Surfshark VPN: Fast VPN App Comments & Reviews 2026

A VPN Provider That Finally Supports Mexican Netflix Regions!. Last year, I traveled to Mexico to visit some family members for the holidays (responsibly, of course) in December and Netflix showed me shows that were available there. And one of those shows is called “Yo soy Betty, la fea.” I got so hooked on it, but then I had to travel back to the US because I will start university again next week. Anyways, once I arrived to the US, I tried to keep watching the show but it is not available here. Because of that, I did some researched on some vpn providers and checked if they support Mexican Netflix regions so that I could continue watching the show and SurfsharkVPN has been the only vpn provider that I found that supports Mexican Netflix regions, finally! NordVPN, ExpressVPN, CyberghostVPN, and ProtonVPN are some vpn providers that don’t support Mexican Netflix regions as of now, so I was ecstatic when I found out that SurfsharkVPN does.

It was good while it lasted….PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY!. Soooo, I think this might be the second review in my whole life that I have left something regarding my pleasant- quickly turning to and unpleasant experience in a matter of 2 weeks or so. I have been using Surfshark for 3 months now I believe, and the first month was great second month was fine- but the beginning of the 3rd month I have been having non stop- and I mean NON stop issues connecting to my VPN. Regardless of the setting’s I have for my VPN (kill switch, no boarders, etc.) this should not be an issue especially after I sent in several (more than 4 several occasions) regarding this issue and nothing has been done to fix this or even acknowledge this. If this continues (in the next week) I will unfortunately have to stop using this app. It has many great features but this is just unacceptable. I can’t even use my internet without feeling like I’m being watched by all these been add company’s, to be all honest you have left me exposed… I am very dissatisfied in your support teams/ technical team’s taking no efforts to fix this.

Works, but eh... So yea it definitely works well, let’s me surf the web on my computer without any worries of someone tracking what I’m up to. It Let’s me access other regional content that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to watch, like advertised. That aspect of the app works great and I’m really happy with it. However the reason I only gave it 3 * was because of the way that it works on my iPhone. When I first turn the app on it works fine, if not a little slower then normal. When I put my phone away for a while and come back to it is usually when I start to have problems. Starts with the phone just being pretty slow, longer download speeds and webpage loading time. Then eventually after a handful of hours pages just will stop loading. I play Pokémon go and that app in particular seems to really hate when a VPN is running in the background. I think having so many issues with that specific app may have kinda soured me but I’m trying to be reasonable. It works for just regular browsing on your laptop without issues for sure and even to an extent on your phone. If you play Pokémon go however, I wouldn’t recommend it.

So much for a free trial.... - Update. Original: So, I was looking for a VPN to use for about a day, as I am doing troubleshooting. Surfshark got great reviews on a lot of pages (though they all earn commissions probably, so idk how accurate those reviews are), so I decided to try it out. I’m a forgetful person, so as I do with most subscriptions with free trials, I activate them then cancel the subscription, keeping the free trial and then afterwards, deciding if I’ll continue or not. The second I cancelled the subscription’s renewal for after the week, I was hit with all kinds of notifications about how my plan had expired, and I couldn’t use the VPN without “an active subscription” - which goes directly against the idea of a free trial. So, as the title states - so much for a free trial. 1 Star. Update: Spoke to support about the issue, and was given a new account with the week’s free trial. Upping to 3 stars, had an excellent support experience. However, I think the problem I described shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

GARBAGE Do NOT Buy!. I read many positive reviews about SurfShark (probably written by affiliates), so I purchased an extended plan that included the antivirus. I had problems right away and was going back and forth with support. The problem was never resolved. Since support didn’t fix the problem I requested a refund. They refused a refund because it had been over 30 days since purchase. I purchased nearly 3 years of service, and they refuse to give a pro-rated refund. At least the VPN USED to work. Now, it is extremely slow, constantly disconnects, and ALL IP’s are blocked by major websites. If you want to search using Google be prepared to solve 10+ captchas. AWFUL customer support and AWFUL service. UPDATE - Regarding the developer’s response. I’ve gone through HOURS of “trouble shooting” with “support”. There is never resolution, and they request I try the same things over and over again (insanity). The service becomes worse and worse. This morning, using the closest server, the speed is so slow it is ridiculous. All USA servers have bad IP’s, which makes surfing the web nearly impossible. Around 1/3 of sites completely block and others require endless captcha.

Surfshark doesn’t work optimally in China, sometimes take infinitely long to connect to a location. I’ve been using Surfshark for a little over a month so far, this vpn isn’t the best but reasonably priced in relevance to its performance, in the past few weeks, I’ve encountered many connectivity issues since I paid for a 24 months plan, they’re annoying indeed but most importantly it causes so much inconvenience to my daily basis like if I’m not at home I gotta reconnect to vpn servers for several times or some just won’t work due to the restrictive internet in China, it’s not only happening on my phone but also on pc which is even more annoying and more frequently, for instance if I connected to locations in United States, it would usually appear a red banner saying we’ve detected an issue on your internet or something every 30 minutes or less sometimes :( Overall,it’s not working well in China I hope Surfshark team can help out the people like me in countries like China with internet restrictions.

Bad customer service bad connection. I purchased one month of subscription specifically for my trip overseas in China. The VPN doesn’t work well because most of the so called countries in the app won’t work, I have to try one by one and to find one that works which take half an hour! even then it’s not working well everyday whereby I finally gave up and paid for another VPN service which has much better customer service. Shortly after returning from my trip and I realized surfshark had my locked on a auto renewal. I contacted customer service and support chat has bad attitude, will not refund a cent even though I am only asking for prorated refund from today onwards, explaining to them that they can verify I had not used theirs service since the auto renewal date. Very disappointed. The so called customer satisfaction marketed is a joke. Cannot recommend them! Bad customer service and dishonesty practices by signing people up for auto renewal but no email mentioning such!

Keeps disconnecting from phone. I don’t recommend this right now. I got Surfshark after reading differnt articles about it. At first it worked well then it started disconnecting from my phone. Over half the time when I check my phone it’s disconnected from the server which to me defeats the purpose!! I contacted the help desk and all I get is to try this setting or that setting . If you report it on the app after you send the message you get the same thing over to try this, check your internet connection etc. I’ve tried changing the thing I don’t know how many times. It doesn’t do it to the tablets or computers. I got 3 years coverage because of special pricing on it. At this point I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I will not be going with Surfshark again. Really disappointed after all the good reviews in computer websites plus other websites.

Non-functional. This VPN has not connected a single time for me. I have tried every possible combination. I used ExpressVPN before, so I am positive that it is SurfShark VPN’s issue. They do not have true obfuscated servers, only a “no borders” mode that seems to do nothing. As a matter of fact, all of the different protocols they use seem to do nothing due to getting caught by my company’s firewall (IT systems engineer here) that I’m not going to disable or make an exception for. All of the settings don’t seem to change anything. The best this VPN will do is lie and say it’s connected, but if you check your Apple settings, you’ll find that it is not connected, and your IP address is right there and exposed. A good VPN wouldn’t be able to be caught by our firewall, would not drop connection, and would not have non-functional settings on an enterprise network. I locked in a two year subscription with SurfShark, thinking the affordable price would be worthwhile. You get what you pay for.

Not great for IOS 13 and above. This app drains my battery. I previously reached out to support because I wasn’t able to toggle this VPN on and off. I was instructed to delete the app and re-install. This provided a brief fix. I have maintained the updates and now not only can I not toggle the app on/off, but it drains my battery. I have a paid subscription and the app for my Windows PC works well. On my Mac it’s kind of hit or miss regarding the connection. Doesn’t matter if I have a browser opened or closed sometimes the VPN stays connected and sometimes a reconnect is required. Will be looking at alternatives when renewal time approaches. UPDATE: I received an email within 48 hours with an invitation to reach out and partner for a solution. I replied with more specifics and never heard back. When I noticed all of the developer replies to these reviews, I had a better opinion of this company. Now I’m thinking they make it a point to reply because it’s a good public relations tactic. It’s been about a week since I replied to their email and have not received a reply. Unfortunately for me, I bought the 2 year subscription. Lesson learned..

Does what I need. Tried a couple of different vpn services, ultimately chose Surfshark for the reliable connection and the price. Far as I can tell by different tests this works as good as any vpn does. It was one of the better ones for speed and it connects right away and didn’t have any disconnection problems from my experience. I’ve even not realized I was even using it for days before. I only noticed because of a website detecting it and not allowing a connection, which seemed to happen with the same frequency as it does with any vpn I’ve used. While not perfect I still give five stars as it does everything I need really and I can’t come up with anything bad really. It is legitimately a working VPN which. Is what matters overall I guess. So far so good.

Pass until it gets better. Speeds were not slow or fast, just right in the middle. I couldn’t see server loads, and the vpn would disconnect when changing to another location, or even in the same location. What I mean is this, let’s say I was connected to Seattle, and I wanted to connect to Phoenix, it would attempt to connect, then it just stopped. WiFi is still running. So, I had to press the connect button again, finally connecting afterwards. But, it was the call interruptions to regular cell and FaceTime calls that did it for me. Sometimes it would do great, calls were clear. Other times, they were p.o.s.. It also would drop connection when switching from WiFi to data. I did like that it blocked some ads, though not as much as NordVpn. Unfortunately, there’s more bad than good here. Update: I bought the 1 year by accident, but ultimately said, well lets see, maybe it’ll get better. Nope. I pay for 400mbps, and this slows it down to 17-29mbps. Doesn’t matter what day or time, it slows my internet down. HORRIBLE! No one should invest in this or put up with it. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Works for some content, but not others. I downloaded this app to try to access content in the US as I am in Japan. For the most part, the app is easy to setup, turn on, & I had no trouble verifying that it is working as expected. Unfortunately, it really depends on what content you are trying to access. First, it didn't work when I opened CNN. I was seeing the international page. But after tweaking the VPN, CNN was working. But for reason, no matter what I tried, NFL is still able to detect my real location. So I'm not able to access NFL content restricted in the US. So if you are needing a VPN for NFL, this app will not work for you. I also had a live chat with a rep who confirmed this. I also discovered that the Home tab in the app has some accessibility issues. It doesn't seem to scroll. Probably not a big issue, once the app is setup, you will not need to open it much. But it would be nice to be able to access the Home tab & the info on the screen without difficulty. So the app needs improvement in accessibility. Lastly, it seems that when VPN is running, my phone's battery drains a little faster. I have tested other VPN apps that did not drain my phone's battery anymore than usual. This is definitely an area Surfshark can improve on.

Part of me likes it, the other part doesn’t... I’ll start off by saying that I began a 7 day trial (before committing to the 24 month deal @ $59), and I’m glad I did. I like the UI, but I’ve found that none of my apps work - I constantly have to disconnect & when searching on safari, I always have to complete the captcha cr@p. SOOO Annoying! I just finished up a NordVPN 6 month subscription & I’m thinking that I’ll probably go back to it.. I didn’t have the issues I have with Surfshark & they have a dandy little feature that allows me to pause the VPN for 1, 5, 30 minutes, an hour, etc., which is nice when I need to pause it to sign onto something, because I don’t have to worry about reconnecting, it does it automatically after I’ve chosen the pause duration internal. I also like that there’s an ONION server, which this claims to have, but I had nothing but trouble with it.

Does not work for all websites or apps. Whenever it works it’s fine, but just know that many many apps and websites will not work on. Example: anytime I click on cnn website the VPN automatically disconnects and you have to go back to the app and reconnect and sometimes do this about 5 times in a row, then the website will be visible but only that as anything I click on it will again automatically disconnect and I have to repeat the process. This happens between 1,200 and 2000 times a month, so I always spend the same amount time trying to reconnect the VPN as I actually do web surfing so if I want to block my isp from harvesting my info I have to frustratingly go through this over and over, or I can just disconnect and every app and website works perfectly and displays super fast. A trade off: spend half of your time surfing anonymously and the other reconnecting your VPN over and over or just surf the web and not care about your data but what is even more frustrating is that the whole point was for me to be protected on my works open wireless so I can do online banking but 90% of the time I can’t open the bank app with the VPN active.

