SchoolsFirst FCU Mobile Comments & Reviews 2026
Been a member since 2017. Hello to everybody who’s reading this, The first of I just wanted to say that my wife actually got me to join schools first. And since I live in a mountain town of Southern California in San Bernardino mountains are nearest branch office is a good 45 minutes or so. Which means we will have to drive down now now there is multiple mountain communities that have other banks or credit unions, however there is no SchoolsFirst up here in the mountains there is an area credit union which is in Crestline however because the city I live in which is running Springs there is no schools first credit union which I wish there was one close by however this app makes it very convenient when I want to check my account or other things so to the developer thank you for making this app SchoolsFirst FCU Mobile for all the hard work you guys you do. To anybody who is nervous about or this is your first time joining schools first there a good credit union and they care about their customers I’m like thanks. I should know because I had another credit union called area credit union which is a decent credit union however I was able to get a car loan from my schools first credit union and they were definitely definitely 100% customer satisfaction. If you’re going to buy or get in our loan I would suggest using auto land they are the best.
Very disappointed. First off let me say that I’ve had a Schools account for 30+ years and I was contemplating closing my account because of this app. I had the worst time trying to find my log in information and was locked out several times after the merge. They said all info would be the same as before the merge, however, that was false. After waiting on hold for several hours several different times, I finally got through to someone that was willing to sit on the phone with me while I successfully completed logging in. Then, once I had Face ID set up and was familiar with the app something changed. Face ID is gone and I was prompted to change my password. Very frustrating to have to deal with all the changes. And don’t get me started on the new MasterCard...
Don’t read comments prior to nov 9. After reading some of the comments I was a bit worried I was going to look somewhere else for banking. Downloaded the app anyways. Can not confirm any of this issues. In fact the logins process was so easy. (Given that you already setup your account with the book that was sent to you a month ago or so) The app has a way to label purchases to quickly identify what they are ie: food or bills. People complaining are the ones that waited to the last minute to do this or the ones that tried too early when it was clearly stated that it would be completed nov 2nd. The ultimate test will be once I go in person to a branch office. I’m sure they will be as helpful as always.
Does the job but.... There are a lot of significant changes that were made between this app and the old app. It is obvious that it does the job to provide you with your banking options and statements but you have to take a WHILE to navigate if you want to use Zelle or look for a branch. This is something that was way more easier in the previous one. Hence getting a layout honed down would be great, especially if we use the app for Zelle, atm locations, card management and other things that we have to navigate through to get to. It is also not 100% user friendly. It took me two weeks or so to figure certain things out and I personally, don’t like that. In regards to the design, I would say it’s better, but need to focus on user mobility from the previous version to this one! You can’t expect everyone to know where things are especially if they are updating the old app.
just why?. i’ve been with schools for as long as I can remember and have never had any issues or complaints and always spoke so highly of them for so long to other people. this merger and this new app is a complete step back from what I knew and loved about schools. the old app was very straightforward and this one seems like a ticking time bomb for overdraft fees and missing funds. I loved that with the old app you could deposit a check and see it immediately in your bank account but now when you deposit a check there’s no confirmation it was received and you have to wait to even make sure it shows up in your account. I get that it’s a standard for a lot of banks to do that but one of the best features of schools before was the no hassle and no waiting time. I really hope things can improve because so far I am not happy. love the new yellow cards though lol
Horrible backwards new app. Restore the old one please!!!!!. You are probably thinking I don’t like change. I do love change if it is better. But this new app has many problems just like LOGIX CREDIT UNION (looks like the same company made theirs). I have been using LOGIX’s Mobile app for deposits into a family trust, and complained to them about how theirs breaks down all the time, not easy to read, things missing, etc., and ACTUALLY CALLED THEM TO CONVINCE THEM TO GET SCHOOLS FIRST APP FOR MOBILE BANKING BECAUSE IT WAS FAR MORE INTUITIVE AND DOESNT BREAK DOWN LIKE LOGIX’s MOBILE APP. Give you an example; the old Schools First Ap has many deposits listed on one simple screen for checking etc. The new app has MISSING DEPOSITS. That is just one problem of many. I CANNOT BELIEVE SCHOOLS FIRST WENT WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME COMPANY THAT MAKES LOGIX’s APP! WHAT A GIANT STEP BACKWARDS!!! What Backdoor deal did that company do to win SCHOOLS FIRST OVER? WHATEVER IT WAS IT IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD FOR CUSTOMERS.
Educator. I don’t normally write reviews, but given the number of complaints I felt compelled to say something in favor of this app. I was reluctant to download the updated version of this app due to the bad reviews, so when I got a new iPhone I was left with no other choice. Once I did, I immediately noticed the difference in the aesthetics. My account balances and transactions consist of a larger font, which is easier to read. The information is neatly organized so checking my account balances and transferring funds is real easy. This app makes online banking very convenient for me.
Still horrible!!. I’m hoping they fix some bugs but from what I’ve been seeing with the “all new revised app” it’s possibly worse than the previous. Super glitchy and very un-apple like in workings. Hangs up and long pauses between menus so you end up double tapping and it’s scroll past the next menu. As for Zelle it is still worthless with this app. Paid rent and then no confirmation. Went to see pendingzelle transactions and nothing. Waited an hour (Zelle works in 2 minutes at the longest), and nothing. So resubmitted and then a day later 2 transactions went through. $6k now out of my hands and at the mercy of getting back from landlord. Seriously Schools first needs to fire every single person on the app dev team and start fresh. Or just copy what chase bank has or something that actually works. This is very simple work and it’s being executed worse than I thought was possible. Just stop
Worst Banking App by FAR. This app is so appallingly bad I’m legitimately considering leaving this credit union. Which is sad, since I’ve been a member my whole life. It makes me feel very nervous that access to my account is dependent upon a faulty, unreliable app. The old Schools app was easy to use, responsive, and straightforward. When I deposited a check, it showed up right away in my account. This app doesn’t even give an indication that your check was successfully deposited. On the old app, my husband and I could transfer funds into our shared accounts that would be visible immediately, but on the new one, we’re left wondering if the transfer went through for approx 24 hours. This new app has randomly prompted me to change my password, and then change it again, and then say something went wrong and not let me log in. To say this is frustrating is an understatement. With today’s technology, there is no excuse for such an ancient, temperamental app. I haven’t seen a new update for it in quite a while, so it doesn’t seem as if Schools First is bothered by this.
Can’t say anything good about this app. I thought that with as much time as they devoted to supposedly making the merger seamless that things would go at least somewhat smoothly. I can’t even log in to the app to see what’s available or see accounts. I initially was able to try to put in my member number etc but then everything stopped working. Couldn’t even get the screen to work to type in anything. Tried the website and whatever phone numbers I could find and nothing worked. I was able to activate my debit at the atm finally. However I can’t keep track of my account at all if I can’t do online banking. The lines getting into the credit union were long and that hasn’t happened before. Presumably a lot of frustrated customers. I have seen any responses to the new members from the developers yet either. I really liked Schools Credit Union but this merger has me thinking about moving my money to a different credit union. I ,as well as many others apparently, want this problem fixed asap. Going to check out other credit unions over the next few days.
