Worst Customer support ever. My weather station has been working for over 3 years but recently the app on my Iphone just shows a blank screen. I’ve tried to delete it and reinstall it and rebooting my phone. When that didn’t work I called the support number and after being put on hold for a while the recording said a tech support person is not available and gave me the option of leaving a message for a callback which I did. No callback came. I will not buy from this Company again

It’s back!. After several weeks of continual crashes, the app is back in full force. Most of the low reviews of late have been because of the ‘white screen’ crashes, an issue which appears to be resolved. Back to being a great app. It gives all the available data from my station and indoor sensors, and on a simple to read platform. My only complaint at all is that it is a bit difficult to add stations, and also you must scroll to the top of the page to switch stations. Neither are deal-breakers. All in all a must-have app for any Ambient station owner.

Stupid new cookie requirement in latest update. I bought the weather station… I shouldn’t have to let the app gather analysis on my usage through the app.. The new cookie requirement to use the app since the new update as of August 9th, 2023, will not let me use the app without accepting their use of the cookie to gather my information and share with numerous other websites and or organizations!! I have picture proof they are lying about what the cookie will be used for.. The initial claim indicates the cookie will only be used to analyze traffic to the one website.. YET, the full “legal” write up describes how many many sites and organizations may have access to my information.. There is not any way to specify for myself how the cookie can be used or how any of the information can be limited.. I will not use this app again until I have control over my “usage” information..

App is unreliable. I like the weather station well enough, and the app is fine - when it works. However, there have been several times when I’ve been away from home and the app was suddenly unable to connect to the station. Since being able to check the weather at home remotely was a main reason for my purchase, this is disappointing. The first few times it simply stopped updating, and I had to contact tech support to get it working again. More recently I got nothing but a white screen when opening the app. Rebooting the phone and reinstalling the app did not work - I had to unplug power from the unit and reboot it - not something I can do remotely, so again I was unable to check conditions when away from home.

App. I love your App but I do have one complaint. Maybe not a complaint but a request. On the rainfall total. It just keeps totaling from the day you installed the instruments. Would there be a way to get a total of Yearly Rainfall? Your can still have the Grand Total but I’d love to also get a Yearly Total. Otherwise I love everything else! If you had the Yearly Total, I’d be giving you a 5 Star rating! Thank you! I still haven’t gotten an answer from my first review. I would love a Calendar-to-date Yearly Total on the Rainfall. Is anyone ever going to respond?

Great aside from white screen issue. Mostly great. Could do with some ability to customize the panels more so I can put ones higher and group them, etc. Get the white screen upon launch that others mention quite a bit, so it’s a bug that hasn’t been fixed for months now. Would love to see that fixed along with some customization options.

Good App to support your stations…. This app honestly does fine. Thank You for supporting your weather station products! One recommendation is to save the last center point and zoom level on the map view. 99% of the time I want see the handful of stations within 3ish miles of me, and not the hundreds that the default location and zoom level pulls in. As a result, that map view would probably perform much better and be more useful.

Pleasant, but unstable. This app is quite nice to use and navigate. It presents plenty of data in tile form and as graphs, and allows you to look at data published by other stations. While overall I like it, it has a rather annoying bug, where every day or two it spontaneously loses the plot and drops into a “something went wrong” screen. Restarting the app and logging back in clears the error, but it is not at all obvious that this is how to restore service.

Recent update issue. I have had this weather station app for several years and find it more useful that my home display with all the information from my station readily available. Unfortunately, with the recent update, they have added an extra step to get to this information. I now must select My Dashbord button to view my infomation from map view of stations in my area. This is a ridiculous extra step. My dashboard gives me an opportunity to see stations near me, IF I want it. With this change it also now has a large left side bar with menu options for things I rarely if ever use. We should have an option to hide that sidebar. Not sure who the developer is trying to impress, but it is not me.

Zero support, complicated set-up, and no alternative ways to Mount weather station.. I was given this weather station for my birthday. I have been wanting one for a long time and was extremely excited to finally call myself an owner. Unfortunately the set up was extremely difficult. It took two days for me and my partner to figure out how to connect the device to WiFi. There were no support videos for the model I received. Called the support line and got no answer. Fortunately I figured out the WiFi and finally have the station ready to mount, but it doesn't fit on my fence post.... there is no other way to mount the station, and it won't fit on the fence posts on my particular fence. Now I am forced to either, drive a new fence post into the ground or make some make shift smaller post. I don't understand why they wouldn't make this universal to all fence posts. If the hardware to connect to fence post was a little bigger, my weather station would be mounted. Because the company didn't do enough product research and development I am left with yet another road bump in setting up this system. I have invested far to much time and energy and still don't have a working weather station. I am ready to return this product and try another company with better customer service and product development. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and will never buy another Weather Ambient product. Hope this helps someone not make the same mistakes I did. Good luck!

I have to keep logging in. Since the last update I’ve had to log in over an over. I’ve been using this for 3 years and haven’t had this problem until now. Luckily I can use my saved passwords to get back in. Also is there a way to see rainfall total history for past months and years? In Southern California, the rainy season resets October 1st. Could you please add the ability to reset it on that date?

