Needs better support. The video in this app is completely unreliable. I often times lose the sound during a live broadcast, and the buffering is out of control. Also ads will load and repeat themselves while I struggle to get the news from this app.

Great. When I'm home I always watch channel 7 and the app is a great tool to keep it with me when I'm away. I appreciate the job everybody does in the channel 7 family.

They are stealing private data. They are stealing possible private. I could not believe it but when I upgraded to iOS 14 it doesn’t prevent but now warns when they steal your data. You can replicate this go to notes, type something like “this is my fake password” and select it and copy it, then launch the WXYZ app and you will see message “WXYZ pasted from Notes” stating they just stole what you copied.

Some good stories and some that shouldn’t be “news”.. App has some good news relevant to the area and even nationally. But I question some stories they post as real “news”. Maybe it’s a slow news day so they put in filler junk but I’d rather not see a story about a sex worker in Ann Arbor getting stuck in a chair. And when did “sex” work become legal in Michigan????? Our values and morals are clearly heading in the wrong direction and the news isn’t helping by reporting on garbage like this.

Great app but.... This is great app and it is very helpful for snow day alerts. It gives me great traffic and weather updates to help with my daily life. The only thing keeping it from five star is that you can only save one school for snow day alerts as I work in a different school district than my kid. This makes things a bit harder in the winter. Otherwise great app!

Really helpful. I use it for keeping up on the news and it saved me a few too many times from being stuck in the cold Michigan.

Worst News App Ever. The app was terrible before but it’s even worse now. Now you have “sign up”, which I’ve tried a dozen times and it won’t let me. It won’t tell me what the issue is either. So much for reading the news. Maybe... just maybe... you’d test your app, and work out the bugs before you launch it.

Ferndale resident. Since I moved back to Michigan after twenty years in Tennessee this is the only news station I watch morning noon and night really enjoy all the news people nice mix keep it up

Great App!. We thoroughly enjoy WXYZ app...we receive the latest updates on everything including weather and news locally.

Crashes. App crashes when opening for the first time , then will work after that usually, app is hard to navigate to traffic and closing shift. The other local news 2 4 do not crash even after 11.0 updates

New and weather all in one. Unlike the 2 other local station apps channel 7 has news and weather in one app. No hassle and ease of use make a 5 star revue for this user!

Why do we need to vote.. like every 2 hours!!. The app asks you to vote on tons of topics going on around town... and won’t let you opt out of those voting notifications. I just deleted it because it was too much.. I turned on the notifications for Channel 4 instead.

Great app, could use a tad more optimization. This app is very convenient for checking school closings, it even sends a push notification for districts you select! However, the radar doesn’t seem to be optimized for iPhone X, unlike the rest of the app. Other than that, works great!

Provides a little “Back Home”. I grew up in Detroit and watched Channel 7 News for years. 30 years ago I relocated to Florida and missed al of the Detroit products: Vernors, Faygo, Better Made, Free Press and (of course) Channel 7. Now, with the help of the Channel 7 News App, I can get a touch of home. Thanks Channel 7!

Saved Stories. App will not permanently bookmark stories you want to save. Instantly reverts as soon as you click it to save. Please fix.

Tv local news. Good web site, would be better if select news stories did not auto start the video portion. There are times I want to just read the news not listen to the story.

Channel 7 news. Only station I watch for news for a very long time. My favorite news station

Love the app!. Since my work & life schedule usually keeps me from watching the news when it broadcasts, I rely on this app to keep me posted as to the highlights. I also like that I can adjust the weather forecast for my actual zip since I live just outside of Metro. Keep up the good stuff, WXYZ! Almont Twp., MI. 💕

Pay for community service?. This was such a good app, but with a recent upgrade, you now have to pay for “premium service” if you want to see an organized (read “in alphabetical order”) view of school closings.

Love Channel 7. Love the 7 News and Weather app and texts of breaking news.

WXYZ Review. I believe this station is the most accurate when it comes to reporting local news for the metro area & the surrounding counties, aside from their obvious biases. 🥸

Sound issues. I like to have this on my tv while I am cooking. But I haven’t been able to because I have to keep going back and forth to adjust the volume. If I turn down the volume for the commercials I can’t hear the newscasters and vice versa.

WXYZ App. I like the app and all news stories. Journalism today goes with you and on the go. What a benefit to all.

Best local news around. For someone reason I like channel 7 always have since I was a kid and I’m only 26 now .I watched Dave Rexroth when I was younger and wanted to become a meteorologist and so on just great people keeps me watching !

Live stream window. I really like the app. But it would be better if the live stream video could run in a pop out window instead of having to keep the full app or browser page open to watch/listen. Then I can answer text messages etc.

