What is square team app? Square Team app is the one place for your team to communicate, manage schedules, access timecards, and stay in sync — all on the go. It also allows them to see their hours worked, breaks, overtime, and estimated pay.

Built for businesses using Square, the app enables employees to clock in and out on their phones instead of at the POS, which saves time and eliminates the need for team members to crowd around the POS to clock in. Employers can manage teams more easily, adjust schedules, and empower their employees by putting critical shift information at their fingertips. Needs immediate improvement!. Square is extremely helpful to clock in and out with my unconventional job. However—the sign in process is extremely irritating. I can always count on this app signing me out each time I work, either when I’m about to clock out—which doesn’t make sense since I am signed in & clocked in—or when I need to clock in for my shift. It will say “Account is Inactive” (which again, makes absolutely no sense), then it makes me manually type in my login, which makes me late to start my shift. To top it off, there is inconsistency with the next step. Every time I have to manually type in my login, it will take me to a screen with “My Business” and other stuff which has nothing to do with me. Additionally, I wish there was a way to delete my previous employer. I am really happy with the overall function of the app itself, as clocking and in out its easy and the hours are tracked down to the minute!

Edit - they fixed it… Long term team user suddenly disappointed in new updates. Edit to review- review and messages to square made mid day on a Thursday, they responded by Tuesday, heard our cries to repair it, it was fixed by Wednesday. ….. I have always liked the app. Simple and basic, perfect for my needs. I never was concerned with all the extras. I would have appreciated messaging (not as a paid add on, I’ll just have a group text for that instead of paying for it) but the other stuff crew users seem to have liked in the past. But I have to say…. My team can no longer just go to a tab to see their schedule. I manage 3 locations and the staff goes to each different location as needed. Not only is there a way to see all schedules at one time, via the check mark location select, but now the staff needs to literally select each location one by one to find where they are scheduled and when. There used to be up until a few days ago a way for them to just see their schedule and only their schedule. That is now gone. This is ridiculous. Also, as an employer, I have no way to see the whole day at once of who will be where. This was a terrible change on both of the mentioned issues. Please fix this asap. What you changed is terrible for employers and employees alike. If this stays this way it’s going to ruin the reason I have used this app the last 4 years for scheduling. I’m going to have to go back to sending pictures of a paper schedule to staff in the mean time.

Don’t like the changes. There were some changes that were made to the app. On the home screen. It is hard to read and different. I liked the other version better. It was in bold and very easy to see the most important things. Not sure why the app was changed. But I don’t like the home screen. All I go to is time cards to see how many hours I have to work. I wish you would change it back to how the home screen used to be. where it shows my hours for the pay period. and everything else that you changed. I am not happy with it.

Awful app. The worst app to transition to after using the Crew app. Got bought out to this dinky app that does not let us do anything. I can’t add new members into the app because I get stuck at the step where it tells me to chose the permission they may have but then gives us no option but won’t let me move forward, I do not receive time off requests from our employees but neither does my manager which means the time off requests is going god knows where, and all of our information did NOT, in fact, get copied over like it said it would and I have to manually put in all of our old files from Crew. For such a big company, this is truly the biggest disappointment of an app. A total downgrade.

The app has too many bugs. The app has a great concept but I’ve had this app for about a year and half and all my fellow employees and bosses to include myself have an insane amount of bugs with the app. Especially around time for the app to update, it will bug out, not work properly, not load, not register not even be available to be accessed for like a solid 2 weeks prior to updating. It’s a hand app, I just wish for smoother updates and smoother transitions. I know this sounds like I’m complaining and it is simply because I don’t have the technological experience to try and add a solution to fox said issues.

Worse than useless. This app is so buggy it’s impossible to use successfully. Sometimes the messages just… disappear. So my employees can be sending messages that are important and time sensitive and they just go into the ether. I can see the red notifications but when I click on the app, the messaging tab has vanished. It’s not even an option, despite the fact that my employees are clearly messaging. This app is garbage at the moment. Update: Now my entire team has vanished from the app. It broke for every single employee. I reached out for assistance through the app. Waited 24- 72 hours. Was told in a canned email to contact my manager. I AM my manager. I still can’t make my team or my messages appear.

Square Payroll: Predatory and No Cust Service. Beware of square payroll. This company is predatory. During tax season of this year I asked for an independent contractor’s 1099 to be updated due to monies paid prior to using square payroll. Via email the customer service rep was responsive and helpful. I completed the excel spreadsheet as per their directions, then I received a $150 invoice from Square for “labor” even though the update amount was LESS THAN $200. When I called customer service and asked the square NOT submit this 1099 to IRS because my accountant would handle this contractor’s 1099–10 minutes after calling and sending an email—it was submitted. Now, my business has until Jan 31 to submit the amendment (at a cost to my business!). I have tried chat messages (for 1 hr), multiple calls to the payroll team, escalating it to a supervisor (the rep stated “no one will probably call you back”—and they were correct!), and many many emails. I have been shafted by this company and I will soon close my account and go with a more established payroll service like QuickBooks Payroll or ADP. They will woo you, wine and dine you to get you to sign up. Once you do…they will ghost you just like a date you met in the club. Avoid at all costs.

Impossible to pay contractors from app. Under the pay contractors section, it’s impossible to do anything beside select the person you want to pay. You can’t input hours or pay. Kind of makes the app useless. It’s been a problem in the app since forever but you could do it on the mobile site. Now the mobile site just mirrors the app.

Failure of an app. The app is fine when it works, but that is an increasingly rare occurrence. For a period of two weeks I could not access the app at all due to “updates.” Once functionality was restored, I lost access to my calendar on the app and on my desktop dashboard. Now the app claims to have no network connection, despite good Wi-Fi connection. I cannot clock in nor can I see when my next shift is. This app is a total failure, made worse by the complete absence of tech support. I expect all of these issues to persist while receiving zero communication from the company. I would only recommend this app to people I despise.

Decent but frustrating. We used Crew until they were bought out and it was cheap, effective and never had issues. Now with us required to switch to Square Team we have had a ton of issues. Adding employees and managing employees accounts have been a pain. We used the photo schedule on crew and have tried to use the announcements on square team to do the same thing but the announcements have not been viewable the past week. Square Team has been contacted and was told we would get a response in 1-3 days but it has been a week with no response. It could be a nice app but they could make it less complex and add more customization that Crew offered

Better than the others. This is definitely one of the better apps I’ve used for work. Always great my messages but notifications sound could be a little louder and if you could have the app sync with the Apple Watch 8/9 would be great. I’m used to getting notifications on my watch makes it a lot easier ( I work with my hands and not always able to stop and check my phone)

Infuriating. Stop with the unnecessary updates. Fix your interface.. This has to be the worst of the worst ever clock in/clock out for an employee. The amount of updates this app has, it’s different everytime. You guys are trying so hard to have a nice looking interface the app quits on me 5-7 times while trying to input my house for breaks. It’s seriously so frustrating. I have come back on in the morning and it doesn’t register my clicking of clock out- so I’ve had 15 times plus I’ve had clocked in for 24 hours. The app is so infuriating. To clock in I now have to click the button, the places, the title of job…that’s 9 times clicking to clock in including opening the app and hoping it 1) doesn’t have a new stupid update or 2) crash on me. I have no choice to use this app so can we please fix this damned issue. It’s been a year since I’ve started and have never had a positive experience once.