Suddenly failing. This was working fine but suddenly this week it doesn’t open and run properly. It loses the previously saved login info and goes through some sort of start-up phase every time I open it. During that start-up it will hang for a bit at 50% on the progress bar. Also now when it prompts me to log in, it has rejected my password (which I had just reset yesterday). So it looks like till the developer resolves the issue I’ll need to reset the password every time I try to log in. This is ridiculous. What happened? Coincidence that it started happening just after an updated version? UPDATE: Several days later this app is even *more* dysfunctional. The revision notes say fixes correct problem of white screen crashes. I wasn’t getting those before but I am now. I’m now really regretting that this was the weather station I decided to buy and set up. I’ve contacted “support” but they aren’t helpful at all.

Works well decent app. The ambient weather app has always worked well for me since August 31, 2021. It is easy enough to navigate once you know your way around. The menus could be made a little bit more easier to navigate especially in weather data mode. Adding devices was easy and setting alerts always work for me. I truly do enjoy my ambient weather station.

New user experience. I purchased and installed the WS-2902D-WH31E wx station in July 2024 and am extremely pleased thus far. Installation was straightforward and I dutifully read and followed the instructions. The wx station console is well organized and the station itself is functioning well. It is connected into the Ambient Weather Network and the station and additional WH31E units are all reporting data. The graphing and charts are helpful. However, there is a certain “clunkyness” to the AWN Dashboard. I would advise making it look more like my 2902D console with a concise display. My big complaint is how often, when I open the AWN app, that I receive the dreaded “There’s no real time data yet. Give us a sec…” message on the dashboard. I’ve given it over 30 minutes and still no data. IMHO, this is not acceptable behavior. My internet operates on highly reliable a 200 MBPS fiber service (up & down) so the problem is not coming from my stations transmissions. What gives.

The bright splash screen (at night) detracts from the improved functionality. The new app design is nice but I hope the developers will change the splash screen. Starting up the app in a dark room basically flashes you before the welcomed dark mode kicks in. Aside from the bright white screen at startup the app lets you easily customize your data display including the choice of light or dark background that can automatically switch by time of day. Besides the splash screen, the only other improvement that I’d recommend is for a small annoyance dealing with the manual refresh mechanism. Currently you pull down on the screen or are sometimes given the option to press on the small text displaying the time passed since the last update. On an iPad the I constantly pull down over the map which just moves the area being displayed on the map instead of refreshing. Maybe a dedicated refresh button would work better.

Planned Obsolescence, Force You to Buy New Dashboards. I purchased the ambient weather station and console when I purchased my home. Everything worked great until the Internet disconnected. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to reconnect. Hours and hours I spent. Even got my internet company out to replace and reset the routers. Turns out, if you dig deep enough in the help documentation (and I'm pretty sure this was added a few months after I started troubleshooting), the console I bought has some kind of bug as of the beginning of this year and if it disconnects from the internet it's no longer supported. But oh hey, Ambient Weather will give me a discount off a new console! That's unfair. What's to say they won't depreciate the next one in less than a year, too, and force me to keep tossing out the console every year to buy a new one? What a waste and a disappointment. I guess it's time to take down the weather station and find some other sucker willing to take a gamble on this hobby and this company.

Worked great at first. I loved this weather station and app for the first year and a half I had it, but I don't know what sort of update happened about 8 months ago. I haven't moved the station or my router, and its constantly disconnecting and needing to be restarted. The station shows accurate info, but there is no communication to the app. Customer service has been no help and says to just reset everything, which doesn't fix the issue. Long story short, this works if I'm at the house and staring at the actual station once it's been restarted, but useless for checking the weather at home from afar. Might as well just use the weather channel.

Great app, does not have NOAA alerts. The app is easy to use and accurate. I have 2 issues, one minor, the other major MAJOR ISSUE TO FIX: Please add NOAA alerts to your area when they are issued. Weather underground and Fox 10 Phoenix weather app both show these as a push notification and also a map overlay (winter storm, high wind, etc.). This is important where we live. Due to this issue, I am forced to jump around to other apps to get the alerts. Very disappointing. MINOR ISSUE: when on the dashboard, and then click on forecast icon, it changes to nearest location unless I go to MAP, and click on the weather station dot, THEN ,click on the forecast page. This is a minor issue because I have a work around. If I don’t do this, then it provides inaccurate forecast data from a distant location. Radar is very accurate, slow to respond and have to leave radar or page to refresh

Latest Update Causes Problems. With the latest update it takes me to a city far from where I live. I then have to go into a menu and select dashboard to see my sensors. When I look at charts and graphs it is really really slow. A week or so I had to log in every time I opened it, glad that was fixed. This is a GREAT app, hope they fix these little things soon. Tried to tap a star to rate but nothing happens

Great weather app for WS-2000. I have the Ambient weather station WS-2000 for over a year now and use the AWN weather app. This is a great app to see what is going on with the weather at your house but also when you’re away from home. Away from home I keep especially an eye on the temperature outside and in the house, as well in the attic and the garage and the amount of rain. Of course there is a lot of other information to look at. This app is also great to keep an eye on the weather at other weather stations when you’re traveling. Overall a very good app.

