What is highmark plan app? Highmark Members have access to the parts of their insurance they use most. If you're a Highmark member or a member of one of our affiliates, this app lets you:

- Access your Member ID card
- View your plan information
- View your family member’s plan information
- Pay claims with your spending account
- Get important messages and notifications
- Use your phone’s biometric settings for quick log in

This App is intended for Highmark and its affiliated Blue companies' Blue Shield members in 21 counties in central Pennsylvania and 13 counties in northeastern New York and their Blue Cross Blue Shield members in 29 counties in western Pennsylvania, 13 counties in northeastern Pennsylvania, the state of West Virginia plus Washington County, Ohio, the state of Delaware and 8 counties in western New York.

Doesn’t work. I downloaded this app as part of my company’s health plan and when I try to log in it just says “you’re using the wrong app”. So I downloaded highmarks other app and it said to use the website. So I logged into the website and it says they’re working on improving the experience and it’s not available. So far, severely underwhelmed with highmarks user experience across the board. I just need to check an EOB and I guess aside from calling, they give their members no options.

Can’t log in. Since the last update I can no longer log in. No problem on the regular computer, just the app.

App is horrible. The app makes it near impossible to navigate. Loading is slow and often the buttons to go to the next page are covered by other UI stuff at the bottom of the screen, making it impossible to navigate. When accessing the spending account it often resets back to the main menu. I guess they have to have an app but they might as well not, it IS that bad.

App is difficult to use. The app is absolutely frustrating. Trying to find care is very difficult. It’s very unclear what is covered and who is covered or facilities that are covered. With how much money they take from us each month they could develop a descent app. Calling customer service is a nightmare. No one knows how to help and refer you back to the useless app.

Can’t get ‘pay now’ to work. I keep trying to pay my claims through the app but I click the ‘pay now’ link and nothing happens. I have tried on multiple different Wi-Fi networks and LTE. Other than that, the app works fine.

What a peace of garbage. This app doesn’t do anything. Nothing works and all I keep getting are either error messages or I need to log in. And when I click on login it takes me to welcome to the Sapphire365 Demo. Lol. And we pay money to this company. Hopefully they acutely have real doctors in their network!!

Annoying and difficult. This app is so annoying. It always has an error when you log in. Have to constantly change your password and even that process is challenging because it will give you an error. Please fix. Its impossible to use

Won’t open. I haven’t been able to open this app for months. Every time I try, I get the “Oops, something went wrong” message. This is obviously not very helpful considering I really need to use this app to find a doctor. It wasn’t as urgent months ago but it is becoming urgent. Can’t even view my insurance card offline anymore. They definitely have streamlined the process to accept my premium payments though. Surprise, surprise.

Horrible App. Searching for a provider is a nightmare! Not only do you have to type your password just to run a provider search, the search kicks you out after a few minutes. If you click on a provider/link you must again type your password after getting kicked out to restart your search. Additionally, the list of providers is wildly out of date and ineffective. Multiple offices I have called are permanently closed but listed as accepting new patients in the app.

Always updating. I like seeing the updates every couple of weeks. Nice to see time and effort being put into always improving this app.

Hard to use. Many buttons don’t function. Login doesn’t always work. Many features don’t work on the app but do on the website.

Prescription drug coverage. The very first thing I tried was to get the cost and coverage information that populates as soon as you agree to the terms and conditions and none of the links or whatever works. This is what I would be using the App for the most.

Loading issues. I try logging in and it just never gets past the loading screen. I tried reinstalling the app. Even used a strong WiFi connection and a staring mobile connection and it still just continues to load without ever getting past the log in screen.

Wallet support. This app is nice and useful. However, I would like the option to add this digital card to Apple wallet.

