Excellent app. I’m a photographer specializing in nature photography. I love photographing lightening and sometimes we get great opportunities here in South Texas. Thunderstorms tend to have a fairly short life cycle, so you have to be able to get out there and set up quickly. You have to be in the right place at the right time. This app is an outstanding tool for that purpose. The detection and plotting of lightening strikes is very near real time. The push notices are excellent. I love that you can set the radius for alerts and set a schedule for silencing them. Many thanks to the folks that created this. Outstanding!

Possible Security Issue.. I installed this app to help with notifications of lightning strikes in the area. We have an antenna and mast that stands in our back yard. When storms are in the area, we lower our antenna to reduce the chance of a strike. This app, I thought at the time, would be a great help. Once installed, and permission given for notifications, it seemed to work fine later that day when it notifies us of lightning strikes in the area. That’s when I noticed something else about the app. I started getting warnings about possible security issues on our home network. They were identified as coming from same Internal IP address as my iPad. Only my iPad, and nothing else. After several check and further warnings from our network, I removed the app. I have not had those warnings since. I’ll leave it up to Apple and you as to whether you should install it. As for us, we will not be using it. I have never had an app trip our security before, and nothing since removing it.

Fabulous App. I have had this app since I got another iPhone a few years back. Granted I Do have some crazy Luck in the electronics aisle. I also was in it so much that it wasn’t even for a Real good reason and blowing money but getting phones regularly for some strange stroke of luck that followed Me around. But, since I have this iPhone, we and my lightening app are great together. It’s interesting to have. Jenn

Get it.. This app is amazing, I live in FL with frequent random thunderstorms and kids that like to swim. This app is so accurate down to the exact spot - I watched lightning hit 5 houses down and checked the app and it showed exactly where it hit and it was 400ft away from my location. Other times during a storm, I’ve received an alert then saw lightning and the app buzzed before we even heard the thunder! It’s almost instantaneous. A must have app!!

BOOM!. This app has come a long way. Today I’m watching thunderstorms march across the US Midwest. With thousands of strikes shown on the screen the app started to lag… so I’m here to upgrade and check out the stability improvements! I love the lightning alerts and adjustable alert radius. I only need to remember to open the app when I’m working out of town to reset the alert location. I love being able to zoom in on a single strike to see how close it may have been to populated areas! I wish the “thunder” alert sounds were louder or more noticeable. I don’t always hear those, so I’ve been using the whistle sound. A nice crackly thunderclap should do the trick…

Michael White. I’ve been enjoying this app for about a year from the perspective of one who photographs lightning. It does a good job of alerting me of local lightning strikes. The recent addition of radar is a big help. The only things I could ask for is a 15, 30, 60 minute playback to better see where it’s coming from and where it’s going. Otherwise, best lightning related app!

Love it!. I have always been super fascinated in thunderstorms. This tracker is the best I’ve come across. It alerts you when lightning is near, it shows where they are most likely to strike, the clouds, and more. Most of the time, the clouds and strikes don’t fully load. So, it’s hard to tell where to look for strikes. But that’s the only problem I have ever had with this app but trust me, it’s still worth it.

A very useful app !. I’m a pilot and like most wingnuts we are kind of weather geeks. However this is real world , relevant intel that is pertain-able to safe operations. Took a lot of classes in college over the course of 6 years of study ( don’t laugh , I finally graduated after changing my major 3 times ). Meteorology was probably the most useful knowledge I acquired & Calculus being the least applicable info I think that I ever had to digest ( heartburn ) . Get this app and you’ll. Be surprised how much you’ll use it. Keeping the family safe during the kids outdoor sporting events, or summiting the Grand Teton in a summer afternoon. Knowing the proximity of lighting is critical. Read “ Bolt from the Blue “ and other stories of climbing and the hazards of Lighting. GREAT APP !

Saving lives and stealing wives.. Relax, I just wanted to get your attention. This app is an such an invaluable tool. Also, I’ve waited several years of using this app before writing my review. So if you live in an area like Washington State specifically in areas like mine. It’s the high desert with multiple types of thick vegetation and dense forests. Well occasionally we have storms producing dry lighting. Our problem is that we are a state that has poor forest management and limited resources. I said all that to say this. I’m pretty thankful for the app. It’s accurate to the point that we have responded to lightning strikes before dispatch even notified us of the fire it caused. This happened more than once, saving property as well as limiting the amount of resources it would normally take for such fires. Sköl, app developers! I appreciate you.

Reliable lightning alert app but could use a little tweaking. This app for seeing detected and getting alerted of real-time lightning strikes is pretty good and actually does its job alerting you about them for the most part through push notifications. And the alerting time interval and radial distance settings are also a very good and useful +. But, I really wish that the push notifications alert messages would also include the DISTANCE of the nearest / latest strike instead of just displaying that lightning was detected. Then, the alerting aspect would be A Lot more useful if this was also included every time the app is set to alert you, despite the radial distance set from the location. This is because I'd want to know how close the latest strike is. Especially if the storm(s) is moving toward set location for push alerts.

