Beate. Amazing app! But there’s just 2 problems. I wish you had the option to turn on or off friend requests. The second issue is that there’s this one user that you might want to look into. Her name is Beate, from Germany and her profile is a picture of her in front of a candle or a candle next to her. She’s just really critical and seems like she’s mad that she doesn’t get enough likes on posts. Other than that, I’d love the way you took the time to read this like how most people wouldn’t. But if you could tell Beate to just accept my friend request that would be very great. And she just ignores the request I’ve tried it like 5 times already and am still trying but she just well refuses to accept the request requested. Thanks.

Over sold with bugs. People give me house plants. Some arrive identified, some I can identify, and some are mysteries. I was hoping to solve the mysteries. I went online and read reviews of plant ID apps, and this one sounded like it was the right one with 600,000 species, and an easy interface. That wasn’t my experience. I started with some common succulents. Unfortunately the app failed miserably. So, I gave it something easy. Success! It correctly identified aloe. Not really a victory. So, I moved on to more tropical plants. The app did great, and was able to identify all of them with a little effort. A big issue is that the app appears to crash every time I decline an identification, and occasionally when I save an identification. To keep it working I had to force close the app every time and launch it again. Then, the lawn care ad that is disguised as more information on the photographed plant was very annoying. The monthly subscription is pushed fairly hard. I was browsing the features of the app, and almost gave up because of how often I was redirected to a page to sign up for premium service. I hadn’t even figured out the free app, and I was irritated by the premium upgrade. I did identify a mystery plant that has eluded identification for 17 years, a great success. Yet, the app still failed to meet my expectations.

Hold on to this app!. I’ve had pictures it couldn’t identify, but I’ve had plenty it has identified. I believe the only reason it may not pull up what you are looking for is the image of the plant isn’t being identified correctly on our part while taking the picture. Was very amazed after searching on google for a tree near my home, couldn’t find it, and pulled this app out and gave it another chance, it identified it immediately! Not a very common tree, and it had an amazing image and a ton of background info on it.

I’ve been looking for this app all my life!. As a certified plant freak, I love to spend my time wandering the lands observing different buds, blooms and leaves. The problem was I didn’t know what most of them were and found it hard to keep a clean record of all the ones I loved and would like to plant or research one day. Now I have found my ultimate tool!!! I am so excited about this app. I purchased the premium service so I could look at the snaps taken around the world and I can’t stop looking and learning! So worth it. Thank you for creating this wonderful database for all us plant freaks out there. This will continue to be an invaluable tool for me as a sustainable design and landscape architecture grad student.

Disappointed. I spend a lot of time hiking and learning new plants. I enjoy learning about wild edibles and wildflowers among other things. I also enjoy learning about the need to prioritize the preservation of wildlife habitat. The app sounds like a good idea. However this app has completely failed. For example I have just recently taken clear photos of blooming common chickweed and the abundant golden ragwort. The app does not correctly identify either. Moreover it provides a list of potential alternatives that are also incorrect. The app does nothing to promote the Id of wild invasives such as garlic mustard that are ruining the ecosystem. The app sends lots of emails soliciting upgrades to the fee version. This is not surprising considering that the free version does not work at all. Do not bother with this app and do yourself a favor and read Peterson’s wild edible plants books and Rachel Carson’s A Silent Spring.

Wow!! New hobby! LOL. Ok I was skeptical but I am a real person and this app really works. LOL Like most people, I buy plants then forget what I bought. I have used it to identify 5 personal plants and one camera roll pic that I took while traveling out of state. I was able to say with confidence that the app gave me an accurate result on each. The fern was a little tricky but that’s a tough one. My fiancé also tried, failed and gave up. Haha I tried to inform him (without gloating) that he simply didn’t give it a chance. Here are my tips: 1.) Feel free to lift branches/reposition flowers to put the plant in an ideal position. That way you are sure to get flowers and leaves in the same shot. 2.) Do not expect the result preview to be the same color/size as your exact plant. (My fiancé’s mistake. Hehe) Keep in mind that plants come in several varieties. A quick google search can help you narrow results and find your exact variation for confirmation. 3.) SAVE!! Once you find your winner, don’t forget to save the result. I plan to use mine to make plant name tags so my visitors can enjoy knowing more about the beauty they are seeing. Happy Trails!

Very very fun app, but some minor technical issues. For a while I’ve been using this app to upload plant pics and plant identification, and I made a bunch of friends from there, I was having a lot of fun posting pictures until a day or two ago I logged into PlantSnap and it wouldn’t stop loading no matter what I did. I tried redoing my Wi-Fi multiple times and reloading the app. At this point I even tried deleting the app and re-downloading it, but it didn’t work. I’ve heard of multiple friends on PlantSnap having these sort of technical issues, and they were able to restart their whole account to get back into PlantSnap, but they lost all of their progress. I tried to delete the app and re-download, and it is still loading. I’ve lost all hope and my pictures with and beautiful community with it. 😫

Not as Helpful as I had hoped. I just downloaded this to replace a more expensive plant identifying app. I like that this app doesn’t force you to pay, before it’s at all useful, but I haven’t had luck with identifying any of my handful of plant babies thus far. I do like the Botanist feature to send off for identification, but have not received those results as of yet, so could improve my overall option on the current version. I love the concept so much, if only they’re providing accurate, helpful results. Also, my collection should be one of the quick tabs. Not hidden. I’d rather have that, versus the community tab.

More like Plant Crap. Update: I use this app every now and then to see if it can help identify a plant but most times it’s wrong and searching on google usually gives me a lot better results. I stick to what I said. The app is decent, DECENT, at best and doesn’t deserve anything above two stars. As for the developers of this app, they DO NOT take constructive criticism from consumers well. In turn they rather leave passive aggressive comments instead of improving their sub par app. All of us from the plant community appreciate your efforts but we’d rather not hear back until your app is in working market condition. Appreciate your feedback but again... NEXT. Another update: If you see any positive feedback for this app, more than likely it was made by the developer. The reviews that state this app works, are clearly just the developer trying to put good reviews to outweigh the bad. Don’t waste your time with it, trust all the bad reviews.... the app is terrible at identifying. I use the app ‘PICTURE THIS’, isn’t the best but does a heck of a lot better job at identifying than Plant Snap.

Update. I bought the app for the entire year because I fell in love with the way it used to be. After this update I do not enjoy using it at all before I was able to scan a plant and it pulled it up now I have to take multiple pictures of the plant because it’s not registering, I used to love how once I scan the picture it brought up a paragraph about the plant the species of the plant now the different sections are making this interface a little confusing and. I used to love using the app on my walks because it made it enjoyable how simple and fast it was now with this new complex update I honestly feel like it was very unnecessary because you guys had a beautiful clean well organized app why fix what wasn’t broken.? I wish there was a way I could revert it back to what I actually paid for.

Worthless. Downloaded this app and paid for premium. Asked it to identify three simple plants on my front porch in northern New England. It identified all three as South American shrubs. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Don’t waste your money. Update: PlantSnap contacted me tonight to tell me the issue was my fault, and I should contact their customer support to get trained on how to frame the picture. Ironically in the meantime I downloaded Picture This (another plant ID app) and took pictures of the multiple plants in my yard. Picture This got the plants correct 6 for 6 including the three I had previously tried with PlantSnap. Apparently I can frame pictures just fine. Based on the condescending customer service response I’d give this a zero star if I could. BTW - I asked for a refund of my premium payment but so far they’re ignoring that request.

So crappy. Worst app ever. I took perfect pictures several times from multiple angles I have never once gotten a proper result. I clicked submit to be identified...... they want to charge me to use the app. 🤔 you are suspect. I proceeded to do a simple google search with a simple description. Boom 💥 popped up with the correct results on the 1st try. I do not recommend this app don’t waste your $. This is my updated review after developers response. The app is still garbage 🗑. I am reading between the lines with your response now because you don’t object the the fact that if you paid for the app it would work better. Therefore you are a scam app. I tried so many times to work with this app. I even tried it on layup plants that a 3 year old could identify and they still got it wrong. Very suspect practices going on over at plant snap.

Had for years & now they want me to “start free trial”.. *Update ~ PlantSnap contacted me and I figured out how to get to my old “snaps” without the free trial. Turns out, there is a VERY faint “cancel” in the the upper right hand corner of the “free trial” screen. Thank you for getting back to me PlantSnap, I will continue using and enjoying this app. Note ~ I tried another app and didn’t like it at all. I’ve enjoyed this app for at LEAST five years. Evidently it’s been revamped and now I can’t even access my old “snaps.” It’s always been nice to go back to remind me what a certain plant was called. It has needed room for improvement, but I just don’t want to pay for something that was working just fine for me already. So frustrated! I guess I’ll be looking for a different app now.

