Veggie Garden Planner Comments & Reviews 2026
Easy and useful but.... I love how easy and useful this app is to use. But it’s set to USDA hardiness Zone 7 so the calendar and planting times they state in app are not useful to me. But everything else is. I wish there was a way to change your hardiness Zone but it’s a minimal nuisance. There’s many resources to figure out what Zone you’re in and then the back of a seed packet will tell you when to plant the seed. I especially love the visual garden planning features. It’s been so helpful. And that I can add in my own vegetables or fruit.
Needs adjustable zones, even if they’re locked behind a paywall. I bought the upgrade to the list of vegetables and while I’m happy with my purchase (which was half off) it really, really needs adjustable zones to be useful for anyone outside of 7 and 8. I’m in 5b so most of the dates with planting and harvesting are off by up to a month. I like the feature that shows which plants can or can’t live next to each other, and the recent update that added more plants make me optimistic for the future, but adjustable zones are pretty much a need.
Needs more veggies and different zones. This app is great and is really useful but they need more veggies. I think the app also needs to have an option where you can change the zone. Zones determine when you should be planting a specific plant. Examples are like if you live in Florida , your zone is very different than if you live in Michigan and why you may plant in Florida in December you cannot plant in Michigan in December. I think that would be a key feature to add to this app but overall really helpful
Needs more veggies, plot options & zones. Not even a single squash on the list, we’ll...squash family but not winter or summer squash options. Can’t change the zone. Works great if you’re in....Seattle I think? Limited veggies, strawberry the only fruit. Only allows one big plot, not the option for multiple (like most raised beds) so you have to save each bed individually. Partially my fault for purchasing without digging into it much but at least it was a good price. Like the beneficial/harmful options for companion planting.
Some improvements but all in all. You can add your own veggies - you just need to look up the info and import a pic if you want some obscure rare vegetable that no one actually ever will eat because kids don’t like new things no matter how much effort you put into growing them. You can add paths to plot things out by shape to be creative because you only get a tiny bit of spot that you need to rope off to keep said kids and the dog out of the only patch of sun you can find. It gives you recommendations for space needed for each veggie so your potatoes don’t grow into the roots of the celery (to detractors this is why you can’t change the space the veggies take up) and it has most of the veggies I need - read: the ones these kids eat anyway. A wish list: If I could just slide the calendars for growing zones it would be helpful - just shift the months over maybe. If I could add circles for container plants like tomatoes.
Could have more variety. As a first time gardener I love this app. Super easy and simple for me to use and not an overload of information for my brain haha. Any details on certain plants I am fine with looking elsewhere. Although I do wish they had more variety of vegetables. A lot of the veggies in growing aren't listed.
Device sharing. I do love this app. It is compatible with my zone and has the things i plant. However, unless i just can’t figure it out, I’m not a fan of not being able to use it on my iPad and my iPhone. If it would sync between devices that would be great. I definitely think it could use a few improvements and it would be perfect!
Lack-luster App, Read this before purchase.. **READ BEFORE PURCHASE** This app has potential but it seems as if the developers just threw it together. First off, when you download and pay for the app, you have to pay for different aspects of the app or else it will be useless. This seems like a sneaky way of getting customers to pay more for the app, multiple times. There is only a small list of vegetables to choose from and the developers curiously omitted some popular vegetables. You can add plants but you have to do your own research to add them which kind of defeats the purpose. Additionally, for some reason parts of the app are in German! You can create your own garden bed but it must be perfectly square. If you have a different shaped bed, you cannot use the plotting feature. When plotting the plants, the type of plant is in such a small font that you cannot see it without zooming in. This is annoying when trying to see the big picture. Often times when zooming or scrolling through the plot you end up accidentally moving the plants around. You cannot scroll all the way down either, the bottom of the screen is cut-off which is very frustrating. The only positive is the ability to quickly figure out companion plants. If I had to do it again I would definitely not purchase I wish I read the comments before. Save your money until they put some effort into the app but it doesn’t seem likely because the same complaints have been present for years.
Works well for me. I’ve been using this app for several years. I’ve got the full package, and use it to plan my layouts every spring. Let me tell you that I’ve never experienced any of the issues a lot of you are complaining about. It’s all in English. I’ve never seen this German that some are complaining about. You can add plants not on the list, and have multiple varieties of the same plants. There’s a whole lot more that everyone is complaining about that are user issues, not software issues. The only issue I’ve seen that I can understand why some people are complaining about is not being able change the zone. I happen to live in 7b, so it applies to me. But there’s tons of potential users that live outside of 7-8. Surely that’s not rocket science to add it.
Not bad but could use a few simple imorovements.. I have used garden planner for $30/year for the last few years and wanted something IOS based instead. This app is pretty good for basic needs but could use a transplanting date guide. Also interested to see if it shows planting guidance to avoid disease from planting the same thing in the same spot the following year.
Disappointed. Love the idea and several features , BUT! - I live in zone 6A and would like an option to change planting times for your zone - I am working on designing a greenhouse with several beds in it and want to be able to have more than one bed visible on my plant patch at a time. I would also like the size template for garden beds to have feet and inches instead of only feet, this is really limiting. These three things are making me look elsewhere for an app to plan my garden
Has real potential, but limiting. I’ve been using the app for a few weeks now, and it has great potential, hence the 3stars. Pretty easy to use and fair starter crop names. But...... 1) it would be nice to see the plan in it’s entirety, not just by section. And to be able to edit the sizes without having to create a whole new one. 2) more vegetables, herbs and companion plants would be nice. The list is too small. Yes you can add a custom plant, but library itself should be better for a paid app. 3) you have soil depletion data but not water needs? Or is that just a bad translation? 4) last but not least, you have a tiny disclaimer saying that zones are set to USDA 7-8..... and that users should adjust mentally accordingly. Really??? Bottom line...... lazy developer, decent app but unless revamped, will not be useful going forward.