Very useful. I enjoy capturing low frequency radio clicks from lightning strikes, photographing lighting, and am hoping to attempt sprite observation this summer. The radar maps in this app are tremendously useful for all of these endeavors. The app does ALMOST everything I want it to. My only suggestion would be to add the ability to be notified of lightning strikes in an alternate area besides just your current location. As per the previously mentioned sprite observation, it would be useful to be notified of thunderstorms within a certain corridor to the east of my location. That way, when combined with clear sky condition notifications from AstroSpheric for my observing locations (east of the Rockies, looking out over the plains), I can know when my best chances of actually spotting sprites will be happening.

Push notifications not working. Had the app open during a thunderstorm. Watched the map update with nearby strikes. Never received a notification of lightning in the area. I adjusted the radius multiple times but no change. Unable to report a problem because the link isn’t working. Update: notifications don’t sound when the app is open. Since I left my original review I’ve had to reset my phone and change some settings. The next storm came through and I received several notifications. I work outside so it is extremely helpful having this app to stay safe. Thanks for the app!

Can you update a mini feature. First off an amazing app. On the iPhone can you make the notification automatically take you to the last or most recent strike when you Click on notifications. And do you have a feature to be able to know when the last strike hit. Like for an all clear after 30min....For Another notification to be integrated. Would make this the #1 app I think. Thanks.

Very helpful for anxiety of storms. I have a pretty strong phobia of thunderstorms. I love the Lightning app because I often plan long outdoor activities and don’t want to cancel them or worry the whole time if there is a storm risk for the day. With Lightning, I can be notified in real time whenever there are strikes in the area, giving me ample time to react, and not have anxiety about planning it all out ahead of time.

Lightening tracker. I’m somewhat disappointed with this app I throughly that it would be a lot better then ‘his I heart the notifications sounds on my phone but that’s it it doesn’t show me me exact location of the lightening or where it’s coming from there is just this very broad yellow color that’s covering the whole screen like I just said I don’t see where lightening is I just see this very broad yellow color on the entire screen on my cell phone and I don’t know what this means please correct this feature on this app thank you

Simple and effective. This app is not cool. There is nothing exciting about it instead it just works. It’s simple accurate and enables people who live in places where thunderstorms are possible everyday during no summer etc. to work safely through rainstorms. NLSI recommends stopping work for 30 minutes if lightning strikes within 6 mi of you. This simple app takes the guesswork out of enforcing this policy. With the zoom to nearest strike function you simply open the app and it shows you the nearest strike and distance from you. App has radar function and map choice options but that’s it perfect simple I wish more apps were designed to function simply effectively and efficiently and not try to do everything and have too many options. Thank you guys

My lightning tracker mls. This works very well and in a timely manner as I work on a USAF flight line that gets plenty of lightning. It is better to know immediately if you need to take shelter rather than seeing how well you can take a lightning zap. I really like this application and use it all the time. 5 September 2023: still depend on this application, hasn’t let me down, get this one, it alerts as and when you need it to.

Great Sailing App. We have been using this app while sailing for several seasons. Extremely happy with it. It has granted us the forewarning of lightning that might be blowing our direction. We’ve always been able to safely avoid lightning because of this app. Sailboats tend to come equipped with a thirty+ foot lightning rod, making lightning warning extremely important. I never want to be on the water without it. Also, this season we just realized that it has radar also. It’s nice to switch to the radar function to see what’s coming up, but we have been extremely happy with being able to choose a diameter with for lightning tracking.

Glad I stumbled across this app. What a lifesaver. Glad I found this tool. Paid for the pro version too. I now use this more than any other weather app. I don’t mind a little rain. I do mind lightning. If I could make one small suggestion, I’d request that verbiage such as “increasing the value” be more clear to something like “increasing the frequency.” In terms of time on the vertical scale, I perceive increasing a value in two ways; either an increase in frequency (up the scale) or an increase in number (down the scale, reduced frequency). Thanks much for saving lives!!!

Excellent app for free. I generally don’t rate or promote apps, but this lightning app is surprisingly good for free. Gives real time lightning strikes, and better radar than the weather channel. But what was real cool is the accuracy of the GPS and map. We were hiking, came to a fork and weren’t sure which was to go. Since lightning storm was close I had the app up and it showed exactly where we were, showed the trails, showed as we moved on the trails, and showed the storm and lightning strikes. Highly recommend.

Great app. The mileage could be more controllable.. The app is great, but I with you could type in the number for the settings of the distance for the alert. There is a specific distance that is important to my job, and it would be great to be able to set one alert for just outside that distance and one for that actual distance, but it is difficult to get the numbers right on the slider.

Most accurate location I have found. Other apps are miles off sometimes. I have found this app to be dead on every tome I use it. Would give it 5 stars if I could enter a number in for the radius. It’s frustrating to dial in on the exact number I need for the radius.

