Apps are missing something. PS apps are great but there’s one thing that’s missing that would not be difficult to add to one of the many apps they have. The one reason I wanted to download the app was so I could share a video I recorded while playing Rocket League the night before. We need an app for sharing our Media Library! After downloading I was impressed with everything else the apps were capable of but disappointed it was missing something seemingly simple. Looking forward to this!

Bug issues. The app isn't working for IPad Mini first Gen. I kno it's an older model blah blah. -__- I have and older version of the app. It was working flawlessly until around yesterday morning : /. Keeps asking me to sign into my PSN then says "Incorrect Numbers" for the first couple attempts . Once signed in it gets stuck on a solid blue screen. I close the app and reopen it and does it all over again. Please fix. Thank you.

Very useful. I saw that this app doesn’t have that many good reviews but it’s pretty good. It’s as the title states it allows you to control your ps4 using your device. It’s very responsive and I like using it when I’m playing games and I need to talk in chat. Overall a good app with very few bugs.

There is untapped potential. What they have is an unfinished Idea of being able to play your games from your PlayStation straight to your phone no the problem here isn’t the app itself. Its the fact that they have not incorporated their ideas into the games. More of their games need to have support if the second screen app. The best I can do is a controller. So I won’t get rid of the app with the high hopes of them using the app to its full potential. Please sony please. Do what is right

Disappointed.... I'm sorry Sony, but I am really disappointed in this app, if it wasn't bad enough, you keep on separating your apps from the main one. Then the second screen does not even work... Yes! The main point of this app, and it won't even work... Fix this now! It would awesome if I could view the game I'm playing on my iPhone, so that I don't really have to be in my room all day, instead I could use my iPhone as a screen! C'mon guys, I know you can fix this problem.

Great But Weird. I did all the steps and joined my friends party to test it without him knowing I was gonna test it out and I said funny stuff and then it showed me what my friends were saying and ps text to speech started showing my friend was saying false stuff and swear words including the n word

I Love This App, I Use It Most Of The Time On My PS4, I Mostly Use It On THE PLAYROOM, It’s Fun, But There’s One Problem, When I Use AR Studio In The Playroom Using Second Screen, It Translates To Another Language I Don’t Understand And It Doesn’t Work, PLEASE FIX THIS PLAYSTATION! i cant do it while i poo. so while im gaming gamin sometimes i need to take a big old poo. this was problematic because i could not take my console and tv into my bathroom. i was going to go to a store to buy some extension cord but then i found this app. I CAN FINALLY POO WHILE PLAYING GAMES. but alas the app dose not work. so i went and bought the extension cord and connected them. this got me in trouble because while i was moving my tv my mom spotted me and drop kicked it across the hall. now all i have is a ps4 and extension cords, thanks sony.

Works as Expected/Intended.. Reading through some of the reviews for this app, and you are quickly reminded just how stupid some people are… This app does Exactly what it’s intended to be used for, with very little issues.. The app is not for streaming your consoles video output.. That’s what the “PS Remote Play” app is for! Yes your console must be on the same local network for this app to connect to it. Bluetooth just is not going to cut it. This app is intended to be a basic remote control, and to work as a companion for games that support the “Second Screen” feature: like displaying the in game map on your phone so you don’t have to keep opening it in game to see where you are. The game being played has to have this feature coded into it. This app can’t just magically make that happen. Maybe folks should make sure they are using the app for what its intended for before they start running their mouth in a review because their mad that the dog won’t meow!

Almost pointless. First there was One app for everything PlayStation 4. Now there are 3 apps. At first I was ok with that. Rather than 1 app doing it all adequately they made 3 to focus on each specific feature to make them even better. That’s what I thought. Instead, I ended up downloading all 3 apps to notice absolutely no performance difference and some even got worse. The main reason I wanted this app was to be able to turn my PlayStation on as soon as I was connected to my WiFi. This app never finds my PlayStation. It never lets me do that therefore I really have no reason to even keep it downloaded.

Absolutely horrible. First why does PlayStation have to have a separate app for everything when Xbox is all in one? Second I downloaded this horrible app to use my phone to connect to my PS4 but when I start the app I’m basically told I need to use a controller first. THATS THE ENTIRE REASON I DOWNLOADED THIS TO BEGIN WITH. My remote is broken and I can’t buy a new one right now so basically thanks for nothing and wasting my time again. I’m glad I didn’t pay 1¢ for my PlayStation as it was free and rarely gets turned on. But my gosh try to do something on PlayStation but nope doesn’t work

You need to install the PSapp first!. When I first tried this app on my iPhone7 I could not for the life of me figure out how to make it work. It would just sit on the loading screen and eventually time out and I never got anywhere with it until this time when I installed the PSapp and the Second Screen app at the same time. I opened the PSapp first and logged in and then clicked on the second screen function thru the app. Now this app works well and functions smooth on my iPhoneSE, it’s really more of a plug-in than it’s own app

Doesn’t work. When I bring up the app it can not find my PS4. I am on the same account and network and it still won’t work. Would love if it did as it seems really useful. Edit: I recently bought a brand new PS4 pro and it still can not find my PS4. I am at a college university but I would think that that wouldn’t matter. 2 PS4s and 0 connections. I really want this to work.

