Weather warnings. I appreciate the severe warnings when I need to gather my dogs and hunker down in my safe place. Even if the power goes out, I can still see the radar and hear when danger is near on my phone. Our weather people are really on top of the forecast. Thank you so much.

Current news is a little slower.. I feel like I get updates and alerts from Fox 59 quite a bit sooner than WTHR. Also, I know a lot of issues have dominated, but it would help if you inserted a happy or pleasant news story also. I grew up watching the news and told how important it was to keep up with current events. But now it is so depressing, I find myself turning the news off, except for weather as it is so violent and depressing. Nothing is happy or uplifting which would also be nice to hear. I personally feel the negativity of stories is making things more heated and worse. Maybe report an issue and don’t put so much attention to all the negative do maybe the hatred and violence will die down. Sorry for me being so negative myself, but your news topics and presentation has changed so much in the last couple of years. I hate to see this and hope some happiness and pleasantries can be added soon.

Leaving WTHR behind. Latest update: Still awful. The UI is horribly cluttered with ads, the pages don’t scroll well and are jumpy with the ads trying to load as you scroll, and it still just looks awful. This new app is horrendous. When you scroll, there is little differentiation between stories and clickbait ads. The various channels that were in the old app are gone unless you scroll to the bottom, which is no good. Such a downgrade from the last app, so I won’t be surprised if they see users stop getting their news here based purely on the app alone.

The Best Anchors In Indy. I Love WTHR 13 as my all time fave News, Weather, Sports and I LOVE Julia Former Miss Universe, Miss America, Miss Indiana, Miss Indy, Miss WTHR, However I Do Enjoy Lots Of Anchors Works There Then And Now, Also I Want To Wish Kevin Radar The Best In Future Retirement And Enjoy Your Time And You Been Great With Lots Of Great Experiences You Had, God Bless You All, I’m Watching 13 Now Since 5:00. Tragically disappointed. I’m so disappointed with this new update app!! The previous version had a great traffic tool where you could see traffic issues, zoom in on areas of considered travel, and plan accordingly. Now they’ve tethered any other app into the traffic and it’s not nearly as good and usable as before. Another challenge I have is finding things. Previous app you quickly found where you wanted to go on the main page and it opened up. Now you scroll looking for what you hope to find. I’ve yet to find the “Live” TV box! Epic fail by the developer and the station for releasing such a bad tool. I’ll be using another Indy station app until WTHR gets with the program and creates an easy to navigate app. So so so disappointed

Update Ruined This App. The previous version had an issue with alerts. I could click on the alert and go straight to the story, but if I didn’t click on the alert right away I could never find the story. The new update is even worse. I get an alert and when I click on it I’m redirected to the app that never loads. Never. I don’t even bother looking at the rest of the app as I use this primarily for breaking news updates. Without access to those, this app is useless.

Horrible mobile site. Navigation is not intuitive. Weather is hard to find what you are looking for. Each redesign has resulted in worse user experience. If you are field testing with real users, you are asking the wrong people.

New 13 App. Not a fan of this app. Where are the sports? I must of missed it going thru the pages of stories. Not located at the bottom of my screen like the weather. Also not sure what favorited means. Not in my dictionary. Must mean “favorite”. Need to check your spelling and try using this app before releasing it.

Disappointed - do UX testing. Well shoot. WTHR is by far my favorite news channel. But your app doesn’t live up in quality. I submitted multiple reviews for the last app saying I hated getting an alert about a live, breaking news conference only to then be forced to sit thru a 15 second ad before seeing the live stream (plus sometimes the ad was highly inappropriate given the topic of breaking news). By the time I joined, I was about 30 seconds late and missed the “headline statement.” Now, EACH STORY has a 15 sec ad. Come on, man! Plus, gone are the icons leading us to the specific topic we want to know about (traffic, sports, closings, etc.) I’d also add that the click-bait fake news stories are not worth the $$ they give you to be present. I can tell the difference between the stories but will every user? Do you really want them going around saying, “So, WTHR reported that a leading surgeon says we can clean our bowels with 2 simple tricks!!” I assume you’ve already invested in this new developer and can’t go backwards in design. But please - moving forward, do some User Experience testing with your client base to see what WE want, not what helps your bottom line. I’ll keep the app for now to watch for design changes but I certainly won’t be coming here as a routine until then.

Liked the setup of the old app better. I was on the old WTHR app multiple times a day, but the new version seems much less user friendly and hard to find stories. The old app made it simple to click between local, national, entertainment, etc.