Can’t log on without being logged off right away. In the past I have never had problems with the mobile app...until now. I have been a member for sixteen years and have been very happy with Schools First. It has been VERY FRUSTRATING as I always do my online banking through my phone since I do not have access to my computer at all times, especially when traveling. I have already sent a message to tech support and received a reply saying to delete the app and upload again. IT DID NOT WORK. I am still getting logged off the minute I log in. My phone is updated a question also asked by tech support. I do not want to change banks but if this problem is not fixed I will be left with no choice. What are you doing your end to fix these problems that I keep hearing your so called valued customers are still having?
This app is horrible enough I’m about to quit SF after 30 years. First .. eDeposits are gone on both this app as well as their website. That alone is a deal breaker since with Covid still rampant I’m not about to go stand in line at a local branch if I could, but I’m disabled and don’t drive so that’s out of the question. Second .. the welcome screen is in landscape mode .. but as soon as you go to log in it switches to portrait mode .. which is ridiculous .. especially on a tablet like our iPads. The app use to work in landscape mode and had eDeposits, and the website use to have eDeposits. Why on God’s green earth would they remove the ability to make electronic deposits in the middle of a global pandemic is beyond me! I’m afraid I’m going to have to remove all my money and move it to a modern bank that’s more tech savvy after 30+ years as a member 😡
Merger. I had been with Schools for 40+ years and never had any problems with their banking service in person and online. I am very dissatisfied with how the merger was handled with the difficulties that so many of us encountered . I do not like your on line app, I am asked to verify my account often with a number sent to me via email , have to find a pencil and paper to write that number down and then put it in to verify it’s me! And, it doesn’t always work . What’s up with this verification ? I pay many of my bills on line, with Schools it would be paid within two days days( if not weekend) . With your online banking it takes 3-4 days turn around time. I am not a very satisfied camper ! Will give it awhile longer to see if you can get all the “bugs” out of your services . If not, like so many that I have talked to , will be looking for another banking service .
Needs Improvement Already. I’ve been with School’s First for over 15 years and seen each of the apps upgrades this migration to a whole new platform needs work. From someone like me who is in front of a computer 10 hours a day the visual color scheme is too bold and and bright, it needs more muted warm colors less white. And on top of that had issues with maneuvering from one account to another with freezing and timing out. Extended cycling times between tabs and buttons needs to be fixed. For a bank to migrate a whole online platform, I would have thought these issues would have been tested more thoroughly before launch. Not pleased, that I could not access my accounts today. Please review and fix issues ASAP.
SchoolsFirst FCU new app. I just started using the new app yesterday and so far the only problem I’m having is that every time I login, the REQUEST VERIFICATION / Authentication screen pops up and asks me to either verify through phone number or email.. EVERY TIME. Really, it’s like ok I understand you want to verify that this account really belongs to me but every time I login? It’s so annoying. I’ve verified countless amount of times and I can’t seem to find where to turn this pop up screen off in my account settings. Does anyone else have this problem? I really miss the old app and wish SchoolsFirst would have at least sent an email or given me a heads up that this new app was going to replace the old one smh. The old app worked much smoother for me. I don’t really like this new one when it comes to logging in.
It’s good, but…. The app has gotten better over the past year, however, there are still a few areas that could use improvement: 1. The amount of updates needed to use the app is pretty annoying. Every time I log in, it tells me I have to update the app. Might be nice to give the prompt to update, but let me update when it’s at my convenience, and not when I’m trying to log in to use the app (this has caused me issues multiple times) 2. Zelle is not easy to find. If you know where to look for it, it’s fine. But I had to Google search where to find it in the app 🤦♀️😅 It would be great if it was one of the tabs under the “pay & transfer” section, rather than a link within “move money”. 3. Scheduling Bill Pay is pretty cumbersome, having different tabs to perform different actions to set up the recurring bill pay. It would be great if everything was contained to one tab where all actions can be performed (adding new payee or selecting an existing in order to set up a payment, the. One tab for payees, that includes recurring scheduled payments)
it’s cool. There’s stuff that’s easier to do such as sending money with zelle and finding options to deposit checks though your phone, but this app is much slower in updating money spend/money deposited. Before, with the old app, my purchases and deposits were shown almost immediately no matter the time of day. With the new app, my purchase from 2 days ago haven’t shown in my accounts. Knowing as soon as possible would make tracking how much money is spent much easier before I spend more money than I thought I have lol. The features that are easier to find are very convenient though. Scrolling through the old page to find one of these features was annoying before, but now they’re easy to find and access.
The worst app ever. The new updated app is the worst ever. I have had to download it and delete it and try again 3 times. It doesn’t work more than half the time, and it’s not user error. It takes too long to log in. The layout is horrible. Change is good if it’s better but this is not. I have to click everywhere to find the balance on my loans. I have to click too many places to pay a bill. I have been a member for 27 years and this is the absolute worst system update. I need easy access to my money. Simplify and streamline in today’s world, not make it more complicated.
Does not use Face ID. The app does not use Face ID. Does not take my password I have to keep changing my password and rarely works. The app gets very slow and is not as intuitive the previous app. I was trying to use zelle to make a payment and the app kept timing out and refusing to let me make a payment said I had reached my limit when I never made a payment to begin with. I had to wait a few days and go back in and finally it went through. It’s not just the app but the new owners company does not seem as customer friendly. It feels more like a bank then a credit union. There’s more to say here but it will take to long. I’m hoping things will get better but right now the transition has been a nightmare. I might be moving my assets in the coming months but I’ll give it a little more time.
Search needs work. Most of this app is very user friendly & easy to access whatever info you are looking for. However, searching in the checking account for past transactions & deposits is not user friendly. For the most part, I’ve been unable to find what I’m looking for unless I manually go back through my account, the search tool does not work. I’ve tried using various methods & parameters but, at least so far, I’m rarely able to access what I’m trying to find. The original search worked easily & quickly, perhaps newer isn’t always better.
Very disappointed. I have been a member for years and I am very disappointed . I have had the regular old SchoolsFirst app for years there’s a few times were they have had problems with the app similar to today . This morning I tried logging in with it and it was not working because of my connection so I deleted it since I knew it was their problem not mine , it automatically downloaded this new version that won’t even let me log in. Every time something similar to this happens it is always when the bank is closed , can’t contact any member for help even every website for schools first is not working at all they are all down I wanted to try doing it online instead of on the app but no . I’m randomly left with no way to get my money today for who knows how long I have many groceries to get unfortunately it’s broken . This is one of the only problems I’ve had with this bank I really don’t want to end up changing banks
…can we have our old mobile app back please?. I delayed downloading the app, hoping the bugs would get worked out. I had enjoyed the website teases they sent via email - the site & app looked promising. But that’s where the excitement ended. How is this new mobile app of any improvement over the old? It is so clunky. Very un-user friendly. And it has substantially fewer transaction options than the old app. For instance, I paid my CC bill today and there was no option to enter a custom amount. Only the monthly minimum or the full amount. Come ON Schools First - This is child’s play. And you’ve digressed 20 years. I have been online banking for the past 15 years as I live in another state and I’ve been with schools first since it was OCTFCU credit union. What’s that tell you, in the fact their new app in 2021 is now making me want to consider a new FCU for the first time in my life…can we have our old mobile app back please?
