Outstanding. I use this app every day. I am living in Mexico and trying to learn Spanish. This app help me find the words I need or don't know.

Excellent app. This dictionary is very good. It's been very helpful to me in learning Spanish. At times, the translations given are words or phrases not understood well by native speakers (Latin American immigrants in Southern California). I don't know if it's Spain Spanish or just very academic, though you should expect academic language from a good dictionary. Just an FYI. A very good resource.

Pretty good. Overall the program is good. Works easily, appears to have a fairly broad dictionary and the conjugation function is nice. But there are some weaknesses. For example the conjugator does not appear to work for reflexive verbs. You can find irse in the dictionary but there are no entries in the conjugator. Same is true with other reflexive verbs that I searched. This should be easy to address in future versions of the program. Despite this minor issue I think many will find the program to be very useful.

Works great in Peru - you get what you pay for. Checking into a Spanish immersion program for a month in Peru, I downloaded all the free apps and found each one lacking. The Ultralingua program is worth every penny of its price - I use it 24/7, even in the middle of the night when I wake up dreaming about verb conjugations, roll over and grab the iPod. Seriously, this is a great piece of software, great user interface, very fluid and intuitive in use - highly recommended. Some have complained that it doesn't have a phrase translator - if it did, I would happily pay $20 more. In the meantime, there is iSpeak Spanish, which also works great.

Great Dictionary. I'm a teacher in a school system where more than half of the students speak Spanish, and my grandson attends a dual immersion preschool. I chose carefully among the various Spanish-English, English-Spanish dictionaries. After a misstep with a very inexpensive and very poorly done dictionary, I settled on Ultralingua. I'm very pleased with it. I use it several times a day. The conjugations are very helpful, and it has all of the words I look up. I think you will find it to be a very good choice too.

Great!. I would love to give this a 5 star rating but I think it is a bit overpriced. If it was just a little bit cheaper I would definitely give it a 5! With that being said I love this app! I almost have a whole book shelf filled with spanish dictionaries and references books but this little app I actually refer to the most! 2 great things about this is that it is portable and requires no internet access! I just keep my iPod in my purse, no need to drag my big clunky laptop or big dictionary around everywhere I go when I have this! I also love the numbers and how it has conjugations to every verb and every tense....right at my fingertips! Although it was a bit spendy I don't at all regret buying this! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn Spanish this will take you there!

So great. Verb conjugation alone is worth it, great app

Super Dictionary!!!. What makes this app far better than a typical Spanish dictionary is that it provides verb conjugations in all tenses. Not only does it provide conjugation lists for each verb in each tense, it also allows you to search on a conjugated verb. This feature makes it superior to verb conjugation books because they only provide lists. This is the most expensive app I have bought, but it has been worth every penny. The only thing I wish they would add would be English descriptions of the verb tenses. Since I am not a language professor, it is hard for me to remember them by name alone.

Well worth it. I recently moved to Spain, and this has been a life saver. I use it nearly everyday. It's super convenient to have it on my phone...much better and more discreet than carrying a book around with me everywhere I go. It has a much greater depth than any of the other comparably-priced translator devices I've used. It's a great resource for anyone looking to actually learn the language. The conjugation info has been especially helpful. It's certainly well worth the price for anyone taking a Spanish class or spending any significant amount of time abroad. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is because it does not provide pronunciations (which would be extremely helpful). Thanks for a great product!

Best Spanish-English language app by a mile. Worth every penny. Look up a word and get not only definition but virtually every idiom and common phrase using that word. Get full conjugations of verbs in an easy to use format. Easy to use. Fully accessible off-line, a very important feature when traveling to avoid roaming data charges. Recent update seems to make it even easier to use, since dictionary and conjugator are integrated. One of my most treasured apps

This is a really good program. I understand the pricing problem. Thirty dollars is probably too expensive, but 20 dollars for this program is really worth it. I am fairly fluent. I have many Spanish patients that don't speak English. I have been to South America many times. I love Spanish Gospel music. The interface is excellent. You can start with a word and translate from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English. You can also highlight any word in the definition of a word and go to that word. Going back (or forward) to an original word is done easily by pressing the appropriate arrow. Many uses of the word and various idioms are also given. A history of your searches can also be entered easily. The text is very legible. The congugation of a verb is easily done, and in many tenses. The numbers translation is an extra bonus. The only thing that would make it better would be a whole section on grammer. But this is a dictionary, not a grammer exposition. Of all the dictionaries that I have examined for the Iphone (and I have downloaded many), I have found this one the best. This dictionary I will use a lot. Well worth the price. "You get what you pay for."

