Numba one. i usually don’t do review but this app is amazing. props to developers. i am glad there is no subscription. although sometime is show recommended videos and short but not all the time and there blurred. great to watch tutorials without seeing useless stuff

Super Useful, 10/10. I absolutely love this app! Super grateful for the developer and the smooth functionality of this app. It's very intuitive. It's given me the ability to enjoy YouTube again! I hated shorts because they're distracting and I hate that you can't turn them off in Youtube's mobile app! I don't even like the infinite suggestions that Youtube gives you and this takes care of that! I love this app and I use it for iphone, ipad, macbook! I've even recommended it to multiple friends! It really is that good.

App is not working for YouTube. Followed all steps, and YouTube still showed all recommended feeds. Contacted the developer. Awaiting response

Breaks the YouTube search on occasion. Works for the most part. Every now and then it breaks searching on youtube unless I turn off shorts blocking 1 star: It keeps breaking the search snd its pissing me off

Wow. Super Impressed.. Just downloaded this and I'm amazed by how well it works. Excellent plugin. Someone else pointed out that they felt like they were taking a little bit of a risk since there aren't very many ratings on this, which is why I wanted to give it 5 stars. This will stop me from wasting so much time. Thank you so much for creating this Yevhen Tretiakov. One small request—I love being able to center videos after removing the sidebar of recommendations. Would it be possible to also center the main page search bar and maybe make it a little bigger after someone removes the main page recommendations? Just to counterbalance the massive amount of white space that's left after the recommendations are gone. But, seriously, very happy with this plugin. Download it already!

Great app. I thought it stopped working after recent iPhone update, but actually it just reset and I had to click the extensions icon in safari again

It works until it doesn’t.. It was blocking shorts for the first few days then stopped without warning.

Doing God's work.. This app is incredible. Finally able to just watch videos without being bombarded with doom scrolling AI stuff.

One of the best purchases I’ve made.. This app saved me a lot of time, now I even forgot about shorts. Many thanks to the developers.

SLOWS loading significantly. It does everything it promises but loading of previews and videos is slowed down significantly. Uninstalled it two minutes after buying it.

Best App for Improving Life. This app cured my YT / Phone addiction better than anything else ever has. Even deleting YT app and blocking site wasn’t as good as this. As a YT premium member, I can watch whatever video I need. But now it’s not addicting. I encourage you to try this app, remove all stories / feeds / and comments, and experience a clearer life.

I just found this app today - love it so far.. I was switching to the Edge browser just for Youtube videos because Edge (the Chrome App Store) has a great Youtube extension. But today I found UnTrap for Youtube. It gives me EXACTLY what I felt was missing. I’ve only been testing it today, but I’m loving it so far.

Good App, just some bugs here and there. This app works well and the level of customization is amazing for something with no subscription model. The only 2 issues is that: 1. New Searches will not load while I’m using the extension. Previous searches do though. 2. The extension does make Safari laggy. It’s not too big a deal but it’s still kinda annoying. Overall good extension and worth your money.

It works. I have reduced my screen time by an unbelievable amount but what is most rewarding is what I have done on my spare time.

"pro user" subscription feature for a paid app is CRAZY. Otherwise app works fine, but this was a crazy move

This company is a scam. I paid money for this app. Suddenly, it stopped worked. That’s because they changed it to a subscription model so I have to pay again. This company doesn’t care about helping you, they care about squeezing out any bit of money from their low effort app. Disappointing.

My best blocking app but the app has only one problem. The problem is when I went to the channels & videos blocklist and then I went to the channels filter I tried to put some channels ID it didn't hide any channel’s videos and it didn't work and same thing with the videos filter I tried to put videos keyword it’s also didn’t work

Awesome App. Ton of Customization. Title pretty much speaks for itself. Was expecting just a simple turn on and off button for the home page suggestions. Turns out you can customize well over 250 parameters. Well worth the money.

Most features don't work for me. The only feature that worked is the landing page selection. None of the feature-hiding buttons worked. I tried the troubleshooting steps but they didn't fix the issue. Appreciate you making an extension like this, but sadly I will give a 1 star.

