Best reading app!!. I just LOVE this app!! My son (almost 4) has finally enjoyed learning his letters and sound recognition. This app is paired to other supplemental activities we do along with the app to encourage reading. He is having fun and so am I. The only recommendation I would give is to be able to switch ‘profiles’. My daughter is now interested in playing on the app and I don’t see a way of letting her have her own profile. Other that that, we are loving this educational reading app. ❤️❤️

Changes I Recomend. I am a Senior at Graceland University (GU) and am close to graduating in the school of Education there. I greatly approve of what you have created. Repetition of letter names and speaking to the child who’s playing the “games” lines up perfectly with what I have learned at GU. As does the fact there is close to no distractions from the learning even between the game stages. That said, what I would change in the app is create a way to control the settings to a greater extent, such as see the statistics and get progress monitoring by accessing the app in some way. I would say this to better keep parents, and maybe even teachers, better informed. If you were to do so, maybe also add a way to specify which as well so that it could better integrate into classroom use. The other change I would make would be to allow for different languages to speak the instruction and for the verbal components when learning English. This would also be a means of introducing English to ESL, ELL and maybe even bilingual children.

Great app but. This app is great. My son already knew his letter sounds before using this app and I wanted him to Kearny he names of the sounds as well in a fun way that also reviewed the sounds. This app is great for that. The only thing that I have a problem with is the fact that there isn’t more settings for parents to choose what the child should or shouldn’t learn. We don’t do sight words in our learning because we have seen the studies showing that phonics is more effective than sight words. I wish I could turn off the sight word setting on this app. I wish there was more I could do as the parent to see what my child will learn and more I could do to change the settings in the app and learning he is doing.

5 Star +. My son has struggled so much in school. He has learning disabilities and most apps frustrated him and I’ve tried so many. I have used Duolingo for a year now for learning Korean and he would look over my shoulders and play along. One day I saw Duolingo had children's apps and I downloaded them and I can’t tell you how much he loves these apps! The stories are cute and entertaining. They go over sight words and letters (I hope there are more times that bd, pq, mw are put together because he also has trouble seeing the difference.)I can’t wait to see what the higher levels will teach him. I love the fact that he’s not frustrated but learning. He’s 9 and we began at level 1 and are going to keep moving forward. Already he’s seen great progress. Please keep updating it. I have watched a kid who hates to learn to begin to have pride in himself and look forward to learning. You guys rock! If it was possible to rate higher than 5 stars, I would do it!!!!!

One of the BEST!. My child isn’t even 3 yet, and they love this app, and it’s perfect to practice their letters and spelling and writing on. As someone who loves other languages, I was hoping there would be options, but according to the developer, they are in the works, and I’m happy with how things are currently. I know some people are upset by this, especially thinking that it was more practice to go with their own Duolingo, but as a parent, I love that there is a learn to read/write/spell app for my toddler. It will be amazing when there are other languages, but giving a one star review because you didn’t read the app description is really childish. Maybe you should actually use this app, because you need some reading lessons. Seriously though, this app is AMAZING for teaching English to toddlers.

AMAZING APP. This app is great for my younger sibling; she loves the app and wants to keep playing. It’s great especially since I have to teach her through the hard times we are having. The only concern I am having about this app is when she learns a word it only says the word then moves on, sometimes she would have to place the word into the right sections but I would really appreciate it if you can use your hand to draw the whole word, unless it’s later on in the lessons, but other than that she is doing great and enjoying Duolingo!

3 Year Old Starting To Read. Downloaded this app because my newly turned 3 year old daughter loves to watch me do French on Duolingo so I figured I’d let her play with this app since she likes the interface of duolingo. She’s already knew all her letters, but she’s been playing with this app a couple weeks and she can now sound out words she sees around the house! She’s read the words Mad, Glad and Blue!!! I can’t believer it!! Super fun app that makes learning interesting for little ones who like devices. Very impressed.

Please make more levels. This is the best reading app and I have tried them all including the paid apps! This app is not just a bunch of books like the other apps but has actual lessons to teach the child to read. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have more content !! Please make more levels ! My second grader who was behind in reading has been using this app and has shown great improvement but he is on the last level now and I’m so sad there isn’t more.

AMAZING! The BEST learning app we’ve come across. My son is 4 years old. And with covid last year, I did NOT enroll him in pre-k. So SINCE then I’ve been on the hunt for a great app along with my flash cards and other items for teaching him myself. I can’t tell you HOW MANY apps I’ve downloaded and paid for that turned out to be nothing but games with 0 learning. He’s finally enrolled for school this year and I’m SOOOO thankful I stumbled across this app!! Seriously I’m just a week and a half my son now fully knows his alphabet - even started trying to sound out words when he sees them!! I cannot be more impressed with this app!! Thank you sooo much for helping this single Mom teach her baby🏆🏆🏆🏆🥇

So much fun. I play this with my little cousin and she loves it. She always looks forward to the stories and her face lights up every time she unlocks one. The first time you just read them while the second time they ask you questions and sharpen your comprehension skills. She loves this app and it’s working for her, she can now read all of the letter she practiced. I don’t even have to be there with her, I can just give her the phone with the app running and she knows what to do. Great choice for anyone who needs to learn how to read and write English.

Nice progression needs a few tweaks. The progression of the lessons and the building of the letters and understanding the only issue that my 2 year old niece had with it is the food fight part she found it very upsetting to have to select throwing food at the characters we are also trying to make sure she doesn’t throw things in general and especially food and found it counter productive to those life lessons. If there could be an opt out version to avoid those lesson it would be appreciated.

Awesome!!!. I recently got this app for my 4 year old brother and he loves it the second he starts. It’s super effective, and he even loves this app more than video games! I thought that is GREAT, since it’s almost impossible to get him to do anything else. I recommend this app because it’s the best for my little brother(plus it’s free!!) and it helps him understand things so much better. Although this is a good review, I must say that the levels EXTREMELY long and basically repeats the same thing over and over again until you get to a higher level. I would like it if it was less lengthy, but even so it would imprint on his brain for a long time which is still good. Other than that, I think it’s the best!!

3yr old actually learning. My 3 year old loves this. She will switch from her 30mins of screen time to this app almost every time. She is a bit advanced so this may not be every other parent’s experience with this app but I feel it has helped my child write letters and recognize words. She has memorized many of the books she loves so not sure which has been more influential, but I can say this app definitely has helped, and I would absolutely recommend to any parent.

Exactly what we really needed. For the longest time, my younger sister has struggled with reading and writing. Nothing my family tried could ever convince her to actually read, and she was failing to sound out simple words. It’s just been a really rough process trying to get her to learn. But, we stumbled upon this app, and within a day, she’s beginning to read and eagerly sounding out words. Everything about this just keeps her confident and engaged, and the fact that it’s free without shoving ads in our faces is even better. We couldn’t be more thankful for this, it put together the missing pieces that nothing else could, especially in an awful year like this, and that’s all. 10/10, would go back to kindergarten just to use this to learn to read again.

