Glitchy, depressing design. I rarely go out of my way to rate apps negatively, but the NBA app devs and designers missed the the mark with this one. I don’t use the NBA app on my phone at all but on my Apple TV it essentially gets treated like a homepage. Last year’s design was user friendly, very easy to navigate, box scores were easy to read, and the design was pretty cool. With this new design I feel like I have to jump through hoops just to watch a game. If I select to watch a live game from the Home Screen, the app automatically pops up other live games and takes over the screen from the game that I already chose. It won’t allow me to scroll up to return to the game and the ‘menu’ button on the remote takes me out of the game completely. If I’m unable to watch a game because it is a black out game, instead of letting me read the viewing options, it just jumps straight to the list of highlights. It doesn’t allow me to scroll up to the top of the page at all. I can get over the design but please fix the bugs, guys. I’m not overly excited about spending $100+ for a buggy app.

The 2022 version of this app is not very good. The previous NBA app left a bit to be desired, but this latest version is almost unusable outside of watching live games. Sounds like the head of Product was told by their boss to “make it like Tik-Tok.” Vertical video may work well for social media but it’s an absolutely awful way to watch basketball highlights. I’m a League Pass customer, but that doesn’t mean that every time I click on a box score, I want to watch or rewatch the game. Also, the box score scroll and snap is so messy that it’s extremely frustrating to read. Plus, it seems like there is no longer any editorial content to read. Only videos and very brief summaries. I’m giving it three stars because the live games do work well, although the previous functionality of defaulting to your favorite team’s feed seems to be broken. I almost always have to switch the feed when watching a live game. I understand that these apps need to make modern-style changes to stay relevant, but I think this app does it at the expense of traditional basketball fans who are likely the ones who pay to use the advanced functions of the app.

One of the best sports app, but there are specific bugs they never fix. It is a constantly updated and maintained app with reasonable prices and they support nearly every Apple OS and feature (down to Watch of your favorite teams), but there are specific bugs that they never fix year after year, even through various rehashes of the application that do drive me nuts. I work in cybersecurity and I can even tell where some of these bugs in this app are possibly lying without being a developer (they are really great at fixing many of them), but things like Blackout Rules, location awareness of the GPS vs. your carrier’s or ISP’s location, random crashes, and other nitpicky, but rather annoying when you are paying them hundreds of dollars a season, plus the games you see live and all. They do improve and keep with the times (and unfortunately, they’ve even pulled some things away like keeping multiple favorite teams at the top of the list and other small dedicated user features), so you should definitely be sure to get this app and give them feedback.

Great but…. So, I always go to the app to check up on scores and stuff. But it always asks me for my NBA ID. And I already have one, I like just payed for the League Pass this week. And it did this last year too. So I always have to go to my passwords and look at my password so I can put it in. It mostly does it when I go to Ask NBA Beta. So NBA, I hope this review is helpful to you. And who knows, it may just be a problem only for me or maybe I’m doing something wrong. Thanks for reading! And another thing is League Pass. I never get to watch my Bucks games because it’s like always on TNT and I’m not about to try to watch games on TNT overtime. And since I’m a Bucks fan, my teams was in the playoffs and I barely got to watch any games. Thank you for reading!

Wish the didn’t “update” the App. As a visually impaired person this App has been fantastic. For ten bucks a year I can listen to any game, regardless of which region I’m in, on the schedule live. All you had to do was click on the App, click on games and click listen live. Also, if I needed help, someone responded quick and was helpful. This year, the message was to “remain patient”. There seemed to be zero curiosity to understand the frustration. Then came this year. Took me 20 minutes of going through the labyrinth to figure out the new pathway which includes going to my profile, then the broadcast schedule, clicking listen and then unmuting the game you’re trying to listen to. Then the broadcast I was listening to was skipping every few minutes. The help support had zilch for audio issue and email response told me to “remain patient”. There seemed to be zero curiosity to understand the frustration. It’s like the person who designed wanted to have more laborious steps. The new update has more snazz but way more challenging to navigate. Maybe it’s better for viewing individuals now and I guess that’s where the money is. I used to encourage friends to join up because it was super easy and satisfying. Now, it’s just frustrating so I canceled.

Something is wrong with the app. More recently, I have noticed a problem with this app, where it doesn't send me any notifications at all. No score updates or anything. I keep going to settings and turning on all possible notifications, but then they automatically turn off the moment I exit the app. I know this because if I exit the app and go back on again, and go back to settings, notifications show up as being turned off again, despite me having turned it on just moments ago. This is a big and annoying problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. Update: I sent this review a few days ago, and I tried the solution that the Developer Response gave me, which was to delete the app and reinstall it. It didn't work. The notifications still automatically turn off every time I exit the app.

Ads are infuriating. There are constant app-specific ads that block live game action on League Pass. Every time you start watching a game, 30-75 seconds of ads. Switch feeds? More ads. Just watching the game? Don’t worry, the app will leave the game to show you a 30-second ad while your team is making a run. Plus, there are lots of technical issues that interrupt your feed, and you have to watch more ads every time you restart it. I just spent 10 minutes trying to cast to my TV with airplay. Not only did it never work, but I spent about 7 of those 10 minutes with ads playing instead of basketball. I’m paying for the ability to watch NBA games, but the app is preempting live game action in favor of an ad. That would be unacceptable even for a free, ad-supported service. It is beyond the pale for a paid service.

Poor streams. The app itself isn’t bad. It’s the streaming that can be annoying and frustrating. Ghost trails, skips, hangs up. Which is all super annoying while watching a sporting event. And I’m not even talking about live, this is after the game is over and watching a pre-recorded finished game. Then you have the commercials they insert, which I understand needs to happen, but they also have issues inserting them and they sometimes run into game action before stopping. In this day and age they should be able to run a smoother app. I feel like I’m watching streaming from the year 2000. UPDATE: Developer reached out and said to update and reinstall app. Did that and same absolutely awful skipping and hanging up. Game starts fine, but as it goes on it gets worse and worse to the point where it’s unwatchable. It takes a game I love and tortures me with it.

NBA league pass is terrible. I am extremely disappointed with NBA league pass. I paid $120 so that I could watch the Warriors games this season and I have been blocked from watching a large amount of them so far. When I made the decision to subscribe to NBA league pass I calculated how many warriors games I would be able to watch outside of the ones aired on tnt, ESPN, nba tv etc. Since paying for the subscription though, the NBA has decided to change many of the games to NBA TV after the fact. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to watch these games. If there was a way to rent a single game, I would pay for it. I am not going to subscribe to NBA Tv in addition to league pass, that is ridiculous. Why wouldn’t NBA tv be available for league pass subscribers?? I don’t even know how to watch NBA TV games as there is no app for it and they are not available on the nba app. I have been a subscriber to league pass for a number of years but this year is unacceptable how many games they have changed after the fact to NBA TV. There has been at least six changed so far. I don’t see myself subscribing again in the future if the games I paid for are not available whenever the league decides.

Don’t buy league pass. I use this app to access my league pass, which is garbage. You can’t use a VPN, and they are admittedly selling your information to 3rd parties. You can’t ask NBA to stop selling your information—instead they instruct you to contact every single one of their “partners” separately (which is many) and I guess ask them to stop buying your information? And even if you buy league pass, you can’t watch games that are on NBA TV or blacked out because of local broadcasts. So if you actually want to watch all of your teams’ games, you have to pay for cable, pay for NBA TV, and league pass. If they were smart, they would make this whole thing simpler for the people they are asking to pay them. UPDATE: the “developer response” or lack thereof only reinforces my criticisms. They’re selling your email address to third parties who will spam you. NBA TV blackouts have nothing to do with local broadcasting contracts. One thing you can do to make the app better (aside from selling my information) is make it work with airplay—any time I try to AirPlay, it takes me dozens of tries before it actually works. Other apps are airplaying, but when I try with this app, it acts like it’s doing something and then just goes back to the Home Screen after a few seconds. After 20 minutes or so of repeatedly trying, you might get lucky and get it to work.

So much better… but. (DEVS READ). Things I like: Most importantly, video playback just works consistently this year. You can now watch from the beginning without having to wait hours after the game ends to watch. THANK YOU! I love that when you hide scores, the game plays from the beginning instead of live. The dot next to a players name indicating they’re in the game is a nice touch. Much better overall than last year. NEEDS FIXED: Box scores are buggy. When you try to scroll, it takes multiple touches & also resets to the left. Box scores should be the main tab instead of summary. I have to click it every time & never look at summary unless I want to see the score by quarter. (which should be in the box score tab anyway) It’s really annoying clicking on each game & it auto playing before you can do anything. Standings should have a pull to refresh. I have to close the app to update them. There are game spoilers on the “for you” page even with “hide scores” on. It would be cool if there was a way to hide scores before the app fully opens. I have to cover my screen & hope I don’t see the score when I want to watch a game that already started or is over. I can’t pause when ads are playing sometimes.

Downgrade. I should preface this review by saying that I use this app primarily as a way to look up player stats and watch league pass. I would assume that this is the case with most people, and that is why I am only going to talk primarily about those two features. This used to be a really great app.... I say used to be because the developers took everything that made the old app good (player profile page, ease of use, clean look, etc) and completely screwed it up. The player profile page used to be great. It had all the important stats, age, height, alma mater, etc. Now it’s a 1 inch line of useless junk followed by a bunch of spammy looking ads and videos all of which is showcased on an ugly white background that looks like something you would have considered second rate back in 2004... like first of all, after charging 200$ a pop for league pass that only has half the games on it, getting $2.66 billion a year from tnt, and charging ungodly amounts for in person tickets, I know there’s no way you needed to destroy this app just to sneak in a couple ad spots. NOBODY HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE OLD APP...

Good I guess. This app is interesting and it keeps me updated with games and stats and extra features which is really cool but I feel like they could make it more fun and you could do stuff like watch games without needing to get a feature and needing to sign in which they want your password to your gmail,I am going to need to check on that with my mom. I love the NBA and I would love to be part of the fam and the stuff that I am able to do is most of the stuff on the app and it is really interesting. I am a new fan of the NBA so I think I heard in some of these reviews that there was a classic version that was a little better so maybe you could add some of the things to this version that there was in the last version

It would be great if... Love the app - i do have a feature request that would be a great to have: I always have the “hide scores” options on and go in the app at night and watch the last 5 minutes of most games, looking for close ones. It would be great if in the “hide scores” layout there was some sort of visual indication of a close game (ie games that ended within 5 points difference are highlighted in red, or even an asterisk would do it). This would let us avoid having to go through a bunch of blowout games (ad + skipping forward to the actual 4th quarter takes a while..) before getting to the interesting ones (all while adding the actual scores and winners). Would be a real nice to have..

NBA TV is quality entertainment. The app itself has a clean interface that makes it easy to find any info or news I am searching for, like box scores, standings, and highlights. NBA TV is far and away the best channel in television and has been for the last years eight years since I have been watching it. All of the analysts and reporters, like Greg Anthony, Grant Hill, Lauren Jbara, Stephanie Ready, Sam Mitchell, and Isiah Thomas, are many more are passionate about the game of basketball. What really sets apart the NBA’s own coverage of their sports from other channels is that they remain clean in language and stick to appropriate topics and healthy discourse. NBA TV and games on League Pass (which are available with this app) give my family a great alternative to the negativity and filth in so much other media. My sons who now play basketball in school have positive athletes to look up to and learn the game from analysts who know how to be entertaining, and even funny, without degrading themselves or other people. Instead of manufactured controversy, the league is able to keep interesting story lines organically through a continually-evolving sport with the most competitive and dedicated athletes in the world. I feel good about supporting the NBA directly as a viewer and subscriber and will continue to do so for as long as the league expresses this commitment to being a positive pillar in our society.

Fine on the phone but the AppleTV side is a mess. App works great on the phone, no issues at all. 👍 On the AppleTV though, it’s a buggy mess. Biggest issue is that nearly every time the app starts it auto plays a stream. If you navigate to another section of the app, the audio for the auto played stream continues, even if you play something else. You end up with the stream you want to watch playing with both audio tracks overlapping in the background. It’s massively frustrating as there’s no obvious way to fix it. Force closing the app and restarting it often takes you back to the same condition. Also, the app is generally really buggy. It crashes a lot and will randomly log you out of your NBA account.

