Not seeing what’s so terrible…. I switched to 1Password after using Apple’s built in Keychain password manager for a little while and being left wanting more. Heard great things about it. Come to the App Store to see everyone bombarding the app with 1- and 2-star reviews, so I went in feeling uneasy. This is so much better than Keychain on so many levels. I especially love being able to search through my accounts on my MacBook similarly to how you would use Spotlight. I have NO idea why Apple didn’t think to do that themselves. I’m also a fan of being able to have my most commonly used accounts saved directly on my Apple Watch. Super convenient. Haven’t ran into any glitches or issues. So I’m loving everything so far! It’s most definitely worth getting the annual subscription. $35 feels like a steal.

Private Vaultd. I chose 1Password several years ago because of stand-alone vaults. I have passwords that I never want available on the Internet. You’ve chosen to remove that feature even though you once advertised it as important. You have arrogantly decided that you are smarter than I am, that your security architecture protects my data on your servers and that’s all that matters. You have covered yourself. If my passwords get exposed, it’s my fault. The passwords in my private vault are on a computer inside a secure facility only accessible on a fire-walled network. The computer is off a great deal of the time. It’s not impossible to get them but nearly so. If I lose my phone, no problem. If I lose my phone with my important passwords stored on your computer they are not nearly as safe. Your seamless integration of private vaults with a vault on your server was an unbeatable combination. Less important passwords available everywhere, all of them available on my private network. Now I can’t think of any reason to continue to pay for your app.

Mediocre, lots of bugs/pain in common flows. Having more than one account attached frequently results in one being locked while another is not, resulting in annoying flows having to switch over to 1Password tapping a bunch of times to unlock other accounts. 2FA keys don’t work on iOS at all, and if one account has a 2FA requirement sync is locked out for all accounts. Someone crossed the streams. There’s almost never a functional autocomplete for TOTP on iOS, which as with the above things requires an absurd number of taps to work around as a user. No passkey support. re. Developer response: the docs on multiple accounts do not address the aforementioned UX issue, shoving doc links in response to this is making disingenuous implications. Don’t try to mislead, that’s dishonest.

A good product gone bad. I have used 1Password for years and have been happy with until version 8. It loads way too slowly, constantly asks for reauthentication, no longer supports Touch ID in the web browser, does not play nicely with FireFox, can't get Safari to connect to the so called helper, even after going through the troubleshooting steps, and so on. I fail to understand how what used to be a good stable product has gone so bad. Have worked with support, but have run out of time to keep trying things that do not solve the issue. They also can't seem to understand that I only use Safari as a last resort, which might be once a month, worst case. Currently am trying to figure out a way to export my Secure Notes, Bank Accounts, and Credit Card info into a .csv format. They see to hold those data hostage.

Long time user but disappointed. I am out on a long camping trip in Colorado and Utah. I have been using 1Password to help me login to state websites and make reservations at RV parks. I was exploring some this morning and needed 1password to get some information. Unfortunately I could not login. I could not get around any of the crap that they have built into the login. Their support is worthless when it comes to this type of problem. Only crappy companies do not publish a telephone number. I ended up calling their sales department and talked with someone. I did finally send them an email, but who knows when they will respond. I’ve been using the password 1password since the program first came out many years ago. I have generally been pleased with it, and have stored many things on it. This last version has been bad.

User since 1Password 3. I’ve been a big fan of 1Password since 1Password 3 on Mac—and I appreciate the work that went into sync optimization for version 8 (even though I don’t like the shift away from iCloud storage to using 1Password’s cloud services exclusively). That said, I’m not a fan of the redesign layout in 1Password 8, as I’ve lost the ability to rearrange the order of entries within sections, and now must be done on PC or Mac. In addition, fewer tags fit on screen, so it takes longer to scroll and find what you’re looking for. Lastly, there appear to be a few glitches in the UI. For one, I try to permanently delete something from the archive, but it keeps trying to delete a different item instead. Another glitch is that when going to a login, it’ll open the previous login you edited instead of the current one [Update: Issue fixed as of July 2023].

Does Not Work on iOS17. If you want to repeatedly have to delete the app, because you are prompted to input your 1Password credentials, which aren’t accepted, and give you an infinite loop of password requests, then you’re in luck. Either skip 1Password, or skip iOS17. I’m sure it will be fixed, but I’ve already updated 1Password at least once if not twice since the iOS17 update. For something that is critical to your daily use of your mobile device/life, this is not an acceptable situation. They should have had this resolved long before iOS17 was released. EDIT: Still an issue. Although the issue stopped occurring on a daily basis, it is still happening. This time it seems likely a bug that occurred when I was prompted to fill credentials in Safari but 1Password required the password (which I have set for every 2 weeks). Infinite loop. Force delete and reinstall is the only solution. Horrible bug. Recommend using iOS17 built in password management if you are fully Apple ecosystem.

Great password manager and customer service. This is an excellent password manager. I’ve pretty much used all the major / popular ones and this one honestly makes me feel the most secure and actually seems to work best across devices. An example of that is when you update your password on one device it instantly is updated on all of them. I know that sounds basic but lastpass, Microsoft and apple password managers always seem to have a problem actually doing this which leads to a lot of frustration. It’s also just the best if you use lots of browsers and different types of devices since obviously apple and MS don’t exactly play well together. I had issues with Face ID not working previously as I’m sure many others experienced. 1Password customer service did everything they could to ensure i was a happy. They listened to and acknowledged the issue helped me with a workaround while they worked on an update for their app. They followed up afterwards on multiple occasions. really just took care of me at every level I’m impressed by their customer service and technical support. I highly recommend this app and company.

Poor customer service. I’ve use this app for numerous years and was overall happy with the way it worked. The problem I have is the lack of customer support. I have always auto paid through Apple. This time around my auto pay went through as expected but one password froze my account. They took their sweet time in responding to me. Took them about four days to unfreeze my account. In the meantime, I was not able to utilize the account. Rather inconvenient when you depend upon the app. I canceled my account and requested a refund. They have refused to refund my money. The good news is they are no longer the number one password account service. I have since switched and I’m really happy with my new service.

Excellent update!. I have used 1Password for over 15 years, from back in the day long before subscriptions were in place. It has always been a great, secure, encrypted, password manager. I held off upgrading to version 8 because of reports with Face ID and such not working. When I learned that this version I’ve been released and what one password was saying about it in the corresponding feature list, I felt it was time to make the update. Some reviews are less than positive, which brought me concern, and I held off for a day. I’m not sure why others are having such difficulties. For me, the Face ID is working perfectly, the new search field employment works perfectly, and most excitedly, with the integration of 1Password and Safari on my phone, I have a seamless experience of entering passwords into websites on the mobile device. I simply haven’t found anything not to like in this most recent addition. It’s a solid updates that is working well, adding value to the ease of using a password manager, and maintaining the quality that I have come to expect from 1Password. Great job, 1Password team!

The best password manager I’ve ever used.. It seems that this review may go against the grain of recent reviews after 1Password 8 release however I love 1Password 8 and the new UI . I’ve used a couple password managers before from chrome, to keychain and Last-pass and 1Password is by far the best one. I haven’t experienced too many issues and none have been anything more than a minor inconvenience. By far my favorite features are the ability to have separate work and personal accounts logged in at the same time, and the extension being able to scan and save 2FA QR codes on webpages is a huge time saver.

New Version has me looking elsewhere. Whoever came up with the idea of locking you out of your account without warning until you re enter a master password is a total and complete idiot who sits at desk and doesn’t work remote. Being able to access over 100 passwords securely, at any time, is the only reason WHY I have this app. So now I’m away from home, where I have my master password securely locked up, and I can’t get to anything I need to WORK. I read that the reason for this asinine app update is so that I don’t forget my master password. I have this app so I can secure my passwords and ACCESS THEM WHEN I NEED TO. I keep my master locked up in case I lose a phone. I did not install your app because I need some woke idiot to be my mother. You should at least let me OPT OUT of this inconvenience.

Excellent Security, Frustrating App. I’m very pleased with the features and services that 1Password provides. I cannot give the app a good review though. The app seems to be riddled with bugs. Sometimes, tapping a collection doesn’t do anything. Tapping and holding the drag handle starts moving fields before I’ve moved my finger. It often happens that they start dragging down and there’s no way to drag them back up. If you cancel an “add new credentials” flow and then reopen the app, it comes back up. You can stack this error by canceling several additions. Each time you resume the app, it will bring up the next most recently canceled addition in the stack. I like 1Password and I’m more than happy to switch from LastPass after their multiple security scandals. But this app is making me consider switching to Dash Lane.

Why is this app getting worse?. Rather than improve, this app is getting worse! There is currently a bug where if you have this app and another side-by side, in the background or popover (on iPad) and you move between it and something else, when you go back to it it pulls up a different password entry instead of the one you left off on. The first time it happened, I actually changed a password different than the one I selected! This should NEVER be able to happen on an app that is designed for secure password storage. I’ve been using this app for as long as its been out and I swear its been going downhill the last 2 big releases or so. What gives!?! Get the basics right before adding a bunch of crap people aren’t using. You’re competing with Lastpass, and lets just say, that’s a LOW BAR!

Bugs and no fixes. Just trying to switch over from another password app, and it’s creating duplicates of every new entry. Is this supposed to be a feature? If you cancel the add item card when it pops up again after you hit save, it doesn’t save anything. So if you want to add a new item, you can make 2 or 0. Not sure what they’re doing there. I highly doubt the “support team” is the answer to this question. Try your programmers. Good thing I’m still on the free trial 😂 Update: So I contacted the support team as the canned response suggested, there is no resolution for this issue, it’s a bug, they’re working on it. In the mean time, I’ve moved on to a competitor, with a name something like “hyphen-road”… It’s going great over there! Whoever decided to release this unfinished, buggy mess of an app that you’re supposed to trust your most sensitive data to I have no idea. Avoid. Maybe less attention to the canned responses and more to your product and you wouldn’t have hurt the reputation of a once-great app and service.

Worst migration/update ever. First I should say I’ve been using 1password since 2006. It’s been great. No problems up to now. This “upgrade” migration was just really bad. The directions provided to get through this most delicate high wire act — moving all the keys to your life — is often not clear or not correctly provided. Some of the steps they give are in the wrong order. The whole process of upgrading is so slapdash casual. I almost lost everything. When my 1password7 vault was zeroed out in moving it into their cloud, it was all gone, and I couldn’t log into 1password 8. It was all gone. Luckily I had the presence of mind to turn off wifi and put my phone into airplane mode. The info I needed to log into 1password 8 was there in my old vault. OMG. And so now my 1password password — the key to all my keys — seems to be basically another web login? Besides the process being bad, I do not like this change.

Solid, Reliable Password Manager. I’ve used 1Password for a few months, replacing a clunkier password manager. Porting my ~150 passwords over was easy and went well. This password manager responds better to the wide variety of password situations, and when I encounter an app or webpage that I can’t rouse 1Password to populate, opening 1Password and manually copying and pasting is not difficult. I work across multiple platforms like many of us (iPhone, MacOS, Windows), and 1Password performs consistently well across them. The only annoyance is the necessity of logging into 1Password each desktop/ laptop session, and the iPhone with facial recognition is the easiest. Nice integration with Apple Watch, BTW.

