Lovely, with a bit of criticism. This is one of the very nicest looking podcast apps on iPhone that I think exists. Elegant, and simple I really like the way it looks. It even imports my podcasts from a ompl file. Yours be amazed how many podcast app creators seem to think you should just import all your dozens of podcasts one by one, UGH. The only real problem I’ve seen is on my iPhone SE very often when I try to scroll through my podcasts, the app crashes. And then has to be restarted again. Also it needs to have new episode notifications too. It needs the name of the podcast shown alongside the podcast art, otherwise you don’t know what it is until you click on it. It needs to handle multiple downloads better. Otherwise, a great start!

Gorgeous design however...... I really love the design of this app, especially the option to have it in dark mode. However, there has been a couple of issues that prevented me from keeping it. When I close the app, it doesn’t allowed me the offer to returned to my podcast at its rightful place. Rather, I have to search for the podcast again and click that episode again.

Car Play Crashing. Car play crashes as soon as something is selected. The UI is visually appealing, but it seems like form over function. The app only allows half of your screen space for new episodes, playlists and subscriptions. The player page is nice, but it’s frustrating to actually use.

Not ready for prime time. Lacking episode sorting and art. Super pretty.

Recommend This. This is the best podcast app I ever used, solved at least two problems Easy to discover, and fast update. Unlike the Apple podcast app, Without know, the NAME of channel still can look up from category. The apple now keynotes on 2019, I can't find on apple podcast app yet, but already can download from this app!!! You deserve a five star rate!

Does not work properly with CarPlay. I primarily listen to podcasts in my car and the main reason I bought this app was CarPlay. The CarPlay functionality does not work correctly at all. You basically have to open the app on your phone and keep it open for the app to work in CarPlay. Nothing will work without first opening the app on the phone. Very disappointing.

Is this a joke?. This app is literally riddled with bugs. There are double streams playing at the same time, all subscriptions are gone from library when I quit the app, the user interface becomes unresponsive, it does not resume when you pause, but starts from the beginning, etc... This is not even alpha quality... shame, hopefully Apple returns my money!

Very disappointed!!!. I don’t normally pay for apps but since I like podcasts a lot I thought I’d give it a try. And boy what a disappointment it doesn’t play most of the time. Why would you guys sell such headaches as this. Please you can do all of us better than this.

Beautiful app, abandoned by developer.. Do not buy anything by this developer or his other alias Shihab. While all of his apps look great, all of them are abandoned, sold (to another company) or otherwise broken.

I WANT to use this player, please debug it. Step 1: import OPML (from PodCruncher, an ugly, but highly reliable app) Step 2: scroll down Crashes every time. I discovered a duplicate in the backup, so I removed it, but still crashes. I know devs don’t want bug reports in these reviews, but what am I to do? I can’t use the app without manually adding every one of dozens I’m subscribed to. Sorry.

This app has potential. The UI looks great and I enjoy dark mode feature but it was lacking basic features when it came to downloading episodes. I would love to see more flexibility when creating playlists. I was having issues with playback on a downloaded episode. The app looks nice but it needs more powerful features, I hope see see improvements in the future.

Beautiful. Another home run by an amazing developer, the beautiful skeuomorphic design is something I’d love to see used in more apps.

Not Orig Developer, Website Goes to Install Malware or Something. I know that the original developer of this app is great, I have some other apps built by him, but whoever is operating as PoeticBytes has a non-functional website. I mean that in the sense that clicking on the link to PoeticBytes' website opened a URL that redirected me a few times and landed on some spyware/malware type of site that was trying to install a browser extension, or so it claimed. I obviously didn't go through with that and closed the browser window, etc, but just a heads up for anyone else trying to contact PoeticBytes. Or anyone remotely interested in finding out who PoeticBytes is.

Interface is good. Thought I found the podcast app of my dream. Then I played once episode then realized it Doesn’t have any indicators that tells you when you’ve already listen to a show. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Awesome design, needs improvements. I saw this on ProductHunt and immediately became in awe with the clean design. It needs further improvements, but great start. Descriptions for episodes need to be broken down appropriately as Apple’s podcast app rather than one chunk of text. Volume booster sounds funky on my airpods, there needs to be a proper settings page...there is no way to choose what shows to automatically download episodes from, size limit per show, etc.

Library doesn’t work for me. Multiple times I’ve subscribed to podcasts and see them in my library, until I close the app, then they’re gone when I launch it again. If it’s something I’m doing wrong I’ll adjust my rating.

