Doesn’t block Google result tracking links. The first thing I tested in this browser extension was the Google search results redirect tracking. It doesn’t work at all. Enable the extension follow all the instructions and do a Google search. Now long press on a result link and you will see that you cannot copy the link without getting the Google redirect. Furthermore, clicking the link shows that the Google redirect is still active since you can watch your browser going to Google before it goes to the result page. This was the only reason that I bought this extension. Perhaps it works for other use cases. I will still leave a good rating since the author of this app contacted me immediately when I complained about this.

Awesome. Not going to write an essay here, just going to say that this is one of the best privacy apps I’ve found. Simple to set up and it just works.

From great to amazing - outstanding developer. This is an example of an app that keeps delivering after you buy it. The developer has done a great job up-keeping and adding features over time.

Saving the web from Madness. Browsing the web can be a hassle. From minor annoyances of not being able to copy text or drag and drop content, to more egregious annoyances like visiting AMP links or being redirected with tracker links to the website(s) that you actually want to visit, the web is full of inconsistencies and annoyances. With StopTheMadness, I can be rest assured that websites that I visit are less annoying and more consistent by allowing me to copy text, drag and drop content, bypass AMP, stop tracker links, and more to come with future updates. If the web has an annoyance, I am confident that StopTheMadness has or will have some sort of solution to that annoyance. StopTheMadness is well worth the associated cost when you consider all of the benefits that you are getting— which work reliably well— and the fact that the developer is constantly fixing any bugs that may arise. And with new features introduced when necessary to “fix” the web, as well as a privacy policy of collecting no personal data, you— and your privacy— seriously can’t go wrong with your purchase of StopTheMadness.

It’s good on desktop, it’s good on iPhone. Nothing much more to say. Forces annoying videos with custom built html5 crap to use native video player, allows saving of images, gets rid of annoying crap in general. Must have and well worth the price of a (big) coffee.

Can’t browse without it now. Whenever I accidentally browse the web without StopTheMadness installed on a system, I am immediately frustrated by how much worse it is. This extension is just as important as, if not even more than, an adblocker to using the web in this era of awful banners and terrible abuses of web APIs.

Mostly invisible, but with noticeable performance improvements. I would very much consider myself a power-user of Safari. I shudder when yet another website suggests I download their app (who doesn’t have enough apps?). When I check battery usage, Safari is high and by far my #1 culprit, previously taking up 60-70% of my phone’s 10-day battery usage. That said, while most of the privacy enhancements of this app work invisibly in the background, one thing I’ve noticed as a major Safari user is increased battery life. Not a whole lot, but I feel like my phone’s battery stretches another 5-10% a day. Safari drains way less of my weekly battery life now and is down to around 40-50% of total battery use over the past 10 days. It’s a small price to pay to make your browsing experience much more efficient. By blocking invisible trackers and cutting out needless JavaScript, you considerably streamline the performance of your browser and that has left me one happy customer.

Love it!. Just purchased (thank you for one-time fee!) and already loving it. For example, it stops those horrible auto-play videos on Instagram. Also, website browsing seems faster. I’ll no doubt come back later to give more examples of how fantastic this new Safari browser extension is!

Amazing Developer Response. I emailed the dev with a request to add a feature to override the zoom settings of a website and within a week he had implemented it in the extension and it works perfectly. 5 stars easy!

Not sure how to report this. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max the “stop keyboard page zoom” function is not working on safari…

I love being able to see changes in realtime. Gotta say I really like this extension; it doesn't do anything shady like "phoning home" (soooo many other apps do) and it's chock-full of handy little quality of life tools to quickly get rid of common annoyances. Great for when trying to do stuff on a small screen. I also really appreciate how interactive most of the features are so I can just click on things instead of trying to remember a bunch of code. Don't like that annoying thing on a website? Just click the element hider then click the eyesore. Done. You even get to see a preview of your actions along with an easy menu to fine-tune your choice. Between this extension, Web Inspector, and UserScripts - I'm pretty much set.

Wish I had found this sooner.. I could list endless superlatives for the app and the dev. A small bit of the hope for what the internet could have become is restored. Thank you. I even bought the dev’s apps that I didn’t need just to support the effort.

It works!. I really wish the UX/UI was easier to understand without reading the long help page. Maybe the developer could add some hints ( like hit return to add a custom site; or nothing happens). But overall this is a power user Safari extension.

FINALLY! Something that really truly works to stop video autoplay!. I have tried EVERYTHING in the past to stop ESPN from autoplaying their darn videos when I just want to read the article. And StopTheMadness did it! Super easy, and I didn’t need to give this extension permission to everything in the world just to block this one very annoying website. Yeah, this cost a few bucks to buy, but easily worth every penny for solving my problem after years of annoyance. Thank you!!!

Great but oh well. Great app , great functionality but unfortunately it broke the web more then it helped , amazon picture slider doesn’t slide , some menus in other websites just doesn’t open or slide to open , some websites when i click on links on them just open a tab on the same page and it doesn’t redirect me to the link i clicked and just copy same page tabs every single click . But still for those who this worked its great . Kinda feels safari faster without it atm .

Just perfect!!!!!!. I gladly laid out the money for the macOS bundle and the iOS/iPadOS version. Incredibly smart utility, and thank heavens it is offered as an actual purchase and not subscription. It’s so out of hand, and yet it seems everyone is giving into it. Not the developer of this app!!!! He deserves everyone’s support for putting something out there that should be there to begin with but isn’t. Thank you, Jeff, for being smart enough to give us these utilities!!!

Total gem!. The macOS version of this app may be my favorite piece of software so I’m thrilled to have it on iOS too. Possibly the best deal in the AppStore. (Glowing review notwithstanding, I am not in any way affiliated with developer—aside from being a huge fan.) Seriously: a great deal for a great app.