OMG. Listen I have 100’s of apps and I don’t recall writing to much reviews. But this app here this app here.... OMG. When I was first trying to decide there were so many choices I then decided to contact Surfshark so a rep or an employee can confirm all my questions so later if there was an issue no one can say I read anything wrong. They confirmed unlimited devices and they are not lying I have my entire family on it firestick in each room all our cell phones all the tablets omg and NOT 1 issue up to this day. I love this my internet browsing is private thanks to Surfshark I was gonna go with IPVanish but I did not regret my decision. You know how we monitor or subscription renewal date well with this I’m worry free when it renew I wouldn’t care cause I love this app my Netflix and firestick works fine no sticking no lagging. keep up the great

24/7 VPN without issues. I have tried about 4 different VPN services to protect my online life but haven’t found one that works well on LTE/5G until now. ExpressVPN was my favorite everything except when i was connected to cellular networks. The transition from a cellular network to WiFi and vice versa caused major issues and had me constantly fiddling with my phone to reestablish connection after the kill switch had been tripped. Enter Surfshark! After some more googling to hopefully find a cheaper replacement for ExpressVPN, I stumbled across Surfshark. Their impressive price point packed in LOADS of features and I couldn’t wait to try it. I was more than surprised by its performance. In the past i don’t think I held a stable mobile connection for more than a few hours before a handoff between cell towers or a WiFi router caused everything to come to a halt. …with Surfshark, I ran my VPN for 30 hours once and didn’t even realize it was still on! To me that’s the beauty of this service. It’s a set it and forget type of service that can do as little or as much as you want. You don’t want security to be a hassle, and Surfshark is the exact opposite. The speed is nothing to sneeze at either. I wouldn’t rank it at the tip top, but it is not slacking. At an average of 100Mb/s - 150Mb/s, this VPN is plenty fast and will easily stream 4K video. So far, I haven’t found anything to complain about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - Happy Customer

OMG RUN‼️The app BROKE just after the free trial💰. 🤠Hey guys I got this app and after about two weeks it just quit working. 🤮After my free trial.! It just stopped no VPN protection at all‼️ I talk to customer support through chat and it was really good talking to a very nice human being but I’ve felt like I have to prove everything to them 👎 taking screenshots of everything I sent to them I had to prove I had an account with them. I had to prove I paid for a subscription that didn’t work. Not good at all. 🤢I went into it wanting help trying to get it fixed so I can use a VPN but after a lengthy discussion I felt like I was getting a runaround I decided I wanted a complete refund. Shop around there’s too many big glitches in the system I don’t think the developer really Recognize the existence of the problem. Even though I could prove it through screenshots. I would definitely have given them a higher review if they could have fix the problem to start with. I really wish I could help them fix the problem so other customers won’t have to go through what I went through. I guess part of the fix begins here with this review✍️. Seriously, Surfshark if I can help you just reach out to me.🌷

WOW!!!. I had wasted money on other VPN services out there, and my problem was they kept disconnecting. So I would spend hours on an open network possibly unsecured. So I sat down and just looked and looked, for me my phone is most important for me to secure. I do lots on it and have lots of sensitive info like everyone else. When surfshark popped it was perfect, 1st off the price was just the best I had seen. 2nd the amount of devices where even better unlimited (at least that’s how it was advertised a year ago I haven’t looked recently) 3rd it could virtually work with anything without the hassle of something going wrong. Over they every thing you need I even added the hacklock and blind search clean web. It makes such a difference for me, but what they supply is the monitoring aspect and actually alert you when oh let’s say your emails been compromised. I’ll keep on purchasing my subscription I purchased 3 years my firs go around.

Best personal VPN. This is the best personal VPN I’ve tried yet. I’ve used TorGuard, KeepSolid, and Private Internet Access and quit using all of them because they were causing problems with my internet usage or otherwise difficult to use. Surfshark is much better!! Rock solid performance - never drops the connection. Zero loss of connection speed (it’s actually faster than w/o VPN sometimes!). It’s super easy to use. The only problem I’ve had is with the browser extension interfering with my work VPN but that’s hardly a complaint. I just don’t use it on my work browser. I’d like to see better ad-blocking as I’m still getting ads even with CleanWeb turned on, and an iOS 14 style widget would be a nice upgrade. Overall it’s an awesome VPN and I’m really pleased with the value for my money.

Works well but……. The VPN works well and I really like the multi location option however a lot of websites recognize the VPN and won’t allow you to access their site with the VPN on which kind of defeats the purpose. I choose Surfshark over other VPNs because they supposedly have the obfuscate option with masks your traffic so websites don’t know your using a VPN however it doesn’t work, websites still recognize your on a VPN because tons of people are using the same ip address. Only after I purchased the year long subscription Surfshark offered a deal for a few bucks per month where you can have your own dedicated ip address so websites won’t recognize the tons of people using the same ip address and then blocking that ip address. Wish I knew that was an option before I purchased a years subscription.

Listen... I’ve used this device on a personal computer of mine for the last year or so and there’s no doubt it’s one of the best vpn’s out there. But once I installed it on my mobile device( apple ), my experience and excitement for this product kind of withered. I first noticed that upon using, that it blocked access to my personal and business banking apps, which was really nerve wrecking but there’s ways to figure that out right( just turn off vpn once accessing my account). But what’s making me write this review is the fact that I noticed it’s really slowing down my phone. I run a business and anything that hinders my productivity is really a liability. What I believe, because of my experience using this with other devices, is that this vpn is so top of the line, that maybe a less intense and involved vpn will be more suitable for mobile devices. I’ll continue to using this for my personal and work computers, but for the reasons listed above, will stick to the more basic vpn I’ve used the last couple of years.

best of 5 others tried. tried about five of the “top recommended vpns by experts” within the last few years and surfshark takes the cake in the majority of critical categories to me like speed, functionality and features but just the consistency of it alone is what puts it above the others imo. Others I tried were good sometimes then horrible the next day, was starting to think my own routers/connection were the problem but surfshark proved I’m not crazy and the other services are lacking stability That, along with the amount of extra features and most importantly to me, a decent list of customizable settings and preferences. Wish there were even more. The Interfaces across devices are intuitive and its easy to use/understand Seems like they actually have the consumer’s best interests at heart which is so hard to find nowadays. Can sleep at night knowing I’m gucci down to the socks

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I got Surfshark 1) to protect my data and 2) so I could switch locations and watch different shows on Netflix. Since downloading it a few months ago and paying for the subscription and all that, not only does it not accomplish the two things I downloaded it for, but it makes them worse. Since using Surfshark I’ve notice more spam emails and text messages. It was never a big problem before, I’d get a spam text here and there, but since downloading it I started getting them every day. I also found out that Netflix doesn’t like VPNs. I’m not sure if it’s just Surfshark but whenever it’s on Netflix acts like my phone is offline and I get a notification telling me to turn off my VPN to continue using Netflix. The issue is, even after disconnecting the VPN Netflix still won’t work for a few hours. So now after paying like $50 for this app, I’m left with more problems than I started with and less money. Before choosing a VPN I did some research and saw great reviews for Surfshark so I was incredibly disappointed. I wouldn’t use it again even if it was free.

I’d give it 1 star, but I feel like my case may be the exception given the other ratings/reviews.. Since I installed this VPN around 48 hours ago it has completely turned my iPhone upside down. All of the sudden basically all of my contacts are blocked? I get this error message saying “Unable to Send Message, Message Blocking Active”…except I didn’t block any of these people, nor did they block me. Plus, it’s all of my contacts save a few from what I can tell. I’ve tried power cycling my phone, a hard reset, I’ve tried it away from home (outside of Wi-Fi), it’s all the same and makes zero sense. Then it’s effecting my apps, the McDonald’s app wouldn’t load at all, it was a complete lost cause. Then my email clients were both faulty, it’s like it just dropped a nuke inside my device. Idk, I’m about to just delete the whole thing and hope to god it helps and undoes the damage. I’m afraid that I’ll get rid of it and it will stay the same, then I’ll be left with the mess. I’d write it off to something else but there hasn’t been any other substantial changes made to my device or day-to-day operations. Would appreciate if someone would reach out to me and help resolve this issue.

I hardly EVER give 5 stars. Surfshark is hands down the best VPN I have used. And I have used quite a bit. Hola, Betternet, Hotspot Shield, ExpressVPN, you name it. Not one of them comes close to Surfshark! The servers are speedy. Your privacy is real. I looked up my IP several times and I am most definitely in the country I selected. And privacy is what you really want these days. And Surfshark gives you that. Customer service? Are you kidding me? They answer immediately in chat and are extremely helpful? I don’t think I have ever had this much help from a VPN company. When I asked questions in chat over at ExpressVPN all they wanted to do was sell me an extremely expensive subscription. Surfshark takes the time to help you, guide you through the process, even if you know next to nothing about WiFi, VPN’s or are not really tech savvy. Hands down, Surfshark is the best VPN I have ever used. I stated as much above and I will stand by it. And it really is very affordable. It works every single day, every single time you connect. And they are constantly making it better and updating the app. If you have an issue, which has been rare for me, they are on top of it. Very helpful. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable. I will definitively continue being a subscriber.

The most frustrating customer service. I do not usually take my time to do reviews , but when i do , it’s either got to be outstanding service or product or terrible crappy service product . And unfortunately surfshark and it’s customer service especially have been terrible to deal with . I have been going back and forth with customer service through emails that i am not satisfied with the surfshark vpn as it keeps on disconnecting my internet, doesn’t allow me to login into bank accounts , and every time i try to use a site like google for example it keeps on wanting me to verify i am human . Once surfshark is disconnected all these work normal . For 5 days now i have been having back & forth email with surfshark that i am not happy and have uninstalled all their apps from all my phones and computers and to be issued a refund however they keep on insisting that i should change settings and read instruction manuals . This is supposed to be a “no hassle refund” process . I see nothing but frustration from them . Maybe this is just my experience alone , but i do not trust contacting their customer service again .

After 1 1/2 years of using surfshark….. Overall good VPN service. There are a couple of issues I had like using surfshark with a couple of routers that support VPN. XBOX & PlayStation as well as Roku devices I wish I could have connected those as well but has proven to be very difficult if not impossible. Minor bugs like being able to login from some of my other devices. When trying to login using the passwords given from surfshark the app will allow you to type in the password on certain browsers and sometimes the passwords don’t work at all. Also when using surfshark you have to be careful to remember to turn it off on cellular because I notice my iPhone and iPad Pro will go through data like crazy when I’m not even on my devices very much like overnight when I wake up my devices used up more data while I was asleep than when I was actually using them. So that’s something to look out for. On the plus side Speeds are fast compared to other providers and connection time is super fast. Whenever I checked my ip and dns, connection was 100% secure everytime. So surfshark is very secure once your able to setup all of your devices which can be a task. I’ve used 3 different name brand VPN providers and surfshark I put at the top of that list.

Fantastic service with amazing price. I looked at quite a few different VPN services and researched a bit, and Surfshark had everything I was looking for a fraction of the cost as other VPN services. They have an extremely friendly customer service division, they’re not owned by a conglomerate (like ExpressVPN is), and they’re one of the only VPN services that runs on RAM servers only (meaning they don’t store your data). I suppose the only complaint I have is that it’s somewhat unfriendly for beginners, at least on this iOS app (I haven’t tried using it on a PC). I had never heard of VPN services before, and once I did, I didn’t know how they worked at all. All I knew is that I wanted to watch shows that were unavailable where I live. I got the membership for Surfshark, downloaded the app, and was a little lost on how to go about streaming something from another country. I had to google how lol.

Please don’t make a protecter cost money, you want us to pay to not to get hacked. This is just about 1 thing I hate, the app needing money to even using it. I was on my Facebook messenger and I went to my grandpa aka popas account. There was this link and I pressed it, he said” look who died in a accident, you might know him” and the link was there, I pressed it and then it said, “you need a vpn” and it took me to this. Thinking that it would be perfect. I downloaded it and it took 10 minutes for my kinda slow data. I opened it and signed up. First thing that popped up was the subscription, in which I declined. Then I went to the location, then search and pressed USA, I went to los angles and pressed it, and the subscription popped, I don’t even have my own credit card, you need money to mask your real location?! Absurd becuase free trials I used to get charged my parents credits cards money. A lot of apps I’ve used cost money to use! Yeah! Downloading this for free to buy a subscription! Just make it cost money so I know better money-wanters!