Many billing confusion. Not intend to spam with a low rating but there’s not a way to have 2-way communication with the developer.. App Store says it allows family share but my family accounts cannot download after family share. The billing session on the app page also describes a subscription based while I paid the one time download fee.. Hope these get addressed in some way

Channels & Videos Blocklist. I’m having trouble filtering out Channels, whenever I put in their Channel ID name it doesn’t work and it’s the same with the Video filter as well?

Great tool, shame on me for not reading closely. I bought this hoping it’d block the range of. IPs the yt app loads from, I guess that’s not possible, but happy to support. Might change my viewing habits and uninstall just to benefit from this.

Oh dear, I can’t load it. It’s all well and good until I click the puzzle piece and it says “Upload video” and/or “Go live.” Nope, I don’t want to upload anything I have or go live in basically my pjs. I don’t think I’ve loaded any extensions on my iPad but have on my PC. It shouldn’t be that hard since there’s a clear step-by-step set of instructions but that puzzle piece doesn’t go where they say they should. Please help.

Works Well. The app works well and has many features which are perfect. The only thing that would be a benefit is adding the mobile extension to chrome but that may not be possible im not sure.

Great app. Wonderful execution on the app. I would like something similar to focus modes with the app though, I use minimalistic YouTube for when I'm working and I want to swap between work mode with minimal YouTube and a leisure mode where I allow more recommendations and such

Disappointing App. These features do an incredible job on my Windows desktop, so I decided to try it on my phone but shortly found out that it does not entirely remove all YouTube Shorts from the YouTube website on my Safari app! Shorts were mainly the reason why I bought this app, so I’m disappointed (especially since I paid).

Phenomenal work. Sincere, thanks to the developer for the effort put in to creating this liberating extension.I imagine adding all of these options is no easy task, however, it’s giving me a lot of freedom over how I consume content.So far everything has been working without bugs and any customizations take place immediately.

Invasive permissions. When allowing the extension to work on YouTube.com, the settings app specifically says that this will allow the extension to read and write sensitive information such as your password, phone number, and credit card number?! That seems too invasive to me. To rub salt in the wound, I can't even ask for a refund because the purchase does not show up in my purchase history with Apple. Hopefully that is updated soon and I can get a refund.

Simply works. I have tried many different ways to break my YouTube addiction and thus far UnTrap is the only way I hat has worked for me. It simply works. Set it up and forget about it. You will regain so much of your time and you will become much more intentional with your YouTube use.

Lagging Behind. This app needs to do a better job of keeping up with YouTube updates. There’s a bunch of YouTube additions from the most recent update that you can no longer hide: ie: buttons underneath the video, ‘podcasts’ in the left menu, etc

Amazing. If you can handle self-control. There are a few things I enjoy on YouTube. There is a lot that is soul sucking. The customization is extensive and perfect. If you can find someone who can put a password on this and block you from getting on the app... it will work.

This is incredible. It works so well, and it's incredibly minimalist. No ads, no sign-up or anything like that. The changes you make are also reflected on YouTube in real time, so you can really see what does what.

Tame Your YouTube experience. This is a great app for those of us who are annoyed by YouiTube's chaotic screen presentations. Especially the abominable Shorts. Best of all, it can filter out videos you have already viewed (it does not affect playlists.) It works well with AdBlock.

Does as it says. The plugin works well enough most of the time. Only 2 issues are me not knowing how a plugin worked on safari at first, and occasionally shorts do load onto the page. They disappear after reloading though. All things considered this has broken my habit of doomscrolling so I’d recommend this to someone else

Great app!. I struggle with getting sucked into feeds like youtube. This app is great for helping me turn youtube from a waste of time back into a tool. It used to be perfect. Six months ago, this extension was amazing. It blocked ads and was incredibly customizable. Now, it’s slow, doesn’t even skip ads, and removes playlists and history without me turning those settings on. Emailing the developer hasn’t done anything. It’s such a shame, I loved this app.

