Not newbie friendly. Visually looks good, but the functionality of the interface is clunky and doesn’t feel intuitive even as a longtime player. I don’t think this is a smooth introduction to list building. It has similar issues to the 40K app that I think the previous AoS app actually was actually better about. Feels like a step backwards from the old app in some ways

Gained a Star. I would give this app five stars for the level of game play tools it offers. It’s a good app. But it loses a star because 2e game rules are simply better overall for casual players so I still get more value from the old app. Still kudos on the development and support of this app. Adding legends, fixing Nagash to be usable on Nighthaunt lists; good job! Now fix 3e by making all the turn by turn points calculation and new battle tactics thing a battle plan(s) instead of the game itself. It is super immersion breaking to battle plans that are meant to be quick and violent or simple.

Doesn’t work. Tried loading it up twice. Just a flash and its gone. Then I get a generic response from the developer telling me to update it. I ask. How does one update an app you can’t even open? Magic I guess. Just a miserable experience across the board.

Pretty good!. The app has show progressive improvements! Doesn't update with new information same day as release but it updates quickly! Very helpful overall.

New bug breaks the app. I love the app and use it all the time but the latest update has caused the app to crash every time I even try to open it. I’ve heard it can be fixed by reinstalling twice but I don’t want to lose the many lists I have brewed in the app. If they fix this bug I’ll definitely edit my rating since the app has been wonderful up until this point.

Reskinned 40k app with the same problems. Similarly to the 40k app this also features broken list building functionality, which I don't hold much hope of being fixed given how long those kinds of bugs have gone unreasolved in the 40k app.

Still don’t like it.. Overall I really do not like this app. A definite decline in usefulness. The app works and is essentially a clone of the 40K app. The layout of the warscrolls is not good compared to what to the original version which worked very well. You could see all of a units weapons at one glance. Now you have scroll thru any unit that has more than 3-4 weapons or a damage chart. The white space is way too much given a mobile phones screen size. The header text for each ability is too big. It can be reduced to make more room for the abilities. The one thing I really dislike is that there is no PDF available for any of the battletomes. I used to read them on my phone or iPad and can’t now. Very disappointing given how easy it is to create them. One more thing that gets me is that prerelease battletomes are not unlocked on the app. So if you buy an army box you cannot use the Battletome on the app until it’s released to the public. It could be a security thing but that’s not the reason I was given when I asked about unlocking it.

Recent update crashes on launch. Love this app! It’s incredibly useful but this most recent update causes the app to crash on launch. Once fixed I’ll change my review to 5*

Could be great, but isn’t. I really like the app. It’s clean and intuitive. But yet, there are things that just haven’t gone right or been fixed since launch. The app randomly crashes, especially when you’re placing units into core battalions. There are typos on warscrolls and often times the numbers shift a column or two on bracketed characters. Updated to battletomes, warscrolls, and FAQs take too long. I’m not a fan that people have to buy every 3.0 book just to use an army. It has great potential, but has done little to be enhanced since launch.

Latest update crashes on startup. I’m running the latest OS on both my iPhone and iPad, the app immediately crashes on startup on both devices. I thought it might only be on iPad, because I had been having issues with crashes there before. Now I can’t access the app on either device. Wish I hadn’t updated.

it’s something. there are currently a lot of units that don’t have pictures so i would like to see less of those and also the sylvaneth and beasts of chaos factions have a warning that says that the army either has too mnay seasons of war bonuses of that you need to pick a season of war bonus and both of those warnings just won’t go away no matter what i do its really annoying to me so please fix it.

Why are you ignoring Legends support?. I have a Chaos Dwarf (Legion of Azghor) army and while you have the warscrolls for the army, and the associated points… I can’t make an army? GW acknowledges that it is an army. An army that you arbitrarily stopped supporting and gave a very weak, borderline insulting, third edition “update” to as a passing thought and then shifted it to legends in the app. And then you make it so we can’t use those rules in matched/competitive play or even casual play. GW did the same to Bretonnians, Tomb Kings, Orcs and Goblins. If you don’t want to support certain armies anymore at least give your client base a warning. As for the app, this is just one more little thing. Support Legends. GW says they support narrative play. Then support it!

Functional….sometimes. The app is really useful for reading warscrolls and making lists but it has issues that cause it to crash frequently and they aren’t getting better.