What the heck happened?!. I’ve used 1Password for a *very* long time. Since at v3, maybe earlier. I’ve never questioned whether I can trust it. I upgraded the iOS app, and have repeatedly created multiple records for the same login, because after saving (in some circumstance, still trying to get repro steps), the edit sheet opens again as if I hadn’t saved it. Hitting save again creates a duplicate record. Sometimes it opens AGAIN after that! Im paranoid to /not/ hit save, because what if it really didn’t save? On top of that the new UX buries categories three levels deep! Glad I spent all that time using it as a private notes app. This is bananas. EDIT: All of us are reporting the same bugs—don’t tell us to email support. If you all aren’t experiencing the bugs, then you’re not using the software. What are you doing over there 1P?

Frozen account even though subscription paid. I signed up and subscribed through Apple, yet even though my subscription is paid and valid, my account is frozen. Used the same email as my Apple ID. Looking online, this has been a problem for years. Why offer an option to subscribe through the App Store if this continues to be an issue? Emailed customer support at 1Password and still no response. EDIT: received response from developer, but there is NO option to “apply subscription to account.” Account is still frozen. Second EDIT: I clicked Subscribe again. It told me I was already subscribed. I clicked manage. It showed an active subscription, but my account was still frozen. I clicked subscribe one more time, but this time just clicked ok. Account is now unfrozen. This was a huge pain, and there was well over 24 hours in between email responses with tech support. Seems to be working now. I hope.

Seems like it’s still in beta. I just switched from LastPass (10+ years) because of multiple data breaches. 1Password is included with my eero subscription. It’s good, not great, and more user friendly than LastPass. The app fill and Safari fill work fine (again, better than LastPass). The LastPass import function did not work so I had to import using csv. There is a major issue for which I have deducted 2 stars in that there must be a significant lag between edits and server updates (I don’t know if it’s local or in the cloud)… Any edit wreaks havoc in the app and in the browser. It seems to create multiple entries (possibly temporarily). Password changes don’t always update and I cannot find password creation history promised (LastPass did this well). Deleted entries don’t show up in the Recently Deleted folder at all. I’ve resorted to either copying the new password and pasting it to the notes of an entry or just creating a new temporary entry. This is a tedious workaround which doesn’t always work so I’ve had to reset multiple lost passwords. Since it’s “free” with my eero subscription, I’ll try it for a while. If it doesn’t improve, I guess Keeper is up next.

Buggy Since 8 release. I love 1Password and have used it for years both personally and professionally. However, since the 8 release, there’s been a handful of bugs that have been a bit irritating. Initially the lack of Apple Watch integration off the bat was a bit frustrating, thankfully they sort of fixed that but still has random flaws where the OTP doesn’t update consistently. Another issue I’ve been running into more recently on the phone app, if I switch from one app to another and then back to 1PW, it will open a random password file (not the one I was copying data from) as if I clicked “edit”… what’s scary is I don’t know if changes have been made to the password or not… I’ve been clicking “discard changes” just in case to get rid of it but this is frustrating because I haven’t tried to open any other files. This is treatable every time and it’s always a different file. 1PW, please resolve this one as it has the potential to create altered passwords that aren’t correct and could wreak havoc on shared passwords between team members. Please reach out if you need further details.

Was great but not anymore. I’ve used 1Password for a decade and gotten my whole family on it but, with 8, everyone is frustrated. It’s buggy, inconsistent and much more difficult in general to use. For example, it often gets confused as to what is filling out a field, the app or the extension. Also, if the app or the extension update, particularly on Mac, I’ve found it’s safest to just reboot the who computer as the two will almost never talk again until I do. I’ve really, really wanted to support the product with 8 buts it has been out a while now and, not only is it not even available yet for Mac in the App Store, but the bugs and inconsistencies have me looking at Bitwardern as an alternative for all of us.

It’s great. From a password manager standpoint, 1Password delivers. Easy integration with iOS and Safari. Sometimes you’ll find apps and websites will make it difficult to seamlessly use 1Password, but in those instances you’ll just have to create a password first then copy and paste it. I was a version 7 user and in terms of usability, I never experienced any issues or flaws. Sure, 8 has some issues, but most have been worked out and the issues that do exist or so mundane that they don’t even bother me. They’ll get fixed with time. So, if you see the reviews and rating just know it’s actual users using the app, not leaving for a competitor app, but actual 1Password users who are salty version 8 isn’t as flawless as 7 was. It will get there eventually. The current rating does not justify how great this app really is. There’s a reason 1Password has always been and continues to be one of the most recommended password managers out there.

Still disappointing. The engineers who are working on this app are not communicating enough with those working on the macOS app. The apps used to be mostly in-sync with each other in how their UIs work. This release of the iOS app is a wide departure from the previous UIs. Lots of things moved, changed, but I can see no reason for the changes. And I’ve read a fair amount of complaining about these changes. It looks to me like some engineer chose a certain toolbox for the management of the UI (or parts of it) and *forced* everything to fit within it, rather than consulting experienced HCI people to determine usage patterns and proper placement of UI items to facilitate those patterns. There is a lot of white space in the UI what wasn’t there before and it does nothing but make the UI look childish and waste users’ clicks and scrolls to find what they want—things that were easier and quicker to find in the previous UI. I’m always in favor of improvements, and in general in the past, 1Password has added useful and helpful features. And there are indeed improvements in this release, just not the UI. The macOS UI for version 8 is much better and more expected than this iOS version. As I said, I’m disappointed here. But probably the most important thing is that this new UI has effectively turned what was the top notch password manager into (apparently) one of the worst with its 3.4 rating. It’s hard to get a high rating. But it’s easy to lose it. And even harder to get it back.

A strange fall!!. I can't believe that a Application was destroyed like this with an update! I mean, the version of your notes in Password7 was backed up on your iCloud, but this is not the case in this new version! In the new version, if you do not buy a monthly subscription, your notes will be frozen and you will not be able to edit them! Can't even delete them!! Your notes will remain on the 1password server until the day their servers become hack and your notes and passwords fall into the hands of hackers! This version of the program has completely insulted the user! unbelievable!! A strange fall!! Only because of the respect I have for Password7, I did not give one star and gave two stars! 2) The app store should remove this app from its store because this company is deceiving the user recently and when you have not received a monthly account, they will freeze your account and deny you the ability to delete your notes and hold you hostage until you do. Get a monthly subscription and you won't have mental security until you get a monthly subscription!!!

App is horrible. This app has gradually gotten worse over the years. The UI went from great to awful like they couldn't afford a team and offshored it to one individual in india. If I thought the UI was bad overall UX is 100x's worse. No since of intuition on where and why things are placed in app. Just a bunch of view incoherently thrown together. Starting a year or so ago the app started having more and kore bugs. So I started contacting support. They are probably the least qualified people and it really makes you wonder if this is their support how bad are the engineers. The company focuses on woke not security or quality. For example, I go into a app and go to load my password and a giant gray screen with "go to one password app" comes up instead of just inserting login and password like it used to do. Who would ever approved such a terrible design? Regardless of who the app remains awful and if you still needed reason not to download couple that with low wuality support or just closes tickets without providing answers or doesn't take the time to read email and just think before replying. They litterally could ask 10 questions in one email but because that would be efficient and efficiency is bad these days. They turn it into a back and forth 1 question per email with several day turn around as the teams in whatever country are on different times.

Recent updated F’ed this app. This app no longer auto-fills the necessary fields to log into accounts. I have cleared browser cache, disabled/enabled the browser extension, turned phone on/off…and nothing seems to work right anymore. When editing an existing login, the app switches to a previously viewed login…pay attention before you change passwords or you will change it for the wrong login even though you very specifically select which one to edit, the app brings up a different login ready for editing!!!! When trying to set up extensions to have this app work with a browser, it tries to ask permission to use/access a previously navigated web page instead of the web page you are actively trying to log into. Basically you have to open the app, and manually copy/paste every field… this app has become a lot less convenient, and more cumbersome to use.

(Nearly) Indispensable Service Wrapped in a Problematic App. I’ve been using 1Password for a long time and believe it is one of the most indispensable services of modern computing/digital life. However, their decisions some time ago to transition to a new cross-platform development paradigm has been devastating to the user experience and keeps me on edge. It’s buggy and slow and filled with tiny “painful” UI moments. Using 1P to autofill passwords, I constantly have to tap two or three times before it will respond. This morning I opened 1Password and was given a glimpse of my Recent Items before it flashed away and presented the Lock Screen. Didn’t make me feel good. At this point I am anxiously awaiting a future where Apple provides a standalone app for password management. When that day arrives, I am almost certainly ditching 1Password.

So glad i’m off LastPass. I’ve been using 1Password for about a month now, and I like it just fine. I wish it could stay open longer because it’s a pain to keep entering the password and yes, I have checked the interval for how long a password is valid. At the same time, a password manager is supposed to be secure, right? This one feels secure. Mainly I’m glad I’m off LastPass now. It made me uneasy to open the app and immediately see a warning see a security warning about the latest breach. Looks new owners squeezed too much profit out of it instead of investing in security.

Still lacking some features. Like a lot of PW Managers there a pros and cons… the web UI is inconsistent in comparison to mobile and PC. BUT THAT DOESNT MATTER! small gripe and will improve. 1Password comes with loads of custom and proprietary integration options… they even have a freakin CLI to integrate across virtually any 3rd party to your hearts content give ln you are so technically inclined. I’ve used all paid versions of Lastpass, Dashlane, NordPass AND Keeper (the only other pw manager that holds a flame IMO is keeper). Honestly 1password is the most unique, streamlined and best documented out there. They get 5 stars from me for effort and keeping up with the times… The only cons are minimal… being unable to upload multiple attachments to a single record… nothing that would deter me personally…. There is no perfect password manager out there but this one is pretty much as good as it gets - at least until ChatGPT starts building it’s own apps, takes over the world and imprisons us all. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if the Devs at 1Password are already looking at wrangling that bull. Cheers mates. Great work

Glitched. I spent an entire day setting up 1Password and updating my weak passwords. I was using 1Password as an app on my phone and a Chrome browser extension. The app stopped connecting to the network, so when I updated the password for 1Password on my desktop, it did not sync to the app. The next morning, I tried to use 1Password to unlock a website, but 1Password itself was locked in the extension. So I had to put in the password to unlock my other passwords. But the password had not updated in the app because the app would not connect to the network or sync. So I was 100% locked out on the desktop. In trying to get the app to connect to the network, I got signed out. Then it connected to the network! So now the app wants the updated password as well. I have lost access to all of my updated passwords, and now have to spend an entire second day updating my passwords. Update: 1Password team is replying to everyone that their review is better suited for the support team. Maybe the support team needs to read the reviews and make some updates? And fix the bug where every time I click “edit” on a login, a random login opens to edit, never the one I actually want to edit. And the bug that causes me to need to lock and unlock the app/website for them to sync or update. I’ll be happy to update my review again when the app improves.

Love this app. I’m not sure how I lived so long without it. Actually, yes I do. I reused about 4 passwords across every site or app - not very safe or smart. I love that I can have 1Password suggest and save new passwords, and I can edit the suggested password before saving it. I can save membership numbers, credit cards, etc. on top of login info. I also love that I can share a password with someone by sending them a link to that specific password. I also have a shared vault with my husband where we save our personal login info, and I save all of my work related passwords in my personal/not shared vault. It works great for us. Now when the bank requires us to update our passwords, the other person doesn’t get locked out. And I don’t have to remember any passwords, except my 1Password password. Love it! I’m sure I’m not utilizing it to its full potential but I appreciate what I do use it for.