Help!. How can I see my subscribed channels?!

Still Not Fixed. In my original review, I had a problem with double streams of the same podcast playing at the same time (every time) from the very first time I opened the app. The developer responded saying that it will be fixed in the next update (v2.2.5) Well, I updated and the double stream continues from the very first podcast after updating. I gave it a shot but, time to move on.

Form over function, for now.. A beautiful, clean and original design. However, the layout is broken on most iPad multitasking views and a lot of critical features are missing, like show-notes and chapters. This app is not ready for a 10€ pricing, at this price I expect significant improvements soon.

Potential to be the best.. UPDATE: +1 star. Developer implemented all feedback within a week. Near perfect Podcast app now. The developer has already committed to CarPlay support, some minor tweaks to the UI and this app would be perfect. I would love to see a way to make the Library tab default over the Popular tab. The subscribe button should be more prominent, and it would be awesome to be able to get a podcast playing with one or two less clicks.

A lot of work needed. The interface is it’s very visually appealing But the app lack a lot of functionality for instance if you delete the app and reinstall it you don’t have the option To restore your subscriptions Plus a lot of functionalities that other podcast players have The option to turn on or off trim silence skip forward or volume boost and this app has no indication that it has them plus the only setting you have is change the theme so you developers need to rethink the way this app functions until then I’ll try it but now it’s useless the only thing that I can say about it is that the interface is great but it needs alot of work 😊

Love it, but bugs. Love the UI of this podcast player, super simple and elegant. But I mainly listen to podcasts on a plane in airplane mode or on the train with spotty service for hours at a time. I used to be a heavy streamer but not with podcasts. So when I go to download episodes, the app crashes often, and there is no download progress bar or circle next to the episode, so I don’t know if it’s downloading or not. More often than not, the download action just adds the episode to the playlist but doesn’t actually download it.

Simply beautiful. If you’re a frequent podcast listener, you otter it to yourself to give this a try - beautiful, simple to navigate, and a joy to use. Considering that it’s a universal app, with support on iPhone, iPad, Mac and even Apple TV, this is a steal!

Almost perfect. There are a few bugs, such as freezing the the graphics of the wheel altering. Podcasts, even in progress, will reset if I change to a different podcast. Also, the ability to save specific podcasts would be nice.

Innovative Design. This is a great app! I love the design elements and how flexible/customizable it is! The library view is a bit simplistic and hard to navigate, but as this is so new, and the developer is so active, I suspect that it will improve quickly! All in all, this makes listening to podcasts super fun and the record player imagery brings up a delightful sense of nostalgia!

Forgetful. Nice interface but it has a major flaw. If you pause a podcast and then come back a day later to continue listening, it can’t remember where you left off or even what you were listening to. You have to start over and search to find your place. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for this app. Here’s another thing, when I create a list of podcasts I want to listen to, then leave the app, and then come back to the app, it has forgotten everything I did in creating the list. This app is dumber than a box of rocks.

not usable in Iran!. this app is very beautiful, but it’s not usable in Iran! the only way we can use it is to connect through VPN. but apple’s podcast app works fine!

Not saving my place in podcasts. Every time I open up a podcast I was listening to it starts over from the very beginning and does not seem to be saved in my place. Is there something I need to do to make this happen? I like the look of the app. Very slick.

New UI. Thanks for the new interface. Variable speed sounds terrible compared to other podcast apps.

Could be THE BEST with bug fixes. I think this app has the best podcast playing interface. The minimalist interface takes some getting used to, but I like that it’s not in my face like other apps. There is just about every cool feature in this app: skip silence, change icon and color scheme, and sharing audio clips. Unfortunately, there are many bugs that cause the app to stop and/or crash. I’ve had the app crash when I’ve tried to share an audio clip from an episode; the Topics tab show no results for various topics, like medicine, for which I’m sure there are actually plenty of relevant podcasts; there are three different places to unsubscribe from a podcast, and I have to remember the right one that will actually remove it from my library—after I restart the app. Also, I wish the library was laid out like some sort of LP collection, and the Mac turntable UI is glitchy-ugly. Fixes for these issues would have me rushing back to Cosmicast on all my devices.

Looks good, but major functionality issues. Doesn’t work

Looks fantastic but unusable. App crashes way to often when scrolling thru my subscribed podcast. Seems to be missing auto downloading and queuing.

