Better on other platforms. The version in the google play store goes into more depth, saves previous recordings data, and some other stuff that this one doesn't do.

Not very helpful. Heard about this via the NATS voice conference. Downloaded it thinking it would help me find my average speaking pitch. The recording process to analyze my input is super slow, I terms of text scrolling. The results are not explained at all and there is no further info or interpretation. More follow-through, please.

Useful, free tool for voice training. I use this app to practice my voice for transitioning. It's a basic app, but it's perfect for practicing to keep my voice in the range I want.

worked as advertised. worked perfectly. Saw the negative reviews about the app not working and the developer responded saying they received an influx of new users and an overloaded app but fixed now. so just coming to leave a poster view because the developer fix the problem and I was able to analyze my voice no problem great app

used to work fine. Ive has this app for about a year and 4 months, using it to record my voice changes while transitioning from female to male. It used to work fine and would allow me to see the exact point in which my voice went from sounding female to sounding male but now when I hit record and talk, no matter how long I talk it says there was not enough audio recorded.

Functions as advertised. Exactly as advertised. Wish that it had an option to add notes to a recording so one can mark natural versus practiced pitch for keeping records. Also, developers, maybe check the random text samples, as a highly misogynistic passage from Dorian Grey is best left out of rotation.

Wrong results. I got this app because I was curious to see how high pitched/low pitched my voice was. The first results told me I had a high pitch, which is pretty accurate. However, I tried again, this time doing a really high pitch on purpose to see what the results would be. I went to the results and it said I sounded like a male (low pitched) which was completely not true.

Lost my recordings. I got a new phone so I had to redownload the app. It lost all my recordings from when I was 18-20. I’m 22 now. I’m a trans man and was looking at all of my past recordings… well, trying to and it lost every single one of them.

Great at first. When I had my Samsung phone this app worked wonderfully. It gave accurate and fast feedback for just one minutes worth of audio. Now, on my iPhone, all that happens after I record a sample is a message that says the app needs a better/longer sample. I’ve tried several times and the same message always appears.

I like it because.... It shows me where my voice is at, I’m a trans man, so I want to watch my voice go lower. I take screenshots of the reading after it shows the new reading. Love it!

Helpful to a point, but inaccurate. I've no doubt that this is useful to people with more normal voices, but for some reason my very deep bass voice is categorized as a woman's. It makes me wonder how accurate this whole thing is, that a guy who sounds a Johnny Cash record slowed down is apparently a normal-voiced woman.

Reading two male characters?. This app works but.. why would you pick a story section based on the interactions of two males? Great for trans men but psychologically pressures trans women to speak in male tones. Maybe the next update can have a way to choose?

Great :). This app is simple and easy to use, and it’s great for tracking vocal pitch progress. It’s gotten a lot cleaner and more cohesive since I started using it over a year ago, and I really appreciate the changes that’ve been made.

Simple straightforward and functional. Does exactly one thing, and does it well. I find it stable, easy, and consistent. If you want to work on your voice, you might want more features, but then you should be paying for a different app. As of this writing, this app has no ads, no in-app purchases, it’s just simple free.

objective and multipurpose. i like that the data is given in decibels while many other similar applications only give the gender descriptors which, being nb, causes dysphoria. i also like that it saves your progress. the charm of this app to me is reading The Time Machine by HG Wells out of order in small snippets as i try to track something across linear time. This app is best used in tandem with resources to help you train your voice in the ways you want to.

Simple. I feel bad for anyone out there who is trans but the app tells you that your voice is too deep/high. It’s normal, please don’t let this bring you down. Everyone’s voice is different no matter the gender. You are who you are. But this app does work and it’s quite simple really. I didn’t really enjoy it but it does the work. <3

wouldnt recommend if you’re trans :,). As a trans guy it was a tad disappointing to see how high my voice was ranked but I mean, the app works I guess lol.

Very helpful in voice training. I’m feminizing my voice and this app is pretty helpful.

Lacks features. I like the Droid based phone version better. This version is pretty lousy and basic nock off. There are no charts nor a way to keep a history of your pitch as in the Droid Version. I think that a couple of better apps would be Voice Analyst (my number one choice) and Voice Tools (not that great but better than this one). If this app had it’s game on and match the Droid version or even better, they made it better, it would rock. I hope that the developer puts more effort into this app and keeps adding features. Inhave the Droid version in one of my phones, I would love to have it in my iPhone and iPad. I have been asking the developer of the Apple version for years. But not this lousy stripped down version. Too bad!