Great! Especially for those who are just starting out. I got this app because it was an add on Duo lingo. I thought that it was going to teach me how to read in another language, preferably franchement the language I’ve been learning for about a year. As anyone would know it is very difficult to wrote on another language with the correct grammar and spelling. So I thought this would be a great opportunity. Well once I realized that this was only for English reading and writing I knew the perfect use. I gave it to my 5 year old who just started with letters. He really enjoys it. The one thing i ask for is an app that focuses primarily on reading and writing in another language. And that it would start with basics, so that kids and beginners aren’t overwhelmed. Like it teaches you to write the accent marks properly. I really have no problem with this app so far though.

Best early learning app!!!. I have homeschooled all 4 of our kids. (Oldest 16 youngest 7) we use DUOLINGO for teaching our two older boys Spanish. (We tried Rosetta Stone which was an absolute waste of money!) Duo Lingo is engaging and does an excellent job teaching to speak, read and write in Spanish. I saw the add for Duo abc and instantly thought of our 7 year old son who has Down Syndrome. His disability has made it a challenge to get him interested in learning. I have tried many different programs and apps, this is by far THE BEST app we have ever found!! I absolutely love it!!! The first time we opened he loved it!! It keeps his attention, and he’s finally learning his letters and sounds! The first time it asked him to say a word, I was nervous. He sees a speech therapist for his language. There are many times I (his mom) can’t even understand him. So when he repeated the word and it chimed because he got it right, I teared up a bit! I was ecstatic!! I can’t tell you how excited I am!! I have been telling all my homeschool friends!! Thank you Duo abc!!!! I am so grateful!!!

Please make this in French and other languages for native English speakers!. I’ve bee talking with my friends who are on the main Duolingo app and we all agree that if Duo made this to learn other languages we wouldnt’t just have out kids playing this, we would play it too! It’s a great app for English children to learn English so why not use it to teach people the fundamentals of other languages? If they did, I would be willing pay fees to play it.

Ehh.. I’ve let two little ones use this (5 & 7), and I’m a bit mixed on how I feel about it. The speaking exercises are incredibly inconsistent. For the 5 y/o, it’s expected that he should be able to immediately read and say a word that appears on the screen. The app immediately begins to listen for a response instead of allowing time to sound it out. It also accepts whatever noise it detects, even if it’s completely wrong. For the 7 y/o, it reads a sentence to him and wants him to repeat it. Not only is this not practicing reading AT ALL, but it again can’t properly depict what he’s saying and often proceeds halfway through a sentence. I tried to turn the volume down and let him actually sound it out, but since it expects immediate and perfect response, it kept marking it wrong and proceeding before he could get three words out! This is my biggest complaint by far because it makes the app fairly useless.

Makes learning to read easy!. We first downloaded this app before a trip to see family for my gifted 2-year-old to use while traveling. She flew up to the 5th building pretty quickly but then got out of her depth when it came to lessons on assembling sentences. We then saw that in the settings you can reset the game. Brilliant! She’s going through again slower now that the novelty has worn off but still loves it. My initial complaints were totally addressed in the settings, and I think this is awesome for accessibility for learners at all levels: 1. Speaking exercises: the app had trouble recognizing my daughter’s voice, whether it was from toddler language or volume. We found ourselves shouting at the app for her. You can easily turn off the speaking exercises in the settings which we have done now. 2. Tracing letters: my daughter is very interested in tracing the letters, but 2-year-olds lack the physical development to be able to do this skill. We noticed that she would intentionally do it wrong to get the guided tracing so she could do it perfectly. We were able to adjust this in the settings too to only offer her the guided tracing! We will turn the regular tracing back on next year probably.

Mmmmmm . . ........ I don’t know about this. This could be good for younger kids but not older kids. My child wanted to take writing classes and she’s pretty advanced and she wants to get better, if it’s gonna start out with how to spell monkey I don’t think this is going to help a 10 year old. And it’s also annoying because you can’t change the language and my mom was trying to help her change the age and stuff to see if that would work but she couldn’t read it . And it’s also a good app for people learning English because now my mom knows some English so I guess it was pretty helpful but it is very annoying when you 10 year old is trying to learn new writing skills and it’s literally trying telling her to spell monkey.

Excellent App - The only tweaks could be in content. We absolutely love the app for our 3.5 year old. Using this app in addition to our other letter and language studies - and with adult supervision and conversation throughout - has been an excellent tool that she’s excited about. The only complaint I have is that there is a ton of content about sugar, snacks, and cookies. We don’t talk about these things or use these words in our home; so now for our daughter to be demanding cookies and lollipops every time we leave the house is a bit disheartening. I would also love an option to choose how many sounds/celebrations there are for correct answers. I use the DuoLingo app as an adult for learning a language, and have turned off the sounds for correct answers. I would love this option for my toddler….. we’re living in a time when it’s already so difficult to combat the overwhelming advertising and misinformation about what is healthy food for our bodies, and also combating social media addiction and dopamine addiction and overload. I do love the app and and our child does too, but I worry about the constant snack and sugar references and too many dopamine hits along the way. It’s all quite addictive.

Can skip through too easily. This is an awesome game in theory, however, there is one huge flaw that would make the lessons sink deeper. My 3 year old loves the game and wants to hurry up and make it to the top of the buildings/put the books back/etc. He rushes through it so quickly, the information in the lessons aren’t really sinking in. IF the developers could make it so that the child CANT choose an answer until the question is fully read that would help my child slow down and really listen to what’s being asked of him. For example, there is a letter missing from a word and the child must choose the correct letter to complete the word. My child just presses buttons before the question says what word we are trying to complete. He keeps hitting keys until he gets a “green” light and moves to the next lesson and we don’t know if he was trying to spell rat or rag. It’s a frustrating aspect for me because I want him to listen to the words being presented meanwhile he is just trying to “win”. Show the options but don’t allow the child to choose anything until the question is finished, and then you’ll get a 5 star rating from me. Overall everything else is very engaging and smart. If you've got a patient child, this app is perfect as is.

Thank you !. I am a mother and I have six kids ( my husband passed away ) and I don’t have enough money for school and there very young should be in kindergarten right now so I teach them and I don’t want to waste my money on teachers that go to your house So my life was very depressing until I found this app that made me interested so I gave my kids the app and now they have been playing that app for days now so thank you for that now I have time to help myself by getting a better job then my last !

Has potential!. I would like to be able to skip to a specific lesson as a parent, I found the beginning lessons too easy for my kids but am sure something in the middle would be perfect. The app seems very well made and easy to figure out with cute little owls. At times it felt a little slow and you have no control over the pace. I’m not sure my kids will stay engaged long term since it’s slow and doesn’t have very fun games. I love that it is advertisement free and well designed! Those are very important to me for my kids. In the end they said it was an early release and with such a solid start I can see this being a great app soon.

