Losing a loyal customer. As a stylist StyleSeat was the best booking app for me. It was user friendly for myself and my clients. The cancellation policy is what’s kept me so long. The reason I’m leaving is because my app literally never works. I try to open it and it just loads. I thought maybe it was my phone but I struggle getting the website to load as well. Also, how does the StyleSeat team have time for all these new ideas to get money from our clients but no way to make our lives as professionals easier? The email marketing is basic and doesn’t allow much modification. There’s no way to turn off new clients booking. I know they get paid per transaction but as the owner I deserve to decide when my clientele is full. The random promos offered to my clients without my permission was confusing and unnecessary. I really could keep complaining but most importantly I can’t open the darn app so it’s useless to me. I’ll be switching ASAP. Oh yeah. The two stars are simply for the “good times” in the beginning years.

Has so much potential. I love that it’s basically google but for the beauty world. However, it has it’s cons. We should be able to upload videos not just pictures. We live in a video world. The website always has glitches and I currently can’t link my site to my Facebook or Instagram because the page won’t load after putting in my login credentials. Last con for me is that I sometimes have to clarify that I do know the client that has booked. If I don’t they will take a new client fee for someone who isn’t new. Pros to end on a positive note…It has brought me clients, and I love that they do send texts about cancellations to clients so I’m always booked. Having cards on file definitely lowered no call no shows. If it lowered the new client fee it would be cool too. Because at the end of the day we’re self employed. I don’t care if it’s 5 dollars I stood on my feet to make it and I want it.

As a client it’s convenient, but as a stylist you get ROBBED!. So, I’ve been using StyleSeat for 5 years back when it was FREE for stylists. Then it evolved to where they started charging a 50% “finders fee”. Pretty much if a new client said they found you on StyleSeat, during checkout it they would take half of your money. Imagine doing a service for $300 and you only receive $150. Uh no! Because of this, I stopped using StyleSeat for a while then when I returned they started charging a monthly fee of $35. Wasn’t too thrilled about this, but I eventually paid it until I could find another place to schedule my clients. Now, they’ve started this profile boost crap. Nobody asked for this. I didn’t ask to have my profile boosted to find new clients. It’s forcing you to pay for marketing they you don’t even opt in for. Basically, they’re back to charging the 50% “finder fee” but instead of take the money at checkout they take it up front as a deposit. Not exactly sure how it works, but when you see the amount at checkout it’s only 50% of the service. I’m done with StyleSeat. It’s not worth it at all.

Fed Up. I’ve been a long time user of this site. But it DOES NOT protect its merchants! It’s common practice in the beauty industry to have a late cancel no show policy in place. They don’t follow through with ensuring it’s properly enforced. Even with the updates not allowing clients to use prepaid cards you still wind up getting screwed if your actually able to collect a payment all the client has to do is dispute with the bank. It’s insane because there is an agreement between client and merchant that has to be checked off before an appointment is confirmed. Shouldn’t that be binding? After paying a hefty monthly fee for a service the last thing I want to be doing is fighting a dispute through a third party company who does nothing to protect you. We have no direct contact with the bank so we aren’t actually sure what information is being sent. It’s also pretty frustrating not being able to collect a deposit for services through the site. I’ve had to begin using an outside payment system to ensure payment is received for services as I can’t rely on StyleSeat. This service is supposed to act as an assistant. It’s supposed to provide convenience the payment system is everything BUT that.

NO!. I have loyally used StyleSeat for 7 years. I wish I would’ve been reading these reviews over the last couple years after the countless issues I’ve had for reassurance I wasn’t alone and to switch companies sooner. Not even barley touching on their “marketing tools” which are just small ways they start trying to micro-manage your business. Taking my money for clients they “sent me” which were clients I’ve already had in my client list. Charging my long term loyal customers fees to book. Just no. But my NUMBER ONE COMPLAINT - ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. How in the h e l l is this company still standing with zero customer Service number. The fact that I have been running my entire business and all of my transactions through a company that not only doesn’t even have a phone number but also doesn’t even respond to emails within 24-48+++ hours is UNFATHOMABLE. It’s took two weeks of emails to get my 1099 last year. UNACCEPTABLE. This isn’t a petty side gig I’m using StyleSeat for, I bring in a successful income and have used StyleSeat to fulfill these transactions and the way they treat their professionals is disrespectful. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Worst experiences ever. I was looking for good professional salons in the northern Virginia area. The first time I used it it for my anniversary it wasn’t too bad. I went and got my nails done but when I got home a scratched my arm and 2 nails came off when I contacted the tech to fix them he told me he was on bed rest and not sure when he would be able to fix them. I got my hair done with someone different but she burned my natural hair and when I got a wig installed the glue she used burned my forehead. I recently booked an appointment for my lashes but they rescheduled me 3 times up until the day of my trip and had to cancel because I was going out of town. I booked a hair appointment and she had an attitude and then said she could not do the style I wanted. So I’m my last hopes I booked another hair appointment ordered the wig from him which was $475 and paid a $50 deposit just for him to push back my appointment as well. In my experience none of these stylists are professional and will take your deposit and do whatever they want.

I really love this app…but some of the stylists I went to were really bad :(. I don’t know if there is a way to screen these stylists. 4/5 that I went to had terrible attitudes. Maybe this is not universal…maybe just in my city so take my review with a grain of salt. This last stylist literally waited an hour be4 my appointment to cancel but I showed up before I saw her cancellation…no explanation, message or phone call. Then when I arrive I am treated like trash as I try to find out which stylist I am seeing in a crowed shop. My hair turned out ok…her assistant basically did all the work. When I finally did get in her chair, she kept claiming I wasn’t keeping my head straight. Then after the appointment says she doesn’t take payments through the app in an attempt to embarrass me in front of the whole shop. I can’t make this up. One of the WORST experiences I’ve ever encountered. I don’t know if there is a way to screen these stylists to make sure they actually want to take the appointments. I did not feel that the service or hairstyle was worth $85. It a shame because she could have had a loyal and repeat customer.

Searching for another options...... I’ve been with StyleSeat since it was free. Not much changed to justify being forced to pay $35. Then recently they decided to start charging clients $1 per appointment that they book. They did not share this info with we the professionals until we started inquiring about rumors of this change. The way they went about it caused my clients to think that I was the one who made the change. They have implemented a “premium service” option that I choose not to take advantage of. I have a set schedule and new clients think they can just request any time if they don’t see an open appointment. I want to turn that feature off but I can’t. I feel like I’m getting a “shake down” from the mob or something. Not cool and they have lost a customer. Most of the professionals I know that are using StyleSeat are also looking for other options. I’m very disappointed. Please don’t hit me with the “reach out to us” response. All you are going to do is explain your reasons for the change but not offer me anything that will make me stay.

Very skilled, considerate professional.. I am a native New Yorker who has spent a lot of time in the American South. Unfortunately, as I move a lot, my hair is too often a casualty. I am happy to have found a hair care specialist in Seattle who listens, and is responsive to the needs and concerns of their customers. Many stylist I have come across treat my hair like weave hair, which makes for pretty hair that isn’t necessarily healthy (I.e., bone straightening natural hair, which in my case leads to damage.) I came in for a visit a few weeks ago to talk about my hair type, needs and concerns. When I came back later for style, she remembered all of our conversation. While I have never used any of the products that ELLEtique carries (several different lines and types), I am happy say that I left with my hair feeling and looking amazingly healthy. Cheers to long, healthy hair by way of transitioning from a customer to client.

Money hungry company!!!. I have been a loyal customer for over 7 yrs and I am transitioning over to switch to Square! This company used to be very good, but now I realize they are just money hungry sitting back racking up off of how many people I book. Their membership fee is $35, then of course they charge a fee for every card transaction. Then on top of that they charge my client $1.00 every time they book with me, so if I book 100 clients that month, StyleSeat gets $100, if I book 500 clients that month, StyleSeat gets $500 that month. And the bad part about it is I didn’t even know this until I had my clients calling about $1 charges on their account! This can’t be legal! I didn’t sign up for you to make money off of the amount of clientele I have! Also you don’t give us any option on if we want to require a card or not anymore! And sometimes it automatically checks my clients out that was gonna pay cash and messed up one of my clients bank account! She always pays cash! I want control over my own business! You got some things to change about your service before I’ll be back!

Inconsistent. I have been using this app for at least 6+ years. In the beginning clients along with myself loved the app! It was so user friendly and helped out a lot. As the years have gone by- especially once they started charging a high monthly fee of $35- the glitches started and constant updating. Now they have a feature where clients HAVE to put in a credit card in order to book. In the past this was always an option and the stylist had control to keep it on or not. I am finding this very frustrating & clients cards are getting "auto checked out" when they have always been cash & check customers. With the amount of data breaches I don't blame anyone for not wanting to store their card in a system. The app is constantly changing and it's difficult for myself and clients to keep up with. I never know the exact protocol. Also, it's near impossible to get a sincere response from their customer service. There still is no customer service phone number listed anywhere- simply email. When I do send emails most the time I get an auto response back and very generic directions or steps forward. This is especially frustrating dealing with payments. If you asked me 4 years ago how I like this app I would have had nothing but great things to say! Moving forward now I'm hoping to find something more reliable and hopefully not so expensive. Look else where before you sign up for styleseat

Disappointed with Payments. My stylist chooses to use Style Seat. I’ve never loved the functionality - I often make two appointments at a time for my mom and myself, and I don’t like the home screen setup when you have an existing appointment and want to make a new appointment. Now I’m really unhappy with the $1/booking situation and I’m even more unhappy that the only way to use the app is to give StyleSeat my credit card information. No PayPal or Apple Pay option? And the “booking fee” goes to Style Seat to “improve user experience” - I haven’t seen much functionality improvement on the customer side in the years I’ve been using this app. Maybe it’s for the ongoing security updates they will need to protect all of our now-required credit card info? Plus, my card will be automatically charged for my mom’s appointment, and I can’t remove my credit card info without cancelling her appointment. She doesn’t even own a cell phone, so she can’t use the app herself. I like the convenience of being able to make or change appointments without bothering my stylist, but the surprise new credit card requirement is awful. My stylist will allow me to book via text, but now he will be losing the usefulness of the app. This is a poor business model.