Ups and downs. Was good then went downhill. Then some improvements came... now the app crashes during opening after the last update

Superb.. All the news right in my palm, I catch up with the app more then I just sit and watch the live news channel, mostly cause I’m not always home to watch tv, and I get the notifications for the important things, the highlights, although I’ve lost complete interest, faith, and all in channel 7 WXYZ Detroit cause I’ve tried reaching out to them in need of help via Facebook they read it but said not a thing at all, so they aren’t there for people the way you’d like for them to be... (I bet if I win my case they’ll want to interview me then but I’ll refuse it completely and give it to some other station) but the app has been pretty much helpful mostly till I try to open the story on from the notification and it don’t take me to it like it’s should then you try searching and scrolling and you never find it even when it’s something that just happened and you try opening it right away, that needs to be fixed. So this is me giving those stars to the APP and no credit to channel 7 news.

I can’t always get to the television. Great to have this app. So you can get your news-weather-alerts , at your convenience.

Too much down time. While we have always loved the morning news, weather, and traffic from Channel 7, when we use the app, there is too much down time. When you try to open the "live" news, get ready to endure a 30 second commercial and maybe you get the live feed. There is no feed during the commercial breaks unless it is a local vendor. You may wait almost fifteen minutes until any news comes back. Try another station, you may have better luck. Thanks WXYZ for helping realize how much news one gets during a broadcast compared to how much time is spent on commercials.

Regular news casts. My husband and I have always been faithful followers of channel 7, however the bias that is overwhelming against our President is very disappointing all u report is the negative nothing about all the good his is doing. What a shame that the disrespect for our President is so obvious It is very clear that channel 7 and the news casters make it very clear that they are disappointed with the countries choice for the commander and chief of our country. Video ads. After years of steady and continuous improvement. You have taken the big step backwards to a one star rating because of your video apps. There is no way to select an option of playing them. I am an early riser, and the last thing I want is the video Add playing at 4 AM while I am trying to review the news without disturbing my family. Shame on you. For being so obtrusive.

Great News Coverage. The news is very timely and well written. I love the coverage of breaking stories. This app also provides recap of Detroit sports and concise weather forecasts!

App rating. Like the app except when get notifications of new stories when click on it & get taken to the sight no story exists yet! Very frustrating!

Great app. I use this app every day to check the weather first thing in the morning. I use it throughout the day to keep me updated on current events. All in all I really like it, no problems thus far.

Biased channel. I used to enjoy reading everyday news on the app, even though they are very slow reporting new things, your app is meant for local news and to keep people informed of what is going around them and not to express your political views, I get it you are democrat but at least be fair when it comes to reporting and let the people judge, also if you want yo report anything about Trump, make sure you report the positive news too and just the negative.

First rate news channel!. We always watch channel 7 news all the time because it is the very best news channel in Detroit! When we go to Florida every winter, we always have Channel 7 news on our phones and I also have it on my iPad so that we always have the news from home available. Great journalism and not FAKE NEWS!

Ok app but poorly written articles. The articles are usually very poorly written. It’s a good app to see what’s going on but many articles are painful to read or make little sense.

Ali Hoxie. Ali Hoxie is not the correct person to have as your newscaster on live TV. She makes more mistakes reading from the teleprompter and it is so annoying. You have two other women who have substituted in her place and have done a great job. Please consider putting her back as a street reporter.

Straight News/Non Partisan. I switched from the other well known news channel app . Their news stories were more like an editorial with the stations preferences obvious. I just want the straight story/news. I’ll make my own decisions after reading. Thank you!

Traffic map. Where is the live traffic map? It was always my favorite for live traffic conditions

Channel 7 app. I love it, I can pick what I want to see , new with any children getting hurt just destroys my day. I can avoid all news that will do that. Thank you for letting me choose my news. Brad Dupuis

Bring back the old version. MUCH preferred the previous version. This new app has far too many ads that are very distracting & annoying. Seems like this version is half ads & half news. Also less easy to navigate.

So helpful. They have stuff up so quick like once I was watching the news on the tv when I decided to look on the website (the weather was taking forever) so then I got on the app and I saw the weather then I'm like OK and turned my iPod off but then the news came on the TV and It said the ECXACT same thing that it said on the app! Best in Detroit!. I love the alerts that come from this app when there is breaking news. And I like the new layout. Much easier to scroll through all the big stories.

Awful update. The new update is awful. I used to check this app regularly for my news and traffic information but now I will be deleting it. I would like to be able to read news stories instead of having to watch videos. In addition, there is no easy access menu for weather, traffic, etc. I'm very disappointed and hope that they come up with an update soon that fixes these problems.

Old Hometown station. Live in NC for 34 of my 68 years. This App allows me to follow my teams and local news.

