Problems with sound. No sound

There seems to be a bug that needs fixing. I got this app years ago for my daughter on a different device with a different cloud address. We loved it for her so much and I wanted to get it for my son on a newer device and I can’t record. As soon as I touch the record button it closes the app down. It was so cute recording my daughter’s voice when she was a tot for the lower case letters and my voice for the upper case letters. I wanted to do the same with his voice, because it was a great way to have her memorize the letters and sounds. I will keep testing it out on occasion to see if it was fixed or check for updates and hopefully they will have fixed the bug.

Bug. The sound doesn't work at all. I've tried the settings with it on and off, but there are no sounds to the game even in the intro. I've deleted and reinstalled as well to no avail.

Best app. This app doesn’t have pop-up ads which is a must for babies’ app. It’s great to teach alphabets to babies. The only problem is my baby loves loud sound it makes for wrong answer so, she plays with wrong answers before finally choosing the right answer. Edit: I turned off sound for errors on settings.

No sound and can't customize. No sound. So, I tried to add customized sound, and the app crashed. Too bad, this looked like it would have been very useful!

Will not customize. My grandkids love this app on my iPad. They are 4,3 and 2 years old. I previously could customize it with my own pictures and sounds. Now every time I try to record a sound to go with a picture the app crashes. SAD!! This was seriously the best app i found for my grandkids and I could customize it to suit their ages and interests. I would have gladly paid for this app. Too bad I can't find one like it. I just spent hours taking photos of scenes from my grandkids favorite movies. What a waste !! VERY SAD!!

3 finger touch does not work. My 2 yr old has mastered his uppercase alphabet with the help of your app but I can't change settings, view more apps or anything. My child needs to learn lowercase letters also but I cannot change the settings or even find out if this option is available because the 3 finger touch parental unlock doesn't work.

Sound didn’t work. I thought it looked pretty good clear picture great. But I couldn’t hear anything. My sound was on high and I checked the settings where you can turn the sound on and off and it still didn’t work. Not sure what happened hopefully it gets fixed it doesn’t seem to be a bad app.

Sound. No sound, but with headphones it works fine. Maaaaan, you have tons of similar comments. Cant u fix it?

Parental access not working. This app is useful, but only if parents and teachers can access the settings. The three finger thing doesn't work no matter whose fingers you use.

Great App. I love this app for my 3 year old. I love how it has different levels for her to learn with like upper case, lower case then the phonics sounds. We will use this for a year! She loves the praises it gives when she gets the answer right. Great app for a child just learning letters and sounds.

Sound Doesn’t Work. This app is pretty useless when it doesn’t provide sound for the child to actually know what they are supposed to be tapping on. I checked the settings on my phone, the app, and rebooted both, and still nothing. Deleted it.

Boring. It is more like a test than training

Sound doesn’t work. Saw great reviews but sound doesn’t work. I changed it in settings, turned off my Bluetooth just in case, and restarted my phone 2 times. Still no sound.

App crashes. Seems good but after anywhere from 2-10 letters the app crashes.

No sound. I used to love this app and it helped my daughter learn her letter and sounds tremendously, but for the last few months it seems to have no sound. Not sure what’s going on with it. If they can fix the sound issue I will give 5 stars

No sound - no use. I downloaded this app to try the phonics but the sound does not work even though the setting is on.

Recording crashes. The game seems useless if you can’t record any sounds and every time I press record it crashes. Unless I can figure out how to keep it from crashing to record, this app is completely worthless and will be deleted upon sending this review.

The sound WILL work!!. I wish I could reply to everyone who had this problem! I thought the sound was broken—- turns out if you have your ringer turned off, it turns the sound off in the app 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m glad I finally figured it out after cussing for several minutes 🤣🤣

App is great but missing some letters. The app works well, but the phonics game is missing some letters. There is presumably an option to add them yourself, but the app crashes every time I try to record the audio. If they could fix that part it would be perfect. Too bad they have stopped updating this app.

