PCalc Lite Comments & Reviews 2026
Great App. My favorite Calculator App. One of my favorite best features is that I can choose how the app's icon looks 👏🏼 I used to do that on other OSs but seeing that on iPhone is just a simple, sweet & unappreciated little touch.
Go no further… Seriously.. PCalcIs easily the best calculator in the Apple world. I paid for it years ago, including all of the extras and add-ons. I’ve gotten very good support from the developer as well. My only complaint is a silly one. Even though I’ve upgraded and purchased all the extras, the app icon still says ‘Lite’. That’s it! That’s the only thing I could say that’s critical. So, do yourself a favor. Stop looking, just get this one.
I didn’t know there was a lite version. This is perfect, I’m not a heavy math guy so the price for the full app seems expensive to me, but this is perfect. Way better than stock calculator. The free app has most everything I need, and I can definitely see spending a couple bucks if I do find something I need missing. And if the full version ever goes on sale again I’m snapping it up.
!!!!!!!. I have used PCalc on my Mac, iPhone and iPad for several years. No problems on any of the machines and I am very impressed. As they say, “It Just Works!”...
Great iPad Calculator. When I purchase my iPad I was surprised to learn that it didn’t come with a calculator. As a result I went on the for one at the App Store and went with PCalc Lite and have found extremely useful.
Finally, a calculator without ads!. It’s sad that it has to be said today, but wow was it hard to find a calculator that looked decent without ads and for free. This actually makes me want to donate or buy the pro, even though I just do simple calculations. One suggestion, I wish I could change the icon to something other than “42” just so I can recognize it easier. Thank you devs!!
Good app, bad icon. We get it, you also enjoyed reading HHGTTG. 42 is good for demos, terrible for icons. Please make the icon look like a calculator, it would really improve an otherwise great experience.
The best calculator available!. This is by far the ultimate tool for the apple. I love the feature that allows RPN. Being weened on HP calculators starting with the HP 25 too many years ago to own up to, this fit the way I do calculations.
Engineering decimal places. Overall, an excellent calculator app. Will award that 5th star when the Engineering Decimal Places is fixed. Correct implementation will show the same number of significant digits as specified. The flawed implementation controls only digits after the decimal. Thus the significant digits shown is different depending on value. Very annoying. (See HP for correct approach.) If this is all that’s wrong, then these folks have produced a top quality product. Hope y’all fix it!
James Thomson is a genius. You want to see the real potential of mobile device software? You want to see superior visual aesthetics? Superior app functionality? Superbly intuitive human interface design? Exemplary respect for the user, including first-rate customer support? All of that in single app? Then download p-calc right now, and for God’s sake, pay the man. He’s a very rare talent indeed, and we’d all be the poorer if he decided to go somewhere else to make a living.
Missing Important Functionality. I am looking for an app capable of performing the more advanced functions of the TI-30XS Multiview. This seems to handle the multi view from what I can see in the addons but still does not appear to handle lists and statistical operations on lists, seeming to be still a fairly basic calculator. Are there any plans for any more advanced functionality in the future? iOS seems more than capable of creating a powerful calculator...
Best calculator for iPad!. It supports split view! Has the scientific part of the calculator! It allows you to customise the icon and the view of the app! Best thing ever
Excellent calculator App.. This is an excellent computer app. Thanks for contributing to improving the iPad. I would have paid for it, just to help you. Please don’t ever make this a subscription type app, like the others. Highly recommended!
Serious Shortcoming. This calculator does not display your input values after pressing equal. If you accidentally finger-fumble your input values and press equal, your answer will be wrong and you won’t even know it. Other calculators continue to show your input values and operators after pressing equal. If gives you the opportunity to double check what you entered was correct.
Widget?. I’m giving you five stars easy. This is a great calculator. Only thing I miss is that after updating to iOS 18 I can’t use your widget on the widget screen any more. It was my No 1 widget and the way I always went to the calculator for simple stuff. That’s for a great app. Maybe a widget in the near future?
Works well on iPhone but the instructions to configure the app on Apple Watch are flawed. My go to calculator on my iPhone however hate the watch version. Instructions say to go to the iPhone PCalc lite app. Click on the settings icon and then select the watch menu. There is no item on the list containing “watch”. Wanted an RPN calculator on my watch, but hate the default calculator that PCALC puts on the watch. Deleted the watch app since it it inferior to the apple calculator
Professional feature-packed app with superb support. I have used PCalc and PCalc Lite for over 10 years. It is an indispensable, rock-solid, mature app jam-packed with useful features I am still discovering. If you regularly use a calculator in your job, this is the one you should buy.
Good calculator. Just ignore the childish goofy icon :) The manual is also worthless, as it covers too many different I devices, and all the different versions of PCalc itself. (NOTE: I didn’t buy the full version due to its high cost. I bought it piecemeal) Still, I am very satisfied. Most calculator apps on apple store are pure rubbish. This one is not! Mmm
Ad free calculator. Strangely, iPad doesn’t come with a calculator. This seems to be the best free calculator. It doesn’t blast you with ads and it looks and feels a lot like the iPhone calculator. Thanks for making a good, usable app!
Years later, still the best. PCalc, in either mode, is my favorite calculator. But for those who appreciate the power, simplicity and elegance of Reverse Polish, there is better value or more satisfactory solution.
I see what you did there..... 5* for the 42 reference 😉 if you know, you know. it is a Good calculator app as well! Don’t forget your towel....
I use this every day. I love this app. I use it pretty much every day. I also picked up the programmer calc in App purchase and use it all the time. I bought this years ago and have never had a reason to look for another one.
