Fantastic App With a Few Errors. This app is amazing and it's exactly what I was hoping to find with shuffled album display. It actually even goes beyond expectations with the transitions and different display types. The only issue I have with this app is that it often crashes and I don't have the option to keep a certain selection of albums. Overall, worth more that what you pay for in concept, but this app's bugginess keeps it from being perfect.

Cool App!. Nice app. I have one proble in this version. The song pauses every time I change the view. Hope this will be corrected soon. Thanks in advance!

Tap Tunes needs Uptake to 8.4. Tap Tunes was the best app to listening to my album collection by genre or playlist… I have been an user of TapTunes for many years, tried many music players before and found out this one was the best… That is before IOS 8.4 upgrade, my relationship with this app when down the drain…. Random/shuffle album play from playlist does not work as before, it does not start at the first song and if you want it to start from the first song in not automatic the album shuffle… I am so sorry for the developer… still has a lot of features that other music players lack but for me I found another app that shuffles my albums from a playlist and starts from the first song. The new app is not as good as TapTunes was but at least now is better for me…. If I could give a quarter of star rate, I definitely would!!!!

No More Gray Background?!. This was my favorite music app because it had a dark gray background I could use at night to listen to music when going to bed and not expose myself to bright blue light computer screen which disrupts circadian rhythms and makes it harder to fall asleep. Now in the latest 2022 version the background is bright cream white and there does not appear to be a Setting to change it back to dark theme mode. If you want to provide bright background as the display default that's fine but at least give your existing users a preference option to change it back to original dark background. Yet another iOS app I relied on for years then a change was made that makes it unusable for my purposes, oh well, DELETE!

A nice little app that needs some improving. I really like the overall function of the TapTunes app. Album shuffle is exactly what I was looking for since my iTouch doesn't support that! It loads a little slow and navigating through menus or selecting items can bog down. A lyrics viewing pane would go a long way towards making this is ideal.

All songs. Luv this app but u should b able to listen to all albums nonstop when u pull up a artist or am I doing something wrong please let me no some1 this app would b really cool if u could use it as screen saver u no also add videos use it as a screen saver while the covers are moving

Can't find ripped albums. I have hundreds of albums I ripped from CDs - none of them show up in the Taptunes library. As far as I can tell, the only ones it can see are those I've purchased on iTunes. Both beatblaster and planetary found all my albums just fine. What's more, I purchased this as an iPad app, but is clearly just a iPhone/iPod app that happens to run on my iPad. Lame.

My favorite music player. I've had this app since the very first versions, and with every update it just keeps getting better. If you're looking for a simple (yet complete) and nice-looking music player, something else besides the default one, then I highly reccomend you give this one a try.

Nice. Nifty way of seeing your albums in one screen

Problem with last update. Exiting drive mode glitches the "back" arrow in the upper left corner. Other than that the app retains its quality. Fix that and keep the good work!

Keeps you out of the trees!. A great music player with a very intuitive interface. Originally purchased for the car, it has become my go-to music player all the time. Gesture based interface allows you to control your music while keeping your eyes on the road. Connection for BlueTooth or WiFi playback is easily accessed. Very well planned and executed, it makes navigating your music and selecting playback very easy. Great job!

One Major Fail. Everything is as advertised except for one thing: In playback mode, only the fast forward function is shown. There are no “play” or “rewind” options, so you can’t pause or rewind a song. It appears as if these three functions were not properly centered. If this gets fixed, I will change my rating to 5 stars. Otherwise, this is an album lover’s dream.

My new favorite music player. This is a very clean & simple music player. Love seeing all my albums. Two things I would like to see in future version 1. In landscape view on my iPad mini I cannot simply pull down quickly on the album cover and close the album and go back to the main all albums view. This works perfect in portrait view but not landscape. Pls fix this. 2. In my car I have my iPad in landscape view with the home button nearest me at all times while playing my music. When playing music the album cover is nearest me and the music tracks are furthest from me. Please switch this where music tracks are near the person. Also the album cover could be smaller making the tracks slightly larger font. There is no need for a giant album cover.

