Picture Bird - Bird Identifier Comments & Reviews 2026

William Heard. I love this app. Birds have fascinated me since I was a fetus. I must have heard their twittering and cawing sounds passing through my mom's placenta. In the South, where I hale from, there are as many different kinds of birds as there are clouds all over the world. Now, I have a way of identifying them by their music and their perfect little bodies, except the hawks and turkey vultures. They are quite large and perfect too. I expect to love this app until I fly away.

Pretty nifty app with a few exceptions…... Works well when you have enough time to capture the image/sound. It would be nice if it had an instant zoom toggle for capturing images that are further out and when capturing sound, it’s not easy to isolate the bird you want identified from other birds in the background. Maybe add a feature where you can splice together recorded sounds so that it would identify the bird you’re trying to isolate. all in all it’s a good app though.

Unbelievably accurate. I’ve really gotten into birding lately. I really love how unbelievably accurate this app is. That said, I am running out of birds too scan as I’ve scanned most of my local visitors. And I’ve paid up for the year, which I don’t know if I needed to be, but maybe I’ll get different birds this winter.🤷overall a really great value, though this is a great value if you are into birds!

The built-in camera is not good. The camera within the app doesn’t really magnify the bird image as much as the advertising leads you to believe. I had to get close to my bird feeders in order to get any kind of identifying image. As much as I tried to enlarge the image while taking the picture, it wasn’t enough for me to see the bird clearly. It did make an identification, but the bird is tiny in the resulting photo. The rest of the features in the app are really good and informative. Amendment: If I use my iPhone photo app to take a picture of the bird I can zoom much closer to it, then import the photo into Picture Bird and use AI to sharpen it. This wasn’t clear when I first started using the app. So I might keep the app after all.

Identified with just a feather. We found a large feather outside our house and we wondered what kind of bird lost it. We figured it was a bird of prey because of its size but which species? I didn’t expect this program to work on just a feather but gave it a shot and it immediately identified it as a Great Horned Owl!! This makes sense because we’ve seen a couple of them and heard many owls while hot tubbing at night. One really spooked my wife because he was sitting just 8-10’ directly above her on the edge of the roof staring at her for a long time. It was completely silent so it really startled her when she noticed it. She had no idea how long it was there before she realized it. They are truly shockingly enormous when so close.

Needs a location fix.. Great app. Seriously one of the best things in a bird photographers repertoire, BUT it needs a way to set a location before you ID a photo! While I was in the philipinnes, all of my IDs through the app were spot on, but coming back to the US, i can’t say “what’s this bird—and here’s where it was” so I’m only getting results from the area around me, which of course aren’t accurate for the birds of the Philippine Isles. Great app otherwise!

Very good, but might need some other features. I have been enjoying this app a lot, and I credit it for getting me into birdwatching. It’s quite accurate with the sound recordings and pictures, even if it gets it wrong, I can use other features on the app to find the right bird. The app is very useful and convenient, but I think it needs some features to make it even easier to track birds. The feature I would want the most is a way to transport sound files into the bird sound recorder. I often find myself trying to open the app, and not being able to pull up the sound recorder in time. This would also make it so that I don’t have to have the internet to track birds, as I can just transport the sound files/ recordings when I get home. Another useful feature would be a video recorder, it’s difficult to get the picture in time when you can’t see the bird, as it can easily fly off. If I could record the entire process, even when the bird flies off, I would have had it recorded on my phone. Those are my thoughts on the app, it’s very useful and convenient, it’s just that I think it could be improved on even more.

Nice app but inaccurate. While using the identify by sound feature, too many times I get results for birds that don’t even live on the North American continent, forget about in Massachusetts. I like the app. It’s a great idea, but unless I am willing to pay 💰for a subscription I don’t get accurate results for the sound identification feature. I used it to check if it would accurately identify a Red bellied Woodpecker, but the results were of a species of Toucan found in Columbia. This was after several attempts to identify a bird, but the result kept coming back, incorrectly, as a Common Nightingale, which is found in Europe, Asia Minor, the Middle East, and Central Asia…but Not in New England. It would be nice if we could set our location, for free, so that we could get accurate information.

Frequent totally absurd identifications. I’m in New Jersey; you know, a state in the United States? Just now a Bluejay was identified as a toucan from Columbia to be precise. Earlier a bird I could not identify was ID’d as a Eurasian bittern This has happened many times with many different incredible, impossible identifications. I suppose somewhere in Indonesia,a user is being told they just heard a black capped chickadee from New Jersey. And I want to add that the recordings were fairly long and quite clear, and not interrupted by other bird sounds, so that excuse can’t be used by the developer.

I Now Love Bird Watching!. I recently became interested in bird watching aided by the Picture Bird app—and I’m thrilled to share my experience! This app not only helped me enhance my bird identification skills, but made me feel like a "birdie" in the field. One standout feature is its superior identification system, which surpasses the Melin app I previously tried. Picture Bird allows one to build a personal photo library of your own bird snapshots, complete with location data. This feature is invaluable for keeping track of my sightings and sharing my experiences with fellow bird enthusiasts. Another highlight is the global identification feature, which allows users to see where different bird species are spotted worldwide. This is particularly helpful when I'm traveling or exploring new areas, as I can easily find out which birds are available to observe in various locations. Additionally, the app is incredibly user-friendly, making it easy for both beginners and seasoned birdwatchers to navigate. Overall, I highly recommend this bird watching app for anyone looking to elevate their birdwatching experience!