Purchased features unavailable on Apple Watch. I needed a binary-hexadecimal calculator for my apple watch, and my research lead me to PCalc. I chose to get the lite version and only buy the programmer pack, as that's all i needed, and while it functions as expected on my iphone, i was greatly disappointed to find that the programmer features are still missing on my apple watch. I've tried reinstalling the apple watch app, and there are still no new functions to use. If the features are only available on the iphone/ipad apps, then i would like a refund, as the description doesn't indicate any less functionality for the watch app.
Apple Watch app is excellent. While some developers are stopping Apple Watch development, these guys have continued to improve theirs. Being able to do do rpn calculations on my watch is great. It’s easy and it works.
Best Apple calculator app! AAAAA *****. For MacOS, iOS and iPadOS! Also, I the author’s “widget” for iOS and iPadOS the best one that I have fond especially for ipadOS where Apple doesn’t provide a “Control Center” calculator like they do on iOS on the iPhone. And he very nicely handles dark mode unlike the others out there that I have tried that don’t. Also he has two display modes in the widget...“thin” and ability to expand to a full calculator keyboard.
iPhone X, iOS 11.x. Orders of magnitude better than the stock calculator and so many others. The option to add only the additional features that one requires make for an affordable, intuitive experience. Look no further if you want an app that is maintained consistently and always works with the latest devices (even the free version without any additional features unlocked) because PCalc Lite delivers. These are the developers that we should support.
The Best. If there is a calc program available, PCalc is the best of the best. You can customize your visual preferences, use it as a basic calculator, or, upgrade it to very advanced features used in mathematics and science.
Excellent choice. There are several “full feature” calculators in the App Store, and this is one of them. PCalc is an excellent choice, if you want a calculator that does number manipulation, this may be the one for you. If you need graphing, or ability to solve quadratic equations, you need to look elsewhere. What I’d like to see is a user manual as part of the app, not just a link to an online location. Also, if you do buy the packs, your icon is indistinguishable from the free version. I have all the packs, except the programmer pack (those days are in the distant past for me). There should be a difference in appearance and name - perhaps you can call it PCalc Plus, instead of PCalc Lite, and add the “+” symbol to the icon? Finally, do the currency conversions get automatically updated? If so, how often? If no, how do you update manually?
Changing original rating. Calculator work great. Calculator now has “enter” function a few hours after initial install. Works great in RPN mode. Nice large numbers and keypad. Recommended app for a RPN calculator👍🏻 Great customer support. Perfect calculator for Apple Watch 7.
Highly recommended. I Purchased PCalc and was immediately impressed. Honestly, this app has no peer. Fully customizable, with deep and thorough functionality, it’s hard to imagine anything could be better. After trying the Lite version I jumped and purchase the additional packs and never looked back. Also, I had reason to contact PCalc with a question and they replied immediately. I was totally impressed. Thank you for a great app PCalc people!
This may be the only 30 year old iOS app. PCalc began life on the Mac 30 years ago and remains the best calculator to this day!
App Changed to Lite Version?. I had supported PCalc since its inception having purchased the full version of the App a number of years ago but now my copy of the App has been changed by the App Developer to PCalc Lite? What goes? Those that purchased the original full version should not be relegated to the Lite version now that the App is successful!
Disappointed. I got this to replace the recently butchered Apple calculator. I’d been adding figures and copying and pasting totals into a running list for years, when suddenly the Apple calculator would only paste a seven digit number in scientific notation. Useless, in my world. So I got this app, but it had no commas between the thousands. I dug deeper and discovered a 99 cent “Power Pack” that purported to add thousand separators to the system. So I bought it. Well, it adds them to the calculator display, but if you copy and paste a total, they’re not there. So I’m out a buck and still have to futz with my totals to keep my years-long list consistent. Frustrating.
Best calculator app for iPhone and iPad. This is the calculator app that I use for my iPad and iPhone. I really enjoy how easy it is to use for basic calculator functions. I’ve never really used the scientific calculator for anything. What also really gets me about this app is that you can add the widget and use mostly all basic calculator functions.
PCalc Lite. This is a delightful application! I use it as a musician to calculate the vale of ratios in cents, and am impressed with all the options and features.
Great calculator app. Wonderful app. Superb accessibility. Works great with VoiceOver. I decided that I don’t need all of the features of the full app, so I gotthis version, and purchased only the features that I wanted.
Iphone. when you turn the iphone caculater it turns in to science tific caculater
42. This really is an excellent app, and as a die-hard lover of Hitchhiker’s Guide, I love that the icon is “42”. Not that it affects the app or anything, but it’s nice to know my calculator app knows the answer to life, the universe, and everything. :)
Ugh, Censored. What trash. I need this thing to work, in every orientation. I have used it for years, but while charging my iPad just now, which I was using upside down, I entered one of the many figures I was calculating and bam, censored! Well, guess what idiots, your basic idea is flawed anyway. The screen wasn’t upside down. And even it was, you could always lay it on a table and walk around to the other side. Fools. Delete. Update: Thanks for admitting this is a joke app.
Great app and great developer. This app is so handy, particularly for the widget that gives me instant access to a calculator. Plus, the developer responds personally to email requests nearly immediately, in my case pointing out yet another feature of the app. Great app and thanks JT for your time and expertise which makes things easier for me!
Great but needs widget - slow or not. I’ve used this app for years, largely for the widget. I understand that the iOS 18 widgets are extremely slow, however I would appreciate even a slow PCalc Lite widget over any other calculator app. Love, a loyal user
Best calculator. I upgraded to the full version years ago and it just keeps getting better.
Just wanna say. This is not only the best calculator on any platform, it is one of the best iOS apps period. Thank you!
The best free calculator. This is the only simple, free calculator I've seen on the App Store. It doesn't have aggressive ads, and it has all the features I need. The only calculator app I'll ever use.