Worth 20 bucks. I bought this program because it offers an offline dictionary for use when out of the country. It is actually quite good, and the contextual menus that pop up when hovering over words is quite useful. The best feature for me is the verb conjugation function. Though there are a couple of errors as noted by earlier reviewers ( escrito vs escribido), for the most part it is excellent. The 14 tenses of verbs used in Spanish has always been challenging, and this is definitely a welcome feature. 20 bucks might seem high, but this is the best Spanish/English program out yet, whether for jailbroken or official apps.

Weak on slang terms, but otherwise very impressive!. Yeah, it's a little more than I would like to pay, but honestly, it's worth it (and it appears to have dropped a bit in price from when I bought it). It has an impressive depth of vocabulary and the usage examples/common phrases are very helpful. Easy to use, too. I'd pick this over a paper dictionary any day of the semana. The only area in which I've found it lacking is slang. I've found some pretty basic and common slang terminology that just isn't covered. Overall, very nice!

Great App; update causes crash!!!. This app has been a great lifeline for me living in Argentina for the past year. However, I installed the most recent update, and now the app crashes immediately upon opening. Please fix this soon! Recommendations: It would be great if the app would remember a verb when I switch from dictionary to conjugation, instead of making me search for the word all over again. Also, ability to find phrases and some slang would be excellent. Thanks for the great app.

So Far So Good!. I've had this application for about a month now. I've been studying Spanish for several years and have taken Spanish immersion classes in Spanish speaking countries for the last two years. I had been carrying around a small travel dictionary that often came up short on words and definitions. So far, the Ultralingua dictionary has always found a definition for the word I have been looking up. In fact, I'm impressed with all the slang and idiomatic expressions that show up during a search. The verb conjugation is great, it eliminates the need to carry around my huge book of 500 verbs. I haven't tried the new update yet, but haven't been disappointed with the program in its current configuration.

LOVE IT!. This app is absolutely beautiful. Everything about it is awesome. I love this app especially because I have an iPod touch, so no having to use internet is just amazing. The conjugations, dictionary, translator are all great. The only thing I wish is for it to translate full sentences instead of just words, but it is still well worth $20. I love this app.. I have been using Ultralingua since my Palm days, and have been very happy with it. I would like to see a capacity to write in definitions to existing words, that apply to a particular region or country, that I encounter on the job, or during travel. Being a Chef, I work with people from many different countries, many of whom use different words for the same item. It would be nice to be able to add to the list on my particular phone. Otherwise, very happy. I use this app quite often.

WOW!. I purchased this App last night. I started to use it this morning on some Spanish homework and I couldn't stop. It was so useful and easy to use. I normally use a Franklin Spanish-English electronic translator (which cost me nearly $50); however, this App is so much better and easier to read. Compared to what I paid for the Franklin Spanish-English electronic translator, this is a bargain at $20. If I could give it more than 5 STARS, I'd do it.

Fantastic, Love the update!. This is one of the best apps on my phone. It's easy to use, well-designed, and full of helpful features, such as verb conjugation charts. I use it whenever I read in Spanish or do translation work, and have found it tremendously helpful and much faster than using a paper dictionary. I especially love the fact that it keeps a history of the words you've looked at, and you also have the option to add words to a "favorites" list. This is great when I want to go back later and add the words I've looked up to a vocabulary list. I've had this app for years now, and I've always found the updates to move the app further along in the right direction. This app is absolutely worth the cost.

Great Update. You can now search for any word conjugated or not in either language in one box. Also related words will show up to give you deeper understanding of the word. Not just a direct translation as offered by many other apps. I've had this app for many years (bought it back in the day when it was like $40!!) and I love it and it was worth it then. Also the app opens up with lightning speed. No having to wait on Internet connection. Everything is on your phone and it doesn't take up too much memory.

Spanish dictionary. Fantastic dictionary. It even explains the what and why of certain words. Very helpful.

Awesome Update. I second the motion. With this latest update the program is awesome. I like the new forward/back buttons, the history. The dictionary button seems to always work now. It seems snappier in general. I've paid $50 or more for electronic English - Spanish dictionaries. This has them beat and it's always with me. Maybe for the casual user $20 is high but for someone who is serious about wanting to learn Spanish, this is a good value.

I use this dictionary all over Mexico & Central America. This app is perfect for basic travel, but also after you become reasonably fluent. I read 50% of all conversation consists of 150 words. But, normal conversation can go anywhere and you could find yourself stuck trying to come up with any of the thousands of uncommon words. Ultralingua is perfect for that and I have it on my iPod so it is always with me. I rarely by apps and even though this app is a little more expensive it is worth every penny to me. I rarely write reviews, but this app deserves 10 stars.

Excellent software. Don't pay attention to anyone claiming this is too expensive. This is far superior to a paper dictionary or one of those Franklin devices and worth a lot more than what they're charging. And it's 100% offline - no internet required to use (which also makes it a lot faster). It's got a great UI for quickly finding translations (or conjugations), saving favorites, navigating history... I bought this a year ago and Ultralingua has regularly updated it with new features to make it even faster to use, and more complete. This has easily been the most useful thing I brought with me when living in Peru for 6 months.