Not Phonics. This is not phonics! They are saying the name of the letter and asking children to identify. That is not phonics!!!!! Phonics is saying the sound the letter makes and asking children to identify - many letters have more than one sound - such as long and short vowels. Phonics help kids learn to read. This app helps kid identify letters based on their names.

Can’t customize. I love the app, however whenever I try to customize anything it doesn’t let me. Once that’s fixed, this will be the best app hands down.

Simple enough for special needs. I NEVER leave app reviews, I just delete them and ignore them. However, my 5 year old failed PreK a few times, and never learned to identify even one letter. With the pandemic we began homeschooling. I ran into this app after many frustrating sessions with her trying to teach her-where she would just forget the letter we were working on 5 minutes later. She has brain damage and low IQ. 5 days into this app using 15 minutes a day and she can identify SEVEN letters on her own! SEVEN! Two years of special education & she couldn’t even do ONE. I’d love to see more added to this on a separate app for sounds. This is my daughters saving grace right now. Thank you!

Great AP. Only one complaint.. Great app! I do wish that there was a way to get rid of the Preview letter at the top. It doesn’t take long for the child to pick up on the fact that that is the answer every time

Great App for teaching the alphabet. This is a wonderful app with so many options to make the letters more fun and appealing to kids. I also love that the multiple options allow you to go from teaching the plain letters to being able generalize them with embellishments. I also love the option which will just do the sounds if you're trying to focus on phonics. Another awesome feature is the min and max options for the number of choices presented. You can start with 1 letter for error free learning and then move to a larger field of choices to make the tasks more complicated. As a special educator this is the perfect app for teaching and assessing letter identification!

Great App. Only two problems. I like the app and I can definitely tell that my daughter is learning her upper and lower case letters. The two issues that I have are that the I and a on here are not how the children learn them in school and its gets very confusing for her. The capital I looks exactly like the lowercase L and that does not help her to understand. Also the lowercase a looks different as well. Other than that I do love the app but I’d definitely wish to see that being considered for change.

ABC can’t even pronounce the letters and works correctly. The person speaking can’t pronounce correctly saying v for van but says ven. X for Xmas tree please use a different person voice. Brought this game to teach my 3 year to speak correct English not jibrish

Only a little helpful. This is an Ok app for learning the letter names but I would love to see an option where the letter sounds are heard and matched to the letter.

Good one. I really like this app. It is very flexible. Adaptable, you can start of so simple and get harder and harder. I would like to still see the letter when you ad an image but you can't have everything can you?!

ABC Alphabet by Photo Touch. This app is average. My 2 year old son lost concentration very quickly. I think the child needs to be rewarded when they get the correct answers. Eg stickers.

Hate the new update. The previous version had a green tick to show the correct choice when asked to pick the letter in asking. Now, it displays a red circle around the correct answer. Both my child and I hate this. The green tick was MUCH better. They should change it back or at least have an option in the settings to change it back to the green tick.

Abc. Great for young kids, the voice is good.

Great app for learning letters. This is an excellent app for children to learn their letters. Engages them and makes them think. I will be using this app a lot when we are out on drives etc. My only ‘wish’ for this ap is that when they press the incorrect letter it would tell them the letter they did press.

Love it!. My 5 yr old plays for fun when driving in the car & doesn't know she's practicing her letters. I love that you can pick upper & lower case or both. My 3 yr old also loves the challenge & plays the "game" feeling like a big girl.

Occasional bug, otherwise good.. There is a bug that occurs when -multiple alphabet image sets are enabled (eg lower and uppercase) -correct letter is displayed twice from different alphabet sets -app thinks one is correct and one is wrong. For example, problem is select "j"and both "j" and "J" are displayed but only "j" is correct. Ap needs to be modified to only display one correct answer ( eg J or j, but not both) or recognize both as correct. I still give this three stars as it is only a free ap!

Limited range of options.... The app is alright for letter recognition but beyond that there is not much more to do with it. More games, matching upper and lower case letters,etc. would enhance the use.