So much potential!!!. I love the look of this app, I like the varieties of vegetation it offers in the library and the “list” feature that lets you drag and drop the veggies you want. However I’m a raised beds grower. I need to be able to add more than one garden. There’s another ap called “planter” that lets you have multiple beds but the look of the ap isn’t as good as this one however, that ap does have MUCH more info on the plants. Tells you how to grow them, when to plant them how to water companion plants, combative plants, possible pests and diseases etc all right there in the info sheet for each plant. You don’t have to go to a separate “neighbor” window like in this ap. Although I do like the little heart that appears when you place stuff near each other on this ap. Please please PLEASE take a look at the features in the “planter” ap and bring them to this one! I hate having to plan my garden on this ap and then jump over to the other ap whenever I need to know how to manage a plant. 1. This ap needs info cards like they have on the “planter” ap 2. This app NEEDS raised bed compatibility!!! I have 4 (4x4) raised beads, I need to be able to have 4 (4x4) gardens to work with in this ap.
Catalog. I downloaded and paid for the app. Missing some key veggies like Bell Peppers, sweet peppers, winter squash. Recommend adding all categories from a seed catalog. Will this be added into a version upgrade?? Would like to see companion flower pollinators go along with the veggies. Besides my suggestions, I like the option of creating multiple beds with dimensions and the heart (good) or lightning bolt (bad) display when dragging a veggie into the the bed. 3-stars because there is lots of room for improvements.
More plants. This has most of the plants people grow in home gardens, but it’s missing scallions and other herbs in it’s provided list. You can add plants via seed packet but if u are not sure where to find companion plant info you miss out on the helpful planning when it comes to the garden bed layout notifying you if a plant is too close to a plant it doesn’t like or not close enough to benefit from a companion
Great app, but missing one key feature!. The growing calendar is only for hardiness zone 7-8, which leaves out most of the US. If you could adjust your zone and the calendar would adjust accordingly, that would be great. Additionally, a more detailed calendar with notifications of when to plant/sow/transplant would be amazing. I’d definitely change this rating to 5 stars if the zone could be changed.
Frustrating. I can’t believe there’s only a handful of plants on this app. I purchased the full version thinking that I would “unlock” tons of different plants and be able to actually plan a garden where I live. Missing really simple things. For example “zucchini” is supposed to cover every type of squash that there is. Totally not friendly to customize. Agree with the other reviewers about not being able to read what’s on the planner anyway because it is so small, and you can’t zoom in without messing everything up, and the bottom part of it is cut off.
Small Plant Inventory, Waste of Time and Money. Do NOT spend ANY money for this app. They have an extremely limited list of plants (Fruits, Vegetables, Herbs). I paid $3.99 for the “Patch Planner” but I cannot even plan out my garden as it does not even have the majority of the very common garden plants that I am growing! Horrible app simply because of the extremely limited plant inventory. I want my money back! I am incredibly disappointed. This app is unusable without a proper inventory. I have a variety of over 35 types of common, everyday fruits, vegetables, and herbs in my garden and this app maybe covers 5 of them... it is absurd.
Sorry I Made The Purchase. Want to have a map of my garden. Turns out that needed an additional download and fee. Still says demo, not sure why. Maybe more time with it may lessen my disappointment but I don’t think it was meant for serious gardeners. I just want to show the location of my garden plants with an easy to edit listing of varieties. I double and triple crop and don’t see a way to simply display that. I do notice that others have mostly rated it higher. I guess You should read their reviews.
Good but doesn’t adjust planting based on zone. I love this app for planning my garden because it’s huge and every year I forget what I’ve planted where BUT I live in zone 10a so the planting and harvesting times are much different than the recommendations in the app. If you could add that feature that would be 5 star ⭐️
Really great gardening app for gardening!. First off I do wish it had the option to switch zones to a desert climate since I’m in zone 9. It’s PERFECT for designing a custom size with all the main vegetables to choose from. It would be even better if they included herbs and flowers. Nothing is more annoying to spend hours of time looking up just a few items only to have them fail because they don’t do well together. This app does great at telling you what plants to put next to each other and how much sun it needs. Wish I had this 3 years ago when I started gardening in Arizona. Please make it possible to adjust the zones in future development. This will be amazing!
Has lots of potential. But the list of vegetables (and fruits) available in the app is very small, especially when you have to pay $1.99 to access the full list. I can’t add winter squash, summer, squash, pickling cucumbers, corn, cantaloupe, cabbage, collard greens, mesculin mix, tarragon, lavender, and different tomato, pepper, eggplant, potato, and onion varieties. I also can’t resize individual plant footprints in the patch plan section, and there’s no way to label the custom plant option they give you (although you can resize that, go figure). One other thing that makes the app annoying to use is that it’s incredibly difficult to actually drag and drop a plant from the menu at the top of the patch plan section. Usually when you think you’ve tapped on the right plant the menu just starts scrolling left and right instead. Glad I only spent $1.99 on this section (separate from the other $1.99 for the list).
Info for German Climate only. Nowhere in the description does it say that plant and harvest times are based on German climate only (yet it’s available in the US App Store??). There’s no way to customize the app for your local climate. The free version has info for only 12 uncommon veggies; for $1.99 you can unlock info on a meager list of additional veggies but it’s definitely not worth it. The app is still pretty new so maybe future updates will add more features but as of today, it needs a lot of work!
Junk. This app is complete junk. It was a waste of $4. The vegetables are pretty limited which didn’t bother me that much. The garden planner is a complete waste of time. I have 20 IBC totes that have been cut in half as raised beds that I was trying to organize. I thought this app would be a solution but it functions like a 3rd grader developed it.
Can be improved. The overall idea of how this app is suppose to work is sound but it needs some improvements. Although there is a menu to sort your veggies, it doesn’t work. The veggie list doesn’t contain some commonly grown varieties such as leaf lettuce, snow peas, bush beans and Lima beans. You have to add them as custom veggies. The attributes for the custom veggies is written in German. It allows you to add the same veggie to your list twice without asking if that is what you want to do. You can’t group part of your garden and move it to another location in the plot planner. There is no undo button in the plot planner. And finally this app was advertised as being free but you have to buy access to all the veggies and the plot planner. Make these improvements and you have a great app.
