1942 Classic Arcade Game Reviews

Fixed 1 problem, ran into another. Recent patch finally fixed level 25 on my iPad Pro. Was finally getting back into enjoying this game until I got to level 33. THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING! The end of the level has 6 subs surface. I can sink 5 of them, but the middle top one doesn’t come down far enough from the top of the screen. So, once again, I can’t shoot the guns off the screen that I can’t see, but they can shoot me. Nothing to do but fly around until I run out of fuel or am shot down. What fun. After waiting nearly 3 months for level 25 to get fixed, all I got was 8 levels further just to have to wait again for the same problem to get fixed. PLEASE FIX LEVEL 33 ON IPAD PRO. Consider doing a run-through on iPad Pro to make sure the product works.

Will you make more levels?. Beat all the levels what’s the point of the game if you don’t make more levels. Hope you do. If not I will be deleting it. No reason to keep it if you stop at level 50

I love this game. Hey this game was my favorite game when I was younger I would always want to go to an arcade to play 1942 and now I can play it anywhere on my phone but there are bugs that need to be fixed. Every time I finish a mission I click the >> button it doesn’t work so I half to close the game and get back on but other than that I love this game, good job.

Don’t bother.. Unless you like spending lots of money and/or watching 4 hours of ads a day for little more than table scraps, this game wouldn’t be for anyone. You literally have to watch dozens of 30 second ads for the “freebies”. But the problem is you only get credit for watching every other ad or every third ad. And the rewards for the hours of ads you’d watch each day will take years to accumulate enough to advance. Update: started tracking. Watched 96 ads (mostly 30 second ads) got credit for 31. In general I would have enjoyed the game but due to the fact it takes 3x+ ads to get the credit for watching them and the rewards for the ads should be 3x+ better, not only am I deleting, but I’m so annoyed I’m writing a review for the first time.

Ad-a-palooza. This was fun to start with, even spent a little money to upgrade my aircraft. But, the ads take forever, and it’s getting to the point where you have to spend more than it’s worth. I understand having to watch an ad to get your game continued, but when you have to watch a 5-second ad just to get back to your home screen, that’s just crazy. I do like that you get many opportunities to win items and boosts though.

Love the game... BUT.... I am nearing the end of the 50 levels... would love to see more levels added ( as would many others I have read on the reviews ) ... With that said... here of late... the game sometimes hangs up after a failed mission, and I click leave... I have to kill app and restart... not knowing if I received the medals and gold I acquired and losing the option to watch video for multiplier... Please address...

Not seeing my upgrades???. Been playing for about a week and its a cool game and I enjoy playing it but I've noticed that the "parts" I've collected to unlock new planes haven't been registering... It shows I've unlocked about a fifth of what I've actually unlocked which is pretty disappointing....hope you guys fix this issue

No control over firing. Give us the original game.. Am I the only person who wants to have control over when to fire? The guns fire constantly. All you do is move your plane around the screen while it endlessly fires. I have played the original arcade game and this setup takes all the fun out of it. There is no reason for the developers to “upgrade” the game. Simple retrofit the original game and give us that. There is a reason why it was so popular.

This event broke my game. The game has worked great but yesterday evening they started a five day event. Well now for some reason it is letting me try out all the different planes but I can not use my original plane and I can not actually play the game. It is stuck on the exact same test level. I do not have a fight button instead it says try. I can not play the game do missions or even earn points for this event. So basically the games broken. I hope it goes back to working once this events over with

The only way is to pay. After the first 10 rounds, you might as well just delete the game or pull out your wallet. The length of time it takes to earn any new planes or weapon strength is ridiculous. Daily rewards barely help, and just repeat. They should increase the longer you play. This game is really fun in the beginning. It's a shame that they make it so hard to progress. I get it that they want to make money. Just wish it wasn't so impossible to progress without paying $$$

Love it except for the glitches. I have experienced the following glitches: - The blue forward or advance (after completing a mission) button does not work. - Several times the app has suddenly closed while in the middle of a mission. This has happened repeatedly and been extremely frustrating when playing an Infinity Mission with a score near 300,000 and full power and fuel. - - - The issue above also negates any mission completions since the last time the app was closed. This happens repeatedly when trying to complete missions during the Event time periods that lead up to being awarded the V-22 Osprey. - No gems are awarded when completing an Intercept Mission. - I have reached the MAX upgrade level on DMG but it doesn’t actually increase damaging power especially when playing the Crazy mode .

Awesome!. This is one of the best games I’ve ever played I like getting all the planes and playing different levels and the explosions also the big bosses and the bombers I do like fighting the big battleships and different enemy airplanes I like playing other people around the world on versus and doing missions and waves of bad guys thank you for this game best game ever!!!

Rewards not working. Great game but they make it difficult to upgrade planes. One way to upgrade to a better plane is by watching ads but you never get credit for it. I also tried upgrading planes by using diamonds for opening wingman chests but that didn’t work either. I just lost my diamonds in the process. Won’t be playing again until these bugs are fixed.