Rushed update introduced nasty bugs. 1Password 8 introduced nasty bugs. The worst one is that if you tap on the edit button for an entry, it will edit a totally different entry. I just tried to edit a credit card and it saved my changes to a totally unrelated login. This has happened repeatedly since version 8 was released. It’s deeply disturbing that version 8 was released in this condition, especially since the bugs involve improper state management when editing passwords and other data: the app opens the edit window for a totally different entry after you tap on the edit button, editing the wrong data, losing data when editing, etc. This release was clearly rushed, and combined with the fact that these bugs are so frequent that QA surely found them in testing, clearly indicates they knew the product wasn’t ready but they shipped it anyway. For an app that holds its user’s most sensitive information, this is unacceptable and a breach of trust.

Gone downhill. I’d really like to hear from leadership about the way the product has gone down hill since v8. I used to recommend 1Password to all my friends and I’ve been a family account holder since they started offering it, but the bugs and poor design decisions in v8 have me looking for an alternative. All of the issues mentioned in other reviews happen for me as well. Password filling in Safari used to be rock solid, but now it fails most of the time. It seems to decide randomly when I should enter my passcode instead of using biometrics. Searching is a hot mess! I need to enter in the exact string to find what I’m looking for most of the time. Please don’t use the canned reply on this, I know the support email and have emailed them many times, and each time they say it’s a “known issue”.

Poor support, locked out. 1Password worked fine during the free trial. As soon as I paid for the subscription, I started getting locked out. I was having to enter my password and secret key every time. I thanked my preference to having to enter it every 2 weeks, and I then changed my password to something easier for me to remember (since I was having to use it daily). Two days after changing my password, I could not get into my account at all. The secret key is worthless, it wouldn’t even let me in. Two factor verification was non existent. So now, it’s been about a week and multiple contacts with support. Support takes a couple days, at least, to get back to you. And they basically tell you to use your secret key and password or delete the account. No other help available.

Upgrading to 8 has only been a downgrade.. I mention all of the following negative remarks fully knowing I have the power to move apps, but I won’t so this review is a 3 but may as well be a 2: Overall, I miss 1Password 7 so much. When I generate and save new passwords from my iPhone’s browser or other apps then open 1Password 8, it re-prompts me to save each of the latest entries. This duplicates the entry, so I have to manually go back and scrub them. But I choose this route because it is never clear if my first save was successful at first or if it captured the wrong password string that I settled on. This has been the pattern for months. I will always appreciate how 1Password allows me to customize password key strings, so I am sticking with it as LastPass has their security/UI flaws and I don’t care for the other competitors for many reasons. But man, am I reconsidering. I wish many of us could go back to version 7. This new app version is awful for more reasons. It randomly dies on me mid save. Naturally, that hasn’t been fun. It is less intuitive to navigate; for example, I remember 7 made it easier to go to groupings like bank accounts. As someone who works with Product and UX teams in tech, the flaws in 8 are frustrating to experience. But to see no improvement to date is a whole other story. I thought time would resolve these pain points. But here we are. On a upgrade that feels like a downgrade.

Has potential, but some serious flaws need to be addressed. The concept is great, however, trying to share with someone, in my case, my spouse, is extremely sloppy. Everything‘s in private vaults you have to put in the share vault and you end up having multiple logins for the same account some of them being old passwords that are still there. I find that when I try to login to something that I haven’t logged in for a long time, i’ll bring up 1Password and they’ll be 10 different logins, some with old passwords. This makes it become very messy. Also, when I save a new password, it automatically defaults into my personal vault, which doesn’t share with my spouse until I edit it to change it to all vaults. All these extra steps have us looking to switch to a different password manager.

1Password 8 has gone to the dogs. I have been a HUGE fan of 1Password over the years. The latest release is a complete disaster. It fails to work on the basic use case of a password manager - to fill passwords on a form. 1Password was built as a Mac first app - and it worked flawlessly. With 1Password 8 it was rewritten to be cross platform so they can go after more users and make more money - and in the process completely broke the app. It has not worked on Marriott, Chase or other very mainstream sites. I have tried working through support - who believe it or not blame apple for the problems. Even though their own 1Password 7 works beautifully. Support basically said we know it does not work and we will not fix it - because it is an Apple problem!!!!! Their solution - here is an faq article on downgrading to 1Password 7! So very disappointing for what used to be EXCELLENT software with excellent support. The whole company seems to have lost their way recently. Most of these problems are on a Mac - maybe it works on Windows.

Switched from LastPass and LOVE 1Password!. Due to the recent LastPass breach, I started searching for a new password manager. I have tried all the top password managers including Dashlane and Keeper. I downloaded several of the top password managers and tested them out in multiple browsers and on my iPhone and iPad. Personally speaking, 1Password is my favorite. To be completely honest, I was a little wary of 1Password due to some of the negative reviews. But I’m really happy that I took it for a test drive. I have yet to experience a single glitch or issue of any kind. 1Password has been working flawlessly. LOVE IT!

Should have done this sooner. I was a long time hold out to using a dedicated password manager because I didn’t just want another app to maintain. There is some startup capital you will have to invest (time, app learning curve, etc) but in the end it is so worth it. Love the integrations with browsers and my iPhone. Love the ability to customize password length and special character usage. It just feels better knowing my passwords are protected and randomized for each different application/resource. Now I truly only have to remember 1 password and not have to worry as much about a single data breach at random website exposing all my information to more sensible accounts. I will say some of the bugs mentioned in other reviews do exist (random crashes, asking to create/save a password two times) and are annoying but I assume the developers will work these out over time.

Switching Apps. My biggest issue with this app has been when a new version is released, I lose EVERYTHING I have saved. The reason being, is that I get very used to using my face to access the app, usually for a year or more from when I have set the master password, then, all of a sudden I come back one day, the app has updated and I can no longer access with my face. It would be very helpful to get warnings that an update is coming, so that I can go in and change my master password or do something that allows me to have access after the change. I realize this is on me that I’m not remembering my master password, but I cannot be the only person who gets lazy and relies on the face or fingerprint security. This is the third time this is happened, and I will just go out and find another app since now I have to go back and reset all of my passwords anyway.

For a paid service, I expected basic functionality. Im not one to leave reviews but I just switched from Lastpass to 1Password and am wondering why I decided to start paying money for this. I wanted to have access to my passwords on my phone, but this app is really glitchy with other apps when prompted for a password. The whole reason I got a password app is so that they would autofill, but now I am prompted to type in my complicated 1PW master password every time I log in. This is extra annoying because the interface is buggy and you cant actually see the field you are typing in because the keyboard is in the way. On top of that, if I change a website password 1Password doesn't ask to update it in my vault so I have to do it manually. All of this is just as annoying as not having password management on my phone and keeping the free Lastpass service. If it doesnt get better in three months Im out.

So many in need of whaAmbulance. Not sure why so many whine about the app. Seems to be mostly people who don’t take the time to setup properly, neglect reaching out to what my experience has been the most responsive support team to ask questions, or simply complain about something that wasn’t offered to begin with. Most issues I have encountered where resolved with a little effort put into settings tweaks, what I couldn’t find or figure out was resolved by reaching out to support. Support has been amazing every step of the way, everyone with exception of the sneaky world domination focused Ai Bitbot…… yeah you! Have been amazing ( mentioning BitBot jokingly.) They also take feedback seriously and look forward to future possibilities like integration of other apps like Eprivo, duplicate merging, and other ideas anyone comes up with. Seriously don’t be an angry (insert colorful adjective here) and you may be surprised how kind, playful, and responsive any developer may be when you try and communicate with them. Thanks 1Password for all your hard work! Looking forward to who ever draws the short straw next 😉. Until Next Time, DeletediO

App is not great. A few issues/bugs on 8. However, my biggest problem is with its limitations. There are many things that you cannot do with the app and are required to login to the website. For instance, you cannot recover your family member’s account from the app. You cannot export your data from the app. As far as I know, you can’t change your master password from the app. My second problem, and this is a big one, is that there is no live chat or phone support. For example, I recently had an issue where my login was working on one device, but not the other. Then I couldn’t log in on the website. Going back and forth on Twitter and/or e-mail is frustrating and slow. Eventually I figured out that if I logged out of everything then I could log back in. Now it’s working. I’m not sure if I’m getting any value from 1Password that I couldn’t get from a free service. I’m currently investigating some different options.

New app has many more features!!. I’m a longtime 1Password user and was hesitant to switch from 7 to 8 as I saw no point and things in version 8 is slightly re-arranged. However after checking with support on some longtime pet peeves of mine, they were super helpful and firmly suggested that I move to 1Password 8. I did and am very happy with the new features. I had no idea they were in the new app. Example-for sites and apps with a user login and then a credit card where before the app couldn’t tell the difference, the app now gives you the option to update and learn the difference. Works great on similar bank issued credit cards and anything where you had to hand select before. Many more improvements and the app seems to have better system hooks and to run faster than before. Overall excellent performance and update.

Deleting passwords breaks the app. If I delete a password, particularly from watchtower tab, the UI breaks. The entry has been removed, but it’s still visible. Clicking on it or anything below will now result in a click offset by 1, due to the delete being out of sync. Further, swiping left to delete another entry no longer works. Swipes are broken after this, and maybe thank god since the UI is out of sync, and I’m likely swiping on a mislabeled entries. Also, the delete confirmation to view/undo is SUPER annoying. Massive, intrusive popup that CAN’T be dismissed and stacks. Meaning delete 2 back to back and you can’t see anything on your screen for 5 seconds. What a pain. Do NOT expect to be able to manage existing passwords on the iOS app. Do it on desktop or you will hate every moment of it. So we have a password manager that you can’t manage passwords on. For $7/mo for life. Nice. Edit: thanks for the generic, unhelpful response that you give to all less than perfect reviews.

I’ve Lost All Faith in AgileBits. AgileBits could teach a masterclass on how to completely destroy a great app and screw their customers over in the process. I can’t believe this app was actually released in this state, bugs galore! I guess this is the result of a company aiming to please venture capitalists rather than their loyal customer base who got them here. I’ve lost my patience with this company, it’s been months since they released this dumpster fire of an app and it just gets continuously worse. Good riddance 1Password! Here, I’ll even do your job for you: DEVELOPER RESPONSE Thanks for leaving a review. We completely agree with you, our app is a flaming pile of horse crap. The fact of the matter is that we just don’t care about you as individual customers, we only care about our enterprise customers. Please download and use Bitwarden instead, as all of our developers are still high school students taking their very first programming class. Thanks for the 36 bucks though!

Software you need more than you realize. 1Password is the kind of software you don't realize how much you need until you have it. It's not just about passwords: it's about protecting all the information and money controlled via your computers and phones. If you stop to think about it, that is a mouthful. The family plan gives me a way to protect all of that not just for myself, but for people I care about who are not so tech savvy. But it must be admitted that in order to use all the things 1Password does requires a bit of a learning curve, both for the family organizer, and for everyone who uses it.