One of the best firewalls. I really like this firewall. Many firewalls I have had cannot always connect to certain WiFi hotspots; additionally those that can may not provide the privacy you need. This combines the best of both. I’ve been using it for about a week and it’s not perfect but it is very good. And it does make you invisible. As far as whether you can access content by using a different location, you may but in the past I haven’t had the best of luck. Still it’s nice to know it’s there. The only thing I would add is that for new users go to Surfshark’s website and take advantage of the deals they have there. Then download this. The price here on the site is reasonable but what you can get directly is a steal.

Will not be renewing. Trustworthy company with unreliable tech. When it works, it works. But I have a really hard time trusting the software. The auto-connect / auto-disconnect is super unreliable. I often do not disconnect when I attach to my home router (it has its own VPN, also through SurfShark). Then, when I leave the house, I’m often 4-5 blocks away before I realize I have not reconnected to the VPN, sometimes it’s not until I get to work and insta doesn’t load because it’s blocked by my benevolent corporate overlords. The WORST (what prompted me to leave this review) is that sometimes the system bar at the top of my phone shows the VPN logo as if I’m connected, but the app says I’m disconnected. When I go to open the app, my connection time is only 2-3 seconds. Maybe this is an iOS, but it’s a pretty big deal when the iOS and the app can’t agree on the state of the system. This happens a lot during what I assume is a failed auto-connect. If you’re on a network that is open with a login screen, forget it. The app gets stuck in a retry loop and you have to pray it glitches out long enough to hit the cancel or pause button, because even with “invisible on network” turned off, the login screen is unreachable with the VPN activated. I chose SurfShark for their reviews and privacy policies, but I’m not sure I can trust their tech to keep my packets safe.

Average. • Good • Affordable • Good Customer Service (responds to email quickly) • Reliability...? and here’s why. Reasons why we use VPN is to hide our IP for security reasons. In addition, we use VPN to be able to access apps that is only available in other countries. Connecting to other states is no issue. Connecting to other countries is unstable. I tried to connect to an Asian Country coz the app is only available to this specific country only. At first it worked and I was so happy that I finally have found a VPN that’s affordable and had this specific country available. The next time I tried connecting again to this Asian country and it did connected then opened the app that allows only that specific country tells me that “this app is not available in other countries “. ??? I toggled back to the VPN and it says I am still connected to that specific asian country. I verified the location that I’m connected with on IPlocation site and it’s telling me that the IP address that I’m connected to is in Europe when actually the VPN says I’m connected to an Asian country. So yes, the VPN is kinda unstable. From time to time the app recognizes that I’m connected to an asian IP address when at times I’m in Europe. I hope they fix this problem.

Not great. It makes it so safari doesn’t work no place I have looked says anything about that of course though. It say the client doesn’t have permission. I’m not sure what that means and I really don’t care it shouldn’t be happening. Especially with the amount of money it cost to use a year of this questionable vpn. It doesn’t throttle your system and that’s great but a lot of vpns do that now. Another thing that rubs me the wrong way is the fact they have a premium plus option. I hate that, it’s disgusting and predatory just don’t be like that and make your app as good as possible for one price and set it at that price like every other top vpn service, that would be consumer friendly and it would make it seem like you care about the customer which is a thing this company is not good at. I’m honestly surprised you guys have this many stars to the point I wouldn’t be surprised that they delete negative reviews for vapid reasons. I’m beyond not impressed.

Works when I need it the least. ****Update: Surfshark has requested I contact customer support. The first I’ve heard from them is after this review. I have sent several Bug Reports and submitted identifiable feed back several times, as well, with no response. The problem is, when the issues occur, I am then unable to access the web, due to the issue.**** Surfshark works when I’m at home or on a friends network. It works on cellular for the most part. I often have to click on fastest connection as mine slows. But, when in an airport, a restaurant, work, or public wifi with an anchor page, Surfshark is almost useless. The difficulties connecting to public wifi with anchor pages is beyond infuriating. Sometimes it will connect with little issue or immediately. Most times it takes 3-5 minutes. Those are usually the times when I have only 5-10 minutes to be on the web and I waste half of it trying to get Surfshark to connect. Then there are the occasional times like today. It took an hour and 15 minutes of waiting while it tried to connect. Waiting while it tried to connect after a VPN configuration reset. Rinse and repeat. Waiting more after configuration reset and iPad restart. Waiting after app uninstall and install. Then, waiting after uninstall, restart, and install. Finally, after one more uninstall, restart and install, it connects. Please fix this! Please! Pretty please!

Update: battery draw still not fixed.. I have used 3 different VPN services over the past decade or so. They all have pros and cons. This is a good VPN for someone that doesn’t want to tinker as it requires little setup and has an easy to use interface. It also seems to have fewer blacklisted servers compared to my previous VPN. That said, I have 2 major complaints and they both pertain to performance. First, when this app runs in the background on my iPhone 13, it seems to draw considerably from the battery. And second, it seems to affect performance significantly. Apps run slow and lag. Hopefully they can fix these power draw/performance issues with an update. I am in app version 3.11.3 and iOS 16.5.1. Update: I am subtracting another star as the battery draining issue has not been fixed(and seems to be getting worse). If I don’t use my phone at all my battery will lose 20% of its charge by midday just from letting surfshark run in the background. Sadly cannot recommend this app for mobile users.

Auto connect imperfect. Auto connect doesn’t always work. I usually have to manually connect/disconnect the VPN whether I am on a trusted network or not. I think it may help to always have the app open, but even that doesn’t always work. I also have my auto connect set to certain connections, but it doesn’t always default to the one I’ve set. Sometimes the VPN will disconnect and my connection to a wifi will stay as well. This is a security risk and inconvenience as I’m expecting the connection to stay unless I switch networks or disconnect the VPN. Once in a while there will be interruptions to my connection as well, and I’m not sure if it’s because of the provider or the VPN is just working poorly at certain times. Occasionally it won’t work either on my devices, so I have to disconnect it entirely. Lastly, I will say the VPN works fine 99% of the time. The connection stays, is fast, and I’m sure it keeps you protected. However, that 1% is extremely important. I would rather experience a connection interruption than a security risk. I’m not sure how the other VPNs are, but this one is okay. It doesn’t deserve 4 stars though.

I never think about it..!. I literally never have to think about Surfshark, which is what we all want when it comes to a VPN. It works so reliably & flawlessly while using it, that I always forget its running especially since I never experience lag or connection problems. My wife ordered the 3 year subscription & not only was the price insanely cheap, but it easily fit all our devices on one plan (her 4 my 1 lol.) My only complaint would be what many others have already mentioned- the app can be a huge data/battery drain if you don’t remember to turn it off, but tbh these are issues that don’t affect me very much and I believe they are easily managed so I still give Surf Shark 5 stars.

UPDATE. UPDATE: Sept 2021 this app slows my IPhone so much I must shut off the VPN. Not sure why… talking to a tech is nearly impossible:-( EARLIER: Four days without data/internet And four days of incompetence from ATT phone techs who twice lost me when doing tests and never called back, a tech who said she couldn’t help me because others had tried and a supervisor who called me Monday night at 10:30pm to assure me she would solve the problem and call me back... it’s now Thursday night and she never called back. On Wednesday an online ATT tech sent me to an ATT store and I git a new SIMS card that didn’t help but the guy went they all my settings and found nothing wrong... I went home, called again and ATT tech sent me to the Geek Squad at Best Buy’s a waste of time (100 mile round trip) who told me to go to an APPLE store but online it said ALL APPLE STORES CLOSED UNTIL JUNE 1 (today May 27). I called Apple support who gave an appointment to the ONE Apple store open in Michigan for repair only the next day. Another 100 mile round trip but they fixed it. The solution was very simple that every ATT knucklehead should have asked or realized... my VPN had crashed causing me to lose all data/internet connection. SO BEWARE your VPN might crash and cause you problems! JUST shut it off, update and reboot to save all the headaches I had.

7 day Free Trial Doesnt Work. I am testing out different VPN service options and came across this one through a Top 10 online review. Tried the iTunes download free trial for 7 days with the option to extend afterwards. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work! The settings on the app says there no subscription and asks to extend and then takes you to another page offerings you different subscription plans that don’t include 7 day free trial but 30 day money back guarantee’s on difference subscriptions. That’s called a bait and switch in marketing terms. Customer service was immediate and really helpful to try and solve the problem but unfortunately the tech part of this product doesn’t match the quality of their customer service. I would like to give them an extra star for the customer service but it’s a tech company that doesn’t have an easy to use tech product so it’s hard to offer that and after reading some other reviews it seems like there are more tech issues with this product. It’s a shame, great name and logo, great customer service, just need a product to match.

Connection. Every time I have your program on, it will not let me connect to the Internet will not let me connect to my hearing aids. Will not let me connect to websites that I use all the time I have to disconnect that to be able to get anything. I’m finding it to be very useless. I am just one step from just deleting everything and doing without this. I keep it turned off all the time anyway the only time I have a trouble when it automatically turns itself on then I have to go find it and turn it off it doesn’t do anything for me, but cancels out everything I’m trying to do. Can’t connect to the Internet. I can’t connect to any of the websites that I use on a regular basis, if I have a problem it’s with this app I delete the disconnect the app everything works fine so I don’t. I definitely don’t ever want to do the app. I don’t download lumped all of these different things. Nothing works. I don’t know how to go in and change all of these things that you would like to change it’s easier just do away with it then have no problem. Thank you.

Yo developer, why don’t you test your product before you release an update publicly idiot. The recent update they did today is the 22nd 2024 of June. The recent update completely broke the rotating and the ability to submit a ticket for help attention to the developer. I’m not going to respond to you. I don’t have you lost the chance at my business there’s nothing you can do to fix it. Perhaps you can take it yourself by fixing your app for me are you have a lost my trust forever there’s no second chances because identity he won’t give me a second chance and I would be victimized by the identity thief because your app is trash after the update. It was horrible before, but it’s even completely canceled my subscription and will never give you a penny no matter what you do.

Worthless. We got this app for use on our two iPhones while traveling in Europe. This was based on an online review by a couple who used the app extensively while traveling the world for six months. It sounded great. However, not only did it not work (Surfshark never once found/used/created a VPN), it blocked us from using any available wireless service while traveling. For example, wherever we were, the lodging or hotel would have Wireless available. If we logged onto that, we would see that wireless connection start but then within 20 seconds see “no Internet connection” just below the apparent wireless connection. There would never be an alternative “safer” VPN to replace it — just no internet. Nothing we did would correct this. We also were prevented for the most part from using data, making phone calls, or sending texts. Pretty much everything was blocked. We called Verizon to ask why this was happening as we had signed up for one month of international calling (we thought that was the problem). Verizon helped troubleshoot a few things, but no matter what we did everything soon was nonfunctional. Finally, I turned off Surfshark and immediately was able to use the local wireless. Seamlessly. We also were again able to use our phones for data, calls, and texts. Then I allowed Surfshark to start back up and, just as before, we were blocked from using any wireless whatsoever. Don’t waste your money.

Good so far. I replaced Disconnect Premium with SurfShark. I believe that Disconnect has a more robust advertising blocking experience since some apps that I used had zero advertising within it and SurfShark is letting quite a bit through. I will continue to work with this due to the fact that Disconnect logs every click and website visited being based in the US. SurfShark contains no logs. I’m not doing anything improper, but my browsing and operational data is mine to distribute, not someone else. Yes, I understand that I am writing this on a device that tracks everything that I do. But I must attempt to be mindful, and for that, I appreciate this particular app since they are the only other VPN that is making a try at providing good IP masking and adblocking device-wide. I have not had challenges with the kill-switch like others but I can tell you that I put my connections through the wringer. I use SurfShark, Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 as my DNS server, three different blockers and have locked down Bluetooth and WiFi sniffing. Speeds are slower, but I can still stream.