To Many Ads. On the PACK screen it lets you watch 5 videos and every video is worth 10 blue gems. In my game after you watch the video I DO NOT receive any gems at all. I still play it though but now it’s getting boring, especially after needing those blue gems to upgrade your plane. Was a good game at first but got boring real quick and like I said w/o those gems it took me longer to upgrade. Please fix this glitch so other people don’t have to go through the same crap. Rip Off...update wipes out progress. Let’s begin by explaining that the latest update wipes out most of what you spent money and time on, basically taking your money and providing no return. Second is the many glitches of the update which include how the game gets stuck with an enemy that you can’t kill cause it’s too off screen and the level won’t end, or you just fly with no enemies and level never ends. This happens on Levels 12, 17, 22, 23, 26, 29, and 40. It may occur on later levels but that’s as far as I have gotten so far. The developers need to give back our hard earned money or fix the features lost by the update, which include my weapons lasting 30 seconds, the weapons effectiveness back to same power, the dozens of magnets, double stars, power ups, and emps (lightning strike) that I’ve earned and/or paid for and so on. Finally, provide help pages to explain the ways to earn features, planes, what other new things you’ve done, and so on. I almost think it is not included so they can take your money and not give you what is expected. I don’t mind the ads as long as the rewards actually work as advertised following watching the video. Right now 1 out of 3/4 don’t pay off. A game with nostalgic potential but reverse of update or serious attention to issues need to be executed.

This should be called 1942 HD remastered edition. This is such a good remastered version of the arcade classic 1942 battle for midway this stomps even the HBMAME versions of the classic game you could clone this app and continue to develop off of what you have here and make a brand new 1942 Version 2 and make a whole new rendition of the game whilst keeping this version great job devs!!

Fun Game / Horrible Ads. A classic game brought back to life. Game play is a ton of fun. The PvP piece of the game as a global dimension that is quite challenging. The piece that is horrible and needs serious work are the ads. You have to watch ads to get gems which equates to the purchase of additional aircraft and upgrades. It’s supposed to be 10 ads but you have to watch 30-40 ads to get it to acknowledge you’ve watched 10. Either intentional for financial reasons to charge advertisers per view or their programming skills are sub par.

Great gameplay and very close to the arcade cabinet.. The game has very few issues and works well. I'm not much of a fan of bullet hell games, but I find this enjoyable. In my time playing it has not crashed. The levels are replayable and we'll designed.

No wifi. This game is honestly great it used to be my childhood favorite game and what’s even better is that it doesn’t need any WiFi so this is great when traveling or anything your doing so I would rate this 5 stars

Ads ads ads ads. Maybe if u stop doing updates and just fix what u have. Latest update, assault does not go past level 10 just nothing there. U Been promising a special event for 2 weeks that hasn’t happened twice. Seriously u want people to spend money but u do little to make it work. Game still does not reset at midnite if it’s open in the background. Money better spent on other games still keep this one around to kill time while taking a dump

Fun game easy to get into. This game is fun and way to get into. Download and play. Could use a little more direct instruction about how everything works but you can pretty much figure it out as you go. Fun, easy to get into, classic game.

Broken. The game was fun when I started so I decided to spend some $$ on it. I bought planes, packs & No Ads. It was working great for about a month then the ads started appearing again, buttons no longer work and there have been no events. The game was last updated over a month ago. There has been no mention of a release date or confirmation that things are broken from the maker on their FB page. If they fix it, I’ll probably be back as it was fun when it worked properly.

Game is a rip with click-bait ads scam. Game baits you into watching ads to earn “mystery” wrenches for better planes and wingmans, but half the time you don’t even get any. The idea of “mystery” wrenches is like a circus scam, because half of the time it’s a “mystery” where the wrenches go, after watching 30 ads to think you’re going to earn some. It’s so disheartening to waste all that time watching 30 ads and not get any wrenches to get closer to a plane / wingman upgrade. GARBAGE!!!

Very glitchy. Game play is good and fun but so many very frustrating glitches that never get fixed and there seems to be no way to report the issues. Two main ones I experience are in: P vs P - constantly get opponent failed to load. The most frustrating is in watching adds - constantly watch adds and don’t get credit for it or rewards sometimes have to watch 4 or five adds to get credit for one!! Then all too frequently there are no ads available. :(

Takes me back. Ok, when reviewing this keep mind what it is, a blast from your past. It takes me back to many a night pounding on the console game in my local pub, trying to steal high score from my arch nemesis. So the graphics are dated and it lacks the latest gee wiz features, but it’s a hoot to play and it brings back fond memories of golf times with olfactory friends.

