enter a date manually. It only provides 'Today' and fixed timeframes in the future like 'Next Week,' 'Next Month,' etc.

Wow, what?. Worked fine on one film production - slightly off sometimes but still helpful. Now, it always says it has interference, and then crashes my phone.

Does what it says. Great for free. Simple, but well executed app, congrats to the developers. Tested it at the beach today for umbrella placement and it was very accurate.

Sun’s path isn’t showing. I was so excited to use this to scout locations for photography but the app doesn’t work at all. Waste of $10. The app just opens my camera but doesn’t show the sun or the sun’s path at all. Just a regular camera screen. I tried calibrating and deleted and reinstalled the app. Still not working.

Needs calibration adjustment. I like the ease of use. Simple for what it is intended. I think $10 is a bit too high for allowing only 1 function. Another app like star wall has similar function with AR view and offers much more other info. The sun position does not quite align with my view. I think if a calibration tool exists it would be much better. Something like you move the overlay sun to where the sun actually is and hit calibrate.... Does not work with ios13. Please update.

Was useful, now broken. Please make it compatible with iPhone 6s. So many complaints, no visible feedback.

Ingenious app that works well. Could use more features like taking snapshots with notes and the ability to see all days in the future, present and past.

Doesnt do much, but does it well. This app really only has one function. To show you where the sun is, or is going to be. I havent had to use it much, but it works well when i do. I will agree its a bit pricy for its limited function, but if you need to track the sun you cant go wrong

Must Have!. Simply put Sun-Scout is a must have for any level of photography and videography. As a wedding and commercial photographer I’ve used this app countless times over the past 6 years - it’s paid for itself time and time again.

Awful. Such a waste of money. After hearing reviews from somebody on Instagram about this app I decided to buy it. Completely worthless I get more out of the Sun Seeker app for less money. Not being able to choose locations or a specific date makes this useless for me. At such a steep price for an app I would have expected a lot more.

Looks like the end. I’ve been using this app for years and it’s always worked well for me... until today. I just got an iPhone 11 Pro and iOS 13 and it looks to be the end of the line for the app. No updates for some time and it just doesn’t work anymore. It opens but no sun appears in the AR tracker. Too bad! But I’m glad I had years of use out of it.

Outdated … No Longer Works. This app was fine but no longer works in OS9. There is no support nor any way to get in touch with the developer to know if an update is coming or if it has been discontinued.

Stopped working. Expensive app that the maker has neglected with new iOS updates. Feeling ripped off.

Needs fine tuning. I am a gardener and knowing where sun and shade is a tricky business. The concept and interface of this app is great, but the accuracy needs lots of work.

Good App! I think it will get better..... I am a professional photographer. Just download today and tried it. Seems to work pretty good. Wish the time of day numbers were displayed bigger. hard to read, especially in bright light. That said, I think it will be very useful and seems acurate enough for my needs.

Does not work. iPhone 6splus on iOS 9 and it doesn't work at all. Should be pulled from the App Store.. Wish I could give it zero stars. Waste of $10

Works as advertised, a couple of additions would be great. I'm a lighting engineer, and this app really helps out assessing potential glare in buildings. A couple of extra features would be great though: Please show the azimuth and elevation value (as aimed) onscreen; and please add an capture button.

Broken. Not working. It mentions it in the title but I missed it. I hope it is fixed soon. Suppressed apple let this through as you have to restart you device because you can't exit the app

Simple and effective. I am in the solar business. I use this app for quickly determining if large objects are going to block the sun at any given time of year when I'm selecting a location for an array. I can pick a spot and sight over a treeline or obstacle while setting for different months of the year and make sure I will never have a shadow touch the array. It’s simple and quick. Great app!

Good app but needs improvements. I would give this app 5 stars if: - I could select exact geographical region via google maps - I could select exact date instead of being limited to the 15th of each month - there was numerical information regarding the angle of the sun and compass direction. Another great idea would be a favourites log to save ideal lighting conditions for specific areas. And perhaps an alert/alarm to remind you when ideal times approach.