No functional “X” button.. I was hoping to use my iPhone as a remote control instead of the DS4 to watch video apps on my ps4. Would be 4, maybe 5 stars EXCEPT: “Tapping to select” does not register as an actual “X” button press in most video apps, making the main control feature useless. Could be a great app for people who don’t have room on their coffee table for yet another remote, since there are no reliable physical universal remotes that work for the PS4. Otherwise App runs with no problems, can access controls for home screen; Even for use on the on screen keyboard... though the swiping “D-pad” feature is quite annoying. Much rather prefer virtual “ x, square, triangle and circle buttons ” and Directional-pad as main controls for this app instead.

Needs functioning second screen. All in all, it's a good app. My only issue is that the second screen function should work regardless of game compatibility because it seems like there is a lack of compatible games. I would really love to use the second screen function so if I want to, I can record some gameplay separate from the consoles recording.

Update the ps3. If the ps3,4&5 could play call of duty or just a few games all together along with Xbox idk how it works but game developers and console creators or developers or the whole team needs to make this happen why wouldn’t y’all make games cross platform? The ps3 should be able to play with the ps4 it’s just not even right that this never happened it’s like discrimination against the best system ever built despite how old it is it’s still great!!!!

IGNORE ALL REVIEWS!! I have the truth!!. The app is great on my iPhone 6s. You connect it to your PlayStation and can control the ps menu with your phone and text messages controlled by your phone to text faster, and the 2nd screen though says it only works in “2nd screen supported games” which means that there aren’t many games that can use the 2nd screen. Idk if it works worse for y’all but it’s a good app. If you wanna see the ps screen the whole time even on ANY game I recommend purchasing the R PLAY app.

Suggestion. I think this app should have more to it.. when I saw this app I though it might have been for people without a PS camera instead it is a app that is confusing. This app has more potential to it then adding text to a broadcast I think it should have a feature where you can record yourself while streaming like with PS camera! Thanks, Princess_Tay06 ❤️

Doesn’t work with the PS5. Which is weird as the other playstation apps, even the remote play app works fine. Annoying because the keyboard typing function was especially useful when playing games that require typing. I expect more out of PlayStation and Sony, don’t keep an app around that you aren’t going to support please. Doesn’t make me feel confident in your ability to integrate platforms and maintain connectivity across different brand products.

THAT’S AMAZING. First words out of my mouth, no lie! Are these other people for real? Haha I just controlled my PS4 using my iPhone and experienced precision at a level I wasn’t expecting. Had to pay homage to y’all for once again, changing the game. Was that a pun, let’s make that a pun...

Where is second screen. It’s really work as a second controller instead of a second screen. hopefully the devs of this app will read this because the app would be a lot more useful if the second screen mode was a actual second screen ,so instead of looking at the tv screen to play the game you can look at your phone

Mac address changed after iphone update. I have been using the app for a long time and daily. I actually turn on my ps4 from my phone as I walk to my front door. Today while at home using it to type, i have to reconnect. I go to settings as it asks and see my iphone already there. MAC address is the same. I “add device” anyways and now shoes 2 iphones and the newest has a different mac address? Why? Is this an iPhone issue or the app?

It’s really not bad. This app isn’t much, and it probably should be in the PS app. However, it still functions properly, and doesn’t take up much space. Stop acting like children because this app is fine.

Too many apps, so little time.. Why can’t Sony get it together and have everything on one app like they used to? Few months back they had the message and second screen option all on the Sony PlayStation app and now I need different apps to access different capabilities? Trash. Though the app works, it was just easier when they didn’t change anything.

What happened?. When i first got this app it worked well and I was able to type easier using my tablet instead of using the PlayStation typing method but now the app won’t load sometimes or when it does load I can’t never open up the typing feature.. it’s annoying trying to type on the PlayStation using the controller and this was so much easier please fix it

Useless for quick text, terrible color design. The color choices are terrible for night time use. I think an intern made this. If there isn’t going to be a night mode, then make all the screens a single light or dark color so displays can be inverted. The worst part is the terrible lag between trying to type on screen and the app registering you’re ready to type. It takes 10 seconds and rocket league so that makes the app completely useless. How did the old original app work flawlessly for three years?

Not a constant use :/. Would love to use this app for navigating other menus besides just the home screen, is there a bug that can be fixed or a way to make it so when I click on Netflix/Hulu that I’d be able to navigate those as well without having to turn a controller on? I can hit the ps button in the app and it takes me back but I can’t navigate the tv apps at all

From 1 great app, now requiring 3 separate apps!!!. Absolutely mind boggling! We had one great app that handled EVERYTHING on PSN. PS Store, messages, second screen, even watching somebody's Share Play stream ALL FROM ONE APP. Then they removed messages and put them in their own app... what was the point of that at all? Just because Facebook did it? It wasn't a good idea then and it's still a bad idea now... Now they've really outdone themselves by splitting the app yet again; Second Screen is gone, now requiring 3 separate apps to do the job of 1... Who makes these decisions? After Sony releasing a "4K" PS Pro console that doesnt have a 4K disk player, I'm starting to think they are managed by buffoons.

Stop Complaining. It’s a separate app, not a separate paid app. They didn’t do this for money or any conspirical reason. They most likely did this to streamline the second screen feature into its own thing instead of having to open the “3 in 1” app. I, for one, would rather have this separate so I don’t have to wait for the main app to load. This goes for the Messages app as well: I hated having to wait to navigate the menu just to get to messages, messages should be its own thing. The bottom line is that this does what the main app used to, but without the menu navigation. If you don’t like it don’t download it, it’s not a big enough feature to care about this much. Although the complaints about it being slow or not conmecting should be looked into. Since they have gone and made into its own thing it should be working perfectly or at the least as well as it would on the main app.