Effort Needs to Be Rewarded Without Glitches. I have enjoyed this game a lot. It’s a great take on the classic arcade game, with some cool updates for newer planes, head-to-head battles, etc. That all being said, the GLITCHES AND THE SUBSEQUENT INCONSISTENCIES KF THE GAMEPLAY ARE A SERIOUS NEGATIVE AND FRUSTRATION . Constantly one is offered the opportunity to watch ads to increase their rewards, and many times there is no payoff at all. It just goes right back to where things are and it is throughout the gameplay, on gold boost and on gift and chest rewards. I GENUINELY WONDER IF IT IS SET UP AS CLICK BAIT SUCH THAT MORE AND MORE ADS ARE VIEWED IN THE HOPES OF GETTING THOSE REWARDS. Also inconsistent is the head-to-head play. Sometimes I dominate in a way that is almost too easy, other times I shoot a plan 10 times and it doesn’t explode when it took one shot to destroy the same plane the day before. This is incredibly frustrating. Finally, and not glitch-related: THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE LEVELS! I’ve exhausted the 50 levels and I’m forced to just play the same ones over and over, and they are even less challenging as I get more boosts and better planes from the points from replays.

Good, but ads don’t provide promised benefit. Biggest complaint is that they advertise that watching a 30 second advertisement will get you gems or gold. In my experience you receive that gift less than half the time. Assume it is a designed bug to make users watch more ads. Otherwise, an enjoyable game.

Stops at level 25. The game is great and brings back a lot of memories. The ads are annoying, but playing is free. My game stops at level 25 (regular, Ipad pro). The last enemy doesn’t move so you cannot destroy the last weapon on the ship. It is firing, but of the screen. You can get out of the level only by letting it hit you. Needs to be fixed.

Doesn’t do what it promises. Waste of time to watch the ads. They don’t guarantee a second chance at the level. The button to play the next level doesn’t work so you have to exit out of the app or hit the replay button and then back out of the replay. Don’t bother buying anything. The point system doesn’t make sense. It feels like they have no concept of what to charge for gems or stars or even the planes. Inconsistent and feels very much like a pay to win app.

CANNOT EXIT ADS. It’s annoying enough that I have to pass each stage with out being shot and destroying anything that appears in my screen as an enemy. But when I try to continue and your ads have fake Xs thats just the last draw. I have to wait for the ads some times when I in between stages. I talking about ads that just pop up for 40 seconds and it wasn’t a continue or a bonus or free spin or anything that would make benefit me in the game and make me want to click and watch an ad. Please fix the fake Xs. I sit through it and then I cannot continue my game. In mean come on now I did my part of the deal.

Like the classic, just better,. It’s an amazing game. But I may be too romantic for the original game. I see other people complaining about things that I actually looove! Regarding the game itself. It’s very retro looking and just as challenging as the original, but it contains some new stuff!

Ads. Forces players to watch ads. Choice is given to skip extra rewards or receive extra rewards. Very deceptive and misleading way of cheating players. Even when clearly choosing not to take extra rewards the game devs force a player into an ad. Even glancing back six years at other player reviews the devs have been forcing players to watch games even when the player opts out. Deleted game. Be warned.

Need to fix app. Ate my hard earned wingman tool points.. This game is good. Sorry to say it has not given me my wingman tool points that i earned with much effort. So far i have lost 40 points once and again 19 points today 1/26. Needless to say i have spent over $50 on the game.

Good Game Except for the Glitches. I enjoy the game for the most part. However the game frequently locks up and I have to reboot it. Then the rewards are not available as the ads are locked. One of the planes I have doesn’t always appear in the special play areas. The game will go to a blank screen which requires a reboot.

Good game killed by ad model. This was a good game until the most recent update. Most recent update added banner at to the bottom, which is a big distraction and takes a part of the screen during the middle of a game. If you’re going to have ads, have it between levels I will be deleting it now.

Watching commercials gives you nothing. I’ve enjoyed this game for a while, but now I’m watching the commercials which I am supposed to get a bonus for, and I get nothing. And don’t tell me I’m hitting the x too early, remember I’ve had the game for a while, and this had mostly worked in the past. It used to be that I wouldn’t get a reward about 20% of the time, which was also high but tolerable. Now it’s 100% of the time. And I’ve spent money on this game, but I’m not playing it until this stupid bug is fixed.

TERRIBLE: Complete Redesign. I don’t know why you’ve done what you’ve done but you’re breaking my heart with this update. I wish you had focused on the current glitches and kept this game as classic as possible. This is now a COMPLETELY different game and not what I originally signed up for. For that, I’m now deleting your game. Be aware newcomers: there will be a lot of disruptive ads throughout the game, not just here and there, but ALL the time rendering the flow almost unplayable. Also, don’t pay for any upgrades, it’s not worth it and a waste of your money. Player be aware.

Simple Fun ( w/no ad issues). Fun way to kill time. A tried and true fun type of game. Fly around and shoot the enemy. I personally have had literally no problems with ads like I read in some reviews on here. That’s why I wanted to make a review here. I enjoy the game. There ARE better flight shooter type games for free on the App Store, but I’m satisfied with this, as it is more of a casual thing for me. Fun game!