I had my hopes up. . . . .. I live in the Midwest and have been wanting to begin a photographic project to catalog and identify wildflowers, trees, bushes, etc. around my rural property. I am no botanist, so need help in plant identification. My landscaping plants have come from a local nursery, so I have nothing exotic. Well, I saw this app and was very excited. It was just what I was looking for, plant ID and the ability to receive more information on each plant. Well, I have tried it on approximately 25 plants. It has identified TWO correctly. It identified my recently-purchased birch trees as POISON IVY! My sister-in-law is quite knowledgeable and has helped me. And, of course, I know what I have purchased from the local nurseries, so I am confident in saying that the app results have not been accurate. In most cases, the suggestions have not even a faint resemblance to the actual plant! And it’s not the quality of the photos!!! They are crystal clear. The app has been a total disappointment. I don’t know how others are having such success. I, for one, find it useless.

Waste of Money!!!. First I accidentally hit the $39 option to buy this instead of the 7 day trial option. Ok, figured it’d probably be worth it in the end so I accepted my mistake. A few days later I had the chance to chill in nature so opened the app for the first time. Recognized my first mushroom so I was excited. Tried identifying several more species of plant & mushroom to NO AVAIL!!! Error messages kept appearing saying can’t identify, then eventually it says I must further unlock the app to take more than 5 snaps per day. How in the heck are you charging ppl $40 then addition $10 for ad free version???!!!!! The lifetime $39 should include ad free allowing unlimited photo snaps!!! I sure wish I could get a dang refund!!!!! This app is a rip off and needs to be reported….. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GET A BETTER PERFORMING PLANT APP FOR LESS MONEY!!!!! I am extremely upset with this entire ordeal, ugh!!!!!

Don’t waste money on Pro version. At times PlantSnap accurately identifies plants, especially “easy” ones. In my experience, though, it gets it right only half the time. I know this because it has misidentified plants I already knew and other times it was clear from leaf or flower structure or color that the app was in error. This is also true of other plant apps. My biggest complaint is this: I paid for Pro and got nothing for it. I bought it on my iPhone phone but it wouldn’t upgrade on my iPad. I sent in several pictures to their experts for identification and not once got a response. I wrote to them 3 times and received nothing but an automated response. They promise good service and I got no service. Bad news! If you want the app, take the free version but keep in mind that accuracy is spotty.

Wanted to love it. I really wanted to love this app. I did a lot of research comparing plant identification apps and it seemed to have the best reviews. I’m starting a clinical herbalism course and wanted a fast way to easily identify common plants. I have submitted many over the last month+ to have one of the experts identify (because nothing close to it showed up in the results from the photo). I’ve also sent at least one support request asking for help to get the app to be more accurate and try to find out how to get experts to respond to the requests to help identify and have not received a response. So as hopeful as I was (even recommending it to people 1 day after purchasing), I can say that I would no longer recommend and that I am disappointed in the support/responsiveness and ability to corrected identify a plant. I’ve also watched the tutorial videos to give tips on how to take photos, but it didn’t change my results. Hope others have better experiences than me. If support people read this, could you make a request or explain to me why experts aren’t responding to my questions? Thank you!

Not identifying correctly. The app is fairly intuitive and easy to use. I find the limit on the number of pictures you can take on the free app super obnoxious since it’s full of ads and that is generally where apps differ between free and premium. But the biggest issues is that it is not identifying trees correctly. For many of them, the options listed would have very little similarities (other than having green leaves). And then a pop up would appear suggesting you look at the tutorials, which I did - they were, essentially, useless. Anyone using the app to the point where that pop up would have appeared would have already grasped the fundamentals shown in the tutorial videos. Punchline: really glad I didn’t pay for the premium app.

Premium. I used to like this app even though there were a few plants that it could never find but it works 90% of the time. But as of recently they added a “premium” service and you need it now to look at plant care instructions. It’s saddening to see these developers ruin their apps with ads, premiums and subscriptions. I never expected a plant app to need a subscription or expected anyone to need that. You can literally google instructions for FREE. So now i just maybe find the plant on the app then go to google because I’m not paying premium.

Not helpful for caring for plants. Am I missing something...? It took me a while to identify my first plant. It would be nice if each suggested plant had several pictures, one of a leaf, then one in full bloom or in a pot, instead of just a close-up of one leaf. I actually ended up googling to find my plant. I want to use this to care for my plants but under planting and watering instructions it says the same thing for each plant. Things like, “Consider if they will receive enough sunlight and moisture, is there space for them to grow to their full size, what type of soil do you have and how exposed it will be to the elements?” It doesn’t actually tell you what kind of soil the particular plant you have should have. I don’t get how this is helpful.

On a rating of 0 to 10, 0 being the worst I’ve ever seen, this gets a big fat zero!. If I ever want to get my money back for anything this would definitely be it!! Anything I have put in to identify it is giving me way off-track stuff that has nothing to do with this kind of plant or any kind of plant that I put on here and doesn’t even look like it!! Very disappointed and a waste of money. I will definitely be changing my credit card number so they cannot charge me when the year is up!I’m gonna have to go back to the one that I used before because it was accurate most of the time and, by golly, I am not going to shop around ever again!

Grounds the limit. Although I am pleased with the design of this app only getting like four snaps before I have to wait eight hours to get more is absurd. I mean I shouldn’t have to pay just to get unlimited snaps. Then what’s the point of the app? Also, of course I don’t expect the app to be 100% accurate 100% of the time, but I took a snap of my cilantro and it said it was a green snowdrop or a banana tree (bananas are herbs but I’ll put that aside). What? First of all, those two have nothing in common other than they are both plants. Second of all, it’s clearly a coriandrum (cilantro)! So I really hope the developers fix that or I’m getting a new, better app to find plants. Edit: Ok, first of all, I accidentally snapped my tv when I meant to do it on a plant next to it and I was hoping the app would say that there was no plant identified or whatnot, but it said it was a Tropicana rose. Uhh, I think not. So that was pretty dumb. Anyway, things are pretty much the same with this app I still use it every now and then but I don’t exactly like it.

free but very limited. I was kinda let down while using this app even though it’s pretty simple the mechanics are slightly difficult. there’s a bit of *lagging* when it comes to scrolling or just trying to use the app in general. the features are pretty *limited* to where you can only take *10 pictures every 5 hours* and *ads* pop up from time to time. you can also choose to pay a monthly fee of $2 or a 1 time fee to unlock everything which is about $25. it’s also a struggle that it takes a *few tries for it to actually identify and plant correctly* which leads to you using up the majority of your tries. I hope to see some sort of improvement to when it comes to helping consumers and a nice feature I think should be added on are instructions on how to care for said plant and what region its mainly found in.

Not bad for what it is. I liked that you can see everyone’s post. More so than that you can like, dislike, send commentary on the pictures, report them, etc if need be to admin. The app is very through in that respect. The app wasn’t able to identify my plants specifically but in general it did identify them. It does a better job with flowers than with plants. I didn’t do the free trial because I’m rarely around too many plants but it’s a nice resource to have if you are a lover of plants and flower.

Poor accuracy. There is not very good accuracy on this app. Even in the example photos for search results, there are some pictures included which are clearly a different type of plant. For example pictures of blackberry as examples of a thimbleberry. I encountered this on several different plant example picture sets. One way they could improve results is to select a latitude and longitude for where a picture was located and use that to weight the results. For example reduce the probability that a plant pictured in Oregon is one that is native to a tropical region like Hawaii. Another way to improve is to allow users to set the rough size of the plant: tree, bush, plant, ground cover. I took a picture of a part of a tree to get closer up detail on its flowers and leaves and it was identified as a ground cover. Also the recommendations about growing the plant are not specialized and say: check the light requirements of the plant. Instead of telling you its light requirements.

Beware of fraudulent practice. I got the app to try it out. I was willing to subscribe but wanted to see if it would work for my purposes first, so I initially used just the free features. When I ran out of my daily allotment of snaps, it offered 5 additional snaps for a price or 3 additional snaps in exchange for watching ads. I chose the ads. After watching, it still said I was out of snaps and made me the same offer. I watched their ads four times and never received additional snaps. This app is enticing people to watch ads and receiving ad revenue without providing the promised benefit. That amounts to fraud in my book. For that alone they deserve no stars, but I did give two stars since it seemed to work okay during my limited trial.

Does not work. I’m a photographer so I know how to take a decently framed and properly lit photograph. I have built ground truth databases for face recognition and other biometrics. The same principles are applicable to plant identification. Good ground truth and eliminate the false positives. I have made many attempts to ID plants and it has failed miserably. And now I see that they are pushing a social networking experience for their app. I think they should spend their money developing the capture side of the app and get that right. I love the concept and was excited to use it but it’s not ready for prime time. Sorry.

