- Love the app, but please add this feature!!

I’ve been using VSCO for many years now and I love it—their presets are amazing and the “look” VSCO has mastered even persuaded me to upgrade to the full version. I really love being able to create journals, which brings me to my next point: please please PLEASE (i’m literally begging u) create a feature that allows owners to download images from their journals. I ended up creating a bunch of journals with some of my favorite edited photos, then lost my phone (and with it my artist studio) and as a result, I no longer have access to downloading the edited versions. While I sometimes do copy and paste edits, I typically make small individual changes and to go through the entire process for each journal would take hours. Please make this option available—it wouldn’t even have to be for public use, but at least give owners of the photos the option. I would be so appreciative! Otherwise I have 0 complaints and suggest it to anyone who enjoys photography.

- It’s cool

I really enjoy vsco, it’s a fun app I know many people who wish there were comments and likes things that normal social media apps have but I don’t mind, it has good filters but I wish there were more things for free. Don’t get me wrong this app has a lot of free things, but personally I’d love to have the filters the membership offers, but I don’t feel like paying money for it since I don’t use it to often. Just a suggestion. I ,however, do really enjoy the free Dsco feature I love taking short clips and I like how that’s free, it’s also a shame that I think you have to be a part of the membership to post videos. But unlike other apps this app has a lot more than just filters and has things like exposure and contrast to match what you think looks best on the picture there’s a large variety of things you can use to edit your picture, and I have to say they look amazing, I also like how you can repost it and favorite it, it’s different and I like how you can see the posts you have respirated, I also love the discover feature so you can see cool images that other people have posted I defiantly use the studio a lot to edit my apps, and I personally don’t own any social media but it’s cool that it can save to your camera roll and you can post it in other social media apps. Overall, it’s a great app and I would recommend it to a friend (I have actually)

- new layout is HORRIBLE

Not sure how new this layout is, if my app just now updated an old update or if this is brand new, but the new layout of the app is HORRIBLE. It is in no way, shape, or form user-friendly. I tend to dump a bunch of pictures into VSCO and then edit them, saving as I go. Now I have to scroll through my camera roll and I can only select ONE PHOTO at a time, I have to edit it right then and there, there’s no option to upload a bunch of pictures and then edit them later, and if I wanted to do that I would have to individually select each picture and “save to drafts” for every single one, scrolling back through my camera roll each time and THEN I can go to the SEPARATE “Drafts” tab to edit it. One of the worst parts of this whole feature is that if I select a picture and edit it right there in the “Studio - Camera Roll” tab, there is no way to save it to my camera roll AND save it to my drafts. So if I want to save it, I have to individually add it to my drafts, then change tabs, and edit/save it from there. If I want to edit it then save it from the Camera Roll tab, I have no way to go back and edit it later because it doesn’t go into my drafts, where it would normally be stored. I cannot emphasize enough, this update is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I am so disappointed and know that VSCO can do much better — it’s as if no one thought these changes through. Very disappointed. Please go back to the old setup.

- always room for improvement

I personally think VSCO is a great alternative to not only IG, but a great platform to share photos with other editors! I love the fact that there is no number associated with each post. All the social standards of having “a lot of likes/comments” is not an issue here. It allows creators to really just focus on expressing themselves through photo editing. I would like to say the same for video but it’s only available to members, which are those who can afford to do so; leaving those who aren’t as fortunate enough without that opportunity. I think making VSCO’s video feature free would really attract more users. In addition, I love how vsco can be easily linked to instagram (amongst other apps as well), but I dislike the fact that one must scroll and see every individual photo. I think if VSCO adapted a similar case to instagram, where photos are all in collages so that one can see multiple photos at once, rather than scrolling to view each individual one, it would be much more efficient. I guess being able to view VSCO through Instagram where one can see view multiple photos instead of scrolling down through every picture. Kind of like the desktop version of VSCO but on mobile (thru links). Overall, it’s a great app!!

- Love it, just a couple easy fixes!

VSCO is my go-to for chill photo sharing and editing. Super simple and elegant. Just a couple things to fix: - On iPad, the feed always glitches and is a nightmare to use. The photos on my timeline will be super blown up, rotation to portrait/landscape mode always confuses the app, and it takes several attempts at quitting the app and refreshing the feed to be able to see the entire photo. I usually end up just going on my phone to enjoy my friend’s photos. - Discovering and searching for friends could be better. I often find my friends have an account, which is exciting but also disappointing because I wanted to find them sooner! Possibly integration with other social media channels or better account discovery would be nice. I would also love to discover more creators and amazing photographers outside of what VSCO reposts! - I also want the ability to search in my followers/ing list- I get it’s not supposed to be like a hyper-social app but it would be nice to quickly search for my friend and see their latest photography. - The recipes feature is really confusing- every once in a while I’ll try to figure out how to set it and change it and such but I usually end up manually editing the photo.

- Hate update from a while ago

I loved vsco but I hate the storing now because it all goes to my camera roll but that just takes up more storage I like to keep my pictures I take on vsco on vsco and the only way I can keep them if I delete it from my camera roll is if I post it but I don’t post every picture I take I like to just mess around with some of mine that I don’t want everyone to see. Please fix this so many people have complained about it and still it hasn’t been fixed I about want to use a new app but. I think you guys should also add the feature to make our vsco account private. Another thing that irritates me is that if I delete my vsco or something happens or say I got a new phone when I download vsco again all my old photos will be gone and yes I know I can save them to my camera roll to back them up but I hate having my vsco pictures on my camera roll I got vsco so my friends could see my fun pictures that I edit I don’t want to have to save my vsco pictures to my camera roll or another app it’s just better to have them on there. Please fix this it’s getting a little annoying and infuriating. I would prefer to not have to switch to another editing app when you guys can just switch it back to the original version you had it.

- VSCO journals/ new update

This used to be my favorite social media app because it has never been related to likes or the amount of followers you have. I have been using VSCO for over 6 years now and recently the quality of the app has GREATLY depleted. I am constantly having issues with cropping my photos. I woke up this morning to see my app had updated and that all my Journals were removed. I looked up online and found that VSCO has gotten rid of the journal section for good starting today. I have 6 years of photo journals on this app, that are now all deleted. They creators said this change happened because journals are not creative and they want to keep this a creative space. Well I have been using journals to group photos together like an online scrapbook. Along with that I am an artist and use them to keep track of my progress, so remind me why that isn’t creative enough for you? I am so upset by the removal of journals and all my hard work on keeping my journals up to date with good captions is now gone. The least they could have done was give a warning about this so I could have saved them before they got completely removed. And worst of all I tried contacting the VSCO team to see if there is a way to recover my journals and they have zero information on their website on how to get in touch. Not even an email.

- Bad update

Like many others that have written recent reviews, I have been a loyal VSCO user for years now and have the paid membership. I used to love this app, but the new update is super confusing. I liked uploading a bunch of my favorite photos into the studio and then batch editing. It used to be so easy, but now it’s very convoluted and hard to copy paste edits across photos and make sure they are all consistent before saving a copy to my camera roll. Please revert and listen to your user base. :( Update: maybe I am missing something but I HATE that it now asks me to “modify photo?” and then saves over the raw photo in my camera roll with the applied edits. I like keeping my raw photos separate from edited because as editing styles change I know I always have the original preserved for use at a later date. In addition, there appears to be a weird bug where an edited photo looks different in the studio then when you actually open it in edit mode. The last version of VSCO was perfect; please please please revert. I’ve had to switch to the Lightroom app because I hate this update so much. I assume VSCO is trying to save money because server space for everyone’s photos and edits was too costly. I would rather pay more for the old app than deal with this new update. Please fix, how many bad reviews will it take?

- Suggestion for paid members

I LOVE the app and I absolutely love the entire platform, however as a paid member I would like the ability to sign into my account online on my laptop and edit photos from there. I feel like paid members would be able to get even more from the platform as this would allow members to see colors and filters more clearly and allow members to make even better/smarter editing decisions. I went to do this one time because when I printed out the photo after I edited it, and it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would but yet it looked great on my phone app. I’ve used the app less because of this only because I don’t feel like I’m getting a true editing experience. It only makes sense to me, as you can access VSCO on a computer already and can log in and even browse around! You’d think I could at least edit the photos I’ve uploaded under my profile before I post them on the VSCO feed. I will more than likely cancel my subscription and find another app that will allow me to make edits on my laptop as well. Giving it 3 stars for now until VSCO gives paid members a little more freedom outside of the app itself.

- Disappointed

I’ve really enjoyed using VSCO through the past few years, but recently it’s really been frustrating. With its most recent update, if you don’t have premium you can’t post DSCOs like we used to be able to. And i haven’t been able to post journals since this past summer (2020). The journals just sit in my journals section and the cover photo is blank and they refuse to actually post. As of this past day, i’m not able to post or even edit any photo without the app completely freezing up and not responding to touch. i’ve opened and closed the app as well as deleted and redownloaded the app to try and fix these bugs but it has not helped at all. Please come up with a solution. Also with the recent update, whenever i want to save a photo to camera roll from my drafts, it takes me to the camera roll section instead of just letting me stay in drafts. then when i want to go back to drafts, i have to scroll every single time back down to where i left off with editing. this makes batch editing really frustrating as well. i have expressed to my friends how upsetting this new update is, and they’ve agreed with me. Please revert back some of these changes.

