Print edition. It is almost impossible to find the print edition. Why isn’t there a link from the main page?

Horrible. After spending 12 minutes on the line with customer service. Uninstalling/reinstalling/changing passwords/logging in online vs the app/finally the rep says they are doing updates and to use the online site for the next 24 hours.

Back Yard Burger Ad kills the ap. I read the CA and Tennessean on my IPhone. For the last two weeks or so, the Back Yard Burger advertisement has been popping up and won’t allow the user to scroll away or close the ap. It’s the most intrusive advertising I’ve experienced. If it’s not fixed soon, I’m going to cancel my subscription. I’ve already sent an email to the designer, but didn’t get a response. In its current status the ap is useless and a waste of money.

New app. Your idea of this new app format is really bad. Harder to navigate!!! You need to get new people to replace those that thought this new app was better than the old one. Change is not always called for

Great coverage!. I still enjoy the CA. They manage to cover national news while still maintaining a local paper feel.

Back yard burger issue. What’s the deal with this pop up blocking the ability to read articles or scroll to other articles? I am deleting the app as it has become unusable.

My Hometown Paper. I have been gone from Memphis for 30 years. It is still my hometown and the CA keeps me in the look as I look forward to retiring there. Good work

Harder to use dice update. Can’t figure out how to log in with existing account. I’ve been a subscriber for years but this recent update has been a problem. Customer service is hard to get on the phone.

Home town updates!. So thankful for this app! I move to Boston and still keep up with the sports 🙏

Needs more. With USA Today ownership, this no longer seems like a local paper. There is not much content for a paper in a city this size. Most articles are very bias. I still read because it’s the only source with some local content available.

Just as bad as the paper. I’ve tried for 2 days to log into my account to ask for delivery of a paper that never came. It welcomes me by name but when I tap my account, it just continues to ask for my login and password. A waste of time to try using the app!

Upgrades a welcome addition. Recent upgrades make the app much more user friendly

Great news. Love getting local updates on what’s going on in Memphis.

Online version. Small town paper. Nothing new so same articles and contributor pieces are posted online for up to two weeks. Shallow reporting rarely answers basic fact gathering. Not many uses of links that would provide greater backstory. Some Okay coverage of state-wide issues because of the ties with Gannett and USA Today network.

trying to cancel subscription. Like many long time subscribers, I am canceling my subscription to the CA - if I can ever reach anyone in Customer Service. The quality of the paper has gone down since Gannett took over, and now there are other local options for better news reporting - The Daily Memphian which is new and the Memphis Flyer and local business journals which have been around a longer time.

Tiger Fan. I left Memphis 28 years ago. I have read the Commercial Appeal since I was 10 years old. I love Memphis and everything (almost) about it. Thank you Commercial Appeal for allowing me the opportunity to stay connected.

Cumbersome app. I have used many news and current event apps and this has to be the least intuitive one I’ve ever used. It is very difficult to navigate and next to impossible to find some information. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Used to Enjoy.... For the past several weeks this app has been crashing like it’s competing in a demolition derby. And no response at all to the emails sent requesting help or explanations. Not even a “Thanks for your inquiry but we’re too busy and under-staffed to do anything but process your monthly payment.”

Works great for reading my local newspaper. The app has worked great for me in getting headlines emailed that I can click on to read in the app.

Sign In. It’s impossible to sign in or get immediate help. Having a delivery subscription and digital does little good. I am getting fed up and ready to cancel if things do not improve!!!

Always a Memphis Fan!. My husband and I lived in Memphis for most of our fifty year marriage. He was a United Methodist Minister so from time to time he was pastor in other parts of Western Tennessee and Western Kentucky. Wherever we lived (outside of Shelby County), we alway kept informed via the Commercial Appeal!! We never missed Memphis Sports, especially Tiger Basketball! While living in Paducah, Kentucky we often drove to an area where we could hear the basketball or football game on our car radio. I am still a Memphian and a Tiger. Thank you, Commercial Appeal, for always keeping me informed about new developments in Memphis. I am excited to see the new Tom Lee Park and all the new development coming. Barbara Moorehead

Journalists and photographers A1+. To know how to write a story is one thing. But, to make the story readable and enjoyable (about some subjects) takes a special skill. Majority of CA reporters and photographers have this special talent. Of course, news articles about fatalities, murders, so forth can be presented only one way.

Doing all they can to kill print media. This is a lousy app,just as the print version is a joke!

Ads. Just disappointed that with a paid subscription, one is still inundated with ad after ad. Senseless but I guess not priceless. Ad free option would help. Otherwise I like the product.