Good, but has bug that needs fixing. My preschooler and toddler both like this game and the fun picture options make it interesting. BUT..... When two or more picture options are chosen (ie. Monkeys & children) sometimes it will show the letter in question twice on the screen in both pic options, but it will only deem one correct. (ie. It will say "good job" for the D with a child but give the buzz for the D with the monkey). Pls fix this!

Needs more reinforcement. When you select a letter It does not state which letter you selected. The toddler only hears which letter is being asked for once and then just finds the correct letter through process of elimination and then is not told which was the correct letter they have chosen. A message after choosing the correct letter like "Thats right! You picked the X" would go a long way to reinforcing the learning of the letters.

Kindergarten kids love it!. The kids in my kindergarten class really enjoy this app. It is easy to use, with a gorgeous interface. Of all the alphabet apps I ave tried, this is my favourite.

Fun app. I find my son gets a little bored with it after about 10 min.

Adequate. This app was ok for the basics of teaching letter recognition, phonemic sound addition would be nice to increase difficulty level and I did like that I could record my own error and success recording. Animations would increase motivation....good for a free app....

Good, but needs a fix. I noticed that if you have all the letter options selected, the game will occasionally display more than one version of a letter. If that is the letter being asked for, the game will only accept one version as being right and will give a wrong sound for any other version, even if that is actually correct. Either it needs to be programmed so that only one instance of each letter appears in any given screen, or both versions need to count as being correct.

Great for my one year old. My one year old loves this. And I love that I can make it only have one letter at a time on the screen. The only thing I found a problem was when you have both lower and upper case letters turned on, both letters appear on the screen. It's an easy fix just turn one of them off, but it would be nice if both were turned on it said point to the capital letter. Maybe it's on a higher level, but my son likes it and so do I.

We like it. This was one of the first apps I bought for my son on the recommendation of his speech therapist. He's two and a half, and knows most of his alphabet in capital letters. I like how you can go into settings and customize it to show lowercase letters as well. The app is very simple. I can see how it wouldn't hold some toddlers' attention, but my son love it because he loves to look at and touch letters anywhere he sees them. My only issue is that when it mixes lowercase and capital letters, sometimes it will put a capital and a lowercase of the same letter. Then when it asks you to touch one letter it doesn't specify if you should touch the lowercase or the capital. Then it says it's wrong if you touch the lowercase instead of the capital or vice versa. Love to see this fixed in an update, but otherwise, this app will be on my iPad for a long time.

Great learning letters app!. I love how this gets progressively harder by adding more letters to the choices. Especially love how I can choose whether she concentrates on upper or lower case letters or a mix of both. Being able to choose the various modes (animal, monkey, kids, sketches or all of them at once) gives it a fun feel to keep the child interested .

Good but needs a few fixes. Be careful when putting both lower and upper case letters in play. My daughter had to find a letter and both cases appeared on the screen. When she picked one, it told her she was wrong because it was looking for the other case style. Very confusing to a toddler. Until fixed, I suggest only putting one case style in play in the settings. Another improvement would be to have the correct letter repeated when chosen.

Alphabet perfection!. So basic and so brilliant! I've been looking for an app like this for quite a while for my letter-obsessed 23 month old. Within 2 minutes she had the hang of what she was supposed to do, and I could see her confidence building. All of the different settings are perfection and will no doubt keep her engaged for quite a while. Well done!!

Great Tool. I love this app!! It's a great learning tool for my 2 year old nephew. When I introduced it to him, I thought I would only demand his attention for 10 mins. so that he wouldn't get bored. My nephew played for nearly 30 mins. He loves the celebrations after every success! He was able to navigate it by himself. I love that he doesn't have to figure out how to flip the page like other apps. I love that it narrates the instructions. We both love that I can record and personalize the affirmations that play when he chooses correctly! He was tickled to hear my voice and beside himself when he heard his name! I hope to find other ps by grasshopper to help him study shapes, colors, numbers, and animals. I've search for an app that is simple and useful and that will hold his attention for a while; I'm overly excited to have found this!!

