Best Available. I am a retired writer/editor. In addition, I have taught almost 40 college writing courses. WordWeb is simply the best dictionary/thesaurus combination software I have found. Not only did I recommend it for years to my students, I continue to use it exclusively for my creative fiction now. What's so elegant about this software is its single interface for both dictionary and thesaurus. A single entry returns just about everything you could possibly want to know about the word. The software even makes suggestions if I hopelessly mangle the spelling. And when my writing vocabulary exceeds my speaking vocabulary (often!), WordWeb gives me the pronunciation of the word. I also like the ability (in Windows, anyway) to open Word on one side of the monitor and WordWeb on the other. IPad's recent upgrade makes multitasking between Pages and WordWeb as easy. I am glad to have spellcheckers embedded in programs, but I find them both incomplete and inaccessible. WordWeb solves this problem. I fully recommend this software, but do buy the full version. It's well worth the money.

Best Dictionary App. Split view on the iPad is awesome. The app copies from my clipboard, so I can copy in the document I'm reading and the definition just pops up!

Thanks!. This was the fourth dictionary app I downloaded, but the first to at least provide a link to the word not included (as well as assuring me I the correct spelling: my main purpose for desiring the app as mobile search engines limit pages used, so hate to have to delete current research page just to look up word). NONE of the rest had "inbibe," which while you had no definition, it came up showing me I had indeed spelled it correctly & provided a links if I desired something further. Great job (and I rarely write reviews of apps, so NOT faint praise). I will check out any other apps you may have.

Favorite dictionary/thesaurus app. I’ve been using word web for years. I originally found out about them as part of a new creative writer’s guide to becoming a better writer during Nanowrimo 8 years ago. I would recommend to anyone whose ever wondered which dictionary/thesaurus app to use

Doesn't work. Looks like this app is broken from MacOS. Text input field doesn't allow typing.

Bookmarks!. This is a great dictionary app with an easy-to-use interface. My favorite part is keeping a list of fascinating words I come across with the “Bookmark” feature. The only drawback? I couldn’t figure out a way to carry my bookmarks over onto my new phone. I just searched for them all manually on my new phone so I wouldn’t lose my list of fun words. YOLO, I guess? The feature is clearly important to me. Anyway, I highly recommend this app.

Best Dictionary App!. So I recently switched phones and forgot what this app was called. I downloaded different dictionaries and they were all confusing. This app shows synonyms and opposites with the definition. The words are clear and not all over the place. It's simple and easy to use.

Perfect. I was looking for an app to simply check the spelling of a word. Nothing fancy. I start keying in the word and options come up. As well as the definition. It is exactly what I was looking for. Very happy with this app. And it is FREE!

Feature-rich + Privacy = Get it!. First, this app is great. I love the ability to configure how the results show up. It’s a fast, complete, and configurable dictionary. Great design, and thoughtful layout. Moreover, browse the data privacy summaries for every other dictionary. Even the ones that charge you for a supposed ad free experience still collect all your info. No thanks.

Puritan Correct. In considering any dictionary I check some obscene word to judge its level of honesty. What came up on the first word I input was a long, downright hysterical and embarrassingly self-righteous tirade about the mere existence of the word, going so far as to state that absolutely no one should consider using the word in any situation, ever, and that it is justifiably and rightly forbidden. That was the word, folks, Forbidden. Welcome to Orwell Land. The uptight school marm puritanism of much political correctness gives all progressive thought a bad rap. I’m sure the editors of this app think of themselves as progressive, but they’re actually regressive to the point of being downright victorian. Only a totalitarian mindset could come up with the “definition” I found in my query word, and not wanting to encourage anything totalitarian I definitely do not recommend this app.

Audio button doesn’t work. I make use of this app a lot. Just noticed that there is a button on the bottom right that presumably would say the word to understand pronunciation. But it does nothing.