- Verification Troubles

It’s an amazing editing app that allows for everyone to make their own custom adjustments and even gives them a good selection of pre- made filters that allows the user to have a good glimpse of what the app can do. The whole feed and layout is similar like to Instagram but still has that unique feature and qualities that makes it different than the- said app. Although some troubles in trying to claim the account of others and for yourself, is quite hard as you cannot verify your account unless the email that you put in, is correct. The problem with this issue, is that many users change emails and even get new phones (completely) and loose access to their old email for them to actually verify the account. Without adding the feature for them to change their email or even add their new email/ phone number, they can’t verify their account and edit their account (such as account name, edit the bio, links, etc). If VSCO adds the feature of letting the users claim their account in different ways, then it’s better for them, altogether.

- Love love love...but wait!

I absolutely love VSCO and use it for all of my photography. The range of creativity, inspiration and options it provides is incredible. My only complaint is that when I’m scrolling through my feed, I always see tons of content that I like and that I want to republish. However, I always have to slow down while doing this and can’t mass-republish things without getting an error message! Maybe devs you’ve heard this complaint before and refuse to change it because you want users to pay more attention to others work and not just fly through it (at least that’s why I think you haven’t changed this), but I really wish you would! Content can still be enjoyed even if one goes through it quickly. And believe me, I know that many would enjoy the content that they see much more if they were able to republish and favorite things faster without error. Thanks!

- Layout/design is terrible

Please god put it back to how it was. This camera roll/drafts setup is SO frustrating. Destroys workflow. The gallery used to be a rough draft area, I could view and edit everything together in one place. If images were finished they got posted to vsco and/or saved to my camera roll. (I need to keep the original and the edit.) This new setup ruins my ability to do anything I need. I don’t want vsco modifying any image in my camera roll and I need to be able to do group uploads to a rough draft/working space, I need to be able to copy/paste/small tweak edits over a group of photos. All now nearly impossible. This is infuriating. The design changes have limited creativity and stifled any semblance of a workflow. Pleas tell me how you would suggest I work on 12 images at one time as a group. Your introduction of copy paste edits was lifechanging when it debuted (esp for an app). Also—NOBODY wants to make a “moNtaGe” of tiny images on a phone screen. EVERYBODY wants to have beautifully edited single images. This has always been vsco’s strength. Please facilitate this process instead of muddying the waters and forcing all this extra baggage that only weighs down what I’m here for and what vsco, I thought, was created to do.

- Hate the update!

I used to absolutely love this app. There wasn’t a quality I didn’t like about it. I never actually had an account, or the paid version, and still loved it! I use it to edit my photos for my blog. Recently, after updating the app I noticed a change to the way photos are stored. If I delete a photo in my camera roll, it deletes the edited version from the app. I absolutely hate this change. I use the app to edit my photos before posting, but love to be able to go back and review old photos from the past. After editing and posting on Instagram I always delete them from my camera roll because I don’t like to have a ton of food pictures on my phone. I always loved that I could go back in the VSCO app and pull up old photos to reuse on my blog if I wanted to. Now that the photos delete themselves when I remove them from my camera roll I am no longer able to store them in the VSCO app. This is super frustrating, and makes me wonder whether I want to continue using the app to edit my photos. I usually never review things, but I wanted to share my thoughts in hope that this is something that can be changed.

- Love it, but it could be better imo

I use this to edit all my photos and I love it, I'm also a VSCO X member and I definitely recommend it for everyone. But, I would like it if you guys made the highlight option to not only take away highlights but to enhance them as well, or present an option where I can select what portions of my image I want highlighted (I’d prefer this more), and the same for shadows. Also, I’d like to be able to add presets to DSCO, not just the ones you offer as soon as I take it, because the way it functions now I’d have to save the DSCO, then re upload it to VSCO, which I find tedious. I’d also like the option to turn other videos I have into DSCO. Oh, also for DSCO, I want to be able to save it to my VSCO library, instead of only being to save it to my phone or uploading it to my VSCO feed, and make it longer, DSCOs are so short. And it would be cool if you introduced options that are fun like chromatic aberration, or vintage scratches and dust. If you guys had all these things I wouldn’t touch another app lol. The app’s dope though, keep it up.

- Disappointing update

I’ve used and loved vsco religiously since the days of the old app and am a vsco x subscriber. I know this probably won’t be read or changed back, but I’m really, really disappointed with the new layout. I usually throw a bunch of photos into vsco, edit some of them, then save the ones that come out the best. I reeeeeally don’t like having to edit right from my camera roll then save as a draft if I don’t want to save it back to my camera roll. I do so much comparison and tweaking in the app before I save the ones I love, and this new workflow is not conducive to that at all. I also absolutely hate that copying and pasting filters overrides the photo in my camera roll — who in the world would want to do that?? Overall, this is just mega disappointing. I’m really tired of companies fixing things that aren’t broken and not listening to consumers, so hopefully you hear my two cents. Thanks for making an app I’ve loved for many, many years. I would hate to abandon it now, but the workflow is not sustainable for me in it’s current state. Edit: copy-pasting the same response on everyone’s review is not a good look...😒

- Frustrating Storage Due To Update

I absolutely love vsco & it’s filters & I’ve been using them for years. One of my favorite things was I could import photos into my vsco studio & delete them from my camera roll. Whenever I had the time, I could go back into my vsco studio & get around to editing. Sometimes I’d save it to my camera roll if I was ready to share/post somewhere, but most of the time I didn’t. Keeping it in my vsco studio until I needed it just kept everything organized and I could easily keep track of my photos and edits. However, this new update deletes photos from the studio if the original is deleted from the camera roll. This has only caused frustration and an immensely unorganized mess of photos in my camera roll. I don’t want everything there, I don’t always need everything exported from the app. And what if I accidentally delete the original? The edit I worked so hard on is gone. This update has only made me use vsco less, and other editing apps a whole lot more. The storage did not need to be fixed, it was functioning perfectly! Overall, this update was extremely upsetting.

- non app owner views

Because my viewers of my vsco web page without the application on their phone can only view a certain amount of my content, I have decided to no longer focus on my vsco, which was my highest prioritized platform of social media, and now only focus on my instagram and Facebook. I enjoyed having my vsco as a personal blog type app available for my viewers to look at my page even if they didn’t have the app. Now since vsco requires those to have the app to see all content I must shift my focus to a more easily accessible platform. I wanted to share my art and more personal side but don’t want to be limited because an application wants more users. I thought vsco supported everyone’s differences and sharing those with the world but now I see their focus on strictly obtaining users and making money off of them. This makes me less inclined to utilize vsco and far less inclined to ever purchase again through vsco. Your app brand was different and used to focus on the individual and now you’re just another one of the others, focusing primarily on money and less of the freedom of the user.

- I miss the old vsco

VSCO is a huge fan of fixing stuff that isn’t broken. It started with the user interface, then with the editing tools themselves. Vsco used to be a sleek, simple, alternative high quality photo editing app, and now that it’s more mainstream (and slowly turning into Instagram imo) it’s gotten bad. The functionality of the highlights tool is a great example of a well-intending update actually making something worse, and there’s a bug with the grain tool that’s actually been there for a long as I remember. They also removed the web uploader so now to get photography on my computer to the app (which can only be used on the iPhone btw) I have to use “google photos or iCloud.” Thanks but if I wanted my photography to be 240p I would’ve done that already. Also not a huge fan of how often the paid version of vsco is shoved down my throat. Vsco used to be my favorite photo editing app and posting platform but it’s just gone down the tube. Very sad. Don’t get me wrong, the community is still great and the filters remain unmatched, but the other issues are enough to reduce my usage.

- out with the new, bring back the old!

Listen VSCO, I’ve loved you forever—since 2013 to be exact. The only reason I’ve even added a second star is for the loyalty. This new layout feels like a slap in the face to longtime users. One thing I’ve always loved about your product is that it has been a constant in a world of changing (for the worse) social media’s. I feel like over the years you guys have done an excellent job updating and keeping the app fresh while apps like Instagram have continued to become more monetized and consumerism-focused. While VSCO has continued to be about the photos/documenting experiences. The new layout has shifted the perspective making it less user friendly and more about being corralled to use the member features. I’ve used VSCO for free for so long that truthfully, I don’t feel mad about now paying for the app to continue to use a longtime favorite, DSCO’s, but don’t make me suffer through a entire new app surface. It doesn’t feel natural or easy to use anymore. I used to love editing/posting on VSCO. Now it feels like a chore. 🥺 Please let us restore old versions. Please.

- Great app but i have these inconveniences

I’ll start off by saying that this is a great app. I love using it to edit and I especially love how no one can see each other’s numbers of followers, likes, republishes, etc. It’s a free and positive space for me to post whatever I want without having to stop and think about what other people’s opinions of it may be. There’s no negativity on the app. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of the update. I don’t like how when I delete a picture from my camera roll, it gets deleted from the studio as well. Maybe I don’t want the edited pic on my camera roll anymore but i do on the studio. Perhaps i’ve changed my mind and i want it back. Having it stored in my studio was great for me. Also, I liked being able to click on the home buttons on the bottom to go back to the top of the page I’m on. I can refresh quicker that way, but now I have to scroll back ALL the way to the top? I find that very inconvenient. Please go back to how it was before.