Best lighting tracker there is!!. I am a Ham Radio Operator, this app gives me the perfect live data I need to know when to disconnect my antennas. The adjustable settings for lighting alerts is simply amazing. I leave mine set at 30 miles, that’s plenty of time to see the alert and be able to disconnect antennas, you can set it from 0-200 miles for your preference. Being able to zoom in and out around the world and see what a storm is doing somewhere else is a interesting feature in this app. Being able to click on individual strikes to see the distance from your location is a great feature as well. Only time this feature has bothered me is when it said 30ft HIHI. If you need a accurate live lighting map that allows all these features for free this is the one.

Very accurate. I’m not one to write reviews but figured I might as well put it in writing since I’ve told so many people. I downloaded this app once moving to Florida (with all these crazy summer Florida lighting storms like I’ve have never seen before) and I go into the pool and hot tub very regularly which is why I looked for app for lighting. This app has been correct every single time. When I hear my phone go off with the warning you betcha I get out of the pool.

I love this app!. This app is a life saver for someone like me, who is terrified of lightning to the point of not leaving where I am until it’s gone. I can monitor how close the lightning is and I can see when it stops, and I can see if a storm is heading in my direction. I base when I leave places on stormy days around this app. Sometimes I’ll hear a strike outside and I’ll open up this app and I’ll see exactly where it hit. I definitely recommend for anyone who loves or hates lightning, and I’m really grateful that this app exists.

Lightning Detection. I will keep track what had happened during these extreme weather events and I will be used to that in the Australia, in the outback in places like Alice Springs in the Australia’s Northern Territory are tracking storms hit in the summer months while it is winter here and lightning strikes can be bad hit the areas of NT in the Australian outback. There are so lightning strikes in the Lasseter district , in the areas like in Yulara, in the township near Uluru has places hit hard during storms with the most cloud to ground lightning strikes hit the area and take precautions to be safe during a lightning storm. Lightning is one of the most powerful forces of nature and it is very dangerous when lightning strikes. Please be careful aware of severe thunderstorms hit the area in the Northern Territory, Australia.

The best lightning tracker!. The app allows you to customize the alert radius you desire, there are several notification sounds to choose from, and the strikes disappear from the alert radius at time frames you specify. So if your company has a policy that no outside work can occur if lightning is within 10 miles and you can’t return to work for 30 minutes after lightning has left the 10 mile radius, it’s really easy to determine. I paid for Pro to thank the developer!

Baseball safety. I am an assistant coach with a little league team in the cooler Georgia. We enjoyed getting the boys out to play ball but are also very careful to and sure that they are kept safe. This app allows us to manage game times and plan around springtime thunderstorms. Some of the fields we play on have automatic lightning detection systems installed but for those that don’t this app is a lifesaver.

My Golf Buddies Now Listen. In the past, (before getting the app) I would warn my golf buddies that we probably shouldn't be out playing when thunder was present and lightning visible in the distance. They would come up with a number of excuses why we should just play and take our chances and get the round over with. Since getting the app, I'm now able to objectively show them the actual lightning activity and the direction the storm is traveling. They no longer call me a "baby" about thunderstorms because they can see for themselves whether or not we're in the line of fire. Many of them have since loaded the app on their phone. I highly recommend this app for anybody and everybody! My only suggestion is that they add a "resource tab" of information and links on the do's and don'ts when it comes to experiencing thunderstorms.

Very accurate produc. I have been interested in photographing lightening for several years. I live in West Virginia. It is difficult to determine when and where lightening is going to be during a storm due to our mountainous terrain. This app is perfect. Not only does it give me adequate location, I get it by address and distance from my current location. Game changer for me.

Every referee/ official should get this App.. Very easy to read and understand. The settings for distance allow you to tailor your notices to whatever league rules are applicable. You then only get notices when lightening is within that distance. You can focus on the game and once you get your notice, it is easy to share the information too.

Totally Awesome App. I’m able to track approaching storms as far out as I want to, but I keep it to around 8 miles out. The lightning strikes are almost real-time. It has became a vital part of our local public radio station. I rely on this app to tell me how close the lighting strikes are to the station. Very good app if you want real-time accuracy of the storms approaching your area.

Most Reliable Weather App. Cannot say thank you enough for providing this app for use to the public. I have horses and it’s dangerous for them to be outside when thunderstorms pop up due to the steel shoes they wear. I watch all of my weather apps religiously (both paid and free), and still it’s the Lightning app that gives me the most advanced heads up of inclement weather. More than once it’s woken me up at 2 am alerting me about an incoming storm, after putting the animals outside for the night with a 0% chance of storms from other apps. Huge thank you for this tool. It’s immensely beneficial.

Updated review (was: Latest update is broken). Update: the developer responded to this review to let me know that there was a temporary issue that caused a disruption. I got the sense it was a problem external to the app. It seems to be fine now and I give high marks for the developer that took time to respond. Previous 1 star review text follows...This used to be reliable, but the latest update seems to have completely broken it. Will alert me, but not show me lightning strikes on the map. Then it hangs when I try to select my location. If I move the map and then relocate myself (when I can get that feature to work) it will then show strikes. Kind of useless now.