League Pass/Player Stats. I usually don’t write a review for any app but I’ve had a continuous struggle with this app for a while with two main things that began to bother me. Most importantly watching games through league pass on this app is a big struggle as it works about 20% of the time while the other times it says the video is unavailable. Keep in mind this isn’t caused by blackouts as it gives the message for every game, even NBATV. I find that I have to try again in about 20 minutes or keep refreshing the app until it works. Secondly searching for players stats simple doesn’t exist. The only efficient way to find a player is to filter by team and select them. I was bewildered by this as it seems like a pretty easy thing to add that was in past versions of the app. Hopefully Lebron can complain about these two things and get a fix going.

Great Experience. I don’t know why this app has so many negative reviews. I’ve been a league pass subscriber for a couple years now, and this apps new look has made it so much more user friendly (especially on the TV). Games load in smoothly, the new layout makes it easy to transition between them, and I love the fact I can choose which broadcast I want to watch. My only complaint is that while watching a game, I can’t see stats/ change games without leaving the full screen tab. This is an option that was available with the last rendition of the app, but not with this one.

Given how much money they make the app should not be as crappy as it is. If I try to look at stats, I can’t even scroll over half the time to see the plus minus or whatever is not showing up on the screen. Watching video, it does hiccup a lot more than I would expect and many times. I have to exit the app and get back into it when I’m trying to start a stream because it just does not load up. The content that is their lives much to be desired in terms of being informative to me, and then the packaged manner that is efficient. And this is just a general complaint about the NBA televising policies: getting into bed with major cable companies at the cost of the fan. I cannot even watch my favorite basketball team in my area (BKN NETS) because it is due to greed and monopoly. Seeing a Nets game is the MAIN focus of my basketball viewership. The only way to see it is to get a cable package which is very either Verizon or Comcast. The YES network also complicit. The user interface overall is not the worst I have ever seen but given the resource the NBA has at its disposal… the quality and design of it is pathetic. I’m pretty sure this entire comment will be disregarded and not make an ounce of difference. Whoever wants to watch basketball doesn’t really have much choice. An idea that is very good in terms of watching a game is to have an option where the commentary is just turned off. I don’t know why it isn’t a thing yet. -end diatribe

Ad walls for paying customers; landscape only. The amount of ads in this app is insane. I’m a paying customer. Show me ads during commercial breaks. Also known as ad breaks. I just sat through a 90 second ad to begin a stream and then a 120 second ad just to make the screen bigger. During play. There should not be ads during play EVER. There should not be ads when switching between games. I paid to watch the games. Generally, it is ludicrous that the app only works on landscape and the different tabs are garbage. Like when I open the app and it’s just garbage or when I go to the “watch” tab and it’s also garbage. Then I mercifully realize I have to go to “games” in order to WATCH the games I paid for, AFTER ADS. I used the NHL app last year and now ESPN and those apps deliver programming on demand without interrupting or ad-walling during play. And work vertically. This app experience is terrible and I feel it unlikely I will be a repeat customer.

Old app is better and last season league pass is better. I purchased league pass during preseason. Was only able to watch live games. If I was to go back and watch an old game audio was two to four plays ahead of game play was able to watch a game for about 10 minutes then a video playback error pops up. Went to to talk to live tech support no one was available. I sent an email for help no response. I thought to myself this issue will get taken care during regular season. Big shock! I was wrong. Regular season starts and I finally was able to talk to a live person on tech support. He wasn’t able to help me. I had to send another email and then I received a response. They still can’t fix the problem. This has been going on since November! When I ask for compensation they tell that can’t because I purchased the league pass through iTunes. When I talk to iTunes about guess what happens? That’s right they tell me it’s on NBA league pass since they are the developers. Go back to the league pass “We are unable to give compensation or a refund since you purchased NBA league pass through iTunes”. They don’t care. I have talked to 8 different people about my situation and are asked the same questions when a new person “try’s” to help me. Also when I ask a question does it get answered. Nope! DO NOT GET LEAGUE PASS THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!!

Garbage App. If I could give zero stars I would. If you plan on watching league pass on an Xbox don’t waste your money. Half the time full game streams aren’t available. The other half I’ll start the full stream only to be kicked out halfway through. When I go back to watch it the full game streams aren’t available. I’ve talked to support multiple times. Update the app (it’s updated) or take screenshots of the issues is their advice. How am I supposed to take a screenshot of getting kicked out of the full game stream? The phone app says I’m in the same market so I can’t watch the game for three days despite living hundreds of miles away. Absolute joke of an app. Can’t wait for the response apologizing about the bad experience and suggesting deleting and redownloading the app. Maybe give everyone who can’t use the app as advertised a refund and develop an app that works.

Terrible App. For being a multibillion dollar league you would think they could create an app that actually works. Among several app bugs: asks me to sign in over and over even though I’m already signed in. Sometimes I exit and reopen the app and I’m signed in. Other times I have to log in again. The featured games on the home page never scroll properly, they always restart the scroll when you’re trying to swipe right to other featured games. While watching a game that is live, if you are not watching the LIVE feed (let’s say you’re watching after them game has started but before it’s finished) the stream will automatically jump to LIVE when the game ends. Doesn’t matter if you’re 5 min behind or an hour behind, it jumps to the end when the stream ends and you see the results of the now finished game.

My first App Store review. Congratulations! This has to be a genius level scam. You charge a subscription fee and then block all of my teams games. Wow... just wow! The amazing team that developed this app must have had some crazy brainstorming sessions. “Hmm... what can we do to drive away our paying customer base. Let’s release an app that doesn’t work properly. Yup that should do the trick!” Great job you guys. Give yourselves a pat on the back because this fantastic new update is causing me to cancel my NBA league pass subscription. You disabled the ability to use a VPN and for some dumb reason you also disabled the mirror/airplay function. Who the heck wants to watch a game on their phone after paying for a premium subscription. If I’m paying for the service I should have the option to either watch on my phone or on my tv. But none of that matters because now that I can’t use a VPN, I can no longer watch home or away games because they are all blacked out. So what’s the point in paying for a service that you blocked all access to. The answer is none.

Do not pay money thinking you’ll get to watch full games. This year’s new app is terrible. All the other comments about UI are true. I’ve subscribed for years, but this year they trim the full game replays so much that you miss any pregame talk, so you don’t hear last minute match ups, injury reports of line ups, how the two teams have done against one another in the past, etc. They also cut out replays, technical fouls, challenges, any discussion by the announcers about current happenings in the games. They cut off the last seconds (and sometimes minutes) of quarters. No half time. I have examples of every one of these claims. In the moment, when you’re into your game, it’s VERY frustrating. The whole game watching experience is thrown off. I’ve brought this up to tech support, and they just say they apologize for the inconvenience. The way I see it, they take your full payment, but don’t think they should give you full games.

Video player is locked when ads are active for paying subscribers.. During game breaks the video player is locked to show commercials. You cannot pause, rewind, fast-forward or even STOP/EXIT the video player when commercials are playing. For a “premium” video app this is unacceptable. Subscriptions cost anywhere from $18 a month to $40 a month and yet they lock the video player during commercials. It’s not locked when watching the actual games, which is what you’re paying a premium price for. But during commercials you can’t even close the video player to check scores, view highlights, or change games. I consider this broken. NBA, if you want to force people to watch commercials then give it away for free. If you want to charge a premium price to watch NBA games then you should offer a premium experience — which means that users can do whatever they want during commercial breaks. You can’t have it both ways.

Constantly have to validate subscription. Just started the subscription at the beginning of the season. I have it on my phone and Apple TV. Every time I try and watch it on Apple TV It says subscribe to watch live game. I constantly have to click the restore purchases for it to say you have no purchases. Then I have to relogin via the phone for it to work. Plus the playback constantly stops for some playback error. I used this app last year and had no issues, this year I don’t know what’s going on with this app. If I’m paying money then it should be working as it supposed too. Also what’s up with the local black out games. If I try and watch the Lakers or Clippers or a game on TNT or ESPN it blocked. What am I paying for then if I can’t see all the games? Plus it looks like the NBA wants me to pay twice to watch games ? Pay on this app and then on cable service to watch the NBA on ESPN and TNT, that’s ludicrous.

Paid for NBA League Pass, doesn’t work across multiple apps live. Have tried to watch multiple games from the app on my mobile and from the app on Apple TV. Neither work consistently. Have taken the time to confirm login details, uninstall, reinstall, confirm internet connection. Everything setup correctly, just poor low quality apps. In the middle of the game, they will cut to adds, skip around and have unwatchable playback. I have never been able to watch an entire live game with the app working correctly and it always causes me to just turn it off. Have had this happen multiple times now and finally upset enough to leave a negative review because I’ve had such a bad experience. Super disappointing specifically when it is extremely hard to justify the expense. Will never make this mistake again and will look into paying for NBC Sports app or any other alternative in the future. Buyer beware, these apps don’t work and you can’t watch the games in real time without issues. Update 4/5/21 - Submitted request to troubleshoot issues per comment to response. Will report back if anything comes of it.

Getting worse. This is my 12th season with league pass and I have no idea what they did this year but they just made it horribly. Is seriously slow, many errors while playing, after waiting for a long time to play, then you can select which broadcast you want and wait again, it used to be the other way around which made sense, no option to download games and watch offline, so many recaps right now that they can’t even make one right is all filled with time outs and then the actual game is cut out of the recap and even the way they fitted everything in the screen is hard to interact with it. Massively dissapointed, last year it was a descent product I don’t know why you made such a big change and literally mess up everything and I think seriously this is the first time I will ask for a refund of my league pass since is impossible to enjoy the games with this app. Update: I’m giving a one star now after the response from the developer which is a total copy paste and shows that they don’t even read what I wrote. I thought this was they way I could get them to answer since they don’t do it with my emails, but after I saw what they wrote it was even more disappointing. With all the money you get from subscriptions I can’t believe you made a worse product than what we already had, it should be the other way around. Please refund me and cancel my subscription, after 12 years, I’m not interested in using your app anymore.

They made it worse and now you have 30 sec ads. First I bought the 2k edition that came with the league pass, so this review is geared toward my experience using this app my issue is with League Pass not just the App. So at the beginning everything was great, some games would not load on the app annoying right, but when you could watch a game you had a great view, if one stream wasn’t working you could switch streams. Now I have a very limited view of the game, And when I switch from the HORRIBLE mosaic view BAM!!! 30 second ad, which now your missing clutch plays or what have you, additionally they still cut to breaks during the stream so why must we view an ad for a service we paid for so that we can catch every game possible 🤦🏽‍♂️. I feel scammed quite frankly, I will not be renewing and quite frankly a waste of time. Just pay for the sports package on tv literally no benefit to the app other than being able to watch the game at work or traveling. Again my issue is primarily with the League pass Service. 0 stars……also they created fake reviews if you look at the most recent reviews you’ll see the truth.

Can’t open the app after new update. I’ve been using the NBA app since Oct 2022 and I’m a big fan! I love this app. However, I just downloaded the update yesterday and now I can’t open the app. The NBA logo pops up but then it goes right back to my Home Screen. I’ve tried deleting the app and re-downloading it multiple times and I’ve powered down my phone and restarted it. I get the same outcome every time. My software version is 14.4.2. Maybe I’m required to download the latest iOS update? I really don’t want to do that because it will slow my phone down. Let me know if there’s something else I can try. Thanks!

Pretty but not an improvement. I hate that there’s no search or way to find players other than scrolling through the entire list of NBA players. How about at least an a-b-c on the right side? Especially during trade season, I want to look up players quickly & easily as they are added to my teams. I also hate the new player profile. I want to see height, weight, age, previous/college team, season stats on the first page, not click another button & then hunt through a bio to pick out what I was wondering. I’ll just google players in that case. The old layout was nearly perfect for looking up players. Stick with what works. I don’t like the new look of the standings, too much white space & not much to separate headings from teams plus so spread out. I’d like to see as many teams as possible on one screen. It’s the little things. Tighten it up. Maybe one tab for each conference instead of having to scroll through the eastern conference to get to the western.

Overall ok, but needs a lot of work.. Specifically the player profiles. There should be no reason why I click on a player’s name to find out their info and only their picture and one small line of their current stats shows up and the rest is a random ad + huge list of random NBA videos. I liked the old way where it gave you all of their information: height, age, DOB, school, career stats + current stats. etc. I have to click on Advanced Stats, then find their “Profile”. There is nothing “Advanced Stat” about their height and DOB. I should be able to see that information on the first page. I understand putting their advanced stats on a separate page, but there shouldn’t be a 1 inch section dedicated to their whole profile and the rest is an ad and videos . The second biggest thing is searching for a player. Scrolling through an entire list of 400+ NBA players is exhausting.