Great for all toddlers and kids!. my little sister has a hard time learning, we tried getting her to schools and it wouldn't work. I was practicing my spanish lessons on duolingo and I happened to get an ad of this app! I downloaded it for my little sis, and she LOVED it. Everyday she started getting better and better with english and now my 3 year old sister is at KINDERGARTEN LEVEL!! She is speaking so well even though she has troubles with that. I’m so happy shes learning and will soon be able to communicate with us so much easier. This app is a literal blessing. 10/10 and I would recommend. (Duolingo is a great app too.)

Good for very early readers!. If your child is working on letter naming, letter sounds, and printing letters, then this app is great! It allows them to engage with the content using multiple modalities. However, if your child can already read sight words and simple sentences, this is probably too easy for them. Although I will say I, as an adult, had fun playing through a few levels. I also appreciated that there wasn’t anything else to click on besides the next lesson. It would be easy for a young child to navigate and it seems like it would be hard for them to get in trouble while clicking around in the app.

In Progress. We recently started using the app. Thus far these are my comments: My son is 6 years of age. He truly enjoy the app thus far. I am enjoying his enthusiasm as well. It is a good app thus far. Glitches: 1. The app requires children to read some of the sentences aloud. The glitch occurs when my son is reading and the app is listening. He’s reading but the app does not allow him to finish. It skips forward as if he completed the reading but he did not. This is a very frequent glitch. It occurs numerous times within a lesson. 2. There are times when the sound stops during lessons. This is infrequent but it nevertheless occurs. 3. There are times when the app shuts down during lessons. This is also infrequent but it nevertheless occurs. Recommendation(s) 1. Please add a “back button”. This will come in handy as enable us to go backwards so we may review & reinforce some learning tasks.

Some Inappropriate words for kids. I was really annoyed today that my child gets on to try a new level and it had her spelling the word “farts” multiple times and then another level talks about farting. Really?! Give me a break! I understand that this is not a terrible word to most, but it is one that we don’t want her using and we do not use in our house. For an app like this there's no place or need for it. Totally inappropriate for kids her age, she’s six! Thousands of descent word and you choose this one?! So moronic for adults to be putting this on this type of app. You can and need to do better!

You might want to read before download. I’m 13 my little sister is 8 and uses this app I asked her can I check it out and she’s like ye that’s fine here so I went to level 10 and I hade to fill in a blank and the first two were fine like fill in the blank for thank you so ____h or your so ki__ but then it got weird like where’s the mil_ or get a new b__ty that’s big and I was speechless I moved on and I read a book and it hade skeletons and zombies? For 3-5 year olds I don’t think they should have that in there kinds yet especially before bed after that I finessed the book and I was like let’s just find something that’s normal cause this is awful 😩 I tried the thing we’re you have to LISTEN UP (why in caps tho) and I saw words like bu*p and po*p which I thing is kinda inappropriate anyways I showed my mom and she was like OMG 😳 I’m deleting this so she did that’s and that was the end of this game

WOW!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. So I got this game yesterday and it has been so awesome! I love that unlike most other games I get this has NO things you have to buy. I’m trying to get my little brother started on this, he is a great little brother so I want to try and get him on this. I read a review that said that there kid got stuck on “Tiny Turtles? or “Hello Turtles “ but I just got on that, hopefully I won’t go threw a loop like her kid did. But this game has been great for me!!! I love how it looks so cute and how that it’s not like “ To get more lessons you can try a free trail and pay us 20 dollars a month. “ but this game has no things like that! I’m also so happy that there is speaking exercising, my brother has speech and some people can barley tell what he is saying. So I will let him start them, this game has been the best learning game for kids I’ve ever played that you don’t have to buy stuff on.

Learning so fast!!!!. I just got this game for my five year old sister and she loves it! I’ve been trying to get her to read since forever and now she’s reading her sight words and writing them. I can’t believe how fast she’s learning, in just a couple of hours she’s been able to recognize rhyming words like at and mat, and even larger words like monkey and turtle. And she’s reading mini books by using the pictures as inferences. Not only does she love this app, but I love it too! It’s so cool to see a little kid reading and writing so well. Thank you Duolingo!

This app is the best app for mothers. This app is so amazing I fell in love with duo on my own and just recently discovered this app for kids it’s free it’s interactive it won’t hit u middle of the game with a payment request my 3 year old son loves it so much and I love playing and watching how excited he gets to move on to next levels same feeing I got with duo !!! If your a struggling mother and can’t afford to pay for apps but want ur child to have positive learning experiences this is it no cost !!! And duo genuinely cares about kids and teaching I love it so much thank you ❤️

Wow!. My son is 3 and loves to hear stories read to him, he often tries to read on his own and quickly realizes he doesn't know how, and that upsets him. Today we opened the app up and he couldn’t put it down. He loves the stories read to him and writing. I think he loves it all. He is currently on the 2nd letter “a”. I saw him free write the letter’a’ on the app. I feel that this is the perfect app, because its clean and straight to the point which helps my son from getting distracted. We have used A LOT of other learning apps. This one he loves. This one im sticking with. Plus IT’s FREE. Thanks duo for the app. I love there language learning app also. Go check that out.

Do not miss out if you have a child ages 3-6!. I just downloaded Duo ABC for my kindergartener. She absolutely loves it! She and her older brother have started calling it “Babylingo,” and it is the cutest little kids educational app I’ve ever seen… and I’ve been doing baby apps for around a decade, lol. They asked for her age and her name, so she started on the letter M with the goal of reading and writing her full first name eventually. Because we put that she’s 5, the expectations were totally reasonable for her skill level. 10/10, absolutely recommend.

Suggestion. This app works really well. So far there haven’t been any problems with it (bugs, crashing, etc.). My one recommendation is maybe put this into other languages. I think it would be nice if it were able to teach kids, especially small children, other languages in maybe an easier way then Duolingo normally does. The concept of the app itself could stay the same but instead of tracing English letters it could be Spanish, Korean, French, or anything else.

Huge fans. This app works amazing for my niece. She is 4 years old and is loving level one. She has finished level one a few times. Once she moves on to level 2 it becomes a little advanced and she just starts guessing until she gets it right. We started just restarting her progress which has worked fine for a while but I can tell is starting to get a little repetitive for her. I wish there was more practice of each concept before it moves on to a new one. We also recently started her on the iPad with an Apple Pencil which has worked really well to get actual practice writing her letters with a pencil instead of her finger.

Great free app!. If you are looking for an app to help teach your preschooler the alphabet, sight words, language comprehension, and phonics, then you’ve come to the right place! This app is free and they have interactive stories for language comprehension and teach kids letters, sight words, writing, and reading skills. My son loves getting to use my phone to play on this app. Thanks to the app, at the age of 3, he can already read several basic sight words. This will help him with learning to read in future years. Thanks Duolingo ABC!