No reason to spend $$ on this. I tried this app hoping for an improvement to Apple's podcast client. This app is not an improvment. The cute spinning record is no substitute for an otherwise bad UI where podcast discovery is awkward at best, with the search list going away after selecting a new podcast. If you'd like to try more than one podcast you have to re-search. This was a killer for me as podcasts are so prevelant that new podcast discovery is a must-do-well in any client.

Removed. Quits playing repeatedly.

First Thoughts. I’ve been through almost all of the podcast apps over the years and this one might be the most beautiful yet. It seems like a lot of care went into the look of the design. And if looks were all that mattered, this app would be 5 stars. But apps also need to work flawlessly and this one doesn’t. The search function within the app is super buggy and crashes the app when searching for certain podcasts. I’m giving it two stars for the design and one star for not only having a grid, but having a grid that can be resized(thank you)! A million podcast apps have come and gone on my iPhone because of the lack of grid. I look forward to seeing where this app goes as the bugs get worked out.

So,so podcast player.. OK for audio podcasts but it does not do video podcasts. There are free podcast players that are just as good. Not worth the money.

Instantly became my main podcast app!. It’s everything I need in an app: elegant design, simple to use, reliable, and a communicative developer. Cosmicast is simply beautiful. The developer has been quickly updating it with features we actually care about and was quick to answer when I emailed about a bug I ran into. It was fixed within a day! It feels really nice as a user to know the developer stands by their product and wants to provide a great experience. Give it a try, you will NOT be disappointed.

Pretty good. Really like the layout of it. And for me works pretty good so far. The only thing it’s missing. Or I just can’t find. Is an option for automatic downloads. I prefer to have that option so throughout the day as new ones come out and I’m at home they automatically download to my device so I don’t have to worry about using data. Maybe that can come in a future update but overall a very beautiful app

4/7/20 lost my whole library. with their update today. Switching podcast apps.

Amazing design, but bad functionality. I tried Cosmicast because I heard all about how beautiful the layout was and was not disappointed when I first downloaded. However, after a week of use I had to switch back. The player glitches often, doesn’t load when opening, and pauses/unpauses at random. I hope it gets fixed but right now, it’s a 1/5.

Very clean!. Really clean podcast player. Best animations in any podcast app I’ve used too.

Crashes a Lot. Thank you for fixing the subscription issue, but since that update went through the app is crashing a lot now.

Almost perfect. Love the simplicity and the record interface. Great icons for cortex listeners as well! One thing that I’m missing a lot trying to switch from the default podcast app is the ability to specify how many episodes to download automatically and limit the number of downloaded episodes so a single subscription doesn’t eat up all of the storage. Otherwise a great app all around!

Getting into podcasts, almost perfect. I saw this posted on reddit and loved the aesthetic so I bit the bullet, after all devs gotta support devs! The only thing I wish this had was notifications so I know when a new episode gets posted for a podcast I’m subscribed to. Otherwise absolutely awesome!

Apple Music client. Why haven’t you guys made an Apple Music client?!?! The whole thing with the vinyls would be perfect for Apple Music. Keep the same design just make an Apple Music client. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Simple and gorgeous. Downloading this app and filling it with all my favourite podcasts has been an absolute pleasure. After years of putting up with the ios podcast app I went look around, and have happily landed on this. The ability to control how many columns on the homepage, the full description of every episode, a slide up menu to control whether I want to play now or download for later. So, so much better than the ios app ✨🎉

Love it. Great minimalist design and finding podcasts is super easy. However I would love a gesture to bring up the episode notes, or just make the notes easier to access.

Overated. Spent $1.49 on this so didn’t break the bank...but its areal task getting back to the main menu when you have downloaded a podcast episode. A real shame when techies put this stuff out there with little attention to detail. They expect the consumer to expose the issues before they can be attended to. Kinda careless.

Finally a podcast app that is elegantly simple and aesthetically pleasing. EDIT: Initially I had given this app a pretty low rating because of its bugginess but the update to the app has definitely fixed the issue. The app is now both beautiful to look at and works well as a podcast player. Well, this app is very aesthetically pleasing and it is pretty simple to use; BUT out of all the podcasts I tried to subscribe to using this app only one worked. I mean podcasts play but the app won’t subscribe to them, which means that I have to look up the podcasts I want to listen to every time which defeats the purpose of a podcast player. I really want to like this app, but considering there are free podcast players that works better and looks fine, I really cannot give this app anything above two stars.