Decent app but could use improvements.. The app seems to work as intended. It displays timecards in an easily readable fashion, accurately showing times clocked in and hours worked (regular, overtime, double time, and total). The timecards section also offers a feature to allow you to view your hours worked over a user-selected period of days. This helpful feature can also be found in the paystubs section. Here, paystubs are presented so that pertinent information is easily located with detailed breakdowns of pay and taxes found at the press of an arrow. The app also offers an option to download a PDF version of your paystubs. While these two sections seem to serve their purpose well, the scheduling part of the app leaves much to be desired. There are options to set your availability, but not by date, only day of the week. This leads to team members having to set availability week by week should they need to report availability accurately through the app. Additionally, there is no option to make yourself unavailable on a day or future date. That is to say, the scheduling aspect of the app could be improved by adding features to allow you to make yourself unavailable and to set your availability by date and not day of the week. I also think as a “team app”, the app should offer a messaging system for communicating with your team. There also seems to be no option to integrate your schedule with your Apple Calendar.

Our team absolutely hates it!!. Square purchased Crew app because of how many happy thousands of users have been using it. We use Crew because of his simplistic nature, easy to navigate and fully understand right out the gate. This new app- Square is horrific logistically, a total trash pit. We’re now forced to use it because crew sold it to Square. Tried to get fancy and add in a great deal into the application such as counting your hours and how you get paid taking payments, etc. we don’t need any of those features nor can we remove them that’s just the tip of the iceberg we have team members and every single person hates this app!!

Has good features but the software needs work. Logging into the app there are issues. My company recently was bought out by new company that uses square. Having been employed by my old company that used square teams for employees, when I try to log in to my new company using my same email, it defaults to my old employer (even though they have deactivated me as an employee). There is no option in the app to switch to my new employer. Therefor, I cannot clock in, log in to see my schedule, or look at my timesheets. Another thing is that when you go to log in with Apple keychain, there is a glitch with your password where it auto populates but you have to erase the last character and re-type it. This only happens in square teams app. Not a huge deal but still something that could be adjusted.

Terrible. I honestly can’t stand this new square app. I appreciated the crew app which had 1000x more features. My organization is now looking to get a new provider and drop square. Square lacks what educational institutions and other apps have already integrated in their apps. They took off profile pics which is required for educational institutions near me and because we can’t have that that Alone is enough for us to leave. Birthday feature was also not necessary to take off especially when it helps with team morale and for office birthday parties. There were so many more features when it was the crew app! Bring back all the crew app features because square is garbage 🤮

Worst scheduling app. They have to be paying people to write these higher star reviews. It takes forever for this app to load. It logs employees out constantly and tells them to contact the employer when there is nothing the employer can do on their end. It never keeps settings set after closing out the app so you always have to go back in and reset them. From a management perspective, you cannot make changes to the schedule from the app. You have to do them from a computer. Insanely inconvenient and honestly a stupid way to go about it. What manager of a company has a computer on them at all times? And employees are always changing their schedule around and there are always moving parts so not being able to do so it’s so so silly. There is no place to see the entire team of employees you have on the app which is also kind of ridiculous. This app has not been thought out whatsoever. It looks rushed. So disappointing.

Needs more QoL Features. Could really use some more quality of life features. For instance, as many people have said, I really wish it had SOME way of saving the login information. Face/Touch ID would also be great. Also, it seems fairly inconsistent sometimes. For example, I have the big clock in button yet one of my coworkers does not. Besides those problems, it certainly does what it’s supposed to do. I still can’t help but feel like there could be more. It’s also shocking how little this app has been updated. I know you are still updating it (last update was two days ago as of writing this), so it’s shocking that you haven’t seen/responded to any of the reviews.

Great When It Actually Works. I really only use this app to clock in and out of my workplace. The functionality & layout of the app make sense, and when it works, it’s great. However, I find that I have issues clocking in/out at least a few days a week! My coworkers also have this issue. There was a period of a few weeks where none of us could clock in or out, we’d all just get an error message or it would load indefinitely. I see the square system around at so many businesses, so I’m deeply confused as to how they would allow so many tech issues to continue! Just fix it please!!

Super intuitive, easy to use. Wonderful app, definitely does everything it was designed for smoothly with incredibly well laid out pages. HOWEVER I also have to use Square Appointments and I wish that I did not have to switch back and forth a dozen times just to have the calendar and its tools. However, I understand that’s not what this app was designed for and otherwise deserves 5 stars. I just wish there was a way to enable the tools from other apps so I can just use this one and not have to switch back and forth.

New update not good. I use this at my job to clock in/out and get paid. I used to be clearly see my time card, which had hours and tips for each day. They have since changed it and I can’t see it like I used to. I have having issues with my employer and getting all my money and I can’t see it how I used to be able to and it’s very frustrating. It would be really great if this could go back to how it was. It was so much easier and made it clearer when showing it to my boss. I hope they changed it. Otherwise the app is clear for the most part but it’s just very frustrating now. Bring the old version back.

Still adjusting. We had crew app for our organization and have continued on using square. Our needs are mostly for communication so this app takes care of that need. We miss the feature of having the ability to put a picture in place of initials especially since we have employees with the same initials. (Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do that?) we miss the feature of being able to delete an entire conversation not just one message at a time. When our data transferred into square, old settings from crew came through. Old employee names, old conversations, previously deleted threads- took a bit of time to clean up. We were bought out at the new year and have a new company name which we had changed but the old name transferred through and I can't change it? We like the pin feature for messages.

Free Version??. This app is NOT worth $30 per month. I am currently in the process of trying to find a new app to use that is like our beloved Crew (so sad this got discontinued)- gold stars, able to see availability on the app (not just in some hard to get section ‘dashboard’ on the computer), everything was so easy access. I can see using Square Teams for a small business owner but not a GM just trying to manage one restaurant. I wish I could just access availability in app, post the schedule and message people. Thats ALL I need, not all the extras that this app provides. I can see how it would be nice to some but I quite frankly do not need it to run my store. A free version would be nice or even $5-$10 a month- I can do that- but $30?!?!? $360 a year?? Thats coming out of my paycheck just to communicate with my team. I would consider using Group Me but i just really liked the features Crew had. BRING CREW BACK!

I miss the old way. I liked when it had the buttons for the separate jobs on the screen right after you clocked in. Instead of the pop up screen where you have to push back button. It was a lot easier when I would take of driving and could quickly without looking click clock-in, driver, then boom I was done. Now I have the little tiny circle then the little tiny arrow back then clock-in again. Just a bit of a pain of repetition.