There’s issues that need addressed. Over all this is a fun game. Just like the one I played growing up in the 80’s, in which I pumped a lot of quarters into. There is a few issues I have though. 1. The dog tag charger doesn’t charge when I’m done playing. When I come back to play the game, I’ve got the same amount of dog tags as I did before. To get the full amount of tags I have to restart my phone to do so. I shouldn’t have to do that!! 2. The Quest list doesn’t reset when it says it’s going to. 3. The Assault and Intercept modes doesn’t reset either. Please fix these bugs. I really don’t want to abandon this game. 1942 as always been my favorite arcade/video game. I really want to give this game 5 stars.

Unlimited Gems, hit Restore Purchase. I downloaded the app several times when it froze. The game is very challenging. I made some purchases. One day I went to settings and pushed “Restore Purchase” several times. Then the Gems increased automatically. I was able to acquire the plane I want and upgrade the weapon systems. I am having so much fun advancing through the levels at Crazy mode. Thank you Onesoft!!

Absolutely Terrible Update - Disappointing. The new update is awful. If I knew the new update was going ruin the game I never would have updated it. The old layout was fun with a true arcade feel to it. Before the new update, It was easy to navigate between levels and earn coins and jewels. Now, it seems you have to use medals just to play and the bosses are not loading at the end of a level. Also, it is too busy and seems you have to pay for everything. After playing this game for almost a year, I’ll be deleting it now. A word of advise for the developer(s): if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Highly Disappointing.

Awesome.. but. Great game. But on level six there’s a glitch can’t win crazy level. On the screen that says requirements for meeting goal is Complete 70% HP remain Destroy 90% enemies Then when you start that level it shows hard level requirements. So never get third star.

Great retro game! Challenging and fun!. I used to love playing games like this in the arcade back in the day. This takes me back. Great retro game. I just finished level 50 (iPhone 11). Never spent 1 dime. (Have to be patient - some days just get the rewards - maybe only play boss or infinite to get resources.) Was not bombarded with adds (couple offers will pop up each day you play). Don’t know how many hours I played (many many hours), but never had 1 glitch or crash. Solid app and very challenging. Maxed out the F-100 Super Saber. Awesome fighter! This game was a TON of FUN. Nice job and thank you! I will look into your other games.

Glitches with watching ads. Gameplay is cool, but you’re encouraged to watch ads for extra gold and gems, but sometimes you get awarded nothing for watching the ads. Sometimes instead of watching 10 ads you end up watching 20 to collect items. Completely frustrating. Can’t rate it higher than 3 until this glitch is fixed & borderline close to deleting it

One Star – Ruined by Greed. I used to enjoy this game, but the recent update completely wrecked the experience. They made older levels harder by retroactively adding new obstacles like the lightning, clearly to push players toward in-app purchases. Some levels feel outright impossible now unless you pay for upgrades. On top of that, the game is flooded with ads, so frequent it’s unbearable. It’s obvious the developers are prioritizing money over a fair gameplay experience. Disappointing and frustrating.

There odds are way wrong. How is it possible in the gem wheel for free gems that there are 12 spots to win 4 spots for 10 gems, 4 spots for 25 gems, 2 spots for 50 gems and 2 spots for 100 gems but yet the odds of getting anything higher than 10 gems is extremely low. Out of ten spins you get maybe one spin that is over 10 gems which is only the 25 gem wedge the odds of getting something over that is very very very low maybe 1 in 50 if your lucky. POOR POOR POOR odds. Developers need to make it fair. Shame on them for making it take months to get anywhere unless you spend your hard earned money.

Fun for what it is. I pair the extra to put the kibosh on ads, and it worked for a while. A long while. With the recent update, after every map, there’s an ad now though. Every. Single. Map. When intentionally watching an ad for a free chest opening, it won’t register the watch, and make you rewatch a video to move to the next screen. Maybe it can be addressed in a future bug fix or something, as the “restore purchases” button does nothing. I don’t have Facebook to message about it, so maybe a review will work? That could be another thing, have a way for people without Facebook to message about the app maybe. Regardless, app is deleted, I’m over it. Tired of ads after everything, AFTER paying for the ad free content and plane upgrade.

Latest update fixed some issues but caused others. I’m happy to say that the latest update (v.66) finally fixed the long-standing issue with the XP-55 and F9F wingmen not shifting targets but instead continually firing at the same point in the sky. Those planes are usable now! However, it broke a couple other things for me. First and foremost, I can’t watch ads since the new version came out, and thus can’t get the free gems and gold you get for watching ten ads a day. It just continually tells me “Ads is not available!” It also means that I can’t get the x4 gold bonus for watching ads after a won stage in campaign mode. More minor issues the new upgrade introduced include that we lost the running points tally in Intercept mode, and now every Campaign and Intercept game says “Wave 1” at the start like you’re playing Assault mode instead of giving the Boss warning message in Intercept mode or stating what stage you’re on in campaign mode. Aside from that, I love the game and have played it religiously. I’d rate it five stars except for these noted issues And despite what some say, you can win and accumulate gems/upgrades over time without spending money, though you have to be patient and smart about it. If I could have any complaints, it’s that the campaign is too short at only 50 stages. You don’t have to resort to the more expensive planes but can win it with a fully upgraded F-100 alone. If you’d like us to use and possibly pay for the more expensive and powerful planes, we need a reason to do so. The length of the campaign should be doubled to 100 levels and made so that the later levels require progressively stronger planes to win or advance. By the time you hit level 100, it should take a fully equipped F-117 to even have a chance to win. Just my two cents. Thanks again for the game, which I did throw some money at as a reward for giving me hours of entertainment. I’d be happy to do so again in exchange for additional fixes and levels.