Too many ads. Love the content. Easy to navigate. But all the ads make it really frustrating to watch, and even read, the news stories. Pop up after pop up.

New app not as good as old app. My wife and I used to use the old WTHR app for local and national news along with weather and traffic. The new app version is not as good. Seems to be harder to find stories and distinguish between national and local news. But the big loss is traffic. We used the old app traffic map to look for congested traffic all over the country when traveling now it’s just Waze. Bummer.

This is a great. News team. I grew up watching 13 news. And love everything about it and the people are always so happy doing they jobs. You always making my day great. Thank you Nancy southern

🥴😉😎. Not as user friendly as previous app. A little more difficult to navigate but still the same up to date info..

Readability lacking. While the app redesign was a welcome change, one major issue has made this unusable for me. The app does not dynamically change the font size per my phone settings nor are their any in-app settings allowing me to do so. The font is tiny & lettering thin, making it incredibly difficult to read even with bifocals. The news is refreshed appallingly slowly. For days the same article will stay at top of app.

Review on WTHR. I’ve been watching WTHR for about 60 years! I love the crew on the AM shift, the noon crew, and the crew on WTHR evening! All the people are so informative, they know what they’re talking about!! They’ll go the extra mile to inform us about any new issues on a story! Great News, Great Weather, Great Sports News!

Update the apps headlines. I access the WTHR app every day. There is one headline regarding the boy who committed suicide in Louisville that has happen long ago. Is there a reason why it’s still here? When are you ever going to remove the As seen on TV section? It’s been there for years and it’s time to remove it.

Weird, Only App That Can’t Find The Internet. Deleted again. I can look them up on their website. Shame. I would’ve liked the notifications. Everyone I open it, “no internet detected, tap to retry”. I’ve got 3 bars. All my other apps - including Chrome - work.

If you’re going to Rob something Rob a Bank not a candy store. You’re a news, anchors and reporters have historically been the best. Howard Caldwell was a gifted giant in his profession. 2020 WTHR App Review. This App is so much better than the previous version. The information is easy to navigate through, the images are more crisp and the bug that plagued the previous version seems to be fixed.

Need local news. I look to this app for local news. There may be one or two local items but then many stories of incidents n events in other towns which I may start to read n then think WAIT that's not here! Would be MUCH BETTER to carry actual local news and weather with sections for sports, crime, business, etc. Will continue to check back and hope for improvement.

Terrible in first five minutes. App is already locked up on one page and only had it on my phone for five minutes! If this is supposed to be new and improved you need to explain it to me!I guess I’ll have to take it off and start looking at a different news station

Ease of some information.. Traffic would be much better if a user is able to see things in as close to real time. Having only the ability to view your users and their possible comments, does not give someone checking the map a good indication of just say heavy traffic slowdown vs an accident. That info is much more valuable than someone just posting stopped in traffic.

Updated App is Terrible. The new app format is terrible. No written articles, it’s all just videos of clips of the news that have already been broadcast. It also doesn’t open up with the day’s current news (probably because there are no actual articles relaying breaking news, just old video content). Even after trying to refresh 3 times, it’s still showing the news from 3 days ago.

Looks great but it’s not. Interface looks great however if you enjoy reading your news this app stinks. All the serious news stories are hidden between fluff and good-feely junk. Give me top US news, top local news, etc.. Every time you read an article and then go back, you return to the top of the stories list. Every time you scroll through the list of stories and a new ad loads, you are returned to the top of the stories list. It’s so frustrating I’m deleting the app. WTHR used to be my go to news source but I just can’t with this app.

The best thing ever!. Hi! So this is the best app because let’s say that there was a tornado coming but you don’t have just the regular weather app, so then you could download the WTHR show me the weather, for you know what to do, so that’s why I could ever have a load go into the radar app and you are all good to go and that you will know where to go. Channel 13. My review is simple I watch WTHR news and I enjoy the reporting of all stories I especially look forward to Miss Longnecker she has really become part of Indianapolis and I have often wondered why she isn’t in the newsroom as an anchor. Thank you very much Leslie Kingston

Portrait mode? Ugh.. This used to be such a wonderful app, that I read daily on my iPad, in landscape mode. All of a sudden you forced portrait mode on me, with no option to flip it back to landscape like there had been in the past. This isn't how 11 inch iPads are intended to be used. Have you looked at an iPad Air case? A magic keyboard mount? Landscape, landscape, landscape. I guess no more WTHR news for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

WRTV Newscast. I love WRTV and NBC news the only news channel that I watch. Except when AT&T was trying to get under contract. We didn’t have news for a while. I love the evening news Anchor’s. And I am so glad to see Anne Marie back to work. To me you have the best team reporting the News.