Not sure if it was worth it..... I bought this app for twenty dollars, which is expensive if the app is not worth it. Since I bought it, it has not been updated and I would like new features, like maybe you could say the word and it looks it up. Also there are a lot of slang words missing that I wish was there and also some expressions with multiple words in English that are not there or are hard to find if it isn't typed the exact same way. Overall it is useful but not as useful as j would wish and sometimes I have to go to google translate for a lot of information.

So worth it. I'm an honors Spanish 4 and AP spanish 5 student at high school planning to continue until I'm fluent enough to become a translator. This applacation amazes me. It goes very in depth and has just about every word I can think of. What it doesn't have it'll also let you search for online. This is so much more convienient than an actual textbook dictionary and far more useful. This gives you every verb tense for each individual verb. Worth more than $20 in my opinion. So 5 stars for the great price. Anything else like this is way more expensive.

Almost Perfect-- Ultralingua Please Read!!!. If you are considering a Spanish-English dictionary look no further. This is the most complete, user-friendly, and convenient dictionary available. I HAVE ONE SUGGESTION--- As many users of this dictionary will be students of Spanish, professors, translators etc (all of which I have been at some point), it would be an invaluable addition to provide some sort of "favorites" option. This option would allow users to review and study words they have selected as favorites. The "history" option is ok, but not quite as functional as a list of words that the user could create by simply selecting an option upon looking up a word. I have discussed this option with colleagues and other users and many agree that such an option would perfect this already great dictionary. This option would of course be one of the great advantages offered by an iPhone based app.

Great but one request. This app is very handy but I would like to see the addition of which country/region uses each word. I want to make sure that if I am in Spain I don't use a word that's from Mexico. Sometimes you are just not understood but others you end up saying something vulgar. (e.g. Coger means to grab, to take, or to take hold of something in Spain but in Latin America it can be understood as very vulgar) I understand the no phrase translator since they are very complex and usually contain many errors. Google's translator might get up to 70% right but that's about the best one could hope for. Thanks for a good product though.

I will enjoy this very much.. The price may be a little high, but I'm willing to pay it for the convenience. It's just what I want. I wish I had this last year when I was in Spain. A little dictionary takes much to long. This is fast and when you find your word there are lots of common phrases that you may want to use. There are conjugations, phrases, tenses and such. My wishes, for the app developers, would be: I would like the ability to hear the word. I would like a keyboard that is able to use these: é & ñ to find a word in Spanish. Without these the word meaning is totally different. I would also like to be able to go back to the last screen. There is no way to do this, you must re-enter the word you originally entered. Hope this is helpful to anyone that is fussing over the price. The price is what it is and I took a chance and I'm glad that I did. I'm far from being a rich woman, but when it helps me learn I'm more apt to make an exception. Education is a beautiful thing. Never stop learning. Love my iPhone, bring on the apps, great tools. Spanish-English Translation Dictionary by Ultralingua. The dictionary program itself is good. I have no complaints with its' ability to translate from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. The extra ability to review various verb tenses and translate numbers is also nice. What surprised me after purchase was that there is no thesaurus feature included. I had been using the web version of Ultralingua Mobile that includes both a dictionary and thesaurus. I assumed this was included in the software given the $20 price tag. As a supervisor of bilingual student teachers I needed software that was more responsive than a web based program can provide without a fast internet connection. Thus the need for a dedicated program like Ultralingua offers. The software seems a bit costy given its limitations. I will hope that in future updates a thesaurus feature is added.

Absolutely useful. I keep referring to it many times a day when traveling. It is a lifesaver.

Price is only part of the equation. Yes, $30 was too high. $10 will probably sell many more copies. Ultralingua apparently agreed that $30 wasn't going to work and lowered the price. It's been said by others but Apple has nothing to do with setting prices so slamming Apple for an app's price seems unfair. I felt comfortable buying the app for $20 after having first checked out the Ultralingual web site for more details. After ten minutes of trying the purchased app I found it easy to use. I had no problems with conjugations. As advertised, one does not to be online to use it. Searched-for words displayed in multiple phrase context seems extensive. In practical terms, traveling with a paper version is no picnic. I have yet to find a reliable Spanish-English paper version that fits easily in a pocket. And I most always have my iPod Touch with me so I've added a comprehensive dictionary at no extra weight. Electronic pronunciations would be nice but not sure how much more that would add to the size of the app. Unless I'm missing something, including a simple Help file explaining basic operation may be helpful for some users? We'll see how far a $20 purchase price goes when it comes time for any future updates.

hasn. I've looked up words I wanted to learn and words they never teach you but that most people use (you know what I'm talking about). It has it all! I also find it extremely helpful that it will conjugate verbs with the touch of a button. It also has a great feature that, when you look up a word, it shows phrases using that word and words that come before and after it in the dictionary. I've learned a lot by scrolling through that info whenever I look something up. If you need a serious language app that you can count on, this one is definitely worth the money.