Amazing. When posting is remove you there just happens to be a very strong thunderstorm and lots of warnings in my area this really helped to tell me where all the thunder and lightning was I loved how you had thunder noises to pick the notification that was really cool I chose thunder 2 this app can really help you and make sure instead of doing the location while using the app I chose always and found that you’ll get better notifications annoying if there’s actual lightning strikes with the location on always you can choose different sounds or you can choose the amount of radius you want the lightning thing to be I really enjoy this app and I really want everyone to get this app it is super amazing please get it thank you 🙂

A MUST have app for the stormy south!. I down loaded this app few years ago to utilize during the summer time to watch for lightning within a certain mileage when swimming in a swimming pool here in Florida. I love that I get notifications to get out of the water within 10 miles. The only thing about this app that seems a but far-fetched is the accuracy of an actual lightning strike. how they can exactly pinpoint where a strike occurs? Overall is an Awesome app and I utilize it along with my other weather tracking apps frequently during the summertime storm season👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Easy to read warnings even without GPS. This app provides warnings about lightning nearby. I didn’t want to kill my battery and have my location and use all the time so I disabled the location monitoring for this app except for when the app was in use. Even without having the app open, I still get a notification of lightning nearby. If I want my information I can get into the app and see what is specific but even without having app open the information is good.

Great lightning detection! Would like to see “saved location” feature!. This is one of the best lightning detection apps out there! Reliable strike data, color coded time dots, and nice push notifications. I would love to see the ability to add some saved locations to the app and send push notifications based on those saved locations. You can manually turn off the auto-update location feature to have the app just fixed on one point and notify based on that point but then you lose current location notifications. Having a saved location in addition to current location would help me to monitor lightning at a sports practice location for example.

A Must Have! Intuiative & Accurate. I use this app at home & professionally. I am Wildland Firefighter / Paramedic and also work as a Paramedic with Remote Exploration Crews. “My Lightening Tracker” is invaluable. I have use other weather Apps that work quite well but “My Lightening Tracker” is the best for tracking lightning. It is my “go to” to keeps my family, crews & me safe. I use it to track potential wildfire starts after storms because the accuracy has proven itself time and time again. I used the free Version for a long time, but the $3.99 for “Pro” has been money well spent! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Nice app!. It seems much more accurate than NBC 12’s here near Richmond, VA; the radar colors are much brighter, too. I wish it had is a “past/future/past and future” slide play radar option, and maybe a longer timeline than fifteen minutes. Great app! Thank you!

Easy to use, understand and be alerted. The app is easy to use. The strike location points change color based on age which makes clear where the most recent activity is. It was useful the following night when some storms were cruising by at a distance and I setup my tripod and cam to get some shots from the balcony. I would have missed it otherwise. Not considered in the rating as the radar feature is new. Radar is presented as static current view (no animation of recent movement). Some of the tiles don’t load and with no refresh button I can’t force it to reload it easily. I just bought the paid version to support the app dev and remove the ads.

Highly recommended notification !. I really like the thunder notifications when there is an indication or lightning within my area . It is the work horse for us at public events , or when I’m camping ! I also work in the public safety arena and it gives up a heads up when we are outside .

Lightening app. I found this app in a search and thought it would benefit my service as a flight instructor...maybe. I have not been able to make it locate my position. As such, it defaults to Europe when opening. Seems to be accurate and updated in the pictorial display. Update: With a little review, I found the error is mine. This app now works great!

Very Misleading. This app is going to get someone killed. There is no such thing as any sort of free real time lightning detection. As this app builder may want to research there are some big legalities behind providing lightning data to the public. I use a commercial weather company which does provide real time lightning data provided by the NLDN. In the example I just ran it shows 1 strike about 12 miles from my location. Where my commercial app shows 179 within my 8 mile “do not be outside” range. I let this app run for 15 minutes as it again states and nothing changed. If you need this for more then personal use do some research on real weather companies.

Very helpful!!. This app is great - we have dogs who are terrified of lightning and thunder, and it really helps to know that’s it’s headed our way. If storms have not been forecasted, or if we have a bright blue, sunny sky, yet a storm is just five miles away, it gives us time to get the Thundershirts out and the calming treats started! Also, we watched on the app’s map once, as lightning moved right up our street, and it’s very accurate. It said we had a strike 70ft. away in our backyard, and we sure did. The accuracy is amazing!

Truly Great. Your lighting alarm no longer works!! Someone correct this glitch. In the center up on top of my iPhone Mac Plus screen there is a red bell that shows up with a line through the bell every time I would touch the volume button on the left hand side of the phone. I have done what I could to get the red bell un muted but it but it keeps coming up muted it seems. That’s the only thing I notice could be causing the volume not to be heard. I truly apologize it’s just frustrating when lighting does happen the phone will flash but with no volume.