What Did You Do?. The app was much easier to use before the latest update. Sometimes videos wouldn't play on my phone, but that was really my only complaint (aside from the god-awful editing; nobody there has a spell checker on their computer?). Now, it's become very clunky and difficult to manage. I'm not ready to switch to a different Detroit newscast app, but I will probably stop using this one as often until the next update comes out and see if it gets better. I've been a fan of Channel 7 news since I was a kid, back in the John Kelly and Marilyn Turner days of the 1970s, so I'm not ready to give up yet. Hopefully, they manage to get it all straightened out.

Wrong area. When you choose this app- be careful it does not bring in local WXYZ DETROIT- it brings national news not your typical lical Detroit anchors.

Horrible upgrade. I used to love this app. I will use another news stations app for my go to! I went to check school closings and couldn't find them! I couldn't find traffic! I liked the menu where I could go to what I wanted. The weather portion is horrible also. I want to be able to go to the weather and be able to see whatever day I want in their menu also! I will not be using this app. Very disappointed!

Notifications issue!. I signed up for only sports notifications but I get all notifications. Please fix ASAP!

Shameful. Update is terrible. I don't like having to scroll and scroll and avoid accidentally tapping ads just to view the headlines. I forget the headlines at the top before I get to the bottom. It's not user friendly anymore. I unfollowed wxyz's Facebook page a couple weeks ago because of the shameless click bait posts, and now it's clear they are trying to pinch more pennies out of the app. I'll be getting my news elsewhere from now on. Wxyz has really gone to the dogs. And does no one proofread news articles anymore?

Since the upgrade, it crashes.😕. Ever since I upgraded the app, the app crashes. I can’t even open it. Very sad.

Don't wast your time. Don't wast your time typing it in on the Internet just get the app. In the winter you can check easily to see if you/child has school or see if there is any traffic. I use it 5 days a week it is so useful. You should get it so you don't have to type anything in or if you hate watching the news the app is always open. It is also free have fun checking the news bye.

Missing important features. There is no way to easily contact But if all you do is PR and ads and not news maybe they don’t care

Update is so bad that I deleted app!!!!. The new update is so bad that I deleted app from phone and downloaded another local news stations app. The previous version it was easy to manage and select traffic, weather, news and other relevant stores. In the new update, I could not get traffic incident updates. I would check the traffic before driving through Detroit and it gave up to date and shouldn't everywhere. This new app, has too many advertisements and I have to be careful scrolling or a hit an advertisement by mistake. I usually watch the news station on TV who's app that I have on my phone. Good channel 7.

Dazed and Confused. This new iteration of the app is terrible. Trying to put in too much that confuses everything. I don't need 4 days of worn out stories or 3 images on the same banner that are all the same. I want to see only what is going on today. Simple layout with only relevant info is much better than this junky app. Don't know what you were thinking. Time to delete it until you put out something worthwhile.

This app is beyond horrible. Deleted!. Why fix what isn't broken? Having the "breaking" story with video and text so large and next to each other just doesn't make sense. Take up my entire screen for one story at a time? Dumb! And the extra adds in between the chunky story boxes are beyond annoying and useless. We get it, Carson's has a big sale woohoo! Small tabs at bottom for limited items, waste of screen space. And where did the school closing list disappear to? The weather section is hidden away and offers little information. I loved the older version which had the "more" options on the right that opened a list to scroll down and choose from. The last version was much easier to navigate thru and offered more information not just the top 'selected' stories. I highly recommend taking this app back to the last version. I have moved on to a different news app. Hey if read the reviews and learn from them you will get your viewers back. PLEASE PEOPLE, GO BACK TO LAST VERSION!!

Fastest way to catch up on the news. It's simple and it works. What more do we need from a Detroit news app? This is great. And you can watch clips from Channel 7 news. Their alert messages are also really good if you want to know about breaking news before anyone else in town. Nice app!

No live news stream. Live news stream doesn’t work all the time. Sits on splash screen. Have to shutdown and restart multiple time before stream will start.

Great! But could use more features.... Great, wonderful app! Really! One thing I really wish it had was school closing notifications for your specific location (you would be able to favorite your school and it would send you a push notification that school is closed)! :)

New Version of App Awful. This app was a great go-to for news. Easy to scroll through and access to several news departments(sports, headlines, county, etc). This version that came out late last year is not user friendly, the content is limited and the ads seem to take up most of the page. I understand it's a free app, but why mess up a good thing?

Terrible update. I actually wrote to WXYZ to complain about the updated app. The answer I got back basically said they interviewed many people and this is what the majority wanted. I find that impossible to believe. With the old app it was so easy to see headlines and click on what I wanted to read. Now there are lots of big repeating ads and articles are being repeatedly posted that are a week old. I will not continue with this app if it stays the way it is. Please bring back the old one. I have always loved Channel 7 news.

This APP has a bug!. I downloaded this app and when it demands an email and password, that’s where everything goes wrong! Very unhappy with this app

Can't live without it!. Great news app for this news junkie. It's fresh and constantly updated with solid content. Stellar auto news section too!