I never leave reviews but…. This extension is amazing. One of my favorite websites to go to is Pitchfork.com and the music website ironically stops my music playing whenever I’m on the website. This app solved that ongoing issue. One of my best purchased apps

Never thought Security would be so important today, but Crooks have created words like Scam Spoof and so on! They are not stupid they change things hoping to get your money and Identity. Well worth the cost. So glad there are still good developers out there who aren’t greedy scammers and parasites. This extension is truly amazing. It fixes so many things that Apple or other companies and websites refuse to fix and mitigates ‘features’ they add that ultimately ruin the experience. Stops the auto play videos. Videos still chase me, but at least they’re not autoplaying!

Is it working?. Honestly can’t tell what it’s doing for me. I purchased on a whim and now keep trying to find the benefit. Maybe it’s obscured by my existing ad blocker. A better UI would help too. Whenever I change options , I can’t tell if I’m changing global settings or a specific site’s settings. 3 stars until features are better observed.

Wish it could block Subscribe to email popups. Works pretty well, I would love an option to block pops from websites asking you to Subscribe to their newsletters.

Get Adblock app instead. You never really need this app if you have Adblock. Regret my purchase. Can’t even get a refund because apple support page is not working correctly.

5/5 makes mobile web browsing feel good again. I not only use this extension for myself, but have set it up for my family members as well. Does the job of many other individual extensions, but in one app! A quality app that’s well worth it. If my prior low star review is still up, it can be disregarded as I thought I was reviewing some subscription game 🙈

kills autoplay videos DEAD!!!. STM has a lot of great features, but for me-by FAR-the single most compelling feature is the one which prevents videos from autoplaying. why Apple have refused to bring this feature to Mobile Safari is beyond me, but now i don’t have to care! huzzah!

Finally! This stops auto play videos!. I watch YouTube on pip or in background and half the sites pause YT for their auto play vids. Hate it! This appears to stop them. You have to enable the extension in Settings…AND then click on the puzzle button in Safari’s search bar and click “Allow Stop the Madness”. Then scroll down and enable “Stop Autoplay”. It’s not enabled automatically, ironic...

Essential. Just get this essential tool and save yourself a lot of headache when browsing the web. The “modern” web is a trash heap of marketing managers’ bad ideas, and intrusive tracking and analytics nonsense topped with an unhealthy dose of annoyance. This tool helps bring a little sanity back. For a little while at least.

Amazing customer service. I thought I’d gotten a lemon if an app, but the attentive customer service tells me this app has room to grow and customer service willing to help you understand whatever you don’t. Best customer service from any app hands down.

Bye bye AMP!!. So excited to be done with Google amp links. All of the other privacy features are really excellent to have as well. Will probably have to get this for my Mac now too.

Great Safari Extension. This app provides controls to Safari that are available with non-iOS browsers. I highly recommend it. (Apple neuters all other browsers in the Apple App Store. Can't wait for the EU to force Apple to allow access to other app stores.)

Finally stop video auto play!. This extension is worth every single penny because it is the only method I’ve found that actually stops websites from auto-playing videos. I realize a lot of people like watching videos all day long and want them autoplaying. I am not one of those people. I’m sure this extension has other useful features that I’ll eventually discover, but finally stopping auto play was the primary reason I was willing to spend money. Very satisfied.

Just amazing all around!. This app really takes care of a lot; the developer continually updates it as well. I’m always seeing new things added or small bugs corrected. I personally haven’t experienced any bugs, but you can be sure that if you ever do they will be ironed out. This developer works actively on this app; the continued updates and support it receives is very reassuring. I look forward to seeing what else comes to this app. In a world of free to download, but pay to subscribe apps I find it hard to actually purchase something outright. Can’t live without it. This app keeps getting better and better, especially with the « prevent most banners from popping up » and native video controls! And all the other good, sanity-restoring stuff.

A Must have app for those with limited Data. The extension stops automatic video ads on websites. I had tried plenty of other apps but none of them worked.

1 STAR!. Because there is no ZERO available! Like some other poster said, this App is designed to break the web sites not stop the madness because it actually creates its very own madness! Issues caused by this App affects many popular sites. Not to mention, developer is very much not approachable! You can tell by his responses to users who leave negative feedbacks!

It breaks websites. It’s more than an ad blocker but it doesn’t block ads, it stops anti functionality by breaking websites. Like the send button on kijiji message or the rest of their menu icons go blank. This is just one example, what does this program do? Go to YouTube and fiddle around with the “preserve functionality “ only to find out YouTube website puts the stuff anywhere with little concern to this app. I honestly don’t know what it does for 13 bucks. You can get cheaper amp apps. That do just that, every app developer is trying to make a Swiss Army knife and they aren’t even Swiss. Jack of all trades master of none. Im sure it does it’s amp blocking just fine, but all the extra features are there to increase the value of the app without adding anything.

Works as advertised. Tested and works

It FIXES web sites. Contrary to what another review said, STM does not break web sites. It fixes them. It eliminates a wide variety of annoyances, including some that other extensions only eliminate one by one, for a total expense that is much higher. It does have a few more “experimental” features that might not work right for everyone, but those are clearly labelled as such and are never on by default. If you have any issues, don’t write a lousy review. Contact the developer and he’ll help you figure it out.

The essential fix for broken browsers. I’ve been using STM (desktop and mobile) since forever. Combine it with with a decent ad and tracker blocker and find yourself back in the good old days of web browsing. It works on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. The documentation is clear, the settings are easy to manage and the developer will help you out with any problems at the drop of a hat. You really can’t get any better way to Stop The Madness!
