Terrible. Full of bugs. After years of using this app I’m done. I can’t believe I donated money to this project. The people that run it don’t seem to even want to listen when you have an easily reproducible problem. Save yourself the hassle and find a better encryption solution.

Didn’t work.. It’s iffy, but when it works it works well.

Frohe Weihnachten/Merry Christmas. Very slick integration to the Files app and makes adding an encryption step to your document management very easy. What was a download/edit/upload before, is a one stop shop. Much appreciated and nice present for the end of 2021. Thank you!

App is broken. I cannot view my files on my iPhone or on my iPad. When I try to login to my account again, it errors out. When I try to add my vault again, it errors out. How is this acceptable? I donated money to Cryptomator a few years ago and I am appalled at the quality of it now.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the ethical way you handled this matter. Cryptomator. Very good and worth a donation to keep it going.

Unable to edit. If I try to edit a word doc, I get e message saying “Can’t save - Something’s wrong and your changes can’t be saved” Then after that the document gets corrupted and I am unable open it again.

OneDrive and Microsoft Authenticator. Trying to add a OneDrive vault. When I click + to add the vault it loads the Microsoft Authenticator app instead of OneDrive. Therefore, I can’t add a vault with OneDrive

Excellent. Easy to use, does what it says.

Cryptomator. All in all I love the app, I still need to link certain accounts to it but the presentation of it is very neat and navigable.

Amazing. The files implementation has made this app even better than before. So easy to navigate my files now.

Doesn’t work. It creates folder in the chosen cloud drive but doesn’t encrypt anything.

Almost cost my most important data. I would strongly suggest don't try it before you completely backup your data

Lacks upload progress in UI. The integration with Files is pretty good. It’s nice being able to finally swipe through a directory of photos. The lack of any kind of progress bar for uploads is kind of a deal breaker though. I get lots of files stuck in the “waiting” status while transferring to the cloud and there’s not much I can do. Files won’t even let you delete the files that are in transit so you’re stuck with them. I’ll be using the original app while 2.0 gets worked out.

A+. We all know tech companies can be as sneaky as a cat burglar. They're snooping around your data like it's their own personal playground, handing it out to marketers and even governments! But fear not, there's a cure for this pervasive evil: Cryptomator! It's your data fortress, where prying eyes go to meet their doom. Think of it as the digital equivalent of giving the shady tech companies a hearty middle finger.

No Auto Photo Upload. A key feature seems to be missing. Auto upload of photos.

Not reliable. It’s a good concept but after using it for about a year it doesn’t seem to be reliable enough for me. The desktop app can no longer open my vault even after updating. Luckily the mobile app can so I could at least move my data elsewhere. But that process was cumbersome too, I had to use airdrop in small batches. In the end I also lost access to my vault on mobile. Some of the files came out corrupted as well but I’m not sure if it was due to Cryptomator, airdrop, or something else. I did like the easy fingerprint access in the native files app.

Fantastic App. Self hosted encrypted file vault. Exactly what is required to safely store important documents in cloud backed up storage.

They should have left well alone.. The problems began when they fully integrated with Apple’s Files app. When I say problems, I mean security breaches. What’s worse is they killed off the original Cryptomator also known as Legacy. The original was not dependent on the Files app and it worked without exposing one’s encrypted data. Consequently, I’ve moved on and no longer make donations.

Great. But confused with ROM take. Encrypt iPhone local files, one encrypted file occupies 2 times of ROM. It's store in local files, view in the app files, why also take iPhone's ROM in Cryptomator? Confused

Useless. It is deceiving by telling us its free but its free for 30 days only. I doubt its functionality based on other reviews also. I do not recommend.Just update your ios and use its inbuilt encryption to upload to icloud.

major regression from the original version. Beware, unlike the original cryptomator (version 1), this app will keep a Files app window open with cached vault files even after quitting cryptomater, and furthermore, the value files will be in the Files app’s Recents list. A workaround is to lock the vault before exiting cryptomator.