A Request From a Blind Fan. The modern version of the app has taken a huge step forward from an accessibility viewpoint. A couple requests. One, can you make it easier to get out of the banner things that some times come on screen that are not easy to get out of using voiceover on my phone. The other night there was some pick game and it was very hard to get away from that to other app controls. Also, when alerts come in, can you associate them with a tone alert, currently no sound alert plays when an NBA app notification comes through via iOS. Thank you.

A step in the right direction.... I feel like the devs for this app have grand ideas that are either being bottlenecked or overridden by execs. I like the new UI, but it seems like it’s trying to glitz and glamor us when all we really want is access to data and analytics. The single item I used the most, written recaps of each game published by the Associated Press every night a few hours after the games end, seems to be missing in favor of video recaps. Call me a boomer but I don’t want to watch a video to know how a game unfolded. If I want to see a play or an injury or a highlight, I’ll go look for it elsewhere in the app. Overall, the app performs admirably on my iPhone XS, and seems to be less buggy overall, but there are clear issues that need to be addressed (why do I have to scroll through the entire league of players to access Westbrook’s stats?) and a more cohesive index of the plethora of content needs to be readily available on start-up. And PLEASE tell me whoever was responsible for copy-pasting the AP recaps wasn’t fired or deemed unnecessary; I’m not kidding when I say those recaps were 90% of the reason I open the app every morning. :/

Terrible UI. It seems the nba app team forgot the reason an app exists in the first place, to display information to a user. There are so many icons and graphics, it’s impossible for your eye to focus and settle in one place. Why does each piece of information need to look like a basketball card? I say this as a developer, please tell the pms and designers that it’s ok to not use every visual element invented. You don’t get extra points for using them all. If you just scroll down to the stories section, you can see a prime example of the problems. Each story has the word “new” graphic on it, a stylized basketball card design with graphic text of all colors, font weights and sizes. Even if the graphic text was important, it’s impossible to read. Just look at the one labeled “New York Legacies” for “A Conversation with Julius Randle”. The actual information that I need to read is only 15% of the “card”. And that is being generous.

Great App, but…. Love this app, but it could be better. Last year there was a download feature that I loved but they removed it. If this could be brought back, I would love that. But also, the cost to actually watch games is super high unless you bought the pass the year before. It’s not worth it to just buy one game, especially if you’re a big NBA fan like me. So you’ll probably want the league pass to watch all the games. The league pass is $250 if I remember correctly. I understand why they might put it so high, but if you’re going to give a lower price to people who bought the league pass, at least give others the chance at a lower priced league pass.

Many games are inaccessible or blacked out. With League Pass one would expect you can access all games in the season and also be able to split screen to watch multiple games at once on the app like you can online. Neither of these are true. You pay $100+ to only access a few games and can’t watch on split screen when multiple are playing at once. Would be much better if you actually had a pass to the whole league without blackouts of any games. Also, the app constantly glitches out and audio goes to commercial sounds when the game is on causing a need to restart the app and the game. The games also switch views and have no consistency in what is being shown, sometimes it’s just a random upper level camera and other times it’s on court cameras during timeouts and halftime. Sometimes it starts showing you the halftime show then in the middle cuts out to an upper level camera and no audio. This is the worst app. Maybe worth mentioning this is the AppleTV version of the app but regardless it’s terrible.

Hope they fix this before the season starts! Please!. I’m not sure why the app changed so much since last season, but so far, they are off to a horrible start. First of all, when I select a game (on AppleTV) it won’t let me go into the game before it starts. That’s fine. But after the game starts, I’m still stuck on the “Play Live” screen for several minutes before that button does anything. Basically, it’s after the “Start from beginning” button shows up. But either way, the game has been on a few minutes before I can start watching. Second, once I finally get into the game, I had to find the almost hidden button to change the audio feed from the opponent feed to my team. Each time! If I pop out and come back it, gotta select it again! Let me save a preference. Or just put it back how it was last year when you simply make the selection when you’re going into the game. Don’t me me find the tiny button and pick the audio each time. On the bright side, the video quality looks good so far. No pixelization or buffering so far. But please fix the other things!

I would advise against registering your credit card. Bad experience 2 seasons in a row.. Last year I was charged at least twice. I paid for premium and it was supposed to have been commercial free. That would have been nice but there were commerals every time I watched. This year they were going to charge my credit card $525. I caught it before the automatic renewal date and canceled. Then last week they emailed a Cyber Monday deal for $49 for the season. I signed up. I just got a notice I needed to update the credit card. Oh by the way it was for more than I had agreed to. Other things that make it not worth it are your have to sign in about 50 times over the season. Not like other streaming services. You turn on your TV and are prompted to sign in. No option to verify on a internet device. You have to enter your email and password with your tv remote each time. The one thing that was disclosed is you cant watch your home team or any in neighboring markets for 3 days. That doesn’t sound as bad as it is when you cant watch the game.

Lots of neat stuff. Blackouts are the worst!. I love watching the NBA. Something happens every 24 seconds! The sport is both fun to play and to watch. But, when it comes to the app, the NBA has to give disclosure. How many of the 83 games a season can you actually watch in the app? Just saying “Subject to Blackout!”, if the answer were only 10 out of 83, would you mind? Would you pay $99 to get just 10 games. They’ve added so many features, so many of their own ads clutter the screens… then they add 3rd party ads. To fuel the third party ads, they then sell everything they can glean about you to several dozen data brokers. Then, unlike thousands of similar companies that do the same, instead of allowing you to easily switch off those data brokers, they give you a list of them and say, “Give them a call or write them a letter and see what their privacy policy is!” NBA, you can do better than that! I would pay a couple of times a year to remove those ads. Please be loyal to your players, your broadcasters and your fans!

Good, but I miss the old layout. Hear me out, this new update is mostly good. The Stories feature is really nifty, the videos play without trouble, and it’s easy to access content and interviews from the league. But the thing I used the old app for the most was checking box scores of games the next morning. And that’s my issue. This is my main complaint: When looking at the box scores, I find it really difficult to digest any of the stats. There is a ton of white space spreading everything apart, making it impossible to get a full box score without scrolling and swiping multiple times. There are also no separation lines drawn between categories or players. The box score viewer is clunky, I’ve accidentally swiped it down and hidden it a dozen times when I meant to swipe right to see stats like BLK and FGA. The old box scores seemed to be sorted by position, but now it’s sorted by minutes played. That tends to confuse my brain while quickly flipping through the games to see how players did. I would like an option to choose how to sort. I’d like to see the box score feature become more streamlined and like the old app in that manner. Overall, it’s a great app. I hope this feedback can be used.

Disregards your notification preferences. I’ve tried working with their support team; however, there is no way to not receive solely personal team notifications. You WILL receive breaking news and nba general news — regardless of it being toggled on or off. This is frustrating when notifications come in at all times of the night (some at 1:30am) and for teams to whom you are not even following or subscribed. Again, tried working with tech support but after three straight weeks of multiple emails a day asking me to provide personal and regional IP addresses, app version numbers, uninstalling and reinstalling the app — I decided that it was simply not in their hands to decide/determine what notifications I would receive. No one was rude with tech support but spent over three weeks walking me through WILD remedies and ideas why I was getting breaking updates and general updates while being unsubscribed to them.

Horrible horrible horrible. Living in a small town this app is a total rip off. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! You will be subject to ridiculous blackout terms regardless. I paid for premium package at 279$ and can’t watch my team play if they are playing against the blazers, warriors or kings even though I’m over 5 hours away from all those teams by car. Local blackoout my left foot! Imagine them blackingnout the sizers, nets, Celtics and knocks if I lived in day jersey city. Tried to get a refund but as I paid through Appletv I cannot. Feel cheated and ripped off. Were I able to open a class action suit against rural bias I would, but alas we’re not all millionaires. NBA is responsible regardless of what they claim. It’s their league. Their games. Their contracts. So unbelievably dissatisfied with this service. Contact me NBA. You have my info. What a total rip off. Can’t watch my team in over 15% of their games even though I paid for “All games. All teams” If I could give zero stars I would.

Piece of crap. Avoid. I have been trying to use and like this app for a while now. I've been in touch with the developers about many of the bugs I found. But it is still probably the worst app that I use. Perhaps it works well on a phone, but on my iPad Pro, this app is a total piece of crap. I cannot use it in landscape mode, because the text of all the articles runs off the page to the right. On the main page of the app, every time I try scrolling to a story and stop somewhere, the app just skips ahead to some random spot. And now, where they have game updates at the top, and you can scroll sideways, it always jumps back to the first one as I try to scroll. I can't understand how this app gets good reviews from anybody that actually uses it for anything other than watching a game. It is so disappointing. If this app was the only basketball resource available to me, or if it was the one recommended to me, and I was trying to learn about basketball and become a fan, I probably would have switched sports by now. That's how bad this is. I would give it a negative rating if I could, but one star is the lowest it will go.

Tech very glitchy. All summer I’ve been going back through to watch archived Cavaliers games. And all summer I’ve had issues with streaming through airplay. First of all, it’s ridiculous that I have to stream airplay through my phone in order to watch the games, rather than just making the app available on my TV to stream directly there. I paid for a subscription through Xfinity and for some reason this is the only way to watch archived games. Every time I stream within 20 minutes it starts glitching and cutting out. I then shut the app down and open back up only to find I have to log back into my Xfinity app, even though it’s supposed to remember my information. Then the app no longer wants to recognize my login information so then I have to shut my phone down completely and then start the whole process all over again. If there was any other way to watch my Cavaliers games, I would definitely drop this app.

Great when it's working. I have used the NBA app to stream games for years and never experienced the issues I'm currently having. I use a brand new apple tv device and an iPhone 13 pro max for watching games. The apple tv device logs you out of your TV provider every time you get out of the app and stops streaming completely. I try to log back in from my phone or computer and it doesn't work. I have to remove the app, reinstall it and go through the entire setup process for it to work. The next day the same exact problem occurs. I got sick of that process so I'll just stream it from my phone and airplay it to my TV. It will stream for a short time and crash. All I get is a blank screen and have to restart the process again. Please get this bug fixed because I can't be the only person experiencing the same issue.

App only good if you pay NBA directly.. I pay for league pass though my cable provider and year after year I have issues with the app. If I want to watch any game this season I have to press the watch button over 6 times before it will let me watch the game. I am greeted with an error message that says the video can not be played. I pay through my provider because I usually watch at home but traveling with the app I may as well not try. I have friends that pay NBA direct and they have no issues with the app at all. I wonder why? It’s beyond frustrating that the app or their ecosystem hasn’t been more well integrated for those who use a cable provider. You are still getting paid please fix this. It’s Beyond frustrating especially for a loyal consumer of your product. I can imagine there are quite a few others with my issue. This would mark the 4 year with the same issue. Also I understand that you have blackout issues but is there no way to integrate local network sign in so that I don’t have to leave league pass app?

Unusable. This app used to be pretty decent but the new redesign has made it nearly unusable. The biggest issue to me is the live player stats during a game rarely actually populate. Most of the time the box score is filled with 0s and each player has a “DNP” in the minutes. When the player stays do show, it’s hard to scroll horizontally and vertically to see them because the header with the game logo/overview expands and collapses seemingly at random. It’s very difficult to even long-press on the scroll bar to try to work around the issue. The scroll bar also seems to go behind the bench “MIN PTS REB” header which looks pretty glitchy. Another annoying bug is when I pull to refresh on the games list the scroll indicator shows over the table during the refresh instead of keeping the table inset during the refresh. Not sure what’s so hard about quality testing these features before shipping them. I have to use the ESPN app now which is not ideal.

Missing Basic Functions. After sending an email to support and getting no help, I’m hoping a review may get a better response. I am stunned that I have to ask for this, but wouldn’t you think if the app crashed that you would be able to pickup where you left off or at least be able to fast forward. Who wants to have to fast forward 10 seconds at a time when the app crashes at half time. I tried using the app on my iPhone and using the time bar to fast forward but that did not work - just kept starting over. Am I missing how to do this? If the app didn’t crash on my phone or Apple TV every game, it might not matter as much. I am on the latest versions of iOS and the NBA app - before the developers ask and tell me that should resolve my issues.