Terrible Merger and Terrible App. This has been the worst merger I have ever dealt with in my life. I have been with Schools for 20 years and am sorely disappointed with all the problems and changes. First, there were loads of issues and miscommunication at the beginning of the merger. Had to wait in line for hours before we could get our answer. Actually a customer coming out of the building gave us the answer to our question about accounts and account numbers. This was never communicated to us by Schools First. Then the website didn’t work for days. Finally, when we did log on, the redesign of the website was terrible and our mortgage wasn’t even listed. The old website and bill pay was easy and straightforward, this is not. Later we received a letter that we didn’t have insurance (which we did) and if we didn’t respond they were going to buy some for us. Some time after that we receive a letter saying, “Oh nevermind, you really did have insurance and we aren’t going to make you pay for new insurance.” Ridiculous. Seriously considering moving all accounts and mortgage to my other hassle free credit union Safe CU.
Very unhappy with update. It is unfortunate to write this because clearly a lot of work went I to this new version. But no thought went I to retaining a very critical feature: the ability to automatically log in with fingerprint or facial security. You now have to enter in a password! The app works fine after that. ut such a core failure is like going to a steakhouse and being served a raw steak and being told it will be delicious once I finish cooking it myself. The old version had this ability so why write a new version missing this obvious and necessary ability? The credit union itself is excellent and I have been a member for almost 3 decades and recommend it. I wish I could say the same about this app.
SchoolFirst ROCKS!. I can’t say that enough and actually feel sorry the the people out there that don’t have SchoolFirst as their bank. It is the ONLY Financial institution that you can have an actual relationship with and that will take the time, will make an effort to find solutions that work. They are the Best out there and I mean the BEST. I have been a member for 20+ years and can honestly say you are missing out if not a member. I find the app super convenient and am pleasantly surprised how much I’m able to handle a variety of tasks. HI 5 to the Best Bank out there and all it’s members!! Honored to be part of something so dedicated to its customers. Thank You SchoolsFirst !!
New App is Awful. I’m a firm believer in “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and I really wish schools first would have embraced that philosophy in regards to this app. In my opinion the interface is worse than the previous one, and not user friendly. Additionally, it doesn’t save my password information, even though I set it to remember my password and use facial recognition. And most annoying, it won’t allow me to pay off my full credit card balance whenever I want…that’s unacceptable. I used the old app up until I was forced to change over, and I’m wishing it could still be used. Please redo this app to be like the previous one in looks and functionality. So disappointed in SchoolsFirst for signing off on this awful app that makes managing finances more difficult.
Why?. Why did SFCU destroy what was a stellar app with complete garbage? I guess it had something to do with the merger. I love my Credit Union, merger or not. My branch staff care about members and they are consummate professionals. But this app is a disaster. The previous app was top notch: easy on the eyes, easy to navigate, made app banking efficient. The new app is a clunky monstrosity. In multiple places words and dollar amounts get jammed together so as to be illegible. Navigation is difficult and the interface color palette screams hospital rubber room. I now use my phone to go to the online site which still has the same look and feel as the old app. Whoever was in charge of this design switch should be doing something else for the organization. ANYTHING but design.
Zero attention to accessibility for blind people!. This app has accessibility problems and the developers refuse to fix them! This app is somewhat accessible to blind people using voiceover on the iPhone. But when it comes down to doing important things, like transferring money between accounts, it is impossible to enter dollar amounts because the keypad does not come up when voiceover is enabled. I have called Schools First several times and attempted to convey this to them, their phone support doesn’t seem to understand, and blames it on my version of iOS or on my phone. I have been complaining about this for nearly a year, several updates have come out, and I have tryed them, but to no avail. There are a couple of other small issues including unlabeled buttons etc., but the keypad issue makes this app unusable for blind people on their own. I wish somebody would pay attention to those of us who can’t see the screen!
Slowly getting better. I’m not sure why the credit union stopped access from the old app when it was working flawlessly. You guys should he ironed out this “new” white background update prior to removing access from the “old” blue/grey background app. Just insane to have to go back to the website access instead of a convenient app… and apparently even the website has issues… Did the new bloated IT department need some busy work to do and just created an unnecessary project to justify new expenditures? What a shame. Update: It seems the problem lies somewhere on the server side as the issues with the app somewhat coincides with issues with the website. I can say though it is slowly getting better.
Terrible-total epic failure-did anyone test this thing 1st??. I make complaints in the apps messages all the time because this is the worst banking app ever created. Why the heck did they change??? So first of IT IS NOT ADA COMPLIANT!!! Anyone with vision problems cannot use this app!! Colors are awful for vision impaired. 2nd Where is the pending transactions??? 3rd where is the transaction details? 4th why is there so much junk listed -how to turn off all the junk? 5th Zelle is totally a mess and hard to find 6th making transfers is just cumbersome. I don’t mind change but this new “upgrade” is the worst DOWNGRADE ever! I don’t think anyone who has ever baked tested it out. Do they even care they have like a hundred bad reviews? I don’t think schools first gives one little bit that they screwed up and the app stinks. Complaints don’t matter any more, customers have to wait on hold for excessively long times, complaints don’t get resolved…just a normal crappy bank now 🤬🤬
Car loan application is horrible. This isn’t a 1 star app at all, but I just wanted to make a point. For years I’ve had a pre approval for a car loan in my face on the app and I finally want to buy a new car. So I clicked the link and went through the car loan application. It took me to the school first mobile website that didn’t function well and had very little information on it. I was approved for a loan but it gave me an amount and terms that were nowhere near what I wanted. I thought I might have missed something so I tried to go back and do it again with the terms I actually want. This time, I had to fill out a lot of information I didn’t have to fill out before. It was still jumbled and confusing. The site works like it was programmed in about 1999. I’m in the “submit” part of my application and it never even asked me what term I wanted. All of this for a pre-approval that is a full 1.4% worse than the dealer APR. Incredibly disappointing.
Credit score. A couple weeks ago I went online to get my credit score and found that the information is not available. I called the credit union and was assisted by your rep. She reached out to someone else and that person was unable to find the information. My iPad is up to date. I checked under “financial tools “ and credit score is not listed. I have always used your info ; recently I received a letter from CalStrs indicating that they offer a free 12 month membership to Experian Identity Works Credit 3B. Is it possible for you to find the reason I am unable to access my score through my online account? I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you
New version is a step backwards. I’ve been with SchoolsFirst for about 10 years now. The previous app version did everything it should have and did it well. The updated app is so disorienting and added steps into almost every process which makes it more confusing and harder to use. I’m all for quality of life improvements and a facelift every once in a while. But the whole thing has changed for the worse. I don’t want all of my accounts in one drop down tab. I want them separate because they are all for different things. Transferring money added an extra screen to put the dollar amount t instead of having it all on one page as it should be. A lot of questionable stuff. Not a fan
Why change what was working?. I’ve tried this new app several times and it always ends up moving to a portrait format rather than landscape format sometime during my banking. I work on an iPad that is on a stand and is a horizontal format and flipping to portrait in the middle of a transaction is so frustrating. I dread the day the old app is not available. BTW, I’ve done on-line banking for many hears and this is the most difficulty I’ve experienced. I can eventually get my transactions completed but it takes concentration.