Great Product. I found your app when my lightning alert on another app stopped working. I downloaded and setup the app for a 35 miles radius! Today, about 3 weeks after I installed it, it alerted me to lightning just coming into range(35 miles). My radar and weather app said nothing until it was with in 10 miles!!!! I work outside and as soon as it appeared to be headed towards me, I sought shelter. A REALLY GREAT APPLICATION, I would recommend it to anyone.

VERY COOL & SUGGESTION. Love this app it’s super useful and really cool to see lightning happening in real time! Small suggestion would be to make this app an Audio Unit & IAA for experimental musicians & people into modular where each lighting strike is sent out as midi data that music, visualizer, or generative apps could connect with and use to create in sync with lighting happening. Regardless I love the app and am happy to have it. Thanks so much :)

Great app that could use some minor adjustments. Really love this app. It’s been great to track storms moving through the area, especially if I’m working in the field. I have noticed that sometimes it shows very few lightning strikes compared to actual strikes and I usually have to reboot the app to get a more accurate view. I also wish there was a way to zoom in to the most recent strike; not just the closest. I’d like to see if the storm is increasing in intensity or decreasing. Other than that, it’s a great app and I’d highly recommend it.

Thankyou lightening tracker people. Handy for keeping an eye on local possible fire activity due to lightening, am a firefighter in the country , lightening without rain must be monitored, this app magic cheers

Radar not working. Every update for this app makes the radar worse. It used to show rain easily but now it takes a while or doesn’t show at all. When it does load it’s in patches and if I zoom out it disappears and doesn’t show up unless I quit and go back in. Hopefully it gets fixed because it’s my favourite part of the app.

Suggestions:. App is great don’t get me wrong, but the radar, doesn’t even work most of the time and that’s predominantly why I got the app, due to it being able to predict the radar for the future. Please fix this annoying issue

BEST THING EVER. I have a massive phobia of thunderstorms which really impact my life and the ability to go outside and even drive. This app has allowed me to regain control of the unknown of a thunderstorm and be able to track where it moves. This is the best app ever for anyone with a fear of thunderstorms!!

Not loving the updates. I am a storm chaser and used to absolutely love this app, but since the new update not loving it. Super slow now and glitches. I have to constantly zoom in and out to get the radar working properly. Very frustrating as this was my go too app.

Good but. Works well. For fire fighting purposes it would be great if it could show strikes over a longer time period of up to 48hrs.

Amazing for my dog. I have a dog that gets very anxious about thunder and her medication takes 30-40 mins to take affect. The fact that this sends alerts to me means I can get her calmed down before it even hits. Such a good idea!

Excellent. Great app, and very reliable, able to track storms and where lightning is, I tested it during a recent storm, a bolt landed east of us and within 60 seconds it came up on the app, right where it was supposed to. I love it!

Amazing!. Lightening tracker is an amazing app that brings absolute real time lightening strikes to your current position. I have seen and heard lightening and thunder seconds apart only to see the actual strike position appear very close to me on the app map less than a minute later. This is one of the few apps where I have taken occasional screen shots of lightning activity and shared them with friends and family. Amazing!

Very useful. My dog is terrified of thunderstorms and needs a pill, which often doesn’t kick in for an hour or so. This has given me plenty of warning since I’ve had it. It’s made life so much easier.

I use this app all the time. I can’t remember how I discovered this app, but I find it more reliable than other weather apps by setting an alert for lightning strikes so I can know when a storm is coming, to get washing off the line or plan the rest of my day (if walking somewhere). Really useful!

Marvellous. This app does everything required. It locates and notifies on a map where and how close the lightning is. With a range out to 300km + this app shows the history of the strikes and the direction of the storm. Great if you are outdoors and within cell range.

Must have if you get struck by lightning often. As someone who has metal plates in their body and humans are 80% water i am a lightning magnet that’s been struck many times. Thanks to Lightning Tracker I can now avoid possible death by lightning strike. Best app to avoid being hit by Thor’s hammer…

Very useful. We live on a boat. There is nothing worse than getting woken up middle of the night when a storm is upon you. With this app we are now notified when lightning within Xkm of us. To us, this is a great safety feature.

The best app for sure. I’m a bit of a weather geek and this is by far my favourite app. Being I to weather photography, I can get a very accurate location for lightning and storms. But PLEASE….can we get Apple Watch support…?

One of my favourites. I have a dog that is reactive to storms. This app helps me so much. It gives me lightening warnings at a distance from home set by me. We can then monitor throughout the storm. It is also so interesting to look at different parts of the State, Country, World and see the amazing amount of lightening going on. One of my favourite apps.

Such a shame. This app was fantastic while we were in a country they actually cover, don’t be fooled this app barely covers any of the continents. You’ll only get strike data for a handful of countries be sure to download the free one first to see if your somewhere they actually cover. It sure why they say they cover the world when really it’s really o my a couple of spots.

