Lumen Trails lets you take notes, make lists and keep track of other things in your life such as time, workouts, expenses, calories, food, weight, sleep or anything else you can think of, even where you've parked your car. Thousands of people use it every day, and they love it because it truly makes a difference in their lives.
“I've been using Lumen Trails for 6 months and continue to love it. One of my most sticky and useful apps ever on my phone.” – David D'Souza
The beauty of Lumen Trails is that you can track absolutely anything. There are tons of other apps that allow you to track one or two things, for example, calories and weight. But what if you decide to track something else? Say, how many cigarettes you smoke as you try to quit, your eating habits or even net worth? Lumen Trails is the app for that!
Instead of having one app for your to-do lists, one for tracking expenses, another one for tracking your weight, you can declutter your home screen and just have one app that does it all.
Designed exclusively for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, Lumen Trails is incredibly powerful, easy to use, and looks beautiful on the Retina Display. It can even backup your data automatically to Google Drive, sync with iCloud, and is fully accessible with Apple VoiceOver in 8 languages. There's nothing that comes even close to it. And to top it all, your data is not locked on your iPhone. You can export it to Excel or Google Docs.
So what's truly important to you right now? Your Health? Fitness? Finances? Productivity?
Track it and get things done!
:: Note to iPhone 7 & 7 Plus users
Now you can ask Siri to find information for you and dictate right into Lumen Trails. For example, hold down the Home button and ask Siri: “How many calories are in a chicken sandwich?”. To start dictation, tap the microphone button on your keyboard and just start talking.

We've updated Lumen Trails to run flawlessly on the brand new iOS 11 and iPad Pro (with split screen support).
Using this many times daily.
This is a top-notch app which I've been using every day for over 4 years now. I've never had any problems with it and I now exercise regularly and feel great!
Today’s the first day of using it but I absolutely love it so far and there’s many parts I haven’t even used yet.
This is the first app I bought several years ago. It is the most versatile and useful app I have to date. There literally has not been a day I haven't used it.
Until my debit card was trying to be charged and I didn’t even have the funds available. If I’d have known this, I wouldn’t have gotten this ‘free’ app.
I have used this app for the past few years to track records of exercise, medication taking, etc. I also used the Todo list as my primary and the Quick Notes for many things. Excellent one-stop shop app!!
Sneaky fee anyone? It's a shame.. Paid for the app, developer assured this paid version will not be supported but people who bought can continue to use it. Sounds fair. Then they sneak in an update which introduced Ads or a $24 annual fee. NOT COOL.
I email support about it, they keep sending me the same copy/paste reply.
I love the way this app works—in a simple way it is very statistical. When you are really trying to measure your own behavior and habits so you can improve, there’s nothing better.
Waste of downloading the app.
Am using it to write a diary about my appointments at an Expo and to add to-do’s. It is very user-friendly. I am using the speech to text a lot. I like the flexibility of it. It is easy to edit entries and to add text or images, either from the library or by taking new photos. I also like that is independent from using data. Therefore it is particularly suitable if you do not intend to synchronise the entries with any other devices. It draws on the library as much as the images that you take on the spot. So to synchronise it constantly would mean a lot of data going forth and back. It is possible to share a selected content and that should be sufficient for most people. It would be great to add the possibility to use the SwiftKey keyboard that I am normally using for other apps. Although my keyboard setting is set to SwiftKey it is not coming up in this app. The other small thing is that if you want to see a close-up of any added image, the app asks you subsequently again to select the image, to keep everything regarding this entry, and to click ‘done’ - that’s three clicks, one click would be plenty for this situation. All we would need are the options to delete or keep the image after having checked the close-up view. In most cases, the blown-up image would not be used for editing purposes but just to see the details when looking at a past entry. All in all I enjoy this very much, thank you. I have subscribed to it.
Amazing app thank you
My previous review was very critical of the developer and the decision to introduce ads and paid subscription without taking into account previous customers who had already paid for the app - especially since there was no real improvement in the function the app. Today, I received an email telling me that the developer has allowed the ability to "restore" previous purchases. So, this is a very grateful acknowledgment to the developer for doing that. I believe the app is free to try, if you can put up with ads, and I would encourage you to give it a go. It really is a great app. Good developers should be rewarded for their hard work, but they shouldn't forget their previous customers.
dont purchase this app, they are just after your money. Even after I deleted it they still continued to take money out of my account.
I bought this app prior to the automatic introduction of a subscription model which introduced ads. Very poorly handled by the developer. You could have introduced a new subscription based app that receives updates and left the old one I bought alone (like ynab classic). It's like buying a pair of shoes, then years later being told I need to pay a monthly fee to use them. Let me wear out my old shoes first, then I'll come and rent a new pair from you when I realise you only rent shoes now, and I need a new pair. You can't change the terms after the purchase and expect people to be happy. I understand everyone wants the security of subscription pay now, but this was a terrible way to introduce it. -----previous review----- Best app I've been able to find to track my music practice data on different instruments. I use both iPad and iPhone and the data syncing between the two is awesome. I can start tracking on one device and stop on another and the data is good! Graphs and statistics are neat too.