Great for kids! But can you please add more languages?. Although I’m an 18 year old without any kids, I think that this would be a great app for kids trying to learn. I downloaded this thinking you could select the language you want to learn, but unfortunately that’s not the case. If it is possible, could you please add a selection to change the language, I really was hoping I could pick Japanese so I could learn the strokes of the symbols. I have been learning Japanese on the regular Duolingo app and figured I might be able to learn some more here but I can’t :(.

Amazing. This is teaching my 4 year old to read! I’m so shocked that it’s free because it is the best app I’ve ever seen for it. My son already knew letters and letter sounds and a few sight words but I was struggling to get him practicing his knowledge in a way that would get him sounding out words. Wow. I love the way they do letter tracing with the easy snap to the line a few times and them dropping the snap to the line. They offer voice recognition and the drills are fun. This really should be a 5 star app. Thank you so much for creating this!

Good app for learning to read. Overall I really like this app. My daughter enjoys it and I appreciate how phonics, sight words, letter formation, and reading comprehension are all included. We have been using this app for about a year with a bit of a break in the middle. When we first started all the levels were locked until you completed the level prior; however, now my daughter can access levels out of order and just jumps around to only find the story levels. I really wish you would change it back to requiring kids to do the levels in order so they can learn prerequisite skills for the later levels.

Improvements removed great features!. Amazing app that my kids have been using for nearly a year now. It does a fantastic job teaching recognition by sight and sound and writing as well, but the updates -while great- removed some wonderful features. Two of which were extremely important to my kids’ usage. 1) Removed stars that tracked daily usage, which was fantastic for keeping the kids engaged daily. 2) Removed the ability to see what each level’s focus is. This is the biggest issue because now it’s impossible to go back and redo specific lessons like writing or a sight-word or just the sounds of a letter, etc. Now if you want to relearn an alphabet or sight-word or practice writing, you have to check each levels’s contents till you find what you want, then go into that level and keep checking each lesson till you find what you’re looking for… really??? That’s so lame guys, please fix it.

Really impressed. I have wanted to find an app like this for my 3 year old son. I think a parent needs to be engaged in the app alongside the child in order to keep the child truly focused. Apps can be overwhelming for little ones, they end up pressing things and going off course. This app addresses that concern of mine. I sat alongside my son and saw he was able to stay on task of the app’s easy to follow instructions, without me monitoring his process. The app is well designed and well thought out. When the app asks to pronounce words, OMG! I was completely won over. It really encouraged him to say the words, not just be a “tablet zombie”. He loved that feature too!

Surprised 😮. This is actually working really well with my son who is only 3. His speech development has always been a little concern, but with the help of this app he has learned so many new words quickly. He is even learning how to read AND write quickly. He has always been behind his peers in school and all of a sudden he’s catching up really fast. I am really relieved to have found Duo ABC. It has been such a game changer of making learning fun for him. *We use this app plus other things like flash cards, blocks, and whiteboard to help our son and he has changed so much in such a short time.

So satisfied. I love this app so much for my 4 year old. I downloaded it in my tablet and I did not use it. My daughter found it by herself. I was shocked to see how it’s helping her through speaking, writing and reading. I also got her learning report coming through my email. This is beyond my expectations. I was like this app is better than abc mouse that I purchased for her. The only thing is sometimes it’s frozen but you can restart the iPad and it will work. So far it is the best app that actually teach effectively. I really love it. I don’t like doing reviews, this one I have too... Good job

Fix the bug!. I am very happy with this app. It has been a great tool for my soon to be kindergartener. However I think that the most recent update has an error: we are in a constant loop on one level so he keeps doing the same lessons over & over. It’s been a week with no new content. I thought it was happening because he wasn’t getting a ‘perfect score’ so I went in and did it for him. I got it to level 11. And sure enough this afternoon it was back to the tiny turtles. He’s over it and so am I. My only other general suggestion is that the app have a place for parents to get a comprehensive overview of the skills that have been introduced and where the child is in terms of mastery. It is a wonderful app and I truly appreciate that it is free and ad-free! Keep up the great work!!

Just wow and thank you. My 3 year old was going to go to preschool this year but because of all this pandemic going on this was not possible and since I found out that duo abc was a free app to help kids learn basics of letters, sounds, shapes and more I downloaded it for him and to be honest he loves it and he is beginning to learn how to write his name on his own on a sheet of paper. He recognizes sounds of the letters and beginning to recognizing words. Thank so much for this app God bless all the people involved in this app and for making it free during this crisis for all

Free with good quality. Unlike many other apps, this one does NOT have a ton of pop up ads. None at all. Which is amazing because I hate when my kids accidentally download random apps. My five year old loves it! He is behind on reading, this is helping him so much. He gets so excited when he spells something right. My 2 year old has engaged in it, he was being taught on how to spell his name. And he loves it. This is like a godsend kids app. Thank you

Great for my 4 year old!. My daughter loves it, she is in PK now doing virtual learning (due to the pandemic) with her school and this app have been a great help during the quarantine. Is also great that is ad's free. Love the addition of granting the kids daily stars for encouragement. I am a Duoling fan (doing French) and i'm glad they released this app in this special circumstances. Please keep in mind the app is for 0-5 ages (and i would say 4 to 5), my son is 7 (bilingual English/Spanish) and of course for him is pretty easy, i practice with him French in the standard Duolingo.

My little brother has struggled.... He’s been struggling to learn his letters for years, we tried teaching him, using videos, and apps and he just would not sit down and was not interested. With this app (and the help of his teachers) he has finally started understanding letters and sounds. He actually WANTS to sit down and open this app. With the iPad and the Apple pencil, he has been learning how to WRITE and I am so amazed at how fast this app has helped him. My only suggestion would be allowing other languages on here. We are in a hispanic household and the primary language he speaks is spanish, his teachers and parents talk to him in this language, I see him struggling a bit to switch from spanish to english, especially in the first couple minutes on the app. It would be nice if he could learn the alphabet in spanish with this app. It’s still an amazing app, definitely 5 stars!!!

Great for young kids!. My daughter is attending preschool and is getting ready for kindergarten. Her preschool teacher recommended that we have her tested for proper placement when she enters kindergarten; she might be a little behind. So in preparation for that test, my daughter and I use this app (and other tools) daily as the new normal, because her preschool, like many other schools, has shutdown and is running a light version of its curriculum remotely, but not giving the amount of instruction or attention that my daughter needs. My daughter actually likes using this app with me by her side!

Ridiculous squeaky voice. This app would be great if it used a normal voice, instead it uses s as high pitched sped up voice that is hard to understand. It speaks faster than the words are highlighted so it does not work for teaching how to read! I don’t understand why the app uses this voice. Please tell me if I can change it. It also only let my daughter write her name once and knows we can’t figure out how she can do it again, which is all she wanted to do at first.

Good and bad. It’s good with the learning but with the reading sometimes it doesn’t understand words they have already said. I said FoFo still didn’t. Broken. Fix.