Love it!. I like it! I love it! It's one of the best lightening apps there is. When I'm playing another app this lightening app will let me know via a pop out window when there is lightening in my area without me having to leave my game or what I am doing in another app, this is so handy and convenient to have. Great app, missing one feature though. Super handy app for HSE working on a mine site, ability to track lightning and advise site. Would be extra handy having another option of ‘only notify if a strike is closer than the previous closest strike’. In the middle of a lightning storm, dropping radius to 50km still gets dozens of strikes, but the guys can continue working, yet the app consistently advises of new strikes. Having it notify of CLOSER strikes, to monitor if it’s actually getting nearer, would be handy, rather than having to open app and discover the latest alert is actually further away. Yes, I can change the radius of the notification, but this should be user oriented, not up to me to have to manually change radius after every closer strike.

Accurate. Seems to be the most accurate app for showing lighting strikes around my area over the others around. Also like the notifications of strikes in area and the notifications are not to far behind the event

No nearby strikes show on map. There’s been a thunderstorm happening for the last 30 minutes or so and I received a notification there was lightning in the area, but there’s no strikes showing on the map.

Safety Tool. We use this app for alerting our workers in the field. We work with electrical component’s and metal structures. Very useful tool.

Great little app for storm chasing. I really like this app! I’m a storm chasing photographer, this is a handy app for tracking the movement of storms through my area. The only improvement I’d like to see is a longer history period, 1 hour is not enough to allow someone to track the progress of a storm system, just me 2 cents.

Rain doesn’t show majority of the time with new update. Liked the rain screen prior to update but now rarely shows rain

Works great with one exception. First this app is great for detecting lightning and yes it does cover Canada. I use it for hiking and boating as well as during search and rescue work as a volunteer. The one area where the app could be greatly improved is with a dynamic radar function. Right now all you get is a static radar image with no indication of the direction a storm is moving. Cross referencing with a weather app fills in the gap but it would be nice to have a radar image that both showed recent strikes and the direction of a storm.

FIX YOUR APP PLEASE. Storm clouds only show up 25% of the time when hitting play. 👎

Seems like a game changer … more control would be nice…. This has the potential to really increase safety for outdoor activities- great! -fumbled around in settings for a while and thought I would like to see some more options with respect to controlling the notifications and when the app is running in the background … a simple toggle on the main screen to turn monitoring and notifications on / off would suit my use for outdoor activities (climbing and mountaineering) instead of between certain hours of every day — maybe I am missing something

Works sometimes. When information updates it is reliable and accurate. However there seems to be an issue where the banner ads take priority and data for the app will not load. To fix, cancel banner ad with the x and the app data should load.

Intrusive full screen popup ads. App works well but the increasing frequency of full screen popup ads is super annoying and sometimes there is no X visible to close out of them so guess what, no lightning for you. Keep that up and it will be deleted, otherwise would be 5 stars.

I’m a grown man. Still terrified by lightening… it’s like saving Private Ryan a good hit you at any moment. But this gives us reasonable piece of mind at least.

Great lightning tracker ⚡️. Good, dependable tracker app. Not sure if you can possibly add a lightning tracker widget, similar to Weather Bug. They are the only weather providers that provide the legacy widget live lightning tracker, but no one has yet created an IOS 16 home screen widget app for this. Even Weather Bug's new home screen widget does not provide lightning tracking, only their old widget..(I've made several reviews for this to no avail..) Maybe your app can include an IOS 16 home screen widget for a live lightening tracker?? (distance in kms) I love storm chasing. 🙏🏻⛈️

Accurate. This helps me find out which direction the Thunderstorms are coming from and where it’s hitting. It seems pretty accurate to me since it matches things in real life

Great tool for work.. We have to shut down at work when lightning is within 20 miles of work site due to Heavy Equipment operations. This app is a reliable tool that we use to verify storms in our vicinity. Takes the guess work out of it.

Map. The mapping you are using is a few years old, maybe older. The app itself works great otherwise. A really great tool!!

Very accurate fantastic, pre-warning. The lightning app is indispensable both when I am sailing and when I am coaching outside. Being able to set the radius warning for lightning has kept myself, my students and my boat safe. I rate this app five out of five.

Seems to work correctly. I am a wildland fire engine capt. I keep track of many variables to assist my crew in preparation of possible wildfires, I have recently downloaded this app for tracking lighting.. App seems to work as it is intended along with notifying me when a bolt is as close or far as I set the miles to strike Notification.. very simply, if you don’t like it delete it or if you like real time notifications use it...

Accuracy and reliability. I am a professional mariner. I find the Lightning notifications to be quick and accurate. This app has proven its value for over a year for me. You can trust it. And yes, I was hit by lightning once. Once. I don’t intend on doing it again.

Great app for staying safe when there is lightning. Love this app. It’s very useful for knowing when there is possible danger of lightning especially when we are swimming. Sometimes it’s just overcast and one thinks it’s safe to be swimming but this lets me know right away to get out of the water.