Mediocre app, atrocious developers. I was excited to first use this app and even looked at tutorials to try and get it to identify plants better but in the end I have to agree with almost everyone else and say that this app doesn’t work as it should even when “used properly” the developer team just copies and pastes responses to the reviews and are very passive aggressive, and claim to be here to help but in reality they just want to appear like they are ready to help, but in fact have no desire to fix their mediocre identification app OR to help people “properly use” the app, they are all about appearances and want to give the illusion that they are doing -anything- the bad reviews are right, and if you take a look at the developer responses to them, you’ll see a pattern of rude deflection without tackling any real issues it’s basically just “our app works, you’re not using it right, we can’t help you use it right if you don’t taaalk to us” well people have tried, left their reviews, and done their part, the only problem left is the actual developers not thinking they did any wrong and telling others it’s their fault. This app and the makers are NOT EVEN WORTH THE TIME. Move along to ‘picture this’ at least that one can’t identify simple herbs.

Different results. Sometimes the app is right on, like identifying flowers, usually. But quite often snaps of leaves show a different plant if I take more than a couple identifying photos! I've gotten 3 different descriptions from 3 different snaps of the same plant! I'll take a few more photos when the description looks nothing like the actual plant. Hope more versions will correct this. Just moved to a different area with plants I'm not familiar with. Luckily it's only a mild curiosity, not lifesaving information I need! Otherwise, keep up the good work. I like using the app.

Not accurate. I raved about this app when I first got it, and got many other people to start using it. With that being said, the inaccuracy of this app is appalling. I travel a lot for work, and love learning about local flora for my own knowledge. It was able to find the basics usually, but so can google. Out of the last 15 times I’ve used this app, the suggestions it gave me for the plants I took a picture of were not even remotely close to what the actual plant was, even on obvious plants which I knew the identity of. Very disappointing for something you pay for weekly/monthly. I was by testing other apps in the hopes that they actually can do what is advertised. Note, I almost never leave negative reviews on anything, but this one frustrated me as you pay for quality, and receive nothing of the sort.

Totally off. I tried to get this app to identify 5 different plants, even though I knew what they were. This app got them all WRONG!!! UPDATE: I was sent an email with developer response to my review, saying that "tens of millions of people use PlantSnap every day with great success" & "to frame the photo properly" & "Do you want to update your review?" So this is my update. I have used 2 other plant identifier apps, taking snapshots all in the same way. This app was the only one that identifies incorrectly. The other 2 apps (Plant Identify & Picture This) were exactly correct on the identification of the plant (on 5 different plants). Because I already knew what the plants were. And that was just a test on the accuracy of the apps. I took the same exact snapshot for each app. Maybe this app should be updated in order to work better?

I don’t think I can live without PlantSnap. I downloaded PS a while back and used it here and there. Then I purchased with the annual fee. I use it when I forget what I planted. I use it in my walks to identify interesting plants I see then to decide whether I want to purchase them for my garden. I’m a photographer and one of my post-processing steps is to identify flowers I’ve photographed so that I can label them. It’s one of the best apps I use. It just keeps getting better and better.

Fantastic app!. This is a fantastic app, and for those with a little patience, an incredible resource. Because of the diversity in nature, it is naive to expect any app to look at a picture and identify a plant species with 100% accuracy; however, I have had incredible success by changing the angles of my pictures and taking a little extra time to scroll through the result options. I loved the temporary campaign that ran during Mother’s Day that identified the endangered plant species and would be thrilled if that became a permanent feature.

Don’t waste your time. I was excited to see an app to detect plants and identify them appropriately. Now, I understand the challenges in designing the algorithms to correctly identify shapes of the foliage, leaf pattern, veins, etc, which is why it provides a list of similar plants. Cool, I can sort through the list. The problems: 1. This app has never been able to detect any plants aside from those that are obvious. I wouldn’t waste my money on upgrading based on how terribly the app functions. 2. The free version is a joke, full of ads and restrictions - don’t waste your time. 3. When attempting to use the app today, it was only full of errors and could not detect the plant. Once the list showed up, there were no photos or additional information on the plants and I had to resort to Google to try to find photos and info of the plants on the list. 4. App saves all images to my photos. I’m assuming there’s a setting to prevent this but not going to waste any more time on this app. I don’t want every single photo saved to my phone. Ask me if I want to save the photo instead of automatically saving it. 5. An app like this should have capability for self-learning so every user helps eventually add new plants to the database. I’ve given this app the benefit of the doubt for quite a few months and it hasn’t improved even a bit. If anything, it’s gotten worse. Deleting the app. Great idea, poor execution.

It’s never accurate. This app is almost never right and always says it’s some tropical plant. I feel like it should suggest more plants that grow up north and not only tropical ones. Sometimes the answers are so wrong it’s ridiculous. I’m very disappointed in this app and it has so many good reviews I don’t understand how all these people are having good experiences with this app when I’m getting the complete opposite. I think they should change it so it’s not always so rare and or tropical. This app is not for people who live up north where we don’t have all these fancy things. Based on the reviews this app did not lead up to my expectations. I’m just overall very disappointed.

Better than nothing, I guess. I installed this app because I couldn't find a way to identify a plant that was given to me by Googling it. It did eventually work--the mystery plant is called diffenbachia--but it took multiple attempts to get that far, and the app incessantly reminded me all the while that I only have a limited number of free snaps before I would have to pay. The app was completely unable to identify my bamboo. I can't give it one star, because it works (eventually), but I can't justify any more than two because of all the bloat (that useless tutorial did not help me take better photos and was a complete waste of time) and the frustration in getting the pictures taken successfully. There's something very irritating about the app circling leaves, inviting me to explore them, returning zero relevant results, and then ticking down my remaining number of free pictures, all before I've pressed the picture button.

Bestest. I started using this app about 6 months ago and it did ok with identifying my plants. I recently started using it again because I found it was more accurately identifying plants (tested at nurseries and such). The love the app design putting the camera ID button in an easy to find place so I can quickly ID those useless "hi, I'm a plant" labels in the big box stores. I love the photo and note journaling capabilities so I can chronicalize my plants journey through life. The water and fertilizing tracking and notifications are great since you have the option to either use their seasonal calculations based on the plant species, or set it up manually. I've used some of the genus-specific soil recipes that it offers and they have worked well for my plants.

Informative. I’ve really enjoy using this app. I’m beginning to recognize plants by their foliage/greenery leaves and actually getting them correct! Also, I have a plant (tree palm) that was just dumped on me and the only information I was given was that it was 24 yrs old. & it was huge palm in need of attention… but I knew nothing more about it. This app has helped me care for so many of my plants. I bought 2 plants to lighten up my house after my abusive ex left and now I can’t get enough of them but I’ve also learned valuable information by this app about outdoor weeds/greenery and etc. Such as poison ivy and some of the other toxic plants that should be avoided. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS APP!

Just some trouble but still helpful!!. I downloaded this app because I brought home a handful of plants that didn’t have proper identification cards or “how to care for” slips like there usually do when you buy them at the garden center, and yes i will admit that this app helped me identify one of the mystery plants and gave me relatively good info and care tips but I just noticed when trying to identify the other plants they always pop up as something completely different (Ex: One plant is just grows basic oval shaped leaves and has no budding that would indicate flower or fruit growth- but when going through the app its labeled as a type of flower a succulent and even a Venus Flytrap) I know it’s difficult to be able to identify one simple plants when there is literally billions of plant species but some of the options just didn’t tie up with the actual plant- maybe something is bugging out with the camera? Maybe the app just needs a little run through and tune up! Other than that I think this app can be very helpful when you need to identify some plants!

Can’t identify trees & they sell your info. I tried multiple times to identify a tree taking photos of the leaves, and each time it gave different wrong answers for the same tree, even using the same photo. Tried following the video tutorials and the written instructions, and it didn’t work. Next, I signed in using my email, and I have all of a sudden been getting random spam emails that I was not getting before today, and it started within an hour of first signing interior this app, so they apparently sell your email right away. Not happy with this app, and warn you not to give away your information like this. There is enough junk email out there, without needed no to get more just to try to identify one or two trees.

Usually never write reviews but this app is worth one.. I had the same idea for this app to snap and I’d flora &fauna back with iPhone 3 and so glad that others had it too to make it possible. Been using this app for a few days and it’s great, some times some IDs get mess up even if you follow the instructions but it’s definitely not broken like some people have been committing and like any computers recognition software there’s never always 100% but if you take another pic of a different sister flower or leaf you’ll get it at least 9/10 times what your looking for. An ideas to make it more interactive is to have & earn badges that you can collect when you find and snap different species and maybe even colors. kind of like a Pokédex style.