Add commas and it's perfect. Love this app! Thank you! Just wish there were commas to separate the hundreds, thousands, millions, etc.
Excellent calculator.. This review is for PCalc Lite. This free app is much better than many that one must pay for. It is beautiful to behold and there is a thoroughgoing and entire lack of advertising.
Great app but... It was great when I had widget. Now with new iOS update the widget is gone. It was faster than using the iOS calculator in the short cut. Just slide over and you had a calculator. Now the best part of the app is gone. Lame
Upgrade across devices solved. Was not intuitive how to share an upgrade from lite to full version across devises but developer clarified the process. Otherwise it is a very good calculator.
Memory functions on Widget instead. I am a very basic calculator user, and I find that Pcalc app has been the best calculator so far that is great at its features. Most of all, it has the widget feature which many calculator app may not have. Though, I think that the widget’s functions of 1/x, x! etc, other than % and +-, should be replaced with M+, M-, MC and MR as these are the most commonly used features for basic calculator, especially as a widget. Hope that the developers can consider this minor adjustment in the coming update. Keep it up and make it the greatest calculator app for all. Thanks.
Literally bought for the widget and they took it away. Used for years. Even tipped a few times. Imagine my surprise when I updated the phone today and the one thing I bought it for no longer existed. Edit: Apparently that’s and iOS 18 issue as they took away legacy widgets. Developer responded and told me they haven’t updated to the new style widgets because of typing lag using them. Having downloaded another highly rated calculator that uses the new style widgets, I can see what they are talking about. It’s not a great experience.

Excellent!. Really good calculator with some clever features. I like the undo history and conversion modes.
Don’t settle for less. Literally the best calculator app on the Store. Also available for macOS!
Great calc app. I have been looking for a good rpn calculator app with engineering exponents for a while and finally found this one and purchased the upgrades, does what it says on the box and the constants are a bonus. I have contacted the developers with some suggestions like the ability to display the engineering exponent as an SI multiplier symbol. If they do this I will re-rate as 5 stars.
Nice look. Limited functionality. Doesn't seem a way to be able to show commas every 1000 which is pretty basic requirement.
Love it. Great app. Thinking of upgrading to the paid. Works very similarly to my old HP RPN calculator. Well laid out and the unit conversions are extensive. Cost a bit high. But does tie in to the desktop version for a discount. Looking into it.
Great But. Please include a financial calculator. Will purchase immediately.
Great calc. After downloading and using a few other basic calculators I chose this one as it's the best free one available in my opinion. I love the twilight theme with the old LCD look. Awesome!
Great for school use. All my students are using this. We've tried lots of others but this calculator is easy to use and accurate.
Gets me out of trouble. There are some math teachers that rely on scientific calculators for teaching and don't like it when you forget (or can't find) your calculator, this app has got me out of trouble many times
The BEST for engineering 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. SI Prefixes at last on an iPhone calculator! Absolutely one of my most sought after features for radio electronics calculations! Thank you James Thompson and TLA Systems Ltd! I suggested this to the developer some time ago and have been checking the updates ever since. Just now with this latest update my wishes have come true. Ever since Uni, I've always gone for my trusty old FX calculator as it includes SI Prefixes and makes electronics engineering calculations so much easier. Now I can server my ties and rely wholly on PCalc. Entry of SI Prefixes can easily be done by hitting EXP after your value & selecting for example -6 for micro. One day I'm hopeful that these will show on the number key pad with the 2nd function. But for now it's just awesome! If you're looking for the best scientific / engineering calculator for iOS or macOS, buy this! You won't regret it. 5 Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Needs dark mode support. Please add dark mode support for those who have system-wide dark mode enabled.
Used to be the best available, not anymore. This calculator widget used to be perfect and super convenient. I used it everyday but they never updated it and now it’s gone altogether. Every option available now is super slow and lagged to the point of being unusable. Maybe that’s apple’s fault or maybe not but either way the app is no use to me now.
Maths. It’s includes maths maths is stinky
Best Watch implementation. PCalc has the best implementation on the Apple Watch. You can delete one digit at a time, not just All Clear (AC), and you can tell which operator (+, - etc) you are using. In addition to clicking on the "...", I wouldn't mind being able to swipe between screens. Great stuff.
Great product from a developer who knows his stuff.. Incremental upgrades are a plus too, as I don't need all the features of the full version.
No Adverts!!. Thanks to the developers.
PCalc lite. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Awesome. Thank you for the lite version it is very much appreciated, especially that apple in all their glorious oversights didn't include a calculator in the iPad ..... duh
Excellent calculator for the iPad. I like this calculator over all the others because the interface is clean and large. That makes tapping in a lot of numbers easier and quicker because you're not having to hunt for tiny buttons.
Recommended. Best Calculator application I've used. Widget is very awesome and useful for iPad
Excellent!. Great full featured calculator inlcudes discrete option to upgrade
Great app. a great app used it all the time, especially the % key, don't know what drop roll and swap keys are.
Lite version ads too much for me. Usually has a bit of a delay to open due to an ad being displayed. Only a few seconds and then can close the ad. Now have had to wait more than 10 secs before being able to close it. Gone to uno calc
No comma separator for 1000’s ???. Nice clean app, but seemingly no ability or option to show comma separated thousands…. a deal breaker for me.
Hi. Love how when you type in hi or hello, it replies saying hellow there!
Lacks functionality. The applications pretty enough, but I wanted more and so upgraded to the pro pack. Disappointed. The pro version doesn't even do simple things like polar rectangular versions. This is just a simple calculator that is not suitable for engineering, I guess I'll have to keep carrying my HP around.