Not helpful. The idea is fantastic. Being able to see companion plants is great! But this is quite useless if we can’t pick our zone. I’ll have to keep referring back to the seed packets or the internet so I’d be doing twice the work. Since I can’t change the zone, I didn’t bother buying it. The demo garden plot was lacking in features (not able to add flowers, shrubs, etc) and I couldn’t change the size of it. Not sure if that’s available in the full version or not. If we could change our hardiness zone then I would be happy to buy it!
Misleading information. After paying to “unlock” all the veggies, I trusted the information on this app. After planting half my garden I saw the app tells you tomatoes and bell peppers aren’t good neighbors.(I knew that they are) so after I knew it was getting false information I googled a couple things that I already planted next to one another... (cabbage next to tomatoes for instance) now thanks to this app I have to dig up multiple things and STILL plan where to put them using google lol The actual garden planner in the app doesn’t work either I didn’t care until I realized nothing in this app worked lol Thanks for waisting my time and taking my money.
Extremely Limited. I believe that free apps should show enough functions to be able consider if I’d like to purchase additional features. The second click in the app asked me for $1.99 at that point I had no idea what the app could or would do so the benefit of the purchase seems to be wasteful. Common, inexpensive & easy to grow fruits and veggies are not included include. I was able to add carrots but select 5 others that would have been $1.99 but picking the 1st listed; artichoke allowed to add, but I as a novice I a diagram of a carrot artichoke garden would be useful.
Zone 7 only?. As any gardener knows, zone location is fundamental to garden planning. The app starts up by telling you that the information it provides is based on zone 7 and “to please adapt accordingly.” This renders the app useless for anyone outside of zone 7 as I did not find a setting where you can adjust the app so I assume they intend for you to do the adapting. I thought that is why we use apps to begin with-to do the calculations?? Anyway, I feel like the unlucky one because the app layout and feature seem otherwise fantastic.
Amateur aspirations to Decent Harvest. I’ve been utilizing this app for probably about 3-4 years now. It’s user friendly interface has allowed me to increase my basic knowledge about planning and planting, especially realizing positive and poor adjacent companions as well as plotting the rotation of my plants to maintain nutrient dense soil health. It’s one of two go-to gardening apps I use year after year!
Mediocre at best. This app cost money which I didn’t realize at first. I purchased the app because I like the idea on planning my garden. However, they are lacking on the plant variety available. I would also like it if the planner was on a grid and would snap to the grid. Also, a pathway options would be nice to put between plants. I expected a little more from a paid app.
More please. I think this is a great concept but I can’t finish with over half of the veggies and herbs I plan on planting missing. I realize I have the same complaint as most but really would love to see more varieties added. More squashes, okra, peppers etc. It would be neat to see suggestions for companion flowers as well. As for the climate, yes it would be nice to be able to choose a region and have more accurate information. If it were me I would just remove that part of the app until it could be improved. I would also have to agree with others that being able to edit the size of the beds would be nice. It took me forever to finally figure out how to at least delete one so I could fix it. Additionally it would be cool to be able to map out multiple beds in one screen to see the bigger picture. Also maybe a way to be able to see which plants and how many you’ve used from your list and which ones are left. Again this product seems like it has potential, just isn’t there yet.
Disappointed. I’m kind of disappointed at the selection of vegetables on this app. I am planting many of the ones they have listed but there are still a lot missing that I want to plant this year. Also, you should just go ahead and make your app paid if you are going to charge for the plot planner and then a separate fee to unlock the rest of the vegetables. I won’t be using this app because I already have my first bed planned out perfectly I just needed it for my second bed. It’s a waste of money and I would like a refund.
Limited app. Limited vegetable and herb list. Cannot edit a plan or delete it. That is, once you have set your dimensions, you cannot adjust them. I would recommend an app that gives more choices. However, this one is easy to use. Don’t waste your money paying for the additional vegetable list. It isn’t much better than the free version. It doesn’t include a lot of common vegetables like certain greens, sweet potatoes, asparagus, etc. Add more veggies & herbs please!
Completely useless. Save your time and money. I wrote a detailed review which disappeared at send. We’ll see if it shows up in the App Store at a later date. At best, this is a totally disabled demo. The screen shots of what they think it can do are no different to this working app as you first install it. You can choose only one vegetable. That’s it. Nothing else works. How could it? What’s to plan in a garden with only one veg?? Even purchasing the full app, the functions are limited and there are very few common vegetables and no varieties.
Great potential, still needs work.... As many reviewers have mentioned, not enough veggies. Should be able to set planting zone. Map is flaky, showed distances then they disappeared...not sure how to delete a map, or at least it’s not straightforward. Some information seems to contradict what seed packets recommend. Developers still have a lot of work to do and shouldn’t be charging more than a dollar with the app in its current condition.
Buyer beware. I thought this app was everything I wanted until I purchased it and realized not much more was added on. With access to the inter webs you would think you could add endless plants. But my biggest pet peeve is that you can’t change the zone. So that means I have to open up the net look something up and adjust the dates. Which is what I should have done in the first place. Useless if I have to do all the research myself. I thought apps were there to make things easier !
SO much potential. I pay for this app because it’s only three dollars and some thing a year. The main downside to this app the limited amount of vegetables would be nice to expand the number of plants already in the system but it is nice to be able to add any plants you want. it would be nice for your information to be cross platform as in transferring data from different devices on iCloud so you can access your garden on multiple devices. The calendar and garden planner I would say my most used parts of the app.
Nice app if you buy the add-ons. I downloaded the free app to plan my veggie beds. I had to pay an additional $2.20 twice ($4.40 total) to get to the point where I could access additional types of veg I wanted and customize the beds and save them. I love the feature that shows what plants “play nicely” together, it makes laying out the beds so easy. For 5 stars they need to expand the list of veg you can select, provide more in-depth planting and seeding advice for each veg type, and just charge $2.99 right up front - because the app isn’t very useful without the add-ons.