Overrated and inaccurate. Way too inaccurate for it to be considered as anything serious to work with. First, the “free” version allows you only 10 tries a day. Not bad, I thought. But when I had to try 3 times to identify a simple house palm plant, and 2 tries to identify a fishtail palm (it can’t get any easier to identify a tree than a fishtail palm due to its unique leaves), I realized that on just 2 plants I wasted 5 of my 10 wishes! Plus 1 rose and 1 Narcissus, 7 out of 10 tries gone in 10 minutes! Meanwhile, the ads did not miss a beat. Talk about bombardment. So, if you’re going for a hike, curb your enthusiasm or cough up $15 a year! They simply put a beta version out to make some money with the ads and lure in the users with a loose purse. Not worth the frustration of trial and error,...error,...error!

Doesn't seem accurate so far. I'm going to continue to use this and reserve final judgment until later. However, at least half of the suggested identifications do not appear correct to me. And, this includes both the primary recommendations and all of the alternates. Unfortunately, since I am relying on the app to identify the plants for me, I can't be 100% sure that what I am assessing as incorrect are not just normal variations in the plant appearance. I certainly understand the limitations of image-recognition technology and do not fault the app developers for my experience so far. Perhaps I am just snapping rather obscure plants. In any event, I will return later to update this review and my rating if my ongoing experience warrants that.

Scam. I never leave reviews but I’ve used this app a ew times and although it identified my plant halfway (it didn’t really identify the plant to be honest) I felt like it was a scam or some foreign organization trying to obtain my information. In this day and age you can’t be too careful so I chose to delete the app. The instructional video in a foreign language the way they send you an email with multiple links urging you to click them and the title of the email saying PLEASE READ in all caps... what app does this?! None that I’ve seen. However I have seen these in the warning video that my company sends out about internet scammers... so hey if I were you I would use another plant app this one just seems too sketchy and it doesn’t even work perfectly.

Almost 5 stars!. I thought the app was really good except I couldn’t tell if people were posting on the app to identify their plants like I was or if they were just posting their beautiful plants/flowers. Which is fine to post and all because they are wonderful to look at I was just a little confused about that part. The other part is when I snapped the plant I wanted to identify I only got 2 selections, neither of which were mine. At least I don’t believe so. So maybe it was my plant or maybe people need more of a selection to choose from. Other than that, loved it. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Also if it was in my budget I’d get a subscription.

It’ll get you close!. I docked a star for rarely getting the plant correct as the first option but usually having it on the list of other options somewhere down the line. More on that and the reason for the second star I docked. One identification told me my plant (my fault for not knowing my own plants 😅) was a zamioculcas zamiifolia. But then I found in a google search my specific ZZ is a zenzi. So I searched zenzi in the app and found that it’s not anywhere in the app. So while this is an excellent start and well worth the $1 a month (first 3 months) some more info needs to be entered from the farmer’s almanac. 😁 Actually I’m gonna add another star because it is super helpful. Eh. To hell with it! 5 stars! Hahaha I’m a push over! This app is amazing actually. I wouldn’t know what I had in front of me without it. Fair’s fair. Thanks so much!

Simple and Easy to Use. This is a cute little app for anyone who is obsessed with plants and always wants to share it with friends but hey if your friends don’t want to hear about it, here’s your app. You can add people and check out their plants and go wild. UI is simple and the green shades are a nice color scheme. It can identify plants though that may need some tweaking, but if the AI can’t immediately get it then you always have the community to ask. Settings were also simple to find - sometimes it’s hard to find and change your email and password in a lot of apps but this one is simple.

Bombarded with pop ups.. has huge potential. I was really excited for this because of all of the opportunities this type of application could provide for both education and hobby. Right after downloading it I tried taking three basic photos and all of them were in accurate which I’m sure can happen with the thousands of different species out there. What bothered me was the endless pop ups and ads trying to get me to upgrade before I even spent 30 seconds in the app after having it for five minutes I’m deleting it and will try other ones hopefully they can improve on this

Don’t waste your money. Had three plants to identify, all the same plant. Couldn’t wait to use this app to identify the plants my kiddos planted and that we all forgot what they were. This app ended up being such a let down. It kept matching my plant image with plants that didn’t look anything like it. As a photographer, I know how to take photos and understood exactly what the app needed to identify the plant. I paid to upgrade so I could submit the photo to the professionals to identify it and still haven’t heard back - it’s been over a month. What a waste of money. I asked a neighbor with a little more plant knowledge than I had, which isn’t much and he knew instantly what it was. I confirmed his guess with google in less than 2 minutes. Cancelled my monthly subscription and can’t help but feel taken a bit.

Adding plants to collection. I found it extremely hard to figure out how to add a plant to your collection. After emails back and forth with the company, I was finally able to figure it out. You have to identify the plant, then actually click on the plant name (Not the picture of the plant) and THEN you can add the plant to your collection. There should be a “add plant” button easily accessible. No where on the app does it say “click on the plant name to add to be able to your collection.” So how is one to figure that out? I was going crazy trying to get it to work. Shouldn’t be that hard. The rest of the app is simple and easy to use. Also it misidentified a plant. I tried three or four times and it wasn’t right. So I tried another app and it identified it correctly first time. It was just a simple iceplant. Still happy with the app overall.

Plant Snap Review. This sounds brilliant so I downloaded the app. First attempt was with a plant I know and love well, just to get a feel for the app. Unfortunately it identified a bog standard pink and purple fuschia as something entirely different and my second attempt at the same plant brought up adverts for artificial turf experts. I can’t recommend this app and am very disappointed after reading the recommendations from other people

PlantSnap. Very good app and easy to use. I recommend it to my friends and family. Cheers.

Don’t bother it’s useless. Have used this app as a professional many times, it’s wrong on 9/10 identifications. Only useful for the most basic plants or to get an idea of the species of basic plants. Never any feedback on plants you ask to be identified. It’s pathetic, don’t bother.

Hugely Amusing. Tried it on Ficus Benjamina: one the most recognisable plants there is. It suggested everything from Begonia to Chestnut .... sorry, but AI just doesn’t come anywhere near humans yet, based on this example.

Needs a bug fix. Issues with it not opening up. As i see the plant snap logo but then it goes back to home screen

Question. Hi, I’m using this app to teach my child plant types, the only thing is,, she can’t read yet. Is there anyway that the app actually speaks to us when it has identified a plant species?

Good app. I’d like to thank everyone involved in creating this great app, it may need a little fine tuning, but it's a great app.

So helpful. This app has been brilliant! Moved to a new place with a large garden. No idea what most the plants were until I started using this app. So so helpful!!!

Great learning tool. Helps educate you on your garden.

Hit and miss!. Incorrect identification on many plants. Party due to individual users uploading more than one pic of similar flowers. It all gets lumped under one title, which is very misleading for beginners. Luckily, I’m not and can tell the difference! App does NOT give Individual plant advice on how to care for it. Its the exact same write up, general info about plant keeping. Tells you to consider the sun, doesn’t tell you what that plant prefers. Tells you to consider frost hardiness, but doesn’t tell you that plant’s rating! Allows members to upload images of their view? Why? And no Captain if what type of plant they are showing.. and no option from the app to then try and identify what it is. Maybe ask members to give the name/ common name if they know what it is, for example field mushroom, or silver birch tree? Food for thought.

Don’t bother.. Paid for full subscription. Doesn’t get any plant correct. Waste of money very disappointed.

Nice. This app is not something I use everyday but as someone who really loves plants, it’s great to be able to whip it out every once a while and find the name and type of something I see and love. The app will give you a range of options to choose from based on your photo and when you select them they will tell you the basic facts about them. I find this is good if you want to see whether you should grow it or not. If I do think it would be good with my garden and weather, then I can search the name up on the internet. I would recommend it as a nice app to have for those occasions when you want to be a bit more mindful or your surroundings.

Far from accurate. Far from accurate

Plantsnap. I think I like Plantsnap, but each time I take a photo,it comes up with a different result!

Could do much better. Great idea but some major limitations. The auto ID is not very good at all. First suggestion would be to include the ability to use location to reduce the options of possible species. I live in Australia. I now realise that this app seems to be mostly USA focused. Allow multiple photos when posting to the forum.

Pathetic app. It’s a pathetic app, I’m getting 4 different names to the same plant with different photos. Can’t be worse than this. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this as its an absolute waste of time.

Such a useful app!. Really enjoy this app and the quick access to information about the plants I find around me. I have been able to identify wildflowers, trees and supposed weeds!

Pretty good. I’ve used this app for a while and while it’s not 100% accurate, It’s very useful. You really need to focus on a single flower without the leaves and make sure there’s a lot of light. Highly recommend!

How do I cancel app?. Hi, how do I cancel this subscription? I accidentally clicked on it without realising there was a cost involved and I would like to cancel the app but I am unsure how. Please help. Thanks

Good app. I took a picture of a banksia that I knew, and it got the species correct first try.