Perhaps not worth $40 / year. This is a very nice app in some ways and a bit tedious in a few others. I don’t think it is quite good enough to warrant $40 per year. The first thing I tried was to identify the birds in my photos. I have lots of photos. The navigation process is terrible on the iPad. After I select a bird photo, if the photo is good (or even mediocre), the app is excellent at correct identification. All the birds I tried (13) were correct as the first or second choice. The great majority were right as the first choice. That warranted the four stars. I didn’t try the sounds yet. More about navigation: If I select a thumbnail, it is usually one of many for a particular bird. If the first one I pick is not the best, I ‘X’ out and I expect the navigation to stay in the same spot among my 5,000 or so photos. It doesn’t; it jumps back to the latest picture. That gives a super tedious process of trying to select the best photo from a little thumbnail or wasting minutes getting back to the same spot. Doing that once is bad enough but by the time I got through 13 bird images, I was tired of that process. The app tells me I have 13 collections, matching the 13 birds I identified. However, the “Me” tab shows only four of the birds and I have not found a way to scroll or page to the rest of them. That seems an odd deficiency. There was no obvious help link in the app. So, I think I will delete the app to avoid $40 charges. That’s sad because I like the excellent identification.

This is an amazing Program!!. I can’t believe the accuracy of this program. I took several pictures of birds in a willow tree 100 feet away with a hand held 200mm lens on a Nikon D3000. I enlarged the portion of the photo with the bird image, producing a very blurry picture of a Cardinal, a Blue Jay and a Mourning Dove. The program accurately nailed all three. The ability to hear the songs and calls of the birds, as well as the ability to have the program identify birds by recording the song from your smart phone is an added bonus.

Just amazing!. Went to a burd sanctuary and this app was very immediate. Since it was a sanctuary it always said what bird it was so I was able to check if it was accurate. Not once did it get it wrong(besides the one time i took an accidental picture of a leaf 🫠). Definitely deserves the five stars. It also includes a ton of information about the bird itself. Answers frequently asked questions and says most common dimensions of the bird. Very accurate. Love it! Also, it saves 😃

Love this app!!. Honestly, it seems to be accurate close to at least 99% of the time. It’s helped me to identify birds that I don’t have the eyesight to see the details for. I have a bird video camera that could have a bird identifying function, but I chose not to even bother with that because this app is so good. Also, sometimes when you have sounds in the backyard of birds, and you don’t know who they belong to, the record and identification button for that is amazing as well.

Great! 🪺. This is definitely my fav birdwatching app out there! There is so many options even without the subscription and it is easy to record bird calls and take pics! This apps ID is almost always correct and it offers lots of information about each of the many bird types it has. The bird expert AI option is very helpful and provides as much info as you need. Although this is a great app, some of the birds are missing pictures! Other than that this is an awesome resource. Definitely recommend for all bird watchers!

Fun app!. First time using this app, and it was a lot of fun! Very easy to use. We were trying to figure out what these little birds were, and it was very simple to figure out what they were after taking the picture.. the picture was easy to take, and the results were easy for us to find. We will be using this app a lot in the future I’m sure. :)

Fear of Birds. This app totally helped me overcome my fear of birds after my companion dog recently died whom absolutely loved birds. I have epilepsy and often wander outside for no reason to have seizures and have been seriously injured and if it wasn’t for my dog always keeping safe thru them and then finding help I wouldn’t be here today. So I owe it to him to overcome my fear and walk amongst the birds as he probably is. This app lets me and my family learn about all the beautiful songbirds, woodpeckers, finches and my favorite the ever so calm and epherical; hummingbirds. Moving from Ca to Wa is great to learn so much about all the beautiful colored birds. Thank you for helping me slowly get over my fear for I know my dog would.❤️🙏🕊

Not quite sure yet. I have used this app 3 to 4 times and I feel that two out of three were the same chirping as the actual bird. I know you do have to get close to the bird which is sometimes hard to do but overall I am very satisfied with what I have received. I also enjoy all the other information that comes along with the bird that you identified. I hope they don’t start charging soon for this app!

It was really helpful!. I couldn’t believe it when this app discovered so many birds for me! It’s very helpful and without this app, I couldn’t have discovered any of the beautiful birds I saw. I was really happy when I continued the use the app without paying subscription. Of course then I was limited to a only few things I could use in the app….. Overall though, this app helped me a lot!

Accurate. In my experience, this is the best bird identifier there is. A subscription is a little too expensive for me at the moment but I’m still able to insert a photo and get an accurate result. I know most people believe other, more “well-respected” apps are the best but I have used and tested several, over a few years now, including those, and I can honestly say that this is my go-to. There are some limitations but truly, even some of the worst photos I’ve used to test, have been accurate. You have the option to correct an answer but I have maybe done it once. I get more correct answers on harder to place photos than I ever did with clear ones, using other apps. People ask if I have those and I say yes but this has become the only one I use. As soon as I get back on my feet financially, I’m going for the pro version because the options are amazing!! I have played around with this app, I totally trust and love it!

So many birds so little time. I love this app because it gives me the ability to identify the beautiful birds around me. However, I get frustrated because it loads rather slowly. By the time it loads, I often miss the bird I’m trying to identify . The camera feature could use some improvement also. It doesn’t zoom out far enough.

Fun!. This app is so much fun! And it’s easy to use. Take a photo. Zoom in on the bird subject. App scans it, sharpens it and in seconds you know the species of bird. You can then save it to your Collection. The app guides you through each step. There also is a bird community in your area you can join for free. Share photos and info with fellow bird watchers in your neighborhood! This app has so many features I think the cost is well worth it.

