Very helpful. During the past several years, I’ve tried out several dressage test apps. USDF TestPro (and its companion FEI Dressage) are the ones that get it right. Using audio together with visualization was particularly effective for memorization. The ability to reduce hints and delay the audio as your learning progresses is also a helpful feature. The only thing that I would change: the app reads everything out loud including the bracketed scoring instructions. These lines of text are primarily instructions for the judge (and secondarily to inform competitors of how the referenced movements are scored and weighted). As the test instructions clearly state, the bracketed text is never read out loud when calling a test. Hearing them read out is both distracting and annoying when you’re learning a test. I liked this app enough to gift it to my (very picky) trainer...will await her verdict.

PLEASE bring back the old format. The new formatting is awful. You can’t even see the movement / gate changes as you did with the horse as in previous versions. And the colors / overall design is terribly distracting. Is there going to be a USEF version similar to previous apps with EquiTests? What a shame to ruin a fabulous app you previously had.

Great app to help memorize tests!!. This app really helped me memorize tests and keep them in my head

Love it, just needs apple watch support!!. The app is exactly whats needed- all thats missing is a way that it can be controlled by the apple watch so that the test can be read and controlled at your pace when practicing alone. Start, pause, go back a step, go forward a step, control volume all from the watch. Ideally, it would utilize the watch speaker to read aloud too. But I’d settle just for the controls!!

New format and design is awful. Content is fine, but the new design and format is awful! The side bar is distracting. You can’t see the full movement. The graphics are amateurish. Please, please keep the current test content but bring back the former design.

Way to busy.. Please go back to the old format. This one is tooooo confusing.

Great app!. Lots of improvements! Totally worth it!

Disappointing. On previous apps the suggested arc of any corner was given, now they are displayed as if you are expected to produce a turn on the haunches/a precise 90° turn at each corner, which is probably unlikely at the lower levels. I’d like to see more elaboration on any judges expectations in that respect.

Hate the graphing...app not worth the increased price tag!!!. I just want to draw the test not be forced into all these goofy graphics that only show your line if you hit the exact spot on the screen and the line disappears as you go through the test. So, you cannot visualize the balance of the test. I have ended up using the pdf of the test on this app and graphing on the old EquiTests app! Even in competition mode the graphics are distracting!!! Read responses from previous reviews who were more articulate and basically developer says they took feedback from juniors and weren’t interested in what AAs and open riders thought. Really just want to turn their graphics off and draw the test!!!

Not at all user friendly!. The most unfriendly app ever!!!

Awful format. Wanted this just to have all the tests on hand. The actual text is so small I will never to be able to read without my glasses which I don’t wear while riding. Which there was an option to just have the actual test as full screen. Total disappointment!

Great app!. Love the versatility of this app!

Disappointed. Obnoxious & unclear considering how good the previous was. Purchased out of necessity, but very disappointing. Menu much clearer in previous, new side tabs annoying and a nuisance to make go away. Differences in movements within the same gait super unclear. All diagrams are bulky and not smooth like it’s predecessor. Slow to flip through and transitions unclear. I loved being able to quickly identify coefficients:transition points on previous app too. Prediction dots obnoxious, and distracting. The horse and patterns on previous is much easier for children to follow as this has always been a great teaching tool and helped make dressage not look so overwhelming as a written test for newbies. I feel this new app is overwhelming and seriously more difficult. Sometimes the previous movements don’t go away sometimes they do. Ugh. Why did a good thing have to change so much??? Please update it back to the EquiTests format!!! I’d pay more for it to go back!

Absurdly helpful. Just started my dressage journey. I was super anxious trying to figure out what on earth the instructions were saying on paper. This gave me VERY clear instructions and the various methods together to help me memorize the tests. Being able to not only HEAR the test, but to SEE it play out was great. If I wanted to test myself in other ways, I’m able to. Personally, I think it fits most learning styles. I’m recommending it to everyone.

Totally worth the money. Helps me prepare and memorize the tests with many helpful modes. You can listen to a walkthrough or trace the whole test on the screen to test your memory. Includes rule book and score sheets.

Can you make this for Apple Watch. Excellent app, would be perfect on my Apple Watch while riding

Increased cost with new tests?. I used this in the past and loved the app. I’ve heard that there is an increase in price with the new 2023 app. That said, it is not clear in the descriptions what the price is. I will not purchase or subscribe to anything without knowing what the price/costs will be. I’ll be going old school with paper copies until communication is more transparent regarding the app.