New update. Not a fan of the new layout! I loved the way it was before because it was so easy to see how much I was making each paycheck, when the pay period was, etc. Now it shows “my week” but it’s not helpful because I get paid biweekly. I don’t get the same ease and satisfaction of seeing the numbers increase until the pay period ends. It’s harder to navigate now, and “last pay stub” isn’t even the amount I’m getting paid out, it’s the amount I made before taxes and deductions. Please revamp the home page!

Worse every update. How does this app get worse every update? You took away the schedule tab and replaced it with "shifts" now you have to click that and then click into schedule (two clicks where it's used to be one). And you added a "team" tab. This tab isn't even functional. You click it and it shows your coworkers. Yet you can't click on them or do anything with it. Basically just a roster of your coworkers. Newsflash, we know our coworkers. I ask you put the schedule tab back on the bottom so it only takes ONE click to see your work schedule and remove the team tab because its useless. Seriously, did you guys hire a new team sometime last year because this app was amazing from May-July of last year and then has just kept getting worse!

A nightmare. Hasn’t fully worked since my boss and I fully transitioned to digital. Doesn’t let me log in. Error always popping up. Or it lets me log in and all the screens are blank. Won’t show me my schedule, my pay check: won’t let me clock in or out from my phone even tho my boss paid extra for the feature. Deleted it and redownloaded it, hasn’t fixed itself. My boss has to still manually clock me in and out. Every day for a week now it either stuck on a loading screen or a blank white screen. She paid extra for garbage. App doesn’t need any updated phone doesn’t need any updates. Idk how this app has such a high rating. My boss wishes she could get her money back since it won’t work for her main employee and she was just trying to make my life easier. It crashes every day, and doesn’t work. Do better square, people are trying to have faith in you.

Incredibly buggy. This app is incredibly buggy with the inconvenient logging in process, to scrolling through the time cards and schedule. It gets stuck at the bottom if you scroll all the way to bottom of a schedule or any page for that matter. I have found myself constantly restarting the app and deleting it and reinstalling it and restarting my phone but all the buggy issues remain. I can’t even scroll through my current time card to see how much I’m making. It’s so frustrating. This app is ridiculously buggy and an inconvenience to use. If you’re going to push updates to fix minor issues, then start with these issues.

Some products work. I’ve had square cash register for years and really love it. The square payroll is a problem and square team. If you deactivate your square payroll you cannot use your same business email to reactivate square payroll in the near future. What ends up happening is you have to create a whole new email address 😡that you cannot use throughout the square products and features and the end result is being forced to creat a new business with an email that you never used. And if you no longer want to use a feature, just don’t use it. But don’t deactivate it. It’s unfortunate that I have to seek a different payroll service outside of square. I hope they use this info to improve their product and it’s feature

The app actually doesn’t work. My place of employment just switched over to square and while some of the features have been helpful (hours and tip breakdowns) the app literally only works like once a day maybe. I can’t ever view my schedule when I would like to because the app won’t load and I’m concerned if I don’t screenshot my schedule the once in a blue moon when I am able to see it that I won’t have any way of knowing my shifts when I actually need to. It seems like it should be a ridiculously easy problem to fix and yet- I’ve tried closing the app and opening it, I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling I’ve tried on and off Wi-Fi and cellular data and been completely able to use all other apps on my phone and square is the only one that doesn’t work, it’s infuriating especially when I’m reliant on the app to know my schedule which changes every week

updates keep getting worse.. I use this app a lot to clock in and out, and to see how much i made during a shift or how much i made during the week. A lot of people get paid biweekly or weekly, I get paid weekly and ever since the new update I can’t see how much i’m getting paid. I don’t get paid for sun-sat every week, a lot of people don’t. You can’t change the dates anymore, you can only see sunday-saturday. You can’t even select one specific date. Why would you remove that feature? Every update gets so much worse, the app looks worse and operates worse.

Updates are not Improvements. Why is there such a need among the tech community to constantly change a perfectly fine app? I’m convinced they are just keeping themselves busy and trying to justify their jobs. These changes are not needed. Just make a functional app that works and is not full of glitches and… leave it alone! Believe it or not people do not enjoy constantly having to get used to new changes or find their way around a redesigned app for no reason. We have lives! These apps are tools! We don’t want new “experiences”. We want reliability and ease of use. I’ve been using this Square Teams app for about 4 months. It worked fine. Today it was updated, unnecessarily. The “new redesigned home tab with updated clock-in experience” is crap. It no longer says “your next shift is” and instead just shows a HUGE date and time which, because it lacks a title almost looks as though it’s displaying the current time. This was initially confusing rather than informative and now that I know what it is, it actually just annoys me. The change was not a good one. The remaining info on the home screen is just less informative doubled up info that’s already available on the time sheets screen. The old home screen was easier to look at, simpler, more organized. Stop changing things for the sake of change. It’s obvious you are just keeping employees busy for no reason. Make a good app, and then leave it alone!

Works Most of the Time + One Suggestion. The app does what you need it to do. Sometimes it won’t load something and you have to restart the app or it won’t let you log in, but it usually resolves itself after a few minutes. One useful feature I’d like to see added is a notification to clock out 5 to 10 minutes before the end of your shift. That way there would be a reminder on screen before going over time.

No In-App Support. Today the schedule for this week disappeared. I can see LAST week’s and NEXT week’s schedules, but not this week. Other team members and the owner can see it, so this is not an issue with settings. I tried re-logging in. I tried reinstalling. Nothing worked. There’s ZERO in-app support for users and the support link here in the App Store directs to SquareUp online - where, after an hour going back and forth with a support agent, I was told they couldn’t help me because I’m not the business owner or an authorized representative. But they WILL email with the owner within 48 hours to troubleshoot via email the issue with MY app not loading this week’s schedule. So essentially, they offer no app support for employees and there’s no way for users to get assistance for this product. I gave it 2 stars because it worked at one point. iPhone SE 2016

Good enough, but some frustratingly bad UI.. There are a number of intuitive features in the app, and the layout is easy enough to navigate. My frustration comes from the “time off” option. When selecting dates for a time off request, the app only lets you choose from a calendar that cuts off halfway and doesn’t allow you to scroll down. Turning your device to its side only cuts off even more of the screen. Im honestly shocked this hasn’t been addressed, as it’s literally impossible to select any dates later in each month. This has been a huge inconvenience for me and my team for such a vital feature. This on top of frequent but brief outages of the app as a whole make it an annoyingly inconsistent experience, especially for an app designed to facilitate as much as it is.

Could use some work for independent contractors. Overall, the app interface is easy to use. My biggest issue is the lack of thought on the employee/contractor side of things. As an independent contractor, I work multiple long term gigs in the fitness industry. A lot of small studios use Square Team, but I have to create a new account every time I want to get paid with a new studio. I wish there was a feature to have ONE account with ONE e-mail address that could have a toggle between businesses that pay you.

