Avoid ebooks that require this app!. I bought a book for IT vendor technical education that requires this app, but I have found it is missing complete pages on the iPad platform! I tried the Mac app and it seems to be ok. So the workaround is to use a screen sharing app to access my Mac running the Mac version of this app from the iPad which then requires me to zoom into the screen, or just use the Mac directly if you can… but the iPad app is useless and I wish I would have bought the hardcover version of the book instead. Even on the Mac app the quality of the images is poor, and it appears Adobe has no plans to maintain this app and should just tell those companies publishing training manuals to find a new ebook format!

What type of joke is it supposed to be?. As a professional who also works in both in the private sector and in the academia, I am oftentimes suggested to use this app as the only way to read things offline. What is the big deal here? Why does Adobe backs up this software at the same time they own blockbuster software of the modern world such as Photoshop and Acrobat? This app simply does not make any sense; everything stinks about it, from the very beginning (login interface) to the end (the end will be somewhere you can’t do anything further to progress and you become entirely stuck, because the app simply doesn’t work). Shame on the management who uphold such a failure of being still alive and untouched for more than two years. Failure for the science where so many people are interrupted from proceeding with their normal tasks because of the great barrier this app provides. It’s a shame.

Hands-Down Worst App I’ve Ever Used. There must be quite the financial incentive for publishers to use this app instead of Kindle or one of the others, because I increasingly find it to be my only option with some library books. Its basic, no-frills format would not be a big deal if the danged thing actually worked! But it’s SO FRUSTRATING to use, with the constant freezing and constant absolutely blank pages. Which I guess is freezing, idk- I’ve waited very long periods of time but the words won’t populate until I take some further action. Absolutely horrible. It took me forever to even figure out why “EPub” stopped being available in the EPub app! I could not figure out what I was doing wrong until finally located the painful instructions in Support. There have been so many digital library books that I waited a long time for, and when I see that it’s an “EPub” book after finally reaching the top of the wait list, I decline it. I read for pleasure; ADE makes reading excruciating. I just finished reading 2 that I had waited weeks for - F-bombs frequently flying during the course of it - and it will be a long time before I do it again. I feel very badly for students who have no alternative, for their e-textbooks.

Beware of the zombieware. UPDATE: The issue with accessing my purchase was resolved without explanation, so I can’t tell whether Adobe, the bookseller, or both caused the problem. Now I just have the lousy interface to deal with. STILL no update since 2018. Tip: Before clicking on a footnote, remember your page number. After reading the footnote, you’ll have to navigate back to the page you were reading by typing in the page number. POSTED IN 2020: This a barely adequate ebook reader. It is difficult to use. It frequently loses track of users’ books. And as I learned today, Adobe refuses to support it. Want help with Digital Editions? You’ll be referred to an online forum where someone else has already posted about your issue — in 2017, with no response since. Active development of this app appears to have ended in 2018. Using it is like working with the walking dead. The book I purchased in 2020, which is only accessible through this app, has disappeared. Oh, the book still exists in the cloud. I can still authorize the app with my Adobe credentials. But the book cannot be recovered, for reasons that will not be explained. Adobe could not possibly care less about my lost purchase. They already received their percentage. Thanks to this experience, Adobe has lost my business for life.

Only using cause I have to. As someone who has had to continue using this app on desktop and iOS for years now because I teach from a textbook that is only available in this app digitally, I can honestly say, it’s the worst. It feels from experience like Adobe is doing the bare minimum to keep the app alive. A list of things I experience: -Random pages that look fine on desktop look blown out and unreadable on iPad or iPhone. -Authorizing e-books can take multiple attempts and restarted the app before they appear. -Navigation and scrolling through the book is clunky only at a single speed. -Clicking and dragging to highlight text (YES it does actually have a HIGHLIGHT feature!) is clunky: Saved highlights have disappeared and you have to click and drag above a sentence to highlight it as if the entire alignment of words is off. So if I want to click and drag, I need to do so an inch or less above the actually words to effect them. -Hidden adware install on the desktop version. If you are not careful it comes with Norton Antivirus which will install with the program if you aren’t careful to hit no on install I could go on. I have asked my textbook manufacture to use another product. I ask Adobe to make this app, at least functional, but preferably at least competitive to other e-book readers. For now, I suffer through.

Astoundingly Bad!. I would have to say this is probably the most frustrating app I have ever used in my entire life. I literally have to pray each time that when I flip a page that it will actually go to the next page, won’t go blank, won’t skip around, won’t lose my place…. please save yourself so much headache and do not bother downloading this app. If this is the only way for you to read a book, just go borrow it at your local library or pay a couple of dollars for the Kindle edition. Trust me that five dollars or whatever you may spend rather than reading for free on this will be worth every penny because you won’t pull out half of your hair trying to get this ridiculously buggy stupid worthless app to work. Literally the absolute worst app I have ever used.

Literally the Worst App I’ve Ever Used. I tried our Adobe Digital Editions because it seemed easier than waiting for the library to open and go through all their COVID restrictions to get a book. Why get a physical copy when I have a perfectly good iPad and the library is offering an eBook? Well now I have to go get the physical copy because Adobe Digital Editions only lets me read roughly five pages at a time before it glitches and won’t advance a page. Only gets stuck on a blank white screen. It’s not a simple fix either. Closing the app and reopening it doesn’t do anything. The book is now “expired” despite the fact I just checked it out an hour ago. I’m shocked this is even an Adobe product. They should be ashamed of how poorly it works. A group of college freshmen could probably make an app 100x better than this, or at least one that works MORE than this Adobe product does. Jeez.

Horrible. You’d think Adobe would see the terrible feedback here and get straight to work but for those of us who have no choice but to use this crap, but until then is students will have to suffer. The lags and freezes are frustrating. On both my iPhone and iPad pages of my textbook mysteriously vanish, so as I go to the next page, it’s the previous page and the sentence does not make sense. This results in me losing a minute while I try to flip through pages to somehow urge the reader to produce the missing page. What a waste of time! I just want to study, not be constantly stopped because the reader is complete junk. Adobe—hurry up and fix this issue!!!

Really?. I double checked to confirm that Adobe has really signed off on this product. This reader is amazingly unfunctional, awkward and fidgety. I have been forced to use it until I find something that actually works better, and would urge Adobe systems to use some of their resources to completely rewrite it. The pages show as tiny on my iPad, and I need to adjust the size of each page with my fingers in order to read the print, and then shrink it again to get to the next page, which is by no means certain. If the page wont turn, I have to close out the screen and reopen it to move to the next page. A smart high school student could write a better app than this. Adobe??

DO NOT EVER PURCHASE A BOOK THAT USES THIS APP. I purchased an ebook not realizing I would have to use this terrible app to barely be able to uses the book on my iPhone. Calling this app terrible is actually too good of a word. Even after realizing I would not be able to adequately view the book I purchased on my iPhone, I tried to download it to my laptop…and that was a disaster. Even though I used the same login as on my iPhone with everything identical on my laptop as my phone…you can guess, it didn’t work. Even after erasing, reinstalling, reverifying the credentials and every other possible thing I could, it did not work. I wasted money so hopefully you can save yours. Avoid at all cost, just buy the paperback version of whatever you are reading. I would give this app negative stars if I could.

The worst app I’ve ever used.. I was required to download this app to get the digital version of a textbook. The contents index loads fine - but the rest of the contents/pages do not load at all; the pages look like they are print jobs from a printer that ran out of its toner, and are completely illegible. The pages I skip to won’t load at all. Total waste of time and space on my phone (iOS). Whoever is responsible for maintaining/updating this app needs to fix the issue and should be ashamed of themselves for continuing to be complacent/not resolving the issue after receiving all the other negative reviews. I am also contacting my school so they can find an alternative to this app.

Absolute garbage app. This deserves 0 stars. Didn’t even use it for reading, because I spent 30 minutes troubleshooting how to even upload ONE BOOK FILE INTO THE APP, only to have the app reject my Adobe ID. There is no in-app way to upload files. Let me just repeat that, once more: *THERE IS NO IN-APP WAY TO UPLOAD FILES*. This is a READING APP. An app for reading books!!! And there is NO WAY TO IMPORT. You have to do it manually, through your device’s files. “Did you google it?” Of course I did, and adobe only has instructions for their desktop app version, because they clearly think this app is trash not worth explaining, too. And did I mention it didn’t even accept my Adobe ID? Garbage, trash, a dumpster that’s not even worth setting aflame because of how absolutely useless it is.

Dead App!! How not to design an e-reader app. UPDATE: You should know this app is no longer under development. If you can, email your ebook’s publisher and ask for an alternative to this app… If you’ve ever thought to yourself, how can we make the process of obtaining a digital copy of a book more difficult and then, once the poor idiots figure out how to do it, how can we make the experience as excruciating, rudimentary, and utterly disconnected from the rest of the 21st century as possible... you probably designed this app. The designers haven’t even figured out how to fit pages onto your device. YOU CANT EVEN READ THE PAGES CORRECTLY, because the app hasn’t been updated to Apple’s own screen real estate standards. The notch on my iPhone fully obscures the top of every page. What person who wants to read would actually choose this app? Has anyone from Adobe who actually reads books tried to use this app? My guess is no.

Who designed this stinker?. I have been reading books on my phone for more than a decade, and I’ve use lots of different apps to do it over time. This feels like the worst of a first generation app: The majority of the screen space is blank around a tiny narrow column of text that looks ridiculous justified, because it truly creates distracting volumes of white space down the middle of the page. Better apps designed for actual readers go closer to the margin of the screen, allow you to stop justifying the text when doing so avoids that distracting white space that literally makes it harder to read, or to keep the justification when it is appropriate for the text. Adobe’s name is synonymous with graphic design, programs like Photoshop are now so powerful and flexible that that very flexibility is intimidating to many new users. It seems clear that they forgot that flexibility when creating this terrible implementation of an e-book reader. It forces screens to look like weirdly distorted printed and pages and ignores years of experience that make better readers actually a pleasure to use.