Change is Hard. I’ve been using this app for more than 10 years so learning the new layout is frustrating. However, the major bonus is the app does not have Ads every time you watch a video. I think this is a major benefit. App could use some improvements but it’s growing on me.

Kills Battery Life. I installed the new app a few weeks ago. Lately, my iPhone battery has been drained very quickly on an eleven month old phone. Looking at the battery usage in settings, I noticed WTHR app was the culprit: only fifteen minutes of screen time, and 5 hours and 47 minutes of background app refresh. On top of that, the constant jumping and reloading of stories that plagued the old app continue with this one. Seems like advertisements constantly refresh and cause the feed to reload. Hard to tell what is a legitimate WTHR news story and what is inserted-ad clickbait.

New Version Not as Good. I do not care for the new version of the WTHR app. I find the text and layout much less user friendly. I can’t find things easily (not that I always could on the previous app either), but this one seems even worse. There is too much white background, making it hard to see where articles begin and end. There are slight improvements to the weather section with the main forecast now being at the top (thank you). However, today when I click on notifications, the app won’t even open. It’s stuck on its initial blue loading screen. Not my favorite update.

Not A Fan of the New Update. The app is not well organized. The original map had everything visible and easy to find. I’m most disappointed with the travel section. I used that part of the app all the time locally and when traveling.

Where are the topics/categories?. What in the world lead you to redesign your app in this way? I would fire the app designers immediately. My mom updated first and said she couldn’t find news topics and I thought she just needed some help. Nope - you actually took them out. No problem - I’ll just search the issue I’m interested in. Nope - you took that out too. Channel 13 used to be my go to for news on my phone but I am deleting the app now. Let me know when you bring back an app that allows me to choose what I want to see.

Do you guys use your own app? Horrible. Folks, I didn’t think it could get worse. As you scroll it repeats articles, just terrible. Come on, please resolve your issues. News wise you’re always top notch, but this app forces me to go elsewhere. And once I leave, I may not come back. Please please please help. Eat your own dog food, and run your own app and pretend as if it’s the only news feed you will read. Within minutes you’ll stop using your own app. Sad. Technology is usually an enabler, in this case it’s ruining your brand.

Sorry but after years I’m gone. WTHR has always been my favorite station, nd I e used the old app frequently every day. The new one has no logic to it, too many huge ads spread through the content, and doesn’t do it for so done like me who checks several times daily to catch up on news. I hate to say it but I’m loading another local station’s app so I really can follow Indy news. And why when I am reading news does the tab I do stir at bottom show me in weather? So sorry but too much hassle to dig through.

New updated app is not good. Channel 13 is my go to channel for everything. News. Weather. Traffic. But since the update, I’m finding it more and more difficult every day to go to the app. Gone are the icons that lead me straight to the traffic. And this traffic map - it’s just plain horrible. I want to open up a tab that shows me traffic slowdowns in my area. I don’t want to use two fingers to zoom in or move the map. Go back to what you had! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it??!! 2020 is bad enough already.

All sports articles and videos?. The personalization of categories does not work. I turned off sports, and other categories, and now all I’m seeing are sports articles! I know there’s non sport related news going on. But I can’t find them! In addition, most of the ‘articles’ are all videos. I can’t watch news videos all the time. I prefer the convince of reading the news. For now I have to get my news somewhere else.

Watched for years. I have watched Channel 13 for years and have seen many changes over the years. The weather forecasts are so much better. All of the meteorologists do such a good job. I live in Brownstown in Southern Indiana and enjoy it when they show what is going on in our part of the state.

Great news alerts - fast & accurate!. I live in Maine and was introduced to your APP while following the “Delphi case” in February of 2017. I now follow some National stories and other NBC related items on your app. Easy to use with simple and direct access to content.

Was great. Not so much now.. I have used this app for years. With the latest update it’s difficult to find anything that you’re looking for. It basically only shows the weather and top stories. When I try and find school closings, it’s nearly impossible. There isn’t even a search option anymore. I have since switched to the channel 8 app.

Weather with Angela Buckman. Love Angela Buckman’s forecast she gets right to the point makes it easy to understand and then she doesn’t just drag it out so I can prepare my next week upcoming based on the weather report.

New WTHR app is terrible. I have used the old WTHR app for years and loved it. I hate the new one and will be deleting it. It has far less content. The weather section is minimal and useless now. Where are all the topic areas too? I can’t find local or traffic tabs like the old one. We were traveling on 465 yesterday and came to stopped traffic. My husband was driving f and I got on the app to see what the traffic was due to. Nothing, didn’t see a single thing. Had to go to a different news channel to find any information. Bye bye app!