Needs work. Constantly signs you out. This app, and the related website bit have the same fatal flaw that make them nearly unusable. Sorting through to find a medical professional is not a quick process in general and this app constantly signs you out while you try to compare providers. Don’t even try to check an address in maps or click on any notifications. Again, instantly signed out. Every time I try this app or the website I end up with no doc appointment and frustrated because I eventually lose patience with having to sign in every 2 minutes and give up. I’m sure I have some “concierge” or something I could call but I absolutely HATE making phone calls. Like, pretty much phobia level so a working app or even the website properly working would be nice. 😑

TERRIBLE App!!!. This app is THE WORST!!! Your other app designated for your HSA accounts was garbage so your reps told me to use this Highmark app instead. It is equally as bad. I just reset my password online and now when logging into the app, it’s requiring me to change my password before logging in. I just did that online!!! In addition, the button to manage my HSA account and see the transaction details, etc. only works about 30% of the time. The rest of the time, it’s a dead link and the app does nothing. This is NOT helpful to your patients when they need to access their funds. Oh and you say ‘you can just reimburse yourself for eligible expenses’. About that, I set up direct deposit, initiated a funds transfer to my bank and you’re mailing me a check. Do better!

Useless. I started using the “find care” feature to look up local dermatologists and because the amazingly counterintuitive user experience I now need to find a blood pressure specialist. Outrageously frustrating experience. Congrats Highmark, if you wanted to cause me fatigue, frustration and defeat, you nailed it.

Difficult to maneuver. First year member. Still cannot log in. Locked out again. I am ticked off.. Terrible web site. First year membership. Shouldn’t have switched my coverage.

Cannot log OUT. After an app update today, I can still log in ok but the log out function doesn’t work. Contacted customer support via app link to form, but noting here to raise attention.

Amazing App. I have been waiting for an app forever. Works as well as the website. I wish it would show future prior auths and not just previous ones. Other than that amazing!

PASS. This app is a loser. It makes you log back j several times. After every single provider search actually. When you click on a provider and try to go back out to check others, the app crashes completely. It does give any ratings; I have to Google to see what is said about the doctors listed. If I could give this app zero stars, I would. It is literally the worst I have ever used.

Forbidden Error Unresolved. Since I started using this app I received a forbidden error when searching for care/providers. It does not have me logged in and when I try to log in to see if the provider accepts my plan, it gives me the forbidden error. The app needs an UX upgrade. It is extremely messy having it essentially open a web browser within the app to do the search. I used to have UPMC and their app was a lot more user friendly.

Frustrating. This app is ridiculous and so is the website. It tells you to search for doctors or specialists in your area and makes you enter your password multiple times or takes you out of the website to ??? Limbo. I can’t get into my phone app at all. I use my UN and PW and I get an error message that tells me I only have 3 tries. I go to the forgot password to use my ID card information and I get the same message. I have called and WAITED to get no help at all.

NOT in Real Time. This app does NOT update in real time. I had a prescription filled almost 3 weeks ago, picked it up, paid for it, and it's STILL not showing as a claim. I certainly wouldn't call a three-week lag as being real-time.

New to HighMark. I would like to be able to download my member card to my apple wallet. Is this not available. It was available on the BCBS program I just switched from to HighMark.

App review. This app is very quirky. Sometimes I can access some parts of it and other times I cannot. Especially the medication part. It seems to have some glitches. I have used similar apps from other providers and I am using them as my comparison. This app needs some fixes. Thanks.

Doesn’t work. Hangs up all the time on both iPhone and iPad. I even reinstalled on both but that only worked momentarily. Once you get to Activity it freezes and there is no way to proceed or go back. This is broken. Fix it.

So annoying. Makes you login initially using Face ID (which is fine) but then have to manually enter password when looking up covered doctors???? Then repeatedly crashes so you have to essentially put your password in after every dr you click. Hate it.

Abysmal UX. Searching for a provider is practically impossible on the app. Constant crashing and/or forced logouts. Zooming sticks when using the keyboard so you have to manually zoom out (which often causes it to crash). I understand trying to keep the features in-app, but if you can’t do so without having terrible UX, just pop it out to Safari or exclude it altogether instead of wasting your customers’ time logging in and out, closing and reopening.

Difficult. This app is very frustrating. They option to search for a specialist is useless. After signing into the app you have to enter your password again to search and then while scrolling through to find a specific person the app logs you out and you have to start all over. I tried on the website and it’s the same thing.

Would think world class customer service means more. Told to come to app to solve my problem. This app is a problem. Have to sign in every other page, have to deal with your automated payments being stopped and not setting up over the phone. I can't believe this is the new standard of "world class" customer service

Worthless. Over a month later and it’s still not updated with information after appointments and now it wants me to reset my password after 2 months. Pointless and annoying!