Do not buy downloadable PDFs that require this terrible software. Spent addition $20 on an online college textbook for the downloadable version. Terrible terrible choice. I ended up only being able to use it on this app with is horrible. I cannot even enter a page number to jump to. And don’t worry, because when you want to scroll to the page, a stupid bar pops up that blocks you from seeing any page number, so you have to wait until it goes away to see the number. Idk who would create this program with 0 functionality. I cannot believe the managers who approved this project either. Massive joke. Will be seeking a refund for my college textbook.

Not only the app - customer support is worst. I work at a library and the platform we use for eBooks is this app (or an equivalent). The books never look good and are illegible - even the “How to use this app” book that comes with the app. It’s very disappointing, though, that when tech support was called and I explained that I don’t have an Adobe account because I work at a library and can’t afford their products, they just dismissed me and told me to hang up, as they can only help paying customers. If this is the app that they want used for eBook that libraries use, they need to do better with the apps and their services. This is disappointing from such a big company and they should do better.

Worthless piece of crap. This software essentially does nothing. It does not crash (for me anyway), it just does nothing except show you a manual that supposedly describes how to use it. But the manual as both wrong in many places, and it’s pagination does not even match its table of contents. The thing I wanted it to do most is share ADE’s with my the same software on my Mac, which the manual explicitly states is possible. But after working for a couple of hours at it, it seems impossible to do that. There are simply no commands to allow you to either share a library with the Mac or download books from the Mac library. In fact, there are no commands to do anything useful. You can’t search for ADE’s, or borrow them or purchase them or anything else. I am just stunned at how worthless this app is.

PDF files only partially legible. I have used the app in the past to read books in pdf from the internet archive, but ecently the books are illegible in ADE. Most pages are “faded out” and unreadable, although a few appear as normal. I opened a pdf from another source to determine if this problem was related to Internet Archive downloads. A similar problem occurred when I opened a pdf of a HP printer manual in ADE. (Quite a few pages appeared as normal, but latter pages in the document were “faded” and unreadable. Opening the same pdf in Adobe Acrobat was successful and the document was legible in it’s entirety. Unfortunately, DRM pdfs cannot be read in Acrobat. Update: I purchased the Bluefire reader app & my book looks perfect now in Bluefire.

Deleting this app was a unique pleasure. It’s a shame that this app is still required to read ebooks you’ve already paid for. Normally I would reject downloading any kind of app created for the sole purpose of enforcing ludicrous DRM restrictions but this was a new release and I had to read it for work. The process of getting this working on multiple devices is a callback to a distinctly 1990s technology experience. Once you do it never really works or looks good and the UI is abominable. Remember opening Word docs on a Mac in 1996? Like you COULD but it was sluggish and awkward and you had the fear that if you clicked anything the whole thing would crash and bring the system down with it? It’s like that. Deleting Adobe Digital Editions was a really satisfying experience, certainly more enjoyable than any single moment of using this awful thing.

How is this possible?. I am amazed that this is an Adobe product and that it is allowed to be on the App Store. Truly, it is a worthless piece of junk! I purchased an ebook from a small, independent press and this is the app it’s compatible with. (I’m assuming the publisher is paying Adobe for the privilege… if so, Adobe should give them their money back plus compensation.) I opened the book and it appeared they’re was no content. However, at the bottom of the blank page was a page number. So I zoomed in and then outlines of letters appeared. Then I zoomed out and the words disappeared again. Then I tapped the page and the words reappeared. (Sometimes. Other times it takes more zooming and moving the page around.) I have to go through these motions on almost EVERY SINGLE PAGE! I am so glad the book is only 50 pages long! I am on page 20 and am so frustrated with trying to get the words to appear that I may give up and go buy the paper copy. It’s a shame, and I feel sorry for anyone who bought an expensive and decently long book and was expecting to be able to read it. Adobe usually stands for quality… what happened here??

Not for School or Recreation. There are problems that me and all of my classmates mentioned while we were using this app. The main problem is that it lags and stops a lot if you are using it offline. When you flip through pages too much, it starts to freeze for a while before you can flip the pages again. So when we were looking for a certain page in our ebook, the app lagged every 10-15 seconds. This happens less frequently with internet connection, but it can still happen. Especially if the app has not loaded certain parts of the book yet. Another problem is that there isn't a simpler way to find a certain page. Even though the app has a scroller that helps you jump through the pages, it doesn't indicate which page you're going to flip to. If there's a way you can do this in the future, that would be good as well. TL;DR I don't recommend this app for anyone who wants to use this for ebooks. Whether for educational or recreational purposes. It's better if you find an app that can do so much better until Adobe fixes these problems. It's not worth it.

Terrible.. Terrible app, really. My Kaplan course only allows us to access our book digitally through this app and I’ve had so many issues. You can’t even see most of the book unless you put it in the “yellow” mode rather than white or black. Even then, the app often crashes and I can’t even open up the book. Another annoying issue is that it starts to lag anytime I try to look something up, and then it just force closes. How is this app still available to use? How are company’s actually recommending this app when the reviews are terrible? I feel bad for those who bought e-books that can only be used on this app just to find they wasted their money (me!).

Pure Garbage - Zero Stars. The app does not work. After downloading the app, I opened the introduction ebook that comes with it. It was unreadable. Scrolling through it, numerous blank pages, pages with faded text, pages with half or less if the text showing. I thought it might just be that file was bad. Nope. Downloaded the book I actually wanted to read — which works fine in an online reader — and it was even more broken. Other than all the same problems listed above, multiple pages were duplicated. After scrolling 20 pages I wasn’t even 10 pages into the actual book. This app is pure garbage. Zero stars.

Has no functionality and it is disgusting!. I travel a lot and only have an I pad for a computer, it works fine with almost everything but whenever I need adobe for something it is a mess. I have the most recent I pad and it is just as powerful as a computer but for some reason adobe removes basic functions of applications in the I pad IOS. I have been trying to trouble shoot so I can authorize my e-reader with adobe using my i pad so I can download library epubs, there is no way I can trouble shoot this and now I need to hunt down someone who will let me run ADE to download simple library books, this is ridiculous and furthering my disgust with adobe products. Adobe do better and stop limiting I pad IOS, this has been an issue for years now and honestly I am beyond fed up, there is no reason with the power of current I pads to limit them like this, they function essentially as computer.

Pages missing or faded. I finally settled down to read the book I paid good money to download to the iPad. After reading the first few pages, I was glad I finally had some time. As I flipped the page I was like “ what the f@#k, the page is blank. I flipped through the book, and all my books and learned that many pages were blank. How does a multi billion dollar company screw this up so bad? It was bad enough going through the very unused friendly process to get the books I purchased downloaded. Now this. I think the management team at Adobe needs to look through all these wonderful reviews and learn from them instead of counting all their bonus money on the golf course.

Bad, but not unusable. On first use, the app appears unusable (at least when viewing some books) as other users state. The default color scheme (middle button icon at the bottom when viewing a book, leftmost option) seems to be the culprit. The two other color options appear to display my book correctly. But even then, this is a very basic e-reader for DRM protected content. You can highlight in what appears to be only a single color, bookmark pages, view the table of contents, view all of your highlights and bookmarks, search text, and display content in two (functional) color schemes (white text/black background, and black text/brown background). That’s about it for functionality. Highlights are ugly and are broken up by the spacing between highlighted words. Recommend looking elsewhere; this app isn’t worth its free price tag.

Absolute Garbage. Keep in mind that Apple forces a star eating and I’d like to give this a -1,000,000 star rating. This is single-handedly the worst app on all of the App Store. It is amazing that Apple allows this hunk of garbage to remain while other much more fit apps are denied. In addition to the clunky reading experience, the fact that you are trapped to using it if the publisher in their infinite wisdom has chosen to use the simply awful Adobe DRM is absolutely disgusting. Adobe has simply been missing the mark from one instance to another. I have stopped using all of the products that use to use except photoshop and that’s on its way out. It seems that adobe doesn’t want survive the next decade with the awful premiere pro, after effects, illustrator, acrobat, and now this trash program. It is simply awful. Even their express doesn’t hold a candle to other online programs like candle. Adobe, you are trash

Wow.. When I first began to use ADE, I thought there was no way the ratings could be true - that this app was somehow THAT bad. On desktop versions, it won’t allow you access to an “account” page to even figure out what email you’re “licensing” under, which makes it near impossible to use the same account on other devices. It is INCREDIBLY counterintuitive. Now that I’m having to read textbooks for my courses on here, and frequently using the highlighting function, I find that every few minutes the app will crash. When it crashes it not only sends me BACK to the page I was on minutes before the crash, but it will also ERASE all of my highlighting. Why any service would voluntarily provide .acsm format ebooks (looking at you University of Chicago Press) when the app is THIS bad, and not give you ANY alternatives ie beyond me.

i just want to study!!. this is the only app that my school has recommended we use for our downloads. my main issue is that when i download my slide notes, it will double and sometimes even triple the downloads and causes it to take up space and glitch out. if i try to delete the duplicates, my original file won’t work. i don’t understand why this is an issue. and even if i receive the one download, it won’t save correctly unless i flip through some of the pages before i return to the home screen. the only way i’ve found it to work is by downloading one thing individually and flipping through it when i just need to download multiple one after the other and THEN go back and read them. i only do this so i can access them offline at home but i can’t even do that.

Whoever designed this should be fired!. I had to download this to read ebook from my local library and it’s one of the worse apps I have ever used in my life. I have an iPhone XS Max and this app is not maximized for this phone or any phone models with the black bar at the top, because the first time of the page is right where the black bar is which means you can’t read at least 3-4 words every page! The app also loves to freeze out or just glitch out randomly, especially when you switch out of it and come back in or change screen orientation. I also like continuous scrolling for reading instead of having to swipe because it’s a hassle, not to mention if you are reading in a dark/dim space it has to load every page (which takes a bit) and the loading screen is WHITE while I’m reading in dark mode! I honestly can’t believe this is a published app! I wish I could use the books app right on my iPhone for the library materials but sadly I can’t. This is really a pity and I hope adobe fixes this disaster soon so people can actually use it to read or study.