Prefer old version. I much prefer the old version where there was actual articles to read with an attached video if you wanted to listen. The weather section is practically useless as the daily outlook doesn’t include low temperatures anymore, which is very helpful to know ahead of major cold fronts. Overall poor update, I want the old version back.

2026 WTHR destroys their own app. For years it’s been a tolerable app with too many ad’s, but I realize that is what generates the revenue. However, February 2026 has seen an update to the app that now leads to a ridiculously slow boot time every time the app opens. Breaking news comes through as a push notification, and a click results in up to a half minute of staring at the screen while the app shows a list of Indiana Counties that WTHR serves. I’ve got the latest and best iPhone and Verizon’s best plan, and I no longer have the time or patience to wait for WTHR’s app to get around to sharing the news that they tease in their push notifications. There is no way this is the intended user experience. It’s cold to say it, but heads need to roll over WTHR killing their own online app. If you did this change in-house, then hire someone to fix it. If you farmed this out, then sue the company that did this to your app.

Bad Idea. I have downloaded the app, but every time I try to use it it tells me to download it again which I cannot do because it’s already downloaded. New is not always better, In other words to use the famous quote “ if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Guess I have to go to another channel to get my news. This one is too difficult to maneuver.

App freezes when I click on a notification from my home screen. The app has been helpful until recently when it freezes after clicking on a home screen notification from my iPhone. If I care enough to read the story, I have to close the app then reopen it and search for the story I was notified about and interested enough to click on!

Why I enjoy WTHR 13 news. Weather, National News stories. Indianapolis is getting to dangerous to visit these days. Seems the crime rate and killings are out of hand. We have decided to steer clear of what was once a cool place to visit. Be safe and God bless

Terrible since update. I used to go to WTHR for my local news, but they never update the app for more local updates on stories. No way to look g.for topic specific news like local, economic, business or even local traffic. Getting updates on breaking stories should not take 24 hours! I am so disappointed in the new app. They are more interested in design than content. About to delete it and look for a better app for local news.

Hate the new look. I haven’t used this app much, but so far I liked the old one better. This one is hard to navigate and seems to be similar to social media in how it curates what you see. I want to see it all! Let me decide by clicking what news I want to read. I really hate the new app. I have downloaded an app from a competitor and will be using it for local news and weather instead

The best in Indy if not the country. WTHR is the best. From Dave Calbro to Chuck Lofton! I have always trusted you guys with sports and weather coverage. Especially during the month of May!

Drains battery. I couldn’t figure out why my new iPhone 11 was dying so fast. My tech savvy 10 yr old daughter showed me how to check the battery usage and we found out the channel 13 app was using 78% of my power running in the background. The app was great for local Indy news I just wish they’d figure out the battery issue.

Great content!. App design could use a refresh but, the quality of the journalism wins out!

Why fix what wasn’t broken before??. The old app was so easy to use and had categories to switch back and forth to find articles easier. This new app is atrocious, slow and confusing. Y’all need to flesh the app out and make it easier to use or go back to the old app pronto.

Terrible Update. Had to delete. This update is jumpy, unorganized, and ad heavy. Like so many others have said, this is no improvement. Hard to find categories and to read an article. I used to use for go to news, but am deleting this app and will use Fox 59 instead.

ADS!!. The app is overwhelming with the number of ads. The overall appearance of the interface is messy and horrible to look at. At least offer a paid version if you have to generate revenue from those cheesy mobile games. You are already collecting and selling our data, so how much greedier can you be?

WTHR 13. Some news items have been on this website for several months and even we’ll over one year. News sites from the other local stations are much better.

Sad Change. Confusing update. Have to scroll through everything to find the stories you want to read. The previous version was well organized. This one is not. Total chaos. I have three news apps. This one used to be my go to news app. I am deleting it.

Too many dupications. There’s no reason to repeat the same stories. Updates are one thing, but repetition just to fill space is a waste.

13App. Why does this app come and go instead of being available everyday? It is by far my favorite but I can’t depend on its availabity. It is not available for three to four days and then it is back. I have checked with ATT and there is nothing wrong with my IPhone. Last week I was at 86th and Meridian but app was not available.

What is wrong?. I ipgraded to the new app and it never can connect! It says not internet connection and clearly I am connected. I have even deleted the app and reinstalled it. Any help?