Pretty and plays better. Updates have made the UI look better and playback has improved. Only issue is that when the app is closed and not running in the bg and podcasts ive subscribed to are wiped.

Pretty, not intuitive.. First, no landscape mode. I have my iPad in a frame. Very inconvenient to turn sideways. Desperately needs subcategories. Way too many pods in every genre. Not user friendly. Accidentally subscribed to something, took a while to figure out how to unsub. Giving it an OK, but not keeing it.

Beauty skin deep .... Beauty is only skin deep and subjective — silly for developer to focus so much on beauty — but this app isn’t worth paying for. I got mine for free as developers sometimes offer for a few days to get feedback. I gave it only 1 star instead of 2 if it were not for the stock Apple app doing way more, albeit not quite as beautiful. My thoughts ... The built in podcast player is OK and I was hoping this player would be an improvement — but it’s not. No way to sort episodes — a must have if you want to play oldest fist easily if you start a new podcast. No iPad version, really? Having ability to display more than 2 columns of show icons is great if you have iPads. I have a Mini 4 and the giant Pro — fantastic sound quality — and using an iPhone app on an iPad is very restricting. No multi device synchronization — I have to manually subscribe on each device and figure out where I left off. 5x playback speed a waste because it’s borderline audible on slower talkers. 3x and 4x would be better. The 1/2x speed echos and doesn’t have that funny drunk quality 😂 I like the dark theme but you can use smart invert in Apples accessibility features. A triple click and you can enable/disable that feature when desired. That’s all the big things for now because I haven’t used it enough and likely won’t use it to be able to find any real good features that the built in podcast player doesn’t have.

Great Dev response.. Update Apr 24 2019: Great response and attention from Dev, app gets 5 Stars for that for sure, and for constant updates and Dev’s continued work on the app. Also very nice to have full screen landscape video playback ability now. Nice! (Thanks Dev!) Unfortunately, app is still very glitchy. Once go to landscape for video (working fine), when try to return to portrait mode screen is all wonky, kinda half page, with no access to controls and a tiny strip of video etc. Flip back to lanscape and now real wonky there too. (IPad Air 2, iOS 11.4.1) Play button still not working correctly either (and the 2 finger swipe up doesn’t appear to be working in that regard as well on iPad at least). Tried with audio podcast and video cast. Tried few times contact Dev directly thru the app and via appstore but just links to a wonky Twitter page which also isn’t working correctly and locks up with no access. (Hence leave note here for Dev.) Hey, with the Dev’s continued attention I’m sure all of these issues will be addressed over time and app will soon be deserving of a full 5 Star rating. ========== Update April 5 2019: STILL no pause button. Really? Only way to stop episode playback is to quit the app. Gee THAT’S convenient. (Still no landscape video either, just the little midscreen letterbox.) Still a work in progress it would appear. Hey, at least the Dev is still updating the app. :-) Will check back in later. ========= Original Review: On the plus side app plays video podcasts! Great! But no fullscreen video mode. Why not? Usually simple flip to landscape would engage such. Nope. Just tiny letterbox video. (Hey, better than none at all, but come on, the vids there, let it go full screen once engaged.) Very clunky unintuitive interface. (For me at least. Sorry) Frustrating and confusing. No pause button on screen. Huh? Really? (or at least it’s not working. tap onscreen play button presume will pause or stop playback. nope. no way out.) Will adjust this review if figure out what’s going on.

Just an Audio Player - Still does not play video. I only bought this app to play the video portions of podcasts, it doesnt do that. Just audio. No options for video on the 'This Episode' screen as instructed. I have to use Youtube - at least its free there.

Completely rebuilt!. This is an update to a review I wrote about the first version of this app, from late 2018. It seemed like abandonware, but as of a couple weeks ago the dev returned and completely rebuilt the app from the ground up. It now seems far more stable and feature-complete, and a joy to use. Thank you very much @JPEGuin! The old review: This app does not work as well as it looks. That said, it definitely looks very nice. However, it is plagued by bugs and has gone weeks with no word from the developer (see Developer Website, which links to Twitter account). For example, it often loses playing position (or even which episode is being played) if the app is closed. The download queuing doesn't seem to actually do much, because the app says it's "Fetching episode" even if I've told it to download. I really want to use this app, but for now I'm moving back to the stock app. Maybe an update will come and I'll be able to switch back.

Grrrrrrr...... I subscribed to about 100-200 podcasts and lost all of them. When I do a search, the cast comes up then starts freaking out and doesn’t come up. Horrible app!!!
