No good for me. I only tried it on two different stihl chainsaws (2 stroke single cylinder)and it was garbage. At idle(2600rpm) it bounced from 300 to 6000 but mainly stayed around 850. I tried all the different settings with no luck. It was a waste of money for me.

Works real good!. Definitely worth the cost. I used it to calibrate my analog diesel tachometer and it is way cheaper than buying a dedicated revmeter to do one job. Worked for me while sitting at the instrument cluster with a screwdriver so it offers a big advantage over pulley-based measurements that make you run back and forth while RPM may change. Two important points! 1) It cannot measure RPMs of electric motors unless for some reason they emit audio. 2) You have to give the app some idea of a range to work in. I used known transmission gearing to get close, and the app zeroed it in for me. Great idea!

It does work and does provide RPM. Once you figure out how to configure the app for your engine it works. It's not perfect tends to bounce around could use an output filter. You have to play around with this app to get it working right. It's not perfect but I was able adjust my carb to 3600 rpm ie snow blower.

Got my snowblower working. Was able to dial in my snowblower RPMs no problem. I do think the app should have the cycle/number of cylinders option right on the Home Screen, I think that would help out. Also, would be nice if it had good enough response times to react to transient surges, really it’s only useful for steady RPM values. But overall, did what I needed for much cheaper than a small engine tach.

Works on small engines. I was happy to see that it did work while setting the RPM on my snowblower (4 cycle). I didn't have the time or the desire to understand the app, so I just put it on Auto, and it did a better job on the output. I was not able to compare its output with an electrical input meter, but the engine did sound about right. It will suffice for now under my deciphering. Nice job!

Steamed. This app does not seem to work. I've tried it several times and get the same results. The display only shows blanks and intermittently flashes incorrect data. I'm trying to find a way to get my money refunded but no luck so far. I am very disappointed in this application.

RPM. This App is really hard to use. Be advised you'll need a physics degree to have any success.

Completely inaccurate. Do not buy.. I tested this app on several electric motors ranging from 7,000 to 30,000 rpm and it gave me completely inaccurate readouts every time. Not only that, but it randomly skips between too significantly different numbers, such as 3,000 and 7,000 or between 10,000 and 20,000. Even in a sound proof room it gives random readouts when no sound is heard. How can the app creator justify charging so much for an obviously bugged app? I really would like my money back.

Very versatile. One thing you need to understand is that this program is very sophisticated. It is has many tools to make it as accurate as possible. It works on sounds, not electrical impulses. I had a problem that was resolved within moments. I didn't have certain parameters set correctly in order to see what the program is analyzing. All I did was email the programmer and the issue was resolved. You DO NOT need a physics degree to use this product, you need patients and the ability to become familiar with what the tools that you are not used to working with. There are tools in this program to make it easy to pinpoint the harmonic peaks for the engine that you are working on. Eliminating excess noise will help, keeping in mind that this program is not using magic it is using sound waves to determine engine speeds. All the negative feedback that I have read seems to be from someone that thinks that they should just stick their phone against an engine and it will give them an exact read out of the engine RPM... If you read the specs on your phone, you may find that those capabilities are fairly limited.... IN CLOSING: If you are someone who would use a specialty tool to find engine RPM on a daily basis, then maybe a $70 specialty tool is something you would need. If you are the everyday do it yourselfer, then this product will save you a lot of money and time. You don't need to maintain a specialty tool and hope that the batteries aren't dead when you need the tool. You don't want to blow up a perfectly good engine by not setting the engine speed to spec either.

Really?. I bought this app ($8.99) to save some money on a hand held, single-purpose device at around $100. I read the manual and have adjusted all the settings. It seems to work only when you tell it what you think the RPMs should be. It agrees for a moment then jumps around as much as 2,000 RPMs between refresh. I was hoping to tune my yard machines but it looks like I need to spend the hundred bucks. Can I get a refund?

Does what I need. Needed a tachometer to check RPM of a stationary 12 liter engine with little muffler. For my situation this app works incredibly well. Gives accurate readings even quite some distance from the engine (anywhere the steady roar of the engine can be heard) On the other hand, I've had little success on vehicle engines. Other noises (ac compressor, fan) tend to drown the highly muffled exhaust sound. Also, this tach does not respond well to rapidly changing engine speed.