Amazing, most probably the best dictionary available. This is no doubt the best online dictionary i have used, and I used a lot. None of the others were as precise as this. Using it for 5 years, and no doubt will use it for more. Thanks to the developers and everyone involved.

a very good tool for free. This dictionary does not give as many synonyms as the Oxford American Dictionary and Thesaurus, which came with my Mac. However, keeping in mind that the iPod/iPhone version of the Oxford American dictionary costs here $20 and that the WordWeb dictionary is free, the comparison does not make any sense. The features, which I like with the WordWeb dictionary, are “reference” and “bookmarks.” The former feature allows you to quickly access recently viewed words and the latter one lets you put a bookmark on any and every word you like. The dictionary is very fast on my iPod. While you type and search for a word, it gives you spelling suggestions. Click on the word, and here you go. Very easy to use. No advertisements so far. No landscape screen. So a bit hard to type if you have thick fingers. Nevertheless, all together, you get a very good tool for free. Thank you very much WordWeb software.

Best Dictionary App!. I have never found any app like a dictionary recently but this is the best app and also this app can be used in studies like English and many more subjects.

A bug to fix. Could you fix this bug (when you don’t allow auto-rotation in the app settings and if you open the app in landscape posture the screen would split { the keyboard is fine but the words and suggestions would not rotate}) ,please? Thanks. It’s a great dictionary.

Perfect. I personally go through dictionaries learning words as a way of amplifying my vocabulary. eDictionaries have been a goto for me to immerse myself within letters on the go. This dictionary is one I had always been searching for. Offline capability was my prime attraction and the beautiful part about it is the flexibility it gives you with finding words easily and looking up a word from another one you searched just by clicking directly on them. The UI is friendly enough and it just works. I only wish to pitch that it will be a great initiative to the developers to add a “Random” section where you can find random words, about 5, to learn their meanings. You can shake the or press a bottom to shuffle the next words and so on. I think it will really be a great feature to most users. But hey, I definitely can not complain as this app is totally free and I am loving every bit of it.

Not free!. Says free yet I was charged $.99 and shows as reoccurring on my bank statement. Is it monthly or annually? Just be up front. Disappointed.

Splendid!!. This app not only offers a wide range of services but it's also FREE. I can search obscure words with a system unique to this great dictionary with great ease. Anyhow, just as the title goes, splendid user experience. Recommended for everyone.

Great!. This is all I want from a dictionary. I first got introduced to it on my PC and then found out about the iOS version. It is free, easy to use and it has no ads. Also, the definitions are relatively simple to understand.

“Forgive” means “to grant forgiveness”???. What? And “Bubularily” means “to grant bubulariliness”, right? Huh? Wow. Depend on this app if you’d like to stay illiterate.

Great dictionary, no ads!. It’s solid. In a pinch, you can double-tap the word being looked up and from there access the built in iOS dictionary via the copy/paste/lookup popup.

best free ad free dictionary. Just what I wanted. This is the best dictionary without annoying ads and example sentences.

This is the one. I use a dictionary and thesaurus almost every day. I was searching for an app that did not collect data. It turns out WordWeb respects my privacy. And as a cherry on top, the app turned out to be fantastic. I have no complaints. This is easily my favorite dictionary app in the store. Its really well thought out in design and function. Hope it continues to improve.

Wonderful!. Finally, what I consider a real dictionary. I was sad when Apple stopped including a dictionary app with new iPhones. I really liked the simplicity of that one. Now this wonderful app comes along and is just amazing in its speed and utility. It starts up quickly, and easily links out to other reference sites to make lookups meaningful. A big shout out and thank you to the developers for this.

Wonderful reference. Been using WordWeb for several years. Easy, great functionality and best of all comprehensive. The “web” part weaves synonyms, antonyms, similar words and more into every definition. Always keep to hand when reading older works (such as Mark Twain).

It is what is says. I am giving this 5⭐ because: ✔ it is what it says ✔ I like it ✔ To help compensate for the low rating for the idiot who says it doesn't work off-line. It does, I turned off my wifi on purpose just to test it. ✔ To help compensate for the low rating from someone who is not happy about missing origins etc, you should by the 4.99 dictionary with 2 million words, this one has only 285,000. The usage is intended to be slightly different than a regular dictionary since it is based on a lexicon database.

