Do not update or Purchase. Was a 5 star audio testing utility prior to its update which has severely crippled the functionality and usability experience making a simple task like a Tone Sweep cumbersome and annoying. Check out Signal Generator by Media Punk Studios for a fantastic audio testing utility, which closely resembles this applications interface before it was updated and destroyed.

Doesn’t work at all. Opened it today for the first time in a while and it doesn’t work. At all. Reads zero on all dials. Checked microphone permissions and settings, deleted and reinstalled, nothing worked. Completely broken.

Does what it needs to do!. Like using the app to help me decide how loud I can monitor stuff. Works just fine

Well made quality app. Seriously one of the coolest apps I love to show people. It’s really helpful and really well built. Developers always keep it updated. And I dig the new features. Definitely a good app to get!

Decibel. Works well. Can you get measurements up to 140 dB? This one seems to max out around 105. Try breeding parrots; loudest noise you'll ever hear and live to talk about it.

Decibel meter pro. I love using this app! It is accurate, dependable and very easy to use. I use it wherever I go in the classroom, concert hall or different various venues that have loud sound. It is a great reference to determine if you are in an environment that is safe for your ears. I love this app!

Musician. It is helpful. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it does give me some guidance for evaluating sound levels.

Fun for restaurants.. Yes, they really are as awful as they seem, and with this app you have the data to prove it. Also, if you have inconsiderate neighbors you can document that. A fun little app that delivers on its premise.

Used to set up surround. This meter was used to set up my surround. It worked very well and it was easy to use.

🤙. Does the job. Simple and easy. 🤙

Latest Update fails to request mic access. The update that just occurred does not request mic access. Thus the app can’t take sound readings, nor is there a way under “privacy->microphone” to turn it on... I love this when it works...

Can't access microphone. Latest version greets you with an error message that can't access the microphone even though access is granted.

Great for Cranky People. Just how irritated should you be? Get a purely objective answer with this nifty little meter.

Tools that work. Great job saves room as an app use it in classroom to check sound level Shop Teacher !

Great app for audiophiles and others. If you're trying to get your speakers placed Just Right this app will help you spot dead zones and bright reflective spots. As an added bonus it is a great tool in teaching your child the difference between talking and yelling. Highly recommended.

Measure how loud I can shout about this app!. I like this app, and use it in my work and recording. I like the more recent update as well.

Settles arguments about noisy environments. I set my tolerance threshold for restaurants at 70 dB. If the sound level is above that my dinner party has a choice: find another venue or, if the food is good, welcome a non-participant at the table.

Still Works Well. Good way to measure my hearing level against the reading detected from this app. I can tell just by listening just how loud or quiet my surroundings are.

Excellent. I love apps like this. Not only a great meter but the design and aesthetic is fantastic. Lots of options and super intuitive. Well worth the small price. Great job!

Great App, works perfectly and I keep finding new uses. Fun and useful! Just used the app to decide on a new car for my wife, who is sensitive to noise. Even though I don't use it professionally, I keep finding handy uses for it.

Playing trombone with full sound. Having brass wind players monitor volume is a useful tool. This app does an excellent job of giving a visual level of blowing thru a horn.

Like the app BUT. All seemed to work as expected though db was a bit lower than expected. However, starting and restarting the app seems to occasionally change the mic calibration/sensitivity. Without any change in the environment, most of the rime it will say about 30 db, but maybe every 4th or 5th off/on cycle it will read about 50 db instead of 30 (which is thought to be the more accurate value). So comparing readings between off on cycles will not be reliable and I do not have much confidence in the absolute values being provided.

Does what I need. I have tinnitus and am very sensitive to noise. This app lets me determine whether ambient sound is merely annoying or destructive to my hearing. Thanks to the developer for this app!

Great. For what it does. No spectrogram; nothing like that- this is a simple dB meter. And it works great for what it is. UI is fine and functional.