Not like the old app. There are changes made to this app that are annoying. My husband and I have 2 separate SchoolsFirst accounts and transfer money each paycheck to allocate our bills. The transfer notes help us to place our transfers accordingly. The new app has lost that capability, and I have asked numerous times to see about this glitch with their IT and they claim it’s resolved, but even when we remove the app and then upload it again, it still doesn’t work. It also takes a while to generate transfers between members, which the old app was instantaneous, so that’s a bummer too. I have to log out and back in to see any updated transactions. So all that to say we are not happy and wish we never updated the app:/
Annoyed but very worth it.. What is wrong- 1. The heads up email was only a measly two days prior 2. My new address in the new app isn’t a “valid address” 3. Slightly annoying with the amount of text validations. Why is it worth it? 1. Boatloads of more features in my opinion 2. Perhaps it may be more secure with new and more modern programming 3. The developers are trying and actually listening to what people have to say. They are making changes What I would like to see 1. While the ability to mark a charge on your account as a certain subject(ie: car insurance) is already there, make it so you have the option to mark all future charges of that same charge automatically. (IE if I shop at the same grocery store, it will automatically categorize that charge each time as groceries). And then this way you can create an automatic expenditure report after only a few months of marking your various purchases.
This latest version is proving to be quite poor in my opinion,,,,. My phone app quit working for me and I was unable to update it so I deleted it and tried to upload the new version. It took me two fays and several attempts before it finally did. Now it will take me to places other than where I am trying to navigate to, and it doesn’t close automatically after a few minutes of inactivity or if you hit a link to a third party entity. Never had a CB oroblem with the previous version….
Great App. This new app is great compared to the old one. At first I didn’t like the because I couldn’t not find what I was looking for. One day I got a new phone and the old app is gone and I have this new app. So I take some time less than an hour for me I would say. I look around and going through everything and I find that this app has a lot more thing than the old app and it is very easy to use. I don’t know about the people that complain this new app is worst than the old one. Yes, at first time uses it seem to be but if you would take some time and learn what with in the app then you would not have a problem. I recommend people spend sometime learning it first before use to get to know the app better.
Why the F???. Ok, terrible App! Slow, you can’t label transfers to other accounts, the check deposit is lame and now that the horrible merger happened, you are only allowed to deposit $10K per day! Anything over that is subject to a hold!!! Seriously disappointed in both the merger and the App! No Face ID either!! I so miss my old Schools Federal Credit Union!! I’ve been a member since 1997, and the merger was a nightmare! They give us a booklet that nobody reads, and fail to inform us that our entire account number would be different and all our cards had like one day to activate before the old one stopped working...lines the first week or two were wrapped around the building . Plus, all our cards are MasterCard instead Instead of VISA! So very disappointed! 🙀
FIX Remember passcode!. I’ve seen the developer response to this in other reviews. You obviously don’t understand the request! The 3 stars are ONLY because I love Schoolsfirst and have been a member since OCTFCU. I have all my loans with them for years. I have an iPhone and the bio face recognition STILL does not understand the app is related to schoolsfirst. I always have to select schoolsfirst from my list of passcodes to auto populate. Every time this app upgrades, it’s for the worst. The simple early versions with better color for visibility and easy access were perfect. I almost want to stop doing business with Schoolsfirst because other banks make accessing their apps quick and painless. Please fix this!!
Not user friendly. Very difficult to use app. Awkward, especially if you use a tablet to pay your bills or do banking. I use my iPad. Too many steps to go through with no explanation. Have to turn the tablet horizontal then vertical and back to horizontal in the middle of transactions. Not clear how to delete a payee. I had to call the bank and they could not figure it out and they had to connect me with their tech services, who also took several times to figure it out. laborious when paying several bills since they no longer have the last 4 numbers of the account on the right side. You have to read all the numbers of the account and they do not show a column of payees. You have to go through each one. They lump all the transactions in one place, not separating the one time payments from the routine monthly pending payments. Have to look up the transaction to find out if it is a one time or routine monthly pending payment. The worst banking app I have ever used. My husband and 2 daughters dislike it also. The old app was easy to use and user friendly. Whoever came up with this one needs to go back to tech school.
Good app update. Happy that the apps been updated, being one who does 99% of my banking via the app, it’s a huge improvement! visually, looks great and seeing previous balances after each transaction very helpful. Love the new pending too, showing as ‘available’ and and with the overall balance on the same screen makes it very clear for those of us who are terrible at money management. Haven’t used many of the features outside of online deposits and transfers, but seems to be running excellent. The newest 5.x update seemed to fix an issue with the login ‘user’ field, which now responds to touch first time. Good job dev team!
I voted against the merger bc I knew this was coming. No merger in the history of the banking community has EVER gone smoothly, and Schools First eating Schools Financial was no exception. That being said, the breadth and width of their failure is still rather shocking to someone who was EXPECTING it to be a rough ride. From a poorly coded phone app, ridiculous wait times for bill pay (they insist on making you wait a minimum of a week, no matter what, despite the old system allowing 1-2 days), new fees and charges (naturally), and the obnoxious integration of Zelle into the app (which kills your old account , if you had one), and the criminally poor communication about all of their changes, it’s a disaster all around. I knew it was going to be bad, but yikes. The app is a joke, everything is worse, not better, and costs more. Shifting my primary banking to USAA. Gave the merger a chance, but it is getting worse, not better. Not closing my account yet, but not holding my breath that it will get better. The new owners are acting like a bank, not a community credit union. They’re jealous of those sweet sweet executive salaries they see on Wall Street, and it shows.
New app love the bank but don't love the app. I love the bank but don't love the app. I find the interface more difficult to use than the old app. The “remember me” doesn't work on my iPhone ( I have the newest iOS). If I use my iCloud passwords, it is a three tap process to refill the password. If I want to quickly check a balance - let's say in a store line, I have to retype my password or go through a three click entry. I can't get face id to work with the app. I paid a bill and the app closed when I went to submit. I couldn't find that the bill was paid when I went back in. It is a little hard to find zelle in the app. I found it but it wasn't intuitive. If you use the app to transfer money it would be nice to have the amount you are moving on the same screen as the two accounts. In this app you choose your from and to then hit “continue” before you can type the amount. In my chase bank app I can see the from, to, the amount, date, and memo options on the same transfer screen in the mobile app.