Frustrating experience!!. Been using this app for a while now on my iPhone and it is frustrating me to no end. It keeps syncing blank books to my device and then constantly crashes. As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, there isn’t a way to mass delete all those blank books and there over 400 of them! I went through and manually deleted them ALL.... then I thought I might uninstall the app and retry... nope... it just re-sync those 400+ blank books all over again. I would like to have all the hours of my life back that I invested into this app, but I’m doubtful Adobe can make that happen. Perhaps if they enabled two-page view and fixed the glitch where it keeps crashing and syncing blank books... I might be able to forgive them.

THIS IS THE WORST APP EVER. I have to use this to download my school books so i can have them saved somewhere. I only downloaded this app in the hopes of being able to print the eBook b/c the school didn’t give us a hard copy of the book its all digital. Adobe wants me to Pay for a subscription. However, there is a 30 day free trial. I do not want to have to go through the entire process of canceling it and potential not be able to cancel it. Also, having the possibility that everything you download to the app being canceled after you cancel the subscription. I created an account b/c it was free but, I can’t even log in. I am not paying money to log in not even knowing if I’ll be able to print things.

Adobe should be embarrassed to have their name on this App - Do not waste your time. I am dumbfounded that Adobe would produce a product that is so bad and useless. It simply does not work. People are complaining about the lack of features but the main problem is that the pages do not load consistently. What is the point of an e-reader if the pages are blank? If this were my first Adobe experience, I would not use any of their products. Clearly, Adobe is not vested in this App as they have not addressed the complaints. There are so many books and so little time…I think I will just stick to my Kindle and ignore ePub formatted books! I much prefer reading on Kindle rather than in my browser.

not compatible with screen reader. I tried using Apple's built-in screen reader to read books on this app, but the app does not allow it to work at all. No matter what book I try to read, it will only read the page number and nothing else. I'm not sure if this incompatibility is specifically with Apple or if other screen readers don't work with this app either. Regardless, it is extremely frustrating, especially since this app is the only way I can access ebooks through my university's library. Clearly Adobe did not give the slightest consideration to accessibility when creating this app. Strangely, it is only the mobile app that has this problem. The desktop app works perfectly fine on my Macbook, which is how I know that the mobile app is the problem, not the books I downloaded.

Worst app I have ever used. I was required to use this app for my university reading and it is quite literally the worst app I have ever used. First, creating and using an Adobe ID is so confusing and not explained at all. It was never made clear to me that the password of the gmail account I used to sign up was not my Adobe ID password, so that took 20 minutes to figure out. Then, once I figured out how to actually import the book into the app (another 20 minutes), it was unreadable because the bottom two-thirds of every word is cut off. I followed the troubleshooting guidelines but absolutely nothing worked. This is such an embarrassment of an app, and Adobe might as well delete it and start over. It is beyond saving.

Doesn’t do the one thing it needs to do …. I’m a grad student and am for some reason required to download this app to access books that I need for class. The process of downloading/making account etc. in the first place was inconvenient enough, but even after getting the book to download most of the pages are LITERALLY MESSED UP TO THE POINT THAT I AM UNABLE TO DECIPHER ANYTHING. I know it is not something wrong with the Downloaded book because the messed up pages are different every time I reopen the book. This app is not good, literally does not perform the singular function that it exists for and now I’m unable to complete my readings. Would give -5 stars if I could…

Absolutely Horrible!. I HAVE to use this app for the books for my class. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had trying to access my course material through digital means. The font is so small, and when I attempt to zoom in out it, it skips like five pages forward! This is extremely difficult to do my homework while on vacation, actually the only reason I’m leaving this review is because all of a sudden the book froze on the app, I tried to reinstall the book it’s self without reinstalling the entire app, it didn’t work! So then I deleted the entire app, and in doing so noticed the poor reviews and decided to leave one myself. I’m annoyed. I’m shocked that as big as a company Adobe is, they thought it was ok to develop this crappy app!!!

Thanks I hate it. This is somehow less competent than any app still running a version that came out in 2005. How shall I begin? 1. The entire aesthetic of it is terrible. It’s worse than goodreads 2. Each time you swipe to turn the page (when it works) the screen goes white 3. The text sizer is impossible to use and is also activated when you use two fingers 4. My notched phone (iPhone 11) has the text cut off at the top. Keep in mind the iPhone X came out in 2018, which means this app hasn’t changed that yet 5. Even though it is “downloaded” it will still buffer and blast a white screen in your face while it loads 6. The fact that adobe has the gall to push this to publishers as a “great way for digital arcs!” While the formatting is so terrible that my dead grandmother could have done better. Yes yes, your book is great. However, why is the text overlapping?? This is terrible and since it’s so bad (and has been bad for a while) I’m guessing they don’t care. Lovely. Lost all brand integrity in one single app

Worst app I have ever used. I just purchased an eBook and it required me to download this app to read it. I spent $40 on it. I want to share my extreme dissatisfaction with the quality of the eBook format. It was ridiculously challenging to download and I spent nearly 40 minutes trying to figure out how to download it. I finally figured out what the issue was by looking at the comments on the IOS reviews page from several others that had similar issues. The trouble was that you cannot use safari to download it so I had to get an all new internet browser to download it. Then once it was finally downloaded I was incredibly disappointed in the quality of the e-reader itself. The content in the book is great. I know because I have the paperback version. But I was looking for an electronic version that I could take on the road with me and easily access when away from home. When you read the book in the eBook format it looks awful. Words are cut off, you can't even finish reading complete sentences because the formatting is all wonky. This app is absolutely is ridiculous. The quality is so poor it is completely unreadable.

Frustrating reading experience. I purchased a $40 ebook focused on math education instructional strategies PD. With the limited amount of time I have for planning lessons at school, I figured I could at least read the ebook on my phone while I use the stationary bike or elliptical at the gym in the evenings. Too bad it’s impossible to read on this app. Need to make the text larger? No worries, the app can do that, if you don’t mind turning the page every second because it shows fewer words on the page instead of just making the page longer/scrollable. Need to zoom in on a table/graph/diagram? No can do. So I guess I can do my cardio and read the sample dialogues, but I’ll have no idea what problem or diagram the dialogue is about. Useless.

I Never Write Reviews…. But this app is so bad I felt compelled to do my part to drag it down, and possibly, hopefully, lead to its eventual demise. My library uses OverDrive, and OverDrive decided to use this app for EPUB books (never mind that they managed fine before without it). I’m grateful, both to my local library, and to OverDrive, for building a world with “digital libraries.” However, this app is so poorly designed, structured, and engineered, that it almost feels like Adobe made intentional choices to make the EPUB format as brutal to use as possible. And OverDrive, which is owned by Rakuten, which owns Kobo E-Readers (which natively support EPUB… take that in for a minute. This is a company that has their own E-Reader software), eagerly embraced this reality.

Worthless. Royal pain to transfer between devices. App should just sync between devices. Does not work as directions indicate. App can not find books that are downloaded locally. Too bad you can’t give a zero. I can not only hope that software developers wanted to develop app that would discourage reading. Just stay with Kindle or iBooks. This just is not worth the hassle. When I rented a book in the kindle format of it just syncs over. With Adobe you need to download, connect devices and MAYBE it will transfer. There is no way to download directly to a mobile device that works. And of course much of the time it can't connect to the fulfillment server. Only way this app could be worse is if it didn't load at all.

Wow people weren’t joking (very bad app). I just wanted to read an e-book from my local library and had to download this app to read the book. I saw all the one star reviews and got a little freaked out but I still gave it a try because I really wanted to read this book. There’s no real tutorial on how it works but I figured it out on my own after 10 minutes. Got the book into the app and there’s no way to actually read it? I read the title page, the acknowledgement page, and then the remaining pages after that were blank? Like blank pages or blank pages with like black smears? I guess the pages don’t display properly on the screen once the book is in the app. I mean there were literally no words on the remaining pages after the acknowledgment page. Don’t even waste your time. Even if you do everything right, once you actually download and open the book, you won’t be able to load the contents of the book. Would give 0 stars if I could but hey at least maybe I can save someone time with my review.

ADE needs much more work!. I’m disappointed in ADE. I had no problem loading in DRM ePub and reading them. However, I find ADE very lacking in features. Features like word definitions, phrase translation, underlining and highlighting in various colors, ability to google and hotlink to places, people and art described in ebooks. I was a big fan and user for many years of Neosoar another DRM e reader. Unfortunately, they seem to be recently out business. It took a while for Neosoar to get to a point of near perfection with these features I’ve listed above. But the absolute best was your annotations were linked to Dropbox. So, any additions or notations or hotlinks would be saved in Dropbox. If you changed or upgraded your e reader you would upload the DRM e book and sync with Dropbox and all your annotations would appear. You would not lose any annotations. Neosoar is a great loss to those of us need an e reader that is fully connected to power of the internet. It is unfortunate that ADE does not measure up. In the future it could if Adobe puts in the effort.

Adobe, PUH LEEESE give this app some attention…. I have recently needed to download this app since an ebook was only available through Adobe’s DRM. So far the MacOS version is serviceable—not the best navigation but you can get around. The iOS version is unusable. It crashes during searches, pages are missing or unreadable (don’t know if this is a scanning issue, but why then does it work on the macOS version?), and navigation is neglible. Many many people read ePubs on a tablet like the iPad, so it boggles my mind that a company like Adobe wouldn’t put some effort into this product. I imagine with Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iBooks taking a lot of the market share, perhaps there is not enough market left to tempt them. But I suspect that there are plenty of authors/publishers who would like to skip the massive fees that both companies impose, so there is a real Power-to-the-Author-People market that can develop here if they play their cards right.

So frustrating. Worst app I’ve ever used.. I never write reviews for apps, but this app is so horrible that I felt compelled to write a review. Where do I even start? Every time I try to change my place in the book by using the “contents” tab and selecting a chapter/section, it freezes. After every few page turns, it freezes. After every few highlights, it freezes. Sometimes, the app would crash and I would lose some of my highlights. I was not able to use the search feature because every time I pressed on one of the search results, the screen would go blank and I would have to fully close and reopen the app. I hated this app so much, but I had to use it because it was the only app I could download my textbook on. Using this app was extremely frustrating. I wasted a lot of my time fully closing the app and reopening it every time it froze. I am so glad I am done with my class and do not have to use this anymore. Adobe, why won’t you fix this? So disappointed.