Nice app, when it loads. All I want to do is clock in, but that's not possible unless the app can load. Each week, the number of times when it just won't load goes up. Some mornings I have to close and reopen it four or five times, and even uninstalling it isn't a guaranteed fix. Someone in management is cutting corners and I'm going to lobby for us to get a time clock with punch cards if they don't fix this soon. I did try making contact, but not surprisingly there is a crap AI interface, and when you can reach a human I hope you're not hard if hearing or that you have any trouble understanding accents. I'm not going to spend my time waiting on hold or asking the rep to repeat, and I see others also have problems which means it's not just me.

Inconsistent and cumbersome.. The main problem most of us (workmates) have is that the “clock in” feature doesn’t always register… So you may work an entire day only to realize wants clocking out that it never clocked you in. Most people are in a rush and present at their job. Once they get there, so looking at the phone to make sure you’re clocked in kind of slips from priority. There’s also been some issues with people having to login every time they are using the app. The new changes where you have to also input, your position adds to the annoyance of inconsistency with the app upon checking in.

Login Issues. The login issues with this thing are insane. I will log in, and then only be logged-in to one section of the app. Like, I log in to the home screen, but dare I click on “schedule” and I have to log in AGAIN. I also have the issue where sometimes I try to log in, and when I click the “sign in” button, it will redirect me to google on my safari, with no way of actually signing in. It’s not just me, everyone at my job has issues with this thing. I can never clock in on time because I’m spending like, five minutes trying to log into the app while customers need to be served. It also signs you out pretty much anytime you click away from it, so the glitches are magnified because I have to deal with them every time I use the app, even if I was logged in 5 minutes prior. Other than that it’s a great app, but I find myself avoiding having to use it because it’s such a pain.

Absolute garbage app. I added my direct deposit info and finally got paid! But it’s super unclear how one actually gets their money transferred. And then I tried using the Split feature and add another account and now it not only deleted my first account but neither are there! It’s erroring claiming that it’s undefined and won’t allow me to get at least the original account added. So Square gets to hold on to the money I EARNED and make it impossible to get it in my account. There’s no support in the app so you’re basically screwed and the app gets to roll in your cash because why would they care about letting go of the money you earn?! I’m going to report to my employer and hopefully they will go back to paper checks or another system because this is a scam.

Not great. What can I say about an app that freezes or crashes every other time you use it? Not great. Also, Square seems to like pushing out updates that make all the functions harder to use and more inconvenient, and they don’t even bother to tell you it’s going to happen ahead of time. There are also functions they could easily put in to make information easier to view, but they haven’t done it. I gave two stars instead of one, because if you can get through the inconvenient part, it does eventually basically work. Mostly.

Rarely Works as it Should. As an employee, i’ve seen some horrible apps and this one isn’t the worst, but it’s one of them. You have to click on each button at least 5 times before it shows you what you need. Otherwise you’re getting a “Something went wrong please try again later”. Or a blank screen. Other times it doesn’t work at all. As someone who’s constantly checking their schedule and their hours, it’s extremely irritating that it almost never works as it should. For an app that updates all the time to “fix bugs” I find it disappointing that they aren’t really fixing anything. Wish I didn’t have to use this app, and if I ever become an employer you can bet your bottom dollar I will never use square. As a computer science major, this should be relatively simple to fix but obviously they just can’t figure it out or don’t care to.

This is a terrible app. So never mind that when I tried to reach out to customer support, I was told they couldn’t answer my question on the chat, they told me to call their 800 number where I then attempted to verify my account for 12 minutes before I hung up. Coming from a more user friendly app, this one is awful- all of the basic functions we used on the previous platform have disappeared by switching to this app and half of my employees can’t even login since we switched (they were previously able to get in, but once this became our only team communication app, they can’t access anything). I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone that actually needs to communicate with their employees.

Awful!. I was a Crew App user until they were purchased by Square. Instead of keeping Crew (great app btw), users were made download Square Team and took down Crew, apparently integrating the systems. Square Teams has about half of the features Crew app and it sends notifications about half the time. Additionally, you can’t use this app on your desktop computer. I could use Crew on my work computer and communicate with my team without constantly having to pick up my cellphone 🙄🙄🙄. This has lead to decreased productivity for myself and my team. If i could give it NEGATIVE STARS, i would. We paid for Crew app subscription annually, but we will not be renewing any paid subscriptions on this terrible app. I am currently looking for a different means of company wide communication for our business 🤦‍♀️

Doesn’t seem to integrate schedules well. I only use this from the employee perspective but: This app is great when we were just using it for timecards, paystubs, etc. Ever since we started using square schedules as well, there have been so many issues accessing the schedule pages. It’s been almost a year that we’ve been using square schedules and it has consistently either not loaded the schedule screen or given the loading wheel. I’ve deleted and redownloaded, made sure I was up to date, and the best solution I’ve found is just to give up and try the next day. Recently I have been trying to access the “time off” feature and am unable. It’s very stressful not to have access to your schedule or to your time off requests/availability. This has been a consistent issue I hope gets addressed soon.

Just installed, already noticed 3 issues.. Started to make the switch from the Homebase app to this one for my employees, however, starting to doubt that we’ll be able to use this with all the bugs. Firstly, across the top, there’s a red bar multiple time during use of the app saying “connection, lost, retry in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 seconds” then “connecting to square”. Secondly, when switching from one feature to another, the screen is white for several seconds before loading. (Despite being on Wi-Fi, and every other app working perfectly fine.) Lastly, despite the App Store description saying that there is a chat feature and the updates saying improvements have been made on this feature, we are unable to even find it anywhere on the app. The communication/chat feature is an absolute necessity. Most of us do not wish to share our personal cell phone numbers with our coworkers. Also it makes trading shifts would be extremely difficult because under normal circumstances, you would have a conversation with a coworker before requesting to trade shifts with them.

Gets better all the time!. I have been using Square for over a decade and this App has been a welcome addition to the services they offer to help run your business. I will give it 5 Stars when they can incorporate a library to house training materials (manuals and videos). It would be super helpful to also track which employees have watched training videos and when they have read documents. Keep up the progress!

Not a useful tool. We had to switch from Crew (which also had issues, but at least it was usable for what we needed). The other day someone called in, and we needed to get someone to cover. I posted the shift 3 times and it disappeared every time I hit “post,” and finally showed up on the 4th attempt. Even then, it doesn’t give anyone any notification that we need help; the only way they would notice is if they just happen to be looking at the available shifts, but shockingly, none of our employees just sit around on their days off and watch the app in case we need help. I made an announcement as a work around, since it was the only way to actually reach anyone, and we were desperately busy and short handed. Once we got the shift covered, I tried to edit or delete the announcement, but I could do neither. Apparently they’re just there forever, which really clogs up the announcements and potentially buries important info. The inability to communicate effectively with our employees has us searching for a different app after only a few days of using it.