Any usability testing at all?. Has the app developer spent even 5 minutes of usability testing? This is the worse app I have seen. When basic functionality such as finding a provider is a multi step process with frequent lack of authorization handoff you know you have an issue. Apparently there is no usability testing for this app.

Newest update is ok.. I don’t know if it is the website or what but every time I try to get my vision coverage information it tells me there’s an error on the page and to call the 800 number or it tells me I timed out and to log back in but it’s showing me logged in....??? Please fix whatever the problem is.

Broken app. I only have this app because my work uses them for insurance. This app is not very user friendly. You have to login to the app every time and then login again to search for providers. More times than not, an error pops up and I can’t use the app.

HORRIBLE. This app consistently locks me out of my account, and tells me my passwords are wrong when I just had to go in and reset my password because it said that my password was incorrect. I’ve reset my password at least 6 times in the 4 months I’ve had this app. I HATE THIS APP! It’s not user friendly what so ever and it’s more of an inconvenience, but I have to use it so I can see what places are in network and check my balances. I would give negative stars if I could.

Like Highmark but HATE the App!. I have used the website and mobile site for as long as I’ve had Highmark and other than a few oddities they both have been excellent. This app on the other hand is absolutely useless! 1)It shows “No Progress Information” under my deductible progress, even though I’ve had 45 claims so far this year. 2) When you click on “View Benefits Grid” it just keeps trying to load something but just sticks and app has to be closed. 3) “Find Care” would be awesome if it actually worked, when you first click on it, you see the first 5 (of 48) doctors nearby, but you can’t do anything from there - no matter what you attempt to do the screen flips to no providers in my area. It is so glitchy that it’s not even worth having the app taking up prime real estate on my phone. And yes.... I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3x with no help also.

Issues signing in. Love using this app but for some reason, the app hasn’t been letting me sign in even though I provide the right credentials. Could it be a glitch that’s preventing this?

This isn’t an app. After downloading the app and working through the account setup, it gave continuous errors to setting up account. Then I restarted the app and now it won’t even open. How is it possible for an app to be this bad?

So handy!!. I love this app enough to seek it out in App Store to write a review. My son is about to have surgery for a break so I found this to follow the charges. Sooooooo handy to have all the details of current and past charges so quickly available!!! Thank you!

Crippled App. I'm ok with the plain UI and the somewhat less fluent authorization and verification process, but the fact that several crucial links under a major category didn't work, really frustrated me. I'm on a newer iPhone with updated OS so it can't be the issue you'd think. Also, the pw reset experience was some of the worst because after you've done all that, you were greeted with a server error message using the new login. Has the dev team done any testing on all the major platforms and devices? I can't imaging anyone or any internal department had the need to rush this app out without quality control like Boeing on the 737s.

Still not working. Update 5/20: I got a developer response today asking for more info today. There were no suggestions though. Today—before I got their message—I messed with it one more time and I think I’ve found the problem. It doesn’t seem to allow you to use the Face ID or auto fill. It will let me enter the password manually or copy/paste it from my saved passwords. I’ve only tried it a few times so far so we shall see. Either way it’s still not working as it should. Old review: I’ve complained and no one listens. The app no longer lets you login unless you change your password every single time and now the actual website is doing it. The facial recognition stopped working way before that. Very unprofessional.

Bring apple wallet function. Works well, but would love to be able to add my insurance card to apple wallet. Bring it to the next update please!

Search button. The search button works 1 out of 5 times

Not transparent. Although it’s nice to see all claims made, there is insufficient detail, and it doesn’t match the bills I get whatsoever. Importantly, why is there no tracker for my deductible and my out of pocket totals? That seems like “fuzzy math” to me anyway, and to not be transparent about it only heightens my concern.

Worst app. This app is terrible if you can even get it to work and login. 6-7/10 times there’s an error message and won’t even log in. It won’t allow download of EOB which is required for submission sometimes. Sessions time out in the middle of activity. Dealing with the app is as difficult and not user friendly as being a Highmark customer.

Can’t use it in landscape mode.. I need landscape mode because it’s bigger and easier to see. The app is worthless without it. You’d think an insurance carrier would understand they have elders who would be the ones who use this the most often. Lastly. A law was past making insurance companies pay doctors at least what Medicare pays. I’m losing my Crohn’s specialist because this company is breaking the law and won’t pay Delaware Center for Digestive Care appropriately and also refuses to negotiate or even discuss fees. I pay for the best insurance you provide and you’re trying to kill me by taking away the best doctors.