This app protects the stylus more then the clients!. I actually liked this app at first but after a while it got terrible. This app likes to protect the stylus more than they do the actual clients. Let me explain why when you book an appointment with StyleSeat as a clients it automatically takes out one dollar as A deposit to actually book your appointment which is fine but I had an incident where I showed up to the stylus‘s house and she told me that she was at work so they charge me half of my appointment even though I never got a Service done and when I try to specify on the app that she was the one who canceled on me I couldn’t because there’s no thing on the app for that and then another thing happened to me where I paid the stylist in Cash and StyleSeat took the money out of my account because the stylus didn’t tell them that I was paying in cash and when the stylus tried to tell them that I was paying in cash there was no button for that so they just took the money out of my account I’m done with style seat yall need to get better.

Questioning is it even worth it!. As a pro stylist thats been on styeseat for some years now. the app has its pros but it has just as many cons, especially when it comes to payouts, how much percentage is being taken, and the fact that since i took out a loan with stripe, I am noticing that I HAVE NOT BEEN GETTING MY TIPS! Styleseat also claims to take 25% on clients they send you FOR THE FIRST TIME. My problem is that i am being charged HIGH fees for my well ESTABLISHED CLIENTS...and since signing up for a stripe loan my tips has not been coming to me... my next question is if tips are soley left to the stylist why are you taking them and making the tips looks like its a part of the full transaction?? I reached out to stripe and they informed me that BASED ON HOW THE TOTAL AMOUNT IS REPORTED IN THE SYSTEM BETWEEN YOUR PLATFORM (STYLESEAT) AND STRIPE CAPITAL TIPS ARE INCLUDED WITHIN THE TOTAL SALES AMOUNT... THIS IS SHADY PRACTICES, MY NEXT PROBLEM IS UPON SUBMITTING A TICKET TO STYLESEAT YOUR CUSTOMER SERICE REP BLEW ME OFF AND WAS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE MATTER AT ALL, NOR WAS SHE TRYING TO HELP. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING ANOTHER BOOKING APP, KEPT TELLING ME TO REACH OUT TO STRIP IN WHICH I DID AND SENT THE EMAIL OF WHAT STRIPE SAID TO ME. I NEED ANSWERS BECAUSE I RUFUSE TO KEEP GETTING ALL MY TIPS SNATCHED AND NOBODY HAS A SOULOUTION ON WHATS GOING ON, THERE AARE OTHER BOOKING APPS. I DO NOT WORK FOR FREE.

Taking advantage of their clients and mine at this point. Around 7 years ago when this app started it was good .. it was a little glitchy but it was fair and it was functional and it made my booking life way easier.. fast forward to the last couple months. Without a warning they started charging my clients a dollar on top of me already paying $35 monthly and they take 3% from checkouts. So that being said I told them I’d rather them not take a dollar from my clients because I’m already paying the fee .. they said this isn’t an option and they were doing what other booking sites do (ive yet to see if that’s true but Im looking today on my day off). So after deciding after all these years of me promoting their app because I have a very successful business they would at least consider how unfair this is .. they refused and now they are making all the people check out automatically when some people just pay me cash or use Venmo ... they are making it very difficult for me and my business and I feel trapped because all my clients info is in here and allllll my future appts .. also .. THE APP IS STILL SUPER GLITCHY!!! Like the worst app I have on my phone so thanks a lot styleseat for treating ur clients like crap because ur greedy

Inconvenienced and FED UP!!!!. I have been using StyleSeat since August 2016. It took some time to get adjusted to the way things work with them. And I started liking it, even started using them for deposits. BIG MISTAKE!!! I had to reach out to them recently about a deposit of mine and they took FOREVER to respond. There’s no phone number to call, if you email over the weekend, you can forget about even getting a response. With square, I can change my debit card information for deposits, and still be able to receive my deposit the same day. With StyleSeat, they hold on to the money. I understand it is for precautionary measures, but there should be a more convenient way of verifying changes so that way it doesn’t stop the process for business owners. I expressed this to them three times and told them how I would be leaving StyleSeat because of how inconvenient it is and they basically said ok. Yesterday they confirmed with me that my deposit was going to the account that I had just updated it to. This morning i checked and they sent it to the WRONG ACCOUNT!!! So now I won’t even see my money!!! (I changed accounts for a reason) I get that I’m not the only stylist utilizing StyleSeat, however, QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE goes a very long way and they lack it. So I refuse to keep paying $35 a month when I can’t even speak to a real person or get an quicker reply. I’m fed up, and I’m done!!! StyleSeat will not get my business any longer. I will be transitioning out.

Professional review. I have been using this app for years since about 2017 but recently it has given way too many problems . It charges YOU the professional for having a new client book with you. If a client that you know and are familiar with ask you to cancel their appointment it will start to direct them to other professionals and limit your visibility if they can book with you . It doesn’t always directly deposit money, especially on weekends , it has taken at least 40$ off of the total income of what was produced in a day quite a few times , and the app stalls sometimes where you can’t even use it . when all of these things break down there is no one to call, no one to talk to not even a love or virtual assistant like on the bank apps and it’s too much money involved for that not to be in place . It also takes them a long time returning your email and it’s very frustrating and most Times when they return an email it isn’t helpful and doesn’t solve the issue . Stay away from style seat

Customer service is awful. *********ATTENTION!!!!!!****** think long and hard and do your research before joining this company!!!!!! I don’t even know where to start. It is not near impossible to get in contact to fix a problem, it is just impossible! Which was THE number determining factor of me switching services. How on earth after being around for so long, do they have zero support when needing to talk to someone other than email????? I don’t get it. Especially when their competitors do. I unsubscribed last month to finally make a switch. This past week i had an oops on my part and missed a day if transferring times of appts. I’m lucky my first client was so understanding of my mistake. I tried to contact styleseat to see what i can do to just see my books to make sure i wasn’t missing any other days. No one responded or be found! So today i get an email saying i have an appt. but won’t say what just the time. i thought i could quickly check and unsubscribe right away without having to pay a whole month I’m not using. Nope it’s pending in my back account. No customer care to call. They have a phone number on my bank statement from previous withdrawals with styleseat so my bank gave me that phone number. Which just goes to a recording of a different company.... If you’re on the fence about joining or switching, don’t join and definitely switch! Far better services that offer so much more and they are cheaper! And have all the support you need :)

Love the app minus the glitches sometimes. I love styleseat and the flexibility of 24/7 access to allow clients to book at all times especially when you’re receptionist is on vacation or you’re on the move and not in the salon to see scheduling. There are glitches too often on my behalf as a stylist and with my clients I’d rate 10 stars if I could and if the glitches weren’t as frequent and often. My phone is updated with the current software as well as my app and it still takes minutes to load sometimes as well as not always getting notifications in a timely manner amongst other issues and on my clients behalf they’ve told me they’d try to schedule for a day when I’d have no one booked and it’ll only show evening appointments or no appointments at all and I haven’t altered my schedule but then they’ll go back on in an hour or a day and slots are available. But aside from the weird glitches no other app is as convenient as styleseat has been for me thus far.

Do not use this app as a client. Please read and save your money.. I have been using styleseat for a couple years now. Never had any issues until recently. Issue #1: styleseat recently changed their terms of service and no longer allows you to handle transaction disputes with them/within the app. Issue #2 StyleSeat allows you to save your credit/debit card information but DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO REMOVE IT if you have an upcoming appt unless you cancel the appt. Which bring me to issue number #3 and #4. I received 4 notification emails this morning from styleseat. Two of them were were notifications of appts that were booked FOR me by a professional. Two of them stated that these appts were also prepaid for, the times the appts were scheduled for haven’t even happened yet. Circling back to issue #1, styleseat doesn’t allow me to dispute transaction anymore, and circling back to issue #2 I could not remove my card to stop further transactions unless I canceled the appts. But I could not cancel either of these appts because they were FRAUDULENTLY PREPAID for. This means that this exploit could have continuously charged me funds had I not contacted my bank. This is the poorest and most irresponsible design I’ve seen around the transaction aspect of an application. I will never use this platform again and I advise others not to as well.