Works but doesn’t at the same time. This app works in the way that when it loads, it displays what it needs to. There are a few bugs and issues I’d like to point out. 1. The schedule doesn’t load if you’ve had the app open in the background. You have to close it completely and reopen to actually load the schedule. Sometimes it doesn’t even load then. You then have to keep refreshing the page or close the app again to get it to load. 2. The schedule doesn’t load automatically with “all team members” even if I had selected it previously. I would like it to display everyone’s schedule if I set the filter to do so. 3. The clock in and clock out function occasionally bugs and doesn’t allow me to clock in or out but doesn’t tell me. This causes me to have to go in and edit time cards accordingly because I was definitely not at work for 24 hours straight. 4. The time off function sometimes bugs out and it’ll change the specific times I set to “all day”. Again making me have to go back and change something. What I like about the app though is it’s very user friendly when it works. The UI is simple and easy to navigate. If these problems get fixed, I can see it being much better.

Terrible for viewing schedule. This is supposed to be a scheduling app…. And yet they made an update that makes it impossible for a team member to view their own schedule? The only way to view the schedule is to view the one with the entire staff which can be overwhelming. We are suddenly having issues with staff not showing up because they didn’t realize they were scheduled because it is not clear on the app. They made an update that added back the option to view your own schedule normally, then a day later it was gone again. My entire staff is complaining. Fix this immediately please. This shouldn’t have happened.

Glitchy. This app could be so much more. We use the pos square and are very happy with it and it’s a shame the teams app and rostering falls to the bottom of the list for rostering apps. Log in is super glitchy, staff always seem to have issues logging in. Sometimes even having to delete and reinstall app! The app should force clock offs when shifts are finished because staff often forget. Log ins could be set so can only log in within 100metres of workplace. Messaging direct to staff and group messages. Setting availability is convoluted and could be made so much more simple.

worst app ever. So disappointing especially as an app many people RELY on to work i have been trying for 3 hours to usuccessfully access my roster this morning and have stil ben unable to get anything but a white blank page or loading screen. has been a terrible app from the start but now completely unusable. yes my app is fully updated and i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling .

Poor execution. Idk what it is with this app, but there’s not a week that goes by that it does everything it’s supposed to do. Some days I just can’t access my schedule, or my availability. Some weeks I don’t get notifications that my new roster has been posted. Some weeks it tells me my account has been deactivated. Just needs to work like it’s supposed to.

Absolutely Crappy App. We were forced to migrate across to Team Square from the Crew App and we’ve been nothing but disappointed. The app is currently only displaying “Something is wrong” and the Square support is awful. Use ANY other app or go back to handwritten rosters as this app is a complete FAIL.

Quite unreliable and slow. Often doesn't respond and if it does, can take minutes to load. Good concept for an app which in theory should be useful, but ultimately is too stunted.

Beyond disappointed. I am so disappointed at the fact that this app is so outdated, useless and simply without purpose. The app is missing so much features, additionally it is slow and feels like it was not developed as an app but more like mirroring a website and its not doing a good job. Disappointing like everything else.. The marketing department at square are the only people doing their job. Shame they’re. Selling a mediocre product. “Sorry something went wrong” is mostly what I see trying to use this app. I couldnt even sign in successfully for about a year, then suddenly it connects and proves about as useful as everything else they sell.

Very slow and takes patience to use. As the title says, you repeatedly have to refresh the app in order to get the roster up and even then it’s a 50/50 chance of it actually working. Every update the app with reset your preferences and options so you have to get used to redoing all your settings.

Not good enough. Multiple glitches, staff can sometimes clock into locations they are not even rostered on. Sometimes it says is unavailable for me and to talk to my employer. Staff don’t trust it to work and because of that it makes everything harder.

Good, but not entirely the most useful app. This app needs a chat function. We need a separate app to communicate with the staff. We have an app called Crew that works like messenger that allows us to communicate with staff and they can communicate with each other. It allows them to separate work and personal life. The team app needs this. Crew and Square have a terrible API integration, but this could be solved by Square just adding these features. Crew also has rostering, time off requests and the whole lot. Square, please take a look at Crew. I would happily pay $10 a month extra to have this feature added to the Team app. It would also be VERY handy for staff to be able to request PART of a day off. Sometimes they have an appointment and can only work half a day, but must put in a request for a entire day off. Currently the only way to do this would be to put in an availability change, then change it back after the appointment. Mildly useful app, my staff only use 1 function really, time off requests.

Can’t notify staff of open shifts. Staff can’t see appointment bookings via shift app.. Expensive for less features

Can’t do roster via the app. It would be most helpful to be able to set or edit scheduled shifts via the app. There is no other way that editing shifts but to use a desktop. Even the mobile browser on the phone doesn’t have the shifts menu

Buggy. This app would be great if it didn’t have to reload every time I open it, most times it starts to reload but stops, then I have to close and restart the app. Then half the time it logs me out.. I want to be able to quickly check the roster, but usually it takes a while to actually get to it due to these issues

No option to update availability weekly basis. Due to study and other commitments my availability changes every week, this app does not allow to update availability for more than one week ..

Never seems to work. The app has been slow and unreliable for weeks. Now none of my staff can access it or get rosters. It just doesn’t work.

Not currently working. Since the end of June to the start of July 2024. This application has been broken. When I select the application it immediately closes again. I have tried resetting my device. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app. And have been refreshing for updates regularly checking for an update that may fix the problem. But so far while there has been 4 updates of so in the past week. It still fails to work. This means I’m unable to clock in and out for work. (Luckily my manager has been forgiving about the issue since it’s out of my control) I hope to update this review soon saying these problems are fixed, but until then I don’t have anything positive to say of this app.

Logging in. How do I fix the ‘account inactive’ problem because I know I’ve been using it every day for the past 3 weeks?

Amazing. Always impressed when I can use something straight out of the box. Very simple and intuitive interface. Staff love the simplicity and it has created more free time so I can focus on the business growth. Highly recommended.

Please fix the problem. It’s keep logging out every single time when I use the notification link, not directly use the app. Also the app is too slow it takes 10 seconds to open!!!!!

Very poor quality. When the app works, it’s fine. Not a ground breaking app by any means but it achieves the tasks you need it for. When it doesn’t work (80% of the time) it’s more useless than staring at a wall. Sometimes I have to wait north of 10 minutes just to check my roster. I have to screenshot my roster and check through my camera roll, because this app seems to struggle to process and simple command. I would call this app inconsistent, because it consistently doesn’t work. Please discourage any boss from using square teams as it will be a giant headache for employers and employees until you finally move to something else.

Had to re-enter my password 1000x, changed my password then deleted the app because it’s was so slow and wouldn’t load re-downloaded the app because I need it for work, re-entered my password and it asked me to change my password AGAIN! now I still can’t access my schedule ? Photo Sending Needs Improvement. Photos in the Square Team app don’t send if you leave the chat, so important messages get lost. Uploading photos is slow, which makes it hard to use in a busy workplace.

Slow and unreliable. Fix your app before adding more features; slow load times (If it even decides to load), random disconnections and logouts, and it’s a luck of a draw if you can even login most of the times.