Design flaw. The app opened a suggestion page for me to check out other peoples pictures but the cross to close this page was underneath the status bar so it couldn’t work. This suggestion page could never be closed! I have an iPhone11

Disappointing. Unfortunately, I found this app to be very disappointing. I tested it out on plant species I already knew to challenge the accuracy. It failed miserably. Of the ten “snaps” I took, (your daily limit without paying) it was correct once on the first try. Sadly it lacks the ability to specify the part of the plant you have photographed. The addition of this might make it more accurate. Furthermore, it drained the battery incredibly fast, I used 20% of my battery in 5 minutes. Lastly, in that 5 minutes I saw 3 ads and 2 requests to rate the app.

My experience. Not always accurate😔 Tagged some plants for ID. App said they’d be sent to their botanists for ID back in early April - haven’t had a response. Paid for the upgrade - disappointed with service!

Wrong plants. I tried it on some plants I didn’t know and it showed me a whole different plant that didn’t look like it at all and when I tried it on mint it said it was tabacco.

Punches above its weight. This app makes it real easy to be in the field an remain informed on what plant, what problems and how to care for plants. Somewhat limited on Australian natives but otherwise pretty accurate.

Not accurate at ALL!. I took some photos of some plants I knew the name of and once loaded. It came up with totally different names with completely different plants. Do not recommend this app waste of time and effort.

Amazing. Honestly one of the best apps I have

Karic151. I’ve had limited experience with the app so far, but it has correctly identified two very unusual flowers for me. I’ve previously used two other apps with totally mistaken results, so I’m thrilled to have discovered this one. This was recommended by a friend who has also been highly satisfied, particularly with the results regarding Australian natives.

Very Poor Results. I have tried the app but felt disappointed with it. I tried 6 very common indoor plants and it didn’t recognise any of them. I won’t be using this one.

I love ❤️ plants. I love the way you can identify plants in just seconds 👍✌️❤️🌲🌱🍀🍃🌵🌳🌿🎍🌴☘️🎋

Wil from Wallington Australia. Love the app.. helpful for me being a landscaper... cheers...

Fantastic app but sadly now to expensive. I have used this for the last four or five years and it is amazing. It is not very intuitive and it took me a while to work out how to see the alternative possibilities. Sadly, it is no longer free and as an old man on pension watching every cent, I cannot afford it, especially as I only used it a couple of times a year so it is goodbye, but I was really impressed by the depth of the database as it correctly identified a plant only growing in a very limited area of Australia

Waste of money!. I’m so profoundly disappointed!! It’s not a cheap app and my first test plant (a basic snake plant) could not be identified (yes it has many names but it came up with odd options). I’m mad at myself for being taken in by the well written information about the app! Very disappointing!

Hit and Miss. Sometimes it’s great, particularly good with flowers. Other times it gives absurd responses. I’ve tested it out on plants I know and it will give REALLY incorrect answers, no matter how perfect the photograph. Don’t expect it to be able to recognise leaves! Don’t take the results for absolute truth, always do further research. I do really like how it tells you straight away if a plant is toxic to people or animals. This has helped with moving into a new house a lot.

Great. impressive and quick

Australian natives. Appears that the app has trouble recognising Australian natives - at least in my Melbourne garden.

Only If you want to be spammed for the rest of your life!. Deleted the app after it stopped being free. Still being spammed with emails and cannot unsubscribe. don’t give it your email!

Unfortunately mostly incorrect. Maybe It gets one out of 10 correct which is disappointing for true money I paid for it and what I was hoping to use it for

No free option anymore?. I don’t use it enough to make it worth me paying for it. Wasn’t that accurate anyway. So I have parted company with you. Guess won’t use any app now as none have a free option. If I used any of them a lot would be worth it but I don’t

Struggles to identify very common plants. As the title states this app struggles to identify the most basic and common plants. Gives a massive range of plants when identifying, some of which don’t even look like the plant pictured. Very rarely come up with the correct plant.

Great app. Like a Pokédex but for blooms, plants etc... it’s great. Not 100% all the time but it’s very close! I’m studying to become a florist so this app is a great tool to help me identify and learn on the go. It is limited asking you to sign up for certain features but I find you can get by easily with a normal account.

Free version is limited to 5 photos per day. It identified 3 out of 5 plants From my back yard. I’m not that impressed, but will try it again in a year or so. Hopefully it gets better.

Didn’t get a single plant correct. I signed up for the free trial and experimented with a bunch of different indoor/outdoor plants, from many angles and in different lighting conditions. It got it spectacularly wrong every time, to the point where I wondered if maybe the AI had developed a wicked sense of humour - it had to be doing it d for a laugh. So…canceled.

Very Disappointing. Unfortunately, I assumed the paid version would have been better than the free version. I was very wrong. I have not had one correct identification. I honestly think Googling something you have found will work better. Very disappointed.

Not working for me we. I have taken photos of my garden plants but u don’t find names or the cures for the diseases that affects them

So frustrating -95% of time wrong. The concept is great but the results for Australian plants are abysmally wrong. I have to search through my Sydney plant book to identify correctly so not sure what I paid for. Is it just because of where I am living?

Wrong Plant name.. We have often found that we are given the wrong name of the correct plant we have taken photo of! Why is this so??We pay for the subscription we would expect simple name as well as the genius the family and of course the botanical name please help us?

Great app. The results are so quick and accurate. No more wondering what my flowers in the bee mix are.

Ware of time. I tried it on 10 different plants and it only recognised one a rose and then it wants you to pay to send them the images of the ones it doesn’t recognise if I could give it minus five I would

Excellent App for learning about plants and flowers. Wow! I was really surprised. This app is great and very easy to use. I have learned so much about my Australian native garden. Highly Recommended!

Doesn’t work. I gave the app 2 different photos of the same tree and it gave me 2 different names.🤦🏼‍♀️

Garbage. I have a receipt from Apple that says that I paid for it. Very unfriendly to use. I hate signing to use it. So I’m deleting it. And the only times I tried it, the results were wrong. Can I give it zero stars?

Zero stars. I tested this app with simple plants - this app could not identify an aloe vera plant, chain of pearls or even a snake plant. I certainly wouldn’t trust it to identify more complex plants. I would get my money back if I could.

I was not able to find a suggestion that looks remotely similar to what I was taking a picture of. I’ve spent 10 minutes trying to find a species of plant that looks similar to my cacti, and within the 10 minutes I didn’t find one suggestion that was close to what my cacti. Did this on a dandelion I and The closest I got was a sunflower.

Doesn't work. Sad

Annoying subscription interface doesn’t allow to use the app. I’ve been enjoying this app for a while until very recently. I am no longer able to use it. Anytime I open it the subscription interface appears without any ability to close it and continue with the free app. Extremely annoying and very unfair. Sent a message to technical support, hopefully I will get some answers or rectification. If not, bye-bye Plant Snap.

Bought one thing and got something better!. This app fails on promised plant care and feeding but the associated online community shows promise as my best app in years and leadsuntold new friends who are happe to help.

Just garbage. Didn't think it would be any good but thought maybe I'd give it a shot. I had the app 5 minutes before deleting it and you will too but you've just read this and probably a few other reviews so really you've wasted 5 minutes on them already so just don't download it. It's garbage. There's no other way to put it :)

Pretty much useless.. I would estimate that approximately 80% of the time the plant is incorrectly identified even from good detailed photos.

Tricked into 1 year. I clicked in for a 7 day trial and somehow was changed for a full year. Now I am told I am ineligible for a refund with no reason. Seems like a cool app but I wanted a trial not a year.

It not free !!!. What a farce.. my mounting distrust of plant identifiers developers their sales gimmicks and lies forces me to write this warning to plant enthusiasts who might not read the fine print . Insulting . ..deceptive .. buzz kill thx Plantsnapped !!

Paid for Premium but Don’t Have It. Update: Still do not have access to premium version. Sent another email and still no response from developer (other than their auto “canned” email reply). Their customer service sucks, to say the least! Do not download this app. I paid an annual fee for the premium version in June 2021 and the app says that I have the premium version however, I still have advertisements and am limited to 5 photos. I’ve sent numerous messages to Plantsnap. All I get is an automated reply with no followup to actually solve the issue!

Garbage. Absolute garbage just spyware doesn’t identify anything and when it does its wrong

Why are you data mining?. Thought this app was about plants … not my personal information. Very Disappointed in You!

Wouldn’t recommend. Nothing loads. Not impressed.

Gifted subscription not honoured. I was gifted a subscription. The link did not work and no support has been provided.

How do i cancel the subscription?. It doesn’t meet my needs. I just downloaded today. I want to cancel and get my 20$ back. How do i do this?

Waste of money. I want a refund. This app is a joke. Took three pictures of the same plant and got three entirely different answers. Took a picture of a lilac in bloom and it was identified as dianthus. Don’t waste you money

Not paying. Not signing up for a trial when none of these plan apps can even get it the right identification.