Probably not the best review but decent enough. To be honest I thought you could choose the language your learning and and it would teach you the most basic basics like the number, colours, alphabet and so on, that made it a little disappointing but still, I thought the monkey were cute.

Great app - just wish another accent was available. Fantastic app. My daughter loves it and I know it is helping her learn! My only complaint is I wish there was an option for an Australian accent because now my daughter has also learn the American pronunciations

Hate this now now. I am not happy because I didn’t I want to do download it download it again but it’s not worth worth it because it’s not doing it I tried to do a password or a phone number but I can’t describe it what are you what it is because I don’t know I have to tell my mum that means have a password or a phone number for you because you know you know I don’t care you know what I mean if you do go IBCs

Am I Safe?. Luckily I Don’t Need To Waste My Time, I No Need To Ask Adults Creating Accounts Are Easy Peasy! Also I don’t hear any memes about the reading duolingo so I think I’m safe. For now

My Brother LOVES this❤️. Before I downloaded this app for my brother, he would always be watching TV or playing video games. Now, he is ADDICTED to this app. It became his brand new video game. Thank you so much for creating this app.

Great. So good

Fun and educating for Kids. I am overwhelmed after downloading this beautiful FREE app from Duolingo...Awesome job done by the App Developers ! Thumbs up for engaging my kid during this Corona Pandemic. Grateful to you,Duolingo!

Super App for Kids. Excellent intuitive app to introduce letters and words to kids. My 3yo daughter loves letters now and can write her own name!

ABCDEFGH I JKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ. Face the rage of me😡

My daughter LOVES this 🤩. My daughter used to always watch TV and play a game called roblox,I randomly downloaded this app because I thought she could learn from it! And she did! It was her favourite learning app,I think because there’s not so many things you have to learn,Like an app called reading eggs,No hate to reading eggs she likes it but she doesn’t like it I don’t know what she feels about it,This is how she found it,She said she wanted to take a picture of me,but I said no,then she was looking for the photo app an she was searching though my apps, Then she found this app,she clicked on it and did the things told her real name what her sisters call her,and my Email but I was fine with that,Because she also uses this iPhone to download things, and she also knows my Email password and she started playing on it, She fell in LOVE with it,she’s done 10 in one day she’s still playing it well I mean not anymore because I’m writing this, she loves the app this is the first day and she loves it, 5 stars

Seems like a great app but could we add other languages?. I have a little sister and I was excited to get this for her as my family is bilingual and the added support would be great. I’d assumed it would be like the regular Duolingo and that I’d be able to choose a language to practise. Obviously it’s not, but I just thought it’d be a good recommendation. Either way, she loves it! :))

Not the right way to teach reading. As someone who works with kids with dyslexia, I was really excited to see this app. At first glance it looks awesome - great graphics, bright colours, fun games. But its actual approach to literacy instruction is not evidence based or recommended by experts. It focusses on letter names more than the sounds, and more importantly does not choose simple words for first time English readers to decode. The first word it teaches is ‘monkey’ - a two syllable word, and both of the vowels are confusing for early readers - the ‘o’ makes an ‘u’ sound, and the ‘ee’ sound often isn’t taught until several months into learning reading. If you are looking for an app that will actually teach your child (or yourself) to read, please look into other options, like ‘teach your monster to read’.

Nice idea and works well but.... Just downloaded the app to try and give my self an educational boost with my English but I booted up the app ad selected the option indicating that I know just about every sound that’s needed and got surprised when it put me at the point where it teaches the “c” noise which confuses me because after the language app I was under the impression that there would be a pre-test that would evaluate where I am up to but am I little bit peeved to find out there wasn’t one and now have work through all the “basics”. (Ps if this is read by the Devs will there be a placement test in the future?)

I like it. The game is very helpful, and very fun, my brother love it, before my brother’s English is very bad, because he is Chinese, but now he learn lot English word, thank you.

Great app but…. My child love learning with this app, but ever since the last update it keep crashing. please fix!!!

ughh. omg it should add more features i used to like to play with my moms but now I aint

This app is good. Ng this app is probably the best game ever than the dolinggo one it has hearts and people don't like it I like this one bc it don't have hearts

Great App. Highly recommend.. Love this app! My 3 yr old is learning to write and read through this app. It’s very well thought out, engaging and effective! I wish people didn’t give low ratings just because it doesn’t offer other languages yet. Feels unfair because it’s does a very good job of what it’s made for. For FREE!!! I won’t mind paying for this app.

Ok. It worked great and my sister loves it! Though I wish it started with a then b then c you know like the alphabetical order. Also the 9th block didn’t work it just crashed. Good otherwise.😁🤔🤓👧

Different languages. I was just hoping it provided the ability to learn different languages for kids in a fun and interactive way. This only has English as an option.

So helpful. I actually use this for a child who struggles with reading and writing. They absolutely love it and I can say that progress has been made. However, I feel like it would be more efficient if you could add more pauses to the books and activities especially as he’s a slow learner.

Fantastic!. Great app! I find it generous that it is offered for free, very high quality app,

Love it. So does my 3 year old

Higher quality than most learning app. We have been using the app to teach our 4 year to read and write. The app is a great supplement to her pre-k school work!

More languages please!!!. I really wish I could learn to write in other languages and not just English.

A great resource. My LO is 4 years old and loves going through the journey with Bea, Fou Fou and Duo. They have figured out how to unlock each level and is determined to collect all the books. Thank you for making such a great free resource for kids!

Increase languages option. I wish that this offered other languages as would wish to do it in Latin

Please add landscape for iPad. Would be a lot easier to use this in landscape on my iPad Also too repetitive to keep a kid’s attention most of the time.

App in French. Hello. My daughter loves this app but I would like to know if it's available for the kids to learn French? Thanks

Good. It’s a good app and teaches kids to read and learn

Great for 2 to 4 year old kids. The app is so engaging and fun for the kids, and you can tell they are learning. Great job Duolingo, appreciate the free learning resource.

Awesome. I’ve had it for one in a half days, and it’s great! My sister cry’s when apps are locked but this is free! I asked her if she liked it and she said this: It’s a bit hard but I like it. But it’s good that it’s a bit hard.😃😃😃 Over all amazing!🥳

Nice bud weird game. It take way to long to lean a language it take about tree years. I don’t like how if you lose your 5 heart you can not play for 5 days. I don’t really like the game but it is okay. If there are kids that are playing they would like to learn a language easy but it is a little hard. But in the end it is a good game I like how it motivates you well to play as much as you want a day. My friend has been playing for a year and she still cannot say a sentence.

MORE LANGUAGES. i’m learning japanese and i would love if it offered more languages, giving 3 star bc i have not tried it yet

My son dingle has learned every language from this game. He is dingle

Super!. C’est vraiment bien fait, bravo, La version française s.v.p.