- Great...but membership activation is weird

amazing app. i enjoy editing and how it has no ads and no followers or likes or how no weirdos can contact you. but on the downside, i purchased a membership and it won’t show up. i have tried logging in to both accounts that i have, and neither of them has the membership. i am worried that i have just paid $20 for nothing. please help! EDIT: i had to renew the vsco membership to use it. slightly confusing and frustrating but the guide had pictures. the vsco x is amazing, but you should be able to post vids. also, a guide to what each tool does would be nice. (e.g. exposure does blank while simultaneously reducing the blank). in all, an AMAZING app. 10/10. better than afterlight as well. 2ND EDIT: please please let me turn my dms off! i don’t want people asking me what i use to edit my pics! also just for safety reasons, u should let us have a private account!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!

- good

the app is very very good. there are a few complaints or suggestions, however. most of the presets that will transform your pictures are part of the membership. VSCO close to never adds more FREE presets. i think that it is important to have more ways to express yourself and edit without having to pay. the few color presets are not as good and pristine as the ones that require a subscription. i am not suggesting that the entire app needs to be free, although that would be nice, VSCO still needs a way to make money. the videos and the montage effects should stay premium just because they are very cool features that should have the privilege of being premium. i am really just asking for more color pristine presets. other than that the app is very good. it runs smoothly and isn’t too hard to get the hang of. it requires creativity, but that is the point. overall, a very clean, good app.

- best app ever

i am no artist. but ever since i got vsco it has made me want to be more creative and think outside of the box. the things people can publish on vsco are always incredible and even if it is just words they are always the most relatable things. my favorite part about vsco is that you can’t comment. people that post on instagram always have the fear of getting a certain amount of likes and who’s going to comment something, but vsco isn’t like that. you can be yourself. no one knows how many followers you have. no one knows how many likes you get and rebublishes (kinda like a retweet if u don’t have the app yet... get it though!) but anyway, thank you vsco for being my favorite app and i just have one recommendation; the posts that people publish saying things like “get this to 6 million republishes for my best friend to stop smoking or for me to do something, etc.” is it possible that the people who own there own accounts can see an actual number of the ppl who republish and like? not because any cares on vsco but because of purposes like that one. i’d like if nobody can see it but myself, just so i don’t have to count. even if this never happens, i wouldn’t be upset at all. i love the way vsco makes every person feel equal. it’s just a hastle counting when it could just tell you the numbers and only you. if you read this, thank you so much!! rock on!!

- Love this app, literally more than any other app

I have been using this app since 2013 and it only gets better. There have been features over the past years that I’ve had to get used to but overall I love it. I use it everyday. I think the idea behind this app is absolutely perfect. This app has given me the courage to explore my own creativity and open up to sharing it. I don’t worry about how many people notice my photos and I love that comments and likes are not a feature on this app. Every feature from the wide variety of presets, DSCO (ability to make your own gifs), taking videos AND being able to edit them and participating in challenges BRINGS ME JOY AND HAPPINESS! I highly suggest joining the VSCO membership, it’s worth every penny! Thank you so much to the creators and VSCO team for creating and continuing to update and evolve the VSCO app. It’s made an impact on my life so THANK YOU!

- I hate the recent change.

I have been using this app for years now so I finally gave in and decided to purchase a membership. I have loved it....until now. I hate the recent update. Now if you delete a photo in the camera roll then it is automatically deleted in the vsco app, this is extremely frustrating. I was unaware of this recent change. Which is odd because I use this app frequently. It was only brought to my attention once I tried searching the internet to find a way to recover the photos I lost. This new feature is an unnecessary change and I hope it is only temporary. Until then take my experience as a word of caution or just use the free features. If this was a feature Vsco had during the time I considered purchasing a membership, I would have taken my money elsewhere. Now that the change has been brought to my attention I will be more careful of what photos I delete. If it wasn’t for the new feature I would have rated this app five starts but no use in doing that if a photo editing app deletes my photos automatically.

- Uninstalled

This used to be my favorite app to edit photos but now it’s glitchy and the constant updates don’t fix anything. They have changed a bunch of features and now the app is complicated and confusing to use. You can no longer upload photos, they edit them directly from your camera roll, so if you used to to use the “copy edits” function like I did, when you go to copy an edit to an unedited original photo it will prompt you (on apple at least) asking for permission to “modify photo,” which means it will overwrite the original photo completely. If you paid for an entire year of VSCO premium filters, it will say that the filters are locked and wants you to pay monthly for them. I cannot edit my profile or like and save other creators pictures to my collection because it constantly tells me to verify my email...but I already did when I signed up, when I press the pop up button that says “click her to verify” it disappears completely. If I’m ever going to use VSCO again they need to completely overhaul the user interface and make it easier to understand as well as fix their various glitches.

- Getting better but...

I’m really glad you guys listened to our complaints so I really hope you continue to do so. You made it so our photos cloned in app again which is really great!!! But I noticed when trying to paste an edit on multiple photos in the cameral roll section you ask to modify the original photo which is something we do not want or care for. You only bring up that option when we mass select but you just make a normal copy when we individually select photos, so it’s really confusing. It’s also incredibly time consuming because if I have many photos to put the same saved edit on then I have to do them all individually... when the point of the saved edits feature is to lesson the time you spend editing in the first place. Please change this!!! Honestly speaking a lot of things you could do to better this app again is to just go back to some of your old features. You didn’t have to fix what wasn’t broken.

- not lovin’ the update, man

this new update where it makes you either save or post edited photos, and delete the ones in your library when you delete them from your camera roll, makes everything way more complicated. what if you don’t want to post something to VSCO right away and then you have to go back to your camera roll, import to VSCO again and THEN post. i really like having all my edited photos on the app because it’s accessible for posting to VSCO, and likewise saving to camera roll when i need to. it would be a much better update if there was the option to save your edited photo to your VSCO library, alongside saving to camera roll or posting to VSCO, because not everyone posts all their photos, and not everyone keeps their photos in their camera roll. it would also be a lot better if there was an option before you delete a photo from your camera roll, to decide if you want to delete from your VSCO library as well. i love this app and use it literally all the time, but i’m really bummed by this update and it makes me want to use it a whole lot less.

- Amazing App But Buggy Notifications

Okay, so this is literally my favorite app. I love how it’s based around art and photography compared to like Instagram that’s just about whatever. Another thing that’s better about this than Instagram is with insta, you’re constantly comparing yourself to other people’s accounts. How many likes do they have? How many followers? With VSCO, you don’t have that bc it doesn’t tell you. A+ to you guys. My only complaint is the messaging part. And I realize it’s new so I’ve been trying to give y’all credit and I’m sure you guys will fix it but a lot of times I don’t get notifications even though they’re turned on. Every person I message on there says the exact same thing and that it’s a constant problem. So if you guys could work on that, I’ll gladly change my review to 5 stars. I recommend this app to everyone. It’s wonderful and the community is great. I highly suggest downloading. If you plan on using messaging though, just keep checking them until it’s fixed.

- Love it, but needs more for video editing!

I have been a user of VSCO since almost the beginning! I love the app so much so that I decided to buy the membership a year or two ago so I could edit videos and get even more effects! There’s so much to love about this app, but I do think that there is still room for improvement! I would love love LOVE to have more video editing features added to the app. A big reason why I don’t edit videos in it very often is because it lacks editing tools/effects for videos, in comparison to other apps. The “vintage” look is super popular right now and I would love to have a feature that allows me to make videos/pictures look like film, etc. I actually was debating getting the membership for the app Tezza because they have this feature. Obviously VSCO is an incredible app and one of my favorites, and I don’t want to switch, but I would truly love if they had more features, especially for videos!

- Please switch back to old design!

This new design is all over the place! It’s so confusing! I liked the old design so much better. I liked how you could select all the photos/videos you were going to be working with and move them to the project area and work on them from here. This new design has me searching so much more for all the content I need and then when I save it, it still is somewhere random on my phone and not the first vid/pic in the line up. And my favorite feature was the copy and paste, it was so easy on the old design, this one I had to hunt for the copy and paste button and then I had to scroll for so long to find the pic I wanted to paste it on instead of having all my pics and videos selected in the project room like it use to be! Plus the background is black instead of white, it’s very hard to edit pictures with black light. Why did you guys change it? Like it was so unnecessary, this update is super lame and makes me want to not use this app. At least have the option for this new design or the old design, because I would be sticking with the old!

- This App Used to be Good

I was paying for an annual subscription to VSCO and used it for all my photos— until recently. The app has been glitching like crazy in the last few months. I can’t crop photos the way I want, photos upload sideways and can’t be rotated, the app crashes while I’m in the middle of editing, etc. I thought VSCO would fix these problems with an updated version, but it continued to go on for months, which left me wondering what I was paying for. The app also doesn’t allow you to upload photos to edit into your VSCO gallery like it used to, but rather has all your photos from your camera roll automatically added, which is majorly inconvenient. It used to save photos directly into a VSCO folder in the Photos app, but now it only saves to camera roll, which makes it harder to find my edited pictures. Overall, I am very disappointed with the decline of this app which I’d been using for the last 7 years, and therefore will be looking for other photo editing apps to invest my money in.

- Cool things to add!