Fantastic app for students. I bought this for my AP Spanish class this year and I've been using it on my Summer assignments. It's incredibly handy and convenient. Beats looking up words in dictionaries, or pulling out separate books for verb conjugations - just search for a verb to conjugate in all tenses. I haven't yet come across a word which wasn't in its database. The dictionary is great, lots of detail and description but not overwhelming. Easy to access. Looking up and conjugating verbs is extremely easy and reliable. The numbers feature is really handy although I don't need it as much. Might be more handy if I went to a Spanish-speaking country and had to figure out how to say the total on a bill or something, but not so much for a classroom setting. Overall an extremely easy-to-use, reliable and helpful app. I'm using it on my iPod Touch 1st gen and it works perfectly. DEFINITELY worth the $20 for someone in an educational environment like me. 5 stars!

Great app. Yeah, it's pricey for an app, but it's comporable to translation books, and it's a heck of a lot more convenient and useful. The verb conjugation with every tense is really great. That alone makes this app 5 stars. You can buy a Spanish dictionary, and a Spanish verb book, OR you can buy this app that you can easily take with you everywhere and it outperforms the books. If you're serious about learning Spanish, get this app.

Great to have, need improvements. Improvements needed: 1. the lack of back button >> the most elementary brousing expectation; my hand keeps looking for it but it's not there. 2. the lack of compassion >> for example, 'coger con lazo' translates to 'noose' and that's it. Please, expand! This certainly is more concise but fails to do its original job, which is to convey meaning clear and easy. There are way too many phrases to mention like this. 3. the lack of examples >> 'formulas' are given very extensively yet without examples of application. Improvement #2 and 3 is more to your team of scholars than engineers. Please, be more compassionate. Still it's a great job since you are the only one so far in the game and I've been waiting for a resident dictionary for iphone so badly. Thank you.

Useful!!. I love this helpful ap. The verb conjugations are great ways to remember some tricky irregular forms. The favorites gesture dodo lets you make a list of words you might see sometimes but can’t quite retain. Same applies to their French and Italian apps, by the way...

Absolutely Wonderful!. I am currently learning Spanish. This app has been a most helpful tool! I love how the verb conjugation is displayed! This app will be most useful during our upcoming trip to Spain and for many more years to come!

great app so far!. I have only used this app during the last week and it is doing everything that I want it to so far. It is missing a few words and it would be nice if it had the power of a large dictionary, but is easily as good as the pocket translation dictionaries (even better with the conjugations - what is the subjunctive for caber?) and more convenient. I have no problems with the cost (why are people prepared to pay $10 for a game without complaining, and not double that for something useful?) - good job!

Well done. This program is beautiful! I have multiple Spanish-English dictionaries, but none compare to this! The new update fixed a lot of little annoyances. The new history and back buttons options is very sweet. If you really want to learn Spanish: buy this software and download all the coffee-break Spanish podcasts. Listen to the podcasts all the time. In the car at home at work. Look up and learn words with this software program. You will be pleasantly suprised!

Just a stupid dictionary. No translation. Just a dictionary.

Suberb, Versatile Program. Now living in Mexico and reviving my 8th grade Spanish after 50 years, I can testify to the usefulness and efficiency of this program. Today I took two minutes before entering the hardware store and was able to ask for a plumbing part I don't even know the name of in English! It's a great product, and the new features (fuzzy logic search and history) seem well thought-out and truely useful. I guess this review is a rave.

BEST APP EVER!. If you need an app to help you learn Spanish, especially if you are in a Spanish class or in a situation where you may need easy access to a translation, I can't suggest a better tool than this app! It's been helping me learn Spanish and to talk to my boyfriend who actually knows no English, and I knew almost no Spanish before this! Without this app, I sadly think the relationship would not have really made it this far since I don't think we would have been really able to communicate as much as we would have liked. I never thought I would spend this much on an app, but it truly has been worth every penny!!

Rate the product not the price! Its well worth it.. This is an excellent product which was likely the result of a significant number of dollars and man hours. If you want to Google a translation every time you need it, go for it. Don't criticize this product based on cost. The $20 that this application now costs is less that a standard dictionary and saves a great amount of time, especially IF YOU DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AT THE TIME. After looking at Ultralingua's website, I'm excited to see what they come up with for the iPhone next.

User friendly. I’ve used a variety of Spanish English dictionaries. This is by far the best. It not only does single words but phrases and conjugations. Well worth the money

Excellent. I used this dictionary during a series of trips to Peru to work on a documentation project and found it totally indispensable. As a linguist I can attest to the quality of the software and have little doubt that it is the best dictionary app around. The sample sentences are great, the look-up method is handy, and the ease of use and intuitive design make this program a must-have for anyone learning Spanish or traveling to a Spanish-speaking country. Good job, Ultralingua.