ABC Alphabet app. The app seems to be quite helpful for teaching alphabets. The part with the occupations, there are several of them that are too hard for a young child to recognize. The letter "u" in particular is hard, as i even had a problem. Maybe a umpire for baseball would be more recognizable. I couldn't get the microphone to work on the program to use my own voice or make my own list. Otherwise ther are very helpful parts for learning with this app.

Needs a bit more. This is a good game with a simple interface and would work well with 2 year olds and up. However there is a bug when it asks for a particular letter and there is more than one showing: it only accepts one right answer. A suggested enhancement would be for it to occasionally say "No, that is the letter ?" when an incorrect letter is chosen so the child can learn to recognize the more difficult letters.

Disappointing.. This game has no teaching aspect. Your child needs to know their alphabet in order to even play it. They don't do flash cards to teach you your alphabet they immediately send you to a page with multiple letters and expect your child to be able to identify the letter the narrator asks for. I realize that this game is free, but I've downloaded the lite versions of baby Spanish and baby sign language games and they offer so much more. Just a very disappointing app. This review is coming from a parent looking for easy ways to teach their child while making learning fun, not just downloading apps in order to preoccupy them.

Love this app-with one caveat. I love the simplicity-that there aren't goofy characters and long involved plot lines. I like that upper and lower case are presented. We have experienced one glitch several time. Both the upper and lowercase will be an option when the voice says "touch the f "(for example) and if you don't know which to choose because it wants only one of them. Small glitch for such a great app, i wish more of them were free.

Wonderful app, but gets stuck often aft latest update.. Hi thanks for correcting previous bugs like "Accepting any of the same letters if 2 or more appears on the screen" and also for introducing Phonics. But after the latest update, the app gets stuck often after 5/6 slides and we need to close it and restart again. Can someone correct it please? My son, 2.5 years is an avid lover of this app and I believe that this app is crucial for all the preschoolers out there to get to know & love the alphabets. Haven't yet tried the new additions as the app gets stuck often.

Great app!. My 21-month-old son loves this game! He became interested in letters when he watched an episode of "Super Why" and ever since he loves pointing them out and identifying them. I like this app because I can choose whether he sees uppercase or lowercase letters and/or whether he hears phonics. He's known his uppercase letters for a few months and with this he can practice his lowercase letters, too. When he sees me with my iPad, he comes up and asks to play "the letter game." I like that I could record my voice for him to hear when he gets a letter right or wrong. I also use this app when tutoring my neighbor's 4-yr-old on letter recognition and phonics. I think it is great for kids of any age who show an interest in learning letters or who need to practice letter recognition prior to starting school.

Great, but still some issues. Pros: uses multiple letter forms to help children learn to identify both lower case and upper case English letters, no matter what size, color or shape. Con: I turned on all letter categories and got one question where the Ap voice asked me to identify an "e" and there was an upper case "e" and a lowercase "e." I pressed the lowercase "e" and the Ap registered it as a wrong answer which is incorrect. This has the possibility to confuse new readers, but it looks like you can work around it by not running so many letter modules at the same time or by recording your own voice commands. I hope the developer will try and develop a fix so the voice can ask for a "big letter" or a "little letter." None the less this is a great free tool for parents on the go that could assist their child in building stronger letter form recognition. -2 cents. R

Confusing the Toddler.... This app starts out great with allowing my 3 year old to race through the alphabet. But then all of a sudden, it starts to have the same letter as a choice. Not to brag, but my son can say the alphabet backwards and forwards and everything in between. So, when he sees the same letter repeated, and then chooses that letter, and gets a wrong answer tone, it is annoying for us and confusing for him. It isn't even pertaining to with the upper or lower case. It has two upper case and he picks one and it says he is wrong. And so he chooses the other and it says he is correct. I am deleting this and I recommend you do the same, lest your child becomes even more confused!

Decent but found a bug. Fun for my 3 year-old if you have all of the ABC libraries turned on. However, we found a bug that makes it hard to play that way. This bug is over a month old - mentioned in previous reviews. If, say, an uppercase E and a lowercase e both display and it says, "Touch the eee," only one is correct. You get buzzed wrong if you touch the other one. "But, Mommy, that IS an E!" They should either make both correct answers or not display more than one of the letters you're supposed to choose.