I love my weather station and app. What did I used to do for fun? Now I bring in the laundry before we reach the dew point. I turn on the air purifier when the air quality gets bad. I can make sure the chickens aren’t too cold in the coop with their sensor. During heat waves I keep the house closed up until just when things turn and then I open the house up. I can only guess how many times I have screenshot a graphic and posted it on social media.

Ambient weather. My husband and I operate a small Christmas tree farm. The spring rains are vital to get our new trees the start they need. We are constantly checking the rainfall and and amounts to ensure a good growing season. We also are very rural and rely on weather information such as snowfall, etc. to navigate our daily lives. Ambient weather can also be accessed remotely so we can check the weather while on vacation. Ambient weather information is great!

Going the route of weather underground. Was previously not tied to a bunch of third party SDKs, and lately been seeing huge delays for this to start. A little investigation showed that google tag manager, google analytics, crashlytics, app-measurement, and mapbox events were all trying to phone home to the data brokers. This combined with the nag screens for paid services has made me decide to purchase a tempest device. Ambient - we purchase your hardware to provide you free weather data which you can use/sell elsewhere, stop trying to bleed every last cent from your customers by selling advertising data and silly subscriptions. It was refreshing when I was able to get off the money hungry spyware weatherunderground, unfortunately you’re making the same mistakes as they did.

Great station, lousy app. Love the actual station, more accurate than my previous station in rainfall and wind speed. Would give a 5 but the weather app for my IPhone also quit working about 10 days ago and is pretty much a useless white screen. IPAD app still works though. Same as many recent reviews and Ambient Weather hasn’t responded to address or fix the issue…

Need Apple Watch version. Love this app and the fact that I can configure to send text messages on weather happenings. However it feels like a total miss to not have a simple version on for the Apple Watch. That way you could also configure station updates to appear as a simple complication on a custom watch face. Please!

Very good weather app, 1 complaint. I primarily use the app to look at my home station weather and it is very good and stable. My complaint is that when I launch it, the time of the data displayed is often displayed to be hours or days before even though I had previously launched the app minutes before. My preference would be to set the time and data to the current time. It seemed to be this way for a while but at least several months ago it reverted back.

Won’t rotate for graphs. I’ve had my ambient weather system for several years now and it seems that not to long ago something got switched and now when I rotate my phone to a landscape position to get a better view of the graphs, it will rotate and then rotate back and lock in the portrait position. I saw something about this in one of the updates but apparently it didn’t affect my phone. I would like to be able to view the graphs in the landscape position.

Good until last update. I purchased the WS-2000 station a few months ago. Spent quite a bit of time registering and creating my station name and then making sure it was visible to the public. Also created a log in and handle. Everything was all set and working very well. I shared the link for the station to friends and family so they could see the weather reports also. HOWEVER With the past update I have been kicked out and can no longer log in and the system does not recognize my email. Even going to the “help” page to see what I can get done there. Nope, have to log in to ask a question! I want to be connected to MY weather station again and I cannot get it done.

PLEASE ADD WIDGETS. I think the app works great and is very easy to use. I am able to easily locate the data i want from my weather station very quickly. With the introduction of home screen widgets last year, I was hopeful to eventually see a customizable widget that could be added to the Home Screen. That never came throughout the year, and now with the release of Lock Screen widgets I am again disappointed to not see one. Please consider adding these features; while they may seem minor, they are the difference between 4 and 5 stars.

Getting worse and worse. App has gone from good to bad to worse. Takes forever to load. Opens to map page that’s useless because I don’t want to share my location with Ambient. I purchased my PWS and they have no business knowing my whereabouts. Extra button click to get to dashboard. Why can’t it just open to dashboard like it used to? All this “social” stuff is just extra clutter - nobody uses it. Sick of “clever” web designers trying to make things “better.” May be better for a snoopy Ambient but certainly not better for me.

Useless without landscape mode. I have been using this app for a couple of years now and it is nearly perfect. All of the information for my Ambient thermometers is always available at a glance. Much nicer than waiting for my base display to cycle through all of the sensors that I have and I can see what’s going on with the temperature when I am not home. I only have two requests to make it better. 1. Allow dark mode 2. Make an Apple Watch app

Someday, but not Today. Someday, some vendor is going to develop a reliable and easy to use internet interface for their weather station. So far, we are not there. I have used AcuRite and Ambient Weather stations and they regularly drop their feed to the online apps or weather reporting web pages. They jam, they stop uploading, they do everything except maintain a reliable connection. The hardware on my Ambient 2902D is nice. The software looks good on this AWS app, BUT after a few days it will inevitable stop reporting and I will have to delete the App and reload it. Who knows why. The developers sure don’t! Or, if they do, they don’t care.

Great app but one thing... Update - the devolopers must read our reviews! Only 2 days after writing the original review below I saw where the app was updated. So happy to see it stay in landscape mode like it used to. Thank you devs! I use the app daily to view the data from my weather station. For some reason with the latest update it has become difficult to use with my iPad - it’s in portrait mode now where it used to be in landscape mode. Strange thing is that the splash screen is in landscape mode but the quickly changes to portrait mode. Then I have to now rotate my iPad to view. Is this something that can be changed back to the way it was?