Bugs and frustration. On player v/s player even if you have the same or a higher rank than the other player, the game is set to be super difficult so you lose multiple times in a row. When you watch adds for rewards, you rarely get the reward after sitting through the commercial. The creators of this game have made some obvious bugs in an effort to frustrate you into purchasing upgrades. This game and its developers are garbage! Don’t waste your time!

Fun but.... Fun but the game still needs some improvements. It appears they fixed level glitches but they haven’t fixed the ad glitches. You have to watch X number of ads for a chest or to get gold or what have you but let’s say that number is 10. Be prepared to watch 15-20 because they don’t always register.

Ads rarely give the reward. Very annoying to watch an ad to build up rewards, and then not get the reward. Fix the issue!!

Fix my no ads please. Paid to have no ads and all I got was a “purchase successful” but I still have the ads. Can this be rectified please.

New Update is freezing. And needs update. Something wrong with new update. Planes stop coming after a while and does nothing. Please fix

PVP - Why?. What’s the point of PVP? The first two battles are easy enough then every level after that enemies become almost impossible to shoot down guaranteeing your PVP opponent a win, unless they crash before you do. I’d have rather seen more campaign levels or more ways to unlock planes. Also, I paid to not see ads. Why am I still seeing ads?

Too buggy. Locks out use on ads for stars and can’t get back in or doesn’t pass in rewards. This app is getting worse!

Pity about the adds. Otherwise a great classic. The watch video for bonuses and continues doesn’t always work for some reason , nothing to do with the time limit either.

Great little game - nostalgia rules !. Highly recommended, a real blast from the past !

Flash back. Takes me back to arcade days! Them amiga days!

Disappointed. Servers been offline for about 4 weeks now. Can’t play pvp or see my stats. I’ve played this game for about a year without spending any money and was able to level up most things. Can’t message as you go to their website and no help. Waste of time

1942 & 1945. Both games have crashes with regards to resetting each 24hrs. Just keeps going around saying it will reset & then starts another 24 hrs. Makes the game unplayable because you can not increase diamonds & money.

Horrible. App is overwhelmingly overrun by ads. Ads are shown halfway through the game and freeze which forces the user to quit the app and restart the game. Would not recommend this to anyone

Update a bit buggy. After update in iPhone Level 12 and 17 in crazy mode final boss not even appear and no 22 in hard mode in final show down - only aircraft keep going alone and game never stip - it is bug - where crazy mission can not be completed but new patch fixed it

Bad bad update.. No rewards for watching adds. Game is getting boring now as can not progress without rewards. Which ultimately means I will stop playing and your adds will stop being viewed. Loose loose situation for for ONE SOFT! I was going to download another ONE SOFT game 1943 but the reviews are even worse. Later.

Oh the memories. I remember playing this back in the day and 1 of my all time faves I used to play a game called elevator I hope the developers release an app of that 1 also.

Adds. The fk watch the add to continue is broken You watch the fk add all the way but can’t close it to continue playing you have to close the app and reopen it

Classic old-school arcade action. Just like the 1980’s arcade classic! This takes me back to the good old days when arcade games were 20c a go and could be found in almost every YMCA and takeaway!

Adam.. It doesn’t go past stage 26. There must be a glitch in the system is something. Otherwise it’s fun to play.

Homage to the original. Probably the best thing about bringing it to mobile is that it follows your finger, totally blows the original out of the water in that sense

Fun but limited. Fun game but grows limiting after a while if you don’t want to pay for upgrades. Also watching ads to get free stuff doesn’t work either .

Ad server is a complete fail. Watched 10 ads and NO reward. This pay to win game could earn 5 stars given how simple this game is. The ability to watch ads to get the same things as a wallet player is okay, even if could take a few years. The bug that makes ad watching pointless by refusing to give the reward makes this a 0 star game.