Works well, could use more accessible data. i’m a genderqueer person on testosterone and this is super helpful for tracking voice changes! well, when i can get to the data. in order to view pitch history, i need to record my current pitch. i’d love a version that allows for users to see their history more readily. otherwise, a very useful app that’s simple and easy to use.

new update is good. just because you're trans and the analyzer gave you a result that you didn't like doesn't mean it's a bad app if you try talking in a deeper or higher pitch it may skew your results because you're straining your voice and isn't actually deeper or higher like you're trying to make it. it will be counter-productive.

This App only gives you 3 possibilities.. This app only tells you to read a long essay. Then when you hit the stop button, you’ll see 3 words: male, female, or androgynous. If you decide to read in a deep voice, it will highlight (male). If you decide to read in a high pitch voice, it will highlight (female). If your decide to read the long essay in between high and low, it will highlight (androgynous). THATS IT! That’s all you just wasted your time on.

Helpful. Easy to use and interpret. I love that it doesn't tell me what to do -- just an objective review of what I sound like, so I can track changes as they occur naturally. I love that they use old science fiction passages -- I know that is probably because they are royalty free but it's nice.

It really works but I’d change one thing. I love this app. The only thing I would change is getting to see past results with out having to talk for a minute.

Not accurate at all. I raised my voice to the highest it can go which is the equivalent of a “stereotypical Loli” and then compared it to my regular voice... somehow my regular voice came out more feminine than the high voice- I know for a fact it is not nearly as high.

Helps with gender dysphoria!!. I got this app because my voice is changing because of puberty and that kind of made me dysphoric as i want to be androgynous. the app told me i sounded androgynous and i want to cry from happiness thank you!!

Doesn't work. I'm a man and when I used my normal voice the bar was lower in the male zone, but when I tried again with a deeper voice, it went higher into the female zone. Also it isn't the most helpful app, because there's no explanation of the graph. Doesn't tell you why your bar is big or small or why it's placed where it is on the graph.

Simple. I use it to slowly lower my voice and I keep track of my progress. Nothing fancy

Homerun. No complaints here works as intended gives detailed feedback on high, medium and low voice pitch!

Wish for Other Platform Version. When I first found out about this app, I was hoping it would have the tools and tracking that is featured on the other platforms that this app is available. While it is still nice to have, the app doesn’t have as much functional use for me.

The stories…. The app it covers it’s function perfectly, but… why are the stories so dark?..

Confused?. I was under the impression that this was a voice training app where it would record your current pitch AND THEN give you tips on how to move it towards something you want. As far as I can tell, it isn’t, if your looking for tips to help train your voice, this isn’t the app, if your looking for some place to keep track of how your voice sounds while going on HRT or while doing voice training somewhere else, this is great for that.

Want to see results. I’d really like if I could see all of my past readings, and to not have to do a reading to see them. When I want to show my friends my vocal progress, I don’t want to have to sit there and read for a minute before they can see it, and I want to see all of them that I’ve done, not just the current and 1 previous

I thought this would help train my voice. I was on Tiktok and this was advertised to me by someone as a voice training app, which it is not but it was pretty helpful in finding out that my voice is considered androgynous

easy and fun to use. im a trans person who has been using this app to track voice changes. i love getting to see the history across recordings. it would be nice if you could see recording history without recording a new sample. i've also found that the reading samples provided end super early, up to 30 seconds earlier, before the 1 minute recording period ends. i still really love the app despite these minor things.

Not helpful. The app just tells youIt’s a range of your pitch but not how to increase it or lower it depending upon the audience and the material being presented definitely not worth the premium price. It just says female, androgynous, or male. It would be a better app if it gave information about how to lower the pitch or to add variation in the internation. I know I’m a woman and it’s female look like Elizabeth Holmes sometimes it’s good to have a lower voice pitch for certain businesses and serious discussions.

Lame updates. The new update (which deleted all the history) doesn’t show the last records under the chart anymore. I recorded twice just now and it doesn’t show any of them on the bottom with the date and hz numbers

Very basic but helpful for me. I'm trying to inch my natural speaking pitch down past the androgynous range where it's always been. This is the best app I've found so far. No bells and whistles, just a straight pitch analyzer. It could do with a few more features, maybe options to keep track of previous measurements and some analytics as to how your voice has changed over time. Overall though it's just what I want.

It works just as it was advertised. My only real complaint is that it gives a range instead of a specific number of hz, that being said, it’s fine since the range usually isn’t too big and at the same time, it works as advertised and tells me where i'm at

Good but Also Messed Up. I’ve been using the app for a little over a month and I’ve liked it. But now when I record myself, it doesn’t save the recording. The whole point of my using the app is to track the changes of my voice over time - but now it doesn’t save or track. I even bought a month subscription, thinking that would help but it still is not saving my recordings.