Keeps freezing and bouncing around. I have to use this app for a required textbook for a class and it’s horrible. It keeps freezing and will jump around to random pages in the book. When you go to “turn” a page it will sometimes skip back and forth over the page you are trying to get to - it will go forward 2 or 3 pages and when you try to page back it will go back 2-3 pages and it can take a dozen or two tries to get the page you need. If you try to access a page through the table of contents it takes you to some other random page. I do not have these issues with the program on my Windows laptop, it seems to only be an issue with iOS.

Beyond Underwhelming. I am required to use this app to access online resources from my university library. For one book, it took me an hour to go from reserving it at my uni library to downloading it onto my iPad. Once I did download it, I noticed that the rendering of the text is confusing and frequently misaligned or beyond the limits of the screen space. Scrolling at even a moderate pace causes freezing. Reading to study, I was naturally interested in having my highlights exported to add to my digital notes, but that's not possible. This app feels like something made over a decade ago. For a company that charges so much for most of its products and is so terribly hyper-vigilant about maintaining its siloed ecosystem, I expected better.

Very Frustrated. I concur with other reviewers who have down rated this app. My advice: if there’s a digital book that you want to buy that requires Adobe Digital Editions, just don’t buy the digital book! Find another format to buy it in if you can. This app has given me so much frustration and it’s only getting worse. I don’t think the developer reads these reviews or cares because there have been no updates to the app in over a year now. This is the reason performance of the app just keeps getting worse. Publishers also need to STOP OFFERING DIGITAL BOOKS REQUIRING THIS APP. It becomes very unfair to the buyers of your products. How Adobe can associate its name with this - I have no idea. If you don’t want to update this app can you please just render it obsolete and stop wasting everybody’s time & money.

Horrible experience. I recently purchased a professional therapeutic evaluation tool in digital format that is published and accessible only on the Adobe Digital Editions app. The material was not inexpensive. I had never heard of this Adobe app before, but I followed the instructions and downloaded the app so that I could have access to my purchased material. The app is terrible. It does not render pages clearly. There is no way to print a page, which is a vital feature of what I purchased. Scrolling is choppy at best. There is nothing redeemable about this app at all. Adobe needs to do some serious work to make it usable. In its current state it is completely unusable. If I could rat it negative 5 stars I would.

Shockingly dysfunctional. Misses odd pages, graphics don’t appear correctly, will not work in portrait. Using updated iPad, shocked that such a thing could come from Adobe. Reverted to windows device, works but functionality is very basic.

Please Update app. Has a tendency to lose your place in a book far too easily by going forward or backwards but still manages to be non responsive in other ways. In the last few days it has stopped even rendering the text on my books in the iPad app and they’re completely worthless to me in that state.

Truly, truly horrendous app. Having spent hundreds of dollars on e-textbooks rather than physical ones for environmental reasons, I’m now forced to use this app, which consistently loads pages incorrectly, or is completely blank. This is going to cause me major disruptions in my university studies, and put me far behind the students using physical copies. I cannot believe this app was deemed appropriate for release.

Embarrassingly bad.... Worst reader I’ve ever used. Bought an online textbook that would not allow Kindle or IBooks and makes you download the App. It works ‘okay’ on Mac computer, but is horrendous on iPad. The page number won’t change. The table of contents link won’t work to take you to a specific page. I’ll be on one page, move one page ahead, the page number won’t change but it skips ahead to a random page in another chapter. Was so frustratingly awful I almost threw my iPad out the window but alas, Not iPads fault. Whoever built this app should be ashamed. Work harder to get a product to at least work, if not have the functionality of iBooks.

Worst reading app. I don't normally do reviews, but this app is by far the worst reader that I have used and unfortunately stuck with, because of some stupid licensing arrangements. Every time I turn a page it goes to another random page, all my highlights keep disappearing, can't turn a page properly, chunks of the book disappear and the list goes on. Try and avoid this app at all costs, it is rubbish.

Do the app developers even care?. I can read this off my laptop just fine. But I tried using the app for reading but it’s hard to read when the actual app doesn’t work. After seeing how many review express how terrible this app is the developers don’t even seem to care to address the problem. Perhaps you’ll have a larger interaction with your app if it actually functioned.

Shockingly bad. This was the only app offered to read my library book. The pages disappear, jump forward, backward and basically ruin the reading process. I can’t believe this is still used. Very disappointing and frustrating. Don’t bother.

Bane of my existence. I truly have no idea how Adobe have tricked every higher education provider into using this program to rent out their ebooks. I have used so many other free readers that are fully functional. This program won't even allow the most basic functions (e.g. continuous scrolling). Heaven forbid I try to highlight text or search a document - it crashes instantly. This is just on the computer - I can't even open books from my university on my iPad at all. Pointless and awful. Are universities paying Adobe for this??? I certainly hope not.

Do not use if you want to sync across devices. The app is okay to use if you’re on one device only. But it is impossible to sync your library between devices. A 4 yr old thread on their forum has been left unanswered by an support staff. Syncing does not work as stated in their blurb.

One time user. First time I’ve ever downloaded an e-book and this is my experience. I installed ADE on my Windows10 device and it works fine. I downloaded it on my iPhone XS, noticing the one star average, but proceeded anyway. After all, I haven’t got time for reviews. Can I just say, along with all the other one star users, the app is horrible. I thought it was just me, until I remembered the rating. I cannot believe this is an Adobe product. I wouldn’t have used it if the e-book I downloaded didn’t require me to! Unbelievable in today’s day and age that an app so unreliable from a quality brand exists. Shame on Adobe and shame on me for not just buying a hardcopy book instead.

Awful.. I made the mistake of purchasing an Ebook that requires me to read off this app. The smallest text is still huge so there’s like 20 words per screen, and there’s no scroll function so I’m having to swipe pages every 5 seconds. What an awful idea to make people who purchase books be forced to use this program.

Avoid if at all possible.. Minimal functionality, inability to usefully format how text appears on the screen and a ‘dark mode’ that flashes a full white screen each time you turn a page make this software a giant pain to use. Avoid unless your library required it’s use to borrow digital books.

Terrible. this is the worst reader i have ever used and unfortunately cannot open my files in anything else. Does not have a text to speech option which is just astounding, highlights keep disappearing. would give negative stars if i could. the developers don’t even care

The worst ebook app ever. I’ve tried quite a few app to read ebook, but so far none can be distantly disappointing as this one. Horrible interface, no setting available but to authorize/link you adobe ID, worst user experience I ever had with ebook app. If it’s not compulsory to read textbook for my uni, I would delete it right the first try. Never been disappointed in an Adobe product before, but this one looks like they don’t even bother to try to make it usable. I really hope that it gets deleted from app store, cause apparently Adobe don’t care.

Won’t load pages or remember my place. I’m trying to read this book and every time I get to a new chapter it won’t load the pages at all. And then eventually it will just take me all the way back to the beginning of the book and the only way to get back to my place is to use the bottom page scroller to get to the page I left off on (so I need to be constantly aware of what page I’m on). And also when I leave the app it doesn’t remember my place in the book! If you have an alternate, use that app

Terrible!. Is this really being recommended as an application to read documents with? I only got this because one of my uni books is an Ebook and reading it has been nothing short of a nightmare! This is so clunky. Can’t believe it is an Adobe product!

Worst productivity app I’ve ever used. Terrible interface and the app doesn’t even work properly. It is quite obvious that Adobe have given this app no care or attention. I feel like I’ve completely wasted the money I spent on the textbook I needed to use.

Should be 0 star. I downloaded this app in order to read a university prescribed text book. I paid extra so I could do this. This app is useless and does not work, and it looks like the developers are not interested in helping their customers. Adobe should be ashamed of themselves. This had made me wary of buying any of their products as their back up support is zero!!

Simply does not work. This terrible app simply does not apply the digital rights properly and fails to load the book. Is using ebooks website, just view through a browser on a large screen. Forget this pathetic app

Don’t Download it!. If you have an iPad becuase it doesn’t work. It’s rubbish. The books arrive in the library okay but when you open them you only get to see/read the first two or three pages - the rest are all illegible. It’s a pity as it works better on a laptop but even then the scrolling is glitchy.

Where E-books Go to Die. An sad little application clearly forgotten by Adobe. They certainly don’t seem to be reading these reviews. Maybe it earns little revenue, maybe they don’t care. Who knows, but we are captive to its many tragic charms because so many libraries make it the only option. Please Adobe, put us out of our misery with an update, or at least let us see more than one page at a time.

Actually works, but it is incredibly unintuitive!. If you are a student and required to download Proquest Ebook files, you have probably been pulling your hair out over this app. The first thing you have to do is download the related acsm files then manually share them with this app. You will probably notice a lot of blank pages when you try to read your ebook; to get around this issue you have to tap on the page to find a sun icon. Tap on that icon to change the text display, then the missing pages should turn up. I really wish Adobe would listen to all these one star reviews and make their app more user friendly!

Absolute flop. This app is just unworkable, I had to download it for a uni textbook I bought and the quality is atrocious. The pages don’t follow one another, and the text is often blurred, it’s impossible to read. Avoid buying a book in this app at all costs.

Buggy as hell. Really hard to bring up the menu. Does the long press have to be an exact duration or something that’s impossible to figure out?! And when I tap on my new book in the library, the closes (goes into the background) every time. The only thing I can read is the Getting Started guide. Utterly useless!

Terrible app, looks and runs like a 2 year old made it. Can’t transfer my books from my PC to iPad even after authorising my adobe account on it, key features as promised by the app simply do not work. App also looks like a child made it, is this even made by Adobe??

Just as bad as everyone says. Way behind all the other readers. You can’t even SEE anything when you have it on black or white filter, forcing you to use sepia mode. The book doesn’t adjust to your device screen, crops way up, and doesn’t keep the zoom throughout reading. No tapping to get to next page, there’s really nothing to like about this reader.

ADOBE YOU CAN DO BETTER, this is probably your simplest app and biggest failure. I deleted and reloaded this app numerous times thinking it had not loaded properly. On the iPad with current iOS this app continually causes the page to go blank as you are reading it (ie has loaded and the drops it) or fails to load the page when you swipe to the next page. It also hangs for no reason.