With the right choices by devs, could be leading password manager in a few years!. Wow. I've used LastPass, DashLane and the default Apple/ios password manager. None come close to 1Password in any aspect: design, customizability, family password sharing, adding custom fields that auto-fill into the website. I am shocked at the lack of reviews for the iPhone app. So far, it works well for me. Not as polished as the desktop application, but once y'all polish up some mobile stuff and maybe market more aggressively (it took me forever to hear about 1Password) you will get more mobile users. I hope to see this app/company succeed and use this as my password, identity and secure note manager for decade(s) to come. 🍀

I keep trying 8, I keep returning to 7. The change logs on 1Password 8 are often extensive. They’re working to try to make it the best. Despite this, every time I decide to try to make 8 my default manager, I end up back on 7 later in the same day. The biggest hang-up for me right now is 7 shows a preview for what account will autofill in Safari allowing me to quickly pick the key or select the account. I use this all the time to skip the 1P interface all together for faster authentication, and I’m surprised the devs haven’t been missing this feature enough to implement it. I also find the Favorites and Categories tabs in 7 more useful for navigation than “Home” (with Favorites buried at the bottom) and “Items” with Vaults on the top and Categories below. Who navigates their password management by vault? It’s search or category, not vault. I’ll check on one state of 8 in a few more months and see how it’s progressing. I still love the core 1Password product and its architecture, but on iOS, I’d be happy to see updates for 7.

Fresh new look, key features missing. The look is nice once used to, however I have found 3 issues so far with 1password 8: 1) not as intuitive to change passwords/add notes etc. Easy to quickly search and copy to clipboard, but I struggle changing passwords from within the app - unsure why the create new password button is on the bottom. Makes it easier to accidentally delete/incorrectly save a password - oh and iOS’ native keychain app wants to input the 1password password into all editable passwords pages, making it easy to accidentally overwrite passwords. 2) dosnt accept SSL intercept/corporate proxies on the macos app (and as such I cannot use 1password 8 on the Mac) 3) no longer distributed via macos App Store. Quite sad - I do most of my app section via what’s available on both the Mac and iOS app stores - a huge reason I began using 1password in the first place over other password managers. This is a complaint I can live with though.

Better. Not sure why such mediocre ratings given, maybe due to bugs in earlier versions. I find it better than the 7th version, made the switch almost immediately. There are things I wished they had in the 7th that got added in 8th, like ability to see recently added/modified entries at glance, so that’s nice. Customer service is top notch as always, can’t recommend it enough.

Make the uppercase more noticeable. When entering passwords please make upper and lower case more obvious.

I’d look elsewhere. This app has gone seriously downhill. Don’t know what happened but nowadays you can’t even type in your password to save in the app without it skipping characters. App performance is generally buggy and slow even on new hardware. And the subscription model is expensive. Not worth it

No longer can see my key to setup another device!. Old app I could use to easy setup another device as it would show the account information. In this new app all that is gone. I can’t even see which email I used (I use email aliases for privacy).

Issues with current release. When accessing records within 1Password 8 the app is loading strangely to previous editions, entering at other records. When I go to edit a specific record, selecting edit on that record it is actually switching to an entirely different record necessitating locating the record and selecting edit once more whereupon it works.

Better then Lastpass. I recently switched from Lastpass to 1Password and I have found every aspect better. My favourite feature is being able to save 2FA codes and auto fill them!

Your memory will thank you. 1Password strikes a good balance between being usable and secure. You may be frustrated by setting up on a new device (which has gotten smoother lately to be fair) or occasional clunkiness with auto fill, but you’d be much much sadder if your single password you use everywhere gets compromised. 1Password generates and stores seperate passwords and secrets for all your login needs so you don’t have to remember them or revert to reusing the same password or the same password(+n) for your nth website. I also appreciate the attitude of the company, they seem always willing to listen to their users and make an effort to understand their concerns and resolve/explain them. They’re doing good work in an increasingly fraught space.

No issues. I’ve been using 1Password for about 6 months now and having it on my pc , iPad and iPhone has been a good experience. The watch tower recommendations helped me secure my accounts and paired with my Bitdefender products (I don’t like BD’s password manager) I feel like I’m back in control of my personal cyber security. I’ve recommended it to several friends and family members.

Ouch!. I was happy with version 7 and so keen to try out the latest offering. It installed easily, and I was keen to review the watchtower recommendations. Only problem it crashed, and since then I haven’t been able to log in again. I removed it from my iPad, rebooted, and tried the same sequence again sure enough it happened again. So here we have an app with an easily repeatable bug. Let’s hope you guys fix it quick as it’s not a good look releasing untested features in a security related app. Hope there aren’t any other bugs that could compromise users passwords. Update: Thank you for contacting me and acknowledging the bug. I’ll hold fire on v8 until I see it’s been fixed in the release note as I need to be confident it works right from day 1. I’ve improved my rating to acknowledge your response.

Need to Add an Authenticator. Generally a great app but have to frequently type in the master password. Would be great to streamline this process. Cheers!

Forced subscription. You cannot just purchase the app anymore and you cannot use a stand alone vault. They did one thing and they did it well. 10 years later and like everyone else they’re greedy. Can you please make 7 available for download.

Subscription Only?. I’ve had 1password for years and now all of a sudden there’s a new app that’s v8 so is this just for subscribing customers? As always it’s never clear with their customer service and they don’t tell you anything 🤷🏽‍♂️

Safe, secure, simple. I swapped from last pass last year after seeing all of the issues and security breaches last pass was having. After spending a lot of time researching who to shift over to, I chose 1pass due to their passion for cyber security. I have 0 regrets. 1pass has been fantastic. There is a little management and setup required, but once you have it, everything is super easy. 11/10. Simple to use app. Safe and secure passwords / accounts. Couldn't live without it. (maybe I could but I definitely do not want to)

Lack of support for Apple Watch is a major Step Backwards. I have been using 1password since 2013 and have found it to be the best password manager available, when I saw the 1Password8 was available for iOS I naturally downloaded it straight away.I then went back into my office (where I can't take my phone), sat at my desk and proceeded to attempt to log into a website that I needed a password for, so I clicked on the digital crown of my Apple Watch and looked for 1password, only to find that the app had disappeared. Now the removal of support for Apple Watch has not been communicated in any of the release notes for 1Password8 - at least nowhere I can see, and I feel that the removal of such a vital app from my watch for a product I have paid a great deal of money to over the years to be a complete betrayal. There doesn't seem be much answers in the community forums for 1password either. So I will be reinstalling 1Password7 and continue to use it until 1Password8 has support for Apple Watch, or I will take my passwords and manage them on a password manager that does actually continue to support products that have been available in previous versions of their software.

The new app is worse. It’s so much harder to navigate in this updated app. Some features and settings are missing. I preferred the old 1Password 7 app.

Hate 1 8. 1Password 8 is so bad, after years on the platform, my records are ruined. All of the work I’ve put into curating a database, gone!! The new version is really bad. I can’t find stuff. The layout has completely changed. I’ve lost records, which was the whole point of having the app!! It’s cumbersome, awkward and a complete pain… to use. I h8 it

Happy customer here. I recently migrated from another app and I find 1password user-friendly and responsive with many useful features and an attractive interface. The helpdesk is one of the best: fast and focused responses that worked, both times I messaged it during set-up. (I am baffled by other negative reviews. Maybe it improved before I came along!)

Too many bugs. the older version worked fine. this update still has tons of bugs. I can’t even edit tags on items because it won’t let me scroll down to click add new tag. it’s awful and i don’t know how they managed to make a worse version

Great product. Honestly don’t understand all the hate. Functional, fast, smooth, and pretty to boot :)

1Plover. I am finding 1P trying to do so much & although loved V 7 , I have to say G 8 is over the top & so much more confusing - where is the simplicity ?

A Solid Vault. I certainly recommend 1Password. It is a enormous vault where you can store you passwords. And the best part is you only need to remember One Password!

No watch support UPDATED. The only reason I switched to this app was watch support and with version 8 the watch support is gone. Extremely disappointing. Will be looking at other options. Edit: “weren’t able to get it into the initial launch.” So then why launch? If it’s not finished and polished then why launch it and expect people to still pay for the unfinished version? Should’ve kept everyone on version 7 while you get it into the initial launch of 8 and not release it without such a critical and marketed feature that people such as myself have coveted and paid for. My review will be updated when and if you ever get around to that watch support. Fact is, if you remove 1Password 7 from the App Store then everyone loses that feature, don’t they? So no one has any security that they’ll have continued Watch support via 1Password 7 except your word which could change at any moment. Reality is, you’re haemorrhaging customers because of this half baked launch.

Can’t wait to get off this app. Have been on 1Password for years. Initially it was fair value. Now it is WAY overpriced and the UI is trash, somehow they took a good product and totally stuffed it. Moving to something that is simple and cost effective. Do your homework

Finally fixed biometric unlock bug. Can finally retire using version 7. Version 8 is OK, but I still hate how the safari extension has a giant floating element that covers web pages UI. Would prefer only the 1password logo at the end of the entry field without the giant floating thing showing the account that can sign into the page.

Amazing responsiveness, well made. It’s amazing how much noticeably faster the new app is. The craftsmanship is noticeable. I do miss the labels on the bottom tabs though. I feel removing them for unlabelled icons is an accessibility step backwards. On the search screen it also feels weird having nothing there until you start typing - yes I know it’s fundamentally the same but I like seeing the other records there and then “filtering” them rather than “nothing” til search. Overall though, really nice work on the new app.

Good but Buggy. It’s a solid application and I especially appreciate the desktop browser extension. However, the iPhone app is somewhat buggy. It has improved over the past month or so, but there are still some issues. For example, when I open the app it opens to a recently edited password in edit mode. I would’ve thought that when I open the app for the first time in a couple of days, it shouldn’t open in edit mode of a specific password just because that was the last state it was in when I closed it. Overall the issues are relatively trivial and the application is good value.

Best Version Yet!. I was quite pleased with the update that was recently made to the Mac and Windows versions of the app. It’s satisfying to see that the design is now uniform. The new app seems more fluid and easier to navigate and the placement of certain functions and features seems like they really listened to the community. Definitely recommend updating or switching to 1Password 8!

Set up a personal account today, happy so far.. I’ve used this at work, but decided today to try out a personal account. Really like it. Definitely going to make things easier for me. I like that I also store other information, like API keys and CRNs in here too!

Every update introduces new bugs. Nga

Only “shared secret” model supported.. Except there is no such thing as a shared secret. Yes, you keep the encryption key. But not the storage or the encryption algorithms or the encryption implementation. Your passwords, albeit encrypted, are stored in the cloud. You, as the user, do not control the security of this cloud. The common argument is - but if there is a leak (and there is always a leak, despite all the good intentions), then only encrypted data leaks. Problems is, any encryption can be broken. If not today l, then tomorrow. If not with today’s computer, then with next generation one. Every encryption scheme that at some stage was claimed to be unbreakable was, in fact, broken. Allowing the user to set the encryption key just shifts responsibility to the user. The truth is, there is no such thing as a shared secret. Only a vault on a device controlled by the user and encrypted by the user is truly under the users control. Sadly, the “shared secret” is the only kind of storage 1password 8 supports. As a long time user of 1password from v 1.0 to the latest version 7, I am very disappointed with this move. Whata fantastic way to screw your loyal user base. I am looking for an alternative product to use instead of 1password now. Sad, but this is good bye. And no, I do not want to contact support.