Basic. This dictionary app is very basic and limited in scope of words, which defeats the whole point of a dictionary. I want to know the meaning of words that are new to me, not common everyday words. It would also be nice to have a history of the origins of the words. Sorry, but this app misses the mark.

Comprehensive and fast, user friendly.. Would be even better with 1. More synonyms and 2. Ability to add phrases useful phrases of our own or add notes to the bookmarked words. This would greatly help students at English!

Best Free Dictionary Available!. I have downloaded 6 free dictionarys & this one is the best by miles- I use it all the time and it is a rare event that it can't provide a definition for a word :) Keep up the great work!

Still as good as ever. Still as good as ever but it's a shame that the icon has moved away from the classic dictionary icon that has been gracing the product for years. Though not a bad icon as it does have certain appeal, but I admittedly still prefer the old icon.

Great dictionary, but it's the additional features that stand out!. I love this app's ability to look up patterns and words that have missing letters - it helps so much when a word is just on the tip of my tongue, but i don't remember it very clearly! Thanks heaps!

Super Useful but needs update. This app is perfect for a quick offline reference for meaning, pronunciation, spelling (US and UK) and particularly for crossword help in its missing letters search function BUT: I noticed that “queer” is only defined in negatively loaded terms and does not include contemporary use off the word. That sorely needs an update.

Abolutely Fantastic. Being a crossword lover and a travelling Grey Nomad - this app saves me the weight of the books and has a brilliant search function too. A definate must have!

A great dictionary at an even greater price. This is easily the best dictionary I've found so far. One of its best features is that you can click on any word in a definition and jump to a definition for that word, which is helpful if a definition contains a word you don't know. I originally had a problem with sticky keys, where the magnification of a letter on the keyboard would stay magnified, but this problem seems to have fixed itself. I've also been informed that a version 3.0 update to this app is on the way, so this might stop the problem from recurring in future.

Best app must download. There are no ads very easy to use and it great to have with you if your just having one of those day when you just can not think

Just a slight problem. Since the latest update iOS 13.0, the previous word isn’t being cleared away. Usually when you close the app down and open it back up for another word search- the previous word has gone and is clear to type the new word in. Lately the old word is still there. Please fix. A very solid dictionary, with a good layout. I use this dictionary everyday. I appreciate that it works without internet connection, giving very fast response times.

Best free dictionary app. Fast and easy to use. Integrated with several other sources. No ads. You have control over how much info is in the definition. User interface could be improved by the x-ref button being in the right rather then the left. I keep hitting it by mistake when going back.

Unable to use. It was a wonderful app when it was working. No longer able to do search as the page for search continues to close the app when you tap on 'Q'. Tried reinstalling but without success.

EveloperDay. I actually use this app just about every day. I just saw that it hadn’t had many people leaving a rating or a review so I thought I’d leave one. I have tried other dictionary apps in the past but ended up deleting them because I found this one to be the best of the ones I tried. For this reason, I’ve never tried to find a better one because it helps me with 99% of my queries.

The only dictionary you’ll ever need!. Working offline, Wordweb is wonderful. It doesn’t have a shortage of words, definitions, antonyms and anything else you can think of. It’s easy to use, informative and useful— we even use it for school work! I highly recommend this app, great work guys!!

One of my staple, must have apps!. This is an truly awesome app! I use it very regularly. I had the PC version which was pretty good, but still kinda limited because it would require me to wait half a century for Windows to load up if I wanted to find the definition of a word. But thanks to Wordweb, a definition is only a few taps away. This app has definitely made the iPhone experience complete.

This is amazing!. I have a 1000 word essay to do. I thought it was due in 2 weeks, but it was actually due in 2 days. Luckily, thanks to this amazing app! I could use extra complicated words! And guess what! I got a B+!

Handy dictionary. I haven't had any problems with this app, and it's ad free too, which is great. My only complaint is that it sometimes doesn't have the word I'm looking for.

Good for English learners. I love it, specially the Bookmark feature by which you can review your saved words. Haven't used other similar apps but this one is simple and user friendly.