Great when it works. I love being able to see all the weather information that my home weather station has collected anytime I want. This App has great information when it works. Here’s the problem, 9 out of ten times I open it I get a blank white screen and it never shows anything but a blank screen. Occasionally it will get past this issue but most of the time this app is unusable. I don’t recommend it unless they fix this issue.

Very Good App - But Has One Major Flaw. This is an excellent weather station app even if you don’t own a weather station. One of the best things for me is that once you lock into your selected station, the app gives you the data for that station regardless of what is going on with other stations in the area. Other apps will begin eliminating access to a station because its data doesn’t conform to what their software algorithm says is reasonable. I have one gripe though… The rainfall accumulation is automatically reset for event, day, week, and month but not for the year. After month is “total” which is the accumulated rain since the weather station came on line. What kind of continuing metric is that? It would be nice if the app had the option to reset the total manually so that if someone wanted a “from the beginning of time” reading they could have it but the rest of us could see what has happened this year.

Poorly designed and buggy. This is a review for the app only - the weather station is great! When opening the app, it will hang when trying to load the dashboard to see your own weather station data, with a ‘There’s no real-time data yet. Give us a sec…’ message. Killing the app will fix it, but sometimes you have to kill it a few times. Letting it load doesn’t do anything, no matter how long you leave it. The UX is also bad, especially in the settings pages: unintuitive and just plain bizarre. E.g. pressing the share button will open a menu off the bottom of the page, so it appears as though pressing the button didn’t do anything. Weird choices like this plague this app. So much potential but poor execution that I hope they fix.

Good but somewhat flawed. The app does its main functions pretty well but it stumbles when it comes to charting. The UI is also extremely clunky and dated. The graphing sections crash or freeze if you ask it to show you more than a week of data at a time which is unfortunate. I would have given it a 4 star rating but I’m using the paid subscription for charting and times to create charts are insanely long and they don’t work all that well. It’s definitely not worth the subscription fee.

love the hardware. app is dead. This has been a trusty and helpful weather station through storm and good weather. I’ve never loved the app but it was functional. I usually look at the actual data on weather cloud but the air quality data doesn’t get through so I’m stuck with the app. which hasn’t opened successfully for a year or so at this point. It just tells me “other customers have had luck uninstalling and reinstalling”. even the latest release, which supposedly gets rid of the white screen of death doesn’t actually do anything. Then I learned that the app is just a shell around a web browser. Surprisingly (that was sarcasm.) the webpage also doesn’t load. It looks like they are failing the basics.

Great weather stations and app!. I have the 2902B and C console. Weather station is nearly three years old and on same ultimate lithium batteries. Station is a good 60 feet away from my home and through a few walls. Still has a strong signal too. The ambient weather app has come a long way and it’s very well thought out. Everything works great here in New England USA. So yeah we have cold and hot weather…highly recommend these weather stations!

Excellent app. Thanks for fixing landscape mode on iPad so quickly! This app does an excellent job of letting me keep track of my additional sensors that don’t appear on the main console. I keep an old iPad mini set up just below the console and it works great. Landscape mode is required for my setup so I was happy to see the new update fixed that problem. My only wish is to be able to place the tiles in a custom order so I can have the ones I am most interested in grouped together.

App has white screen after opening on version 4.4.3. Many have reported an issue with the app not fully opening after they updated to 4.4.3. Company doesn’t appear to care to fix this. One workaround is to attempt to open the app, let it get to the solid white screen then close it. Go into your iPhone settings, Ambient Weather app, and change something. Anything. Then open the app again. Should open. I have had to do this for several weeks and this was the one consistent way I could find to actually get the app to open. Much better than resetting all the settings on your phone. Good luck. When it works, it’s not bad (3.5 stars probably) but lack of response from the company and developer is sad.

I prefer the old 7 day chart. You did it again. Please put it back. The charts changed recently to show averaged/smoothed data on the 7-day. I’d prefer to see the specifics as before. Since averages require a whole day to calculate it now cuts off the current day from the chart. It’s no longer possible to see the raw high/low data over the last seven days including the current day. Only smoothed lines are shown now (unless viewing the current day chart). Also if I touch the first chart to bring up temp data for a specific time, the pop-up on my phone is now so large it covers the chart so I can’t see it. And I cannot drag the line along the chart like I used to. Give me a switch (on all the charts) to show averaging or real data and I’d be pretty happy. Give me the ability to scroll the chart in real data mode to see previous data and I’d be ecstatic. 😎 (also some simple searching like goto date would be cool) Overall I think the hardware is great but the app is pretty basic considering what could be done with it.

Worked great until a couple of weeks ago. I have been using this app since January 2019 when I installed my Ambient Weather station and it’s always been very dependable. Then a couple of weeks ago it stopped working. I just get the logo and then a blank white screen when I open the app on my iPhone 14 Pro, which has the latest version of iOS and more than 200 GB of storage available. To others having this problem, I have found that if I close the app and then re-open it immediately I can usually get it to function correctly after 2-4 attempts.