Unusable lag. I really wanted to like this app, as it appeared to be the best alternative to the default. The concept of the different views are brilliant, if only the app's core functionality worked well. Upon selecting or switching to any song, the entire app freezes, sometimes for up to 5 seconds at a time. Don't like the next song you skipped to? Well you better be ready to tolerate the intro while the GUI is frozen. Even when a song is playing, many of the animations at the heart of user interaction are evidently choppy, like the volume control on the playing screen. This is all on a brand new iPhone 8 and persistent across reboots and reinstalls. Platform limitations like the control center shortcut are tolerable, but charging people for a non-responsive app is not.

Great for rediscovering albums, but .... I love the random display of album art and customizations for rediscovering albums I haven’t played in so long! But, when I tap on the cover of a song that has lyrics attached, how do I get back to the cover? I can’t dismiss the lyrics. No combination of taps or swipes gets me back to the album view. Is it a bug?

Album Shuffle. I've downloaded numerous music apps for one simple purpose: to shuffle whole albums instead of just songs. From everything I've downloaded this app does album shuffle the best. Push the "Shuffle Album" and it will pick an album at random, play that album entirely and then randomly choose another album without stopping (something most other apps did not do). I would only suggest one improvement and that would be the ability to choose playlists.

Cover Flow Done Better!. I really enjoy this app! If you are a person that is meticulous about getting your album art right, then this app definitely shows off all of your hard work!!! Really neat how it displays in three types of ways. The "wall" reminds me of my beloved screen saver on my computer, but is much much cooler because you can interact with it. I also like the cover flow in vertical! Cover Flow is a really neat thing, but it limited and has to be shown by flipping your device. With the Vertical cover flow in this app, bingo solution solved! Thanks for the hard work on this app! Really excited to see what new things are in store with the updates!

Good app. This app it is pretty cool. With thousands of albums in my library it's a good new way to browse my collection. I like that I can load certain artists, genres or playlists and then pick from just those albums, but why even if you select a playlist based on higher ratings does it still plays all of the tracks on the albums, not just the songs with the correct rating. It could also use is a way to delete or remove selected albums and have them automatically replaced. Also confused as to when you select shuffle it only shuffles that one album, but then if you go into the bookmark icon you can select your own list of song that will play and shuffle between multiple albums but where is the list of songs at and why aren't those album covers displayed?? Still a cool app but could be improved.

Love it!!. The only thing that could make this better would be, if possible, have some sort of synch with iTunes or interface with your iPod to be able to post the info of what you are listening to onto Facebook with a feature for your friends to access the song and hear a clip of it to see if they like it too... May be a way to generate income with iTunes working together with the app...

What I've wanted for years now!. With the default iOS music player I get tired of seeing my albums in alphabetical order... this app finally solves that problem! I'm so happy, thanks to the developer for creating this!

On the right track. Ive tried several music players to get away from the stock Apple player. This has potential but the album view is a complete mess. Im not sure why they move, just make them scrollable so i can find what i want. All covers are blank until you touch the album then they show up. If you go back to now playing then back to albums they are blank again. The UI when viewing the playing song seems backwards to me, a swipe to right should go to next song in playlist, a swipe left should start song over, another to left should go to previous song. Right now Im going back and forth between this app and Listen, which has its problems as well. Also lyrics would be great.

Pretty sweet!. I really like this app it's a fresh take on iTunes which is cool. There are defintely still things that need work like expanding the number of albums that can be on the app. I have over 200 albums and it disappoints me when it won't load an album I really like. Another thing that could be worked on is the responsivness of the app. It sometimes feels laggy and unresponsive to commands especially in the ablum artwork pages. I guess I shouldn't be ragging on the app too much it's really sweet and people around always comment on it! Props for making it, keep up the good work!!

Suggestions. Like the app but as someone who keeps albums organized I wish we could get that as an option too , also if we could get a full dark mode background would be great as well, other than that really like the player reminds me of iOS 6 music player.

Fantastic, what the Music app should be. This app really has allowed me to rediscover my music. I love the interface (particularly the fact that it's black and not bright in your face white like the Music app), and the super easy and organized search function. My only complaint is that when you search for a particular song it doesn't allow you to immediately jump to playing that song. Instead it brings up the album it's in and then you have to choose that album and the it's song list and then the song. I just want to search for and the play that song! Fix that, polish the interface a little more to make it more smooth and Apple-like and this will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Same old. Appears to just apply a skin over the iOS music player. Looking for an app that will allow the shuffling after choosing a genre of music. The new iOS update doesn't seem to allow this anymore. This app appears to just change the appearance of the player. I deleted the app and my music continued playing so what does that tell you about its usefulness?