It works when it needs too, but…. Constantly messes up or disconnects whenever it wants to, I have the VPN on my phone, tablet and computer. It works OK on my computer when I’m switching from different regions, but it disconnects or lag slow when I’m just browsing the Internet or using different streaming sites. With my phone as I’m typing this right now it was working well on my phone but now it keeps going in and out as well. My phone is loading slow and I have good range with my Wi-Fi. My Wi-Fi has been perfect, but this is my phone I have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting or changing it to something different in order for my phone to work or load up. Now on my tablet in order for me to even use the Internet I have to turn off my VPN. I can’t use my VPN at all with my tablet. It won’t load up. It’ll buffer all day. I literally thought that there was something wrong with like my tablet because I had just got it, but it was the VPN like it would not let me load up nothing not even my apps that I downloaded nothing was loading so I had to turn off the VPN just for my tablet to work. So $50 something is great for a year, but I won’t be renewing once my subscription expires.

Only 5/5 VPN for all my devices. Been using SurfShark VPN for almost a year now and it is without a doubt the best overall network proxy I’ve had the chance to test on all of my mobile and desktop devices. The connections are incredibly stable and the speeds often reach within 10 Mbps (or less) of my original ISP rate. The iOS and MacOS apps are a bit stripped down (compared to the versions available on other OS platforms), however this makes SurfShark CPU-friendly and a no-brainer for just running in the background at all times. I got lucky with price and locked in a 36-month plan (one time payment) at an extremely low rate of less than $2/month - so definitely keep your eyes out for discounted promos as they are not always advertised on all pages.

Update:. Miles helped me get back into everything! I think the other guy was just horrible at his job! If you have to talk to tech support and you get someone named Leroy, disconnect and talk to someone else! Thank you Miles I tried to log in, had 2FA set up and nothing would let me sign in. Contacted customer support. Gave them the receipt, card number that I purchased the subscription with and everything they asked for. The would not take down the 2FA to let me into my account because I did not have the correct expiration date. Sorry I don’t hold on to old cards. They were however able to cancel the renewal. But now I have $80 2 year subscription that I can not use. Don’t waste your time with this one. Totally shady!!

Brick wall with no gate. This seemed to work for a few weeks, and then suddenly I had to disconnect the vpn use my phone for anything. I consider tech support chats, troubleshooting, and reading “help” pages to be a masochist’s garden of delights, usually accompanied with a masochistic lack of satisfaction, so I put off contacting support. After a few weeks of disconnecting the vpn any time I needed to use my phone, I did the chat thing to delete my account. Again, I would rather endure physical pain than commit to an unknown amount of time doing something I dislike intensely with no expectation of success. Apparently I waited too long to get my money back, and they weren’t willing to budge, despite that I had not been using their service. I had to turn their service off to do anything. So I canceled the auto renewal and deleted the app. Don’t ask me to buy your product and then expect me to also spend my time fixing your product.

False Advertisement of Free Trial. Be aware — Surfshark falsely advertises on the free trial and makes canceling and getting a refund of their subscription extremely difficult. It’s been two months since my request, and I still haven’t got my refund to the subscription. I downloaded Surfshark on Aug 1 and requested their team to cancel my subscription before the free trial ended on Aug 7. However their team kept postponing proper actions but suggesting what benefits their app could provide, which in the end caused a charge of an annual membership on my card. After multiple requests of a refund, they finally replied that they cannot process the refund as my subscription was made through my Apple ID. I proceeded to request a refund with Apple following the instructions provided by Surfshark support, only to find out that Apple support helps with Apple subscriptions such as Apple Music only. Very frustrating experience overall. The app itself does seem to work as expected. It’s just not what I need on a regular basis. I also find the false advertisement disturbing and I have to share it here.

Disconnects constantly. No fix from customer support.. The app is nicely designed and intuitive. Unfortunately the service just doesn’t work making the app almost useless. After a while the VPN will block all your data and you will need to manually switch it off, and that’s incredibly annoying. I spent a week going back and forth with support (very responsive folks). However, after trying everything and switching off all features from the app (kill switch, no borders, protocol, etc), their suggestion was to use an OpenVPN configuration, which I needed to set manually trough another app. In my opinion this means going around the problem rather then solving it but I tried it anyway. Well, I never managed to connect so I just had to give up. I hope they get a grip, as of today Surfshark is basically not an iOS product.

The Duality of Human Nature: Exemplary Today, Reprehensible Tomorrow—How Technology Can Amplify Both. SurfShark is my third paid VPN subscription, following two highly regarded services. I stayed with my previous providers through multiple renewals, satisfied with their performance. Investing in security and peace of mind is worth it. However, everyone has a point where cost becomes a deciding factor. That’s how I found myself switching to SurfShark, despite my previous VPN’s serving me well. Since subscribing, I’ve reached out to SurfShark’s support team twice and have been impressed by their prompt responses, follow-ups, and detailed video tutorials. Their customer service has enhanced my understanding of SurfShark’s features, providing me with much-needed peace of mind. While technology can elevate us, it can also lead us astray. SurfShark’s quality and support have reassured me that my investment in this VPN was the right choice.

Great value VPN. I found this app to be simple to use but sometimes difficult to connect to some networks but the benefit is that I have more settings to fix them. Great value for money hence 5 stars. Automatic encryption detection or a comparability mode would be a great addition to which is all I see lacking compared to top end apps.

Best VPN ever. This is an amazing VPN, it’s cheap and works flawlessly. I like how you can connect to Other countries networks. All the other VPNs are expensive this is cheap if I were to pick any VPN it would be this one so get this for your privacy and so you can watch videos and Netflix shows wherever and there was no complications.

Jesus C it’s slow in Australia.. Feel like I’ve gone back to the days of dial up with this on. Features are great. Unfortunately it’s ruined by lag. Look elsewhere. Only wish I got the trial before committing to 2 years. Tax right off at least. Oh. And can’t get antivirus because there’s a constant error. Seriously bad.

Pretty good. I have been using this for a couple of years now. Speed for a VPN is good. Used it to get different Netflix countries no problem. Sometimes google search chucks a wobbly with it on. Some games disconnect frequently with it on, that’s annoying. Use it all the time on public networks, gives peace of mind. Before I was using Surfshark and Bitdefender I got a few viruses, these have been remarkably absent since using these apps.

Slick like a Shark. 3 months in, and I couldn’t be happier with Surfshark and it’s app. The app it self is very user friendly, and easy to navigate. It does everything you need a vpn to do, and the subscription price I feel is very reasonable. Good job Surfshark 👍🏻

Nord is far better. To activate auto renew, it is just a click of button away. But to deactivate, clients require to file a request to get a link. Then after few days of waiting fill a form and explain why canceling the auto payment. And there is no direct number to call.

Often a PITA. Bought on a good deal. Was easy to setup and get going on Mac and my iPhone. Soon enough no internet , to fix the issue turn off Surfshark . I’ve often found the reason for poor speed and no internet is that Surfshark is on. When turned off the issues go away. Often download speed with Surfshark On is less than 1mbps but with it off it’s up around 9 mbps. In setting I had Surfshark to “do not connect automatically “ however every time I disconnect it reconnects itself and only way to fix was to delete the configuration in the network settings. Stuck with it for a few years though sup put up and shut up. Contacting support often ends in an infinity loop of repeating yourself.

Don’t waste your money!. I am very disappointed and unhappy with the service of Surfshark. Throughout my years of using VPN with other providers, I have not encounter any issues with them. With Surfshark, my account has been blocked twice, however, Surfshark Customer Support team cannot tell me what violation my account has done. I was also told that my account cannot be unblocked and I am unable to use my subscription anymore. There is no refund option offered. If Surfshark is unable to provide a better service, you should not be asking customers to pay for a 2 year subscription. This feels like fraud. I will not recommend Surfshark to anyone!

Don’t purchase!!!!. I was on a free trial for a week and I decided not to renew my subscription. So a day before my trial was about to end I went into their app and deleted my account making sure all my details are gone (including pay details). By the way it was clearly mentioned while deleting your account that all my subscriptions and details (payment included) would be erased permanently. And to make sure I even talked with their staff/agent to not charge me as I had deleted my account. Funny thing is they assured me that I wont get charged! The very next day the invoice shows up on my email. I talked with them again and all they had to say was we didn’t have your information as your account was deleted so they couldn’t do anything about it! Well I have now reported the issue with apple And still waiting on their decision. The VPN its not even good. Heats up my device and I have to constantly reconnect. Not worth your money at all. So please please don’t purchase this vpn.

Can’t fault it. Excellent service. I have many devices in my home & i needed a VPN that could bundle them together with one subscription. Surshark thanks. And fhe ‘Invisible on LAN’ feature is awesome- this way my work IBook is hidden from all the Alexa / Ipads / Phones / TVs etc. it would be great if you could partition into sub-sets. Eg Work, Home & Adults only. Witbout buying 3 modems & consulting with your ISP. Keep the updates rolling thx

Going on four years with surfshark. Have used Surfshark for four years now, fairly priced. Works out at 3 or so dollars a month and can be used on your phone and computer. App is easy to use and they are improving by adding different protection tools but there are additional fees involved. Would recommend simple and easy to use if you’re looking for a simple vpn to use for your parents or kids.

Good app but colour scheme is messed up. Works reliably, could maybe have some more foreign combination options. The only recent gripe is the colour scheme seems to have been screwed up in the latest release (Jan 2022) as it makes the main screen almost impossible to read.

Get used to be amazing. Since the update 4.3+, this app has just served nothing but a waste of time. Although there have been numerous complaints against the loading screen that has been stalled for a long time, unable to log in, connection disruptions, the developer has made no real attempt to fix the issue, only endless promises. Unless only I am not able to refund my long subscription, ill dump it to the trash ..

Terrible security. I’ve had my account broken into over 6 times now, I’ve changed my password several times and it still happened! I’ve since deactivated my account and will not use this service again, the last password I used my phone generated for me and it was still broken into, so it wasn’t to do with my password, it’s surfshark’s security. If I could rate 0 stars I would, that’s beyond appalling that someone can continuously break in.

Turn on my auto renewal without notifying me. Poor customer service experience I have deleted my surfshark account and cancelled the auto renewal, reading from other comments, surfshark may still charge people even they have their account deleted. If surfshark charge me after I have my account deleted which means they didn’t delete my details completely. I will sue them under GDPR since we are given the right to be forgotten.

SurfShark > Other VPNS. I will not lie, this is the first VPN and probably the only VPN I will ever subscribe too for a long-term. It is so easy to use, it has, at high speeds (literally wouldn’t even notice you have a vpn on) on every single site I’ve ever tried to use it for which a different region was needed, and seriously over the last year I have not had a single problem. The ad blocker works wonders, I haven’t seen a pop up since the day I connected. Not to mention for a tiny price compared to other VPNS I literally got 24 months for UNLIMITED devices (which I have a lot of in my family). If you’re trying to pick a VPN or don’t know if you should buy one. Just TRY SurfShark. The features it has cannot be topped and has endless opportunities for you and ALL OF YOUR DEVICES to stay safe and connected, while staying private online! Thanks SurfShark!

Completely disables my devices. On a two year subscription with Surfshark and after the first year of constant issues with blocked content have requested a refund. Surfshark are refusing. Unable to shop for groceries, stream local content or google local companies. Disconnecting Surfshark and everything works perfectly. I’m fed up with contacting support, delayed responses and wasting hours following ‘how to’ instructions. I’m very unhappy and very frustrated with Surfshark. I’m not interested in wasting more hours/days going over the same issues.

Definitely worth trying. I’ve been using surf shark for the past 3-4 years and I highly recommend them. They have an app on almost everything which makes using it on different platforms a breeze. Not to mention they have all the bells and whistles other companies charge extra for.

Using for years, no regrets. Great tool for improving security, low cost and effective. If there were fundamental issues I would change however SurfShark continues to improve with the times and work well and fast. I couldn’t ask for more.

I'm Probably the Problem. I'm 75 and play more than work these days but every game doesn't seem the slightest bit aggrieved by Surf Shark, rather there is an ad beginning at each intake of breath. In other words, to actually complete a single 3 letter word, correctly spelled in the latest Scrabble game I downloaded after buying Surf Shark. I fled after a single turn against each of 4 opponents that included ads with the opportunity to get them to stop quickly. And "delete app" was the final click. So far I haven't found a single game that is miffed by Surf Shark which I actually paid for. Yes, I write too much and ....