Commercial Appeal Ap is terrible!. Let print subscription expire as local content diminished and digital became preferable. However, Ap kept crashing, kept having to call in, so let it go. Now tried to give it another chance through an into-rate via Apple, same problems, Ap keeps kicking me out! CA help deskCould not help me before, and now this time say it’s an Apple issue but it’s still their Ap!

Impossible to log in. It’s impossible to log in. Every time I try, I get an error message about Java. It happens when I try to use safari too. Complete garbage. “ It appears you have privacy settings enabled to prevent the execution of some JavaScript on this site. Our site will not function properly without Javascript enabled. Please check your ad blocker and privacy setting to ensure our site is allowed to execute all JavaScript”

Terribad. The worst news App available. Use the website this thing is awful. Advertisements pop up and besides the usual cheap shot miss-click tricks; sometimes it opens up modal and hijacks your session. Love my hometown paper but someone over there needs to make better technology decisions. Just bad.

Memphis basketball news. In the current article, they could have provided the date the Tigers would play in their next NIT game and what TV Channel would carry the game.

Up to date news. I love that I can get up to date news notifications. Great app!

Missing Section. I am going. To cancel the paper, after being a faithful subscriber for over 50 years. Each week-at least once, a section of my paper is missing. It is usually on a Tuesday but not always. The comics are in that part, as are the latest food news, etc. I lived in a rural commmunity and receive my paper by mail. I have called local P.O. , The Commmercial office, and spoken with my mail carrier...all to no avail. I looked forward to that paper so much! Now I just fume, wondering if today is “missing section day?” Martha Cook Oxford,MS

Terrible. I’ve been a subscriber for years, but this app keeps asking me to sign in again and again. Then when I’m trying to sign back in, the wheel spins and spins before I can get signed back in. If y’all don’t get this app fixed I’m going to drop my subscription.

Worst experience ever with the app. Spend more time with logging in and stories loading in than being able to read anything. I HATE it.

Makes your login all the time. Commercial appeal has treated it’s subscription access like you’re trying to break into the defense system of a pentagon

Suggestion: Stay on page. When I switch from this app to another and come back, it would be great if I could just come back to the story/page I was on, instead of back to the home page every time and have to navigate to the story again.

Should have known -No Stars. Called automated number to place a vacation hold. Got all the way through, and it said technical issue, call during business hours. So downloaded app. After waiting an hour for password reset email, and resetting password, trying to activate account says “already associated with account”...but can’t get to anything. The solution? Call customer service or email. Oh, during business hours, of course. Pathetic.

The Commercial Appeal gets it done!. The Commercial Appeal has timely information on a daily basis. It thoroughly covers Memphis, National and World News and Sports!

Old School Great. Paper of record for Memphis.

Commercial Appeal. I wish I could view the paper as if I was looking at the print edition. In other words, a screen shot of each page.

Commercial appeal. Can’t get much out of it due to all the ads you have to endure.

Cannot print from the app. I was printing the crossword in the enewspaper but the latest app will not allow that.

Hate all of the ADS. Every time you scroll through an article, you accidentally click on advertising, everywhere. It recently overtook the app (February 2017). Unfortunate.

Convenient way to enjoy a great newspaper!. For my purposes, this is a well organized online paper. It would get 5 stars if it were organized sectionally, like the paper version! Still, when I read the CA, I don't feel like I have to round out my reading with other papers for a good sense of the day's most important news.

Horrible customer experience. There is no obvious place to go to for customer support. I guess that is one way to avoid giving refunds for undelivered papers.

Needs some work.... This app isn't user-friendly. To me, it's like there's too much going on and it's very cluttered and unorganized. It was a lot better when I could swipe to each section and scroll down like in the previous version of the app. Plus, the ads are annoying. I pay for a digital subscription and with the quality of this app, I'm not getting what I paid for.

Great news site. This is easy to use. For me, it is a great supplement to the print edition. Sometimes, I will access the print version because I am old school and it seems to have more articles. But overall it is a great site.

Great Supplement to the Print Edition. With costs rising for printing and distributing a newspaper, content in the print edition has been reduced for years. I still prefer reading a real paper (and real books), but content that can't be included in the print edition is in the electronic edition.

Where is Commercial Appeal?. Stopped supporting Commercial Appeal app and suggested downloading this app, it is called the Commercial Appeal but amongst all the publications you can choose from the Commercial Appeal is not listed

Enjoying. Now that Gannet has taken over the commercial appeal our newspaper is not very current. This app allows me to keep things up-to-date

Commercial Appeal. Lots of local news--good when you're out of town.