Ugly and unsophisticated. Where to start... it’s just clunky and awkward, almost as if user experience wasn’t even a factor in its creation. The side bar needs to be able to be swiped away where ever it is touched, not just a button at the top. It’s beyond annoying. The logo for the app that displays on your phone is different than the logo you see when the app is open (which is a ridiculous cartoon image). Branding is inconsistent and the colors are abrasively bright. Suggest picking a theme and sticking to it. It’s just all over the place and messy instead of clean and simple.

Disappointed. First there are two errors in developing horse Grand Prix Second I cannot figure out how to find the directive ideas for a test those are very important and necessary for a good score

Test pro. The last APP far superior. For example, you could see the horse under the line doing a half pass or doing a shoulder in. Very helpful for visual people. Takes longer to get to the diagram and to move from one test to another bc of tabs

Playback inconsistant. Voice and test segments out of synch. Voice tract stops working frequently.

USDF Test Ap. Difficult to figure out. Confusing.

training level 3. Training level 3 is missing audio and graphics for canter circle right lead at B. It skips right over it, goes directing to medium trot at A. I reported this very same mistake in your app last year and it is still not fixed. That is completely lame. Good grief. What a terrible job. I’ll be looking for a better app to practice dressage tests. Lisa Bohannon

Love this!. New to this app and love it! The voice was not working at first and I emailed the support people. They wrote back quickly...the ringer was off in my phone. With ringer on audio worked perfectly. Love this app!

Audio doesn’t work. I like app the app, but having problems with getting the audio to work. As in it’s never worked. 🤦‍♀️

Best way to memorize a test. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star was because I did not like when you swiped something off the screen, it looks like it is bouncing off the side of your phone before it disappears.

Unhappy. Audio does not work. Does not explain movement while showing the court illustration. Would like my money back.

Super helpful for Adult Amateurs. I use this app all the time to assist me in memorizing my tests and also for a quick reference of what the judges are looking for in each level/ test. The visual layout resonates with how I learn. I think the app terrific and well worth the cost.

Overall good - Restart button position issues. The app is really very good. I just wish the restart button wasn’t so close to the next arrow on the diagram screen.

test pro. not bad like the addition of read test. would love to be able to run from iwatch. how do i get the volume to work again. i had turned it off and back on again and it stopped working?

Test saver!. Way useful app!!! I love the audio of the test, the visuals, all of it!! Totally worth $16 to always have the tests handy. I also like the grid overlay option to see where to be super accurate! And I can easily hand my phone to someone helping me and not have to look up tests etc. just easy. Great app 👏🏻

Really helpful. Love this app. Easy to use, and graphics are just fine. Learned new test in no time because of combined audio and visual presentation. Like the forward cues, which indicate upcoming turns, etc. Haven’t really explored tools available via links, but videos look promising.

Next, I take that knowledge and increased confidence to implement in the next level tests by taking everything I learn from using this app with me in the saddle to further refine and finesse the big picture elements with my trainer’s guidance. All the while saving my horse’s mind from getting bored and her body from overtraining (by using optimal training times, duration, and frequency). This app allows me to shave months off my upward trajectory. As an elite equestrian performance consultant and dressage competitor this is my #1 app. Thank you!

Clunky. Not nearly as elegant an interface as the previous USEF test app. The graphics are rudimentary and not terribly accurate. This app is an OK tool but it needs work.

Can’t get it to work. Just purchased and installed and trying to test it, picked a test and hit “start” for voice, but nothing happens. Any tips?

Not my favorite. Needs to be simple. This is way to complicated. I memorize all my tests and between classes glance at the app. This new app is hard to just look through the test. Too much going on. Less is more.

Revised Review. Revised 5/6/19: With the Iphone update it works great now. I can listen to the tests while riding, the pacing is a bit off, but ow I can have a “caller” while schooling solo. When this app works, it is a great tool. I can listen to the new tests in my headphones when I am riding alone. However, the sound plays only 50% of the time, when my phone’s volume is all the way up and the ringer is on. I opened it today, and the tests won’t auto play and the sound isn’t working. Frustrated with how glitchy it is. Hopefully it has an update soon...

Sound fails. I have restart my phone to reset the sound settings. Otherwise, useful.

FEI 5 yr old test???. Where are the other young horses tests? I purchased specifically for all the young horse tests and I can only find the 4yr old test. I need the 5 and 6 yr old test. Please add them in !!!!!