Individual tip tracking. My employer pools tips…I never know if getting fair share. Employees never know how much truly coming in. The raw amount should be shown in the employee’s daily /shift report. In my jurisdiction this practice may actually be illegal. Has your company researched whether you may be supporting an illegal practice?

Very Disappointed - Beware. After the “Crew” app was bought/switched to square we were hopeful the multiple teams that utilize it would be satisfied. However, the functionality while similar is definitely less and the warning to any teams considering g using it is the customer service. We are completely down for a second time and they are absolutely 0 help. We will switch to a different platform. It is clear that square does it care about the communication app and their customer service reps show it with their complete disregard for timelines of help or general care at all. Do not trust this app for your company communication as they will let you down.

Mediocre. Our team switched to this from the 7shifts version which was better IMO. Square doesn’t save the filters so you have to reset every time (to see all the staff on shift for example vs just your shift). It also doesn’t allow you to post your shift for grabs and only lets you trade with someone scheduled. No way to give away shifts or pass to someone not on the current schedule. Also don’t love the interface. Feels pretty rudimentary tbh.

Terrible Update. Most recent update makes it incredibly hard to see my own schedule when looking at which days I work. Needs to change back to how it was previously.

Barely Works. While I adore the square app and even the website services they offer, the square teams app just barely works most of the time. I’m lucky if I can actually view my schedule at any given moment, let alone request shift swaps with co-workers or request days off. The group messaging service has also seemed to bug more in the last few weeks, and isn’t loading the most recent messages. It’s giving a log of all the older ones for some odd reason. I get error messages constantly when trying to access most features, usually telling me I’m not with my company any longer, or the app just saying it can’t load. Only thing it’s consistently good for at this point is punching in and out. I don’t understand why it’s not smoother running overall, just disappointed.

I feel bad that my manager pays for this. App won’t even open. That’s the bare requirement I’d think.

Always crashes. This app is amazing when it works! Every few weeks I can’t use it for a week or so, it just gives me an error message saying that something went wrong on their end. Super convenient!

Glitches. Too many glitches that vary from time to time. For example when you save preferences in the app it wont stay set currently. There were several times where I had to re-download the app so that it would let me log in. Even if I have my user name and password save to log me in automatically I have to finagle with the password. I also keep getting a message on repeat pop up every time I log in, there should be the ability to select don’t show message again.

Doesn’t sync with calendar. Good, simple to use app. I wish it would sync with Apple calendar easily!

Terrible Customer Service. We had been using crew for a few years before it was purchased by Square Team. Crew was great and we never had a single issue with it. Once Square Team took over the functionality started going downhill very quickly. Yesterday, every single one of our team members was deleted from the group. I spent an hour on the phone with customer service going around in circles and getting zero help. We will be terminating the use of this app and I do not recommend anybody else use it. It’s barely functional when it works and when there is a problem, there will be zero help available to you.

Never Loads. Would be nice if I could actually see my schedule and timecards instead of a white screen. Had this problem forever and it’s never fixed.

So many glitches. Horrible app. I used to believe in what square did but now they ship junk We’re on the west coast but all our time is read as east coast. Tells me at 7am I need to be at my shift which is 10pm pacific. You pay per employee who uses it and half my restaurant teams wants to be on slack. You know why? Cause it works. Square doesn’t. They got lazy and stopped shipping good products

Great if it works. I had to redownload the app and now it barely functions, no clock in/out, can’t see my shifts. None of the features I need work anymore. I don’t even have the option to report a bug. Update, the issue only lasted about a week. I was maybe a bit frustrated when I initially wrote this review. 😅

Normally good. Great app, work uses square for clocking in and for a long time no problem. The most recent update is pretty bad though. Now employees need to click like 7 buttons just to clock in. It used to only be two button pushes. Make your customers do less work square, not more. UPDATE: button pushing reduced. 5 stars.

Terrible loading issues. I rely on this app to be able to see my schedule, but half the time I can’t even get it to load. This app is glitchy and frustrating; refreshing at this point still doesn’t even help anything display on several of my pages, but most importantly my schedule. I don’t understand how Square can operate an app that millions of people are relying on for work with such inconsistency. There should never be issues loading the schedule, but it’s rare for it to not be a problem.

Need smoothness. Your latest versions of your time clock app have improved considerably since I started using it last year for my employer. But your app still takes too long to move/shift from function to function. When you go from punch-out to looking at your time card, for example, it doesn’t like to load the time card record. I have to close the app and reopen it.

Zzzzz. New update is horrible. Cannot login. Continues to say “account inactive” despite my employer seeing me as active and having to MANUALLY log me in. This happens all the time…with just about every update. This impacts both myself and my employer. What’s the use of having an app to make things easier and convenient when it doesn’t do that? I would have to ent 1 star, but when it works it has solid info I like to see. That is, when I can log in.

PLEASE HELP. App was working perfectly fine before update. After updating automatically this morning though the Square app is completely inaccessible. Every time I attempt to open it the app immediately crashes. This is bad for me as I rely on this app to clock in and access tax forms for my job. Please fix this as soon as humanly possible as my personal livelihood is dependent on this app being able to function. Extremely limited features for the cost. This app is not very useful as a stand alone app. MS teams or Slack is much better; however, it integrates with other features of Square that are useful, like importing hours worked into payroll. So it’s kind of like you are forced to pay for a mediocre extension just to get the integration features that streamline the base application and square payroll. I think the company could do a much better job and in general I’m disappointed with Square Team. Two thumbs down.

Support is only for the employers. As an employee who uses the app everyday to clock in and out, etc. you would think we would have some customer support or even topics online to answer any questions we had. But no, it’s only for employers so any additional questions or errors, I had can’t be answered. Especially when the mistake is on Square’s side and I can’t get it fixed. I spent 20 mins looking for at least some type of customer service and you can barely get that. Lots of bugs, and things messing up on the app all the time.

Bad software. This app is borderline unusable. If the function you want to access works, which is rare, it takes a million years to load. The clock in/clock out feature is unreliable at best and my team and I usually just resort to tracking our punches the old fashioned way. We used to use Homebase which had its issues but at least the Homebase app let me see my schedule when I wanted to! Fr can’t recommend lol I wish we’d switch back

Recent change to scheduler is unwelcome. The recent update to the Square scheduling system is 2-steps backward. It makes scheduling for overnight crews difficult as it splits the shift across days now. It now takes extra time to review and build schedules. For overnight staff who view a physical copy of the schedule, it is confusing. I recommend using a different scheduling app until they correct. As FYI - We’ve been using the app for almost 3 years now and it’s been great until now.

Consistently Frustrating. This app has been beyond buggy since I installed it. It seems fine for a a few days before it would make me sign in every time I accessed the app. Making clocking in and out a massive pain The most recent changes, August 2023(ish) have removed the easy to clock in (when it woks) feature. And now I have to select my job and location every-time before I clock in. For our business, there is zero need for this. I understand things need to be updated and fixed when wrong or to improve things, but this change has not helped anyone here. And I’m sure I’ll get a “The team is aware…” reply that doesn’t actually mean anything. Please revert the clock in options. Or make th new version an selective option for businesses that need those features.