Horrendous. The application is absolutely terrible I would give it zero stars if possible. Nothing loads and it is EXTREMELY difficult to find any info you’re looking for.

Always crashing. I never know when this app will actually work. I usually login on my computer to check claims. It would be nice to use while I’m disputing claim at the actual doctors office though. Just did the update a couple weeks ago and haven’t been able to get it to open one time.

Sending or spring EOB. It does not appear that the ability to send or print EOB from mobile app exists. Need to add the ability to send a digital copy so the EOBs can be printed.

What happened?. Recently downloaded the app. When I first started using it, I could see progress towards my deductible. Now, the information does not populate.

Primary care’s problems. I try find the location in nc but it keeping put it in West Virginia all the time

Rarely works. Very frustrating!

Frustrating app. Just about everything around registration, log in, and email confirmation works very poorly. Even though you may have filled in a specific field. You may see errors such as ‘this field is required’. Or you may enter the confirmation code for your email and the submit button just won’t take. Or logging in on an iPhone using the password app won’t work either. The app won’t see the password, even though it is filled in, until you edit it and then undo the edit. C’mon people, this is so basic, can we get this to work, please?

Can’t manage spending account.. I have an HSA that I’d like to manage. Unfortunately this isn’t possible at all on an iPad. If I tap “manage” in this app, it gives the following error: Activity ID: aca04edb-7fbf-4705-2509-0080010000ea Error time: Wed, 26 Aug 2020 22:44:29 GMT Cookie: enabled User agent string: Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 12_4_8 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/15E148 It also fails in Safari, Firefox, Edge, and even Chrome, if you try to access it through the main highmarkbcb website.

This app is broken. This app doesn’t work at all. All I get when I login is a screen that says coming soon. What a joke!

Doesn’t work.. The app doesn’t work period. Neither the iPad or iPhone device.

No Access. Just downloaded the app. Keeps giving me error message. Please help!

Login issues. I use the Highmark website weekly, so I am very aware of my username and password. The app however has major login issues. 2 years now and it never logs in correctly without a call and a reset. Deleted the app, useless.

Useless!. Just downloaded the app and it won’t load, the little beach ball just spins and spins. My network is working just fine so that’s not the problem.

Doesn’t show deductible. This app used to be great! But once you updated, the deductible and out of pocket info is gone!

Bad update. Can”t log in after last upgrade. It forgot that I had set up face id. But I fill in username and password, app responds ‘password is required’. Same pw works on website.

Not as user friendly as other apps. Also have difficulty with login. Not just at the time of this review but Many times I have been required to reset my password. I’ve had the same ID for years and when you are trying to login for a specific reason it’s extremely frustrating to be required to input the same information then after that to be required to reset your password which requires either a text code or email code. Especially when some of us are not tech savvy. Even worse with a android device. It would be nice for you to let us have the option of saving our login information including passwords. Or if the biometric sign in option actually would log into our account. As it is set up now the biometric doesn’t login or save passwords. What do you think about using Biometric and maybe a pin # that we set up should be enough security.

No Apple wallet support. Seems like a no brainer to add Apple wallet support.

Not as good as Cigna App. Find a doctor, misspelled my password 3 times, which is a hassle itself just to find a doctor or Facility. Now I’m locked out, of app and online..

Can’t Do HSA Investments. I can never get the HSA investment button to work in the app. It takes you back to the same screen. Maybe it’s a bug.

One of the worst app. I have never seen any other worst app like this one I installed on my iPhone it hasn’t work since Jan 1 2021 the just keep going in round round round. I just deleted but sadly they don’t care about their services

Nice looking but glitchy. Notifications never go away and pop up as soon as you downloads the app, logged in or not. Deductible info is incorrect. Slow to load and glitchy.

Worthless App. Most of the links do not work. There is not an option to request prescription refill or order status. Half of my embedded information is outdated and/or incorrect. Just go to their slow clunky website and trash this piece of junk app.

Like the insurance..... The app only partially works and when you try the “Find Care” menu, it stops working. Useless if you are looking for specific care.