New update has major bugs on Apple TV!. Update: Your app is broken on Apple TV! Can’t even scroll or navigate using the remote half the time. Airplay is also broken on the iPhone app. Can not AirPlay to Apple TV. I love this app, use almost every day, however the new update has some pretty big bugs on Apple TV. Firstly, the different types of game edits that are available on iOS and used to be available on Apple TV are no longer available from the watch game menu. Only the 2min and full game. Where’s the 10min edit gone? Also, the ability to skip 10 seconds at a time is gone! Now you have to click and scroll to jump forward or back, very clunky. Please bring back the 10 sec skip feature! Also when you watch a game or press pause and play again, the control overly stays on for 2 or 3 x longer than it used to. It’s super annoying because the white play progress bar hides the score & again it just feels really clunky and outdated. If you guys can fix theses issues it’ll make the app so much better! Thanks for listening!

Terrible Update - Fix it Now Please !!!!!. Can no longer use my Apple TV 3.0 which is my main viewing Apple TV. When the app does work , the video eventually falls out of sync with the sound. The app struggles to mirror or cast reliably. Chromecast doesn’t work. When the App does work, when you skip ahead or rewind gameplay it is slow and cumbersome (I have tested my internet speed and this is not the issue). You are forced to update the app in order to watch games and if it is this buggy and crappy why would I want to? Fix it immediately!! As a paying customer this is unacceptable!! I just want to watch games again. I wouldn’t even rate this one star but I have to. Overall, A very frustrating, bug-ridden app that has serious reliability issues. It worked best in 2017 and has been downhill ever since.

New app extremely buggy!. I’ve been a subscriber and user of the NBA App for well over ten years. The previous app wasn’t the prettiest, but it functioned well and did it’s job. The update has real problems on iphone, iPad and Apple TV including: -streams crashing on their own, -not being able to play recaps (it crashes the app on all platforms) - not being able to Airplay from iphone or iPad to Apple TV without keeping them awake (leaving the app screen or if the device goes to sleep stops the stream in the background) -can’t change streams without restarting the app Hopefully the developers are reading the reviews and working on bug fixes so we can have a functioning app before the season ramps up, but at this stage I’d have to give the new app 1 star. If it’s not fixed soon, I’ll be requesting a refund. Edit (10 November): Still having problems with auto lock and crashing if the app. Developers, can you please look into the issue with streaming airplay from iOS and the stream stopping when the phone auto locks? The previous app allowed the streaming to continue in the background when the phone or iPad were locked and this is a basic and essential function! Edit (24 December): 2 months later and none of this has been fixed. Wake up developers! Why can’t we skip forward more than two seconds when watching on Apple TV? It makes trying to watch replays unbearable!

Looks better, but is much worse. I don’t mind the new update as it makes the app look much better, however the functionality is much worse. This also seems consistent with the nba website. Firstly, logging into my nba account is far too difficult due to the constant freezing. I have to constantly close and reopen the app and webpage just so I can access my account. Secondly, the video player is much worse. I’ve been a league pass member for 3 years, and have always had problems streaming to chromecast. In the past, it would either play with no sound, audio would be delayed by a few seconds, or it just wouldn’t work at all. These days the chromecast option doesn’t even appear to be there. Furthermore, when I minimise the screen while watching via the app, the option to go full screen again does not appear unless I close the stream and reload it which is rather frustrating, especially during a close game! Finally, the stream in general can sometimes be laggy. This could be due to my internet, however I don’t experience any of these problems when streaming via other platforms. In conclusion, it’s a shame that I have to pay $40 a month for a subpar streaming service. If there was any other option for me to watch every nba game on, I would definitely take that up.

App needs change!!. I have been a frequent user of the app for some time now and it is only getting less tolerable to use. Me and anyone I’ve spoken to don’t like it how highlights from previous games come up straight away as it prevents you from quickly checking stats and can become very frustrating. There is several bugs too which as an example result in the app shutting down. And even when you click on players stats it takes you to another screen that sometimes takes 20 seconds to load. The app needs to be more simple and run way more smoothly if you expect people to continue using it rather than resorting back to other apps that run more smoothly.

One very annoying problem.... I really love the recent update you gave to this app... however there are a couple of really buggy issues that need to be fixed... 1. When I try to open the app it keeps telling me this content is not available in your country or region... so I turn my VPN on to see if it changes anything and nothing changes I try for like 10 minutes straight and I’m still getting the same thing, this issue really needs to be fixed in the next update... however when I tried logging in later in the day it worked... so I’m not sure what was going on, but I think it was some bug.... anyways that was mainly it and also I was trying to purchase a league pass for Aus and I couldn’t seem to find where to buy it online... same issue ‘this content is not available in your country or region.... I hope this issue gets fixed, but overall I am very happy with the new app update!

The new app is terrible. The new NBA application is the worst development I have used in recent years! Constantly crashing, the big guys always have play back errors. Closed captions cant be turned off. You need to click on “watch full game” to access the stream options for highlights or condensed games. Games arent being edited like last season. Yesterday I watched the Nets vs Mavs the game was 4.3 hours long with the game content being around 2.3 hours then the rest of the content after game just rubbish like someone left the “record” function on the stream running. have been waiting for other a month to get a refund so I can upgrade to premium. Customer service is non existent. Top product Adam silver!! David Stern would never stand for this nonsense

Layout is nice but AirPlay support is awful!. I love the refreshed visuals and layout of the app, which definitely makes it easier to navigate all of the content included in my League Pass subscription. However, my biggest issue surrounds AirPlay and my inability to stream games to my TV without my phone remaining in the NBA app. As soon as I leave the app or I lock my phone the stream pauses and cannot be started again, which was a non issue on previous versions of this app. I’m hoping that a fix is in the works because I have gone through all possible troubleshooting to try and address the issue but I think it’s a problem within the app that stops it from functioning correctly with AirPlay devices. As streaming from my phone to my TV is a significant point of the app, it’s super disappointing. If this was fixed the app would be a 5/5!

Really Great App! Few little updates I’d put in the app.. Great App! just a couple little things I’d add is a dark mode feature so if people prefer the dark mode more than the original than they can change it in settings. Also the Quarter by Quarter score in the summary I’d give that a fresh new look and last I’d have how much They won by so for eg. you click on “games” down the bottom of the app and it’s got all the scores there and it’s got the score right there just add below the scores how much they won by. But all round it’s a really great app 👍

The updated app is no good. A number of reviews have already described the issues with the new app. The app crashes for me when I press the For You tab, AirPlay is flakey and requires the device to not lock, starting a stream is painful. I can’t figure out if I go into a game the stream starts on its own because the buffering / spinning symbol appears but it takes so long to appear that I just start pressing things. Have to wait until it starts streaming something before I can select which stream I want (eg 10 min condensed game). I have no idea where the 2 min game recaps are either. Previous app was so much quicker to do what I wanted and more intuitive. This one is “pretty” but just bad user experience and slow. Please read these reviews, start doing some better testing and acknowledge when you are going to fix these issues. I love the NBA league pass and have had it for years. It’s been rock solid until this app update.

Can’t get the basics right. I’ve used this app multiple times a week for years. Microsoft sent it backwards last year and it hasn’t improved. Basic stuff it fails: - Hitting “watch live” on Apple TV will play two audio tracks of the game *unless* you wait a while for the slow-loading live preview (which I don’t want) starts playing. - Changing from one game to another will randomly play audio from both games. - Leaving one game to the menu will sometimes continue playing audio from the game, forcing you to kill the app. - Poor UI on Apple TV: it’s incredibly hard to know what’s selected because of low-contrast hover states. - No box scores on Apple TV (which the app used to have). - Can’t choose your preferred broadcast before hitting play (you used to be able to). - Crashes semi-regularly during games. - Can’t watch game recaps in full screen on iPads: the app loads the vid in a module and tapping ‘full screen’ just fills that module. - Most of the app is still just a web-wrapper. - If you watch a replay of the game, it defaults to ‘key highlights’ and swapping broadcasts is convoluted. I assumed Microsoft started from scratch because of tech debt and that doing so would lead to a better experience overall over time. That hasn’t been true so far, if you’re mostly interested in watching games (and pay a premium to do so). They’ve added a lot of guff to juice engagement rates, though. So I’m guessing a product owner somewhere is happy.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. I subscribe to Nuggets streams. Let’s start with the fact the app doesn’t work. On iPhone, you cannot see any game stats at all. As a basketball fan, that’s part of the fan experience but the app developers don’t see that as important. I am also logged out all the time and there are other buggy things like that. Now, let’s move on to app support. I’ve registered my concerns about a few bugs and have waited patiently for the box score to reappear but this is how it works: - they ask you for detail on your concern and you spend time explaining it. - they then ask you to ensure that you have the latest app by asking you to deletes, reinstall and restart your phone. - you then message and say that nothing has changed. - you get a different app support person who asks you to reinstall and ensure that you have the latest version. - you then explain that you’ve done that. - you get told that they recognise the problem and that their app support is working on it. - this has been going since at least the beginning of the season

League Pass Is Trash This Season.. The developers know the quality is far worse this year than previous years and for them to state that it’s reimagined and improved is a slap in the face to customers like me who have diligently auto-renewed their subscription for going on 10 years. Not even a week into the season and I’m going through the channels to get a refund. It’s actually turned me off the game I love. Thanks NBA. P.s. you’re lucky the app store keeps all the ratings from past years when the quality was worth top dollar, because I guarantee since the start of the season when customers realise they’ve been duped, the rating would go from 4 1/2 stars to 2 stars maximum. 👎🏽

Would rate zero if that was possible. So much worse than the old app. On Xbox it flat out doesn’t work, on iPhone it doesn’t stream, buttons are too small and have less options than in past years, chrome casting is unwatchable. Not a connection issue as literally every other streaming service is perfect in 4K every time. But not this rubbish. How is it possible to take something that worked and completely destroy it? The app doesn’t need to look pretty, it just needs to work. It could be in black and white for all I care, I just want to watch basketball. And this app, whose sole reason for existence should be to facilitate that, actually makes it near impossible. Good work nba, good work Microsoft. Way to grow your brand. Not.

Chromecast, AirPlay and Xbox app are in shambles. Nba apps on my phone and Xbox are having constant issues. All I can find is vanilla posts from support team that refer to trouble shooting where I can’t find the answers I need. These problems shouldn’t last more than a couple of days and it feels like the nba just want to take my money every year and not make any effort to enhance the experience of being a fan. I pay for league pass because I love this game and want to watch it all the time but the user experience I have is consistently awful. Please do something to address this you have untapped funding and resources and should be motivated to provide the best user experience and it really comes across like the company doesn’t care about it at all.

Who the hell keeps messing with this app. This app was fine, every time there’s an update it asks me to sign in? I’m signed in at the top! Then asks me to choose which subscription I want to purchase but no option to choose my already purchased account. Whoever is getting paid to mess with this app is ruining the experience. I’ve tried everything to watch a and even choosing to repurchase and then it says you have already purchased but no option to continue with my already signed in account. This is a joke. Stop messing with something that worked fine. If it’s not broken don’t fix it!

I love watching the NBA, but I think this is my last year.. It's becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy the app with 80% of the games being pixelated, making it hard to focus on the ball when it's so fuzzy. The quality occasionally flickers to a good level before degrading again. It doesn't matter if my internet is blazing fast, if I'm on 5G, or if I restart the app. The quality is generally quite poor. The TV app has deteriorated since the latest updates, making scrolling more difficult. I've been eagerly awaiting offline mode for iPhone so that I can AirPlay with guaranteed quality, but at this rate, I can't see it happening despite their claims. The issue persists across iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV. 😡 It's very frustrating when you're paying for an expensive service. It's not like I'm trying to stream 4K, the max quality seems to be 1080p though from what I’m watching it’s generally 360p. Maybe it’s because I live in Australia and there are no dedicated servers here?

AMAZING app, but just one small request.... Perfect app for streaming the NBA live and on-demand. Great for keeping up-to-date with the latest news and players best moments. The only thing is that sometimes I want to know why a player is out and when he comes back, so having a ‘injury status’ tab for injured players in the ‘More’ section would be helpful and much more convenient rather than having to surf the web to find out. Other than that suggestion, the app is smooth, and definitely worth your download if you’re into the NBA.

Truly awful. Almost everything is wrong with the new app. Trying to use it on my phone and cast to my tv simply does not work. Using the app via PlayStation seems slightly less awful. It glitches, freezes and lags constantly for no apparent reason. It doesn’t consistently keep “no spoilers” on. They’ve removed the option to control video quality. The game stream options are just bizarre (eg double ups) and it’s seemingly random which ones have the breaks cropped out for better replay viewing (And they crop out segments of live play in the full-game replay which has never happened in previous years). I’m used to there being problems with league pass but this is just unbelievable.