Annoying issues / Clients experiencing glitches. Having issues with incorrect reporting and running promotions. Email support takes forever and when they do email they don’t answer the specific questions I asked. It sounds automated. I have had several customers before the holidays asking if the site is being updated or something because of glitches that happen during booking. Texting me to confirm their booking went thru. They did not give any warning about their site overall and their new look. My business manager was afraid maybe a hacker had taken the site hostage to collect clients information. So when I emailed them regarding this issue, along with other questions. One of the questions was answered and that was their was indeed a new logo which is a lion that displays when loading. They said in the email the story behind this would be told in the new year! Ha thanks for the heads up. As a company you should see how this is frustrating. I honestly think the old layout was more professional looking. And the new layout with dark black lines around my profile pic and reviews looks very cheap and unprofessional. Bring back the old interface.

Shady shady business practices, RUN! Don’t join!. On my way out the door. I have so many issues with StyleSeat trying to come up with more ways to snatch money from me and my clients. Taking a percentage of everything. You get my $35 a month and that should be it! Now they are charging clients $1 to book with me and never notified them or ME for that matter. It’s just bad business practices and makes me look bad because I had no info to share or date when that went into effect. Now they wanna say they will send text messages to clients and “will let me know” if they book. Ummm my clients check my calendar 24/7 anyway. And I typically always have “day of” openings so how will they differentiate how or why that client booked? So shady. I can’t wait to cancel! We already pay booth rent, commission, marketing, scheduling service, etc now STYLESEAT wants to nickle and dime the hell out of us to keep stealing money from us hard working professionals. I’m sick of it!!! Giving my clients 30 day notice and I’m OUT!

StyleSeat, you have seriously lost your mind.. How do you take perfectly loyal monthly paying subscribing stylists of 10 years and then suddenly, with no notification, begin contacting our clientele we trusted you with and force them to enter their credit card info, directly charge them a $1 every time they book online, text them that they can book for an earlier slot if they pay Styleseat a percentage of the cost posted next to stylists listed service cost (completely unsolicited and with no options to stop them from doing so) and then, when asked why, they answer it’s because it’s GOING to be a better service for the client in the near future? Not now. But in the future. Who does that? I have no idea who took over from the people that originally started this company but I seriously feel I’ve encountered the mob. I’m not joking. I’m worried for the security of my account, personal info and all 300 of my clients who we should have been able to trust them with. If I didn’t have to spend all my energy and time right now having to start over again and transition everything with a whole new company, I’d seriously like to sue the crap out of you. You are horrible people. And a horrible company. You don’t know anything about customer service, business ethics or basic human morals.

All of the 5star rating are fake, SCAM app. If you are a professional stylist BE WEARY OF USING THIS APP. Check the BBB for StyleSeat, they have hundreds of complaints from stylists & client, along with an F rating. Currently searching for alternatives to this app because it does not work in a professional stylists favor. 1. You pay $35 monthly for the possible acquisition of new clients, heavy on the possible. 2. StyleSeat takes a percentage of every card payment processes through the app. 3. StyleSeat forces all clients to pay through the app by telling them “This stylist PREFERS touchless payments only” while telling the stylist “This customer prefers touchless payments & wants to pay through the app.” Which are BOTH LIES to make them more profit. Because they’re so concerned with profits, they allow ANYONE to use their platform without verifying if the card put on file is legitimate. Therefore clients can come in under the guise of TOUCHLESS payments, get a service done, leave & “the card on file” DECLINES. The only help StyleSeat offers is to “Reach out to the client to pay with a different card.” Or “block the client from making future appointments with you.” The money and time lost is completely on the stylist and StyleSeat takes NO accountability. Then if you complain THEY SHADOW BAN YOUR ACCOUNT so that any prospective clients cannot book with you.

Scammers everywhere. First of all this app doesn’t protect anybody except themselves. I downloaded the app thinking I could avoid the scammers on FB and instagram and find a stylist to do some braids for me and my daughter. Customers should never be forced to save a card. I let that go because I thought surely the developers wouldn’t leave me unprotected. Should’ve never made my appointment and followed my first mind. Second there is no way for the client to get any recourse or protection from scammers. I’ve literally been texting and emailing the person I made an appointment with since yesterday for her address. It is 9:12 am and my appointment is at 9:15 am and she hasn’t responded to me at all. Autopay was set up and I can’t cancel it only the stylist can. As soon as she tries to get paid I’m calling my bank to refund it because StyleSeat doesn’t have any contact info so you can talk to a person. This is a scammers paradise and there is no way they are verifying that all these people are real stylist. It is really unprofessional to model yourself as a safe place for people to do business and allow no protection from scammers.

Canceled. I had been with StyleSeat for 3 years or so with everything going great. There were times the app glitched up or had some problems but I can look over that. The problem I have is their customer service. It’s horrible. I had been looking at switching because styleseat sends out prompts to clients saying “put your credit card on file” or texts clients saying an “opening became available” but it’s not the right time frame for that client. Clients get confused because now they think they can get in earlier but really it was an opening just for a haircut not color and cut. BUT the past two days I’ve had to deal with their customer service and it’s awful. I needed my 1099 form which I never received. Simple request. Apparently not for them. For some reason after 3 years they had to “verify” my account and they held this over my head before the would provide me with my 1099. They said do this and do that THEN we’ll send your 1099 form. Honey, that’s not how this works. Because of this I CANCELLED styleseat. Let me tell you to cancel isn’t easy either. Long story short I’m so happy I left StyleSeat. Besides the monthly fee and all the little charges our clients get it’s ridiculous. It was a little nerve wracking to switch but I’m so happy I did. So, thank you StyleSeat for making me switch to another app!

A true Company that takes advantage of loyal users. I have been using Styleseat for over 6 years. First was free, now $35 a month. Cool chalked it up and kept using because of the clientele I had built in my database and clients were used to using. Now even my clients are fed up with all the extra booking and hidden fees. This company is a true example of money hungry. No integrity whatsoever. No real customer service. No urgency to assist with important matters of the users and spa professionals. Sneaky to say the least. Currently looking for a new booking system, my clients have informed me they would be perfectly fine with that and that I should indeed cancel my styleseat membership. Of course I will probably loose all my stored information, hundreds of positive reviews & client lists because I’m sure they have no way of providing us this valuable data by email or any other form. Won’t miss styleseat at all at this point, when i’m sure there are plenty of other platforms for free or for the same pricing & with better communication & offerings. The professional has no control over pricing editing costs, and so much more. I used to feel like styleseat was a rare & great find, now I just feel taken advantage of.

This company is fraud. From a professional standpoint they take your money every month for membership , charge you for all your credit card transactions but then can't contest any disputes that scamming clients file. I had a late cancellation policy in place with style-seat and even still they allowed the clients bank to give her her money back. What's the point of using styleseat when anyone could dispute and you end up losing money and giving a scammer a free hair service. Style-SEAT has done it to me various times with over $300 dollars even after to ask for you provide legitimate proof that the client is in the wrong. As a business owner what benefits do I get from a company that I have a to pay $35 a month to for a membership plus pay a fee for credit card transactions and then on top of that they can't contest unfair disputes on your behalf (with proof) even when your their more valuable client snd you created the cancellation policy with THEM! Honestly to any professional be careful with style-seat , if any client disputes they always win no matter what proof you show.

Steals money from clients and professionals. I liked this app at first because it actually felt like style seat was sending me clients but come to find out they don’t. I shared my booking link on Fb and IG and I always ask my new clients how did they find me and they tell me I booked through the link on your fb or IG.. (that’s basically me advertising myself so I should get the FULL price that I charged the client right?) but no StyleSeat takes a cut every time someone books AND when they use their card. Style Seat wants you to accept ONLY CARDS so they can get paid too. Last but not least professionals put in their business location and they are found when someone looks up ex: natural hair, once they look that up it shows who is near you by radius but StyleSeat claims they do all the work when really they do nothing but take from licensed professionals and then delete your business account once you start taking cash payments smh. I am very upset because it’s almost the end of the year and I have do taxes in a few months and I have no record of the days my clients came how much I charged how much tax was taken ect because STYLESEAT DELETED MY ACCOUNT AFTER I STARTED TAKING CASH PAYMENTS THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

Tired of Style Seat. Let me start by saying I loved style seating once I got on but after the pandemic it just kept getting worst and worst. They put my clients on auto checkout without a on or off switch… they charge clients a extra 10 for notifying I have a earlier opening that I don’t even get a part of . They offer clients 15 percent off without stylist permission and not they are asking clients to pay a fee to secure they deposit smh… it’s like they are trying to get money any type of way from all clients and stylist it’s pathetic at this point .. also I noticed if you cancel appointments on a auto check out it results in them not promoting your website … i looked up what I do in my area under high ratings which I do have and my name didn’t came up nowhere smh people with zero stars showed but not mines smh so they pushed me and clients away . We both can’t stand them so now I’m in the process of leaving… I would not recommend this site to anyone.

Not a professional benefit. I have been using StyleSeat for a year now as a professional. It has been a terrible experience!!! Clients book only paying $1 and then come into the shop wanting to pay cash or use other methods of payments. And the professional is held responsible for that decision. Not only that, they took money out of my personal account without any warning or correspondence that they were. Nothing about StyleSeat benefits the professional unless you are using them as your main calendar. I’ve only received a new client 2-3 times out of a month. They give away coupons that modifies the professionals pricing that the professional doesn’t receive. To me I have lost more money doing business with StyleSeat than I have earned. And let’s not forget the customer service. There is no phone number to contact and if you create a ticket they’ll never get back to you! Being honest I had better customer service and experience using booksy than StyleSeat.