More levels please. My 5 yr old really loves the stories and she hopes there are new books and challenging levels coming soon

Really impressed!. Wow, I just downloaded this app and did the first few lessons with my 5 year old. This is a very intuitive app and teaches in a very methodical way. I am a teacher and I definitely approve this app so far. For those saying you wish it started with a, then b, etc. it is actually better to start with m as it is a frequently used consonant. Vowels are more complicated than consonants as they have 2 sounds. Best to start with a few frequent consonants, then short a sound, and then you can quickly start building simple words. This program is definitely well thought out and I honestly can't believe it’s free and ad free. Great job duo lingo!

Free, fun, fantastic!. Thank you Duolingo - free education is good for everyone. My boys love this app and I’ll be subscribing to Duolingo Plus to support your mission.

Duolingo account login not working. We absolutely love this app. My 2.5 year old enjoys this during her screen time and is so happy learning new letters and repeating the sentences in stories. We have had no problems with the apps other than it not allowing me to log in with my duolingo account! If you could fix that feature so I could have her access her path on other devices that would be great!

More Languages Please!. I would love to learn to read and write in more languages than one. Thank you!!! But otherwise this app is great!

I wish it was also in French. My son already knows Spanish, he is small, we are currently in Canada and he is in a French school, he would love to have this application in French to help him

Üodmcəööq. Oüijdmcııəaösömo ospspğxəşx pçksç ə püöüğdplçöpsp dıdləüıxç x,s ısösö x

Won't allow me to login. can some one conact me. I like the game but have not been able to acess it. keeps telling me something went wrong.

Great so far. My toddler is loving it! I love that it doesn’t follow the alphabet. Instead, it starts with the most common letters to start kids reading right away. We’re on the 5th letter now. My only negative comment is that the narrator who is teaching the letter i, pronounces iguana like “ee-guana” instead of “eh-guana” and that was confusing for my toddler.

Good app. 😻 I love it thank you for the app

Best Learning App!. My 3 & 2 year old love it! They use it almost every day. I hope they come out with grades 2-6 as well and other subjects like Math, Science and French. Very clean and distraction free environment. I love the minimalist interface. They are 3 & 5 now and still love using their duo app daily. Their favourite part is the stories!

Hands down best game. The gameplay isn’t ambiguous. It’s straight to the point. Thank you Duo.

Amazing. So great it’s FREE no in app purchases or anything if someone reads this in the future now it made my life so much easier I LoVE the new update 😁😁😁 I love duo lingo I have all versions please respond 🙏🙏🙏🤗🤗

Unauthorized charges. The same day I downloaded this app I’ve been charged nearly $40 for 3 transactions by a “VIBER EUR LUXEMBOURG” without my authorization.

Good but has bugs. We loved playing this with my 3 year old until it stopped saving our progress. We’ve been stuck on 10 stars for a couple weeks. Doesn’t save when we finish and we have to redo the same exercises. Pretty frustrating for a previously great app.

Love. Super great and so fun. Will this be in French soon?

Good. It’s a good app but before there was many languages to learn I hope you add Arabic. I want my little brother to learn Arabic.

My 3yo loves it and by having fun she’s learning it so much. Perfect for #StayHome time. :)

Other languages?. When will you have more languages? Like dutch

Animal problem. Hi, My name is Adam, I can’t teach my baby brother named Andy because of the animal profile pics. Andy is so addictive to animal collections. This will be long time to solve, wait for 5 years (until Andy grow up 7 years) until he knows.

Only one flaw. I absolutely love this app, the only reasonI gave it four stars is because my daughter uses it on the iPad and the stand only works horizontally and this app only works vertically. I wish it would turn!! Please fix this please please please!

Duolingo. Esto es muy bueno me encanta Duolingo abc 👍🏻🎖🇩🇪🇨🇦

Simply wow.! An amazing app.. I tried different apps for my 4 YO and I believe this is the best. Well designed lessons with high quality animations. Still wondering how this app is free. And for that many thanks to the team.

En français?. Si ceci est un succès avez-vous des plans pour une version française?

Suggestion on colors. Please, add colors for kids to choose with which to write letters! It would be more engaging, as they get tired of constant writing without a little bit of art! Otherwise this app taught my kid all the letters and sounds so beautifully! Great job!

Remove the errors punishment system!. Was great until the introduction of the hearts system. Kids hate it.

russian. please add alphabet for different languages!

Needs improvement. I’ve been teaching my twins to read using this app and it has some great features. It also has some odd gaps. Three things especially need fixing - 1. They do not teach the th sound combo, despite teaching other such combos, like sh and even zz and ss! 2. They don’t teach long vowels / how to use silent e, which is a huge miss 3. There is no way to manually skip forward or backward if a child already knows a letter. There are three general placement tiers, but parents and teachers are not given manual control. Because of this, the app can be quite tedious and force play of multiple lessons which aren’t actually needed by the child. The only work around is to complete all the lessons with one child and then have the freedom to run the lessons in any order for other children.

Thankful. We’ve been using this app for 3 days and I am in love. My daughter is special needs and doesn’t have the best attention span but THIS definitely helps so much. And I already knew she recognized her alphabet, but this kicks it up a notch. Wish I could give the creators a big hug 🤣.

My toddler loves it!. My son learned to recognize capital letters pretty early, but then lately it seems he has forgotten them. I’ve tried a few different approaches to try teaching letters again, and this has by far been the best thing I’ve found!! He actually asks to play “the owl game” now.

Great app overall. I’ve been using it to teach my brother how to read and write, but my brother doesn’t take the tasks it gives him very seriously. For example, in the writing part of the app, it will give an outline of the letter, but my brother will make a scribble that barely resembles what he was supposed to have written and it still passes. Maybe the developers could tweak some of the lessons a little so that its harder for children like my brother to intentionally mess around with them.

10stars+. My sister has wanted games on my phone for a long time and I had Duolingo to learn a language and it advertised this so I got it and after seeing her do it I started playing with it myself and I loved it it is easy and fun and not a mindless game or a app that forces her to do stuff and I love the joke of the day! If anyone reads this review I highly recommend this app!!!❤️❤️❤️✏️📒👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Amazing. I found this app and decided to check it out for myself to see how it works. I love the way it’s set up and how you teach not just how to pronounce the letters but how to write them and recognize them in words. I can’t wait for my nephew to be learning letters so I can see him use this. I still use it myself because the way it works is actually fun and interesting!

This app is perfect for kindergarten/pre-k skills. We use this app daily and it is a great tool for school readiness. My son uses a stylus with the app and it teaches him sight words, phonics, letters, and fine motor skills while remaining entertaining. He always wants to do more once he gets started and loves reaching new stories. I hope to use this for both of our children. It has truly been an invaluable tool.

Love it. This is one of the best Duolingo apps ever whenever I am not reading a book or I don’t want to sometimes I go onto Duolingo ABC to learn and write it’s so fun and so many awesome adventures to explore. I love all the characters and what they do. Here is a thank you to all of the creators of Duolingo ABC thank you for making this game it helps me read write and learn so thank you.