Love this app with the VSCOX membership and everything, but I would love if y’all could add a Post Notifications feature that way I could make sure to see the posts I want to see when I don’t have time to scroll through my regular feed!! Also if y’all could add a way to create DSCO videos from live photo’s or videos in your camera roll that would be AMAAAAAZINGGGG!!!! I’m always forgetting to take DSCO videos and it would be the best thing ever if I could just create them from my past live photos and/or videos. Also I love how you can edit videos, but I wish that I could save the video without it exiting out and forcing me to start over with a new video. Sometimes I like to save the same video with multiple filters or with a few adjustments and I wish I could do this without having to screenshot all my previous settings so I don’t have to start all over. Being able to edit the video without it continuously playing on a loop would help this, but adding a feature where you could edit the video while its playing on a loop or paused at places of your choosing would be great too. Other than that, I LOVE this app and I can’t wait to see what y’all create in the future. Thank you for such an amazing app!!! (with a very reasonably priced subscription plan too!!!!) Thank you!!!!! - Claire

- Love hate relationship

I’ve had VSCO for many years in order to edit the pictures I post on Instagram and my food pictures that I post on my Yelp account. There are a lot of pictures that were saved in my drafts that were no longer in my camera roll and that I didn’t post on VSCO. The day I got the notification that they updated the app and that if you delete the app you’re drafted pictures would also be deleted, my heart dropped. But I was like okay, no problem, I just won’t delete the app... until I had to. Just this morning I went to edit my food pictures like normal and it WOULD’NT LET ME. I tapped the plus sign to start an edit, nothing. I closed the app and opened it back up, nothing. The only solution was to delete and reload the app. I KNEW I would lose all my drafted pictures but I was praying I didn’t. But as soon as I signed back in they were all GONE. Years of pictures just deleted all because the app malfunctioned and I had to redownload it. Yeah I’m still going to use the app but that update was dumb and super inconvenient.

- Horrible new UI

Latest design refresh is not intuitive and has made things much harder versus easier for mass editing, with little tutorial of how to use the new UI. I haven’t used vsco in a while and I couldn’t figure out how to upload multiple pics let alone 1 pic from my camera roll to edit. After finally figuring it out (you have to allow access to all photos - I had to delete and reinstall), you’re no longer allowed to select photos from your camera roll to edit. It instead accesses ALL your photos which means you have to scroll through all your photos each time. This has proven to be super frustrating since I’m downloading older photos to make a photo book. The UI is also super buggy. I’ve been a loyal user for the last 6 years and I may have to delete this app for the first time and try other photo editing apps.

- VSCO *used to be* great

I have been using VSCO since 2016. Up until a few months ago, I had absolutely no complaints about this app. I’ve been a VSCO X member for 2 years now and have had no regrets. Unfortunately, the most recent updates have absolutely wreaked havoc on this app and ruined everything I love about it. Half the time I try to open the app, it glitches and won’t work. The way that the photos save into my library (as a burst of the original) is super frustrating and hard to use. I don’t know what the VSCO team was thinking with the past few updates, especially when we in the VSCO have so ardently shared our dislike of all of the changes (changes, might I say, that we’re not necessary and only hinder each user’s experience with the app). Needless to say I will not be renewing my VSCO membership and I am incredibly frustrated with this app as a whole. If the team can find a way to fix all these issues, I might consider renewing my membership but it’s unlikely. Overall, I would say use another editing platform like Lightroom.

- FAVORITE APP EVER!

Everything about VSCO is perfect. I use VSCO almost everyday and it’s so refreshing. I love the layout and how simplistic it is. I love how it isn’t very social unlike Instagram! Please don’t add in anything else social wise! The messages are a nice touch, but no comments please! That’s what makes it stand out in my opinion. There are a few glitches I’m sure you guys are working on, but I’d like to suggest a tiny feature that means a lot to me, and I’m sure other users as well— please add a “flip” photo feature in the editing tools selection. I like the way VSCO takes front facing camera pictures, but hate how my phones front camera flips the end result when I take a selfie with it. Please add a flip feature where I can flip a picture from left to right in the editing selection so it can be just like how it looks when I take one in the VSCO app directly.

- Best photo editing/sharing app!

Years ago, I found myself too concerned with likes and followers on Instagram. I deleted my account and soon after, I found VSCO. This app is exactly what we should be using. It’s all about posting photos you like and not having to worry about likes, comments, who unfollows you or anything of the sort. As advertised, this app is pro-content. Your followers on VSCO can interact by favoriting or sharing you posts, but only you can see who’s interacting, not the whole world. The free version is still more than adequate. I don’t have VSCO X, but I’m sure it is great. The filters and editing tools are extensive and contain just what you may need. You can also discover new ways to take and edit photos by looking at the discover page. I wish my discover page didn’t cycle the same photos repetitively, but that’s a minor issue.

- Update is a total fail

I’ve used VSCO (even back when it was VSCO CAM) and have experience many updates. All of them were improvements and created a streamlined ease of use. Even as a professional photographer, VSCO beat out Lightroom in my ability to import photos I want to edit, make edits, paste edits to multiple images, make adjustments to specific images, then export those images for use on social media (both for business and personal). The UI was streamline and efficient over any other app. The new update is inefficient in every way that it was previously efficient. Editing is clumsy. Edit an individual photo? You can save that one to camera roll as a copy with your edits or save it as a draft. Once that edit is made you can copy and paste to multiple images, OVERWRITING THE ORIGINAL. This is like image file management 101, the basics, the fundamentals. Never get rid of your original file. I know, you’ll say “you can undo the edits in VSCO”. Yes, in a very difficult and time consuming manner. Don’t be so proud that you can’t admit you made a mistake with this new set up, take a step back and adjust!

- Subscription Billing Without Subscription Service

This app crossed over into why-pay-monthly/yearly-for-it territory the last few years with VSCO X, it’s $20 annual subscription that unlocks all the features in the app. The feature set is robust, but it doesn’t/hasn’t changed in ages, other than a few new monthly filters (how many do you really need?). I get subscription billing is the new model, but most services have a feature roadmap or similar. VSCO does not. It’s worth $5-10 once if you got everything the app currently offers, but definitely not $20 yearly for VSCO X. I should add I did pay for it last year, but once I neared the end I didn’t really see a reason to renew. I guess if you like the community and photo challenges: launched in second half of 2018, this is their most recent feature. Many other apps offer the photo editing tools for way cheaper (some even as a one time purchase). I just really don’t know what perks you’re getting by paying a subscription.

- Questions for VSCO

I love this app so much! It definitely is a way to show off my creativity and I spend a lot of time on it! I do have a few questions though- the first one would be that is there any way we can add an account so we don’t have to log out each time? I have a account where I post of myself and one where I post of things that I enjoy. It would be so much easier for me! Also is there anyway we can connect them to the same email? I don’t have more than one email. My last question would be is there any way you can add the number of our followers, reposts for each post, and favorites somewhere on our profile? It doesn’t even have to show other accounts the amount of our followers or reposts or anything to anyone, it would just be quicker and easier to see the number then count. Thank you!

- i used to be such a big fan but newest update just isn’t it ://

i’ve NEVER written an app review but i am seriously so disappointed :,( i’ve been using vsco since it was “vsco cam” & the whole social aspect of the app was not around yet. with the app’s growth in social aspect & popularity i’ve continued using & even paid for a vsco membership for 2 years. unfortunately, the newest update makes the app so unusable that i’ve already cancelled my subscription & stopped trying to struggle through continued use. the inability to upload multiple photos into drafts is beyond inconvenient. many of my other favorite features like copying edits to paste onto other images have also become extremely tedious to navigate. this is not a matter of begrudgingly learning to use an updated app due to bias to what i’d already known; rather, too much of my go-to uses of vsco are simply no longer worth the hassle of completing according to the new formatting. as a longtime fan and user of vsco, it is not easy for me to turn my back on it, but i honestly would no longer recommend this app to anyone.

- Newest update is a pain.

I’ve been using VSCO for something close to 6-7 years. I used to love it for its batch editing functionality and streamlined user interface. Now the studio section is just confusing. I can no longer save a batch of edited photos to my camera roll. When I do save from drafts to camera roll, the correct edits aren’t applied and I end up with tons of useless photos. Some that are permanently edited. My business is now suffering because I’m unable to batch edit in a time efficient manner. Lots of back and forth searching for photos through my cluttered camera roll when I used to be able to just import what I wanted and none of what I didn’t. This direct from camera roll studio is just not working for me. I may have to just switch to another photo editing app after loving VSCO for so long. Hopefully something is done soon about this as it’s apparent I’m not the only one experiencing these headaches.

- the most amazing app i have downloaded

vsco is an outlet for creativity and inspiration. Every time you open the app you never feel pressured to be something you’re not or to make something of yourself. Every time you open the app it’s a different experience and it’s really amazing. The vsco app has really helped me discover who I want to be and also regain certain parts of myself, the creative parts of myself, that I thought i had left behind. sometimes the app glitches or closes on me but i couldn’t care any less about that when i think about all of the other things it has to offer. vsco isn’t even just an app, it’s an online community and presence. it’s the complete opposite of any mainstream photo sharing social media like instagram. the edits and challenges offered allow you to play around and have fun.