Amazing app - Worth the investment. The one time fee might be a bit daunting at first, but it saves me a lot of time and attention so it ended up paying itself off pretty quickly. I could focus on my work more and improve my life. I don’t understand the negative reviews that complain about it not working on the YouTube app, this is meant to be a Safari extension. I do have one suggestion though, I want this thing to work on the Web app rather than just on the browser, so I could have a more seamless experience.

Solved My Content Addiction. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone considering buying it. I have deleted all of my social media accounts. The only thing that remained was this constant access to YouTube because you didn’t even need to have an app. There is so much customization available. You can choose exactly what you want and don’t want to see. Something else I really appreciate is that it’s available across devices for the same price! I can use it on my Mac and on my phone. It has drastically reduced my screen time and I am forever thankful that there’s smart people out here making my life better!!

Worst purchase. I don’t know how this app calls itself an “app”, it is completely useless unless you’re on a website. Which makes the app completely pointless. It feels unfinished and it frustrates you and needing to constantly switch to a browser just makes it worse. Incredible. Perfect title for what this app does. The ability to hide shorts, customize your viewing experience. These are settings I’m surprised YouTube doesn’t offer naturally. It integrates so smoothly. Glad it’s a one time purchase too. I recommend to so many people. Might slow down load time by a few seconds when playing a video, but I don’t care. Improves the experience night and day

Terrible. This does not work as shown in the screenshots in the App Store. The app made a crazy noise as soon as I enabled it - which was my first indicator that it was absolute garbage. Then I couldn’t turn anything off (ie Shorts). And all the lists of ways to customize the extension were non existant. Requesting a refund.

Paid app hiding a pro account for feature listed here. This should be banned from the App Store. You pay for the app, then for "more" features you need to subscribe to the app. BUT the description here don’t say anything about a subscription to have access to the IA feature, what else is missing to the app I paid?

Thank you for making this blocker for iOS, it does the same thing (with more options it seems). An absolute must for youtube with today's layout. I was a little skeptical because of the lack of reviews but gave it a shot because I'm sick of youtube putting shorts EVERYWHERE. Not only does this give you the option of customizing practically every UI element on desktop but it allows full customization on my iphone and ipad. For someone who can easily get distracted and waste a bunch of time, this extension is a life saver.

Shorts are gone. I hate YouTube shorts because they’re such a time waster. This app eliminated them completely. It was a little confusing at first because I had to go through all of the sections of the site to disable shorts in every page. It would be nice to have a single button to remove them everywhere on the site. Make sure you know it only works in the YouTube website, not the app.

Doesn’t work for App. De. The pictures make it seem like it works for the app (because the developer probably knows this is what most people are looking for) however it only works if you use YouTube through Safari. Do not buy if your intending to use it on the YouTube App

Request!. This is the best, most practical piece of software I’ve ever used for productivity. Will continue recommending it to everyone I know. One thing I’d like to request is this- When I remove thumbnails from the video cards, I can no longer see the video duration. This causes me to click on videos to see that crucial piece of information, which is counter to the point of UnTrap. If The developer could make it so that the duration of a video could be seen next to the title, this extension would go from a 99/100 to 100/100. thanks!

Amazing, helpful, everything. I’ve been going through deleting all social media, because social networking isn’t a thing anymore, it’s all social media now. And I wanted to be able to keep using YouTube but shorts are stupid. Through this app, it only works on YouTube in the safari app, but that’s okay because I use Chrome as my browsing app, so I deleted the YouTube app and safari is now my “YouTube” app. Now the shorts are gone, the suggestions are gone, algorithm has been defeated!

Garbage NOW !!!🗑️. Used to block videos from auto playing in youtube search feeds it doesn’t anymore. That’s garbage. Unhooking and untrapping from the algorithms as much as possible is a best case life scenario.

Free yourself from low quality distraction.. Untrap is an excelent app that gives the user full control over the content they see on youtube. The end result is that you are able to access valuable videos on youtube without being subjected to the low quality video thumbnails designed to hijack your attention and elicit an emotional response. If you were to take a road trip to a national park, would you want to see billboards on the side of the road every ten feet? Of course not! You are there for the scenery. And that is what untrap gives you with youtube. Highly reccomend everyone give it a shot.