White Dwarf Updates are super inconsistent. The app works fine. In some ways it’s great. But it is riddled with errors and inconsistencies. One of the most egregious is the inconsistent application of white dwarf rules. For some reason GW has decided to only add some time celestial updates to the app while not adding others. For instance, OBR’s rules were just added to the app at the same time the white dwarf magazine was released. However, they have not included the white dwarf rules for Slaves To Darkness which are now months old. This is super frustrating because if you have the magazine and the rules in hand, you know your list is legal, but the app doesn’t apply the rules and the list looks illegal. This is unacceptable. BattleScribe is a much better, and free option.

Bugs abound. The app has so much potential, but it seems to introduce more bugs nearly every update. Now I can’t open up armies I’ve built because the buttons don’t work unless you tap in very specific spots, it seems like it has to crash every time I assign a command trait and randomly in between. It does look like most of the army build options finally do what they’re supposed to do, at least for any of the armies I play. But if GW’s app team can’t put out an even remotely stable and bug free app — like many, if not most other development teams seem perfectly capable of doing — people are going to just keep flocking to other options. They might not look as snazzy but at least they don’t get worse with every update.

2/5. Would be higher if the data matched up to what is in the books more consistently, quicker updates, and if I didn’t lose all my lists I have created everytime I update, as you must delete and reinstall in order to get accurate information.

Crashing Issues. I really enjoy this app, however it’s put together with shoe strings, scotch tape and hope. It seems everytime the app is updated, something routinely crashes until they patch it. This latest update, the app crashes on launch repeatedly.

Under-rated. App must have improved substantially because a lot of reviews do not correctly reflect current state of app. Core rules laid out really well, everything is quick and snappy. No bugs or crashes so far. Used it for several matches for battle scrolls and it worked flawlessly. Aesthetically pleasing however I do wish we could tap to get bigger pictures/official gallery on the models. It would be amazing to have basic lore and maybe a link to books/articles etc that reference the model. It’s asking a lot but I think if they keep updating the app and continue to support the game digitally how they seem to be the gap in support and quality compared to other war games will only grow more substantial.

App crashing. Every time I try to make a list and try to choose a faction the app crashes. I reinstalled and all my old lists got deleted and I still can’t make a new one. Been about a week dealing with it. Hope it gets fixed soon

Great app!. Great app! Makes reading the rules fast and easy. List building in this app is clean and helps you out by showing you key ability rules before selection. It’s needs some updates. I hope they will get to the point when FAQ’s are synced up. Hopefully the app gets better when we have to pay. Definitely an upgrade from the old AoS app!

Fun quick builds. Bug found: Brawlsmasha is not being loaded with the MegaGargant mercenaries. I enjoy using the app biggest complain would be not being able to change subfactions once a list is created

Every update something breaks. Every time the app is updated a previously available option breaks and is no longer in the application. The most recent update removed the ability to add the general role for varanguard to knights of the empty throne.

Crashes when trying to choose army faction. Since the second to latest update, I experience a crash every time I press the choose army faction button. I hope this gets fixed soon because I really love this app.

Going to need cloud sync. If you want this to compete with Battlescibe, or even just a cloud folder, it's going to need to be able sync lists between app platforms

Don’t know about this. Ok, I’ve been waiting on this since I subscribed. Some of the Warscroll images don’t render. Maggotkin of Nurgle list builder doesn’t work, it displays Chaos Armies. I’ve tried a couple more and they all work fine. Yes it’s free, kinda. One of the reasons I subscribed to Warhammer+ was for this app. So far Warhammer+ & this App are a thumbs down. Not enough content and dodgy app.

So what! I’m a big baby. Going to be full on childish with this one folks but: gotta get bigger pictures. I mean, isn’t that the only reason we would want something like that on our phones in the first place? Sexy high DEF photos of all of these awesome Warhammer crazy beasts, demons, soldiers clad and head to toe celestial armor, vampires, steampunk dwarves, more demons. Oh excuse me “DAEMONS”. Otherwise we just buy the books… Wait a minute!?

Useless on iPad. For the most part the app is alright. Random crashes when I accidentally go into a locked area and some other minor annoyances that I probably wouldn’t have left a review for, but I cannot see the damage characteristic of my units, leaving me guessing until I get the book. So the app is worthless on the iPad for me.