Sanctioned in Australia. I tried to pay my annual subscription and was not able. I contacted support and they said I was sanctioned because of what is happening in Ukraine. I was born and live in Australia!? Perhaps this company could spend less time trying to be woke and virtue signalling, and more time studying a map :) Moved to another platform which is much better rated.

Overpriced. This product used to be good when they focussed on password protection. Recently there’s been a shift towards becoming a premium product with a monthly subscription, and the app has suffered. No longer is the focus on password protection. There are better open-source alternatives than this. Overpriced, but with a nicer font. That’s it.

Oh dear -subscription pay pay pay pay pay. “Subscription service” ie start renting your software, is not something I like. I don’t rent my home, I don’t rent Microsoft Office, Adobe, or Autodesk, Apple TV… etc and I’m sure as hell not going to start renting every other little bit if software or thing in my life that I need to use every day. I got a little suspicious when I saw the app had a new version -but with a seperate name. Then it wanted to migrate my data. Hmmm why a new app? Updated visual branding, fixed migration bugs Oh.. subscription after two weeks hmm how about “no”? There is no value added every week and Apple stores most of my passwords for free.

Best password manager. 1Password has so many awesome features. Wish I knew about this years ago. Totally recommended

Improvements!. For the first time, I feel that 1password understands UI. I like how this new version walks you through how to use 1Password properly. One feature that I think would be great is for people who choose a single password for every website, please allow auto fill shortcuts. For example: if my password phrase is “abcdefghijknop” - and I have set up the auto complete feature on iOS for this phrase ( ie. whenever I type just “abc” it fills in the rest of the phrase), I would be thrilled if this can happen on this app. I don’t wish to have to type the whole phrase when I’m signing up to a new website… I just want to write “abc” and the rest of the phrase gets entered. PLEASE add this feature.

Just converted from 1 password 7 to 8. I loved 1 password 7 and converted to 8. At first blush the new look and feel is terrific so well done. BUT the functionality in various areas simply isn’t working! It needs some immediate attention to fix these incredibly annoying bugs For example… If you add a new section in 1Password 8 it is there in edit but doesn't display. To get it display you have to go back to 1 password 7, add it there and then the information shows beautifully in 1 password 8. Thank goodness I didn’t delete 1 password 7 per the instructions. Also in edit there is no record delete function under identities. These errors should have been picked up in user testing cases and the app paused until more complete. Great shame as I love 1 password. Also it is not intuitive to upgrade from individual to say a family or business account. This should be an easy process with steps clearly outlined. I want my family to be able to get the protection I get from using 1 password . I want them to have their own vault that I can’t see but we can share some passwords. I just can’t figure out how to do this or even to find out what type of subscription I have on the app.

Disappointed. I have used 1Password for over a decade. Updated yesterday to v8. It no longer accepts my master password. Support is limited and do not reply. Bad when companies grow too big for their own good. What is point of paying for a license if I don’t get neither the software to work or support to fix it. No way I will ever recommend it again to other people, as it would be bad for me.

Good app for password management. I think 1password is quite good app for password management. I have been using it for more than a year now and it worked perfectly for my requirements. When I compared this app with other competitors the main unique selling point for this app was that it didn’t have any data leaks and it was giving standalone vault to avoid putting data in cloud. It seems to me that this is a step backward in this version where they have removed this support which was kind of differentiator for this app.

Looks nice, less feature rich than 1password7. The user interface looks nicer, but I can’t change the settings on the lock timing within browser extensions or easily change settings from within the app. For some websites which require a pin, member number and email address, it overrides specific fields. I still enjoy the capabilities of the app as a whole, but they need to improve the usability before I give a higher rating.

Good update but still some frustrations. I've used a few of the password managers and I think 1password is still the best one & I love the ability to have two vaults to separate personal passwords and work ones. But still some major frustrations. Mine asks for the master password so often. My master pw is very complicated and time consuming to type on an iphone. The policy says it only asks for the master pw every 2 weeks but I guarantee thats not the case. Mine seems to be every 2 days. If face id is secure enough for my bank it should be for 1pass too. Also why with the new update to 8 did we have to install a whole new app? Surely you can just update the old one!

Excellent password manager, responsive developer. 1Password 8 is a very nice update! I use 1Password many times a day on both my phone and laptop, and find the subscription well worth the investment. I’m also very pleased that the latest patch update on iOS has brought back the option to never reenter the master password if I’m using Face ID. This patch came within a couple of days of my previous version of this review, which complained that the option had been removed in the initial 1Password 8 release. That’s A+ developer responsiveness. (This option is important to me, since I’m not very good at typing passwords on a phone.) Side note: Support for SSH keys on the laptop is amazing!

Version 8 is a backwards step. 1Password has been my most indispensable app for many years on Mac, iPhone and iPad. It was stable, the interface worked well, and the steady upgrades to incorporate biometrics when the hardware was released on iPhone and Mac and iPad, was great. This version however is a step in the wrong direction. The visual overhaul has made navigation within the app a little less smooth, the Mac version especially is clunky in how it integrates with Safari, the iPad version has significant bugs (thankfully I read the reviews re these iPad bugs before upgrading from version 7 on my iPad - I’ll now wait for the version which fixes these issues). It’s still an ok app, and with years of using it I am reluctant to change, but it’s a long way from the 5 star app it has been in the past. I hope, given the yearly cost of the subscription, that these issues are fixed soon.

Downloaded old passwords. I’ve just updated your app, and my passwords have reverted to a previous copy, I’ve deleted it and reinstalled but still is the old version. Not happy

Finally I can use FaceID. Very happy with the product, yes, it has rarely pitfalls but it’s all worth it!

Major FaceID issues (biometrics). 1Password 8 has a known issue with FaceID not working for some users. Now with iOS 16 it’s not available to use with Safari either. Is this the end of 1Password? Will “passkeys” render password managers redundant? It’s very unlike 1Password to release rushed products with bugs. Looking forward to a prompt fix for this but it’s just not coming soon enough. My favourite app of all time, the one I tell everyone to use is not currently living up to expectations & for the first time has me questioning the relationship trust. Make it right & i’ll champion your business again 👍

Scary Scam Do Not Purchase. I used to have an account but then it froze as I stopped paying after a year and just forgot to as its a nice to have thing but don’t really need it. I received an email recently (definitely from 1Password) saying I can get $10 off if I renew again. Now that I want it again for a new phone, I realised I should renew and I’d get $10 off too. I should have known it sounded too good to be true. When you download it on the App Store it does not let you log in at all, it forces you to pay upfront the regular price. So I was lied to, on top of that, it did not let me connect to my old account. This has been a nightma process. I had no choice but to purchase it again just to get my account renewed. I paid for everything via App Store btw not any third party sites. This company has gone from genuine to a scam and should be taken off the App Store. This is so wrong to advertise that it can be bought at a difficult price yet you are forced to pay the full amount up front and there’s no option for me to request a feedback. After this years subscription is over that’s it, I’d rather pay more for a better app that won’t expect you to pay twice because of a stupid App Store loop hole. How the hell else am I supposed to get the app on a new phone??

No local vaults in this version. Broken, unable to open local vaults.

Who approved this version?. So many flaws in this version it is ridiculous. Yet we pay the same full year fee for an app that is terrible. You go to edit a saved login and it open another completely different login when I press edit. Just one example of many. Terrible.

Amazing product. I suspect the mediocre reviews are a result of early versions of the app. Currently using v8 and its stable and very user friendly. There’s still minor initial load Home page UI inconsistencies but apart from that I’m recommending this app to all my friends.

Lost its credibility. Sorry, but this version should not have been released. Requiring users to manually sign in again is certainly the worst idea ever. Good way to kill your product.

Watch app. Where’s the watch app gone?

I’m done. I used to love this with the old app, but since the switch to 1Passowrd 8, I’ve been disappointed. First, no more on-device/iCoud storage. I’m forced not only to have to save my stuff on yet another server (“zero-knowledge” or not). Second, I’ve been forced into a subscription. That wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for: Third, the apps UIs are horribly buggy. I either have to click on different tabs to have it finally display, have items either not save or disappear after saving and have the edited item switch on me along with other erratic behaviour, and that’s assuming that it doesn’t crash. Pre-emotive note to the dev’s response: No I won’t be following up with support to submit the bug reports. I’ve found other solutions that will suit my needs better. Good luck to you getting this back to the reliability it had before!

Invested With Bugs. I can’t even use the app. Don’t waist your time and money on this one. They have a long way to go with this mobile app. I can’t even enter a password because the cursor keeps jumping everywhere, all the text is flashing, and nothing types. It’s a disaster. This has been around for multiple versions of the app now. Fix it!

Extremely buggy version. I have been a huge fan of 1Password, and got my whole family and several friends onto it but the latest update has been an absolute mess. Several extremely fundamental bugs - editing an item takes you to the wrong page, off by one errors when tapping items on a list, inability to scroll on secure notes, app doesn’t open after update, the list goes on! It hurts to write this because I benefit so much from your product but it has got to a point where I think your organization needs to pause on feature additions and focus on bringing the performance up to the native app experience across all platforms on 1Password 7. Deeply dissatisfied and have downgraded to 1Password 7 to wait it out. Not interested in doing quality assurance on such a critical application.

I paid for the app but I no longer allows me to update items. I paid for the app version of this service (not the subscription) years ago. Recently I did a trial of the newer subscription service and it was an awful experience. Now all of my data is locked, and support doesn’t help. Not slow - they will not help. They send you outdated information on how to recover an older account that has broken logic and obviously meant to kick you out of their ecosystem. NEVER accept a subscription offer. Just use a different system! It’s not worth it.

Useful and Useless. Since the updates, secure notes cannot be updated properly anymore. It doesn't seem to matter what text size I have on my iPhone, but I try to add a new item to a particular note and it takes me somewhere further down the page and I cannot scroll up. This means I cannot edit earlier entries with new information within the same note or take things out that should not be there anymore. For example, I have a note that is specifically for serial numbers and registration numbers for hardware. I might sell a piece of hardware to somebody I need to remove it. I might want to add something made by the same company in the same region of the note and not be able to get to it. Pulling down does not work. It just bounces annoyingly. So it is impossible to edit anything above a certain point.

What on earth were they thinking?. iCloud sync is gone? What? Why? Can’t migrate all data again from 1password7? A GUI that’s a horrible mess? Can’t see passwords or PIN codes on Apple Watch without extra set of taps? I don’t know who approved this version, but please for the love of the gods fire them. This appears to built for the company’s benefit, not for the user’s. Unfortunately, can’t seem to find a way to get back version 7. Textbook screwup of a good product. Sigh. Need to look for a new tool

Great!. This app is great. Really smooth to use, basically seamless. I love the integrated authenticator...that makes this app extra useful. I used Bitwarden for many years, but it was always clunky and hard to use. This app is a breeze in comparison. Top notch.

Fix the race condition on the home screen. The app is decent but it’s been frustrating each time I cold boot it, then home tab shows the empty state with just the customize button. And I have to switch tabs and come back to see my real home screen.

Life changing!. That may sound like an over exaggeration, but quite seriously, moving to 1Password was very straight forward, importing existing passwords from Apple Keychain was seamless. Having now used it for a couple of years and cleaned things up, I am still finding new uses for it every week. It is sooooo much more than a password manager. I now literally use it as my master repository for CLI (Critical Life Information). With its power organization, tagging and categorizing features, it has become a necessity and it literally gets used on an ongoing basis everyday. Well worth the investment.