Truly the best. It's not often that an app that touts itself as "the best free X" really IS the best free X, but this is a rare exception. Mercifully ad-free, tastefully designed and feature-rich, this is the perfect calculator app that Apple forgot to ship with the iPad.
Great app. Got my iPad and was surprised there was no calculator ! The free version of this app is perfect for my simple needs, however if I needed something more robust I'd certainly purchase the full package based on all the extra info available to me in the free app. The answer is 42...love it !
Hi. Great i love when u type hello and stuff and turn it up it says hi there that is skill love it well done

Brilliant. Awesome guys
Best calculator!. I had switched to another calculator years ago, but just today realized it had been removed from the App Store. Too many problems, never fixed. But I am back to PCalc Lite now, which is the best calculator out there! After all these years, my previous purchases are still there. I'm glad I am back!
Really great. I was able to use it right after the download it is the calculator Apple should ship with the iPad. Love the reverse Polish notation works just like my old HP calculator. I use it both on my iPad and iPhone One of my most used apps highly recommended. Really hope they come out with something that allows you to work with mortgages like the old financial HP calculators. Had this program for years still use it every day.
Simple and what is needed. I’m a delivery driver and use this for the calculation every day for every store and quite handy and big enough buttons on my 42 watch to use. Thanks to the developers.
Fantastic!. Great app. I love the widget for quick calculations. Ad free!
Great widget. Calculator in notification centre is awesome
Ok. It is just like any other calculator But it is still a great reference source
Needs haptic support to be 5 stars. Simple calculator with reasonable selection of functions plus reasonably accessible conversions. Calculators in particular need haptic feedback to replace the click that we all relish from using HP and old TI calculators because that tells you that you have registered a key press. Implement that and this would be very good indeed.
Free version. This gets five stars from me, especially for the free version. I don't require the more advanced features and it was the nicest free calc I could find with a per cent key that didn't require a "shift". Thx
Beautifully Designed. This App has a great look to it. It fits closer to the iPhone style than the Apple designed calculator. Thank you for releasing this "lite" version. I have always wanted to try it our but am not a heavy enough user of calculators to justify the full version however the great quality of the App may convince me.
What's with the new icon?. Let me start by saying this is a great app. An app that use to have a good looking icon, but the icon in this latest version is hideous, a scare on my home screen. Please change it back, or get something else.
Works very well. Somehow it seems to register keystrokes more accurately than the built-in calculator app. Much more usable as a result.
Beautiful and easy!. This is a beautiful app that's easy on the eyes and the brain. Works just like any other calculator, with the added benefit of certain constants that are easy to forget and just as easy to pick from one of this app's handy drop-downs. Amazing!
Best looking free calculator. UI looks awesome, better than apple's and all the other free ones in the top downloads. Haven't used much of the scientific stuff since I'm no longer in school, but for casual calculator users, this app is the most professional and visually pleasing.
Great calculator finally!. Worked perfectly! Only one concern that I hope developers can address: the digits in the calculator show up without commas. So 1,000,000 shows up as 1000000. Hoping this can be solved and I’d be happy to give a 5!
Great job!. Good work!
Pcalc lite. The best calculator app. Beautiful, easy to use interface for both simple and complex calculations. The app includes a handy conversion pack and choice of themes.
great calculator. This app has earned a spot on my coveted 'home screen'. It starts quickly, and the buttons are quick and easy to press. More functions than I would ever need, the lite version is a super deal, and if I saw myself needing the extra features, I would trust this vendor and upgrade to the full version for sure. For instance, I just recently had a quick question for the vendor, and he answered my email right away with helpful information. Thanks!
She's a bute!. She's a bute! Nuff said! Buy it! Oh wait, it freakin FREE!!! Well done.
Way to Access Scientific Calculations Without Turning Phone?. Hey there! Great app so far. I’m curious if there is a way to access scientific functions without having to rotate the phone into landscape mode every time? I know some calculator apps like Numerical^2 that allow you to swipe the calculator key pad back and forth to access the scientific buttons when in portrait mode. Is that something that could be implemented in this app? Thanks again!
:D. I absolutely love this app. Since my calculator is broken, I use this in class. The only complain I have is that we can't do fractions. On my broken calculator, there was a button "a b/c". With it, we could calculate fractions and such. I need it in class right now, so I wish I had it in PCalc. Thanks!
Best calc app. Best calc app i've found.
Best calc app hands down. This is the best calculator application I have seen. The ui and the response is amazing
Great Calculator. This calculator is one of the best if not the vest, I’m giving only 3 stars because when i tried the lite version, i did love it, so I started adding the extra features and now i have the equivalent to the full version but my icon is still the lite one, so I’ll fix my score until that happens, please devs, I’m pretty sure that is something you can do!!
Looks great. Works great.. Not much to add to the title.
Pretty darn good for free. Use it a lot. Had to take away a star. On the iPad, switching out to another app and then back to PCalc clears the register and whatever function you were in the middle of.
Best free calculator. Great artwork and it works beautifully. Much nicer than any of the other free calculators. Thank you for saving me the trouble of having to write my own ;) One thing about the name though, it doesn't easily show up when searching for Calculator.
Best iPhone Calculator. Great interface, smooth functionality. Love the RPN Still waiting for financial functions!!!
Best iPad Calculator. There is no competition - this is the best calculator for the iPad. If you just need a basic calculator, this maybe all you need. If you need something more, add one of the in-app packages. I added the the conversion pack and don't need a unit converter app now. Great iOS7 interface.
repeat. If they added functionality so that hitting = again would repeat the operation, that would be great.
Great app. Love this calculator it's great on iPad, iPhone and watch. Needs stickers for iOS 10 though...
Nice.... Very nice!