Terrible app. never get this app unless you know the stylist personally and have met them. The stylist are also a problem with this app. This company is terrible and it doesn’t help the costumers at all, this app is a complete scam in my opinion. Charging customers a $1 for an appointment is outrages and auto setting a tip for $30 is stupid. My main concern is the entire system. Their should be videos on how to do everything but it’s not. No phone number for customer service which i believe to be very unprofessional and then stylists themselves are very disorganized. Why are y’all allowing Stylist to set up without them adding a Address or Phone number to reach them at. Once again very unprofessional, i feel like i wasted my time with this app. I’ve emailed dozens of time and i get no response and i made sure to not only use my phone and Devices when I tried to cancel my appointment and it did not work. The set up is very crazy. at first I just went out to reschedule my appointment but when I tried to do that it would not let me and then there was no button for the cancellation. When i read the hat to do i did just that but the app is just not working. I made sure to click everywhere and nothing work besides the payment option it’s clear this app just wants my money, i’m considering taking legal action because i can point out multiple law breaking issues. This is not the last time you’ll will be hearing from me.

Never Again. I have only used the app twice and both were disasters. I booked an appointment the first time for a sew in style. The first red flag should have been when they never even responded to my text with questions beforehand. Once I was seated, the stylist questioned how I made my payment. I thought that was awkward. But she went on to say StyleSeat takes too much of her money, and she recommends her clients pay by cash app or zelle. She literally refunded my money, had me pay by cash app. If it hasn’t been so late in the day, and I’d already screwed up by bringing the wrong hair, I would have left. This appeared very shady, as if she was trying to cut out the middle man. She’s based near Plano, TX. The second person was guilty of false advertising. She actually canceled my appointment because she claimed I was misinformed on her prices. That was not the case. After much back and forth by texts, I just chose to delete the app and block her. I did not appreciate that she still managed to contact me trying to plead her case. It really bordered on harassment. This app is pure trash. I actually miss the old days of going in person and paying cash. This stylist is based in far southern Dallas.

Beyond Useful (Only Used for Natural Hair). I really struggle going to a new town and finding hairstylists for natural hair. Especially in smaller, less diversified places. My best shot was to go to bigger cities which is too much of a drive. This app has helped me find hidden gem stylists that were practically down the street, and even going out of town, I can book a stylist before I get there, but is close to my destination! This has been a game changer. Please be aware that it is still a struggle to find natural stylists that aren’t far away, and the app is not perfect when it comes to categorizing stylists. I have also had issues where I decide to pay in cash, I turn off the autopay function then end up getting double charged. A bug I hope they fix without stylist intervention. I get uncomfortable leaving without paying since the app charges after the appointment is over, but the autopay works XD! Fortunately the stylists have been understanding, but it is definitely something to keep your eye on. I can appreciate the respect and protections that the app gives stylists. I also greatly appreciate how it puts them on the map, particularly in the natural hair industry, where they are already hard to find.

Paying $35 and it’s not working for me. I have been with style seat for some years as a professional. When i first decided to use styleseat it was free and kind of basic so i couldn’t complain much about that. But I feel like since I’ve been forced to pay $35 a month this app should be working for me and not me working for myself. I feel like I should have more control over my schedule of what customer can schedule and where. Also i wish when a customer clicks on a service the information for that service automatically pop up. I find my self getting ask question that’s already in the information tab but they don’t know to hit the information to see more. Sometimes it’s not showing customers my availability which gets annoying. I’m Having some major issues as well as other professionals i have spoken to with it being really slow and freezing on a blank screen a lot which slows me down when I’m trying to book an appointment or check my schedule.

Not Business Friendly. I have been using StyleSeat for eight years!! The honeymoon years were great when there was no monthly fee and my clients weren’t charged to booked. After the monthly fee for stylists was set everything about the quality seemed to change. My issue isn’t the monthly fee but it seemed to give StyleSeat a false sense of permission to control my appointments. I’m aware that there is a commission based type booking option but why would I pay StyleSeat for the work I do. Especially if I’m not getting business friendly performance from it. I’ve tried adjusting the premium pricing but it keeps resurfacing. I’ve turned off the auto-checkout and my clients have also but it is still set when my clients book. And it can’t be removed. I don’t accept normally payments thru StyleSeat because there’s another 3% fee on top of the monthly fee I pay and the $1 for booking that my clients pay. But the auto-checkout forces me to accept payment thru StyleSeat and receive a payout minus their cut. And at least 5 times out of the week I try to access my calendar and I literally get a blank screen for extended periods of time. Sometimes i cannot even tell my client what their total is because I’m looking at a blank white screen! I’ve tried resetting the app and I even bought a new phone. I’m at my wits end and ready to switch to another booking application. This app slows me down in checking out clients and it makes me look unprofessional and unorganized in front of my clients.

Not great. Update: StyleSeat now charges clients $1.00 to book online. They made this change without informing stylists or professionals. This is unacceptable. I’ve used StyleSeat since it was free, and I haven’t seen much improvement in the service since I’ve been paying for it. Their server was down last Saturday making it unusable. Any stylist knows how highly inconvenient this is. Their latest scheme is to find new ways to take money from stylists with the Premium Requests and the “advanced marketing;” if you use their payment system, they will take part of your profits. They regularly text my clients asking them for their credit card information, which is not how I like to roll with existing clients. (I appreciate that it’s required for new clients to book online, as a form of no-show protection.). Overall, I appreciate the things it does to make my life as a stylist easier, like appointment reminders and online booking, but I’m beginning to think my life might be better without it. Most StyleSeat users are independent stylists, and we like to be in control. Don’t take that control away, StyleSeat.

SCAM Stylists on this App - BEWARE !. These people have no standards as to who they accept to be on their app. My first experience confirmed my initial apprehension, As soon as I booked the stylist she blocked me! and was a No-Show! She had no intention of showing up. Second experience, I shared the style with the stylist and she said she can do medium sized knotless braids. I booked her (Armani) upon arrival I showed her again to be reminded. But she went ahead and did what she wanted to do and I had to stop her… she had the worst attitude and said she can’t do it like other stylists and I insisted on not paying for what I absolutely do not like while she lied about what she can do only for her to confirm that can’t do it. She ended up leaving… hardly getting my hair done and not willing to get it done right. She left and said ‘I get what I get…’. Had she said she couldn’t do it I wouldn’t have even wasted my time booking this unprofessional snarky little girl. I have to reach out to my bank and Styleseat to void the transaction yet again… all in one week! Save your time… these people use Styleseat to steal money that they don’t care to earn !

Stylists might be scammers. You are risking your time and sanity booking appointments with this app. 90% of the stylists I contact with the app a) don't even know they are on the app (their children or friend set it up for them) b) don't know how to properly use the app or c) will not even show up to your appointment and ignore your phone calls and text messages. I contacted style seat about this and they said they are working on quality control but they are not. This app has had this issue since day one and it hasn't gotten any better. In the very least they can allow users to rate stylists so people know who is good and who isn't. Use this app to find stylists but do not book through the app. Call them, find out if they are legit and book appointment over the phone. Pay them up front, not through style seat. 2022 Update: was looking for a specific natural style and got my money swindled and times wasted again. The app automatically charged me for an appt the stylist cancelled last minute. The stylist said they didn’t receive the money. Style seat says only she can refund me. She says she can’t because she doesn’t know how it works and didn’t get the money. Called my bank to report fraud.

Crappy App and “professionals”. If your professional does not show, it will still charge you and you have to file a complaint though your bank. It no longer allows you to cancel your appointment. This has been the worst app with the worst stylist I have ever dealt with. After my payment clears today from a woman who has an invalid number on her profile and did not answer her door, I’m deleting! Save yourself the issues since the app creators and beauticians have no integrity. Update: I had to completely clear the app and my card. Some lady was able to schedule an appointment without me knowing because I did not get a notification and it set it up prepaid. There should be a required verification for the client when this happens. People can basically make up an appointment, charge you since it doesn’t always let you cancel (even before the required 24 hours) and you have to pay. This is truly the most poorly designed app created by money hungry people who do not care about customers. Just money.

Tired of being harassed into using their credit card system. I’ve been using StyleSeat for over 7 years and it worked great. I used to highly recommend it to my co-workers. They have developed over the years to add a lot more features (yay!) which you could level up to use or elect not to. Then they started adding credit card processing as an elective feature, which was fine at first until my client were constantly being asked for their credit card numbers (even though I do not use style seat for credit card payments and have been reassured multiple times by their support staff that that prompt has been turned off). Most recently, they’ve added a .99 booking fee to the clients for booking with me, WITHOUT MY KNOWING. The result is that my clients are now calling and texting me instead of booking through StyleSeat (because we allllll know how common data breaches are these days...) so I ask, why am I paying for an online booking service when my clients no longer want to use it to book online?? Currently searching for alternatives and hoping StyleSeat will re-evaluate their options and plans. They used to offer a lot of freedom in using their system but have since forced their subscribers to fully adopt them in every area. I’m bummed and frustrated at this point.