New update broke list creation. Updated my iOS version and army creation works again. Overall great app I spend hours building and tweaking lists.

Seriously!?!. Opens up and then immediately freezes. Every time. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling. What was wrong with the old app again?

App no longer works. App normally works great for me, but starting this morning the app crashes immediately upon trying to open it. Using an iOS device.

Very good app don’t believe the haters. This is for the AOS App. It works great. There is an amazing amount of functionality. There are bugs. I have submitted a few bug reports. They reply and fix them. Unclear why this app is so low ranked. Likely it is based on prior versions so not relevant. I use this app all the time.

Crud and Grabage. Have to be online to sign in. Can’t sign in them you can’t access the books or information a lot of money was spent on. Not every place has internet access and I have an iPad that is not cellular. This is another in a long line of rubbish GW ideas. bring back the old AOS app, drop this trash.

Doesn’t Even Open. Just updated to the newest version of the app with the Incarnate and it crashes on launch. Tried reinstalling and the same thing. Kinda frustrating considering I rely on this for games and I can’t see any of the rules and I lost all my lists.

Disappointed. It looks a lot better than the original app more user friendly but it has a lot of crashing issues for instance when choosing a faction to make an army list it crashes and some other bugs they need to fix.

Galation champ/sworn bodyguard. Since the last update there are some issues when putting units with 4 wounds in the sworn bodyguard detachment. You can’t make an ogre list with that detachment currently.

Fast and frequent updates. The app is great. If we are going to rag on GW when they do things wrong they should get credit where credits is due. This app is amazing. All warscrolls, immediate points updates, well organized rules. They keep adding to it and improving small things. Eventually I’d like to see it support PtG rosters and lists. But it’s amazing for matched play.

Missing options - Broken. The new GHB has been out for months, and I am unable to assign Gallet champion abilities to my heroes. (I have tried to update and reinstall multiple times.) Additionally other enhancements like ensorcelled banners are also missing. For an official app, this is missing a lot of doodads to make a game functional list.

Its ok free needs a few things. The app is being improved noticeably month after month the sectioning isn’t too bad compared to the old app now that the allegiances are being shown in the same sections. A few things that would improve it is general bug fixes example: being shown the error sign when choosing big yellers sub faction for kruleboyz for not taking a command trait that belongs to the sub faction, when there are no command trait specific to said sub faction. Overall bugs are being removed and it takes time to perfect such a wide array of armies that can be tailored in so many different ways. A few basic things I hope to see in the app are the ability to search up tags as you could in the old app and hopefully adding the ability to search up filters in army creator would help sorting and finding exactly what newer players want to make a list around even better like searching spiderfang when looking through the massive amount of gloomspite and finding what goes with what and what units they’re referring to for abilities that go off tags without searching through every warscroll. Last thing which is a distance hope since it is already appreciated you added in legends units and even added new points cost with some changed rules was amazing to see as a legion of azghor player, but one thing I can’t see is the ability to make a list with all these newly added wonderful warscrolls that have been added to the app. With all that said good app for what it is thankfully it is given for free right now until everything has been adjusted so thank you for giving us the chance to try it in the meantime.

Completely unusable. Following the update, if you try to add an army in storm forge, the app closes itself. I’ve restarted my phone a few times, and reloaded the app. Still the same. Very Frustrating.

Was great but now I can’t even get on. This app has improved a great deal since it started but now I can’t even get the app to start on both my iPhone and iPad. So I’ve lost my army lists for several armies. First thing it does when I turn on is open it to login screen then immediately turns off and then after trying to restart it, it just immediately shuts off and not even go to login screen. So that’s great (it’s actually not)!

Needs iPad support. Works great on mobile but really needs work for running on iPads

Good but unreliable on IOS. Great tool to reference army/ game rules on the fly as well as build your own army lists. If it crashes you might need to re-download it on IOS. This happens to the app after every IOS update recently

Disappointed so far. Compared to the old one there are a few things i like but much more to dislike. One of the biggest issues is not being able to edit anything once you’ve picked it. Renaming armies or even changing sub factions just doesn’t work, so start from scratch each time. This wouldn’t be as big an issue if you saw the subfaction bonuses etc when choosing. Navigation can be annoying and clunky at times, constantly backing out of armies instead of just moving from selecting models vs army. I’d love it if your choices on units/leaders etc showed on their warscroll to save some time/room. So if i choose one weapon and not another only the one I’ve chosen is listed etc. I’ve also had issues adding Coalition forces, endless spells etc.