Frustrating. It’s taken me nearly two weeks to get to page 61 of a 157 pages online book. I don’t normally leave reviews but just had to. This is the most frustrating App I’ve ever used. I’ve canceled my book subscription because I don’t want to use this App

Works great. I really don’t get what all the negative reviews are on about. It works great for me! I like the ability to highlight, the time I’ve been reading. UI is simple and clean. Can’t fault it.

You’ve heard of user friendly, now get ready for user hostile!. Despite its presence on the App Store this is a non-functional app in every meaningful way. Yes the software does run on iOS and does respond to user inputs but that is all that can be said. Page numbers in contents pages do not function correctly. You can’t jump to a page by pressing the page numbers which is fine if it’s a 10 year old pdf but unacceptable for content specifically made for the platform. The jump to page feature does not work at all, it’s purely decoration. Content will randomly not display at all depending on the zoom level. Each page seems to require a different degree of zoom to actually display content. This all complements the horrific DRM implementation: if you don’t sign in before downloading something you will permanently lock yourself out of opening that file! All this app is is a glorified pdf reader with DRM and it fails to do either. A legitimately unusable piece of software. It may be free but you pay with your sanity.

Absolute Garbage. The reviews are accurate, this app is rubbish. Slow and clunky to use, can’t reliably download whole books, can’t seem to go more than a few pages before it shows a blank page for no reason. Apple should kick this abomination off the iTunes Store till it actually works.

An April’s Fool joke surely ?. First thing I did was ‘Go to page’ , entered 12. Instead of going to 12 It does a search for the word ‘The’ and displays all those pages. Worse still every page in the search results is labelled ‘page 7’. Too bad if you want to go to page 600 of a 1000 page book. Anyway I clicked on a random ‘page 7’ and clicking on a page does nothing at all.

Worst app. This is the worst app for reading my book. I only have it because I’m not sure of another option. Sometimes it highlights other times it doesn’t. Sometimes the pages just disappear all together. I doubt that any work or improvement has been done on this app at all. Avoid it like the plague.

As bad as an ebook reader can get. I understand why online collections need DRM. But oh my goodness, can someone please create an ebook DRM format that allows you to access the book in other apps???? This app is downright awful. I prefer to use apps that give you a set of nice fonts to use; that gave animated page turns: etc. Because ultimately I prefer physical books, but ebooks are so convenient and often the only option available. This app is about as ugly and barebones as an ebook reader can get and even then, it seems that people often have problems with it. Seriously I find myself accessing books err... "Another way", which I won't go into detail about... And sometimes I will buy the ebook if I know I'm going to read it all (not feasible for uni research though) even though I would otherwise happily use the library's resources. Purely because I really dislike this app and its PC counterpart. Given that this is Adobe, the same company that produces Photoshop, how is it that the ONE DRM compatible app for ebooks is so.... This??

Absolute garbage. I agree with other users - this app is a piece of garbage. Even the help document from Adobe does not correlate with what is in the app. Any company that exclusively uses this reader for their product is crazy. A collection of snapshots of a page would be more usable than using this app. At least with a number of images I would not get the grey page/block which pops up now and again to block most of the page. And yes, there is no way to change text size.

Terrible, frustrating, slow.. This is a terrible app, and a mistake for publishers to force people to use it. It manages to make the process of reading a book frustrating. Turning a page is too slow, it can’t save hilighted sections, bookmarks or notes properly and changing orientation is clunky and buggy.

A middle schooler could do better. Can’t adjust text size. Sure you can pinch and zoom but then you have to scroll back and forth along every single line. The words are less than 3mm tall (yes I measured) because I’m trying to view an entire page on an area 1/3 the size of my iPhone. Also can’t read the top part of every page because the developers haven’t accounted for the bezel. Can’t believe I’m paying hundreds of $ for Adobe when they can’t even figure out text zoom

Doesn’t work for me. I borrowed a book from Open Library and tried reading it in this app. It simply doesn’t work: the app just shows several hundred blank pages. I followed the tips in the Getting Started guide to try fix the broken book, but the book remained blank in Adobe Editions. However I can see and read this book just fine on the Open Library website. It’s only broken in Adobe Editions.

Awful. Page swipes to random parts of the book. While reading, text suddenly disappears. Other times, it renders in a tiny square in the screen corner. Seriously the worst app I’ve ever used on an iPad. I mean, it’s been nearly 50 years since a programmer first output “hello world” to a computer screen; in all that time, Adobe can’t get text to render properly?!?

What a poor App. Full of bugs and dysfunctional. You’d think Adobe would know what they are doing in this space but this is a massive fail. I’ve downloaded and reloaded, authorised, deauthorised and reauthorised and tried private and public wifi but it just won’t download books. Given up and deleted and found a reader that does work.

Text Goes Missing. iPad Air This is the worst ereader app I have ever used. The text will go missing and the remaining is unreadable. Then you have to go back to your library and select the book again to view with full text. It’s a giant “Don’t Bother.”

Terrible. App keeps crashing; HUGE swathes of the book can be missing, if it opens the book at all. I can’t believe this is an Adobe app! How do you study when half the book is missing? Does anybody from Adobe read these reviews who can fix the issues, as I see I’m not the only one with troubles, who is forced to use a dodgy app.

Always used this. Always used this to read brooks and saved them to read whenever. It’s a great app. I dunno why others say it’s not good. I found this to be the best to look after my ebooks. Thanks for this app.

What even is this?. I only downloaded this because I had to for a uni book, and I still can’t even access it. Is this really an adobe product? I have the creative cloud since I’m a design student and use a multitude of adobe apps with ease. Nothing has caused me more frustration than this app. If you have an iPad don’t bother with this. I am now having to view my book chapter by chapter while studying for an exam because at least this way I can view it on pdf viewer. The introduction book on this app doesn’t load properly, half the pages are faded, pixilated and hard to read. I have deleted and downloaded this app multiple times and the issues stayed the same. Don’t bother with this app, save yourself the headache and look for alternative solutions.

Completely unusable. Imagine a place made entirely of nightmares, where everything you reach for remains ever out of your grasp and every step forward brings you three steps behind where you were. That is the experience this so-called reading app offers. The book repeatedly failed to load, or would load for two pages and then somehow disappear again, pages would only show one tiny portion of the text, turning one page would either take you forward or backwards three pages. I can’t even rate the user experience because it wasn’t usable enough to experience anything but pure, unadulterated rage. If you have a book that can only be read on this app, give up now before you too fall into this pit of despair. You don’t need it, and chances are you won’t be able to read it here anyway.

Completely useless. Assuming you can actually log in, this app doesn’t do anything it is supposed to do. Unfortunately it’s the only format library e-books support, which means those books are unreadable. App hasn’t been updated in over 3 years, so that tells you something. DO NOT DOWNLOAD

The one star reviews are right - this is super buggy. Unfortunately, the book I bought was restricted to Adobe Digital Editions (which was not disclosed). As the other one-star reviews indicate, this is barely a reading app and worse, it is extremely buggy. I opened the iPad version and there were blank pages and pages with very faint writing throughout - it turns out that this can be fixed by switching to dark or sepia mode, but this bug has been reported since 2021 and nothing has been done to fix it (or indeed even just to default to sepia mode so you don’t think your file is broken). In future, will always purchase paper rather than anything that is limited to ADE.

Completely unusable. Don’t bother.. Can’t even read the getting started document that comes with this thing to figure out how to get my books to work because half the pages appear blank or as if someone’s turned the exposure and contrast all the way up. Can’t sign in to adobe either as it says my username/password are incorrect (I’m trying to sign in with my student account) despite the fact that I’ve successfully been able to log in to every other adobe app using these. The app is so bad and it absolutely astonishing that this comes from Adobe of all companies.

Barely works. Terrible user experience. I downloaded a university book and had a lot of problems. The text is missing in half the pages, and I got a “file does not exist” error. I cannot read the library ebook but unfortunately this is the only supported software

Uggh.. I purchased a book months ago and read it. As it was a reference book I am wanting to read it again and there are only a couple of pages opening. Some are blurred out and other pages are patchy or blank. Not happy. All I want to do is read the book I purchased. Tried to put app on my other device using correct password and purchases don’t even show up there. If I could have downloaded it into iBooks I would have but adobe didn’t give me that option. This is just blatant stealing. I now have no book and will never use this terrible app again.

Horrible app. Knowing Adobe app I was expecting much better. It’s not practical, there are many glitches, the scrolling through pages is terrible and more!! If I wasn’t stuck with it for school (since it’s the only app authorized for the book I bought) I would most definitely never recommend this app.

Worst app ever. This is absolutely the worst e-reader ever. My books don’t load properly and the app is just overall hard to use. Avoid using this app if possible.

Crashes Every Time I Use It and Deletes Highlighting. I only just recently had to get the app for one of my classes and it is by far the worst ebook reader app I’ve used. Every time I highlight something it crashes and closes out if the app and deletes all of the highlights I’ve made up to that point, it’s extremely frustrating. Also, this app doesn’t allow for split screening on the iPad Air so it’s difficult to take notes at the same time. This wouldn’t be so bad if the highlighting function worked and I could come back later to take notes, but it doesn’t. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for the app, but the textbook I had to purchase for my course is basically useless to me because of all the issues with the app.

Terrible. Highlighting is spotty and won’t stop freezing. Can’t believe My school forced us to use this app for a textbook

Adobe should be ashamed. The garbage quality of this app is appalling. The fact that Adobe puts so little care into an app which people use to read books that they get from the library or textbooks for school is utterly shameful, especially knowing that there is no other way to read DRM books so people are held hostage. We all know that Adobe can develop functional and useful apps if they want to, but apparently all of their resources go into the ones that make them a ton of money. Library books and textbooks are clearly not as lucrative and so this pile of garbage stays as it is. Disgusting greed on display. Shameful.

Useless. Who designed such an application? It is absolutely useless. It is difficult to set up and when it is set up it doesn’t work. To avoid and to avoid any adobe product. It is well documented by the reviews that this is a terrible app but nothing has been done to improve it

The worst. One, if not the worst app for e-book. Some pages are missing and the app is slow

Worked great for the last year until this week. Everything’s been working without issue for over a year. Then this past week it began to randomly fail with pages wouldn’t turn, black text on black background, unable to advance to next chapter, advancing to the next page would be 3-5 pages ahead, etc.