Perfect Vegetable Garden App!. I love this app. This is my 2nd year using it. This makes planning so easy because it lets you plot out your garden spaces by entering the dimensions and location of each one and then shows you how much space you need for each plant. It also easily shows you what you can plant next to what. The veggie descriptions are extremely helpful for soil, light, water and nutrient needs. Highly recommend!
Zones 7-8, free download is a demo version. Good start for this app. I was hoping to be able to set the zone and adjust the dates according to my knowledge of growing in my area. Being able to create different shapes of garden bed would also be nice. Reasonable price for the full application if the zone suits your needs, especially considering the developers respect for user data (it isn’t using location etc, where other garden apps for different developers I had looked at where basically taking any information they could get...not necessary for this). Given the respect for the user, I would purchase this if the features get built up more even if the purchase price goes up (as it stands, it’s not super helpful for my location and needs, but I like what I see in it regardless). I’ve seen fully featured garden software but it required an annual subscription; I’d rather pay a flat fee to purchase use of an app or software.
Potential. The list of veggies is so small. I wish it also had more medicinal herbs. They have another app that is 99 cents which like I would pay for if it were an add on library to this app. I companion plant and want to see how all of my garden is going to work together. So this is great for a basic start but I will have to do more research on some of the plants I want to add to my garden. So is it worth $3.90 prob not. Likely wont renew it after this year. Unless there is more added to the library and such.
No scaling or zoom on a phone...need to add fruits. This app has potential, but could be better with user testing. Would be nice to have an add/edit capability to create custom function for adding items to the calendar and notes for each vegetable/fruit in my list. Speaking of fruits...berry bushes, vines, fruit trees? Useless if you grow a backyard orchard or other common fruiting plants. As for the planning tool, would be more useful if I it was less clunky. It has a huge learning curve that is too complicated to deal with. All of that said, I do like the app, but would give more stars if it were more flexible to edit and customizable.
In App Purchases are just annoying. What’s the point of downloading an app you can’t really use unless you keep paying for random lists? It makes me feel like I’m being nickeled and dimed just to get the basic functions of the app I was interested in when I downloaded it. With all of the issues with this app that I am seeing and reading about, it is silly to have all these in-app fees that don’t even give people everything they want for their garden. Just make the app a flat fee.
Some Limited Herbs and Vegetables, otherwise great App!!. The app is easy to use and allows you to build your plots with names. Also, you can add vegetables and herbs, but you need to research seeding, transplant, and harvest time along with sun, water, and if it depletes nutrients. One very important features is what it grows well with and what should be avoided. In the plot view as you drag and drop veggies and herbs onto the plot, a heart or lightening bolt show up, allowing you to reposition the plant. After you build your list for “My Vegetables “ a calendar view can be selected for all your seeding and planting dates. Basil, Chives, Dill, Rosemary, Parsley, Sage, Thyme are the only Herbs included. Oregano, Shallot, and Scallions are not included, but you can add them. I bought both the premium versions as I’m planting a combination of 27 vegetables and herbs in three raised beds, a herb garden, and ten grow bags. This app is great! I would like to share or sync with my iPad and iPhone.
App Fails to Purchase. App fails to process payment. Had to try a dozen different times to get the app to process the upgrade. It would just bring a prompt, “Purchase failed. Something went wrong try again later.” After multiple attempts it finally went through, that app works great! Love it! Wish it had more options and ability to plan multiple beds at once.
Has potential. In this day and age the majority of people are using raised beds. So it would wonderful if we could put all the beds on one page to see the layout of multiple beds at once. Different shaped beds would be great also. As well as adding more vegetables and companion flowers as well.
Not free, lacks features. Free to download, but costs $3.99 to use it. I went ahead and paid because I really like how the app lets you add your plants in the garden and tells you if they are good together or not, and includes the size of the plant. One thing it is lacking, though, is the capability to have multiple separate gardens. You can only have one garden. In real life, I’d like to make boxed gardens so that I can group together the plants that do well together. Or at least if they added a feature to draw a box inside the garden. Another thing I would like to see them add is a chart that shows which plants prefer shade and which prefer sun, or incorporate it into the garden layout plan. (I did see that you can sort your veggies according to “light needs” which does help.) Also add more plants and flowers! Cantaloupe, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, cilantro are a few plants not included. But they do have the option to add custom veggies, which is nice. Add those features or lower the price and then I’ll give it 5 stars. I would like to add that the reason I was looking for an app like this where I could plan the layout of my garden without thinking about it and without knowing all the plant information is because I am new to gardening and have no clue what I am doing and I did not want to take the time to search out every single plant. The more the app does for me, the better.
Deceiving advertising. I got a pop-up that offered to buy access to the app at a discounted price for a limited time only. I decided to purchase the app, but it was only access to the extra veggies, but not the patch planner. You can’t really use one without the other, so I really don’t understand why they are offered to be purchased separately! And it was not a limited time price, it’s always the same price. Purchasing access to the whole app isn’t much money and I would have happily done so, but since I thought I was getting a good deal, now I feel cheated and I don’t want to use the stupid thing anymore.
Needs improvements. Lovely idea. There are a couple things that need to be improved . The language in the section to add your own plants is not in English and not in Spanish. I’m guessing German. The plants preinstalled are general and not correct for companion planting like... kale and onions are friends, this app says neutral, but then on the planner is shows up as not compatible. Also it would be nice for the planner to populate the best place to put the plants. I thought I would enter that I have 72 tomato plants and 28 kale and 52 cucumbers, then the app would make a suggestion According to the information on hand. Nope. You definitely have to plan it just like in paper. I also hope we can change the zone in future updates. I’m in zone 5, so parts of the app are not useful for me. Otherwise great concept.

Calendar doesn’t work for me.. Needs an option to change climate / location. As I live in the Southern Hemisphere the calendar is completely wrong.
Good idea but lacking in features. I love the way it shows tips for coplanting and the planner is easy to use. But I can't add new plants and the schedule is impossible as I can't set it for the Southern Hemisphere.
Only useful in US hardiness zones 7-8.. What a waste. What this app needs to be awesome is a world map where you select your location and it automatically picks your zone and planting time suggestions.