- 🤔

I’ve been using the app for years and it’s easily one of my favorites. The set up and layout is displayed nicely, and all the functions are easy to find and use. I’ve always liked all the different filters but never wanted to purchase them all individually, so when the subscription rolled out last year I was very excited! That being said, I would love if there could be more in depth tools(selective, curves, text, etc.), too often I find myself having to use another app for a few little things that I think would be great to have all in one place. I also wish you could chose to have a profile or not, simple because I don’t care much for the social aspect of the app, it doesn’t seem to run smoothly and no one really seems to interact in it so it seems ultimately pointless, great concept though! Can’t wait to see what else you guys over on the VSCO team roll out in the future.

- Disappointed

Been using vsco for about 5 years now and I am thinking about canceling my subscription. This new update is difficult to navigate, especially for anyone who is getting into photography/editing photos. I don’t like that I can’t actually upload the images and I’m “editing” right from my camera roll. So it modifies the edits over the original in your camera roll. Not only that, but to edit a photo one by one, even if you copy and paste Murillo is time consuming and annoying. Also my images that I save into my drafts aren’t saving to my camera roll either, so I have to click each photo I want edited from the “camera roll” section. I’m really disappointed because I use vsco mainly for my personal work when I’m on the go. I use Lightroom as well but I liked the style that vsco gave to the photos. Unfortunately, I’m just going to spend some time making my own presets for Lightroom mobile similar to the ones I liked from vsco because I will be canceling. Very disappointed.

- I love VSCO

I use VSCO for all of my mobile picture editing and I've been using it for years! I'd recommend VSCO to everyone who edits pictures. My only complaint is toward a product of a recent update. You guys released an update that deletes filtered pictures off the app once the original is deleted off the phone, I guess to save storage? This just isn't ideal for me. When editing a picture, VSCO is usually the final app I use in my process. When I'm finished, I like to delete all progress pictures for storage purposes and only keep the final product. When I do this, my edited image is removed from VSCO, along with the recipe I used for it. This is an issue for me because I often use the same recipe for different pictures and it's annoying to have both an unedited image and the final product in my phone. I hope my rant made sense and I hope you guys could accommodate me. Much love otherwise ❤️❤️❤️

- New Update

This new update is HORRIBLE. You have so many people paying for this app, including me, who can’t even use it anymore or edit their photos. The two tabs on the edit page are so user unfriendly and difficult to use. My recent photos don’t even show up in my camera roll on the app unless I screenshot them (???) and then loose the quality in the image. The ones that do show up are rearranged making it so difficult to find the photos you want. When you save a photo they only go into your camera roll and not your drafts like they used to. And you can only edit one photo at a whereas I used to be able to upload multiple photos at a time and have them all in my drafts to compare. It’s a complete mess and not one of these changes is positive and so many people feel the same way. As a paying customer who can’t even edit my photos on a photo editing app, I’m very disappointed. Bring back the one tab drafts page and allow us to upload multiple photos from our camera roll at once. Listen to your paying customers.

- VSCO went downhill

Ever since they updated the interface, VSCO just hasn’t been the same. I used to be able to import photos to the drafts area even if they weren’t edited yet! This was so convenient because I could import all the photos I wanted to eventually edit and post, and could come back to it when I had time to continue working on those photos. Now pictures only go into drafts once they have been edited.. And going back and forth between the “camera roll” tab and the “drafts” tab is even more frustrating because every time you go back to the “camera roll” tab, it doesn’t save your space, it just takes you back to the beginning of your camera roll! So I can’t import a group of pictures that I want to work on, and every time I want to retrieve a new picture from my camera roll I have to scroll through and find it every time. Infuriating !!!! Makes me not want to use VSCO to edit pictures anymore because of the immense amount of effort it requires now :( Very unfortunate and I hope they do something to fix this.

- VSCO X Video - 1080p Please? (Better Resolution)

VSCO Cam has been one of my all time editing apps ever and with the addition of editing videos through the VSCO X program, I adore this app even more. However, it would really be great and beneficial if VSCO allows us to export the edited videos at least up to 1080p. I know that 4K is not a must and that is totally fine, but I would’ve like to export videos after editing at FullHD resolution and not up to 720p for better, high quality videos. I think that a lot of consumers would’ve like to save not only the best looking photos, but also producing the best looking videos don’t you think? Overall, I admire VSCO as a whole but I think with a couple of improvements like saving videos in FullHD resolution, VSCO would have potential of being the perfect photo and video editing app.

- VSCO Latest Update is very bad

I have used VSCO for as long as I can remember and it has always been my go to edit app, however, the new update is horrible! The layout and navigation is confusing and not user friendly, and makes it a lot more complicated to edit and find my images. Additionally the new feature that forces you to modify the image is very frustrating, especially when copying edits. Being able to modify the image should be optional. I have attempted to keep up with this update, however I am sad to say that it is nothing less than extremely disappointing. I know for a fact that I am not the only one saying this, many of my photographer colleagues are having similar issues. Perhaps think about releasing a roadmap tutorial of how all the new features work, or streamline the software back to a more user friendly platform! I am all for change but this is just too much, and quite frankly has made things a lot worse than better.

- Image quality dropping on certain images

Hi I’m wondering if others have had the same problem but I’ve been using vsco since 2015 and I’ve yet to purchase the subscription service as I bought most of the preset packs prior, but recently a couple of my photos when exported drop down becoming really pixelated. Other photos from the same camera/taken on the same day are fine but it’s happened to four from the same batch of images I’ve wanted to save. I have even tried adding the same image in again and copying the edits made yet it still exports it lower than the normal image quality. Not sure what else to do :/

- Disappointed with VSCO membership

In another method to earn profit, VSCO have decided make their users sign up to a yearly subscription to gain access to all their editing tools. Users, including myself, who have already paid money to access all of these existing tools, will now have to fork out more money to use things they’ve already paid for. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I have been using this app for 5+ years to edit my photos and now I’m questioning whether I will continue to use VSCO Cam in the future. Why couldn’t you just create more filters and earn money from there? Or what about creating templates for Insta stories and charging money for it? I’m confused as to why you are now making existing users pay more money to use things they’ve already paid for.

- What happened to my membership?

I’ve been using VSCO for a long time now. I even bought the presets back when they were available to purchase for Lightroom. Great photo editing app. I use it to edit my photos on my phone for stories for my photography business. Easily one of my favourite. However, recently I’ve had issues with it. I’ve been booted out of my account which I’ve paid a year subscription for. I still have till 2nd of September this year, 2021 before the membership expires, yet I cannot log on my account. Tried multiple time to connect back into my VSCO account, all the custom presets I’ve saved and photos in my library are gone and it’s asking me to subscribe for a membership. I already have one, I’ve checked my apple account subscription. What is going on here?

- Greedy

I used to love this app. I bought every preset that was out, and after a bungle in their end I had a free subscription for a year to the extra stuff. When that expired, I received no notice I just figured it out for myself. Fair enough. I still had the filters I’d always used. But I’ve just gone in to edit a photo today, and all of a sudden whole filter groups that I’d been using even since my subscription expired are now required to be purchased. I’ve pumped way too much money into what’s essentially a fancy step before Instagram, and I’m not happy that I dropped money last week to have a complete collection - again - but now today even more of what I’d already been using is gone. Not worth the money unless you’re getting the desktop version. Absolute rip off and zero loyalty to pre-existing users 🙅🏼‍♀️

- Step backwards

Love VSCO and have been using it for years. Usually I’m pretty patient with updates but the new layout has completely broken the workflow that I’m sure many people have perfected by now. Why do we need to modify the original photos just to do a batch edit? And now saving photos is under the share button but the camera roll option is tucked so far away as we have to scroll through all the social media options first? Why make the camera roll the first tab? It used to be so much nicer to see all your edits in one place - no one curates their camera roll?! It’s so ugly to see my camera roll first up :/ What used to be a simple app to use has turned into something overcomplicated... please at least have a video on how you think the new workflow should be and guide us through the UX/UI mess because I am struggling to find something that works.

- Some extra user controls would help

1. The most important one is to allow manual sorting/re-arrangement of imported pics. When I batch import my pics, they no longer appear in chronological order. It's very slow to import one photo at a time, in the order that I want them to appear in the studio. It would be much easier if I could click and hold a picture and slide it to the position I want it to appear in. 2. Include a brightness adjustment as well as exposure. Exposure increases shadows and highlights, similar to Levels in Photoshop, but it doesn't brighten the entire image the same way that Instagram's "Brightness" adjusts the photo. 3. Allow to desaturated a photo completely. Currently, the desaturate function still retains some colour in the photo even at the lowest extremity

- A touch overcomplicated?

VSCOcam has been a mainstay of my editing process for years and I have witnessed and (almost always) appreciated its many new iterations. However, the latest updates seem to come with features that are unnecessary and frankly irritating. For example, the pop up that demands you create a VSCO account every time the app launches - it would be nice if you didn’t have to tell it no a thousand times. The sneaky little VSCO watermark that is selected by default when you export photos? Also superfluous. What makes VSCOcam the editing app of choice for so many is the wealth of excellent filters and control over the outcome of the images. Please don’t overwhelm it with a bunch of bells and whistles that don’t actually contribute to that.

- I don't often leave reviews but this is a TERRIBLE update

This most recent change to the interface is just not practical... If photos are going to be sorted chronologically, at least give the option to sort it by how it appears in your roll. When you're using multiple apps to edit a photo, it's hard to tell which is the most recent edit and it takes way too long to scroll all the way back to find the photo if it was taken a while ago. When selecting and editing the photo, it overrides the original photo and does not save it for easy access to reedit later if needed (unless saved as a draft first which is an extra step). This extra time is not worth it and I might just use another app now. Please fix this ASAP.

