Problems with this app. I enjoy reading the news on this app but I have problems with it crashing, locking up and disappearing entirely when I’m reading a story. Very frustrating .

Best RVA Local News App. I just downloaded this within the last 2 weeks. It’s so much better than 12’s or 6’s app - both in design and content. In fact, it’s better than most of the national news apps I use. Nicely done!

Ad service needs help, other issues.. SO many ads, some are for strip clubs. Seriously. Also, ads take over page. I put up with it for a while, but finally deleted and went to a competitor with a better app tonight when the videos in the news stories took over my device’s audio automatically. I couldn’t read the news and listen to music no matter what I did.

Great App!!. Very informative !! Keeps me updated without having to watch the daily news between meaningless commercials (smile)

Bias. All news stations are reporting the news in a bias sensational manner to instill fear and promote their ratings. No good journalism or reporting of just the facts anymore. I assure you that if you went back to just reporting the news your viewership would soar!

Constant lock-ups and crashes. Crashes constantly since the latest IOS update. Was my Go-To news app but now it has been unusable for over a month.

Great App. Has everything I need, I have 2 other apps from other local news stations and this one is the best.

Notification number. My notification number will not clear even after I open the app. The number is just building up.

Nice app. Keeps me in touch with local news where I have live my entire life I moved 12 miles where I used to live and the local news is Washington DC news

Average. Up to date. Quality of writing abysmal. Useful Community feature. Cannot find tech support, so will mention here. National andInternational News have been infested with a photo portrait of a young, dark haired woman for about a month now. I had hoped ABC8 would have noticed this and fixed it!

Splash screen ad resets stories. Ad splash screen on load sometimes resets news story and article I am interested disappears

Love this News App. I 💜💜 this News app! Its on point and keep me updated with school closures, weather, sports, Breaking News and the News in general! I’ve told my friends about it! ABC has always been my favorite News station! Honestly, I downloaded the app because I was out of town and my youngest son is in Middle school. I wanted to keep abreast what was happening with the snow and school closings! I’m glad that I downloaded this app...ABC News 8 WRIC...🎉Happy Holidays to Everyone 🎉🎄✨

Lots of ads everywhere on the app. The content of the app in regards to news is great. There are so many ads everywhere though. I click on the notifications and it takes me into the app but first I have to look at a full screen ad that has to be swiped away before I can read the story. Also some of the ads that are persistent on every screen are those real low quality click bait ads like “do this one trick to lose 50 lbs”.

Biased. It give news, but I do notice many of its articles are very biased and provide subjective and/or incomplete information. Now I understand why so many people are misinformed. Bring back journalists who are fair, balanced, and do accurate unbiased reporting.

Keeps Opening Internet Browser. The app is relatively well organized and easy to navigate. However, I’m taking 3 stars off of my rating because it keeps opening my internet browser when I use it. When I tap on and open an article in the app, it’ll subsequently open my internet browser, open a new tab, and pull up a blank page. It only recently started doing this, and not only is it obnoxious, but it also feels like a huge security risk. If the developers fixed this issue, I’d happily give the app a 5 star rating. Until then, 2 stars it is.

Great for on the go. This app helps me stay up to date on the local news and weather when I'm out of the house.

Too much advertising!. I used to really like this app. But now, I can't click on an article without having to close out a pop-up advertisement. This happens with every news story! Sadly, I will be using other news app which allows me to read the article without the pop-ups.

Crash/freeze. Your app always freezes up and then closes right in the middle of an article ...it always does it and your notifications don’t take you to what the notification says when you click on it and then when you do click on some notifications...poof the article is no longer available, where did it go like the title said on the notification it was breaking news well so important that it’s not there anymore!!! Fix this crappy app , a child could do a better job than whoever developed this crap!!!

App is Unstable. The app is unstable and buggy. It constantly hangs while loading pages, forces itself to quit, becomes unresponsive for 5+ seconds, and I have had it render my phone useless until i did a forced shutdown of the entire device. The articles are diverse and written with higher quality than NBC12 or CBS6, but this app must’ve been designed as a beta. Far too unpolished to be taken seriously as a fully-developed app.

Good Weather. Quick easy access to news and weather.

Great news app. This app is great for anyone who wants to get the news, weather, etc. on the go. It gives the exact same information & you can even set up alerts. I definitely recommend it!

Old app was MUCH BETTER!. The old app was great! The new app is horrible. Going to use the NBC 12 weather app now.

Black screen. Every time I try to open the app. I only have a black screen. Nothing ever populates. I only get notifications. That’s it.

I miss Sports!!. Missing

Clean and Fast Richmond News App. Clean layout makes it easy to navigate. The GPS tracking for weather and traffic is a really handy option. The weather features have everything a dedicated weather app has, video forecasts, even live radar maps you can zoom in down to your own neighborhood. Five stars!