Exceeded my expectations. I’ve owned other manufactures weather station's and was left greatly disappointed. The Ambient Weather app along with the Ambient weather station far far exceeds what I expected. It provides a multitude of weather information and the capability of viewing other weather ststions near and far. This is the Gold Standard for weather apps and stations.

Mostly good. This app works well and is a convenient place to see weather conditions at a glance. I gave it a lower star rating because of the rainfall dashboard. The longer you have it, the more useless it gets. This is because it shows current rainfall rate, daily, event, week, month and total. The ‘Total’ section totally wrecks the chart, as it shows total rainfall since you installed the rain gauge. So the other timeframes are just a tiny blip on the chart. Something like trailing 12 month or YTD would be much more useful.

Rain rate at a glance. That was something my previous Accu Weather Station didn’t have which I’m not doing business with anymore because I was forced to buy a new component, after the fact, that allowed me to continue to see the weather on my phone. If I want to know how bad the weather is outside I just glanced at the console and see the rain rate. I also like seeing the solar watts. Bluetooth communication between the weather station and the console seems robust!

Nice Device But Difficult to Set Up. I researched several home weather stations and found this one a good value for the money. It records numerous parameters and has a nicely laid out dashboard for the computer and a easy to read base station (albeit a bit too touch sensitive). My biggest complaints are that it is very difficult to set up to wifi and it is nearly impossible to set up as a station connected to the internet weather services such as Weather Underground. Though customer service is polite and helpful, I have spent a lot of time on the phone with them trying to connect my unit to wifi whenever it gets moved or falls offline for some reason. They have never been able to help me connect the unit to the internet weather networks. The system needs to be able to work with 5G as well as 2.4G wifi networks (which it does not). It needs to be more plug and play.

Can’t get any actual support.. My Ambient Weather app perfectly until New Year’s Eve 2022. It’s now January 9, and I still haven’t been able to get in touch with anyone at Ambient Weather to help troubleshoot my problem. The issue is that my rain tile does not respond to the X/plus icon being touched. The minus icon to remove the tile also does not respond to touch. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times with reboots in between. I have received one email today at 3 PM when they are just getting ready to leave for the day and today I got one call at 2 o’clock when I was on a conference call for work. I sure would like it if somebody would actually make a point of trying to reach out and support this.

The weather is constantly changing. So far my station is working very well. First thing, you need a pole to mount the station on. This is not included, but very important. Second, it is somewhat easy to assemble if you follow the instructions. Programing it to connect to the internet is another story. Be patient and with trial and error you will figure it out and you will be happy with the results.

App stopped working after update/ no tech support. The app stopped working after the update one week ago. I notified Ambient Weather about the problem, app will initiate the logo pops up then it goes to white screen and stays there. But no one has responded. I’ve read that others have had this issue as well. The station works and the app works on my iPad but it’s really more convenient to use the app on my iPhone. My iPhone has plenty of memory and a strong internet connection. The company should have responded by now. A week is just unacceptable given the price of the weather station. Also, the lighting detector is almost useless at all settings. I’ve tried multiple settings on the Reddit page but none works for me. The best setting I found is hit or miss. I got 67 strikes when a major storm hit then the next day two large strikes hit directly over my house but the detector didn’t catch them. That’s an expensive device that I really regret buying. There’s also a bit of deception from the company involving being able to use the desktop to track the information from the station. In the pictures on the site it shows all three devices, phone, tablet and computer as usable for tracking but you’ll need to pay extra to use it on your computer. In hindsight I think I would have gone with a different system.

Good app but sometimes buggy. Use this every day very helpful. Can be buggy sometimes when loading either loading blank screen or getting stuck. Improving as times goes on 👍

Unreliable. This app would be very helpful if it would open every time. But it usually presents as a blank screen. A pity.

Very good quality weather station. I’ve been using WS2902 system for six months and am very impressed with the quality, accuracy and reliability of the weather station itself and the AWN APP. One disappointing thing is the lack of options and editing ability on the Dashboard, eg I would like the ability to see the wind direction in degrees and not just an arrow on a blank circle as is currently the case. Also the ability to change the order of the information tiles on the mobile app. A big PLEASE to the developers to look into this? All in all though this is a very high quality weather station and I am extremely satisfied and impressed.

Blank screen. Always a blank screen when I open the app

Blank screen more often than not. This app repeatedly opens to a blank screen. I have this app on 2 iPhones and both have this problem. I see that this has been an issue for more than a year. Please fix it

No Celsius. There’s a switch to show Celsius in the iPad version but I can’t see it in the iPhone version. Reports personal weather station data from ten months ago. Overall very crude and unpolished. 08JAN21: Still the same issues outlined above.

First impressions. No customization, super slow loading, does not support additional sensor(s) such as the WH31B. Have to use web which makes the app pointless to bother with.

No help. I normally use the web interface on my laptop but got a new phone. The iOS app works but I would like to filter charts like I do on the web. There is no help for this app and nothing on the support site to help me find out how to do this.

White screen.. Since the update. White screen until I close and reopen. Now that won’t even work. Deleted and downloaded again. Nothing. White screen.