Other much better apps. Limit on how many you can ID a day without subscription, and I’ve found the accuracy to be very poor compared to other apps

Not really accurate. Every picture I took was an incorrect label. Even Christmas cactus was incorrect.

Déçue !. Cette application ne reconnaît pas bien les plantes du tout. Je lui montre une plante arrangée et elle ne donne en résultat, une Aloes !!! Je me suis vite désabonné….

Plant snap. Interesting how the 50% off lifetime access deal is the same price as lifetime access is regularly. Don’t appreciate being lied to

Unsubscribe option does not work. Please make sure people can unsubscribe from your daily mailings. Former client, I no longer wish to receive daily reminders that Christmas is a great time to purchase PlantSnap.

I GOT SCAMMED. Just before Christmas PlantSnap sent me an email offer for a 2 for 1 lifetime premium subscription. I purchased this offer for myself and my mother. Fortunately, she is able to access the premium version. I am still on the free version and my app is prompting me to buy premium. I have emailed their support team at least a dozen times and the only response I have received is the automated support email. They have not delivered what they promised and that is fraud.

App. App keeps giving me different names for my wood. I deleted the app. I dont recommend it

Not very useful. I’m posting this to have a written record that I cancelled the free trial and I certainly do Not want the yearly service. The app probably recognized 3 out of 10. Today is August 25, 2023, cancelled around 5:00 pm EDT. My trial period ends in 2 or 3 days time but did not get much help from this app. Why is it so hard to cancel here within Apple apps?

Couldn’t identify a tree. I tried this app to identify a tree in my front yard. Took 2 pictures. First problem, you have to step way back to get the tree to fit in the square. Then when I did get it, it called the tree a rhododendron. I took a second photo, different angle. This time a Tropicana rose. I bet it works ok for plants and shrubs but does not seem to work on a tree.

NOT accurate identification. I’m not happy their accuracy. Never get right identifications answer!!!! They cannot identify if it’s not common species, which we want to know.

NOT FREE. Does require a sub or a 7day “free trial” with a sub attached, used to be decent this is bull

Plantsmap. I started using this App this Spring and am totally amazed at how often It has answered questions for me! I am very happy with this App!

Useless. Never gets an identification from the server

Review. The constant interference with subscription ads and profiles is irritating -could be less obvious-Get more bees with honey so to speak

NOT ENOUGH SNAPS😡😠. Plantsnap is great overall except for how many snaps it gives you. This has to change👎🏽

Scam. Signed up for 7 day free trial and they immediately took 24$ out of my bank account!! Illegal!!!

Like every REAL review. There’s no way this app has over 4 star rating, from real people! I took 4 different pictures of my plant, and got 4 different results- each result gave me multiple options of what type of plant I have.. they were all wrong! That’s about 20 different wrong kinds! Don’t install

boo. gave 4 different but wrong answers the first 4 times I tried it. Constant pop ups and scroll ads made me delete this 5 mins after install. Don’t waste your time.

BEWARE, DO NOT ACCEPT THE 3 DAY TRIAL. If you accept the 3 day trial, it locks you into one year subscription.

Don’t Buy. I thought I would try this out. Took four pictures of plants I know the names of. This app got them all wrong. Will not buy.

Not good. Does not identify the plant correctly.

Awkward app. Using my iPhone 6, I have taken 10 pics of the weed in my garden. I’ve taken from all different angles to include the leaves, flowers, and stalk, as well as individuals of each. I’ve received eight different identifications, with rapeseed being the most common. It is none of the options I was given, with rapeseed being the least likely of the possibilities. The only commonality between all identifications is that the petals of the blooms are yellow. I followed the annoying instructions that cover most of the screen and what I am trying to photograph, as well as the tutorial. If you don’t mind being completely misinformed, this is the app for you. If you are in fact looking for solid identifications, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Identification problems. Sorry I deleted. First large plant I used it on, pictures came out good, top results are not even close to what it looks like

Money grab. Paid for the app now they want more Money on a per subscription basis. Terrible s

Facturé dans mon essai gratuit !. Et au tarif le plus cher!

AWFUL APP / not accurate at all. So I took a photo of 10 plants (5 per day) and ALL (no joke) were wrong. The app kept mentioning plants from Asia or Africa. Clearly plants not found in Canada. Even my Tomato plants were incorrectly identified. Then I use the PictureThis app and perfect analysis, no errors. How can this app get Elms and Aspens mixed up with exotic plants from tropical Asia or Africa or Brazil. Awful app. Any good reviews are clearly paid or people are fooled by its analysis “ohhh… this isn’t a weed? but an exotic plant from Brazil!?! I guess I shouldn’t get rid of it!” Don’t download this junk!

can’t replace photo. I discovered I choose the wrong name for my sanseveria. I can’t figure out how to changes the name and upgrade the photo without starting all over again with a new snap. Is it possible to replace a photo and plant name without starting from scratch?

Mis-identifies plants at least 50% of the time. I paid for the subscription, but sadly this app is almost useless for me. It incorrectly identifies so many plants. Telling me plants are highly toxic when in fact they aren’t. It is so disappointing. I’ve taken clear well defined photographs and in all but 3 cases out of 10 it incorrectly identified. Disappointing.

Not Accurate. I used up all my free attempts and the suggestions it gave after taking photos were obviously wrong. I’m deleting this app. It couldn’t identify my plant.

Useless. Misidentified every single plant in our new home’s garden. I didn’t think it could possibly be that bad, but it couldn’t even identify common plants. Trying to cancel my subscription (had one month free trial) and cannot seem to do so.

Cannot remove from yur phone. Cannot remove from yur phone don’t DL it

Not sure they really know what they are doing. I recently bought a home and I wanted to identify all the plants in my yard and decide which ones I wanted to keep as well as which unwanted plants I would look to either remove or transplant. I had some plants that I was unsure of them and I used this app for about four days.I am guessing that at least half of the plants in my yard were miss identified. Of those, Almost all of them didn’t even get the genus correct. I think they have some issues with their plant identification algorithms.

Love the app, works as advertised, except never gotten plant identified by botanists. I use this app almost daily. Works amazing as advertised sans botanist feature. I bought the paid version of the app a long time ago but for some reason i never got the plants identified that I sent in to be identified, so I bought the lifetime subscription on the sale day thinking that would fix it. However, I still have the six or so plants I’ve sent in “awaiting identification” for over a year now. Otherwise the app works great, it’s nice to be able to learn about a plant you have in front of you.

This app helped save my doggy!. My dog kept getting into something that was poisoning her and I had no idea what it was. I caught her eating a plant one day and realized it may be a poisonous plant. I got the app and checked out all the plants in my back yard. This app helped me identify the plant and even said “poisonous to dogs”. I got rid of all poisonous plants in my yard and she hasn’t had an issue since. So thankful for this app!

Great plant community-app needs improvements. I am so grateful for the plant community I’ve found through this app. I love sharing and enjoying the plant/nature shots and conversing with others who also enjoy the beauty of nature. I do find that when I post, at times, the app lowers the quality of pictures that are clear when taken. After posting some look blurry. This is very frustrating as it’s hard to show the beauty of a shot.

Not very accurate. I was really wanting a good plant identifier app and I liked the way this one is set up but unfortunately it doesn’t do well at identifying. I tested it when I first downloaded it with plants I 100% knew what they were (Cora bells, butterfly bush, and pansies) and it got them all wrong. The actual plant didn’t even come up in the options. Also the ads are a little much. I had the free option so I understand the need for ads but so many ads on top of having a limited number of snaps seems a little too restrictive for my purposes.

Todays review from Robb. Absolutely the best plant identifier app location for your iPhone. Without hesitation identifies plants accurately. Nice to have at your fingertips when coming across something that it will either be harmful or helpful in your yard or design of a project Weatherby landscaping, residential, historical District, ocean view location or terraced garden. Thank you very much for such a wonderful application.

Update 6.0 is trash. Yesterday I needed to identify a plant in my garden to see if it was a weed or not. I took a good, well-lit photo and tried to upload it to PlantSnap. In order to do any of that, I had to agree to a $19/year subscription (with a “free trial” for a week). You’ve probably guessed, the app—after all that—couldn’t identify the plant and would NOT let me (endless spinning) upload the photo so the community could maybe chime in. When I asked for tech support, I got a gigantic automated response (TL/dr) but no live support. I guess I’m going to have to go with an old-fashioned weed definition: any plant growing where I don’t want it to.

Didn’t match my first few snaps. I downloaded this from an ad, testing it out and won’t be keeping it. I tested a few pictures from my yard that I’ve already identified and the app was incorrect. I don’t see the value in paying for this type of app when Google is usually just as good if not better. I was using picture this with success but they changed their free model. It’s a great app, still not paying for it though. I’ll continue to look for an app that does the trick. Good user experience (outside of the 8 hour thing), just wish the match rate was better.