1 HUGE problem that NEEDS to be recognized. This would be a 5 Star if this single problem would be fixed. At the moment, there should be an option to not be contacted via Style Seat messages. You cannot reply through the application. I don't want to open a link on my phone(via text message) that takes me to the website, and makes me put all my login info in rather than just opening the Styleseat app. Please make this an option in the future if you cannot make the app itself notify you(like any other app) and takes you straight to messages from the alert. It would also be great if you brought the message icon to the front page upon opening the application, along with a noticeable number indicator of how many unread messages there are. These messages are typically urgent in this industry and it would be nice not to open the messages up (which you can only see if you hit the “more...” button) and have 10 unread messages. Thanks.

Worst app for clients- Encourage stylists to cancel them!!. This is the worst appointment app. My stylist uses it and it’s the only reason why I’m forced to tolerate it. I’m thinking about telling my stylist that I’ll sponsor her appointment app costs if she leaves this company. They automatically charge my card every appointment, even though I have autopay turned off. Sometimes I like to pay in cash or I add services. This makes it hard on my stylist to stop what she’s doing and check it. My appointment is usually not over before it’s already checking me out automatically. Don’t bother reaching out to them because they didn’t respond. They also charge clients for booking appointments, as if it’s our fault that our stylist uses this platform. I highly recommend that stylists steer clear unless you want unhappy clients. Clients, encourage your stylists to use MyTime or other apps that don’t make the client’s life a complete nightmare. Update to dev response: Lies. They’ve literally shown me proof that autopay is not own. It’s also not on my end. Yet, the app checked me out and my appointment still wasn’t over.

Questioning if I should stay. I’ve been using this app for a few years myself. And truly loved it. My problem now is that you already charge me a 35 dollar fee to use the site (no problem)but now your charging our clients a booking fee for $1. It use to be $1 dollar hold that went towards the clients service but now clients are actually getting charged. And if they have more then one service they are not able to book all services at one time- they have to book each service individually and they are being charged a dollars each service. My client just had to pay 6 dollars to book all her services for one appointment . This is a lil out of control now. The app from the phone is not allowing our clients to reschedule appointments without having to completely checking out and comeback in even if they before 24hrs. And as of right now the app has updated and it is really messing up with the glitches! It will not get off the new growth production set up- I’m trying to handle other things and payments and it keeps going back to that. I can’t even send in a trouble shoot because of the glitch - via reason why I’m posting this review as we speak to get help on that. Also needs to me more user friendly to add service from phone. Specially combination services. I do like the app for the most part but need to be user friendly for clients and owners-and stop charging clients these ridiculous fees.

Marketing. This app continues to update in ways to help them receive a higher percentage of the stylist hard earned money. Saying that they promote your business. They claim clients that you have known for years to get a new client fee. They count you out on search rankings based on how much of your money they can get. And penalize you randomly when they have all evidence that the client paid through the app. They promote other stylists while your client is searching through the service list. Then when you make a claim against new clients fees they reply by saying the technology they use show the client searching the website. But we can’t get an update to make the app move faster? The glitch in the schedule availability happens on a regular. It take top speed internet just to get the app to load. They accept appointments from clients who don’t have contact information. So if you need to contact them directly you can’t.

The App Needs Fixing & Better Tech Support. The stylists you find on this app are amazing! But the actual app itself is awful. I can’t see any of my future appointments anymore besides when I’m booking them. They disappear and don’t appear on my “Appts” tab at all. I’ve emailed them about this many times and they just said “well, we can see it on our end, so email your stylist” lol.. the stylist doesn’t control the app and user experience. Luckily I know my stylist personally and can just send a quick text if I need to reschedule or cancel or if I forget the date/time before I’m able to put it on my personal calendar, but since your future appointments no longer show up, you run the risk of not being able to reach your stylist and being charged for missing or being late to any booked appointments. And the tipping feature is awful as well. Why can’t someone add a tip after your stylist checks you out on their end like any other service platform? Waiting for an email or text that may or may not come though is awful. I’ve had times where the text/email never came through and since I don’t carry cash, I have to download cash app/Venmo so I can tip my stylist.

Don’t loose your clients!!. This app works best for only credit card paying customers, but what about teens who get there hair cut every week and don’t have credit cards. By using this app you risk a chance at ostracizing some of your clients and your customers feel unworthy and out of the loop for not knowing how to book an appointment with you unless they have a credit card. My appointments went from 200 a week to 50 a week in a short period because the app by its own doing keeps turning on the “credit card required to book this appointment” prompt. I can’t turn it off and customer support who you can only text, by the way. I have sent the numerous request to turn off the request for credit cards and they have done nothing in response. After using this app for a month I am now having to switch my customers over to a new app that seamlessly let you book an appointment with or without a credit card. That’s up to you. Don’t let this affect your money.

Unauthorized charging and subscribing. The stylist, Natalie, rescheduled my appointment for 45 min later than the original scheduled time (okay, fine), but then we had wait an additional 30 minutes for her after we arrived. Due to this, I chose not to tip her. She then tipped herself through the StyleSeat app (how and why does she have the ability to do that!?) I took this as an expensive lesson to not return to her for service and not use the app to book future appointments. I wanted to leave a review to alert future customers but there wasn’t a link to leave reviews, so I thought surely I’d receive an email to do so. I forgot about the incident until I received an email reminder to rebook so I thought I must have missed the review email, but when I searched my inbox I found no such thing. I emailed StyleSeat’s customer support and they said I didn’t receive the email because I wasn’t subscribed to emails and then subscribed me without permission. When I responded to express my concern with their policies, the return I received was just as unhelpful (actually said they were sorry they can’t help me, the time to leave a review has passed). I will not be using the app in the future and would not recommend.

Doesn’t work at all. No matter what category I enter in the search field, no matter which location, it tells me it can’t find any results. So this app is effectively useless.

Style Seat. I love this app! So convenient and easy to use. Great way to book simply on my own anytime!

Hours. I believe in the app it would be a good idea to allow barbers and stylists to customize hours per one day. Meaning extension of hours for a specific day. I travel a lot and when I come back to the shop I MUST work longer days to accommodate but it is inconvenient for me to book clients in manually because the hours are as normal.

Best Experience Ever!. I’ve been doing hair for 10+ years now and have been using StyleSeat for the past two years. It’s literally been a game changer because I use to struggle with remembering appointments, failing to add appointments to my calendar, having so many people text and call me for appointments! It was all very exhausting after awhile and then BOOM StyleSeat comes along like a superhero saving a civilian from a semi going 100 mph and is about to hit me! I’m so grateful for this platform! It had made my life so much easier, stress free, and convenient for both my clients and myself!!! Thank you thank you thank you StyleSeat

Horrible experience. The app is a great idea in theory but has terrible follow through. In the last 24 hours I have had 2 nightmare appointment situations. I desperately needed an appointment TODAY. And I pressed the location, date/time and style I wanted. Out of the options available, the first gave me a stylist in the wrong CITY (1hr30min) away from me RANDOMLY. It glitches and switches from Richmond to Alexandria. Then I canceled that appointment (while losing my $20 deposit). I rescheduled another appointment that showed up on my calendar AND In “My Appointments” only to vanish today. I showed up for my appointment time and the stylist has no idea who I was and never received any notification of my appointment. I need a stylist right now, school starts in 3 days, my hair is a mess and I no longer trust the app to help me AT ALL. If you are in NEED of an appointment, find another avenue.

iPad and iPod Apps freeze constantly. Freezes and goes blank repeatedly. In addition to freezing, the city never sticks in the search. I have retype the city several times before it sticks. I live in a tri-city/county area so their are 3 cities within 20mins of each other. The search is not intuitive. I also noticed that captions of stylist photos dont match the photo. I don’t know if a recent update shifted captions but I’ve reviewed several profiles where the photo and caption are completely mismatch. For example… the caption says “ braids” and it’s actually a picture of a styled wig. Fix this app! I have noticed stylist use one name on styleseat and may use a different name in a follow up text. This didn’t sit well with me so I cancelled my appt.

Use to love it!. I started using styleseat years ago before it was as popular, back when it was free. Now it’s come so far but not in a good way. The new features are very annoying and it makes booking for my clients difficult. I especially hate the AUTO check out! I feel like this is just a way for styleseat to make more money. Unfortunately it’s causing a lot of problems. Plus there are so many glitches that at this point it’s not worth the $35 monthly fee. Also I’m wondering about how secure it is because a client left a review with a photo on my profile and the next day the selfie she left of her hair was my profile picture !!!!! That makes me feel like styleseat is not as secure as I thought they were. Maybe they have grown a little tooooo much. Not sure, but I’m not feeling it. Definitely searching for a new booking platform. Maybe Square or something like that. Anyways I hope this helps !

Totally undependable!!!. I feel like when it works I want to give it 5 stars and when it doesn’t I want to throw my computer against the wall! It will go for weeks without a problem and then for whatever reason, all I’ll get is a black screen with this lion type design showing up and nothing opening. Usually I will have to go to the website and open it up from there. Today, the website wouldn’t even open! I tried opening it from a previous email I received from Styleseat but that woudn’t work either. Thank goodness I do not use the appointment scheduler because I wouldn’t be able to take any clients and I am already running by string these days I periodically send my client list and formulas to my email so I can open that. But I am out of luck if I want to make additions to clients profiles and formulas that were done today. I am so sad that I am going to have to look for another app!