So laggy it’s useless. I love the Ambient Weather hardware, but.... This app is completely useless on an iPad Mini 2 and a frustration on my iPhone 7. Strangely, the same information and interface accessed via their web portal in safari is usable (although it too lags badly). Both systems seem to load only the data visible on the screen as it’s needed so it just hangs as the screen scrolls, especially on slower connections. It would be much better if data were preprocessed and then passed as a complete “package” to the app which then used a background task to have it ready for presentation. Right now it looks like it does everything in the foreground on demand so the user has to wait every time they scroll. As features have been added it’s got worse and worse. Maybe time for a whole new app with some thought about optimizing for slower data links.

Dark Mode Added!. The app just go so much better with dark mode added!

Don’t bother. Horrible user interface. Trying to finger scroll information is a exercise in frustration! You just want to scroll the information in the “Quick View” tile, and most of the time the page scrolls instead to try to refresh the data instead! Tiles are too big and take way too much space forcing you scroll around to see data, but again the page bounces to refresh mode instead again. Do the software writers test their crappy work? Ever? I guess not.

Historical weather data. Where’s the historical data?

App locked up. Unable to change screen. In search location it put in the incorrect address. Unable to change.

Excellent. Great app. Much better than the other stations I've had. If I could make one change it would be to the rainfall tile. If you live in a wet area, the bars on the graph other than "year" will all look like they are zero. But excellent layout for iPhone.

It’s dead. It used to,work fine. Now it starts loading and hangs with the progress bay about 90% done.

Won’t open. Since last iPhone update it won’t open, just a white screen.

App not opening after last update.. App was working fine until the recent update and now it won’t open at all.

App not loading after upgrade. Like another reviewer mentioned, since the last update I’ve found the app no longer loads. Reinstalling the app helped but then stopped working again after a day or so

Latest update unstable. After the latest update when I click on the icon for the app on my iPhone the logo comes up and then just a white screen

Low grade generic graphics. This app has low grade generic graphics, quite a bit of a bug issues, and what makes this weather station an app bottom tier it no longer’s work with Google Home devices

App opens to a white blank window. It’s consistent until I erase the app and download it again, then it works for a short time. My station information is displayed on my computer with no issues so I believe it’s the IOS app that’s at fault.

AWN wireless thermometer and sensors. Properly hooked up it allows me to track the temperature of my pool and house, inside and out, even when I am away from home. Have recommended to friends and family and bought some a gifts. Easy to hook up and as reliable as your ISP.

No Direction…... The end section of the wind vane broke off during the middle of the night earlier this month. We had some major gusts during its ‘downfall’. This is the ONLY issue we’ve ever had with our weather station. It’s 14 feet above ground on a pole so pretty sure wildlife wasn’t involved. Bummer!

A bug. So since the last update my ambient app won’t work. I just get a white screen. I’ve tried closing it and reopening it. I’ve tried deleting the app. Something needs adjusting since that last update. I have an iPhone 13. Thank you.

Worst Customer support ever. My weather station has been working for over 3 years but recently the app on my Iphone just shows a blank screen. I’ve tried to delete it and reinstall it and rebooting my phone. When that didn’t work I called the support number and after being put on hold for a while the recording said a tech support person is not available and gave me the option of leaving a message for a callback which I did. No callback came. I will not buy from this Company again

Can’t adjust pane order. I am enjoying the application! It works well. I took a star away because I can’t change the order of the various weather measurement panes. Maybe I just haven’t found how to do it, but I would like to rearrange in order of my viewing preference but cannot.

Good so far. Just got a WS-2902 weather station. Setup was a little clunky, but doable. Day-to-day operation has been pretty good. Would like to see another widget similar to your current wide widget (maybe make that one taller), but shows more of my actual personal weather station data because that’s why I bought my own weather station to begin with. Thanks.

Great aside from white screen issue. Mostly great. Could do with some ability to customize the panels more so I can put ones higher and group them, etc. Get the white screen upon launch that others mention quite a bit, so it’s a bug that hasn’t been fixed for months now. Would love to see that fixed along with some customization options.

Still just a white screen. Update: responsive staff and resolved the issue. A version or two ago, the app does nothing. Just opens to a white screen. Have to visit the website through Safari to see any real-time data.

Won’t rotate for graphs. I’ve had my ambient weather system for several years now and it seems that not to long ago something got switched and now when I rotate my phone to a landscape position to get a better view of the graphs, it will rotate and then rotate back and lock in the portrait position. I saw something about this in one of the updates but apparently it didn’t affect my phone. I would like to be able to view the graphs in the landscape position.

Incredible weather app. I have used the AWN weather station and app for over a year. Easy peasy to use the attached multi-device monitoring device and station. We love this product for our accurate weather at home. Great is not even the wtd for their products!

No longer working on my IPhone 13 Pro. Seems like whatever updated be it iPhone software or Ambient Weather App software the app no longer works properly. When I open the app it shows the name of the app then goes all white and blank. The only fix I have found is to open Ambient Weathers web site using my web browser, then reopening the app and it will work fine for a little while. Used to work fine on this phone all the time.