App crashes. I really enjoyed this app until the recent updates. It’s a handy tool for playing AOS without having to bring a ton of books. Ever since the last update the app crashes and is unusable. Really disappointed.

Awesome App with everything you need. This is a great app! Yes, you may need to buy physical copies of battletomes or GHB’s to unlock the descriptions of certain factions or sub factions, or seasonal rules, but … that doesn’t stop you from building an army and accessing rules, warscrolls, or selecting enhancements/artifacts. It’s really everything you need. And awesome to reference when playing a match. Finally, it does get updated (rather quickly I might add) with each new battletome release and is absolutely the best way to build army lists! Give it a go!

A step in the right direction. I have been using the old app for years and when I see this app I feel like it was a step down quality. That being said it seems to have learned from the mistakes of the 40K app and that might be due to having a completely different system but it is an improvement. Aesthetically speaking it is a downgrade. Rules wise is a mixed bag. The rules that are there are easy to understand and are current. I still don’t like the system of you need to buy the physical book to view the brand new stuff. Just let us buy a digital version like the old one and please allow us to change army names and point limits after creating said army in app. Also if they are going to charge for it make cheap like previous app just 99 cents or keep it free. I don’t want to be spending 5 dollars for a half baked app like 40K. Overall better than 40K but still needs more polishing.

Can’t use it anymore. It just crashes every single time I open the app, without fail. Very frustrating, I didn’t keep any physical backup of my lists so now I have to just hope I remember right.

There’s No Right Way to Hold it. 12 years after the introduction of the iPad, I’m still getting apps that force me to turn my tablet sideways. Why? There is no reason. For a company that makes such great art, you would think their apps would have superior, or even good (or even mediocre) user interface design.

Latest Update Locked Content. True to their word, GW has decided that not just the nitty gritty of the armies would be locked away but now warscrolls for any 3.0 army are now only available to those who have their books. This means this app is only worth it as a compliment to your books. Considering they also plan to lock functionality behind their subscription (which won’t let you see the full rules even still), I suggest looking for a new companion app for your games.

Decent attempt missing the little things. It’s not terrible, but it is significantly lacking in the little things that are necessary for a good warscroll builder. -Need a way to rename lists -Lists need organized in roles instead of “last added” -Sort needs to be more intuitive so it’s more user friendly. Even just having it remember your filters is worth it.

App crashing. Ever since the newest update, the app crashes before it even opens, content and army lists are great

Latest patch. The app crashes on start up from the latest patch. Very frustrating.

Won’t even start. Won’t start, can’t tell why. Troubleshooted everything I could.

Constant crashes. App was working fine but now as soon as I try to select an army faction app crashes.

Disappointing after the hype. Had high expectations with the new app alongside the launch of Warhammer+. Feels like it should be an exciting time for AoS fans and players but this app falls flat. Lots of basic functionality is missing such as the ability to edit army details (name, sub-faction, points), and it feels quite clunky overall, with many basic UX considerations not really thought about. All in all, this feels like an early stage proof of concept that was rushed out the door, not an app release candidate that was ready for the audience. Even so, I am confident this will get better over time as the many missing features are added, so I hope to come back with a more glowing review!

Name characters. Would love an option to give my characters their own unique names. Or add a name generator. These aren’t necessary but will add a lot of fun and customisation to the app.

Needs work. First off, there are a number of cool additions to this app that are greatly appreciated. For example, the framework for the army builder works quite well. The army builder informs you if your army is invalid and correctly prompts you to fox those issues. The search and filter functions are also great. The inclusion of all the developer commentaries and battlescrolls is amazing and I am so glad they are added. The interface is clean and simple to use. However, there are a number of bugs and/or design issues that I need to report, mainly from my experiences as a Lumineth player. 1) I cannot apply a spell to my battle line units (wardens, sentinels, dawnriders ect). 2) Aetherquartz reserves I believe can be chosen in the moment, you do not need to pre choose that ability. But if you do not select an ability, your army is deemed invalid. 3) why are 1000 and 2000 point armies the only size options available. 4) I cannot rename my army after it is created. 5) I cannot reorder my units within an army after they have been added. 6) The app freezes and requires you to restart your device and/or reinstall the app before it works again. 7) is there an option to back up your armies to I-Cloud??