First time user. I just put up a bird-feeder my family got me. It has a camera on it, very cool feature which identifies the bird. Now I want to be able to distinguish bird calls and this App is fantastic. Once it identifies the sound(there are many other features as well including photo enhancements) it educates you on the bird, diet, areas it thrives, genus / species. The Picture Bird app is basically Wikipedia on steroids.

Good app. This app has helped me a lot with bird identification. I live by a forest and hear a wide variety of birds. It is able to identify even faint distant calls. My wishes for future versions would be to have the Sound button be easier to get to than the Picture button, as I have not used the Picture button even once (birds being distant as they usually are). Often by the time I’ve gotten to the Sound button, the bird is gone.

Summer Tanager. We decided to get the bird app on our cell phone because we kept seeing this pretty little greenish bird come to our bird bath. We got the app and we were soon able to identify our new friend! Female Summer Tanager! The app is a bit pricey but when you love watching birds from the comforts of your home, it is worth the price. We have had it about 6 weeks and already it has aided us in identifying two different new visitors this Summer. We know most of our friends that come to eat from our feeders but like today we had a new friend come. Thanks to this app we now know identity her and look forward to seeing her again soon!

Help. I downloaded this app a while ago and I accidentally signed up for a subscription. I thought I had deleted it but I was just charged this morning so obviously I didn’t properly cancel the subscription. I just went back to my Apple account and took care of that but I was hoping I could be refunded for the charge this morning. If there’s a way to check via my Apple ID which is the same as my email, you can confirm I have not been using the app. A refund would be a huge help as I can’t afford it right now and my wife is pretty mad at me for this charge. Thank you for your help.

Lovely app for birds lover!. I visited Hawaii and surprisingly found that the species richness in here. I took some pictures about the birds, and even want to join a bird-watching tour. I recalled that there’s app for identifying flowers and plants, I thought it might be one app for birds, and I found this! I enter the picture I took in Hawaii, it recognizes it correctly. It is so good for education and bird lovers to learn more about those lovely creatures.

Great app. A little overpriced in my opinion.. I’ve only been using this app for about a week but in a couple different states. It seems to work well most of the time. It comes up “unknown” a few too many times on good pictures for me to give it a 5 rating. It’s also a bit overpriced for a casual user. If you travel a lot for birding and want an app that gives you good results most of the time, this is good. I DO like the fact it tells you a little bit about the bird also.

Identifying birds by sound has been just heaven for me. I sit outside in the morning and switch on the sound identifying app and it’s spot on every time I can’t tell you how much I love this app!!! And if I see a bird, not just hear it, i take a picture and it gets that right as well!! I’ve used this app all over the world and learned so much about different birds in other places as well!

Identify birds I hear singing. My daughter and I love sitting in my back yard, listening to the birds who come along and chirp away. My daughter grabs her phone and listens to the singing birdwith this app. She and I’ve collected quite a few songs with identification by this app. I can discuss with my neighbors who live several blocks away and learn if they hear the same or different birds. Love the app. Yes!

Amazing. If you are looking for an app that truly is helpful then this is it! It can not only identify birds through photo and sound it can take a “poor quality” photo and through AI clear it up for identification. Once the bird is identified, there is tons of information about the bird with photos- food needs and migration habits. Worth every penny! It has not missed identifying a bird yet!

Such A Helpful App. This is such a cool app that I tend to tell everyone about! I use most of the other apps that are put out by MIT. I love bird watching, and if I don’t have a clue about what I’m looking at I can just take a quick picture and identify it in seconds! And if I can hear the call of the bird, and I have no clue what I’m listening to, I can just take a 5 second audio clipping and most of the time I get the answers I need. Even if the bird call is far away and you can barely hear it, the microphone tends to pick up most sounds….

Accurate and amazing. This app is not only free but also easy to use and understand. It's great for bird lovers as it identifies birds EXTREMELY accurately and includes details like what kind of food attracts them or what kind of sound they make. Overall this is an amazing app that's full of accurate information and details. Would recommend to any bird lover an or bird watcher!

Picture Bird Song Identifier. I was so looking forward to using this app to identify birds by their song. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work. Recording the voice of a bird recently on Picture Bird, I listened to the three suggestions the app brought up. Hmm…Why do I have to pay $40 a year for three suggestions? It gets worse. All three of the suggestions had the song I had just heard…identical recordings of the same bird. It gets worse still. I brought up iBird Pro, a terrific app I’ve used for years, and played the 5-7 different recordings for each of the three birds suggested by Picture Bird. None of the suggestions were correct. The bird I had recorded was not any of these! This is not the only time this has happened. So far, the app has identified one bird correctly (a Northern Mockingbird) and half diesel incorrectly. Once, I gave up waiting for a bird to sing and stopped the recorder with no sound on it. It still made suggestions. In conclusion, I have to say, this app is a rip-off. It’s a great concept…go do your research and come back to us with a finished product before you start charging for it.

First test. I just downloaded the app while I was inside my apartment. Just for fun and to see what happened, I aimed at a ceramic rooster that I have in my entertainment center (it’s stylistically designed). I didn’t even think about the little barn owl behind a candle that was also in the surroundings, but the app immediately recognized it and identified it correctly (even though it isn’t a live bird, but an accurately designed ceramic one)! I’m going outside later to see how the sounds are picked up. First test, I am thrilled with this app!

Love it!. I have enjoyed the Picture Bird app the moment I got it. It’s well worth the yearly fee. If I could improve one thing though, it would be the space given to insert a picture. It doesn’t want to allow moving your photo you've taken into the center or best centered. Hope that makes sense. But regardless, I’d use this app no matter what. I just love it. My Dad got it because of the ease he saw me, identifying birds in our area.