So underrated. I've used this for 2+ years now. Never disappoints. Love that it works offline. Reason to why I prefer this over another popular dictionary app is because the definition of a word, would not contain/use the same word I'm searching for (or some variation). Ex: Precipitous = Resembling a precipice. This app does not do something like that. Clear and concise. Thanks!

I like it. This has been a very useful App for me. I wish that it worked like the PC version though. Best way to explain it is that on the PC version it works simular to TapDictionary. Being able to use it when you are in any App would be best.

Perfect. It’s simple, free, doesn’t have ads, and doesn’t track you. Also includes free offline and online options. If you want there’s a button to delete your search history.

Should Be Standard. This app has been in my iPhone since I had the 3s back in the day. It has only got better over time. This app should for sure come standard with ALL smartphones! Excellent app!

WordWeb Migh Be The Best. WordWeb is a great dictionary. I own a lot of dictionaries because no one dictionary has it all. But, when it comes to my iPod Touch, WordWeb comes close to doing it all. Attractive interface. Well thought out when it comes to searching a word. Easy to use. Pattern and wild card searches make it very useful for crossword solving. Even has random word searches that emulate the paper dictionary experience of some weird word catching your eye. Highly recommended.

Uhhh. I tried downloading this app, it was loading for at least a week and never installed!!!!! I even tried deleting and it wouldnt let me do tht either finally after 3 weeks the icon disapeared! Absolute crap

Time Tested and Still A Star Performer. I first stumbled on WordWeb as an .exe file almost 20 years ago. It was great then and time has made it even better. This is a must-have app.

The only free dictionary to consider. Well formatted, completely free of nuisances, accurate. Sure I have other dictionary apps (one which has a better thesaurus, another for etymology) but this is the go to for definitions. Delete that awful Ox app and get this.

Definition of irony = sarcasm?. Nice app and free. The 3 star rating is because my first "test" of the app was to see how it defined "irony" as opposed to "sarcasm". This dictionary makes no distinction between the two words so I have to wonder what other oversimplifications exist in its definitions.

Excellent app. Very quick loading compared to other dictionary apps. One suggestion, though: When cross-referencing in Google it should start with "define:" instead of just searching the word itself. e.g., "define: word" instead of just "word"

Good App, But ..... I think your app is good but, my little niece said, it wasn't a five star because she is very sad that she doesn't have the option to have it say the word anymore, so she can make sure she is pronouncing it correctly. :( She asked for me to add the sad face, so you could see how sad she is. Thank you!. This is one of the very few examples of free apps that just works and does exactly that it’s supposed to do. The developer should really think about adding an optional ‘support development’ in-app purchase, I would definitely send you some money!

Great. Pretty good with the format but make the sensibility less cause its annoying

Best. IMO, this is the best dictionary app. The only thing missing is not including a good thesaurus. They could also include better legal definitions. From my understanding Bouvier and Black’s Law dictionaries no longer have copyrights.

Not distracting like all the other dictionary apps. Sometimes I don’t feel like being fed data by a corporation when I’m just trying to learn a new word

Best dictionary app!. I've tried a few dictionary app and this wins by a far shot, best thing: NO ANNOYING ADS like other free apps.

Revert Back to Last searched word. Been using this app for so long on all of my devices. I installed it on my iPad 10.2 recently and noticed some weird behaviour. 1. It goes back to second last searched word as soon as I try to go out of app(still being inside) like opening notification menu or pulling dock icons overflow while being in the app itself. 2. While using the app in overflow mode (OVER another app, not fitting into screen along other app), it doesn’t let me search. As soon as i hit search icon, it goes back to last definition in next frame. Thanks

Perfect from the start!. When a dictionary app opened for the first time takes you to the word, "Welcome", you know someone thoughtful and caring created this. I am replacing my Merriam Webster app with this because MW is missing a lot of words, and mis-defined "demean", gave it a positive meaning I knew was never how the word was used. You gave me the definition I was looking for.