Quite a few problems. It doesn't let me enter decimal exponents. When I entered 10^3.4 it gives me 1^35 which we all know equals 1. I also entered 10^2 and it gave me 1000
UPDATE Super laggy. Thank you! Turning off the clicks has resolved the issue. The app is incredibly laggy on my iPad Pro 3rd Gen. It’s unusable.
Doesn't repeat operations when you hit = again. Other than that, it's great but I think I'm sticking with big calc just cause it repeats the operation when you hit = more than once
Tried several calculators, this one was the best!. Was looking for a low-cost programmer's calculator, that was non-RPN (this one does RPN and non-RPN, whichever you prefer), and that respected operator precedence (e.g. 2 * 5 + 2 * 3 should return 16, and does with this app). To turn the app into a programmer's calculator, I needed to buy the optional programmer's pack for an extra $2.99 once I had installed the free lite calculator - but the combination is a great programmer's calculator for only $2.99.
Awesome and very responsive. Way more responsive to touch than the calculator app that comes with the iPod. Very impressed -am actually considering the paid app even though the free one probably suits my needs. Thanks for offering it!
Fast and Featureful. This is the one calculator app out of a dozen that gets kept in my dock. Must be some very tight programming by the devs, because it's one of the most responsive calculators I've tried despite also boasting a very long list of features. Ended up eventually buying almost all the extensions plus a tip for the great work. I particularly like the configurability of the Engineers pack.
Great. Great RPN calculator for the price, "gochip" lighten up!
Superb!!!. Great calculator!!! The free version is very good, and it becomes a great calculator when you add a couple enhancement packs for 99 cents each. Fantastic deal.
Perfect. Love the new "Dark Nigh" theme.
lol.... if you have 0.1134 or (5531)8008 on the screen and you turn it upside down, it gives u a response
The BEST calculator in the App Store. I found it when looking for and RPN calculator to replace the default apple one. And whether you like RPN or not the app spurts both. It does everything I need, does it well, and looks great doing it !!
Works great. Not only my first pick on the iPad, but also on the iPhone over the built-in calculator.
Ultimate answer to life the universe and everything. I was exploring the functionality of this app and came upon the universal constant for the ultimate answer to life the universe and everything. Automatic five stars.
Ok. I love that there are no ads and I love the clicky sounds you can choose from. But when I typed 120+15/60= it would say 125.25 On any default calculator that's all you need to type to get 2.25. But it seems with this one you need an extra = before the you divide which is annoying. And where did that number come from!?
No RPN on Apple Watch? Fixed!. Picked this up as an RPN alternative to other calculators for my Apple Watch 4, but could see no way to get it into RPN mode. The equals sign is always there! Went into RPN mode on my phone, and the next time I went into the app on the phone, it was in RPN mode!
Great calculator app. I remember my Engineering days with my HP RPN calculator. This does such a great job that I purchased the full version. Well worth the money. My only nit is that it still says I've got the free lite version. Not a deal breaker, however. Good job PCalc!
Great App. Just what I wanted in an app. Does the job!
Awesome, hilarious easter egg. This calculator is great for all sorts of calculations, I highly recommend it. Try typing in every Grade 6's favourite joke and flipping the phone upside down, hilarity

customizable calc app on steroids. just like the built in Calculator app, you can rotate your device 90 degrees to access the extended functions such as sine, cosine, tangent, logarithm, etc. -- just make sure you have "Do Not Rotate" set to OFF in the advanced settings. all this can be found in the in-app Help, right there in the upper left corner of the settings area. in fact, there's already some great advanced settings in the basic version if you care to get below the surface. sure, if your needs don't go beyond simple math, there may be no reason to use PCalc. however with in-app purchase you can customize not only the appearance but tailor its features to your needs. the purchase fees seem reasonable, and not a bad idea if you already have too many apps cluttering your device (like me). this is how IAP works really well. tap on the arrow next to a feature to get screenshots and full details of what you get for the purchase. i can't stand apps that do a poor job describing the IAPs so PCalc's implementation is refreshingly clear.
flawed stack. This application has a flaw in its RPN logic. The item Last Entered (i.e., lowest entry on the stack) repeats in the stack. This is a sever flaw because the "item last entered" gets acted on twice. If the user types 2 Enter, 3 Enter, +, the 3 is counted twice and produces the summation: "8", not the intended "5", because the stack includes the item twice. This will not even be apparent to the user unless the user has purchased the "stack" option (which I did), so that the item is visible. I've been using RPN calculators since the early 80's when I purchased my first 42s in college, and I have never seen this logic. I still carry my 48s after 20+ years. Please fix this flaw. Until it is fixed, the calculator is rendered useless, and I can give only 1 star.
It’s everything you want. My main requirement from a calculator is multi-line input. A ticker tape record. This meets my main requirement. But that’s just the beginning. The app is streamlined — all the extra junk is removed, leaving the user with a very simple interface that gets out of its own way. I’ve recommended this to family and friends for a couple years now; I always get a thank you a week later.
minor bug, update with fix in works -major bug - stops background music. I reported this to developer and he responded immediately with a temp workaround and a bug fix - says update will appear soon. The temp workaround is to turn off click sounds in the settings. The bug fix is that the app will no longer treat the click as system audio and will not shut off other background audio. Pcalc for iPhone causes my background music to stop playing, whether from a streaming app or the iPod app. Whenever I touch any button on Pcalc, the music immediately stops. This is not only NOT multitasking, it is anti-multitasking. There is no reason that an app that is not even accessing the network should be able to something like this, and it makes me nervous to use it at all. I have Pcal lite installed, but just purchased the multiple line display update from within the app. I do not know if this was a problem before the update. I also tried rebooting the iphone, but to no avail. Please either help correct this or update the software to work properly.