Works Great!. I used this to check the RPM on a couple of lawnmowers I have. I set the engine type, set the hint, and it found the correct rpm reading very quickly. I don't think I could go out and buy a tach for ten bucks or get it hooked up and working this easily.

Works great. Works great in my single engine airplane. Great to have as a backup when in IFR conditions.

Frustrating. I just want my 9 dollars back. Sick of trying to get this to work.

Smart, solid app, works every time. An indispensable shop tool

Fancy looking interface doesn't work. The idea of this app is great and that is why I bought it. I foolishly ignored all the negative reviews. I could not get this app to report anything near an accurate RPM measurement.

Works!!!. Works as advertised. However, you must read AND understand the directions. Caution, you just can't turn it on and expect it to work.

Very useful app! Cheaper than a photo tach.... I used this app to calibrate alternator-driven tachometers on both a 3 cylinder Diesel and a 1 cylinder Diesel engine with great success. However, you have to use a little common sense when interpreting the readings as they can jump around by a few 1000 RPM's depending on the location of your iPhone and the engine sound it's picking up.

Works as advertised. The documentation explains exactly how this works, and what the limitations are. There are some big advantages too: low cost and no need to touch the engine. I used this to tune my old rototiller engine. It took some experimentation on where to position my phone near the engine, but I was able to get a strong signal and confirm max RPM and idle RPM.

Not impressed. I have tried all the different settings and this app is a total waste of money. I wish they gave you a week to try it out before purchase. Does not get remotely close on jet ski, V8 truck, snow blower, or lawnmower. DO NOT BUY!

impressive. Allowed me to set my chainsaw high speed mixture. I was running 2k rpm rich, didn’t know how much power I was missing. Struggled a bit with idle reading, but that’s understandable because a 1-cylinder 2-cycle engine is lumpy at low speed. Increasing sample length did the trick. Much better than spending $100+ for the Stihl tachometer. Impressive piece of software.

Rip off. The app opens for about a second and then closes, it is a total waste of money, does not work at all!!

Disappointing. Tried it on 2 cars and a tractor (for which we really needed the measurement). After reading all of the help and trying for 30 minutes we could not get a reliable reading on any of the engines. Net net, You tell it where to and it tells you "sure, there's a harmonic near that range". Worthless. Wish I could get a refund.

Great concept. Great execution. Great price!. The Tiny Tach tachometer I’ve been using in my small engine work wasn’t extremely expensive, but it’s finicky and difficult to use when I’m tuning something like a chainsaw. This app, after a couple minutes glossing over the instructions, was almost intuitive to get to function. It will be really nice to be able to set this down and have both hands free to operate the throttle and adjust carburetor settings on equipment now. Large, easy to see display and controls plus other features I haven’t even gotten to will make my work SO much easier! Thanks guys, for all your hard work. I’m totally happy with the price!

Waste. Worthless on a yamaha single cylinder bike.

Pricey but works good.. This was a little more expensive that I would have liked but once I used it I would say it’s defiantly useful. Used it to check low and high speed of my lawnmowers and it’s right on. Just slide around the hint rpm as it’s running and it finds the speed right away. It’s also cool that you can also see the audio waveform. The app doesn’t look to fancy but as long as it keeps working with future iOS updates I’ll be happy.

Expensive and complicated but it works..... 1- Read all the help pages beforehand; it’ll take you about 5-10 minutes but well worth it. 2- I used to set idle on a 2 stroke fuel injected motorcycle where the idle is critical: too high and the bike runs too lean, too low and it bogs down in low RPM starts. 3- At first I had it set up to sample every 3 seconds. That was too long. So I cut to 3/4 of a second and it was less of a hassle. I was able to guesstimate the current RPM’s at 1500, (actual was closer to 1700), so I set up the software that way, kept making small adjustments on idle screw until I got it just right. 4- Logging the RPMs and times was a nice feature. 5- to get a 5 star price needs to come down materially or ease of use must improve significantly. Overall I’m happy with this given the alternatives.