Preschooler Emergent Reader. The only complaints I have for this app are 1. The app won’t hear my daughter say something right and then say it was correct when she said the wrong word. My child is 4 years old. 2. I feel like there isn’t enough repetition of lessons at times. Though my daughter is now asking for help to spell words now that we are at level 6.

Amazing. I was very excited to see that they came out with something more geared toward children. My 3 year old loves it and even my 1.5 year old is trying to play. I saw that it just recently came out so I’m excited to see if they will continue expanding and adding languages. As for right now, my daughter is learning is her alphabet and more in a fun and interactive way. Great app.

This app is so good. Well, my daughter was just starting to read, so I bought Duolingo, ABC, and I am sooner or later she was in there, just reading all by herself so I differently recommend this app has more than just reading it is spelling and more and I think it really encouraged her to be independent, so I highly recommend this app. Thanks, Duolingo ABC help my daughter real like a rockstar.

Absorbing and amusing. Our 6-year-old grandson, who has learned the basics of reading, was thoroughly absorbed and delighted by the stories. He figured out the user interface and was comfortable navigating the app. The nature of the different buildings/levels on the quest to pick up books didn’t make sense to me, but he didn’t care and was happy. Probably could have gone on for hours if I hadn’t pulled him away for lunch!

Needs work. The letter “r” does not sound like “ra.” It’s rrrrrr. So disappointed that the very first letter it tried to teach my son was “r” since their letter sound was wayyyyy off. If you pronounce “r” like “ra,” you’re confusing children when they are trying to decode and sound out words. It is “rocket” not “ra-ocket.” This isn’t a minor flaw, and it needs to be fixed. I like how repetitive it is so the letters stick, just super bummed that it was repetitively wrong. I’ll keep using the app for now. I am hoping this is an isolated issue since it is a common mistake when teaching phonics.

I’m happy. You should use it because it help my kids I am poor we only have one phone in the house the kid wanna do Spanish because my mom speaks Spanish in two weeks The whole family knows Spanish so I am very grateful now we can go to my mom it’s been as long as many time as now we live with her so thank you can you please reply I’ll be reading it

Our favorite learning app, hands down!. I have a 7 and 4 year old who both love this app. My 4yo is severely speech delayed and in the last two weeks of having this app, I’ve noticed a huge difference already. I love the email notifications I get with all their accomplishments and fun things to help them along. Fantastic app, I wish I could give it more stars!

Would be 5 stars with multiple users. This app is great and both of our daughters love it. Only problem is that there are not multiple users. If we want to switch between our kids the content starts over and progress is lost. Multi kid support would be so great if it’s not too much work to implement. I of course understand this is a free app. And a fantastic one at that! With multi user, I would easily this as many stars as possible.

AMAZING. Amazing app. I use it with my twins (age 6). They love it. I like that they can have their own profiles. They see it as a fun game and constantly ask to play it. It has improved their reading so much. As we speak English Spanish French and Chinese at home, I am eager for you add new languages. Thanks for the amazing app. Keep up the good work. I also use Duolingo for my chinese and I love it. I prefer it over Rosetta Stone.

It holds his attention. I have paid for other learning apps that probably have great content but he doesn’t want to use them. This one he asks me to play and he usually spends at least 15 minutes or more learning. I have seen a great improvement in just a week compared to months with ABC mouse. Doing a great job of making an easy to learn app❤️ The only comment I have for developers is to make apps for colors/numbers/sight words maybe.

Needs multiple child setting. The way it’s set up right now only 1 child can use it. It is geared towards age so if you have another child that would like to use it you have to start completely over. Would be nice to be able to add a child in settings and switch between accounts so both could utilize the app. Other than that it’s a great learning tool. Sometimes misses what my kid says or marks it wrong when he says the correct word though.

I’m new to this but I love it already!. I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old they both like using it. I just started teaching my 3 year old capital and lowercase letters and it was a bit of a struggle. This teaches that and so much more and I can just supervise and supply encouragement and recognition. I love how it’s easy for my 3 year old to understand and navigate through. My kids hate abc mouse but love this. It only needs some type of way for me to track what they learned and what they’re struggling with.

Kid profiles. So far I really love this app. The design and content is put together well. The thing I am having a problem with is there is only one child profile that you can make. If it were able to have one for each of my three children that I can switch back and forth to, it would be much better. Please develop this feature for us parents with multiple children. I would also love to be able to see a progress bar for each child. Has tons of potential!

Omg, so great!. My little cousin, just got this game, and at first she thought it was really bad, because she didn’t want to learn anything. But then, she tried it, and then she got into it!This app is really great, and she is starting to learn how to read write and spell! This game is so great I hope more people get it! 😁😁🥳

No mic option doesn’t exist. My son is nonverbal. Severely autistic and nonverbal. He’s doing pretty well with the app, until, of course, we reach an exercise where he has to read aloud… aka speak. I don’t see an option to turn that off. Unlike in the language learning app. We need that option really bad. I know you can do it because you’re amazing Duo, so please 🙏 I want him to continue learning

Needs Work. This is great for kids that you can’t get to concentrate with pencil and paper. My issues are that when it prompts you to read the word on screen out loud, it will literally take the kid saying “What?” because they didn’t hear the instructions EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It also picks up background noise as an answer or even words that don’t sound like what’s supposed to be read. I feel like there should also be some restrictions on pressing things too early, as we’ve had issues with the kid just pressing buttons without finishing listening to instructions.

Does a really good job keeping kids engaged. I almost never let the kids on smart devices as I don’t believe it’s the best way to learn, generally, but I do like that this seems to reach my kids and engage them in several different ways. They are too young for formal instruction in literacy in their schools so just about everything they’ve learned, they’ve picked up from this app - a surprising amount in a short span of time.

Best app to help kids learn alphabet and their sound. This is the best app me and my kid tried to helm him start reading. Struggling parents like me appreciate all you do to help the kids which are the investment in our future. I appreciate that like other apps this is not just one trial or one level game then it becomes paid and I won’t even know if it works for my child or not. keep up the good work.

Duolingo ABC. My name is Tanya Grace And I’m the 1 that’s has done ✔️ the ratings and review for Duolingo too! Im a Duolingo fan!! I’m 41 yrs old and I have a learning disability (LD) And I can do well reading so I was curious 🤨 2 c what it’s like 👍🏼 And I do recommended 4 ppl with special Ed and/or having trouble 👿 reading 📖 and with their speech 🎤! The Duolingo apps deserves 2 b #1 with a 5 star ⭐️ rating And the most recognized app!! Congratulations 🍾🎈🎉🎊 and keep up 🆙 with the good 😊 work!!

Five stars. Love the app!! I’m a Prek teacher and think it’s very easy and fun for kids. The only wish I have would be if it was offered in Spanish!! It would be an amazing app to help with my bilingual students! Often times bilingual apps are pricey or have a ton of ads! It would be amazing to have one where Spanish speakers could learn the alphabet, beginning sounds, and writing practice for FREE.