A linguist's dream. This app is amazing. When you look something up, it presents you with a wide range of possible meanings, tons of idiomatic expressions, and also the next several head words alphabetically- so you can discover other words just like when you use a real dictionary! Unlike a dictionary, however, Ultralingua will correct my spelling. If I hear a word and spell it with an s rather than a z or c, the dictionary will automatically suggest the correct spelling. Might be best for people with a bit of Spanish already, so that when you look up a conjugated verb form and the dictionary autosuggests the infinitive form, you can recognize it and see what's going on. I don't mind that a bit, though, and I would give this app eight stars if I could. I have recommended it to several people already!

I learned Spanish with just this dictionary. I LOVE this app/dictionary! I moved to So America 2 1/2 years ago knowing no Spanish. This dictionary on my iPhone has been my friend and companion since then and has been instrumental in helping me learn Spanish and expand my vocabulary daily. I continue to use it and love the fact that I can reference all of the various verb tenses for any given verb. Can't say enough about it, highly recommended!

Almost worth the price.. This seems to be very stable and well thought out. The conjugations are great and the dictionary works well, but is lacking a little in the vocabulary. I think the biggest missing function from this app is the ability to search for common phrases. It's great having them as part of the results (as examples to whatever word you search for) but to be able to search for them would be VERY powerful and handy to many, I'm sure. Just because a lot of very common phrases don't have a literal translation. Please add support for phrases and this will be a killer app that will forever replace my paper dictionary!

Impressed. After using other translators on other platforms I was hesitant when buying this iphone app....it is very good with fantastic integration accross verb conjugations. Perhaps just a few more words now (occasionally can't find the work I want). But great!

I bought it... am i impressed???. Well yes... and no. The vocab that it does have, it does to perfection. BUT there is a lot of vocabulary it doesn't have and its very irritating if your looking for a particular word. The verb conjugations are really good for the spanish verbs at least. It needs to be updated with more words because for the $24 dollars or whatever you would think you could just go down to the shop and buy a spanish dictionary there. Just more words!!! Everything else is good!

Franchement embarassant. Le titre français de cette application a lui-même été traduit avec une erreur. On doit écrire "Espagnol-anglais", non "Espagnole-anglais". Il s'agit du substantif, non d'un adjectif. Non mais... la crédibilité en prend un coup.

Great app..worth the money!. I've been using this app for months now and it has replaced my hard copy span/eng dictionary. I use this app daily. The history feature makes it much more useful than a traditional dictionary since I don't have to re-look up a word if I forget it. I agree with Mr.bear18777, there needs to be a link between definitions and verb conjugations, why do I have to exit and retype the verb to see the definition? Fix that and I'll give it 5 stars.

Good Dictionary, Bad App. This was the first app I ever bought (2008). It's been very helpful in my travels when I didn't have access to the internet. Unfortunately, there's a bug in the program that only shows up after continued use. The only way to solve it is to uninstall and reinstall the app. If I leave the app open and then turn the phone off, it crashes when I turn the phone on again. If I jump to another program and then back to this app, it starts the app anew. The history function stops working and the app always opens at a word I was searching for weeks ago. My other problem with this app is that you can only copy one word at a time which is absolutely useless.

Like it at all. Simple but concise

Great dictionary. Acts like a complete dictionary. Everything is indexed and searchable. Conjugation table and various tenses is quite complete. Number translation is quite handy!! Well worth it and invaluable for somone learning.

I tried the new users interface GUI - no thanks. BRING BACK OLD INTERFACE - as option perhaps. OR FIVE NE MY MONEY BACK!! The old design had its flaws (too thick, more taps necessary) but it was efficient. Now u have to scroll kilometres and miles of text to get to what I need and it's not good on eye too.

Great other then.... This is a good app if you already know how to pronounce words in Spanish. I do not so I have to flip back and forth between this app and one that tells me hoe to pronounce the words. Fix that up and I would give it 5-5. But Til then

Extremely useful in Mexico. While all the slang and not so nice, but useful, 4 letter words are not there, this is a very solid translation app. Me la gusta.

Good dictionary. Dictionary is very good and i think worth the price; its helping me a lot here in argentina. However, Developer, please update the app and include one touch definition from the verb conjugation feature. Why cant we click on the infinitive of the verb for definition when using the verb conjugator? We need to re-type the word in the definition search, this can be time consuming and is not intuitive! Otherwise keep up the good work

Invaluable!. I'm an expat living in Mexico and I use my Ultralingua translator constantly. Worth every penny and the usages are quite current The conjugation tables are great too, and the entire guide is well-organized and easy to use. It would be great to see future updates that incorporate some more Mexican colloquialisms and street slang. Are any planned?