Please Change 42 Icon!. So far I love this app! I got it specifically to use on my my Apple Watch. I love that it's easy to see and use on such a tiny screen. I also chose it because in addition to being a regular calculator, I can use it to convert money during travel and measurements while cooking. My request, though, is for the developers to please consider redesigning the icon so it looks like a calculator. With all the tiny "complications" already on my watch, seeing a "42" icon just doesn't register to me as a being calculator.
Great calc, wish I could get rid of the built-in calc. PCalc (the paid version) was the very first app I bought for my phone (before I even received my 3G). It's both beautiful and extremely functional. Probably the biggest thing the free version offers over the built-in Apple calculator is RPN (which is indispensable for me). Undo/redo support is pretty handy, too. But the paid app's two-line mode and hex/octal/binary support make it well worth the money. And for all those wondering if the paid app can turn off the key clicks, the answer is YES! That's been there since day one. (And now the latest free version lets you turn the clicks off, too.)

Change the Icon?. Prior to updating my iPhone software, I used PCalc a lot. I lost it with the latest update because I was in a hurry and opted to "remake" the iPhone (my bad, I know). So I tried the Pcalc Lite. It's great but I wanted the full version, and I upgraded from inside the lite app. All good, except that the icon didn't change. It still says PCalc Lite, although as far as I can tell, the functions are all there. Any way to get the icon to change with the upgrade to the full PClac version?
Good but no history function. Good but no history function!
My calculator replacement.. I have begun using this app extensively on my iPad and iPhone; to me there seriously is no better app. While the add-ons seem daunting, there is a lot of power in the lite version alone. There are some features I'd love to see, and the developer reads through suggestions on his forum and seems to take note of them all which is very impressive. All-in-all, my favorite calculator app. I highly recommend you give it a try.
This has been my go-to calc for years.... I love this app. Bugs are squashed, features are tweaked, and the upgrades are offered in useful bites (of course, I ended up with all).... There are some specialty calc apps that offer isolated features that are not found here, but none have proved to be built on a basic foundation that is strong enough to retire PCalc from my iDevices. Not even close.... This calc has the perfect UI in look, feel, and functionality. I can't nail down exactly what makes it come together so well, but it's there in spades. It just doesn't get any better than this... It's almost fun to use! Play with it for a bit, learn its feature set, and you WILL buy the updates (just to have them), and park PCalc on your home screen permanently!
Easily the best calc app for my money. I'm a math and science teacher in a small private high school. Quick access to a truly capable and user-friendly calculator app on my iPhone was long a desire for me. I tried a few different apps before PCalc. Some free, some not. Once I selected this one and began using it, I very quickly became comfortable with its layout, options, and settings. For a modest fee I found I could add some mildly esoteric but personally useful features. I now greatly prefer the app to my old standby, the TI 84-Plus for most all regular use. I'm very pleased with the app, and greatly impressed by the rapid and pleasant response of the app's maker when I brought up a problem that proved to be user error. He was on top of things, pleasant, and patient. My issue was resolved immediately. I highly recommend PCalc Lite.
The Best. I've been using this calculator for years. It's fantastic. The ability to: -Calculate in hex, decimal and binary -Translate between decimal, hex and binary -Perform common logic operations -Scroll through history -Rewind calculation steps -Save custom functions/formulas (I've created functions like calculating solar masses of a distant star given distance and luminosity) -Save custom constants -Modify themes -Modify button size and layout Are just the beginning of how multifaceted this app really is. I would not recommend any other calculator app beside this. The lite version can be fully upgraded through inapp purchase. And I kind of prefer the orange icon over the blue ;) EDIT: The new icon pack that can be unlocked by tipping James is a good idea! I get fun new icons (no functionality added, just cosmetics) and he gets more monetary support for his work! This is extra to the function packs you can purchase in the app.
Not a flawed stack. I noticed a negative review indicating that the RPN stack is flawed. The review argued that the behavior of the ENTER button is broken because it replicates the value in the X register into the Y register. The reviewer referenced the behavior of the HP48S. This calculator actually employs RPL, not RPN. RPL indeed does employ a different behavior for the ENTER button, and this is evidently what the reviewer expected. So, I'm essentially writing this review in defense of the app, to counter the other review. In short, the app does not have a flawed RPN stack, and it's ENTER button behavior matches that of HP's RPN calculators (such as the HP12C and HP15C, etc.)
Where did the widget go?!. Widget option is gone in iOS 18
Definitely the best calculator out there. I've used a lot of calculators (mostly the HP scientific ones) and a bunch of calculator applications on my Mac and iDevices. PCalc is, without a doubt, the best app for both Mac and iOS. I started with the free app but it didn't take me long to buy the complete bundle. Well worth it. Customer support is fantastic. The few issues I've had were fixed quickly and the times I've needed help my email was answered rapidly. No question, buy it!
The best calculator ever!. This app is one of the most frequently used on my iPod; it's really handy to have around, as my HP 33 is at work, and sometimes I need a calculator around the house. The whole interface is really well thought out and easy to use. The developer seems to be really on the ball with making requested improvements and keeping it better than ever. I want to buy the full version, but it'd need a degrees-minutes-seconds function for me to be able to justify it to myself.
Widget. Could you add customization of widget Like for adding function sqrt in widget
Apple Watch app icon won't change. Years ago, I upgraded my free version to include all features that were in the "blue" version. I wanted the app icon color to change, but refused to pay the $9.99 again just for that change. Thank you for making the icon color change possible with this update. I looked forward to seeing the color change on my Apple Watch too, but it is still orange. Any plans to synchronize the icon color between phone and Watch?
great calculator. It's quite simple: this app turns your phone into a full-fledged scientific calculator for free. If you need more then this offers, which is actually quite unlikely, the granularity of the in-app purchases allow you to choose precisely what you will and won't pay for. Beyond the fact that the most useful calculator is the one you've always got in your pocket, Pcalc is just a very good calculator, period.