Disappointed. It's attached to apple music library! With no other ways to import music from it

The beauty of album covers!. TapTunes has very quickly become my favorite music player. For anyone that enjoys the visual aspect of album covers, and wants that combined with a fantastic music player, this is the one to get.

Boy all that it seems. I may have misunderstood the TapTunes functionality but I am greatly disappointed. The app does not manage your music, it attaches to Apple Music to access your music. Every time you open the app it starts as it was never opened, instead of opening where you last closed it...I would prefer it would open at the song I am playing so I don’t have to search for it once again. The app accesses your Apple playlists, listing the songs but there is no way to play the list one song at a time, the very definition of a “playlist”. This app is NOT for me....waste of energy attempting to learn it.

Not worth 3 ✨. After the update, you still can't group by album artist. It seems like a big foresight. They even shrunk the album art on the play screen for iPhone😩. The album wall now scrolls upward, instead of right to left. I wasn't consulted. [UPDATE] I tried cartunes and it does everything this app does but better. I kept this app just to look at the album wall.

Confusing interface, lack of shuffle songs. The interface is not intuitive. The menu space is wasted with how you would display the icons. The shake to shuffle function doesn’t include shuffling songs (only albums).

Just as it's claimed to be.. I reluctantly bought this app but I was really looking for something better than iTunes for my iPhone and saw that this app was getting good reviews so it was worth a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Great Music App. Just a great app with a lot of flexibility to organize and display your music library. Thank you David for updating this app. I’ve been using this app for a long time and it always has worked flawless for me. I know that the AOL Play app was based on your work also and it was excellent. If a future release of TapTunes were to include Shoutcast capability I certainly wouldn’t complain :)

App will not work without Apple Music installed. The reason I pie did this useless app is to ditch the garbage player that Apple provided, and eliminate the auto play when connecting to BT in the car. Yet the app does not play anything WITHOUT the Apple Music app installed. You can delete the Apple Music app, then re-sync to get music on the device. Tap tunes sees the music, but will not play anything. Why build an app that depends on the trash we are paying to replace!!?? Junk app.

This is not that hard, get your s%&* together!. Film scores, compilation albums, guest appearances: All perfectly valid reasons an album may have more than 1 artist. This does not mean your interface should split the album. if I want to play an album, I want all 10 songs, not the 2 by the artist whose name appears first!!!

Crashing. It does crash more than I would like but it has good shuffle and I like the interface

Freezing and Crashing...Ugghh!. I used this app frequently when traveling in my car with my Jabra player through my stereo system until the latest update...since then it continuously crashes and freezes. Going looking for a better app : /

Has Saved My Commute! (and other personal time). As a commuter who is now sick of the almost-8GB of music filling his iPod Touch (1st Gen,) I have been meaning to purge or replace music for a few months now. (Life has gotten in the way of course.) However, with this app, it's something I can do single-handedly by pushing around the albums just like I would when picking out tracks for that perfect mix tape from 8th grade! Great for finding or rediscovering forgotten gems too-- Thanks!!!

Excellent for album cover browsing.. Taptunes can be used in many ways by many people. For me I have lots of full albums on my iphone & this is a great way to display several of them by album cover. I've switched over from the ipod app completely as I like to browse by album cover rather than text. I've been using this since an early version and the developer has really put alot of effort into this - Bravo!!! I hope he keeps on rolling with it, as the Apple ipod app is pretty lame and I can see this being a replacement for alot of people. I would suggest some graphic design element refinement on the buttons in general - but that's a small thing.

A hidden gem. When I first got this app, I thought it was a gimmick. But it quickly became one of my fave apps. It allowed me to rediscover my music and gave me a better method than cover flow to select albums. I think that the load times are waaay too long - the app should ideally create a cache and update that each time, rather than reloading everytime. Still a pretty nice app though.

Best alternative to standard music player. TapTunes is a fun way to get to know your music library all over again. The gestures are intuitive and make it effortless to navigate between artist, album and individual tracks. It does not appear to support playlists or track tagging. Other than that - well done!