Great app. I have had this app for years now and this update has been great. Very extensive library that you can take with you without an internet connection and the update improved the interface. I would recommend this for anyone!

Perfect learning tool. I am taking Spanish classes and I was able to get rid of two translation books with this app. Very easy to use and the conjugation function is incredible. Worth every penny!

More difficult with update. I have loved this app and use it muchisimo. I really dislike some of the changes, i.e. when looking up conjugations why is the English needed. It just gets in the way. One already knows the definition or can find it easily. All one needs is the Spanish conjugation. I at first did not like the font but then did figure out that I could change it to a more readable.

New update improves it a lot. I probably would have given this 4 stars before the latest update, but now with the back buttons and history it's much better. A really useful tool if you need it. The price makes this not a casual toy, but if you need a serious Spanish/English dictionary, this one is good. This is far superior to the $75 electronic dictionary my wife has.

Frustrating. Not worth the money in my opinion. It's very frustrating to use the Verb tab to look up verbs that you know the spelling of but not the meaning. If you type in the verb you will get the conjugations but not the meaning. You have to go to the dictionary first, look up the verb and then click on conjugate. You should be able to just use the Verb tab to look up both the meaning and the conjugations. Please fix this. There are also other ways in which this app (for the iPhone) is not very user friendly.

Need a Spanish-English dict? This is it. A very stable and complete translation dictionary. The best I could find for iPhone/iPod Touch OR laptop. I highly recommend it. Price? Higher than many apps, but for a professional, serious, quality app such as this, I think it's worth $20.

very useful. I am amazed that this program is getting such a low average rating. yeah, the interface could be refined a bit, but overall I find the program to be very useful. in fact it is a pleasure to use. even if it did pronounciation I dont think ivwould use it. spanish is easy to pronounce! I'm very happy with the size of the dictionary.

Perfect Pocket Dictionary. A. All you idiots who "reviewed" this without even owning it are "mucho obtuso". Nobody cares if you're so broke you can't afford $20 for a Spanish/English dictionary on your iPhone. Think it's too much? Don't buy it and keep your pie hole shut. B. This is very slick, easy to use and comprehensive (250K entries) & works for iPhone & iPod Touch. C. $20 for this App is a deal for not having to carry a paperback, and looking up a word is 10 times faster.

Well worth the money!. Though a little pricey I bought this app when I was living in Nicaragua. I have used this app hundreds of times to look up words and am now fluent in Spanish! Except for a few slang words I never came across one that it didn't know! The conjugations are extremely helpful!

Great App. Don't judge the actual app based on the low reviews. This is a FANTASTIC translator, dispite it's high price. Works very well, and is very easy to use. It allows you to do much more than your typical spanish to english conversions. The clickable links, the numbers, and especially the congigations prove to be incredibly usefull. For a simple trip to Mexico, this may be a bit much. But for my purposes ( I'm currently taking multiple college level Spanish courses ) this program is a must!

Great software. Fantastic.. The people who are complaining about the 20 price must not have actually bought it or used it. This app is totally fantastic and a great value. I'm trying to learn Spanish and I am at an intermediate level. I'm going to Mexico in a few days and this will take the place of my translation dictionary. Also nice is you can lookup any tense or congugation of a word. So if you search for hablo it will show you the root hablar as well as common phrases using that verb. I am shocked at how good this software is.

Great Program!. This is a great Spanish Dictionary with thousands of words. $20 is reasonable for such a superior product. You'll won't find an electronic dictionary for that price! People shouldn't bad mouth this product unless they bought it and and were truely unsatisfied with it. Overall, this dictionary is very useful and the conjugator is perfect.

Perfect. Fantastic interface. Very easy to use. Not only does the app translate, but it conjugates verbs in all tenses for you. Very useful in my Spanish class when I come across a weird verb. $20 is steep, but worth it in my opinion.

Good but lacks examples. I decided to pay the higher price for this dictionary but am disappointed with the lack of colloquial and context based examples of usage. If all you want is a dictionary with a wide range of words then this is a decent choice. However, if you think knowing HOW to use a word is important, better to look at Oxford or use the free WordReference app (only Internet based - no local app). Seems like no one dictionary has all the features a power user might want.

Crash Problem Fixable. Ultralingua Support suggested deleting and reinstalling app to correct the crashing problem in the latest upgrade. I tried it and it works fine now.

excellent!. for all you cabezones out there who are complaining about the price.. . .go and buy a paperback pocket dictionary. This app is awesome and smooth. Im very happy. . . .im a spanish major in college and im using this quite often its worth it if youre seriuos about the language. If you just want a spanish app to have one. . . .go fly a kite and buy something else. This is worth its price if you know how to use it.