Do not pre pay. If this is your first time meeting a stylist you are better off calling them and paying outside of the app! Use to find cool stylist but do not give your money upfront! I hope everything is going well with you. I’m so sorry if you were charged even though you weren't able to receive the service you booked. If you need a refund, your professional will need to provide you with one. StyleSeat is the tool beauty and wellness professionals use to manage their business, including charging clients, so we are unable to provide refunds or stop payments on their behalf. Robbery. I have to give it to StyleSeat. I thought they were great in the beginning when I was new to my area and looking for clients. I was getting quite some exposure and at that time their marketing fees were fair. However, as time went on and business started picking up, I noticed they were taking out new “fees” from my earnings and small portions of money that I made would just disappear with no tracings of it like at least 5% every time. I grew tried of not being paid fairly for my 6-10hr services so I started taking payments from other methods. I had to, especially when they started adding marketing fees for clients I already knew and promoting discounts on my services without my permission. And now they taking money from my bank account! If you are a professional, do not use StyleSeat! You’re better off with a more ethical platform.

Slimy app. I will not use any stylist that uses this platform anymore. As a customer using the app. First they charge you just to book an appointment which they never give back even if they cancel the appointment. This doesn’t go the the stylist at all. They keep it. Secondly by just using the app to book an appointment you have to put a credit card in. After the appointment, even if you pay there and tip, they automatically will charge you 20% for a tip which I know they take a share of. The only way you’d know about this is through one email or text where they mention it towards the end and you only have 24 hours to change it. Taking more money from the customer without properly discussing it should NOT BE THE DEFAULT. The designers are clearly leeches pulling the last dollar they can put of you. Especially if you’re not very good with tech.

Not Thrilled So Far. My stylist has starting using this service and I can no longer text her directly - when I text her number, it goes to StyleSeat and I get a canned reply to contact the pro directly. So I downloaded the app in order to contact her to rebook an existing appointment that's not in this system. I sent her a StyleSeat message and am now waiting for a reply. I have not loaded a credit card yet and probably won't do that; using PayPal would be acceptable. Sadly, the credit card rule might mean that I need to change stylists. That's life. As far as the $1 booking fee goes, I suggest that customers delete that from the tip - your stylist chose this service, not you, so the stylist should pay for it. Stylists are probably increasing their fees anyway to cover whatever StyleSeat charges them. That's how business works - the customer ultimately pays for the service provider's expenses because the price includes operating expenses.

Flaws in the app.. One good thing is that it makes it easy to find a stylist. But anything pass that is a disappointment. If your stylist cancels on you they will still take your money and you can’t do anything about it. The help/customer support is nonexistent the website is gone. So if your stylist is late or behind there is no way of asking for a discount. But if you are late or cancel the appointment they will charge you. Everything is for the business and not the customer. It’s a rip off cause they only want your credit card information can’t pay in cash. Things needs to be fixed.

Does NOT Protect Clients. I recently had a horrible experience with a stylist, she was very hostile with me and did a terrible job on my hair, in addition to charging me extra when she was done. I reached out to StyleSeat to see if I could some how be refunded and they proceeded to tell me they have not authority to issue client refunds. So what exactly are the repercussions for stylist who do terrible business, a “stern talking to”??!!? As soon as the service ended she deleted it so I wouldn’t be able to review her (I think she does this often), StyleSeat was also able to verify that this was in fact what she did. Why is this even allowed, especially if the service occurred??!?!? She’s still active on the app, therefore StyleSeat is co-signing her unprofessional behavior, such a slap in my face. They are now losing a client that has been with them since 2014. $210 down the drain.

Hate all the new features they’ve added. I used to love using this booking system but recently with all the new features they have I hate this booking system now. They put this “smart pricing” thing onto EVERY single appointment that my clients make now. It automatically adds an additional 20% to the total of my appointments. I DONT want this. And I have to go through every appointment and delete it. Not to mention to some new clients book appointments and try to prepay but end up paying wayyy more because of this stupid smart pricing. ALSO, this “New Client Feature” should be optional too. Stylseat says they “keep 35%” of YOUR appointment price to “invest into marketing for you”… I DONT want this!! At least give us the OPTION to have these features. definitely reconsidering looking for another booking system. They are KEEPING your refunds and won’t actually refund your clients.

Used to be okay, has become very buggy. This app used to be okay, but now it works so incredibly poorly. Random crashes, some collections of appointment times don’t scroll... Months later and it still hasn’t been optimized for the iPhone X?? If I could, I would post screenshots of just how terrible it looks on this phone. On certain pages there are giant areas of white space on the top and bottom as if there should be a navigation bar that just isn’t there.... It’s like I’m just looking at poorly developed website pages loaded in an iPhone app. For such an important app that I need and that I know my barber relies on for the success of her small business, the technical work is pretty amateur. If I didn’t already use it there is no way I would start now and search for a hair professional to trust on an app that feels cheap and broken. Would honestly be happy to work on this for you since your team obviously isn’t doing their job....

I Love yessey !!!!. Yessey is THE BEST !!!! She has been taking care of my hair for almost three years now and i love her work. Her seamless blending skills are to die for and she’s all about maintaining the integrity of your hair. I’ve done my hair with another stylist once and went blonde on one visit and she fried my hair. Needless to say... it didn’t take toooo long before i went to CVS and died my hair black to hide the damage. When i started with yessey it was because of color correction and little by little she’s corrected my mishap (because i use to love giving myself highlights). The moment i went blonde with yessey... i LOVED IT ! My hair was so healthy and shiny and vibrant. She takes care of my hair like no other!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! You’ll love her 😍

Not happy. Should have read the stylist reviews first!. I’ve had this app a total of 3 weeks and have lost money! I’ve gained 2 new clients but I’m an established 40+ year stylist. I was looking for an app that would allow me to work and not have to stop to make appointments. Those clients that were a no show wouldn’t matter because I’d still get paid. 12 hours later I’m still waiting for an auto pay. I tried to remove the tip from one auto pay client and it refunded all of her money. I “made” over $300 in one day and my net at the end was less than $150! Send an email…no response. I feel like I’m working on commission! That one rime 15% has turned into much more. I will be looking for something else or going back to my old way. This app is garbage! I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but when it comes to my money, I don’t play. You’ve lost a user for sure!

Over it!. Started out being the BEST ever!!! Now the constant changes and charges are ridiculous!!! I am paying faithfully EVERY month and now my customers are being charged $1 booking fee. They didn’t ask for me to use this app!!! So why are they being charged. So if they book ten appointments for the month, that’s $10 but if they chose to cancel 5 early without being charged, then they just lost $5. I clearly don’t understand. Someone is money hungry!!!!! My clients are being pimped!!! Then I don’t like this booking fee for a sooner appointment. I don’t get that extra money. I still have to look and see if I can fit them in... so I’m not understanding why styleseat get a cut of that money if I book them. Confused! Now I am being asked to update my social security number and my EIN number that I have just provided a month ago. I’m not going to keep giving out my social security number. I’m just over this app!!!

Try Another App. This app glitches all the time. Right now I can’t cancel an appointment through the app that is next week. Stylist often don’t get notified when you book. They have to cancel your appointment to avoid you getting auto check out. Customer service is very unhelpful. And specifically on this app stylist are demanding deposit that are sometimes the cost of the service and non refundable. There a $1 fee to book and you’re charged if you don’t cancel outside of the 24 hour window. This makes sense but I don’t want to have to prepay stylists for there work. Edit: I understand how to use the app. I contacted customer service and was told they are busy. My appointment still doesn’t change when I hit the cancel button meaning I will be charged even though I’ve tried diligently to cancel outside of the 24 hour window.

Worse app ever. This app is completely useless. Every time you log on it takes you back to the Home Screen and never logs you on. Major glitch and I have tried everything and it still does not work. Also think this is a money grab. I thought okay I have to pay a fee no problem but after talking to my stylist about the app, it turns out she pays a fee as well! So both stylist and client have to pay to use this? Never heard of that before. You would think since they are making money each way that they could at least provide a better app to service both stylists and clients but no, that is too much like right. I book directly through my stylist now and thats sad because I thought StyleSeat was pretty good. Get this app together and I’ll be back but not a minute before.

What you should know. I used StyleSeat for nearly 5 years. It had its moments where it was crashing from time to time or glitches. But for the most part I didn’t mind the hiccups. Recently, ON TOP of the month my fee I’m charged, StyleSeat decided that every single client that books online has to pay $1 every time they book. I offered to pay double in order to keep this fee off of my clients. I have an all male clientele as a barber. Some of my clients come once a week! Even more come every other. I was told this fee will help me have more clients book and pay for the special features. Give me a break! All it’s done is cost me time. My clients are NOT happy and will not pay it, therefore I have to stop about 10 times a day now and book appts. Other stylist in the salon are now switching from StyleSeat because their clients are just as unhappy about. These companies get on my nerves with all their greedy fees. I’d suggest finding a software that offers the same features and save your clients the hassle.

Been with them since the beginning, it’s gone down hill. I’ve been with style seat as a business owner for years. I’m disgusted how they run do business. When I went with styleseat years ago, the service was free to use. And 2 years into it, they gave me a couple weeks notice that I have to start paying 35 a month or I would lose service. They went from free, to the most expensive out of all of their competitors. Hmm. As aggravated as I was, it’s a real pain to switch 600 clients to a new service. I decided it wasn’t worth switching to save 10 a month. Now they are getting even greedier, they are charging my clients a dollar every time they book. What? Clients are complaining now and I’m forced to switch apps. Shame on you, what an awful awful company. Try gloss genius, it’s amazing! But all the others are just as good or better for less money. Thanks for the memories style seat!