Offers Something New. This adds functionality the default app would (in my ideal world) have built in. Being able to see an attractive spread of albums to pick from reduces the cold impersonality of digital libraries. Lots of customizability. Would love even more choices. Update: Thank you for adding the widget with random albums! I love it and use it daily. Wonderful app.

Great way to "see" more music at once!. Efficient way to "see" more album covers on-screen. Simple, useful controls.

Please update the app for iOS 13. TapTunes was my favorite music player app, but since iOS13 it freezes and cannot scroll the screen. Please update the app!!

Good on iPhone 5. Freezes on iPad 2.. This is the best music app I've found in two hours searching to replace Apple's MISERABLE native Music app on iOS 9.3.3 on an iPhone 5. However, TapTunes freezes in iOS 9.3.3 on an iPad 2. After Apple abandoned sense beginning with the release of several iOS 8 consistently broken versions, the iOS 8 Music player nonetheless worked well. If they weren't before, Apple's managers are certainly now greedy corporate schmucks doing their part to churn software breakage into sales of new mobile devices which use ever more destructive conflict minerals to hasten the demise of Earth's ecosystems. And while I'm writing about software, iTunes software for PC was a giant step backward by deleting valuable features, confusing the user interface by moving everything around, and adding sales crap. And on a *perfectly* maintained Windows 7 box the cursor in iTunes 12 has gone missing.

Laggy UI and incomprehensible ordering. 1. The UI responsiveness needs some work. Very often I hit a control and it takes a few seconds(!) to register that I did anything. 2. The ordering of the album views is rather incomprehensible. Ok for spotting a totally random album you haven't listened to in a while, but the unpredictable nature of it makes it bothersome to go back to. Give me clean predictability.

Very cool. A great app. Loads better than the standard player!

Nice, but no good. The way you can navigate within an artist and album is quite unique and works really well. There are also some nice ideas going on with artwork and display. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any support whatsoever for playing a playlist, and there is a lot about the UI that is just eccentric. Yet another music app that has a lot of potential, but drops the ball on basic stuff.

Pretty bad.. I haven't managed to use taptunes for more than a minute because of frequent crashes. Furthermore, the default theme is hideous and the whole thing lags ridiculously.

The music. I got it for free so I can't really complain. It's really more a novelty then anything. Lots of features and it's fun to use but I don't know if it'll replace my regular music player just yet

Good app, however.... Good app, however it can be improved. Pros: 1. Cool interface 2. Has some useful features that are missing on the regular player 3. Can be used on Driving mode 4. Does not lose your options, albums, play mode selected -as long as the music keeps playing- if running in the background. Cons: 1. You have to pay $$$ (again) to unlock the "Stacked" mode 2. No way to build playlists on the fly 3. Unable to rate my songs!!!!! (I would find this extremely useful)

Give me a break!. I find or really cheesy that they expect me to pay again to unlock some of the updated features of this version. I've already paid for the previous version, and had expected some benefits for my support. Don't bother buying this app unless you don't mind paying for it over and over again.

All albums.... This App works well, but, instead of Twitter or Facebook support, I think it is very important to be able to see all of your albums at once. I have 186 albums and am only able to see 60 albums at a time. Covers, although not as polished as this app, does allow you to see all of your music library at once. Pretty much a must as far as I am concerned. Hopefully this will be addressed in a future update...

Great. It's a flashy new way to listen to music. It needs a few more features like ability to see lyrics and simpler way to view just songs and the shake to shuffle wouldnt be too bad.

Makes no sense.. All I see is a blank screen with shuffle buttons, and access to settings that change nothing. How do I navigate my library?

Wonderful music app. Seriously Apple should hire this guy to redo their iPod app. The search function is brilliant and lets you choose to play the artist or the album selected. Lots of brilliance here.

Fix please. It closes every time I try do do pretty much anything and I have to reopen it 3 or 4 times to get it to work, if it even works at all

This is Still My Favorite Local Music App. The grid album view lets me so many more of my albums than Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube music ever do, and the blurred background color based on the detail of your album looks nice. Everything is quickly accessible, and simple double tap and swipe gestures make some actions faster that are more cumbersome in the other apps. I really like how minimal it feels w/o cutting out core functionality. This app actually *feels* clean, and I really appreciate that. Will there be an update to optionally show more than 500 albums on the grid view? My library isn't there yet, but it's getting close.