Excellent Tool. This app worked very well to help me set the idle on my Royal Enfield 500cc single cylinder motorcycle. It picked up the “thump” of the engine immediately thus allowing me to fine tune the engine’s RPM to specification. 100% pleased!

Read manual...and it works. This app is awesome. However a trained monkey could not use it, you MUST read the directions, however, if you set the parameters, watch the graph at the bottom and read the directions, you will always have a RPM meter around for all engines that Emmit sound. Honestly I use this for all my snowblowers, lawn mowers and chainsaws. Works great, but you do need to watch the graph read the directions and it helps to know what RPM's it 'should' be running at. Mowers and blowers are all 3600 RPM, saws are 13,600 rpm wide open. Again trained monkey can not use this, you need a brain and it will confuse you for an hour until you read the directions, then it works nicely. And for 9$, saves me lots of money on all the machines I want an RPM meter for to make carb adjustments.

Expensive app that doesn't work. VERY disappointed in this expensive app. I have previously used an RPM from sound app on a PC and it worked quite well. This one didn't have a clue. Used it in a single engine airplane (recommended use in the app description) and it didn't have a clue. Giving it a hint didn't help at all. Actual RPM was about 2,500 and it would jump from many thousands to a few hundred. And back again. Best use would be as a random number generator. Save your money. Guess that's what I get for being an early adopter.

Worth every penny!!. 5 Star app!! It def is an app you need to get familiar w. I suggest reading every help screen too get an understanding of how the app works. I got this app to check my WOT on my outboard. I practiced on my motorcycle. After hooking my comp to my power commander and finding my RPMs I started tinkering w the app. Once I understood and got the frequency lined up w the red markers the RPMs matched to a T..love it!!

Impossible to Use. I wanted to use this app to set my idle speed on my lawnmower. I set it up for 4 cycle single cylinder mode and turned on the range hint option. With the range set to 10% it constantly read either the top of the range or the bottom of the range. I adjusted up to 20% and tried every possible combination of harmonics (high, mid, and low) without ever getting a consistent reading. I can tell by familiarity with the tone of the engine that it is close to the appropriate idle speed (2100 rpm), but never got a reading with this app to confirm that it is set appropriately. For fun, I also tried to find out the peak rpm at full throttle, and had the same results at that range (3600 rpm). Don't so what I did and waste $8 on this app trying to save time and money. For twice the price you can get a wired tachometer and get an actual reading, not a useless app that tells you nothing.

Can not get it to work. Have tried several things and can not get it to match up to RPM. Must not be using properly, but seems to jump around from one number to another, sometimes 1000 RPM differences.

Great App for any engine tuning. I have to admit that this is a great app for the iOS platform. I've used it to track engine rpm from my RC helicopter to RC planes to RC nitro and gas cars. It's a great app to use for so many other applications. I highly recommend this app. Works perfectly with iOS 7.

Does not work. Does not work on my iPhone 6 for either my marine 4 cycle gas engine or either of my cars. Any chance of a refund?

Learning curve. This app does take some time to learn how to use. You do have to first estimate rpm , but comparing to my digital tach it is +- about 2 rpm. The nice thing is that you do not have to be near the ignition system for it to register rpm. I use it with an iPod touch 8 gb and a small plug in mic ($3 Internet ).

Complete scam. This app does Nothing except generate random numbers. It's a total scam and I'll be pursuing a refund. Stay away.

Buyers beware!. This app is a waste of money and time and space I bought it and tried it on 2 of my motors and nothing happend! DO NOT BUY

Performs quite adequately. This app does exactly what it says it does, but it does require a modicum of intelligence to use. I have found it can get confused by extraneous noise, but with a clear signal it tracks rpms well. It also helps to have some idea of the speed you are trying to measure - and then to bracket that with upper and lower limits of around 50%. I use it for adjusting carbs and it does the job perfectly well.

Seriously????. Want a REFUND. Does not work. 1 star cause I needed to enter a star to review this app.

Very good. Must have for small Eng repair shop to check quick for idle rpm. Works awesome. You have to set you cylinders and 2-4 strokes then it works like a charm. Highly recommended