Love it. Use to play this in the arcades like 20 years ago and it was the best.. great to see it on mobile now

Do Not Play. This was a fun game to start with but there are so many bugs - I lost all in game purchases, achievements and progress. After reading reviews on their Facebook group it happens often. I’ve tried contacting the developer - emailed and messaged on messenger - no response. Not happy considering there was money spent on the game. Don’t bother playing

Buying gems but no bonus added minus 1 star. So I brought some gems and your game stated that if I buy the gems I’ll get bonus gems 10%_20% and so on I’ve brought gems roughly about 7 times and got no bonus gems as stated. I understand ads for the free version, but…. … often now it doesn’t recognise that I’ve played the ad (for bonus spins, double stars, continue mission etc), requiring me to play two or more - I just did five and it still didn’t acknowledge! As if there weren’t enough ads in the first place. Aside from that, the game is ok, but am concerned after seeing some reviews that this app is still not ad-free after paying. UPDATE: ads seem to be getting even more frequent, so I have since paid to remove ads, and as others have noted, ADS ARE STILL APPEARING!!! Rating changed from 2 to 1 star for either dishonest practice or shoddy app build. UPDATE (9-Aug-19): After the major app update, ads finally appear to be gone (THANK YOU) aside from the optional ads you can play to collect bonuses which is ok, but now… • Some levels are unplayable - enemies stop appearing after a while and then the background keeps scrolling but nothing else happens. Some levels don’t even have any enemy planes. • Sometimes the larger planes that appear from the side stay at the side, like they’re stuck. Easy to shoot, but no challenge and no fun. • The background does not cover the full width of the screen - I suspect the previous issue may be related. Can’t really make much progress now. The frustrations continue.

Most of the ads don’t even allow you to press the x in the top corner to get back to the game and it forces you to play the advertised game!! 2020 Jan update,. This game is great except that so many ads are required to be sat through. The new update is buggy, I’ve watched through 7 x 30 sec adds and only 3 of them counted, last four didn’t even register. Think it’s time to stop playing this one at least until the horrible ad issues are sorted out.

Disappointed. Can’t work out how to get through the harder stages without running out of fuel. No two turns go the same way. No instructions either on how to improve chances. Very frustrating.

Beware- they are spying on you!!. This app has ads that ask about your marital status education background, level of income, and other personal details. If you look closely at the game, there are subtle spelling or grammatical mistakes that can only be made by people with a Chinese background. I know, I lived in China for years and learnt the language fluently. I know the kinds of grammatical mistakes they make. Do not answer their survey questions (dressed up as ads) to get measley rewards. I just deleted this game and all its data.

Great update. Less bugs and less laggy update new skill set added and improved gameplay mechanics for iPhones

In slow decline. I downloaded this game and all the functions didn’t work but it was still an enjoyable game. Now with the Google update, less of the functions work, not too sure how. UPDATE 6.8 - Improve fan ads. Result - They stopped working all together. With every update this game is losing functionality

Inappropriate ads. Parents beware! My son was planning this game and a very inappropriate sexual ad started playing! Preview says 4+ but that definitely does not apply to the ads.

Complete scam and horribly brutal lack of communication.. Horribly expensive to actually play. Then I deleted the app to get it to actually work and I lost all my purchases and they won’t even respond to help. WON’T EVEN RESPOND!!!

Frustration.. I enjoy playing, but watching ads for 4x the coin doesn’t always work. Also does not allow me to acquire more powerful planes beyond a certain level even after playing all levels at normal, hard and crazy.

Glitches. Glitches hard on intercept missions. One second I’m dodging missiles on right side of screen, next I’m blowing up on left side of screen. Don’t know how I got there though cause of the micro glitch!

New plane acquisition is a failure. Wonderful game overall. Only issue I have is with my new plane : everything was fine until I got the Curtiss. Despite its improved gun power (did some upgrades), it was weaker in a fight compared to the super Sabre. I can't even take down the first wave in the next level whereas I do it easily with the Sabre. Even after upgrading the wingman I saw no difference at all! Something is wrong!

1,942 Commercials. So many very long commercials it’s virtually unplayable. I’d estimate 90% of my time on this app was watching commercials rather than actually playing the game. It’s just not worth it.

Good game but .,,.. Great little arcade game remade from the past. Unfortunately yes they are tons of ads. Second, with way the rewards are structured for plane and equipment upgrades, there is no advancing on equipment upgrades past level 40 and you pretty much max out on the third plane without - as another reviewer put it- slog through days and days of daily rewards to get just one upgrade. Not fun at that point.

Pay to play. I’ve played this game on and off, and recently again for a YouTube review. I enjoyed playing up until level 30. I had purchased (with gems) the fourth plane in the line up, and sadly the grind to continue upgrading it is getting too extreme. The levels past level 30 are getting un-beatable, as my ship is still too weak at 4 stars of damage. The upgrades for gold isn’t much of an issue, but it gets ridiculous paying 800 gems to continue. Since I’m now at stages that I can’t beat (one shot kills me instantly, and it takes ages to kill bosses or higher level mobs) I can’t get enough gold/gems to continue. You basically get forced to watch ads praying you’ll get enough gems to continue. I can tell that even with the Sabre plane fully upgraded, I’ll still hit a dead end and not be able to continue. This game offers a TON of free content, and is quite fun and fair in the early game. The best way I see to get gems, is pay 5000 gold to spin the wheel and pray. As gold is worthless while you farm 750 more gems to upgrade. Otherwise, paying would be the only option, and this game heavily wants you to pay up. Overall, if you’re going to start playing this game, and not pay any money, keep in mind you will not be able to beat it unless you loose your life to playing it.