Fantastic. Great player for your music, interesting, entertaining, visually stimulating.

Just missing 2 things but near perfect. The randomness is nice but often I would like to listen to my playlist in order. The problem I encounter with playlists is that it will only play one song then stop right there. The next song in my playlist does not auto play. I have to go back to the selection screen and select the next album. My second complaint is the 3-5 sec buffer. If you accidentally play the wrong song, you are waiting for the song to play, go full screen, then it will allow you to go back. Fixing these two things would make this the best 3rd party music app. It’s by far better than Apple’s but on it’s own, just shy of perfection for me.

Gestures are great. Gestures are a great solution to the problem of having to look at the screen to hit the right button.

Me. Great app I love it

Jumbled Albums. They were arranged in no certain order. With over 200 albums, it takes forever to thumb through every page to find what I want.

Missing cover art from ripped CDs. Dazzling design of multiple graphic interfaces! Or it would be, if it had the cover art. 99% of my library is ripped from CDs and these are all blank.

Disappointed. This app constantly crashes and doesn't show freshly synced music.

Pretty good app. Needs some cosmetic changes like skins or user backgrounds. Also it draws more battery power than the standard iPod. Good start and I'll be looking for updates.

Great App needs update. This is a really great app although I would suggest support for landscape mode and also the ability to control videos and watch videos. More of the basic features that the iPod already has but with the tap tunes edge! I want to see an update soon!

Bad/good. When you delete songs in the regular music app it does not delete in this app that is the only problem I have out of it but it is a awesome app. Hope these helped you peace ;)

Update ,a year after: After a long search and trials, I found my new music player. 2016/09/26: So, this is my update d review, a year and a few days after my first review - the app has been stable and work as expected. But, I decided to lower my 5 star rating to 3, because, no basic features were added to it, over a full year, in comparison to other music players in the same league that have added much needed basic features, as, "Play Next", "Add to Playlist" and Lyrics (I don't even mention cloud integration). Which, unfortunately, don't deserve the same rank. As a veteran and heavy iPhone user, who tried many apps, in search for the best ones. Including many music players (lately, gave up on Apple's music player, for it's lack of features, commercial bloat, and eyesore white background), I find this music player to be one of the top in the app store with numerous customizing options, especially, the fast track search, and user-friendly controls. I'm so happy with it,i bought the stacked view option, just to contribute. A great music player! feature request to the developers: Please add a playlist creation with options to quickly add & reorder the tracks in them.

Tile view!. I love the tile view. Apple needs to include a tile view option to their cover flow feature and then this app will be totally obsolete

Suggestions Below. 5 stars for a great start. 1. Circled feature needs Full Screen, it needs to be bigger. 2.Player "Skin" customization, let us choose the player's color(blue is getting really old thanks to Apple). 3.Change App's Icon, ( I have nothing against blue but this App looks like an ugly version of " the App Store" Icon. Color plays a big role when we are moving our apps to the dock. 4.View Lyrics like in Apple's music app. 5. I currently have 534 Albums and counting. Please allow us to add more albums. $$$$. Keep improving it. If a payed version with all these features comes out I will buy it. $$$ Thank You! For the App.

Great but. It's great app but can you make an update where we can sync music from a free music app to the widget

Too Many Issues. I must have a dozen music playing programs. The "outline" of what this program could be is fantastic. Unfortunately, the program is often unresponsive and it loves to crash. Great design!

Long load time. App was still loading album covers after 5 min. Deleted.

Used to be 4 stars. iOS 8.4 busted it, but random album doesn't start with the first song, and both forward buttons shuffle songs not albums. Not the only app 8.4 did this to.

Seems so cool but.... Great presentation but the darn thing just locks up all the time. Frustrating.

I wud buy it!!. I love this app, I would pay for it if it wasn't a free app. Only one suggestion though PLEASE MAKE CUSTOM EQUALIZER!

Crashes. I have a 4th gen iPod touch (the latest one), and this app crashes shortly after loading. What I can see of the interface is good, though.