AWESOME. This is an AWESOME app. The program flat out works and works well. For anyone growing up on RPN, this is a must-have! I originally used the Lite version which is free and then upgraded to the full version by buying the power pack add-on. A nice way to do it, as you get the benefits of being introduced to the program for no cost. The developer is very active in supporting his application and maintains a support and question forum where he answers questions and enhancement requests. Very well designed, highly useful, great support if needed, etc. Highly recommended!
Best featured calculator available. This is a great calculator and getting better with each upgrade. Download the light, try it out and either purchase just the features you need or buy the full version. There are too many features to enumerate them all; adjustable stack display, large well laid out keys, and a huge number of user definable features and settings. I have a few on my iPad, but this is the I go to 99% of the time. Download this and see for yourself!
Great Calculator, UI, Developer. I only recently started using/learning RPN after changing to a career that is more financial accounting focused and although I have the HP 12C on my iPhone, I really prefer using PCalc for anything outside of finance calculations. The layout of the calculator is perfect for the way I work and I love the way you can swipe through the display to your numbers. This new update has the ability to quickly create your own functions, which will be helpful when I'm working on certain [repetitive] tax calculations. If I get enough time, I will probably transfer most of the HP's finance functions into PCalc that way I can just stick to this app. The developer has been great with communication and instantly replied to any questions and comments I sent him over Twitter. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone looking for a great calculator!
Best calculator ever. The best calculator with no ads and looks great theme. Thanks for works .
PCalc is the best RPN implementation I've used. PCalc Lite, in addition to having a plethora of useful math functions and being easy on the eyes and easy to use, has the best RPN implementation I've seen yet. PCalc accepts numeric entry and commits it to the stack exactly the same way as do HP's legendary handhelds. This makes it a dream to use, as you don't have to remember oddball little rules like "after a unit conversion, you must press Enter before any math operation", the like of which are seen in most other nominally RPN calculators. PCalc works the same on iPhone as on iPad, with the exception that portrait mode on iPad provides access to all functions, same as landscape. It's the only one I use; the built-in calculators on my iPad and iPhone sit in the corner wearing dunce's caps along with some other downloads.
Great looking RPN calculator. This is a very functional RPN calculator, without the hideous color scheme that you often find (I really don't understand this fascination with purple key labeling). You can also choose from the white/red/orange combination, or switch to an even more underdstated gray and blue theme. If you hold it in portrait mode, you get mostly arithmetic and basic operators like square and square root. If you turn it to landscape, you get many more operators including trigonometric and exponential functions. Both modes have the usual swap, drop and roll keys that are essential to RPN. I love this app.
Pity I Can't Delete The Apple One.... After trying Lite for a couple of days, I've liked this calculator enough to buy the full PCalc version (via the store directly instead of the in-app option), as I've used PCalc off and on on the Mac platform for years. It makes me wish I could think of something practical to develop myself, since non-games are the Cocoa Touch apps that actually can charge a fair price for them.
Absolutely Awesome App!!. This is an amazing app. It's extremely customizable with every mathematical feature you would need. What's really amazing about this app is it's list of unit conversions, constants and functions. It has nearly every one you might need (including up to date currency conversions). And if it doesn't have the one your looking for, you can make your own conversion, constant or function. The app's tape register shows all your past entries, as well as 10 memory inputs. And now you can rearrange all the buttons, or create your own special buttons (e.g., C° to F°, Kph to mph, kg to lb, or £ to €, anything you use a lot!), on the keyboard to your own liking. I've tried many other calculator apps and this is by far the best one I've come across. I absolutely love it!
Great App - needs financial functions and templates. Pcalc is one of the few apps on my iPad that occupies the coveted dock position. While I was happy with the Lite version, I quickly upgraded (via the in-app purchases) to the full suite, and at this point, Pcalc is THE goto calculator for me. What makes it great is the well through-out layout and the gorgeous UI. The history and paper trail functions are life-savers, as are the conversion functions. Unfortunately, one of the key features missing in PCalc is the financial functions (especially the TVM ones) - and the lack of a macro/template/programming functionality. This alone made me install the PowerOne app as well. PowerOne lacks a lot on the UI side, but its template function is a killer. Right now happy with both calculators on my iPad - but hoping that PCalc does get the TVM and template features soon.
Perfect free calculator. I was shocked to learn the Apple did not include a calculator with the iPad. At a minimum price of $500 one would think a calculator would be included. PCalc Lite is a perfect solution, though. This is a very simple calculator to use for all of your basic needs. Large buttons will make it easy to enter data, and this will do what 99% of calculator users need - adding, subtracting, etc of basic numbers. I know of 1 person that has the full version of PCalc but her needs are pretty intense. The lite version is great for most uses, though.
Fantastic.. I downloaded this lite version a while back, and now it's a mainstay on my home screen. RPN functionality is great, and after I popped a few of the packs into it (multiple line/programmer/engineer), it's become invaluable. The free version alone just destroys the standard iPhone calculator. Thanks for the fantastic app! Something worth noting: I've never before written an iPhone app review, yet this glorious bit of software has compelled me to.
Best calculator app on iPad + add free. I downloaded this app because iPad lacks a pre-installed calculator, and this app is add-free. Keep it up!
Best iOS calculator. I've been using PCalc on various platforms for a long time, and it is still the best. I guess that's what happens if you, like the author of PCalc, spend almost 20 years refining your work. One tip: if you are a heavy user of your calculator, you will find that most of the in-app add-ons are worth it. So it is in your interest to decide now if you like the blue or the gray background icon - the app will end up the same, either way, aside from that.