Definitely not scam proof. Not sure how or why but my “stylist” book an appointment for me at 11:45pm and all the cards associated with my account were attempted to be charged. I had no communication with said stylist since my last appointment over 2 months ago and never agreed for a future booking that I could have done myself. I wasn’t able to cancel this appointment myself in the app and the chat assistant wasn’t helpful at all. Under no circumstances should someone be allowed to book an appointment for you when you’re responsible for cancellation fees. Now both of my cards are compromised and need to be replaced. Oddly the address for the stylist is different in the confirmation email vs. the website or app to book. Her account could have been hacked or she’s running the scam. Nonetheless I won’t be using this service again

True Professional. Greetings all, I have been a client of Big Kev for just about 6yrs now. He’s a true professional, a perfectionist and passionate about his craft. Kevin always keeps me on point. I won an award and was given a banquet to honored in which I was given a plaque and there will be plaque that reside at our headquarters building in which my plaque will be displayed amongst all the others for public display. My picture is engraved on the plaque with Big Kev’s mastery beard work which he eloquently pointed out to me one day when I was in chair, lol. As long as have my health, full mobility and access to Big Kev he will always be master Barber. Big ups and mad respect Kev!

Worst experience every time. This app is built to support the hair dresser and the hair dresser only. There’s zero access to customer service or any type to report or help with fraudulent situations. During communication with a hairstylist, they took it upon themselves to book an appointment on a date of their choosing and it was a passed date. The system automatically charged the card on file. The hair stylist stopped communicating. No way to report them or get a refund. That’s the 2nd time. The first time, we selected a barber at a shop and when we arrived the shop was closed and moved to a new location. Arrive at that location and no one heard of them. Again no way to get a refund because the app is built to take your money instantly with no option to return. Hate this app and will never recommend or use it again.

Easily one of the best hair stylists in Jacksonville. After relocating from Miami it took me two years to find an honest and skilled hairstylist that didn’t do natural hair begrudgingly. If you’re thinking about booking an appointment pull the trigger already. She’s very patient and kind. She also is very in tune with trends in the beauty community and regularly takes classes to sharpen her skills. I think her prices are fine given that her skill set is advanced. With any beauty service you truly get what you pay for. Cutting corners leads to lackluster knowledge and techniques. She uses products you’d find at any salon on Lincoln drive. I’ve been a client for almost two years now and she’s still as caring and gifted as ever.

Love her!!. I’ve had four sessions with Kim in the last year and she never fails me. Each time I ask her for something different and the end result is better than what I had envisioned. I love it that she takes my ideas and then turns it into something that works well with my hair. She’s always working with your hair and not against it, so listen to her...she will not steer you wrong. And for those of you like me who doesn’t know all the lingo and methods of hair coloring, she’s the perfect stylist because she’ll speak in laymen’s terms until you understand what she’s doing to your hair. I can go on and on about how great she is but until you’ve had a session with Kim, you won’t fully understand it. Go book your appointment now...she books up fast.

What happened?. I have been a styleseat customer for years. I’ve always loved the app. It’s help me keep my business organized. In the last six months or so and I’ve been happy with the app at all. For the same price that I’ve been paying, my clients no longer get confirmations for their appointments unless they give a credit card. I don’t want to ask that of my clients. I did not realize this was happening with the app until I started having clients missing appointments because they were not confirmed. However, I had clients that did not want to put their credit card down. I had a couple of little mishaps with the app so another. It’s too bad because it was pretty perfect for me before.

Good Experience. I arrived on time for my appointment and the seat was open. I like that I didn’t have to wait long. Slim is very professional and very good at his craft. I wasn’t sure of the cut I wanted so he asked me if i wanted to be able to comb thru or brush thru my hair which gave me a visual pic of what I wanted. Being a female I wanted a softer razor cut around my edges as well. The shop was clean and neat. There where several other barbers working with a mixed race of clients. The atmosphere was lively and I enjoyed the short time I was there. Slim had my cut done in about 15 minutes as I wanted it! I was referred by Ann who I met and complimented on her beautiful haircut while shopping. Definitely will be going back. Thanks Slim.

It’s starts off okay. This quickly becomes something different than you think clients will be asking about this fee and that fee clients being forced to put a credit card in the system clients that have appointments get text messages about earlier appointments but then StyleSeat attempts to extort money from the client to take the earlier appointment.. I paid the extra to avoid this kind of thing feel I pay enough for the service that My clients don’t need a shake down and be hit with styleseat random added fees. Very disappointing to think I now have to move booking program.. style seat attempts to make this sound like it’s a help to me to charge my clients or keeps my pockets full but I’m not buying it. I will be shopping it around and finding something else that better fits mine and my clients needs and will encourage all my colleagues to do the same

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!. A stylist on this platform booked me without my consent and charged my card for the services as if they were done. This was done overnight as I slept in my bed mind you. Have never booked or had contact with this stylist. This seems to be an ongoing problem with customers being charged days after they cancel appointments even within the cancellation window. Stylist themselves also seem to get screwed over by this app holding funds and changing policies at whim. At the end of the day I was able to dispute with my bank and recover the funds, but I will never be trusting this platform again. If you save your credit/debit (which is mandatory I believe to book services and pay deposits) just know you are incredibly susceptible to literal fraud. There is no vetting of stylists of any kind which allows for bad actors to potentially create stylists accounts and charge random people for services. Very bad. Account deleted.

Update your app. I would not recommend using style seat. After having the app, I have had to deal with stylist canceling without proper reason and then because my card is linked being charged when I wasn’t even serviced. The app no longer shows good intentions for the customers using the app but only the stylist. Mind you, you also cannot book any form of an appointment without having your card linked allowing them to hold a $1 for the appointment and then automatically charge you after a certain time has elapsed after your appointment. The app needs work, and maybe it will eventually get there I won’t know because I’m definitely deleting my account. If I want to book with a stylist I’ll do it the old way and reach out no need for this third party to be involved that doesn’t work.

Instant deposit not so instant. I’m a professional using this as my booking site. As for clients booking and locating me, it’s great. What I strongly dislike is when you have an issue, there is no way to contact anyone about the issue. Like right now, I’m having issues with my instant deposit where it’s stuck on the “next” screen and I’m not able to get my money deposited. And to add more frustration, it’s Friday and the standard deposit won’t be until Monday. The month fee on top of other fees that you’re charging, there shouldn’t be issues like this, but that’s not likely, but at least have provide a way to talk to a live person to try to fix the issue. I am strongly thinking about finding a better site to use.

They don’t care about their professionals, someone hacked my account!. I absolutely hate this customer service. No one ever responds to you the only way to contact anyone is through email ! I’ve made several attempts and also sent screenshots of my incident. Someone named CALVIN PALMER SCAMMED MY ACCOUNT AND STOLE MY MONEY. I’m afraid because there is lack of security how can someone hack into my account and change my banking information. I waited all day for my deposit I even called my bank and they advised me that there was no money being deposited to my account from StyleSeat on April 25, 2020 . I originally had it set for instant same day deposit which was supposed to have came on April 24,2020 after I serviced my client but the system kept glitching and never deposited my funds until I saw it late last night going to an account I never seen before . I’m very upset. My issue has not been resolved and I fear that someone will steal all of my hard earned money !

Currently Horrible Service. I’ve been with Styleseat for a few years now, and I must be honest with you it has gotten bad. This year has been the worst for me with this booking app. From forcing my clients to add a card, not having a direct phone contact, not honoring constant requests to stop the force of my customers to adds card. At this point it’s greed. Styleseat wants to profit from your customers more than you do. They are charging a subscription fee to the stylist and $1 booking fee without a notice to each customer I book. Unacceptable! The sad thing is I received no notification of this change. The only way to communicate is by email. I’ve lost customers and income using this app. Oh and today my customers showed me a email with them offering to move their appointment up for a $10 non refundable fee. Which goes to them! I would have never known if my clients did ask me. So, please save yourself the constant headache. Do not use this App!!!! -Robyn

Crashes and Adds Complications to Receiving Pay. I understand this is my experience only but if you choose to make your decision on this app from any review let it be mine. Why? Better safe than sorry!! This app crashes every single day!!! I’m constantly deleting and redos loading. But that’s not the worst part!!! I’ve submitted my social three or four times to revive my pay from clients I have already serviced and there keeps being an error. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my social. Secondly the fees are veryyyyyy unclear!! I don’t know what I’m being charged for but seems differently daily!! I’ve tried to contact support, google support number … NOTHING!! Right now I’m waiting on $200 to be deposited that I’ve been waiting on for a number of days even though I have been approved for next day deposits!! This app is dangerously suspect!!! I feel I will never receive my clients pay! BEWARE!! There are many other apps that perform wayyyyyy better!!