Cool birds, but odd appearances. When I first downloaded this app, it was amazing at first. The Dr. Hoot thing was so cool, the clearing filter for the blurriness from my iPad was awesome, and obviously…the birds! But it’s just that most of them were just too blurry, others weren’t the actual bird. This made me confused about this situation. I just hope soon there will be an update that there will be no blurry images. I’m not too upset about this, I just hope this doesn’t happen again. 🫤

Love It. I love this app. I’ve been using this for a year now and it’s so easy to use. Kinda consider myself an amateur bird watcher. I use this app so much that I’ve been able to identify birds in real life if you want to dip your toe into birding this the app. I do wish there was more informative articles the picture identification part is the best and they do give you a blurb but I’d like to know what identifiers I should looking out for. Also maybe a double check feature because the app isn’t always 100% I

Really incredible!. This is really cool my favorite thing about the app is that you can use the sound that the bird makes to identify it which I love. Because if you can’t see the bird you can still identify it because of the sounds that it makes. But the only thing that I do not like is that it wants you to buy unlimited identifications which can get in the way it other than that it is really amazing.

How cool it is. You should get this app because how cool it is you can identify any kind of Bird. This is a very cool app that anyone can have you can also type start to eight and also write a review just like I am. You should probably get this app and identify any kind of food that you want to identify you can also record the sound and you can listen to it and it will show you what kind of bird it might be one time I whistled and it showed up three types of boots but when I got to mine it said can’t register your sound.

Useless-I don’t love birds for $40 taken out of my account. I downloaded the trial version because I wondered what bird was being so loud outside. I’m not a bird enthusiast or anything. Of course I was automatically charged the $40 yearly price instead of the $3.99 monthly price. No apps with integrity in their product have to deceive people into something that they don’t want. Any such contract has no legal binding as a signature is only proof of deception. Contracts are agreements between two parties. What is written and signed only proves that two parties were either in agreement or one was deceived. Let’s look at the fine print. It’s “fine” because it’s meant to deceive. Otherwise it would be written clearly in bold. And there wouldn’t be unhappy people. This isn’t a game show and we’re sore losers! The solution is simple. You pay for what you use. No harm no fowl. If you have a useful product then people will happily pay for it. That’s why companies with integrity withstand the erosion of time. This applies to all apps that iTunes have yet to afford the courtesy to their customers with this free trial madness! This has got to stop! It leaves us with a bad taste i our mouth. Shame on iTunes and Shame on you!

So many birds!. I live down the street from a state park in Southern California. On my way to it (1/4 mile walk) I usually see 10 different species. Orioles and doves nest in our backyard and multiple hummingbird species dive bomb each other for a seat at the plastic feeders on our front porch. This app helps me catalog all of them as well as identifying exactly what it is I’m taking pictures of. I’ve learned so much and the app has transformed simply walking my dog into genuine treasure hunt. Thanks!

I am shocked at what this app can capture. When I try to take a picture of a bird, they usually don’t sit there and pose for me. It’s difficult to get close and the slightest movement just makes them flutter and fly off. This app captures them from every possible angle and still identifies them! I have one picture of a bird hanging upside down belly up on a suet feeder and it identified it. I am so impressed!

Awesome!!!. I’ve been wanting a bird ID for a long while. And when I saw it was from this developer. I jumped on it. I have the insect identification app, and the plant identification app from this same developer. They are both awesome. I’ve even tried to trick them and the mass majority of the time. The app gets it right. What sold me that this app was great. Was I’ve been wondering what kind of bird has been coming to my back porch to feed for months. I tried to get a picture but it was zoomed in as much as I could get. Was basically camouflaged into the branch it was on. But I submitted the picture anyhow. Within seconds the app had spit out an identification. I checked the pictures and it was actually correct my mind was blown. I will also be downloading the rock identification app from them too. These apps are great!!! Thank you so much 👍🏼

Through a Screen. I’ve taken several pictures of birds from my kitchen window and the app has been able to identify them, even though the screen was very prominent in the picture. I knew the identity of the birds before I took the picture, so I felt comfortable with the results when I tried it on unknown (to me) birds. I like the extra information I received from the app.

Great app!. This is a really great app. I usually don’t leave reviews but this app is note- worthy! Picture bird recognizes birdsong and pictures! You get high-quality, accurate results in seconds! You can scan any bird, anywhere. This app even works of the network! It isn’t pay to scan or anything like that. You can have unlimited scans and song recordings! Perfect for bird watchers everywhere.

Wrong answers. Not happy with this app. Way too expensive for the wrong answers! On top of it all I only wanted to try the app and it charged me for a year subscription! What? Are you kidding I feel bamboozled. I thought it was too expensive but I was willing to try it for a week and if it worked (which it doesn’t ) I would gladly pay the $$ but after one day it got almost all of the pictures wrong. The app suggested I had vultures in my Southern California back yard. Give me a break seriously. It is not worth it. I wish I would have read some of the reviews first.

I love the app. Most of the time an idea comes to your brain you have to see if already exists and guest what, it does. I have been taking pictures of birds I am being feeding for a while, specially sine shelter in place. Today I thought of checking on to see if there is an app to identify the birds I have been taking photos of. I have used an app to help me identify plants because I love the Latin name. I am so happy to find this one and I love it. I will upgrade ASAP. Keep up the good work.