I HATE THIS APP! I WANT THE OLD ONE BACK!. There were a couple of things that I didn't like about the old app but this new one is no Bueno. The print is too large and in your face. I like seeing my finances all at once. It will also only let me make one transfer at a time and then I have to log out and log back in. Maybe do a survey first before launching this wonderful new change? It's not. The web version is the same but at least I can make more than one transfer. I also don't like the way the new version has this in your face "offers" advertisement, even when you have to click it away each time and it still says offers. I don't like how it doesn't give me the option to go to the web version like the old app had when logging in. Now I'm extra confused knowing what money I have with the set up having to scroll around. I hate that the credit will post two days later but not tell you. It won't let you choose the amount to pay off the credit card more than one time or if its more than the recommended. So the more transactions you make and pay you begin to lose track. Too bad it doesn't display it more clearly. ZELLE is missing and they're saying is a profile issue. Uhhhh Ohhh kayyyy! Thanks for nothing.
Nervous but hopeful. I have been with SchoolsFirst for 20+ years, back when it was OCTFCU. I love love love this credit union! I’m nervous about the terrible reviews for the new app, which is partly why I delayed downloading the it until today, the deadline after which the old app will no longer work. I’m hopeful that I won’t experience some of the bad issues that seem to plague other users, but am a bit nervous as I use the app on a near daily basis. The ONE thing I REALLY wish would be made an option immediately is the ability to work with Apple’s Dark Mode. Personally, I hate the all white bright screen. The old app has less white, more contrast, the new app has zero contrast. Supposedly it is more accessible for users with poor vision, but I honestly don’t see how that is possible, as the font colors are medium to light blue and gold/beige... those aren’t high contrast colors! The other acceptable option would give users the ability to customize the colors to their choosing (which I realize might be a difficult if not impossible option). Mainly I just hate the all white look, it honestly hurts my eyes as it is just too bright. Anyway I hope that changes soon.
It's different but works just fine!. Too many negative reviews about this application. I use the mobile banking app to check my balances and my activity nothing more nothing less my mobile application is not my only means of checking my bank account. The icons are big and bold and easy to read everything‘s at the touch of my fingers. Everything that you might have to call and speak to call center rep for can be done on the application, lost debit card lost credit cards temporary freeze on you debit card. What else do you need? It works, get over it , stop complaining about every little thing.
Poor Design. SchoolsFirst made a lot of mistakes rolling out their new laptop and mobile banking apps. I offered many suggestions, wrote three emails, and the canned response I got was, “it takes a while to get used to change.” Really? The old apps were intuitive. The new apps not so much. 🤬 The vertical space allocated to each share type is ridiculously large on both apps and forces you to scroll down to eternity. There are many other mistakes as well, but I understand that the changes to apps were required because of their banking merger. It’s such a shame though that they didn’t take users input into consideration. Lastly, the rollout was a joke! I was forced to migrate to the new laptop app over half a YEAR before my husband and son! Timing was awful, communication was very poor. I love this credit union but HATE the apps.
Love the bank, hate the new app. I don’t think the new app is an improvement at all. I hate the stark white background. It’s really harsh on the eyes and just isn’t visually appealing. Also there’s very little color difference between the accounts which for me makes it difficult to see at a glance what you’re looking at. I also hate the new search tool. In the old app you could just drag it down, start typing, and the results would start appearing. In the new app it’s a completely separate search field, you have to type it in, press done, then press search. Then when you do a new search the field doesn’t automatically clear, you have to back it out and do all the steps over again. It’s really annoying and extra work. I don’t like the new transfer/pay section either. The account selection works ok but then it takes you to a new screen to plug in the transfer amount and then. ANOTHER screen to complete. Why??? If you’re going to change it why not just have it all on one screen? Again, it’s more steps. The old app may have needed a little face lift but the functionality was way better in my opinion.
CHANGE IT BACK TO THE OLD APP FORMAT. Honestly, for being a banking service, this app design is terrible. Literally rate it a 0/10. Not only is the visual layout terrible, but this format is beyond inefficient. I work in technology banking and I can tell you one thing… Either SchoolsFirst cut corners and didn’t spend any money on the app (because they disregard client service), or they got scammed by whomever designed, reviewed, and approved this. This new app is unappealing. If they were going for simple, clean, and easy to use, THEY DID NOT HIT THE MARK. It’s so frustrating that they got rid of the old app that was so much better and forced us to switch to this one. I cannot stress how terrible this app’s format is designed. Please fire the app designer and approving manager because this project turned out horrific and I have no idea how it ever got rolled out to the public. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMAT!

Pretty good but clunky. Should have done some basic usability evaluations on this app as it is not easy or intuitive to use. I could get used to it but why should I have to. For instance, to put user name and password in, it should take a tap of your finger anywhere in the box as labelled; however, one has to tap it in exactly the right place at the beginning if the box just under the title. It often takes several taps even though I know I have to be precise. Poor! And there are many more such “picky” examples. Does the job, but minimally acceptable.
Not user friendly. Transferring was Bank of America and highly disappointed at this app. It is very difficult to use. Also, my husband and I have a joint account and my name does not show up on the account name, only his does. This is super frustrating. We both have to have to use same log in where at BofA we had separate logins for the same account. I truly hope this fix all of these issues. It’s not going to be easy using this app.
Consistent “Friendly” 10-Star. I’ve been a member 35 years as well as my parents for about 50 years through the fountain Valley in Huntington Beach branches, and every time I would take my mom in as she got older to do her banking, they would the teller would complement her nail polish or her rings as she was a costume, jewelry, aficionado, and say her earrings, match or a nice flowery talk you know the older 75-year-old lady year old girl, and then 85 and then 88-year-old until she passed and I’ll never forget how nice you guys were to my mom as well as myself every time I go in and I was just on Saturday and again I am like VIP and I didn’t even know the girl that helped me at the teller line. Alll have been and continue to be Awesome. You can definitely tell the difference of a private credit union versus the public B of a or chaser so on and so forth FOR SURE!! Thnx all!!
Update. Hello I use several different bank apps and this one is just a bit too simple of a lay out like a small community bank. I think an overhaul of the whole app is needed to provide more financial tools and insights as to income and spending. I know this is offered but it’s wierd transfers are added to income or withdrawal totals when it’s still in the bank. Maybe seeing other banks platforms will greatly show how the app seems outdated . Love the bank the app is very simple . That’s all
It’s okay but could be better. This new app definitely requires getting used to compared to the old version. The two reasons this app didn’t get 5 stars: 1. For purchases pending, they show up on top so it’s not in a separate window like before so that was weird, but also made looking at finances difficult as you have to keep scrolling to see what has been posted already. 2. Now you have the option of categorizing your purchases with more ease. However, I hate that you can’t customize what category the purchases fall under and all you can choose is the set subcategories the app offers. If they were to add the possibility of adding custom categories and made it just as easy as it already is to make the set ones, this would’ve had a 5 star rating. Overall, it’s decent but adding the option to customize categories and making finding zelle easier would give this a 5 star.