Worth Every Penny!. I absolutely love this app! I use it with iCloud Drive and it’s nice to have peace of mind knowing that my data is encrypted so that no one, not even Apple, can access it. The app works well and I have no complaints.

New App Version = Can't Download Vault. The new Cryptomator looks slick, but it lacks some fundamental features, most notably, the ability to browse files within the app itself. This also allowed for downloading all of the files so you didn't have to worry about not having them when your iPad was off-line now you have to go through every file and download each of them because the Files app doesn't provide the feature to just download a selected list of files. This is a big loss.

iCloud vault doesn’t work anymore with the files app. This app seems to have broken with the latest updates and iOS changes. Have to go back to using the Cryptomator 1 legacy app to use it with iCloud. Could you please fix this for your paying customers?!

A great crypto solution. I’d give it five stars, except for a recent problem. I’ve been using Cryptomator with a Dropbox share on an iPhone XS for several years. It has always worked well. A few days ago I replaced that phone with a 15 Pro and now whenever I attempt to open the Cryptomator folder I am told “Error unable to perform unauthorized operation”. This message doesn’t give me much to work with. I’ve tried to modify my Dropbox settings to resolve this error, but haven’t had any success.

Can’t say enough good things. I’m extremely grateful for the work the Cryptomator team does for making files in cloud storage private and secure and at a very affordable price. Everything only gets better with this new app with Files integration. The app makes your end-to-end encrypted files feel native and a part of iOS/iPadOS rather than being confined to a separate app. With the new app, I can much more conveniently edit/update files without going through so many steps. FaceID integration is great too. I know I probably sound like a total fanboy right now, but as a privacy advocate and for how great Cryptomator is, the compliments are well-deserved. This app is easily worth the money. Keep up the great work Cryptomator team, and thank you for the great app!

LOCK From Files App. UPDATE: thank you for responding. The ‘Unlock Duration’ function does not have an option for ‘immediate re-lock’ which would be ideal. Beyond that, long pressing a file to access a ‘lock vault’ trigger would be great as well. There needs to be a way to lock your vault from the Files App. Without it, then there’s no point in leaving the Cryptomator app to access your files since you have to return to the same app to re-lock your vault after you’ve finished use it. I don’t know why anyone would want to leave their vault open in the general files App when they’re not using it. Other than that, it’s a great app and a great service.

App is totally broken. Every time I try to unlock any of my vaults I get an error that says "Unable to perform unauthorized operation" and it just errors out. If I try to use the Face ID and store the password it simply gets stuck in a silent fail loop where I can hit "Unlock" in the Files app over and over again and nothing happens.

Legacy. Please bring back legacy as when I encrypt videos to Google drive it don’t upload! With legacy I had no issues. I’ll be looking for something better until legacy Cryptomator comes back if it does

Very buggy and lost files.. I wanted to like this app and support what they are doing, but I don’t know if I can trust it to keep my backup of my files. I get error messages saying I can’t change my password when trying to change my vault password in iCloud. Also when trying to create a folder within a vault it gives two errors saying “You can't use a name that ends with a space. Please choose another name.” And duplicates items already in the vault into an new untitled folder which is very strange. So far it has not convinced me of being a reliable encryption app for my iPhone. I have paid for the full version also. I just copied documents to a vault in iCloud and wanted to move it to another vault in iCloud and now it gives me an error message “The file doesn't exist. The file “example" couldn't be copied because it either doesn't exist or the folder it is being copied to doesn't exist. Then I go look at the folder I just copied and no files are in there with the message “Content Unavailable The folder contents could not be displayed because of an unknown error. Try Again” so where are my files!? What’s the use of encryption if you cannot trust it to backup files correctly in the first place. Any feedback on how to change my iCloud vault password I’m still getting the error even after restarting my phone: Error Operation cannot be performed because other background operations for this vault have to finish first. Please try again later.