Can not get channel 8 on tv. Only on my phone.. Great when I can get it.

8 news app, older version easier. Well I haven't finished exploring all areas. I'm disappointed with the weather part the older version was so much easier to navigate. Things like humidity and dew point was easy to find, the newest version humidity is buried and it takes a while to get to, forget trying to find Dew Point! Wish they would change that.

Good app. Very reliable, I switched to this news service app for my area because the other news service app always had errors and could not connect, never had a problem with this app.

Shuts down. I used to like the app , but last few weeks it shuts down within seconds of opening the app , I've deleted and re-installed it and it continues

Great Weather And News!!!. I use this app at home all the time for weather but this summer I also found it very helpful for weather at St. Augustine Beach and Disney World!! I downloaded apps local to the area but ended up deleting them. The radar map on this app was way better!!! Normally I don't bother with the news (unless it's on TV at the time) but I do follow a lot more news because of this app. It's easily my most used app!! Great job WTVR!!

Love the app. I enjoy the app because it keeps me up to date with I mean ALL of the local news, but it kicks me out everytime I use it. It’s annoying, I wish they would fix the bugs to prevent it from doing so..

App Ignores Notification Preferences. This app is a fine news app, but if you’re someone who likes control of notifications, don’t get it. Within the settings on the app, you can pick what type of notifications you want to get — traffic, local news, weather, breaking news, sports, etc. However, the app ignores your selections in those settings and notifies you of everything. So it’s an all-or-nothing proposition with notifications. As a result, you will get about 10 notifications per day about everything from a new hot chocolate recipe to a traffic accident on a road you never travel, to a robbery at a nearby store. It’s all too much for me, uninstalled.

Wow. One of the worst aps ever. To basic and slow

Number notification is BROKEN!!!. I've had this app for a long time, but just recently the number notification (red # on the app icon) has just been increasing! At first, I thought, no biggie because I usually read the news at least once, sometimes twice a day. But the past 2 days have been crazy, and my number has jumped to 33! I'm annoyed that I can't dismiss it now. They need to fix this ASAP!! 😩😖

Incredibly useful app!. We have 4 kids and a tv in every room of the house, yet I still can't ever seem to catch the news. It's such a relief to know I can access it on this app whenever I need to and wherever I might happen to be. Also great when power was out and schools were closed.

App stinks. Channel 8 if you are listening you need to change the weather back to way it was on the old app. This new app is horrible. I use other apps to check the weather now.

Ruined it. This was a good app that I used often. Especially liked the map weather feature. Now that’s gone. App not as user friendly. Can’t choose what to see first. More ads and poor map feature. Very disappointed. Won’t be using this app anymore.

Wonderful App. I have this app, along with 2 other news apps. It's great because I can be notified of local news, like school closing and traffic. It keeps me informed! I highly recommend this app, along with a couple more for variety.

Crashes/Freezes. App crashes and freezes almost every time I use it. I love WRIC and prefer to follow/watch/read WRIC but it’s a tad frustrating when the app continually crashes.

Ehh, it’s ok. I do like the pop ups for breaking news until the stories aren’t updated at all. There have been a few since I started using this app that have fallen through the cracks. I am also a bit disappointed that I cannot search for a report that was only on 8. I attempted to look it up on your site and even YouTube with no luck. Is there a way to categorize your investigative reports by reporter, category, date, etc.?

Can't clear the notifications.. I have viewed all of the news stories, but the indicator is showing I have more to view. There is no way to clear all or at least mark all as read.

Good News App. Good news app for the Richmond area.

Intrusive Google ads. Format seems well organized. No sound is a glitch that will likely be corrected. Ridiculously intrusive Google ads on the other hand is obnoxious. If you like privacy of any sort, clearly this is not the app for you. It will not be for me.

More than one issue. 1. Apartments.com ad just speaks out loud. Suppose I’m in a setting where I need to be quiet and just wanna check on a story, did y’all ever think about that before just letting it talk out loud at random 2. The app constantly freezes. It just pauses while reading so I have to close it out and open it up again. 3. The app just crashes while reading it so I have to open it up again and it’ll crashes again. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still crashes every time I use it.

Worst news app ever. Horrible news app.slow loading and too many ads and difficult to navigate. Worst news app. Never takes you to the news story when you make a selection. First it throws up an advertisement video that has to be swiped up, then it takes you to a video for newsnation, then it takes you to a video of the news story. Why not just render the written news instead since you may not be in a place to have a video stream. Once you finally make it to the story you want it is so slow to load because so many ads are stuck in the middle of the article I just close out and go to a different news channel to read the news there. Needs a total overhaul

Great, but missing one thing.... Really nice, useful app, but there is no pinch to zoom! On an iPhone, that is mandatory. Fix that and it will be an excellent app.