Another failure by Adobe. Tell me Adobe made this app without telling me Adobe made this app. Frequent crashes. Extremely slow. Download failed due to “connection error” without having any connection error. Can’t properly handle pdf (their own file format). Does not display the pages in the right order. Missing pages. Colors are all messed up. When reading (or should I say trying to read) a comic, bubbles and even images are not properly aligned. Doesn’t open automatically it’s own files. Takes 2 minutes to download 50 MB. Latest version update: 2 years ago. If you are an ebook provider, please select another company to manage your products.

Awful. Worst app ever. If I could give 0 stars I would

Just terrible. This app is so buggy and useless. It crashes a lot and it doesn't save the words I've highlighted. It's very frustrating because a lot of students are required to download this app to access their textbooks and we have no choice but to tolerate this stupid app.

What a piece of rubbish!. Can’t even display its own manual properly. Simply doesn’t work (on iPhone 13 mini).

Poor formatting. This app is truly terrible. Not only is it’s entire reason for being to implement clunky DRM, it doesn’t even work well. Pages are formatted poorly. Scrolling and turning pages often doesn’t work. Heaven forbid you try and rotate your screen to see a picture better. Adobe should fix this!

The worst. Terrible app. Doesn’t even deserve the minimum star.

Broken. This is a joke..iPhone 14 pro. Not loading a thing…how is this still available in the app store?!

Très problématique. Et le soutien technique ne permet pas de résoudre les problèmes. Résultat: impossible de lire les livres empruntés sur une liseuse Kobo.

Garbage. This app is the worst in digital editions, does not sync between my devices, highlighting is a headache, my focus goes in working with the app instead of reading.

Terrible app. How can anyone be expected to use this.Highlighting does not work. Can’t make notes with Apple Pencil. Why would a any company want to use this app for online learning? DRM Protection prevents using any other apps to open material. What a joke.

Garbage. Where you got those idiot developers?

This wretched app crashed my iPad repeatedly. I was trying to use Adobe Digital Editions to read publisher’s advance review copies because they have DRM and require a reader with Adobe ID. This app is, frankly, garbage. It got to the point where it finally wouldn’t do anything but crash my iPad whenever I opened a book. After discovering an alternative to this wretched app, I have successfully downloaded the Bluefire Reader App instead and will be using that in the future.

Really poor software. I can’t believe this software was released. The most basic use case: download an epub version of a book from a library to my IPad mini fails. The DE authorization does not work with a valid Adobe account. I’ll use a browser, thanks.

Ludacris!. For such a big name and major player your app does not meet the expectations. Your highlighter doesn’t work. In order for me to see the text I have to enlarge it (which is not the problem) I have to minimize it in order to highlight the text. I don’t feel your app meets the ADOA requirements to support someone with a disability. Why cant my highlight transfer over to my another device? This is Ludacris! Major educational institutions are relying on you guys and you are def letting them and us down.

Don’t buy this. Absolutely terrible, slow and doesn’t even work properly

Unusable. I’d give this app zero stars. It’s absolutely useless. Its DRM policies management is cumbersome at best. When you get past the DRM labyrinth and fulfill a request (add a document to your library), the downloaded document is unreadable. I’m talking about blank pages throughout the document or pages with only bits of text—pieces of letters scattered about the pages—or text sliced into columns across multiple pages, as if a kidnapper was creating a ransom note out of letters he cut out of a magazine. You’d think Adobe would have put just a wee bit more care into developing this app, but clearly that’s not a priority for Adobe. By extension, neither are its customers, many of whom might just have no choice but to rely on this app to access educational content through their colleges, universities, etc. Thanks for nothing, Adobe.

WORST APP EVER. Wish there was 0 stars rating. I am so frustrated I paid money for a textbook that I cannot even read because this app is so horrible. How is anyone actually supposed to use this?! Can’t highlight or make notes with apple pencil. Can’t even turn the page!!! USELESS! This app is a joke!

Pure trash. How an e-reader app can be this bad is beyond me. Laggy. Crashes constantly. Unnavigable. I can’t wait to never have to use this app again.

Cochonneries. Toujours désynchronisé avec l’identifiant adobe. J’ai passé 1h à essayer de changer mon mot de passe pour ensuite me faire dire que le livre que j’avais acheté avait été acheté avec un autre compte…

Garbage. This app is terrible. Computer version isn’t any better. Crashes every 5 minutes, causing me to lose what I’ve highlighted. It will get slow and glitchy randomly and crash shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, this was the app I was forced to use to claim the digital version of the textbook I purchased.

Application pourri. Ça vaut rien comment peut-on mettre sur le marché une telle application ?

The world’s worst app. Is there anything less than zero stars? I wanted to read a book published by UToronto Press and it forces me to download this reader. Needless to say I still haven’t read the first letter of the book because I can’t figure out how this App works. Seriously, am I being pranked?

This really is a terrible app-from Adobe? Makes no sense. I just download this because my local library uses this app to be able to read ebooks that you’ve downloaded. Well no matter what I do the book won’t open to be readable. It shows it’s linked with the app cover but nothing. Plus when I try to read the manual in the library of the app, it showed the first few pages but then they all went blank and then one page looks like someone erased half the content (just visually) and now I can’t get any of the pages to load. And that’s on 5G. So no idea how to even use this or read my book!

Time warp. It’s like going back to the early 90’s software. Avoid if at all possible. One star is one too many.

Unreliable. The app always crashes or lags. I had to use this for a textbook, but if you can find your textbooks on any other platform such as kindle, I would highly recommend it

Horrible app. I can’t imagine an app like this from worlds one of the best creative company Adobe! Please try to use it yourself and see what I meant. Thanks

The Worst Ever. Has me cussing & fuming with rage. This app is the absolute worst app I have ever had to deal with. It is insane how our institutions require this disgusting vile app to read books on. For iPhone, it glitches and lags. If you wish to highlight something, it highlights something else. This app is a walking nightmare that lives in the pits of hell. On laptop, it also lags and glitches constantly. My only advice to everyone who undergoes this suffering is to read on a laptop. It is painful, but it gets the job done. My condolences to whoever has to go through all of this pain. Curse whoever made this app.

No zoom in option. Why can’t I zoom in on text??! This is basic. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Awful. Terrible loading glitches, constant highlighting and note glitches, such a shame to have to read a purchased book on here. Makes the book a waste of money.

i figured the app would at least kind of work. it did not work. it did not tell me it did not work, but it did not tell me anything. i tapped on everything, i opened an ascm file, and it just kinda didn't do anything. no feedback on if i'd done anything right or wrong, nothing. also my phone is fast as hell but typing my email into the adobe id field was very laggy. what a mess

Worst app ever. Doesn't work at all.

Terrible - do not waste your time. I downloaded this app to use with a book download and it is terrible. Half the pages aren’t loading, the print is faded and it was a complete waste of $30. Don’t bother.

Terrible app. If this weren’t for the fact that this is the only platform the book I want were on, I would have nothing to do with this app. The best that I can say is that it will perform as expected: VERY BADLY

Worthless. Incredibly slow reader which requires an adobe id login in order to read a pdf file. Literally any browser or any other reader works much better.

Yes terrible app. Adobe is supposed to be a competent company. On a Mac, this app seems to work ok. But on iOS, the book I’m trying to read is absolutely unreadable. Most pages are blank, text is atrociously laid out and much of the text is missing. Totally unusable!

Adobe Digital Editions on a new iPad. Everything is now working well, but I realise that the background of the page must be adjusted to the sepia colour (one click on the bottom of the page, middle button for brightness). If the page background stays light white, several pages in the book will fade or disappear. Ok, this doesn’t cause any problems for reading if the sepia adjustment is done, it’s even better and more relaxing for the view (I prefer that). However, it should only be indicated somewhere that this adjustment is necessary on iPadOS 16, and the light white background page doesn’t work. Otherwise, thumbs up for this free app!

Total Crap. Adobe Digital Additions is total crap. I wish I could give it a zero rating. If you can use any other program then do so. Adobe should be ashamed of this product. Apple has a far superior app for eBooks but my source in this case isn't compatible.

There is a way ton connect adobe id?. The app have major issue, it’s purpose is not working update asap?

HORRIBLE. This is the most awful, least user friendly app I have ever used in my entire life. I want to pull all of my hair out.

HORRIBLE APP. This app is so terrible in functionality, I’d rather pay $19 for a book from Kindle than struggle with this app to get it for free. Really a terrible app. Impossible to login. Really terrible integration. The desktop version of this app is even worse. You cannot customize or change preferences. Impossible to do anything with this app. I would give it zero stars if I could.

This is the worst.. You guys really went out of your way to make the worst piece of trash App I ever had to download. Unfortunately I need to use this app for school and it has given me nothing but headaches since day one. The app constantly crashes when you try to flip thru pages. It takes a few minutes just to load the next page. The zoom function is horrible too I have to use a magnifying glass just to read the books. I understand you guys want to get in to the eReader market, but come on. Please don’t download this app if you enjoy reading books.

How can you make such bad app?. I downloaded this app because my university’s digital library only allowed me to download the document to this app, but I must say my uni didn’t know how bad this app could be. I first thought I didn’t download correctly, because every page were blank. But then I realized there were some fainting scratchy words starting to appear. After half’n hour, there was this book, clearly print, only on odd number pages, and even number pages were completely white. This is a fascinating level of awfulness nobody can ever imagine. Such an amazing garbage.

How to make this “woke” app work. I downloaded a book from the University catalog that required this app to read. At first, the text was blurry and then the pages were completely blank, but when I changed the page background color to black or brown, the book was perfect. This app is apparently “woke” and does not work with white backgrounds.

Worst E-Reader Known to Man. I have literally never reviewed an app in my life, but I feel so strongly about how awful this is that I have to leave this review. Reading the book I downloaded (which for some reason can only be opened with this app) is pretty much impossible. If I try to flip more than 2 or 3 pages forward or backward, it freezes. The search button only works half the time. I had to fight to even open my book in the app in the first place. This app is pure garbage. If you don’t need to use it, avoid at all costs. If you are forced to, like me, I’m so sorry. I would give zero stars if I could.