Low effort. Fixed Aspect Ratio makes it look horrible on iPad (just like the 40K app), with large black bars down the sides. The previous Sigmar app looked a whole lot better, and has no issues with different aspect ratios, running full screen no matter what. Overall feel/look of the app is a massive downgrade on the previous one. Absolute waste of time making an inferior product and forcing it on us

Lavidon warscroll incorrect. Upon checking the laviadon warscroll for the attack, it shouldn’t be D3 damage. Please fix that ASAP thanks. It’s wrong for a few months now

Suggested Improvements. Love the app except for the following: - Screen width is cut to be made narrower when turning my IPad on it’s side. This means that when I’m writing an army list and selecting units, I can’t see the full text when I click on a unit’s rules in the add unit screen. - It would be great to be able to filter allies by faction e.g. look at only allies from Sylvaneth instead of all allies. - It would be great to be able to only look at allies in the add units screen rather than allies and your faction. - At this point, I can’t see most Lumineth allies in the add units screen when writing a Cities of Sigmar list even though they can be allied.

Needs a duplicate feature for lists. Great app, really useful. Needs a duplicate options for lists. Playing competitively I’m always tweaking my lists. It’s a pain to have to start from scratch when 70% of the list stays the same

What are you talking about?. Works beautifully. Only problem is sometimes it won’t load at all. But when it does it’s great. You should add unit name customization, and a few other things like that, but still very good. Also, in the GH 2020, there’s the Anvil of Apotheosis, and a digital version of that would be awesome, so I can add them to my lists . Finally, if you could include cost to purchase models, like Games Workshop API, that would be great. Thanks. App is great, but all Sylvaneth spells and artifacts don’t load. Sylvaneth artifacts and spells don’t load properly when selecting them on a hero/wizard, just a spinning wheel forever

Crashes instantly on launch. Other than the list of unfixed bugs since launch (like empty list of artifacts and random crashes) I am no longer able to launch the app at all. I pay to have my books on this…

Currently not working for iPad. iPad updated last night and now this app doesn’t work

A good representation of how GW views customers. This “app” is unfinished and lacking a large amount of features one would expect to be in a battle scribe competitor. If I’m going to buy all of my books through this, then I’d like to see more care taken to make that experience a rewarding one. The login process is a nightmare and the forgotten password process sends you to a 404 page once you get the email and click the link. I had to give up and go in for free. As a free user this app is useless if you want to see the rules for the army lists you make. Lists allow you to remove units using a little X mark. The mark is formatted off of the page and is really hard to select. Knowing GW I’m willing to bet that they didn’t pay for any QA and refuse to put any money into this program. For a multi billion dollar company to put out such cheap crap shows how little they care about their customers. Pathetic, but expected at this point. Basically the Acti/Blizz of the wargaming world.

New content Integration not clear. I’ve had the app for a while and have been satisfied, but the recent update has issues. The wars roll template doesn’t fit correctly into the frame which means that sections of the wars roll are inaccessible. This means I cannot read the warscroll. As an example, reading Sekhar’s warscroll, I cannot see what her movement or save values are, and because I can’t read the full description of her rules, I don’t know how to use her. Please rescale the wars rolls to match the iFrame, and the app will be a five star experience

Does this App do anything?. I get a screen of a stormcast eternal , and that’s it . Even after deleting and reloading.

Unforgiven bug. App crashed out and I had to uninstall/ install back loosing all my lists…will still use it 1% of the time but use more robust app 99% of the rest. When GW will succeed to be in 2022….