Great support!. Their support is amazing. Turns out I don’t need SurfShark One. They refunded me immediately, no questions asked. I had a battery consumption issue with their iOS app. I left a 2 star review. They recommended to contact their support. After some tweak and changes (IKEv2 instead of WireGuard), I’m happy to announce that it’s no longer an issue. As promised, i am updating to a 5 star review and extended another year 🙂

Not working from Iran. I bought this App on June 13, 2022, and paid for 2 years subscription. It did not work. It takes a long time to connect to VPN and after connection it straight way disconnects my device, iphone 13 pro, from wifi and sim card data. I contacted support team and followed their instructions to change VPN protocals, and tried all of them with out success any success and i also changed my location to many other countries and still problem persists. Finally i ran diagnostic process as instructed by the support team and sent it to them and still waiting for their next instructions….

Need to pause/disconnect to connect!. I’ve been using this VPN for quite awhile now and I don’t know why (I’m on Apple iPhone 11) but recently when my vpn is running, my internet access is not usable. As soon as I pause or disconnect, my connect comes through. Didn’t happen too frequently before, but now it’s pretty much all the time. Please let me know if there is something I can do to fix this, otherwise it’s pointless to pay for if I can’t even connect to use it!

Bad for privacy. I had a look at my app privacy report and Surfshark is the all on my phone that contacts trackers the most, including various parts of google. They may well say that it is deidentified data, but repeated studies have shown how easy it is to reidentify data from small bits. Imagine what a group like google can do. The app contacts several domains I don’t recognise, so who knows where your data is going. Every single thing you browse with a vpn on goes through their servers. Given that they are not transparent about the tracking they use, I’m not confident this is a good way of maintaining your privacy. I won’t be renewing. They responded in a way that suggests they don’t know their app is contacting trackers all the time, then obfuscated by talking about encrypting content rather than doing what a vpn’s primary function is - obscuring the sites you visit. They’re selling your data and while telling you you’re not being tracked.

Australia, can’t connect!. This is the second time that I had problem with Surfshark! Although, the customer services will be available for you to chat (via text) but they didn’t solve anything! I can’t connect to Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime and I have tried in every single ways! I signed up for Surfshark for two years plans because I “TRUST” that it won’t be any issue! (Minor issues are acceptable but not that I have to have this frustrating experience in New Year period!!!). I asked them, WHAT IF I can connect to Surfshark at all? Will you refund me the money? They said that their policy is only within 30days!!! Hey, if your product can deliver me the full service (that I paid for!!!) for the whole period that I signed up for, of course, I won’t ask my money back! I want my money back IF you can’t fix my problem and you are unable to give me ETA for the update! I have to sit here and wait forever for you to fix my issue!? This is such an outrages and unfair to customers! I don’t know about other region but for within Australia, BEWARE!!!!

Best value and bang for buck. No issues works on multiple devices I have used express vpn and this is just as good and cheaper. Unlimited devices and ease of use. Highly recommend. Won’t be switching in a hurry

Continued to charge beyond subscription cancellation, made phone unusable. 1. I cancelled my subscription but continued to be charged. No info on website on how to change. Bot chat like communicating with a… bot. Got a “person” to help but again just generic, unhelpful information. Asked for a refund, ignored. 2. If you need to cancel the TRICK is in apple subscriptions. Cancel there. It’s all corporate trickery making cancellation arduous, near impossible and beyond frustrating. Theft. Who would have thought my VPN would steal from me? Haha, not. 3. I never got the app to work, fd up my phone for weeks. I’m too old for this bs clearly. Do not recommend. Worst ever.

Waste of time/money. This is my honest review: I paid for a 2-year subscription. However, after 2 months, I had to uninstall it from my iPhone because it was blocking my incoming calls and emails, among other things. I also noticed that it was blocking some websites on my PC, especially those I used for booking flights. After 4 months, I had to uninstall it from all my devices due to the stress it caused every time I tried to do something.

Works well on mobile device and computer. Surfshark works well on my mobile device and computer. Highly recommended.

Does job. Does its job but beware some apps will freeze your phone for instance I thought my phone was broken and retailers didn’t know either till I figured out. For instance installing binge a streaming service. On my phone but after a couple of days I could only receive text and calls. I had to uninstall and reinstall surfshark. I just don’t use those apps and everything was fine after that but good app

Do not buy this service. There is no warning but this app does not work at all in China. They will not give refund either. I used for a free week and during this time had no issues but soon after the trial period they stopped working. I had similar problems with the other company and they at least refund the partial payment but this company is the worst I have had to deal with. Basically they sell service witch is totally useless for those living in China.

Better than ExpressVPN. From my location in Melbourne, Australia, SurfShark has been a night & day experience when compared with the only other VPN I’ve personally used, ExpressVPN.

I have to constantly reset my vpn location so it will work. every couple of hours I have change my vpn Location so it will work it’s almost like it times out ie I'll change it to Perth australia use it all day and it’s fine for 12 or so hours then it’s almost like it’s timed out it won’t load any sites or refresh but then I go into the app and change it to say brisbane australia it works fine again everything else about the vpn works great it’s just that it’s annoying

Dodgy company. Unhelpful and dishonest. Buyers beware. Impossible to cancel after you sign up for feee trial. They promised to refund my 1 month trial but impossible to do. Useless support. Despite my multiple pleas to have my service cancelled and have my money refunded but to no avail. I have emails to proof. Each time they completely brush me off. They make it really difficult for you. I am still waiting for my money. Thankfully I only paid for a months “free” trial.

“CleanWeb” function needs work. I know blocking trackers and ads is not the main function of a vpn, however, considering iOS wide blocking requires a pseudo vpn like Adguard or TulaByte, I think surfshark’s “cleanweb’ function needs to be improved otherwise you have to choose between using surfshark’s vpn and getting ads or using something like adguard blocker without a vpn. You could buy Adguard’s vpn service but it’s not as good as surfshark. To improve “CleanWeb” Surfshark could make it customisable so you could configure blocklists.

Worst thing I’ve paid for. Honestly I don’t understand what everyone raves about with this product. Paid for 2 years worth + all it did was block my internet, slow my internet or not allow me to connect with other devices. I had to keep constantly turning it off + then bam everything would work again. I wrote to them about it + they did nothing so definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Need to update and stay ahead of VPN blocking streamers. Really easy to use and straightforward. Unfortunately I spent almost two-hours on a support chat to find a workaround for a streaming app that has a VPN blocker. There wasn’t a solution in the support staff’s box of tricks. This needs to be addressed, as this is the purpose of a VPN - to use apps and access internet. But using a VPN is redundant if there are blockers and I can’t use the apps (or need an over complicated troubleshoot to watch on a web browser). Keep ahead of the game and you get my fifth star. But you are a strong 3.5 - not quite 4.

Does not work for ESPN+ in USA. I purchased this to watch ESPN+ college Bball. It worked for a little bit and then stopped. I contacted Surfshark and they couldn’t solve the problem. Because it was past the 30 free trial they refused a refund even though their product does not work. I am now stuck with a two year subscription for something I can’t use. I’m sure it’s fine for other things but don’t waste your money if you want to watch ESPN+ in the US

Great VPN service. I love how simple and easy to use this VPN. I can bet this one requires the least steps to use. It's helped me a lot whenever I'm traveling or if I simply want to get deals from overseas sites or stream different countries' content on Netflix. It can auto-connect if you want which is great. One thing I wish they can improve is how much it drains the battery of the phone. Otherwise it's perfect

Simple to use and it works. After reading a number of reviews I decided to buy a 1 month subscription. As they offer, you buy one month and do not have to know how to unsubscribe. Unfortunately I could not get my Foxtel to work from the US which I think is more Foxtel getting better at blocking rather than the app not working. I tried another leading brand VPN N..D and they were a disaster. Unable to purchase 1 month from the app and had to connect to their site. Even then it was confusing and once subscribed, it was difficult to unsubscribe. I would recommend Surfshark

It just works. I use surfshark for general internet privacy and it doesn’t slow me down at all. I also use it for logging into other countries to use streaming services from japan [fabulous] and the US. It’s fast and its easy to use. Mostly though it just works

Worst VPN ever. Having used Nord & Express VPN in the past and having absolutely no issues with them at all, I foolishly tried to cut costs by using Surfshark. The issues are endless, from locations being completely useless - Hong Kong puts me in the Philippines, for example… which, in the case of doing business is a world of difference. This happens with many other locations I attempt which often leaves me no choice but to just disconnect this VPN altogether. Worse still, it has now several times prevented iOS updates to the extent that it rendered my iPad useless for weeks and one iPhone had to be replaced after months of inability to update or access wifi at all. In the end the only thing that helped was a hard erase of the Surfshark app on that phone and then, suddenly, everything was working again (after wasted money on replacement phone, than you). I would not recommend Surfshark to my worst enemy, it’s one thing to waste money on a service that doesn’t deliver, but when that service actually causes serious issues that actually hinder the usability of your devices, that’s criminal.

Amazing Utility for Privacy Protection. I have been using Surfsark for almost 8 years now and I absolutely love how fast it is. Initially the app was not the best but over time it has improved significantly.

Websites. Its much better then previous vpn companies ive used. My only fault is that while using the vpn some websites wont allow me to use them, even using one in the same country. So i have to pause the vpn to access the website. Which defeats the purpose of using a vpn.

Easiest VPN to use.. The app is easy to use and makes me feel way more comfortable when browsing the internet. Honestly believe the least technologically savvy person could work this one out. Love it!

30 day refund - you’ll have to fight for it. I bought Surfshark but within a couple of days my partner told me we already had a paid VPN service I could be using. So I contacted Surfshark to request my refund, as I was within the 30 day period they advertise as ‘money back guaranteed’. Well. Every day now I wake up to a new, fake, customer service email cajoling and manipulating me with reasons why I should keep using their service. And every day I reply, simply asking for my refund. Still no sign of a refund. What’s to bet that they’ll string this out for the full 30 days and then claim my refund request is no longer valid? Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

Ummmm. So I started this free trial, it was working fine all is well until 5 days later. For some reason I couldn’t switch the VPN off It just kept switching back on instantly had to delete it.. the reason i turned it off(well tried) is because my wifi AND mobile data wasn’t working at all for a period of over 24h. After manually deleting this VPN I had no further issues with my wifi or data. This app is a bit sketchy. Also had to verify with any service of internet wether or not I was a bot and had suspicious internet trafficking on my phone, no idea but yeah. That’s my adventure with Surfshark VPN.

The worst VPN I used ever. Don’t buy it!!!Always have problems with the VPN connection. The Surfshark app is always fail to connect. I have to spend a lot of time to do the so call “manual connection”, but even the manual connection was broken last week! And the surfshark company never fix them! The only solution them provided is to try each IP address(hundreds of) every 24h!!! I’ve wasted several hours on it but non of them work! The customer service always copy and paste the Same email response!!! Never try to get problems resolved!!

BAD. I took out a subscription in 2020. Cancelled before it was due for renewal in 2021. Still got charged. Reported and confirmed cancellation. Got charged again in 2022 AND again just now 2023. Despite cancelling in 2021! Despite reporting them. Despite many many emails and even a couple of phone calls (international…at my cost!) After the first and second post cancellation charges I got some but not all money back. Nothing so far after 3rd. Don’t buy from this company!

Auto-Renew scam. Product works great and have been very happy with the service. However, the fact that you have to reach out to customer service to cancel auto-renew payment is ridiculous and clearly implemented this way to catch people out. Even if your credit card is expired, they can still deduct payment too.

Not practical. I constantly have to disconnect to have access to various websites that are perfectly legit

New to me. So far so good

Scam! Buyer be ware!. When signed up, it said that I had 7 days for trial. However, it charged one year subscription right away. I contacted Apple and they would not give me a refund! Don’t use this app! It’s a scam!

Doesn’t work in China. I tried the free-trial and the purchased two-year package. Surfshark worked wonders for the first 30 days. However, after the 30-day money-back guarantee period issues starts popping up for Chinese users due to restrictive network. I have to learn manual setup, IKEv2 and download another app called OpenVPN. A lot of learning put into Surfshark and about at least 4 hours trying to figure things out. Today none of their server is working from A-Z country, which include OpenVPN and IKEv2. It’s very frustrating when I don’t have connection when I am using a paid VPN service. I do not recommend anyone using Surfshark specifically if you need it in China.