Feels like a big step backwards. Feels like a big step from the old Schools app. The old app when I deposited a check it would show up immediately in the checking account but now it just vanishes and I’m left wondering if they got my check or not? An email confirmation would be nice but I will have to call the branch to see if they even got it. The app logs you out quite often if you’re not on it for a short amount of time, I appreciate the security concern but it’s annoying when you’re trying to multi task. This is a small gripe but the aesthetic looks cheap and ugly. I hope you all can do better in the future and bring back that old schools feeling we as members knew and loved.
And large type is an improvement ?. You know this could have been done with just an update. It’s a bit unwieldy but basically the same. So… what exactly was broke? The major difference is unless you have the privacy screen protector and someone is at a angle to you - the text size is almost a bullhorn. Guess keeping your balances, account numbers easy to conceal wasn’t so important as creating a whole new design that essentially isn’t all that different from the previous one. Some things rearranged Which didn’t need to be. It was pretty simple already. So a redesign to what make zelle access happen? Seriously? Wow guys. Just wow
Just fine!. The new app is working just fine for me! I have been a SchoolsFirst/ OCTFCU member for quite a while, and we have enjoyed their many services for years! We have bought cars, using the easy loan process, and even refinanced our home loan (and paid it off!) through SFCU! I do all of my banking and I find the app very easy to use! The staff are always friendly and personable and quite helpful! I give the app and the credit union a 5 star rating! Thank you! 😉💕
Pretty good app. There’s only a couple of hiccups for the app. For example, you cannot add companies to bill pay on the phone. So that’s annoying, but once it’s add on the computer everything works fine. Also, some of the information in the payment column is overlapped so it makes the payee info hard to read. The electronic statement alert popped up for almost a week even though I hit agree. There’s room for improvement, but compared to the old Schools app prior to the merger this is a step up.
I MISS MY OLD BANK SCHOOLS FINANCIAL CREDIT UNION!!!. This is got to be the worst bank I’ve ever been with in my entire life ever since they got bought out by a big Los Angeles greedy bank the bank service has been nothing but downhill. This app has got to be the worst app ever created it’s BUGGY it’s laggy it does not even have push notifications like the Wells Fargo app does. Nor does it even have dark mode so at night time you’re blinded with a white bright light. I cannot stand this bank the app is crap and plus they’re doing nothing to fix it all they wanna do is keep taking our money jacking up the fees and giving us a subpar product shame on you guys I hope you’re reading this right now shame on you!!!!
No Face ID/ Won’t Remember My Info. I love SchoolsFirst, I’ve been a member for 9 years now. The old app wasn’t great but it did what I needed it to do. The Face ID was so helpful because I could check my account quickly without having to input my password everytime. The new app is much better because it has a lot more options, I like how many things it tells you and it is easy to use. However the FaceID doesn’t work and it will not remember my info even though I’ve asked it to multiple times. It would be really helpful if this was fixed! Then the app would be worthy of 5 stars
Not in love with this app. I’m not sure why SFFCU changed their app. The other one was working fine and I thought it was more user friendly. I have trouble paying my SFFCU credit card and mortgage now. I also have trouble finding information about my accounts like the minimum payments and interest rates. When I try to get to the screen to make a payment or look up more information it keeps wanting to toggle between accounts. It would also be helpful to know what my remaining statement balance is after I’ve made payment(s). I hope they update this app soon and make it more user friendly.
Not Sure Why People Hate It. I’m not here to discount the experiences of others but I just logged into the app today and it was a very smooth encounter. I was a little surprised that they pushed out a new app instead of updating the old one, but I think it’s easier to navigate and I had no issues with logging in, transferring money, or making payments. Yes, there was some 2FA, but honestly that’s a good thing. Not here to comment on the merger, but the new website and new app seem like steps in the right direction.
I’m getting used to it. I find the new app much more sensitive to finger placement. At first I couldn’t log on half the time because the spot you have to tap in order for and iPad to recognize a text field is SO SMALL that I was missing it. I’ve had some other learning curve issues but in general the app does all I need it to do. I did call and report a “technical difficulty” that turned out to be an “improvement.” The new app can not handle it if you type in the decimal point when specifying an amount to transfer. And instead of accepting or rejecting the key stroke it totally messes up the number and leaves it unrecoverable.
Glitchy - miss the old app. Was reluctant to switch to the new app because of all the reviews. Well the old app no was supported and I was forced to get the new one. Regret. As stated by other reviews; glitchy and difficult to log into (won’t connect). It’s an app issue not my phone or internet. Even their old app was a little glitchy and the photo deposit would drop connection. I have several other bank apps and none lag and glitch like this one. However, I still love SCHOOLSFIRST way more than any of my others banks; I just wish they could get it together with this app. (I also wish they offered business accounts - sigh). Hopefully SF can get this resolved soon.
Mobile banking. Not the best for mobile banking, especially if you have multiple/shared account. It will not show you all of your information. For example, if you have a shared and an individual account it will show you all of your accounts but not all your loans. If your main account has no loans or anything you will see nothing other than your checking and savings but if on your joint account you have a loan of any kind it will not show you the amount left or when payment it due. Actually kind of retarded tbh as you cannot pay towards principle because you cannot make additional payments and it forces you into autopay. I figured maybe it wouldn’t show in the app but it would show if I went online. Nope it doesn’t show you at all what is owed ever and just takes out of the account you selected when you got your loan. Oh and hopefully you don’t want to change the account you want to make payments from, because you couldn’t even if you wanted. Get your personal loans, auto loans and mortgages elsewhere if you plan on having multiple accounts.
Easy to use. I like it. My wife told me she hated it, that it was so frustrating and not user friendly, but I found it otherwise. I told her my experience has been quite different than hers with this new app. It has everything the old one did and more. The interface and look, the tabs and links and everything are not all where they use for be; that’s all. Everything is still here and so easy to use and navigate. I suggest, give it a try.
Ken Losacco member 20+ years.. Our Credit Union, unlike banks and saving & loan companies, has always been personal and very helpful in all situations, should an insistent occur, ie: third party fraud, etc., SchoolsFirstFCU has been there, on the dime to handle any problems with immediate remedies for their members, from my experience. I thank our security center and all the staff at SchoolsFirst for expediting an amazing positive service for all their members as they have done for me personally in the last 20+ years I have been a member of. Many thanks. Best Regards: Ken Losacco
Not working well. I’m sure it will get better with time but as of now, I keep getting automatically logged out of the app with a notice that reads “we noticed that you were not using the application for a bit so we logged you out to protect your security”; however, this keeps happen while I’m actively using the app. For example, I log in and immediately try to go to one of my accounts and instead, it logs me out. Also, I’m not finding a way to access easy balance view. Perhaps this has been discontinued. There are things I like about the app, such as access to more information that was previously only readily available on the website.