Incredibly frustrating. I never had an issue with Sony deciding to split their app into 3, but today changed my mind completely. While attempting to sign into the second screen app, I had to verify I was a human signing it. Nothing out of the ordinary there, or so I thought. Either Sony’s authentication system is bugged/broken or it is THE WORST system in the world. For the sake of making this review I sat there for 5(!!!!!!) minutes doing every dumb picture verifier known to man....and I got nowhere. I have other means of doing what I needed to, but having this happen is so frustrating to deal with and I hope that Sony re-evaluates the awful system in place.

Love it but have suggestions. I love everything about the app it’s useful I use it from time to time, the only thing I see as an issue as of right now is the fact that I can’t control the Netflix app from the app, Netflix usually have a notification that pops up asking are you still watching, when that pops up I cannot use the app to push yes to remove the notification. Still overall love the app just needs work on controlling other apps like Netflix.

Okay. I wouldn’t recommend getting the app if you want to use a phone instead of a controller for your PS4, but it certainly helps type faster and easier than you would with a normal controller. Syncing my phone with my PS4 was really quick and easy (took thirty seconds, max) and I’ve been using it to type for a while now.

I find it useful but…. I would rate it 4 cuz I find it very useful to communicate message. I am deaf gamer, I am glad to read text when other players are speaking. However, I have been run some problems yesterday. I can speak to players and they can hear me what I can say. Somehow this app started to freeze and they can’t hear me when I speak. They think I mute it but I did not. When I check on setting from private and microphone is always on this app. But they still can’t hear me. Please fix this, I like communicating with teammates and working as team through the game.

Poorly thought out.. Not only does this needlessly add another application to my device cluttering up the home screen, it’s designed in such a way that it’s not available the time you need it most. When you’re setting up a new PS4 you have to enter in lots of new information. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to use this app? Well you can’t. You need to set up the PS4 before you can use this.

Number not correct. I’ve been playing on PlayStation 4 for a long time now and I travel a lot so I like bringing it along with me, hotels however do not support consoles but can connect to my phone, I saw this app and wanted to try it out thinking I could have WiFi from my phone connect to the PlayStation. I’ve tried at least ten times to connect the ps but each time I type in THE CORRECT NUMBERS it says that the numbers were not correct. I don’t know if the PlayStation also needs WiFi to connect the phone but it still kind of aggravates me that it’s the “Incorrect number”. I think that it would be nice to actually connect my phone to my PlayStation.

Good while it lasted. Got this app a few months ago. It worked just fine, served its purpose. I just needed it to make responding in my community a lot easier. Suddenly this week it can no longer find my PS4 for some reason. Says “No PS4 Found” when it used to just automatically connect. I’ve tried rebooting my PS4, signing out of the app, deleting and reinstalling the app, updating my phone and the app itself. No change. Thank goodness there’s a separate community app! 4 stars because the app usually did as it was intended to do until recently. It made typing A LOT easier. I’ll really miss using it:/

Does its job.. It does what it was meant to do. I’d like it if you could switch to a darker theme when selecting your system, as the white screen is really bright. While i will agree that taking out the feature from the original app was kind of lame, i will probably use this one over the main app from now on because all i used the app for was for turning on the system while in another room.

REALLY?! Sony not again!!. Ok Sony it’s enough stop taking away features from the main app and turning them into their own apps it’s really dumb like why don’t y’all just keep all the features in the main app what’s the point of splitting features away into their own apps just leave them in the main so people can have it easy and enjoy all the features please listen to the other reviews and RETURN ALL FEATURES TO THE MAIN APP YOUR LOSING INTEREST SONY!!

Love the text-to-voice & vice versa feature. This feature is the reason I downloaded this app in the first place. Voice to text works greatly, and is actually pretty hilarious when it translates wrong.

Could be better could be worse. While I would prefer to have consolidation of the apps again, this does work basically pretty well. I don’t love the giant bright white blank screen however when I’m inputting text on the PS via my tablet. Love having that feature, just don’t love the bright screen on the tablet that goes with it. White screens drain batteries faster, and they make me turn my brightness down which then I have to readjust when I leave the app.

1 app to 3 apps. This is a real dis advantage because the app rarely works. Being in one app is so much easier. Like the xbox app it might be hard to navigate through it but eventually you will get used to it. So really this is so bad for your career i think you should put it back into one app so its easier. And also the one app thing was better because ot doesnt take up much space. This is too much data for one gaming system

doesn’t work in its current state. “cannot read text aloud” is what it tells me on the party screen (the feature I was most interested about). other features of this app are useless and are quicker to do with a controller. I presume the issue I am having will be patched out whenever this gets updated next, but when reading information about it, it sounded plenty different from actually using it

App doesn’t live up to it’s name. I love playing on the PlayStation 4 it is one of my hobbies and with the recently added remote play I thought it was really cool and when I saw this I thought ‘wow I can see the screen on my phone and use the controller to play!’ But sadly this is not the case. Instead it is designed for people who want to swipe up and down, side to side, press the ps button, options, and back. Also it features a almost useless 2nd screen only compatible with very small games that support the feature. It is rather useless. It wouldn’t however if they made it where it mirrors the screen and lets you use your controller instead of the awful ones on remote play. Sorry but that is all I’m saying that people would enjoy.