Great app that should be like a journal. I’m undergoing my transition and think it would be awesome if the app recorded our pitches like a journal and would show progression

bad taste. there is something inherently sinister about developing an app catered to dysphoric transmasculine people then making it completely pink and only letting users change it if they pay for premium. it doesn't bother me personally but obviously many will feel uncomfortable with an all-pink app. i would've bought premium otherwise, but because of this slimy strategy i will not be financially supporting. about the app's features, they are very simplistic but serve their purpose. i think it could be improved if there was an option to add text to entries so you can make note of which vocal techniques you used to produce the range, whether it's your deepest/highest voice or your normal voice, etc.

I’m glad this exists. Man, my voice is really deep. And I’ve been looking for a way to make it higher and I’ve heard of voice training but this app really helps with that motivation. I’m so thankful

Very upset. I've been using this app for a year now tracking my voice and then its gets updated and i lost ALL my results. On top of that you've literally added the hardest literature to read out loud, and it scrolls so fast i can barely keep up. This is v upsetting..

Gendered Terms, but works well.. I believe that it’s a fun app, and seems to work well. I would work on changing the gendered terms, as to make the app more accepting to all people.

Great app. Love that it’s free and has no ads, I’ve also found that it’s very accurate as long as you use a recording that’s 30 sec or longer

Won’t capture recording anymore. The past several times I’ve tried to record myself, I receive an error that says there was not an adequate sample obtained, after I push record and read the entire passage. I could previously use the app with no problem. Additionally, I wish the app stored recordings, with dates, and also tracked the voice range over time. I’m having to do all this with other apps, and on spreadsheets, and it’s frustrating to not be able to do it in one place.

does its job. Not gonna lie, finally being allowed download this app after a long time was pretty dang underwhelming. But for the little it does, it does it well I suppose. If I (and others) wanted more, it obviously wouldn't be free. Pretty much just a simple, straightforward, but well-made app.

Fantastic app. I love this app I just have a question, how does it measure the femininity or masculinity of a voice? Is it done by pitch, tone or accent? Is it a mix or?

Terrible. Asks for a one minute read out but doesn’t have a timer and if you think it has been a minute and it hasn’t it makes you start all over. Once it has finally worked it then doesn’t really tell you anything and it vanishes so you can’t view it again. Waste or time.

App messed up?. It worked amazingly for me for about a month and I’ve been analysing my voice and it really really helped, yet all of a sudden all my voice data/stats disappeared and now when I do it it doesn’t work

Used to be good. Used to analyse my voice but now when I do it nothing comes up after to tell me the range of my pitch..

Didn’t even record. The app didn’t work at all :( I’m really disappointed.

Really fascinating!. My teen boys voices are changing and it’s cool to have some measure of how much. It’s also interesting to see how our voices change when talking seriously vs. just chatting vs. animated vs. joking. Great stuff, thank you Carols and David!

Good app bad UI. So I’ve been using this app for a hot minute I love it I just wish the UI would work on my iPhone 8, I can’t access any menus to look at the history and when I’m done a recording I can’t even look at the data because it’s shifted off centre way off on the right side of my screen

DO NOT DOWNLOAD IF YOUR DYSPHORIA IS BAD. The app works fine. but for the love of god if you are looking for any validation for your identity do not come here (especially if you are pre-T/E). I have a deep/androgynous voice according to most people but this app says otherwise. It’s good if you want to see your progress on hormones but otherwise it will whoop your self confidence into an oblivion. But remember regardless of what any app says you are absolutely valid and deserve to feel comfortable, accepted and respected for your identity. Stay safe out there my trans buddies.

Doesn’t do anything.. From what I can tell the app doesn’t actually do anything. Spoke in my normal voice, got one result. Deliberately spoke way higher pitched and got a lower pitch result showing. Same with others who tried. Just seems to spit out a random result.

nice tool, wish it had more features tho. the pitch analyzing is really nice, but there isn’t much you can really do with the app. you can record another log and see how it compares with previous logs, but that’s it. i wish there was an option where you can listen back on your logs or at least see them without having to make another log to access them.