When are we going to see improvements?. Please bring back what the old app had that made life easier: 1.ability to search for a Payee instead of having to scroll through the whole list, in Bill Pay, the Payee list, and Scheduled 2. In scheduled payments, it would be so much better to have the earliest payments on top instead of way at the bottom, the way it used to be 3.In Bill Pay please make this list alphabetical a-z instead of hit and miss, thatJust makes things more time-consuming I still don’t understand what the developers have been up to with this app, it is non-functional in a lot of ways and extremely frustrating to use
Falls Short. First, I want to say that I realize that things must change or evolve to keep up with what is supposedly the “latest and greatest”. This new app falls surprisingly short. We have been with this credit union for nearly 40 years and this is the first time we are disappointed. The app is not easy to navigate, all transactions are in black so you cannot quickly see the debits and credits, it changes screen orientation in the middle of the bill pay process. I still have the old app loaded on my phone and it will stay that way. It will be inconvenient to use my phone for bill pay and such, but no more frustrating than using the new app on my iPad Pro.
Slowly Improving. Since the launch of the new app there’s been many issues and some features missing. Slowly there has been improvement to the overall app in regards to stability and adding features. There is no way to access rewards points link through the app currently and the budget and insights section does not work with credit cards, which defeats the purpose. Need to add ability to go to points/rewards site and add budget and insights compatibility for credit cards. Faster update and release schedule for the app would be beneficial as well.
Fix Log In. Overall I suppose the changes are fine. Exception is logging in. Please you need to fix the log in. FaceId isn’t available? And the remember me function only remembers the user name, not password. I have to open my password manager and select my user name and password from what was saved for the older version. Clunky. Update: Thanks for the response. Followed the instructions and found the hidden biometric switch. However, I can only have 1 account using the Face ID? When I activate it on my kids accounts, it disables it on my account. Still an issue in my mind. Still clunky. But keep working at it.
Review. This merger has been a total nightmare for me. I have been with this credit union since 1966 and have always been able to quickly settle any problems. Not now, I have been to the office four times and still am having problems. They say I can no longer have a Christmas Club account, I am having trouble setting up transfers from my credit card to bills I used to be able to pay with the card. I have had my new debit card denied twice at the grocery store in spite of having over $1000 in my checking account. Then I have to drive back to the Folsom Blvd. office from Rancho to have them correct the card. My daughter took a day off work to try to help me but new problems keep cropping up.
Not iOS 16 Updated. The app does what it’s supposed to do but since Apple releases the iOS 16 update, the Face ID login stopped working. I’m sure there’s nothing an update could fix but it’s getting frustrated having to type in your credentials every time you log in. Mind you, I always click “Remember Me” but it doesn’t remember anything—I’d have to type everything in every time. Also, I’d enable on Face ID log in but when it’s time to confirm if I want it enable, the “Yes” button doesn’t work. It doesn’t take you anywhere so the only option is to tap “No Thanks” and you’d have to re-enter everything next time you log in. Fix this!
Can we have the add/subtract feature on the credit card/Mastercard section?. -Zelle seems to malfunction after 12 am. -Depositing checks through the phone/app never seems to work. -As for the add/subtraction feature that we have in checking, savings, over draft protection, and loans…is it too much to ask to also include it in the CREDIT CARD section? -Lastly, payments to the credit card do not appear as they did before, right away. Now they take longer to appear, 2-3 days later. They are not even posted as “pending” in the credit card/Mastercard section
Great App!!. This app is very user friendly, makes it easy accessing your finances on the go, and enables you to navigate throughout it’s vivid display in a cinch! Whenever I need a close by ATM or branch, all I do is open my app, and transferring money is just as simple. When it came time to fund my loan, I was able to complete most of the process over my phone which helps those who may not have access to a laptop. Hurry and download it today, you won’t regret it! 😊👍
Struggles with Mobile deposit, no Face ID. It is functional but irritating. Until recently, when I made a deposit I would attempt it 3-5 times before it would work. To their credit I emailed them, and they provided some help (rotate the check 180 degrees when it does that). The app never remembers me even if I click “Remember me,” prompting me to enter my password each time. And it never uses Face ID even though it asks for permission each time I log in. Their customer service is responsive, but the app itself is struggling with some key features. I like the design in general, just wish it was smoother to use. Hope this was helpful.
Works great!. The app works great, just like a banking app should. It’s got facial recognition unlock, access to all my accounts, remote deposits, transfers etc. You can rename accounts, and see your main accounts ordered the way you want right on the main screen. Readability is pretty good and I’ve never had had an issue with functionality, so what’s not to like? I’ve been a member now for 30 years and mobile banking at the credit union just keeps getting better and better.
Face ID. The app has been really buggy for me, for a few days it wasn’t letting me log in and then when it did it would hive me the option to have face ID on (I already had it on beforehand so this was weird to ask me again) so I put yes and then it would stay on that screen with the question, then it would only let me log in if I put no thank you. The annoying part is this was happening every-time I’d log in. Now it doesn’t ask and gives me the option to Face ID but then it won’t let me log in, so now I just put in password.
Excellent Service. The one thing I know is that I can be confident with my funds at Schools First federal credit union. They are amazing as far as taking care of accounts, they are so courteous, expeditious, thorough, and answer with all the information I need when they receive messages. I have not received this level of service at any other bank or credit union and I am 71 years old. I don’t have words to pay them a higher compliment. They are the best.
New To This Bank. This is a very good bank and they have a lot of feature services but they lack locations. That’s where they need to come up. They stated that they only have two locations, one in Torrance and the other one in Gardena. There are teachers all over California and so for every other city should have a branch location or some grocery store location. It would be helpful to have some ATM locations as well. Not everyone wants to travel to Torrance or Gardena if you live and teach far out.
Review of the app, not the merger. The app has some cool features that I like, but it is buggy. Even though my husband and I have selected for the app to “remember me” and to use facial recognition to open the app, that is not working. We must put in our password each time, to sign into the app. Furthermore, when opening the app, you can’t even type your password in right away. It loads and then sits there for a while with the login button grayed out. If you try to tap in the password box, it doesn’t recognize that you have clicked/tapped in it. It takes about a full minute before allowing you to type in your password and log in.
NEGATIVE STARS! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼. Terrible app! If I could give this NEGATIVE stars I would. The old app was so much better and easier to use even with all the updates they had. Very clear and had no issues easy to access different functions with online banking. This new app is the worst! Won’t remember the login, can’t change or save the biometrics/fingerprint/Face ID to gain access, can’t deposit a check since it won’t read it properly while on the old app, the same check went through. What a terrible “upgrade” - please bring back the old app. Clearly your members are NOT happy with this JOKE of an app. Listen to what your members are saying - we don’t want this poor excuse of an app.
Now I understand. I didn’t understand why there were so many complaints about the app... it looked the same to me. Finally figured out that it was a new download & I was still using the old app. It seems like everyone is going for a “cleaner” look these days. This new clean interface is not as easy on the eyes as the old one. It also appears to be missing many of the options that the old app had. For example, on the old app, I could select which accounts I wanted to view. Not only does this function appear to be missing on the new app, my kids’ Junior accounts are also missing from my screen. THIS ISSUE IS A HUGE STEP BACKWARDS!!! It was so easy to manage funds and make deposits into their accounts. I am the adult signer, so these accounts should be visible on my login and accessible to me without having to go to a new login for them. I do like the new sum total of all the accounts at the top of the page. I did find some functions, like reviewing deposits, but it’s not as intuitive as before.