Mostly works better than others. I’m about a year in on this and it still works better than Nord, Cyberghost, Pure, Tunnelbear and a few others I’ve tried but the IP ranges are getting tired now and I’m blocked on more sites as time goes by. I’m in Canada but I sometimes get better results using odd countries such as Albania et al, even on banking sites. I will say that it works great on our AppleTV devices for everything including IPTV. Cons: app updates stall and require a reboot on all devices.

blocked everywhere. internet basically unusable, pretty much any site won’t let you visit let alone login with the VPNs that they use

Works great on iOS and Windows. This is the best VPN I’ve found after trying many. It works fine, doesn’t cut off, and was a reasonable price for a two year subscription. 👍🏼

Ok but not much. Ok from time to time. Always have to disconnect manually and reconnect because internet not working for basic site like Google search. If I still have this problem when at my renewal I will switch for an other vpn service!

Block internet. VPN always block internet and I have to disconnect vpn to get back to internet. I’ve raised this problem to IT support and spent a month to try this and that and still no solution. They asked me to install another app to manual connect to Surfshark bahbahbah… man, I don’t expect so complicate to get on vpn. I only expect to click a button and get protection! Very regret to subscribe 3 years!!!!

Worst ever — Nightmare you don’t want end up with. Having used a number of others, only Shark always needs pause in order to gain access to as simple as Apple Store to update. YouTube, Google Translate, bank sites etc all must reach without it.

Essentiel. Comment des gens qui se branchent sur des réseaux publics peuvent-ils prendre de tels risques? Il faut être bien inconscient pour fonctionner sans la protection de Surfshark!

Not as good as it used to be!. Update. Have been using this for almost a year but am noticing an increasing number of retail; government; weather, and financial sites are denying me access while the vpn is on. Also a noticeable slow-down on some other sites. I now disconnect the service for all known retail and financial sites, and only use it for general web browsing, and You tube! Update November 2024. It’s getting worse! I’m in Canada so don’t know if this is a Canada-only problem, or global. All I can say to fellow Canadians is “ I regret buying this”.

Chews up my bandwidth. Bought a one year subscription after trial. Once 30 day guarantee was over this has chewed up all my bandwidth. I used to get 150. Now best at 40. Makes this completely unusable for me. DONT RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY!!!!

Kaleb. James

Not working in China. It took a long wait to connect in the past. It’s not working anymore recently.

Не работает в России!!! Don’t work in Russia!!!. Деньги на ветер

Can’t connect to vietnam ip. Can’t connect to vietnam ip

They Auto Renew and Do not let you cancel. They Auto Renew and Do not let you cancel. Their policy states something like by agreeing to use it, you agree to automatically renew it until cancelled. You can try to cancel the subscription but their support team won’t let you do it, and keep suggesting you try their other cool features instead

Not work in China. This VPN has very bad connection right now. You won’t have chance to feedback their developer in app because it will stuck on inside and keep loading loading loading until you turn off the app. I don’t know why so many good reviews online about this VPN but I personally don’t suggest it. Never work

Great Service (hoping for AppleTV app). I’ve been using Surfshark for a couple years now. Overall love the service, app gets updated often. Multiple connection types offered. Really hoping that an AppleTV compatible version is coming soon!

Blocks internet. Protects your data by preventing you from accessing the internet entirely. Same issue across all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro) over many months of use, reboots, settings changes, etc.

Not working in China after 1.5 months. I bought their one-year service on June 3, and now on July 29 it doesn’t work at all anymore. Even before, the connection was unstable too. Now that I want to request for a refund, Apple says I can’t do that anymore. So what can I do? Letting it expire in 10.5 more months with no use?

Not working stably. Once pass 30 days free trail, the connection is lost specific when you are using in Asia. Do not recommend if you are in Asia.

Doesn’t work for Netflix. This VPN has been quite disappointing and expensive. It doesn't work properly with Netflix, as it keeps showing results from my actual location, even though the VPN is set to a completely different one.

Scammers. Absolutely deceptive marketing and will not honour 30 day money back guarantee. Will hold on to your money at all costs, buyer beware

Doesn’t work in china. One of the worst vpns to use in china

Problems in china. Before, it worked once a week or something. Now it’s been so long. Quickly fix it.

Worst vpn ever. My 70usd subscription fee only makes it work for a month… worst vpn!

Not working in China. When do you guys could fix connection issues in China?

Go for this one!. First up, I didn’t download the app yesterday. In fact, I waited to write this review as I have been using Surfshark for the past 6 months. I am using them on my iPhone, iPad Pro, MBP, Smart TV & PS4. Their clients are, for the most part, but free and fairly reliable. Their VPN service is a solid A+ ( yes, I performed the DNS leak test and other tests myself). Also, customer support is a good B+. Software & clients are also a B+. Pro tip: Do not purchase subscription from their apps, use the desktop website, for some reason the prices are lower there. This is the VPN that won it for me out of ExpressVPN, Nord, Vyper & a bunch of other popular ones. They totally deserve this review. If you are on the edge, give them a shot!

iOS App drops connection always. There is definitely a problem with the iOS app. I had been in communication with their appalling “customer service” and “tech support” for weeks. They must have asked me to change settings in every possible combination three times over. I send them 10+ videos and in every video, using every suggested combination of settings the exact same thing happens; The VPN works great till eventually it just stops working. Nothing loads. Email, web pages, services are all stalled with no data transfer whatsoever. Then, I open SurfShark, disconnect from the server and instantly everything loads. I get notifications, emails load and web pages load. Their tech support and customer service never seemed to have any real intent or interest to help. Instead they seemed to be trying to keep me in a endless loop of emails to take no responsibility. IMO it’s a scam. The VPN service works just long enough to draw in customers and subscribers.

Doesn’t work in China. It’s nice and all but it doesn’t connect in China. It says “The VPN server did not respond”

not working in China. 在中国不好使, 还是要用nordvpn 图便宜买的这个 就好使 那么一天

Don’t recommend this app!. No matter which location I choose. None of them worked.

Firefox. Works great

Poor speed and connections. Two thirds of the time after connection is established, no data received, no emails, no website etc. closing the VPN connection restores emails, webpages, videos every thing. This VPN service is smoking mirrors

Poor connection. This VPN sometimes has poor connection which causes some Apps not to open. I constantly have to refresh the VPN.

Free trial is a scam. The “free” trial charges you 24.95 the minute you download the app. It also doesn’t work. Thanks for wasting my time and stealing my money.

Sucks!. Do not use it if you are in China. Worst VPN experience! Paid for 2 years subscription. They refused to refund despite no services in China!

Not working at all on Netflix. The only reason why I paid for this vpn was Netflix. I paid more than 100 CAD last month and it had been working properly for few weeks, but it has not working at all from last week.

consistently……Perfect !. Wether i’m at home watching a geo blocked netflix show, or downloading torrents. Or using Surfshark to bypass a public wi-fi that doesn’t allow access to social media sites.(the hospital i work at. jokes on the cheap admin cause i’m on fb and watching youtube lol) Or if i’m traveling in south america,or on public wi-fi wanting to stay safe, even to block my isp from spying. this app does it all. All the time. Flawlessly.

Worst app ever. I pay for subscription but I am not able to use the service when im in China. When i try contact to service team the request dont go through either as it always said failed to create ticket. When i try to share with other device also nothing worked. The app also messes up my phone wifi connection. I WANT THIS ISSUE FIX OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!

Slow. I switched from a major VPN as they charged 4x the amount of the previous cost without notice. I now have SurfShark on all my devices and find it slow, like 5-10 seconds for photos to load on my iPhone. Shades of dialup lol. Does not matter whether on cell or from home modem, is still slow.

Thanks a lot. I really need protection in all my devices. Thanks

Purchase. Why can’t I purchase less on the app

Great App, Great Customer Support. Easily the most impressive app I've downloaded and used on all of my various devices. Not only does the app work incredibly well as a VPN, but the added bonus of the included anti-virus, identity monitoring, identity spoofing are awesome free bonuses! However even more impressive than the app itself is the superior customer support offered to their users. Far too many apps are happy to take your money and as soon as you have an issue, it's as if they do not exist... Not SurfShark - they are there 24/7 to help solve any issue you experience. Honestly, if you are not using SurfShark then you are doing yourself, and your devices, a huge disservice. Do yourself a favour, purchase this app and enjoy the extra peace of mind it will give you, and the protection it will add to all of your devices! *** I am in no way affiliated with SurfShark, nor have I been offered or received any kind of remuneration for my post ***

It stopped working. I subscribed for a year and everything was perfect until it wasn’t… the first months works great … I could connect successfully to any platform with the vpn but now all the apps recognize I’m connected to a vpn and cannot see any content. Also I’ve been scammed to my bank account and it’s supposed to be safer … I HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND THIS VPN

Very good. Can be a bit slow at times, but the offerings are pretty great. VPN tunneling is an amazing option.

No regrets yet. Little soon to be popping up a review since I just turned it on but I can say so far it been easy to use & hope it does what it’s suppose to do but really how would I know,I’m just taking their word for it.

Stops All Data Functionality. Twice on a longer trip abroad to remote locales, this VPN has stopped all data functionality on my phone. On the first instance, it took me nearly 48 hours to figure out why I could not send or receive any data. And to my recollection, I had not connected to the VPN. But when I opened Surfshark, it was “connected.” When I disconnected I finally had data on my phone again. I was in a country with questionable sim capabilities and so it took an extra long time to figure out it wasn’t an external problem but rather the VPN wasn’t properly transmitting data. The second time I figured it out more quickly, but it still took me 5ish hours to realize the VPN was preventing any data from up or downloading. While I like the functionality when needed, this is a huge problem for me and had me debating deleting the app from my phones all together.

Strange Access. Experiencing strange access situations. Today, it wouldn’t allow access to my email accounts on my iPhone; yesterday, Apps normally used wouldn’t open until I shutdown the Surfshark VPN. Access to my car and bank accounts won’t open until I dismiss Surfshark. Depends on different days that access to most used registered apps or internet sites vary whether I get access or not. No consistency at all. Surfshark is good overall but a time buster when I need access to my most used apps or registered accounts. Becoming annoying and needs to be able to determine which accounts or registered apps I use. Otherwise, I’m spending way too much time turning Surfshark off and on again. Fix this soon.

Great but logs you out and doesn’t tell you!!. I really love Surfshark because it’s the best VPN I’ve tried, and I’ve tried many (NORD, TunnelBear..) however the app has a habit of logging you out for no reason and then not telling you! It’s not until I open the app or happen to notice “VPN” isn’t on the top of my phone that I realize I need to log in again. This poses a major security threat as I always have Surfshark running and when this happens I wonder how long my activity has been unprotected. Please fix this issue because otherwise I’ll continue to be a long term user. Aside from this, Surfshark is quick to connect, doesn’t usually disconnect (it can get testy) and gets you access to content in other countries. I highly recommend Surfshark as it’s the most efficient and cheapest VPN I’ve found.

Bypasser makes this perfect. I have a few apps and websites that have issues while using the VPN. I’ve been a surfshark user for years and have been frustrated and disappointed that whole time that I could not list some specific domains and urls to be whitelisted. The recent addition of bypasser has me overjoyed. I can now use the few services that gave me issues before without having to setup automations that try to pause it and resume it when I open or close apps but while only being able to use a specific protocol. Thank you. Thank you for listening and for building this in. Easy 5 stars now.

Great app, some add'l power drain. Generally nicer interface than the PIA app. Has the occasional connection problem and the connection can get "stuck" where it shows connected, but data isn't flowing, but so can PIA. Automation generally works, but suffers these broken-VPN situations quite often. It adds to power drain, though much less than it used to (if they didn't fix something on their side or in the app, I can't explain it). The "automation" *mostly* works, the "mostly" part detracting significantly from the warm fuzzy feeling. The service is generally ok, the lack of port forwarding should keep the torrent crowd away, which should result in lower costs (savings, if real, are not passed on to their customers).