- deletes pics from vsco once original is deleted from camera roll

i find that the new update that deletes my edited photos off of my vsco after i’ve deleted the original, unedited version from my camera roll is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. my camera roll is now as full as it’s ever been but when i first got notified of this they said it was to ‘help not use as much storage up’ ???? how does it help ?? it’s literally forcing me to keep my unedited photos !!! i don’t want my vsco gallery to be empty by keeping all my edited pics in my camera roll. that would almost defeat one of the core purposes of vsco for me !!! so, PLEASE FIX THIS. very very frustrating. i love this app and have been using it religiously since 2015 .... although i’m extremely disappointed by this update :(

- Stop all the unnecessary weekly updates!!!!!

Stop releasing unnecessary and fake updates every week. I have to update this moronic app every week because the VSCO company releases fake versions with zero improvements every week just so they can stay relevant and fresh in the App Store. The App Store rewards apps that have regular updates, and sneaky developers take advantage of this by releasing new versions with zero updates and claim that they’re updating the app. It’s all BS, nonsense, unnecessary and pointless and horrible for the end user. Get your app right, then stop all updates until you have some new feature to introduce, but don’t be sneaky and misleading! Stop claiming that you are doing bug fixes and improvements because everyone knows that you are not! VSCO is a stable app and has been for a long time there are no issues so stop all the nonsense.

- Loveee

I really like this app for editing. Obviously most apps like this have a cost and that’s completely fair. But the free content available is still absolutely amazing. I really like how you can see the layout of your edited photos and what it looks like before you upload them to Instagram for instance. BUTTT it would be absolutely amazing if I could move a photo to a different spot in the studio after I’ve edited to see what works better in different spots. At the moment if I wanted to move something I would have to completely delete it and re upload and it’s just a hassle. Please add that feature to the next update!!

- So far, a million times better than instagram

So far it’s really good, super creative! Love how it’s not about vanity and the sexiest half naked woman on instagram. There is a lot more to appreciate than the basic pornographic selfie on instagram, there is a lot of artistic talent to appreciate and admire in every picture I’ve seen so far! I hope it steers clear of the same path instagram went down! I do feel like it needs more free filters though, just to add more variety for those who can’t pay for a membership.

- Please give me back my paid preset filter packs!

I have been using VSCO since its early days. I love the basic editor - the VSCO team have made so many great improvements to it over the years. I loved it so much I bought almost all the VSCO preset filter packs. Today I noticed that most of my presets are locked again, requiring a subscription to unlock. I know you need to make money going forward, but I paid for these preset filter packs under the pretence that I would have access to them for as long as I used the app. I’m frustrated and disappointed, particularly because there wasn’t any warning - just log in one day and your access is gone. Please give me back the preset filter packs!

- Worst update ever

I’ve used VSCO for the past 3 years to edit photos before adding them to Instagram and this new version doesn’t even makes sense to me. I can’t save photos in Draft as before so that I can edit them in a batch, so I tried another way which was adding the “favourite” flag to them so that I can access them without being lost amongst all the unwanted photos, and every time I had the filter for Favourite, then edit the photo, the filter reset to display all the photos, and even worse than that, every time the list starts from the first photo rather than the photo I was currently editing, and I have to scroll down amongst the myriad of photos to find the one I want to edit. Just awful!

- Deleting photos

Very very very difficult that you have the new feature of deleting photos that are deleted from device. I can not stress enough how annoying this is as I clear space up on my phone however I store photos there for me to post on my Instagram account. Please make an option to remove this feature as I have lost so many photos thinking they would be saved in the application and I’m really disappointed. Would love to know if there is a way to turn this feature off!! Love the app though - really great for storing photos and editing. Thank you

- VSCO has lost it

VSCO used to be a wonderful company, but has become greedy and lost it’s way, ignoring it’s long term customers that have paid good money for it’s products in the past. The latest update is diabolical as it removes two very important features for me: 1. the ability to save a file within the app. Now, if you edit a file, and want to save it, you have to export it immediately to the camera roll. 2. When exporting files there is no longer any option for output size, just full size presumably. This latest update is infuriating, why change something that is perfect and useful?! I am seriously looking at other alternative apps, so I can ditch VSCO. Sadly all good things come to an end.

- Unable to use

I loved using VSCO on my old phone where I had purchased the full amount of filters and editing options. When I upgraded to my new iPhone, all my app subscriptions rolled over except VSCO. It now tells me to pay for a subscription every time I go to use certain locked filters etc. then when it takes me to the subscription says I am already subscribed. So basically I have paid for something I cannot use as there is this huge glitch. I have tried deleting the app then downloading again. The brand new subscription rolled over in October and I thought this might kick it into action but it did not. I’ve tried contacting VSCO to no avail.

- Thanks for stealing my money

Tried the “free” app and forgot to cancel the YEARLY subscription auto payment in time. Yes, ultimately my fault for not unsubscribing before the cut off but would have been nice to have had an email reminding me/asking me “hey, are you liking the app? If not, don’t forget to cancel otherwise you’ll be charged $30 for a useless app you’ll never use.” Another alternative might that the default is to CANCEL unless you actively want to sign up for a whole year. I get that you need to make money from your app, totally fine with this but you need to do so ethically. I suspect this underhanded-hope they forget to cancel-tactic is part of your business model so I won’t bother asking for a refund.

- You have ruined VSCO

This is my second recent review and I’m so disappointed, clearly VSCO has recieved overwhelming negative feedback about recent updates but has done nothing but paste a generic message below reviews. Please for the love of photography bring back the bulk editing feature. The new interface is a misery use, the camera roll and drafts tabs just complicate and slow down your work flow. Why do I need to edit a photo before I can add it to the drafts tab? The editing features are still good but it’s honestly so frustrating to edit a series that I’m looking for an alternative and will cancel my membership if it’s not fixed soon.

- Great to see the ‘create draft’ function! Well done

Thanks for taking hundreds of people’s advice by bringing back the mass import function. The only thing now is that when I export , I’d like all the edited photos to be saved in a dedicated album( now they just appear in ‘all photos’ without being saved to a VSCO album). This will make it much easier for us to locate the edited pics. Other than this, extremely happy with the update :)

- Disappointed.

Loved VSCO and spent a few £££ on filters that no longer are available to me because of the new yearly subscription. First off, the main reason a lot of people were drawn to this app was because of its versatility, you could still edit amazing looking photos with no yearly cost and the choice to purchase filters depending on your aesthetics. I won’t be the first to think that VSCO have put their existing customers off from buying a yearly subscription and if anything, should have made it optional to buy individual filters AND/or a yearly subscription. I don’t want to pay £28 a year to use the same two-three filters. Change it.

- Useless without save to camera roll!

I’ve been using VSCO as a paid subscriber for almost 5 years. I’ve finally had enough after reading how many other people are affected by this “bug” where created content cannot be saved to the phones camera roll. Even the developers stated “workaround (save as draft first) does not work. This has been happening for months and I thought it was due to my phones storage, now I read that hundreds of other customers are stuck in the same boat and it hasn’t been fixed yet. My subscription is now rendered useless 💸💸💸 cheers VSCO!

- Don’t read the others. Pay for what you enjoy. Vote with your wallet.

As someone who rarely writes App reviews, I thought it would be good to clear the air about the negativity from the recent reviews. I use VSCO sporadically. I’m not a Instagramer, or a pro-photography. I enjoy playing with photo editing apps and appreciate the design simplicity of VSCO. I’m on my second year of paying for VSCO X. My reason being is it equates to about $2.5 a month. I’m actual terms that’s what I’d consider the upper limit cost for a ‘virtual hobby’ I enjoy. It’s easy to use. It’s always updated regularly. It has a vibrant community with very, very, positive like minded people. When I give up on this hobby, I’ll stop paying for VSCO X, simple as that. Until then, keep up the good work. The above review is my own personal opinion.

- How do i cancel my membership?

I don’t know why my apple account was paid for the vsco cam yearly membership. I had problems with installing apps and i deleted this app days ago and it was already paid after I deleted the app I don’t know how i can ask for refunding and getting my money back I’m already satisfied with this app so I don’t need a membership at the moment please fix this problem

- Meh.

I’ve used vsco for a while to edit my photos, and it’s been pretty good as i’ve been able to make most of the filters i’ve wanted,, but recently it’s been glitching a lot and i’ve been unable to edit my photos. i’ll add them in and it won’t let me click edit even if i restart the app multiple times. It also crashes a lot,, and randomly deletes my filter recipes which is VERY annoying. I’d recommend Polarr over Vsco as you can add as many of your own filters without charge, and there’s more features on polarr + it rarely glitches/crashes.

- VSCO review

oh hi there, uh, my hyrdoflask, you have one? no? take mine, ive got more. i was just thinking about turtles, i love the turtles, got to save the turtles, okay? say no to straws. thats why i use my metal straw you have one? no? uh, come on, here, use mine, alright? you may have noticed my scrunchies, i have two, one to share, take it take it take it. yes, and, friendship bracelet time! okay? come on over, we will make some and it will be fun sksksk and i oop

- Fantastic app but simply overpriced

As far as photo editing prowess goes, VSCO is up there with the best. But the price has become absurd and I don't know how anyone would justify it when there are other apps which have the same capabilities for less money. Untill VSCO rethinks their pricing model I'm jumping over to Darkroom, as buying all of their features permanently is HALF the price of a VSCO annual subscription. Sorry guys, I genuinely think you've overestimated your market worth.