Very good app Shame extras don't work recording etc.. This app really grabbed me for the first time seeing my son actually interested in looking at the alphabet. He goes through it with ease. It's a great app. However, the extras in the settings where one can add one's own personalized customized stuff, has a recording an image upload function over the imageworks but the recording does not work this is definitely a little bit frustrating and makes the developers seem a little bit amateur

Placates my 2 yr old!. This is exactly what I was looking for, and it keeps my 2 yr old son busy and happy for quite a while! I pull it out as a last resort, when he's tired or kicking and screaming and he calms right down and is happy to play.. I'm surprised that he knows most of the letters!! And having the lower case library included is great! Fantastic!!!

Four stars.... I'd give this app 5 stars if it gave the child a fun or colorful reward after every few rounds (like in Tozzle -My 3 year-old loves collecting the stickers; I'm sure it keeps her interest in playing going too). Otherwise this app is great. It's fast-paced, has a clean design, and the narrator's voice isn't annoying or overexcited. I'd be happy to add that 5th star if a 'reward system' was included in a future update. 

Needs some work to improve but good start. Would like to see the "play" options that are on settings screen to be on home page instead of starting off where game wants me to start. If the same letter is on the screen more than 1x then it only allows for a specific one not either choice. After round was over the game went off & took me back to my app menu options. Would like to have been given the opp to play same level again, different option, or done. Needs some work but good start!

Wonderful!!!. My son is 2 yrs 4 months, and this has helped him learn his letters extremely quickly. He enjoys playing it, probably his favorite thing to do on the iPad. Out of all the apps I downloaded for him so far, this is the best by a mile. So easy to use, I didn't have to show him anything, he picked it right up. THANK YOU from an extremely grateful dad!

4yr old LOVES this app!. My child, who is CONSTANTLY on the move, is willing to sit for 20 min playing this app on a daily basis! Being able to customize to child's ability (I have several that can use this app) is fabulous. One minor glitch, previously mentioned, is the issue of two of the same letter appearing (one uppercase, one lowercase) but only one being correct. If it wasn't for that, this app would have received 5 stars.

What a let down. After reading the description & seeing that this app was highly rated, I was excited to check it out. I was happy to see a fun, educational children's app with so many customization options. Unfortunately none of the customization options work. I really wanted to use our own pictures! When I try to "take a new photo" the app freezes up when you try to save it. I took a few of the pics I wanted first & tried the "choose existing" option & as soon as I hit that button the app crashes. I am so disappointed. The app is boring if none of the features work. Just another mundane ABCs app at this point!

Not what I wanted but pretty customizable. I expected this to be phonics as advertised. However, it was letter names instead. A teacher and never one to give up, I have redone the audio a few times to suit my needs and taken out letters I don't need my children to know yet. However, I wish you could easily get those letters back, such as turning them off instead if deleting them. Also, the a in the font is not what I teach my preschool children an "a" looks like so there should be different font choices. This would not get this many stars, but I was able to make it into a very usable game with the customizability.

Very good!. I love this app. I really like the fact that for once I can have my little one hear MY VOICE and not a stranger's! She is 3 and already knows the alphabet, so this is more to reinforce what she already knows. I have not had an issue with it freezing, but I did notice when I mixed lowercase and uppercase letters together it did ask to press the n, but there were two to choose from. So I decided not to mix the upper and lower together. But I love it. This is one I would have gladly paid for.

Perfectly simple. This app is so perfectly simple. Other apps focus so much on video rewards and sounds that kids are too distracted to actually learn anything. This is super basic, but with a ton of ways to change it up (sounds, uppercase, lowercase, etc). My almost 2 year old begs to play his "letters." I don't feel bad letting him play because he's learning without a doubt! I'm on the hunt for something similar with colors, shapes, and numbers!