Serious bugs, slick-but-cumbersome UX. I’m a longtime 1Password customer, and the new app feels like a real step back for UX. They’ve made decent progress on restoring basic IX conventions that were missing from the initial update (like having Search available at the top of screens), but the app is still EXTREMELY buggy. Auto fill is a crap shoot. Sometimes you open the app and it’s totally blank, as if you have no items. And recently, the Safari extension has been staying unlocked and accessible *EVEN AFTER THE DEVICE HAS BEEN LOCKED*, meaning anyone with access to my unlocked iPad has access to my 1Password with no authentication. Absolutely unacceptable. What happened at AgileBits? 1Password 8 has been out way too long to still be this slippery and buggy.

Upgrade to 1password is garbage. Gave 3 different options to upgrade. All failed. Even the QR code scan. What an absolute total waste of time. Now I am stuck with old version probably with security issues. I control out corporate account - guess we may need to move. I have gone from #1 fan to Not a Fan with this total experience. [Update: Turns out my migration issue was caused by an intentional bug that 1Password placed in their software to force people to delete legacy standalone vaults. 1password does not publicize this and is the real reason everyone needs to migrate instead of not simply updating the app.]

Make it clear you’ve removed syncing features. Users who use Dropbox sync, etc should be clearly notified they’ll lose that sync ability when moving to this version. In that sense this is a downgrade and a bad user experience for your oldest customers.

Awesome, this app is a game changer!. Love this app. After using it for a couple of months I gladly got rid of my little black book of passwords. It’s so easy to set up and friendly to use. I need to find a hobby to fill the void for time saved changing passwords for everything I use on my devices. Imagine, only 1 password to remember for access and everything is at your fingertips. I wish I could give you 10 stars for the peace of mind I have when using my devices. Thank you!

Love the product…. Just switched providers, love the product, app crashing on iPad version fixed with last update.

Not a fan of the new version 🫤. As a long-time user of 1Password, I dislike 1Password 8. It's the first upgrade I haven't liked. It brought some UI refinements, and Face ID works better, but the app feels less at home on iOS. It also doesn't have a companion Watch app, and it occasionally asks for the Master password (whereas 1Password 7 had an option to never prompt for it so long as Face ID authentication didn't fail). The UX overall disappoints me. It seems like a regression rather than a progression.

I regret nothing. Secure, convenient, and they’re always improving stuff. I’ve used 1Password for 2 years. It’s a bit of a pain to set up because you need to enter all your passwords (and probably change them!). Once that’s done you’re golden. This app gives me peace of mind 👌

The Best. Still the best password manager for me for 4 years and counting. People like to make a fuss over subscriptions and Mac apps but in the end, 1Password is still one of the absolute best apps on my devices.

Bring back local vaults!. This app is going downhill, we need a stock replacement, local and easy to trust and access.

Terrible update. Download a new app because they’re forcing subscriptions, have tons of venture funding pressure, and want to make a clunky/slow hybrid web app for all platforms? No thanks.

Just a shell of what it used to be.. See title. 1P used to be a bright shining star in Canadian software engineering. Now it’s just corporate greed suing cross platform tools to deliver a subpar user experience with missing features that it actually had for years before. 👎

Love the app. After 20 years using Password Plus I spent months looking for an alternative when they stopped support. I finally selected 1Password, the features were far superior and the support I received during my research was excellent. Each time I use it I am reinforced of my good decision.

Best password manager!. I’ve been using it for several years now and it keeps getting better all the time. The updates are timely and current with the latest privacy and security trends. In the IOS and MacOS ecosystem, It’s been reliable and a trusted daily tool for all my personal and work information. I just migrated from the .com to the .ca servers and found the process to be easy and quick. Highly recommend it!

Terrible last few updates. Still opens the wrong item when I click Edit, while in the item I want to edit! Both iPad and iPhone are up to date. Fix this.

Great app. Literally the best password manager. They keep updating it with new features and it works well. I'm tired of the negative reviews because of the new subscription requirement! This is a service that is constantly evolving so they need consistent revenue! It's literally a couple bucks a month.

FaceID not working. 1Password 7 was great, but 8 is glitchy. When I asked support about it, they simply said that FaceID was a known issue and a fix was coming along the way. It’s been 8 months and people have complained and still nothing and no update while my subscription is running. FaceID is a tablestakes feature and if you can’t even get that right, it makes the rest of the app completely unusable. This is a good corporate lesson that it’s better not to fix what’s not broken. Edit: the developer response to my review didn’t provide any new information. Just that a fix is coming at some point within the next year, which is something we already knew. A timeline would’ve been helpful.

iOS app is horrible. Just switched back to 1Password after a few years. The mac app is fine, but what’s up with the iOS app? Bugs: 1. Every time I type a letter in the search field, it loses focus. I have type a letter, select the field, type a letter, etc. 2. The various edit, three dot buttons randomly disappear from the entry I’m looking at. I have to navigate to another password then back again to edit an item. Wish List: 1. When searching, it finds the items I’m looking for, but it doesn’t filter the list to just those items. 2. I’m cleaning up years of passwords, I’d love to be able to merge entries. 3. I always have to confirm a deletion (although I can tell it to no longer confirm archives).

Simplement pratique.

Love it. Ditched LastPass for this after all their breaches. Really enjoying it.

Agree, terrible update. I’ve been using 1Password for just about as long as they’ve been around. I disagree with the new subscription model, but that’s not why I gave it 1 star. The upgrade experience from version 7 to 8 is the worst upgrade I’ve ever seen, since using various computing devices since the 1980’s. Essentially I’ve now given up and continue to use 1Password7 because the new version can’t find or import all of my data. Complete fail by their software “engineers”.

The best password manager around. The app is beautiful, and works flawlessly. Everything syncs between all my devices perfectly. The browser extension is awesome and makes my mobile experience identical to on my desktop (though, the pop up can be a bit selective on when it wants to appear sometimes). Migration from 1Password 7 to 8 was as easy as simply logging in again—I have no idea what those 1-star reviews are talking about

Finally, FaceID is fixed!. Finally, after months and months of a broken app, FaceID is fixed and the app is working properly. Now please don’t ever touch it again, good job guys and I’m happy to be back! Thanks to all the developers for your hard work!

No cloud vaults?!. Really. No vaults?

1Password 8 is bad compared to 7. I’ve used 1Password for a long time (I have 4 different 1Password apps just on iOS!). I’ve never been so disappointed moving from 7 to 8. Passwords failing to fill, editing dialogs opening up the wrong password entry, all sorts of UI flickering and non native dialogs. I gave 8 a good 3 months and I’m done with it. I went back to 7 and everything is way more reliable. I hope 8 can get better but it might be time to start looking at a different password manager.

What happened to this app?. Having been a user since the first versions, and having continued to use and support this app over the years, I can no longer recommend Mac/iOS users this app anymore. It has become another horrific cross-platform mess that targets the worst aspects of the worst platforms. The move AWAY from providing a native version is a blow to all of us. Wasn’t it the Mac community that made this app be what it is today? While I understand the business incentive to go cross platforms, are you so lazy as developers to not build a native version for your platforms, especially the ones that made you? 1Password became the app of choice because of its Mac centric UI design and approach. More importantly, it worked flawlessly and fast on Macs and iOS devices. As each version came, it has become apparent the focus on usability has been thrown out for profit. There was no need for new UI and icons. The changes now made this app just like any other forgettable web app that works everywhere but not work well nowhere. It is sad to say this app is no longer. It has given up the pursuit for quality over quantity. I will be moving away at the first opportunity.

App thinks FaceID is disabled. It proceeds to open the preference pane and show me the Settings>1Password>FaceID toggle which is already on.

Worse and worse. No ICloud! Mandatory subscription fee? So I pay you $4 a month so I can access my passwords and if I don’t pay I no longer have access to them? They are MY passwords! Unacceptable. NO SALE. I loved this app. Since day one, always bought my updates. Now it appears someone Has bought them and is monetizing it into the ground. Well it was a nice ride.

Terrible. 1Password 7 was better. I hate the new version. Why change something that was efficient and simple?

App works fine with many little problems. The workflow of searching, editing items from the search results, deleting items shown by search results and returning to the search results - are littered with irritating little bugs. These bugs are embarrassingly easy to find.

Pour vous encourager. Félicitations pour votre belle application je les downloader alors ça veut dire que je suis satisfait merci beaucoup au revoir à plus bonne semaine à vous deux Rene Viau de Rene Viau

I miss the old 1Password :(. It used to be one of the few 5 star apps I had for the past 10 years or so. But it’s getting worse with each update! I hope sooner or later Apple makes a proper password manager to replace this nightmare.

UI issues in new release. The most recent release limits the user’s ability to do simple operations such as pasting information into a field. It seems as if they have made a commitment to a fixed sequence of actions that all users must take under all circumstances. This poor UI design drastically limits the utility as well as usability of the software. I’ve been a subscriber for many years now, but this makes me want to look for alternatives.

Brilliant App. I’ve been reading some rather negative 1Password reviews here in the App Store but it seems to me that many of these reviews reveal more about the reviewer than they do the app, and their overt negativity doesn’t align with my experience (and I’ve been using this app for years). Our family uses 1Password on an iMac, a MacBook Pro, and various iPads and iPhones. It works. There is no way that we would be as secure online if we didn’t use a password manager and given the recent security breaches in competitors, our confidence in 1Password seems well place. This is a MUST HAVE app!

Good Workflow and Face ID Fixed. Nice improvements from 1Password 7 such as one tap to copy the password. FaceID is fixed on the latest version of iOS 16 as of 2023-02-15.

Horrible prices.. You have to pay a ridiculous fee to enter at all

A completely buggy mess.. A massive fall from grace for a once gold standard application. Going back to 1Password 7 until further notice. Truly embarrassing for AgileBits.

Why create a new app when the old one is perfectly fine?. The old app worked perfectly fine. Why is there a new app? Why should I have to set up the app all over again? This is too much of a hassle.

Horrible. I can't believe they still have to fix the chrome extension from not saving logins I've complained in the past and no one has done anything about it I'm really really disappointed and I regret moving to one password

Version 8 is not great. Like any app ported to Electron, 1Password 8 is a massive step backwards from the previous NATIVE version. FaceID on iPadOS is constantly crashing 1Password, to a point where the app fails to open until the device is rebooted. Super convenient. WatchTower is also a source of many crashes. The new interface is extremely disorganized and confusing compared to the previous version. Correction, it’s a complete mess. Your customer base pushed back hard on the move to Electron, all the problems plaguing 1Password 8 are a result of not listening.

Slay!. I am having the best password management experience so far after 1 year of using. I like that app futures OTP auto fill and good UI. I can organize my password easily with this app. I see a lot folks had bad experience when they changed device and too late notice get locked out. Shish that's super frustrating!! Surely remember to note your credentials when you changing device

Having the same edit popup issues as others. Like the other reviews have been saying, the app will randomly pull up a password entry to be edited even though I just opened the app. Then I have to close it out and say “discard changes” even though all I did was open the app. This has been a persisting issue for a while now. It’s still an issue after 8.10.4. If it helps any, when the entry pops up and I click save and fill, it crashes the app. Hopefully it gets fixed. This is a good password managing app otherwise - it gets the job done

Terrible. 1Password gets worse and worse. Version 8 no longer supports vaults, so you now have to pay them a monthly fee forever. They no longer have a native app, now they have a terrible electron app. They don't support vaults anymore, so you can't keep your passwords yourself, you have to give 1Password control over them. Migrating your data to 1Password 8 deletes it from 1Password 7, so you can't keep your own data anymore. Google is depreciating Manifest V2, so now they're going to break the Firefox extension just because they can. And you have to pay them forever in return for making their service considerably worse. Avoid!!!