Why Sony? WHY?!?. I was on my way to turning off my PlayStation on my second screen as I normally do on my PlayStation app and turns out I have to download yet another application when it was already perfect in the PS app !! I don't understand why Sony intentionally makes it more of a hassle by making us download more things when they were all originally on the PS app. I already don't have storage on my phone for more apps and it makes me want to delete all useless PS apps. In other words thanks for making it worst.

App as so much potential and needs to be worked on. The apps seems like great concept, however, the addition of the control needs to be fixed. There is a delay for each command which makes it harder to play. It also be great if I was to play my game son the go without having to turn on my ps4. An idea that I want to give is a second screen- full screen, while playing multiplayer id be able to play on a full screen and my friend can be playing on the T.V full screen. Like I said, has potential but needs much improvement.

Why am I stuck in another language?!?. This app used to work for the AR studio game on the game called playroom for ps4 now it doesn't work it only happens when I connect to the game on AR studio All the other games for second screen work on that but this doesn't ! I deleted my data for the game and deleted my registered device and reregisterd it again I even deleted the app and redownload it and it still is stuck in another language that can’t hook up to my ps4.

Need improvements for iOS. The app it’s self is good but when you want to use the control for an iPhone or iOS device it doesn’t allow you. Even though I have an iPhone 8 Plus literally the same size of the ps4 controller 100x the amount of the ps4 controller price it still doesn’t allow you to use it as a controller. Needs to be fixed pleaseee!!! Thank you for the also being free. 👍

It used to be 5 stars in the ps app altogether. This is a terrible idea and most gamers like me who are loyal PlayStation fans hate the fact that we need multiple apps for each feature that made the original PlayStation app into a perfect 5-star useful app. Go back to putting all features into one app please. Otherwise you're better off removing the apps for all the bad ratings they'll continue to be getting from all of us. The PlayStation app alone when it first released and all its features put altogether in one app used to be perfect! Perfect I tell you! Now it's all ruined and separated and useless!! Hmph! 😡

New idea / Suggestion. If PlayStation wants to really make a big impact on their mobile applications as well as their streaming user interface, they should have a feature where this app allows you to broadcast your gameplay to twitch while simultaneously allowing your phone and camera to stream video to the twitch as a dual feed.

Wont find my ps4 anymore. Ive been using this for a while now and just recently opened it back up because typing on ps4 during a game will get you killed. When i opened up the chat menu in the game nothing happened on my phone here and it wouldnt even register that there was a ps4 in the same room. I dont know if its an apple product thing or if its an issue with my ps4 but it worked when everything was just one app back in the past

SECOND SCREEN. What second screen you can’t see the screen on your phone if you play games where you need to type cool but you can’t see the game on your phone it should be called second keyboard! BAD!

Doesn’t even open. Downloaded app for use with my new ps4 pro and couldn’t even open the app for the first time. Crashes on start up.

Does not connect. Full stop.. This app does not connect to anything outright. Absolute waste of time.

Current version crashing. On iPhone 7, Xs and iPad 10.5, this just crashes on launch. Has been happening since Xmas 2018 so hope they fix it soon! Then maybe I can write about the app itself, not just its icon

Not good keyboard. I downloaded the app in hopes of being able to send messages in game quicker however the keyboard only connects if you are typing on ps4 and not in a games chat box. Would be good if this was changed

Currently crashing on open ;(. Just downloaded the app on the 2018 iPad Pro 11-inch model. After you select your privacy setting in the first time set up the app crashes. Tried force quitting and restarting it but didn’t work.

Constantly crashes on startup. Won’t even get past the first screen, just hard crashes to home screen

Could be something useful but isn’t. In the age of connected devices, there is no reason this couldn’t be a remote screen to actually play on, instead it’s a ‘me too’ app that’s a waste of space.

Agree to all data collection, app works... Disagree & App crashes.... Not surprising but very disappointing Sony... When setting up the App initially, as too if you attempt to change any time thereafter, Sony offer 2 options regarding user usage data. One allowing Sony to access user usage data & additional user data - ✔️ App works really well. Second option allowing Sony to only access user usage data for service purposes - ✔️ App instantly crashes and becomes inaccessible, try to open the app again with second option ticked and crashes on opening. It’s not so much the fact that these are options not choices it’s the principle that if you don’t allow Sony full stalking rights you can’t use this App. They were better off just using an agree/disagree button.

All i want is to use my phone as a remote!. This app is great, but for the simple use of acting as a remote when streaming video it is kinda overkill. I want to be able to watch video without having to turn my controller on/off every 5 minutes and realising the battery is critical whenever i go back to gaming! You need to improve quality of life issues before you try and break new ground, or else no matter how hard you try people will only remember the negatives! The app itself runs great, even on average adsl2+, and it is a good idea which will hopefully compete with google STADIA, but you gotta fix the little things!

Simply does not work. Trying to use it for text input and it just won’t work. Not to mention the bazillion apps to do one different function. Messy ecosystem you have there Sony

A lost cause.... The only thing this app saves me is with text/number input which is a 5 star point but... I don’t think Sony has worked much on taking advantage of what this app should be hence my 3 out of 5 star rating. Again as mentioned download this app if you don’t have a wireless keyboard for your console.