Southern Hemisphere. I thought this was it A great app but it doesn’t have the planting time for the Southern Hemisphere.
Unable to create new patches after purchasing. I purchased it in veggie list. Then I opened patch editor, it said I have to purchase again. Tried restoring, it said restoring succeeded. But when I tried to create a new patch, the purchase page popped up again.
Don’t waste your money. Northern hemisphere centric, very limited range of plants and terrible user experience.
Not happy. Assumes that you are in the Northern Hemisphere and does not take your location into account when suggesting planting and harvesting dates.
Half an app. Some nice things about this app. I like the garden plan but a lot of veggies, herbs and companion flowers are not included. This is also set up for Northern hemisphere so while all you have to do is reverse the months for the Southern Hemisphere it should be a simple click for app to do it. With a bit of work this could be good but if it matches only half the plants in my garden it quickly becomes obsolete. Even if it had a box that you could put in and name your own plant this would be helpful then they could add these on further revisions
Very limited. Used the demo garden a few times test before committing to purchase. Seamed very a good idea few handy hints. After buying found out the vegetable list is very limited I can understand I don’t expect every vegetable to be there but expected common one like snow peas sweet potato. Also wound make it easier to use if you split it up into seasons I’m in the Southern Hemisphere so your calendar is to little help to me.
Need more options. Would be great if the app gives information why some fruit, herbs and vegetables can’t be and can be planted near each other. More options for garden layout, like drag out the area you’re actually working with rather then just a rotation of one design.
Needs PH guide. This app is great. I’d suggest adding the preferred PH of the soil for each plant.
Not terrible if you are in the right place. The app looks pretty useful in theory but being in Australia the effort to switch all the seasons around makes it not worth the work.
Northern Hemisphere ONLY. No option to adjust the planting/harvest times at all. I thought I could set/adjust these to suit my climate but they are fixed and cannot be changed. Not sure what climate the app times are set for but I guess if you live there it would be a great app?
Time zone. I can’t set this to AU seasons grrr. Waste of money
Not suitable for southern hemisphere. The app is focused on the northern hemisphere including growing zones. There is no option to select your growing zone.
It's good but should be updated. A converter used in the southern hemisphere should be added, as well as various regional conversions.
Could use more work. This app could be improved by enabling Southern Hemisphere and being able to select plantings for climate zones.
Full versions. I purchased the full version so that I can use the garden bed planner, but it keeps glitching and only letting me use the demo/prompting me to buy it again Also I don’t think I can update my location and the feature of knowing when to plant is useless. Will be requesting a refund as it’s hardly more then a partial lists of vegetables
The neighbours grid doesn’t align. The neighbours grid doesn’t match up. When you choose multiple plants, for example, zucchini has 5 hearts on the horizontal axis and 3 hearts on the y axis. Good concept, just need to fine tune the formula
Nice. I did but my dad had to make an in app purchase
Waist of time and money. This app is lacking with many features such the ability to add more patches and size patches, Exports does not work. So sorry I purchased. Give my $3 back
Missing major features. Downloaded this app today and firstly realised that you have to pay for it (reasonable price) and secondly doesn’t have correct planting regions for Southern Hemisphere (where I live!) The ideas there but the execution could be better....

Good app BUT. Needs more vegetables, squash In particular spaghetti, squash, butternut squash, acorn squash. There’s so many different varieties out there. I wish they were in the app because I know most people this is a staple in their garden.
gives you very little in free version.. you have to buy an expansion pack for $2.79 if you want green beans or any vegetables that seem pretty standard in a garden. am deleting.
Overpriced. Spend your money on seeds. Most functionality requires a purchase.
Buyer aware. I should have taken previous reviews more seriously. Set for one planting zone, no option to change. I paid the $5+ to supposedly unlock all features. Did nothing. Another $2+ to unlock all vegs. Now wants another $2+ to unlock the planner. Enough already. I am so done with this useless app.
Small list of veggie in the data base. The data base are so small ... for 5$ version ... waist of money...
Just what I needed. I love this app. I am using it to determine where stuff goes in my new raised beds and what companion plants to use. Complelety revolutionized my gardening and rekindled my enthusiasm . The only things I would ask for is the ability to rename the beds and to be able to make round or different shaped gardens. And hopefully they will add more flowers for companion planting and pollinators and butterflies. Great app
Great App 😀. Great app, go download it for your self. In order to actually use the app in a real garden, not for a test, you will have to pay the humble 5 dollars. Really though, it’s 5 dollars you cheap scape.
Waste of money.. Could be great but is so basic really doesn’t help in planning
Disappointed. Was so excited I purchased right away only to try the plan veggie patch and find the icons are so small I can’t even see them. Not for people who have vision problems. You also have to adjust for the few zones they list. If you want money for an app it should be more inclusive. And why are the plots in centimetres?
Robert. No Cabbage.... ?? It says get a Full List if you purchase..... I just bought it with expectations it would have a comprehensive plant and veg Library so paid extra ...WRONG...reality is it just crap .....Please Refund me !
Garden. This has been helping me so much plant my own (very first) garden at our new farm! I love this app!
Visually appealing layout. Please add a way to change units of measure to inch, there are still almost 390 million people that use the standard system.
Rip off. Why do I have to pay for each seed are you guys insane and pay for a garden plan
I love this app!. I wi
Payed $2.75 for one vegetable. Also paid and only got one vegetable and the standard veggies should be included in the free version!!! Not impressed!! Would like to unlock all the veggies as the ad stated!!
Great app!. I love how this app shows you which plants are not compatible when you place them near each other on the planner. It’s awesome!
Great potential but needs improvement. Overall useful and good The improvements required : limited amount of plants available to choose from (even with the purchased version) common things like oregano and leaf lettuce included in mesclun are missing The measurement of the garden are in meters you can’t have it in feet doesn’t allow for sq foot gardening just traditional row planting . You can’t select your planting zone so if you aren’t in the Seattle type of planting zone the calendar is useless . With these improvements made this app will be the best garden planner app on the App Store . So far I feel I wasted $5.49
No way. You have to pay for each seed you want to add to your garden... I pay for the list of veggie and the ask to pay for the seed on the garden plan.