Don’t waste your money—takes several minutes for a poor connection. First—more importantly—thank you for standing with Ukraine. Now the product review. Worked great the first month. Now I can’t even read a Washington Post article. I’m a US citizen who travels outside the US, Surfshark never successfully cloaks to be able to access sites I could access in the US, some that I pay for but can’t access outside the US when traveling. It takes forever to connect despite having solid internet connections, 3 or more failed attempts, I have to keep tryin to find a connection. I also wanted to use it as protection, but many sites see it as a VPN and won’t allow me access unless I disable it. Also slows my connection down dramatically, often to the point I have to disconnect because it’s so bogged down. Can’t use it for any of the reasons I paid for the subscription. Wasted my money, deleted the app.

App logs out randomly, won't log back in when in need. I live and work in the United States, but have travelled to Iran for two weeks. I bought the surfshark to be able to bypass the country's strict restrictions and filters on accessing services/ social media across the web. Unfortunately the app randomly signs out of the devices in use and can't sign in again [error message: login not available right now, contact support.] Support suggested manual login which was useless as well. Poor choices for sign in period (how many times did you have to re-sign in to your gmail or netflix account on you mobile phone the past year? How about 0?) Poor support when really in need. This has been a waste of time and money and I am very disappointed by the poor design of the app. Gonna cancel my subscription right away.

Connection problems on iPhone and fire stick.. I used this vpn because it had really good reviews for its connection and, plus a built in ad blocker. On my iPhone, it takes 2 to 3 times to connect the vpn. When I connect and try to google I get blocked and have to verify with google that I’m not a “robot”. I never had that problem with Express vpn or Adguard. On firestick the auto connection is wonky. I have to disconnect and go into settings to force stop and clear cache so it can get back running again. The speed is good but sometimes I find myself going into the app and connecting to the fasted location even though I have that automatically set. It’s a good vpn, but for me, I prefer a vpn that I don’t have to tinker with once or twice a day.

Total crap. They’ve updated version several times recently, and each version gets worse! I paid for something that I pretty much have to keep turning off constantly as the only websites that seem to work with it on are Facebook and Yahoo. and even then, not always and completely. with this latest update, now I’m getting messages from websites that say pretty much that I’m a suspected hacker – sorry if my terminology is right but basically when I try to use the website I look like internet poison . As far as I’m concerned, this app is a complete scam which is frustrating enough, but when you’re on a limited income, you can’t afford to throw money away like this. SurfShark came highly recommended but I have a hunch the person recommending it had not actually been using it for long.

Do not sign up with using your Apple Pay!!!!!!. Do not sign up with using your Apple Pay!!!!!! Because if you do you might spend 3 hours like me trying to cancel the so called “free” trial. Because I signed up using Apple Pay, it asked me if I would like to block my email from the company, which I agreed to. Now trying to cancel the trial, it’s asking for my password - which I never set one up to begin with. So then it prompts me to reset password and it will email a link, however I’m not getting the link to reset. Reached out to the company via live chat since there is no customer service number and they told me I would have to pay for the service before they could update my email. In other words there is no “FREE” trial if you sign up for the app with your Apple ID. Poor customer support and overpriced services.

120 dollar mistake. It was absolutely the worst vpn I’ve used. Couldn’t get on any sites, blocked apps from opening or being used and just slowed everything down to a snails pace. DO NOT USE SURFSHARK! IT IS JUST A WASTE OF MONEY! I tried to do a refund but was a day out of the return window, I lost track of days due to a family emergency, and the person on the chat said they would pass it along to a senior manager and they would email me in a few hours. Well 5 days go by, I contact the chat again and then finally get a manager to email and I get “It too many days outside of the window at this point”. Yes I was a day late, but the Surfshark employee decided to not do as he told me he would. It honestly felt like he meant to do it that way, so they wouldn’t have to refund me anything. 120 mistake and lesson learned. NEVER USE SURFSHARK!

It works, but it’s very inconvenient.. Surfshark does a great job at being a VPN in the simplest of terms - it reroutes your activity through a virtual private network. Yes, it does that well. However, when I use it, I can’t click on websites on Instagram, and google makes me fill out an “I am not a robot” every time I have the VPN on to google something. This may sound minor, but it is extremely annoying to have to fill that out every time you want to quick google something. In the end, I often just turn off my VPN, which defeats the point of it. The support service is great, but unfortunately, I think the problems are past what customer support can help with. Also, the VPN sometimes prevents my apps from loading at all. I will be switching to another VPN once my membership with surfshark is expired.

Update your garbage. This VPN for whatever reason will allow whatever service your accessing to occasionally read your actual ip kicking you off and and in 2 cases now has actually banned me from said services. When you live somewhere that doesn’t get all the apps/services everyone else might, a VPN is your only option and this one is just garbage at what it does. If your considering a VPN for gaming or video streaming look elsewhere if you don’t want your accounts being banned or needing to restart a game every 10 minutes. And I had a premium subscription as well if that’s how much they care about their premium service then this is just an obvious scam from what I’ve seen. This isn’t an issue (atleast the banning) I’ve encountered with any other VPN service so this is an issue stemming from their garbage system.

CA,USA.. I had been eyeing VPN for a long time and after years of debate I got one. I love watching different shows and Kdrama so I got VPN thinking it was going to open up many more shows on different platforms but turns out all the apps can track that you’re using them so if you do get on it (Netflix you can’t even open the app). I’m beyond disappointed because everyone talks about it of being this thing that’s supposed to just be able to use but you’re just wasting money. I live in CA so it could be different for everyone since many people said it worked for them. It doesn’t not work for me one any device. Google, Netflix, Disney+, Max, VIKI, Prime(it doesn’t change),YouTube, and Safari doesn’t work. I hope this helps for someone that might live in CA and thinking about getting them. I still have two years to go before I can cancel.

Disappointed. Why do I have to do all of the work? Bypasser isn’t available for iOS because iOS doesn’t support split-tunneling, but you won’t just come out and say that. Your Pause VPN feature isn’t available for all protocols on iOS for some unknown reason - it isn’t available for IKEV2 that I was using on my mobile devices, but I researched and figured out on my own that it is available for WireGuard. In addition, you make us contact support to disable auto-pay for our accounts, but you conveniently allow us to turn it back on ourselves in our online accounts. You need to be upfront and honest about the details of your features and also allow us to manage our own auto-pay settings through our online accounts. I find your current mode of operation extremely shady and I’ll be researching alternatives because I don’t have a good feeling about your business practices.

Customer service questionable. I’ve tried to set up an account several times with this VPN and keep getting a message bad email address or password. However, it will only let me set up through my Apple account which I do not want to do. Because I need to pay this with my business credit card. I’ve tried several times to use their contact form. But it appears to be some ignorant AI that’s been developed and gives you no information that you need. If the start up process is this bad and customer service is even worse, tells me I need to go to another VPN provider..

Terrible App. Surfshark caused connectivity on my iPhone 12 to stop working. Despite hours of effort over numerous months Surfshark could not resolve the issue. Apple was able to locate the problem and recommended that I remove the App. Once the app was removed my iPhone worked perfectly again. If I reinstall the app my phone stops working within a few days. I also tried to use the browser version on my Macbook with Firefox and Safari. Surfshark caused the internet to slow dramatically and some websites won’t open. Unfortunately, my experience was really bad. I recommend you stay away from this VPN. Update: the developer responded to my initial review requesting I reach out. I did reach out and unfortunately, this was a hollow offer. Once he actually reviewed the case he acknowledged nothing could be done and tried to rewrite the chain of events and blame me for the issues. Unfortunately a waste of time.

VPN for China. If you are planning on living in China and need a reliable VPN, then you have found it with Surfshark! I personally paid for an entire year of Express before I moved to China and it was horrible. Constantly disconnecting, not loading even when connected, and then flat out not connecting in the first place. I went weeks without a vpn because Express wouldn’t work. Finally I tried Surfshark and it has worked like a dream for my phone and iPad. Plus it is HALF THE PRICE of express and most other VPN providers. After signing up for a one month subscription I was offered a year for a ridiculously low price. I love this VPN and I’m so glad I have it while I’m living in China.

Worst and least secure VPN. The number of positive reviews for this VPN is astounding given that it is among the least secure and slowest of any VPN I have ever used, and the company is clearly run by morally bankrupt individuals. Anyone subscribing to this junk service needs to know that auto renewal cannot be turned off, and renewal is basically forced on you unless you call or chat with customer service, which is a waste of time designed to convince you to stay. SurfShark needs to engage in these anti-consumer immoral tactics because no few people would voluntarily renew. As far as their VPN, it does not matter whether the server you pick is in your own state or 10,000 miles away; the connection is always absurdly slow. In addition, many websites do not work at all regardless of the server. Google is constantly flagging the connection as a possible security risk, and many websites deny access altogether. Not a good sign. KillSwitch has been in beta for years. It never works, and even after you turn it off it constantly warns that it could not be turned off. Security is another problem. SurfShark automatically installs a self-signed trusted root certificates without informing the user and obtainign consent.

What a Nightmare ….. I travel a fare amount, a website I watch promoted this (forgive me if I do not use the name, it is so irritating). It is always interfering with Google searches and other commonly used sites. Two weekends a month all my phone can do is tell me the time of day because nothing will work. And it is the biggest power user draining my battery!!!! We all know how important that is. When you are trying to use your GPS in a foreign city and your phones power goes from 70 …. to 30 in about 30 minutes you will understand. I have complained so much to the company that they have blocked my messsges, and I have never once used profanity or compared a part of their bodies, above their neck, to a part on a farm animals body where the sun does not normally hit. I would give them a 1/2 star or less but I cannot publish this review without giving them one star.

Poor performance, unbelievable pain to cancel.. I had a paid version in the form of 24 + 3 bonus months since it seemed like the most reasonable offering at the time. It just isn’t reliably compatible with the majority of websites. When it is working, performance bandwidth/lag is very limiting. They’ve made it an absolute nightmare to cancel the auto renewal for a refund and continually go back into a loop of asking why I want to cancel. It’s been so miserable to complete a simple task with Surfshart that I’m switching providers, steering friends away, and writing this review to warn others. I’ve contacted them multiple times requesting a refund and am still getting cheeky unprofessional responses saying I’ll “get a refund eventually”. Repeatedly try to ask new questions and delay having to refund my unused balance. Complete and total scam.

Doesn’t do anything. This VPN has a nice interface and works with virtually all Apple devices. Unfortunately, when you are traveling and try to access US streaming services like Peacock or a US web page to purchase something, they somehow immediately can see that you are not in the country. Even your own Google starts behaving differently, endlessly asking you to verify if you are not a robot etc, Than what was the point of having this VPN? My Mac was visibly slow with this app working. First I deleted it from the computer and then cancelled the subscription completely. It takes like 20 steps and confirmations and at least 2 full logins to cancel the account, very predatory and annoying. I do not recommending this VPN to anyone. It just doesn’t do what you expect from a VPN and the pages detect it right away.

Doesn’t play well with other security apps. I use an iPhone 6s (iOS 14.7) and surfshark is passable but annoying to use. For starters it likes to have trouble connecting to servers and will take 30+ seconds to connect sometimes. It would constantly drop the connection and have to reconnect while I sit there staring at my phone waiting. When I introduced adguard ad blocker with it just would not work well at all with this and would constantly shut off and/or shut off my dns protection. I tried other ad block apps and it was just a mess with all of them. This most recent update made it almost unusable on my phone so I switched to another vpn. Maybe it’ll work better on an up to date iOS but if you’re running an old os like me I would try another service

Super Easy to Use. I’d been meaning to look into getting a VPN for a while, but was nervous about what might be involved, as I had only used my work one before. Read good reviews online and liked the pricing, so decided to try SurfShark. Found it really user friendly to install and use - I have it on my laptop and phone and it runs seamlessly (and automatically) in the background. Simple to change location if wanted - most recently I changed to a server on the west coast while searching for flights on the east coast and landed a great deal by keeping my searches separate from booking.

Great service but so-so app. This review is about the app, not the service. The service is phenomenal so far. The app leaves quite a bit to be desired. It isn’t as feature packed as others. Some of the “features” have an information icon explaining what they are and what they do, and some do not. There’s no option to change encryption/handshake levels. Having said all of that, I am able to leave the VPN running in the background all day. It barely drains the battery. It has little to no impact on internet speeds. I honestly don’t even realize it’s there. If they can improve the app, i think SurfShark will be a fan favorite.