Incredibly POWERFUL App. Only a slight learning curve, but highly desirable. Ability to encrypt/decrypt large amounts of files very quickly and mainly in an organized manner both sterile and unsterile! Makes an outside attempt for an “organizational file-tree summary” absolutely impossible! 10 STARS! I HOPE you keep up the minor OS updates!

hm. I'm a bit confused. Do we need both apps now? If I delete the old version of Cryptomator, I no longer have an option in my photos to save to Cryptomator at all, and thus no way to add files!

Perfect.. This app fills the niche that it sets out to fill perfectly. Absolutely ideal to make secure use of a cloud service you’re already paying for. Only suggestion I have is a way for the secure folder to automatically lock after x amount of time. But I’m not sure if that’s something iOS lets you do so I’m not going to ding it.

Great dev support. Was locked out of my vault and Devs were very quick to help get things straightened out. Thx! (turned out it was an issue with OneDrive and not Cryptomator). Thx for this great app!!!

Diamond in the Rough. It’s unfortunate that this incredible little app isn’t as popular on iOS as it is on Android. This is, by far, the most genius application when it comes to cloud file encryption. Your own personal secret vault, right there in your cloud storage, without anyone knowing what’s in it except you. This is an invaluable tool, especially with all the data breaches and privacy leaks. I personally don’t trust any cloud service with my personal photos, videos, and files. This app gives me 100% assurance that my files are completely safe, secure, and encrypted. A diamond in the rough indeed!

Serious Bug. iPhone SE2 iOS 15.4 Can't open Cryptomator2, blank screen. Nothing is displayed. Cryptomator1 runs well.

Cannot access onedrive account. I have reinstalled the app and when I log into onedrive, no account is added

Even better. This was a great idea when it first launched and it’s even better now. The iCloud integration on iOS is smooth and is perfect for moving securely between MacOS and iOS. My workflow has changed lots over the years but now it doesn’t have to. Excellent project.

Great!!. I started using this after having problems with Boxcryptor, which luckily I did because that one ended up ceasing their business due to Dropbox acquisition. I like this better, easier to use, and no problems syncing with Files. I think the paid version is only for making encrypted vaults on mobile, which is free using their desktop app. I got one anyway to support the service. Definitely recommend this for extra security!

Works!. A little confusing to set up, but works!

Extremely bugguy. I deeply regret to have invested in both M1 Apple and Cryptomator, these systems do not really work together, either ipad or MacBook Air. I do not recommand.

There’s an Cryptomator iPhone app!??!. I did not know this incredible service has an iPhone app… It just keeps getting better! I’m debating on choosing which cloud service to use as my main. They all have their cons but having Cryptomator makes everything better!!!! Best part, I don’t need to use my pc :D

Beautiful app, but... I love Cryptomator. I use it across all my devices and I happily donate to this project. However, my cloud provider is MEGA, and on iOS I’m not able to use my MEGA vault on Cryptomator. Adding support for MEGA vaults would be amazing.

Native integration with ProtonDrive. When will native integration with ProtonDrive arrive?

File Deletion Not Working. After deleting a file in cryptomator for an encrypted vault located in google drive, the file gets restored back after 10 seconds. Deletion is an essential feature and it just doesnt work with google drive

What is the difference: free Vs. paid?. What is the difference between free and paid versions? Are there any ads in free version?

Love It. Used Cryptomator 1 and enjoyed it. Glad to see 2 was a free upgrade for previous customers. I like how files is now integrated, tbh it makes it easier to use. My only request is, can we have the ability to relock our vault via files? At the moment, I am able to unlock my vault by launching files directly and ignoring the cryptomator app. This is because files launches a screen from the app to unlock it. Can there be an equivalent for locking? Instead of having to open the app after visiting the contents of our vault in files?

Lack important features to use it everyday. Lack of offline options for both files and folder. I would have preferred a well built app (like google drive) than an integration with the app « Files » from iOS which is really limited and lacking in features. Otherwise the concept is great!