Excellent in Lite Form, even better in paid form. This is a very nice scientific calculator indeed. The free version looks great on an iPhone or iPad, and the paid version gives you a lot of customization capabilities. I'm a calculator junkie, and this is one of my favorites. The paid version pretty much pays for itself if you want to buy a version for your Mac, too, because it comes with a coupon for $9 off that.
I don't use it often, but when I do, it's great. I don't have a huge need for a calculator over the built in iPhone one, but I like the design of this lite version over Apple's, and it has constants and other useful features on the portrait screen without needing to rotate. These features were not enough to convince me to pay for a full featured app, but the tip jar addition is nice because I can now give the developer a little money whenever the app helps me out, or when I feel like it. Apps don't grow on trees, so people should be expected to pay for software they use and I am ok with this approach.
Great replacement on the iPad. I think the fact that there's no calculator, weather, clock, etc are grave oversights for the iPad, yet this calc app, while free makes me very glad they didn't bother. Capable of building up simple and more complex equations, conversion tools, and even a nice little in-joke for those who don't even need me to point it out... Great little bundle, and I wish this same company would do a similar clock with as much usefulness in a free app as this has.
Great BUT do not upgrade in-app. I waited to upgrade to the wonderful Pcalc, but the upgrade path is NOT available from within the Pcalc Lite's new in-app purchasing. Be aware you can not upgrade to Pcalc via purchasing the full $9.99 package from inside Pcalc Lite. It is NOT the same product. If you want Pcalc DO NOT try to purchase from within Pcalc Lite. I believe the new in-app purchasing mechanism inside Pcalc Lite is very misleading, no matter how intentionally so. The $9.99 price for the "full" Pcalc Lite version is the same price as Pcalc, but it is NOT the same product. I have never had a failure in conversion to a full version of an app via an in-app purchase from the free version until now. Every single time the free app icon was replaced by the full paid version icon that was priced the same as the in-app purchase. This will not happen with in-app purchasing with Pcalc Light. You end up with an enhanced version only of Pcalc Light.
No Ads. Free app with no ads.
Perfect calc. Thi app is the best app I have ever tried on IOS Full credit for the developers 👍
Best calculator for iOS -- and Mac OS X, too.. I've been using the Mac OS version of PCalc for years, and it's a great, flexible application, so it's no surprise that the iOS version is just as useful. The conversion button is conveniently placed on the default button layout, and with or without the conversions pack that function alone replaces a couple of other apps. Also handy on the main layout are the 1/x and % keys. If you ever have support issues, you'll find the developer is quick to respond. The number one thing on my wish list for upcoming versions is commas for thousands separators. Add that and I will rate this app....42!
PCcalc Lite OK. Works ok
My favorite calculator app. I ended up downloading three different calculator applications and have found this to be my favorite. I ended up upgrading to the full package. Great interface. I like the conversion tables. After using it, I upgraded to the full version. The developer has been very pen to feedback, even agreeing (very quickly) to a suggestion I made, a minor change in how Pcalc reports a certain error
Great update for iOS 11!. Thanks for updating a fine app!
Awesome calculator. The free version puts enough power into your hands to take on 99.9% of what we all use in a calculator for every day. Basic math, exponents, square roots, trig, memory function... We all have cheap basic calculators in our junk drawers and desktops. This one does everything they do and more. The free version won't take the place of what high school and college students need, or engineers for that matter, but there is always the upgrade. The screenshots shown are what you get in the free version. Like I said, very good app...free is even better.
great calc. for free ... yeah, rotate the iPhone default calc, it gives you some additional features, but this also has a bunch of conversions, some gesture features for undo and redo, color themes (well, only 2 for free; they'll sell you more if you want to pay). every negative 1-star review i read said something that didn't seem true … i.e. parentheses do work, 5^2 == 25, not 500 like one of the reviews said, centimeters to inches conversion was correct for me. and it's free. it is slightly better than the default calc ... and has the ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything. how can you go wrong?
Refuses to install. The lite version does not seem to want to install on the latest watch OS.
Exactly what I was looking for. This is a most excellent basic scientific calculator. I have worked in as a technician and as an engineer for over 45 years. Those fancy (and complicated) super multi-function graphing calculators are useful and necessary at times, but MOST of the time a basic scientific calculator is all you will need to do your job. PCalc Lite is easy to use, and after searching the app store for days for a straightforward basic scientific calculator that suites my requirements this is the only one I've found that gets it right. Sometimes simple is better. I'd give PCalc Lite six stars if it was possible.
Simple. Nice calculator. Just wanted a calculator, nothing fancy filled with ads and this was great.
Never thought a calculator app would be exciting.. Well, exciting may be to strong a word, but PCalc makes a necessary tool quite flexible, easy to use and, okay, a bit fun. It's reliable (never hangs or crashes) and fast. Even without the IAPs, it's useful, but the a la carte approach to IAPs got me all the functions I need at a decent price. With iOS 10 capabilities, PCalc is even more useful. WIth 3D Touch, you can do simple calculations right from the app icon. The new widget allows you to access PCalc for quick calculations without taking up a lot of space, but you can easily expand it to do more complex figuring. The themes add a bit of fun with lots of options to choose from.
Best Calc App for the iPad. Period.. I had been looking for a more full featured app since I purchased the iPad. You will have to look no further. This is the one. PCalc utilizes the screen real estate to perfection. The app works flawlessly. $9.99 may seem a little steep i comparison to other calculator apps but when you begin to add up the features such as the conversion module, you begin to see the value. The free version works just fine but I'm sure you will want to upgrade like I did. I had a question during the upgrade process and sent an e-mail to the developer (it's listed in the app) and received a response within 15 minutes. Great job.