Not bad, has huge potential. This is a great app for beginners. The garden planner is great, but need the ability to edit or delete the beds etc, one mistake and you have to start over. Need to have fruit some of the common fruit to the list like raspberries.
Needs more veggies!. Simple yet great app for beginners gardeners. It needs more veggies!
Good App. Good little app. A little quirky at first but I soon figured it out. You can add and delete several Garden plans. On iPad with ISO 10.3.3 my veggies list doesn't show, just Add Vegetables but ok on my iPhone 11. Note for more southern US and Europe than Canada but only slightly out, so just shift dates later.
Horrible. I do not recommend this app. There is few veggies to chooses from. I bought the “expansion pack” and am completely disappointed. Common ones are not on the list so it really is pointless for me. Waste of my time and money. My 3 (almost 4) year old was excited to see it all laid out in the app since we cannot plant anything at the moment. So not only a huge disappointment to me but to my son as well.
Great App Just needs a bit of fine tuning. Need to be able to change units of measure in the garden layout and it’s missing the ability to select a growing zone for each plant and missing a lot of veggies that are commonly grown . The app is definitely a great assistance tool in planning your garden .
So much info and so much fun!. I have just started using this app and it is providing me with all the information I was expecting to have to research and then write out on index cards So easy
Do not download! Waste of your time!. Terrible app. Allows you use of pictures of veggies you’ll never plant and then makes you pay for any vegetables you would actually want to plant in your garden. And you’re not even paying for anything but the use of a picture to make your plan! Lol, absolute waste of your time!
Waste of Money.. Thought by paying 2.79 I’d get full use of the app. Nope. You pay to get veggies to add to your garden then they want you to pay 2.79 again to plan the garden.
Everything is an add on. When you first get the app you only have access to a handful of vegetables. Then you have to pay to access the rest. Then you have to pay extra to use the garden planner.
Terrible app. I didn’t read the reviews and fell into the same trap. Just paid to unlock the veggies....only to figure out the plot planner is locked and even the demo patch doesn’t work properly. This is crap.
$2.79 per vegetable???. So I purchased what I thought was an expansion pack for all the veggies for $2.79 but only got access to the veggie I was on. Any idea if it is actually $2.79 per veggie or maybe I did something wrong??
Horrible App. This was an absolute rip off and I am extremely disappointed - total cash grab where you have to keep paying each time you want to do anything - I’ll cut my losses at $2.79. If I could put zero stars I would, but I have to choose at least one....figures
Useful but poorly setup. Cannot design a garden shape other than square and rectangular and the vegetables list is not searchable leaving you scrolling and hoping you didn’t miss what you are looking for.
Needs work. This is a decent planning tool. You can easily see conflicts and requirements for the crops listed. It doesn’t include any melons which I find disappointing. There is no way to change spacing to Square Foot Gardening. I wanted to be able to switch between my phone and iPad and see my garden selections and this does not appear to be an option. Also it would be nice to be able to lay out several raised beds in one patch to view the whole thing, but I can deal with having to create a new patch for each bed. It would be a nice addition to be able to pick a growing zone and if the calendar indicated times for seeding starts and direct planting. Also exposure to sun or shade due to orientation would be a great thing to include. Better instructions would also benefit the user. Overall it is a workable app but still needs some improvements to make it great and make me want to recommend it.
It’s just a demo. It’s a demo and they dont tell you that. Just about everything is a paid subscription.
Not for me. It’s a free trial with extremely limited options. To add any vegetable that starts with the letter D through Z you must pay 3 dollars. To use the garden plot planner, you must pay 6 more dollars. I’m deleting it. A free trial should unlock everything for a limited time. How will I know if it’s worth the money? And it’s only good for zones 7-8. Well out of my range.
Makes you pay more and more. Seemed like a nice app. Makes you pay to unlock more vegetable options; so I paid only to find out that there are is a very, very small selection of vegetables and herbs available to choose from. Since I can’t add new vegetables, I can’t have my vegetable selection accounted for on here— meaning I can’t really use this to help plan my patch at all. Then, it tries to make me pay extra for every other part of the app?? I unlocked the veggie list but I have to pay *more* to actually use the garden planner part? This wasn’t clear when I paid— or I wouldn’t have paid. Feels scammy.
No imperial measurements. No way to change from metric to imperial.
Waste of money. Waste
Suggestion. Would love to see more flowers/herbs added that are beneficial to veggie gardens. Lavender, chamomile, marigolds, lemon grass etc…
Not useful at all. I bought this based on the reviews. It is lacking in functionality. I bought the extra functions and was very disappointed. The list of vegetables is incomplete and can’t be added to. It is set for only one USDA garden zone. The garden patch design section (a paid feature) is very poorly set up. A piece of paper and a pencil is more useful. Would not recommend. I did get my money back so that is good.
SCAM ALERT. Developers do not maintain their app. I paid for this app and now I do not have access. It asks me to restore purchase and when I click is says “failed” try later. Bee trying for weeks. These developers get away with robbery and it seems there no easy way to contact them or get support, refund.
Has potential but still needs a lot of work. Should be able to edit the vegetable names in the garden planner. I have four different types of tomatoes and two zucchini for example, so if I could name them it would be nice. Also when there’s the conflict in the planner it would be good to be able to click it to see why it’s a conflict. And apparently I had corn in my garden? We should be able to start from scratch not be stuck with demo settings once we pay. The zones is also annoying. Should be able to set your zone. Every time you click something you have to pay and it’s frustrating. Make it a one time payment and call it a day. If your app is worth it people will pay. For now I paid 6$ for functions that are mediocre. Would love to see some updates!

Bad.. If almost all of the content of your app is going to come from an in app purchase, then make your app paid instead of enticing people with the false promise of free functionality. In addition, the actual information in the app is bad. Just taking one example, beets, the description calls them turnips at one point then says they are a tuber, which they are not. If you're going to make a garden app then know something about vegetables please.