WOW!. I’d just like to say, WOW! The graphics on this game are amazing and the levels aren’t to easy either! my great grandpa served in World War 2 so I’m sure he’d be honoured to know games like this were made.

Waste of my time. They give you an opportunity to earn gems by watching those dreaded advertisements up to 10 times a day and lately after watching, just nothing. No gems, doesn’t even indicate that you watched it. I’ve watched 2 advertisements in a row with nothing as if it never happened.

Don’t Waste Time or Money on XP-55 Ascender!. If you play this game, don’t waste your time or money trying to get an XP-55 Ascender! It is a horrible choice for game play. Even amped up it is far inferior to the F-100 Super Sabre which is supposed to be a weaker plane. I have not been able to clear a single level with the XP-55. Not one. It’s wingmen’s rate of fire is lame, even when expanded to 5 stars. HORRIBLE PLANE! Do not be temped to buy it even if the price drops to $27.00! You are better off trying to get the F-100 maxed out. Also, if you expect to get anywhere with this game, be prepared to spend $$. You won’t get far for free.

I’m lovin’ it. Love the game cuz it takes me back to the old arcade classics I grew up with. Haven’t experienced any glitches with the iPhone X. If you love the oldies and Goldie’s then add this to your collection.

Not the best. So the game is actually not awful but as single player goes it is very repetitive and the power ups are not fun or creative. You can basically choose what you want to get and none really impressed me alot. But a game that id good the first few times you play.

Game was fun, no longer supported. No more events, no more servers for PvP, impossible to unlock the last 4 planes. Game was good when it was supported but despite an update 2 weeks ago (I’m writing this in March of 2021), it appears it is now abandonware. Was a good game while it lasted but without the 4 planes locked behind an asset you can no longer obtain, there is no purpose.

Why am I still seeing ads?. I've put $20 into this app already and my purchase included the removal of ads, yet, after every map, I am subjected to an ad. Is this intentional or just some lousy programming? I'm more then willing to revise my rating if this problem is resolved but I tend not to stick with buggy apps for very long so if it's not fixed soon I'm sure I'll end up forgetting about this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AD REMOVAL PURCHASE IS BROKEN. If it weren’t for the broken Ad-removal feature, I’d give this 5 stars. Do NOT pay to have the Ads removed because that feature is broken. Also, don’t bother watching videos to receive the benefits offered therein because that is broken as well — the devs get paid, but you get nothing. Other than that, the game itself can be fun.

Paid for the game with no adds - STILL HAVE ADDS!!. Super fun game. I really enjoy playing. BUT, when you pay for no adds and you still get adds it is pretty much a dupe by the developers. Broken!!!!!. This game was great but there are ads everywhere and sometimes you can’t close them. Moderately intersecting, not fair, ad filled. Gosh, where do I start... Watching ads SOMETIMES gives you the reward. Lucky wheel has the lowest prize in 1/4 of the spots, I just got in 9 times in a row. Seems to hit about 65% of them time. If you play in the infinity mode you almost always pass only 4 levels regardless of the plane you are using. Speaking of planes, in two modes of the game you get to play 4 aircraft once per day. The program picks which ones, usually favoring your worst aircraft - and sometimes selects ones you don’t have meaning you play less than 4 per day.

Purchased ‘ad free’ - still get ads. The game is fun, exactly what you expect - a near exact replica of your favorite arcade game. It is exactly what I was hoping for! Unfortunately, the ads are nonstop, after every mission. I purchased a package which included ‘ad free’ for $3 - seemed totally worth it. I didn’t even care about the other stuff, I just wanted ads gone. They’re still three. After. Every. Single. Mission. Please fix this bug! It would be a good game without the constant 30 second ad you have to sit through.

No support. After spending over $300 on upgrades and buying planes the new update deleted all that. The restore purchases only adds coins and diamonds 1000 and 500 respectively but no planes. I paid for no ads but I still get ads after every screen. Support is inly via Facebook. I do not use Facebook.

Level25. I just figured out how to pass level 25. You have to earn three stars on previous 24 levels.

Poor update. Ugh!! The layout is visually time-consuming. The dashboard is way too busy and everything costs more. Weapons changed for the worst (shoots slower) and you can’t compare planes objectively. Planes now have stars. What does that mean?? Do more stars = more power? Faster speed?? It totally lost that basic 1980’s retro feel it used to have which made it fun. I’m out.

Around 9 days ago research who the website claims be the developers of this game, and detailed explain problems that lately are happening; what a shame because it’s such amazing game, but doesn’t gives rewards for the advertising or purchases; be aware and don’t get ripped off for this game!!!