Unbridled Picture Bird. The accuracy and utility of this bird identification application amazes me again and again. As a wildlife photography enthusiast, I’ve had the occasion to research my subjects in depth. Picture Bird gives me far more detailed information than I could ever hope for, and has rarely, if ever, led me astray. My colleagues use similar apps which, when delivering suspect information, give me the opportunity to shine by correcting them. I highly recommend this bit of digital genius to any and all! …g

New Birder. Tried using other bird identification apps, but they were all so complicated. This one is so easy to use. Love being able to either take a picture or upload one, then push a button to get it identified. It’s surprisingly very accurate. The couple of times it missed the bird identified the one it picked was close to the one submitted. Has really made identification so much easier!

Bird Identification. I am not using this App & wish to cancel but have been unsuccessful

Animals behaviost. To learn about all the animals from biggest to smallest like ants and spiders

Misleading. Does not declare pricing or in app purchases. Found I subscribed to an annual fee, after feeling safe it was a free app.

Not for Australia. I was excited when a North American friend recommended this app very highly. I am convinced that it must be fabulous in his country, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing in Melbourne, Australia. Ninety percent of the bird song recorded was identified as coming from North America.

Noice. I didn’t know this app could identify eggs! Keep up the good work!👍

Has amazing promise - very informative.. I’ve used PictureThis for plants for a year now and IT IS EXCELLENT. This application appears to employ the same technology and format. My one question for developers is - if the application identifies the wrong species - is there a way of correcting it to the right one? I’m not quite sure what data the application collects and how it uses it, but if users could correct incorrect identities, could this information then be used to improve the algorithms or whatever is employed to determine identity? I imagine that, over time, even poor quality photographs could lead to identifications with a higher sensitivity with the additional data inputed by users who correct wrong identities. I’m not sure if I’ve expressed myself well, but essentially I suggest that users could improve accuracy by correcting mistaken identifications.

Good for me to learn to identify individual birds. Which visit my small backyard in Central Vivctoria Easy to learn as you go Thank you

Wow!. This app zoomed the camera on my iphone13 max onto a small bird 10 feet away. First time I have seen an app do that!!

Great App 💚. Would love to have easy access to bird calls linked to Identification request Please 🙏

Ist time user. Very impressive so far thankyou

Price. I think this is my first negative review. App is a 5 star app. But it’s ruined by the extreme price, the app is probably worth a $20 one off payment, but $60?? Wait not only is it $60, that’s PER YEAR, you don’t get to own it, you pay $60 every year to use it. This really is scamming people out of their money.

Scam. This App is a scam Can’t delete or remove from subscriptions. Keeps taking my money and doesn’t show up on Apple account as a subscription so I can’t report it to Apple.

Uninvited subscription. The app is advertised as free but this is NOT correct. As soon as you have downloaded it it is an automatic subscription requiring you to cancel in order not to pay for renewal after the ‘free’ trial period (7days). This is not simple to do, I still haven’t figured out how to cancel. While the app seems to be great functionally, the forced subscription is very misleading and uninvited.

Misleading. eBird said this app was free but after you download it it says for a one week free trial before you are charged and they dint even say how much it costs! I am disgusted with this app. And it did not correctly id the bird anyway!😖

Don’t click this. It costs money. Misleading!. This is not free and very hard to unsubscribe.

Misleading. I was charged 43 Australian dollars within a few days of downloading and before the free trial period was over. No mention of fee in the App Store page and cancel option is hidden deep in settings somewhere. On top of this the app performed poorly in my opinion.

Amazing app. Learning about these creatures has changed my life. They follow us everywhere we go and with this technology we are able to better understand the world around us.

Bird identification review. Makes too many mistakes with Australian birds. Will cancel subscription

Stop identifying American birds, I live in Australia. Would be great if there was a function that excludes birds that do not live in your geographical area. Even if it was by continent. Would also be good to be able to edit the recording to exclude birds that appear at the end of the recording to make identification easier.

Incorrect identifications. I tried it ion free trial. 2 out of 3 incorrectly identified. There is also no way to specify your country. Without that the default is USA which will automatically give an incorrect identification. Don’t bother with this one.

No way to set locale to southern hemisphere. Disappointing app. No way to set a local location so it’s identifying birds from the northern hemisphere, United States mostly, that Don’t appear in the southern hemisphere.

Looks free ITS NOT! ..... annoying to unsubscribe. Looks free ITS NOT! ..... annoying to unsubscribe

Cancel App. How do I cancel the app?

American birds only. Doesn’t identify Australian birds always says it’s some North American small birds

Misleading. I downloaded the app and then to discover I had to go into the settings to cancel. I’m not good at technology and living alone on disability pension. Now I’m wondering if I need to change my bank card as I’m not sure if I’m going to be charged. I deleted the app straight away though not feeling confident they won’t still charge me

Junk, Everything is a house sparrow. The Quail in the back yard? House sparrow. Woman’s face? House sparrow. Picture of empty grass patch? House sparrow. Man’s face? Kiwi. You would think it could at least identify *not* a bird at this point.

Not a free app!. How do I cancel this? It looks like it’s free but apparently not .

SOOOO GOOD. This app is so good, My dad saved a bird from the road and is raising it so it could survive. We didn’t know what bird it was until this app. Its so good. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS

Birds. Absolutely fabulous

Disasterous!!. I too can NOT stop the recurring cost of subscription! $45AUD per year!!!!!!

Great App. This App is great for someone who is new to bird photography, it’s amazingly accurate refining your species of bird. I looked at a few Apps and found this to suit my needs.

Excellent resource. This app keeps it's promise and is quick t correctly identify birds from all over the world. You can even let it know if it wrong, if you already have an idea of what you're looking for. I find it to of great value and easy enough to use. 👍

wow!. excellent app! and bird indentifier.