Great work!. Awesome app, exactly what I want in an organizer for my garden. I do hope we get more veggies and herbs available. Great work team. As I continue to use this I'll post more feedback.
Not there yet.... I purchased this app thinking the paid version would let me do so much more but I was wrong. I wish we could update the region and it was capable of doing sqft gardening. I guess I’ll wait to have the app updated to be worth the $5 ugh*** *** Update: realized that there is wrong information on this app (i.e it says tomato plants cant grow with peppers). I request a refund please!
It’s a great idea but.... Plant inventory needs to be expanded greatly doesn’t even have squash plants. When making rows allow the user to designate the space between the plants. App says tomatoes are 2’ apart and you cant change that with rows. Other than that love the advice especially the neighboring plant guide.
Where can I change my growing zone. I just downloaded this app. I’m trying to plan out my garden now. I live in growing zone 10b. I don’t see where I can change the zone to have the calendar update to my zone. Is that possible in the pay version of the app? Giving 3 stars, updating if I can change my zone.
Subscription model. Apparently this app use to be a pay once and done but they moved to a subscription model. Its yearly and not terrible. All the features look interesting and pretty well done just not what I’m looking. Kutos for not collecting data.
Great concept. Love the concept. Bought the full version and will plant my first patch. The app still a bit rough. Can’t delete planned patches or resize or rename them. More varieties would be fantastic. Possibly companion flowers as pesticides. Keep up the great work and hopefully bring us some good updates
Good idea Poor execution. I would prefer to pay for a one time download where I know how much it’ll cost. Every time I try to do something different in the app, it wants to charge $1.99. Since I don’t know how many times it’s going to do that, I didn’t add anymore features. For all I know, it might want to charge me $1.99 for 10 different features. Not using anymore.
Can’t adjust zone in the app. Only really useful if your garden is in zone 7-8. There is no option to adjust timing/planning for a different zone within the app. If I need to keep a separate paper file to calculate the adjustments and keep track of my plan with the correct months to do tasks I don’t need an app. Very disappointed as it seems otherwise like a great and simple planning tool, just what I was looking for.
Great app, but want more!. I love being able to plan out my garden with companion plants, but would love to be able to incorporate a larger list of produce. The ability to incorporate other common garden items like berry bushes, melons, or other types of fruit would be incredibly helpful when plotting out new spaces.
Not Worth the Money. First I had to pay to pick my vegetables and then I had to turn around again and pay for adding them to the patch. I wouldn’t have minded so much but the icons are so tiny you can’t tell whats what when you put in the patch and you can’t arrange them the way you’d like to. This has done nothing to help me design the garden the way I want to. The visual aspect is just not there. I really want to like this app but it’s just not worth the money
No instructions. No instructions and no way to add more vegetables in the plans. Very small selection of vegetables to choose from and work with. It’s a little bit of a learning curve to use thus app. I want add more, or other vegetables that are not on the list. The free app is useless. Had to make two additional purchases to be able to actually do anything with this app. I wish I could get a refund. Totally not worth it.
Helpful app!. Used this app last year and when I opened it to plan for this year it was great to get tips on replanting my beds. Great for a novice gardener like me.
Calendar needs update. Please make the calendar month row freeze so when you scrolling down you can see the month in next pages. Also, I don’t see water amount in the plants information. Besides that for now awesome app. Ty
Needs improvement. I need to be able to edit the garden planning plot in terms of deleting a vegetable I changed my mind on planting. As of now I have to delete the entire garden I’ve been working on to start over. In addition, very limited choices in vegetables. It’s a good concept, but seems early development stage. Not worth purchasing at this point. May 2021.
The planner is great!. Would love to see the app become intuitive by having preset vegetable plans and arrangements once the plants are selected… like, cool, you want these veggies.. well here are some preset arrangements in case you’d like some assistance. Dreams aside.. this app is great!
😕. Paid to get unlimited and it only gives you all the veggies that they have listed and not the planner which I thought I was buying you have to go to a separate page to pay for that. I am pretty disappointed that I ended up paying for the wrong thing cause the app is confusing.
Restore purchases. While I love the app, it is constantly telling me to buy/restore my purchases. I can’t use the garden building feature because it just tells me to restore my purchase then kicks me back to the same page as before.
Easy to use and no crashing. This app was so easy to use and understand. I’m using the “Calendar” and “Neighbor” charts to sketch a layout for my garden and it is very useful. Anxious to see if more veggies are added in the future. They have most basic veggies listed though.
Only convenient for zones 7 & 8.. The handy seed/harvest calendar is set for zones 7 & 8. It says to “adjust accordingly” if you’re in a different zone—This is not useful if you purchased the app hoping it would provide accurate dates/reminders for you. How difficult would it be to allow the user to do this?—to insert their zone, frost dates, seed dates, etc, and then for the app to provide more customized, meaningful info?
Nice app. I really like the garden planner and it tells me the good neighbors and bad neighbors in my garden. It’s very user friendly and intuitive. Great customer support too. Emailed the developer with an issue and received a response with a solution very quickly! I would like to see more fruit and herbs in the list, possibly for future enhancements.
Worth Your Money!!. I’ve been trying to find a simple Garden Guide and Planner as an App for awhile. This is perfect! It’s user friendly and simple. Thanks for building this app!
Does not work the way I Imagined. I am looking for an app that will help me plan out my garden, so I can stop planning on paper. This app is very informative about which plants get along with others, however the ‘patch plan’ does not work. Yes it’s $3.99 to be able to create one, but after it told me I successfully purchased it, it still didn’t work, and asked me to purchase again. I do not see any charges under my history in the App Store. Doesn’t work.
Not worth paying for. Not much more helpful than a basic drawing app. Needs way more vegetable varieties already loaded. Only way to take an image is just a blurry picture. Needs a PDF export function. Already loaded veggies need to be editable. Sun orientation/shading of plants would be nice, as would a month by month look at what’s grown and what replaces spots, as the year progresses.