Absolutely wonderful!. This game truly helped my daughter build a strong foundation for learning her letters. In a many other games there is so much going on that she wasn't retaining a lot information. Often she would get distracted by everything in the back round. She also seemed confused about the connection "A is for apple, and makes the sound 'ah'" I think that learning style was a little overwhelming for a gateway into learning the alphabet. This game was perfect. Two thumbs up!

Good. My daughter suffered a traumatic brain injury at the age of 4, she now 6 and in Kindergarten. She is behind in recognizing and identifying her letters. I really liked the ability to customize, we rerecorded the letters and their sounds. However, you have to rerecord for each set of letters. I do like how you can pick 'different' alphabets, and I really like how you can do either capitol or lowercase or both. I like how you can turn the 'success sound' on or off. I wish it gave the option to make the success sound every once in a while instead of just on or off. Or, maybe a 'goal' where the child is praised for finishing 10, 20, or so letters correctly. I would also have liked to see some sort of way to see what letters my child is having trouble identifying. I do like this app and we will keep it in our regular rotation of games for the kids.

Great app! Even better if you spend some time personalizing it!. This is great because you can personalize everything! By default it says "touch the..." *letter. but you can record your voice saying different things like "can you find the..." "where is that..." keeping it upbeat and a little different. You can have friends and family record a few too, that will really grab your toddler's attention! If your child doesn't know their letters yet, you can shut off the error noise OR change it to say "let's try that one again". If they know letters backward and forward you can make it say "no! That's so silly" I think this app would be great for toddlers at all different levels! Best of all it's free so why not take a little time to personalize it and try it. I Noticed the glitch with the capitols and lowercase both on, I plan on recording for each letter and just specifying Capitol or lowercase. It will probably take 40 mins or so over all, but you can do it in spurts and just turn on one set at a time until you are done. .

Doesn't teach phonics explicitly, can't mix upper and lower case.. The app is not bad; there are two useful options out of the many included. As long as ONLY upper case OR lowercase letters are presented, the child can learn letter names. If upper and lowercase options are on at the same time, the child will get one 'wrong' if he/she happens to choose the case of letter not programmed to be correct. "Touch the n" should have a correct response of N or n. this is not the case. When other options are turned on in settings such as animal fun, this problem is duplicated. The letters are cute, but the lowercase a needs to be presented the same way the child writes it, not the type-font a just like my review font uses. If these problems are fixed, I will gain full function of the app. Otherwise, the app is not educationally useful.

Love Education!. My son is starting kindergarten soon. I like this app a lot! It gives him independence and I enjoy a break with my coffee and watch him be so happy at being able to do it all by himself! He is amazed that he knows all this and it gives him more confidence! I am so proud of him! Great apps (even the ones you have to pay for) are hard to find that suits what you/everyone individually wants... These are my kind of "video games" I feel my son should be playing.. All game systems have it too! Once older I feel it's ok so for now! Strictly Educational fun!

Nice and simple but needs work. This is a great app for the younger kids, easy to use and customize. The issue that I have with it is that in certain settings there are multiple of the same letters and if you don't click the right one it will be wrong. I feel that this will confuse the younger kids because they are indeed clicking the right letter but it is not what the app is saying is the correct one. Some kinks to work out but a good start.

Disappointed. Needs Tweaking. As a K5 teacher I was very excited to find this app. It was just what I was looking for...However, it needs tweaking. The capital I has no top or bottom lines, both of which are present when children kern to identify them in kindergarten. Also, it displays duplicate letters but it counts one f them wrong when it's clearly correct. Letters should be block style rather than script since tat is how most kindergarteners learn them.

1UT teacher. Overall, this app is not bad. My four year old really likes to play it. I like that you can customize the app to show only upper case or lower case. My recommendation is not to have the upper and lower case turned on at the same time because the game doesn't specify upper or lower when you are selecting the answer. A lot of the time it will ask for a letter, and then have both the upper and lower to choose from. Because it doesn't specify, you have to guess which one it wants... If you choose the lower and it wants upper,it will tell you that you are wrong. It frustrates and confuses my kids when it happens. If this were fixed, I could change to 5 stars.