I now have to pay a monthly fee to get rid of the adds that came at last update? This should not be allowed!
It used to have the functionality of multiple notes entry for any given day. After the most recent update, that function somehow has gone which means you can only have one single note entry for each and every day. Well, in an 'imperfect' but realistic world, I assume that I am not the only one who would have more than one thing/note for some of the days in my life? Please bring that functionality BACK!
Until the Oct 2016 update this app had a 4.5-star average, now it has a 1-star average. Why? They've introduced ads, which can only be removed by paying subscription fees, and which are pushed even to users who have already paid for the app! Not cool, Lumen. Not cool. I'm happy to pay once for updates/upgrades to features; I will even pay (once) to remove ads. But in my book subscriptions are for continuing *services*, not the removal of unwanted ads or the thin promise of future development. ==previous review, 5 stars== This beautifully designed app can be turned to pretty much any purpose you wish. Forget the myriad of specialist tracking apps for habits, virtues, food, exercise, sleep, mood, music practice, ballet training, meditation, you name it… It can all be consolidated (and customised) in this one app. Add the notes and other supporting functions and you're set. Very well made and most enjoyable to use.
Stay away from this app. The developer sells you a products, then removes the product then demands a monthly fee to re-install the product. Its called bait and switch and its illegal.
Paid for the app, it was great at first. Then the developer decided to introduce ads, which could only be removed by subscribing. Do you really want to support a developer who takes your money and then detrimentally impacts the app so you have to pay again to restore the same functionality?
I just got this app and am blown away by it's capability. It's one of my must-have apps now.
Updated review: I have had a love-hate relationship with this app since I downloaded it to my iPod 4G in 2010. Everything I said in my old review is still true, and that iPod version holds an irreplaceable database of information about my life. But I won't be paying a subscription for this or any other app. Some of us cannot afford to pay for an app repeatedly. If Lumen Trails saw regular, substantial updates, it might be worth paying once again for a new version. If there were a new version: very little has changed in this app since the first version. I think we got a few extra icons in 2011. Even an alternative to Google Docs for export and updating seems too much trouble for the developer. Until the iPod dies, the old version will work fine. Fortunately, I can pull the SQLite database out of the app directory myself and hold onto it myself for however long I need to. I have had to do that a few times to avoid handing my data to Google. Old review from a very long time ago: I have used three of these "track anything" apps and this is the best one I have yet found in terms of functionality, design, and presentation of data. It is flexible enough to use for almost anything that you wish to measure over time but intuitive enough that you do not have to struggle when deciding exactly how to quantify your mood or anything else that does not naturally occur in discrete portions. The longer I own this app, the more things I think of that I want to track with it. I find myself consulting it multiple times throughout the day and I have yet to encounter a record-keeping problem that it could not help solve.
Lumen Trails is my go to app. I use it all the time. It's great for journaling, tracking and organizing. It's easy to use, find and search documents, and personalize to meet my needs. It's great!
So far I love this app. There are a few minor things I would change or update (such as being able to pick from any emoji for my mood instead of just the 5 default ones ) but they in no way take away from the usability of this app. I love that I can customize it (to an extent) and that I can track pretty much anything my little heart desires! I love that I can have everything tracked in one app instead of having to use 5+ to keep up with everything in my daily life.
Been using this app for a few years now, they update on a regular basis and add new features from time to time which is great...this app has helped me in so many different ways I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for the great app👍🏼
A special thanks to the developers for continuing to improve accessibility for the visually impaired via VoiceOver, Apple’s software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision. Sincerely, Mark
Now it's showing that I must pay 9.99 for a new subscription for the next year. NO. Deleting it today. Greedy greedy greedy. Ads?? After I paid $9.99 or so for this App a few years ago? Not good.
Fantastic product. User friendly and extremely customizable to fit any and all of your organizational needs. Use it for anything. One of the most valuable apps I've purchased and well worth the price.
Glad the developer finally came to their senses and decided not to charge the people who already paid to have a add free app. The app does what I wanted it for and my main suggestion would be the ability to export directly out of the app in a excel spreadsheet format. Having to export to Google Drive (which I don't use) is a pain in the a..
11/2016 update: The ads are gone...glad they decided to respect my upfront purchase. 2016 update. Now that they have inserted ads into an app I paid for... rating goes to 1 from 4. I didn't pay for it so I can be served google ads. Might as well just use google sheets...👎🏻 I have really enjoyed using this program for the last year. I have never lost any data or had a crash. Very reliable and very useful. Much easier to use than a spreadsheet.