Everyone must have this app no questions asked. This app let you find many words and synonims also, pronunciation is pretty accurate thinking that everyone should download it because even when u don't have wifi enabled still find the word u look for, that is number one offline feature. Thumbs up!

Love it!. Just downloaded app. The first word I looked up I couldn't even spell. That didn't stop this little wonder from finding me the right word. I already moved it to my first page cuz I have a feeling I'll be using it a lot.... I hate not knowing definitions and now I won't have to scramble to find out thanks to this!

Best app ever but crashes on iCloud sync. Incredible dictionary -- can't say enough about it but it gets into a hanged loop every time after you enable iCloud. Please fix it, can't function without this app...

Well Worth Having. It is so navigable. Go from one word to the next with just a touch. Go back easily. Touch any word on the screen (not just the one you are looking up) and you go right to it. It is an entertainment center, especially if you are fascinated with words and their meanings.

Simple, powerful, intuitive. First time writing a review because of the joy I experienced when I finally found this wonderfully straightforward free dictionary/thesaurus. Great. Please change the icon. The white is an off white and it doesn't look very high definition, looks blurry with the retina display. Thank you for the ios4 multitasking update! That was my only comment about this app. Now, to me it is perfect.

Wordweb. I love this app. It comes in handy so many times. This is a must have app when reading books, technical articles, etc. Almost never have to use the cross reference because the built in defs. Are enough

SO helpful. I've used this probably more than any other reference app. It's just wonderful. Also great that it's device-based so there's no need for an internet connection. Really just an incredibly helpful app to have, and you can't beat the price. If you're even considering getting a dictionary app, GET THIS ONE!!

So helpful!! Excellent. I use it all the time and it's so fast and an excellent simple definition make me do my homework easier!! It also have definition of some historical area like Sumer, Mesopotamia, Fertile Crescent, etc! Thank you for the creator of this awesome dictionary!

Amazing app--good offline, too. I have an iPod touch, so being able to use this outside of free wifi is awesome. It has tons of words and great ui; everything is linked. I looked over all of the reviews and all of the low ones appear to be accidental or completely nonsensical (one talks about trying to use it to find people [????]), so you can be sure that this is actually good, not just the product of planted reviews.

Expansive, intuitive. The interface is simple, as it should be, yet includes small details that really enhance it, such as clinking a word w/in a def to look it up. I love that it works offline, and impressively, nearly every medical term I've thrown it's way yields results.

Missing a key feature, pattern matching falls short. I need help with solving crosswords. A key feature is to be able to enter a "?" for each missing letter, even if the missing letter is at the beginning or end of a word. The pattern matching in this app ignores the number of "?", and there doesn't appear to be any difference between a "?" and an "*" - the former is used to indicate exactly one missing letter, the latter is a wildcard for multiple letters. Fix this, and you get five stars!

Excellent!. Really nice ui with an extensive offline list & a remarkably easy online x-ref. It's probably all you need. The haters here don't seem to make a lot of sense. "Skewed"?? LoL. Evidently, this right wing person was offended by the definition of 'conservative' EXCEPT that's the same definition found everywhere. Typical. "Puritanical"?? I couldn't find any evidence of such. "In-store apps"?? Yep it has them but going without doesn't affect much AND they do add value Disregard the haters & get this.

Best dictionary app I have ever tried. I use a dictionary daily and tried more than a dozen free and paid apps on various devices. This one is by far the most user-friendly, fast and versatile one. Ability to add online references (lookup words on any dictionary web site) is invaluable to me.

WOW !!. Taking notes from a documentary on Biblical Mysteries. I'm not gifted with spelling. Can you imagine how many times I needed WordWeb Dictionary help? While I was trying to guess at the Roman Emperor's name... I typed "Theodo"...and there in the list of possible options was "Theodosius." Could you ask for more? And for free?

Sweet. Makes me wish I'd had this in school. This app is completely functional, searches for words with minimal spelling, offers suggestions for synonyms, has advanced search functions to go online (with wireless connection) to google and other online dictionaries and more.