Less Features- Getting Worse. Read the recent comments as of Oct 2023 they are quite poor! We work and live in Asia and have had League Pass- Australia primarily using Apple TV and IPad combo for a few years now but the quality and the basics are getting worse. Problem starts with the terrible streaming quality, extremely slow and likely to crash. We would download games and cast them to the tv just to improve the video quality and reliability; however the offline download seems to have disappeared… casting was spotty at times, but managed. Looking for another work around. Season just started and won’t be able to stand the blocky, stuttering for an entire season. If you live anywhere but the states you should probably avoid the NBA app- league pass until the offline games is reinstated and streaming quality is vastly improved. Love the NBA for its progress, updating the rules, in season tournament idea; constantly trying to improve the game. Put the same effort into the app and League Pass.

Sort it out. We all paid good money for access to NBA games and we’re getting a shoddy service that makes it very difficult and sometimes impossible to do so. I’ve just tried watching the lakers game and when I select “watch full game” it only shows me 10 minutes of highlights. I want to watch the full game so why can’t I? The hide score option does hide the scores on the game tiles, but what’s the point of that setting when you have headlines telling us the result of the games plastered all over the home page. I might not know the score of the game but I know that Donovan Mitchell had 38 points and the Cavs won, so that’s for that almost pointless feature. The old app was great, but this new one is seriously lacking in usability and it’s like the developers didn’t put any thought into the user experience. If you want to know what to do, just look at how the old app worked and do that.

Why does a paid subscriber have to watch adverts?. I have been a paid subscriber to NBA League Pass for for nearly 10 yrs. Can not fault it, have been a huge fan. However recently I now have to watch nearly 40s of advertisement videos/material before watching any past content like replays, highlights etc. I would have assumed a paid subscriber would negate advertising like this? However if this is now the NBA’s plan moving forward, I would imagine subscription fees to reduce for users like myself as they would be making quite a good deal of revenue with this new venture and strategy. Disappointing. Update: I did contact NBA support as suggested via the app, and after nearly a week no response. Adverts for profits over valuing their subscription paying customers it seems.

Did Microsoft develop this mess?. Been using the NBA app for over 4 years now. Who ever developed the previous app, 5 stars to you. But whoever developed the new app, you guys are lucky App Store doesn’t have the option of negative rating. This is probably the worst app I’ve ever used. An absolute hell it terms of functionality and usability. 75% of the time, I get a red bar on top that says a random error has occurred. Why would a user want to see what errors are occurring on the back-end? Why would I want to know which JavaScript error occurred now? Streams on Apple TV crash on their own. Sometimes the app gets stuck and I need to restart it to make it work. Horizontal scrolling is an absolute mess and it tests my patience every single time. Overall the app looks beautiful but most users prefer usability over beauty. Front end 8/10 Back end 0/10 maybe even negative.

Can’t close screening listening to radio. You use to be able to close the screen on the phone whilst listening to the radio broadcast, it was handy and I would appreciate it back Thanks This app is horrible the issue above is annoying as well as the auto play for the league pass as soon as I try and click on a box score, somehow the chrome casting is worse and the audio for the streams works maybe half the time. The old app was near perfect and I can’t understand how you guys can come in a screw it up so much . This is just a review for the app on the phone but the ps5 and website are just as glitchy.

Loving the new app. This app has gotten so good, I use it far more regularly now. I am particularly enjoying the Live Activity feature recently added, makes it super easy to follow live games when I’m not able to watch them. One suggestion - adding the ability to start a Live Activity from a notification (instead of having to go in to the app first). The Sports Alerts app has done this, and it makes it even more convenient.

Chromecast Issues. I am taking the one star i gave you back!! we are almost twenty games into the season.. TWENTY GAMES! You have done nothing to solve the chromecast skipping issue… yet you pump market bs down our throats with every update! Please respond with the exact progress you are making on casting from iphone to chromecast., at least acknowledge that with all your bs marketing updates, you missed this basic and vital component that worked WITHOUT AN ISSUE in the last app. Is this an actual priority to be fixed, be honest about that so i can at least look into a refund, i can not be seriously paying my subscription to be just watching it on an iphone screen.. bs NBA!! BS Microsoft!!

Paid but Can’t Play. I didn’t want to write something bad about league but it seems like they don’t care about their customers I was charged for auto renewal without any warning but was fine since i love watching the nba. When i tried watching pre season games, it kept telling me that i need to pay subscription. I checked my bank account and confirmed that I have been charged. I asked for help with their chat support but they keep me going around in circles. Some even lied to me just to get rid of me. One agent said i cant watch pre season games and would be alright when the season starts. I have given them all my information many times but no one seems to know what to do. They said that it’s been passed to Tier 2 but still not resolved , then no communication. If you don’t chat with them, they won’t follow up your problem. It’s been 15 days now and still can’t watch any games. I wanted to watch the opening games but still nba is saying I need to pay subscription. Causing me a lot of mental stress. Literally talked to more than 15 chat support agents but no solution. Big company but terrible service. I give up.

Update. I have really enjoyed this app over the last couple of years but the new update is terrible compared to what it was. Every single stream is really low quality and not enjoyable to watch and I can’t get the box scores for games as the screen doesn’t work when I click on box score. I am only able to watch games when I turn my phone sideways, and the games never go from live, they always go back to the very start. Can these things please be fixed as I have paid a lot of money to be able to view and watch basketball games! Thank you

Only response to bugs is have you tried reinstalling? Really?. I have submitted feedback and so have many others and the only response please uninstall and reinstall. Well doesn’t help, can’t cast, can’t watch on my phone, can’t put it on Apple TV without constant subtitles (that are out of time) or it being buggy as hell. Come on, respect your consumers and have a look at what is wrong and let us know when we can expect something to be done about it. Poor form for two of the MOST profitable companies in the world to put such garbage out in a partnership. Microsoft literally have TEST tools to validate this software development…. Seriously disappointed. Issues are still persisting….

Does not work. App just simply does not work. Trying to watch via Apple AirPlay or Chromecast and both will just disconnect within 15 minutes of a game and the app crashes. No point restarting the app because connecting and trying again just involves the same heartbreak. Waste of time and waste of money for a league pass subscription that I can’t even get to halftime of a game. Contacted support and their response was a generic uninstall then install reply, which I did, and nothing changed. I have a tiny feeling this has nothing to do with my devices (tried multiple) and everything to do with this terrible app.

Would give 5 stars, but…. As I said in the heading, I would give 5 stars, instead I’ve dropped it to 3 due to one major factor. Like many others I use my chromecast to watch the games on my TV… but every time I do, after about 20 minutes it stalls and “loading” appears. And won’t disappear unless I disconnect the casting, and reconnect it. Which takes a little effort and missing of game time. Sometimes the audio is also not in sync with the video. It does not do this when watching directly from my phone or iPad. Only when casting. I have hardwired the chromecast to my router, I have reset it, I have tested with casting other apps which all work fine. So elimination clearly shows it’s this app. Please please PLEASE fix this.

Frustrating app. I have never left a review before in my life. But the poor design, functionality, little effort put into this app inspired me to write one. I pay a large amount of money yearly to use this app. It rarely works as intended, low quality poor feeds are normal. The game often freezes even when streamed with fibre internet. In an effort to (I assume) prevent account sharing. I now have to sign in on my phone and tv each time I switch between them. Re-authenticating this app multiple times a day is beyond annoying. During game breaks this extremely profitable business often provides no entertainment, discussion, or anything beyond a blue screen that says ‘Game Break’. This app isn’t even compatible with some major tv brands (Samsung). The app cannot even distinguish which country you are in. Therefore, it will not display games on correct days. Checking the box score on my phone will immediately stop a game playing on my tv. There is no option to just view the box score, you must pause the video quickly enough and hope it doesn’t impact your viewing. The combination of greed, low quality service, and uninspired efforts to make this app useful have resulted in my decision to never buy game pass again. As a customer for over a decade and an avid NBA fan I am disappointed.

Get rid of the ads and get design team equal to engineers. It’s just getting worse. Cherry on top is this debacle of not letting the paying customers to watch the game with a wrong message “the game is broadcasted on a local channel” - when there is no local broadcast. What will you do to correct your mistake? Also - your ads still break the app. Get rid of them Ok, the new partnership with microsoft is there, but you put all the focus on the backend, whilst completely forgot what you should be all about - customer experience. This app is a result when engineers take over, but still far from finished product. 1. Performance - terribly slow and unresponsive, airplay function is bad 2. Ads - stop it. You don’t need this revenue, remove this target from your product team. Your app is a utility, yes it has content, but it is very different engagement, you don’t run a news site or channel that lives off ads. Or at very least you could give a decency to your paying members to not see the ads 4. Box score - always been a pain point for this app, with or without MS. Laggy, inaccurate, data missing, forget about flipping to landscape mode, and now throw in auto play content and ads - it’s one of the worst app user experiences made. Just please get more customer centric, design background leadership to make this product truly worthy of nba

Error, Id:SOURCE_HLS_STREAM_ERROR, auto: undefined. I have this app downloaded on my PS5 and I’m constantly having issues with it. The amount of times I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall just to fix it is ridiculous. Whilst watching a game, it will often just freeze and come up with this error message when you try and reload the game. No matter what I do, it doesn’t seem to fix it. On top of that, it quite often decides to just go back to the main menu mid game and you have to try and sign in again, quite often just sitting there loading and does nothing. This app used to be awesome, now it’s so buggy and filled with ads even though you pay for the pass. No options to report issues inside the app or even contact for help

Frustrating and buggy. Despite the frequent updates, the app is still plagued by problems and is a worse product then we had a few years ago. Try to switch audio streams and you often get the old and new audio playing over each other. Exit the game and the original audio is still playing. Start watching a completely different game and the original audio from the first game is still playing! If you can successfully switch the audio, it usually takes you back to the start of the game. We used to get a full box score for every game, now we just get cut down stats for the players on the court. Even then, the whole game pauses when you bring up the stats. Surely a full box score is the bare minimum for a sports app. This is the most expensive app I have and also by far the worst performing. Surely the NBA can do better? Watching (or trying to) on an Apple TV.

Very disappointing changes from last year. I’ve been a league pass season subscriber for the last 6 years in a row and have very rarely had issues with watching games on multiple devices such as my phone, TV and laptop. However this year I’ve been plagued by many issues which are a direct result of the app design itself and nothing to do with anything on my end. Some issues include: - Closed captions appear on screen at all times while trying to watch a game and there is no way I can get them to stop appearing. - There is no option for me to change the bitrate/stream quality. This has been removed from last year for no apparent reason - On iPhone Max I cannot pinch to zoom and extend the video to full screen. Again I was able to do this last season and it baffles me why I cannot do it this year - Have also had issues with chromecasting stream to TV, issues that I did not have at any time in the last 6 years. I’m pretty annoyed to be honest, despite some flaws in the broadcasting over recent years I never had any issues with the app itself working, but this season is a completely different story. Basic things better be fixed big time before the regular season starts or I will be cancelling and demanding a refund for this poor product.

Disappointed. I pay for the pass every year and have for many years as an Australian and never has it been so difficult to watch games when we pay such big money to watch this sport. First 3x weeks of the season I couldn’t watch it cause it wasn’t available. Now I’m watching the 3rd game this season in Spanish cause it’s the only stream available. It used to be so easy. Open the app watch a game. Now I’m bombarded with all these things I don’t want to see and with easy click spoilers that I’m just flat out disappointed. Love the sport, hope the app improves or there is another format I can possible watch the game through in Australia but most likely not. Frustrating really.

New 22-23 version. No go. The previous app was 5/5, it was getting better each time (updates). The new app… where to start… messy, slow, constantly bugging. It does look good, but nowhere near the UX of the previous model. This is not a user-friendly app anymore, too many features, buttons, imagery, videos, highlights, everywhere…it’s so busy. The previous app was sleek and effective, I don’t know one person who complained about it, we all loved it, now all my friends and I are not even using the app no more. This new app is designed for millennials, for scrolling and scrolling and scrolling, it doesn’t even do a good job at streaming, constantly bugging and so slow to start although I have the fastest connection available and have no similar problems with any other streaming app. As an NBA fan since 1987, that new app is honestly losing all my attention to the game.