Terrible option for reading anything. Doesn’t sync reading history, bookmarks, or highlights across devices. Turn phone sideways and it automatically takes me back to the beginning of the chapter. Search doesn’t bring up complete results. “Go to page” and “go to bookmark” both bring up incorrect pages. Every other time I open the book it starts back at the beginning and I have to find the page again. Program is both faulty and inconvenient, yet the only choice I had for this particular book I purchased.

Horrible App. Took forever to figure out how to download my book and I’m not technically challenged. Once the book was on the app it never worked correctly. Trying to “turn the page” as I read was slow and you have to drag your finger slowly across the entire page to get it to respond. Then if I quit reading and went back to read later, the text wouldn’t show up or it would be in little partial blocks in the top corner. So frustrating that I gave up trying to read. I’ll use the kindle app from now on and if this is the app that BAM! continues to use for downloads then they’ll lose a lot of business.

Meh. Could be better. There are a couple of files I can’t delete. Permanently stuck with them. Then, other files are deleted randomly. I’m uploading from my own device. What’s the issue? Also, upon uploading a file, it duplicates it. When I delete one, the other appears corrupted. So I have to delete both and reupload the book or file in order to have it appear only once. Then, pray it doesn’t delete itself or somehow become corrupted. It’s kind of a mess of an app. No updates to fix bugs either. When it works, sure, it’s nice.

Abysmal 'technology'. The purpose of consumer technology is to make human lives easier and more efficient. This product does precisely the opposite. By inserting itself clumsily into what were previously smooth workflows, it hampers experience at every turn. Poor user interface, many lags and glitches, impossibly restrictive sharing features. This is several steps backwards from Gutenberg, to wit, I would much prefer bound volumes I could keep at my desk--they would be so much easier to use. This entire product is a dark smirch on Adobe's good name. If I see that a book is available through Adobe Digital Editions, next time I will be wise enough to run the other way.

Crappy. Looking at previous reviews, it’s obvious Adobe doesn’t care about this product or its customers. This product either crashes or doesn’t open for paid e-books on my two (new iPads) and customer support is non-existent (chat support is useless). Very different from their subscription based products. Guess it’s true, that you get what you pay for (this free product). Unfortunately many publishers (Jeppesen Aviation in my case) require using this crappy product to view their e-books. Guess, I’m back to “old school” paper manual. Sigh....

Garbage App. This app is trash but unfortunately we are forced to use it. I was scrolling through the ratings and found an interesting tid bit. One user suggested changing the background within the app. For me when I was in plain white background mode the 800+ pages would not load. It resulted in sporadic text but when the background color in the app is changed to black or brown the book loads perfectly. Hopefully this saves some of you a little bit of a headache. There are definitely other issues that I will come across but for now I wanted to reiterate that review, so it will help some of you going forward.

Garbage App. I downloaded this because it’s the software my test prep institution publishes their online textbooks on. God help you if you want to use it. Not only is the interface not sized to an Apple screen, not only is it clunky and unpleasant to use, it’s also impossible to read from books when they’re on normal, light mode. I don’t know if it’s just me but the text literally does not show up. I have to use dark mode or off white. The developers were probably rushed, but my god is this a poor result. Do not use this unless you have to.

Wouldn’t Load Pages Properly. I tried to read my ebooks in this app but the ADE fails to display the text with out parts of it if not a good chunk of the text is missing, parts of words and letters are missing and other content does not display at all or only bits and pieces. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and still the same thing. I used this app on my iPad Air (5th edition) running iOS 16. I hope Adobe fixes the many bugs with their software. I would expect better software from Adobe. I ended up using Bluefire Reader which works so much better for me.

What a joke. All of the pages of my books are scrambled and unreadable. The sad part is that the third party ebook service that my college uses requires Editions to download books. So I’m stuck reading them on the website, which is a subpar experience. I don’t get why a company like Adobe can’t produce a good reader. If you look online the problems go back years. I also downloaded this on my desktop and it cause a host of problems, one of them being completely wiping out my desktop wallpaper. ??????. What a waste. Any self respecting institution should vet their third party ebook platform to make sure that Editions isn’t a requirement.

Shockingly Terrible. I am forced to use this app to read eBooks borrowed from my school library. I have spent more time trying to get this app to work than I have been able to spend actually reading. Pages won’t load or randomly disappear after they load. It frequently jumps me back by 10 pages and when I try to navigate to the page I had been on, shocker, it won’t load. Not sure how you’ve managed to do such a terrible job Adobe, but you have. Considering the number of awful reviews and how long they’ve been coming in, I’m guessing there aren’t any plans in the works to fix these issues.

Unable to download e-books from library. I tried to use this app to download Overdrive e-books borrowed from our county library. The app fails to connect with the fulfillment server, so e-books can't download. I tried the app on my iPhone 5S, iPad Air 2 and Samsung tablet, with the same frustrating results. I was however able to successfully use the PC version of Adobe Digital Editions, and can transfer downloaded e-books onto my Nook Simple Touch Reader. For smartphone and tablet users who want to borrow Overdrive e-books from a library, I would highly recommend the Libby app. It's excellent!

Waiting for an update. Purchased an ebook that required Adobe Digital Editions but cannot download it onto my iOS 13 devices. When you click the download link, the file gets downloaded, without any notice, into a downloads folder I the newly existent Files. Unfortunately, I cannot load it into ADE as it is not one of the places I can “share” to from the downloads folder. I visited the adobe users group, where I found out where all 9 of my download attempts had disappeared into. So waiting for the update from somebody.

This app failed to execute a basic function.. Here is the task I was trying to accomplish: Checkout an ebook from my library and read it on my 2020 iPad Pro. I had been using Kindle, and I decided to try Adobe Digital Editions. I was able to view the cover art. I spent 15 minutes on help forums, trying solutions to similar problems with no success. I stopped when I tried to delete the book so that I could retry downloading the book. Delete does not remove the title from my library. Here is where I stand: I can look at the cover art. I cannot read a single word of text. I cannot delete document. I can delete the app. I am surprised that it is in the App Store at all. One of the things that Apple uses to justify their high vendor fees is a rigorous set of vetting procedures. I hope that Apple QA engineers will take another look at this app and remove it from the store or make the vendor fix it. Downloading this app was a complete waste of my time. One star is generous IMO.

Exceptionally bad app. This app strikes me as a rushed application to place greater copyright control on pdf documents that was born out of necessity but was merely an afterthought. This app is both bugged and not user friendly. Every document I’ve opened on it looks like a scan of a paper that was running out of ink. Outside of that it crashes constantly and gives almost no control on how you view the documents. If my school didn’t require me to use this to access textbooks, I would absolutely never use this. I recommend that if you are able to avoid using this that you do at all cost.

Absolutely Useless. When I had to download this app to read a book from my school library and saw the review, I thought “it can’t be that bad… its Adobe!” Yeah… I’m not sure Adobe could put out a worse app than this. It crashes constantly, the search function doesn’t work, you can’t copy/paste, you can only highlight in blinding neon green, the text will not show up at all using certain color themes, using the “contents” section to jump to a chapter inconsistently works, I can’t split screen to take notes for a paper. I could go on. This app is painfully bad.

Don’t waste your time. I had to download this app for a school book that I could only read in this app. At first I wasn’t really concerned Bc it’s an Adobe app. I spent so much money on a book that I can’t even read, all the pages appear blank. Then I deleted the app and re downloaded it and when I logged in my book didn’t even show up leaving me with the option to re buy the book and I still wasn’t able to read the book. Please don’t get this app its a waste of time and money it’s not worth it.

Latest update broke something. I've used this app to read library ebooks for a couple months and it was working well. But after the latest update it does not seem to synch up correctly. There are several "ghost" books - icons of books no longer checked out - that cannot be deleted. And sometimes a book does not get downloaded correctly and I can't read it. I've tried with & without the auto download setting, and with & without being logged in to my online library portal. I'm about ready to give up.

Absolutely Awful and Time Wasting. This is the only app several of my school reference and research ebooks and documents will download to, and it's absolutely awful. Sometimes books only half appear, sometimes only every other page is visible, sometimes only portions of every letter are visible and sometimes only that for a portion of a page. An absolute time and patience killer. If you find a page you need, screenshot it because the likelihood you'll get that page to download again when you need it is way less than 50%.

Should be 0 stars. I’m not sure how this app is available or how anyone is supposed to use it? Not only is downloading books to it complicated but when trying to read anything one page may have words on it, the next may be blank, and the next may have a page where the words aren’t fully loaded so you can only see words are supposed to be there but they don’t actually show up. Someone dropped the ball on their app creating/updates and it’s absolutely horrible. Do NOT recommend. The reviews are all accurate and it’s as bad as it sounds. DO recommend finding another app to use.

Frustrating and slow. I am forced to use this app because many of the digital books I need for school I can only read on this platform. That being said, scrolling through the pages is slow, frustrating, and has hindered me from doing the reading at times. If there is a way to zoom out or jump to certain chapters and pages I cannot figure it out even though I have been looking for months. I have decided to pay for some free books that I have on this app simply to avoid the frustration of trying to use it. If you have other options, go with those

Horrible app. It does not render the book correctly. Most pages are unreadable. I think Adobe has relied on its name recognition and acceptance in the industry to secure its position as the keeper of all things readable, but if this while I have some minor gripes about Acrobat, this app simply does not work. Being the only game in town to be used with the secured e-books, Adobe should be putting forth an extra effort to make sure this app is functional, but seeing how it hasn’t been updated for a year despite the overwhelming 1 star reviews makes my overall impression of the company very negative. Avoid it if you can.

I see I’m not alone being unsatisfied by this app!. I can’t tell for sure whether it’s the Adobe app or the e-books I’ve bought ($85), but this is definitely the biggest rip-off. Pages are missing or look undeveloped. And now the app just won’t load anything! I wonder how long this has been an issue, since the app hasn’t even been updated in the past two years. You would think the publisher from whom I bought these books would be on top of this. Well, I guess I need to try and get a refund. Wish me luck!