Not worth any amount of money. I paid for the subscription to identify an invasive species in my yard. You would think with location services and AI that the app would be able to suggest plants that could be found in my general area. Instead, it identified plants from halfway around the world. I would not suggest this app to anybody and thoroughly regret the $20 subscription that was just charged to me automatically. The app was so terrible that I forgot I had even subscribed and deleted the app from my phone. One star. Find another option.

A waste of time!. I downloaded this app after downloading & discarding so many others. It started out great & after taking only 5 photos & getting 4 out of 5 correct identifications, I was excited that I had found the perfect app! BUT when I proceeded to take the next photo I got a message that I had reached my limit and either had to wait 14hrs or upgrade to a premium service. I have approximately 35+ plants throughout my house, and if I can only snap a picture of 5 every 14hrs, makes this app a waste of my time!

Lovely!. I have the free version and it works pretty well!! The only complaint i have is that the interface is a bit touchy/glitchy. Sometimes when i go to click gallery it will accidentally take a picture and use up one of my snaps for the day which is kinda annoying. But overall it works great and i'm learning the names of all the plants and trees in my neighborhood! I don’t think it deserves the negative reviews its gotten as its wonderful and best of all free!

Doesn’t recognize plant and lots of bugs. I wanted an app to recognize a few plants, so I got this one as it had the best reviews. However, It soon became clear that this app does not recognize very well. I was taking a photo of my false Christmas cactus for testing, and the app told me it was a mushroom. I tried to get it personally identified, but that required me to buy premium. I tried to close the mushroom window, but the tab would close. Also, there is a limit of the amount of pics allowed. After that, a 12 hour cool down period. I would give 0 stars if possible.

So helpful. Thank You for making this app. I have so many plants on my property. And I am not sure what they all are. I am looking forward to the help this app is going to give me and my husband. I think everyone should buy this app. I also like how you can meet others who really wants to learn more about plants of every kind. Once again thank you 😊

Unreliable technology, poor customer service. Despite following the extensive instructions and submitting photos with several “identifying-isolating circles”, more than 75% of standard urban vegetation was incorrectly identified. I resubmitted for special review by “staff botanists”, and 1 out of 6 photos was correctly ID’ed- just not a reasonable ratio of success for a purchased app. Despite being confronted with these miserable results, PlantSnap has refused to refund my $ & cancel my account. Others with similar poor results may want to follow my lead and have their credit card company dispute the charge- its the only recourse you’ll have.

Removing All Doubt…. This app is spot on with identification. I was skeptical at first and entered photos of various plants from across the globe. Having worked in several foreign countries, I have enjoyed collecting local photos of many different types of plants and animals. To me, that’s one perk of having a job requiring travel- total immersion into the local culture!

So bummed. This app used to be awesome, so I was excited to check out the new update (v6.0), but it’s sooo broken. I can’t tap an option or feature without it glitching (like an actual visual glitch where the words and visual properties of the UI get all scrambled on the screen for a second) before turning completely white and then ceasing to load anything at all. After several attempts, I still can’t get it to identify my flowers before it goes all goofy. I will definitely revisit once it’s fixed! I really do love this app when it’s functional.

Identifies but care of instructions are poor. I had no problem identifying plants. At least we could get the same family of plant. The instructions on care are the SAME for every plant. Pick a good spot in your garden. Likes well drained soil. If you have a sick plant it’s no help. If you wanna know what to put in the soil it’s no help. If you wanna know what the good spot in your garden should be it does not help. If you want to know if it needs morning or evening son not so helpful. I’m canceling the subscription and looking for another one.

Fun but didn’t identify my plants. I think it’s a really cool concept as I have been trying to get into propagating houseplants. Unfortunately it only accurately identified a flower from a shampoo bottle picture and one of my houseplants. I will probably try one more time but I ran out of tries for the same plants. The feature to share photos with others is interesting but there were a few that seemed irrelevant so I am unclear on if there are any rules about what photos can be shared.

Not working any more. This app used to work great, but now it’s screwing up. When I open it up, it won’t let me do anything without signing up for the free trial, and I’ve already got a paid monthly subscription. I was just charged a few days ago for my subscription and I still can’t get past that. I don’t know what’s going on and I’ve reached out for support and nobody is responding. I’m about ready to uninstall this app and cancel my membership if I don’t hear back from somebody soon.

Great at identifying; so-so at sharing. After hours of struggling to post and share my photos, I have come to the conclusion that the popularity of this application is centered on its ability to identify quickly most plants. Once identified, my attempts to share the photographs, add their scientific names and a few sentences to provide context have ended in complete frustration. The process is completely non-intuitive. The ‘help’ function is superficial. I guess what I’m trying to explain is my sense that this app is for my use, not for sharing the information I have discovered through its front-end.

Josephine in Cincinnati. I have had the app an year. I just started using it a week ago. I love it. Some wrong identifications.. also some great finds. A “weed “ that tortured me for 20 years is actually a beautiful plant and endangered in some states.. My rating is for the way the developers treated customers who complained and made it all about them ... their fault... it is an aggressive approach to business and it feels wrong to me ...it is bullying your customers. .... You apologize and put them down, not good customers service... your customer service dialogue needs to improve....

Such a cool app. So this is like the perfect app for beginners like me and I’m sure all plant lovers alike. I’m clueless. I try so hard to have that green thumb but really don’t have a lot of experience deciphering plants or knowing their needs etc. this app is such a help. Works well- just take your pics. Plus being able to check out others pics is awesome too.

Almost never works. 90% of the time when I scan a leaf or flower it just loads for an eternity and never brings something up. The other 10% of the time it shows me plants that look literally nothing like the one I just took a picture of. Or they’ll look similar but they’ll be from a totally different part of the country or world. I’d suggest creating a geographic feature that allows you to only see plants that are native to your location. After the aforementioned issues have been remedied of course.

Accurate uwu!!!. If you take a picture with the flower intact in a nice sunny lighting, it works %100. If it’s not the plant you chose it’s something “close enough” and DOES look awfully similar to the plant so you can’t blame the poor AI because it’s doing its best. I love this app and it correctly named all the plants I gave it. The snaps per day don’t bother me a bit, for just a video and it resets it’s great. 10/10 would recommend.

Doesn’t work. I down loaded this app and tested its knowledge on all my house plants and it got every single one of them wrong including my tomato plant! To bad, I have wanted someone to make an app like this for years! I guess I will keep waiting till I find one that actually works. UPDATE: Received a response from the developer stating the app is accurate if I used it properly and provided video links on how to use it. Sorry but if the initial directions given when the app is down loaded isn’t good enough than you app isn’t accurate end of story. No one should need to watch multiple videos just to get your app to work properly! Talk about putting it back on the customer! No thanks, I’m good.

Game changer!. Plant Snap has added immensely to my enjoyment of my spring wildflower walks. I was able to confirm that I actually did know the names of two “unidentified” flowers. And it was fun when learning that the third was a wild geranium to be able to say, “Well that makes sense when you look at the leaves!” I look forward to learning more each season, with this field guide in my pocket.

Pretty good. I haven’t tried other plant finding apps, so I can’t compare this one to others. Usually the plant is on the suggested list but I wish there were more images of each plant. I often use thus app to get an idea and then look up the most likely guess on the web. If there were more photos of each plant I could skip that step.

Very Helpful. I have been using wild herbs and plants to supplement my arthritis medicine for a while now but I’ve always been worried about mistaking a plant for something else, now all I have to do is take a picture and confirm whether or not I was right about the plant’s identity. For someone who’s on a lot of pain meds and still not getting better this app is a godsend since plants are helping more than anything else.

Safer yard thanks to PlantSnap. We have two pesky dogs and a toddler who loves picking raspberries from our garden. Recently, I downloaded this app on a whim and tried testing it on various plants in our garden. The app correctly identified one mysterious plant in our yard as pokeweed - a very toxic plant that produces berries. I removed the pokeweed; now our yard is a little safer and we know to look out for that plant going forward. Thanks, PlantSnap team!

Pretty amazing. This app is an incredible find. I’ve been trying to figure out the plants on my property for years with mixed success. I’ve bought books, looked at online resources, etc. I get this app and within an hour I’ve diagnosed 10 of the tricky ones. It didnt get all of them yet, but I might need better pictures. Excellent and highly recommended

Idk why I’m writing this. I just downloaded this app today and from what I can tell it’s pretty decent. It’s pretty easy to use, and the free version is not that bad. I snapped a couple pictures of some of my plants, and it was able to identify them, but the correct identification was like the third or fourth option down. Most of them were pretty obvious so I was kinda surprised they didn’t get more of them. But overall, it’s a decent app, and could be useful, if you already have some sort of idea of what the plant might be.