Missing features. With previous CA app much additional information could be gained from reader comments. Also, it sure would be nice to be able to search.

An OK app. This app is a decent companion to the print version of The Commercial Appeal but it lacks something that works make it more usable: the Categories should be organized in the same manner as the sections of the newspaper. That would facilitate an easier way to find an article that you want to share with someone. I've tried many times to find articles that I want to share but I have to spend a long time searching for the right category that it might be listed under. The categories are good basic delineations, but for example articles about Local News are not listed that way so when I was looking to show someone an article I had read about the redevelopment in Crosstown it wasn't in News or Business. Maybe the current categories need sub-categories??

Bad app. This version is not very good. App keeps locking up and it is not user friendly. The app stops working very frequently and loads very slowly. When trying to read obituaries, there are way to many ads and pop ups in this section. Your old app was much better to navigate and was more stable.

Incomplete or just bad app. Can't comment on stories, can't even view user comments, which used to be a big part of the Commercial Appeal. Also, no ability to search for older articles. Needs a lot of improvement. The old app had all this. Why take it away?

Informative Information. The Commercial Appeal application allows quick access to facts. There are multiple ways this information can be interpreted or even misconstrued; comprehension is up to the individual(s) who read this news.

Not ready for prime time. Once again, they decided to roll out an unfinished app. No ability to see or read comments. They did this once before, so this isn't new, but it is still frustrating for those of us that pay for the digital service. The app is slower than the prior version, as well. The upside, which is why I gave it two stars, is that you now have access to more newspapers and I like the night mode.

Great local info. I love having access to local information. The pop-ups on my phone are great, they help me feel in touch with my community. My only negative comment would be that overall the content is a little sports heavy.

Don’t set alerts. In the morning, EVERYTHING seems to be important “breaking news” at the commercial appeal. Very annoying.

New App. Hopefully there will be improvements made. When you click on the Prep option in sports, it takes you to stories dated April 9. I miss the old app already.

CA. So important that we support local news. CA helps make Memphis a better place to live.

Memphis focused paper. Well written. Easy to navigate. The only issue I have is housekeeping. The CA has an annoying tendency to leave stale articles. Take a cue from USA Today...if an article is more than 48 hours old, either update it, or remove it. Also, Olive Branch news and data is woefully under-reported...

CA. The APP doesn't allow comment reading or posting. It basically provides the very basics.

Clunky and biased. If you can get passed the ads and general clunky design, the very liberal and one-side "reporting" and commentary makes it difficult to take anything in it seriously. Bias runs throughout the entire site...even the "sports reporters" have a heavy left lean, going so far as to attack conservative readers for their opinions. Don't waste your time with this app.

If you haven't read it, it's still news.. We've been a CA subscriber for decades. While no newspaper is the greatest, the Commercial Appeal does a mighty fine job of reporting the news. I really like the online content the best. Easy to read on my phone, computer or tablet. I may not agree with every story, but I get my chance to comment online. A great way to learn about Memphis and beyond.

Solid News Solid App. The CA does a fine job of reporting the news. There is no fluff or bloat and you can find what you are looking for without a slant or spin. The app works great and you also have the option of a print version that you can access online. Great job CA. Hope the new owners don't diminish a great product.

Awful!. The content is this app is often dated and irrelevant. The "Top Story" in this morning's Memphis Commercial Appeal app was regarding the economy in Columbia, Tn - near Nashville .....amazing

Inconsistent...difficult to find certain sections, or to reset. No problems

LOVE MY LOCAL PAPER. The online addition makes up for the early cutoff of sports results and other braking stories that don't make the printed edition of the paper. I also like the updates that are sent throughout the day that keeps you current on local, national and world events. This is the best way to keep up with the Memphis Tigers. Having the dedicated columnist to cover men's football and basketball makes sure we get the latest news on developments within the programs. However, I still like my morning printed paper to read with breakfast.

Too busy. I like the old commercial appeal app much better. The new one is too busy and has too many ads in it. Plus now this seems to be a paper more centered on Tennessee and not specifically just for Memphis.

Terrible. You constantly have to sign back in trying to go to the account.

Online reading. We travel a lot and online is so easy to keep up with midsouth news. Thanks CA!

Not user-friendly. I want information, not over-sized photos. What is deemed newsworthy is baffling. Not everyone wants to see every sports story at the top of their feed. It looks like someone ate USA Today and hurled it back onto the screen. The old app wasn't great, but at least you knew you were reading Memphis news when you opened it.