Krod02 is on crack. I just tried copy/paste and had no problem. From time to time, Ultralingua has issued an update with a bug, but they fix them quickly. Most updates have been excellent. I've had this app for years. It takes very little space, works fast and has accurate definitions. In this case, you get what you pay for.

Updates made it worse and unusable!. I have used Ultralingua Spanish for some time. The best feature used to be that I could type in a verb in any tense and the program would give me the verb infinitive. Not so anymore, as the program does not recognize the verb at all, making it unusable for me. The earlier version offered this very basic feature which made the app very useful. Without this feature I have no choice but to go out and purchase a different dictionary, making me an unhappy Ultralingua former user. One star...

What happened to landscape mode? Thumbs down!. I also have the German & French dictionaries from Ultralingua, and can't believe that with this update, the landscape mode is gone from all three. Frankly I'd much rather do without the latest 'improvements' but at least be able to use this on my iPad. The worst part about it is that even in portrait mode, when you try to enter any text for search, the keyboard that pops up is in… landscape mode, which blocks the field where you're supposed to enter the text. Thus rendering this app TOTALLY useless. Please fix this PRONTO!

campbep. Worth it to anyone dealing with spanish-english translation on a day to day basis. I find it ideal to retrieve those hard to remember spanish conjugations. Having the whole app stored on the ipod (no need for internet) is what make this a fantastic app. More advanced speakers will find this worth every penny. A+ !

Price doesn't dictate how good it is. Low ratings for not liking a price should be banned. I bought this dictionary to help me with my rusty Spanish ((four years of it)) It conjugates, and offers similar words, academic vs real world, and more. I love it, and it's quick and easy to use. I'd buy it again.

Works well. Does excellent job of replacing my pocket dictionary and much faster and more expressions and conjugations. I am very happy I bought. Alas after using For two months too many crashes and too many times it just sits there and will not look for new words. It also gibes some very outdated translations that often come up first. Still useful but at this price ... Just upgraded to latest versión (2.3) and now simply crashes - please fix or give me my money back Just got a quick response from support - needed to kill And reload Program (1.3) And now loads fine - will see if fixes previous version crashes New versión (1.3 or 1.31) seems to fix crashing problem

Great for traveling. This came in handy on a recent trip to Mexico. Great dictionary and verb tenses on my iPhone. To those that say it is overpriced, on my last trip I used online services and that added up with international roaming charges. This is all contained in the App and doesn't need to get on the internet. Much more convenient than carrying a dictionary and a verb tense book around everywhere.

I have to agree . . .. I am not a Spanish speaker but am about to learn the language. After looking around the app for awhile and looking up some words, I have to agree a back button would be nice to have. It would make a great free upgrade!

Essential for Spanish Travelers. I just returned from Costa Rica from one of my many work related trips there. Having recently purchased this app, I was anxious to try it out. I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. While my spanish is passable, there are still many words I don't know. Having this gave me instant access to every word I needed. It also provided all the verb tenses. This app has become my new best friend.

This is a good Spanish dictionary.. I'm a intermediate level speaker and work as a pharmacist in a spanish speaking community. It's deep enough to cover all but the most esoteric medical terms. I like having complete conjugation for many verbs and a history of previous searches. It has replaced my pocket dictionary. Four stars because it fails to note where in Latin America or Spain idiomatic vocabulary is used. ***Note: Negative imperative conjugations are missing. Perhaps this will be addressed by the publisher.

Perfect!. I am in Spanish 2 at a community college and have been using this several times every day for the last 3.5 months. It works great and I have had zero problems. I used to carry a paperback dictionary and "505 Spanish Verbs" with me to class. Now I never use either. I am really pleased with my purchase.

Whoever said this is a waste of money.... ...and you can find the same thing online, first of all, I have NOT seen anything online that has such an extensive dictionary (words in English i've never even heard of!) plus the amazing conjugator. Secondly, even if there is, what if you don't have Internet access when you need it?? Yeah, this thing doesn't use Internet. BUY THIS.

it works with issues. so $20, to me actually isn't that bad. any small dictionary that you'd buy is going to start at $10. This dictionary however has loads more words and definitions which is awesome. not without issues though, such as for the verb freir the past participle should be frito and not freido! Trusting your dictionary to not make you sound like a fool is important. I don't know what else is in here that is wrong but you lose a star for that mess.

dictionary delight. Absolutely thrilled with this particular app--I no longer have to cart around an immense Spanish-English dictionary when going to class. Even better: I can take it with me where-ever I go with the same convenience (to aid in the learning process). Definitely helpful and a space-saver. Now I'm hopefully waiting on the Japanese-English version...(the latter would be big among otaku, like myself).

Fixed - YEAH!. Now I can give it 5 stars again! A fast fix and once again, the app is great. Even my Spanish teacher liked this app so now I can tell him to buy it! Furthermore, Kudos to the support team who got back to me via email with help!