Boon for parents to safely share youtube links with their kids. With this extension, I can now share educational/fun youtube videos with my kids and let them watch it on iOS Safari on their iPads without worrying about them clicking on related videos or end screen suggestions.

Does not Block Shorts. I bought this app specifically to block YouTube shorts. I followed the setup directions exactly including all permissions and clicking the aa button and putting the settings I want in. Shorts are not being blocked. This is the only reason I bought this app and I’m incredibly disappointed.

Doesn’t work on the YouTube app. I bought this app thinking it would hide distractions from my YouTube app, but it doesn’t. It only works if you look up YouTube videos through the Safari browser. In my opinion that’s pointless. I tried to get a refund, but the seller has not responded… Do not purchase this app if you are expecting it to work on the YouTube app.

The quality high bar has been set by this app.. I wanted to stop youtube from putting the description on the right side of the video, after clicking the 'more' button. this is super useful. I used to be super addicted to youtube but i can’t just block the domain from my network since there is so much useful tutorials. This app is really nice since you can just block shorts and make the platform less predatory

Brilliant idea. Would love to have on Amazon, too. I think you could expand this idea further, especially to stores like Amazon. I wish I could just hide recomended junk there, it could save people tons of money—if they just focus on what they’d like to search for and purchase, instead of getting distracted by Amazon‘s recomended shopping items. Managing YouTube Addiction: Effective Despite Bugs. 7.3 update edit: I changed my review to 4 stars, since all the hide toggle issues have been addressed as of the latest update. The only thing that is still somewhat of an issue is the question mark icons on the left side sections, like for example “Import / Export / Reset Settings”. They still don’t do anything when you tap on them, and if someone has a question about what is the purpose of any given action, there’s no explanation for it. Lastly, want to clarify that hotkeys section is on the “socialfocus” safari extension, not untrap youtube, but the same issue with the question mark icon applies there as well. Old 3 star review: This extension has helped me with my YouTube addiction, and I feel it is worth the price. I even switched from the Unhook extension to Untrap on the PC version. That being said, there are a few issues with the iOS version, which is why I gave it 3 stars. First, in the bottom navigation bar, the 'Library' page icon still shows even if I have the hide toggle on. Second, in the Library page, the history and playlist sections are not showing even if I don’t have the hide toggle on. The only way for these two sections to show is if I turn off the extension, which defeats the entire purpose. Additionally, in the hotkeys section, the question mark icon doesn’t work when I tap it. I searched through the setup guide and troubleshooting page, but there is no explanation of what exactly hotkeys do. I also would appreciate the addition of at least 1 preset option in the future. I have no problem changing my review to 5 stars if the issues are addressed.

One of the best content blockers I’ve ever used.. I finally feel like I can use and come off of YouTube without going down rabbit holes of wasting time and I can not explain how happy I am to know I can actually block channels now. Highly recommend this app for people who either have YouTube addiction or like using YouTube but fall victim to mindless scrolling. I have been able to minimize my time on YouTube and limit temptations that keep me trapped on the app. However my biggest critique with the app is that when it comes to the keywords section of the Channel and Video blocklist, it doesn’t always seem to work with some words. Not every video with certain keywords will be blocked and if you put a name in the blocklist, from what I’ve done, doesn’t seem to block those videos at all. I’d also like to mention when it came to blocking channels, I had to put in some channel’s IDs into the blocklist twice before their content was eliminated from my feed, so that was a bit much. Other than that, this app is a must have when it comes to content blockers.

Original review: This has been a terrificly useful extension. So many options and it’s great to be even be able to block keywords and such. I’m not clear on the privacy policy though, do these analytics and usage data only include things like what features are used, or are you recording/sending sensitive data like what channels and keywords that are blocked? Does the processing for this extension mostly take place on device. Thank you for a neat app, and thank you in advance for your clarification.

Best. App. Ever.. With this app, you can blott YouTube's TikTok knockoff 'YouTube Shorts' out of the history books forever, and even customize the entire youtube UI. Seriously, just pay the $10, it's worth it. It is reliable and doesn't affect playback either.