Credit card suggestion. I would like to suggest that the credit card include the balance on every transaction so we know exactly where we stand. My other banks do this every time and it helps a lot. With schools first, I pay off my bill, but still have an outstanding charge, which then doesn’t tell me actually what the balance is. I have suggested this many times with an employee at the bank, but I’ve never received a comment back.
Horrible app. I’ve been with this bank for over 20 years and sadly, their technology is far behind the competition. Their old app was ok at best, but seemed to work more often than this one. I was forced to download and use this new app and it is by far one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. This app won’t load beyond the welcome screen and sometimes won’t even login without problems. I’ve recently had to go to another bank for commercial purposes (this bank didn’t offer that), and have noticed other apps work much better and have more functions. Sadly, I may have to change banks even though I love working with this bank. Clearly this bank doesn’t value technology, and that seems to be a driving force in today’s world.
App locks up. App locks up when applying for a loan and you need to add accounts for assets. Phone number into Loan team did not work correctly. I was disconnected. Prompts were wrong. I wanted help not applying for a different loan that dead ends with no access to customer service. Beware. I applied online and my credit was pulled and I received an unwarranted text from a random loan broker to apply for a different loan through him and not Schools First which doesn’t earn trust that SF knows where my data is going. I advised Schools First Customer Service yet nobody has called me back. I feel like my data was sold without my permission. I still don’t have a quote or a real person to help me after being told I would get a call back. I expected more from SF…
Fake Reviews from Devs. Worst banking app I have ever had the pleasure to use, the developers really shot themselves in the foot with this one. Secondary auth every time and terrible cookie management bordering on spyware. What's even funnier is all these fake reviews from Devs trying to save their skins. "Aesthetics are easy on the eye and 2FA is efficient" sure guys, that sounds like a consumer review. Just shameful, and an old trick in the industry that does nothing but display your inefficiency and signal the downfall of your IT prowess. If you got any sort of functionality right with the website or the app, people would get used to the fonts. I am already in the process of redirecting deposits to another bank account. Your app and website both feel extremely risky to me.
New app, not the best experience. I miss the previous version of this app. Very simplified and to the point. This new app has come with a lot of bugs, delays in logging in and now it’s saying “no server connection”” contact service provider”. But everything else is connecting fine. Unable to see my balance at a glance is frustrating. I have to be old school and actually log on to the website via safari, only to redirect me to the app. Idk. Mixed feelings. I Love my bank since day one. But this app is disappointing. Looking forward to pay my bills without over drafting. Looking forward for a better update…..
Downgrade. UPDATE: This app has actually led me to switch to another bank. YUP. It’s that bad. As a response to this review, SchoolsFirst keeps sending me links on how to use the app. I know how to use this app. Using the app is not the issue. It’s simply just terrible and annoying. Prior to this “update”, SchoolsFirst was my primary bank. The update itself has led me to switch to another bank. No regrets. This version of the app is definitely a downgrade from the previous version. The older version was a lot easier to navigate and was easier to use. This version is too confusing for a banking app. I’m going back to the older version even if the “newer version of the app available” notification does not disappear.
Lame categories. I love schools first, but they got rid of the customizable categories in the app and the website years ago and it has been lame. Now I have to categorize things in categories that don’t make sense. For example in the “transfer” category, instead of “transfer to savings” or “transfer to spouse” it only gives transfer for “cash spending” or “credit cards”. “Credit cards” should be under “Bills.” And “Cash Spending “, has nothing to do with transferring. They should have never gotten rid of the customizable categories.
Yeaaa… no. Most things seem fine in this app, but the biggest issue i’m having is in the transfer tab. I have 6 different accounts because my husband and i are joint we have both a personal savings/checking and a joint one, but when we want to transfer money from one account to another we cant. We have the option to send money out of 3 of our accounts only which oddly enough is only our joint savings & his savings/checking. I don’t seem to get the option to send money out from my own savings/checking accounts or our joing checking… it’s so weird esp since sometimes i move money from my checking to my savings or my money to external accounts like family.
What in the????. This new version is THE worst financial app I have ever used! At first glance it’s fresh and sleek. The home page shows all accounts and balances. However, loans are listed with combined total owed then monthly payment for each. When you click for the detail of the loan, only transactions are displayed, no balance. There is no option to see any detail of the loan. What is the point of the app if one cannot see all the required data? This app needs to be disabled until the issues are resolved. I will continue to use the old version.
Check Deposit is broken now. Been using the app for years and it’s been great until recently. The “updated” e-deposit is a step back and broken. The auto picture feature never allows me to deposit. I have to go back and take manual pictures of the check sides. Every. Time. It also used to be very good at sensing the check and snapping the picture. Now it almost always has to be manually done. I have no idea who signed off on the latest “updates” but that person needs to be written up for incompetence and possibly rethink the development team if this is the best they got.
New user interface. The truth is that in general we become used to habitual processes. I did get used to the previous app and have become use to the new interface for this one. I like the aesthetics and have learned to accept that change is necessary for progression. Transactions are relatively easy to accomplish and the enlarged fonts are a welcome addition. As of right now I don’t have real complaints that merit a deduction of stars (if getting used to the changes can be considered a complaint).
What a failure. This new app is horrible, super glitchy, and I can’t believe the developers have the gall to include buttons and settings that don’t even actually work and are “coming soon”. The account drop down in the “move money” tab is incredibly annoying to use if you’ve got more than 2 or 3 accounts. Instead of listing the accounts using one or two lines max, someone thought it would be a good idea to include the full account display, causing a huge amount of visual clutter. The wheel didn’t need to be reinvented. The old schoolsfirst app worked great, maybe it looked a little outdated, but it was actually functional and I hate that the latest update to the old app keeps on bothering me to download this app, bc as evident from the 1.8 star rating, this new app is GARBAGE.
This app and merger is hurting older people. This app is so low end and bare bones compared to the old Schools app. The worst part is what this new merger has done to poor older people! My mother used the old Schools app to take pictures of checks and deposit them via the app so she didn’t have to go in to the bank. No more than ever she should stay in and not go to crowded places. However, she can’t download this new app because it requires the latest iOS software. Her iPad is 4th generation and is not allowed to upgrade to the the latest iOS software, so the bottom line is that she can’t download the School’s First app AT ALL. She now has to expose herself to covid-19 to go in to their overly crowded bank for all her banking. Thanks Schools, if she gets sick, it’s on you.
The old app was better. I found the old as pp easier to navigate also I was able to use facial I’d. On this one I can’t use the facial recognition which is annoying for me because my wife downloaded the s as pp and it gave her the option to use it. So there in itself is an issue. I looked all over in the settings to change that but no luck, I even uninstalled and reinstalled to try and correct it but I had the same result. I also like the layout of the old app versus this new one.
This new app is excellent!. When you download this app you need to take your time to look through it and learn how to use it. You can do a lot more things on this one than the old one. You can see your statement forms without having to go on the website, cashflow, spending and incoming analysis. You can cancel or replace a card, you can even activate your new card on this app. People need to stop complaining and get to know the app better.