Major glitch in the game do not waste your time or money.. Glitch in the game at level 12. I spent a lot of money on upgrades to get far in the game. Then on level twelve after 30 seconds no more bad guys come and the screen just keeps scrolling with no one to fight and it never ends. Not ever allowing you to finish the level or move to the next one. Very frustrating

Not bad but.... Not a bad game. Reminds me of the original 1942 NES game. There only issue I have is when I purchase the no adds feature, I expect not to watch adds in order to continue to play the game. It has happened to me 3 times now. I end a mission and I have to watch an add. Not cool.

Mehhhh. Not particularly bad, but the progression system is objectively imbalanced towards the premium currency. On top of that the rewards with which you can watch ads to receive sometimes just do not work. Overall this game is an alright concept, but needs the bugs ironed out.

Extremely repetitive, impossible to get anywhere without paying. It’s inspired by classic arcade style, for whatever that’s worth. But at some point, you will be able to go no further without paying. You either have a ridiculous amount of ads, or have no internet and are extremely limited on how far you can go.

Bug on hitting the next button after completing a level. U have to watch 2 or videos and the shut the game off cause the next button doesn’t work .. and u lose all ur accumulated stars and gems too this is a good game but that bug needs to be fix

It’s Finally Here. I’ve been waiting for 1942 to be on the phone. It’s my favorite game. So happy to finally be able to play it anytime now.

Annnnd...I’m done. Yet another pay to play game with no real way to advance unless you...wait for it....pay for upgrades. Combine this with the fact that there only a limited number of levels to play, it makes for a crappy game to play. Thanks, but no thanks. Deleted the game and looking for something else.

The worst!!. I played this twice and deleted it. After you complete a level and have collected all your stars it makes you watch a 30 sec commercial; I’m cool with that...the thing is after you watch the 30 sec commercial you can’t move on to the next level. This P.O.S game makes you start all over and you lose all the stars that you collected! I’m done!!

One annoying glitch. Easy a five star game, except when you win a level you cannot click the next button for the next mission. You have to completely close the app. Extreme annoying!

No updates for a couple years. 5 months ago they upgraded it for iOS but no upgrades to this game have been done in ages. No new levels, new planes, etc… completed everything and got bored. Dont spend $ on this game.

Ads crash gameplay. Gameplay is great, but the ads are frequent and lengthy and often overlap into game play, or crash game play into a blank black screen requiring a reboot of the app.

Stay away. I understand that these companies are out to make money, but this game is just a money grab. Stay away it’s not worth it. The in game cost for any purchases are astronomical. And any upgrade made is met 10 fold by the AI, so if you want to succeed you are forced to spend more money. You have been warned. Any rating above a 1 star is bogus.

Needs update. I’ve been playing this game it’s okay but when you try to refresh your game to re-enter it freezes on the junk ad you have to watch then you have to close it re-open and lose everything you did!!! Fixing to delete app!!!!

Annoyed. This latest update is horrible! Gone is the look and classic feel that drew me to the game in the first place. I had played so long to accumulate gems and coins waiting for the next upgrade. Glitchy. Love playing, but very glitchy, there are no instruction on how to upgrade, so you have to figure it out as you go. sometimes the ads work sometimes they don’t. To get enough wrenches you either spend a fortune or play for ever.

This game is a cheat. This game is a power hog. So, what else is it doing? Playing this game will cheat you out of your money. The only way to beat this cheat, is to play to get your daily reward. Playing the game does not give you the jewels needed to advance. Ad watching, spinning gold for jewels are just a ploy to get you to buy what you need to advance in the game.

Cannot click next mission. You cannot click next mission after you complete one.... you have to close the app and restart... very annoying

Meh.. Good game but 2 MAJOR issues. When you claim the Elite Aircraft Chest, many, many times it DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE STARS TOWARD NEW AIRCRAFT!!! Major glitch here, people. Also, the “Lucky Wheel” should be renamed the Unlucky Wheel. The odds are not at all fair compared to the number of spots for 100, 50, or 25 gems. Two stars until these are fixed. Five stars after they are fixed.

NEED FIX! Missions Don’t Complete After New Uodate. Since the new update, some missions don’t complete. This happens with mission 22,17, and 22 normal level for me. Because of this I’m stuck and can’t move on until there is a patch. The mission starts, but after a couple of waves no more enemies appear and the plane just flies forever and there’s no way to complete the mission. This is a massive problem. Because the game is unplayable for new people past level 12. Please patch this ASAP. Problem is that there’s no way to contact developer. Facebook page hasn’t been updated for a year.

Too many ads since the last update. Even after having spent the $0.99 on removing ads its ads galore after each play. The continue button doesn’t even work. You either have to watch double the amount of ads or hit the home button (after having to watch two adds there too). Getting annoying.

Force cose after every level. Not only that. When I watch the ad to double my stars it doesn’t work... then I have to force close and play the next level. Very annoying.