App Glitch Cost Me Money I Don’t Have. Somehow the last year my account was active but the app kept telling me that my account wasn’t active when I would sign in. I guess this was an issue I never learned about and my account was active all of 2024 but I assumed it had been canceled when it was supposed to be in October 2023. Long story short, I don’t have a job and I’m dealing with health issues this year making it difficult to work and support myself. Surfshark let me know that there was nothing they could do for the issue, which at this point doesn’t matter because my whole life is a mess. But I just thought I’d let others know that you could essentially be being scammed because of technical issues. I wish I could’ve been better to keep track of this but I don’t know what to do.

I love Surfshark! They are the best!. I just wanted to start this by thanking Surfshark for their latest update today. They addressed every issue I had in one fell swoop. Especially the stortcuts app. I have Surfshark one and use it on my Pc as well the only feedback I can give is to please add some kind of firewall to the antivirus itself and I’ll probably have no more quarrels with anything else and be a customer for life at this point. I’m very pleased with Surfshark one I use every feature to great extent with pleasure. Speeds are great and Security is amazing once firewall is there I have nothing more to ask for. Thanks again for being such a great company!

A good service. Hope it continues to improve.. For what it is, it's decent. Does the job, and does it better than a lot of the other VPNs out there. Not exactly the best, but one of. And I know that through the reports of third party testers; feel free to do your own research. However, I would like improvements on better, faster, just as safe encoding so as to not be so taxing on the network speed of my devices. And also the app drains a significant amount of battery in the background throughout the day. Looking back on my battery data, at all times it is responsible for around 20% of the total power draw at any moment. That is not to say it drains 20% of total battery through the day, but still. Improvements can always be made, so keep making them and I will keep paying you. Thank you.

Huge battery drain. This app is a huge battery drain. It rounds out about 19-24% of my battery life on a daily basis. For a while I couldn’t figure out what was going on because my battery would reach critical levels without huge activity by just after mid day. This was odd given, under normal usage, I would not need to recharge until around the evening some time. As I dug into it, I realized Surfshark hogs my battery life at an unreal level. While it provides decent speeds through the VPN, it’s not useful if the VPN robs your battery so you cannot make use of the very thing that it’s supposed to be protecting. I do hit occasional snags with websites as well. Granted I can usually solve it by switching VPNs but I just want to point out that it’s not flawless. One positive aspect is that out of the other two VPNs I have tried, Surfshark tends to have better connectivity. When using prime video with the other two well known VPNs, I could never get prime to connect. However I am able to get it to connect about 95% of the time with Surfshark. But again, how useful is it if I am limited to 20% less usage of my device? And this hogs the battery even while not actively using my device. It just cycles in the background draining the battery. Very frustrating

Surfing the internet made easy. There are so many features of this app that makes me love it. I have been using VPNs for years and I just didn’t know this type of VPN existed. It helps with other apps to ensure you get their best features. I really like that you can hit the “pause” feature and decide in advance how long you want to pause your VPN protection knowing that it will automatically resume at that time if you forget to restart it. I am delighted with the fact that when you do start it up, you get full a picture of what your IP address is and what others see about you before it connects. For the price it just can’t be beat!

Best affordable VPN. As far as a VPN goes, I can’t really complain. The cost per month is quite cheap, particularly when you buy two years worth of service. I don’t use torrents or download large files so the performance is far better than I need for day to day use. We stream Netflix and Disney+ quite regularly, and I noticed no performance issues. I think a VPN is vitally important on your mobile device as we all connect to public Wi-Fi multiple times throughout the day. No reason to leave yourself exposed to cybercrime when an app like this can prevent it and it’s cheap. Nice job!

Question. In the what’s new section it says that I can purchase Surfshark One on iOS now but when I click the 1 icon inside the app it doesn’t give me an option to buy it but takes me to your website and asks me to log in using the in app browser? Is this a feature that will be added and the wrong update notes were used or is it that One isn’t avaible unless bought through your site. Love your service so I’ve been waiting for this to come to Mac and iPhone & I really want virus protection that comes from a name I trust such as Surfshark. I know due to sandbox on iPhone it’s not able to be implemented on iPhone but will it work for MacOS

A great VPN App. I've been using Surfshark's VPN and incogniti app for a few years now. I like the idea that my VPN can auto load to the quickest service available but also can load anywhere in the world if I either choose as default or just quick connect to wherever I want. It helps with many things like using local languages or services when wanting to watch streaming videos or just places to see and do if I plan to travel. The customer support has always been great with no more than a day delay in responding- if that. The incogniti app helps with scrubbing my personal information off dark web and data collection houses. We have yet to get them all but I've had over 80 sites remove my personal information and the services keeps track of how many reached out to, how many removed and how many left to go. I get a quarterly update on my dashboard and appreciate the time saved from me doing this myself. I highly recommend this app.

Was Good, Now Terrible. I bought a 24 month VPN only plan and declined the added SurfShark One upgrade (protected search and alerts). For about 7 months, I didn’t have any issues (aside from occasionally slower speeds). However, they offered discounted SurfShark One, and I upgraded, and I hate it every day. I live in the US, but all the sponsored content (news, ads, etc) I see when my VPN (connected to the Boston server) is connected is for Australia. This wouldn’t be an issue but when I connect to sites, I’m sent to the Australian site and not US and it’s often difficult to change it to US. I have contacted support multiple times, and each time I was told “well if you connect to the Australian server, you’ll see Australian content, that’s how a VPN works,” and when I point out I’m connected to the Boston server, they are totally lost. I have been told to delete and reinstall the app, change each of my settings within the app, manually entering new configurations, reset my networks on my phone, delete my browser cookies, and nothing works. Once my subscription ends, I’m moving to NordVPN. It’s slightly more money but I haven’t heard of them having any of the issues I’m seeing SurfShark is experiencing.

CleanWeb barely works anymore. First, I have to say that VPN provided by SurfShark is as good as any VPN. I love that I can connect through a server in almost any area to access geo-restricted content. When I first started using this app about two years ago, CleanWeb would block almost all ads and pop-ups, whether on a browser or in an app. These days, it appears to do almost nothing. Ads pop up constantly. Banners, interstitial ads, you name it. Doesn’t matter what browser I’m using, or what app I’m using. As this was a big selling point when I subscribed, I feel no effort has been put in to keep this feature current and effective. If CleanWeb would start functioning again, will upgrade to five stars.

App is frustrating. The VPN service itself works fine. The app.. does not. Surfshark app nearly always struggles to actually connect to vpn, unless I reset vpn profile. This works for a short period, then I have to reset the profile again. If I move over to competitor app, it always connects straight away. If I use a third party app and a Surfshark config, it always works right away… unfortunately with that method I do not have easy access to all Surfshark servers and it is limited to the server I put in the config. very frustrating. Over 5 years with competitor app and never once had to reset vpn profile, however had the issue immediately with Surfshark. I will keep the service, but I do not use the app

Works, but blocks too many apps. Bought the service to use during a trip to England and in the United States after returning home. The app seems to work too well for me in that it blocks several apps I have installed on my iPhone, and use frequently. It also will not load a website when linking to a search result in the Firefox browser. There is a feedback method in the app, but I still encounter these issues even after reporting them. I was constantly having to suspend the VPN to do tasks that in my opinion should not have been blocked, and eventually I just turned the VPN off. On the other hand, my husband has had fewer issues, but we will not be renewing the subscription.

Far Superior to Other VPN Providers. If you are on the fence about which VPN to use, don’t waste another minute and make the move! Hands down in every way head and shoulders above the rest and I have spent a lot of money trying most of them (big name companies and small alike). This service actually does what it says it will do and the feature I like the most (and adds a truckload of safety) is the changing IP address. It changes automatically every three or four minutes! On its own and does not disrupt anything I’m working on. Surfshark thank you for making an excellent product I only regret not signing up sooner!

DeadShark - Bad Hijacking App!. 29 Dec 2024: Well, I thought I had finally found a decent VPN provider and opted for a 2 year subscription with a trial period. I was TOTALLY WRONG. The app when installed on an iPad Pro 12.9” Gen 3 as well as Gen 5 both of which are on iPadOS 18.3, and it hijacks your settings never allowing you to turn it on or off at will. It is connected when the switches or off, the main switch in settings never allows you to turn it off. When slid off, it just turns around and skids to the back on position. It is a huge PITA! Furthermore, it blocks valid and safe websites that I need to be able to get to even when and if it says disconnected, which is rare. Two days into this, I am terminating the subscription. What a waste of time. 05 Jan 2025: I did receive a response through Apple from SurfShark VPN. If my issues with this app were isolated to one device then I would tend to lean towards settings; but, the issues are on multiple iPads leading me to believe there are bugs in the app itself. The sluggish or response and inability to connect to credible websites was just too much to warrant pursuing fixes in tandem with SurfShark. So, I am not going to upgrade my assessment or reconsider the app especially with all of the other negative reviews which I should have read before even trialing the app.

Rogue Company. After I canceled the auto-renewal subscription, my bank account was still deducted monthly. I have never logged into my account or connected to VPN since I canceled the service. When I contacted customer service after I found out that I was deducted, they said that other customers had made this mistake before, but then they refused to refund the money. They changed their statement and said that they could not prove that I did not restart the service myself, and it would take several months to investigate. Then they tricked me into clicking a link. After clicking the operation, my account disappeared completely, and the call I was chatting in the middle of was also popped up and could not be recorded. I am now filing a complaint through the BBB. It is a scam company. If you don't want to waste your time, please don't try it.

BEWARE: If you cancel the service, DELETE the app!!. At midnight the day AFTER the trial expired the app turned on a VPN to “nowhere”. It put a VPN icon in my Settings right under the Personal Hotspot setting icon - the VPN icon was supposed to ONLY be in my General -> General Settings -> VPN & Device Management settings folder. I say the VPN was to “nowhere” because there was no target address listed to connect to. I could not get on the internet on my home network or on my cellular provider network. I went into Settings to turn the VPN off but when I slide the VPN button off it would automatically reconnect to “nowhere”. After deleting the app the VPN icon under Settings disappeared. Going to do some digging to see what else this application did to my phone. From my experience, I would recommend against using this VPN application.

The worse vpn service ever. Let me start with saying I have two paid for accounts one for a year and a second for 2 years(which I did not ask for but got when I tried adding vpn to a second device I have set up under a separate gmail account) both paid up front in full. My account and device was taken over by somebody using auth 0 and the very open source liscence that surf shark provides. Now I have no device that is truley mine. Everything I do is monitored and parented by so called ethical hackers. And surfshark who’s watch all of this happened on will do nothing about don’t even get to use the 3 years of subscriptions that I paid for. Do the math folks before buying or subscribing for anything from this band of incompetent thieves. I’m calling you out here and now surfshark. show us all your to true colors make it right or or I will continue this motion a thousand times over on any media available.

Easy to use & reliable. I've spent a good amount of time researching VPNs and I'm very happy w Surfshark-- the unlimited devices is fantastic, especially given other comparable VPNs don't offer it, the app + additional features are great, and it's always easy to use. The only slightly frustrating thing is that sometimes my signal will get very slow or stop working and I have to go reconnect in the app to get it back up to speed. It only takes a minute and when I reconnect (often to the same server) the issue goes away, but it can be annoying when it happens ~every other day. Otherwise thrilled with the price and service and I don't expect to switch any time soon.

Couldn’t find a way to cancel. I got this app based on the positive reviews. I got the VPN and within a couple of days, I had to start verifying I wasn’t a bit every time I went to a website. I looked for info on how to cancel and couldn’t find it in the app. Finally found contact info on line and emailed them. Was informed it was too late, but they did cancel my automatic renewal. And they told me to change servers and that would correct the constant check to make sure I wasn’t a bot. So, I changed servers and still within 5 minutes of using, back to verifying and clicking pictures every time I visit a site. So, I’ve lost my money and deleted the app. Went with AVG. I haven’t used it long enough to know if it is better at protection, but at least when I go to a site, I don’t have to go through verification I’m not a bot.