Useful. Very useful app, but the screen will go white periodically and I have to quit the app in order for it to function again. Also many words I hear with my Spanish friends that I cannot find in here. Overall great app with all things considered, though.

I got charged for reloading apps. I'm out $40!! I had the Spanish-English and French-English dictionaries installed on my iPhone and iPads for a few years and used them often. And as you said, it stopped working after a recent update. So I deleted it (they were both in the same app) and went back in to reinstall both. It didn't say anything about getting them free because I had previously bought both, nor did it ask the confirmation question “Do you mean to buy this dictionary?” So since it didn't ask the confirmation to buy question, I figured it was reinstalling free. Nope. Just got the receipt for both. I WANT MY $40 REFUND, please.

Works well even when you're offline. Ive been using this for more than a year, and I'm still very happy with it. Money well spent! I like the list of expression that follow each word. It looks like the improvements in version 1.2 will be very helpful: easier to see if there is a reflexive verb and more tips for irregular verbs. I wish the verb conjugator were better. For example, others highlight where the verb is irregular. I'm still learning Spanish, and this is a great help.

As a Spanish learner, I love it!. I'm learning Spanish and I've found this dictionary very easy to use and useful. I can look up conjugations unlike in my pocket Langenscheid. The fonts are easy to read. I love the convenience of this dictionary! This is one of my top 5 useful apps so far. Highly recommended.

Great update- don't bother with Bookshelf app though. The Collins Ultralingua dictionaries are great. The one major minus - They need to bring back more easily identifiable icons. The flags worked well for quick easy access to the right dictionary. Also, Do not bother to download the Ultralingua bookshelf. It is just a marketing tool for Ultralingua's benefit not their users'. It forces an extra click to get to the dictionary you need while presenting you with needless commercials and social media options.

Amazing. This app is incredible. I think it would be beneficial to have under the "tenses" what each means like in the app you see the say pluscuamperfecto of the verb "saltar" but many don't know what this means. Also it would be helpful if when you type suggestions come up like in the app SpanDict

This is just what I need. I know that the price is a little steep but this is a very good product and is easy to use! You type in a word and not only will the software translate it for you it will show you examples of that word in a sentence. I personaly think that is very helpful. Finding the conjugations of a verb or translation for a number are even easier... simply start typing

Even 5 stars at $19. Just excellent. Cant remember not finding a word plus the links from dictionary to conjugation are great. Also love the number converter. Makes check writing easy. Just not sure if it is helping or hurting my spanish as it is so easy to use. Even at $19 if you live in a spanish language intensive environment it is a great app.

Maestro. Great little app! I bought to verify conjugations of certain irregular Spanish verbs - which it does very well. You can't expect an enormous vocabulary list on such a small app, but this one is fine for everyday use and for travel.

Complete & near-perfect app!. This app is the most complete I've seen. All the included features are necessary and all the necessary features are included. The dictionary fulfills all but the moreso regional or colloquial words. I love the wide array of definitions for a word - including idioms! The be-all, end-all app for bilingual students.

Well worth it. I got this Freshman year for my spanish class, and now in junior year, in my 3rd year of spanish I'm still using it. What's really nice is just having all the conjugations on hand for every verb, especially when I'm learning knew tenses. Sentence examples would be nice to help put words into context, but to me the app was well worth the $20. Spanish homework and papers made easier.

Hmmm.... I am an avid Spanish student, and I have used this app many, many times. I had originally rated it 5 stars. Why did you remove the Past Participles and Gerunds from the bottom of each verb conjugation page? .... As a student of Spanish, these were very helpful. Now they are gone. ..... Also, you reordered the verb conjugation categories.... Inconvenient. .... These changes drop my rating to a 3.

Loved until update. Updated application last night and now it crashes in half a second upon opening. Please fix. This was my lifeline learning Spanish in south America. Whatever reason it was upgraded needs to be fixed. If the ipad needs a seperarte app please do that. Now I have an inoperable nearly perfect app worth less than the one dtsr I'm giving it. Will add stars if develpers respond to my pleas for help. Sorry to admit but I'm glad someone else has the same problem.

A great buy. So I use this for my Spanish classes in school and I have to say, this was a great purchase. Not only definitions, but there are GREAT verb conjugations as well. I'm sure I would be failing without this. Go buy it! UPDATE: I upgraded now it crashes immediatly after starting. Fix it please.

Great update!. Finally! A new turnover! This update gets rid of annoying 3-way search that never made sense to me. Finally everything can be searched in one box that is faster than ever! Great new look too :) Well... Yes. I admit it. This app is expensive. But for a dictionary that also conjugates sure worth every penny. Plus this app does not require internet connection, which makes it really handy. You know whats the point of "dictionary" if it requires internet connection.... Overall, great value, great app :D