Not as good as it used to be. This app used to be a prime news source. I am a news junkie and I appreciated getting numerous quick news update notifications from this app about not only local issues, but also state, national, and international events. It was always so quick too. I found out about Sandy Hook from this app as it was happening. But now I receive significantly fewer notifications and I don't know why. It is basically pointless to have now.

Could be better. If you download this app, watch where you swipe with your finger because you WILL accidentally touch one of the countless, giant-sized ads, which begins a time-wasting process of launching Safari, you getting the ad page to stop loading, closing that tab in Safari so it doesn't keep loading every time, closing Safari, and switching back to read your news stories. Also, there are lots of spelling and grammatical errors in news reports, which makes me question credibility and competency to write and present news stories. Unprofessional, but that's the landscape of all news media web content these days. Update: I deleted this app after I could no longer control when the ads would launch in Safari. They would just... pop up... Randomly and frequently. Sorry Channel 7, I like Action News but this app is awful.

Over 100 Notifications in 15 Minutes. Thanks for letting me know that Huron Valley Schools are closed but do I have to get a push notification every 3 seconds. They are actually coming faster now.

Up to Date, Works Great!!. The WXYZ app is a great tool for anything in Sports, Weather, News, and much more. Love watching 7 Action News, especially now on myTV20, and it is great how hard working there staff is. Proud to be called a WXYZ supporter, this app is best for Breaking News and more. HIGHLY recommend this app to anyone!

Not a Fan..... I too used to go to this app for all my local news. I no longer bc if the upgrade. What I liked about the old app is that you could see multiple stories at once and could scroll through to the stories your most interested in. Now one story takes all the landscape on my phone so I can no longer see what the next story it. Please bring back old version. Thx.

Way too many ads popping up..... Way too many ads popping up while scrolling through the news. I have to exit out of them 5 or more consecutive times before they go away. Once they do and I click on a new article, the same thing happens. Just started happening today. Going to try and delete then reload the app. If that doesn't help I'm done with it and will use a different app for local news.

Outstanding. I have several news apps & find the WXYZ app to be far superior to all if them-even national news sources in content, ease of access, and layout of the site. Thank you!

This is so bad!. Update January 29: I've deleted this and am using the Detroit News app. Much better. For everyone that doesn't like this new version, try the Detroit News. I really do not like this update. Not even sure where to start. There is not enough information on the screen at one time. I don't like the side by side story/video. I prefer to read the news as I'm not always in a place where it is appropriate to play videos. Then sometimes I click on a story and there is no story! Just say something like "click here to play more" and takes you to video. If this is not revised I will be deleting this app.

Horrible Update. This update is horrible. Bigger is not better. Headings are far to big. Even pop up adds are bigger and delay loading. News headings need to be condensed for the ease & function of scrolling through. You've likely lost a user based on this setback of an update. Nothing good about this "new" version. Very disappointing given I'm a news guy and grew up with Channel 7 news on tv. I used to like this one for local news. I can't see how this would even pass the meeting room before launching its that bad in my opinion. Stick with the old one. You guys really took a step back. Take a clue from Channel 4 WDIV.

Too much negative and not updated. You guys spend way too much on negativity and you do not keep up with what happens on the weekend enough.

Awful update. The new app design is absolutely awful. There is no option to sort between local, u.s, etc. The stark white background is not easy on the eyes whatsoever. You can no longer swipe right to go back to the main feed, which is something you could do prior to update. This is a poorly thought out redesign that someone needs to change, and fast

New app is poor and too many glitches. I am not impressed at all by the new improved app. Anytime I try to click on preference the app closes and now it won't open at all. I have deleted and downloaded the app more times than I can count and still not fixed. This makes me mad because I like the news channel and they really need to fix it. I also don't like how I have to scroll through all the ads and stories to find one . There should be a list to pick from. Also I hate how when I get a notification of a story and when I click it I can never find it. Very dissatisfied 😡😡😡🏍

Good notifications. I'm from out of town, working in metro D during week. I use app mostly for notifications that alert me to weather and traffic issues, as well as other important issues happening. Not sure why there's so much noise about the last update. I like it.

Notification settings do not work. It's great that the settings allow you to filter which topics you'd like to receive as notifications, but it doesn't work. I do not need to be inundated with pointless "what's on next" notifications when I only want to weather. I'll get my weather notifications elsewhere.

I miss your old app!. The new format is horrible! Before, I could quickly browse all the stories with one quick glance and not have to scroll through pages of ads & photos to see what was happening in Metro Detroit on my phone. I hate this format and hope you will give the option to return to the older version again!!! It's not easier to use or view news, it's worse!!! Disappointed, devoted channel 7 viewer. :(