Glitchy. Trouble editing. When editing hours (usually because I forgot to log out or had a poor connection), it gives me an error “logout must be before login time”. It is before the login, but the error persists. I subscribe to square shifts mainly so my staff has the option of editing. It’s very important they can do this. This glitch is causing me a lot more administrative tedium. I installed the newest update hoping the problem would resolve. So far it is still a problem.

Constantly changing, never consistent.. edit 11/2: Developer, I have emailed your support about 3 weeks ago, and have not received a response. This app is garbage. Every month or so it goes through a complete overhaul, moving things around, taking out things. Since it’s last update, I can no longer instant transfer some earnings to my bank and I still can’t see my coworkers schedule without having to select it. It crashes constantly and it doesn’t always connect to the servers. It’s a constant battle.

New update is horrible!. Please please change it back or let me know how to remove this new update. I’ve been using the square team app for more than a year and it was good. I was able to understand how many hrs I had plus my tips and what my pay was for that pay period. Now its just cut off in days that make no sense and nothing is added up. It’s really frustrating!

Bring back the filter for range of dates. The new update only allows you to look at full week views, not per pay period. The easiest way I could verify my hours before payroll, estimate my paycheck, and make sure my hours were correct were to use the calendar to select a range of dates. Now it only looks at the full week Sunday-Saturday. Super inconvenient especially considering there is no online browser access for employees using teams lol. We’re at the mercy of the app and our bosses to make sure our hours are correct which have both been pretty unreliable in my experience this last year.

Always improving, still room to grow. The nice thing about this app is that they do make improvements often. My current gripe: if I as an employee only have one “job” and one “location”, why do I have to go through the arduous process of selecting them every time I clock in? If there’s only one option it should be auto selected. Clocking in used to be simple but now it takes too many steps in the latest update.

No Payroll features. There are no payroll features in the app??? The payroll app is gone and there is NO replacement!!! Update: They finally migrated the functions they did away with when they obsoleted the Payroll app. Overall, the transition sucked - ending one app a month before migrating its features to a new one. It would be helpful if the app remembered your setting instead of having to change them every time you open the app.

Honest Review. This app is okay. There are times where it glitches and I can not sign in or out. I will push the clock out button and it will say that I was clocked out and the next day it will say I was automatically logged out after 24 hours which is weird. But other than the few glitches this app is good to have to keep up with your scheduling, time cards and tax forms.

Works fine most of the time.. App works great most of the time (as an employee) - schedule layout is good enough, payroll is easy to understand and acess. The problem is that sometimes it takes a decently long to load especially when you're trying to change/schedule multiple shifts at a time.

New App/New Bugs. The app still needs a way to save login info and/ or incorporate TouchID. Also, the time-totals only show the first shift worked that pay-period. It’s a new app with new bugs, but I’m excited to see it develop! It’s super useful to have something apart from the web-based platform for checking timecards and seeing how much has been earned so far during the pay-period.

New updated version is horrible. Dislike the new update. There is a lot of unnecessary steps to clock in now. It is set up in a way that makes it harder to glance at your hours for the full 2 weeks. My crew has been complaining about how it goes back and forth from the old setup to the new. We are having to sign out and back in every few days to get the app to work for clocking in/out. It crashes constantly.

Time zone issues. The new updates done to the square team app have made things more difficult. When my employees look at their schedule it shows the correct times but when they are in the clock in screen it shows their scheduled time an hour later than their actual schedule.

Daily tips gone and just gets worse. It’s really disappointing that the function to see your tips accrue for individual shifts has been removed, this was useful for me and my team to know how we are doing on a given day. Of all the things to fix or remove it could’ve been the long loading times, the constant need to hard-reset the app to get the schedule to show or any other page for that matter; but the update chose to remove tips per shift? Disappointing

Forced to switch to this from Crew app. If you’re going to replace the Crew App, do better. There are barely any permission controls, or any controls period, compared to Crew. There’s no calendar, which was ideal for uploading schedule photos, and seeing those photos, plus everyone’s times off, per day. That’s how a schedule should work. And, we don’t even need to see hours worked, because that’s what our in-house payroll system is for?

Frustrated Business Owner. I had the Square Payroll for my business and about a month ago when I logged into that app I receive this message “ The Square Payroll app is no longer be supported. Download the Square Team app to continue managing your team and running payroll on the go.” I followed ALL instructions downloaded the Square Team app but I have yet to be able to run payroll or manage my team from this APP! Just annoying , especially since I’ve been so use to using Square Payroll App with NO issues for over 2 years..

Very Basic. The app is very basic at the moment and seems to be missing a lot of features. One basic one is the ability to sync shifts to your calendar. The pages oftentimes does not load forcing a force quit often. Also, there is no functionality for admins such as: Approving or rejecting time off requests or availability changes, making schedule changes or fixing anyone’s time cards, and cannot enter time off requests for team.

Set up went fine; then employer disappeared. Brand new to this app from Square. Used it the first day with no issue, set everything up and ready to rock. I could not use the navigation bar, but whatever, I could clock in and out. Day two, opened app to find I am logged out, logged in and employer is gone. Uninstalled, reinstalled, no change. No idea why employer information was dumped. Have not been able to trouble shoot it. Update: The entire navigation bar does not respond at all on my device. 100% unresponsive. It makes using the app very difficult and frustrating.

Annoying bugs. Sometimes the app needs to be closed and reopened in order for your schedule to load. If you wish to see your coworkers schedules you must toggle that setting every time you close the app because it does not save your preferences. It’s annoying enough that I try to log on the app only once a week so I can write my schedule down instead of wait an ungodly amount of time for it to load.

Can’t log in if you’re a minor. So the app is great and seems to work pretty well other than the fact you have to be 18, being 16 and having a job where this is used is hard to get logged in and get your paycheck. To get logged in being a minor I had to have my employer enter all my banking information and basically create a whole new account it’s frustrating that I can’t create it myself and had to give someone else my bank account info. I would love the app if that changed bc so much if part time workers are 16-17 years old and having to go to your employer to get it set up is a pain.

Down again.. This app has to be one of the worst I’ve come across. Need to clock in and out on any given day? Too bad, it’s going to be down for an entire day… maybe more. Don’t like to bother your boss with dumb things like fixing time cards? Too bad. The Square app believes in almost no functionality and takes it to the next level every couple weeks by refusing to work at all… for the whole day. You’d figure with the amount of money they’re stripping from small business owners, they could make a functional app.