Need directions. What are the other meters?

Best Value. This app saved me hundreds of dollars. I got a ticket for loud pipes on my motorcycle so I use this application and I have a dozen other common sound levels, among them a 50 mL Vespa scooter, a household blender and a vacuum to show that they’re standard for a noise level was excessive and I beat the ticket.

Not working. This was a wonderful app but did it recently stop working? I can’t get it to work at all 🤷🏻‍♂️

Noise control. Always available when I need it !!

Easy to use app!. I am a very casual user (“How loud are those cicadas?” [83 dB]). This is a handy app, even if you only have occasional uses.

Fine. Accurate and very responsive.

Readings are way too low. I downloaded dbmeter pro along with one other decibel reader program. I also have a handheld decibel reader that I have used for some time. The dbmeter pro program consistently recoded readings 15 a 20 decibels less than the other two. Common logic tells me that when I am in a room where the music is very loud, the other program as well as my hand-held recording 90 dbs are much more accurate than the average 74 reading on dbmeter pro.

Excellent App. Works well. Nice design. Only suggestion is to put explanation of dbA dbB dbC and dbZ in the help. There are some excellent links online, but I was expecting at least a general summary in the help.

Useful. Very useful to measure sound levels to protect hearing.

Convenient. Handy app to have. It's surprising how much ambient noise we have trained ourselves to ignore every day. No wonder everyone over 60 has a hearing aid.

Haven't tried it. Didn't get a chance to try it, yet was asked to rate it. Gave it one star, it did open correctly.

Sound measurement Star. Good app, works really well and seems to be correct in all environments. Try it you will like it.

Easy to use. Dial is easy to see and it records max. Wish I knew how accurate it is.

Great app. I work in potentially noisy environments and dB Meter Pro is a VERY easy and intuitive app to give management input on areas that need noise control attention

False Sense of Security. This app seems to underreport the actual loudness of sounds by quite a bit, which could lend the user to listen at unsafe levels. As far as I could tell, it reads 80-85db sounds around 70db. Try the free app “dBMeter” instead, seems much more accurate

Only okay. The meter works, but it’s only useful in the moment. It doesn’t track or hold any info. For instance, if you want to know how many decibels you were exposed to during the last hour, this is useless. #1, it only stays on as long as your screen is set up to stay awake, so to test an hour-long music class, for example, you’d have to change your phone settings to never auto-lock. #2, it will show the max decibel in whatever time period you left the display open, but there’s no way to see how long the sound stayed at that decibel. So let’s say the dial says the max was 103 decibels. Well, the World Health Org says you won’t get hearing damage if that 103 decibels was for less than 45 seconds, but unless you were staring at the dial for the entire time and counting in your head, you would have no clue what that max # means. If you leave the screen for any reason, like to answer a call, it resets to zero. It doesn’t test what the actual metric of hearing damage is measured by: both decibels and length of exposure

Good tool. This app has been very helpful for me in my work. It is surprisingly accurate.

Simple to use for everyday situation. This app is very simple to use, nothing to learn. Launch the app and see decibel readings with various weights.

No monthly fee!. Before trying this one I downloaded three other DB meters. In order to try them out they all required agreeing to monthly fees that began after brief trial periods of less than a week. Imagine having to pay $8 or $9 a month for an app you use occasionally! This app wanted a small one time fee up front which I agreed to.

Quite a cool little app!. This app works quite well to let me know what I am doing to my hearing.

Great app. I am a music teacher and also play on a band. Needless to say my ears are very important to me. I use the app to help my students realize just how loud they are playing. I use the with the band to find dead spots in the rooms we play so we can have better speaker placement

No complaints. When I don't have my actual meter handy, this is great for a ballpark calibration of your monitoring setup.

Great app!. I used this app to determine workplace safety for noise issues from pumps and machinery. It was quite accurate when compare with established standards used by our compliance group.