ThEy ArEnT An ApP CoMPanY. ThEy DoNT NeEd To UpDAtE iT! THeY ArE a MinATurE ComPaNY! Man, the gw apologists are nuts. If they are selling and/or advertising a product, app or minature, then they need to make sure that product is up to par. One of the top reviews on here is basically “the app is awesome, it works beautifully! But sometimes it doesn’t.” What? It’s been almost 2 weeks and you still can’t add Great Endrinworks to the KO roster. Why do I have to copy my list into my notepad and add in everything the app doesn’t? Why do I have to reset the app 3-4 times just to delete or open lists? Why did I have to argue for 2 months with my opponents that BlightKings were Galatian champions because they would tell me “the app doesn’t let you do it so you aren’t allowed!” If you are locking other app builders and shutting down Community art and fanmade videos then at least get your products you are replacing them with in order.

Minor glitch. Pink horrors aren’t an option to pick when the regiment of reknown is selected.

New update locks you out of warscrolls. The newest update locks you 100% out of 3rd edition warscrolls for battletomes you don’t know. I own a ton of battletomes and a ton of armies but I am not paying for every single battletome just to see the basic stat line of my opponents armies. Even 40K let’s you see what weapons units can use and their basic stats. This app use to let you see the full warscrolls but not the allegiance abilities, spells, etc. it was a good middle ground. I own 15+ warhammer armies across AOS & 40K. I subscribe to warhammer +. Warhammer is already expensive enough. A change like this will definitely make me rethink how much I want to purchase from GW. So many other games out there that put the rules out for free so you can get excited about an army before committing to a purchase.

Doesn’t update with new rules. For the official app they don’t seem to update it after FAQs or rule updates. This makes it untrustworthy to use.

Wish I could give this -5 stars.. Awful piece of crap. The old app was 50x better than this steaming pile of you know what. Buggy, doesn’t work on iPad, and is practically a re-skin of the garbage 40k app.

A Start… But by no means blown away.. I appreciate the app finally arriving but to me this seems simple and below what could be expected by a company who has created, launched, and maintained apps like this in the past. There’s a lot I like about this app, but I will focus on what needs to change in my opinion. Recommended Changes: To select units for battalions screen, your choices for the selected battalion should be limited to your chosen units, when you don’t have the requirements should be grey’d out and list requirements needed to add. Available battalions listed at the top. You should be able to read about command traits, spells, artifacts, abilities on a tooltip screen when choosing them. Not have to go to a physical book and leave the screen and go to the rules and try to remember what you read before you go back to the screen to choose. Ability to rename armies and editing settings set in the army creation screen. Right now you have to recreate the army to change these settings. Improvements to army screen such as categories like grand alliance, pt value, and filters. Need the ability to record unit modifications like musicians, standard bearers, shields, two handed weapons. If it includes options on the war-scroll for changes, then allow me to select them on the screen for the unit. (that right now has lots of dead space) Conclusion: All of these things are pretty necessary to make the app usable for me over things like BattleScribe. There are so many helpful features I think you could add, but I could be here all day and that’s your job. As a Warhammer+ subscriber, who joined partially because of this app. I hope improvements are made to this app over the coming year, or I will not be resuming my subscription.

Would be cool if it worked. Won’t open on my ipad, screen just flashes white for a second then nothing.

Very delayed updates :(. Takes an inexcusable amount of time for new rules to hit this app :(

Terrible. Won’t work on an iPad.

Broken. Since last update you can no longer add aspects of the champion to galy champs

Unable to build army. I am unable to build an army- every time I try to choose a faction, it kicks me out.

Failed on iPhone. The app was working until a week or two ago. Then the Galletian Champion and Ensorcelled Banners (S2D) options stopped displaying.

Copy of 40K app. This is a carbon copy of the 40K app so if you don’t like using that app you won’t like using this one either.

Unstable. Constantly crashes or won’t open.. App is unusable. After the recent update the app won’t start without crashing.

Paywall and isn’t even scaled for tablets. Like how basic and lazy is this app? A subscription for something that doesn’t even scale for tablet screens. Utterly ridiculous

New update is blatantly lying. “Idolators are now supported” Except my Idolator Lord: Isn’t listed as a Leader, so the app is still saying I need that Isn’t able to be made my General, so the app is still saying I need that Is improperly slotted into Battalions (says it’s a regular unit) Don’t claim something is supported if it’s not. I’d rate 0 stars if I could, the free app BattleScribe is still 1000000000 times better than this garbage.

iPhone Only. Previous app worked perfectly on an iPad. This one is iPhone only unless you enjoy a tiny window in the middle of your iPad, or blowing it up in iPhone compatibility mode.