Works OK, too much wasted space on showing data. The app works for displaying all the weather data from my Ambient Weather station and other weather stations which are part of AWN. App UI is dated and must scroll to see all the weather data even on iPad. Data should be able to be displayed on a single screen with use of more color.

Spontaneously switches from 4-tile display to 2-tile display. The app seems pretty good. It’s been solid for me so far, but I really prefer 4-tiles across. Sometimes upon launch it gives me 2 giant tiles instead. I don’t need them so giant. A toggle switch for one or the other would be great, and even better, letting us drag and drop the tiles in any way we choose would be good too! Thanks!

Love the unit. I love how I can ‘watch’ the measurements from a distance (currently 800 miles). I discovered I accidentally turned off AC and house inside was a bit over 90. A friend went over the house and turned the ac back on. Have thermometers in multiple rooms was helpful.

Application dysfunctional a majority of the time !. I loved the app when I first got it , worked without a hitch . Here recently however , it is down for a vastly longer time than it works . I’m disappointed that I wasted several hundred dollars on an Ambient Weather station for my home that depends on this wonky app . I have been unable to obtain any support or assistance with my issues . Don’t waste your time …..

Great station, lousy app. Love the actual station, more accurate than my previous station in rainfall and wind speed. Would give a 5 but the weather app for my IPhone also quit working about 10 days ago and is pretty much a useless white screen. IPAD app still works though. Same as many recent reviews and Ambient Weather hasn’t responded to address or fix the issue…

Mystifying setup. I can’t get this app to work for the life of me. Following the instructions in the weather station manual as well as the troubleshooting on the company website did me no good. For what ever reason the setup wizard never comes up and I can not enter the Wi-Fi information to get the station to connect. I surrender.

Exceeded my expectations. I’ve owned other manufactures weather station's and was left greatly disappointed. The Ambient Weather app along with the Ambient weather station far far exceeds what I expected. It provides a multitude of weather information and the capability of viewing other weather ststions near and far. This is the Gold Standard for weather apps and stations.

Ambient Weather Network. We have been using the weather station for a number of years. It connects to our WiFi and we get read outs on the display in our kitchen. No need to go outside to check the information. Highly recommend.

Very frustrating to use. I got this weather station for my birthday last winter and I loved it until recently when it started to randomly crash and when I tried relaunching the app it would give me the white screen of doom. Working with support has been frustrating since I keep doing what they are asking: Take my phone off wi-fi Completely close app Clear browser data Go onto data Go onto the Ambient Weather site Logged in Launch app Each time I do I get the white screen of doom. I’ve tried delivering the app and redownloading to no avail. The update is poor and seems to have made the app useless. I hope another version is in the works since this is an expensive piece of equipment to not be able to use.

White screen on iPhone, works on iPad. For some reason, when I open this app on my iPhone 12, it flashes the logo and then goes to a white screen where it stays. The app works great on my iPad Air. I tried the “report an issue” option but couldn’t select the app to get through the wizard. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions I can try.

Directions are beyond frustrating!. I have been trying for 3 days to get the weather station, the console, and my phone app to connect to one another. The directions are terrible! My phone keeps saying that my weather station isn’t reporting. I honestly think someone returned this station because I had issues day one even getting it registered. When I tried to register the station it prompted me with, “This station has already been registered”. It is terribly frustrating!

Pleasant, but unstable. This app is quite nice to use and navigate. It presents plenty of data in tile form and as graphs, and allows you to look at data published by other stations. While overall I like it, it has a rather annoying bug, where every day or two it spontaneously loses the plot and drops into a “something went wrong” screen. Restarting the app and logging back in clears the error, but it is not at all obvious that this is how to restore service.

Good app but has issues. Great app for showing local weather stations and providing real time information. HOWEVER, when a new trending post appears, it blocks off the map on iphone and when i swipe it away, i cant zoom in or out (let-alone move the map at all) Please fix this issue and thank you in advance.

Great data if you can read it. The app is really great with the exception of the font size and color. There is no way to increase the size of the screen. You cannot enlarge any part of it and some of the fonts are so tiny and so light is nearly impossible to read.

Ambient Weather makes the best personal weather stations!. I’ve been using a WS-1401 weather station since 2015, and just upgraded to the WS-5000. Never suffered a problem that AW support couldn’t help me trouble shoot and fix with the older station, and the accuracy and ease of set up with the new station is unbeatable!

Complete Weather Station. Simple to setup and confide to the wi-fi. Love the way the APP allows for remote connection of not only outside temp but gives you inside temp too. Handy information when the air temps here get to -30 degrees f. Also like that you can see stations throughout the country.

Pretty good. I’ve got their weather station & I use this app a lot. I like it, but there are limitations still. The iOS widgets are great, but there’s still no Apple Watch app or complications, which means I still can’t go 100% in on this without using Apple weather or another app for my watch. The rainfall calculations on here (and the weather station) are not great, but temp & wind are spot on.

Big Island weather. I really like the search capabilities of logged data and the dashboard. Another feature is that I can see data other spots near and far away, which here on the Big Isand oh Hawai’i it can be dramatic just. 1/2 mile away.