Recent changes make the app really inconsistent?. I don’t know what changed in the last month, but it’s become so difficult to scroll through players stats when looking at the games. It often doesn’t let me scroll all the way across to see FG%, PF’s, TO’s etc. additionally it doesn’t easily let me scroll downward either to see more than 5-6 players who have played in a game. Also, why would you reset the screen rotation, to normal portrait when the phone is upside down? If the game is being watched in landscape, whilst also being on the top-side screen facing downward, the app simply just resets to portrait mode (normal side up) - which then becomes upside down. The example would be lying in bed, lying on my side watching the game in landscape, and also the top of my phone being upside down, and the app forces the game to rotate to normal portrait mode - so annoying!

It takes so long to change between games and also to fast forward. I’ve had it freeze on me so many times or sometimes it just won’t play. I’ve updated my iPhone, iPad & Apple TV and it’s still the same. I did not have this problem on the old version. This new version should have been fully tested before the season started and not during. I also sometimes can’t watch live streams. Instead, it starts it from the beginning. I find the problem is when it automatically starts playing, it won’t let you adjust the settings after. There should be an option to choose which streaming network you prefer to watch and where in the game you would like to start watching before it actually plays. Before, it was so easy to choose between watching the live stream, watching the full game or watching a short or long highlight video. Now, these options are no longer available. Could you please fix this asap? I’m missing out on watching the beginning of this season. Thanks.

Trash, Terrible Chromecast Playback. Unable to cast previous games via Google Chromecast, the quality is shocking like we are in the year 2000 and using dial up internet still, it will stop and start every few seconds and then randomly the game freezes and starts from the beginning??? This is seriously unacceptable and an outright joke….. for the amount I pay for league pass, I expect this simply to just work with all it's functions; especially from an organisation that has and makes so much money $$$$$ I have never had this issue with ANY other app for streaming. This is the second time I have experienced this, the first time I complained to you on Twitter and the issue seemed to get rectified. I haven’t been able to catch a live game recently to cast to see if this issue happens but I am assuming if this was the case you would have millions of people complaining already…. FIX THIS ASAP. ACCEPTABLE.

This content is unavailable to watch in your region 😠. This is the message I’m getting on my screen for the past 2 days. Except I have a premium subscription. And it doesn’t even make sense, it’s completely inconsistent, eg yesterday it wouldn’t let me watch the Spurs game but there was no problem with viewing the 76ers. Today I want to watch Warriors, and the app says no, but I can watch Mavs v Nuggets. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, that made no difference. I’ve been generally happy with this app for the past few years but considering the cost of the subscription, being unable to access content that I have paid for is just not good enough.

Don’t love the new features. I find the app more difficult to use these days than what we’ve had in the past. When clicking on a game to checkbox scores, the game generally starts playing automatically, which I don’t want to occur. If I don’t have the time to watch games live, I’d like to catch up on the game summary in the evening, which is often hard to find or not available when watching usingTelevision device, I often find it hard to play the game from live, as often the game will automatically revert to the beginning of the game. In the event that Microsoft can iron out these issues, I’m sure I would enjoy the app much more.

Poor product from a multi-billion dollar company. It’s comical how poor this app operates. The player is disastrous and often can’t play a game start to finish without needing restarting, fast forwarding is asking for the player to bust etc etc. Condensed games are edited cutting off key plays, rarely show replays of key events, doesn’t show technical fouls or other similar things so just randomly cuts to someone shooting free throws. Usually things you can look past, but considering the NBA makes billions of dollars AND the NFL has a product the same as this that operates much better it’s just not acceptable to have an app that runs this badly when streaming is so popular nowadays.

Recent update is confusing. I always loved the nba app and my ability to keep up to date with news and watch live games on it through league pass. Every now and again, the app goes through a big update that changes the design and some functionalities. This last update though has lead to some weird issues such as subtitles always showing up when I’m trying to watch a game even when I don’t have them selected, not being able to scroll through games because unloaded ads are making it confusing and jumpy and there’s a couple other things that are mentioned in other reviews. I expect this stuff will be fixed though, then my rating goes back up to 5 star.

If there was no stars I’d rate this as that.. URGENT UPDATE NEEDED Across all of my devices using wifi or using mobile data the streams do not work 80% of the time. The stream starts from the start on a live game and will not go to live. Sometimes if you change to a different stream it works but most of the time the only way to watch a game is to delete the whole app and re-download it. Being over 200mb it isn’t great using 10gb of data over the month just purely downloading the app due to not being able to watch any games. I have an iPhone 13 PRO MAX an iPad Air and an iPhone 10 all having same problems. Please fix, has happened ever since this seasons preseason started it is infuriating.

Some bugs to fix. Love the app and use everyday but it has some major bugs that occur all the time. After a game has been played and I try to watch the full replay shortly after it has finished the timeline bar will not let me skip to a certain point in the game as it says I’m at 476,000,000 —— 1:10 minutes (I’m assuming that happens when games ads are being cut out before polished version is released) The app sometimes when going into pip mode will infinitely load or will load picture and play for a few second then close pip mode and the game I was watching. Overall performance of the app isn’t amazing in terms of how smooth it is when opening games and tapping the screen to bring up the overlay and skip or pause (sometimes just won’t show up or extremely slow to do so) Great app would just love to see some of the Quality of Life changes made

new update has some issues. I love the new update it looks great and is much easier to get to games and stats. However there is a few problems with the player. There seems to be no support for picture-in-picture which essentially all players supports. Theres no ability to scrub while in a replay which means getting to a moment in the game is next to impossible. I’ve had issues with airplay and the stream stopping. I love the replays with the breaks cut out of them however, I’m finding this year they’re much more frequent. The stream does require a really good connection and can drop out frequently during road trips.

Notifications and spoilers broken. Have used this app for years, the current version has ruined multiple games for me these playoffs and is beyond frustrating. Firstly the notifications the app sends now spoil the results of games, but what's more frustrating is that the app continues to send these notifications even though they are disabled. While watching game 5 of Bucks Heat on delay of about 15 minutes and with notifications disabled, I had a notification with the final result of the game pop over my screen.. Since then I've had the results of other games I planned to watch on delay sent to me (again with notifications disabled in app). I've had to disable all NBA notifications at the ios level to deal with this which is never a good sign. Furthermore, the in app graphics/headlines spoil the results of games even with "hide scores" enabled, such as today when I got "curry 50 point masterclass seals game 7" when I opened the app on ipad to watch that game... Actively ruining the fan experience, this is a broken app until this is resolved

Utter trash. Great they’ve decided to redesign the app. Not so great, they’ve partnered with Microsoft. They seemed to have forgotten the fundamental user expectations: - stream games seamlessly with the ability to cast to tv and other devices - this is so buggy, it’s almost unwatchable. - provide a simple interface that minimises clicks - I still can’t locate how to watch a game recap. To watch a game, I’ve got to click down several layers to choose what I want. “Watch this game > wait for it to start, then select “Featured Streams” > select alternative and wait for viewing to restart - I’ve selected hide scores, which means I DONT WANT TO SEE SCORES ANYWHERE! Why are you showing me game headlines with score lines on the default “For You” page? - your Ratings & Review score is a flat out lie. Sort by most recent and you’ll see - adding all these new features to enhance the user experience is completely wasted if you can’t even watch a game - users do not want to see ads on a paid service - I’d rate this a zero if I could If I were a developer, I’d be embarrassed to be associated with this.

Downloads gone. I used to enjoy downloading games to watch the next day when offline (on a flight, long trip, etc.). Since the last major release two years ago, the download function has been removed and never brought back! Simply unbelievable… Oh and did I mention that even after paying $150 per season, I still have to watch an add about the app EVERY TIME I watch a game recap? Really bad customer experience…

Player stats. Ever since this new season, if i want so see some player's stats, the app sends me to the nba website on the app and most of the times stats aren't showing. Last year it wasn't like that

Great app for out of market games. Great subscription service I often enjoy watching games on this more then on the tv with the interactive scoreboard. Only thing missing is being able to download completed games to be able to watch off of a internet connection

The last updates are terrible. Live matches are not available and constantly start from the beginning, so you need to rewind to live every time. When the match is shown on NBA TV Canada, it is still unavailable, you need to go through a separate tab on NBA TV Canada, but even there the full screen is not turned on.

2022 NOT GOOD AT ALL. This year the app has been kicked me out every 5 minutes. Also it does not save my no spoilers setting each time I open it, looks “nice” but works aweful.

So bad on apple devices. I’m a new league pass subscriber and I’m so disappointed… the app is fine for checking scores and news but as soon as you try to watch a video or a live game the app starts to lag or freeze. Sometimes video player don’t even load or the stream cuts off and restarts from the beginning… What a shame, oh and the blackout thing is a scam… Even if you are willing to pay for a legal way of streaming the games you can’t watch a big part because of the nba greed!

NBA app sucks. Honestly the nba app sucks. Its good to keep updated on information and watch regular season games but the app sucks. Any playoff games are not available if not located in USA. The all star games not available either or not for this region. Save your money tbh

Get rid of forced videos. I try to check the stats of a game and have my entire screen ruined by the forced highlights that I do not care to watch. Cant even listen to music and check this app because it cancels everything and forces a popup highlights screen which ruins the ability to even navigate the app and when you close the app the highlights are still there until you force close it. Needs to be a way to cancel that. This app is absolute garbage now

Please Turn Off Video Autoplay For Box Score Page!!!. All I want to do is look at the box score for each NBA game at the end of the night. When I open a game, the video autoplays and it slows the app down so much it’s stupid. It crashes regularly as well. How is there no way to turn off the auto play? Do the developers even test their app? I wrote in a few months ago and I got a response that was completely irrelevant. The issue is still ongoing 👎👎👎

Very glitchy. Every time I scroll through the live games it glitches and sends me back to the first one. To get to the last game it’s like running suicides.

Can it be 0 stars???. Payed 20 dollars a an app where I assume I can watch all nba games live no matter what but can only watch a handful of horrible games like charlotte hornets and brooklyn nets. Wanted to watch the only decent game on tonight knicks vs Boston and of course it’s blocked on the app cos ya greedy money hungry rat dogs want to leech money off everyone … Dare I mention there’s 5 ads to sit through every 2minutes on a PAAAAAYYYEDDDDD APPPPPP

Waste of money. If you live in Canada do not buy. You cannot watch anything live. They charge you 150$ for nothing. I can watch the full games sure afterwards. Do not waste your money on this please. They renewed my subscription without me noticing, so I got one more year of this hell, but they will never be getting my money again and I will never tell anyone to get this app or pay for this subscription. Multiple annoying glitches. 1. On the Apple TV app, when trying to search for past games by using the calendar and backwards/forwards arrows. I want to start on March 30th and go backwards and forwards to see different games on different days around then. The < button sends me to March 29 correctly, but the > shoots me forward to Sept 30. Then I have to click the calendar and scroll all the way back to March to take a guess on what day the game was I’m looking for. 2. Also Apple TV, why can I only sometimes scroll rewind and fast forward during a game???Half the time I can only rewind/ff 10 seconds at a time, and can’t manually select where in the game to watch. If I force quit and restart, sometimes it works but usually not. SUPER ANNOYING!!!! Please fix!!!!

Much faster. I haven’t used it that much so far but I like this one a lot better than the old one already. With the old one my friends and I would always have a running joke about how it was possibly the worst made app of all time (not because the actual app itself was bad) but just because it had probably the slowest and most aggravating loading screens of all time😂😂. Like if I wasn’t on Wi-Fi and I clicked on the app to open it it would take a good 30 seconds sometimes to just open, this does not happen with the new one which is great.

The old app design was perfect. In terms of the phone app, everything is a lot more messy. The old app greeted you to a simple screen of all the games/scores for the day and was aesthetically pleasing. It’s not a bad redesign but I though the older was cleaner. My biggest gripe is the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a “full game highlights” feature anymore. Your only option is to either watch the full game or a 3 minute highlight with annoying commentary out on top of it. Bring back the full 10 minute king highlights and “every scoring play” videos and I’ll be happy.

Jumpy audio. I have this app only to listen to games on audio pass. The stream is often so jumpy as to make it almost impossible to follow. The audio will jump forward and back, replaying bits from a few seconds ago and then jumping ahead to live again, and then back to repeat the first bit again, then ahead a bit farther, then back to a different point, and so on. It's miserable. Doesn't always do it, but frequently. "Rebound by Smith, he brings it up the fl-looooong three, rattles in and out, rebounded by Smith, he brings it up the floor, passes to-Blocked by Johnson! Oh my, that's -rattles in and out, rebou-loooooooong three that's his second block of the night! He really-and Smith goes to the free throw line to shoot two." This is not an exaggeration.