You have to pay to see the info on more than half the plants. It has some very good things that I like. Except it makes you pay to see more than half the plants information. Including Carrots which you should not have to pay to see.
Add one costly. So the product was nice! You can try it for free but then have to purchase the app which wasn’t very expensive $2.99 for the features. BUT why I removed it was you also have to “add on” vegetables. Only base selection of plants are included. I quickly realized this could get costly.
Incomplete. Missing some basic functionality.. Needs more development of basic functionality. Like editing and labeling of measurements and data input. More vegetables options would be nice too for the paid version. I like the concept but It just doesn’t deliver enough value to pay any money for it.
Straight forward easy to use has what I need and not what I don't!. I like it. It has just the right features that are easy to navigate. I find it very helpful.
No suggestions. I had hoped that after I paid $4.20 that this app would provide me with a few suggested layouts after I picked out my selected veggies. If they added that feature asked a few sun questions. No doubt this would be worth it.
Doesn’t Accept Family Sharing. If you want to work with your partner in your gardening plans, this app seems to reject family sharing for the add-ons. The app seems pretty solid, but making you pay microtransactions per family member isn’t acceptable to me. If you don’t plan on working with family or loved ones at all, this seems like a decent tool.
Not free must pay for veggie access!. You get a couple free veggies but to access others you pay $1.99 each! That should be explained up front or give access to a certain number of free veggies (user choice) then pay for additional. I was not able to use the app at all the veggies I needed weren’t available without purchasing additional veggies.
Not Upfront About Pricing. When trying to access veggie list, i was prompted to pay to be able to add more veggies. I paid the $1.99 to add more veggies but when I went to edit my garden size, was again prompted to buy the ability to edit. Not gonna do that and wondering what else I would have to pay to access. Feels like a scam and will be deleting the app. Enjoy my $1.99!
Very limited. I bought this app hoping it would help me plan. While the companion guide is nice— you can get that for free in many places. The planting zone is set, so if you don’t live in Seattle is similar regions the information is limited. Also, it places rows of vegetable is blocks. It doesn’t not allow you to shape or say, plant one of something in an area. Overall, just not that great. You still have a lot of work to be done, developers.
Really Great. This is a great resource! It takes a little time to get used to but once you are used to it, it’s easy and fun to plan out your crops!
A bit disappointing. It seemed like a good app but I wish the garden plan labeled the vegetables so I knew which rectangle was which vegetable. And then it would be very nice to print the garden plan to take out to the garden. I also agree with other comments that want more choices of vegetables. Hopefully the developers will keep working on it and allow us to update for free so we feel that our money was well spent...
Kind of upset.. Bought the add ons and I can’t finish my planning. vegetables like spaghetti squash and butternut are not listed. Seems like it would be a great app. Just wish I didn’t have to input the info of these, I also wish I could change the sizes of the rows and length.
I love the app but would like more veggies.. I have common things like green onions that I want to put in my first time garden. I have seedlings growing now and am having to make due with like veggies to see placements. I have no idea what I am doing so I see great potential to this app and understand it is growing... I just hope in time for my plants this year. Keep working hard I really do appreciate it!!
Not enough selection. People using this app are using it so they can plan out what vegetables they should put where in there garden, and what helper plants are good to put with them and which will harm rather then help. So why is there such a bleak selection of herbs and veggies? I wasn’t able to find most of the things I am growing in my garden and they’re very common. One for example being mint!
Great. This is my second year planning a garden with this app and it is super easy to use! I just now printed up my new planting schedule and the chart that shows what can or shouldn’t be planted next to each other!! ❤️
Variety. I understand this is a common complaint; however, I wanted to add my two cents as well. For me, this is by far the best planner at least aesthetically and I would love to be able to use it more but half of my veggies/fruits are not listed.
Was looking for a calendar. I found much more than that! Everything custom right on a user friendly tab. You don’t even really have to enter much. Thumbs up!
Meh. Good for a beginner. Nice enough if you want someone else to decide your plant spacing; I don’t plant my tomatoes ( for example) 2+feet apart, and there’s no way to change that, which is very frustrating. I plant intensively and interplant, and this app doesn’t allow that, nor does really help with crop rotation. I’ll keep looking for an effective planner that works on tablets.
Sort of user friendly. I love the idea of the app. Functions well too. My only problem with it is the microscopic font size when I use it from my iPhone. Have the developers tried to actually use it?
Very disappointed!. It clearly states that you are able to print you garden layout, I found nowhere this is possible. Also states you can add you own vegetables and plants. Again, i found nowhere to be able to do this. Waiting on a response from support. If there is a fix for these items, I will update and change my review. But, as it stands now, my $3.99 was wasted.
Pay $2 for limited plants. While this app gives you a nice chart to see what plants are good/bad neighbors, the selection is very limited. The calendar would be great if you could actually make adjustments for what zone you are actually planning for. For a newbie this app has potential, but it falls short. $2 imo wasted.
First review. Planning the garden with this app is helpful and easy except for the following, 1. Difficult to map raised beds. 2. I have been unable to change the size of the plots That’s all I have for now
Is there a way to add plants?. Am I missing it or something? I’ve bought the extras but it’s still not enough. Can’t you add a feature where the app users can manually enter it. Just a thought. Either way, I like the planning feature. Easy to understand and simple. Just wished there were more plants added.
It’s good but….. I wish they had more veggies, flowers, fruits on here and wish it would adjust to where you live. Kinda wish I read more before purchasing, because I would have not gotten it but that’s on me. Hopefully will find some use with it.
Great concept. The concept of the app is great, I’d only suggest that you add more variety of plants, maybe a spot to map your overall set of patches (then zoom to individual patches) all the US hardiness zones, and ability to delete or edit the size of a patch you’ve created.
They charge you for every feature.. Was going to use this tool to help plan a garden this year. Started adding veggies to my list and had to pay to continue (I understand that they in to make money to develop the app). Get all of my veggies added and start to layout the garden and get a prompt to pay another 1.99. This is crazy!! I will not be using this app or giving them more money. Just tell me how much the app costs and if I feel it’s worth it I pay.