Great home weather station - clunky app. I love all the data we collect from our home weather station. In addition to the real time temperature, wind, rain, and other basics, we added wireless thermometers around the house and a water thermometer in our river! It’s all displayed in the app. BUT the app doesn’t do justice to all the great data. It’s so clunky. Ambient needs to hire a true designer who knows how to turn data into a cool visual presentation.

Graph Buttons Removed from Tiles. I used the button at the bottom of every Tile to access the graph for that Tile multiple times a day but apparently some developer thought it would be a good idea to remove it and instead require users to tap and scroll more to find the graphs - WHY??? Nothing like having a frequently used app feature removed suddenly for no apparent reason.

Need Apple Watch version. Love this app and the fact that I can configure to send text messages on weather happenings. However it feels like a total miss to not have a simple version on for the Apple Watch. That way you could also configure station updates to appear as a simple complication on a custom watch face. Please!

Couldn’t Live With Out It!. When I purchased my Ambient Weather station, I had no idea that I would have so much fun with it and be so addicted to it. I have become my friends and neighbors weatherman. Whenever it rains, I get texts asking how much rain we received.

Pretty easy to use for a newbie. For someone who doesn’t know much about weather, I’m finding the app has more features than I thought I would need. Funny thing is, I find myself using those features and I’m learning more and more about tracking the weather near my home. Next step: connecting my own weather station!

Ambient. After finally figuring out how to get it set up, it took a while, this is really a great app/system. It is nice to be able to keep track of the weather and have a bit of historical data.

Latest patch fix.. No white screen. Thanks I like the option to choose dark theme. Is there a way to have the app open to something we can choose instead of map. It would rather prefer first going to my dashboard of my PWS.

Love app but takes several tries to open.. I love the functionality of the app but please fix the issue where when launching the app, it goes to a white screen. You have to close and re-launch several times before the app with load any data. It is very frustrating.

App less usable with freemium model. I have to pay $50 per year to change the order of the data points in the list view? How is that a premium feature? You’re intentionally making the app less usable so you can try to make some more money on subscription fees. I don’t mind paying a yearly fee if there’s real value in it, but this is just stupid. Now I have to scroll through a bunch of tiles before I see the data I care about.

White screen. The June 29, 2023 update has broken the app for me. Just a white screen. Previous version was working well. Tried restart, tried uninstall and reinstall with restart after uninstalling and restart after reinstall. No Joy! Running IOS 16.5.1 on iPhone 13. EDIT: July 1- apparently it was a Wi-Fi problem, works fine on cell data. My bad.

Ambient Weather App. The app has a nice presentation of available data. My only complaint is last month or so the app goes blank. You need to go into airplane mode, get the app to say “no network”, then turn off airplane mode, then have the app ask you to login. After all that the map area is still blank.

Free is good, paid is better. Free gives a lot of features and works great if you want to see local stations. If you have your own station, paid gives you more features, but is not necessary.

Great app, but please add widgets!. I have been very pleased with my Ambient Weather WS-5000 weather station and the accompanying app on my iPad, however, me and many others would appreciate having widgets on our iPhones and iPads that can display weather data from our stations. Developers, please take this into consideration.

My Weather Station. I really enjoy my weather station, very easy to set up and navigate through the application. I like the fact I can check the weather conditions while I’m away or at home. Would highly recommend the Weather Station.

Daily Fun. Living on a lake about 50 miles north of the 45th parallel and only 3 miles east of Lake Michigan, winds in excess of 30 mph and snowfall averaging over 100 inches annually, makes accurate weather information extremely important. My weather station is not only fun but extremely informative in making my daily decisions.

AWN. Really like having the ability to know real time weather data from more specific locations than can be accessed through popular weather apps. The addition of forecasts makes it a standalone app.

Great app, not so great customization. I am reallly enjoying my Ambient Weather station and the info provided on the app dashboard. Lots of detail available which is nice to see. However, the fact that you cannot customize or rearrange the tiles is frustrating. I somehow managed to remove the temperature tile and once I added it back it’s no longer at the top which is where I would like it to be.

Great when it works. I love being able to see all the weather information that my home weather station has collected anytime I want. This App has great information when it works. Here’s the problem, 9 out of ten times I open it I get a blank white screen and it never shows anything but a blank screen. Occasionally it will get past this issue but most of the time this app is unusable. I don’t recommend it unless they fix this issue.

Edit - App has been fixed!. Was an amazing app until last update. Now just loads a blank white screen. I’ve tried reinstalling and resetting but no luck. A shame as I really enjoyed this app. Edit - It works again, back to being reliable and a great app. Thanks devs!

Your update broke my best weather app. This was the best weather app. I could make sure I knew what was happening at my location all the time. I even bought leak sensors so I wouldn’t worry about accidents happening in the basement. Now with the latest “fix” you all broke it. Someone needs to read these reviews and get a hot fix in production. I thought it was just me getting the white screen of death. Turns out the whole community is having this problem.

Great dashboard but alerts stopped working. I used to always get a sms text for my alerts. Now you need a subscription. You can have alerts on the app but they don’t work and yes I made sure they were allowed on my phone. I am hoping this is fixed soon.