Good for autistic, kids or ADHD kids. My daughter has ADHD autism and anxiety. This game has helped her so so much with her communicating and I know she’s a little older than that age she’s 11 gonna buy anything if that helps her and actually we have noticed a change of a communication and reading skills because her reading skills was in kindergarten and I was like a first grader. You are so proud of this app.

What I found on this... Game therapy is not just for diseases, actually game therapy means by learning you activate new neural pathways so the attention shifts from one region on your neocortex to another one so your issues change, your mindset and challenges change, your problems change.. For kids colorful game and sounds mean everything so Duolingo for kids app is the best of best for teach kids new challenges so new visions

It is so awesome. My little sister is now so good at spelling and reading in only one hour she’s so good i think it’s an awesome app for children like my little sister she never new how to spell read write until today she did not even know how to spell her name until today I give the app a five star

Speech delay. My brother is in kindergarten and has speech delay his teachers have told us that he probably has autism but with this app he has learned so much that he has started to use more worlds as he talks definitely recommend he has been saying that he love duo (the owl) and myself I use Duolingo to learn Korean love the app

Doesn’t correct mispronounced words. I downloaded the app myself to test before giving to my kindergarteners. The app itself is fun and engaging, but whenever the app asks me to pronounce something it accepts anything I say as long as it ends the same as the word. Example: quilt - accepted felt … queen - accepted dream … etc etc. Not great when teaching kids to read… I’d love them to fix this issue and I’d give this app 5 stars.

I’ve had this for years. I am downloading it again. Please read.. I got this game when I was three. I was such a good reader, and I just want to say thank you to all the Duolingo ads I’ve ever used you have been in my life forever. Thank you so much. I am seven in first grade now reading I can read really really long words. Thank you so much Duolingo. I’m gonna see if I can set my reading level. Have a good one.✋🏻

Top 2 FREE apps for toddlers. Wow! I’m super impressed! My newly 3 year old has been using this app for months and she chooses to play with it. Very well thought out. I love that my toddler likes to go back to old lessons after she has done a few new ones. I love how short each lesson is so toddlers don’t get bored. This is great for toddlers or kids starting to learn English. Can you make this in Spanish?!

Love but please add other Languages. We absolutely love this program in combination with Khan Academy Kids as a fun supplement for homeschooling young kids. Really appreciate high quality free education apps. Would be willing to pay for more offline options as well, as our internet is unreliable. We live overseas, and would love an Duolingo for Kids for French! So pretty much, preschool in French. There is NO good language learning apps for kids or even good French preschool kindergarten apps.

Amazing, just wish there was more.. Incredible education app! After trying every edu app in this age bracket that we could find, only Duo ABC and Khan Academy Kids have resulted in long term legitimate educational value. My only complaint, which has nothing to do with the app, is that there are no other alternative apps of this quality.

Weird voice effect on Joytab!. My 2 year old sister started using this app on my IPhone then moved on to her tablet, a Joytab. I logged in and let her do her lessons, but something was off. There was a high pitched voice which said phrases from the books really fast, even I couldn’t comprehend what it said without the text. Please let me know how to turn this setting off or please fix it!! My sister and I love this app and would hate to let it go because of this one problem!

Best kids app!. Clean easy interface. My 2 year old loves it and is learning to trace and her letters! I know it’s rated for older kids, but she sometimes likes to scroll to the bottom. It would be awesome to have a start next level button when she gets lost down there. Thank you for the best kids app I have ever used!

Excellent gamification and skills. One of the best app designs I have seen. The thought and layers of content that go in to each exercise is impressive. The best part is it simple for my kindergartener to complete independently and learn while having fun. I have actually used this app instead of the makeshift virtual learning our school is doing!!

She loves it. She’s sometimes silly and annoying, but that’s not your fault.. This is the best my sister loves this. She is only four years old and she is actually reading the words. I think everybody should use this app. I kind of think about using that too. I’m too lazy to make an account though. Plus I already have regular Duolingo so good for the app developer I guess 🙂

To the developer. I think it would a great idea to have other languages here for example, Japanese, in Duolingo it has that option, it’s still hard for me to learn though, and I think it would be good for others (including me) if they want to start off by their ABC’s to words, the sentences, I would appreciate if you would respond, have a good day, or night.

Really great. We love using this with our toddler. The only frustrating part is it doesn’t account for a toddler’s curiosity. During lesson prompts if the child taps any part of the screen it assumes they are ready to do the lesson… thus the child loses the option to hear the prompt being asked of them. Perhaps they do not let the lesson move forward until the questions/prompts are stated uninterrupted. Otherwise so great!

Success!. My four year old is responding really well to this app. I purchased a stylus that she can use to trace the letters with. No waste of paper. No tears. I only have her do it about 15 minutes at a time once or twice a day. There’s a pleasant voice to guide the lessons, so she can do it with very little monitoring. Highly recommend!

This is a great addition to curriculum!!. I am a homeschool parent that has one child who is above average in learning (3 year old in K), and another child with ADHD, and this is a great addition to their reading curriculum!! My ADHD child has enjoyed this and we have had a few lightbulb moments where there used to be a disconnect in her phonics. She stays focused and interactive! The program also adapts to their abilities. Thank you and keep up the great work, Duolingo!!

Lots of Good Things. My 3 year old is loving this app. She looks forward to “school.” She’s only on day 4 or 5, but she can tell what she gets to do in each lesson. One thing I would like is to have “accounts” so more than one kid can play. My 2 year old like to watch but doesn’t get to play. I haven’t looked around the app much to see if there’s a time or lesson limit per day. I do have a time limit set for the app in general though. We play on the iPad. Good potential!

Great app, needs more personal voices. I love using this app with friends’ kids as well as with students. But the voice of the reader is very outdated and doesn’t speak smoothly and fluently. Technology has come so far past the point of “find the…*unnaturally long pause*… A.” Some kids loose interest quickly and I think that’s part of the reason. It’s not as engaging. But the curriculum is great and kids that become engaged learn quickly!!

Mostly good. My son really enjoys this app and I like lots of things about it. My one issue is the voice recognition. He doesn’t get good practice reading words out loud because it will literally accept anything as answer. Half the time he says “What’s that, mommy?” And before I can explain it it says it’s correct and moves on. One thing that might solve the problem is if it would pause and wait for you to hit a button before you were ready to record.

English not Spanish. I didn’t read much about the app before downloading, I just recognized Duolingo for kids. I’ve navigated the app and can’t wait to let my 3 year old learn and play with it. Would be amazing if there was a way to add additional languages for bilingual children.

Loving it!. Loving it so far for my 4 year old. It’s engaging and easy to navigate for her. I also love that it is AD free. Their customer service is fantastic too. I had some feedback about having different profiles for different kids, and they emailed me back same day saying that they’re already working on it! I’ve loved Duolingo for years, and I can see that I will love this app for a long time for my kids. Thanks!!