Buggy and poor customer service. I have YouTubeTV and I pay for NBA league pass on that service. When I try to login into the NBA app to utilize my subscription it gives me an error screen. I messaged customer service, and they after a long wait I get a reply saying it’s might fault, not theirs. However, when I try to login with the same credentials via my web browser, everything works fine. The NBA should not release such a buggy app, I’m not getting what I’m paying for and no real help was offered. You would expect more when you pay for their most premium service. I feel cheated. My recommendation is don’t get league pass because you will get stuck paying $100s of dollars for a service that you won’t be able to utilize via this app.

This App is Trash. I have been an nba league pass subscriber for 10 years through my tv provider Directv. I have always been able to watch games through the app until this year. I am signed in on the app with my directv subscription because you can see the name Directv in the app. When you click next to Directv and the options pop up to share the game or to pick the home or away channel to watch, nothing happens. In the past once you signed in with your tv provider all the games would say watch and you just had to click on watch to see the game. To make matters worse you can’t watch the games at nba..com because when you click on a game it refers you back to the app. When Steph retires I can be done with league pass for good.

Worst app in general.. This app is horrendous. The NBA is a billion dollar company with a cheap app. My phone, my Roku, my Macbook, and iPad all have the app and it’s bad on all of them. Can’t ever load a game. Always have to click, close out, re open, and click on games again to hopefully miss one. I can’t ever catch the end of a close game because it takes 5-10 minutes to pull up a game if it even pulls up. I paid for the whole year and wish I could get my money back and just stream elsewhere. Garbage beyond belief and baffling how bad it is. And developers… please don’t reply to this like the others with your basic replies like: we are sorry for the experience, we appreciate your feedback, we are making changes… like save the crap for real. Unless you actually plan to fix the app, shut up. Wish I could give it 0 stars.

No search and browsing is a joke. Is this not the app to watch Pass the Rock? Can’t find a trace of it. If there’s a search feature I need another search feature to find it. No path to the show through browsing categories so that should tell you how poorly thought out they are. Here’s the really incredible part: when I go to an episode on the website and it gives me the option to watch it in the app, it opens the app but DOESN’T GO TO THE SHOW. For real, did they take the show off? It’s gotta be the right app to watch the show because why would the link on the site open this app otherwise? There better be a sick reward for solving this weird puzzle, like a ring that boosts my dexterity in real life or something.

Convoluted. First, get rid of the 3 second animation of the Larry O’Brien trophy every time you open the app. I just want some scores and I have to wait this darn thing out. Second, I like the home page but they only put on a select few games so you have to delve into the scores section to find more. I’d be nice if they were all there. The whole thing feels convoluted. It’s like those web graphs they’d make you do in school. Everything is just sprawling around everywhere and you have to chase it. I still give four stars because the app works and it has a lot of stuff, I just wish that trophy would go and it felt more fluid in ease.

Needs some improvements. If you sign up, you are a prisoner of the Eastern time zone on a PC. In other words if your game starts at 6:00 PM Pacific time, and you live in the west, you can’t watch it until 9 PM, inexplicably. You cannot change the time zone either on your PC to watch it sooner. If you are watching on an iPad, you will think it’s still halftime, only to discover the third quarter is halfway over because the game doesn’t start for some reason at the beginning of the third quarter. If you select watch live after restarting the app, it wants to start you from the very beginning of the game.

Extremely disappointed. I regret paying. Love being able to watch my team but don’t know why you can’t start a live game from the beginning once it’s started... Apparently, only if you have an Apple TV adapter are you able to start a live game from the beginning. Extremely disappointing that the developers of this app can’t get this resolved. By the time I get home from work, the game is already half way done and I just have to jump in wherever it is currently at... the game replay doesn’t come up until 30+ min after the completion of the game. That’s completely understandable, just not an option that works for me and i definitely will not spend money on a league pass again next year due to this simple issue. Has this been worth the investment... definitely not 👎🏼

Everything An NBA Should Be. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this version of the NBA app so far. I like and appreciate how they’ve incorporated some of the features from other popular apps, so it feels familiar. The app also receives updates fairly frequently for small bug fixes and minor changes. No problem with connectivity (unless it’s me that has the bad connection), and all of my actions have been saved. They packaged together a great app which is why I’m rating the NBA app five stars.

Amazing upgrade. Just a total overhaul. Much needed. My only problem. When trying to check scores from other games (for fantasy purposes). I am unable to view box score without loading/streaming a completely different game yet there are two different tabs labeled “games” and “watch”. I would like to be able to continue to stream my game and be able to check in on other games box scores etc.

Frustrating Rate of Commercials. The rate of commercials are becoming unbearable for a premium service. These commercials will cut into your game and you will miss parts. I just watched 13 ads in less than 30 minutes. These ads will break the immersion the user has in the game and a project manager really needs to examine this addition. It cheapens your app and serves. There are also ads in between listing games. It looks bad. A banner above the bottom menu would look better. On the 10ft experience audio will occasionally fail to sync on the apple 4k. Have a UX designer look at heuristics and usability. It would solve some of your problems.

NO LIVE PLAYOFF GAMES!! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!. I bought the service during first round of 2022 playoffs and to my surprise, I couldn’t stream live games, even tho that is the sole purpose of the app. I call customer service and apparently the NBA sold streaming rights for live playoff games to local and cable programs. The app can only stream games AFTER they have already aired on live television. What is the point of this app?? I cancel my subscription same day and never looked back. Now almost a year later, I get a notification from my bank that this app has continuously charged me for the past year without my authorization. I call the NBA League Pass customer service and to my surprise, they had the nerve to tell me they can only pay me back for the last month. After over an hour of disputing, i get them to pay me back for the entire season but here’s the catch: they don’t have access to last seasons subscription so they cannot refund me for the previous season. I got my bank involved and they are taking over the matter to get my entire refund. I have email confirmations of my canceled subscription and bank statement showing the charges. This app is fraudulent and scandalous. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!

Overall A Great App. For the most part this app is really great, it shows all the scores and does everything it’s supposed to. But whenever I exit out the tab on the “Pick ‘Em” feature, it makes me log back in every time. It’s pretty annoying and other people I know don’t have this problem so it could be my phone, but it’s still a good app and still registers my points as long as the page on the app stays open. I just can’t go to any other places on the app or delete the page.

Worse than last year. Still pretty good value for your money, as between nba tv and league pass you can watch just about every nba game there is (except for your local team frustratingly). However, some key features that were available last year are gone this year. On the iPhone 14 the box score/player stats do not display. There’s a section beneath the game for them, but if you click it, the app glitches and won’t display them. An even bigger loss is the removal of the standings tab from the Apple TV app. Why it’s now gone despite existing last year is beyond me. If the nba app developers bring the standings tab back to the Apple TV app I’d change my rating.

Horrible app. I updated this review to say… nothing has changed. This app is awful. If I could give 1/2 star I would. The old app worked beautifully. Now I can’t even go strait to the streaming option I want. It always starts with full game. Then the commercial plays multiple times and the condensed game I want won’t play. And worse than that - You took away my favorite feature of the iPad app. Downloading games for offline viewing. That made your app better than any other major sport app. Now it’s the worst. On top of that the Apple TV app loses its Dish login every few games. It is constantly telling me I don’t have League Pass so I have to stop and restart the app over and over again. They unfortunately took a great experience and ruined it with the latest redesign.

Blackouts. I purchased the League Pass to watch a specific team play and was really excited to think I would be able to watch all the games as My household doesn’t have traditional television services. Instead we use apps (Netflix, HBO, etc). This at first seemed to be a perfect fit. However after $89 we learned that in addition to the blackouts, games on NBA TV can’t be watched. It is a separate subscription. I either could pay an additional $40 (on top of the $89) or wait 3 hours after the game is over to watch...seriously? Why sell a package for a specific team for season if that really isn’t what you are selling. Poor marketing. I still love my team but feel misled by the marketing. On another note the customer service was efficient by telephone in canceling my subscription. Thank you for at least having a good exit strategy.

League Pass ain’t that great. I wish I could watch all the games I want to on the app. At least that’s what I expected. It’s not the cheapest subscription so I find almost no desire to keep the subscription. When I can watch some games I want to then I enjoy it but if you only have one team you want to watch then it’s almost not worth it. You can always watch the highlights for free on here I guess. Or keep up with the news. Overall not my favorite experience. But I gotta put up with it because of how expensive every other option is.

Unresponsive. I expect this app to run a lot smoother considering the prices of subscriptions. Please update the responsiveness, resume game feature, and keeping the app from totally restarting after switching apps for a second. Great app if you’re a big fan of basketball. The only terribly annoying problem is how u responsive the app is when watching a game. It’s takes minutes for me to pause, replay, or go forward because the app doesn’t respond to taps at an efficient rate. Then it will absolutely restart the whole app if you leave it for a second, which means you must go through the slow rate of finding a game again, plus it won’t save your place 9/10 times.

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. THEY ARE PROMOTING 7 day free trail. There is no 7 day trial it DOES NOT EXIST. They instantly charge you and they charge you twice taking $90 out of my account 2 days before Christmas ruining Christmas dinner and Christmas for my family. 0/10 don’t subscribe. Don’t download their app. Horrible horrible service. All documents, screenshots and website 7 day trial stuff has been sent to my lawyer and he is writing up a lawsuit as we speak. NBA should be disgraced by this. AGAIN DO NOT SUBSCRIBE or use any NBA service!! AND I forgot I also order a collectible Larry Bird POP! and the box came ripped that it was in, ruining the collectible factor of it so it’s useless and I can’t even give it to my buddy for Christmas now! NBA has ruined Christmas in my eyes and I am disgusted by their flaws with these matters. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!

22-23 season update is horrible. The new app is ridiculously buggy and missing tons of features compared to the previous version. Bugs include being randomly signed out which resets the hide scores setting to off, meaning you have to navigate through the app (and see the scores!!) to sign in and turn it off again. Another issue is league pass game watching options being very incomplete. On one occasion, I wasn’t able to listen to watch the home stream of a bulls game, only the away stream — annoying but not that bad, but when I wanted to watch today’s bulls - 76ers game, the only option available for me to watch the full game was “Bulls Spanish Radio”. The stream was not only in Spanish but didn’t have any video!! The new app is also missing the option to resume a game from where you left off if you exit the stream or playback, and full support for 10 second skips forwards and backwards (there’s the option to do it when watching on your phone but it’s unsupported with the original Siri Remote on Apple TV, and also the remote app for iPhone). Please fix your app NBA, I want to watch basketball

Notifications are out of control. I love the NBAA app, I use it daily. However, I have it set up where I only want notifications for my favorite teams scores after each quarter. I have all other notifications turned off. The app is constantly sending me notifications for other teams, news and stories around the league. When LeBron broke the record for most points scored, I was getting a new notification every two minutes. I was so overwhelmed by it all that I turned all notifications off completely, but I was still getting them! I ended up defeating the app and I will keep it off my phone for a while because it’s completely overkill. Please fix this problem.

Cost Benefit Analysis. PROS: - A paid subscription allows you to stream out of market games not featured on national television - once streaming, even with less than optimal internet strength, I have few issues steaming games - the picture looks great CONS: - if TNT, NBA TV, ESPN, et. al have my team’s game, I can’t access my local market announcers. For me, this is a big deal. Others may not care. - like MLB TV and other pay for sports subscription services, you deal with local blackouts (so, if you reside in the market of your team or your team is playing a team within your local market you are also out of luck) - while far from inaccessible, the app is somewhat clunky - THIS is the big one and the reason for my review….to some this may seem nit-picky, but I take major exception with the fact that even after I pay a premium price for limited access to my team (see notes above), I’m still required to watch a 30 second add before my team’s steam.

They broadcast playoff games. But, upon arrival you can only listen to the radio??? Why am I paying 25$ for the playoffs and you aren’t showing a single playoff game . They would rather have you tune into your cable box to watch… so what’s the point of this app if i can’t watch any games? It just seems like a scam to me when we pay money to see absolutely nothing only hearing it from a radio and having us BUY not just the membership but, you can’t watch it on the app … you need Abc, TNT ,Fox, Espn . You literally have no point to purchase this app and download. When all they are going to tell you is the same thing they tell me … please watch on ABC,Fox,TNT, Espn. This app is nothing special

Eh. Constant emails & notifications even though I’ve unsubscribed I still continue to get them incredibly repetitive. I just got one about scoring tickets to the biggest nba events it says & I click on the link, takes me to the App Store even tho I have the app & once I get there it never keeps me logged in. Used my keychain & tells me it’s wrong but when I type in my password that is saved in my keychain (I have them written down) it takes me onto the app like I’ve logged in but now it won’t show me the sweepstakes. This is not new either. Frustrating! Am I the only one this is happening to?