Re bird pictures. Need to be able to zoom more for clarity

Not very good so far. Captured a very clear recording of a distinctive sound. The suggestions were not even close.

Heron identification. How do I cancel my subscription?

Français. Trouve pas en français

Amazing app!. I live in BC Canada and there’s just so much birds here that I don’t know the names. Picture this Bird help my daily walks and hikings more fun by clicking pictures of every bird i see and read about them

Nice try. This app seems to be a good value, and is if you can get a really good close-up of the bird you’re trying to take a picture of. However, my experience so far is that birds are always too far away to get a clear picture and the zoom in the app does not take advantage of the full capability of my camera, iPhone 12 max. Therefore, the app struggles to come up with a definitive recognition, and I have to pick between several options. Which is not very helpful because I can’t see the bird that clearly either from the distance. So in summary, I won’t be renewing my subscription. Hopefully you can make corrections to the zoom feature to make it more valuable tool.

Magical. the most magical bird identification app online for the most beautiful birds.

Good app. It’s really cool how the recording is so clear and how the app indentifies the different bird sounds.

Australia. Great

I’m sorry. I was quite excited to see this app, it said my chickens were crows The only chicken it got right with the photo was my legbar, I think you need to go back to the drawing board!

Grive?. Baie-Saint-Paul, nuageux, forêt de feuillus

😡😡😡😡. I am not happy! I just realize that I have to pay to use this app. I love birds . They are my favourite animal and now I have to pay! I was very excited but now I deleted it😡

Awesome app. Has everything you would want, and doesn’t make you pay for basic features

Très bon site pour l’identification des espèces. J’adore le site et très efficace pour identifier les espèces d’oiseaux. J’aimerais juste qu’il y ai plus de son d’oiseaux de disponible car c’est vraiment un atout précieux.

So far … very impressive!. I’ve been testing this out in Asia. I’m impressed with all that is able to do. It can even help with those poor and blurry photos of birds we all get. Well do e!

Sound recording id is no good. Recorded the sound of a small raptor that was dive bombing me and it identified the bird as a crow. Deleted app and cancelled the subscription

Poor user interface. Accidentally bought this. Can’t find a way to unsubscribe so I don’t waste another $26 next year. Guess I’ll have to contact Apple.

Really impressive app, but too expensive. Unfortunately I cannot afford to pay $40/year for this. A cheaper option (maybe only letting you identify a few birds per month) would be great. But I think it’s really great and identified my birds right away.

Baby bird identification. You did not give the correct identification as these birds were found on Southern Vancouver Island in BC, Canada

Garbage App. Trash

Highly recomend. My first year adding bird feeders to my yard and l’m enjoying the education to what birds are coming to visit and many facts about them. I like how no matter how unfocused or pixelated (from zooming in) my uploaded pictures are the app is always able to identify.

Works perfectly…. I looked up random birds on my computer and took pictures if them and it suprisingly got it correct!

Downloaded & Deleted. Competitors have much better apps. Tried to download quickly to find a bird nearby, but we missed it because this app has a minute-long non-skippable intro about all of their positive reviews. The app then pesters you to upgrade to a paid account while you’re trying to identify birds, which made us miss another bird we were trying to identify. Once we were finally able to identify one, we found the user interface to be unnecessarily complicated and weren’t sure the bird sounds and calls assigned were even accurate, as they often sounded entirely different. We downloaded a competitor app which was immediately quick, accurate, and helpful, and deleted this one.

Works great. Love checking the birds

Charged $60 even when cancelled immediately. Rip off, used it once during the free trial period, cancelled subscription on first day of trial, they still charged me for a year. This app is garbage!

Love it. So far I’m really impressed with the app !! Give a lots of good info and love the fact I can see pictures

Missing the Tweet. The accuracy and reliability for birdsong recognition is less than 25% from what I have noted. While I am certainly not an expert, I am willing to bet that the likelihood of birds that are found in Eastern Europe, southern parts of Asia, South America, and the South Eastern United States are generally not found in central British Columbia. This app is fun to play with but I would not rely upon it for accuracy.

Fair at best. Not very good at distinguishing between birds and other noises.

I love this app!. I use it all the time, it had such cool features, even with the free version. I love that it saves all your previous finds. Their other apps—picture insect and pictureThis (for plants) are also fantastic!

Not Free. 7 day trial than almost $50

Bird app. This is the best animal app ❤️🕊️

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO MAKE TIME,SIT WITH MY BIRD APPS AND WAIT AND WATCH. So relaxing

Useless. First of all you have to pay for this app. And after 6 pictures no right answer

I love this app. I honestly couldn’t live without it. 10/10

Really good. I love birds and this really helps me identify clearly what it is and where it lives, and all the noises and I use this app almost all the time, super helpful

Review. My favorite app!

Oiseau mort. Voici une photo d’un énorme oiseau mort que j’ai trouvé

Awesome app. Identifies very accurately. My best backyard companion in the spring!

Love it ❤️🪶🦩. I love this app

Great aps. Love this aps

Great idea, slow moving. The app is great, however the load time is very slow and the pop up screen that is encouraging users to upgrade is annoying.

Not allowed to use unless you pay or have credit card info. I am told this is a “in app- purchase” app. Your not allowed to use this app unless you have credit card info in place already. Which is not “in app purchase”. It’s one thing to charge for certain features but this app requires credit card info before letting you use it for a 7 day free trial. That is different than many “in app purchase” apps that are available. I’d love to use the app but not allowed without giving them credit card information

Love this App. Accurate and easy to use. If you’re a bird lover, then download this app!

Harassment. app constantly pushing you to buy

Sound identification. The sound identification feature is definitely the best, as many times the bird can’t even be seen never mind a close photo.