Strikes on app nearby but not visible and no Lightning. Excellent app. Very accurate. But today, it showed lightning strikes within a few miles of my location (yes there was a high precipitation cell nearby which up to that point had produced nothing visible or audible) but no visible lightning or thunder. However, within 10 min or so we had a few visible lightning strikes. Any explanation for this? Cloud to cloud lightning inside the cell and sound of thunder not audible due to wind direction or height within the cell? Static discharges inside the cell? Regards Robert Meister

History?. I think there should be a way to see the history of strikes. Sometimes I get notifications in the middle of the night and I don’t see them until the morning. I’d like to know how close they were to my house. Is there a way to do that?

Very useful app. Very useful but beware of the security breach it creates. When the app has created notifications on iphone 12 lock screen anyone can tap notification and directly open the app and then go directly into phone unlocked without having to enter passcode or face recognition.

Close to the ideal solution. I wanted an app that will tell me when lightning was close enough to freak out my sensitive dog. This does the trick, mostly. I would love for the radar to have a much higher resolution so that I could see precisely where the storm edge is. Also, if there was a map layer that showed the wind direction and speed I would know how quickly the storm and lightning is approaching.

Wonderful help!. I love being able before kayaking or swimming to pull this out and check for any lightning nearby. The only thing I wish was if it shows the direction the storms are moving. But other than that I’ve been amazed at how accurate it is!

Good for hiking. It’s monsoon season in the southwest which means cooler temperatures but also lighting storms. When I’m going to the mountains I can get a clear picture of where lighting is happening and get real time updates if I need to sprint back to my truck. Essential app for outdoorsy people.

Good app. Been using this quite a while now and am quite happy with it. A few more controls would make it perfect as I can only see strikes in the past hour. I would like four, eight twelve and 24 hour histories available but this doesn’t support that.

The alerts are a great feature. I like the feature that alerts you when lightning strikes have been detected nearby. The app has a radar feature that tracks the location of the storms and where they are headed. Great app for any weather buff.

Don’t put on your kids phone. This app advertised Grand Mafia showing an extended sequence of women being brutalized and crimes being committed. There was no way to clear screen other than let add run its course or killing off the app via hard reboot. Following add was for Botox. Like to know about nearby lightning but not interested in tempting Good Lord to stoke me down while watching your commercials. How do I keep my kids from being subjected to this???

Love this app!. I live in Florida, this app is a must have. Make sure you keep notifications turned on so you know when lightening is near! It’s easy to use and the radar overlay is also wonderful!

OVERPOWERED.. This app is underrated. I’m a teenager who loves tracking lightning strikes. Considering the fact that its free, its very crazy how good this app is, even though it’s not the pro version. This app is just elite and it’s gotta be the lightning app of the future. Very easy to use, as well.

Its a very helpful app.. I use it mostly during fire season. Its very accurate and timely. You set the zone, the intervals and it’s ability to inform you of lightning strikes. I rescue animals during emergencies. This app helps me stay one step ahead of the smoke spotters.

TARGET ON STRIKES. Our personal attorney told us about this amazing app. Whenever lightening is within 15 mi. of our home, we are notified by sounds of thunder from the app itself! The intensity and duration of strikes are helpful when deciding on whether to shelter in place or even when traveling. Great APP!

Best for tracking lighting. Use this all the time. Would be better with a radar that could show future as cells move. Nothing like this if your either into lightning or need to monitor for a safety perspective. When the thunder roars, go indoors!

Essential application for safety. This app can and is a lifesaver if you have children at the park. Remember go to your car if lightning is nearby because your car is safe. Don’t attempt to drive if it’s raining so hard you cannot see. Do not drive through water there is covering the road away

Very good app for lightning tracking. It’s accurate, easy to understand and read. The fact that you can adjust how far out in miles you wanna be alerted is a cool feature. This is a hot popular app in Myrtle beach. Loving the app

Useful yet glitchy. It’s really useful for me- I work as a lifeguard and it’s nice to see how far away lightning is so we can estimate possible pool closings ahead of time. Unfortunately it keeps telling me it cannot download the strikes and to make sure I’m connected to the internet even though every other app works and it even is able to load ads.

Missing features. Although this app shows the lighting strikes, I would like to see history of each strike, fade the old strikes and highlight the new. Also show the thunder with a ring around each new strike. Otherwise it is very informative.

Exactly what I needed!. Producing outdoor concerts and music festivals requires quick, accurate info on developing weather. This app gives me exactly what I was looking for from just the FREE app!! Well done! Don’t change a thing (except maybe the bright yellow color scheme lol)! Don’t sell out!

Trust your gut, not your App. I kept checking this lightning app as I saw a dark sky approaching. The App didn’t say there were any strikes, and I trusted it so I stayed in the pool, however within minutes there’s a massive storm with bolts of lightning everywhere- not sure how/why this happened. Lesson learned - trust your gut, not your App.