- Has improved over the years

The UX of VSCO used to be head scratching but over the past year or so it’s improved significantly. It’s become quite a great app! One request to the developers: please allow us to choose the canvas dimensions when adding a border. Let me create a 4:5 imagine with a 4:5 border. I don’t want shrink my portrait photos to fit in a square canvas.

- Very frustrated trying to log in

I have paid for a subscription and I am trying to log in on my iPad. When I enter my password it says my profile is invalid. So I tried to sign up and it says that my profile is already connected to my account, which I can’t access because it says that I have an invalid profile! Would like to contact the developer but the website address is also invalid. Not very happy I have wasted a lot of time and money and there doesn’t appear to be any way to connect any support to sort the issue apart from voicing my concerns on this platform.

- Crashes all the time

Long time user of VSCO since it first came out. This is the first time I’ve had such a terrible user experience. - Very slow and buggy - Freezes almost every time I try to import or export - Finding the new UI with extra steps a bit frustrating. For example when I finish editing a photo I used to be able to export straight away (save to camera roll), but now I have to click on ‘next’ THEN export. Sounds simple but when the app is slow, that extra step is painful.

- Add a “seen” or “read” in messages

This is a wonderful app but the only thing is that I would really like to know if the person I’m messaging has seen or read my message so please do something about this and add this feature aswell another thing is , there’s no way to delete a single message or a message to be able to be deleted on both devices which my only option is to report and I’m still waiting for my report to go through as soon as possible so fix this ASAP aswell please.

- Photos do not appear at all, very slow!

I’ve always paid an annual fee with VSCO, no problem for having subscription with a good app. However, lately none of my imported photos display. All white out. I even deleted the whole gallery of imported photos twice, to free all space and start over, now my gallery has under 20 photos yet it’s still all white, NOT LOADING / NOT DISPLAYING any photos at all, I cannot edit my photos. Please fix this bugs soon.

- Import problem

I love how I can edit my photos and use all of the tools. The only thing bringing this score down is that when I go to import a photo, it for some reason will only let me scroll down a tiny bit, before it glitches and goes to the top again. It’s super frustrating as i have to go into my camera roll and screenshot the photo I want, so that it goes to the top of the page when I want to import.

- Mandatory Sign Up To Use? No, Thanks.

I actually loved this app. I’ve been using it for years and it’s my go-to for Instagram posts. The filters are varied and it’s really easy to use. Unfortunately, recent updates have locked me out of my library and from using the app in the future because I don’t have an account with them. They must have reasons for it, of course, but obviously I’m disappointed because I don’t want to sign up. If I did I would have done so beforehand. So, thanks for alienating a part of your user base.

- It's great but..

I love VSCO and I use to edit all my photos, the only thing is that I only have access to 10 filters. I would be willing to pay if it was one payment; for example some apps cost $1.99 etc and once you pay, you have it forever. On VSCO however, it's a continuous payment - I really think this is unnecessary because it's always the same filters. Just make it cost like $5 or something for a permanent membership and I'm sure more people will pay for that.

- The import images/video screen keeps flashing/refreshing.

Every time I try to import my videos and photos, the screen keeps flashing/ refreshing for no reason. This defect kind of defeats the purpose of the app and it is very annoying. It should be a small patch to fix it but it has been going on for over 6 months. I have paid for a year subscription but I won’t be resubscribing. It’s a shame because I have been using this app for over 4 years and it’s sad to see it go down the drain and become greedier by the minute.

- NOT HAPPY

So i got the 7 day free trial to see how everything worked but then i didn’t really use vsco that much after that. I go back to check my bank account to see how much money i have saved up. $15 i see in there. i had around $40 yesterday and then I realised that vsco took my money after the 7 days free trial. vsco took $30 without notifying me or anything. It also won’t let me unsubscribe from the membership.

- Don’t know what happened, long time user

I’ve used this app for a very long time to edit some photos. however with the recent updates, the app is super slow and takes a long time to import and even show the photos in my gallery. not only that but every time i start to edit, the app will always crash. this is super annoying. this only used to happened when i used the straightening tool, but now it’s happening so often. i love vsco but with this happening it’s really changing my opinion about the app.

- Please go back to the old layout

I think y’all messed up... It is extremely annoying that I can no longer edit photos in the app and save to camera roll. Many times I want to apply multiple different filter to a photo and save both copies, (one in normal and on black and white etc.). Due to now the app modifying the photo in the camera roll I can no longer do this; even when I duplicate the photo in my camera roll. The old layout was much better and a lot less time wasting in my opinion

- Disappointed

I’ve been using VSCO for years and always loved the app, having purchased a few filter packs. I subscribed to the 7-day free trial last year but forgot to cancel, and was extremely disappointed to find that I can no longer purchase the filters and the only way to use them is to subscribe to another yearly membership! So essentially, you can only rent the filters but not own them. I think this is extremely poor. I will be switching to a different app which is better value for money.

- From art to greed

This used to be a great app. I paid for a ton of filters and bundles over the years and I loved it. I thought it was well worth it. But as time goes by, they release useless and annoying updates that just make everything more and more complicated trying to trick you into buying more stuff and now subscribing to it. It’s a photo app. A subscription? Really?!? What’s even worse is that filters I used and loved and paid for have “disappeared” and now I have to pay more to get what I already had.

- Not Happy

I have been a huge fan of VSCO as I LOVE editing and playing with photos. I spend over $20 on filter packs only to see them be deleted in updates. I did not see any warning or notice that this was going to happen and I can’t seem to find a way to get them back - or my money for that matter. I used to have over 50 different filters - I now only have access to 19. That’s no good. I am very upset. Please look at possibly replacing what many users have paid because I want to still love this app. Please.

- New update is so BAD!

It’s getting more complicated to do batch editing now. The experience is getting worse. It takes a lot of time to edit multiple photos, so confusing. I can’t believe the developer didn’t think about that. The old version was much SIMPLER, BETTER and EASIER to use. I’ve read the manual guide on how to use the new studio, which i believe most people who commenting here already did as well. But that also proves that the new update is not intuitive and hard to use.

- I cannot save photo to album anymore after editing.

Tried to delete and reinstall, it doesn’t solve the problem. Also I cannot see the favourite folder etc. anymore when Choose photo to import. Have been sub to annual memberships for 2 years now.. please fix the issue.. this is my daily app.

- Photos disappearing from camera roll

For many photos exported from VSCO, it seems that the data within the photo causes a mismatching within iCloud Photo Library where IPL considers it as a duplicate and removes the photo. The photo doesn’t go to recently deleted, it simply disappears. Please see if you can reproduce the issue on your end. Thanks.

- Trash, trash, trash

I’ve been using VSCO for years and have paid for a couple of the presets. The new update is trash. Just another example of a successful app that gets ruined by idiotic developers who don’t know what their users actually want. Why would anyone want to modify the original photo in their camera roll to save it?! That’s not how any photo editing app works. What kind of genius decided that would be a good idea?! Someone needs to be fired.

- Ruined the experience over 5 years

I downloaded this app 5 years ago. Originally I purchased filters one by one for a very low price. Then, they moved to a subscription model. $30 a year for filters. You’re joking right? So I only used the free filters. Today I discovered with the new update, they’ve added a watermark. You’re done. You’ve lost a 5 year customer because of this stupid decision. No one wants a watermark on an app. Even a customer that’s paid for the service in the past, I’m done.

- Used to be amazing then they updated it

This app was my go to for all my editing, but with recent updates that have changed the entire way the app works it’s near impossible to edit a photo without having to go through numerous menus for absolutely no reason. Quit pretending to be a knock-off Instagram app and go back to being a decent photo editing tool. The worst part is I paid for a year subscription and now I’m stuck with a useless app. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

- Please read

My vsco isn’t letting me see anything in my gallery or edit photos. I’m not sure why but please fix this it’s getting really annoying. When it works the app is great.

- Never loads

My vsco app NEVER loads. Every other app that i have loads perfectly fine but vsco is a problem. maybe it’s not just my wifi, maybe it’s a problem with the app

- New update

I LOVE this app I use it everyday, but the new update that doesn’t save your pictures in your “studio” if you delete them off your camera roll REALLY bothers me. I never have many pictures on my camera roll but I know thy if I wanna go back and look at stuff they will be on my vsco. But not anymore! Change it back!

- Ughh

Why the heck do U have to pay

- TOO EASY TO REPOST

Swiping up reposts a picture. I accidently reposted 5 pictures. At least make it a tap, you swipe up 99% of the time to look at photos terrible idea

- New update

I loved vsco, but after the update where if you delete a photo from your camera roll that was also uploaded to the app, it deletes in both, I lost interest. I find this extremely irritating and I miss the old format of the app.

- New update ruined a good thing

This app was my absolute favourite for editing and so easy to use. Losing the mass edit function ruined the entire app for me. Not being able to copy and paste my edits without over writing the original pictures in my ACTUAL camera roll is an absolute joke. I NEVER gave vsco the permissions to make changes to my pictures in my camera roll. I’m so absolutely disappointed. Oh and it got rid of all my old edits from before the update.. cool.