Every year worse than the last. Apparently the NBA feels they need to redo this app every year but they never improve it at all. I couldn’t even log in because it seems they changed the password requirements and my account which I have had a long time, doesn’t have all the required caps, symbols, and numbers. There was nothing that explained this anywhere, it just wouldn’t ever make the sign on button active. Directions said if you have an account already just sign on using it. Uh Nope! Luckily I was able sign on using my computer and change my password there. The NBA will probably “forget” I have league pass again after the first free week ends too. I’ve only gone through this every year since League Pass started so yeah trust me the app has gotten worse every year.

Frustrating. For someone who is constantly checking this app, I can appreciate the changes and I understand the intentions, but when checking box scores I want to scroll up and down on players but not have to constantly go back out of the box score and into video. Now I have to scroll slowly back up so it stays. Ith something as simple but important as box scores why can’t it be it’s own screen? PLEASE change it back. Also where did the search player function go?

Simply garbage. This new TV app is GARBAGE... The app logout everytime on top of that after the app log out the user, you need to sign in again. Do you know how much trouble and frustrating it's to put AGAIN your email and your password in the TV with the TV control? Imagine putting an 12-16 characters password with the TV controller huh? It's ABSURD… EVERY streaming platform have sign in codes that you can link your account in less than a minute and VERY EASY BUT NO, here you guys still have the old email and password logging. What a joke 🙄 Yesterday I was watching the Lakers vs Minnesota game “LIVE”. All of the sudden I received a notification from my Sport app saying the that the game was over. Huh? How that’s possible I’m here watching the game “LIVE”…? Really unbelievable 😤

No game recap??. The app is mostly the same as the old one but one huge missing feature is the recap articles after every game. I used to read many of these each morning and it tells a more complete game than just looking at stats. Like did a player score all his points in one quarter? Was the game tight at the end? We’re their highlights/lowlights. So much more to a game than just score and stats and now I have to go elsewhere to get that which means I will use this app less than the old one. Couple of other issues many others mention like when the game says live but isn’t on for another 30 minutes. At this point I wonder why fix (aka screw up) what isn’t broken?

Worse than it used to be. No longer able to easily select teams to see team stats/schedule or navigate into individual player stats from the team roster. The player stats are still there, it’s just that the most logical place to navigate to them from is no longer an option. I also miss being able to see the charts that showed how the point spread changed when looking the game play-by-plays. Overall, the app feels like it is trying to be more like a clickbait app and less like a valuable tool for people who like to track things in the NBA on a granular level, and that stinks.

Great app with very clean layout. Overall I really like this app because it is very easy to use. And if you have notifications on it will basically tell you everything big that has happened. So if you miss a big game I guarantee it will be in the notifications or coming. My favorite thing about the app is that is so easy to use. From the great layout to the customization options it is a very easy app. All in all this is a great app for catching up on any games that you missed and very easy to use.

The New Layout is Awful. Prior to the update, the layout of the app was much better. While the new layout is more modern, the issue I have is with box scores and individual player stats. Everything in the box scores is enlarged now, so you have to really scroll (up&down/side to side) to see everything in the box score, whereas prior to the update everything was a lot more compact and easier to see without having to scroll around. As for individual player pages, all it shows is PPG APG RPG. You have to click on a different page in order to actually see all of the player’s statistics, which again is a more complicated way of seeing things that used to be quick and easy.

Paid for Access for my favorite team and it’s horrible. I paid so that I could watch the Hawks games since I’ve moved to the Dominican Republic and the experience is a horrible waste of money. The video freezes literally every five seconds . It’s been a waste of money and I wish I could get a refund. I haven’t been able to watch any games (even though I try) do to how often it freezes I thought maybe it was my inter next but I’ve tried on two phones , data, WiFi , and the internet strength is always high. I can watch videos on other apps no problems but this application has been horrible with respect to viewing games and I wish I never paid for. 0 out of 5 stars. Feels like I’ve been robbed and this isn’t some small company. It’s the NB freakin A.

Won’t screen mirror to LG TVs. App has some weird glitch where it won’t airplay or screen mirror on LG tvs. You can hear the sound but the video is black. Tried it on my brothers LG and it did the same. You all need to research and fix this problem!! UPDATE FOR DEVELOPERS: I really hate when I get these generic troubleshooting tips from developers. I can screen share on other brands of TVs so it’s a probably not something on my end. I have also seen other complaints from other users about the same tv brand. So why don’t y’all buy a lg tv and try it lol. You have enough money lol. Then when it doesn’t work use those same generic trouble shooting tips you keep telling us to use.

Do not buy the NBA League Pass. Huge waste of money. The NBA app is probably one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Absolutely nothing works properly and the layout feels like it was designed by a 70 year old man using technology from 2006. If you can actually manage to sign in and watch some games, be prepared for lag, random stops, and random time skipping. It will sometimes just set you back to the beginning of the game for no apparent reason. After about a week of using the app, it logged me out and I’m not able to sign back in. When I try to reach out to their “support” team, they don’t do anything to help. I also can’t log in on my PC, it gives the same error. I wouldn’t waste your money on the league pass, there’s many websites you can find live games

Unusable agony for watching a game. Downloaded and subscribed to this when a glitch made our cable not work for a hawks game. Choice for views does not include the basic overview. Every time we changed views it was proceeded by a three minute set of force to watch commercials. This makes the whole idea of multi-view pointless. Deleted it. Downloaded the TNT app and watched the game. Update: we just ditched it. Feel annoyed that I threw away money just to watch a dozen commercials and miss most of the first quarter. Tried again and every time I try to switch a view it goes to a forced commercial and could not find a decent camera angle. If I could get my $$ back I would.

Great service, frustrating app at times.... I love the League Pass as a service. Great features, tons of options to watch games. The iOS app is good when it works. Largely the stream quality and stability is good, and better than say the Roku App. However, the list of long-term bugs is pretty big. Frequent crashes, constantly making you log in again, inability to access different streams, and lack of key settings available on the web version would be the main culprits. So, wonderful service we are all paying quite a bit of money for... would just like the app quality and stability to match the price point. But the iOS app is still far superior to the Roku App so... 3 stars.

Alright. Ok, so im new to the app. I have a 13pro max and when i go into picture to picture mode and go back to full screen. The app gives me a ad. I understand why but sometimes i get a ad while a game is going on and the ad is like 1min 30 sec ad. While im watching a game it's unacceptable in my opinion. I would rather pay for a non ad version. Second i tried connecting the app to my vizio tv and omg. The worst i dont know why but the nba app would pause every 2 sec on my tv so i just watched the game on my phone instead. I hope these incidents are isolated because if people are experiencing this, its the worst and makes nba on my tv unwatchable.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!. This is literally the first review I’ve ever written in my life, but this app is sooo horrible that I just have to say something. I love the nba. But this app is an absolute embarrassment to the league. The nba is a multi-billion dollar entertainment organization, yet it can’t figure out how to have a functioning app? For games that are live, you can’t (1) rewind, (2) fast forward, or (3) start from the beginning. This is true on my iPhone and my Sony tv. And it crashes 50% of the time I use it. And even if you select the “hide scores” feature, it still shows the score 50% of the time. And spoilers are all over the Home Screen, so if you want to watch something after it’s over, good luck. And if I’m watching on my iPhone, for some reason the camera is zoomed in so I can only see the player with the ball rather than the whole court like normal broadcasts. The above is a partial list... but I don’t have time all night to list all the flaws with this junk app. To the NBA... are you a joke? Hire some real developers, and fix your garbage. Oh, and this was the case last year too. In fact, the current app is less usable then the old one. This app is literally so bad that it makes me think less of the NBA.

Trash. This Microsoft update is trash. The app has so many bugs now, my casting has stopped working on both chrome and Apple TV. The sound randomly cuts out at a certain point in the game. Random overlays pop up unprompted during the games. The app zooms in randomly on the game and doesn’t allow me to zoom back out. If I leave a game day on calendar view then return all of the team icons disappear making it impossible to know which game your clicking on. Many more bugs. Idk how you f something up this bad. The last version was also clunky but at least it was functional. My guess is the shorts probably work fine, but why would I want to consume basketball like that. I come for the full 48 minutes.

I liked the old app more, but it has potential.. I’m assuming the app is still be tweaked and updated to work 100% smoothly. Every time I open the app I have to sign in, and I’m not receiving any of the notifications I’ve turned on. I turned on notifications for game starts of my favorite teams, but then I go to the game itself and it shows the notifications are turned off. So now I have to go through every game and turn on which ones I want to be notified about (we’ll see if I get the alerts tomorrow). It also took me a while to figure out why my League Pass subscription wasn’t working, and my NBA TV subscription still isn’t showing up. The previous app seemed more streamlined and easier to use.

App is terrible on certain devices. Playback features literally do not work on the xbox. Only live games will play but even those sometimes dont work. Terrible service for someone who has payed hundreds of dollars for a simple service. I will change my review if the developers actually attempt to DO SOMETHING. Leaving my review here because the developer seems to only care about their reputation on the app store and has left the nba app on xbox to become a complete disgrace. I dont even think they read the reviews on there because the app is so terrible on that platform. That is what brought me here because now I have to leave my review here and use the app on my phone. Which is also terrible.

Be careful what you sign up for. This app is very misleading regarding what services you’re getting. If after you sign up and it doesn’t work correctly you try to work through the issue with customer support you’ll probably end up going past the time you can cancel. It’s all very deceptive. I described in what I thought were simple terms the nature of the issue to customer service but they don’t seem to even understand their own product. It wasn’t until I finally emailed them screenshots of the problem that they told me I wasn’t signed up for what I thought I was and that it’s been too long for me to cancel. If you decide to subscribe to anything, use a service provider that is not the NBA and maybe, just maybe, you’ll get what you’re hoping to get. I recommend avoiding purchasing anything on this app, ever.

THIS APP IS BUGGIN🤦🏿‍♂️. Recently on the NBA app, I’ve been looking at the box scores, and I have not been able to track rebounds for any player or any game that has been playing for the past 2 to 3 weeks. I have not seen no improvement on this. It must be something wrong with the server because when I go all the way down to see the team totals, it says a team has 38 rebounds, but when you look at the box score all the players didn’t gain a single rebound so it must be an error on the server I’ve been patient but there needs to be a updated version of this app ASAP!!!!!!!

NBA overlay is so annoying. I love the NBA, and I shell out for LP anyways (even though black out rules keep me from watching my Wizards on LP) because I enjoy watching. But my god, the overlay showing recent plays, substitutions and timeouts on the NBA LP stream takes up a third of my screen on my iPhone. The NBA already streams a great product, why add an unmovable overlay to it. The new app is decent, don’t have a strong opinion yet— Except the overlay!! Please allow an option to close it, or better yet get rid of it all together. I feel bad about giving 3 stars, it’s probably closer to 5, but this overlay is driving me insane. Apologies Adam Silver.

I LOVE THIS APP 🗑️🏀. I am a 15 year old basketball lover and i use this app for everything! I watch the games live, i watch the highlights the next mornings, i check the scores off all games, and i can go back and watch games i missed! I love to use this app to study the sport and just enjoy the sport! It really is amazing. It has everything you could ask for in a sports app. Betting odds, scores, highlights, games on demand, live games, and so much more! I would totally recommend to anyone who loves basketball?

Annoyed. A lot of times, I’m using an app and I get a pop up asking for a review. I typically decline and continue about my business. I didn’t get that prompt from this app but I was so annoyed by it, I went to the App Store and found it to give this review. I’ll try to keep this short; I’d like to search players, not scroll through them. I’d like to see what games are currently on as soon as the app starts up. And when I do tap on “games” I’d like it to show me the current day. Not sure if this is the same developer for Roku but I don’t understand why I’m constantly looking at tomorrow’s date when I’m looking for games. It just doesn’t make sense.

Deleted this progressively worse app.. The NBA has revamped their app at least twice and each time it loses more and more sight of what it is supposed to do. It went from an app that you could at least see stats and scores with delay and occasional crash. After a couple more attempts, it’s devolved into a glorified yet defunct social media app. Constant pop ups, ads, and things getting shoved into your way instead of simply checking the game schedule for a given night. Now it’s reached a point where you have to make an account just to use the app so they can flood your email with more useless trash. It’s amazing to me that a corporation as large as the NBA can’t fathom making an accessible app for a primarily younger audience, without making it look like everything must be in the form of an Instagram story.