Efficient. Easy to use. Functional and accurate. Visually receptive. Great app

Davehammer44. I checked this app against 3 db meters from local stereo shops and a radio sh*ck... It was very consistent and accurate within the levels the built in mic allowed. I love it, and use it often. Great jod, and thank you!

Keeps asking to allow microphone. App keeps asking to allow access to the microphone but there’s no option in setting to allow. Just Siri and mobile data.

Useful. Handy app to give an indication as hard to calibrate, would be nice to have average over time function

Good value. Low cost, easy to use, works well

Couldn't ask for better. The app does exactly what it says, which is exactly what I needed.

Not bad.. Really want a graph export

No iPhone 5 compatibility any more. Won't update to new version....

Noise meter. Excellent! I could not ask for more, but one needs to know how to use it!

Reasonable. Could be improved by allowing average values over a short period of time rather than just instantaneous readings. I have no idea how accurate it is but the readings seem reasonable.

Waste of time. I want my money back!. This meter is useless if there is any background noise. Not enough adjustment to de-sensitise. Wasn't expecting it to be accurate, but with 3-4 friends aorund talking, the meter was at the top of the scale 90% of the time making it useless.

Half useful. The problem with all of these apps is they only give real time data, would be much more useful if it included a trace of say last 3 minutes so that the sound can be analyzed, and saved for future reference, if this could be built in it would be a killer app.

Great for Harley noise comps. If you’re into load pipes you can compete using the meter to judge😀

Nice clean app. Easy to use still need to calibrate. Use in live sound environment. Would like the slow setting for sensitivity to be smoother... Less jerky. Also a max hold level for average reading would be nice to have. Doctor Dave

Decibel meter. Simple and workable guide for measuring the impact of sound. This is an interesting tool to start to understand the levels of sound around us. This is great app and delivers on its ability to measures sound.

Jono. Application very poor. Should be used as a toy only. I don't see any situation where this app would be of any use in real life. Other apps seem to be much more accurate.

Great. :)

Useful. Still tweaking, but appears to meet my needs. Not looking for formal readings, but good enough for general comparisons of noise / sound levels. In my case related to aviation sound levels.

Db app. Nice and simple to use great for a quick reference

Awesome. Very useful for me.. Its accurate

Stormy. This is a handy app. Has been useful for me to have something to use to get an idea of various environments sound levels.selectable weighting is great.easy to use.

Great App. Useful app. While not "calibrated" it is useful for an indication

Won’t Install. Even though they say it will install on iPhone 5 it won’t. As I just tried to update from previous version on my iPhone I'm getting a warning that I can’t update on my phone, a iPhone 5. What gives?

Ok. I love the app but UPGRADE SO IT CAN BE USED FOR IPHONE 5!!!

No recording. Simply it can’t save the noise into an audiogram to playback.

Correct.

Trades man. Works great at work so i know when i need double hearing protection

Not a good app. No support on their website and no updates

Love It!. I don't use the app often but when I do it is bang on I love it

DB meter. Great way to monitor the noise in the work place, be it inside, outside, in a vehicle or around heavy equipment or machinery.

Not satisfied.. Although the interface is nice, and offers nice features such as calibration. It is not accurate at all. Tested it in a very quiet room, where I am supposed to be getting 30 db, but instead it's reading it in 50s!!! Even with the calibration, it is not enough, the readings is just way off!

Excellent. Very smooth app. Would recommend it to everyone.

App. Great app. Thanks for a free app !

Works as Advertised. Without a calibration standard, all measurements are only relative.

Skip it unless you have brand new. Used to be good, but they've updated it to where I can't use it. Glad I got it free or I would be quite angry.

RC plane engine noise. I fly RC planes and use the meter to prove to onlookers that we are operating within proscribed acceptable noise levels...takes the guess work out of the equation!

Excellent App. I use it in live music to balance the amps on stage, works great for me and the audience.