Identifier les oiseaux par les images. J’adore cette application ! J’ai appris beaucoup sur les « anges » qui viennent me voir et j’ai pas fini d’apprendre ! ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️

Useful App. This is so helpful and quick to identify the birds you see.

The Best. I've downloaded several bird ID apps and this one is the best at identifying birds. Even when the bird is in a thicket. Plus it's super easy to use and to save the birds you identify. Awesome app but the price is a little high. I wish it had a monthly option.

Newby in birding. I’m impressed with app. Took a pic of a bird that has been visiting my window ledge regularly but I could not get a good angle for positive identity. Through a protective screen on my window your app correctly identified the bird of which I had never seen in my backyard and I was ever so curious about. Thank you.

This app is amazing!. I would always have to use google Before I got this app and there are other people there to identify it too if the app didn’t get it right! It’s really easy to use and best of all- it’s entirely free! I love this app so much! Five stars! I definitely recommend getting this app!

Love this app’s photo id feature!!. Even if my photo is blurry because the bird is far away, the app does an almost perfect job identifying the bird. The sound id is good too but not quite as accurate. I do really like that the app gives several possible birds as results of the sounds and immediate photos & info.

Clarified Blurry Shots. I LOVE this app! I am an amateur iPhone photographer and have many somewhat blurred shots of birds. The bird photo AI enhancer tool is awesome! The identifier is very good (but not perfect). It identified the same bird (different shots) as 4 different species, but overall A terrific app! I also enjoy the sounds which match what I heard from the birds I was photographing.

Fantastic App for Bird ID. I use this app all the time and have never had an issue with it giving me incorrect results. The best part is that I can store my own pictures of the birds identified rather than stock photos like some other apps use. I love, love this app and highly recommend!

Love this app. This app is so easy to use. I like being able to just pick up the Sounds or capture the actual picture of the birds. It is is so easy to use and to store and share your bird sightings.

Works really well if you can get up close. I might just be missing it but I need a button to get better shots. Usually if I’m close enough to identify the bird I’ve already scared it away. Works great on pictures you see online or on calendars or posted from other people.

Love it !. it’s very easy to take a picture and seems to identify really well. Also love how you can get a picture from something and it will scan it also and identify it!

Wonderful app. Identifies birds wonderfully even when used with poorer quality photos. Works well off of photos on my Canon camera live view screen, my laptop and desktop. Just visited Ireland and is nailing the ID’s there as well. Love this app!

Best bird photo ID out there. This is definitely the best photo ID app out there. Super helpful! The only thing I would improve is a real time bird sound ID, but hey, that’s not the name of the app so can’t complain!! Love it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone, worth every penny.

Incredible app design. I’m not a bird enthusiast but the app itself is unbelievably well made. It deserves to be recognized as one of the best made most beautiful apps on the App Store. I wish my hobbies had the same quality engineering going into their apps.

Love love love this app!! I use it everyday!. One tiny recommendation. It’d be nice to be able to set default mode “By Sound” vs “By Photo”. I almost always use the “By Sound” mode and it’s cumbersome to have to navigate every time I start up the app.

I love this app!. This app is spot on when identifying various birds. I love taking photos while walking thru the preserves or even at home. It's especially helpful when we're walking and I'm not sure what I'm looking at. This app solves the problem. I also love that this is done all by the free version! Thanks for developing this app.!

Primary Resource!. This application is exceptionally helpful especially when I am hiking new trails in various parts of Southern California! There are So many different birds in San Diego and I really can enjoy and better appreciate them using this application.

Fun App!. I’m enjoying learning about new birds since I just moved to NM. I’m hearing birds but can’t find them. This app allows me to record the birdsong then know what to look for. My only complaint is that I have to run through the request to upgrade to a premium account every time I open it and sometimes the bird is gone by then.

Fantastic app. This site gives me so much information. I wonder what birds are making certain sounds I can’t see the birds, but I can hear them. And this app answers my questions it is a great app. I feed the birds and I love hearing their sounds, but I cannot identify the sound of the bird and this app does that for me.

Identifies Bird calls. I walk in the early mornings when the light is low and the birds are singing, so for years I've wondered about all the different calls I hear without being able to see the birds. The internet was hardly any help. This app identified them for me, finally, with no trouble! Glad I downloaded it.

fantastic. every time I use this app, I enjoy it. It always works and never fails to impress me and it makes my birdwatching hobby all the more enjoyable. Now I am sharing my discovered birds with my family across the United States.

Good app - if you’re quick. By the time I could zoom in and get it focused, frequently the bird had moved or flown off. Without getting a good, clear shot the info given was incorrect. Multiple shots sometimes resulted in multiple results. I’m sure of this because I tested it on birds I know first. Funny note - one shot the bird flew off causing me to capture a chipmunk that was behind it instead. Came up as a wren. Clever disguise, little wren. 😉

Picture Bird. This app might be good if you go to a zoo and are 5 feet or closer to the bird but so far using it just for about a week it is always incorrect if you are more than 10-20 feet away. It just guesses. Compared to picture this which identifies plants with 95-98% accuracy I cannot give this app greater than 5-10% accuracy if you are more than 10 feet- it also guesses based on whether the bird is on the ground or in a tall tree. This app would be much improved if somehow there could be a way to magnify much better

Use it all the time. It’s really accurate in identifying birds. Even pictures from pretty far away. I’ve had to use less than good photos and it still works well

Picture Enhancer. When you enhance a picture of a bird, the bird in the picture turns up weird and not right. It smushes birds vertically, like a pancake. It also just makes birds look like a bundle of feathers. Sometimes, it makes the birds look like something they’re not. Other times it makes the birds look odd and not like birds at all. Otherwise it is a very good app.