Hopefully a new app with second screen. This isn’t as great as the other PlayStation apps since this wouldn’t work efficient and fast

Handy could be handier. Maybe it defeats the purpose of what it’s supposed to be used for BUT it would be good if it could be used as a basic remote (play/pause/rewind/fastF)when I watch Netflix or dvds etc etc ...

Failure to launch. One star is being generous for this app. - does not even open. Aside from a second or so of it trying to open, this app. does absolutely nothing!

Add Bluetooth support?. I’m sure this app is fine if you have wifi at home but I have my mobile data to connect to psn do you see the problem here? Would it be possible to connect via Bluetooth instead?

Works great. Yes it’s annoying to have a hundred different PS4 apps, but this one works brilliantly. When it was integrated into the original app it didn’t work for me at all. I love being able to turn on my PS4 from across the room and no longer have to awkwardly type with the keyboard.

Privacy. Crashes on startup if Service Data Only selected. After reinstall, if you let don’t collect whatever it wants it loads. Great work Sony.

Why doesn’t it work for netflix app?. Somebody fix it so it works for Netflix I don’t want to turn my controller on to choose a movie just make it work for Netflix app and I’ll be happy Jeez

Hasn’t been updated in 3 months. The app hasn’t been updated for 3 months and going through the reviews, it’s been crashing and has been unusable for even longer than that. Clearly sony don’t care if their products don’t work.

Are you kidding?. Why is this app called ‘Second Screen’ no one can use your phone as a second screen. I and my friends have tried many games and none can use the phone as a second screen. This app is only good for messages and as a second controller. It’s good for nothing else. It has potential to be better and actually use your phone as a second screen. So thanks but either make it possible or change the name and get rid of the second screen ability. It’s kinda embarrassing.

Wont connect to ps4. Pretty backwards move making this its own app. Doesnt work for me and many others it seems

just terrible. first the message app, now you guys remove the second screen option from the main app. what next the friends list option where we need to download a new app just to see/view our friend’s list. terrible. so inconvenient.

Crashing. I can’t load this application up because all it dose is crash when I tap on it. I’m using an iPhone 7plus

PS4 Second Screen shuts down after splash screen appears.. Fails to start up. Splash screen appears, the Sony shapes move around showing activity and then the whole app minimises and does not start.

Money hungry. The reason I got the app it to join a ps4 party with my friends and you need a ps4 to use the app why not just use the real thing (I play on xbox)

Not happy. Downloaded the app on to my iPhone X at first looked okay at working but then it would not connect with my PlayStation four even when I had a Samsung Galaxy S8 downloaded the app and had the same problem

App crashes. Just downloaded the app and linked it to my ps4 pro. It worked the first time. Now every time I open the app it just shuts down immediately????

Doesn’t work with LAN. It doesn’t work when using a LAN cable. I know it says it has to be on the same network but I think a lot of us use a LAN cable

App stays on ps logo,. When I opened the app I was just on the ps logo Please fix

Wish I could give it -1000 star. What’s the point of PS4 second screen if it doesn’t even work? Logic? Get your act together.

No second screen. The name of the app is second screen then when you go to use device as second screen it says this is not available Very bad hate it

Absolutely terrible. Constant error messages makes the game completely unplayable!. This app shouldn’t have been allowed into the market if I (and most other people by the looks of it) am never able to play my game due to Second Screen coming up with an error message no matter WHAT I do to try and fix it (turning phone on and off, turning PS4 on and off, restarting my wifi, logging in and logging out…) You guys really should be handing out refunds for all the people who bought games that rely solely on this app to even be played, and who have wasted their money on unplayable games. Or just let me use my controller?? It’s like you wanted to be impressive and wow everyone with how you can use your phone to control the game but didn’t follow through with it and just left the games unplayable?! I’m normally impressed with PlayStations services but this sticks out from a MILLION miles away!

Problem need fixing. I can only connect it to the PS4 for the first time I turn it on then use the app but then I open it again another time and before me turning on my PS4 I don’t see my console name only console’s are their is others that are connected to the internet which the other consoles is not mine then turn the PS4 on with my DualShock 4 controller still can’t my PS4 I wish there’s an ‘Add device’ feature then I can connect my PS4 to my IOS device One more thing is the way it’s called second screen no one can use the second screen feature for any of there other games please fix this app then I’ll rate it 5 stars

2nd screen?. Why can’t use (bad language ahead) a ####ing second screen to mirror my games on a ####ing second screen app!!? Like it’s ####ing called second screen!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Can’t you make a direct screen mirror and not ask some developers to do it for you!?!? Lazy developers like just mirror the exact screen and hey presto! A screen mirror just put what’s on the tv screen onto the phone/ipad screen!?!? I’ll rate it better if that happens

This app is so temperamental. So much potential but nowhere near there yet. You can only use it on the Home Screen but doesn’t work in any apps at all or in menu, and that’s when it even wants to connect.

Great but there is a bug that’s really annoying. This app is great! Especially for the playrooms toy maker, but there is a glitch, when I try connecting to the playrooms at studio everything is in Japanese even when settings has it set to “English (Australia)” so please fix that thanks.

You haven’t even made the “second screen” function. You guys haven’t even made the second screen function, which is the main purpose for this app. You can barely do anything in it too. Plus, why don’t you just make only one app (the ps4 app), have all the functions. Like messaging and remote play, AND second screen. Please finish making this app. All the second screen says is, something about not in use yet or something.