Great app but needs one thing. Awesome accurate app. It just needs something at the bottom that explains all the colors. A legend of sorts. I want to know what the green dots are. Etc. but thank you. This has been such a valuable tool

How accurate is this?. This shows a lightning strike having occurred within meters of my home in the last 10minutes, where I know perfectly well no such strike occurred. This does not give me confidence about about any of the other hundreds of strikes shown during the current storm.

I’d pay for better notification options. Only app I see just for this, so that makes it useful! As for notifications options I’d like if I could use better time options. l also would like options to not hear sound if both my phone and watch are home and connected to the WiFi.

Good stuff. I’m hearing impaired and w/o my hearing aids in I don’t hear most thunder. But I’m an outdoorsy person- I use your app when I see threatening skies. It gives me warning of dangerous conditions. I wish it had a vibrate function- be the only improvement I could suggest

Reassuring. I set distance six miles radius and the Alarm (sound of thunder). We get a lot of hit and miss storms in the summer and this way I don’t have to stay in the house. I can look at radar and decide to go for a walk and then a pop up storm can occur. When I hear the alarm I get inside.

Zero problems. Very helpful, easy to use, the app rarely fails to give me a strike notification. I’m on a lake and water safety is our imperative. Cloud to ground can travel 15 miles, and I pay attention to every alert. When will it be available as an Apple Watch complication?

Incredibly useful and clean. Works as expected. When working in trees this has given me time to descend and wait out a storm. When climbing and hiking it’s afforded me the opportunity to make smart choices in seeking cover. Love this app. Simple, clean, and hasnt failed yet.

Only one I use. Others I’ve tried weren’t anywhere close in reliability as this one. Saw one that was a mile away in area of a friend. Called him to ask if he saw anything and it happened in the back of the house

Essential Safety App. My Lightning Tracker is an essential app for Boaters, Golfers, anyone spending time outdoors. The accuracy is amazing, and by adjusting the time limits (usually 15 min or 5 min), you can see the track of a storm more accurately than most radar and weather apps. Remember, getting wet is inconvenient, Lightning is deadly.

Very good app. The information for when and where to expect lightning is very helpful. Knowing when to get in a safe location when you’re working outside is very appreciated.

Love this. I love this app. I use it tons in the summer when we are at the pool or other outdoor events that require knowing not only the weather, but where lightening is. We also love watching it during a storm to see how close the lightening strikes are. Helpful and interesting.

Love this app!!. Definitely a fun app. It was warning me a few hours before we got hit by a major storm. Then when I went on the app I found out we hardly got any of the hits that everyone north of us did! Made it fun to share!

Great app.. I work in a field where there are very few breaks. However there is a policy that says if lightning strikes in a 10 mile radius we have to shut down for 30 minutes. Thanks for letting me know when it's break time.😉

Great Tool. I love this app and Safety First. I got this app as a board member and coach for multiple youth sports. I ended up using it for outdoor recreation and work too. I love the beach, the outdoors and I’m in the construction business. This is a great tool for all of the above mentioned things I’m involved in.

3 stars. Would be 5 stars if the Radar option had future Radar like most weather apps have. Storm Radar is by far the best weather app on the market it doesn’t have the Lightning tracking or that would be an all in one app. So this app is nice to have to see Lightning nearby but if this app would add future radar this would be an all in one app

Best weather program for lightening and radar!. I like the quick response of this app as it pulls up your current location and instantly gives you the storm fronts. I also add the radar to see the overall weather patterns. Then zooming n and out is a breeze.

Decent but... I needs to be able to predict further in time, and it doesn’t have to be super precise but at least give me an idea of where the storm is going. And it could load a little faster too.

Excellent app. I use this app when out on my boat. It’s excellent because it lets you know when lightning is within whatever distance you set allowing you to get back to the marina in a timely manner

I think the old app was better. The new app doesn’t seem to track where I am as good as the old app. I’d like to be able to customize the alarm so it would be more likely to wake me up if I was sleeping when a storm approached.

Only alerts from your current location. I love this app, but I wish I could have it alert me when lightning is around specific locations instead of it just following my location. I work as a swim instructor so knowing if lightning is occurring at the pool I'm teaching in when I'm driving to it would be really helpful!

Fire wise!!. I am a fire chief in eastern Oregon with no news service in our area , so lightning tracker is a very useful tool that I use everyday , I use it for in coming storm alert and strike accuracy for deploying firefighters to areas of concern,

Outdoor Activity Safety. The Lightning App is great for anyone who spends time outdoors, especially on the gulf coast where storms can pop up in a moments notice. From fishing to coaching, I know the Lightning App has my back, notifying me of lightning in the area before I can even hear the thunder. Then, I can check the radar to see if the storm is headed our way.

Unusable on 4s/Revised--Working Fine Now. Love the concept but the app crashes as soon as I open it. No use to me at all. Update: the developer was very responsive, fixed the problem, and now it works fine. Excellent app, especially compared considering it's free.