Another long time user that is leaving. I've used 1P for years and would happily pay for every update, but a subscription for this kind of app is entirely unacceptable. Especially for what is a watered down version that misses a ton of features from the old version. The AB devs don't get it. They never will. They don't want to understand why people are upset. They are hoping to coast on their previous reputation. Leave 1P and never look back. I'm going to BitWarden. EDIT: to respond to the dev comments: we get it, you did these changes because they were better for *you*, but you made things worse for your customers. UPDATE: still garbage.

Small problem. I loved using 1Password on all my devices. I have a small problem I don’t know if it is my fault or not. When I open the app loading goes to items screen making me pick vault every time instead of automatically opening my vault with my passwords. Then, once opened the search bar is always hidden. Search bar used to be open there in plain sight before. It annoyed me so much 1Password is no longer my main app anymore. I have another one without this issue. This is my review.

A Safe Vault - An Intuitive App Design. Been using 1Password for years. I have every online password, my identity info, and my credit cards all stored on it. I’ve never had a problem accessing, using, or editing any information…nor have I had a single reason to be concerned about security or privacy. Regardless of your experience level, you will quickly master navigating and using this app. Adding/changing passwords, setting up auto-fill, sharing across multiple devices…it’s all simple and safe. Highly recommend.

V8 went backwards. I have loved 1Password, but version 8 of the iOS app has gone backward. The UI is less than ideal, and feels like a downgrade rather than being an upgrade. For instance, can hardly find the categories that were at your fingertips in version 7 (like credit cards and notes). Looks like there’s other things that I’ll be regretting soon as I use version 8 more. I’m regretting upgrading from 7 but didn’t really want to be using old software for something critical like this. 1Password, PLEASE listen to your customers! You have had a great product. Just give it back to us, as we were happy before! Thanks!

Safe and easy. I’ve been using 1 Password for several years for my office and personal passwords. I actually keep password for the complete family members….. I have the application on the laptop and synchronize with my iPhone. It works very good and it’s being a confident application. I would definitely recommend it due to all the passwords and confidential information we nowadays have for credit cards, bank accounts, all around passwords.

Ex-LastPass user. Have used lastpass for a few years and got sick of the breeches and lack of trust. My company deals in security and started using 1Password so I decided to give it a try. The discounts are decent if you look around a bit and appears to have great transparency. The app is feels much snappier than LastPass and I like the addition of a key separate from a password so that if they were ever breeched, then two things would be needed to break into any stolen databases. They also support 2fa so that’s great also. So far, very happy.

Buggy waste of time. I began a trial of 1Password and imported my items from LastPass, which worked fine. I then spent several hours organizing my items into vaults and tags. After hours of organizing, an error message was displayed indicating a sync error, saying that over 100 items were having trouble syncing. I contacted 1Password support (which has a slow response time btw) and was advised that I need to go through every item, review the contents of each item and compare with what is displayed in the 1Password web portal to ensure all my data is accounted for, and only after confirming I have done so will they advise me on how to clear the error message. Sorry, but I’m not going to pay for a 1Password subscription just to be told I have to waste my time reviewing 117 items one by one due to their software bug. Which it sounds like a lot of users experience. I’m taking my business elsewhere. If anything, 1Password should pay me for my wasted time. Stay away from this buggy product.

Migrated from LastPass!. After being with LastPass for over a decade, I finally made the switch after the countless hacks. Glad I did, 1Password is more modern, faster, easier to use. I love that the OTP is all in one app and I can even scan QR codes right from the browser, in mobile or desktop. 1Password is simply amazing. I hope that with version 8 (they moved to cloud now) they don’t get hacked like LastPass, although it is already safer since we use a secret key and a master password. Thank you 1Password for making a great product!

Best and most important app in my life. I basically rely on this app everyday multiple times a day. I feel safer on the web knowing my passwords are managed with a password manager and this one is the best. I also use this app to hold lots of other important documents (like receipts for my prescriptions, and other important bills). This app makes it easy to have difficult and random passwords and not having to think about it. I use it in both MacOS and iOS. At this point I don’t know what I’d do without it.

Updated - I like it. Updated response after getting a response from the developer. I had to update auto fill via the settings, oops. Didn’t know that existed. Anyway, I dinged them one star because I don’t have Face ID enabled and NOT having the option to put in my numeric phone password that will grant me access is a bummer. UPDATE: so how do you upgrade to a family plan!? The instructions on the site + phone are not valid. I refuse to type all of my troubleshooting steps because I’ve already wasted 30min attempting to upgrade my existing subscription to family.

Not syncing - terrible support. I have had 1pw since 2007 used to work perfectly then they changed something and without informing me they changed where my passwords were stored. It no longer stored on Dropbox for my Mac and in its place is storrednon the 1pw server. But my phone on the same account kept stirring on Dropbox. I kept getting error messages stating that my pw was wrong or missing so I would create a new one. Now I have 2 databases not synchronized and I’m only able to access my accounts 1/2 the time depending on where the pw was created (phone or Mac) I contacted support and dozen times, got generic responses until I finally got cathrine f who got me to run diagnostics, then something about sorting and trying to compare to see what has what… I am still lost with non synchronized data. I’m going to have to dedicate a weekend to painstakingly try each pw to see which ones are the latest versions and delete the rest. Huge headache by a greedy company that put profits over customer experience. All in all I am going to ditch this once loved service and go Apple native.

Frustrated by switch from 7 to 8. * New home screen provides fewer paths to what I need. “Items” isn’t a thing — If the category is that generic, it’s not meaningful. Why not put it on the home screen? * iOS Safari integration doesn’t always work — fails to provide a login suggestion off and on. * Much more difficult to tell which vault I’m in. I care about that much more than the family account I’m in, since I only have one of those. * Should default to save new in Private vault. * I can no longer see my password history in the app. This matters when I’m trying to update passwords and it asks for current and new password. Very frustrating. I moved my parents to using 1Password after the LastPass debacle. I don’t regret it, but they are even more confused than I am. Version 7 made more sense to them. Did you user test 8 with a range of people, including people who aren’t app whizzes? Labels and navigation are very confusing, even for an advocate like me.

What makes a password manager trustworthy?. We’ve seen breaches of security for many password managers in the past, none are immune to this but how they respond is what matters…. LastPass was the most recent unfortunate victim during which time I was a customer. While I watched the breach play out from not just one incident but two, I made the decision to switch. While 1Password has yet to fall victim to a breach, the likelihood of that happening is not zero but I trust the group at 1Password and their regulatory compliance obligations until they give me a reason not to.

Glitch locked me out of account. I moved all my passwords to apple keychain this week. While trying to change my master password with 1Password’s password generator function it didn’t save the generated password, now I am permanently locked out of my account. The app has been buggy since the beginning, not saving passwords directly and then losing them. I’m not logged in to the desktop so I cannot check password generations. If the app just worked better, I’d give 1Password 5 stars. But the hassle it is having me go through with creating a new account with a new email address and billing information, as I can’t use the apple subscription with a new account, is having me die inside.

still the best!. been using 1Password for over a decade, and still can’t see myself using anything else. even when i ran into a “quirk” or two with the app—it happens to the best of us—the support team was always quick with a resolution. you can always tell when the employees of a company actually use—and care about—the products they put into the world, and 1P is one of those companies.

1Password 7 Disappeared and had to get 8. I can see why 8 is worse than 7. There are many apps that I use that aren’t automatically noticed by 1P8, so no autofill- which is fine, but the fact that it DEFAULTS to a blank page of Suggestions instead of Favorites like 1P7 is actually so atrocious. My logins work fine on browsers but not physical apps, which is annoying. I tried contacting 1Password on the 22nd, but no response. It’s quite the lovely experience knowing that this is the worse rated app compared to 1P7, Last Pass and NordPass. I might have to switch over even though I paid my yearly subscription recently.

Have to input password every 2 weeks. I cannot stand having to input my master password every 2 weeks. I don’t remember it. And of course it always come up when I’m not home to look it up. I basically paid to not use this app. Also almost all of my password entries have been duplicated or ported over wrong so I also basically reset every one of may passwords when I started using. It also has a habit of accepting the new password too quickly and somehow not saving all the information?Everyone seems to love this product and maybe the problem is that I switched from another product that ruined my experience but it has so far been very disappointing.

Buggy. Can’t print. The website for their support says that you can switch from an individual account to a family account right on their website, but this is not possible. Their support answers were also incorrect. Update: I am increasing my rating because support did respond to my complaint about their website not being correctly updated regarding the upgrade to the family plan from an individual account. However, the fact that you cannot print an individual entry is still an important feature that is missing.

I switched to 1Password and glad I did!. I have been using another password manager for years but it was lacking in a few areas. After their security breach I thought it was time for a change. It has been a smooth transition and I am most pleased with the change. It has added features that makes logging so much easier. I would highly recommend it.

So frustrating. What you’d think would be a simple app to use is just soooo frustrating to use. It’s incredibly buggy. Like it won’t let me type in the app sometimes. Also when so open the app it’s asking me to save and fill some random information and I have no idea why. Either so have to save and hope it’s the right password or discard changes maybe messing up the PW. I opted to pay in order not to be incredibly frustrated and it has just added to my frustration. Browser integration you ask? It’s window is obscured by Safari PW suggestions. It’s a total mess. Will probably just go back to my note taking app to reduce my blood pressure.

Part of my security arsenal. Compared to the other password managers I’ve attempted to use this one is borderline genius. The moment I visited my GitHub account and it suggested creating and keeping my SSH keys for me I knew this was a keeper. I’m able to protect my vault with my hardware keys on my MacBook and that is soon being implemented on the iPhone app as well. It provides two FA on the iPhone. I can use 2FA for now. I’ve had complete disasters with other passer managers that’s caused me severe issues. This one is the best experience so far.

Great app. Using it still after all this time…. Great app. Been using it for quite a long time and still love it. The only thing that I would like to do is be able to import my own icons. Maybe there’s a way to do it, but haven’t figured it out yet. Other than that. It does what it’s supposed to do. Would be nice if it only cost $1.99 instead of $2.99 per month. Again great app!

Great tool. I moved to 1Password because of the data breaches that LastLass has experienced. Pretty scary that the company you trust can get hacked and leak all of your passwords. 1Password already seems a lot more secure. It is much easier to use than LastPass. The app on my iPhone and my Macs is very fast and more functional than LastPass. The import of my LastPass data was extremely easy and thorough. So far I am very happy with the move!

1Password and iPad Pro. I want a smooth fix for 1password cohabitation on an iPad Pro. Such desire is far-flung and will never work with that 8.0 upgrade. It worked several times, but its login gateway is cumbersome and unworkable. Unless the user is unaware of having to install and re-install, that takes several days of frustrating trial and error. Placing the app is easy, but getting it to work is worthless. Never mind, customer service is the worst, nearly watching paint dry. It is irritating having to pay for something that does not function. The app works on my desktop. Why is it difficult to not function on a tablet? Once more, the app needs work corrections for use on the iPad tablet for which I speak. I will save my two bits until it is ready for primetime.