Useless. I have a number of test .wav files containing sound in the 17.5 -19 KHz range. This app doesn' t "hear" anything in any of the frequency weightings available, while all the other (free) dB meters I tried, correctly detected the power output of the speaker (60-70 dB). Total waste of money. Uninstalling right now. Note: This is not something specific to this app since all the others seem to suffer from the same issue, but in standardazied measurement methologies, the Max is never greater than the Peak. Developers, better do your homework before asking $ for your crap. It's obvious now why this app doesn'thave a free version for testing: nobody would pay a dime for this nonsense.

Directeur. Facile à utiliser et relativement précis.

Very Useful. This is a simple App that gets right to the point. All you need to know about volume and sound at a quick glance. Two thumbs up!

Safety lead. Not so good I have to calibrate it all the time and it still not that accurate.

Not bad. It seams to work but without something calibrated to compare it to who knows.

Perfect!. It's perfect.

Five thumbs up!!!. Love new update, great working and looking app. Use on my iPhone and Apple Watch

Sound meter. Needs to be zeroed and have sensitivity set before it works best, but once set, seems to perform well.

Decimal User. This app is really fantastic. Download it now.

Handy. Visually appealing, works very well!

Not accurate!. It is impossible for this app to be accurate. In a closed bathroom in the middle of the night just sitting there it read 60db. Ridiculous!!! It is nicely done for the graphics portion but for accuracy as a sound meter it is worthless. I definitely feel cheated out of 99 cents + tax.

No longer works with iPhone 5??. This app used to work with the iPhone 5 and now suddenly it is no longer supported? FAIL!!

Excellent accuracy software !. Good valise And easy to easy

Will not install. Not compatible with this iPhone.....

Protection. Cela me permet de mettre un maximum de db et cela protège les oreilles

???. Sa marche meme pas pour vrai!

Little or no noise.. Not really that great.

Very impressed. Thanks for high quality and value!

Crashing!. Doesn't work - crashes upon opening.

Will install on iPhone 5 now. Thanks for the update. Will now install on my iPhone 5. Simple operate, i.e.; peak and average reset by touching. Can be recalibrated if required. Thanks to the author(s)

Restaurant noise levels. Great for measuring noisy restaurants. Some of them are so noisy the waitstaff should wear ear protectors

Even if it's only 99 cents. I'd have to agree with an earlier reviewer that there's something not quite right with the accuracy. For some reason I'd get 55-60 in a very quiet room with no noise at all. I also downloaded Decibel 10 for free and got a reading of 40-45 in the same room under the same conditions. Even if it's 99 cents, I've overpaid--I'll probably disable it.

Conviviale. Très bon et amusant, la meilleur application , pour évaluer le son ambiant ;)

dB Meter Pro. This ap now seems to work on my 2nd Gen iPad as well as my iPhone 5, and it seems to work very well although I lack the means to test its accuracy.

Decibel meter. It works well and provides a good guide to noise levels. I would purchase it again. Paul

Very useful. Very useful and pretty accurate compared to our theatre sound gear. Way better than guessing how loud the show really is.

Surprising. Didn't realize the sound level in every day activity

Very convenient. Well set up and comprehensive.

Extra. Amusant et facile d'utilisation

Works well. Better than I expected. Used it to measure the listening sound pressure level of my home music system. Sometimes I just don’t realize just how loud the music is. Protecting my ears from damage.

Don't waste $1. Only goes up to 100 db and basically everything it reads is 100 lol Fail app

Works fine. Don't know how sensitive it is. Reads 42 decibels in a quiet bedroom.

Ear saver!. Use it in noisy situations. I have acute tinnitus.

One time fee is great!. For $1 you get what you need. Other apps offering this service charge up to $10 a month!!! Great deal.

Great app. Am really enjoying this app. I am a little perplexed by the fact that a really quiet room still shows about 57db and with the tv going it is only 60db. Thought the really quiet room would be like 30db.