Does not actually work as second screen. Not sure why this exists. I was pretty sure that was the case from the other reviews, but it does appear that this app has absolutely zero useful features. It did not work as a second screen for any application, or the ps home screen. The developers of this should remove it out of sheer embarrassment. What a poor job they did.

Don’t bother - it doesn’t work. Don’t use this app - it simply doesn’t work. Followed all instructions and googled for help but nothing I do can make the PS4 appear in the list to connect. It keeps stating no PS4 found. Don’t waste your time.

I don’t understand. I really don’t get what Sony is doing here. First we have everything all packed up in one and it worked pretty well. Then they splintered the app into like 4 different apps that you all had to balance including this one, second screen, messaging and the psn app. Then they removed the psn app and added the current PlayStation one and removed all the other apps including this one and added all the features to the current PlayStation app and we couldn’t download this app for a few whole years just to remove the features again and then re activate this app? It’s so out of whack man I don’t understand. this app doesn't run close to as well as it did when it came out the first time and all of this all around just sucks.

Useless app. Not only are there too many apps for PlayStation which should be 1, this is unusable crap. Swipe to navigate scrolls madly - should have been a tap on arrows to navigate. Once you launch say, YouTube, it is completely unresponsive. Uninstall.

Underwhelmed is about it. Disclaimer:This is a free product, so at the end of the day what I have to say is partly tongue & cheek. That being said, I have an old universal remote for a VCR from the 90s...it's about as as useful for my PlayStation experience as this app?!?! However, once you stop fidgeting with the 10 or so buttons that don't do anything, Once you explore the 2 or 3 functions that don't do anything. Once you press those 4 arrows that do nothing (mostly because you don't know what they are for). You let the anger pass over you. You welcome in the reasonable, more calm part of you that thinks about the big picture. This forces one to think back through the decades. Way back to December 3rd 1994 if one chooses. 28 years of game development, gaming splendor & flat out awesomeness Sony has delivered time & time again !!! This app is just Sony trying to be nice.... a forgettable drop in the decades of more joy than not, yes?

No PS5 support. I wanted to use my phone to enter text on my PS5.

Crap. It doesn’t prompt me with the keyboard for entering psn sign in email and password. THE MOST BASIC THING. total fail. Shame.

This app sucks. I’ve only used this app once for messaging on co-op and every time after it won’t let me open the app again. A pop-up appears saying it can’t connect to the network. Fix this please Sony!!

Why?. I liked the idea behind this. But I can’t find any games that support second screen. Even Sony doesn’t have a list of supporting titles. Google isn’t much help either. Why did I install this? Why should I not delete it? Give me a reason Sony. It’d take you less than an hour to make an official list of compatible titles available on your website.

Doesn’t work. It says no PS4 can be found but I’m right in front of it! My phone and the PS4 are connected to the same internet and it’s still not working. I’ve tried restarting and everything it’s not working! The app is broken.

Can’t login. Every time I try logging in to the app I get an authentication error saying to reset my password and if I do and try again I get the same error. Can’t contact support.

No ps4 found. I've used this a couple times, but when I try to connect now, it just doesn't show any ps4, even though my PlayStation is on and I've tried connecting it through the ps4 directly, even when I refresh and restart my device, it doesn't work.

Too hard for Sony. The PS Second Screen was awesome when I first came out. - Buying a Mount and Mounting your phone to the controller to be used as a HUD, Inventory or Mini Map was HUGE! - It’s a shame Sony kinda just stopped using it….

Nonsense. You can do better PlayStation. We had everything in one app and now like a juggling act we have 4 apps now to deal with. We used to have in it all in one and it worked great, sure the message app is better but seriously this second screen is trash and was always trash. I only used it to turn on and off my PS4 while I used the playstation app now I don't bother. If your gonna have it as a separate app give us the ability to actually have a "second screen" and view and control our consoles from our phone. Just as we dreamed the first time we say the feature.

default music. i TRY to use studio and it uses the most obnoxious default music when i start. there SHOULD be a way to control everything on the ps4 and to save the settings. clumsy

Worse than before. are used to use the PlayStation app to input text from my phone rather than using the PlayStation controller. It used to work great. Recently I went and tried to do this again and noticed that they had split second screen into its own app. Now text input from the phone doesn’t work, after inputting one character it freezes up.

Terrible. This is ridiculous. I was already mad that the messages app was stripped from the main app and now the second screen app has been removed as well. And to make matters worse, the second screen app doesn’t even work well. When I try to type a message on my phone to the PS4 it’s takes 15 seconds for the keyboard to pull up. This app is trash and needs to be added back to the main app.

Broken. Can’t even use the app. It just says “Cannot connect time network” then it cycles and loads again. Haven’t even gotten to this number screen people are talking about, because even tho I have cellular data and I’m on the same WiFi as my console it still says I’m not connected. Trash. Just get an Xbox and use the Xbox app, it’s everything Sony strives for this dumpster fire of an app to be. 😂😂

Not really a second screen. Haven’t found a game that actually uses the second screen function. Basically the app just lets you text with your phone, but PS messenger already does this. Also it gives you the ability to use your phone like a simple controller for your PlayStation. It seems like it could possibly be really cool but they kind of gave up on the idea before truly finishing it.

Security issues. My account got hacked shortly after installing this app I was able to fix it after signing off. It works fine but be careful. I had two apps this one and ps4 remote play. I’m now deleting the apps. I’m giving it 3 stars because it works fine but it also causes issues.