Confusing!. Am I the only one that finds this app one of the most incredibly confusing apps I’ve ever encountered! I’ve been usin LastPass but looking for alternative. It was highly recommended but I hate it so much. I am stuck somewhere called Family but I don’t have a Family so I tried to make an alrrnative but I don’t know what Home is or why I am Family or what a vault is or just how to USE the system. I don’t know where to check or what to change because I don’t understand any of the terms and I don’t even understand where my passwords will be saved. Just from beginning to end it is impossible! I am so disappointed. I will go back to LastPass unless I can find some CLEAR User Guide.

Good password manager, but app needs work. Been using 1Password for several years since 5(6). And with 8, I don't like all the most. A side from obvious bugs like not able to edit notes longer then 20 lines, I'm annoyed with "smarty" feature of app. I don't want to know my recent used, I don't want to auto open last item I've used. If someone is liking that, sure keep it. But let me turn things off - auto navigation on open, recent etc ! I want quick password management, not useless to me last item. if I want quick things, I'll use favorites.

Newbie - On The Fence. I’ve only been using 1Password for a week, had to runaway from LP, and it’s been interesting to get used to it. I don’t think of myself as technology challenged, so most of it is easy to use. The app however leaves a lot to be desired on my iPad. You’re supposed to remember a unique ID and constantly be asked to log in. Just give us a PIN, it’d be easier. Or face recognition. Logging in via my iPad is a real pain because the iPad doesn’t work well with fingerprints. 😒 So at the moment I’m only giving it 3 stars. We live on our mobile devices, you’d think the app would be designed around that fact.

Great choice, I’ve tried the others. If you don’t like Norton and are tired of hearing about LastPass breaches, this is a great choice. The new interface is easier to use, and you’ll feel like your passwords are secure. Please, please print out your Emergency Kit, you’ll need it several times during set up. The email tech support is very helpful and responsive. No phone support as far as I can tell. That’s probably for the best.

Have been using 1Password for many many years, and it has always been excellent.. I have zero complaints, support has always been excellent. Working with a major software for 20 years before retiring. From that experience, I know, when you take a big step forward you have some rough times to get over. A lot of the complaints is from people seeing the minutia instead of the big picture. All the growing pains have been resolved and then some….High Five for 1Password!!!

1 problem. Maybe I’m the only one with this problem but adding a new login every time I’m done with that process and I hit done it immediately opens up adding another login with my email alreaady filled out and when I cancel it does save my original login i really want to like this app but idk I might delete it and download it again Update: This glitch only happens if it’s a password that you already have doesn’t happen if you’re generating a new password

Change it back. If it wasn’t broke in the first place, leave it alone. I liked the old version of 1 PW. It was a lot easier to use. Now it is difficult to find anything because it’s not intuitive; the icons don’t make sense, and when I log in to sites, I sometimes get a screen on 1PW with suggestions of logins that have nothing to do with the site I am logging into. I don’t know where to go to find the login information I need and I end up getting logged out of 1PW again. Having to log back in several times is annoying, especially when facial recognition doesn’t work half the time. Why did you change something that wasn’t broke in the first place?!

Everything alright?, why the app is so buggy.. I've been using 1Password for a while now and it has been great. However, recently I've been experiencing some UI issues that are making it difficult to use. The app used to work beautifully, but now it seems like there are some problems. It's taking longer to respond and sometimes it freezes. Other times just auto opens to a password. It's frustrating when you need to access your passwords quickly and can't because of the issues. I hope the developers can fix the issues soon so I can continue using the app without any problems.

1Password is a Must Have. I have found 1Password to be a must have application for me. I take the security of my many application/financial accounts very seriously and 1Password enables me to have passwords that are extremely difficult to guess. I can keep all kinds of records/information locked up in my 1Password vault that I can pull up later. Looking ahead to a new era of Passkeys in Mac usage, I foresee that 1Password will continue to be an indispensable application in the protection of my most personal information.

1Password has become less and less of a joy to use. 1Password has really gone down the drain on reliability with the 1Password 8, especially on the Mac. While I do love 1Password, I’ll be the first to say that as soon as Apple makes a standalone password app for Keychain, I will likely switch to that. 1Password is a necessary app for me, but the ease of use has gone down. The browser extensions are unreliable and buggy, and the apps just aren’t as intuitive, fast, or easy to use anymore. There just aren’t any better options out there really. Which is unfortunate when I give this app 3 stars and what that says about password managers nowadays.

Subscription through Apple bugged, terrible customer service. 1P “upgraded” my subscription to 1Password 8. I have a subscription through Apple. Never had any issues with any other Apple subscription. Last week the 1P app tells me my account is frozen. Can’t use auto fill on any device, can’t edit or add passwords. My subscription with Apple says that it’s current and that if I cancel today, I’d have it for another month. I cancelled. The customer service is terrible— when asked what was going on, I was told that this was a known issue and that to solve it I’d need to unsubscribe, wait for the subscription to “unlock”, then resubscribe. What? This sounds like a scam. Go elsewhere.

Critical bug - otherwise great. 1Password is a great service and an essential part of my workflow. But some recent updates basically ruined the app because now, when I try to log into another account (eg my work account), the keyboard covers up the place where I could write the password and thus it’s impossible to log in. This makes the app basically unusable to me. Please fix! Update - you can get around the bug by dragging the screen first down then up.

Constant Bugs — New Users Look Elsewhere. I’ve used 1Password for around a decade now. I’ve always happily paid for the apps and later, the subscriptions. I don’t know what’s happened lately but ever since Version 8 was released the product has become unusable for power users. BUGS BUGS and more BUGS that are never fixed. As other users have stated, there are many many many problems with this release but the most annoying for us longtime users is that Search is broken and has been since version 8 was released. WHY ON EARRH CAN’T YOU FIX IT. WE NEED A PERMANENTLY PRESENT SEARCH FIELD THAT DOESN’T DISAPPEAR AND MYSTERIOUSLY BRING UP A RANDOM RECORDS. YOU HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS BUG FOE MONTHS (I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED IT TO YOUR DEVELOPMENT TEAM). WHY ON EARTH DON’T YOU JIST FIX IT BACK TO HOW IT WORKED IN VERSION 7 ???? New users, if you’re looking for a reliable password manager, check out BitDefender. It really works, is secure and easy to use and is about ⅓ the price of 1Password. I used to love 1Password but now I’m migrating to BitDefender.

The Best After All. Say what you want about 1Password, it really is the overall best password manager for macOS & iOS. Beyond passwords, the app is capable of managing all types of information seamlessly & securely. Is it perfect? No. But I have spent the last year trying almost all the other password managers — and now I’m back to 1Password for good. While 1Password works seamlessly, I could never get even one of the others to perform reliably. I’ve learned my lesson. 1Password was the first password manager I ever used — and it will be the last. The grass is definitely not greener on the other side.

Keeps passwords away from me. I like how the app functions once I’m inside it. However, for people like me who are generally forgetful, I can’t remember my main password and I frequently get locked out until I fumble around for a half hour. I have my secret key. It would be helpful if I could use the secret key to at least reset my main password. I can’t do either on the app or the web. I understand the importance of security. The website requires both your password and the secret key to enter my account, if I’m trying to retrieve it. What sense does that make? It would be nice if I could do one or the other. I don’t want to delete my account, because then I need a new email to register, which I don’t have.

Agree with 3 star reviews. I am in agreement with other 3 star reviews that like myself, have used this app for many years only to be disappointed by 1password 8. The app certainly does change to a different entry than where you left it. It’ll cause problems. I’m at the point of only editing entries on my laptop, because the iPad app is glitchy. Also, the interface on 8 isn’t as intuitive and you wind up searching for the logins rather than browsing. App support should have enough bug reports by now to correct these errors and start moving 1password 9 back to the right direction.

Fantastic app. This team deserves a round of applause for one of the most functional and necessary apps you can get for your phone (and computer!). They have continually innovated and made it easier to use while adding feature after feature. There’s really no excuse for not securing your accounts these days because 1pass makes it about as seamless as you can get. Well done.

From the pinnacle to mediocre at best. 1Password 8 is still full of bugs and usability issues. It’s so incredibly sad. This used to be one of the best examples of an excellent iOS app, but they’ve traded that in for consistent mediocrity across platforms. Great for them to have a unified codebase as a company, but the customers have lost. I’m stuck with them for now as I use the Family plan and I’ve not found anything comparable, but the optimism I once had for v8 to be at least as good, if not better, than the previous versions has really waned. A tragedy. I hope I can find a new company focused on the individual customer like 1Password once was. I don’t want “enterprise” software (the gold they’ve set their eyes upon). I want good software.

Frustrated. I had to cancel my original account and sign up again later the same day. The website accepted and logged me in using my previous email address. Gave me a new Security Key and new Password. However, the app will not allow me to sign in. Says “Account is closed.” It is working fine on the website. Getting help through support via email is tough. They need a messenger. Email responses take troubling g. Ideally, they would have benumbed to call to speak with a person who walk customers through correcting any issues. Disappointing.

new v.8 problems on top of the old ones!. Update, 6/7/23: well they got around to fixing the broken Apple Watch thing, but the latest update, a week ago, is even crazier. Now it's impossible to create your own new passwords because the app will not accept text in the password field – as other recent reviewers have noted. One step forward, two steps back, all over again. First, for some reason they thought it would be a good idea to eliminate their Apple Watch app. If you weren't using it, you should - in version 7, which still supports it. Beyond that, changes are at best cosmetic, and require work to make a usable setup. I regret giving in to their repeated invitations to "upgrade."

No longer in their prime. I’ve been with 1Passwords since early version 7, and bought it when it was just a one time purchase. I’m certain 8 is just a way to get everyone off version 7 so we can get their subscription service. I don’t agree with it, but I’d be able to tolerate it… if it weren’t for all the bugs. I’m still only on the trial phase, but I don’t think I’ll be staying for long. It’s a shame. I really liked 1Password and appreciated it when it was just version 7, but this upgrade is more of a downgrade than anything.

Another user leaves unhappy. Did not like new subscription based model so I decided not to purchase subscription. The developer has conveniently frozen my app for this and has thus demanded I subscribe to unlock the my app and make it usable again. I will not purchase the subscription and the app is deleted. So please take your app, your subscription demand and shove them both deep into the place where you have your head deposited. Here is my little freeze back. Another 1 star review for an app that was once my go to when I purchased it back in the day. So as a final goodbye, enjoy your one star review deleted app and won’t be seeing a

Subpar compared to 1p7. I’ve enabled autofill in 1p8. I’ve selected it as the provider. For the life of me I can’t get it to show its suggestions on the keyboard for apps that do indeed have correctly configure associated domains (I can see “suggested for” in the popup). Why can 1p7 suggest in the keyboard but the supposedly more modern 1p8 can’t? Disappointing. I fortunately never deleted 1p7, so I’ll continue using that I guess. Edit: I can see Agilebits responds with its usual “contact support” response. Their app is actually just a half baked bad idea of rebuilding a quarter of the actually good old app. Support isn’t going to save them. For the love of god y’all, just choose another app.