Migrated from crew and this is a nightmare. Not happy that my team was forced to use this app that was obviously not ready for crew users to migrate because it’s still missing the basic features crew app offered although they keep saying they will be available “soon.” It is not as user friendly as crew—i still don’t know how to tell my team to use it for finding coverage for their shifts. Customer service/help just keeps sending me links from a bot. Very disappointing and i will miss the ease of crew app. Rip

Doesn’t work like it used to. This app used to run pretty smoothly, but these new updates have caused more issues and problems. It never saves your work location when you try to change it from one side to another site. It gives you the option to save, but it never saves it for the next time you go into the app. it also does not save when you try to look at all team members on the schedule. It never loads half the time I have to always exit the app and re-loaded. Hoping that it’ll work.

Selectively functional. It is so frustrating that this app and square in general has been EXCEPTIONALLY glitchy and slow. Whether it is updating inventory, creating new items, scheduling, or working on other parts of the app; it will crash or just not be available for periods at a time. This has made an impact on my businesses efficiency when we need to get things done. It’s not only happening to us, but I’ve also experienced it as a customer when I’ve gone into places that use square hardware for check out.

Constant Updates. It seems like Square has a need to incessantly release unnecessary updates and UI changes that worsen the experience of the app. As of the recent update, you can’t even see how much you made in tips individually per day. Why not fix the fact that the app fails to load half the time instead of disrupting the users quality of life while using the app.

So many flaws. This apps is great when it works and user friendly but there are so many flaws and it crashes all the time. I haven’t been able to access time off requests for days now and when I try to force close the app, it makes me confirm I’m not a robot like 6x. You can add banking info but you can’t change the account you want to use. There is also no way to get into contact with support team members which is very frustrating. Do better 👎🏻

Update. The update kinda ruined it, the new layout is very weird and I can’t see how much my whole check would be with hourly and tips anymore and I don’t like that, the last version before this one was so much better and each time you open the app it looks new, it’s just weird, and I really liked being able to see how much my tips and hourly was together so I know how mush my check would be please bring that version back

Second try at posting a review. My first review submitted last week was never posted, so I'm trying again. Square Team worked on my iPhone 8 Plus for three weeks and then, after an app update last week, stopped working all together. Over half an hour on hold with an obviously bored rep, and the only answer they could give me was that my phone is no longer supported. Really? Even though the app is advertised as running on iOS 16 and later, and my phone uses 16? It sounds like Square have taken what used to be an app people liked and completely tanked it. What a shame.

I get more frustrated every time I use this app. I use this app for my job and it is so terrible! Every update is worse- I miss being able to see my estimated pay for a two week period! The cash tips (that are taxed!) are not visible anymore for some reason, which is very frustrating because our team relies heavily on those for our income! It also never loads the first time I open the app and says there is a connection problem even with great wifi! Come on square! I would like to see some helpful updates!!

Needs many features to compete with others. For the most part it works okay for the employees. As a manager the app doesn’t show me who is clocked in or allow me to edit time cards. That’s info I need daily and I have to login to the web site to get it. You can’t request off, only availability. We have to use a spreadsheet...in 2021. Time tracking in general needs work. I can’t reorder list of workers to make visualizing the schedule easier. Homebase is pretty much the same cost with more features and I regret switching. I really hope Square is pouring resources into making this better.

The update to format is a nightmare.. I work at a unique place that doesn't use scheduling(I work the same schedule every week.) It is unfortunate that the hours and time worked has got so confusing, inaccurate, and convoluted. On top of that tips are not included in estimated pay and are seemingly inaccurate at best. Additionally the hours worked don't load half the time. I am so disappointed that something that was usable is now a nightmare.

Bring back the Touch ID Sign In!!!. Great app helps me clock in and out no problems. My only complaint is that I no longer get the option to use the Touch ID to sign in and I have to manually type my info every single time. It’s becoming rather frustrating! I’m keeping the 5 star review to be nice but another week of typing that info in 4 times a day and I’m going to delete the app

Can’t save log in info???. It seems pretty simple to make an app that doesn’t log you out every time you use it I don’t want to have to login to the app every single time I exit out of it that is literally ridiculous it is 2022 I don’t care if it seems like a small thing there is no option to save the login info so you have to manually type it out every single time and I don’t think there’s a single other app that I use on a daily basis or even at all that does this….

Needs improvement. There’s a few things with this ap I think could be developed more. I wish you could import the work schedule to your apple or google calendar. Everytime I open up the ap lately, some of the changes I’ve made (like being able to see all team members shifts on the schedule) are reset so I have to go in and make changes every time. And sometimes it logs me out, and I have to re-sign in every time - which is very annoying when you’re using the ap daily.

Very Annoyed. I’ve been using this app for 2+ years as an employee. I’ve learned to ignore the services they try to sell you on the homepage ie health insurance and get paid early. Well they took it to the next level with the last update! Now I get an annoying pop up “Clock out get paid” , a service they charge you for, every time I clock in or out. There are no settings to stop this. I’ve called customer service, and I will say they where slightly better than this terrible app!

Meh - and why can’t I send my money anymore????. Loading times between screens is really long and sometimes doesn’t work at all so restarting the app is a frequent task just to clock in. There used to be an option to “cash advance” myself. It’s gone with no warning. It claims you can easily edit the team in the app but you can’t. It takes you to a web browser opened in the app and asks for another sign in to access. Then it’s not even optimized for mobile so it mostly useless. Changing or adding a direct deposit account is a complete headache in the app or on the website. Lots of glitches and errors before finding success. It took me a 2 days to get it to add a second account and split my deposit.

It needs schedule improvements. It’s an issue this app doesn’t offer to add your schedule to ICalendar or Microsoft Calendar. It’s inconvenient to have to create shift by shift specially nowadays that every platform and other point of sales offer this options except Square. I work in 3 different locations with square and it’s a pain to have to create shift by shift in my personal calendar to not get confused or miss work. Just for this reason giving 2 stars.

Constant Glitches. It seems like this app can only do a single task at a time. I can look at my time card, but if I want the schedule to load or to update availability I have to close and re-start the app so it doesn’t get stuck on the loading page. Without fail it can only complete one task before the “Something went wrong” prompt shows up again. If you’re looking to get this for your employees I would suggest you reconsider until they are able to create an app that can handle this level of interaction.

Unfortunate User of Square Products. Every square product, software, and/ or interface I’ve had the displeasure of using has been a maddening disappointment. Having to use this app to clock in is about as frustrating as it gets if you don’t have a strong internet connection. I truly could not implore people to look for square alternatives any more. I despise the square card terminals I use as if they were people who wronged me. But if you want to fight with an app and scream at little card terminals, Square is the company for you!

Works Ok. An option to clock in and out without the need for cell reception would be awesome. We use it for housekeeping and not everyone lives within good cell range (some don’t even have wifi) . I don’t like how it won’t display the current pay period anymore it just goes by week. Maybe there is a way to change it but I haven’t had time to fiddle with it.

Recent update is awful.. The update from a week ago that changed the timecard tab to “my hours” is so much worse. Why in the world would anyone think it’s better? I cannot see all my hours together for the pay period, along with my tips. It’s separated and not user friendly. Every time they update with a new change to the interface, I’m afraid to look. Multiple times now they’ve changed it for the worse.