- What did you do to the app icon😭😭

The new blue icon is so ugly I cannot even express how much I hate it.

- Favourites

The favourites page is gone bring it back the update took it away.

- How could you do this?

Let me start this off with a congratulations to VSCO and the lovely team behind it. I cannot get enough of the app and it’s an amazing tool that I use literally everyday. I have fallen in love with the powerful and elegant tools to have the capability to make every photo perfect. (It makes me feel so in control as an artist!) Aside from the questionable update every so often, I believe they have all been for the better. But I think this is... mind-boggling. How could you remove the functionality of the library? I don’t care about the storage on my phone and honestly, neither should you VSCO. I assume this is the ‘soft’ nerf to the usability of the app until you introduce new paid features. But my god, I hope these changes aren’t permanent. I started using the app about 3 years ago and didn’t have an actual account until about a year in. That speaks to how fantastic the editing tools and user experience were designed. Why take away (I’d argue) the best and ultimately most fundamental part of your app? The gallery is so essential. Not just to photographers, or just to the casual photo taking community but to anyone who spends their time using the app (with an account or not.) I want a place where I can put my photos side by side and compare them. I want a place where I can catalog all of my shots in a spot that isn’t my cluttered and disorganized camera roll. (A collection of the best shots all neatly organized into one page.) I want one app where I can edit, view, and share my photos all from one place. All of that is what the gallery is and should be. VSCO is meant to inspire the art of photography and I believe this groundbreaking change goes directly against that. By not letting me reflect on my shots, cherish the moments I have captured, and reuse/remix techniques and combinations I have crafted for future use, I believe VSCO is moving backwards. I PRAY that this update isn’t permanent and is only an experiment. (Plus, I really don’t want to have to proof my photos in my camera roll.) - P.S. as a subscriber to VSCO X, why are the features of the app being removed? I thought paying customers would be getting access to new tools, not having old ones taken from us.

- So sad

I miss the old update. :(

- Update sucks

Hate the new update. Can’t import photos without editing them one by one.

- CHANGE THIS

i cannot STAND the new update. I hate how you can’t select more than 1 picture to add into your drafts, i hate how it deletes from your drafts if you delete it in your camera roll, i hate the look of it. CHANGE IT BACK. i do not pay for the membership for a horrible app like this.

- Developers - what are you thinking?!

I’ve been using VSCO since day one and this is the first review I’ve ever written on the app store. The previously version of the app was almost perfect, but this latest version seems to of made the app infinitely worse. I’m not going to list all of the problems because they are obvious. Just bring the workflow back from the previous version otherwise I and many other long-term users will be forced to switch to another platform.

- Hate the new update

I NEVER leave reviews but I’m so mad. I use vsco for all of my editing and I swear by it. Normally I’d say 5 stars no doubt, I used to upload a whole bunch of photos from a photoshoot at once then edit one and paste the edits onto the others and choose my favourite from there and delete the rest. But with the new update you can only move a photo to drafts ONE AT A TIME. It takes forever and there’s no apps like it I’m so used to vsco so now I’m just stuck. I really hope they fix it:(

- Confusing Update

Long time VSCO user. First time reviewer. Since the update I don’t think I can use it anymore. It’s confusing how you edit directly from your camera roll??? And then there are like Drafts too??? I export out and it overlaid my edits twice?? No idea what’s going on. But I think they just over complicated my workflow. Will find something better for now.

- New update sucks

Please bring back the ability to edit multiples in one go without modifying the original. Exporting to a copy / jpg is also something to bring back please!

- k

we should not have to pay💖

- Question about new update

Where can I find my favourites with this new update? My favourite part of the app was looking at my favourites but I can’t seem to find them ever since the app updated.

- Can’t see what I’ve Favorited

After I updated the app, I can’t go into my favourites anymore. Like the option to click on “favourites” isn’t there. Why???

- Photos

I do really like vsco, but to be honest, this is the first time I’m making a review and I NEVER really had a problem with anything before... but I don’t like the fact that when I delete my photos off camera roll after putting them into vsco, they’ll ALSO delete on vsco too..... can you please change it back to where they’ll stay regardless if they’re deleted on camera roll?😞

- i hate u vsco

i hate u vsco

- ??

why have dms been removed?

- Archive!!

Please make it so we can archive pictures instead of deleting them

- Updated version suckkkks

They’ve made it so hard to use and edit on their app.

- Gone downhill

I’ve been using VSCO for years. Was my favourite editing app. But the last layout changes they made to the app are so frustrating and make the app hard to use. The ability to import select pictures first from my phone library to edit is so important. I’m looking for a replacement app because this one is no longer user friendly.

- the new update is wack.

please don’t try too hard. the app was already great as it was. this new update is so buggy, slow, and a lil confusing to use. been using vsco for forever. number one reason is cause it’s so straightforward to use. please don’t try too hard.

- Hoes

its a free pornsite at this point

- UX is not their priority

This new update completely ruined the app’s UX. It’s so hard to use and so much more complicated than previous versions. I get what they’re trying to do...but the implementation is just bad. Unsubscribing.

- not happy

the new update ruined the app for me:(

- New update isn’t good

I loved this app. Used it for all my photo editing and even bought into it so I could edit videos, but the newest update isn’t good (for me at least) I’m sad to say. You can’t select multiple photos at once to add to the drafts to then edit. Additionally, it doesn’t remember where you were in your photos that you were adding to edit. I still use it cause I pay for it but I probably won’t be paying for it again. Really sad and will most likely need to find a new editing tool.

- new update is a deal breaker

i’ve been using this app for years now, way before it even blew up. now ever since the new update it’s really not worth my membership anymore. modifying the original image or video is the dumbest thing ever. i’m not sure who thought this would be a smart idea but they were wrong. at first i put off writing a review thinking it was just me who was unhappy but after seeing countless comments having the same idea i decided to write. honestly i don’t know who would want to touch up their original photo? it’s illogical. the studio was such a beautiful feature! unfortunately i am really on the fence on about continuing my yearly membership or not coming up in february. really sad since i’ve been using this app for so long but it just isn’t practical anymore. a real shame.

- Disappointing

It is so ridiculous how you had a perfect user-friendly app and ruined it all with one update. Editing and adding photos to the drafts is so clunky, it makes the whole thing close to unusable. While having the OPTION of saving the edits over the originals might be useful for some, the update ruined the whole experience for me. I really hope developers will listen to the users’ feedback and revert back to common sense that this app was.

- dsco?

the dsco’s are super long now and you have to pay to have premium to post them?? what the heck. bring it back for free. bring back the old version please. no ones happy.

- dsco’s are not free anymore

i used to be able to post dscos on vsco but now i am expected to pay for membership in order to do so. very disappointing.

- new features/update are horrible

i normally love vsco, i have had it for about 5 years. But the new update doesn’t allow you to filter photos based on posted/unposted, as well as doesn’t let me upload to my editing gallery, it only lets you edit your camera roll. I take about 10 pictures of each thing so it’s very frustrating! VSCO please fix this :(

- revert

please the new photo editing is so bad it’s so much harder to organize there was need to update it. turn it back please :(

- Annoying changes

I used to love this app and then they made some weird changes and they made it user unfriendly... no idea why... i’m barely using it anymore

- new version sucks

Bring the old one back! The new user experience is horrible.

- such a bad update :(

i never review things but maybe this will increase the chances of it returning to how it was before:)) im not sure if i’m just dumb but importing photos is so confusing and time consuming now. you can’t paste edits unless it’s straight to your camera roll and then it forces you to modify the original photo if you want to paste edits. or you have to paste edits to already edited photos. there was nothing wrong with how it was before it was sooo easy to use now it’s so time consuming unless i just haven’t figured it out yet

- new update. 👎🏻

this new update is horrible, everything was so simple to use before and they just made it more complicated. I don’t like that it also edits the original pictures in my camera roll and that when it does that I cant even take the filtering off if I don’t like it. I wish they would bring it back to the old layout everything was much simpler and easy to navigate.

- No More Free DSCO

I have bad VSCO for about 3 years and i was able to post pictures and DSCO knowing that more came with the membership. I updated the app and now i can’t post DSCO”s anymore because it’s now included in the memebership. Way to ruin a fun and creative app that i can only post pictures on now. I can’t afford the membership, need to save every penny i have.

- Terrible Gallery Management

This is my first time writing a review for VSCO. First of all I love this app, I do every photo editing on it. However since the update, I find it extremely irritating in photo management. Please bring back the old fashion import and export method. Somehow it allows me to edit photos without importing, nice touch but, somehow it prompts up to ask me to import to studio. Now that’s very inconsistent and bad.

- Update

The update kinda sucked.

- 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

WORST UPDATE EVER. It takes forever to edit

- Was amazing.... not anymore

Loved vsco before the new update. Can’t pick multiple photos to put into my drafts and have to edit straight from camera roll, it’s awful.

- Not crazy about the new update

The introduction of the camera roll and a separate drafts décrions makes the user interface confusing and more difficult to navigate. Loved the old set up!

- update

hate the new update

- the update

i hate the update

- New update is TRASH

The recent update is an absolute interface nightmare. Cancelled my subscription immediately. Very disappointed. Such an ugly and hard-to-use platform now, have to accept “Modify” button on every single photo just to export, can’t import multiple photos into Drafts folder easily and simply. Idiotic changes. So bothered after years of consistent use