Whose idea at Sony?. When I think of the word ‘deconstructed’ I think of the food fad... not deconstructing apps to take away key functions to create a separate app. First you did it with messages, not you do it with second screen? Really? Whose bright idea was this at Sony?! Whoever that person is, give them a promotion. Not for this app idea, cuz it’s absolutely horrible; but for convincing the Playstation execs to actually allow it. Kudos to you for helping Sony go backwards.

Needs to be able connect even if not in same WiFi. Tried to use this over friends house a few houses down did not work because I need to be in same WiFi. They really need to make this a separate WiFi thing and I think many more people will use it.

Doesn’t even start. The app doesn’t even start. Once I launch the app a message of “cannot connect to network” appears immediately although both my iPhone and PS4 are connected to the same wifi and both have internet connection. “App support” icon on App Store takes me to a falsely website.

Doesn’t do much. Considering this is an entirely separate app, it doesn’t do much. Only real thing you can do is press the PlayStation button to go to your home screen. What does that do? It’d be cool if there were the actual buttons (square, triangle, circle, etc) so I could pause Netflix, browse and do other things besides go to my PlayStation home screen. Entirely separate app for no reason.

Controls and Lag need to be fixed. The app’s touch controls are a mess - All but one game don’t feel natural with touch controls. I would like customization of the touch controls, especially with the position of the left analog stick. The lag is good but can be better. The app works with any BT controller. Yay!😀

Just get a keyboard. That's what I’m thinking to do, now (the Logitech K810 looks nice). A once useful feature has now become a separate, yet laggy, app. It can still serve some purpose to see chat messages if you stream from your PS4. However, as a keyboard alternative, the extreme lag in the app's response whenever you click a message box has rendered the app mostly useless for that purpose.

This app does literally nothing. I love playing games on my ps4 and was excited when I saw this app. However when i tried to play games on this it just said “This screen is not in use.” And said nothing about how to use the screen. Its only purpose is to navigate the home menu without using your controller.

Man this is useless. Never in my life have I ever wanted an alternate to using my controller to navigate the PlayStation menu. That’s all this is. I google searched “PS4 streaming to phone” and this is what I got. Turns out the actual “second screen” is a feature of a very minute number of games. I’d imagine in a similar situation to like. The Wii U. Just let me mirror the PS4 screen to my phone please I beg you.

Amazing feature. Instead of buying a remote for your console Sony gives you an app. So genius of them works perfect

Too many apps!. Not sure why Sony decided to split the apps into 3 total apps. The apps themselves are good and UI is an improvement, but separating them up makes no sense. 3 stars because although I like the new UI, having to use 3 different apps is silly. Not terrible but we’re in 2017. The age of technology and we have to use separate apps. Come on Sony.

Lies. All I gotta say is whoever said it doesn’t connect didn’t read the instructions properly

Bug. Everything was perfect up to about 30 minutes ago when I tried to talk in a party with the second screen text to speech and it keeps saying cannot read aloud.

All Good Except. There should be an analog feature in addition to swiping to move directions. Like if you’re on the web, the cursor just skips around the screen instead of a steady movement.

Absolute Trash. I got this app thinking it would streamline the in game chats with my friends. I was greeted by “Could Not Find PS4”. I googled how to fix this and tried very thing I found. Eventually the app started telling me that I was some random person trying to steal my own information and that I needed to reset my password. This app is trash and needs a complete overhaul.

Not worth it. This apps core function is to be a “second screen” and it does not do that at all. The only feature that’s available after connecting with your ps4, which is hell to do, is to be able to use your phone like a controller with limited options. Don’t waste your time.

was better in the past. i don’t think that taking this out of the old app was the best idea but i don’t know why people are complaining this much because it still serves its purpose. the only downside is that it takes up more space on your phone when it comes to your apps and everything. still don’t know why that is a big problem because you can make a folder and put all three apps in it.

They once again strip another feature from the PlayStation app that was once all together but now a separate app, and made another one to profit money from it. This has happened to the Messages. First that? Now this. Sorry Sony but no I'm not keeping this just so you earn more. Always never cared about what the customers think.

Not sure how useful as is. Things were going well until I opened up Netflix. Then the navigation stopped working. My gut is that they built the app to work for only native PS4 navigation and any 3rd party apps aren’t included. Mostly defeats the purpose for me since I mainly use the PS4 for the entertainment apps. Hopefully they add more apps soon!

Have to connect to home wifi. I was really hoping that the app would allow me to second screen my PS4 while away from home in order to, for instance, start downloading a game update while I commute home from work. In order to use the second screen you have to be connected to the same network your PS4 is using and that's kind of lame.

Doesn’t work. I’m not complaining about the apps being separated, as it’s been covered. But this apps features have been removed from the original app and added to its very own, dedicated app. You would think that should mean it would work. I mean, it has ONE JOB to do. And *spoiler alert* IT DOESN’T. I even sat right in front of the PS4 only for this app to tell me alternately there was no PS4 found or that it couldn’t connect to it in time. Fantastic.

The bad thing. When you text for hours there’s an Alert that says I can’t read this out loud can you extended the limit. This was happening for a while

no PS4 found. the app is garbage, if you get it to work you are lucky, but I am very tired of rebooting things in hopes that it will actually work like it is supposed to and getting nothing! phone is in the same network, all updates are done, everything has been rebooted... “no ps4 found” and 0 options other than “refresh”! don’t waste your time with this trash!