Easy, Well-designed, Helpful, Functional. I've been using this for years now, pretty much exclusively. It's the only dictionary I use on my iPhone, and the only one I will need because of its great functionality and user-friendly interface. Also that no Internet connection is required for the standard dictionary is perhaps its best feature. Great job.

Excellent!. I use the desktop version of WordWeb and have for years. I just got my iPod Touch and was thrilled to find the WordWeb app! I also like how I enter in a word, look it up, and if I want to continue looking for just the right word, I can touch *any* word on the screen and that word is automatically searched. As a writer, I will use this app a lot.

Awesome!!. I've been using this app since 2010 and it hasn't let me down yet and it's super responsive, minor notes that are simply preference but over all it's a five star app! It's so good that I bet even the developers have it installed on their phones! I even have installed on my droid Tab. Nice work

Honestly the Best Dictionary app around. What I love about this app is, that even before you type out the entire word in the search box - it gives you a list of suggestions... And for someone like me, who is often looking for a word that's just somewhere in the recesses of my memory, (I'm not even certain if I'm spelling it out right ), it's a God sent to have an entire list of possibilities in front of me.

WOW!. I'm currently reading an AP Literature assignment called "How To Read Literature Like a Professor" which has some pretty advanced diction sprinkled throughout, but I haven't missed a trick thanks to the WordWeb app on my iPhone. The extent of my vocab is going to be mega legit by the time first semester starts up.

Perfect Quick reference. The perfect quick reference dictionary. I have been using the desktop version since more than 8 yrs and the mobile version since last 4+yrs. I never felt a need to carry another dictionary.

This one does it ALL. This is the one and only program I use for a Dictionary! I have been using it on my PC (If you own a PC, they make a Free and a Pro version. Grab it, it is great) for years and now that it is on the iPhone, all that much better! Download this program, you will NOT find a better one in the store! As if that wasn't enough, it is also FREE! What more could you possibly want!

The best dictionary app. I have been using the wordweb for over 9 years in my PC and I love it. It's even better on iPhone, where free version has got more features than the desktop free version. If you are looking for English (be it UK or Aus or Can) dictionary it's all here, so do yourself a favor, install this app and I guarantee you will love it.

Just the greatest. This is by far the greatest everyday-use dictionary app on iPad, free or paid. I've tried several others, some supposedly from "reputable" sources, and none of them can hold a candle to this. They are either overly simplified in their presentation, or simply lacking some moderately unusual words. (No "anodyne", or "ankh". Really?) I'd hazard to guess that for 80% of the people, this is the only dictionary app they'll ever need on their iPad.

Fantastic!. This is hands-down the best simple dictionary app for the iPhone. I have tried many, many dictionary apps. This is the one I can return to over and over. This is the one I use. You will love it. It is an off-line dictionary app (contrary to what some people here have said). Download it, you'll love it.

Best dictionary of the five I tested. Including the one that comes with the iPhone, this is my favorite. You would expect these features: - The free version is good enough for most situations (what I use a dictionary for). - Fast startup and lookup. - Shows suggested words as you type. - Remembers last word typed. But I was pleasantly surprised by these features: - Alternatives ("did you mean?") are displayed in the same window, but different location; very clear. - Offers "sounds like" alternatives. If you type vane it will also offer vein and vain with little ears by them. - Cross-references to other iphone apps and web resources. - Definitions, including thesaurus references, are concise, but complete. Most fit on a single screen. The design is economical: "=" gives thesaurus alternatives.

Thus in one of great app on my phone. After trying a couple of dictionary apps, this is the best app on my phone. The most important factor is: SPEED WordWeb's search speed is enormous among other apps, in addition to the startup speed. There are tons of other great features, cross reference for virtually every word and the in-app mobile wikipedia support. Highly recommend!

I love it!. I love the definitions as they are stated simply. I love it that when I need to look up a word in the definition I can just tap on it. I hope, though that you'd fix it so I could go back to the original word without going out to my home page first.

Highly Recommended. I came to download this app after using the WordWeb software on my computer. Not only does it enable you to retrieve many definitions, but you have a thesaurus function and 'words that sound the same' feature. If you like this app, the PC version for your computer is the next step to a proficient vocabulary.