Identifying. I love being able to find out so much information about birds while I am out on a hike or anywhere that I don’t have access to a book. Thank you for making this possible

I love the app and picturethis also!. One bit of feedback: I can’t always see the bird I hear, so I’m not confident exactly what species it could have been when you ask if you got it right.

Very disappointing with no close Zoom feature. Needs same zoom feature offered on their other app, Picture This. Picture this is a plant identification app that allows you to zoom in. On bird app you’re unable to zoom in close enough and many birds are skiddish and will fly away if you get close. App wrongly identifies birds. Huge disappointment for $40 yearly to just get incorrect information . I would ask for a refund but I’ve already paid and there’s no return option.

App won’t open. I can’t get the app to open. Keeps saying failed. I have subscribed to your app. I tried deleting the app and then reloading and that didn’t work either. Need to is fixed or I will be deleting and not renewing.

Great product!. This software is helping me learn the different birds we see at our cabin and when out to different places! I’ve even helped others in different places and states!

Identify birds I hear singing. I love sitting in my back yard, listening to the birds who come along and chirp away. And, I’ve collected a few songs with identification by this app. I can discuss with my neighbors who live several blocks away and learn if they hear the same or different birds. Love the app.

Good, but…. This is a full-featured app that could be better. First of all, its camera only zooms about 2x, so it doesn’t take advantage of the iPhone’s optical and digital range capabilities, and if you move closer, the birds scoot. Second, its identifications are sometimes way off. For example, it ID’d a small black and yellow bird in a tree as a Sandhill Crane.

Very Good App. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much I am enjoying the ability to identify the various birds in my backyard with this app. Initially I was apprehensive when I saw the annual cost. However after using it for the past few days I can truly say it’s worth every penny. It has been spot on!

This app is so informative.. I have always wanted to be able to identify the birds I see and to know for sure by their songs . And what they like to eat . I’m amazed how little they are and how loud they can sing . It’s god beautiful creature .

Paywall. This app has proven to be great. Not only does it help identify birds, but it also provides excellent information on them. Easy to use, also. The reason I rate it low is the paywall. I know it’s necessary, but it is definitely deterrent. There are apps as good / better than this one FOR FREE! However, it is undoubtedly an excellent app. 10/10 quality. Only problem is paywall for full access.

Wonderful app for those who love birds and want to know what kind of birds. This app is absolutely wonderful. I love it. I don’t really know the different species of a lot of the birds and this really helps me and it’s so much fun. I would definitely advise you to get this if you care about birds.

Awesome sound recognition. This app has incredible technology and is so easy to use! Highly recommend for anyone taking an interest in the activity of the birds that we see everyday!

Love It!. Started using this two years ago.. even on fuzzy pics, it’s dead on correct every time. I’ve gotten quite a library of different birds coming to feed outside our kitchen window.

So informative!!. This app is easy to use no matter when I snap a photo of birds — I can go back to those photos from the app and find out all about each bird! I use it almost everyday!

Great sound recognition also. The app was able to correctly identify the sound of a house wren. My wife said she thought it was a snake. The sound was very faint and yet it was able to devote t it. The app is amazing at identifying birds from their photos too.

this is great!. I just signed up for it and took a picture through my window, the bird was immediately identified correctly.. because I already knew what the bird was! Who doesn’t know Blue Jays??! I’m very much looking forward to using this app.

Great bird ID. I’m a wildlife photographer and this is my go to app for finding out info on birds that I am u sure of their breed/species. Only very few it was not able to identify, but that also could have had to do with picture quality.

Picture bird is awesome. Picture bird is great because you can take a photo or record the bird song. If it’s not quite sure it will give you more options and you get to decide. It will give you information on the bird if you scroll down.

only premium is available. it’s too bad I will never get to use this app because you don’t have anything but premium available. It would be nice to be able to try out first at least. But when I click and open, it just wants me to pay money for something I don’t even know if it works. So sad I love the birds So basically, I just like to say it would be even nicer it there were a free version

The Best Bird Identifier Program. Picture Bird has been the perfect resource for my bird photography efforts. It is fast, works well with birds in busy environments, and when I am in a relatively quiet area, I let the program run, and it will identify nearby birds based on their calling patterns. It has been a permanent tool for nearly 3 years, and will continue to be my go to assistant.

Good Info. I have found that most of the bird pictures that I take match what you have in your database and also the sound of the bird is very much the same. This is a great app, and I am enjoying learning about birds of all species.

Excellent App. This app is so easy to use and the photos turn out great. I like the way the app immediately tells the name of the bird and what food they enjoy. Would highly recommend this app. Makes winter more enjoyable feeding the birds and photographing them.

This is great! Let me explain.. I found a bird lying on the ground. It’s still young, and I couldn’t identify it until now. I thank you deeply for this. I’m planning to take care of this bird. The diet, and territory is listed here, which is great. To the people who are willing to try this app, consider this review as a “yes, you should” 😁

Taking photos. I love this app but I have yet to identify a bird with the camera. Don’t get me wrong, cardinals, woodpeckers, nuthatches and finches. I can never identify what I think are sparrows. My camera just can’t get a great picture of the birds. Too close and I scare them off. Our background blends into the feeders or shrubs. Thank you

Great app. I use the free version and it has helped identify birds in my walks even in Hawaii! As long as you can get an ok picture quickly!! And if the only bird you see is singing. It does ID different birds sometimes….so a little detective work may be necessary. But I love it!!