Incomprehensibly basic and buggy app. I can’t believe this app is made by Adobe and not someone trying to make his first iPad app in his free time. Not only is it incredibly basic and feature deprived, most of the time PDF pages are rendered illegibly, as if looking at a 10th generation low-grade photocopy. At first I was just annoyed by things like lack of keyboard support or basic iOS functionality like looking up word definitions, but it turns out you can’t even read the book either. How on earth does Adobe get away with being the format used by so many libraries? Utterly appalling. Beyond appalling.

Useless. Two years after the critical reviews were posted and nothing has changed. Text is unreadable on this app. It is useless. I also spent 40 bucks on a book I badly wanted to read and which had no Kindle option. Publishers may reject Kindle but are doing a disservice to their writers by forcing readers to choose this useless app where text appears one every fifteen pages and then only half appears on others. Don’t buy this app. Don’t use it. Don’t fall for it. I love other Adobe products but this is just terrible.

Library books. Have to use this app to read library books. Unfortunately, there is no option to return the books early. Once you download the max number of books, you cannot borrow more from the library until the borrowing period expires. I’ve tried help forums, no luck. There simply is no option in the main menu, pop up menu on the book in main library view, or within the book itself for returning early. Frustrating. Do not recommend, but the library doesn’t give you an option.

Worst app I’ve ever used. I’m supposed to read 1800 pages for school and the only way to read this book is with this app. I get to page 8 and swipe one time and I’m on page 385. I can’t zoom in everything is laggy words are cut off. Absolute embarrassment of an app. Would rate lower than 1 star if possible. Hopefully you aren’t downloading it to get something done because you won’t get it done. Terrible terrible terrible app. Creators of this should be ashamed for putting this abomination on the App Store.

Figured out the problem. I was having the same issues, pages where a mess and unreadable, some where even blank, I clicked the middle sun icon on the bottom and switched the font settings and it fixed all of the pages and made them readable. Hope this helps out anyone with the issue.

Initially ridiculous, but I guess it works. This app opens in a distorted pdf. You just change the background to get it to function properly. Then go to settings and authorize. Once you authorize, it seems to work well. You are able to view authorized documents. However, the user interface seems clumsy, not very user friendly. Also, the app does not have a read aloud feature which is pretty standard on these type of apps

Worthless. I downloaded a book from the Internet Archive, which told me I would need Adobe Digital Editions to read it. I downloaded and installed it on my iPad, but I cannot figure out how to load the .acsm file. No instructions are given and none of the visible controls allow loading a file or adding a document. There is a “Getting Started” document included with ADE, but even it does not display properly and many pages are distorted or missing. A web search for a “how to” was no assistance. This app is seriously disappointing.

Everyone agrees: useless garbage. This is close to the worst app on the store. Unfortunately adobe has a strangle hold on book drm. So this is the only option to read books you have the rights to read but the app doesn’t work at all. Impossible to read the book or even import it. This app violates the warranty of merchantability. Unfortunately the app is free, they make their money on the back end somehow but creating a drm format that prevents all use of the digital content. I wish there were a way to make this review even worse and make any difference. Shame on everyone at adobe involved in this app and book drm.

Terrible unless on a desktop. I rarely write reviews, but unfortunately I am required to use adobe digital edition specifically for ebooks. It is baffling that there isn’t a highlighting option available for iPhone use, rendering it basically useless. Sure, I can read it (sort of) but the enlarging text feature doesn’t work, and there’s no zoom option. Unless you plan on reading on a computer, pick literally any other app for reading. PLEASE add features Adobe. The reviews overall are below 2 stars. I would hope that this would inspire adobe to improve this app.

This app needs a lot of work but is basic. App does not allow you to manually type a page number and go to it, it has a dragging scale and even that does not have a page number showing while you drag. When you slide to the next page it’s slow and lags behind so you can’t scroll super fast to get to 5 pages ahead or so. It’s a basic app if you need it for a textbook or book to be read on (like I do) but it is by no means good. Just enough for you to open your digital book. No more no less.

I thought 2K 1-star reviews might be wrong. I was mistaken.. Downloaded the app as a requirement for reading an ebook, couldn’t figure out how to open said ebook in said app. Tried reading the user manual, and half of the pages are blank, and the half that aren’t are too glitched out to read anything. Tried using App Support and after explaining clearly *exactly* what was going on, the “simple” chatbot replied with “Tell me what app you need help with” like I hadn’t already explicitly said it three times. Having a DRM app this unusable is actively encouraging piracy.

Worst app I’ve ever used. It’s beyond bad. First, it takes like 10 seconds to flip a page. The fonts are sometimes rendering in a real bad way. It can’t remember where you left off and you have to find your page again… and it takes forever given what I said earlier. It was so frustrating that I went and downloaded an alternative app that was much better (BlueFire Reader). It’s unbelievable that a huge corporation such as Adobe can’t develop a very basic reader app. It’s literally unusable.

Ask for refund from any publisher forcing you to this app. It hasn’t been supported by Adobe for two years, and has a miserable rating that will only get worse. Even if you get all the permissions headaches to work, it constantly freezes, and does not pick up where you left off. If you need to read a massive text book, you will be restarting the app every few pages, adding hours to your total reading time. Publishers have no incentive to find a better solution if you don’t force their hand. Do not give them money to keep forcing students onto an unusable app. This is a rip off.

Falls short in every way. I don’t understand why companies continue to use trash e-readers from adobe when there are so many better programs out there. Had to use this because my book was only available through this program. Provides highlighting but app crashes and deletes all highlights. Additionally, in only has one view so if you are in landscape mode on a device (iPad or something of the sort with a keyboard attached) the program only shows one page and makes everything small and difficult to read.

Really frustrating app. Most Bay Area technology vendors design their products to wow the user. They make it easy for the consumer to sign up and get started in mere seconds and then have a pleasurable experience as you use the product. Not these guys. Not at all. It looks like the User’s experience is the last thing on Adobe’s mind. They just don’t care if you like it or not. They still design their products as if it were the 1990s. Rest assured you will have a frustrating and infuriating experience with this app that will turn you off from using any Adobe product at all.

Not useful for students. I only use this app because the electronic textbook a purchased required it. I usually prefer using digital textbooks because of the increased ability to annotate right notes and transfer between platforms. This service makes highlighting, annotating and any note taking exceptionally difficult. And I understand that Its function is to maintain the copyright status of its products karma it makes maneuverability, studying and any other actions that a student would take impossible. It manages to make the Apple Pencil unusable. I used digital textbooks to stream lying my studying process, but this app increases the amount of time I'd spend studying tenold.

Lack of functionality. As a student, when you spend over $100 on a text book, it shouldn’t be too much to ask to be able to highlight, annotate, or even just *read the footnotes* without scrolling through endless pages. All of these things and more are made nigh on impossible in this app! Doesn’t support Apple Pencil. Has one clunky, ugly highlight option that is cumbersome to use. You would be better off scanning a book and using Acrobat. Just a terrible app clearly only focused on DRM. How they managed to convince publishers that this is a decent format is beyond me.

Pretty aggravating to use 😩. Using this app for my school textbook... it is constantly crashing. Super hard to focus on studying when I have to force close then reopen the app every 5 minutes. Even then it still glitches. Will get stuck between pages while scrolling. Worst of all I have to minimize the app after reading and highlighting each page because it will delete any highlighting if it crashes. I figured out that minimizing will “save” your highlights. Unfortunately my textbook is not available in any other format (I checked) or else this would’ve been deleted after the first day it was installed. I hope it gets fixed!

What is going on here ?. Purchased an E-book through a website that required me to use this Adobe app to read it. I just started reading the book, I’m about 7 pages in and I’m so frustrated with the app that I’m going to delete it, purchase the book again through my iphone books app and take the loss. It had problems with zooming and loading mostly. Words get cut off when you zoom in so you have to zoom back out and then it’s over sensitive and zooms way out and then freezes when you try to turn the pages. No thanks. Needs a lot of improvement.

Consistently Malfunctions. Accidentally downloaded a library book which required this app, and that proved to be a terrible mistake. Perhaps 1 out 6 times I opened the app it worked correctly. The remainder of the times it exhibited any number of bugs, including not displaying the page at all, showing only a small fragment of it, refusing to turn the page, etc. Moreover if I was to switch to another app and then return, it was almost certain that the app was to break and I’d have to go through the ordeal of quitting and reopening the app multiple times until it worked.

Missing pages and words. I have this app on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. Works fine on Mac. My book is is unreadable on the iPhone - either the font is too big, fitting only about 5 words on the entire page, or the words become transparent aka impossible to read when I try to make the font smaller. On the iPad the formatting looks okay but entire pages are randomly missing, so when you turn the page you just get a blank page instead of the actual text. This means that the mobile versions of this app are absolutely useless. I’m frankly baffled at how Adobe can publish and allegedly maintain such a junk app.

so disppointing. i dont ever write reviews, but im a grad student and have to use this app to read publications from eBrary and project muse thru this app instead of adobe reader and im so mad about it because this app has no features. i cant highlight, i cant add notes, i cant write notes using my ipad, i cant look up words... and those are the basics of what i expect from a reading app. if i have to use this to do my school work, i expect to have an app that functions as more then just a file holder. i dont want functions added, i rather have u change your platform so epub files are easily accessible thru adobe reader bc its a better app overall and all of my files are already on it.

Doesn’t work and poor customer service. Wow I can see why theirs such a low rating on this app. I was completely unable to download books per the instructions within the app, even after “authorizing” my account. I contacted support. They first sent me a link to a user forum which I couldn’t reach because “content is restricted.” Then they sent me to FAQs which didn’t even apply to my situation. They had me wait for a while then finally came back with “[My name] we dn't support this issue here . You need to go with the forum .” (Spelling and punctuation mistakes his). Just wow.

Awful app. Cannot use highlighting.. I should have purchased the hard copy of the book. I can read it just fine, but it’s extremely limited. When I highlight a passage, the highlighting shows up on subsequent pages as a sort of ghost or artifact. I then cannot read the text on the subsequent pages. In order to read the text, I must go in and delete all my highlighting…and then never use that “feature” again. The worst thing is that the ebook cost me the same amount that a printed version would have!!! All I saved was a few bucks on shipping.