App works but sample passages contain literal slurs. Damn the book they get you to read from is like quite racist - feels v weird that those passages were kept in

update ruined it. before the last update it worked just fine, could record and stuff. now when i hit “start recording” i cant actually record anything, it starts and ends within a fraction of a second but the screen shows the text, the timer without it starting and the “stop recording” button. needs fixing

Usability?. I understand that the app has to record your reading but why that story?? I'm dyslexic and hafe the time I was struggling to read what I fond "difficult" words as the story moved upward.

I used to like this app. I used to enjoy this app but after an update it no longer tracks past recordings for a progress chart or show the specific reading for the recording. With out these features it seems very basic and mostly obsolete.

A great port so far!. Every port has to start somewhere, and I love the beginnings of seeing this app on iPhone finally! Very happy and hope it continues development.

Uh nah it Dosnt work correctly. So I did a little test I spoke in my highest pitched voice (I’m a female) and then it resulted all the way in the bottom of the male range I did this test several times

Between My Wife And Me, Apparently We’re Both Masculine XD. Got this app to compare voice, pitch, and gender relations for study. My wife and me both got a masculine result. She has a crazy high pitched voice. Something has to be wrong?

crashing. everytime it takes me to the reading screen and i press the recording button the app crashes, when i exit out the app and restart it, it takes me back to the same screen. i’ve even deleted the app twice and it still took me to the same screen which is super strange.

Not really worth it. This is not the same app offered on Android with the same name and purple/white icon. This app doesn’t provide an overview, pitch overtime or offer more details like the app in Android. Doesn’t even save past recordings of your voice. It just tells you where your pitch falls as far as the range when comes to male, female, androgynous. Wish I hadn’t paid the $4.99 expecting to get more for premium besides changing color themes.

too fast to read, poor quality. you can barely comprehend the prompt because it automatically scrolls, it’s too complicated compared to other apps that work even better than this one

Latest Update Broke the App. This used to be a wonderful app, but the latest update has rendered it unusable (as in you can record, but no results are displayed). The contact the developer link within the app leads to a dead email address.

cool. i like the app n what not but for some reason the app is cut off. i can’t see the bottom of the app that tracks the dates yknow. maybe it’s because i have an iphone 12 mini but it’s just a little annoying. still like the function of the app tho

Know what this app does!. This app analyzes your voice while reading approximately for one minute. It takes the full rage of your voice while reading so try and sound as “natural” as possible. It quantifies the associated hertz level of your voice with the averages of males, females and vocally androgynous individuals. A typical “male” vocal range is from 85 - 180 hertz while a typical “female” range is 165-255. This is a useful app if you are currently working on modifying your voice from one range to another, though do not expect it to give you desirable results in it of itself if you have not put in work to change your voice already. I see a lot of discouragement in the comments but I believe that is because you are looking for vocal modification in the wrong place. Hormones only change voice in ftm patients as it enlarges the larynx while in mtf individuals (such as myself) we have to work and train the muscles in our throat to achieve our desired voice. Do not give up and practice, that is the only way you will get better (cliche I know, but it’s true). If you want resources, the main one that helped me almost entirely was the YouTube page “transvoicelessons”. I hope this helps, be brave and know that your voice is not what validates you, you are valid no matter how you sound you lovely and beautiful human!

Doesnt work. It only goes down to 85 hz so it doesnt pick up your voice below that and thinks I have a median talking range of about 90 hz.

Its ok. It works but im a trans male and i hate my voice so being called femme makes me dysphoric

Not Reliable. The deeper you go the more feminine it is, and the higher you go the more masculine it is. It doesn’t make sense.

good app. this made my voice dysphoric but it’s okay when I’m trying to train my voice to drop but it’s very cool and so original

The Text. The text that I had to read, (well I didn’t really HAVE to, but I would rather read text) made me feel uncomfortable and I didn’t want to read it. Please remove it and maybe I’ll get it again. Maybe something lighter.

Worked for few weeks. Then the app wasn’t able to record my voice anymore and it upsets me a lot. Please fix this bug

this really did not help my dysphoria. as a trans man, i expected to be more in the androgynous range but i was on the female side every time. it was always there no matter how much i tried to deepen my voice, no matter how much i changed my tone it was always in the same spot.

good. the app works well, just make sure nothing else around you is making noise. i had a fan on and fell into high female range. i turned the fan off and immediately fell to low male range. so be aware of that, i guess.

would love a chart or something to see trends over time. great app though otherwise

No longer works. On iphone at least. It used to be easy and efficient to use, now it constantly displays the message “Not enough samples” no matter the length of time spent recording; rendering it essentially useless now.

Can’t hear the recordings. Purchased lifetime premium and I can’t even hear my own recordings? Bummer. Thought the app would be more user friendly than that