Not what I want it to be.. I mean honestly it is very touchy and hard to use. It works fine for me I don’t mind that there are a bunch of apps because I don’t use any of them. I think this is a really cool idea but I think there is an execution failure. It needs to make more sense when you are trying to use it like a remote. That is honestly my biggest complaint here I guess is that it doesn’t really function the way I think it should.

Yikes. Downloaded this app a few years ago and it would never work and never connect to any systems. Downloaded it again after a few years and it still has not been fixed, neither the remote play app or the second screen app have ever worked like they are intended. Please take these apps down its a waste of time and reflects poorly on the company's involved.

WHYYYYYY?!?!??. Why try to fix something that wasn’t broken from the start. I liked the all in one PS app. This... this is not it at all. Whats the point of being able to save the device if i have to reconnect it just because my phone was locked for an hour. Literally I’ve had to go to my settings to add the same device everyday since I downloaded this. Cmon yall. Fix it.

it was okay in the beginning.... the app was fine in the beginning. I actually thought it was quite cool when i discovered that i could use my phone as a controller. but then when i switched my wifi network, it stopped working and it says it can’t find any playstations at all. i was really looking forward to using this feature more often.

Login suggestion. I downloaded the app so that I could log into my ps4 because at the moment I don’t have a remote but turns out that I need to go into my settings and set it up you should make it to where when you connect you should just sign in so if you don’t have a remote it’s no problem

READ MY REVIEW. I’ve had my Ps4 since day 1 and second screen since day 1. It’s been OVER 3 1/2 YEARS. This function needs more features. I.e buttons other than options and the home button. We(Ps4 users) need to be able to at least control Netflix, join and talk in parties on second screen. What does is say second screen for if it does nothing? FIX IT!; with Improvements.

Doesn’t work.... I really wanted this to work. REALLY, wanted it to. The concept of it is so cool, but they can’t pull it off. Update after update it says bug fixes. And yet it still won’t connect. I’ve tried each little trick, I’ve followed its instructions to the T. Nothing. If it gets fixed and I can finally connect and work it, I’ll change my reviews, but as of now it’s barely even worth the one Star it gets.

The app was great.... ...when it worked. I like the ability to use my phone for text chat. Problem is, my app no longer detects my PS4. Both are on the same Wi-Fi, it worked fine a week ago, tried logging out and back in, uninstall and reinstall, but nothing is working. This is rather unfortunate and I’d like to use the app again. Please read this Sony and fix this issue.

Why. I got this app cuz it looked like a second controller but it wasn’t. I was able to connect it to the ps4 easily but now it just says that it didn’t find one. I connected to the same network and I straight up put the iPad on the ps4 pro but NO. Fix this issue plz

It’s just not working. While the concept of the app seems great and all. I just can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve signed in with the same account that I have on my PS4 and I’m signed into the same WiFi network and for some reason it’s saying it can’t find my PS4 and yes the PS4 is turned on and on the same WiFi connection. Please look into this. I would really love to use this app.

Works OK to turn in PS4 remotely. ...but, it’s essentially a wasted app otherwise. Convenient when I’m not immediately near the console or the controllers from another room. The ability to see chat during streaming is OK, but has lag. -The frustrating thing is whenever I first open the app, the ‘Help’ screen pops up every time.

Great but.... This is a great app because I can type to talk to my friends because my mic broke but it would be amazing if we could talk through our phone microphone to other players in the party

Broken app. App use to work a couple months ago, but they broke it once they did an update to add the PS5. This app has regressed since recent update to the point of being unable to be used anymore. All of a sudden it’s required to make my PS4 my primary on my account since the update, and doing that still doesn’t get the app to function properly. Please fix ASAP thank you!

Not what I expected. Why do u have to be connected to the same network. It should be a connect once and I can see what's going on on my PS4 updates etc. Also it took me 20 minutes to log in cause every time I would attempt to log in the app would crash. After about the 40th time trying it finally let me in just to be disappointed with how it works.

FIX THE SECOND SCREEN. Your app itself says it all. “Second screen” but yet it doesn’t work?? If you guys can fix that feature itself then the community itself will finally love and appreciate this app more than ever before. When i think about “Second screen” i think i can play the game im playing on my ps4 on my phone and use my controller to play, sad case cause thats not what it means, remote play actually works tho, BUT you have to use your phone as the controller. playstation idk if its possible but fix this asap so this app can be 5 stars cause thats all its missing

Everything’s great except one thing. I gave this app a four star but it could’ve been a five star if you could fix the bug with ark survival evolved and not being able to type thanks

Bugs. I’m on iOS 14 on 11PMx and this app as well as the PS4 remote play force closes every time I try to interact with the “Two-Step verification” screen. A single tap of the screen on the interface causes it to close immediately. I am able to use the app by turning off Two-factor from the PS4, even though I rather have it.

Streaming controller. I downloaded this app to use as a remote for streaming but it doesn’t work. This app will allow me to select my streaming service but would allow me to scroll through the services to select a show. This app could be practical if they fixed this issue. Until this problem is fixed I do not recommend downloading this app for any practical use.

After IOS 14 update, app closes. I gave it 3 stars cause I played remote play for a min. After I updated my iPhone to IOS 14 I can’t never sign in. It makes me mad that it does that. Could be a bug but please fix this!! As soon as I sign in and ask for verification, I tap on the screen and it’s just gone. It irritates me