Pop ups. Just deleted the app after 4 days of trying it. The pop ups or notifications are for unimportant news. I only want a pop up on my phone to distract my attention if truly breaking news that all people need to know.

Too many ads. Way too many advertisements!

Indianapolis News. It has a lot of Indianapolis news, you don’t find anywhere else.

Add Ap option to Apple TV. I tried to find the ap on my Apple TV but could only get the ap on my iPhone and iPad. I noticed other local stations had aps on Apple TV.

Love Channel 13!. This is a great local news app, from a great local news station. Keeping me updated on local news and national news like no other app! Thank you WTHR!

Too bad. New app is all show and no content. Looks good but takes constant scrolling to fight back all the ads and junk that has been inserted. Not sure who or what wrote the 5 star reviews but they or it obviously doesn't have a good comparison between the old and new. Miss the old traffic map. Things need to change or I won’t be back.....really sorry to say. Been a loyal follower for several years.

New app channel 13.. Liked old app much better. New app never loads all way to see New numbers on virus in Indiana. Haven’t been able to get it over a week. Way too many adds which interfere with a news item. Has to restart 2 times. Weather was hard to get currents quickly. Will be looking for a new tv app.

Broadcasting. I wish that I could get my local news back on WTHR

Weather reports. Weather girl spends more time telling what she is going to tell than reporting the weather. Rest of news and sports staff are fine.

A step backward. Wow... I don’t write reviews often but this app deserved it. Terrible UI, WAY too many ads that make the interface annoying and practically unusable and overall a giant step backwards. The old app wasn’t great but it was better than this. As another reviewer wrote, do some UX testing beforehand as this thing is just a train wreck...

App review. I liked the last app better. I always have a hard time getting this app to come up,the old and new one

Terrible app. Using the WTHR app used to be part of my daily morning routine. Not any more! It is very disorganized and repetitive with outdated info and new info that is buried. Worst of all, it continually locks up and just spins. I have deleted and reloaded it to find that works for a few days and then does the same thing. I’m done!

Poor. Yep, other raters are spot on. Reading news is like those clickbait sites - half of it is trying to sell you something and the other half is to keep you reading until they get credited for the next ad. The app is confusing and not well as well organized as the old (and admittedly familiar) app. Not unlike WTHR broadcast news, production quality seems to be declining with time.

News. It seems the team of News Reporters, sports reporters and Meteorologists team are ahead of the other Channels.

Good news. I believe WTHR 13 does a very good job of keeping me up-to-date on what’s going on around Indiana.

Very informative. WTHR is the only news provider for me. They report the facts only and keep us informed about things we need to know.

NBC the best. Great bunch of news and sportscasters on this station. The weather is always spot on too!

Notifications. The topic alerts and notifications are ignored. I tested it by turning all of them off and I am still getting notifications. Please fix this. Update: deleting the app. I have all topic alerts and notifications turned off and, while in a meeting today, I received two identical notifications about an owner of a team being hospitalized.

Horrible update. Not well organized, hard to find topics, no traffic map. I’ve always relied on Channel 13 for local/Indiana info, but now deleting and finding a new one.

Please bring back old features. I agree with other reviewers. You are my favorite news channel, but this app is not helpful. I used the traffic map all the time and preferred it over Waze. I liked narrowing by category. The new layout looks nice but isn’t nearly as useful as the old app. Will switch to another local news app if it isn’t fixed soon, which makes me sad.

If its not broken don’t fix it. Not sure why they would spend money and waste time making a new app that is mostly useless in comparison to the older version. The only problem I ever had with the older version was losing my place in the articles from the app automatically refreshing. Should have fixed that and left everything else alone.

Hate the new app!. It is too hard to find what you are looking for. The old app was perfect, why mess with a good thing? Loved the traffic option too, if wanted to use Waze I would have downloaded it myself. So disappointed!

This is an Advertisement App. Poor design Cumbersome navigation Advertisements take center stage It is important for the public to get their news- it is clear WTHR is focused on their bottom line and not the quality of their product. Ads are completely useless as well- generic at best. At least attempt to mine our data from social media to make the ads relevant.

Platform is highly unstable. There is so much advertising on this app it’s impossible to get to the news you can be reading one story and it will jump up in advertising appears ,impossible to use Crashes on a regular basis Channel 13 news is good you could do better on this app

Terrible “Upgrade”. There are far too many ads in the new version of the app. News stories are not organized in any fashion. I have yet to figure out what the little icons on the traffic app mean and there is no explanation that I have been able to find. This had been my go to app fir quite a while , but I have deleted it and will be using a different app.