Really helpful app. I have been using this app for several years. The best feature, for me, is the search feature. You can type part of a word and insert an asterisk anywhere in the word and the dictionary will supply you with all the words that have the letters you have typed, with letters inserted between them.

Absolutely best dictionary!. I absolutely love this app. It is so helpful to my life. It has greatly increased my vocabulary and has made reading books so much more enjoyable because I no longer have to take forever to look up each word in a paper dictionary or even take time opening up a web page and looking it up.

amazing. This dictionary functions perfectly, and I like how it gives multiple options and settings. the definitions are simple and easy to understand. There is also a constant suggestion list, so if I want to see another version of the word it makes it easy to do so. The fact that it also presents synonyms and antonyms also help. I would think it perfect, except that it has no verbal pronunciation available.

My favorite free dictionary. I have used Wordweb for years now and I was excited to see it available as a app. My initial problem was not being able to sort my bookmarks. That has been rectified thus deserving 5 stars in my opinion. I haven't had any other problems to report pertaining to Wordweb.

Well designed, works like a charm. This is a very well designed app - whether you're looking for a quick reference or if you're trying to crack the crossword. Works really well - no intrusive ads, clean interface and good examples. It's worth more than just free.

I love pattern searching. You don't know how much I need pattern searching. It's fast and FREE. It only lacks etymology which I would occasionally look for. It will be a bonus if it supports multi-tasking (which shouldn't be so hard to implement I guess)

A must have on every Iphone!. I love WordWeb! I learn new words everyday with this app. It's easy to search for words, offers a random word generater function, and it's just fun to use. You can even bookmark words you want to refer back to later. Kudos to the makers and continued success!

Dictionary. Love it! Whenever searching for words, I would have to dig up or pull-out three different books: each weight about 3 to 5 pounds just to search. But not anymore!!! This is ingeniuos. I can't get enough of it. Just a single tap of my finger and away we go!!!!!. It's just that simple!!!! Thank you. Keep up the great good.

Best dictionary only if. I love this app. I use it so much that I put it on the bottom of my iPhone screen so I can access it anytime when I read. I wish it could have a history of the words I looked up. That can enhance tremendously the learning new words instead of just understanding them than forgetting them right away.

The best implementation of WordNet in AppStore. This is the most elegant and functional interface to WordNet dictionary you would find in AppStore; my only suggestion is to move the random word tabs to some (lower) corner so that it is easily accessible for frequent use. Please also add the ability to monitor clipboard when brought up; thank you.

Reasonable dictionary, NOT a thesaurus. This app performs well as a basic English dictionary (which I don't know why Apple doesn't include on iOS devices like it does on Macs), but despite advertising as such, there is no thesaurus function. There's some kind of "show synonyms" switch in the preferences, but it doesn't really do anything. If you've paid for another, real, thesaurus app, you can set this app up to link you there, but nothing gets shown inside THIS app.

Dmbh2011. I really like this dictionary. I have used it several times a day since downloading it. Its amazing how many words one miss-spells. I am taking on line classes right now, and its just so much easier to use this app then have to keep a heavy cumbersome dictionary next to me. Thanks :)

It's hard to imagine a better interface. It's clear that WordWeb is well thought out and that care was taken in its execution. I could hardly imagine a better, simpler, and more effective interface for looking up definitions and similar words. I've been searching for a dictionary like this for a long time. Glad to have finally found it. I like it so much, I bought the desktop version too!

Wonderful app ... but. An ability to have landscape mode - both for the keyboard and while browsing cross-references such as wikipedia and google - would really make this the most complete reference app out there.

Dictionary?. The application is very simple to use in searching for the correct spelling of words. It is quick and intuitive. The search for suggestions function works very well when we are playing Scrabble.

Thanks. I have used this app for years and I have always found it useful. You can't but thank it developers being free, useable offline, concise, makes homophone suggestions, pronunciation key, instant cross referencing in addition to other smart word search ways.