Unfortunately it just couldn’t identify. After it got it wrong about a half dozen times I started thinking I had to be doing something wrong. Each time I did at the very least 4-5 different angle photos and still it wasn’t pull pictures that even resembled the plant. So I took it to one of the plants I have the little tag from the store still on and it couldn’t get it correct either. The app did seem to have a lot of helpful features and info once you know but without an identifier that works it doesn’t help.

A nature lover’s favorite app. I wasn’t sure what to think when I downloaded this app but I love that it is like a social media platform for plant and flower enthusiasts! Take pictures of all the plants you are interested in and not only will you learn about them but you can save it for future reference! Additionally, you can see who is posting around you as well.

Want A keep charging me!. According to Apple my subscription does not expire until June 2022 however I no longer have the app on my phone so I re-download it and what are you guess not only does it want to charge me again for a new subscription but it’s over double the amount that I originally paid. I originally paid 899 for a year now it wants 1999 for a year and it will not let me get past that I am not at all happy with this program because half the time when I did have it it didn’t recognize my plants at all don’t waste your time or your money

Extremely accurate and helpful. I‘ve had a garden that I started recently with a packet of wildflowers. When the flowers finally sprouted, I had no idea what it was. The back of the packet had a list of what it might be, but none of the pictures online matched; I was worried I’d been growing a weed of sorts this whole time. When I got this app, it gave me an accurate identification on the first try. I’ve never been more satisfied with an app’s work. It’s nice to know how to properly care for my new Zinnias ❤️

Inaccurate. This app inaccurately identifies a Calla Lily. Every time I scan a plant, I get a different species identified. I can’t be sure that this is accurately identifying any of the plants I scanned. UPDATE Received a response from app developer telling me I should watch video to learn how to use the app correctly. I HAD watched their instructional videos prior to using the app, so maybe they should not assume people are incapable of using the app. Also, if your app requires 3 videos to understand how to use it, maybe another app is a better option.

Never got a response to a plant id request.. Had a weed like plant over grow my gardens and no matter what, I can't get rid of them. I've tried digging up and getting all the roots I can and using herbicides. Saw an ad and I bought the yearly plan just to get this plant identified. Submitted a picture and I never got a reply back. If you like sharing pictures of plants, this is probably for you. If you want to find out what something is, I think you should find another app. Gave 1 star because the app didn't do as it promised and I wasted 10 bucks on it.

Didn't work no matter how I took the picture.. I separated out leaves onto a contrasting clean one color background, took images of the whole plant, macro shots of leafs, the whole shebang. The app only gives you 5 free tries before you have to pay money or watch a horrendous and horrendously long advertisement spree that literally takes over your screen and audio and you can't stop it, and so rather than waste another two minutes watching asinine commercials only to have the app still fail to give me the correct answer, I posted to Red dit for help. The only way I got the correct answer was post the exact same pictures (that failed to identify with this app) on the sub red dit: "whatisthisplant" and I had a correct identification from a response from someone in the community within minutes. The plant in question was "Trumpet Creeper".

Works Great. This app works great. I had a “weed” that I couldn’t identify and I took a picture in PlantSnap and it identified it as Little HogWeed. The first time I tried to identify it in PlantSnap it didn’t work because I had pulled a stem off the weed and took the picture of it laying on a concrete slab. It misidentified it. But then I took a picture of the complete plant and it worked great. My neighbor is a Master Gardener and he couldn’t identify it. If at first you don’t get accurate results, maybe it’s how your taking the picture. Great App!

It’s not free. It is so irritating to load a “free” app and the 1st thing it wants is payment for a subscription. I gave it a 2 only because the lower of the 2 subscription prices is reasonable if you are going to use the app enough to justify it. I would only use it occasionally, so I don’t want a monthly subscription. Seriously, App developers, Just tell us if it’s going to cost us to use the app. We will either do it or not either way. Now I have loaded the app to my phone just to now delete it. It’s a waste of time. Be up front!

Not very accurate. I got this app to identify the “weeds” in my yard. I’m a fan of biodiversity and I’m just curious about what they are. This app can not tell me what any of them are. I’ve framed it perfectly, and retaken pictures many many times and it can not give me anything that even looks like the plants I’m trying to identify. The suggestions will have entirely different leaf shapes! It seems like it is only accurate for flowering plants that are actively blooming, which is very limiting. I paid for the premium version given the good reviews and I’m very disappointed.

What happened?. I’ve had this app for over a year, and I really liked it. I haven’t used it for a couple of months, and when I just did, it has totally changed. Could not ID the plant photo that I loaded. I tried that same plant three different times, and it gave me a different answer every time. None were even close to looking like the photo I had used. Also, it used to provide the primary answer plus, it gave you several different alternative plants that might be closer to the one you requested. Not anymore. This app is now worthless.

Very disappointed! Failed on the first try.. I lost the plant tag from some Verbena that I bought and decided to give this a try. I was sad to see that I was given just 7 days to try out the app before being charged a YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION OF $20 after the free period. This was too high. Still, I thought it might be worth it for one year if I could walk around my property and identify all the plants and trees around me. I was wrong. I took a good pic of the Verbena and it thought it was something else. Then I tried it on some Big Root Geranium and it couldn’t get that either. A couple more tries with failures later, I terminated my subscription and deleted the app. This was worthless.

Gets everything wrong.. This app is completely useless for identifying plants that aren’t widely known, or even for plants that are. I tested it on plants I knew and its success/accuracy rate was 1 out of 17. It thought my Tsuga Canadensis (evergreen hemlock) was a Japanese Maple, it thought my coneflowers were a lotus, my curly fries Hosta it identified as an Adam’s needle, and so on. I got the app because the house I bought has a very curious little plant that I’ve never seen before. It’s a broadleaf, fuzzy evergreen with white spots all over. It seems to only like deep, deep, shade, and it never flowers. Of course this app had no idea what it was and all the matches it gave were obviously wrong. So disappointing.

Disappointing; not quite ready for prime time. I took several snapshots of plants that I already knew how to identify. I was extremely disappointed at the accuracy of this app. It brought up other plants that were quite different, on a regular basis. While someone might think that because the app selected a plant that it must be correct, they may be being deceived. it could not recognize an orange tree, a lemon tree, a black, pine, mint, nor could it correctly identify the specific type of Juniper. that is just a few. I certainly would never rely on this app for plant identification, if I really wanted to know.

Could do better. Although the app has a wide variety of possibilities for identifying I wish they had a general care for the plants it would be so helpful to know what those plants need and how to care for them ! I love that the app helps keep track of what plants I have but I need to know there needs as well and maybe a list of possible pests and ways to get rid of them + a community on plant types from succulent to cactus to trees and more people help people and this would make this app the most useful thing ever!!!!

Can’t identify basic trees. I don’t know how this app has so many 5 star reviews. I tried it on 2 very basic tree leaves of which I was 100% certain of their identities just to test it - a sugar maple and a silver maple. These were pristine samples, part of a leaf collection book. The sugar maple it identified as a Douglas maple which I’ve never even heard of and the silver maple as a Japanese maple. The correct identities were not even in the suggestion list. iNaturalist is much much better. It almost always correctly IDs the plant or at least has it in the suggestions plus it can ID animals and fungi too! Really do not see how anyone has success with this app.

Not trustworthy. Okay so I took a photo of a plant and it gave me one other plant that it looked nothing like so I took three more each time it gave me a new and completely different plant so finally I took an orchid that obviously looked like an orchid And it said it was some other completely different flower and no it wasn’t the scientific name for orchid I think the other people giving this a five start review put to much trust in this app I also wanted to say that I read the other reviews and some of them were really rude so I also wanted to say thank you to the people making this app I know it must be hard Just trying to be honest

Poor App. Every time that I log on, the app asks me to sign up for a membership. After paying for a 12 month membership, the app continues to request me to pay for another 12 months. While the app states that my membership is current for another 11 months, the app remains non-functional — unless I commit to another 12 months. There is no guarantee that another 12 months of commitment is going to fix this issue. There is literally no way to contact the developer through the app and figure out how to fix this. Re-installing the App did not work. Attempting to contact them online did not work. As far as I can tell, the app is simply a money-grab. To further annoy me, when submitting a photo of a common desert plant in the Mojave desert of California and sharing my location to help narrow possible results, the top result of some weirdo plant from Egypt. Add the membership issues to the poor identification results and I am absolutely and completely annoyed and feeling completely ripped off.

Crashes constantly. I’m really trying to love this app. I’m trying the free version and want to upgrade but at the rate I am going with it it’s impossible to want to upgrade now. It constantly crashes which deducts from your daily allowance of 25 pics before it can save or post the pic. So frustrating to restart constantly and lose images.