I'm over it. I've been using StyleSeat for quite some time Now and I must say from the monthly cost, and sending out a message to clients saying they can power book is annoying. I also don't even take payments using the app why is it checking clients out when I don't have a card saved so where is the money going? I've had to refund a few people because the app will check them out without giving me a option to change payment. Yes I like the booking feature and being able to book clients a month out but if I leave a spot open i left it open for a reason. For example the service I'm doing says I'll be done at 12:45 why let someone book online directly at 12:45 for COVID-19 reasons we're only allowed one client to a stylist at a time I have to keep changing peoples appointments also it won't notify me that someone booked but will notify me that they are being automatically checked out. Charging $40 a month now is not worth it to me

Going down bad….. The monthly fee is one thing, but I was charged $8+ for one service of $102, because my client decided to checkout through their system and they agreed to pay an up charge for their service. I sat down and went over all the fees that I pay monthly and the amount was sickening. I am definitely looking into other options, as after the past 7 years StyleSeat has continuously found ways to nickel and dime stylists. Claiming to send me clients to keep 30% of the service fee when I would personally send clients my personal link or even for people that I’ve known all of my life, such as my sister! StyleSeat makes claims to “work for you”, but will literally send your clients coupons to sway them to book with others. How is that ethical?!… StyleSeat has gone done bad! The referral fee is gone and the 1st month free trial is gone as well, which is fine, but there really aren’t many incentives now.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I don’t typically write reviews but for the outrageous monthly price all I have to say is don’t waste your time or money on this. I was super excited to use this for booking but there’s more problems with this and it’s both worth the time. You have to manually enter every card number because they don’t have any type of card reader and don’t have any plans on getting one either. They also have a save card option to save the clients card number and automatically charge them an hour after their service ends which is supposed to help save time and the awkwardness of the tip and what not. Would be really cool except it doesn’t work and I was out $150 for services that didn’t get charged. This system isn’t worth $35 or the time you have to put in adding all your services. I wish I didn’t waste my time and just went with square appointments from the beginning.

Love it. I’ve been happy with this app. I’ve been using it for probably 7 years? I’m such an old school fan of the paper appointment book, but this was great for me. I can access the app from anywhere without carrying my book. I really liked the original look and format the best. I thought it was much more user friendly. I’m not interested in using the credit card feature so that’s kind of a pain to change payment type every time. And it has been a little glitchy this last week on my phone but not on the computer. All in all I think it’s a great app. I spend $25/month and I’m able to track my clients better.

Not a good booking site anymore. So basically if your clients don’t check out by credit card it’s a problem with style seat because they are not benefiting from it. They sent me a notification letting me know my profile was at risk because my clients aren’t checking out via credit card. And they shadow ban you also I have a 4.9 rating I tried to show a potential client my profile on her phone and my profile did not pop up other stylists that has basically a low profile showed instead of mine. They have become very money hungry they make our clients pay between $2-$3 to book sometimes they make your client agree to pay an extra 20% on certain days but they have to check out via style seat so they can get a cut of your money that you worked hard like the $35 we pay every month isn’t enough…

They rob you. Style seat is by far the worse!!! I have used this app for a while not as a professional it has robbed my time and money. Even from my clients!! Forcing fees, double charging my clients for fees they never knew they were gonna get hit with! I am seriously disturbed and distraught by my experience with this app and at this point I will no longer be using this crap ever again!!!!! I pray God has mercy on this company because the CEO think because she made Forbes she not gonna reap what she sows you will indefinitely!!! My business was gonna crash had I kept using this app and relying on this for bookings for my business!!! Rather your a client or a professional DONT USE THIS APP!!! this has nothing to do with bitterness I’m warning you all who even giving this any kind of thought do not use it!!! As a professional to trust this company to represent you on a booking and handling you money intake level you will see more losses then gains!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😢

The Goddess is Brilliant!. Initially, I booked through the visiting from out of town and I’m so grateful that I was able to get locked in with this incredible, passionate and very talented Stylist. Goddess is an amazing stylist, beautician and is very knowledgeable. She is very meticulous in the quality of her work. She went above and beyond my expectations by making sure I was satisfied in my experience. Her level of expertise has provided me a life changing hair assessment at my initial consultation. Based on her analysis, I was able to establish a long-term hair care plan that is conducive with my hair goals. I have every reason to come back to book more appointments the first chance I get and I look forward to becoming a long-term client.

Fine if you know the provider. I literally only use this app to book with my regular hairstylist who left her salon and went freelance. The first time I used Style Seat a few years back, it wasn’t clear if payment was going to be automatically made via the app so I just sent my stylist her tip via Venmo. Ultimately I had to send a separate payment via Venmo for the full service since she was never paid through the app, even though my credit card info was updated. Now I just pay her fully on Venmo and never interact with the app beyond booking appointments. I’ve also never been able to successfully leave a review for her in the app. Overall, this app is glitchy and not user-friendly for the customer, and based on the other reviews, it’s a pain for service providers too.

Toya is everything!!. I have been going to Toya for a year and a half and I love her! She takes her time to get to know all of her clients and what they like and don’t like. There have been many times I’ve been undecided on a hairstyle and she has come through every time. Even when she is in a hurry, your hair will always been slayed to the Gods!! She is a professional and loves what’s she does. She has a passion for hair and will not leave you unsatisfied. I had never had my hair cut into a short style ever. She changed my life and from the beginning, I trusted her. She has made me feel like a new person every time I’ve left her!! Thank you Toya!!!!

Poorly done app, but helpful. Slow/not smooth UX & generally looks like a cheaply thrown together app. However, my biggest issue is the add to calendar functionality. Now, it forces you to subscribe to their calendar feed instead of just putting it as a regular event. Nonsense to begin with, but then you have to re subscribe every single new appointment or if you reschedule. So you have multiple calendars you’re subscribed to. This is extremely irritating because add to calendar functionality is very basic at this point. A simple clickable format in the confirmation email (where it has the date/time and clicking on it automatically brings up iCalendar) would work. Doing too much and annoying to worry if I’m missing an appointment.

Great app but it CAN BE BETTER!!. Guys we’re in 2019, it’s time for you to have a Customer service telephone number! This back & forth emailing is really annoying. Secondly, why do you continue to allow persons to book appointments with no money on their cards? The other day I had a client who said she was in a rush & left before I could check out her card, when I did the card kept declining now I’m frustrated because I have to keep calling this client in order to get my money! Come on styleseat do better! For $35 I shouldn’t be experiencing any of the above problems! Also, can we have a feature where you can upload photos along side the each service you are providing? I’d really appreciate that.

SO MUCH SPAM. The app is self is not bad and the concept is there but my God do they spam you with some thing on your screen every five seconds. I can barely even look through a persons account without something popping up in my face and trying to exit it and then end up exiting the entire persons account or store. If the app is supposed to be easy and seamless they need to figure out a way to stop popping stuff up in your face every second it’s very annoying and it makes you literally not want to be on the app. in addition I actually booked through the app, to which the stylist I saw was over two hours late in doing my hair. I don’t like how 20% gratuity is automatically added especially if the hairstylist themselves does not do a good job. Completely unfair..

An Gibson is TALENTED AND PLEASANT TO BE AROUND. An has colored my hair and cut and style. Consistently beautiful job. I’ve been her client for about 6 months now. My mother also sees her. She was so pleased with her Cut, style, and color. Took years off and she just loves it. Now my mother-in-law sees her when she comes to visit. An is positive, fun to be around, and she has a good eye and talent for color, cut, and style. I’ve watched her accept a walk-in. A very young boy who wanted a fade and...I don’t recall the lingo. He was adorable! He was anxious a few times. An helped make it fun and quick and his style was exactly what he and his mom wanted. She did a wonderful job. And she doesn’t share her salon with anyone. Regardless, she isn’t catty or gossipy. Look no further! I highly recommend An!

If I could give ZERO stars I would…. This is definitely the worse company I have EVER used for appointment settings. One day I went to log into my account to see my appointments for the day and I was completely locked out.I’ve repeatedly tried forgot my password in order to reset the password and check my appointments but it never worked. Over the course of two weeks it never worked and all of a sudden it let me reset the password, but I had already created me an acuity account. I canceled the StyleSeat account in March 2021. In January 20 22 out of nowhere StyleSeat debited my bank account in the amount of 200+ dollars. They are a scam and very fraudulent. Many other stylus from many other states have complained about the same things happening. PLEASE DO NOT USE!!!! They don’t respond to you when email is sent out to ask for assistance.

Bye styleseat hello Vagaro!. First and foremost I want to start off by saying I really loved this app when I first used it almost 2 years ago, it was super easy to figure out and my clients LOVED how user friendly it was! BUT... styleseat has changed, all this company cares about is making money and sadly now they are making money off clients as well. They started coming out with ‘new features’ some of them were good and some were just a waste of time. Now they are charging clients a $1 booking fee, when this was never communicated to me and was not what I agreed on when signing up for this app. I have over 350 clients that have used this app to book an appointment and unfortunately I will be giving my business to Vagaro, an app that doesn’t charge clients to book. To the bot that is going to respond to this do yourself a favor and relay this feedback to your customer service team, OH YEAH I forgot they don’t have a customer service team.

Glitches & customer service is terrible. I used this app about a year ago and switched back because of how great and simple it was to use. Since switching back, my app glitches a ton! I post promotions and they don’t show up, and once they do, it shows the dates are changed. I noticed after I canceled my subscription that I was still charged for the month, so I emailed customer service to ask for a refund. I was offered a free month, then two, but in no email did they clarify anything about what I had originally emailed about (Deleting my account and receiving a refund), until I was told my account was cancelled, but still no clarification about a refund. So I had to ask again and was finally told they don’t issue refunds for subscriptions. Worst customer service experience. I will not be using this scheduling platform again!
